- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I want to thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to spend with me, even if it is just for a few minutes.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So whether it's morning, afternoon, or evening, I just want to say thank you.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Thank you for spending this time with me.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I wanted to do a couple of episodes on just friendships.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And the reason being is I have been talking with several clients recently about the concept of burnout.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And one of the things that that has been known to help when we are facing burnout, or a reason that contributes rather to burnout is that lack of community, that lack of feeling as part of a tribe, which uh when we think about it, it can be uh tracked back to how strong are our friendships?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: How strong is that personal community where we feel connected?
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So I just felt like it was important to talk about friendships in general.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And so today's podcast is really just about a few things that we can do to attract healthier friendships.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Um, attracting those healthier friends is just an easier way to have that healthier mindset.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: It really does help deal with that feeling of burnout.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: When we have those healthier friendships, we have those healthier feelings of community, we then are in a stronger position in those moments where we start to feel overwhelmed and overstressed.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: So people who emphasize a healthy lifestyle, uh they they truthfully, you know, surrounding ourselves with those people, having friendships with people such as that creates our own healthier dynamic in our own world because we are uh surrounding ourselves with people uh who have a like mind, who are attracting and bringing in those positive vibes into our world.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: So, you know, making a shift into this place of being a healthier friend and attracting healthier friendships will put you in that place of that healthier mindset.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So, you know, when we think about it, it's it's you know, we could ask ourselves, well, what can I do to create those healthier friendships?
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: What what steps could I take in order to attract like-minded people?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: So a few things that really come to mind in terms of being able to attract healthy friendships.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: One is open-mindedness, two is really having well-rounded interests, and three is that pursuit of happiness.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about this a little bit.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Open-minded people.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Open-minded people think outside of the box.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: It leaves room for a wide range of opportunities and outcomes.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Being open-minded can affect friendships by widening just that pool of potential friends, for instance.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Being open-minded creates opportunities to try new things.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Being open-minded is about having that willingness to step out of outside of one's comfort zone into that growth zone area.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: And so being open-minded essentially uh helps create that space for growth opportunities.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Also, open-mindedness helps us avoid getting stuck into those petty things such as judgment or preconceived notions and stereotyping.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: And in truthfully, the more open-minded we are, we are able to, and we and we attract people who also show open-mindedness.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Those will contribute to a healthier friendship.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, well-rounded interests are the second one that I had mentioned.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, when people are open to trying a wide range of and a wide variety of things, you know, the the personal calendar can be filled with fun and exciting, um, joy-provoking activities that we um do with uh people that that we enjoy being around.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And truth be told, when we are well-rounded and we have a wide range of activities, we end up meeting people and different people in those different areas.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: So it's not necessarily about um you know the just having the well-rounded activities for uh you know um the idea of of exploring just different interests, it you also get exposed to different people who also have the um the love of of exploring um new opportunities and new interests.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: So again, attracting people of a like-minded mindset.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: But also when we are are building our friendships on trying these new activities, once again, we're actually helping each other uh push ourselves into that growth zone and out of staying stuck in that comfort zone.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, the third one is really the pursuit of happiness.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Um, pursuing happiness really is is that thing that we really strive for.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It's you know, we constantly hear ourselves, or we I think a lot of us say, I just I really just want to be happy.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: And unhealthy people or unhappy people tend to attract other unhappy people.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And so when we are thinking about healthy friendships, right, and and um functional friendships, it's about finding people who are equally searching for things that bring them joy, things that they find happiness, or people that are are striving to find the good in their life rather than just only focusing on the negative.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Um, negativity breeds negativity, you know, and so when we're thinking about how do I cultivate healthier, happier friendships, it's about finding people who are also hyper-focused or at least more focused on looking for what's going right versus what's going wrong.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And when we are able to uh bring more of that into our world, not just on our own, but the people that we surround ourselves with, we are actually building that positive energy around us.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: We're building those healthier friendships, and healthier friendships lead to that sense of community, which can be a way that we combat things like stress, overwhelm, and burnout.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: So I hope those I uh ideas or just those three um tips on how we can attract healthier friendships are helpful for you.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Uh, I would say that it's really important to spend some time making sure that you have your support system, that you have those people that you can count on, because when you are dealing with you know stress in everyday life, it is important to know that you have a support system.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: And for those of you who would like to talk about possibly um what's coming up for you, and if there is the um the need for additional support, feel free to reach out to me anytime.
