- 0:04Speaker 2: Here for you, here for good.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Good morning, Megan, good morning. What'd you guys do last night?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Anything fun?
- 0:12Speaker 3: Watched it sunset, beautiful sunset, and then went to sleep.
- 0:18Speaker 3: It was in so exciting, so amazing.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I did.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I had soccer on because Germany lost. Germany lost in soccer.
- 0:26Speaker 3: That was a big upset last night.
- 0:28Speaker 4: So I'm surprised I haven't heard from.
- 0:30Speaker 5: One of my best friends is German, and she's always
- 0:32Speaker 5: about the soccer.
- 0:33Speaker 4: I'm telling you, she gets riled up.
- 0:35Speaker 2: She's sulking right now. That's what's going on.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm excited at Our next USA game is Wednesday night,
- 0:40Speaker 1: eight pm, so I'm gonna have to DVR it, but
- 0:43Speaker 1: we'll be at Lynch's pregaming with Michelobultra from six to eight,
- 0:48Speaker 1: so join us. Last time there was a USA game
- 0:51Speaker 1: at Lynch's Irish pub, the place was packed. It's incredible.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So if you're looking for a lot of energy, a
- 0:57Speaker 1: great place to watch the game, you can join us
- 0:59Speaker 1: there with Michel obol And.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Now we're in the knockout rounds. Man, it means everything,
- 1:03Speaker 3: so you lose, you go home. That's what's going on?
- 1:05Speaker 4: Man, I don't want us to go home. We're America.
- 1:08Speaker 4: We're supposed to be the winners.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And that's the thing with soccer.
- 1:11Speaker 3: We're used to kind of being that team to go, well,
- 1:14Speaker 3: you know, we're America and it's soccer.
- 1:17Speaker 2: So if we do okay, it's okay.
- 1:19Speaker 3: But now we understand it's like your college football team
- 1:22Speaker 3: losing and you can't believe it because there are people
- 1:25Speaker 3: that just are incensed that their team has lost. I
- 1:27Speaker 3: got a friend who grew up in Cameroon. It's Cameroonian
- 1:30Speaker 3: and when they lost, like their first round a few
- 1:33Speaker 3: years ago, he was like, they shouldn't be allowed back
- 1:35Speaker 3: in this country. I mean, he's like, that is serious
- 1:38Speaker 3: stuff to them. These people are crazy. I was at
- 1:40Speaker 3: Lynches on Saturday. It was the England game against Panama
- 1:46Speaker 3: and I met people from England that had flown here
- 1:49Speaker 3: and we're just traveling to different places.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I met people from Scotland. It was some very tall
- 1:55Speaker 1: Swedish people. It's amazing all I can't believe how tall
- 1:59Speaker 1: the Swedes are. I'm like, we're midgets here, we're little people.
- 2:04Speaker 1: My apologies.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Let's get make these three things. See what else is
- 2:08Speaker 2: going on in the world.
- 2:09Speaker 5: Okay, Florida Highway Patrol is in the running for having
- 2:13Speaker 5: the best cruiser photo. This is a thing that all
- 2:16Speaker 5: of the different highway patrols can apply to. They send
- 2:19Speaker 5: in just what their car looks like in a beautiful
- 2:22Speaker 5: like sunset, or if it's in a field or something
- 2:24Speaker 5: that feels very.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Whatever state they're from, it feels like they're state.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Well, Georgia's in the running too, and they've got a
- 2:31Speaker 5: horse in their picture, so at first you might think, well,
- 2:34Speaker 5: they have a horse and our cruisers on a bridge
- 2:38Speaker 5: with a sunset, but their looks like AI. So I'm
- 2:41Speaker 5: pretty sure we've got a pretty good chance to win.
- 2:43Speaker 5: All good Tonight the Mega Millions, the drawing is happening
- 2:46Speaker 5: five hundred and eleven million dollars, So I think we
- 2:50Speaker 5: need to do an office pool maybe so we can
- 2:53Speaker 5: have a chance.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I already bought my ticket. I would encourage people not
- 2:55Speaker 1: to buy theirs. I feel like I've already got the
- 2:57Speaker 1: winning numbers.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I'll hold off.
- 3:01Speaker 5: This weekend, there was an eight foot hammerhead shark that
- 3:06Speaker 5: washed up on Atlantic Beach.
- 3:07Speaker 4: This is crazy. The poor thing was injured.
- 3:10Speaker 5: It looked like it got hit by a boat and
- 3:12Speaker 5: it took an excavator crew to remove it, but they
- 3:15Speaker 5: ended up being able to get it off of the
- 3:16Speaker 5: shore wild right here on our own beaches.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting about that Jacksonville off the old
- 3:22Speaker 1: pier before it was destroyed by a hurricane. We rebuilt it,
- 3:25Speaker 1: rebuilt it again. We had the world record hammerhead was
- 3:29Speaker 1: caught off the Jacksonville Beach pier and then it was
- 3:31Speaker 1: probably like fifteen years ago it was beaten by Australia.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Wow, it's crazy. That's three things you need to know.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And the big show we go down to the Tampa area. Well,
- 3:42Speaker 3: the red and blue emergency lights in the suv were
- 3:44Speaker 3: activated and someoney got pulled over.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Two things wrong with that statement.
- 3:52Speaker 3: One, the guy who activated the emergency lights in his
- 3:55Speaker 3: suv not a police officer.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Oh mah, well that's fun.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And the other thing, the guy he pulled over was
- 4:01Speaker 3: a police officer. Oops, undercover, you are going to jail.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Today.
- 4:10Speaker 1: We're talking about you know, America's two hundred and fiftieth
- 4:13Speaker 1: birthday is this Saturday. What makes us proud to be
- 4:16Speaker 1: an American? You can call us three eight eight thirty
- 4:18Speaker 1: six ninety nine or leave us a talkback.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Hey, it's Jean Marie Chumley's wife.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I love America because we drink beer, we eat chicken wings,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and we invented NASCAR. Number three forever ravetail or praivail
- 4:32Speaker 1: gojen Oh, that's my watch. She does love NASCAR. Watching
- 4:35Speaker 1: NASCAR with hers kind of like watching football with Froggy.
- 4:39Speaker 1: She's screaming at the TV Big Dale or in hardfare
- 4:42Speaker 1: rest his soul. But you know, if you think about it,
- 4:44Speaker 1: we did invent NASCAR, right, and it kind of started
- 4:48Speaker 1: with bootleg and liquor during prohibition and look what it's
- 4:51Speaker 1: morphed into. And Nascar is a great sport. Go fast,
- 4:54Speaker 1: turn left, that is great.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So we would love to hear from you whatever it is,
- 4:57Speaker 3: it can be, whatever it is that makes you.
- 5:00Speaker 1: There's so many things to be proud of in this country,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and you know, two hundred and fifty years, look how
- 5:05Speaker 1: much we've done.
- 5:06Speaker 3: And we're being reminded of it when all the people,
- 5:08Speaker 3: the people come over here and tell us how great
- 5:10Speaker 3: our country is. When you know you've got half of
- 5:13Speaker 3: the people in this country complaining about how great.
- 5:16Speaker 1: People are talking about not flying the flag on the
- 5:18Speaker 1: fourth of July. I've got a big giant flag and
- 5:21Speaker 1: it gets awfully close to the ground, but I keep
- 5:23Speaker 1: it off the ground. I think it's serious. Some people
- 5:24Speaker 1: are talking about flying the flag upside down?
- 5:26Speaker 4: What this is?
- 5:27Speaker 2: America? Come on, this will.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Makes me mad.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You're an incredible country, Am I wrong?
- 5:31Speaker 5: We are an incredible country, and I think that until
- 5:34Speaker 5: you learn more about what other countries are like, truly like,
- 5:38Speaker 5: and the limitations they have. You can say America sucks
- 5:42Speaker 5: all you want, but when people come over here them,
- 5:45Speaker 5: they're like, Wow, I can post on social media whatever
- 5:47Speaker 5: I want, I can say whatever I want. Yeah, I
- 5:49Speaker 5: can protect my family however I want.
- 5:52Speaker 4: To a point. I mean, what's not to love?
- 5:54Speaker 1: And it's little things. My daughter's in France right now
- 5:57Speaker 1: and she's upset because her phone doesn't work very well
- 6:00Speaker 1: and the internet shotting, and I was like, yeah, they
- 6:02Speaker 1: don't have a five G tower every quarter of a
- 6:04Speaker 1: mile in France.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Yeah, and we have them here and they're decorated to
- 6:07Speaker 4: look like Teresa.
- 6:07Speaker 2: See how about that? Take that? There you go, that's
- 6:11Speaker 2: getting the Megan's.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Music city man, and we'd love to hear from you.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry nine oh four to three at eight thirty
- 6:15Speaker 3: six ninety nine, the.
- 6:16Speaker 4: US men's soccer team.
- 6:18Speaker 5: The coaches have banded together to try to ask Luke Combs,
- 6:21Speaker 5: Landy Wilson, and Ella Langley.
- 6:23Speaker 4: To come to a game.
- 6:25Speaker 5: But really what they want is for those three artists
- 6:28Speaker 5: to come perform for the coaches, because I guess the
- 6:30Speaker 5: coaches are getting together and playing country music every night
- 6:33Speaker 5: before their games, so they want our stars to join them.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You know what, if it brings luck to the team,
- 6:38Speaker 1: bring it on.
- 6:39Speaker 4: I'm on, yeah, I agree.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Rhett Atkins has just been invited to join the Grand
- 6:44Speaker 5: Old Opry. This is one of those agens Aikins. I'm sorry,
- 6:48Speaker 5: I said Akins, Yes, Akins.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I'm a little dyslexic.
- 6:51Speaker 5: But Rhett is one of those artists that you would
- 6:53Speaker 5: think is already in the Grand Old Opry. There's a
- 6:55Speaker 5: lot of really iconic people that they just they're not
- 6:59Speaker 5: in it.
- 6:59Speaker 4: They've never invited.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And the thing is sometimes is that sometimes if they
- 7:03Speaker 3: were kind of quietly invited, there was like, I can't
- 7:05Speaker 3: make it. You have to be up there once a month,
- 7:06Speaker 3: you have to be able to perform at the opera
- 7:08Speaker 3: a certain amount of time, and some people just go,
- 7:11Speaker 3: I just don't make that trip up there and whatever,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and maybe I shouldn't, But that's nice that he got invited.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Now, yeah, it is really awesome.
- 7:16Speaker 5: And if you're a Garth Brooks fan, he's teasing on
- 7:19Speaker 5: his website countdown Clock. People are thinking this could be
- 7:22Speaker 5: a tour announcement, maybe another limited edition box set.
- 7:25Speaker 4: But this is something we see country artists doing quite
- 7:28Speaker 4: a bit lately. I'm Megan. That's your music city minute.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Also, she was an actress in wickeed Aria on a grande?
- 7:33Speaker 3: How old is Ari on a grande?
- 7:35Speaker 4: Kim thirty three?
- 7:36Speaker 3: She is, Wow, you nailed it. Kim gets a point
- 7:42Speaker 3: wow on the head. Kim gets that point. Jay, you
- 7:45Speaker 3: get this one. Here we go. What percentage of Americans
- 7:48Speaker 3: are saying higher expenses are keeping them home for a
- 7:52Speaker 3: staycation this summer?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Jay, I'm going to say fift The answer is fifty
- 7:58Speaker 2: three percent. That is stupid. That is so stupidly. You
- 8:03Speaker 2: got some good players today are aces on this. Wow,
- 8:08Speaker 2: that's crazy.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I just like to point out I didn't know either
- 8:12Speaker 1: of those answers.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Same all right, his.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Time for the tie breaker.
- 8:16Speaker 3: If you know the answer to this question, shout your name.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I will give a multiple choice because it is baked
- 8:20Speaker 3: into the question talking about America, which man was president
- 8:24Speaker 3: before the other? Abraham Lincoln or Thomas Jefferson.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Jay, Kim, Jay, Abraham Lincoln.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It is not Abraham Lincoln. Thomas Jefferson was the third president.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Abe Lincoln was sixteen. So Kim's going to be our
- 8:37Speaker 3: winner today.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Good Joe, Congratulations. Oh Jay, we'll get you on the
- 8:43Speaker 1: next one. Thank you, Kim.
- 8:44Speaker 4: We're sending you to Meghan Maroney. Oh, my sisters and excited.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And we'll do this again tomorrow morning around seven ten.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Grab two more contestants to play the pop quiz Country
- 8:53Speaker 3: ninety nine one WQIK Country ninety nine one WQIK.
- 8:57Speaker 2: With the Big Show.
- 8:58Speaker 1: We're celebrating America turning two one hundred and fifty years
- 9:00Speaker 1: old on Saturday. It's the fourth of July. What makes
- 9:03Speaker 1: you proud to be an American? Hey, this is Melody,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and I'm proud to be an American because we invented
- 9:09Speaker 1: country music.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Oh, we could stop right there.
- 9:11Speaker 4: That's what I'm talking about.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I love it. John.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You were saying the other day that country music it
- 9:18Speaker 1: also had some Irish folk music.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Influence.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You know, that's another great thing about America is we've
- 9:24Speaker 1: got a lot of great immigrants that have brought some
- 9:26Speaker 1: neat culture to exactly country music.
- 9:29Speaker 2: That's a great one. The melting pot.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I mean some of that stuff that came from the Appalachians,
- 9:33Speaker 3: and they came from Irish, a lot of those Irish
- 9:36Speaker 3: songs and the Irish jigs they used to do and stuff,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and then ended up morphing with some more folk music
- 9:41Speaker 3: and the next thing you know, you've got country music
- 9:44Speaker 3: and here we are. And it also went with some
- 9:46Speaker 3: of the blues that Jimmy Rodgers did the blues, and
- 9:50Speaker 3: so you put the bluesy part together with the Appalachian country,
- 9:54Speaker 3: and then is that's country music as we still know it.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You know, this is what I love about John He's
- 9:59Speaker 1: the so of music music history. It's incredible.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Don't ever quiz me though, like if there's money on
- 10:05Speaker 3: the line, I'd go like, I don't know, I don't
- 10:07Speaker 3: know what the answer is.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I think you'd be my first pick for trivia and
- 10:10Speaker 4: I just saying you or your son it's genetic.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Oh that's true. He does.
- 10:13Speaker 3: He will win some a beer tab that's for sure.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Let's get into Megan's three things. See what's up.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Well, we have a local guy who's a baseball player
- 10:21Speaker 5: out of Lake City. His name's Dalton Malden and he
- 10:25Speaker 5: just got on the roster to play the Savannah Banana
- 10:28Speaker 5: Banana Ball. His team is called Logo Beach Coconuts and
- 10:31Speaker 5: he auditioned for this by dressing up like Buddy the Elve,
- 10:36Speaker 5: So obviously they loved him. That's very bananas and vibes.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yes it is, And that's that's crazy.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Those things are selling out football stadiums, the Savannah Bananas.
- 10:44Speaker 3: People love them, selling out football stadiums.
- 10:46Speaker 4: It's a fun time. Have either of you been to
- 10:47Speaker 4: one of those one of theirs.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I've watched it on TV. You know, you go. I
- 10:50Speaker 2: could see this being great in person.
- 10:52Speaker 5: It's kind of like high school musical with the baseball
- 10:54Speaker 5: Haspoian School two.
- 10:56Speaker 4: It is singing, dancing, good looking guys and playing baseball.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It kind of reminds me of the Harlem Globe Trotters. Yeah, basketball,
- 11:04Speaker 1: it's that for baseball. Yes, it's the Globe Trotters meets
- 11:06Speaker 1: high school musical y and me on, I think we
- 11:09Speaker 1: nailed it.
- 11:09Speaker 5: The Mega millions drawing is tonight five hundred and eleven
- 11:13Speaker 5: million dollars, so get your ticket. And the Florida Highway
- 11:16Speaker 5: Patrol is in the running for having.
- 11:18Speaker 4: The best cruiser photo.
- 11:19Speaker 5: All over the country, different Highway patrols have sent.
- 11:22Speaker 4: In their pictures.
- 11:23Speaker 5: We are neck and neck with Georgia, who I think
- 11:26Speaker 5: they've got ai in their picture. They have a horse
- 11:28Speaker 5: which looks really cool, but it does not look real.
- 11:30Speaker 5: So surely we'll have the upper handle new That's three
- 11:33Speaker 5: things you need to know.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Listening to Country ninety nine, well, just in time for
- 11:36Speaker 3: the fourth of July.
- 11:37Speaker 2: That's doing alone food. It's Usday.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It's forty Tuesday with the big show in Country ninety
- 11:44Speaker 3: nine one wq I K with Chum Lee and John,
- 11:48Speaker 3: Meghan and Froggy and Meghan.
- 11:51Speaker 5: Mountain Dew has a commemorative can bundle for five cents.
- 11:57Speaker 5: But get this, okay, you get a ten pack of
- 11:59Speaker 5: Mountain Dew many cans. There's only one commemorative can in
- 12:03Speaker 5: each ten pack, okay, but five cents. It's on TikTok
- 12:06Speaker 5: shop only, so you.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Have to get on there. So I would have to
- 12:09Speaker 4: order one.
- 12:09Speaker 2: For you, Yes, you would, since it's social media day.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We can go ahead and recognize that, and I'm not
- 12:14Speaker 2: on it.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Five sense, So that's a steel.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It is a steel.
- 12:17Speaker 1: We do have those commemorative cans in our break room
- 12:20Speaker 1: and I got one. It's the American dew instead of
- 12:22Speaker 1: Mountain dew.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And I like that.
- 12:23Speaker 4: I love it.
- 12:24Speaker 2: That is cool.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Applebee's, the dollar rita is back, Yes, for the first
- 12:29Speaker 3: time in years. They said they're doing it that for
- 12:32Speaker 3: the two hundred and fiftieth birthday.
- 12:34Speaker 2: That's cool. Bring back a dollar rita at your favorite Applebee's.
- 12:37Speaker 4: They'll get my business.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Megan.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Something very Jacksonville that you haven't tried yet. I don't
- 12:41Speaker 1: think have you been to the Sheic.
- 12:43Speaker 4: No, I've never heard of it.
- 12:44Speaker 1: You have not lived in Jacksonville till you've had a
- 12:48Speaker 1: steak in the sec from the icy a peeda bread
- 12:52Speaker 1: with grilled steak in there. It's got onions. You can
- 12:54Speaker 1: pick your cheese, Swiss or American. Obviously I go American,
- 12:58Speaker 1: and they've got some great fries. And when they give
- 13:00Speaker 1: it to you, their seeds and salt and I think
- 13:03Speaker 1: it's Lowry's and you just pour that all over it
- 13:05Speaker 1: and then it's fantastic.
- 13:06Speaker 4: It sounds good, but it also sounds like man food.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It is, but you'll love it. Oh, but it's good manfood.
- 13:10Speaker 1: You will love it.
- 13:15Speaker 3: My wife used to love She who still love that
- 13:17Speaker 3: steak in sac Oh the sheet man got to do it.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Country ninety nine one WQIK. We're hungry now.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Listening on the free iHeartRadio app.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Or do you take the First Coast Expressway? It all
- 13:27Speaker 3: over on the west side in Clay County.
- 13:28Speaker 1: You know, I don't get out that way often. I've
- 13:31Speaker 1: only taken a piece of that new highway the Duval
- 13:33Speaker 1: County side, but I think it now goes through Clay
- 13:36Speaker 1: County and connects to the Shans for it.
- 13:38Speaker 3: They just opened that new three mile portion that's going
- 13:41Speaker 3: to take you from US seventeen to the base of
- 13:43Speaker 3: the Shans.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I think they are supposed to have opened that yesterday.
- 13:46Speaker 4: So that's awesome.
- 13:47Speaker 5: It's gonna be so convenient for our friends who have
- 13:49Speaker 5: to go over the Shans right, and then more.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Sooner or later when they build the new Shans and
- 13:53Speaker 3: then that's going to connect to ninety five.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So we're going to have this cut through on the backside.
- 13:58Speaker 3: But think of all the possibility with neighborhoods and all
- 14:01Speaker 3: the things that are going to happen and the growth
- 14:02Speaker 3: that's going to happen on Western Duval and then Clay
- 14:05Speaker 3: County by Middleburgs, though.
- 14:07Speaker 1: They're already building those massive neighborhoods over there. My hope
- 14:10Speaker 1: is it clears up some of the congestion on idy
- 14:13Speaker 1: of June.
- 14:13Speaker 3: We'll be back in July. Country ninety nine one WQIK
- 14:17Speaker 3: The Big Show. What did we learn this morning?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Megan?
- 14:19Speaker 4: I learned I got to go over to the Sheik
- 14:21Speaker 4: and get one of them steak in a sex.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yes, you do, we will go together. I'd like to
