- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes seven ten through seven twelve, The
- 0:16Speaker 1: Battle of Love, The New Leader Side versus Baby Five,
- 0:21Speaker 1: The Man's Pride, Bellamy's Last Charge, and a Strong Wind
- 0:26Speaker 1: and a Surge Hakuba versus Dellinger. In these episodes, I
- 0:34Speaker 1: kind of get what I ask for with Bellamy, but
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't want it really.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I take it back.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Also, I get more Baby five. I'm pretty much getting
- 0:47Speaker 1: a lot of stuff I asked for in this episode,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and I'm into it. Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to
- 1:11Speaker 1: the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:14Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode. Yeah, guys, I just
- 1:19Speaker 1: really enjoyed these three episodes so much, which, like, considering
- 1:27Speaker 1: how little our main people are in these episodes is
- 1:32Speaker 1: saying a lot like it just struck me how a
- 1:40Speaker 1: lot of the time in the past, the thing that
- 1:42Speaker 1: would irritate me and make me say, hey, I didn't
- 1:47Speaker 1: enjoy this thing would be we weren't with the people
- 1:50Speaker 1: that I care about.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Where are they, what's going on with them?
- 1:53Speaker 1: I don't care about these other yokals, you know, But
- 1:58Speaker 1: this section, all of these characters are made interesting enough
- 2:04Speaker 1: that I was fully invested still, and the fact that
- 2:09Speaker 1: we hadn't checked in with my regular people did not matter.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I will say I have begun to start sort of
- 2:17Speaker 1: wonder what the hell is going on with fucking uh
- 2:22Speaker 1: Nammy and Chopper and everybody, because like, it's been how
- 2:29Speaker 1: many months now of me covering this and we still
- 2:32Speaker 1: have not seen them. It's been a minute. So I
- 2:37Speaker 1: am very much sort of like, okay, like guys, you know, however,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I really only feel that way if I stop and
- 2:47Speaker 1: think about it, and in the moment, I am not
- 2:50Speaker 1: like expecting to see them and then being irritated or annoyed.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So I feel like that's still pretty much a win.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So okay, let's start with episode seven to ten, which
- 3:02Speaker 1: is the one that really focuses on Baby five and Si.
- 3:10Speaker 1: So it turns out I wasn't realizing the fact that
- 3:13Speaker 1: Si is Dunchin Doun Chin Jaw's son. But what we
- 3:23Speaker 1: end up getting here is some weird like we get
- 3:27Speaker 1: we look back at Baby five's life and find out
- 3:36Speaker 1: like how she was treated that made her turn into
- 3:42Speaker 1: somebody who desperately just wants to be seen as useful.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So that she always is like ripe for being taken
- 3:51Speaker 1: advantage of. And you know, guys, this show has been uh,
- 4:00Speaker 1: very simplistic in like the motivations for people from their
- 4:06Speaker 1: past and like the very direct one to one ratios
- 4:10Speaker 1: of how they behave in the present.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But I'm really like, you know, don't I don't.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Need this to be a whole complicated thing. It's really fine.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And maybe Five is not a key important character or anything.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And I what we find out is that she was
- 4:32Speaker 1: born to a woman in I feel like, I want
- 4:37Speaker 1: to say a tribe, because we don't ever even really
- 4:40Speaker 1: see a village or anything. So there's a sense of
- 4:44Speaker 1: almost them being like nomads or at the very least
- 4:48Speaker 1: living at the razor's edge of survival. And apparently this
- 4:57Speaker 1: lady getting pregnant and having a kid was not good
- 5:02Speaker 1: news to anybody. I don't know if it was like
- 5:05Speaker 1: a good idea at the time, and then things went
- 5:09Speaker 1: badly for this community and so they didn't have the resources,
- 5:12Speaker 1: or if it was a bad idea from the start, and.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Maybe five gets.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Basically dragged into the woods and abandoned and left to
- 5:30Speaker 1: die by her mother who tells her you're useless and
- 5:40Speaker 1: nobody in the world has any use for you whatsoever,
- 5:45Speaker 1: And so of course this becomes the thing that's like
- 5:48Speaker 1: in her head about how she has to earn her
- 5:56Speaker 1: right to be alive by being useful to people. I
- 6:05Speaker 1: understand this is something that like, her need to be
- 6:09Speaker 1: useful is something that I personally definitely relate to. And
- 6:15Speaker 1: it's not like it's a weird thing, because I don't
- 6:20Speaker 1: think I'm alone in this. But I will simultaneously want
- 6:23Speaker 1: to do a thing and resent the very desire to
- 6:27Speaker 1: do that thing, because I will know where that desire
- 6:31Speaker 1: is coming from and that my expectation of myself is unfair.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But I won't be able to quite turn off the
- 6:38Speaker 1: expectation itself, if that makes sense. So her feeling like
- 6:43Speaker 1: I want to be useful and find somebody who needs
- 6:50Speaker 1: me and says that they need me, it's not actually
- 6:56Speaker 1: that different from how a lot of women are raised.
- 6:59Speaker 1: We are not told that our existence itself is like valid.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Women are raised with a very different sort of metric
- 7:14Speaker 1: than men are. And obviously I'm being very like sins
- 7:19Speaker 1: normative here, But for the simplicity of this, you get
- 7:22Speaker 1: what I'm saying. The expectation of women being useful has
- 7:31Speaker 1: been from the ability to bear children, which not all
- 7:37Speaker 1: women are able to do so, right there, you already
- 7:40Speaker 1: have a problem if you can't get pregnant, to the
- 7:43Speaker 1: ability to manage domestic affairs. A lot of the time,
- 7:47Speaker 1: that's the expectation. Our usefulness is something that is hammered
- 7:57Speaker 1: into us because for a long time we could not
- 8:00Speaker 1: earn our own money. So it was like we had
- 8:03Speaker 1: to make it worth the person to make it worth
- 8:08Speaker 1: it for them to marry us part of the whole
- 8:12Speaker 1: thing with a dowry as well. And it's just very
- 8:16Speaker 1: funny to me that it was always just like the
- 8:18Speaker 1: baggage of women that we have to like marry off
- 8:21Speaker 1: versus the actual value of having a son. And it's like, yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 1: are the ones who made the world this way. Women
- 8:29Speaker 1: could be like generating in comfort, They could there could
- 8:32Speaker 1: be a whole thing, but you are the ones who
- 8:34Speaker 1: decided to make it so that we are completely dependent
- 8:37Speaker 1: on men. And now you're mad at us over it,
- 8:38Speaker 1: Like come on, And I just know in person a
- 8:47Speaker 1: few different women who see themselves as simply help meets
- 8:56Speaker 1: and not really their own people. And it's so depressing
- 8:59Speaker 1: to me to see and as somebody who like, like,
- 9:03Speaker 1: for a little while in my youth, fell into the
- 9:06Speaker 1: trap of like wrapping up my entire identity and self
- 9:11Speaker 1: worth in what men thought of me. I really understand
- 9:15Speaker 1: that impulse, especially because of the way that media works
- 9:18Speaker 1: and what we cite as being important or not in women.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So maybe five just has got a piece of my
- 9:29Speaker 1: heart in this respect, And I really understand how this
- 9:34Speaker 1: could drive somebody in a real way and not just
- 9:37Speaker 1: like the incredibly exaggerated, over the top way it.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Does in this episode.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Also, it's combined with her like willfully misunderstanding everything he says,
- 9:45Speaker 1: which is just a joke that does not get old
- 9:47Speaker 1: for me. So overall, this whole thing is the best.
- 9:55Speaker 1: At one point, he says something about how like it's
- 9:58Speaker 1: you and me until one of us or something like that,
- 10:01Speaker 1: and of course she interprets this as a proposal, and
- 10:06Speaker 1: he's like, wait, what, That's not what I meant at all.
- 10:12Speaker 1: She his father who is fighting nearby, He's fighting Laoji.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He overhears this and is like, dude, you're already even engaged.
- 10:23Speaker 2: What are you doing?
- 10:25Speaker 1: And his son is like, yeah, I know, I don't
- 10:28Speaker 1: really care who I marry though, so like whatever, you know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: it's it's not even like that big a deal. And
- 10:39Speaker 1: he says that she has misunderstood what's going on here
- 10:44Speaker 1: and tries to like say to her, that's not that's
- 10:47Speaker 1: not what's happening, and she keeps doing this sort of
- 10:54Speaker 1: like why.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Won't you just be honest with me? You said this and.
- 10:57Speaker 1: This, until finally she said, what can I do for you?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Just tell me?
- 11:08Speaker 1: And he says, you can die, and she literally transforms
- 11:17Speaker 1: her hand into a gun and holds it to her
- 11:21Speaker 1: own hand head and says, I'm so glad that I
- 11:26Speaker 1: can do something to help. This is all I have
- 11:29Speaker 1: ever wanted. And this is let me go back into
- 11:32Speaker 1: the flashback so that we can fully understand how messed
- 11:36Speaker 1: up this woman can be. That killing herself seems like
- 11:39Speaker 1: a perfectly reasonable thing to ask, and I think it's loud.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Later on, he gets involved in the fight with Si
- 11:52Speaker 1: and he says something about how you should have used
- 11:55Speaker 1: baby five as a shield. She would be willing to
- 11:58Speaker 1: do anything you asked. She's one of the most useful
- 12:01Speaker 1: women in the world, which is so incredibly gross. She
- 12:08Speaker 1: gets ulterary eyed, of course, because this is what she
- 12:11Speaker 1: wants to hear, but like the context of what he's
- 12:13Speaker 1: actually saying is very very hideous actually, And overall where
- 12:25Speaker 1: we eventually get is Sai is trying to convince her
- 12:30Speaker 1: not to kill herself, and his dad, who is down
- 12:34Speaker 1: like you know, fighting Auji. Here's him, and it's like,
- 12:39Speaker 1: that's your enemy. What are you doing?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Just let her die?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Then? If she wants to kill herself, she's making everything
- 12:47Speaker 1: very easy for you, So why don't you just let her?
- 12:51Speaker 1: I don't get your whole thing with like trying to talk.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Her out of it, and.
- 12:59Speaker 1: His son is it's just like I couldn't live with
- 13:01Speaker 1: myself if this is the way things ended, Like this
- 13:04Speaker 1: is fucked up. No, I'm not letting her do this.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And finally he manages to talk her out of this
- 13:13Speaker 1: and his father it's a really like sweet moment. I'm
- 13:19Speaker 1: trying to find the exact spot where uh he like.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Here it is.
- 13:28Speaker 1: She says, if I die, I can finally be useful
- 13:30Speaker 1: to someone, can I? And he says the world you live.
- 13:33Speaker 2: In is twisted, which is a good.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Way to say that they taught you all wrong. And
- 13:41Speaker 1: she gasps as if like, oh my god, he's opening
- 13:48Speaker 1: my eyes, and then we have Jinjau actually opening his
- 13:53Speaker 1: eyes and his head got dented that like at a
- 13:58Speaker 1: ninety degree angle. So he looks up at his son
- 14:06Speaker 1: and he says, at last, your power has awakened and
- 14:09Speaker 1: your form is true. Your training has finally borne fruit.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And he says, oh, it's not his son, it's his grandfather.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 14:20Speaker 1: He says, I'm so proud of you. The Hassoken technique
- 14:24Speaker 1: has finally found its true air. Ci your kick shall
- 14:29Speaker 1: inherit the title drill Dragonnail, as my head did before it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And then his leg lights up with fire like Sanjies,
- 14:37Speaker 1: but it's bluish green fire instead of that red yellow fire.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Knowing that you can split the continent device, the Haposui
- 14:45Speaker 1: Army is yours, truly and completely. Now I shall cancel
- 14:49Speaker 1: your arranged marriage. Your life is yours to live as
- 14:54Speaker 1: you please. And Si, who is very moved, is sort
- 14:58Speaker 1: of confused about what's going on, and he says, embrace me.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I didn't think that, you know, you were going to
- 15:07Speaker 1: be able to carry on my legacy. But I have
- 15:11Speaker 1: been dealing with this like chronic pain, and I wasn't
- 15:14Speaker 1: really sure. And just this moment of him like this
- 15:19Speaker 1: being tested and told just let her kill herself. It's
- 15:24Speaker 1: the easiest way in finding out that.
- 15:26Speaker 2: This was all just test you out.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I really did kind of like this. Meanwhile, Looji, this
- 15:39Speaker 1: man is a maniac. So they're in the middle of
- 15:43Speaker 1: this touching moment. Lougi jumps in. He does the behold
- 15:49Speaker 1: the seal of g and he not only burns a
- 15:53Speaker 1: G in Chin Jao's chest, he also digs a G
- 16:01Speaker 1: out of the wall of the cliff I think, or
- 16:05Speaker 1: something like the ground. I don't even know what it
- 16:07Speaker 1: is that they're up against, but suffice to say it's
- 16:10Speaker 1: a very large, very deeply carved G. And he goes
- 16:20Speaker 1: on to explain how he has perfected this technique that
- 16:26Speaker 1: allowed him to store up the vitality of youth like
- 16:34Speaker 1: He calls it geofist and let's see where is it?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Battle insurance fist a safety precaution to counteract infirmary or
- 16:45Speaker 1: old age. By performing ggong exercises, you can store away
- 16:51Speaker 1: muscle from your prime to draw upon later. Now I
- 16:56Speaker 1: have combined the experience of age with the vitality of youth.
- 17:01Speaker 1: No one can stand before me. My power is sublime,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and like this he has busted this out after throwing
- 17:11Speaker 1: his back out earlier on in the fight, and at
- 17:14Speaker 1: one point he like does this weird technique that they
- 17:17Speaker 1: call the back brace technique, which was honestly, extremely fucking
- 17:23Speaker 1: funny to me.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It made me think, like my.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Husband threw his back out earlier this week. I had
- 17:33Speaker 1: a really bad back injury in like July of last year,
- 17:38Speaker 1: and I couldn't even get out of bed without a
- 17:41Speaker 1: lot of help.
- 17:43Speaker 2: And.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It was absolutely miserable. You guys, like it was the
- 17:49Speaker 1: motivating factor in me finding a trainer, cleaning up my diet,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and now I have like gotten a lot more strength
- 17:54Speaker 1: in my core, which helps support your back muscles and
- 17:58Speaker 1: all of that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: But it's just so easy.
- 18:00Speaker 1: To fall out of the habit of taking care of
- 18:04Speaker 1: yourself because for the most part, with the way a
- 18:08Speaker 1: lot of us live our lives, we don't necessarily need
- 18:11Speaker 1: that kind of strength every day, so we will fall
- 18:14Speaker 1: out of doing anything that supports those muscles, and then
- 18:18Speaker 1: all of a sudden you're called on to just like
- 18:20Speaker 1: lift a bag of soil, and all of you can't
- 18:24Speaker 1: move for another week and a half afterwards, and it's
- 18:29Speaker 1: just a shame the way that it slides so under
- 18:34Speaker 1: the radar, and then it's not until you really fuck
- 18:38Speaker 1: yourself up bad that you find like the motivation to
- 18:42Speaker 1: get it together and Lougie being able to pull on
- 18:49Speaker 1: the experience of age and the vitality of youth together.
- 18:56Speaker 1: This is the dream. I'm very, very jealous.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I just want to say.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He looks completely different also, like you know, he's just
- 19:05Speaker 1: a solid dorito shaped muscle basically, and Cy is looking
- 19:12Speaker 1: at him and says, how dare you do that to him?
- 19:14Speaker 2: I'll have my revenge.
- 19:17Speaker 1: And I was sort of like, sigh, no offense, but
- 19:20Speaker 1: you really just don't look like you're.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Up for it, my guy.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Like SI's just not that impressive. He's a little bit
- 19:27Speaker 1: boring in his design, his voice isn't that distinctive, Like
- 19:33Speaker 1: most of what he's got going on is very whatever,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and he doesn't really even talk smack very well. La
- 19:42Speaker 1: Gi meanwhile, says something like you haven't trained for years
- 19:48Speaker 1: and years on your techniques, and shit, you are not
- 19:51Speaker 1: going to be able to beat me.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Get the hell out of here.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And says, for your honor, that does not mean anything,
- 20:00Speaker 1: And Si sails through the air with his fucking scythe
- 20:04Speaker 1: kind of I don't even know what to call this.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I guess it's a habark. No habark is a piece
- 20:08Speaker 1: of clothing, isn't it. It's like a piece of armor,
- 20:14Speaker 1: but it's a blade attached to like the end of
- 20:17Speaker 1: a pole. And he comes down with that blade and
- 20:23Speaker 1: Loungee literally stops it with a finger, which is actually
- 20:27Speaker 1: quite impressive. And Lougie meanwhile his face also like his
- 20:31Speaker 1: eyes are just black and his mouth has no teeth
- 20:36Speaker 1: in it still, so there is a very creepy sort
- 20:38Speaker 1: of aspect there, which we wind up seeing again later
- 20:40Speaker 1: with Cavendish's alter ego. So this is when Lougee says
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'll protect you and this interloper and to baby five,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and she's like, oh my god, they're fighting over me.
- 20:55Speaker 2: And I was just like, girl, I love I love this.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Moment for you. She's just sitting there watched him fight
- 21:00Speaker 1: to the death with this big fucking smile on her face.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It's the best, Like I love her, I just do.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It's so dumb.
- 21:09Speaker 2: I'm into it.
- 21:10Speaker 1: And lou g does end up like getting sigh in
- 21:14Speaker 1: the face and sends him flying, and this is when
- 21:18Speaker 1: he says something about you even realize what baby five
- 21:21Speaker 1: is worth. And then he says, now battle insurance, just expiration,
- 21:28Speaker 1: devil withdrawal, immolation. That is too many words, sir, And
- 21:33Speaker 1: then he says genocide with a capital G, which.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I it just.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Hits different in twenty twenty five. That's all I'm saying.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I just and so then Cy says, fine, I'll fight
- 21:51Speaker 1: you for baby five, and then I am going to
- 21:54Speaker 1: take her as my wife. He says it, he just
- 22:00Speaker 1: actually says it, and this bitch loses her goddamn mind.
- 22:07Speaker 1: She just it's so delightful. Her heart pops out of
- 22:13Speaker 1: her chest. She's got her hands over her face with
- 22:16Speaker 1: those bright pink cheeks. Everything about this is just fills
- 22:22Speaker 1: my heart with unmitigated joy. And then finally Si manages
- 22:28Speaker 1: to get lou Gi on the head with his like
- 22:32Speaker 1: really powerful kick that he has inherited, and Louji says,
- 22:38Speaker 1: young master, forgive me. And as he says this, we
- 22:44Speaker 1: see this like crack form, and the whole plateau like splits,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and Louji falls into this crevass and calls him an
- 22:55Speaker 1: accursed ape gorilla with a capital G and vanishes from sight,
- 23:02Speaker 1: along with a bunch of the other don Quixote pirates,
- 23:07Speaker 1: and I am very excited to see Baby Five's wedding.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I really hope we get to go to it and
- 23:16Speaker 1: I can't wait. So just on record for that, Oh,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Seraphim is in the chat I meant to read. Seraphim
- 23:24Speaker 1: started by saying, yes, you are pretty much alone in
- 23:26Speaker 1: those feelings about the will of D. So you know
- 23:30Speaker 1: if that's so sorry about it. I'm sorry that the
- 23:35Speaker 1: will of D thing is set up so goofily and
- 23:39Speaker 1: poorly that I had this reaction. I am not sorry
- 23:41Speaker 1: for my reaction. Just to be clear, I am sorry
- 23:45Speaker 1: that it wasn't established better.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I feel like it just doesn't It just does nothing.
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's nothing.
- 23:53Speaker 1: But I am open to my mind being changed by
- 23:58Speaker 1: future events, just as of right now.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I don't even get it.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Then, Seraphims has been eagerly awaiting you getting that Baby
- 24:09Speaker 1: five backstory with how much you loved her, think how
- 24:11Speaker 1: pexts are already is you want to add more stuff
- 24:13Speaker 1: for the other straw hats too, And the implication in
- 24:16Speaker 1: that flashback is she was the mom's fifth kid. Oh
- 24:21Speaker 1: baby five, DoD douy, I didn't even think of that
- 24:25Speaker 1: Seraphem and was so not cared about she didn't even
- 24:30Speaker 1: get a name, just fifth baby or baby five. Oh,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and then Saraphim look loudy thinks he's a ferukmist, which
- 24:38Speaker 1: is a misporm reference for those who are not familiar.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But yes, that's actually like not that far off. And
- 24:45Speaker 1: then size weapon is a glave j laive E. Okay,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I hope I'm saying that right. So yeah, So that's
- 24:53Speaker 1: the end of the first of the three episodes. It
- 24:57Speaker 1: was a winner from beginning to end in my opinion.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I also just really enjoy Louji. I like there being
- 25:03Speaker 1: an old guy. I like Laoji's weird, fucking like just
- 25:09Speaker 1: the whole way that he fights and the way that
- 25:11Speaker 1: he speaks and all of that is very fun. I
- 25:15Speaker 1: chin Jao actually grew on me a great deal. And
- 25:19Speaker 1: then maybe five, I mean all of it.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Just love it.
- 25:24Speaker 1: So jumping into the second episode, we touch base again
- 25:31Speaker 1: with Zoro fighting Pica. Now, guys, I have given a
- 25:37Speaker 1: lot of compliments to this overall arc, and I stand
- 25:40Speaker 1: by all of them, but this this is the one
- 25:45Speaker 1: where I'm starting to like just really be like, can
- 25:48Speaker 1: we get this over with?
- 25:49Speaker 2: Please?
- 25:51Speaker 1: Genuinely, can we please just get this over with? It
- 25:55Speaker 1: is silly at this point. This fight is so boring,
- 25:59Speaker 1: Like at one point even Zoro himself says, two Pika,
- 26:05Speaker 1: You're just a one trick pony, and honestly, I felt
- 26:09Speaker 1: like that kind of summed up what the whole fight
- 26:11Speaker 1: feels like. We're just watching the same three moves from
- 26:16Speaker 1: each of them over and over and over again.
- 26:21Speaker 2: It's really like.
- 26:24Speaker 1: You could absolutely recycle almost all of the illustrations from
- 26:30Speaker 1: the first moments of engagement, and I don't think I
- 26:34Speaker 1: would necessarily be able to tell the difference if you
- 26:37Speaker 1: did that. I just there there has been no perceptible
- 26:43Speaker 1: forward progress of any kind, and I genuinely have no
- 26:48Speaker 1: idea if anybody has the upper hand or what like.
- 26:52Speaker 1: There's just nothing going on here. So I will say
- 26:58Speaker 1: since it's so boring, at least the show doesn't spend
- 27:02Speaker 1: that much time with them. I think that they know
- 27:04Speaker 1: this is nothing.
- 27:05Speaker 2: They have to go back to him because Zorro is popular.
- 27:08Speaker 1: But I don't get the feeling that the show thinks
- 27:13Speaker 1: this is interesting and it doesn't spend too much time,
- 27:16Speaker 1: so that's something anyway, And then we have Elizabella pop
- 27:21Speaker 1: up this dude who you know? If he saves up
- 27:24Speaker 1: his punch, he has like that one super powerful punch,
- 27:30Speaker 1: And he asks Zoro if he needs some help and says,
- 27:34Speaker 1: King Riku's an old friend. I hope to restore him
- 27:37Speaker 1: to power. I'm charged and ready. I can unleash my
- 27:41Speaker 1: king punch once per hour. Have you figured out how
- 27:45Speaker 1: that stone giant's ability works? Zorro says, yeah, a long
- 27:50Speaker 1: time ago. And he says, then tell me and I'll
- 27:53Speaker 1: finish him off. And Zorro says, sorry, pal, but I
- 27:56Speaker 1: want to beat him myself. Hold on to that trump
- 27:59Speaker 1: car of yours. We still don't know what's to come.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I there was such just something about hey, let me
- 28:12Speaker 1: jump on in there, and Zoro just being like, no, no, no,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I want to do it, when I am so very
- 28:18Speaker 1: much at the point of like, oh, let it, and
- 28:22Speaker 1: I just wanted to slap and shake him there. You know,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I appreciate that this is for Zora's own personal gratification,
- 28:29Speaker 1: that's fine, but I definitely was like thinking for a
- 28:34Speaker 1: moment that this guy was going to come in and
- 28:35Speaker 1: do a punch and fucking put us all out of
- 28:38Speaker 1: our misery.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Here, and then Zoro just flat.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Out refuses to, like, you know, take any help, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: I was going, oh, come on, so anyway, Uh this dude,
- 28:51Speaker 1: I guess we are just sort of keeping him in
- 28:53Speaker 1: the wings because I'm assuming this like battle isn't going
- 28:59Speaker 1: to go on for more than another hour or so,
- 29:01Speaker 1: so we probably just want to have this one punch
- 29:05Speaker 1: saved up and not use it up here and assume
- 29:08Speaker 1: that he can use it again later.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Which I guess makes sense. So Piica turns.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Up again, Elizabella hops away and says, I'll leave you
- 29:19Speaker 1: to it.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Zorro says, you big stupid rock.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Whatever you're plotting, it won't work, and Pika just does
- 29:28Speaker 1: this weird, creepy little laugh, and then we jump over
- 29:33Speaker 1: to another boring fight between Diamante and uh, oh my god,
- 29:42Speaker 1: not Kiros.
- 29:44Speaker 2: What is his name?
- 29:45Speaker 1: No, it is Kiros, Yes, So I don't want to
- 29:52Speaker 1: spend very much time on this. This is just the
- 29:56Speaker 1: Diamante continuing to needle him about having killed his wife.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Kiros standing on one foot on a ground that is
- 30:05Speaker 1: like rippling all over the place, and this guy saying,
- 30:10Speaker 1: I am so glad that your daughter is still alive.
- 30:14Speaker 1: So that I get to kill her because I had
- 30:16Speaker 1: so much fun killing your wife. This is gonna be awesome.
- 30:20Speaker 1: And overall, two out of three, no, two out of ten.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I feel like pretty let down at the fact that
- 30:36Speaker 1: there hasn't been more done with Kiros and Rebecca. At
- 30:41Speaker 1: this point, we were like in a promising place with
- 30:45Speaker 1: them in terms of their relationship to the overall story
- 30:49Speaker 1: and everything, and the way that they were moving things,
- 30:52Speaker 1: along with Kiros being the only toy that wasn't under
- 30:56Speaker 1: their control. There were just a lot of things that
- 30:59Speaker 1: were interesting about this whole setup, and it was like,
- 31:03Speaker 1: once those things got revealed, all of the interest that
- 31:11Speaker 1: I had in them just evaporated, because it seems like
- 31:15Speaker 1: it was really much more the mystery of what was
- 31:18Speaker 1: going on with them that was keeping the story going,
- 31:23Speaker 1: rather than them as characters actually being compelling.
- 31:29Speaker 2: And I.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Like, Rebecca is off to the side literally asking her
- 31:40Speaker 1: dad to let her fight, and her dad is yelling
- 31:45Speaker 1: back at her, no, this is my penance. I want
- 31:51Speaker 1: to do this to make up for letting your mother die,
- 31:55Speaker 1: and I want my daughter to live in peace and
- 31:59Speaker 1: never swim a sword again. I cannot emphasize enough how
- 32:08Speaker 1: foolish this feels when his daughter barely was fighting to
- 32:12Speaker 1: begin with. If she had turned into a killing machine,
- 32:18Speaker 1: that would be one thing I would have been into it.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Her just kind of turning.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Into like this bloodthirsty I'm gonna fucking take him down
- 32:26Speaker 1: any means necessary, and him being like, she did what
- 32:31Speaker 1: she needed to do to stay alive, but now I'm
- 32:35Speaker 1: going to take that off her plate so that she
- 32:37Speaker 1: isn't just you know, surviving to survive. I feel like
- 32:45Speaker 1: this would have had such a better, bigger impact, But
- 32:50Speaker 1: instead his daughter didn't fight anyway. She just ducked and
- 32:54Speaker 1: dodged and made people fall into the water, and then
- 32:57Speaker 1: him saying so that she never has to swing a
- 33:00Speaker 1: sword again. It's like she I get that it's supposed
- 33:08Speaker 1: to feel like this because she was fighting in the arena.
- 33:11Speaker 1: It's supposed to feel like he saw her have to
- 33:14Speaker 1: become a gladiator and hated every minute of it and
- 33:19Speaker 1: is trying to make up for it.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Now.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I get what it is supposed to be, but it
- 33:25Speaker 1: does not feel that way.
- 33:28Speaker 2: That's the problem. A lot of times.
- 33:31Speaker 1: That's what it is like with story beats, where it's
- 33:33Speaker 1: it's less about whether it is written to be a
- 33:36Speaker 1: thing and much more about whether it actually connects emotionally.
- 33:41Speaker 2: And I don't feel.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Like Rebecca ever really sacrificed any part of herself to survive.
- 33:49Speaker 1: She managed to survive while still adhering to I don't
- 33:53Speaker 1: want to kill anybody. She managed to pull that off,
- 33:57Speaker 1: which is remarkable. But it makes what he says here
- 34:02Speaker 1: just feel very self serving and like it's just all
- 34:05Speaker 1: about his own ego, and I did not care for it,
- 34:09Speaker 1: and I just don't like him, so this whole thing,
- 34:12Speaker 1: and plus dian Monte is just so excessive with the
- 34:18Speaker 1: whole way that he's like taunting him about killing his
- 34:23Speaker 1: wife and everything, like it's just a very like cartoonish
- 34:29Speaker 1: mustache twirling villain sort of thing, and it makes him
- 34:36Speaker 1: really boring. It just feels like we have two of
- 34:40Speaker 1: the most dull versions of hero and villain characters in
- 34:46Speaker 1: the same scenes together up against each other, and each
- 34:50Speaker 1: of them is a complete polar opposite of the other,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and there's nothing interesting in their dialogue. They're not even
- 34:59Speaker 1: really hearing you.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Each other, you know.
- 35:00Speaker 1: It's like it just it's the worst of both worlds,
- 35:04Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. So let's see Saraphim says about Zoropika.
- 35:11Speaker 1: It didn't necessarily go faster in the manga, but we
- 35:13Speaker 1: didn't keep getting these random cutaways to the fight with
- 35:16Speaker 1: nothing happening to make it feel so dragged out instead
- 35:18Speaker 1: of just going on in the background. The other thing
- 35:20Speaker 1: going on is Kiro's greatest regret is having killed a person,
- 35:24Speaker 1: and he's desperate to make sure that his child never
- 35:26Speaker 1: deals with having to do that. I am going to
- 35:30Speaker 1: be honest, Seraphim, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Kiro's greatest regret regret is having killed a person, and
- 35:40Speaker 1: he's desperate to make sure his child never deals with
- 35:43Speaker 1: having to do that. Who did he kill? That's his
- 35:46Speaker 1: greatest regret. I don't even remember this, and I believe you.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Just to be clear, I am saying that isn't really
- 35:56Speaker 1: how like maybe maybe it's a he even pops up
- 36:00Speaker 1: in this dialogue, and I was so uninterested that I
- 36:04Speaker 1: didn't even catch it. But I absolutely did not register
- 36:11Speaker 1: that as a motivation at all for the record, not
- 36:16Speaker 1: even in my vision. So if that's so, I would
- 36:22Speaker 1: really appreciate that being like much more front and center.
- 36:27Speaker 2: You know, like and earlier on.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Because Rebecca her thing is that she didn't want to
- 36:36Speaker 1: have to fight, and she like, so what would have
- 36:40Speaker 1: been more interesting is instead of what he does, which
- 36:44Speaker 1: is she he tries to get her to fight, she
- 36:47Speaker 1: says she doesn't want to have to hurt anybody, and
- 36:50Speaker 1: so he teaches her how to fight without hurting people.
- 36:53Speaker 1: It would have been interesting if he had killed somebody,
- 36:57Speaker 1: regretted it and then wanted to teach her how to
- 37:00Speaker 1: defend herself without killing people, and that was what he
- 37:03Speaker 1: taught her because of his own thing, rather than it
- 37:07Speaker 1: just being her unwillingness to hurt people. And maybe she
- 37:13Speaker 1: does eventually have to hurt somebody because she get put
- 37:16Speaker 1: in the fucking position that she did, and you know, like,
- 37:20Speaker 1: there's just so many more interesting ways to do all
- 37:25Speaker 1: of that, and it just feels like it was all
- 37:28Speaker 1: an afterthought kind of. So we have a brief cutaway
- 37:35Speaker 1: to Sabo, who's just like on the street giving people
- 37:37Speaker 1: soup in a very kind of silly moment. Honestly, I
- 37:41Speaker 1: was just like, where are you getting this? Do you
- 37:43Speaker 1: have a soup kitchen somewhere? You're just bouncing around with
- 37:46Speaker 1: bowls soup for random people on the street.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I guess whatever.
- 37:51Speaker 1: And there's a moment where he looks up and he
- 37:56Speaker 1: hears that Loofy is up there fighting Bellamy and he's like,
- 38:02Speaker 1: all right, I guess I better go and help him,
- 38:05Speaker 1: and we jump back into Lufy and Bellamy, so we
- 38:09Speaker 1: get the thing last episode I said, I hope that
- 38:12Speaker 1: it's like Bellamy is doing all of this and instead
- 38:15Speaker 1: of hurting Lufy, he's actually going to use it against
- 38:18Speaker 1: Do Flamingo. But no, it is the Sopranos thing where
- 38:23Speaker 1: even after.
- 38:23Speaker 2: All of this, the.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Whole like he just feels like despite here's the part
- 38:35Speaker 1: that I keep getting stuck on.
- 38:38Speaker 2: What he says.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Is, I'm not going to be disloyal. I am not
- 38:47Speaker 1: going to turn on them after getting fired. But I
- 38:53Speaker 1: just really need to point out you weren't fired. You
- 38:58Speaker 1: weren't hired. Like he thinks that he was hired because
- 39:03Speaker 1: they let him fly their flag, but like, in my opinion,
- 39:09Speaker 1: that's really not what that meant.
- 39:11Speaker 2: That was you.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Being fobbed off because they didn't want to deal with
- 39:18Speaker 1: you in that moment, and so they just kind of went, yeah.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I guess whatever.
- 39:23Speaker 1: And it's sort of embarrassing to see him act as
- 39:28Speaker 1: if he was part of things and owes them something
- 39:32Speaker 1: when I think nobody really saw you as part of
- 39:38Speaker 1: things in the first place. My guy, I hate to
- 39:43Speaker 1: say it, but I'm gonna say it. So it's just
- 39:46Speaker 1: like this whole attitude is just very heartbreaking and sorry
- 39:56Speaker 1: Saraphi is in the chat talking about heros. It was
- 39:58Speaker 1: during the main backstory of what got him made a
- 40:00Speaker 1: gladiator in the first place. Oh okay, so it was
- 40:03Speaker 1: that long ago. Yeah, like that does not that's not
- 40:06Speaker 1: even I'm not even that does not like remind me
- 40:10Speaker 1: very much. I don't remember that much about the circumstances.
- 40:13Speaker 1: So yeah, not just not well done. And then Bellamy
- 40:19Speaker 1: is going full willful sunk cost fallacy about this stupid
- 40:23Speaker 1: but realistically so yeah, some cost fallacy is a good
- 40:28Speaker 1: way of putting it, because that really is it.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You know. He just seems to think that, like.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I, if I turn on them, then everything that I
- 40:37Speaker 1: have attempted to accomplish will have been meaningless and I
- 40:43Speaker 1: can't allow that. So I am going to make it
- 40:48Speaker 1: mean something by sticking it out till the end. But
- 40:51Speaker 1: it's like, bruh, you dying here doesn't make that more meaningful.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It doesn't.
- 40:59Speaker 1: He believes it does. And he says something about how
- 41:07Speaker 1: like if I were to turn on them now, I'd
- 41:10Speaker 1: be worse than a failure. I'd be a total disgrace,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and oh my god, like I really cannot I can't
- 41:21Speaker 1: disagree more with that whole statement. Just the idea that
- 41:27Speaker 1: somehow dying for a cause that doesn't even want you
- 41:32Speaker 1: means that you have somehow accomplished something like. It's agonizing.
- 41:38Speaker 1: It's very very sad. But Bellamy is stupid. He's not
- 41:43Speaker 1: a smart character, and Lufy is like trying to get
- 41:48Speaker 1: him to fucking knock it off. Bellamy is literally bleeding
- 41:53Speaker 1: on him. He's like trying to intimidate Loofy in these moments,
- 41:56Speaker 1: bouncing around him, and not only is he not Loufy,
- 42:01Speaker 1: he's getting his own blood on Lufy by bouncing around
- 42:04Speaker 1: like this. It's just, oh my god, humiliating. So then
- 42:09Speaker 1: we go over to Law and uh.
- 42:14Speaker 2: And do Flamingo.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Law is like at one point trying to like, you know,
- 42:24Speaker 1: go get his sword and do something do. Flamingo comes
- 42:29Speaker 1: up on him, knocks him down, stomps on the arm
- 42:31Speaker 1: that he has left, and is just like, I don't
- 42:35Speaker 1: get it. Dude, your attempt at revenge isn't going to happen.
- 42:40Speaker 2: You have to know that.
- 42:41Speaker 1: So like, if you do, you want to die, because
- 42:45Speaker 1: if you do, then I'll just make sure that you
- 42:48Speaker 1: die really slow. Whatever it is that you want, we're
- 42:52Speaker 1: gonna not give it to you. That's gonna be the
- 42:54Speaker 1: fun of it. And so we get this sequence of
- 42:58Speaker 1: him and Treble basically just like torturing and toying with
- 43:04Speaker 1: Law until eventually Law does room and does like an
- 43:11Speaker 1: electrical attack on Do Flamingo, and it's I really thought
- 43:17Speaker 1: that it was gonna like be something. Do Flamingo seems
- 43:21Speaker 1: almost unaffected by it, and he says, well, you still
- 43:26Speaker 1: got a little fight in you, so and he says
- 43:28Speaker 1: have a little fall bright, and we see the strings
- 43:32Speaker 1: go through laws middle as if he got pierced by
- 43:36Speaker 1: swords from behind. It's weird, though, because when he lands,
- 43:41Speaker 1: there's no blood and there's no holes. There's nothing that
- 43:45Speaker 1: really makes it look like those things pierced him. So
- 43:48Speaker 1: I couldn't tell if it was just supposed to feel
- 43:50Speaker 1: that way, because as far as I understand, it's actual
- 43:53Speaker 1: physical threads that are doing the things that do Flamingo
- 43:58Speaker 1: is the you know what I'm saying. So like I
- 44:02Speaker 1: just expected to see injuries there and I didn't. And
- 44:07Speaker 1: I couldn't tell if that was like a mean misunderstanding
- 44:09Speaker 1: the way that attack worked, or if it was about
- 44:13Speaker 1: the animation just like being a little bit inconsistent about
- 44:18Speaker 1: the injuries themselves, you know. So finally we get to
- 44:25Speaker 1: a point where Lufy is being beat up by Bellamy,
- 44:28Speaker 1: and it's not even like he's like he's just sort
- 44:30Speaker 1: of allowing it because he doesn't want to fight back.
- 44:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It's not really feeling to me like he's getting beaten.
- 44:36Speaker 1: It's that Lufy isn't going to fucking go up against
- 44:41Speaker 1: a dude who is in this state, which is just
- 44:45Speaker 1: fucking moral of him, you know. So we have the
- 44:54Speaker 1: brief return to law. He is being told by do
- 45:01Speaker 1: Flamingo to rest for a bit because they still want
- 45:04Speaker 1: to keep torturing him, I guess.
- 45:07Speaker 2: And then we go over to Gladius.
- 45:14Speaker 1: Gladius turns the whole area that they are standing on
- 45:20Speaker 1: into a series of bombs. It's a wild attack that
- 45:35Speaker 1: I just don't like. It's just it's too much. It's
- 45:41Speaker 1: too much in that it's an opee kind of power,
- 45:47Speaker 1: but also it doesn't ever really like, you know, when
- 45:52Speaker 1: people don't die from these apparently very intense attacks, it's
- 45:57Speaker 1: hard for me to like take them that seriously. So
- 46:04Speaker 1: Cavendish he is trying to be like, fight, don't make
- 46:09Speaker 1: me wait, Let's do this, and Gladius does this thing
- 46:13Speaker 1: where he makes the whole place a series of bombs,
- 46:18Speaker 1: and Cavendish sees Bartolomeo behind his barrier and demands that
- 46:29Speaker 1: he'd be let through because otherwise he's going to die
- 46:32Speaker 1: from this explosion. Bartolomeo does not want to let him
- 46:36Speaker 1: through because he is worried about Robin's well being and
- 46:40Speaker 1: his own, but honestly, I really do think that is
- 46:42Speaker 1: genuinely a secondary consideration for him. And at first he
- 46:48Speaker 1: doesn't want to let Cavendish through, and then finally, at
- 46:51Speaker 1: the very last second, he lets him through and then says,
- 46:55Speaker 1: if you'd been stuck out there, that would have wiped
- 46:57Speaker 1: you out for sure, and Cavendish kicks him in the
- 47:00Speaker 1: head and it's like, then, why did you wait until
- 47:03Speaker 1: the last second? I could have died, And Bartolomeo says,
- 47:08Speaker 1: how about a thank you since I saved your life,
- 47:10Speaker 1: and he's like I've been out there fighting, so where's
- 47:13Speaker 1: my fucking thank you? It is kind of a funny fight.
- 47:16Speaker 1: I actually did sort of like this a little bit.
- 47:20Speaker 1: They have a face to face moment and it was
- 47:21Speaker 1: a very like sort of now kiss, and then he says, Okay,
- 47:25Speaker 1: then let me.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Out of here. We need to win.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Bartolomeo is just like, wow, I just let you in
- 47:33Speaker 1: and you already want to leave, Like that's kind of rude.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Don't you think?
- 47:37Speaker 1: It made me think of like how I get with
- 47:38Speaker 1: my cat sometimes. So he lets Caven to shout and
- 47:45Speaker 1: they still continue to fight. Bartolomeo sticks his tongue out
- 47:49Speaker 1: at him. Cavendish disappears into the smoke, and as he disappears,
- 47:56Speaker 1: he Bartolomeo realizes like, oh, oh my god, is miss Robin. Okay,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I forgot I lost track of her for a second.
- 48:04Speaker 1: We see that she is still running up the cliff face,
- 48:07Speaker 1: which I just want to say again, what she's doing
- 48:12Speaker 1: is she's sticking out her own legs from the cliff
- 48:14Speaker 1: face and then using them as steps. I just think
- 48:17Speaker 1: it would be much easier to make giant hands that
- 48:20Speaker 1: carry you up. You could just go on a straight
- 48:23Speaker 1: line vertically and probably be up there in like an
- 48:28Speaker 1: eighth of the time, but you know, nobody asked me so.
- 48:33Speaker 1: And as she is heading up there, we see gladyas
- 48:38Speaker 1: zeroing in and he calls her a cunning little tramp,
- 48:42Speaker 1: which I was like, goddamn, that was some language there.
- 48:47Speaker 1: So he shoots a couple of uh he does catapult pop,
- 48:53Speaker 1: Bartilameo sends up a barrier that looks just like a
- 48:58Speaker 1: ping pong ball paddle, and it was very very funny
- 49:01Speaker 1: to me, And Bartolomeo says the rest can suck it,
- 49:07Speaker 1: but new an't laying a finger on Robin, And Robin
- 49:12Speaker 1: looks down at Bartolomeo and says, thank you, rooster and
- 49:18Speaker 1: winks at him, and he has a moment. Yeah, that's stuff.
- 49:26Speaker 2: She was totally like, thanks, little rooster. You can be
- 49:30Speaker 2: my sleeve.
- 49:30Speaker 1: I'll even step on you if you be.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Guys.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I don't remember if he has said he wants her
- 49:41Speaker 1: to step on him before where if I said that
- 49:44Speaker 1: he wants her to step on him, But somebody said it,
- 49:47Speaker 1: And I just love that.
- 49:48Speaker 2: It's like.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Fucking explicitly stated, because that was already how I felt
- 49:54Speaker 1: about it. I this, oh, this got me. This really
- 50:05Speaker 1: got me bad. This just cracked me up so much,
- 50:10Speaker 1: and he tells himself, got to keep that one in
- 50:13Speaker 1: the realm of fantasy, which I will say, as much
- 50:16Speaker 1: as Bartolomeo is like an unmitigated fanboy and just goes
- 50:21Speaker 1: hard with his like worship, he does have self awareness
- 50:26Speaker 1: around it and tries to keep it cool as much
- 50:28Speaker 1: as he possibly can. And I appreciate that about him,
- 50:32Speaker 1: I really do so. Anyway, I do love too that
- 50:39Speaker 1: as he's doing all of this and sort of celebrating,
- 50:42Speaker 1: we back up and we get to see that the
- 50:44Speaker 1: barrier he has erected around himself is like a silhouette,
- 50:48Speaker 1: a large silhouette of him. So while he's dancing, the
- 50:51Speaker 1: barrier is also dancing, which I hadn't realized that it
- 50:55Speaker 1: like would follow his movements in that way, and that
- 50:59Speaker 1: was fun. So then we have Cavendish coming up to
- 51:05Speaker 1: Gladias and starting to attack him, but then a bunch
- 51:10Speaker 1: of the other pirates are yelling like, hey, Gladias, we
- 51:13Speaker 1: got a problem here, and we turn around and we
- 51:16Speaker 1: see that Bartolomeo has his barrier up, his arms crossed
- 51:23Speaker 1: in front of him, and he says, barrier bulls and
- 51:27Speaker 1: is doing a sort of bulldozer motion and his eyes
- 51:31Speaker 1: have turned bright red and he says, thanks, miss Robin.
- 51:35Speaker 1: All it takes is one little wink in my heart
- 51:37Speaker 1: lights up like an inferno. So he's like scooping everybody
- 51:43Speaker 1: toward the edge of the plateau. I guess, of course,
- 51:46Speaker 1: Cavendish is very annoyed because he is supposed to be
- 51:50Speaker 1: Bartolomeo's ally, and he bart is not making any distinctions
- 51:55Speaker 1: between enemies and friends right now. He is just like,
- 51:58Speaker 1: I'm too jazzed. I there's no stopping this train. Caven
- 52:04Speaker 1: Dish says, hit the emergency brake, and he says, no
- 52:07Speaker 1: can do. And I forgot about this moment. There's a
- 52:15Speaker 1: fucking Dellinger is literally just standing off to the side
- 52:18Speaker 1: watching this whole thing. I totally like, just incredibly uninvolved,
- 52:24Speaker 1: asking if Gladias is going for a jog, like, oh
- 52:30Speaker 1: my god. And it's here that I see a fin
- 52:36Speaker 1: sticking out of Dellinger's back, which I don't think that
- 52:40Speaker 1: we have seen before. And I said something about how
- 52:43Speaker 1: he was called like a fish person in one of
- 52:48Speaker 1: the summaries under the episodes, and I said, like, I
- 52:51Speaker 1: don't remember that. There's nothing really fish like about him.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I don't think I knew that. This is the first
- 52:57Speaker 1: time I remember seeing this fin I might be about this,
- 53:00Speaker 1: But then later we get like a real good look
- 53:02Speaker 1: at his fishiness and it is extremely creepy. So he
- 53:10Speaker 1: gets involved in this fight with the dude who I
- 53:14Speaker 1: cannot remember his name, but he has a really weird
- 53:19Speaker 1: like it's like they're shoulder pads, but I think that
- 53:26Speaker 1: they are actually extensions of his arms that go upward
- 53:31Speaker 1: in a bat like fashion. I don't know, but this
- 53:37Speaker 1: dude and Dellinger fight, and I'm going to just summarize
- 53:40Speaker 1: this because it goes on a long time. This guy
- 53:44Speaker 1: beats the ever loving shit out of.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Shoulder pads.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Dellinger is extremely scary to me, honestly, Like there have
- 53:57Speaker 1: been a few times where I've said how unnerving I
- 53:59Speaker 1: feel him, But overall this scene really cemented for me, Like,
- 54:07Speaker 1: here is a guy that I want no parts of,
- 54:10Speaker 1: and there is a single moment where shoulder pads seems
- 54:13Speaker 1: to be like about to maybe get the better of him,
- 54:16Speaker 1: and Dellinger's teeth pop out. His fish teeth come out
- 54:25Speaker 1: that are very pointy and horrible.
- 54:28Speaker 2: And he.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Takes a bite out of this guy's shoulder and his
- 54:33Speaker 1: eyes get huge and red, and then he has all
- 54:37Speaker 1: this like blood dripping from his mouth. He is so
- 54:40Speaker 1: freaky looking, like no, no, no, no, I do not
- 54:45Speaker 1: like him. Dellinger thumbs down forever, please stay out of everything.
- 54:51Speaker 2: I don't like you. So later on it seems like
- 54:58Speaker 2: he's trying to catch up to Gladia.
- 55:00Speaker 1: He's like going into the battlefield area and is looking
- 55:04Speaker 1: around like, where is everybody, Gladias, where did you go?
- 55:10Speaker 2: And you just hear people.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Screaming, and Dellinger is clearly like, what wait, what's going on?
- 55:17Speaker 1: And you just see these pirates getting mowed down, but
- 55:21Speaker 1: the person actually doing it you don't see. Gladias yells Dellinger.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Get the fuck out of here. Something's really really wrong.
- 55:31Speaker 2: You need to leave.
- 55:33Speaker 1: And Dellinger's like, dude, you and me together, nobody is
- 55:37Speaker 1: gonna take us out. Come on, let's do this, and
- 55:40Speaker 1: then he like bows backward. We see this gout of
- 55:46Speaker 1: blood come up, and then we see the face of
- 55:51Speaker 1: Cavendish's alter ego. I had forgotten all about this guy,
- 55:57Speaker 1: Hakuba I you guys, this animation is s tier like
- 56:13Speaker 1: it's so wild. How unnerving. Dellinger just was a moment
- 56:20Speaker 1: ago with all of those pointy teeth and the red eyes.
- 56:25Speaker 1: And then you go to Hakuba, who has no pupils,
- 56:28Speaker 1: no irises, no teeth, He's got none of the things,
- 56:33Speaker 1: and he is so much for here for it. I
- 56:36Speaker 1: just really liked the contrast between the two of them
- 56:39Speaker 1: and how totally opposite their faces are, and how one
- 56:43Speaker 1: of them is just exponentially more upsetting. And I got
- 56:50Speaker 1: very excited right away because Hakuba, having forgotten about him,
- 56:53Speaker 1: I was like, oh yeah, let's fucking see what this
- 56:55Speaker 1: guy can do here. Like I was into it, and
- 57:01Speaker 1: Dellinger is flipped out and it's just like, wait, who
- 57:05Speaker 1: are you even It's like you're a monster. And hakubuck
- 57:11Speaker 1: goes up and like you just see all of these
- 57:13Speaker 1: strikes on Dellinger, but you never actually see Hakuba. And
- 57:19Speaker 1: then Dellinger just goes down and as he hits the ground,
- 57:22Speaker 1: Hakuba is like thirty feet away already. It's really something.
- 57:26Speaker 1: I really loved this.
- 57:29Speaker 2: So then to uh wrap up this.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Whole thing, we get a pretty funny sequence where Bartel Mayo,
- 57:40Speaker 1: who is inside a cylinder barrier, is watching this and
- 57:45Speaker 1: is just like, what in the fuck is happening, and
- 57:49Speaker 1: he finally remembers, oh wait, something like this was like
- 57:54Speaker 1: happened in the arena. It was cavendish, but that is
- 57:59Speaker 1: not his face. What is happening? And finally Hakuba comes
- 58:06Speaker 1: up to the cylinder and tries to slice him to ribbons.
- 58:14Speaker 1: Bartelomeo is feeling extremely smug because this guy does not
- 58:19Speaker 1: get through the barrier, but then he notices Hakuba looking
- 58:24Speaker 1: upward at the hole at the top of the cylinder,
- 58:27Speaker 1: and it's just like, oh shit, and he has to
- 58:29Speaker 1: close it up. He like twists it like it's a
- 58:31Speaker 1: candy wrapper, and he's trying to reason with Hakuba, who
- 58:36Speaker 1: does not speak. His face doesn't change at all, and
- 58:41Speaker 1: he is just willing to camp out inside this cylinder
- 58:45Speaker 1: until he sees Hakuba looking over at Robin, and once
- 58:51Speaker 1: he realizes this guy is going after his girl, he's
- 58:53Speaker 1: just like, oh, absolutely the fuck not. And honestly, I
- 58:59Speaker 1: was in it because him just being able to stay
- 59:01Speaker 1: inside the cylinder. It was very funny to see him
- 59:04Speaker 1: just kind of being like, hey, buddy, you in there,
- 59:07Speaker 1: seventh and cool. But he finally drops the barrier and
- 59:11Speaker 1: he tries to jump Hakuba, but Hakaba is like the
- 59:17Speaker 1: speed of light, so he jumps lands on nothing. Hakuba
- 59:22Speaker 1: is already halfway up the face of the cliff and
- 59:24Speaker 1: he is coming at Robin, who sees him. But like again,
- 59:28Speaker 1: he is so fast, and so what she does is
- 59:32Speaker 1: she has her arms come out of his body and
- 59:36Speaker 1: wrap him up so that he can't keep moving. He
- 59:41Speaker 1: like is in mid air and she has two giant
- 59:45Speaker 1: hands come out of the cliff face and completely envelope him,
- 59:50Speaker 1: basically putting him in a kind of like weird straight jacket.
- 59:57Speaker 1: And Bartolomeo starts crying in relief, Eve and it's like
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I was so scared for a second, but that was
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: a dope move. That was like really awesome. Bartie l Mayo,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: please be my best friend. I really want a wanted
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: poster of him. And Robin says to him, Oh, poor cabbage,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: did you need something? And that's the end of the episode,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: which was a wild place for it to leave off,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: like a really weird choice. But honestly, I loved it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I really did. This whole thing is fun. What a
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: weird guy?
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I just.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: This is this is a fun development. I like this
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: a lot.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Oh my god, Sara from says feared Dellinger the death
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Twink Death Twink exactly.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: That's exactly it.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: So yeah, anyway, guys, I really really enjoyed these episodes
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: a lot, and uh, I'm just so delighted with the arc,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: you know, I really really am. There have been some
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: some low points here and there, but for the most part,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: I have been very pleasantly surprised, like consistently, So all right,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I'm going to wrap this one up, but thank you
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: guys again for listening, Thank you Florian for commissioning this one,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: thank you for Sarahan for joining me in the chat,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: and until next week to the Loo motherfuckers. That was
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: an unspoiled Network podcast.
