Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Tis the season in USA.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Today's Bob nightingale Ft Insider. Here with us and Bob,
- 0:13Speaker 2: we have a lot to hit. Let's start with your
- 0:15Speaker 2: seven potential all stars who could soon switch teams, and
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'll do a theme to start here. So mix in
- 0:21Speaker 2: your schoobl prediction along with your thoughts on the overall
- 0:24Speaker 2: starting pitching market, Bob. That includes potentially Sonny Gray, maybe
- 0:28Speaker 2: Eduardo Rodriguez, maybe Jose Soriano. What do you think of
- 0:32Speaker 2: some of the upper tier starting pitchers schoobl in a
- 0:35Speaker 2: class of the zone.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I know, yeah, I think that guys like read Deeptmers
- 0:40Speaker 1: for instance.
- 0:40Speaker 3: You know now with John Boziliak, he's got to talk
- 0:44Speaker 3: Ardy Marino went too it, but he's got two plus
- 0:46Speaker 3: years left in the control. So I think you get
- 0:48Speaker 3: a ton for dept Meers, same thing as Sarriano. I
- 0:51Speaker 3: think you get a ton for u Soriano as well.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You know, Gray's just entermental. Freddy Peralta is just oriental,
- 0:57Speaker 3: same as school ball. But I particularly think that, you know,
- 1:00Speaker 3: if the Angels can convince Aredy Mareno to the sale,
- 1:03Speaker 3: I think Dets and sorry, I don't you know, get
- 1:06Speaker 3: a ton.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Back, Bob, What does that mean though, because didn't already
- 1:09Speaker 4: already come out, so he's not trading these guys. Didn't
- 1:12Speaker 4: he already come out, didn't they say? Now, I know
- 1:13Speaker 4: that was Manesian there, but can John Mozaylac talk him
- 1:17Speaker 4: into doing something like this because Arty Moreno hasn't in
- 1:19Speaker 4: the past been willing to make a move like that,
- 1:22Speaker 4: even though the Angels have stunk forever.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see. I mean, why did John and Mosere
- 1:27Speaker 1: let go there?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Unless you know he was told that, Okay, you can
- 1:30Speaker 3: have some autonomy here, you can make some moves, So
- 1:33Speaker 3: we'll see. Otherwise you might as well just let you
- 1:35Speaker 3: know Perry running out to the animous contract at the
- 1:38Speaker 3: end of the season. So I think it'd be very
- 1:41Speaker 3: interesting to see, Okay, can we spend money here? Can
- 1:44Speaker 3: we put money back into the infrastructure? And do we
- 1:47Speaker 3: move these guys? And I'm not sure you want to
- 1:49Speaker 3: move Debt versus Serniano because you have two and half
- 1:52Speaker 3: years of control.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You can certainly do it later on.
- 1:55Speaker 3: But being set to seller's market, and I think these
- 1:59Speaker 3: teams are gonna get it to whoever starts selling.
- 2:02Speaker 5: All right, Well, the biggest seller from last year was
- 2:05Speaker 5: the Twins. Where does Joe Ryan sit with the twins
- 2:09Speaker 5: kind of in that muddled American league.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, with the with.
- 2:14Speaker 3: The owner Joe Poland, I think they want to kind
- 2:17Speaker 3: of stay put in uh and go for this thing.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You imagine if they had kept you know, DuRane and Barlin.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I mean Barlin.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I don't know why they trade him as a homegrown kid,
- 2:26Speaker 3: you know, right in the Twin Cities. He still had
- 2:29Speaker 3: what five years of control, so that would made no sense.
- 2:34Speaker 3: But yeah, if they have both those guys, who knows,
- 2:36Speaker 3: they might be leaving the al Central. So I think
- 2:40Speaker 3: here in the ownership group is like, hey, we gotta
- 2:42Speaker 3: get the bands back and everything else. Maybe they don't
- 2:44Speaker 3: want to trade a a Joe Ryan. They're certainly not
- 2:47Speaker 3: trading Buckston. Buckson doesn't want to go anywhere anyway. Do
- 2:51Speaker 3: they trade a Royce Lewis?
- 2:53Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I think right now, if they stay where they are,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you know, within five four games, I think they stay
- 2:59Speaker 3: stay pet.
- 3:01Speaker 4: We all know the White Sox are winning the Central,
- 3:03Speaker 4: So you watch your mouth when you talk about your
- 3:05Speaker 4: twins like that.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Okay, Bill, what about the Red Sox?
- 3:11Speaker 4: Sonny Gray has been mentioned a rule as Chapman's been mentioned,
- 3:14Speaker 4: but I thought they still believe they.
- 3:15Speaker 6: Have a team that can compete and can win.
- 3:18Speaker 4: And after they won the series against the Angels, I
- 3:20Speaker 4: think they're only five games out of the wildcard.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Would they still make a move for Sonny Gray and
- 3:24Speaker 6: would they make a move to get rid of and
- 3:27Speaker 6: a ruld as Chapman.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I think it depends how much closer they are, but
- 3:31Speaker 3: whether they still eight games below five hundred. I think
- 3:34Speaker 3: they inch closer to five hundred, and they win them
- 3:36Speaker 3: four three games, then I.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Think they must have to stay pat.
- 3:39Speaker 3: The one thing, too, is Sunny Gray's got a full
- 3:41Speaker 3: of non tray clause there's a lot of places he
- 3:43Speaker 3: doesn't want to bitch. So we'll see, you know, you
- 3:46Speaker 3: know Atlanta would love to have him. You know, he's
- 3:49Speaker 3: from the from the Midwest. Anyway, I think the White
- 3:53Speaker 3: Sox will.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Love to have him.
- 3:54Speaker 3: But you know, teams like the White Sox, you'll take
- 3:57Speaker 3: on money, but you don't want to give what top
- 3:59Speaker 3: prosps spects that go for it because they went through
- 4:02Speaker 3: the growing pains to get those prospects, So you can't
- 4:05Speaker 3: just give them up.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Just go for it for one year, but they'll take
- 4:08Speaker 1: on money for sure.
- 4:10Speaker 5: An intriguing name for me that actually has club control
- 4:13Speaker 5: for next year. Also, EDWARDO. Rodriguez is four games out
- 4:17Speaker 5: in the National League, which is good for the Diamondbacks,
- 4:20Speaker 5: enough for the Diamondbacks to possibly shed some payroll for
- 4:24Speaker 5: next year and get rid of the All Star at
- 4:26Speaker 5: Water Arigez.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's almost like a year ago, Eric, where they
- 4:31Speaker 3: were kind of the bubble. Then they played so poorly
- 4:33Speaker 3: down the stretch they thought they had a move, so
- 4:35Speaker 3: they moved Merrill Kelly and uh you know, uh you
- 4:39Speaker 3: Henni of Suarez, Josh Naylor and moved those guys.
- 4:43Speaker 1: They're kind of the same predicament. This time.
- 4:45Speaker 3: They play four games against the seven games against the
- 4:49Speaker 3: Podres and Dodgers coming up this week before the break.
- 4:52Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I mean, they're you know, they've been playing terrible and
- 4:55Speaker 3: except for everybody, uh you know, except for the was
- 4:59Speaker 3: it the Giants and the Rockies. You know, I think
- 5:01Speaker 3: they're like eleven to three against those teams, but otherwise
- 5:04Speaker 3: are like ten twelve games under five hundred. But Rodriguez,
- 5:07Speaker 3: I mean, as much as the wb cemen have hurt
- 5:10Speaker 3: some pitchers and hurt some position players. Man, he strived,
- 5:13Speaker 3: I mean he went uh you know, went nuts against
- 5:16Speaker 3: the team USA. Pitch lights out. He got so much
- 5:19Speaker 3: confidence I think from that tournament. Uh, this is the
- 5:22Speaker 3: best he's pitched in a decade.
- 5:25Speaker 4: By the way, who did you just say the Diamondbacks
- 5:27Speaker 4: play the Potters? They stink right now too, So let's
- 5:30Speaker 4: not let's not. Let's just not given like, oh, the
- 5:33Speaker 4: Padres are going to beat the Diamondbacks that The Potters
- 5:35Speaker 4: have been awful other than obviously what they lost sevenary
- 5:38Speaker 4: in a row and four last night.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, And the thing is that third wildcard spots, you know,
- 5:43Speaker 3: wide open. But you know it's almost saying, okay, if
- 5:46Speaker 3: you do get the third wildcard spot, you're on the
- 5:48Speaker 3: road for you know, best the three series. If you lose,
- 5:52Speaker 3: you don't play one home game. Are you you know,
- 5:54Speaker 3: was it really worth it to make the playoffs when
- 5:57Speaker 3: you didn't get the one game.
- 5:58Speaker 1: In front of your home fans.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Well depends on who you ask. If you ask the owners,
- 6:01Speaker 4: they're going to say, well, yeah, it was worth it
- 6:03Speaker 4: because look we.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Did everything right.
- 6:04Speaker 4: If you ask the GM, look we did everything right,
- 6:06Speaker 4: So yes, Bob, But it all depends on who you
- 6:08Speaker 4: ask and what you're what you're feeling is for the
- 6:11Speaker 4: for the whole thing, what you want to the message
- 6:13Speaker 4: you want to deliver to your fans. But there's some
- 6:14Speaker 4: other teams that are that are interesting to me. The Orioles,
- 6:17Speaker 4: the Astros, right, some of these teams that are on
- 6:20Speaker 4: the outside looking in, Will they be ultra aggressive to
- 6:23Speaker 4: try to win?
- 6:23Speaker 6: What you just said is could be the third wildcard?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah? Both teams.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Uh. You know, in the America League, I think it's
- 6:32Speaker 3: so different. If you just get in, you got a chance.
- 6:34Speaker 3: America League's wide open. There's no clear cut favorite. You're
- 6:37Speaker 3: not going through the Dodgers or Billings or Atlanta. I mean,
- 6:41Speaker 3: if you get in, you got a chance. And when
- 6:44Speaker 3: you talk to other gams, they say, okay, a lot
- 6:46Speaker 3: of times, who's gonna be most aggressive?
- 6:48Speaker 1: The gms who are on the on the hot seat.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Two gyms on a hot seat, Micha Elias and Dana Brown.
- 6:55Speaker 1: So you know, Dana Brown's contracts up at the end
- 6:57Speaker 1: of the season. I think they have to make them
- 7:00Speaker 1: for him to keep his job.
- 7:02Speaker 3: If the Oils missed out in the playoffs, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 3: is michaelias job saved? So a lot of times, I
- 7:07Speaker 3: think the most aggressive teams are the ones whose jobs
- 7:09Speaker 3: are on the line.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Cap I've been looking for the best deals for the
- 7:17Speaker 5: All Star Game tickets in Philly. Where are you gonna
- 7:20Speaker 5: get some tickets from?
- 7:21Speaker 7: I'm going straight out to rife Field. If Harper and
- 7:24Speaker 7: Schwarber both joined the home run derby, I want to
- 7:26Speaker 7: be catching the hometown guys hitting them, So I'm going
- 7:28Speaker 7: out to the right field kind of where I think
- 7:30Speaker 7: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 7:31Speaker 7: those home runs.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 7:35Speaker 5: app and you can look to see what your view
- 7:36Speaker 5: is gonna be because the boys are going to be
- 7:37Speaker 5: launching them. Jones and with over thirty five million downloads,
- 7:41Speaker 5: see Geek is the number one rated ticketing app. There
- 7:44Speaker 5: are more than seventy thousand events listed at seek, including concerts, sports, festivals,
- 7:50Speaker 5: and more. And of course I have a code for
- 7:52Speaker 5: you all. You can use the code Territory ten for
- 7:55Speaker 5: ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets at Seakeek.
- 7:58Speaker 5: That's ten percent off MLB tickets with promo code Territory ten.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Make sure you click the link in the description to
- 8:05Speaker 5: download the app and have the code automatically added to
- 8:08Speaker 5: your account so you can use it later. Thank you
- 8:10Speaker 5: to Seakeeek, and we'll see you at the game, right
- 8:13Speaker 5: The Mariners. The Mariners made some moves last year to
- 8:16Speaker 5: trade deadline. Does their trade deadline moves look different because
- 8:21Speaker 5: now this year, for some reason, they stink at defense
- 8:24Speaker 5: and they still are kind of hitting wise.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they think that hey, just our guys,
- 8:30Speaker 3: just a guy to play better. I mean, hey, rolling
- 8:32Speaker 3: hit sixty home runs last year. We knew that wasn't
- 8:34Speaker 3: going to happen again, but no one thought he had
- 8:36Speaker 3: struggled like this. But whether it's a Louis Rodriguez Rose Arena,
- 8:41Speaker 3: on and on, it hasn't worked so far.
- 8:44Speaker 1: But they still believe in those players. The pitching lights out.
- 8:47Speaker 3: I mean, once again, who wants to play the Mariners
- 8:50Speaker 3: of America League. I think they're the scariest team just
- 8:52Speaker 3: for that rotation. They can knock off any anybody. You know,
- 8:56Speaker 3: they're one game away from the World Series last year,
- 8:59Speaker 3: so I think they do some tinkering, but they don't
- 9:01Speaker 3: really need to make that, you know, big big splash.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Bob, there's one name that we mentioned. You mentioned them
- 9:08Speaker 6: at the beginning.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Will the Tigers actually trade Trek School Will it happen?
- 9:13Speaker 4: And if it does happen, will there be a revolt
- 9:15Speaker 4: in Detroit about them ay not being able to resign
- 9:18Speaker 4: them and beat them trading them, Because honestly, I know
- 9:21Speaker 4: the Tigers, Oh we're close, We're still in it. But
- 9:24Speaker 4: I mean there's still ten plus games under five hundred.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Terrek Scooba only pitches once every five days. So will
- 9:29Speaker 4: they actually pull the trigger on a deal like that?
- 9:33Speaker 3: I think they wait till like the last seventy two hours.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Aj I think they wait to the very end. If
- 9:38Speaker 3: they're with you know, three games, maybe four, I think
- 9:41Speaker 3: they almost have to stay in it. And they already
- 9:43Speaker 3: have a franchise record payroll. The fans I've shown up.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I think the fans have been so disgusted. I think
- 9:49Speaker 3: they'd take a big hit in a tenance next season
- 9:52Speaker 3: if they trade school Bo. And then one thing too
- 9:55Speaker 3: is if you make the playoffs, even if it's the
- 9:57Speaker 3: third wild card team, you got Schoolbo Ma is going
- 10:01Speaker 3: one too. You know you got you got a shot,
- 10:03Speaker 3: you got a chance to get to the World Series,
- 10:06Speaker 3: just like they had a good shot last year. So
- 10:09Speaker 3: I think they wait to the very bidder end here
- 10:11Speaker 3: to decide what to do.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Let's go to a team that is out of it
- 10:16Speaker 5: and it's the Giants. You talked about in your article
- 10:19Speaker 5: about how they want Bryce Eldred to get actual playing
- 10:23Speaker 5: time in the field. Does that make them more inclined
- 10:26Speaker 5: to push out one of those infield contracts to try
- 10:30Speaker 5: to trade him or is it still just only one
- 10:33Speaker 5: deal and that's it? And also what's changed because Bryce
- 10:36Speaker 5: Eldred when he first got called up was a platoon
- 10:40Speaker 5: advantage guy. They weren't even playing him against lefties.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Well, it's kind of a joke.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Here, here's a kid twenty one years old and you're
- 10:48Speaker 3: using him as a DH.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I mean, you're stunning his growth. It's unfair to him.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He needs a play.
- 10:53Speaker 3: I mean, obviously Devers isn't moving, but a maybe Devers
- 10:57Speaker 3: becomes a full time GH or something. I think they'll
- 10:59Speaker 3: love to move two guys, you know, Louisa Rise. He's
- 11:02Speaker 3: a free agent in the year anyway, so he makes
- 11:05Speaker 3: the most sense. I mean, he's been everything they wanted more.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Ron Washington has turned him into gorg club, his second basement.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Now. I think they like to.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Move by Uh, you know Matt Chapman too. You saw
- 11:18Speaker 3: the plays that Casia Schmidt made over over the weekend.
- 11:21Speaker 3: They like to make room. That would clear a lot
- 11:23Speaker 3: of payroll too.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Chapman's got a full known trade clause, so I'm not sure.
- 11:29Speaker 3: He'd want to go back east, but maybe still stay
- 11:32Speaker 3: out west somewhere. I think they like to move, you know,
- 11:34Speaker 3: Chapman enter Rise and just clear some stuff out. I
- 11:37Speaker 3: don't think anybody touches the Dominis, and I don't think
- 11:40Speaker 3: he's gonna touch Denvers either.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Well. Giants pivoted fast.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Well Giants pivoted fast from being a team that was
- 11:47Speaker 4: all in to a team that can't wait to get
- 11:49Speaker 4: rid of everybody they'd got in the last couple of years.
- 11:52Speaker 4: It's crazy. It's crazy how fast it still changes. All Right,
- 11:55Speaker 4: I got to ask you about the Empires. You heard
- 11:56Speaker 4: about the Empires retiring seven Empires. Bucker who everyone knows
- 12:01Speaker 4: he's famous, right, Brian o'norra, Last, das Land Sparksdale, Marvin Hudson,
- 12:05Speaker 4: Tony Rendezo, and Andy Fletcher. Are they getting rid of
- 12:08Speaker 4: the old Guard? Because these are all guys I know,
- 12:10Speaker 4: Krawts knows them. These are all guys kind of Bob
- 12:12Speaker 4: that I came up with, and I some of them
- 12:14Speaker 4: I had in the minor league, some of them I
- 12:15Speaker 4: had throughout my entire Major league career. Is MLB trying
- 12:19Speaker 4: to get rid of the old guard with some of
- 12:20Speaker 4: the new changes and some of these guys. I know
- 12:23Speaker 4: rankings aren't great, but is this a way of kind
- 12:25Speaker 4: of saying, hey, guys, thank you for your service.
- 12:27Speaker 6: We're going to go to a younger crew.
- 12:30Speaker 1: And they all volunteered for it. I guess a buyout
- 12:32Speaker 1: package was great.
- 12:33Speaker 3: You had to be fifty nine years old to even
- 12:35Speaker 3: qualify for the buyout. And I think guys too are
- 12:39Speaker 3: worried about next year. Okay, how many games are gonna miss?
- 12:42Speaker 3: What's her paycheck gonna look like? Let me get out
- 12:44Speaker 3: now before it gets into a labor war. And interesting
- 12:48Speaker 3: thing is so beginning in twenty twenty seven, whenever that
- 12:51Speaker 3: season starts, it won't be an umpire sixty years old
- 12:54Speaker 3: or older. I can't remember that ever happening. I'm sure
- 12:57Speaker 3: it must have happened sometime in baseball history, but certainly
- 13:01Speaker 3: I can't remember it happy where you don't have some
- 13:03Speaker 3: umpires in the sixties or even in the seventies. But yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 3: they are trying to kind of go younger. But these
- 13:09Speaker 3: guys are walking away in their own they're not being
- 13:12Speaker 3: forced out there, they're jumping to buy out.
- 13:15Speaker 5: Is this is this buyout thing a new thing because
- 13:17Speaker 5: I haven't heard it before, but you make it sound
- 13:20Speaker 5: like it's something that's usually offered, just not everybody takes it.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I was asking some umpires was the last time it
- 13:27Speaker 1: was big?
- 13:28Speaker 3: It said twenty twenty two, But not these many guys
- 13:31Speaker 3: and not these.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Many household names. So this is a big thing.
- 13:36Speaker 3: It's almost reminds you of back when it was it
- 13:38Speaker 3: ninety nine, you know, when they had all the umpires
- 13:40Speaker 3: resigned with the labor thing and you know that that backfired.
- 13:44Speaker 3: But just to see you seven big, big time guys
- 13:47Speaker 3: like that, a lot of crew chiefs walking away. So no,
- 13:51Speaker 3: I do think they say, you know what, it's a
- 13:52Speaker 3: young guy's game. And I think some of these veteran
- 13:55Speaker 3: umpires say, you know what, I'm tired of all this
- 13:57Speaker 3: stuff going on, and with the ABS system and everything else,
- 14:00Speaker 3: he's become a real pain. I'm not having as much fun.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Let me, let me take my money and walk away.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Smart, smart, Bob smart.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Much like Rob Manford picking Bryce Harper as the Legends picker.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Isn't that old right? He got the Legends pick?
- 14:17Speaker 4: Is this Rob Manford saying, hey man, it's cool from
- 14:20Speaker 4: what happened last year in the Phillies locker room, Like
- 14:22Speaker 4: how did this pick come about? Because again I feel
- 14:25Speaker 4: like Bryce Harper almost could have made it on his
- 14:27Speaker 4: merits alone.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he didn't make it, didn't get the
- 14:31Speaker 3: van ballot, didn't get the player ballot.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But no, I that was a stroke a genius.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Like, hey, remember when you're screaming at me last year
- 14:38Speaker 3: about the salary gap everything else, Let's say what my
- 14:41Speaker 3: guy's being? Bygones, here's an homad branch. I'm the one
- 14:44Speaker 3: that's responsible for you coming the All Star Game? What
- 14:46Speaker 3: do you have to say now? So not with you,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I would have picked Vera Lander and Serves. You know,
- 14:53Speaker 3: this could be the last year's I'm not sure you
- 14:55Speaker 3: know both of them agreed that comes the All Star Game,
- 14:57Speaker 3: but I thought that would be cool for the legend.
- 15:00Speaker 3: You know, remembers Pool Holson Cabrera back the day Kershaw
- 15:04Speaker 3: last year.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It is odd to see a guy that young being picked.
- 15:07Speaker 3: So I do think it was a stroke of pr
- 15:10Speaker 3: genius to say, hey, Bryce, you're here because I picked you.
- 15:14Speaker 1: The fans didn't pick you, the players didn't pick you,
- 15:16Speaker 1: but I did.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Do you know how that process works? Could he have?
- 15:20Speaker 5: Could he have said no thanks? This guy came into
- 15:22Speaker 5: our locker room and disrespected me. I don't want this pick.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Or is it something that if your legends pick like you,
- 15:29Speaker 5: they announced it and you're told, hey, you're going.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And I'm not sure about that answer, but I think you, uh,
- 15:38Speaker 1: I think you could have turned it down. We know
- 15:39Speaker 1: why not?
- 15:40Speaker 3: I mean obviously in his hometown and I was talking
- 15:42Speaker 3: about doing a home run derby. So I think we
- 15:44Speaker 3: would have been shocked that Harper wouldn't have made it.
- 15:47Speaker 3: But unless there were some injuries, with some replacements, he
- 15:50Speaker 3: wouldn't have just the way the process is. I mean, actually,
- 15:53Speaker 3: you know the players voted Matt Olsen over Freddie Freeman.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Was the fans that had, you know, Freeman over Olson,
- 15:59Speaker 3: but a I think we would have been shocked. You
- 16:01Speaker 3: have an All Star Game in Philadelphia without Bryce Harper? Yeah,
- 16:05Speaker 3: to have my first half.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Hey, for the families out there looking for a different
- 16:12Speaker 2: path to help your child succeed at home. Looking to
- 16:14Speaker 2: K twelve powed schools, Todd Father, you've done the homeschooling
- 16:18Speaker 2: thing in the past.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I know you liked it.
- 16:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot. All my
- 16:22Speaker 8: kids have done it before. It's an opportunity for them
- 16:25Speaker 8: to stay at home and enjoy school just as much.
- 16:29Speaker 8: They learn a lot. And this is an opportunity for
- 16:31Speaker 8: families that are on the go too as well. They
- 16:34Speaker 8: have to understand, listen, can't be at a regular school
- 16:37Speaker 8: at all times. I need my child to be doing this,
- 16:39Speaker 8: whether it's an athletic career, whatever stature they are at.
- 16:43Speaker 8: And we loved every second of it, and I think
- 16:45Speaker 8: it is an easy opportunity for some children.

- 17:07Speaker 2: twelve dot com slash foul.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Oh here here's my thing, and you're and listen it.
- 17:14Speaker 4: This doesn't really apply to to Bryce Harbor, but you
- 17:17Speaker 4: know there's gonna be eighty nine All Stars this year. Okay,
- 17:19Speaker 4: let's let's like think last year there was eighty seven
- 17:22Speaker 4: or some crazy number. Right, So so this doesn't apply
- 17:25Speaker 4: to a Bryce Harborg Orlanda or Kershaw. But when you
- 17:29Speaker 4: go to Hall of Fame vote and when you go
- 17:31Speaker 4: to salary, all Star games matter. Even though they're saying, oh,
- 17:35Speaker 4: they don't matter as much, it still matters when people say,
- 17:38Speaker 4: oh you were People say, hey, did you win a
- 17:40Speaker 4: World Series?
- 17:40Speaker 6: Were you in All Star?
- 17:41Speaker 4: How many times you go to the All Star game? Right,
- 17:43Speaker 4: So it still does matter. Has it become cheapender lesson?
- 17:46Speaker 4: Because there are so many All Stars that are not
- 17:50Speaker 4: even elected every year that just become All Stars. Vladdy
- 17:52Speaker 4: Guerrero has already turned it down, right, There's other guys
- 17:54Speaker 4: that are gonna turn it down. Buckston got hurt yesterday, right,
- 17:57Speaker 4: so he could miss. Misowski's already talking all having to
- 18:00Speaker 4: miss because he's pitching on a certain day. So has
- 18:02Speaker 4: it become lessened from an out I don't receieve, not
- 18:06Speaker 4: from all players, because it's still special for the players,
- 18:09Speaker 4: but maybe from an outside perspective.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I think in outside it's almost like, you know, you
- 18:14Speaker 3: talk to you know, players, retired players like you know
- 18:18Speaker 3: you and Eric in the sense that, look, how many
- 18:20Speaker 3: players have played in the major leagues. Now, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 3: it used to be you know, you know, nineteen thousand
- 18:24Speaker 3: up to twenty. Now it's like twenty four thousand. There's
- 18:26Speaker 3: so many guys that are coming up for cop of
- 18:28Speaker 3: coffee and then you know, you never see him again.
- 18:30Speaker 3: You know, we never seen so many players that have
- 18:33Speaker 3: played just just a game or two in the major leagues.
- 18:36Speaker 3: The All Star thing, you're right, I mean you're going
- 18:38Speaker 3: to get over eighty players.
- 18:40Speaker 1: What bonthers some guys.
- 18:42Speaker 3: Like, you know, like the managers, is that if you
- 18:45Speaker 3: beg to be an All Star and then you back out,
- 18:48Speaker 3: like okay, now I get my bonus. I don't want
- 18:50Speaker 3: to go Philadelphia. I want to get the four or
- 18:53Speaker 3: five days off. You know that sort of thing. I
- 18:55Speaker 3: know a lot of talk about Zach Wheeler, but I
- 18:57Speaker 3: think wheel are supposed to pitch on Sunday, so he
- 19:00Speaker 3: was you know, not to be able to pitch an
- 19:01Speaker 3: All Star game anyway, you know that sort of thing.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But yeah, you hate to see guys back, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: back out. I know I'm on.
- 19:08Speaker 3: They say, oh, it's you know, it's a team thing
- 19:10Speaker 3: with Blad Guerrero, you know, walking away.
- 19:13Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:13Speaker 3: But wait a minute, now, all those fans want to
- 19:15Speaker 3: see Blad in there, all the kid who want to
- 19:18Speaker 3: see Blad. I think he kind of want it to
- 19:20Speaker 3: the game to uh, you know, to be there and play.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I surely believe he should show up. If not, don't
- 19:28Speaker 3: accept that All Star bonus.
- 19:30Speaker 5: All right, So we're talking about sometimes we talk about
- 19:33Speaker 5: snubs around the All Star Game, and this is the
- 19:34Speaker 5: time and some of those guys will end up getting in.
- 19:37Speaker 5: Is there a way that they should change it? Because
- 19:41Speaker 5: all the pitchers are just starters and closers, middle relievers.
- 19:45Speaker 5: None of those guys have gotten any love on either roster.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Not saying they won't, but none of those guys. It's
- 19:51Speaker 5: only premiere position pitchers.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yees, particularly you know the great setup guys. I mean
- 19:59Speaker 3: even the Aaron Ashby, he got twelve wins. It's amazing,
- 20:03Speaker 3: could be the first reliever ever have have twenty wins.
- 20:06Speaker 3: But yeah, the setup guys, you get lost in the
- 20:08Speaker 3: shuffle here and a lot of times, hey, you can't
- 20:12Speaker 3: be a great closure unless you have a be a
- 20:13Speaker 3: great set.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Up guy like Marhone of San Diego. So yeah, I
- 20:19Speaker 1: would like to see that change.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And you know, not necessarily a designation, but I think
- 20:24Speaker 3: they made the designation because before it was, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 3: all starters pretty much, and you just have starters pit.
- 20:30Speaker 3: You know, let's face, after the first inning, they're all
- 20:32Speaker 3: pitch and relief anyway. But yeah, there's a lot of
- 20:35Speaker 3: guys that that should be there, you know, particularly uh,
- 20:38Speaker 3: you know, uh, I think Wheelners deserves to go, but
- 20:42Speaker 3: pitching on Sunday, I can see why, you know, MMB said, well,
- 20:46Speaker 3: if Vicky you're not going anyway, certainly a sunny gray
- 20:50Speaker 3: ten and one. Unbelievable what he's done for the Red Socks.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I still be surprised if he doesn't end up there.
- 20:58Speaker 4: There's so many snubs. There's so many snubs you can
- 21:00Speaker 4: get into if you want. I mean, Michael Harris, Pryce, Terranger,
- 21:03Speaker 4: the list goes on, Davis Martin, the list goes on
- 21:05Speaker 4: and on and stuff.
- 21:06Speaker 6: So but no matter how many all Stars you have,
- 21:08Speaker 6: they will always be the.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Next guy who's oh he should have made it, or
- 21:11Speaker 4: he should have it's crazy, So be happy for the
- 21:14Speaker 4: guys who got in and for the guys who didn't
- 21:15Speaker 4: get in. Hopefully you have a great first half and
- 21:18Speaker 4: you get in the next year. Bob with speaking of
- 21:20Speaker 4: the first halfs and ending poorly.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Right now, the.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Yankees, what is the Yankees' problems real? I know their
- 21:25Speaker 4: starting rotation is beat up, Judges out, Stanton's out, but
- 21:29Speaker 4: can they figure this out without making a move? Schalitler
- 21:33Speaker 4: finally got hit last time out for the first time.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Really in his career?
- 21:36Speaker 4: Are the Are the Yankees problems real? Or is this
- 21:39Speaker 4: just a blip in the radar? They seem to do
- 21:40Speaker 4: this every year around this time.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I almost thinking we should give the MVP to a
- 21:47Speaker 3: Aaron Judge again this year, just because look how bad
- 21:49Speaker 3: but valuable he is. And so I don't believe how
- 21:51Speaker 3: bad they are when this guy doesn't play. He covers
- 21:54Speaker 3: up so many flaws. But yeah, I think they should
- 21:56Speaker 3: be aggressive im and I think they should be very
- 21:58Speaker 3: aggressive and getting other late inning reliever there another bat.
- 22:03Speaker 1: For sure, but just playing so sloppy.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I know what Judge kind of calling them out the
- 22:07Speaker 3: other day, but they should be playing this poorly now
- 22:11Speaker 3: They have a big series against Tampa. They're not careful.
- 22:14Speaker 3: They're gonna be about eight games out, you know, going
- 22:16Speaker 3: to the break talking to fucks from Tampa.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Before.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Remember, they kind of thought this would like a be
- 22:21Speaker 3: tooling year, you know when maybe high eighties and to
- 22:24Speaker 3: make the playoffs they do.
- 22:25Speaker 1: If not, so what now?
- 22:27Speaker 3: I think they're gonna aggressive, like a going for guys
- 22:30Speaker 3: like Derek Scougle and that sort of thing, because they
- 22:33Speaker 3: realized this America League is so wide open.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Here's their chance to win the first World Series if
- 22:39Speaker 1: nobody else is gonna take it.
- 22:41Speaker 5: All right, Well, let's go to the Phillies, a team
- 22:43Speaker 5: that was ten first team ever I think in baseball
- 22:47Speaker 5: history to be ten games under five hundred and then
- 22:49Speaker 5: ten games over five hundred before July. Which team are they?
- 22:54Speaker 5: Are they the closer to ten games over five hundred
- 22:57Speaker 5: or are they closer to the Rob Thompson ten games under.
- 23:03Speaker 3: I think they're closer to what they're playing now. I
- 23:05Speaker 3: still think it would have happened. I'm not saying it
- 23:07Speaker 3: would have gone on this hot streak under Don Manningley,
- 23:10Speaker 3: but I do believe they would have won to Rob Thompson.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I mean Thompson and Madley. Their personalities are almost identical.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You know, they keep your brothers.
- 23:18Speaker 3: But I think it was such a wake up call
- 23:19Speaker 3: to the players, like, hey, you guys just got a
- 23:21Speaker 3: good guy fired here. That's on you, And all of
- 23:24Speaker 3: a sudden, they started playing a whole lot better. By
- 23:26Speaker 3: the it's a scary team. They still need a right
- 23:28Speaker 3: hand and hitting outfielder. If they get that, maybe uh,
- 23:32Speaker 3: you know, another reliever for the back end that bullpen,
- 23:35Speaker 3: then I think they're set. I mean that windows tarting
- 23:38Speaker 3: to close a little bit in the Phillies. I think
- 23:40Speaker 3: this might be their last best chance to win it all.
- 23:45Speaker 3: There have been a you know, a great team. You know,
- 23:47Speaker 3: they almost beat the Dodgers last year, but I think
- 23:49Speaker 3: they've run up against the Dodgers this time. With the
- 23:52Speaker 3: pitching they got, particular with the Sanchez and Wheeler and Lozarno,
- 23:58Speaker 3: I think they could scare the Dodgers of death.
- 24:02Speaker 6: That was my question, Bob.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Is you mentioned the Tigers that they get in and
- 24:06Speaker 4: they have Schoobal and Maz and Fromber and they've be scary.
- 24:10Speaker 4: But can you imagine having to go to a three
- 24:12Speaker 4: game or a five game series and you get Sanchez, Wheeler,
- 24:15Speaker 4: Lozardo and then whoever the fourth guy is with Deron
- 24:18Speaker 4: and Alverado and some of those guys at the back end, Kirkering.
- 24:21Speaker 4: That would be a scary proposition for any team, including
- 24:24Speaker 4: the Dodgers.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they were so close last year.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Remember they lost a Game four and the throwing air
- 24:31Speaker 3: by the pitcher those Game five would have been Philadelphia
- 24:35Speaker 3: tough place to win. So yeah, I think they're a
- 24:38Speaker 3: very scary team. I think they're can be very aggressive. Uh,
- 24:41Speaker 3: Dave Lebowski has always been aggressive, So I think they're going.
- 24:44Speaker 1: To go for this thing.
- 24:45Speaker 3: I think, you know, obviously they don't not going after
- 24:48Speaker 3: a get like Turks Scugle, but they got to get
- 24:50Speaker 3: that right hen of bats somewhere.
- 24:51Speaker 1: They've had their scouts all over the road here the
- 24:54Speaker 1: last month or so, kind of watching like who's gonna
- 24:57Speaker 1: be a bill? But at the trade deadline, got to
- 25:00Speaker 1: get help here.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Well, one more thing about the Phillies will run it.
- 25:04Speaker 4: I know they have Mattingly and he's not gonna come
- 25:06Speaker 4: back next year, we know that for sure. Would Alex
- 25:09Speaker 4: Cora still be in the mix for this job, would
- 25:11Speaker 4: he still be considered the front runner. We know they
- 25:14Speaker 4: tried to hire him as soon as he was let
- 25:15Speaker 4: go from Boston, but would they would he be the
- 25:17Speaker 4: front runner with if Mattingly decides not to come back.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's Kora's job. I really do.
- 25:24Speaker 3: I just think he wanted to breather get paid anyway,
- 25:26Speaker 3: step back. I mean, he would look like your genius
- 25:29Speaker 3: if they'd taken this job and the same record.
- 25:31Speaker 1: As Mallian dead.
- 25:32Speaker 3: I think the only way man they comes back is
- 25:34Speaker 3: you know, hey, if they win the World Series, then
- 25:37Speaker 3: they asked on on hey, you want to come back
- 25:39Speaker 3: or not? Let him be his choice. Otherwise I think, hey,
- 25:43Speaker 3: we want Corey here. Is that all right by you?
- 25:46Speaker 3: Anybody step away and say no, what, I'll retire anyway?
- 25:49Speaker 5: Uh?
- 25:50Speaker 3: But no, I think it's definitely Coorra's job unless they
- 25:54Speaker 3: win the win the whole thing and manually wants to
- 25:56Speaker 3: do it, or maybe a magie thinks, you know what,
- 25:59Speaker 3: I'll be like a John l or something.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Just walk away with my first ring. Oh that would
- 26:04Speaker 1: be cool. Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: I fell for him last year obviously, you know, part
- 26:08Speaker 2: of the Blue Jays organization getting so damn close inches
- 26:11Speaker 2: away multiple times. Bob good stuff, great to catch up
- 26:15Speaker 2: with you. We'll be chatting frequently leading up to the
- 26:17Speaker 2: trade deadline.
- 26:19Speaker 1: All right, so you guys pull it Offia,
