- 0:38Music.
- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:03We all need Jesus. It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not.
- 1:07Without Him, we are all lost. We have all fallen short of His glory,
- 1:11and there is nothing we can do to pay the sin debt we owe.
- 1:14But God, in His infinite love, sent His Son, who willingly laid down His life for our sins.
- 1:21Because of his great love, we can be saved from God's wrath and make heaven our eternal home.
- 1:26Join Kim in this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as she takes us on
- 1:30a journey through the scriptures, revealing God's incredible love for each of us.
- 1:35Hello and welcome to this podcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:39I wonder those of you who listen to me and have given your life to the Lord,
- 1:44have you ever just thought about what it means to be saved?
- 1:49I believe that sometimes we just have to go back in our heart and in our mind
- 1:56and really reflect on what God did for us.
- 2:00I think it instills in us a greater motivation
- 2:05and an inspiration to tell those who
- 2:07don't know him because you see having a
- 2:11personal relationship with jesus christ is the result of giving your life to
- 2:16him and being saved is so much more than just fire insurance it's so much more
- 2:23than on the end of life we have the opportunity to go to heaven as opposed to spend eternity in hell.
- 2:32Being saved is such an incredible phrase.
- 2:35We say it in a vernacular of church and religion as saved, salvation.
- 2:42We've been saved from our sins because of Jesus Christ.
- 2:46But I want you to know that knowing Jesus Christ in a personal way,
- 2:53having him as your best friend,
- 2:57having him as your king, having him as your Lord, having a personal relationship
- 3:03with the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of you is what makes this life tolerable,
- 3:10bearable, and worth living.
- 3:12The hymn writer had it right when they said, I could face tomorrow because he lives.
- 3:18I want you to know that I can face tomorrow, not only because he lives,
- 3:23but because he lives in me.
- 3:27Jesus loves me. This I know, for the Bible tells me so.
- 3:33Friends, having a personal relationship is so incredible when we have it with Jesus Christ.
- 3:42Now, I know I have people in my
- 3:44circle that don't believe that there's a
- 3:47need for salvation but whether or
- 3:50not you believe it doesn't change it because john
- 3:543 7 says marvel not that i say unto
- 3:57thee ye must be born again
- 4:00isaiah 64 6
- 4:03says but we are all as an unclean thing and all
- 4:06our righteousness are as filthy rags and we all do
- 4:09fade as a leaf and our iniquities like the wind have
- 4:12taken us away left to our own self
- 4:16we would wreck our
- 4:19lives and ruin it the lust of
- 4:22our flesh the greed of our eyes the narcissistic behaviors of human flesh would
- 4:30cause us to be isolated if you don't believe me look at the lives of those that
- 4:37we know who have totally ignored who Christ is.
- 4:41And they don't allow people around them who know who Christ is.
- 4:45And so they live in this total isolation of the darkness of the devil.
- 4:51These people who need Jesus desperately have been duped by the devil to the
- 4:59point that they simply don't believe he exists.
- 5:04They simply don't believe they need him. But that is a lie.
- 5:09Because it says marvel not that I say unto thee you must be born again.
- 5:14See, greater love hath no man than this, that a man would lay down his life for his friend.
- 5:21Because of his great love, because God loved us so much that he sent his son, we can all be saved.
- 5:30Not just from hell, which is the greatest of all benefits of salvation,
- 5:35but be saved from the wrath of God.
- 5:40Many of the traps and temptations, and problems and issues and troubles of the world.
- 5:47I never once in my lifetime heard a saved individual say they wish they had
- 5:52gotten saved later in life.
- 5:55But I've heard many people say they wish they had been saved earlier.
- 6:00Walking with Jesus Christ as your Savior,
- 6:03living a life in full fellowship with Him, knowing him as your friend and your
- 6:10father knowing his character in his ways following his commands.
- 6:17Delighting in him it leads you in a different direction than one who follows
- 6:24darkness see the bible tells us in john chapter 1 and verse 14 that the word
- 6:30was made flesh and dwelt among us.
- 6:32So when we look at the Holy Scriptures from Genesis to Revelations,
- 6:37we are watching Jesus unfold.
- 6:39And though none of us within the hearing of my voice have the opportunity to
- 6:44walk on this earth with Jesus Christ, we can know him in pardon and forgiveness of sin.
- 6:50We can know him in a personal relationship. We can walk with him and talk with him.
- 6:56We can know his character. we can know his
- 6:59ways we can understand his expectations we
- 7:02can live in the blessing of his promises because
- 7:06his word was made flesh it gives
- 7:09us the greatest love letter ever written from genesis to revelations the bible
- 7:15tells us in john chapter 3 verse 16 for god so loved the world that he gave
- 7:22his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
- 7:27but have everlasting life.
- 7:31See, 1 John 2, 2 says, and he is the propitiation for our sins,
- 7:35and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
- 7:401 John 4, 10 clearly tells us of his great love.
- 7:44He says, hearing his love, not that we love God, but that he loved us and sent
- 7:51his son to be the propitiation for our sins.
- 7:55Jesus paid a sin debt that we simply could not pay.
- 8:00We owed it. We were the sinful people.
- 8:05We were fleshly, filled with greed and lust. So that's hard for some of us to get.
- 8:13Some of us, within the sound of my voice, myself included, was saved at a very young age.
- 8:19Some of us were saved recently or at an older age, and I'm sure that we have
- 8:25that gambit all in between.
- 8:28But I want you to know something. It took just as much blood to save me at age
- 8:36five as it does you, as it did the thief on the cross.
- 8:43See, we like to think that maybe we're better than the next.
- 8:47Maybe we're better than the murderer.
- 8:49Maybe we're better than the thief.
- 8:52But sin is sin, and we're the only ones that categorize it.
- 8:56And the Lord said in Romans 3, verse 22, and I'm going to continue in your hearing these words,
- 9:05even the righteousness of god which is by faith of jesus christ unto all and
- 9:11upon all them that believe for there is no difference don't you love that the
- 9:16righteousness of god which is by faith,
- 9:19for by faith are you saved and that not of yourselves it is the gift of god
- 9:24not of works lest any man should boast ephesians 2 8 9 but he says that the
- 9:31righteousness of god is by face of Jesus Christ unto all, but this is what I love,
- 9:39upon all that believe.
- 9:42All them that believe, the righteousness of God showers over them.
- 9:47It pours over them like rain.
- 9:51And there's no difference between Jew and Greek, man and woman.
- 9:57Nationalities, imperfections, sins.
- 10:04Now, when we come to Jesus, we come like the woman at the well did.
- 10:08We come with an empty pot, and he fills us up, and it's his righteousness that makes us saved.
- 10:19Salvation is free, and it's to all who believe, but it's more than raising your
- 10:25hand. It's more than reading a book.
- 10:27It's more than saying this or that. Now you've got to come and empty yourself
- 10:34of yourself to repent and turn away from your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart,
- 10:42knowing that he is the only one who could save you,
- 10:45realizing that you are a sinner in need of a savior.
- 10:49Because as we read in Romans 3 23 he says for all have sinned and come short
- 10:55of the glory of God so 22 and 23 allow us to understand that we all need a savior
- 11:02we're all the same and none of us gets a pass.
- 11:08Can't be saved for someone else you don't
- 11:10get to heaven because you came from a tremendously religious
- 11:14home you don't get to heaven because your
- 11:17parents were tremendously dedicated workers for
- 11:21the lord no every one of us has
- 11:24to give account of ourselves before god and it
- 11:27is a personal relationship with a personal god
- 11:30and it's an acknowledgement that you need him
- 11:33that you are a sinner and then he says
- 11:36in verse 22 that if you believe he showers you
- 11:39he pours he puts his righteousness upon you
- 11:43then verse 24 tells us what
- 11:45that means he says being justified freely by
- 11:49his grace through the redemption that is in christ
- 11:51jesus this righteousness of god
- 11:54comes through faith in jesus christ and all
- 11:58who believe and trust him and acknowledge him
- 12:01as god's son there isn't any distinction between.
- 12:04Them we all come exactly the same
- 12:08because we've all sinned and we've continually fallen short of god's glory but
- 12:13we're declared free of the guilt of sin we're made acceptable to god because
- 12:20when god looks at us he sees the sinless perfect blood of his son.
- 12:26Isaiah 1.18 says, Come and let us reason together, saith the Lord.
- 12:32Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.
- 12:35He loves me. Though they be red like crimson, they be white like wool.
- 12:45It's not about works of righteousness, which we have done, but it's the finished
- 12:49work of calvary because of his great love we can all be saved.
- 12:56God grants us eternal life, and it's a gift. And he does this by his grace,
- 13:02which is precious and undeserved.
- 13:06And it says through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, through the payment
- 13:13for our sin, which Christ Jesus provided.
- 13:17He continues in 25 with these words,
- 13:21whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,
- 13:25to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God.
- 13:34God gave his son publicly for the whole world.
- 13:40He was the only life-giving sacrifice that could pay the debt, and he didn't own it.
- 13:47He didn't owe the debt, but he became the sacrifice.
- 13:52He became the atonement. It was his reconciliation by his sinless,
- 13:57perfect blood that would allow us through faith to receive the forgiveness of our sins.
- 14:05Righteousness demands payment. And we don't have any righteousness.
- 14:11We read it earlier in Isaiah 64, 6, that we're all unclean and our righteousness
- 14:17is as filthy rags. We had nothing to give, to pay for the penalty of our sin.
- 14:25But because of God's deliberate restraint, that's what forbearance means.
- 14:32Instead of just wiping us out because we were no good for nothing's galleywags,
- 14:39because we had rejected him, because we had ignored him, he didn't do that. No, he made a way.
- 14:48And he passes over those sins when he sees the blood.
- 14:54Verse 26, he says, to declare, I say at this time, his righteousness,
- 14:58that he might be just, the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
- 15:05Now, we have a law system in our country, and it allows us to have representation
- 15:14when we have been found to have done something.
- 15:18And we have great lawyers, and we have mediocre lawyers, and I'm sure we have really bad lawyers.
- 15:25But Jesus Christ is our advocate to the Father.
- 15:30And you'll never have an advocate or an intercessor like Jesus.
- 15:37And it says that the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus,
- 15:43Jesus Christ was righteous.
- 15:47And because of his righteousness we are
- 15:50justified you know what that means it means just as if we never sinned because
- 15:57of his great love we can be blameless in front of an almighty sinless god when's
- 16:06the last time you thought about that.
- 16:10I think we just think about salvation as fire insurance i think we forget that
- 16:15he said be holy for i am holy and that when you are holy he will hang out with
- 16:21you and help you i think you forgot,
- 16:24that he said to take up your cross and follow
- 16:27me i think we've forgotten that
- 16:31he said i am a jealous god you won't
- 16:34have any other gods before me now most of you listening to
- 16:37me i am quite certain probably do not have another
- 16:40religious god such as buddha or confucius but
- 16:44i wonder if the boat on sunday morning in june is
- 16:48your god because you paid for it you pay to slip it you pay to maintain it and
- 16:54it's tough you can't work use it monday through friday because you're working
- 16:57and saturday the kids have a game or something's going on so sunday's it so
- 17:03this thing that's meant for your enjoyment, your pleasure,
- 17:07now is pulling you through the nose,
- 17:11leading you in places you shouldn't be.
- 17:14No, I'm not saying that being on a lake isn't where you shouldn't be,
- 17:18but I'm saying being on a lake every Sunday during church time is where you shouldn't be.
- 17:25Peter went fishing, but he didn't go every Sunday.
- 17:28See, we let things lead us that shouldn't.
- 17:33We let things have a place in our life that belongs only to the lord and it was his great love,
- 17:41that saved us he paid a sin debt he didn't owe for a people who owed a sin debt they couldn't pay,
- 17:49and he did it because he loves us we've sung it all of our life jesus loves
- 17:55me this i know for the bible tells me so.
- 17:59Interesting to me how many people think that that's just a little kid's Sunday school song.
- 18:05It's my mantra. It's my life.
- 18:09It's my driving force. Because I know he loves me. Because of his great love, I'm saved.
- 18:17And this is free to all. It wasn't because I was born into a certain family.
- 18:23It wasn't because I went to a certain denomination.
- 18:26It wasn't because I went to a certain church isn't because I knew some verses or read his word.
- 18:34It's because he loves me, and he's no respecter of persons.
- 18:39Romans 8, 38, and 39 says that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Are you saved today?
- 18:47Romans 3, 23 says, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
- 18:52life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- 18:55Actually, Romans 3, 23 says, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
- 19:01Romans 6.23 says, for the wages of sin is death.
- 19:05But Romans 5.8 says, but God commendeth his love toward us and that while we
- 19:10were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
- 19:14Then Romans 10.9 and 10 says this, that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
- 19:20the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
- 19:26thou shalt be saved for with
- 19:29the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is
- 19:35made unto salvation and john 3 16 says for god so loved the world that he gave
- 19:42his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- 19:50Salvation cost jesus everything but it's
- 19:54free to us ephesians 2 89 as
- 19:57i said earlier says for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of
- 20:01yourselves it is the gift of god not of works lest any man should boast it's
- 20:07free to us and it costs him everything but just because it's free doesn't mean it's easy.
- 20:15It doesn't mean it's not valuable. It is the greatest gift ever given.
- 20:21It is the most valuable treasure you'll ever possess.
- 20:25But it requires you to repent, to turn away from the devil, and to fully believe.
- 20:33As we close this message, I want to leave you with this illustration.
- 20:40I believe it's safe to say that everyone listening to me understands that if
- 20:46you're in a room with a door unlocked but shut.
- 20:53Turn the handle of that door, the door will open.
- 20:57I'm afraid some of us, that's as far as we've gotten with our relationship with Jesus.
- 21:05We don't have one because we've not acted upon our faith. We've not activated our faith.
- 21:12We've not put our faith in him. We've not believed in him or trusted in him.
- 21:16We just have a knowledge that Jesus died on the cross for our sins,
- 21:22that his sinless, perfect blood is what pays the payment for our sins.
- 21:29If we have faith and believe in him, he will forgive us our sins and cleanse
- 21:34us from all unrighteousness.
- 21:36But we've never turned the knob of the door to get out.
- 21:42And right now, I think it doesn't seem that important to you.
- 21:47But let's look at this scenario slightly different. We're all in a room. The door is shut.
- 21:54It's not locked. And there's a fire breaks out in that room.
- 22:00Those who know and understand that if they turn the doorknob,
- 22:05they can walk through it into safety, they
- 22:08indeed will be safe unharmed but
- 22:14those who sit in that chair with the exact same knowledge as those who got up
- 22:18and acted upon that faith and opened that door and walked through those with
- 22:22that same knowledge but yet refuse to submit to that knowledge to activate their
- 22:30faith to get up and turn that knob,
- 22:34will die in that room with the exact
- 22:39same knowledge as those who had the knowledge but also had the faith.
- 22:45You ask me what am I trying to tell you? I'm trying to tell you there's 18 inches
- 22:50between salvation and hell.
- 22:53The average distance between your brain and your heart. The devil knows Jesus
- 22:58well, and he trembles, but he doesn't believe in him. He doesn't trust in him.
- 23:05So friends, today I'm asking you, do you know him?
- 23:10Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ because you acknowledge you're a
- 23:15sinner, you believe in who he is, and you're confessing him as your Lord and Savior?
- 23:21And you've said, I forget this worldly stuff, man. It's not for me.
- 23:25I am from this day forward going to live committed and purposeful life to following Jesus.
- 23:34He said, deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me.
- 23:38He waits with nail-scarred hands, bidding you come.
- 23:43Empty yourself like the woman at the well and allow him to fill you to overflowing with his grace,
- 23:53his mercy, and his love and a promise of life eternal and a home not made with hands in the heavens.
- 24:01Remember, you are loved. Jesus loves you.
