  Speaker 1: Right, okay.
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Well, while you're doing the interview, somebody's doing the interview.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: Not to slight you at all.
• 2:02
Speaker 1: He's got a 1320 video shirt on and what is your name?
• 2:07
Speaker 1: Kyle, Platt Kyle spell your last name.
• 2:10
  Speaker 2: P-L-A-T-T.
• 2:14
Speaker 1: My brother, who's no longer with us, went to the University of Wisconsin at Plattville.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: Oh, so I'm sure that there's some sort of connection there, possibly.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: Where is your family history from?
• 2:27
Speaker 1: Mostly from Texas City and Alvin.
• 2:29
Speaker 1: Okay, well, that's close to Wisconsin.
• 2:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely it's just over there I'm thinking.
• 2:35
Speaker 1: Platte, platteville, I'm just trying to do the math.
• 2:37
Speaker 2: It's funny you say that when I was living with my parents still my neighbors their last name was platt, no relation.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: The mailman had a blast.
• 2:52
Speaker 2: I bet he did mailman's fault.
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, the address wasn't 13, 20 was no, that's how many feet are in a quarter mile.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: I'm very well aware of that.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: Generally, very well the milkman's at fault, but now it's the mailman.
• 2:57
Speaker 2: That's the milkman could be the milk.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: You don't think they have the milkman anymore.
• 3:00
Speaker 1: No, that was the charles chips man.
• 3:02
Speaker 1: You're mistaken, sir, and only us old people actually know anything about that.
• 3:07
Speaker 2: The hostess door-to-door guy, and what's your first name?
• 3:09
Speaker 2: Kyle, kyle, kyle Platt.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: And he had a neighbor named Platt.
• 3:13
  Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, great.
• 3:15
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 3:16
  Speaker 2: Well.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: I wrote down Plattville, so I'm going to go with that, all right.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: So what do we got here?
• 3:21
Speaker 2: What did you bring to the show?
• 3:21
Speaker 2: Oh, wait a minute, I'm not done yet.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: Okay then hold on.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: I want to know about the T-shirt first.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: We got video 1320.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: You take pictures of drag strips.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, mostly it's a car from their website, but I go to a lot of the events and if you'd like, you can read the back of it.
• 3:33
Speaker 2: You'd like the back?
• 3:34
  Speaker 2: I would.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: Let me, Well they do, except it's windings.
• 3:44
Speaker 2: You can't hear them.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: If you do, it's coming out of a speaker, that's good, that's it.
• 3:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't heard one of those yet, have you?
• 3:51
Speaker 1: No, no, I'm kind of looking forward to see how the engineers that are your age up there in Auburn Hills have figured that out.
• 3:59
Speaker 1: But you know they have.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel sorry for them.
• 4:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, well know they have.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel sorry for him.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, they had no choice.
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: Did you keep?
• 4:12
Speaker 2: the job or not?
• 4:12
Speaker 2: All right, kyle, so you're a uh jdm guy.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: Uh no, I have a 17 hellcat also.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Well, this is a jdm car it is.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: It's one of my newest ones okay, so it's a 50 50 deal, yeah I've had 30 cars.
• 4:21
  Speaker 1: Now You're conflicted 30 cars.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: I've had 30, yeah, where are they all?
• 4:26
  Speaker 2: I've had.
• 4:27
Speaker 1: Oh, you've had them Selling by One at a time.
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: 66.
• 4:29
Speaker 2: Chevelle 72, plymouth Roadrunner.
• 4:33
Speaker 1: And you sold the good stuff for that.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: No, that was just one of my newest things.
• 4:37
Speaker 2: I sold the other stuff for personal uses.
• 4:39
Speaker 2: I see Buying a house, stuff like that.
• 4:42
Speaker 1: Ah well, there you have it.
• 4:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, do you regret any of those sales?
• 4:46
Speaker 1: Yes, which one is the one?
• 4:47
  Speaker 1: You regret?
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: All of them.
• 4:49
  Speaker 2: The 72 Plymouth.
• 4:50
Speaker 1: Yep, I was just going to say I built a 440.
• 4:51
Speaker 2: It was 610 horsepower.
• 4:53
Speaker 2: It was something else.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: You can buy it back.
• 4:57
Speaker 2: He ain't selling it.
• 4:59
  Speaker 1: Everything Stealing.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Everything is for sale, my friend.
• 5:03
Speaker 1: That one's for sale right now.
• 5:04
Speaker 2: It's all about the dirt.
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: Everything's for sale.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely that's what I'm saying.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, woody's selling that.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: Why don't you do a trade with him?
• 5:11
Speaker 1: He'd look good in that.
• 5:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think he would like that.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: You don't think so yeah?
• 5:31
  Speaker 1: I don't look 34.
• 5:32
Speaker 1: You've heard that before.
• 5:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah you don't look 34 either.
• 5:36
  Speaker 2: I don't either.
• 5:37
  Speaker 1: Uh, you look 24 that's a compliment.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: Well, thank you, god.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: I wish I were 24 34 right hand drive and this is a right-hand drive car.
• 5:45
  Speaker 2: Yes, it is.
• 5:45
Speaker 2: So this is a real Japanese car.
• 5:46
Speaker 2: Yes, I've imported it about two months ago, so you imported it yourself.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: Well, I bought it from the company, but yeah, what company?
• 5:54
Speaker 1: Because we've had them on.
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: It's called B-Forward.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: We haven't interviewed them.
• 5:58
Speaker 1: Are they here in Houston?
• 6:00
Speaker 2: No, they are straight in California, Japan, I believe.
• 6:03
Speaker 2: It's a website you get online and you order it through them.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: Because there's a guy here in town that we've interviewed on this show that he's local.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: I think he lives in the Burbs somewhere, but that's what he does.
• 6:14
  Speaker 2: That's his job.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: And that is probably one of the nicest looking cars for a JDM car that I think I've ever seen, so that paint is not original to the 1998.
• 6:25
Speaker 2: That's a 2000 paint job, so they put the body kit on and that's a fresh paint job with a ceramic coat done in japan.
• 6:31
Speaker 2: Okay, what body kit?
• 6:33
Speaker 2: That is the gtr body kit.
• 6:35
  Speaker 1: Okay, so.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: So the skyline did not come with that body kit on it.
• 6:39
Speaker 2: Not that model, no, not that lower rocker the front bumper and the side skirts, I see.
• 6:44
Speaker 2: So that's the whole kit Mostly.
• 6:46
Speaker 2: Yes, there's a rear bumper, but in the wing yes, the wing is actually original.
• 6:53
  Speaker 1: Oh.
• 6:54
Speaker 2: The aftermarket wing is a little bit taller.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: Now let's talk about the real guts of that car, because that's the magic I understand is the motor.
• 7:02
Speaker 2: So there's different model motors.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: This one In the Skyline there's different model motors.
• 7:07
Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, first of all, let's back up just a minute.
• 7:09
Speaker 1: So we have the Skyline and then we have what we call different trim levels.
• 7:14
Speaker 1: Yes, and that's what you're talking about.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Yes, there's three different trim levels.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: Okay, what are they?
• 7:25
Speaker 1: So mine's the GT, which is one of the lowest models for the two-door the middle is the GTT, which is the turboed.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: Is it a straight six?
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: Yes, it's a straight six-cylinder, non-turboed, correct, naturally aspirated.
• 7:32
Speaker 1: That's pretty good for that car.
• 7:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, now do you know what the horsepower is on the next up?
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: I believe it's 250.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: Okay, and then the twin turbo is what?
• 7:45
  Speaker 1: 287, I believe 287.
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: That's significant.
• 7:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the higher-end models, the twin turbo.
• 7:53
Speaker 2: You can tune them with minimal tuning and make around 500 to the wheels.
• 8:01
Speaker 2: So what actually is the color of that?
• 8:02
Speaker 2: What do they call that?
• 8:03
Speaker 2: Bayside blue, bayside blue.
• 8:05
  Speaker 1: Yep, it's pretty.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: I want to go back to the motor.
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: Go back.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: Did you tweak the motor?
• 8:14
  Speaker 2: I have not.
• 8:15
Speaker 2: The motor is all original.
• 8:16
  Speaker 2: It's called a RB25 Neo 2.5 liter and it's stock Correct.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: Have they done anything to it, since it was brand new?
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: Absolutely nothing.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: How many original miles is there on it?
• 8:27
  Speaker 1: 61,000.
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: That's all.
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: That's it.
• 8:29
  Speaker 1: Sweet.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: No wonder you bought it.
• 8:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not going to ask you how much you paid for it.
• 8:35
Speaker 2: I believe not much.
• 8:36
  Speaker 1: Really.
• 8:37
Speaker 2: I'll ask you how much you paid for it.
• 8:38
  Speaker 1: About $28,000.
• 8:40
  Speaker 2: Really.
• 8:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, that include the importing, that's everything, so the car itself over there was about $23,500.
• 8:46
Speaker 1: So you got it and the rest was importing, so did it import to California.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: It imported to Freeport Texas.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: So they put it on the boat to Freeport.
• 8:56
Speaker 1: Did you go to Freeport to get it?
• 8:57
Speaker 2: Yes, I Ubered there and drove it home.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: I would have driven you down there.
• 9:03
Speaker 2: I wanted the experience.
• 9:04
  Speaker 2: I got it.
• 9:05
Speaker 2: Did you videotape all that?
• 9:07
Speaker 2: I did a little video, but not too much, because I was still trying to concentrate on driving on the right side.
• 9:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a little bit getting used to, yeah, and it was raining, oh boy.
• 9:20
Speaker 2: It was right before one of the storms we had and some of the roads were starting to flood going to Freeport, so I was really nervous.
• 9:30
Speaker 2: Now are those the?
• 9:31
Speaker 1: stock wheels or the aftermarket.
• 9:32
  Speaker 2: They're aftermarket.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: You bought them, but they came with the car.
• 9:35
Speaker 2: Yes, I haven't bought anything for that car.
• 9:37
Speaker 2: I just put gas in it since I got it Two months ago.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: I have yet to change anything on it.
• 9:42
Speaker 2: They haven't even changed the oil.
• 9:45
  Speaker 1: I did that.
• 9:45
Speaker 2: I did that the first three days.
• 9:46
Speaker 2: I went and got the oil changed.
• 9:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, did it need it.
• 9:49
Speaker 2: I don't know if it did or not?
• 9:56
Speaker 1: Is it hard to get parts for those cars?
• 9:59
Speaker 2: It depends on what part the engine and transmission you can get that.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: So the reason I got that car it was $61,000.
• 10:05
Speaker 2: Zero rust and getting a car with zero rust in Japan is ungodly.
• 10:09
Speaker 2: Even the frame rails underneath it, the pinch welds, aren't even bent from like a floor jack.
• 10:13
  Speaker 2: It's perfect.
• 10:14
Speaker 2: So my plan was to get an engine and transmission swap.
• 10:17
Speaker 2: You can get that for about 10 11 grand and do the whole conversion.
• 10:20
Speaker 2: I wanted a good platform to start off with.
• 10:22
Speaker 2: I didn't want a rust bucket or right, something that had uh, that was wore out.
• 10:26
Speaker 2: So my plan was to get something with low mileage, with zero rust, and build you still plan on swapping it?
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: no?
• 10:33
Speaker 1: Yes and no um let me ask you this can you hop up that motor with stock factory parts, like on the gtt or the?
• 10:44
Speaker 2: yes you can yeah, so I actually, so it's the same motor they just have add-ons very, very close.
• 10:50
Speaker 2: I it's a different intake manifold and I have that at the house.
• 10:53
  Speaker 2: I bought it.
• 10:53
Speaker 2: I was going to do the conversion, but it's the same short block.
• 10:57
Speaker 2: Yes, same short block.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: Wow, yeah, uh, dual exhaust, no, just, uh, single exhaust, single exhaust.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: So it all, all of all the exhaust ports come out one side correct, into a collector tube and then out, correct, correct, automatic.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: Yes, how many speeds?
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: Four-speed, four-speed automatic.
• 11:20
Speaker 1: How is it on the highway doing 60?
• 11:24
Speaker 1: What kind of RPM are you running?
• 11:27
Speaker 2: It's kind of hard to read 60, since it's all in kilometers.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: So I kind of just keep up with everybody else Go a little bit faster.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's not screaming like it needs more gears.
• 11:37
  Speaker 2: No, it's not.
• 11:38
Speaker 1: It's probably about 2,500 roughly, because that car was made to go 60, 70 miles an hour Correct, whereas opposed to your 72 Plymouth that you used to own.
• 11:47
  Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
• 11:49
Speaker 1: Because I mean, you're doing 70 miles an hour.
• 11:51
Speaker 1: It's up there at 3,000 RPM at least.
• 11:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but 8,000 RPM at least yeah, yeah, but I have a.
• 11:56
  Speaker 2: Like I said, I have a 17 Helger.
• 11:58
  Speaker 1: Charger.
• 11:58
Speaker 2: It's one of the highest mileage cars that I know of.
• 12:01
  Speaker 2: That's in Texas.
• 12:01
Speaker 2: That's still kicking and I've been beating it up every day since I've got it.
• 12:05
Speaker 2: Not yet I have not.
• 12:07
Speaker 2: I seen this car show here.
• 12:10
Speaker 2: They had an import class.
• 12:11
Speaker 2: I was like, well, I'm right down it out.
• 12:14
Speaker 1: So a guy that I just met recently he's a JDM-er and we had him on the show what a couple of weeks ago.
• 12:22
  Speaker 1: Mars.
• 12:22
  Speaker 2: Two weeks yeah.
• 12:25
Speaker 1: Very well connected in the JDM and he's in his late 20s.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: But I think that you would appreciate the connection, that you would appreciate the connection and, um, if you'll get a hold of mars at inwheeltimecom, he'll give you his name and uh phone number his connection.
• 12:44
Speaker 1: You might be able to do it here.
• 12:46
Speaker 1: I don't know, but um, we love to put car guys together oh, it's a it's a really a uh.
• 12:52
Speaker 1: It's a unique thing for us old people, because we don't well, no, no, and I mean that sincerely.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: It's not that we don't want to know we do, but these are our grandchildren.
• 13:04
Speaker 2: My son is listening intently at this moment.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, he texted me.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: And you know I appreciate it because this stuff is what the 55 Chevy was to me.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: This stuff is what the 55 Chevy was to me because my era was late two-door B210.
• 13:27
Speaker 1: It was a beast, is what it was small block Chevy that would scream and drag, raced it and did all the fun stuff with it as we did, and it's really no different.
• 13:37
Speaker 1: The appreciation for these cars was for me with that car and that era.
• 13:42
Speaker 1: So the only problem is my grandson's a year and a half, so he's not quite there yet.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: Of course, my age.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: That was our life, when we were kids.
• 13:54
Speaker 2: And that was one of the most iconic cars in the movies.
• 13:57
Speaker 2: So that's why, you bought that car yeah, that, and a 69 Charger, of course, and that's one of my other dream cars and I got the Hellcat.
• 14:04
Speaker 2: I'm closing up to it.
• 14:06
Speaker 2: You know I would trade it for one of those, but it's going to take some bargaining to do that.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: Well, you need to come out, we're going to.
• 14:14
  Speaker 1: I think it's November the 10th 9th November 9th 9th November 9th at the Hemi Hideout.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: I've heard of that.
• 14:21
