- Julio A.: Hello, hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the No Good Sports Podcast with your hosts, Julio and Julio. What's going on? Before we get started, we are I think this will be episode four. We're gonna be a month in. And Julio Elder: Yeah, bro, congratulations, man. Four episodes. Hmm. Julio A.: we have had a steady stream of 200 people every episode. I don't know who these 200 people are, but thank you. Thank you for listening to us. Thank you so much. I hope, I hope we can put a smile on your face and talk a little sports and bring some topics that you may not have heard, some hot takes that you may agree or disagree with, and bring you just a little joy. So thank you to those 200. Like, share, and subscribe. Please, we need help. We need to get that to 500. I want the next month to double in size. 200 is wonderful. Let's get it to five. So those 200 that are listening. Julio Elder: That's right. Julio A.: Help us get to five hundred in November. Julio Elder: And we've been getting some really good comments with unfortunately. I think some of the people that are tuning in to a podcast, a lot of them, this could be something a a new experience for them. So I don't think they know the details. It's not like getting, you know, an email or, you know, getting a video. So for example, I'm getting personally, I get calls from people who have watched it. Like yesterday I got a call from the director of MLK, African American Brother, and He called me. He Hey, I just gotta let you know, bro. I finally listened to your to your podcast, you and your son, and he was giving me some really good feedback. He says, You're a character. He Julio A.: Alright. Julio Elder: says, he says, You're a character. He says, yo, he's Julio A.: Ha ha ha Julio Elder: you guys, you kept you kept my attention going. He said, I was on, I was in the car listening to it. And then when I got to the office, I had to actually see it. And I saw, you know, at least two or three minutes of it, even Julio A.: Yeah. Julio Elder: though I had heard the whole podcast. He said, Your information was very good. He commented on you basically. Revealing the racism on that memo that was sent. He says, that was detailed. Julio A.: Brian Flores and the NFL. Julio Elder: Yeah, he said that was detailed. He says, that was very good. You know, and then I got another comment, not that someone called from another individual who I know. he sent me a text message and Julio A.: Mm-hmm. Julio Elder: he said that though, even though he didn't think much of Flores, and he gave me another name of another person who's a coach. He said, I think that the the the segment you guys had was so important that he says he commended us on that and and said that he definitely subscribed and that he also shared it. and then of course, a person that you know, in case Julio A.: All right, see? Here we go. Julio Elder: you didn't you don't and you should know one of one of your persons out there in LA, Annie Cabrera. Yeah, Annie, she's Julio A.: of course. Shout out to Annie. That's my West Coast Titi. Julio Elder: see she said, Congratulations to both of you. Julio A.: we love Annie. Thank you. Julio Elder: and she said that she even though she didn't understand some of you know, she's not into a lot of the sports part, she did listen to it and she shared it with people that she believes will definitely be interested in in in what we have to say in terms of sports. So we Julio A.: Well, that's what we're talking about. This is Gorilla Marketing Style. It's all word of mouth right now. Obviously, if you follow Latinosports.com, if you don't, you should. And if you follow Latinosports.com, you'll see our banner. You'll see us marketing Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: ourselves. But you know, if you're not on Latinosports.com, like you know, you you're not gonna know. And so spread the word, share, like, subscribe, comment. you know, we have thick skin here. We've been doing this for a very long time, maybe not in podcast form, but you know, I we can take criticism. I I I can say that we do read the comments, whether I comment on one or we, you know, we reply or not. Julio Elder: Yeah, yeah. Julio A.: And so it's always good to comment. I'll tell you this. you know, you I break up these segments and we put out, you know, throughout the week to like tease the the show. the the con the the the the Jim Plunkett segment that we did got a lot of reactions and people people people Julio Elder: Yes. People told me the same thing, yes. Julio A.: were very very you know shocked as I was that jim jim you know that Jim pluck it's Latino and the NFL doesn't you know know how to market those but that that one was great and we also got some on the Dodgers you know and and and the whole Julio Elder: Let's not even get on that one, bro. Julio A.: team playing no we have a lot to talk about with the Dodgers so let's get right to it let's Julio Elder: Cause you, you, you thought that the Dodgers were gonna be on that plane having a fight and they're gonna come back to LA. They're gonna be playing in front of Julio A.: I wanted that. Julio Elder: their fans, they're gonna win that game. I told you, Julio, I don't think they're gonna win that game. You said, nah, they there had to be a fight there. Even the translator was probably thrown into this thing. They're gonna be up there heavy. They did. Julio A.: You know, you can't remember birthdays, you can't remember but you're gonna remember a take that I had from two weeks ago. All right. You're gonna that one you're not gonna forget. All right. Julio Elder: Yeah, little detail. I I don't know why. I d it's a it's it's a little skill that I don't know what happens, but I seem to do that. You're not the first person that reminds me of that. I can forget birthdays, but I have details of things that people say. Julio A.: Yeah, that that's the one you wanna really listen, they the the Dodgers did not have a team fight. Nobody I don't know what happened on that plane, but they Julio Elder: It was probably too quiet. Julio A.: man, shout out to the Brewers. I i I I think this series Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: was the the Brewer the Dodgers didn't beat themselves. The Dodgers didn't, you know, it's not like they sh Otani didn't hit and listen, they got beat. They got beat. Julio Elder: Yeah. And and and and to your credit, you did say that. You did say that you thought that the Dodgers were gonna win that first game going home because of the fan base, because of the fact that they lost. But but Julio A.: I did. I didn't know they were gonna get swept. Julio Elder: but but you did say that you thought that this was the Brewers gonna be winning this this this particular battle between them and the other. Julio A.: I did call the Brewers in the series, especially after game one. I saw that the way that the Brewers came out. Listen, the Dodgers barely had a lead in this series. I felt like every single time the Dodgers either would tie it up or take the lead, that next half inning, it it wasn't like two innings later. It wasn't dramatic Julio Elder: Then that's happening. No, no. Julio A.: in the bottom of the no, that next half inning, they came back. They came back hard. Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: They either tied it or took the lead again. And it's like, you know, you it's like a heavyweight champ. You're throwing a punch. And you know, that counter punch is coming every time. Every time. It's almost like Julio Elder: Next thing Yeah we call that in Spanish el toma y dame toma y dame Julio A.: Man, well, there was a lot, there was a lot of dames after every toma in this series. And you know, Mitchell's go ahead solo home run in the sixth, and then you know, Dave Hamilton getting that insurance home run off of Edwin Diaz in the ninth. And then you got this, you know, this Aaron Ashby guy who did honestly, up until this series, exactly. I don't know these guys, Julio Elder: Who who who is he? Who is he? Who was he? Julio A.: these small market teams. This guy, Aaron Ashby, three scoreless innings for the save. you have to be Julio Elder: Yeah. No, it's Julio A.: thank I do thank the baseball guys that I'm a baseball fan, because I it's good baseball. whether the ratings or the whatever Julio Elder: Yes. That you know, no matter if whether you're a a a Milwaukee fan, Tampa fan, Dodger fan, Cleveland fan, you have to admit that the games have been very, Julio A.: Big market, small market doesn't they've been Julio Elder: very interesting and exciting. And like you said, to see a person coming up to the plate that you really don't know who that person is. And then he hits a home run. Julio A.: You know, David Hamilton hitting a home run off Edwin. You know, Edwin Diaz is only the best close of the last ten, you know, decade. Dave Hamilton comes up and says, so what? And then you got this, you know, Aaron Ashby guy. And he goes three scoreless. Julio Elder: Yeah. How about hitting a home run? How about hitting a home run off of Yamamoto? That was that was a Julio A.: I mean that was Julio Elder: that was a a surprise as well. I mean who you know, you Julio A.: There were Julio Elder: just don't hit home runs off of Yamamoto. Julio A.: It was the first team ever to sweep I get this is a stat for you. The first team ever to sweep a best of seven after trailing in every game. Julio Elder: Wow. Julio A.: And the first to sweep the same team that swept them the year before. That had never happened Julio Elder: Yes. It's Julio A.: before. Julio Elder: it it was almost like, you know, cosmic. They got swept by the Dodgers the year before, and now the Brewers come back and sweep them. Yeah. It's like it's like the you think Julio A.: Isn't baseball funny that way? Isn't baseball funny that way? Julio Elder: the you do you think that the players actually, you know, thought about that? They said, Yo, we got embarrassed last year, those who were the part of the team and said Julio A.: Yes. Yes. Julio Elder: we lost four in a row. So this year, let's try to take all four back. You think they actually had conversations like that? You think so? Julio A.: I do. I think they had a real bad taste in their mouth. I think that taste was there all season. I feel like every time they played the Dodgers, they wanted to like feel them up. You know, I I I think they w they've been Julio Elder: And prove something. Julio A.: playing this for a while. This is a long season. And I think every time they came to LA or LA came to Milwaukee, that taste was there. The fans would let them know, I I imagine at home, thumb being. But when you're finally in that position to make good. to to to reverse fortune, to wipe Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: away a curse, whatever you wanna call it, to like get vindication or ret retribution or whatever. they did it. And they did it it Julio Elder: And during the season, did they have a winning season against the the Dodgers? I think they did, right? Julio A.: I I think they had I mean they were the number one C so they had they were the best C Julio Elder: I was trying to look that up and I think they had that won like two games over what the Dodgers had beat them. So they I think they did have a winning season over the Dodgers throughout the whole season. Julio A.: Yeah, so they played them seven times. They were four and three, and then they swept them four. Julio Elder: That's it. Yeah. Julio A.: So, you know, in a best of seven throughout the season, they bested them. They got their four. But then they came in the playoffs and smacked them around and said, We're not going seven. We're gonna we're gonna celebrate on your home field. Which, you know, that that's brutal, man. That's that's that's a tough way to go out, especially when. You swept them the year before and you are chasing your own history. Okay. We're talking about a team that Julio Elder: Treepete. That we're going after that tree peat. Julio A.: had never won ever versus a Goliath, a a three-piece, you know, the modern dynasty. and they make them look downright old and silly. Julio Elder: That's right. A team that's that's ranked eighteenth in terms of their budget, in terms of their their finances in major league baseball out of the 30 teams, Milwaukee Brewers have ranked eighteenth. So they're bet back down towards the the below the middle. Julio A.: That's they're on the bottom half. They're in the bottom half. Which means that they get some collective not collective, excuse me. That luxury tax money that gets split. Does that get split amongst the bottom half of the league? Or does that split just in the bottom ten or the bottom five? I don't know what that split is, but they they're in the Julio Elder: Good that's a good point. Julio A.: bottom half of the league in spending, in payroll. So there's a world in which they may even get money from the Dodgers that they're then using to beat the Dodgers. Could you imagine that scenario? again, we're not reporters here. Could you imagine? Well, you Julio Elder: Yeah. Yeah, that could be thank thank you. Thank you to Otani. Thank you to the you know, the Dodges for giving us some extra money to beat you. But that that would be Julio A.: can make that case for the Rays andor the Guardians. Julio Elder: 28th, by the way. 28th. Of the 30 teams, Tampa's even worse. Tampa has the lowest budget, 28th. Julio A.: And they're in the World Series. Julio Elder: I think that maybe two players from the Yankees or one player or two from the Dodgers is the entire budget for the freaking Tampa Bay race. Yeah. Yeah. yeah. Abs Julio A.: I wouldn't be surprised. shout out to Kevin Cash, the you know, manager extraordinaire, knows how to push the right buttons at the right time. Like, has made it looks like he hasn't made a bad decision Julio Elder: No. Julio A.: all like all playoffs almost. Like he's he rides the hot hand, he'll bench you when he needs to bench you, he'll drop you in the lineup, he'll put you in for two innings, he'll s pull pull you after, you know, if he needs to in it less than an inning. Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: You know, he's mastered the craft of the bullpen start, you know, like Julio Elder: Do you think do you think Julio that he's really a hundred percent into the analytics or he's using a lot of his own personal, person to person, people to people, looking at guys' eyes, looking at guys' eyes, yeah, and feeling them because he's Julio A.: I know this is a big topic for you. The eye test. The eye test Julio Elder: made some moves there that and they paid off. Julio A.: They paid off. I mean, Yandy Diaz isn't I thought he he had a case to be the MVP of the series and he's like Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: the elder statesman on this team. Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: You know what I'm saying? Also, do you see how massive his biceps were when they tore his shirt off after it's like this guy's like, whoa, you don't really appreciate the build that the you know, you these guys are massive, bro. Julio Elder: Whoa, whoa, when they were when he was he said, yo, this guy, when I saw those biceps, his biceps are about as big as my my my my my legs. Julio A.: Pause. Julio Elder: He's about as big as my legs, man. You know, lo mulo mío, if you was to put my my my whole, you know, like leg next to his biceps, his yes, my thighs, bro. Julio A.: His two biceps are your entire thigh. I mean your entire waist. Your entire waist is his two biceps. Julio Elder: I looked at those biceps and said, damn, this guy looks like he's like a serious construction worker that he's picking up, you know, freaking, you know, steel beams. Wow. Julio A.: He he looked like a bodybuilder. I really was like, damn, I I had no idea. Okay, good go shout out to Yandy for what you know staying fit and being the elder statesman. But you know, their 28th. Julio Elder: And hitting those home runs. Julio A.: I I will to answer your question, I think it I think more than most managers, I think he probably has a feel for his players. He he doesn't have a choice. Julio Elder: I think so too. Yeah. Julio A.: That said, he also doesn't have a choice not to follow the analytics because his team is built analytically. He he he he has a bullpen that can start a game and finish a game. He can right, he has a bullpen that you know this starter is only gonna give you three innings. I'm not trying to go five. He's not a starting pitcher. I'm gonna get three out of you. You're gonna go through the lineup once, and then I'm gonna just flow, right? That's that's those are numbers. That's analytics, that's data talking. but pinch running, knowing when a guy's gotten too much, not enough in the tank anymore, those kinds of fields. I think I think cash and just knowing your players, right? Like sometimes just like knowing that, you know, Caminero's riding the hot hand, he's gonna go up in the lineup. I think he's his his decision making has been stellar. I do think it is a combination of both, but I think it's it's it's a forced combination. You his team is built analytically, and that's part of the reason why they don't have to spend as much. Cause it's they're they're not going after the 45 home run, 40 stolen Julio Elder: huh. Julio A.: bases You know what I mean? Just okay, well, we're gonna get 45 home runs out of three guys that we know. Don't strike out a lot, you know. They run into one, great, but you know, let's let's hope for fifteen to twenty. Right? Fifteen out of three guys is forty-five. And and Julio Elder: That's it. And and speaking about all this, Julio, don't you what you got to say something about the who won the MVP for Tampa? Now that I couldn't believe that. This pitcher, holy Moses, Julio A.: I well that brought you you know you you it's almost like you're reading my mind now Pops because I wanna I wanna I I wanna listen Freddie Julio Elder: six innings all the time. And he was throwing Julio A.: Let's let Julio Elder: them for strikes. Julio A.: Fastball Freddy. Fastball Freddy. That's what that that's what they call him. Fastball Freddy. Julio Elder: I mean, you know, Freddie had won a Latino MVP like two years ago when he first was coming out. And he's one of our Latino MVP winners. And I'm so proud that we pick players like that who then can come back and continue to show why they were they won an MVP award when nobody knew who they these guys were. But bro, his his his playing with was stellar. Julio A.: I mean he was he was he he he went out and got a very you know he went out as a free agent got a very big contract let's not forget the reason well I don't say the reason you know I don't want to harp on your boys but you know Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: let's not forget he he was a brewer mate that's when he won the Latino MVP Award that's when he was a superstar in the making Julio Elder: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Julio A.: and then the brewers do brewer things right I can't afford the guy he's gonna go on free agent where does he go Julio Elder: To the Mets. Julio A.: He go, he becomes a Met. And what happens when he becomes a Met? His numbers go like this. If you're looking at a like a like a flow chart, your boy went like this, he became a Met, and it went straight down. His fastball went down, his pasball velocity went down, his injuries went up. I don't know. But then he Julio Elder: Which which is another conversation. What happens when they come to the Mets? What happens when they come to the Mets? Julio A.: becomes a Ray. And then they find that fastball all over again. They find his form. He gets his mojo back. And now Freddie Peralta is the American League Championship Series MVP. Julio Elder: MVP. Julio A.: When he went out, got his bag with the Mets, and then was like, I gotta go. I gotta. Julio Elder: This ain't happening. Well, you know, like I said before, you know, whatever the management decisions in the Mets in terms of, you know, analyzing through analytics or through science or through medical reasons, their players before they trade them, they messed up because all the only thing that happened to Julio A.: Messed up. Julio Elder: Freddie was, and he said it, Freddie said he gave not, yeah, no, not only that Julio A.: Change the scenery. That's Julio Elder: changes, he said, he said the coaches, the pitching coaches in with the brewers. He said the pitching coaches with the Brewers helped him Julio A.: He did. Julio Elder: a lot. Helped him develop, you know, some of his pitches, helped him increase his fastball. So why couldn't they do that with the Mets? Why couldn't the same coaches, why can't, if it's a coaching thing, Rav, you're a coach, right? You should see certain things in the players that you are paid to look at and help develop them. Something happened with the Mets that they could not see that. And then Stern gets the paperwork and says, yeah, we should let him go. And then he goes to another team and what? He becomes the MVP. And he's pitched not one, not two, but in three games, six innings. Julio A.: He goes, he goes to the team. The Mets had the second or third, what is it, second or third highest payroll in the league? He goes to number 28 and turns his career around. Again. Julio Elder: Wow. Yeah. Julio A.: Brings him back up. That diagram, that flow chart that had him like this as a Met, he becomes a brewer and it goes like it went right, Julio Elder: Mm-hmm. He went right right back up. Julio A.: right back up. Didn't take a year. didn't take, you know, an an operation. it it it it it was nothing physical. Julio Elder: No, no, it wasn't nothing physical. It wasn't physical. But and did you see his face, bro? Every pitch, every time that he struck out Julio A.: He's a gamer. Julio Elder: a player that there was a man on first, could have tied the game. There was a man on first and second, could have gone ahead. And and the manager keeps him in and he pitches and he strikes the guy out. Did you see his. Reaction, not just once, but just about every pitch like that. And then you see the reaction: he is super fired up, super fired up. Julio A.: Yeah, no, he's fired up. He's fired up. That's not the guy you want facing when you're up going up to the plate. That's intimidating. Yeah. And even if and shout out to Cleveland, you know, again, another team, small Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: market. They were they were, you know, the third best team in this series. I I there's an argument to be made that they, you know, had a better playoff run than the Dodgers. Julio Elder: Mm. Julio A.: And so I would say out of the four teams that were left, they were probably the third best. And ironically, the team with the highest pair was the fourth out of the fourth that that remained. I I feel bad. I thought going into this series. I I guess Rasmussen, I hadn't seen him enough. He's a dog, he's a baller. But I going Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: into the series, I thought Cleveland had the better pitching. I just did. And I thought because of the star factor, because of Jose Ramirez, like you got a Nick Lowe, you got. Julio Elder: Yeah. You guys. Julio A.: You know, you got these guys that are, you know, top five in MVP, top five in Latino MVP, right? These guys are ballers, all stars. I thought that that was going to be the difference. And it turned out that the two teams with essentially like a what are the like a lack of stars are the ones that are, you know, outside of Camonero who Julio Elder: Lack of stars that we recognize, because they got stars, but it's just they were not recognized. They were not Julio A.: Well, that's the thing, right? I mean, Julio Elder: recognized. Julio A.: you know, Junior Camanero and Freddie Peralta, Yandy Diaz, Jackson Churio, Wilson Contreras are leading the way. Yeah, you Julio Elder: En my Mesa Junior. Henman Mesa Junior. Julio A.: love Mesa Jr. as well. I mean, he had a couple good moments, but like, and maybe he's a star in the making, but I'm I you know, these names, the Julio Elder: Yes, absolutely. Julio A.: guys I just mentioned are about to be, if Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: it you know, hopefully, are about to be like big names in the sport. They're flashy, they're baller, right? And they back it up. Yandi Diaz came out before game four and said, we're ending this tomorrow. He knew Julio Elder: Yeah. No, no. Yes. Julio A.: that there was, you know, or after game five, rather, he knew Julio Elder: He says Julio A.: that there was that there was that's it. Like we beat them tonight, we're gonna beat them tomorrow, and there is no game. We're like, there is no more series. We go into this. Julio Elder: They were super confident. Julio A.: I mean, that's cocky, but he back they back it up. Julio Elder: Super confident. Julio A.: You know, that's the that's also shout out to Kevin Cash. That's the kind of stuff where like a Yankee locker room would never tolerate a guy talking about Julio Elder: Yo, yo, and don't you think who who don't you think that having Cubans in in the Tampa and you remember that movie, that comedy movie with the guy who was the you know, he was Cuban and he had in his locker room, you know, all these, you know, spiritual things, you know, his bat, and don't you think? Don't you think that some of these Cubans were probably also, since they're very, very much into this, don't you think they were doing like some stuff outside of baseball, lighting their candles, you know, you know. You know, lighting the the smoke and the dugout because let me tell you something. Yeah. Julio A.: Listen, if they if they did, then they gotta get some Cubans up to flushing. And they gotta get some Cubans out in LA because it does not look good. I mean, it just does not look good for MLB going the optically speaking. It just does not look good for MLB going into these negotiations with these two teams as the finals. Whoever wins, it's gonna be a first time champion. Julio Elder: Yes. Yes. They both have been to the World Series but never won at World Series. Julio A.: That's awesome. Never won. And the and the Brewers only went one other time in '82. I mean, we're talking about the Robin Yount days. We're talking about Paul Moller. Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: These, these are, these are, you know, most people don't even know who these guys are because the 80s is kind of like, you know, the forgotten era. Julio Elder: Yeah. Yeah. Julio A.: obviously, Tampa has had a lot more success in recent history. They're, you know, I think as in terms of like an what do you call it the those new the the newer teams that come in, these newer franchises, Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: they're they're a model to be looked at. They're small market, but they compete. And sometimes they compete good enough to make it all the way. This year they just Julio Elder: And it's a shame. It's a shame, William, because while I was reading an article from Aris. Aris, which one day we're gonna have him on. Aris is a character on his own. And Arris lives in in St. Petersburg and he's gone he goes a lot to the trop to the trop. And he just wrote a piece, man, about when they were playing in away and at the trap, they were selling tickets, five dollars to watch, you know, the the the the game. And he was talking about the number of people that showed up, you know, he says like maybe 600, you know, people. but when they were there in live, there was 42,000. But he says that there seems to be like a a lack of a of a solid fan base. And I think that happens in in Florida period, because I think there's a lot of imports, you know, people from other cities that go to Florida to retire, to whatever. Julio A.: Well, you can you can make that case for other San Diego I used to have that same problem. Julio Elder: You think so? Julio A.: Yeah, well, San Diego, I've I've been there a lot. It's a beautiful city, but it's a very transient city. Very few people that I've met for in that live in San Diego are from San Diego. There's a lot of military, there's a lot of Air Force Julio Elder: That's true. Yeah. Like Florida's. Yeah. Julio A.: bases. They got the Top Gun School used to be right outside of San Diego, the pilot program. so a lot of people bring. Julio Elder: One of the largest naval bases, yeah. Julio A.: They bring their their right their ties with them. I remember when we first moved out to the West Coast, I saw Albert Pujols was still a Cardinal. And I came out and I saw a Padres Cardinals game, and there were as many Cardinal fans, because they got a big fan base, as there were Padre fans. Julio Elder: Yeah. That's what happens in Florida, yes. Julio A.: but they now have a product that has unified a city. Padres now Julio Elder: Yes, true. Julio A.: have a very committed, deep fan base that shows up regardless of the other team. It's not about, well, they're playing Shohei or they're playing Aaron Judge or they're playing the Mets. Let's go. No, it's like we're Padre fans. And so that happens over time. It took the Padres, however long it took them. It's gonna take the Rays, however long it takes. But what used to be. The Yankees backyard. I do believe there is now an entire generation of, you know, I'm talking like what the last 10, 12 years. There's an entire generation of of of of Tampa residents, citizens, residents, Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: that grew up with a winning team. So it's no longer the Yankees Julio Elder: Yeah, w w w that's right. Julio A.: backyard. Like these guys compete. They're there. They're in the top two or three every year. They're always, they're never bottom feeders. And even when they are, they don't stay Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: there long. it's why Kevin Cash is one of the longest tenured managers, is because he knows how to, you know, like use analytics and get these guys in places that no one thinks or expects them to be in. And so I think that you, you know, that is gonna create a larger fan base, which is what we saw at the trial. I'll tell you this, that was the loudest I've ever seen it. Julio Elder: Yes. But remember, where were they playing prior to that? Where were they playing their professional games prior to that? In the Yankee at Steinbrenner Field. Julio A.: It was always the trot. It was tro no. That's right. It's last year. That's right. That's right. Julio Elder: Last year they were playing their full their games in a minor league team from the Yankees. So they might have picked up some Yankee fans to get some, you know, support at least because they were Yankee, you know, they were playing in Steinbrenner Field. You know what that means to a team to go from, you know, Julio A.: To play in a minor league field? I mean, it's terrible. Julio Elder: In a minor league field. So that's a another one that you have to add for their reasons to want to win. Julio A.: At least in that minor league field they would have sellouts because you know the the Julio Elder: Yes. Julio A.: the the A's are playing in a minor league field in Sacramento and they still can't sell tickets. Yeah. Also Julio Elder: Yeah, that's true. That's true. That's why I know that a lot a lot of Yankee fans showed up to follow through with a professional game in Steinbrenner Field. Julio A.: But even if you're a Yankee fan and you, you know, move to Tampa because you're like, I'm moving to Florida from New York and Tampa's where the Yankees play their Julio Elder: Right. Julio A.: strange, you know, your grandson is probably not a Yankee fan because he grew up watching Tampa winning. You know, maybe he's an Aaron Judge fan, maybe they'll go and watch a few games, you know, at Steinbrenner Field. But like, you've got a good product out there. If you're a baseball fan, there's worse places to watch a game than than than than a rays game. The venue sucks, right? Julio Elder: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Julio A.: but the but the but the product on the field doesn't. and you know, now they're in the World Series. I give them all the credit in the world. That said, Julio Elder: I give them two a lot of credit. A lot of credit. They a lot of credit. Julio A.: because they're in the American League East and they destroyed my Yankees, I I'm I'm rooting Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: for the Brewers. I've been counting the Brewers out of every single thing. I thought the Padres were gonna beat them. I thought the Dodgers were gonna beat them until they slapped them around and I saw after game one that that wasn't gonna happen. I gotta stop. I gotta stop underestimating the Brewers. I go Brewers, but I don't think it's a sweep. I think this one goes the distance. Brewers in seven. Julio Elder: Sorry, brother, son, co partner, West Coast person, you know, my spiritual other being. Bottom line, Julio A.: You disagree. Julio Elder: this is Tampa, Papa. It's Tampa time. It's Tampa time. It's Tampa time. Freddie Peralta, Caminero, Herman, Este The Catcher. Bro, whoa. You know, bro, they got they they got so many pieces. Yes. Julio A.: They also have Rasmussen. He's that that boy's a stud. That boy's a stud. They got the pitching. They got the starting pitching. I but Julio Elder: I I think I think it's gonna be Tampa. You know, if I would have been a betting man, which I'm not, and we should be getting at some point some commercials for this. Bottom line is, bro, that every prediction that I made has come through. Julio A.: You were a hottest player. Julio Elder: I wish I would have been able to put, you know, some money on something. I would have been making a lot of money. I'm not a betting man. Julio A.: You will hot this player. Well, you know. Julio Elder: It's making me think that maybe I should bet. Julio A.: Well, I think what it proves is is if you watch small market teams the way you do, then you know, you don't underestimate them. Because I had the Padres beating the the the the Brewers and you didn't. You were like, No, I see them. I sa I had the Yankees beating the Rays. You said, Not a chance. Julio Elder: No. I like the Padres and I I have a g no no Julio A.: You said not a chance. You had no faith in my Yankees. Julio Elder: no. Julio A.: You knew it. You called it. so if you say it, you know, maybe you're hot, but I I I'm gonna have to disagree. I think Whatever Murphy's doing out there, you know, he had that slick little line about Julio Elder: Murphy, d you're talking about another hell of a manager, bro. Julio A.: What did he say? He had that slick like th they have Hall of Famers, but we have gamers. Come on, man. that's a good one. Say we ain't Julio Elder: Yeah, that's a that is a good line. Julio A.: we didn't come to pity we didn't come to play patty cake after the sweep when they say we ain't come to play patty cakes. Come on. He's good Julio Elder: Yes, he's yeah. Julio A.: for the mic, man. I like, I like Murph. He don't say Julio Elder: He is he is. Julio A.: hi to you see, he don't high five none of his players. You saw him when they did the introductions, they all patted him on the chest because they could. Julio Elder: They do, they do. Julio A.: Hold on. I love I lost my headphones. I got so excited. They patted him on the chest because every time they went to he's like, I ain't giving you no fist, but don't touch me. Julio Elder: And for those of you Julio A.: know, we haven't Julio Elder: who are watching and and are your our loyal fan base that we're growing, this is all part of our growth. We have today we'll be having a guest, you know, who will be on the show. Not that we interviewed him earlier, but he's gonna be with us. So bear with us as we try to get this on. And our predictions already were made. You know, my my son over there, he's he thinks that the brewers and I'm over here closer to the south Julio A.: I I can't Julio Elder: in Puerto Rico thinking Julio A.: I can't I can't go against them anymore, man. They just time and again. The way they destroyed a two-time champion. Dynasty. I mean, they've got people talking about is the dynasty over because of the way they lost to the Brewers? Julio Elder: Ho ho ho. I don't know about that, but you know, that is that is a that's a that's a tough statement. Julio A.: You what I'm not making a statement. I'm saying this is what this is what's this is how badly they got beat. They got beat so bad that people are talking about whether or not the dynasty's over. Miguel Rojas threw his socks and right after Locker said, I'm done. Can't do it no more. you know, also shout out Miguel Rojas. I know we did this already, but it turns out he has a job already lined up with the team. he's gonna be, you know, some sort of Instructor, something around the players. I'm sure spring training is gonna be a big deal. Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: or something in development. and so he's gonna stay in the organization. You can't ask for a better situation if you're a journeyman baller Julio Elder: Yeah. Julio A.: and then the team wants you after you ball, so you already know what you're doing in retirement and it's gonna pave the way to some sort of managerial something. They don't always get it right, but the Dow just got it right in this Julio Elder: Kudos to the team too. Kudos to the team. Yeah. Yeah. Kudos to the team. Julio A.: case. Shout out to Miguel Rojas for doing that, which Brings me to one more thing before we start switching to basketball. I know we already did our predictions, but in other news, the Yankees have signed Aaron Boone to a one-year contract. They're giving him which in baseball Julio Elder: This is his last year, possibly. Julio A.: worlds, we all know a one-year contract given to a manager is a lame duck administration. They are clearly looking elsewhere. And are gonna give themselves a year to find their replacement. Early signs, at least in my feed, my algorithm, I w and and my opinion, really, Julio Elder: Wait, wait, wait. Bing. Julio A.: Let's get Jorge Posada in a uniform. Julio Elder: Ha ha ha Julio A.: Let's get hip hip Jorge in that dugout. Julio Elder: Yo, but Julio A.: And he's gonna throw analytics to the wall, piss on it, and say, We need to bust some heads, we need some drive, we need some cojones, if you will. And Julio Elder: Well, let me ask you a question, Julio. You you you you you've been following this real good and you're good at this part. Let me ask you between Gora and Beltrán, who both have managerial aspirations, have had the experience of these two guys. What's up to Hector? Hector, you came in Julio A.: Hey, look who is it. Julio Elder: at the last part of this little question. You can you can also be part of answering this. Between Gora and Beltrán. Who both have aspirations to become managers at some point, and there's obviously opportunities for them. There's teams that need them. Which one of those two you think will be a manager soon? Or could be a manager soon? You say you think Hector B: Kora Kora. Julio Elder: and what team, Hector? Hector B: I think Cora is gonna take this this next year off. He he let it be known. Also too, all out Julio, all out Julio, Julio Elder: Ha ha. Hector B: hope all is well. sorry to just pop in like that. Yeah. Julio A.: Wada wah. We'll get into formal introductions in a minute. You got us right in the middle of a conversation. Julio Elder: He's from New York. So you can have like New York Hector. New York Hector. Julio, California, and this Julio in Puerto Rico. Talking about transcendental. Julio A.: Look at that, look at that. Bong bang. Hector B: Yes, sir. But yeah, I would say Cora is gonna take this this next year off and I would put him as a candidate when it comes to the Yankees managerial position that may be open depending on what happens this year. This is gonna be Aaron Boone's last year on his contract, depending on what happens. They had the press conference earlier, and obviously how Steinbrenner is going to give and Aaron Boo like a void of confidence. He's not going to rip him. He's not his father. He's not going to do that. he he doesn't see any value to doing that. So I could think if the Yankees win a World Series, Boone will be back. If not, I would say Alex Corera would be on that list of managerial candidates. And I know a lot of people say that Brian Catchman doesn't want to associate with anybody connected to that 2017 Astro team. But Julio, you're at the stadium, just like I'm at the stadium, and Carlos Beltron. works with the Yankees, he's worked with an as as an assistant with Brian Cashman. So I don't think there's much to that whole Astro thing. Maybe some of the players, but I don't I don't think Alex Kora really. Julio Elder: Hector, you Julio A.: Mm. Julio Elder: were at the press conference today? Hector B: No, I was watching it live. I you know, they send you those emails, you never forward them to me. Julio A.: Well well that's another conversation Julio Elder: All right. Julio A.: for another day. Let's backtrack for a split second and introduce Hector Julio Elder: You guys remember that? Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: Beauchamp to our fans. Shout out Hector, welcome to the show. For those of you who don't know, Julio Elder: Hector is our director for Hector B: Hola, hola, hola. Julio Elder: social media, but Hector also is if they one of these avid Knicks fans, like like Julio, since Julio was like a teen, a preteen. Julio's been a Knicks fan. Hector's been one of those as well. I don't know. Something about New Yorkans, you know, the who tied into the Knicks. It didn't affect Julio A.: Greatest greatest summer we in I've had in a long time. Hector B: Exactly. Exactly. Julio Elder: me, but I did wear this shirt for you guys today. Look, this is my my basketball shirt, right? Julio A.: All right. We'll take that. We'll take that. That's a good five. Hector B: okay, wepa, look at that. Okay. All right. Julio A.: Hector is going to be joining us you know, pretty, pretty regularly, if I had my way. you know, we we love to talk, shop on baseball and the NFL. And pretty soon I'm also gonna start introducing a segment on international football, soccer as Hector B: Mm. Julio A.: we call it here, particularly because of the business and economics and culture around it. It is a Walking, living, breathing telenovela that we haven't touched yet. So I'm a big fan of some some f clubs in the out in Europe and we're gonna get there. But the NBA season is upon us. The Knicks did Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: just break a 52-year drought, and it is only smart to have Hector here with us because Hector has been doing this much longer than either Julio or myself. and so Hector, right before We even get started. Why don't you just let Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: our fans know a little bit about what you going on, you got going on, some of the, you know, things that you got going on online, as well as you know, where you were last night. Let's talk a little bit Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: about that. And then I got some real questions for you, not just about the Knicks, about the NBA landscape in general. Hector B: course, of course. First off, thank you guys for this platform and this opportunity to talk to you. And if I if I have it my way, I'll be on with you as much as you'll have me to talk sports and chop it up with you guys. But like Julio said, I you know, I do social media, director of social media for Latino sports. I've been a fan of Latino sports two to three years before I even linked up with your father for the first time, and it was just it's been a blessing. being able to work with Latino Sports, work with Julio. I look at him as a mentor. So you could count on me as being like your little little your little brother that's not like legally on paper. But when it comes when it comes to your father and the work that we do with Latino sports, I I you know, being able to help uplift the voice that your father started years ago back in nineteen ninety. And being able to do that on social media, building a strong team that understands the message, understands the goal. And you know, Julio A.: Preach Hector B: I s I started, you know, in podcasting, right? Just talking next, going on open panels. Julio used to watch my old Nick's show, Nick's Morning Brew. you know, I migrated to I changed everything, rebranded Uptown Sports TV, being from Julio A.: Yep. Hector B: Uptown New York, you know, I branded it as something that was very important to me. You know, I I host and co-host the Yankees Morning Brew with two amazing co-hosts. I have the Yankees Drive Home Show as well, and tonight we're Julio A.: Okay. Hector B: debuting a Nick's show, a Nick's drive home show tonight with somebody that I know. And bully Julio, I know if you see him, you know exactly who he is. He's on Twitter. He goes by I-95 Bully. Bully and I, we've known each other Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: for quite a long time. Love that man to death. so we're gonna be debuting our show tonight. very, Julio A.: Great talent. Great talent. Hector B: very amazing guy. Awesome, awful, awesome insight when it comes to basketball. But last night, Latino Sports teamed up with American Whiskey. We have a running partnership with American Whiskey when it comes to the watch parties that we do. We do Julio A.: Mm-hmm. Hector B: mixed watch parties that started last year in the playoffs and the postseason. Yankee watch parties as well. But I can't take any credit from that. That goes to somebody else that's one of our social media man managers, Caleb Vasquez, who he is Julio A.: Shout out Caleb. Hector B: entrenched. Shout out, Caleb. Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: Without Caleb Vasquez, Latino Sports would not have the relationship and partnership we have with American Whiskey, with Funk Harbor, with Mariano's Moe's Heat as well, the hot sauce company. Caleb Vasquez, we covered their tasting that they had at one of the supermarkets. Anna, who works with Latino Sports, she put out an amazing article covering that as well. So it's a full team effort, you know, what we do with with with Latino Sports when it comes to covering the Knicks. You know, there's no I am team, right? But there's a we there's a there's a E and there's a we in us and there's an E in Hector, if you get what I'm saying. Julio A.: I get it. Well, thank you so much for that. That's a lot going on. We obviously feel very blessed to have you on the team, but it's also wonderful to hear that you're so hungry and you continue to build your own brand and you've got these other shows. If you haven't already, make sure you like, subscribe, and comment, and follow Hector Beauchamp on all the platforms. let's get to it. Banner night. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: It was a beautiful ceremony. I I thought it was beautiful. I the minute I opened the screen and it came on and I saw those white and gold warm-ups. First thing I was first of all, I gotta get one. Fire. Hector B: Hmm. Yeah. Julio A.: Fire warmups. the ring, just as you'd expect it. Tell me what were the vibes, not just in the in the in the bar that you were at, because I know you were with a bunch of new native New Yorkers in the thick of it, watching it all together, but emotionally and personally as a Knicks fan, you know, you've been following this team your whole life. We finally got a banner up to the Raptors that we can call our own. What was that moment like for you? And what was that moment like being with other people that are like-minded? Hector B: Unfortunately, it's something I forgot to mention. I watched it from the office. Caleb was down at American Whiskey because I I wasn't there specifically because Julio A.: YO WE WERE NOT THERE! Julio Elder: Ha ha ha. Hector B: I I I wanted to work on my article and be able to cut up clips to post on social media and and YouTube, right? Julio A.: Look at always working. well done. Hector B: And you know, as somebody that I deal with a little bit of the Tism and the ADHD, being in that environment with all those people, I know I will get distracted and want to be in that celebration. But I'll tell you this at the office. Julio A.: Se Hector B: I was on I was on FaceTime with my girlfriend, the love of my life, Alex, who she's become a Knicks fan in our relationship. And if if I'll be lying to you guys if I told you I wasn't choked up watching that ceremony from the beginning to the end, because I absolutely was. My love from the Knicks for the Knicks, it started back when I was young, growing up in Brooklyn on Leffers Place between Clarkson and Grant. My uncle, Rest in Peace, Enrique Quique Hernandez. he my my Theo, he took me to the basketball courts. That's where I fell in love with the game of basketball, with Julio A.: huh. Hector B: the New York Knicks. And he passed away in 2020. And when the Knicks celebrate when the Knicks got that championship, that night I made sure to have a conversation with him around the corner from where I live in the park. Because I know he always loved hanging out in the park by himself just to like get his thoughts together. So I had that moment and I know him and many other Knicks fans who passed on. Who weren't able to celebrate a championship, they were whiff us in the streets on Sixth Avenue in New York City when that when the Knicks celebrated. Even though the Knicks were on the road in San Antonio, everything was felt in the garden. And last night, from all the clips you see on social media, shout out to Amber Vasquez as well. That she took some photos for us for Latino Sports. They're in the Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: article. You can check it out. Visit visit Latinosports.com. Julio A.: It looked pretty it looked pretty rampant, that's why. Hector B: Yeah, it was amazing. Caleb, his I know he has a bunch of videos he's been posting on social media, but you can tell it was it was Nick Finn. Even though Banner Knight was ruined, right? It gave us all a moment we have been waiting for for years. And like you said, 53 years ago, right? 1973 was the last time the New York Knicks won a championship. And when that happened, zip codes just got put into like the fucking lexicon and the United States, like six or seven years prior. Sorry for cursing. Julio A.: It's okay. This is this is this is not a PG show. it's all good. I will have Julio Elder: This is not a PG program, nobody. Julio A.: to agree with you. I also got emotional. the first set of emotions was right out the gate when they're the rings are being passed by none other than Walt Clafrasia. I thought that that was in like very good taste, very classy. Julio Elder: Very good style. Julio A.: The Knicks are not known for class. Let's just put it out Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: there. We've had a lot of like mistakes over the years. We've had the Isaiah Thomas years, we've had a lot of You know, drama. And so this was a drama-free but emotional moment. Having Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: Walt Clyde pass out the last guy to win a title for us. He's still alive. And have him pass out the rings. What I thought was very poignant. And then I'm a video guy. My my background's in in television. They did that hype video and they had that banner being Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: sp all on all those fans. And that Julio Elder: Yes, yes. Julio A.: I I I felt it. I caught it. I got a got caught up in the wave of emotion. And then I looked, you know, at the screen. You can see the players. And you could see Kat getting caught up. You could see Jalen Brunson Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: trying not to get caught up. And I Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: Mm. Julio A.: knew at that moment that this game was gonna be tough. I knew at that moment, before the tip-off even happened, we got our rings. That ban is going up, and I see it in their faces. It was too much emotion. It reminded me of game three. Against the Spurs. Orange Top decides he wants to come to MSG and it screws everything up. Now fans got to show up two hours in advance. Players have to come in and go through certain things, and you know, Julio Elder: Security. Julio A.: and it changes your whole routine. And you Julio Elder: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: knew I knew that game, I knew the I knew that game the Spurs were going to win. and it had nothing to do with us. It had to do with all these exterior factors. And I saw it last night again. Different way. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: This one was a happy moment. It was banner night, but it was just too much. These guys are programmed Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: to do a certain thing a certain way every game. If it's I take a nap, it's I take a nap two hours before the game. If it's I eat pasta, I eat, you know, quinoa, whatever it is, you do that thing. Mikhail talks about it all the time, right? He's like, I'm Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: a Chipotle guy. This is my pre-meal game. And you saw that yesterday. Everything was all over the place. It was too much. Hector B: Mm. Julio A.: You know, there was a lot of pre-game emotions being brought up. And then you know you see that ring that you work hard for. You got no choice but to be like, dead. Like, you know, you have emotion. So I knew it was bad. That said. Against Philly, against LeBron, and this. I love that we had to give a ring in front of LeBron. He had to eat that. But then, but then the game starts, and you fill in the blank here. What happened? What happened to the Knicks? Because they had a 10-point leader hat. Hector B: It was you you hit it out the park when you talked about the pregame and all the emotion that went into it, right? Again, at you know, folks and folks that are watching, hit that like button, hit that subscribe button as well. When it comes to Latino sports, if you're watching right now, put in the comment section, let us know your thoughts when it comes to the Knicks winning the championship and your thoughts on opening night. I was I was getting my notes for my article and I had to chuckle and laugh because Karl Anthony Towns getting three fouls in the first half. the first thing I said, Julio, was like, Julio Elder: Ha ha ha Hector B: Karl Anthony Towns, he's in vintage Julio A.: it. Hector B: form. This is vintage, Karl Anthony Towns. But Julio A.: Vincent. Hector B: when you look at his stats, you know, led the led the game for both teams. No, was second in the game for both teams in rebounds with 12. Andre Drummond, he led the game with 14 rebounds at as yeah, old man. He was Julio A.: Old man River had to play like fifty minutes. Hector B: he in his Knicks debut, he was gassed. You could tell in the second half, he he was definitely gassed. The stamina and the legs just were not there. And I think if the Knicks, if they're if they want to repeat, they have to take that next step forward. And then I I what I mean by that is there's there's two things that need to happen. One, Karl Anthony Towns is has to avoid those silly tacky fouls that get him in foul trouble, something that haunted him his entire career. And if you if if Julio Elder: Right. Hector B: you know we don't have Mitchell Robinson anymore, he's with the Boston Celtics, you have to be out there on the floor for your team at least thirty five to thirty six minutes. So he he's putting his team behind the eight ball by getting into foul trouble so early, having to rely on, like you said, old man River. But but but when you when you but y Julio A.: J and Bete is good for that though, you know. I mean, he's always been one like you know, they there was maybe Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: one of those was questionable, right? Hector B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you but the matchup with MB, B slimmed down, right? So he's he's not Julio A.: A lot. Hector B: this lump lumbering big man that's out there that you should just hold up so much space in the paint. Karl Anthony Towns Julio A.: Mm-hmm. Hector B: like throwing him around. Like Karl Anthony Towns, Julio A.: Yeah. Hector B: even though he slimmed down, he kind of bulked up, right? Julio A.: Especially in the second half. Yeah. Hector B: And especially in the second half. So you wanna see that from Karl Anthony Towns, not only in the second half, but for the entirety of the game. During during The prep postgame press conference, Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: Mike Brown made an effort to like point out how bad his team played and how it seemed like they were waiting for the magic of the postseason to come in the end the fourth quarter and take them over the hump. But you Julio A.: Mm. This ain't last year's team. Hector B: this ain't last year's team. You you got a target on your back. Teams are going to be prepared. Julio Elder: Different time, different place. Hector B: Pet teams are aren't going to sleep on you. And that's what the Philadelphia seventy sixers they did so well in that third quarter and the fourth quarter. For some reason the Knicks were trying to trap at the top of the key, damn near the the half point line. They were trying to do run the double team. And you just you just allowed the seventy sixers to just score easy baskets at will in the paint. So it was a lot of rust and it's a lot of film watching that that has to happen. But Karl Anthony Towns and OG Ananobi. OG Ananobi has to ascend and become an all-star this year. And him going one for three from the free from the three point line and then Mikhail Bridges not knocking down a three point line. You you it shooting thirty two percent in the second half, no team is gonna win win a game in the NBA by by shooting like that. Julio A.: No. I mean Brunson Julio Elder: No, no way. Julio A.: Brunson had twenty one points, but he was six of nineteen. like that's that's eight Hector B: Yeah. Eight at eight from the free throw line. The majority of his lines came from the from the charity stripe. Julio A.: And OG had terrible numbers. Like it it's not cat cat is one component, but cat alone is not the reason. again, even Julio Elder: He can't win the game. He can't win the Yeah. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: even even when cat was out with those three fouls, we walked Julio Elder: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: into halftime with Elite. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: You know, and then we came out and it's like, you know, you that thing that we do, we come out, we you know, we don't come out strong, we don't we start playing with our food. but I also thought our biggest run in the first half came when our bench took over. And I didn't see a lot of bench play in the second half. I'd like to have seen maybe you, you know, you see, you go on that little Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: run, Kat does his thing, the run stops with about six minutes left in the third. I thought maybe that would have been a perfect time to get JB, get Captain out of there. Save him for Hector B: Yeah. Yeah. Julio A.: the fourth. Get Jose, you know, maybe he it was Jose was erratic, but Jose also like did enough to spark the team. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: You know what I mean? I thought in the first half he did great. And then right when he got a little too much, Brown pulled him. I thought I'd like to see a little more of that in the second half. And unfortunately the bench didn't play the minutes outside of Drummond. But the bench didn't play Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: the minutes that I thought they deserved after coming out in the first half the way they did. Hector B: Yeah, it to me it was very telling. Again, I I want to give credit to Jose Avarado. I I I did like the Jose Alvarado minutes, but to me, it was very telling seeing that in the first half of the game, I think Deuce McBride he had he played 13 minutes in the first half, but then in the second half, Landry Shaman got the majority of the bench minutes with 24 points, right? And I Julio A.: Right. Hector B: did mention that I like. you know, the Jose Alvarado minutes, the Leandry Shaman minutes as well, the bench minutes I did like. But what's going to hurt the Knicks is once you put in your guards from the bench on the court, you become very small. The Knicks need to try to figure out a way to try Julio A.: Right. Right. Hector B: to get Moe Di Oara, Muhammad Di Owara into that lineup because if if you Julio A.: Did not play. Hector B: Yeah, if you just are relying on Andre Drummond and his side and all your small guards, you're just allowing it. You're making it easy for Philly or whatever opponent to cut into your lead Julio Elder: Or the other team. Right. Hector B: because they're taking advantage Julio A.: That's a fact. Hector B: of the small players. So the Knicks, they they have to try to prioritize getting Mohammed Di Awara with that second unit and getting some burn because defensively he could play in the Mike Brown system defensively. It's just he he hasn't found the consistency offensively so so you could trust him. He he's very young. He just turned twenty one years old. Julio A.: Right. Well, Julio Elder: Yeah, yeah. Julio A.: let's switch gears for a split second here. Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: that was wonderful, Nick's talk, but I I do want to talk about the other side. LeBron, after the game, gets in a black car and goes to his apartment in Manhattan. The team gets on a bus. Julio Elder: By helicopter. Julio A.: The team gets on a bus and Goes to the airport or to the hotel or back to Philly, but LeBron stays. is this chapter in Philly? You know, first of all, day one, success. This is year 24. He's in a new city with a new uniform. He wins at MSG on banner night. Nobody's done that. Shout out to right, the greatness of of that Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: with his team. But is this a legacy, is this a chapter in his legacy, or is this gonna be a tax on the team and therefore a tax on his legacy? Hector B: I don't think so because everywhere LeBron has gone to, he's he's gotten a championship. He got drafted to Cleveland, left for Miami, won in Miami, came back to Cleveland won, left for LA, won in LA. I I do think that I don't think it's gonna be this year, next year. I do think Philly would be favorite to win the championship just because they just have to work on their bench. w when you have a team I I I don't think it's going to be bad for his legacy if he wins in Philadelphia. I think it would just uplift his legacy. He wanted that to be in New York. He's he's Julio A.: He did. Hector B: been very vocal about that. And I've been I I said it last year. If the Knicks lose in the finals or if they lose in the playoffs, their first priority is adding LeBron James. And letting LeBron James get that legacy of being the guy who ended the drought in New York. It never happened. In another timeline, maybe it happens, but in this universe, in this timeline, it did not happen. For L for LeBron, I'm more worried about the whole Pablo Torrey investigation and the whole pop first of all, shout out to Pablo Torrey. I love him. Julio A.: Mm. Pablo Torres a man. Shout out, Pablo. Hector B: One of my favorite investigation, investigative journalists that are out there. I got many other that I follow as well, Abby Martin and stuff. But shout out to Pablo Torre, a big, big advocate Julio A.: Shout out to Pablo. Hector B: of him. Love him. And he's done amazing work highlighting the the fishy shenanigans that's going on. Yes, LeBron James signed the minimum contract, but also he he's getting his helicopter with fanatics and the the owner of Fanatics Julio A.: Right. Hector B: used to be a minority owner in the Philadelphia seventy sixers. Once he started Julio A.: In the seventy six that is correct. Hector B: Fanatics, he had to separate because of conflict of interest. But it's no different than like when you look at the Knicks and their connection with CAA and Leon Rose and Leon Rose, he separated from CAA when he took the Knicks job. But his son and people he know are still connected to CAA. So it's a lot of rich Julio A.: Right, right. Hector B: people, basically it's a lot of rich people doing rich people things and I'm too broke to to talk about it. Rich people doing rich people things. Julio A.: All right, let's move on. One, one. Well, Pablo, rich people doing rich people things. Well, I think Pablo's Julio Elder: That's a program in itself, you know that. Julio A.: obviously on to something because this isn't the first time he's held rich people doing rich people things accountable. He did it with the Dodgers. He did it with Kawhi Leonard. He's he's on fire. If you want his docket, you in trouble. Hector B: Facts. huh. Yeah. Yeah. Julio A.: but let's there was another game last night that I don't even care about the game, but let's talk about. Is there is the NBA going back to the bad boy days? And are the Spurs, the new Pistons, DeAndre Fox bodying Chet Holmgren, them getting into a little skerfuffle, Wemby Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: being in the middle of it? Like, I got this. Obviously, Jay Wills doesn't like, like the Spurs do not like the Thunder. Where w is is this the is this where we're headed? Are we are rivalries back in the NBA and where are we gonna start seeing some like teams that really just don't like each other? Hector B: It it looks like it, and I credit Victor Wembin Yamba for that. I'm I'm I Julio Elder: Ha ha ha. Hector B: know a lot of Nick fans aren't a fan of him. I'm a I'm a big fan in Victor. I think I think he's Julio A.: I was a big fan before the s finals. Hector B: I think he's a smart kid. I think he's amazing. I love the principles he stands on when it comes to calling certain things out, that that have Julio A.: Agreed. Hector B: like social and political context. But as the Nick fan, I'm always gonna be in the camp of I wish I had my my my Soundboard bleep Wemby when the Knicks face San Antonio. But I I Julio Elder: Ha. Hector B: think when when you look at that rivalry, when you look at that matchup, San Antonio and OKC, Victor Wembinamba and Chet Hogram, their rivalry goes back to when they were teenagers, like when they were playing on the Olympics and when Wemby Julio A.: Right. Right. Hector B: lost to Chet and Chet got the MVP. And he took that personal, like the Michael Jordan. Julio A.: This goes back. Hector B: Yeah, like Michael Jonas says, I t I took things personal, he took things personal, and you see it. OKC they they specifically drafted the seven foot three center from Spain out of UCLA Addy Mara specifically to like be the be the Wemby stomper and he he got a block on Wemby as well. But like you said, there was that kerfuffle, there was that little, you know, square up, the little NBA. We're gonna get in the huddle and push each other, you know. There it was that moment, but I do like to believe that rivalries are back and the next generation of young. Talent or the young guys in the the OKCs, the San Antonio Spurs. I think the NBA is going to be good for like the future for like the next 10 years because of those. And you could throw the Pistons into that conversation as well, because the Pistons, they beat the Celtics on open at night. Julio A.: Yeah. They're physical. Hector B: They have something to prove. They're a very physical, physical Julio A.: Yeah. Hector B: team. Cade is Cade was a number number one pick. Big fan of him. I wanted the Knicks to fade for Cade. But yeah, I think the Pistons want to be in that conversation as well. Julio Elder: What what's your guys' predictions, man? It's kind of early, but who do you think? You think the Knicks are coming back all the way? You think that, you know, the 76ers, you got some young players in some of these teams now, man, that, you know, like like what's happening in baseball, like you got players that nobody really talks about, but they're really coming out, man, and you're seeing them a lot. Is that happening in in in basketball to the sense that there might be another surprise team that might be coming out that you guys would be looking at and saying, hey, check out this team. Julio A.: You know, there's always a dark horse, right? Like there's always like I don't think anybody came out of last year's preseason thinking, Detroit's gonna take the first seat, right? So I think there's always Hector B: No, yeah. Julio A.: gonna be surprises. that said, you know, there's other teams that like people really bank on thinking that they got something and then they falter, like the Houston Rockets, Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: who everybody I myself included, like I was like, the Rockets are gonna be amazing this year. And then they kind of like, you know, floundered in Julio Elder: Zip Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: the playoffs. They didn't really make that push that we thought they were. So that's a hard qu I think the NBA is a little harder than baseball Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: for a myriad of reasons. not least of which that baseball is just a longer sport. You know what I mean? And so you have to the teams that endure less injury are gonna succeed more. And the teams that have a deeper Julio Elder: Right. Julio A.: bench are gonna succeed more. NBA is more of a star-driven lead. There's only five players that play at a time. So one player could Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: literally take over. Right. And Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: and sometimes that player can as the case is Jalen Brunson in the playoffs, that player could take over for a stretch, but it's Hector B: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Julio A.: only a stretch. Nobody it's hard to do it over the course of a season, which is why people like Wemby are incredible. People like Luka Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: Doncic are like their otherworldly, because it's you don't understand how hard it is to be the guy. Right. You're not just Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: the pitcher you have who relies on this guy to score runs and this guy to steal bases and this guy to catch the ball. Basketball is not like that. It's like This is my back, jump on it, and we're gonna ride as long as we can. And you gotta ride that hot hand. That said, there's a reason why we haven't had a repeat champion in almost a decade. I don't think Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: the Knicks are gonna repeat. I do see them winning. I do see them possibly going to the finals. I even maybe can see a rematch, but I I I I could see it, but I'm not predicting it. I think. I think I think coming out the I think the champion's gonna come out the West and I think it's gonna be between OKC and San Antonio. Whoever wins that Hector B: Mm. Julio A.: is gonna win the West. I think the hangover is real. We haven't won in 54 years. We're gonna we're gonna celebrate we're gonna We're gonna feel this one Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: for a long time. And I think we as a Knicks fan, I also can't be greedy. So I'm gonna say one and I'm okay for the rest of my life anyway. Like ha ha ha I ain't greedy. I am not a Laker Julio Elder: Well it took you fifty some it took you all these years. Hector B: Yeah, I'm not greedy. I'm I'm happy. Julio A.: fan. You know what I'm saying? Hector B: We got banner night. We got our ring night. I think I think yesterday was the first time the Knicks lost on opening night and I didn't crash out. Like I wasn't upset. Like I wasn't like, well, this Julio A.: Same. Hector B: it's a it's over. We gotta look at the draft. No, Julio Elder: Ha ha Hector B: I I law we lost, and I was like, Well, okay, we got the Celtics on Friday. We was well when yeah, Julio A.: We'll win Friday, exactly. Hector B: exactly. I I think when you look at dark horses, like Julio said, it's very hard. For teams to just come out of nowhere in the NBA, right? There's a there's sometimes you get a young team that they look promising one year and then the next season they have a drop off and they're never able to recover from that drop off. One team that, Julio Elder: Mm. Hector B: you know, for the past three or four seasons, some a team that everybody thought was going to take that step was the Orlando Magic. Everybody thought the Orlando Magic, they were gonna be a top team in the they they were, Julio A.: They were one injury away though. They could have beaten Hector B: they were But they just never were able to recover from that injury and continue that Julio A.: Right. Hector B: success or continue that uphill, right? The two young teams that people were talking about were the Orlando Magic in the East and then OKC Julio A.: That's right. Yep. Hector B: in the West. And then they just had those injuries and they were never able to recover or compound from those injuries. I would say a team that when you look at their talent, you can say, ooh, if they get their stuff together, if they have a good coach. Maybe they could put put something together if they stay healthy is the Washington Wizards. Just because of Trey Young, Anthony Davis, the number one pick or whatever. I always forget AJ. yeah, AJ, right? Yeah, a bon. Yeah, yeah. I'm yeah, yeah, the Bonza, Julio A.: A bancer, the ban the huh. Hector B: yeah, yeah. and then another team that I do like to start going uphill, maybe not this season, but you could look at them in the future, is the Chicago Bulls. I thought Caleb Williams. Julio A.: Okay. Hector B: was the best player in the draft. Like I would have if I had the number one pick, I would have took Caleb Williams over the Bonza. Like I just I just love just his makeup. I love his tenacity. Julio A.: So they got the better draft, they got the steal. Hector B: Yeah, I think the Bulls Julio Elder: Yeah. Hector B: got the still of the draft. the two other players Julio A.: All right. Hector B: were were all all good, but I just think the the Bulls are gonna start being that team to start making that ascent going forward. Julio A.: So and what about your east and west predictions? Hector B: My east and west prediction, obviously I'm a biased Knicks fan. I I'm gonna say the eat the Knicks are coming out of the Julio A.: Sure. Hector B: East. but if if the Knicks have any chance of repeating those two things that I mentioned earlier, Karl Anthony Towns avoiding those silly fouls. And if OG Ananobi can ascend, if OG Ananobi can take that step Julio A.: Gotta get rid of Yeah, gotta stop it. Mm. Julio Elder: Those fouls. Hector B: and ascend and become an all star this year, that's a way that the Knicks finally have a true big three and they can repeat. If not, it's coming out of the West, and it's either gonna be OKC or San Antonio. I'll give more money I Julio A.: So you agree with me there? Hector B: yeah, I but I'll put a I'll give more to San Antonio just because I know Wemby tasted the final and just how he he's going to will them to the finals over OKC. That's how much he hates Chet. Julio A.: So you don't there's there's no Denver there's no Denver in there for you, there's no Hector B: Nah, Denver, Denver's on the down on the downturn. A lot of the players gotten older, right? I I love Aaron Gordon. I love I love the Joker as well, but they they're both got have gotten older. Aaron Gordon has dealt with a lot of injuries. their bench Julio A.: Yeah. Hector B: as well, has lost players as well. They had to trade players just because of the salary apron and them not wanting to be in the second apron. So I I think Denver's gonna start regression. Julio A.: All right. You heard it here, folks. Hector Beauchamp, Julio Elder: Yes, the man. Julio A.: our basketball resident, extraordinaire expert, insider. Like you're not a reporter, but you know, you come through with stats and facts and you know, and opinions, Julio Elder: Sweat is Julio A.: and it, you know, you quoting other folks like Pablo and like you this is our encyclopedia, and You know, we have to start talking about what the cadence looks like 'cause we need you on the show during the season. Hector B: you let me know. You just send the bad signal and I'll be there. Dem it. Julio Elder: And and Hector, and listen, and Julio A.: Done it. Julio Elder: before before you leave, prior to you coming on board, we had predictions, and I had Julio say his predictions for what's happening right now, which is the World Series, the World Series. Julio A.: we wanna hear about the World Series. What Julio Elder: So, so he Julio, Julio believes that it's gonna be, you know, the Brewers. Milwaukee is seven. I Julio A.: Milwaukee and seven. Milwaukee and se it goes seven and Milwaukee wins it. Julio Elder: I'm saying, I'm saying it's Tampa all the way, okay? Julio A.: And w how how many games? Julio Elder: they're gonna do it in five. Yo. Yo, I just I just got this feeling, man, that these guys, Baba, bro, I don't there's something about this team. There's something about this team. All Julio A.: What after what the Brewers just did to the Dodgers? You give them a game against the Rays? You got me raising my voice, bro. You crazy? Hector B: Mm. Mm-hmm. Julio Elder: right, okay, I'll raise it to six. But bottom line is that I think that there's something happening. And Hector, I Hector, I said this earlier. It might make Julio A.: Bro, they just smack the Dodgers around, bro. Julio Elder: you laugh more. Remember that that comedy movie about baseball, you know, where they had the Cuban player. Who was doing all those ritual things with his bad? Major league? Yeah. Julio A.: Major League. Serrano. Hector B: you're talking about major league, yeah. Julio Elder: Remember Serrano with the bad? So because remember Julio A.: Th he wanted a live chicken. He wanted a whole chicken and they brought him KFC. They brought him a KFC bucket. Hector B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Julio Elder: when they had because of the Cubans that they have in Tampa, bro, the Tampa Bay race, you know, I I got a feeling that the I I think I think that these guys are these Julio A.: He's trying to throw some Santeria into here. Hector B: That's what it is. That's what it is. Julio Elder: guys are on a roll, bro. These guys are on a roll, bro. So I'm thinking it's gonna be Tampa over, over Tampa. Julio A.: You gotta stop underestimating. Julio Elder: Tampa over the Brewers, which I like the Brewers too. Who do you think? Julio A.: You're you're a East Coast bias. This is what the problem is in the media. You're a East Coast bias. Hector B: That's what it that is what it is. Julio Elder: East coast and cut the and kinda south. They're the closest to Puerto Rico too, you know, so Hector B: That's what it is. I Julio A.: Hector, please settle this. Where are you headed with this? Hector B: I would say I say it's gonna go seven games. I think it's gonna go seven games, but I'm gonna give it to Tampa in seven games. And I'll I I I I'll tell you why. Julio A.: Everyone's counting out the brews. Hector B: I'm not counting out the I think they're both amazing teams. I love their manager as well. the Brewers manager. I think he's a phenomenal manager. Julio A.: Murphy? Julio Elder: Murphy. Hector B: Very, yeah, very old school type of guy. But at the same time, I I think Kevin Cash is a phenomenal, phenomenal manager as well. But the Rays, they have a coaching staff that it's not Kevin Cash alone. It's the entire coaching staff. It's the entire organization. Julio A.: Well there you go. Hector B: I know the Brewers, they have Brewers ball, but when you look at it, the the Tampa Bay Rays were able to take Freddie Peralta from Julio A.: Yep. Hector B: the New York Mets. Who were who was literally tossed aside, who was who was thrown to the wolves. Like he was sent to baseball purgatory as being you can't count on Freddie Peralta Julio A.: We talked about that. Hector B: no no more. They took him, they watched, they had him go Julio Elder: Coaching staff. Hector B: out there for a couple starts. They watched the film, they figured out what was wrong with him. And Freddie Peralta, in this last outing, Freddie Peralta threw 99 miles per hour. The last time he touched 99 miles per hour was like two or three years ago when he was Julio A.: He was a brewer. He was a brewer. Hector B: a bro, when he was a brewer. I think as well, when you look at the bench pleases that that the Milwaukee that the Tampa Bay Rays have, I'm a big fan of Richie Palacio's Julio knows that's a friend of Latino Sports, kid from Brooklyn. Love his story. He was cr critical in that series against the Yankees, he was crucial again in that series against Julio A.: Yeah. Hector B: the Cleveland Guardians. I think Richie Palacio is going to have you remember how Randy Arroz Arena how his he had had his breakout moment in the postseason Julio A.: Yeah. Hector B: when when the last time. The Tampa Bay Wade Rays went to the World Series. I think that's gonna be Richie Palacios, but I think this time the Rays are actually gonna win the World Series. Julio Elder: Y con y que tiene por Iquablo Hector B: And that's not and that's not me, no East Coast. I love both teams. I think both teams are phenomenal. It's a coin Julio A.: That's fair. Hector B: flip. It's 50-50. But if I had to look at it, I just think the way that the Tampa Bay Rays prepare themselves, it it's going to get them above. And also, if the Tampa Bay Rays win, it gives me a Yankee fan as an excuse to see, like, hey, at least the Yankees lost to the World Series champs. Julio A.: That I think that's one of the reasons why I don't want Tampa because they beat us so hard. These guys don't play that. They come out and they're gonna slap you and they're gonna keep slapping you. they also don't. Every single team that has played Tampa Bay in the playoffs has benefited, or the Tampa has benefited against every team in the playoffs when they fumble. You fumble your own bag, they smell blood, and they're gonna come at you. Because they're Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: pesky on the bases. The Brewers don't fumble. The Brewers play really solid, Julio Elder: Yeah, good defense for sure. Julio A.: good. They are not going to beat themselves. Cleveland Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: beat themselves on a few occasions. Jose Ramirez Julio Elder: Mentito, yeah. Julio A.: can't be giving errors to a team like the Rays. The Brewers don't do that. And so there's no game to steal here and there. You're going to have to earn it. And I just don't think they Hector B: I think I Julio A.: have the firepower to do. Hector B: I think what what's what what can hurt the hurt the Brewers and help the Rays is when's the last time the Brewers play the baseball game? We know in baseball the team that gets a lot of rest, it it takes them a while to get back. If you give a team a week off Julio A.: I think generally speaking, I don't like that argument. Cause first of all, that's on a case-by-case basis. Right? If you just swept a two-time champ and you use the grip of arms to do it, seven days probably helps. if I'm not mistaken. Game one is in Milwaukee. And so I don't think that that is going to be something where they have a choice but to come out full energy. If they were coming out on the road and they had seven days off and they got beat up in the process, I Julio Elder: Mm. Julio A.: think, you know, maybe, but those factors just aren't there. I think it's a case-by-case basis. And in this case, I think the Brewers are just hot. They're ready. Again, they took the two-time champs. and and Just destroyed them. Julio Elder: Max, Mac, Mac, Smack. Julio A.: You know what I mean? Whereas, you know, the other series, like you know, I didn't really I I thought Cleveland was gonna win it to be honest with you. I thought they had more star power. I thought they had the better pitching. I don't think they had the better bullpen, but I thought they had the better star. I'll also say I didn't give Rasmussen as much credit as he probably deserves. That boy's Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: a beast. you know, I I I got so caught up in the regular season in our guy who's gonna win. The Cy Young, right? I got so caught up in Massachusetts. What's his name? At our pitcher. Hector B: you're talking about Cam Slitler? Slitler. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Julio A.: Schlitler. I got Julio Elder: Sit. Julio A.: so caught up in Schlitler that I didn't even pay attention. Like Tampa's the Rasmussen's the real deal. Right? And and so Hector B: Yeah. Well when he pitches against the Yankees, when he pitches against when he pitches against the Yankees, he turns into Sandy Koufax, he turns to into Randy Johnson and his prime. Julio Elder: Ha ha ha. Julio A.: Bro, he's incredible, right? Maybe that's Hector B: But the but the the the Guardians touched him up in that game that they that they that they pit that that he pitched against the Guardians in and I think it was game one or game two. But no, I I agree Julio A.: G it was right. Hector B: I agree with you, Julio. It's it's a case by case basis. You know, it it can either hurt you or it can either help you, right? If you're a team that you played seven games and then you only have two or three games to prepare to face a team that is gonna Julio A.: Right. Hector B: have a home field advantage and you're going to be on the road and now you have to pack up, head to Milwaukee. They just had a whole week off. So yeah, it's a it's a case by case basis. Some players thrive, some players don't. I just wanna point out when it comes to the Dodgers and the Brewers beating them, yes, that's a big leap. Like that's a big you you you You conquered the mountain by beating the Dodgers. The Dodgers offense went into they disappeared. Shohi Otani only had that home run. Mookie Julio Elder: Hey. Hector B: Betts, Freddie Freeman, that they're three or four big hitters. Julio A.: But is that a is that is that a is that an issue of them getting old or is that because Milwaukee's pitching is that good? Hector B: No, that's that's no no no that's because they're it's a it's dumb getting old because against the against the the Atlanta Braves and the and the NLDS, Julio Elder: They look like an old team for sure. Hector B: both all all of those players, the reason why the Dodgers advance and pass and beat the Braves is because of Andy Pajes and it's because of Kike Hernandez. Like that's Julio A.: Right. Right. Hector B: why they were able to beat the Braves and advance to the NLCS. It's just Kike and Andy, they aren't superstars. They can't do it round after round. Julio A.: They cannot. Hector B: You need Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Shohei. Shohe Otani got injured. And then a Julio A.: They definitely look old. Hector B: and then a bunch of people online started rumors about Shohei Otani. Listen, the no one believes Julio A.: Tá. Hector B: that Shohei Otani is on PEDs. The Japanese media doesn't believe this. Julio A.: Tá, está por olha. Hector B: It's just random accounts on Twitter that's spreading false narratives because let's face it, they're racist. Yeah. Julio A.: This clickbaity. I don't even want yeah, but also that's neither hand. Julio Elder: Well let me ask let me ask you guys one another question. Last question. The fact the fact that you got two teams, two teams that Hector B: Wrap it up, Pops. Julio Elder: nobody expected, right? Low market teams, small baseball teams, Major League Baseball, you think they'll be able to promote this game like they would have loved to have seen an East Coast, West Coast team? They these are two small market teams. Major League Baseball must be going through changes on trying to, you know, promote this particular World Series game. Julio A.: No, you don't you don't pr you don't promote it now. These are this is what the NFL's good at. These are storylines that start in preseason. You know what I mean? Like you follow a Jackson Chirio and and a Wilson Contreras and and you know like right these things start way earlier Hector B: Yeah. Julio A.: so that you've got the storylines built in by the time the thing comes. Major League Baseball doesn't think like that. And so no, I don't see it. Hector B: Yeah, Major League Baseball. They they they weren't promoting Jackson Churios, Julio A.: They were not. Hector B: like Julio said. They weren't promoting Contreras. So you can't come two days before the World Series thinking Julio A.: You cannot. Hector B: that you're gonna take ten million dollars and put that into AdSense and use that to promote your guys on YouTube. Because now all of a sudden, my YouTube commercials is Jackson Churios. My YouTube commercials is players from the Rays. It's weird, right? Julio, like it's very weird that now all of a sudden. Julio A.: Little leaf of that. Hector B: Yeah, now all of a sudden YouTube ad senses those players. You had a whole season to do it, but yeah, hopefully Julio A.: You had a whole season. And these guys didn't come Julio Elder: Well that's the Julio A.: out of nowhere. These are guys that were to like, again, the Camine Camineros of the world, like sh he's the next superstar. I know he's a Ray, but like, so what? In soccer in Europe, you got teams that are not Barcelona, Hector B: Mm-hmm. Julio A.: that are not Real Madrid, but their star is marketed like that. You know what I'm saying? So, like, you you it's possible. Hector B: Yeah. If if you g if you go on if you go on MO if you go on MOB social media and you see the views and comments and interaction Junior Cameronario had, if you're a social media manager, you gotta milk that. Like your next Julio A.: Milk it. Hector B: five to six posts should be about junior. It shouldn't be about players that aren't in the postseason anymore. It needs to be about junior. But hey. Julio Elder: Well, there's definitely gonna be a conversation Julio A.: Agreed. Julio Elder: in these winter meetings and on this upcoming contract. So that's for a conversation for another day. Hector. Julio A.: I don't wanna talk about the I don't wanna talk about yep, the w l let's wait till the World Series is over before we talk about that. Julio Elder: Thank you so much, Hector, for taking the time to be with us. Julio A.: Appreciate you, Hector. Peace. Julio Elder: Love you guys. Hasta la próxima. Hector B: Love you guys. Appreciate y'all. Julio A.: All right. Well, thank you so much, everybody. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe. Comment below. Julio Elder: And thank you for your comments. Thank you for your comments. Julio A.: Let's let's let's give Hector a big shout out. What do we think about Hector? Let's get some comments in there. And you know, we're gonna get Hector back on the show. So if there's any topics you want him to talk about specifically, like let us know. Let us know. Hit us up. Thank you very much. Julio Elder: Yeah, he is a walking dictionary. Julio A.: This is the No Good Sports Podcast hosted by the two Julio's and we will see you next week. Julio Elder: God bless. Bye.
