Please welcome in the one, the only Chay Watson. Chay, welcome in. Chey Watson: Hey everybody. Pete: Look, you're trying to mess up my intro and everything, guys. But anyways, I invited Che to come back because, you know, we never got to hear her story. Che and I have been talking this for a long time. She's dealt a lot of things. So Che's here to share what parts of it she'd like to share. Obviously, y'all know that's how we do things here. Trigger warning anybody this may be a tricky episode. if if something gets said in here, we do apologize. We just want to make sure you understand that this conversation could get a little rough and everything like that bias. But you we're here to support people to have the open space. So, Che, why don't you tell everybody a little more about yourself? Chey Watson: let's see, I grew up in a very dysfunctional family. yada, yada, yada. Didn't really get therapy until I was in my late twenties. Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: because I grew up around a stigma that was for weak people it and crazy people and all that stuff. And so I'm trying to Flip the script a little bit of how things have gone down in my life because I've been told so many times that I was the one causing the harm and and when really all real all reality they were the one causing the harm to me. And I ended up being institutionalized a couple times. Those were not like my greatest moments, I will say that much. They were very ri they're not Pete: I mean it Chey Watson: what they they're not what they Make it out to be on TV. Pete: Let me let me make this statement really clear. Anybody listening at home, if you're judging my buddy Che, go fuck yourself. Because honestly, if she was there, something had her put she had to be there for reasons. You know, don't don't judge people until you know the full story. Take Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: it away. Take it away, Che, I got you. Chey Watson: And let's just say I was in a very abusive marriage, where he actually psychologically, mentally, physically, financially, every kind of abuse you can think of, he pretty much rolled it all into one. And which caused me to go into some psychotic breaks and ended up in the inst institution. And There were few that actually caught on that I was being abused, but my mind was still in the phase of I love him. I would never try to hurt Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: him. So it was like it was a constant battle of like while I was in there because he had people in there convinced that I was actually completely cuckoo and that I was misinterpreting and confusing him with my stepfather, who was also abusive to a p to a degree. He was a more he was very he was a very well hidden abuser, to so to speak. But this one, my husband, I won't say his name, But he did everything he could to like keep control over me. And it was very, very, very hard and and very difficult. Like I my heart goes out to anyone in an abusive relationship. whether it be whether it be like psychological or emotional or verbal, it's still abuse no matter which way you put it. If it's making you feel some type of way, making you feel crazy. And they're gaslighting you and doing all of these things, making you question who you are as a person. Honey, sorry to break it to you, but you're you're being abused. It was it took I can't tell you how many times I actually tried to leave. he would berate me and do the whole whatchamacallit, like try to intimidate me, make himself look bigger. I'm only like five foot two and a half. He was like six foot. So And I've always had the before him, I always had the mentality of like I can take any man like fuck you. Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: Like I had that kind of attitude. Like I don't give a fuck what you're gonna do to me. And for some odd reason when I got with him, it was like that person just kind of Not n necessarily died, but like Pete: It got muddled basically because if you think about it, he knew how to control you. Me he was he was dug gaslighting Chey Watson: Yeah. Yeah. Pete: you, say obviously gaslighting, intimidating you, doing all these things he knew what he could do. And once he figured out how to get to you, it was like Chey Watson: yeah. Pete: he he already knew, like Superman Script now, he knew how to get to you. And that's why that part of you obviously was going away because he controlled everything. And like you said, he got you, you know, got you so worried Chey Watson: Anyway. Pete: that you didn't want to leave that you're like, well, you know, and I remember we had these private conversations where you were bouncing back and forth like You know, I really still love this and that. I'm like, but that's not lo you know what I mean? Like you could see you were struggling internally. Chey Watson: Exactly. Yeah. And then not to mention Pete even like experienced him trying to control the situation when I left Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: him. When I finally had left him and I had already like went out the door and I was actually in a safe space. He was pr he actually got onto my social media and Pete had to like Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: step back at me, like, I gotta protect myself. Like you let me know when Pete: Yeah. And and you know Chey Watson: This is all you get you got control over your your social media. And I'm like, all right, I'll let you know, man. Like, peace. Pete: You know, because it was it was just like he would paint the picture like she's the crazy one, but it wasn't her. Like, if you know, a lot of times with people, if you watch the dialogue they use and then you see somebody else talking to you, you know it's not them because you can tell because he's like, Well, I hacked her account. Why are you hacking her account? Like, you know, these questions I asked so why are you hacking her account? You know what mean? Like Chey Watson: Mm-hmm. Pete: it was just it's fucking it's just crazy things that people do. It's like you're hacking your account. She left. Obviously, she left for a reason. I know why she left. I wasn't telling him I knew everything because I'm not gonna I'm not gonna put her in that situation. Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: You know, and then I watched her struggle, you know, but I'm so happy to see that she's she's happier now. She's she's doing better, she's in a better place. She has a son now, you know, and it's hard with kids too, because I guarantee he was weaponizing the kid against her too. You know what I'm saying? Like it was just like I've seen some w idol shit. Chey Watson: yeah, 100%. Like used it as my mental used it as my mental health as an excuse because he Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: was also he's also with my my abusive parents. So it's like a it's kind of one of those situations. It's really hard. Pete: yeah. Chey Watson: It's really hard to actually have to communicate with them as well as being able to communicate with my son. And he made it that much worse than it actually should have been. Like Yes, my parents may have fucked up raising me and done done a lot of things, but I feel like they're actually putting in an effort towards doing better with I like I again, they're using it as their second chance, but at the same time, like my I see my mom putting in the effort that she didn't really put in with me when I was going through such things, you know? And it it makes me want to cry because I was just like, man, why couldn't you be that why couldn't you have been that mom for me, you know? Like I was going through Pete: Exactly. Chey Watson: so much. Like I should have went I should have been in therapy like a long time ago, like when I was a kid. Cause I witnessed so much and experienced so much in such a short period of time. Like they I've been diagnosed with w even though it's not recognized in the US, the US complex PTSD. so they have to like put it as PTSD on paper. but in therapy sessions, they still recognize it as the CPTSD. Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: And before I had moved to where I am now, I had this amazing therapist. Like I I have like practically moved mountains with her with my progress. And like if it wasn't for her and my psychiatrist Patrick, because they were the first, the very first like medical team to actually listen to me when I when it came to my mental health because I said, Hey, look, I really want to be re-evaluated because a lot of the stuff that's going on with me has been controlled by my husband. And he even had like told all the doctors, all my psychiatrists, all of my therapists, like every single symptom I was having. And which weren't true and he was he was controlling the dialogue and the the the symptoms and all that and they actually believed me and I told them a little bit about what happened and I was like, This is what led to this and there was a lot that just happened to where I was like this forced to be reckoned with to someone who became like so small because of Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: all the damage that was already done before he was even in in the game prior. Like I was already so battered. Like it was really easy for him to actually like Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: gain control. Because I was like pretty much going like well apparently the decisions I've made has got me practically nowhere, even though I've done nothing but try Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: to do my best. And I was that person that didn't do drugs. I was that person that never tried anything but actually smoke weed. And so it was like really hard for me to come to realization that even though I I felt like I did everything right, that I was a failure because I had a kid that was supposed to be who who was depending on me. And there was even times before I met him, like I was I was struggling even before him. Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: be like I got I was assaulted by a police officer and ended up in jail for two months in Texas. And and the crazy thing is is that now when I look at my charges, there there used to be description about why they were dismissed and it said dismissed in the interest of justice. And I have a screenshot of it, and that was just a couple months back. And now it's saying just disposed and no reasoning behind it whatsoever. And then it goes into detail of what they did of the process of that charge and what they went through. And those were pending felonies. And that like ultimately practically decided whether or not I was getting my son and I lost custody. So Pete: So so Jay, let me ask you really fast. When the cops picked you up, did they do a psych evaluation with you at all? Even see if maybe Chey Watson: Nope. Pete: See, that's the weird thing I don't understand. I think we need to push more for police officers to have somebody trained mental health-wise to come out and handle those situations for people that might be in that area. That way it's better handled in situations like your own. You know what I'm saying? And I bet you that's what they realized. Chey Watson: yeah. And I had just went Pete: And that's probably what they realized. They fucked up. They're like, Well, you know what? no, this girl could have been this girl may have been having a Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: moment or something and we didn't handle this right, so now we're trying to cover our trails. Chey Watson: Yeah. And then a psych evaluation was actually ordered and then Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: it was then it was cancelled. Pete: Telling you. Telling you that's what happened. Telling you man. I this Chey Watson: Yeah, and it said requested by client. And I was just like, no, I didn't. I may have like not been on my meds, but I remember exactly what the fuck happened. That's what I Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: feel like people miss are misinformed about when it comes to Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: mental health, is that they think that you're so fucked up in the head you're not remembering correctly what happened. Because not because I don't feel like everyone is in that category where their mind doesn't correlate what's actually happening. And they're not hallucinating. They're like, okay, this is actually happening. And it actually ends up traumatizing you further because they're not they're not handling you correctly, because they're handling you as a person who is hallucinating or who is a schizophrenic because of Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: certain certain little things that you're you're doing. And like, and then that also ends up making you like When you're in psychiatric wards, like that that tends to make you very vulnerable because there's people in that industry who who actually target those those women and and men and like end up abusing them. And I happen to be one of the victims, like in a place in Maryland when my when I was trying to like escape my husband one of the first few times. And I bounced around a lot in a lot of states and bouncing from friends to family and his friends and my family and God, it was just the whole, like the how the whole story just went down. Like I someone like recently told me, like I've I've been told that, my gosh, Shine, your your life is like a soap opera. And then someone's like, man, you're living like a lifetime movie. And I'm just like, bro, if I could sell my rights. Pete: Let me g let me guess they said write a write a book. They said, write a book. Listen, there's a woman that lives in Texas. She's in the North Houston area. she had a similar simulation, similar situation though. Hers was that first off, she couldn't have the camera on for her own protection. That's how bad it was for her. Her husband was a covert narcissist. Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: kind of like yours a little bit, 'cause they're like they hide everything. They don't tell people anything. you know, not saying that we're we're officially classified by him with that button. Chey Watson: Yeah. And I didn't do I didn't document anything because he wouldn't let me have a phone or anything. Pete: Mm. Chey Watson: Like it was so it was really hard for me to actually prove what he did. Pete: I believe it. I believe it. I believe it hundred percent, but what you're saying though is one hundred percent fits in that category. Not giving it an official diagnosis, obviously, because I'm not a doctor. I'm just telling you what it sounds like similarity to. But that woman had wrote a book called Bridesmaid, and and she was talking about it too. And the funny thing was she lived about thirty minutes away from where I was in Texas at that point when she had written the book. so like I'm surprised you haven't said write a book about your story, about how it was and everything else, you know. I I think a lot of people would read it honestly, because a lot of people don't realize that they're in the same situation you are. I had another woman on the show, I'm trying to what it was hers, cultivating freedom was the book. she came on and she talked about exactly about that narcissistic partners and things like that too. And then she had a guidebook Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: on how to identify it in and things like that too. But you know But I'm I'm just happy that, you know, you're in a better place now. You're you're doing what you need to Chey Watson: yeah. Pete: do. You know what I mean? You know, despite all these things that people have told you and everything else that you've gone through, you know, you're still showing that, you know, no matter what, I'm still here. you know, and it's great though, man. It's great. So let me do I did Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: want to ask you about the tortured Sally thing. When did you come up with that identity? Chey Watson: Well, it was because I've always been a nightmare for a Christmas fan. And Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: and then I always called myself a tortured poet be and then I I always related to Sally because I felt like she was so misunderstood and she was controlled a lot in her life and what she had to do and say and and how to be and it just I related To her character so much. And then like, and I was also a hopeless romantic. So I did the whole like, my gosh, I can't wait to find my Jack one day kind of thing. And then it just I was writing a bio about myself and And I started talking about Sally and how she had a tortured soul and it and it turned from tortured tortured so tortured soul to tortured poet, then to tortured Sally and then my Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: then the year I was born and I was just like, you know what? I feel like I don't know if people are gonna get it, but I feel like it's a it's one of those things like I feel just a play on that. actually my Halloween costume because of some of the things that I went through in my abusive marriage. I know there's not a lot of people who are gonna get and they're gonna see as a very morbid and satire like Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: sense of humor. But for me it's like it's how I'm I'm how I'm I I'm like coping with it because Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: it like I still find myself like Because I had lost a baby during that during that marriage. And it was a very hard, very difficult time because I was going through PPP at the same time and then and I having postpartum depression right afterwards. Like it was just Pete: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: it was just one thing after another, man. And then it was a high risk pregnancy. And because of it being a high risk pregnancy, I had to keep my blood pressure down and being in a narcissistic rel an abusive relationship, as people know, is very hard for you to because you're doing those constant high and lows and then when you're in a high Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: risk pregnancy, it just eventually it takes its toll and like I remember I can tell the exact night that I I know that I probably lost my baby was it was the day before ne it was New Year's Eve and I had I ended up seeing a message from someone that he had talked about before and it was a man's name. But me being a woman and I know how men are, they're not gonna tell another guy and be like, Hope you got home safe. text me when you wake up. Pete: Listen, hold up, hold up. I I tell people that all the time. So ma'am, you could you could take that. Maybe everybody Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: else, but Pete does that to people. If they're young guys or you know. Chey Watson: It's different. It's me and you are a different breed though. Okay. Like, Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: but they'll like men will do that with women. And women will do that with men. But you don't see very often that men will do that with other men. Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: Like, unless they are like drunk and I was like, hey, buddy, let me know you made it home safe. Yo, like, Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: kind of thing. But no, it was more of like how the message was worded. It was definitely from Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: a woman. And and I looked up. on the messages and I was just like, I don't normally snoop because one, I was more it was more of because I was too afraid of what I was going to find. Already Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: knew what I was going to find, but to actually like give it the space of like existing was so difficult for me. Like even right now, my legs are kind of shaking because I remember that night. Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: like finding those messages and like having my world completely just crashed down on me because I actually saw the proof like for the very first time and I I just I stood there I kid you not for probably thirty minutes just appalled and like flabbergasted and just like my whole it felt like my whole being had just sunk and Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: and I even like felt the pain in my belly because I felt like like I felt like the baby could feel my pain at that point because it was like the ultimate betrayal because I actually saw what was going on. I saw like these conversations and it was just It was just it was terrible. I was just like, my God, this is actually for real happening. Like Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: this is this is no longer this is no longer just assuming what's going on because of the behavior. This is like this is the legitimate proof. And He ended up waking up and he would did the whole like fake nonsense, like, what are you doing with my phone? Kind of nonsense. And I was just like, Yeah, I I know you can you kind of keep it, you know, away from me where I can't really get it ever. And I I saw that it went off and I just assumed it was one of the guys trying to check in for tomorrow because we owned a tree service. Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: And and I was like, and I'd let them know that you would you get back to them in the morning. Like and and he just like he didn't think anything of it. And I was like, but when I did that, your phone went off and this guy named Thomas messaged you and from some for some odd reason the message just didn't feel right to me. And so I went to click on it and I clicked on it and I saw all these messages because I was gonna be like, yeah, he made it home safe because I figured that because the way he had portrayed it is that him, Thomas, and another person that we both knew that I that I knew personally Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: and have met. So he mixed up with someone who I didn't know along with someone else that I knew. Claiming they went out for a drink or two, whatever and they were having a conversation. Well, Pete: But listen though, remember this goes back to the how the the words see, you know what I mean? Like I was telling you with him when he tried to say you start saying something weird. I knew it was him versus you based on the way the dialogue was given. And it's the same thing that you're reading. Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: You know what I'm saying? Like you know now, you know like you knew what I'm talking about because you've seen it before though. So yeah, no, I agree. You could tell the difference. Chey Watson: Yeah. Yeah. It he wasn't he wasn't my first narcissist, that's for sure. But he was the first first one that I like let get in so deep that it like it. Pete: Cha sh Shay, I love how you just said that. You're like, it's not my first one, you know. There's been other ones. You know, and it's funny you say that though. It's it's a pattern thing that we all go through, like me the same way. My first one, and then my wife that Chey Watson: Yeah, and it and they it Pete: you knew about, remember when I was in Texas when we were we were messaging about being on the show, she Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: was a narcissist as well, too. So, you know, but it's just like the pattern of things we get into, you know, and it's it's crazy. Chey Watson: Yeah, and it all stems from, you know, actually really me, I've figured out, even though they say like it's a stigma, it stems from your childhood and it really does. Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: Because I found out that my family, they're all living in a pattern. Like every single person that is a woman or even a man is in a abuse an abusive relationship. Like it's and my cousin, like she saw Like she was the only one who actually seen that I was in abusive relationships. She would check on me constantly. And like she's the one who who saved me from this one, not Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: just this time, but the last time when she tried to get them away from me. In all honesty, the hospital that I ended up in, they're the reason why I ended up back with my husband, because there was a protective order in place. But it hadn't gone through yet because he filed Pete: That's a George Crab. Chey Watson: he filed for an emergency evaluation on me around the same time. And they made me miss my appointment. And so he was able to come in and out of the hospital as he pleased. So, you know, and it was just, it was a whole mess. And like there's Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: just there's just like if people There's people that have heard some of my story and they're just sitting there going, like, you know, you have grounds to like sue these people and this person and this person and Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: this person. I'm just like, yeah, that all takes money, you know? Like I Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: was you've got to find the right people. And I'll just like in all honesty, it's one of those things that I just don't I don't want to pursue and like inject my life because I feel like it it's too much negativity. Like When I Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: was actually speaking to the detective when it came to my case with my husband, I just like it made me really emotional when I sent that message after I sent it. But I pretty much told her, like, you know what? Like, just forget about it. I hope that when things actually go down and it and it I hope it doesn't go down this road, but I hope that when his name pops up. that it's not another bot, it won't be an actual body that you're picking up because of him. And Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: I was like, I was like, because I was almost that person. And I was like, if it wasn't for this protective order that the state that I'm in rewarded me, I was like, I and the fact that he kept trying to convince me to lift that protective order, like it scared me because he was so adamant about me lifting Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: the protective order. And I was just like, I I don't know what his plans are. Like he is he was like he followed me all the way from Texas into Maryland and knew exactly where I was. Like and he was working near me. and it wasn't until like I wanna say back at the very beginning of March when I finally like he finally stopped talking to me. But he's made his appearance here and there through like random profile, fake pro pop profiles and trying to like pretend Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: to be somebody else. Like, just recently someone made a fake profile, like with my whole name involved. And I was just like, mm-hmm. Pete: I'm waiting for somebody like a fake profile about me, man. I'm like, damn, well how they would act, I'd wonder, you know, like damn, could can Chey Watson: Just like Pete: somebody take that task on, please? I'm waiting for it. Like I'm waiting for somebody trying to personate me because I just think it'd be funny to see. Chey Watson: It was just and they added a bunch of men. And I was just sitting here going, I was like, I guess they're trying to make me like, you know, I mean, I know this is like the whole like patriarchy monog bullshit, Pete: Right. Chey Watson: whatever, but they're trying to make me look like a whore pretty much. And Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: because it was literally nothing but men. And I was just like, Wow, I I must I must really be trying to put an in because that's this is that's that's this is insane. And the The page had only the page had Pete: This conversation. Chey Watson: only been up for a day and it was already over three hundred friends like Pete: listen, just make friends easily, that's all it is, man, you know? Chey Watson: I was just like, it was, it was beyond me. Like it was, it's just crazy. Like, and like I I look at some of the messages now that like tormented me. that Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: I would literally just sit there and like read over and over again and just stew about. I'm just like, my God, like like there's this one in particular that like really fucked with me. like it was just like it tore me apart because losing our child was like one of I had blamed myself because Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: I didn't get out in time and I kept promising myself like I would talk to him. I would talk to we named him Alcietes, but I would I would talk to Alciethes going like I'm gonna get us out of here. Pete: I love that name. Chey Watson: Like right. And we came up with it together. So it was one of those things I was just like, you know, there were like you find yourself doing that, like, yeah, there were some good times, you know. And then Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: it function it and it's and you you do that little tug of war a little bit sometimes Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: too still. And like no matter how much time goes by, there's still that little bit of a tug of war where you like still want to see them as that good person that Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: they showed you at some point or in the very beginning or like you know throughout sporadically. But like one of like the things that it I've found the most difficult to overcome is like the you poor thing. I'm so sorry you went through that. Like it it's like I don't want you and like we've talked about in the previous p podcast. Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: Like I don't want people to pity me. I I want them to be like, my gosh, wow, you're still here. Like I was like I I don't know what you went through, but I I can only imagine like and it's like and Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: I don't want them to imagine because in all honesty it's like horrific, like just thinking about some of the things that he like would do to me. Like it it was like and I was pregnant and like like I'm just Pete: Yeah. So Chey Watson: sitting there going, Wow, like why would you man Pete: So I did wanna ask you something though, would you ever consider releasing those messages eventually for other people out there to start seeing the signs ahead of time? Chey Watson: Yeah. For sure, one hundred percent. Pete: I think I think I think you could do that. And then I know we've we talked in private. You were you're considering doing a podcast too. not Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: trying to put it on full blast for everybody, but you know, just we don't we talk about in private. We talk about a lot of things in private about that stuff. But she but Chey Watson: Yeah, we do we we definitely do. Pete: but I'm saying though is that for I think that you could be the the movement for change for people, you know. You can take your own story and inspire other people. Just you being here today, sharing the story alone is doing a lot. Someone's gonna hear this and find out that they're not the only person dealing with this. you know, and things like that too. Now you may get backlash, of course, 'cause some asshole's gonna wanna be negative. But I think I I know I know you're ready though. Listen, I know y but I know you're ready. Chey Watson: yeah, for sure. That's that's one of the things that I'm not gonna lie, that's one of the things I'm afraid of. Like it's like I don't know if I'm gonna be able, like I don't know if I'm gonna be able to be ready to be like, I'm gonna have to have a publicist like automatically be like, no shine, you cannot comment that and I'm gonna be like, fuck. I was like Pete: You know what? You you can the best way to go about it is just don't even don't even respond or be funny about when you respond to them. You're like, that's awesome. Congratulations. You know, Chey Watson: Right. Pete: I feel like you'd be the person that could do it, man. Just come back with something sarcastic every time they say something stupid because these things that people say are just absolutely fucking nutty, man. I've brought I've read some of Chey Watson: I feel like Pete: these posts. It's crazy. Chey Watson: I feel like I'm actually going to like take a little bit of with that podcast that I'm thinking about making of taking a little bit of like how the dumb blonde podcast goes Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: a little bit and bringing a little bit of my dating life because some of the shit these dudes do, like I can't tell you is it's just wild. I'm just like, my gosh. Pete: let me listen, listen, you start telling I'm listening to it. I love Dumb Blonde. I think she's great. I love th you know DSL Chey Watson: For real. She is she's getting like in the nitty gritty and I I like absolutely admire her. Pete: Well listen to listen, you can invite what did she call herself? God, I can't remember now. Whatever Sil Salee's whatever the hell name she decided to call herself the other day, the girl from looking through the glass, the mom. the other daughter too, she went through postpartum as well, though you didn't get a chance to meet Giselle, but Giselle was really cool too. they'd be Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: great cool people to do some episodes with and talk about that kind of stuff because Giselle's been Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: through the ringer too. You know, and just just kind of build off it from there, you know. Just like it's it'll be fun, it'd be fun to see where it goes. It's always fun when people get into the space. You know, they've just hit 15,000 downloads, as you heard on the show they were telling us. You know, it's it's it's really it's really cool to see where Chey Watson: Yeah, I know. It's like great for them. I was so excited for them on that one. That's a big feat. Pete: they came from. Yeah, because they came out reached out to me at one point, were asking me in the beginning, hey, how do I start this thing? I walked them through it, and it's just cool to see where it goes because like no matter how many different shows are in the same space, you have your own authentic voice, is what I tell everybody. And you know, that's that's you. It's you. Nobody can replicate you as a person, your personality, how you do things, how you decide to handle it, what you decide to share, you know, and and things like that too. So I like I encourage everybody to get into it. I talked to a guy at work, he was talking about doing them like, go for it, man. What what more do you have Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: to lose? If you've you does it doesn't work out, it don't work out for you. Is there a lot of work behind it? There's a lot of work behind it, but I mean it's worth it. Chey Watson: For real. Like, although there's a lot of work behind it. Like from what I've seen is that I've gathered is that I feel like would work for me when I'm do when I start is I'll make like little notations of so where I will where I'll start Pete: Mm-hmm. Chey Watson: and then where I'll end. Even though I probably won't end up where I'm going to want to, because again, I have ADHD like a motherfucker. So it's gonna be like we're gonna be like here and then we're gonna be here. Pete: Yeah. But but at the end of the day, though, it's gonna be you though. And a pi and a in a in Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: a sense it's gonna be the way you want to do things. You know, it'll be interesting to Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: see how it goes. You know, it's fun. Is it is it a lot of work? It is for me. I do I I spend a lot of work on it, but it's really not. I'll enjoy it. It's not really work to me. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy having these conversations with people. I spend endless times. Every time somebody talks to me, I'm always recording with somebody. You know, I'm always constantly recording things and and it's been great though. You know, after the two years, like it had I realized when I hit record yeah as of yesterday was the two year mark, like how many people this would influence just by talking about it and sharing my own. Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: You know, it was after the first half of the show of that first year, I decided to just say, Fuck it, I'm gonna open up out of thing. It seems like it was more approachable to people because I was just being just straight up forward about everything I deal with. You know, which which is but it's fun. Like I said, you'll have a fun time doing it because it's just you you doing your own thing. No wrong Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: way to do it. You know? And plus you have me to help you. You have everybody you have all the other people that you met that we'll all do podcast too, Maren and everybody else and things like that too. you know, that all all do the same thing. We all have a great time with it. It's a great it's fun, you know. You can interview people if you want to, you can do solo episodes, just get people A little feel for it, you know. You can do as long as you want. I've had people do 15 minute podcasts where they just do snackable sizes of things, you know, if that works for you. And it's it's all gonna come down to what works best for you at the end of the day. And you'll you'll know, but you got the right mindset. You're you're planning things out. I'm planning this. That's what I'm thinking. I'm gonna do this. You know, a lot of times I I don't plan mine because I interview people all day, every day. So like how'd I set this out to do Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: this? I I had no intentions ever doing a single episode by myself. I just don't like to be by myself in the space. So, you if I Chey Watson: Right. Pete: could it's like having a best friend to come talk to you. The last few people I've interviewed this past week, I'll say the same thing. It's like talking to your best friend. I was like, hey, you know, cool. But you know, that that's what's gonna happen though. Like, watch, people are gonna start loving it, and then that's it, and then we're gonna be talking about have you come back when you're a podcaster with us, and it's it, man. You're gonna tell us about your adventures, like the wild stories you have. The dating thing will be fun Chey Watson: my gosh. Pete: to hear though, because I watched this woman on Instagram. She talks about her brothers, but I got a kick out of it every time I'm reading these messages people send these people. All those those are my favorite ones. Let's see what Chey Watson: my gosh. Pete: my let's see what people say in my DMs. And they're just pulling the shit up and I'm like, Chey Watson: Yeah, exactly. Like it's like like my my cousin was actually the one telling me that I should do it. And and I was just like, you know what? Because there's some off the wall shit these dudes say, and I'm just like, they really think this is gonna like I even advocate like the first thing that's on my little pro on my profile, my little about me section, it says I am a DV advocate. and mental health advocate. That right there should tell you do not try to play games with me. Like and I'm telling you, these motherfuckers shoot their shot. They really do. Pete: Listen, listen. You know, this is gonna sound fun, but hats off for you shooting your side and though you don't know how to read, man. Like fuck, man. Like that that's gonna be hard entertainment. I'm gonna literally just sit there and listen to this shit, laughing my ass off. Because those are my favorite things. I'm telling you, I love that shit. I'll sit there all day, laying back, I'm laying there at night, three in the morning, I'm scrolling through and I get those. I'm like, here we go. The fun's about to begin. You know, those th just the shit they say to people, so fucking hilarious because Chey Watson: For real. It's my gosh. Pete: Cause my friend Whitney that was on the show, I hang on her TikTok lives a lot of times with her, and she's a very beautiful woman. very smart, don't get me wrong, very intelligent woman. She blowed the socks off of most of these people that decided to say shit to her. But she's so funny because she's just like the comments she gets, I'm just like, Can y'all just stop, please? Like, you're just too much entertainment for me. I'm in the comments just taking turns, just ripping on them. Like, y'all are just something else, I swear to God. Chey Watson: For real. Like it's it's insane. Like, I think one of my favorites I got was I felt like it was really ignorant for him to send the message. Like he matched with me and then said, Man, all you girls are the same and have the same bios and all this other stuff. And I'm just sitting here going like Pete: How many of you have D V and Chey Watson: I'm not Pete: met the health advocating while waiting for you to answer that one, bud? Chey Watson: Yeah, for real. Like how many like because I haven't Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: I like I I I'm into both. So I was like, I'm sitting here going like I've come across Pete: Yeah. Chey Watson: several profiles and yet to see any like mine. But go ahead and try to group me in. Like we ain't trying to like I was I see I see you, buddy, but we're gonna go ahead and unmatch because I'm not gonna I'm not gonna argue with you. Like it's just it's just Pete: You you you gonna call that part of your episode co Che's Dating Corner with Che. And then you're gonna like you're gonna start revealing what these people are saying in these messages. So I'm I'm looking for that part. I'm like, yes, here we go. It's good. Chey Watson: My gosh. I'm gonna have I'm gonna have to learn to like block out their names and everything or Pete: Yeah you can you yeah you can do that easily. You can do it easily. Just read it and just give them another name. Just that'll be the fun part too is inventing new names for these people. You have to figure out come come come with some code names and shit. Yeah, re read it read it off with their own code names to and everything. Just like Chey Watson: my gosh, right, block it out and actually put a different name on there and like based off the conversation. Based off the conversation. Yeah. Pete: something about them that sticks out and you're like, you know, fuck you. Chey Watson: Like I'll even I'll even like include when I actually get a hold of the messages when I first started dating my my husband. my gosh. The things that that man would say were corny as fuck. And I'm just sitting here going, like, how in the what the fuck was I thinking? Like this shit was funny to me. Like this is like, no. No. And then like Pete: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Chey Watson: I see his mugshot, and I'm just sitting here going, like. What? Rose colored glasses, baby. Rose colored glasses is all I gotta say. Pete: But listen listen listen, that's that and you know what? We're gonna leave it right there at that guy's you know. Che, before we wrap up, we are gonna ask you the main important question. I know I asked you what your mental health song was. Did did you change it or do you have a new one for us? I I ask everybody that same question. All right, so Che, what what is that Chey Watson: I have a new one. I have a new one. It's Pete: mental health song? I'm ready for it. Chey Watson: Okay, hold on. I had just listened to it the other day. Pete: This I'm looking forward to these messages. I'm telling you what, man. I'll tell you I'm gonna laugh my ass off hysterically, dude. That is the greatest thing ever. I've thought about doing a show to people going down my Instagram feed, getting my videos. Chey Watson: The Not Your Barbie Girl by Ava Max. Pete: Okay, okay. That's a good one. I've never heard that one. I'll have to check it out. Chey Watson: 'Cause it's a it's it's a good twist on the whole I I'm a Barbie girl that instead Yeah. Pete: Yeah. Yeah, the old Aqua song. Yeah, that's that damn, that makes me old fuck. God, thanks for aging me on this one. Shit. I remember that song came out and I was just like, fucking people constantly played that. I was like, what the fuck, dude? Okay. All right. Yeah, enough. Chey Watson: Barbie, let's go party. Yeah. Pete: Okay. All right, Shay, we're at the end part of that episode. I'm gonna ask you that most important question. Okay, you ready? If you could break Chey Watson: Yeah. Pete: the stigma about mental health, what would you say that one thing is? Chey Watson: you are not weak. You are not any less than it does not make you any less of a human being or Does not mean you're not worthy of love or to have kindness or to have understanding. there are people out there that that are willing to be that person for you. Don't think you're out there alone. Like it it's it there is a there's a lot a lot bigger community than you think there is. And it's just up for you to re use your resources and actually look for them, guys. Like they they really are out there. Like don't give up. There's literally there's a there's a group for every single thing out there now, guys. Like, come on, the LGBTQ thing goes on for miles now. Pete: Yeah, yeah, that's true. Very true. Well, Shay, thank you so much for coming to hang out with me. I know this was a little nerve-wracking for you, but you know what? Somebody's gonna hear this and you're gonna change their life because they're gonna find out they're not alone. Before we wrap up, do you wanna let everybody know where they can find you? Instagram, TikTok, where you let them know where to come check you out. Chey Watson: Instagram and TikTok, I believe they're both Tortured Sally93. Let me check to be on the safe side. I'm not entirely sure. I'm like flipshay nine flips Pete: the Chey Watson: nine three on on Pete: TikTok should get that. Chey Watson: On TikTok and Tortured Sally ninety-three. And when you actually go to my Instagram, my Facebook is connected to it. shoot me a message if you'd like. if you're going through something and and you feel like you actually really need someone who just genuinely just listen or like you need a vent and not even have anyone respond or or say anything, and you just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like I will be. Pete: Right. Chey Watson: I will not be your punching bag, though don't don't let me don't let me mis misuse that word, but I will I will be that Pete: No, you're right. Chey Watson: person to let you let your rage out like this is this is your rage room for you to be able to do this. Pete: Okay. Alright, guys. With that being said, we're gonna wrap up this episode of Pete for Sanxy. You guys don't want to find me on Pete for Sanxiety. I'm on X all the way down to TikTok.
