- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Yesterday we talked about the power of sending handwritten notes in the mail.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Today let's look at another powerful way to personally connect with people.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Since high-speed internet and mobile phones started becoming more powerful 10 or 15 years ago, video has become a much more important medium.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: One of the ways to take advantage of video is to send people short, personalized videos.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Now there's a lot of reasons to do this.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: You can thank somebody, you can send a note of encouragement, you can follow up from a meeting, you can explain more about a client proposal, you can add some thoughts after a key conversation, or you can just point out something you appreciate about what the other person is doing.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: A personalized video forges a deep connection with the other person.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Because you took the time to create something specifically for them.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: It is rare and therefore it is valuable.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Now, even if you're not comfortable doing video, I really want to encourage you to practice and get comfortable with it.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Learn to make video your friend.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: People don't care if you don't come across like some big professional TV star or a movie star.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: In fact, the more real and authentic it seems, the better.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: The fact that it's from you is what makes it so powerful in the first place.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: I send personalized videos all the time.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: In fact, today is Friday when I'm recording this, and just yesterday I sent uh two or three personalized videos.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And actually both of those were pitches to clients.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: One was for coaching and one was for ghost training.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I don't use those just for proposals or to pitch clients or prospective clients.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I use personalized videos all the time.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I really love doing it because, again, it's a personalized connection.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: It's really easy to do.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: I actually use the Loom app.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: That's L-O-O-M.com.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: It makes it super easy and fast.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: I promise you that when you get into sending personalized videos, you'll find that it's a powerful, fun, and incredible tool for building your relationships and showing people that you care.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Think of somebody you can send a short video to and do it before the end of the day.
