- 0:00Speaker 1: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 0:02Speaker 1: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 0:05Speaker 1: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 0:07Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 0:09Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a

- 0:16Speaker 1: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 0:19Speaker 1: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona.

- 0:52Speaker 1: to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's the best new way to trade in sports. In
- 0:58Speaker 1: the past, if you wanted action on the game, you'd
- 1:01Speaker 1: put some money in, and if your team was doing
- 1:03Speaker 1: well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the
- 1:05Speaker 1: trade and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a
- 1:08Speaker 1: prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in
- 1:12Speaker 1: and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and Polymarket is simply the best prediction market. Better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 1:23Speaker 1: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 1:25Speaker 1: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 1:27Speaker 1: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 1:31Speaker 1: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 1:34Speaker 1: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 1:37Speaker 1: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free

- 1:44Speaker 3: Welcome back to Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered. The wildcard round
- 1:47Speaker 3: was electric.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It is over.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Tickets are punched to the Division Series. And I'm Anthony
- 1:53Speaker 3: Rizzo with my partner, David Ross, and we are bringing

- 2:14Speaker 3: at the end of every segment or every show. It's
- 2:17Speaker 3: our favorite part of our show. Rossi, The wildcard round,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I know it's stressful for teams and fan bases, but
- 2:26Speaker 3: as a fan of baseball, it is electric, man. You're
- 2:30Speaker 3: just pins and needles at all times.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Bro, that was such a great wildcard, and I think
- 2:34Speaker 1: the best teams moved on and played really well, and
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm so excited about these Division Series matchups. We've got
- 2:43Speaker 1: some heavy hitters in here, some of the best teams
- 2:45Speaker 1: in baseball. going the best teams in baseball going. And
- 2:48Speaker 1: I can't wait. I, we gotta, we gotta kick it
- 2:50Speaker 1: off with the Yanks race, bro. I, I, I think
- 2:53Speaker 1: my personal opinion, the winning the world series is coming
- 2:55Speaker 1: out of this, this, this, uh, matchup, this series.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt. I mean, a hundred percent representing the
- 3:02Speaker 3: American league is coming out of this series. Right. So
- 3:06Speaker 3: I think so. I mean, the Yankees looked absolutely dominant.
- 3:11Speaker 3: It's the day off of, sweeping the Red Sox, just
- 3:15Speaker 3: everything went their way. Aaron Boone pulled all the right moves.
- 3:19Speaker 3: He didn't really, there wasn't anything controversial, but who he
- 3:22Speaker 3: started when they played in both games, there was two
- 3:25Speaker 3: different lineups. They dominated. And if you're the Rays, you're
- 3:30Speaker 3: sitting there like, all right, like shaking your head, like
- 3:32Speaker 3: we're the best team in American League. But Rossi, that
- 3:36Speaker 3: five-day layoff is no joke. I've done it before. It sucks.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah, and the Yankees are riding it high, right? That
- 3:44Speaker 1: offense looked electric, and guys didn't get at bats for
- 3:47Speaker 1: a couple days. Like you said, the platoon matchups, lefty, righties,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and they all looked good. They two-strike hit, hit the
- 3:54Speaker 1: ball in the seats. Like, everybody looks locked in, and
- 3:57Speaker 1: they're without Aaron Judge. So the Rays have played better
- 4:01Speaker 1: at home, one of the best teams in baseball at home.
- 4:05Speaker 3: That's something to look at. Yeah, because that place sucks
- 4:07Speaker 3: to go to. Just so everyone knows, And the guys
- 4:11Speaker 3: from Tampa will say this. There's no shade on the
- 4:15Speaker 3: players or Kevin Cash because I have utmost respect. That
- 4:19Speaker 3: place sucks to play. It's now the worst. I haven't
- 4:22Speaker 3: played in Sacramento, but it used to be Oakland and Tampa, right? So, yes,
- 4:27Speaker 3: they are a very good team, but it sucks going there.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Well, and they haven't pitched well there. I think they're
- 4:33Speaker 1: like against the Rays. It's like a little over a two,
- 4:37Speaker 1: the pitching staff at home. For the Yankees, on the road,
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's over a four. The offense, they're two and five
- 4:45Speaker 1: when they play at the Trop, and I think it's
- 4:47Speaker 1: four and two in Yankee Stadium. So the Rays are
- 4:50Speaker 1: going to have to get off to a good start.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think it's a tough place to play. I think
- 4:54Speaker 1: Aaron Judge has to be completely healthy to play that outfield.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I don't know if he's still on the roster, which
- 4:59Speaker 1: is going to be a whole other decision that they're
- 5:01Speaker 1: going to have to make.
- 5:02Speaker 3: That's a huge storyline.
- 5:04Speaker 1: A huge storyline. People are already talking about it. That's
- 5:06Speaker 1: all they want to talk about. I was like, how
- 5:07Speaker 1: the heck is anybody supposed to know? I want to
- 5:09Speaker 1: talk about TV. It's like, we just, we didn't even
- 5:11Speaker 1: talk to anybody from New York today. Yeah, exactly. So
- 5:14Speaker 1: huge storyline. We've got some good pitching matchups. Garrett Cole,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you know, they got Rodan back. You're going to be
- 5:21Speaker 1: with the off days and be able to go Cole
- 5:22Speaker 1: Schlittler freed if they want. Yeah, I think is how
- 5:26Speaker 1: my lineup. Yeah. So pretty, pretty impressive matchups we're going
- 5:31Speaker 1: to have here. And the Rays play straight chaos baseball.
- 5:34Speaker 1: They run, they bunt. They've got power in there. They've
- 5:36Speaker 1: got speed. They do a little bit of everything.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think... I mean, the Rays went 7-6 versus
- 5:42Speaker 3: the Yankees, like you said. They have Drew Rasmussen on
- 5:46Speaker 3: the bump for Game 1. Rasmussen is an ace. He
- 5:49Speaker 3: dominates the Yankees. He was 16-5 this year. But that
- 5:52Speaker 3: goes out the window. You know what I mean? It's
- 5:54Speaker 3: going to be... These Tampa-New York games are always tight.
- 6:00Speaker 3: It doesn't matter who's pitching, honestly.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So.
- 6:03Speaker 3: It just feels like they're always these nail biters on
- 6:06Speaker 3: who executes and who gets the big hit. For me,
- 6:10Speaker 3: for Tampa, with how good they have been, their stars
- 6:13Speaker 3: need to start early. If Yandy Diaz or Caminero hits
- 6:18Speaker 3: a big home run early, that whole dugout exhales and
- 6:22Speaker 3: be like, all right, we got this, right? Sure. Because
- 6:25Speaker 3: as good as they were this year, they don't have
- 6:27Speaker 3: a lot of superstars in that lineup, right? Junior Caminero
- 6:31Speaker 3: is the guy. It's over 40-plus home runs. I think
- 6:35Speaker 3: he's the MVP of the American League. I know that's controversial,
- 6:39Speaker 3: but what he did this year carrying that team, him
- 6:42Speaker 3: and Yandy, if those guys get going really early in
- 6:45Speaker 3: that series, I would see the 96-raised team, 96 wins, right,
- 6:52Speaker 3: or 98 wins team. That's the team I think we're
- 6:54Speaker 3: going to see. But if they start off cold, man,
- 6:57Speaker 3: it feeds down.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Well, and two, you know you've got to go to
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yankee Stadium. You've been in that rivalry and in that environment.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I think the one thing that stands out to me
- 7:09Speaker 1: is there's teams that get intimidated by New York and
- 7:12Speaker 1: the atmosphere, the limelight, the whole pinstripe kind of just
- 7:17Speaker 1: carries a little bit more. The Rays aren't going to
- 7:19Speaker 1: have that. They know that they've beat them. They've been
- 7:22Speaker 1: in great competition with them all year, like you said,
- 7:25Speaker 1: seven and six. They know it's going to be a nail-biter.
- 7:27Speaker 1: They know they're going to have to play their game.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And New York's going to have to be fundamentally sound.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I think defense is going to come into play really
- 7:33Speaker 1: heavily for New York. We know how great their pitching is.
- 7:36Speaker 1: The lineup looks like as good as I've seen. Aaron
- 7:39Speaker 1: Boone even said, like, we played great baseball. If we
- 7:42Speaker 1: play like that, we're going to be in the World Series.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So they're going to have to continue to do that.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Boston didn't help themselves, but the Rays look like they're
- 7:50Speaker 1: locked and loaded. I'm sorry. I mean, New York looks
- 7:53Speaker 1: like they're locked and loaded, and the Rays are going
- 7:55Speaker 1: to have to get off to a good start with
- 7:56Speaker 1: a little bit of a layoff. Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 3: I mean, the Rays, they're good, man. And they've been
- 8:03Speaker 3: the Yankees kryptonite for years now, right? Small market team.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Always just finding these guys that come out throwing 100
- 8:11Speaker 3: miles an hour, hitting their spots. They're a factory. They
- 8:14Speaker 3: just keep producing homegrown talent and just they're so good, right?
- 8:21Speaker 3: They get Brian Baker. They turn him into one of
- 8:24Speaker 3: the best closers in the game now, right? From Baltimore. So,
- 8:28Speaker 3: Credit to their organization for the player development. It seems
- 8:32Speaker 3: like they do everything right. It seems like if you're
- 8:34Speaker 3: a pitcher, you want to be in the Tampa Rays organization.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Pitching matchups. Yeah, go ahead.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I feel like Kevin Cash pulls all the right strings
- 8:43Speaker 1: as well. He's been in the environment, knows his team.
- 8:46Speaker 1: They're not going to let guys go too many times
- 8:48Speaker 1: through the lineup. We know that narrative from the last
- 8:50Speaker 1: time they were in the World Series. I want to
- 8:53Speaker 1: go ahead and throw out my polymarket pick of the series.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Real quick, we've got the Rays are 48% on the yes,
- 9:02Speaker 1: $ 100 trade to get you back 201, and the Yankees
- 9:05Speaker 1: are 55% on the yes, and $ 100 trade gets you
- 9:09Speaker 1: back 176. I'm about making money, and I'm about the
- 9:14Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Rays for this one. I want my 100
- 9:16Speaker 1: to make me two. I want to double my money,
- 9:19Speaker 1: so I'm going with the Tampa Bay Rays in this series.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Well, what do they need to do to win this series, Rossi?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Man, they've got to pitch well. I feel like that
- 9:29Speaker 1: offense just looked relentless. Two-strike hitting versus Boston. Boston's no slouch, man.
- 9:34Speaker 1: They've got great, but Sonny Gray and Toley, they just
- 9:38Speaker 1: dominated that series, especially late. They just got better and better.
- 9:42Speaker 1: The Rays are going to have to get out to
- 9:43Speaker 1: a good start. They're going to have to play some
- 9:45Speaker 1: small ball. Chandler Simpson, these guys that move the baseball
- 9:49Speaker 1: and put pressure on you, and exactly what you said earlier,
- 9:53Speaker 1: The stars are gonna have to start yanni diaz caminero
- 9:56Speaker 1: these guys are gonna have to be great um a
- 9:59Speaker 1: ronda yet first base like they're gonna need the dudes
- 10:03Speaker 1: to have their at bats and not get too excited
- 10:05Speaker 1: and they know how good they are they know they
- 10:07Speaker 1: won the division they bought themselves that buy but now
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's go time it's a clean slate like we talk
- 10:13Speaker 1: about all the time everybody starts at zero again.
- 10:16Speaker 3: That's yeah it's gonna be must watch The Rays are
- 10:18Speaker 3: going with their ace, Rasmussen, and then probably after that,
- 10:22Speaker 3: we'll see Nick Martinez, Freddie Peralta, Griffin Jackson.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I think Nick Martinez, Peralta is what I would, in
- 10:28Speaker 1: my head, is how I would run it. Nick Martinez
- 10:30Speaker 1: has been great for them. Freddie Peralta really, after that
- 10:34Speaker 1: first start getting over to Tampa Bay, has really figured
- 10:36Speaker 1: that out and pitched well.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Okay, and now on the Yankees end, Garrett Cole, Cam Schiller,
- 10:44Speaker 3: Max Freed, Carlos Rodon. Gary Cole and Rodon can go
- 10:49Speaker 3: game one. If Booney decides he wants to fire Rodon
- 10:53Speaker 3: in game one in a big situation, he has that
- 10:57Speaker 3: threat in the bullpen that he can go to. So
- 11:01Speaker 3: it's going to be, I mean, the pitching side has
- 11:04Speaker 3: to go to the Yankees. They're four legitimate number ones.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Right?
- 11:10Speaker 3: You can argue maybe there's a two in there. Who's
- 11:13Speaker 3: a two in that relationship?
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, no. Not the way Rodon's pitched, no doubt.
- 11:17Speaker 3: And their bullpen, the Yankees' bullpen is the best bullpen.
- 11:20Speaker 3: You can say what you want about the rest of
- 11:21Speaker 3: the teams in the postseason. Every team has a dominant bullpen.
- 11:25Speaker 3: The Yankees' bullpen on paper is the best bullpen in
- 11:27Speaker 3: the league through the regular season. And they had Bednar
- 11:31Speaker 3: in the back end, and not a lot of guys,
- 11:35Speaker 3: guys that have stepped up. You have Paul Blackburn, Hendrick,
- 11:38Speaker 3: for the Yankees that have stepped up and made names
- 11:40Speaker 3: for themselves this year, but that's credit to Aaron Boone, man,
- 11:44Speaker 3: and the Yankees putting those guys in in the right
- 11:46Speaker 3: situations to thrive. I mean, the proof's in the pudding.
- 11:51Speaker 3: By the numbers, they have the best bullpen, and the Rays,
- 11:53Speaker 3: believe it or not, have the worst bullpen left in
- 11:56Speaker 3: the playoffs, which is hard to believe, right? Which means nothing.
- 12:01Speaker 3: This is October. Guys are going to be pitching all
- 12:04Speaker 3: out of their roles. The bullpen ERA is out the door,
- 12:08Speaker 3: but It's fun for us to talk about, right, Rossi?
- 12:10Speaker 1: It is. It is fun. This is going to be
- 12:12Speaker 1: a great series. We've got a lot of great series.
- 12:14Speaker 1: We've got a lot of great series.
- 12:16Speaker 3: My prediction on this one, Rossi, is the Yankees are
- 12:21Speaker 3: winning this one. I just think that the Rays, they
- 12:23Speaker 3: won 98 games. They're a fundamentally sound baseball team. Kevin
- 12:27Speaker 3: Cash has those boys always prepared to play. But I
- 12:31Speaker 3: just think that the Yankees come in there with momentum
- 12:35Speaker 3: from the Red Sox. This is a different Yankee team.
- 12:39Speaker 3: They were hitting tons of singles. They still hit the
- 12:41Speaker 3: long ball. They were getting on base. They were playing
- 12:43Speaker 3: good defense. If that translates early to this season, that momentum,
- 12:49Speaker 3: we've been saying this, their vibes are high. And if
- 12:51Speaker 3: they start off quick, they're going to stay high. And
- 12:54Speaker 3: you know down there in Tampa, Ross, you knew when
- 12:56Speaker 3: you played there in Boston, sometimes it was 50-50 in fans, right?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 3: You're going to have a ton of Yankees fans. There's
- 13:03Speaker 3: a lot of Yankees fans down there in Tampa.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And the Yankees went down early. They went down at
- 13:07Speaker 1: 2 o'clock today, went ahead and got down there early.
- 13:10Speaker 1: A lot of guys have houses and stuff down there.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So they're going to get, you know, they'll be nice
- 13:14Speaker 1: and rested and ready to go in a couple days.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Rossi staying with the American League. The Guardians won the
- 13:18Speaker 3: AL Central again with 85 wins, 77 losses. White Sox,
- 13:25Speaker 3: the third wild card spot. The White Sox led the
- 13:27Speaker 3: division most of the year, Rossi. And the Guardians do
- 13:30Speaker 3: what the Guardians do. In September, they come back. It
- 13:33Speaker 3: seems like they don't lose games in September. They win
- 13:36Speaker 3: the division. They've done it for a few years. They
- 13:38Speaker 3: chase down the Tigers multiple times. But the White Sox advancing,
- 13:44Speaker 3: their vibes are extremely high. It seems like they're just
- 13:48Speaker 3: playing like little kids with nothing to lose. And that's
- 13:51Speaker 3: my question to you, Rossi, is are the White Sox
- 13:55Speaker 3: playing with house money?
- 13:58Speaker 1: Man, the way they played against the Astros, I think
- 14:03Speaker 1: I didn't give them enough credit, if I'm being honest.
- 14:05Speaker 1: The at-bats, the stat I threw out last time, and
- 14:09Speaker 1: just them scoring early in games, putting the pressure on them,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and a lot of young guys stepping up, and you
- 14:15Speaker 1: know as well as I do, that young energy, that
- 14:20Speaker 1: fearlessness you have when you're a young player and you've
- 14:22Speaker 1: had success that they've had this year, getting into the postseason,
- 14:26Speaker 1: really dominating the Astros, who didn't look good. They looked
- 14:30Speaker 1: as bad as the White Sox, I mean, as the
- 14:32Speaker 1: Red Sox. And, you know, they've got, it's been a
- 14:35Speaker 1: close series all year. I know Cleveland edged them out seven,
- 14:39Speaker 1: seven games to six, but it's going to be tight.
- 14:41Speaker 1: They know each other really well. They've had some battles.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Will Venables pulled the triggers of these guys. You got,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, Hicks out of the bullpen, Grant Taylor, Sean
- 14:51Speaker 1: Newcomb has come found himself. You know, they've got some
- 14:54Speaker 1: good young starters and the lineup, man, they just, they
- 14:57Speaker 1: control the strike zone. I think it's going to be
- 14:59Speaker 1: a close series. I'm not going to pick the Guardians
- 15:05Speaker 1: because I just feel like they seem to overcome odds,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and I love their pitching staff as well and their
- 15:11Speaker 1: really good bullpen. Jose Ramirez is an absolute stud. They've
- 15:15Speaker 1: got the young guys that are just as good as
- 15:19Speaker 1: it comes. I love this series.
- 15:22Speaker 3: The best thing for the White Sox is And we
- 15:26Speaker 3: went through this in 2015 in Chicago. They're playing a
- 15:29Speaker 3: team that they're very familiar with, right? They know each other.
- 15:33Speaker 3: They played each other. They don't necessarily like each other.
- 15:36Speaker 3: You don't really like anyone in your division, right? And
- 15:41Speaker 3: the White Sox are flying high, riding in there. I mean,
- 15:43Speaker 3: the Guardians, though, they are the team to beat in
- 15:47Speaker 3: this series. They continue to show Stephen Vogt continues to
- 15:52Speaker 3: get the best out of these guys. Kate Smith at
- 15:54Speaker 3: the back end of that bullpen is locked down.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Nasty. Locked down. So, it's going to be … Parker
- 16:00Speaker 1: Messick may win rookie. I mean, he's one of the
- 16:02Speaker 1: best rookies, you know, totally. And we know with the
- 16:05Speaker 1: White Sox. But he may win rookie of the year.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I mean, he was an absolute … The second baseman
- 16:09Speaker 3: from Australia, Banzana, Travis? Pazana. Travis Pazana. Pazana, dude. Stud, right?
- 16:15Speaker 3: First overall pick. Was it your first overall pick a
- 16:18Speaker 3: couple years ago?
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 3: You were already in the big leagues.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yep. First Australian-born overall pick ever.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Stud.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Stephen Kwan, Jose Ramirez. So, I mean, Stephen Bowe.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Williams led the American League in strikeouts with 248. Like,
- 16:31Speaker 1: they've got real swing and miss in there. Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 3: And he's going game two. And the White Sox strike
- 16:37Speaker 3: out a lot. The White Sox do really well, though.
- 16:40Speaker 3: We saw this in Houston. They hit the long ball.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And that's what they're going to need to win this series.
- 16:45Speaker 3: And I do believe, just because they know each other
- 16:47Speaker 3: so much, if they steal game one, they're going to
- 16:50Speaker 3: go to.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Guaranteed-rate field, I believe, in Chicago. I saw they were
- 16:58Speaker 3: doing a blackout, and then I also saw fans calling
- 17:01Speaker 3: for a whiteout for the Pope in Chicago.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 17:05Speaker 3: So I can't wait to see that fan base going
- 17:09Speaker 3: crazy because the south side of Chicago, those fans are passionate,
- 17:13Speaker 3: just like all Chicago fans. So I think it's great
- 17:16Speaker 3: for the southsiders. I'm excited for them. Will Venable is.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I'm very close with him and his family. I'm not
- 17:24Speaker 3: counting them out. I'm going out of the way here
- 17:27Speaker 3: and saying I think the White Sox win in five
- 17:29Speaker 3: in this series. I think it's going to go to
- 17:31Speaker 3: the distance.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Well, let's go. We're going to Chicago. Well, hey, we
- 17:34Speaker 1: may be there. You're running the marathon and I'm planning
- 17:37Speaker 1: on coming to support.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Rossi, we cannot go to a White Sox game.
- 17:41Speaker 1: We can wear like a mask. We can wear like
- 17:44Speaker 1: Maybe wear a little Pope hat and get on board
- 17:45Speaker 1: with the White Sox.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I already got a couple of my friends saying, hey,
- 17:48Speaker 3: come to a game, come to a game. I'm like, ah,
- 17:50Speaker 3: maybe we'll go with Chelios, right? Chelios is a White
- 17:53Speaker 3: Sox fan. That's a good party. That would be good.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Hey, I think it's so evenly matched, and I'm going
- 18:00Speaker 1: to go with the experience again. I am terrible. I'm
- 18:03Speaker 1: learning in the first round at predictions. I think I
- 18:05Speaker 1: got one right. I had the Braves until the third game,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and then that didn't work out, but I got the Pods. Right.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I had the Astros stink. I had the Red Sox stink.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I stink at predictions. But I'm going with the Guardians.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I don't know if it carries a whole lot of
- 18:21Speaker 1: weight so far. I'm still learning all this prediction stuff. But,
- 18:24Speaker 1: you know, I hope some of these people that are
- 18:27Speaker 1: going to polymarket, maybe they go against what I did.
- 18:30Speaker 1: But it's an evenly matched series.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think with the layoff again, I think the five
- 18:35Speaker 3: days is real. And I think that the White Sox,
- 18:38Speaker 3: like Jon Lester used to always say, are too young
- 18:41Speaker 3: and dumb to realize how big these moments are, right?
- 18:44Speaker 3: Like they're still like just such a band of brothers that,
- 18:47Speaker 3: and I mean that in the best way possible, that
- 18:50Speaker 3: they're going to go in there and just play free baseball.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Like they're playing with house money, but they're not. This
- 18:55Speaker 3: team is very underrated, hasn't been given the proper respect
- 18:59Speaker 3: in my opinion, and I'm excited for this series. I'm
- 19:01Speaker 3: going to be watching this one.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Maybe from a bar in Chicago. Let's figure out where
- 19:06Speaker 1: like there's like maybe a, I'm.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Running a marathon. I can go to a bar.
- 19:12Speaker 1: You won't be drinking. You're locked in the marathon. I'll
- 19:15Speaker 1: have some for you.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I won't be drinking as many Coronas. I'll have a few.
- 19:23Speaker 3: We got our boy Kenny Chesney going on tour next summer, Rossi.

- 20:23Speaker 1: been to that one. Maybe we'll have to have a
- 20:26Speaker 1: meeting in Chicago, maybe a podcast from Chicago.
- 20:30Speaker 3: With Kenny on it?
- 20:31Speaker 1: 626. With Kenny on it? 626.

- 20:44Speaker 1: SeatGeek.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Let's go to the National League, Rossi. This is the gauntlet.
- 20:51Speaker 3: The gauntlet has continued in the National League. Every series,
- 20:55Speaker 3: I feel like each team could win the World Series
- 20:57Speaker 3: starting from the wild card. We're starting with the Atlanta
- 21:03Speaker 3: Braves traveling across country after the big game three win
- 21:06Speaker 3: to the two time defending world series champions, Los Angeles Dodgers, Rossi.
- 21:14Speaker 3: What do we got on this.
- 21:15Speaker 1: One, man? I think, you know, Braves Braves are glimping
- 21:20Speaker 1: into this thing. As far as the pitching staff goes, we,
- 21:22Speaker 1: you know, sale, we don't know how he's going to
- 21:25Speaker 1: feel after coming out of the bullpen on, you know,
- 21:29Speaker 1: a day's rest. Um, getting multiple outs, you know, Tyler
- 21:35Speaker 1: Malley pitched great, but he's not, I don't think he
- 21:37Speaker 1: would be ready till game three. They're going to have
- 21:40Speaker 1: to do some kind of opener type thing. Maybe a
- 21:43Speaker 1: Brent suitor to J.R. Ritchie. J.R. Ritchie is a starter
- 21:46Speaker 1: this year, has a 5'7. That's never good. But what
- 21:50Speaker 1: I will say is the Braves are 5-1, 5-1 versus
- 21:55Speaker 1: the Dodgers this year. Held these guys. Chris Thale had
- 21:59Speaker 1: a complete game shoddy. And had two starts and absolutely
- 22:03Speaker 1: dominated them. Otani with a 500 OPS. Otani, Freeman, Muncy,
- 22:09Speaker 1: and Tucker all against the Braves combined had a 524 OPS.
- 22:14Speaker 1: So they were not playing well the last time they
- 22:17Speaker 1: faced each other. It's going to be a different story.
- 22:19Speaker 1: It's going to be different pitchers. But the Braves got
- 22:22Speaker 1: their work cut out for them for sure. Because you've
- 22:25Speaker 1: got Yamamoto, Scooble, Snell. Glass now. We started listing off
- 22:33Speaker 1: some names.
- 22:33Speaker 3: But how healthy are they? You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Besides Yamamoto and Scooble, you have Snell. That's two pretty
- 22:40Speaker 3: good ones.
- 22:41Speaker 1: That's two pretty good ones.
- 22:42Speaker 3: That's two horses. Are you kidding me? Yamamoto is a gangster.
- 22:47Speaker 3: What he did last year in the World Series. Are
- 22:48Speaker 3: you kidding me? But with Snell and Glass now, you know,
- 22:54Speaker 3: it's like Snell came back, only had a couple starts.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I'm sure they're going to be dominant. These dudes are
- 23:00Speaker 3: the best pitchers in the world. I don't want to
- 23:01Speaker 3: face those guys at all. But those Braves hitters are
- 23:05Speaker 3: very experienced. It's not like it's a group of young
- 23:08Speaker 3: hitters that are going to be phased by who they're facing.
- 23:10Speaker 3: These guys have been in the league for a long time.
- 23:12Speaker 3: You have MVP in that lineup. Matt Olsen, the Ironman,
- 23:15Speaker 3: hitting 40-plus homers for the Braves. Albies getting going, right?
- 23:20Speaker 1: Michael Harris has been their MVP, I feel like, this year.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Michael Harris, their catcher. Coming off Rookie of the Year,
- 23:25Speaker 3: Drake Baldwin.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Baldwin, Drake Baldwin, no doubt.
- 23:27Speaker 3: It's an experienced Braves lineup going against this good pitching staff.
- 23:32Speaker 3: And then, for me, it's the position player group for
- 23:37Speaker 3: the Dodgers, right? They're coming off back-to-back World Series championships.
- 23:42Speaker 3: They were flat in August, in July and August, right?
- 23:46Speaker 3: They weren't that good. And I kept saying, it's the
- 23:49Speaker 3: dog days. They're coming off back-to-back championships. So, For them
- 23:53Speaker 3: to get going, the five days for them was everything, right?
- 23:57Speaker 3: They know how to handle this. They know how to
- 23:59Speaker 3: win in October. It's proven. So them being able to
- 24:02Speaker 3: get the five-day reset, I think, is so beneficial for
- 24:07Speaker 3: Dave Roberts and his team.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that layoff is a factor, whether it's good or bad, right?
- 24:12Speaker 1: Like it's always like your timing stuff. But, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: my boy Freddie Freeman, like you talked about, all that baseball.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Freddie?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're running him down. Freddie Freeman, like we'll
- 24:25Speaker 1: give some Braves fans some hope here. Freddie Freeman, worst
- 24:28Speaker 1: OPS in his career this year. Same with Mookie Betts.
- 24:32Speaker 1: You got to hope.
- 24:32Speaker 3: That doesn't matter, Rossi.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I know, bro. I'm just trying to give my Braves
- 24:36Speaker 1: fans some hope. I grew up a Braves fan. I'm
- 24:38Speaker 1: trying to give the Braves some love. You know, I
- 24:41Speaker 1: want them to have some hope. It's me against the world.
- 24:44Speaker 1: You saw Walt Weiss's post-game press conference. Nobody believes in us.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It's just about us. Well, I don't know if I
- 24:50Speaker 1: felt that the last series, but I definitely feel that
- 24:52Speaker 1: this series. The Dodgers are going to be a gauntlet
- 24:54Speaker 1: for them to overcome. But it is baseball, and if
- 24:57Speaker 1: they can sneak out, the Braves can sneak out a
- 24:59Speaker 1: game in L.A., I feel like they've got a little
- 25:02Speaker 1: bit of a shot for me. It's going to open
- 25:04Speaker 1: a window.
- 25:04Speaker 3: There's a window. There's a window. Maybe a Home Depot
- 25:08Speaker 3: or Lowe's. Not an ad, which it was.
- 25:10Speaker 1: In the weather.
- 25:11Speaker 3: In the weather. There's a window. Rossi, this is player,
- 25:17Speaker 3: former player, just thinking he can.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Manage, right?
- 25:20Speaker 3: Which I don't.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's what we do as players.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Here we go. Chris Sale is available out of the
- 25:26Speaker 3: bullpen in game one and two. If you have a lead,
- 25:29Speaker 3: you fire him. And then you have Malley game four
- 25:36Speaker 3: on regular rest. Game three.
- 25:38Speaker 1: He would be game three.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I'm sorry, game three. You can go Sale game four.
- 25:42Speaker 3: But if you can have Sale come in at some
- 25:45Speaker 3: point in game one or two, and give you two innings.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I mean, he went up today. He said it after
- 25:50Speaker 3: the game. He's like, I can pitch tomorrow if I
- 25:51Speaker 3: need to, right? That's the type of dog Chris Sale is. Yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 3: for sure. Just something to look for where he's going
- 26:00Speaker 3: to have to throw a bullpen here if he's getting
- 26:02Speaker 3: ready to pitch game three or four. That bullpen could
- 26:05Speaker 3: be in the game. If they have an opportunity to
- 26:06Speaker 3: win game one and you bring him in, what a
- 26:09Speaker 3: boost to bridge that gap to the bullpen. You know
- 26:11Speaker 3: what I mean? You could bring him in in the
- 26:12Speaker 3: fourth to get him to their bullpen that will be fresh.
- 26:17Speaker 1: This reminds me of you saying the Cubs need to
- 26:21Speaker 1: go on the road and be road dogs. I feel
- 26:24Speaker 1: like this is that chaotic where you're at. You're like,
- 26:28Speaker 1: we're going to pitch steal every game. His arm's going
- 26:30Speaker 1: to fall off, but it's.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Fine because he's our best pitcher. No, it's just game
- 26:35Speaker 3: one and two. Have him available where if you can
- 26:38Speaker 3: steal one of those games because it's going to be
- 26:41Speaker 3: pitching chaos for the Braves. They don't know. They're going
- 26:43Speaker 3: to figure it out. Walt Rice said it.
- 26:45Speaker 1: True.
- 26:45Speaker 3: If you can... Fire him. He's going to be on
- 26:48Speaker 3: short rest regardless unless you wait until game three to
- 26:50Speaker 3: throw him. Well, you'll have Mally game three, who's really good.
- 26:55Speaker 3: He's had it under a two ERA. He was good
- 26:57Speaker 3: in game two for game three. And then if you
- 27:00Speaker 3: don't use him or if you do use him game
- 27:02Speaker 3: one or two, you have him pretty much full go
- 27:05Speaker 3: for game four.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I don't know. Hey, you've got to pull a rabbit
- 27:12Speaker 1: out of the hat.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I love the Braves.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And I would love my rabbit to be Chris Sale.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I definitely am on the board with you on that.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yeah. For me, Rossi, it's so hard to go against
- 27:25Speaker 3: the defending champions, but I do think a lot of
- 27:29Speaker 3: weight is removed from the Braves after beating the Phillies.
- 27:33Speaker 3: The Phillies eliminated them the last two times they were
- 27:36Speaker 3: in the playoffs in the first round. So they beat them.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Now they're going on to LA with momentum. It's going
- 27:41Speaker 3: to be pitching chaos. It doesn't make sense for them
- 27:44Speaker 3: to win one of these next two games because of
- 27:47Speaker 3: their pitching status. But I believe in this player, the
- 27:50Speaker 3: position player group and the Braves. And I do think
- 27:53Speaker 3: that the mental fortitude is going to take the Dodgers
- 27:56Speaker 3: to go in three-peat. I hope they do it, but
- 28:01Speaker 3: I'm picking the Braves. I picked them earlier to go
- 28:04Speaker 3: represent the National League in the World Series, so I'm
- 28:06Speaker 3: sticking with them.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I like that you're sticking to your guns. I feel
- 28:10Speaker 1: like you're trying to talk yourself into sticking to your
- 28:13Speaker 1: guns because I've got a runaway series for the Dodgers,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and I think they're going to hit. They're going to
- 28:20Speaker 1: feel so good not facing aces first game. They're going
- 28:23Speaker 1: to get their timing down. They're going to have the
- 28:24Speaker 1: quality of bats. Then the hitters are going to feel sexy,
- 28:27Speaker 1: and it's off and running because that pitching staff for
- 28:29Speaker 1: the Dodgers is elite. That's cool. I love that we
- 28:33Speaker 1: disagree a lot.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I like that.
- 28:35Speaker 1: You won the first round. I would definitely say that.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You've kicked my butt in the first round of predictions.
- 28:41Speaker 3: You say that, though, as a hitter, Rossi, the Dodgers,
- 28:45Speaker 3: those hitters are going to be facing a new pitcher
- 28:47Speaker 3: pretty much every at-bat for the first four games. Which
- 28:50Speaker 3: is hard. It's going to be hard to settle in, right? But, again,
- 28:53Speaker 3: it's superstar after superstar. And they have proven it, so
- 28:57Speaker 3: it's going to be great. I mean, look, all of these,
- 28:59Speaker 3: as you can tell, I am fired up for every
- 29:01Speaker 3: one of these series.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I was just about to say, like, I'm fired up
- 29:05Speaker 1: for all the series, but my favorite series we're about
- 29:09Speaker 1: to talk about that I can't wait for, the best
- 29:12Speaker 1: team in baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers versus the hottest team
- 29:16Speaker 1: in baseball, the San Diego Padres. Family rate field or
- 29:20Speaker 1: whatever it's called in Milwaukee. Wrigley North, as we like
- 29:23Speaker 1: to call it. That place is going to be rocking.
- 29:26Speaker 3: That place is going to be absolutely rocking.
- 29:29Speaker 1: And we saw how electric San Diego is. I'm so
- 29:33Speaker 1: pumped to watch that. That's my favorite one that I'm
- 29:36Speaker 1: looking forward to. Yeah, I mean, the Padres are riding high, right?
- 29:38Speaker 3: Vibes are high. Going across country. Padres, I'm going to
- 29:43Speaker 3: hop on this stat. I'm going to stay on it.
- 29:45Speaker 3: 19-3 since Manny dyed his hair blonde, right? Their stars
- 29:50Speaker 3: are starring. Their mojo seems to be fully back. Tatis' mojo,
- 29:56Speaker 3: you see him celebrating afterwards. The Brewers... though, as ho-hung
- 30:02Speaker 3: as you can be and as positive as you can be,
- 30:05Speaker 3: you got a guy by the name of Jacob Mizorowski
- 30:07Speaker 3: that is waiting for you with his 105, Rossi. Not 101,
- 30:12Speaker 3: 105 is waiting for you.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It might be 107 in game one, and there's no telling.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Right. So, come Saturday, like you said, it's a clean slate,
- 30:24Speaker 3: but what a series that's going to be, man. They
- 30:27Speaker 3: have two great pitching The Padres have the best bullpen
- 30:34Speaker 3: with Mason Miller locking it down there in the ninth.
- 30:37Speaker 3: The Brewers have a really good back end of their bullpen, too.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Great starters.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Trevor McGill. They've got some dudes. Man, listen to this lineup.
- 30:48Speaker 1: We're talking about things that we both love. You're probably
- 30:52Speaker 1: a little more Homer-centric than I am, but the way
- 30:54Speaker 1: the Milwaukee Brewers handled the at-bat, control the strikes on,
- 30:58Speaker 1: can beat you in multiple ways, base running, pitching. They've
- 31:02Speaker 1: got power, but they've got Garrett Mitchell, Jackson Turial, Bryce Tourain,
- 31:07Speaker 1: who is one of my favorite players. This guy's an
- 31:09Speaker 1: absolute stud. William Contreras, Jake Bowers, who had a great year,
- 31:13Speaker 1: finally bouncing back, playing first for them, and really solidified
- 31:17Speaker 1: himself and one of their MVPs. Yellies hitting, Kristen Yellich
- 31:22Speaker 1: way down the list. Joey Ortiz, Sal Freilich, little gamer player.
- 31:26Speaker 1: And then you've got the young guy, Cooper Pratt, down
- 31:28Speaker 1: in the 9-hole. Like, this has been the best team
- 31:30Speaker 1: in baseball for a little while now. And I know
- 31:34Speaker 1: the Padres are hot, and I know the Padres have stars. And,
- 31:36Speaker 1: you know, it's going to be a great matchup. I love–
- 31:40Speaker 1: we've got the Miz. We've got Kyle Harrison, Robert Gasser. Like,
- 31:46Speaker 1: they've got really real dudes. They may not be the
- 31:48Speaker 1: biggest names because they're in Milwaukee, but they've got real dudes.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And so I think another evenly matched-up teams with stars–
- 31:56Speaker 1: with stuff, young stars, guys have been around. Like it is,
- 32:00Speaker 1: it's going to be electric and I can't wait to
- 32:02Speaker 1: watch how loud it is.
- 32:03Speaker 3: It'd be interesting to see who the Padres go with
- 32:05Speaker 3: their game one. Do they go with Robbie Ray or
- 32:07Speaker 3: Walker Bueller? Bueller faced him earlier this year, six innings,
- 32:11Speaker 3: gave up one run. But then when that flips, you
- 32:14Speaker 3: have Michael King, who's a stud. You have Nick Pavetta,
- 32:17Speaker 3: who looked dominant. You have the story with Joe Musgrove.
- 32:21Speaker 3: We'll see how they use him and their bullpen. You
- 32:23Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 32:23Speaker 1: So, I miss Logan Henderson. He's going game two for them.
- 32:29Speaker 1: He's throwing the ball really well.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Rossi, I think that the Milwaukee Brewers, who Pat Murphy
- 32:38Speaker 3: I love. I've always loved interacting with him. Upmost respect
- 32:42Speaker 3: for him. What he gets out of his players is everything, right?
- 32:48Speaker 3: But this team played their baseball all year long. kind
- 32:53Speaker 3: of under the radar, right? The only time their radar
- 32:56Speaker 3: was going off was when Mizorowski was pitching, and then
- 32:59Speaker 3: the rest, four days later, it was kind of like
- 33:01Speaker 3: they're not talked about a lot. So, like the Rays,
- 33:05Speaker 3: they're five days off. They have to have a big
- 33:09Speaker 3: moment early for that entire team to exhale and be like,
- 33:12Speaker 3: alright boys, look, get that belief again that we're the
- 33:16Speaker 3: best team in baseball, not the false belief, right? There's
- 33:20Speaker 3: real belief and false belief.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And For me, they've got to get over the hump.
- 33:23Speaker 1: You know, they knew the Cubs well, but they haven't
- 33:26Speaker 1: been able to get to that championship series as often
- 33:29Speaker 1: as I think– And win it. And win it and
- 33:31Speaker 1: think as often as they'd like, right? So they've got
- 33:33Speaker 1: to get that kind of monkey off their back, so
- 33:36Speaker 1: to speak, and, you know, play well and get into, like, real–
- 33:40Speaker 1: to be the best team in baseball, their expectations is
- 33:42Speaker 1: World Series or bust. They got swept in the NLCS
- 33:45Speaker 1: last year by the Cubs. Really not a good showing
- 33:47Speaker 1: two years ago.
- 33:48Speaker 3: By the Dodgers. By the Dodgers.
- 33:50Speaker 1: By the Dodgers. Sorry. And then– they got that big
- 33:54Speaker 1: walk-off two years ago from Pete Alonso and the Mets,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and they thought they had it. Like, this is a
- 33:58Speaker 1: good team that's been knocking on the door at the
- 34:00Speaker 1: World Series and having the expectations. And this year, best
- 34:03Speaker 1: team in baseball. They've got to get over that hump.
- 34:06Speaker 3: The one thing I do really like about the Brewers
- 34:09Speaker 3: is they clinched the division two weeks to go within
- 34:13Speaker 3: the season, and they just kept their foot on the pedal, man.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Right?
- 34:17Speaker 3: They just kept hitting. They kept producing. They kept getting
- 34:19Speaker 3: the big hits. They kept playing at a high intensity.
- 34:22Speaker 3: which I love to see there out of them, and
- 34:25Speaker 3: they're going to be ready to play. It's a really
- 34:27Speaker 3: good team. It's playoff baseball, right? If the best team
- 34:31Speaker 3: won every time, then you and I wouldn't have this
- 34:35Speaker 3: thing we call a show, I guess.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Exactly. Something to talk about. That's right.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Rossi, I'm going to stay with you. Look, I thought
- 34:43Speaker 3: the Cubs were going to beat the the Padres, but
- 34:45Speaker 3: I'm going to stay with my teams, right? I was
- 34:48Speaker 3: a San Diego Padre. I was a rookie there. I
- 34:50Speaker 3: have all of one home run as a San Diego Padre.
- 34:53Speaker 3: The first one, most memorable, as you know, Rossi, yours
- 34:55Speaker 3: is off Mark Grace. Uh, with the Dodgers, with the Dodgers.
- 34:59Speaker 1: That's right.
- 35:00Speaker 3: That's right. So, but I, I think that the San
- 35:03Speaker 3: Diego Padres are going to find a way to win
- 35:05Speaker 3: this series. It's going to be Padres Braves National League
- 35:09Speaker 3: Championship Series.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I don't hate that pick at all, but, um, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 1: I went early on with the Milwaukee Brewers. I just,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I believe in Pat Murphy and that group. I think
- 35:19Speaker 1: they've got an edge and I think they've got something
- 35:21Speaker 1: to prove. And I think Pat Murphy believes that. And
- 35:24Speaker 1: I feel like these guys are, are just got that
- 35:27Speaker 1: same personality of like, we've got something to prove. So
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm going with the Milwaukee Brewers to play the Los
- 35:34Speaker 1: Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.
- 35:38Speaker 3: I'm going to be a good one up there. Milwaukee,
- 35:40Speaker 3: maybe shit, mate, Rossi, maybe we, I'd pop up to
- 35:43Speaker 3: Milwaukee for a game. Road trip? I'd rather go to Milwaukee, yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Stop at the Brat Stop on the way. That big
- 35:50Speaker 3: cheese store? Yeah, a brat and a Bloody Mary. Are
- 35:54Speaker 3: you kidding me? I'm in.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Just roll up to a tailgate.
- 35:58Speaker 3: That would be electric.
- 35:59Speaker 1: That would be sick.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Right? How would they do it? Would we be greeted
- 36:07Speaker 3: with open arms in Milwaukee or the south side of Chicago?
- 36:13Speaker 1: That feels like a Tim Busk ball bag question that
- 36:17Speaker 1: we need from our viewers. Let us know who would
- 36:20Speaker 1: give us the most love, if any. Could we join
- 36:23Speaker 1: your tailgate at the Southside or up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin?
- 36:28Speaker 1: Who's feeding us? Who's having a beer with us?
- 36:31Speaker 3: Listen, we see it and we appreciate it. We've been
- 36:35Speaker 3: getting some love from the Southside for talking about the
- 36:38Speaker 3: White Sox and how exciting of a team they are.
- 36:40Speaker 3: The Brewers, look, I love Pat Murphy. I love this
- 36:43Speaker 3: Brewers team. They're really good. They are the gold standard
- 36:47Speaker 3: in the NL Central. Shit in the National League the
- 36:50Speaker 3: last few years, right? If it wasn't for the Dodgers, like,
- 36:53Speaker 3: it's Dodgers Brewers. So, yeah, that'd be a good one.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Maybe we'll pull that on our social media.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Road trip. We need a Ross and Rizzo unfiltered bus,
- 37:04Speaker 1: like game day. We'll just go game to game. It'd
- 37:07Speaker 1: be sick.
- 37:08Speaker 3: RV it, baby.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 3: So, our brackets, Rossi. So, You have the Guardians. Is
- 37:14Speaker 3: that right?
- 37:14Speaker 1: I have the Guardians playing the Rays. The Rays going
- 37:17Speaker 1: to the World Series. And I have the Dodgers playing
- 37:21Speaker 1: the Brewers. And the Brewers going to the World Series.
- 37:26Speaker 1: So I've got Brewers-Rays.
- 37:29Speaker 3: You're saving baseball.
- 37:31Speaker 1: I am.
- 37:31Speaker 3: You want the small market to save baseball. David Ross,
- 37:34Speaker 3: national hero.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Rob Manfred hates me right now.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I'm taking the White Sox. I'm taking the Southsiders. I'm
- 37:43Speaker 3: taking the Yankees. Then I'm going Braves, Padres, and then
- 37:50Speaker 3: Braves beat the Padres to go to the World Series.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Yankees beat the White Sox. We have a classic Yankees-Braves
- 37:57Speaker 3: World Series. All right. We'll see. I like it.
- 38:01Speaker 1: We will see. I think part of me in Tampa,
- 38:04Speaker 1: because I'm going to be at the World Series, it
- 38:05Speaker 1: would be nice just to drive home from Tallahassee. It
- 38:07Speaker 1: would be just nice to drive down.
- 38:09Speaker 3: To do that, right? I hear you. Selfishly, I wanted
- 38:13Speaker 3: the Yankees-Red Sox to go three games so I could
- 38:17Speaker 3: just be on the call for a third game and
- 38:19Speaker 3: the Yankees winning three, right? Because I had them winning. But,
- 38:22Speaker 3: you know, we've got to be selfish. We've got to
- 38:24Speaker 3: be selfish. Yeah, let's get to our Tim Buss-Ballback questions
- 38:28Speaker 3: of the episode now of the day. Where we answer
- 38:32Speaker 3: your questions, all of our fans' questions. You can leave
- 38:34Speaker 3: them on YouTube, our socials, or email us at rossandrizzo
- 38:37Speaker 3: at gmail.com. We love taking these questions. This first one's
- 38:41Speaker 3: an email from Farhan. I'm from the UK. All right.
- 38:46Speaker 1: All right. Let's go. Worldwide.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Prestige worldwide. Worldwide. Worldwide. Worldwide.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Farhan, are you an investor or not? I love this.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Massive fan of the Chicago Cubs and you guys. I
- 38:59Speaker 3: started watching the season, Riz. I started watching the season
- 39:04Speaker 3: that me, Riz, had not traded when you traded me, Rossi.
- 39:09Speaker 3: I've been watching the Loveable Reunion podcast since it started
- 39:11Speaker 3: and really enjoyed listening to the insights behind the 2016 team.
- 39:15Speaker 3: My question is, who would you consider to have had
- 39:18Speaker 3: the worst wildcard experience between the Chicago Cubs and Boston
- 39:22Speaker 3: Red Sox, factoring the decisions to pull Gray for the
- 39:26Speaker 3: Red Sox and no home starting for the Cubs. Great question.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Far on from the UK. Let's go.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Shout out to baseball. Yeah, that was a good baseball question.
- 39:36Speaker 1: And we just talked about, we had today on air,
- 39:37Speaker 1: we had to pick our worst performances and best performances
- 39:41Speaker 1: that we liked from the wild card. And I went
- 39:44Speaker 1: with the Cubs just because I followed them so hard.
- 39:46Speaker 1: And You know, the offense that I, you know, I
- 39:50Speaker 1: love those guys. They got such a great position player
- 39:52Speaker 1: group that it just didn't show up. And I think
- 39:55Speaker 1: a lot of that just a credit. You got to
- 39:57Speaker 1: credit the Padres pitching. But the Red Sox is all
- 40:01Speaker 1: borderline embarrassing, you know, with how it ended, how good
- 40:05Speaker 1: the Yankees were and made the they didn't play clean baseball.
- 40:09Speaker 1: There's a lot of like just miscues. And then there's
- 40:12Speaker 1: the little bit of drama afterwards just left a bad
- 40:15Speaker 1: taste in my mouth, you know. pulling Sonny Gray, all
- 40:18Speaker 1: the decisions are what they are, you know, but there
- 40:20Speaker 1: was just, it wasn't clean baseball. You know, some, some,
- 40:23Speaker 1: some things that I just feel like in the playoff
- 40:26Speaker 1: and championship caliber baseball should be just didn't show up
- 40:30Speaker 1: with Boston. And then you had a little bit of this,
- 40:31Speaker 1: just bad taste in your mouth with all that drama
- 40:34Speaker 1: at the end of the season. So for me, Farhan,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I'm going with the Red Sox.
- 40:40Speaker 3: This is why, this is why you and I are
- 40:42Speaker 3: called the ham and egg Rossi.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I'm going with the Cubs. Look, the Red Sox had
- 40:48Speaker 3: a great season, but everything they dealt with, Chad Tracy
- 40:53Speaker 3: figuring out a way to get six new coaches from
- 40:55Speaker 3: their minor league system, turning that season around, they ran
- 40:58Speaker 3: into Cam Schlittler and Max Fried, two of the best
- 41:02Speaker 3: pitchers in the American League. You know what I mean? So,
- 41:05Speaker 3: a team that overachieved big time, that believed in themselves,
- 41:09Speaker 3: like credit to the Red Sox, they believed in themselves.
- 41:11Speaker 3: They never gave up on themselves, right? And it is
- 41:14Speaker 3: disappointing they lost, but The Cubs going into San Diego,
- 41:17Speaker 3: the Cubs controlled their own destiny at the end of
- 41:19Speaker 3: the season. They didn't clinch that home field advantage, which
- 41:24Speaker 3: ended up paying dividends. I was wrong on that, thinking
- 41:27Speaker 3: they should be road dogs. And they go in there
- 41:31Speaker 3: and just, they just never were able to get it going.
- 41:34Speaker 3: And I understand the bad taste left in your mouth
- 41:37Speaker 3: with the way it ends up with the Red Sox, Rossi,
- 41:40Speaker 3: but On the Cubs side, you have Alex Bregman standing
- 41:43Speaker 3: up saying, look, this is a failure. We need to
- 41:45Speaker 3: be better. We need to win. And those guys are
- 41:47Speaker 3: pissed off in there. They expect to win. Like you said,
- 41:50Speaker 3: that position player, it's the best offense in baseball all year.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Best defense in baseball. They knew that their pitching was
- 41:57Speaker 3: banged up. Not throwing Clay Holmes. You've got to score runs.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I don't think it matters.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't score one run and expect to win.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Maybe you go... and this is easy for me to say,
- 42:12Speaker 3: maybe you go Clay game two and Gaussman game three
- 42:15Speaker 3: just to give Gaussman an extra day because he's dealing
- 42:17Speaker 3: with the shoulder. But if you go Gaussman, you pull
- 42:21Speaker 3: him in, what, the second, third inning? It's like, I
- 42:25Speaker 3: guess you have to, and it's a elimination game.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Well, Clay Holmes has the experience out of the bullpen,
- 42:32Speaker 1: to your point. He's pitched in big games out of
- 42:36Speaker 1: the bullpen. Pretty regularly, so I'm with you on that.
- 42:40Speaker 1: The one thing I say back about the red sides
- 42:41Speaker 1: is I don't like the finger pointing when you were
- 42:44Speaker 1: outscored 18-2. Don't start pointing fingers. It's emotions that came.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Out of the media. That's just bad. On the inside there,
- 42:51Speaker 3: that's bad.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Going to the offseason with some positivity that, hey,
- 42:56Speaker 1: we followed our way back and there's a lot of
- 42:57Speaker 1: resiliency and we're going to be good next year. We
- 43:00Speaker 1: didn't get it done. The Yankees were better than us
- 43:02Speaker 1: and move on. Give a little bit of credit to
- 43:04Speaker 1: the other side. Yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 3: We've got great questions.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Next ball bag question is from Sarah Welsh. First, I
- 43:12Speaker 1: just want to say that I got to meet both
- 43:14Speaker 1: of you at Lester's charity event and it was amazing.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I had the chance to actually talk with Ross and Rizzo.
- 43:20Speaker 1: You were behind the bar serving people. The question is this.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I have been a Cubs fan for 45 years. I
- 43:26Speaker 1: remember a lot of players and a lot of seasons
- 43:29Speaker 1: and all of that time, the bullpen has been a
- 43:31Speaker 1: major issue, not just in the playoffs, but through the
- 43:34Speaker 1: season in general. What do you Cubs need to do
- 43:37Speaker 1: to start addressing this problem that happens over and over again?
- 43:40Speaker 1: You both have said multiple times that we probably don't
- 43:44Speaker 1: win the world series without Chapman. So I'd like to
- 43:46Speaker 1: hear thoughts from both of you.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Oh, that's a great question, Sarah. It's seems to be
- 43:51Speaker 3: the theme in a lot of these teams, not really
- 43:54Speaker 3: going out and spending big dollars on bullpen.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Phillies. I mean, the Phillies can say the same thing. Yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Uh, Look, I think after 2017, we never addressed our bullpen, right?
- 44:08Speaker 3: We went for it again in 2017. We got Wade
- 44:10Speaker 3: Davis as our closer, and we went all in again.
- 44:14Speaker 3: But after that, I felt like they just relied on
- 44:16Speaker 3: the position player corp way too much. And it was
- 44:20Speaker 3: evident this year they relied on the position players to
- 44:25Speaker 3: carry them. And what carries you is the bullpen, right?
- 44:29Speaker 3: The best bullpens, if you look at all these bullpens
- 44:31Speaker 3: that are still left in it, Yankees, Brewers, Padres, Braves, Guardians, Dodgers,
- 44:35Speaker 3: White Sox, they're all on the top of the league.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Dominic.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Top of the league throughout the regular season. So it's
- 44:42Speaker 3: the biggest thing. And I mean, I don't know if
- 44:46Speaker 3: that's the priority in Chicago is to go get the
- 44:50Speaker 3: back end of the bullpen, but it's almost reverse engineering
- 44:53Speaker 3: in my opinion. I've never managed. I just look at baseball.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Reverse engineer a roster is, If you have the back
- 45:00Speaker 3: end locked in, if you have Mason Miller, which it's
- 45:03Speaker 3: a dime a dozen, you have Mason Miller, but all
- 45:05Speaker 3: these closers, you have that, you just go off of that.
- 45:09Speaker 3: And then you pair that with good starting and then
- 45:11Speaker 3: you just figure out ways to bridge the gap. So, yeah. Yeah.
- 45:14Speaker 1: You definitely, the one thing I've always leaned on and
- 45:17Speaker 1: leaned into, like, even if you have a bad team,
- 45:20Speaker 1: if you have a good bullpen, you're going to lock
- 45:22Speaker 1: down wins, right? The worst way to win is for
- 45:25Speaker 1: a team to come back on you in the 7th, 8th,
- 45:27Speaker 1: and 9th as a player, especially during the regular season.
- 45:30Speaker 1: So to get guys to fight when you have the
- 45:33Speaker 1: lead in the 5th or the 6th and you lock
- 45:35Speaker 1: it down, that creates a winning culture. And some of these,
- 45:38Speaker 1: I think, front offices don't really believe as much in
- 45:41Speaker 1: investing in the bullpen because it is so kind of
- 45:45Speaker 1: a crapshoot if some guys are going to have good
- 45:47Speaker 1: years or bounce back. Look at Palencia's year. He started
- 45:49Speaker 1: off good. got injured, never kind of bounced back and
- 45:53Speaker 1: was the version of himself. But there is a sense
- 45:57Speaker 1: of building something special in the bullpen for long-term success.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I feel like if you can invest the right dollars
- 46:05Speaker 1: in there or even developing players and having them move
- 46:08Speaker 1: into the bullpen, drafting guys and developing them and maybe
- 46:11Speaker 1: they don't work out as starters and you move them
- 46:13Speaker 1: to the bullpen, they could definitely help.
- 46:16Speaker 3: It's like an old line, bro. You've got the best
- 46:19Speaker 3: quarterback in the world if you can't protect them Patrick
- 46:21Speaker 3: Mahomes last year, they couldn't protect him.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Great point.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Blows out his knee, right?
- 46:25Speaker 1: Love that analogy.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Yes. I mean, it's pitching wins defense. Or, I'm sorry,
- 46:30Speaker 3: pitching wins championships. I don't care how you want to
- 46:34Speaker 3: dice it, it's going to get you there and it's
- 46:36Speaker 3: going to win with some timely hitting.
- 46:38Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Great question, Sarah. This email, last email is from Jonathan.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Coach Ross. I love the coach. Just a fun fact,
- 46:48Speaker 3: when you get to the big leagues and in professional baseball,
- 46:51Speaker 3: you don't call the manager, a coach. They hate that.
- 46:55Speaker 3: You don't call the umpires blue. They hate that. And
- 46:58Speaker 3: you know, I always called my coaches coach. I called
- 47:03Speaker 3: Joe Maddon coach all the time. I still do to
- 47:05Speaker 3: this day. Brandon Hyde. I call him coach. I just
- 47:08Speaker 3: saw him recently. Booney coach. What's up, coach?
- 47:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I just ran into Andy Green, the manager of
- 47:16Speaker 1: the Mets, and he called me Skip. He's like, what's up, Skip?
- 47:19Speaker 1: I'm like, you're the Skipper now, bro, not me.
- 47:21Speaker 3: What's up, coach?
- 47:23Speaker 1: What's up, coach?
- 47:24Speaker 3: Read the question.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Read the question.
- 47:26Speaker 3: From Jonathan. Coach Ross, I was watching the Cubs desperate
- 47:29Speaker 3: in all capitals. Okay, tell us how you feel, Jonathan.
- 47:32Speaker 3: For a running game, too. Shaw walks. Kelly hits a
- 47:35Speaker 3: rope into left. Dansby in the nine hole comes up.
- 47:38Speaker 3: First and second. My question is, why in the world
- 47:41Speaker 3: do the Cubs not bunt there? Do analytics really go
- 47:44Speaker 3: against that? Cubs successfully bunt there. They get second and
- 47:48Speaker 3: third with the MVP coming up with a chance to
- 47:50Speaker 3: get a base hit to tie the game. They decided
- 47:53Speaker 3: to intentionally walk PCA. Then you have Bregman coming up,
- 47:56Speaker 3: best hitter in the second half. The situation, Rossi, was
- 47:59Speaker 3: it was the top of the third. Cubs were down two.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Nobody out. Yeah.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I don't, I, you know, I think everybody's different about them.
- 48:07Speaker 1: I look at the rays, like they bought more than
- 48:09Speaker 1: any team in baseball. And I think it's how your,
- 48:11Speaker 1: how your team is developed. And I don't disagree with you, Jonathan.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I think like bunting is part of our game. Um,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I liked the bond. If you have certain guys in
- 48:21Speaker 1: the lineup that can handle the bat, you do that.
- 48:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Um, you know, I wish I was
- 48:27Speaker 1: in Craig council's brain and knew what he was thinking, but, um, Yeah,
- 48:34Speaker 1: I don't know how to explain that. I don't disagree
- 48:36Speaker 1: with your point. Some people believe in that. Some managers don't.
- 48:40Speaker 1: They didn't bunt a whole lot this year, and you
- 48:43Speaker 1: got two of the best hitters in the game, two
- 48:44Speaker 1: of the best hitters. You got the MVP and one
- 48:47Speaker 1: of the best hitters in the second half coming up.
- 48:49Speaker 1: They didn't do much in that postseason run, but I
- 48:53Speaker 1: don't hate your thought there.
- 48:54Speaker 3: Yeah, in 2016, we were game four of the Los
- 48:59Speaker 3: Angeles Dodgers. Our offense is pretty flat. We're down 2-1
- 49:02Speaker 3: in the series. World Series MVP later that year, Ben
- 49:06Speaker 3: Zobris drops a bunt down.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:09Speaker 3: And ignites our offense. It was just a bunt for
- 49:11Speaker 3: a hit. To where, with the Cubs, they got blanked
- 49:16Speaker 3: in Game one. They're grinding here in game two. They're
- 49:19Speaker 3: already down two to nothing. Gainesby gets them over. If PCA,
- 49:25Speaker 3: I don't think they would intentionally walk PCA. They'd be
- 49:27Speaker 3: very careful, I'm sure, how to pitch them to set
- 49:28Speaker 3: up a double play for Bregman. But if one of
- 49:32Speaker 3: those guys just drive in, ah, run. Ah, run, right.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Ah, one.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Uno.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 49:37Speaker 3: It's two to one. it's two to one sack fly
- 49:40Speaker 3: ground ball. They'll be playing. They'll be playing the infield
- 49:44Speaker 3: back in that situation. Cause it's early in the game
- 49:46Speaker 3: that if they play them in ball gets through, it's
- 49:48Speaker 3: a tie game. So if they just put the ball
- 49:50Speaker 3: in play, PCA puts the ball in play there. It's
- 49:53Speaker 3: a two and PCA can bond too.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:55Speaker 3: He can. If he wanted to.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Part of that, if PCA gets on or a ball
- 49:59Speaker 1: does get through, he can steal set.
- 50:01Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 50:01Speaker 1: Like now he can, he can run if you know,
- 50:04Speaker 1: the bottom of the order moves over and then you
- 50:06Speaker 1: get a run in.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I don't hate the thought here from Jonathan. Like, you know,
- 50:11Speaker 1: it only comes up. We talk a lot about outcome bias,
- 50:13Speaker 1: and we always question things when it doesn't work out.
- 50:16Speaker 1: This is, you know, if Dansby throws a ball in
- 50:18Speaker 1: the gap, we don't even think about it. Exactly. I
- 50:23Speaker 1: think the bottom reorder should always handle the bat, especially
- 50:26Speaker 1: in certain situations. And I think the postseason, the bunt
- 50:28Speaker 1: always comes out a little bit more because guys are
- 50:31Speaker 1: just trying to tack on, just move runners over, just, again,
- 50:35Speaker 1: break that seal, get us on the board. And let
- 50:37Speaker 1: us get a little bit of momentum.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Bro, Michael Harris. Michael Harris in the Braves' first game
- 50:42Speaker 3: of the wild card dropped a bunt down with a
- 50:45Speaker 3: guy on second, no outs, in like the second inning
- 50:49Speaker 3: to get the run back, just to tie the game up.
- 50:53Speaker 3: And you tie the game up early, it gives you
- 50:55Speaker 3: an exhale. You score early. The whole team kind of just,
- 50:58Speaker 3: in the playoffs, it's so tense, right? Any little thing
- 51:01Speaker 3: to help the team kind of, release that anxiety that
- 51:05Speaker 3: everyone carries with them in the postseason helps. So that's
- 51:09Speaker 3: a great question, Jonathan. This is why I love doing
- 51:13Speaker 3: this show. We could talk about all of these moments.
- 51:17Speaker 3: We both played. Rossi, you've managed, but we both won
- 51:19Speaker 3: World Series. We both played deep into October. So I
- 51:22Speaker 3: love this stuff. Thank you, everyone, for watching the Division Series.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Major League Division Series is going to be electric. I
