- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am

- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way, everybody.
- 0:27Good morning from the Chicken Coop.
- 0:30So here's an interesting thought for you.
- 0:32Things aren't always what they seem to be, and it's important
- 0:36to be curious and ask questions. Now you've heard me say a
- 0:39million times the curiosity is a superpower, but I think we
- 0:42forget that it's a superpower and we don't get curious about
- 0:47things. At least we don't get curious
- 0:49enough about things and then we don't keep exploring.
- 0:52What else could something be? What else could be happening?
- 0:55So we have a wire fence around our garden and it's solar
- 1:02powered and it's, you know, one of those ones that will give you
- 1:05a light ZAP if you touch it. And it's meant to keep the deer
- 1:09out and it goes up very high or any other varmints that want to
- 1:12go in there. And then there's a lower section
- 1:15that keeps the chickens out, but they don't even go near it
- 1:18because they won't even attempt to to get zapped by the wires.
- 1:24But in any event, I'm thinking, OK, there has to be something
- 1:28that's going on because I'm planting things in the garden
- 1:32and they're getting dug up at night.
- 1:33So what is happening? What is the thing that's going
- 1:36in there and doing it? Going in there and doing it.
- 1:39And I'm like, there's got to be something because it, I see that
- 1:43there's like these little marks that are happening overnight.
- 1:46Like I walk the garden and I see them and I'm like, I wonder what
- 1:50this is. So I'm assuming that we've got
- 1:53one of the voles that's getting in through the fence and that
- 1:57that makes sense. So I'm connecting dots because,
- 2:00you know, that's how our brain works.
- 2:01It wants to connect dots quickly and it wants to make our lives
- 2:05easier, burn fewer calories and just cut down on the exhaustion
- 2:09of thinking about things, which is all great and fine.
- 2:12However, I'm like, something came in and ate every single,
- 2:16like when I tell you it ate every single, it ate every
- 2:19single bean that I had planted, every single bean seed.
- 2:23And then it, it ate all of the peanuts that I planted.
- 2:27And I'm like, and I know they're eating because I can see that
- 2:30they're all dug up because I keep the garden extremely neat.
- 2:33So of course, so that I can see exactly what's going on.
- 2:37Because I have a core resonating belief that if you don't touch
- 2:41and see something that you're working on all the time, you
- 2:44can't, you can't actually do a, an outstanding job with it.
- 2:48You actually have to see it and touch it.
- 2:51So I'm always in there. Like yesterday for instance, I
- 2:54found a bunch of stink bugs that had moved into the squash and
- 2:57though they are not good for squash.
- 2:59So if I hadn't been in there and investigating the squash when I
- 3:02water it, I would have never seen them.
- 3:04If I just turned on the sprinkler system, I would never
- 3:08have noticed it. I would not have seen what was
- 3:11actually going on. Couldn't have pulled them off.
- 3:14But anyway, back to this. So I made the assumption and
- 3:17then I was like, OK, I really have to watch this.
- 3:20I really have to see. And then lo and behold, I see
- 3:24that it's a bird going in there. It's a bird who's going in and
- 3:28digging through the dirt. And I'm like, how the hell do
- 3:32they know? But they did.
- 3:33And somehow, whether they're watching me, like now, I feel
- 3:36like someone's watching me or what not.
- 3:40Could it be that the voles are still getting in there?
- 3:43Yes. Are there signs that maybe the
- 3:46voles are coming out at night? Yes.
- 3:48And at the same time, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt,
- 3:53I saw a bird digging things up. So I'm curious now I'm like, OK,
- 3:58do birds actually like go in gardens?
- 4:00And I start researching like, do they will they actually go into
- 4:04a space that's just dirt and dig?
- 4:06Certain types of birds will do this.
- 4:08Now, you know, I have my affinity for birds, so I'm
- 4:11certainly not upset that they're doing it.
- 4:12And I'll just start the plants inside.
- 4:14So I've got beans soaking overnight and I'll start them
- 4:16inside. They don't usually transplant
- 4:19well, but I'll have a conversation with them ahead of
- 4:21time and hopefully they will be willing to, you know, transplant
- 4:27well because I'm going to manifest that.
- 4:29But it's amazing to me how quickly you can assume something
- 4:33and it may not actually be accurate.
- 4:35So this is a lesson today in saying stay curious.
- 4:39Even when you have an assumption, stay curious.
- 4:41Even when you think you know, stay curious.
- 4:43Even when you think when you think you have it right, stay
- 4:47curious because that's going to help you make sure that you have
- 4:51the right situation nailed down and not making things up.
- 4:55So I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you
- 4:59all tomorrow. Bye.
