- 0:59Speaker 3: The world's of vigeonal podcast Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I wanted Mike be able to be the successor of
- 1:11Speaker 4: Bill Belichick for a while now, so fan you're plan.
- 1:15Speaker 4: I was gonna introduce him to me once, but he
- 1:16Speaker 4: didn't make it happen. I was pretty upset about it.
- 1:18Speaker 4: There's also just something appealing about let's get a fresh
- 1:20Speaker 4: of breath hair, you know, a.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Fresh a breath of bresh of fresh air. I don't
- 1:27Speaker 3: want that. It hits I don't want that. That's to me,
- 1:29Speaker 3: that's not working.
- 1:31Speaker 4: But they went to the playoffs.
- 1:32Speaker 3: If that's if that's working, well, then I'm not but
- 1:35Speaker 3: don't care.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Well even eight games the last two years.
- 1:38Speaker 3: If but he's going to point to that style, is
- 1:40Speaker 3: it worked pretty well, then I'm not on board.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I'm not on board.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Where friends, first argument it.
- 1:47Speaker 6: Was and it was beautiful.
- 1:48Speaker 3: You can have those arguments and then move on.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's like Lincoln's cabinet, you know, team of arrivals. He
- 1:52Speaker 4: has a lot of people that went ran against him,
- 1:54Speaker 4: one of people with opposing viewpoints. Sorry, I'm reading a
- 1:56Speaker 4: Civil War book.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Rat holy are ridiculous, especially when they're on a bed.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You make the bed, you're gonna put the pillows, get
- 2:04Speaker 3: in the bed.
- 2:04Speaker 7: Show.
- 2:06Speaker 3: It's like, are we doing tours of the house, Like,
- 2:08Speaker 3: why is this important? Does she get cold?
- 2:11Speaker 6: Yeah, she's walking around with a plugging all the time,
- 2:14Speaker 6: all the time.
- 2:15Speaker 3: You don't let her put the heat up.
- 2:17Speaker 5: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 2:22Speaker 1: dot Com.
- 2:25Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 2:29Speaker 3: at Jillette Stadium and the head coaching watch continues for
- 2:33Speaker 3: the New England Patriots. A lot of news out there,
- 2:37Speaker 3: Mike Rabel. It seems to be the consensus front runner
- 2:41Speaker 3: for the new England Patriots. However, they do have a
- 2:45Speaker 3: scheduled call supposedly tomorrow with Ben Johnson Aaron Glenn. I
- 2:51Speaker 3: don't know if there's others besides those two, but we
- 2:55Speaker 3: shall see what happens. But just everybody in the know,
- 2:59Speaker 3: and I'm not talking about the local people of the
- 3:01Speaker 3: national people all seem to think that it's you know,
- 3:04Speaker 3: Vrabel or bust for the team.
- 3:06Speaker 5: It kind of sounds that way.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, So that's where we are. That's where we are,
- 3:12Speaker 3: and as far as the rest of the staff, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 3: it's just wait and see. I guess in terms of
- 3:18Speaker 3: whoever comes in what they're gonna want.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Yeah, feel for those guys right now. Kind of in limbo.
- 3:25Speaker 5: So there was a ESPN dot com. I think Dan
- 3:28Speaker 5: Graziano and Jeremy Fowler today sort of tag team effort
- 3:33Speaker 5: on all the teams with coaching vacancies, and you know, Fowler,
- 3:38Speaker 5: like a lot of other people, has added Josh McDaniels
- 3:41Speaker 5: to the Rabel ticket. Yeah, you know, Rabel McDaniels as
- 3:46Speaker 5: a package deal.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how I feel about that. I'm you know,
- 3:51Speaker 3: everything is about Drake May and his style of play
- 3:55Speaker 3: and his ceiling and the closest I've seen Josh McDaniels
- 4:00Speaker 3: try to do something like that is maybe when he
- 4:02Speaker 3: drafted Tim Tebow, because I assumed the plan there and
- 4:05Speaker 3: Denver was to use him, you know, to use his
- 4:07Speaker 3: legs as well. But he's he's not as mobile as
- 4:11Speaker 3: a Drake May And I don't think I don't know.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Cam Newton in twenty twenty. I mean, you know, I
- 4:15Speaker 4: remember that Miami game where they busted out somewhere.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But that was the ghost of Cam Newton.
- 4:19Speaker 6: But Cam Newton is the best comp in terms of
- 4:22Speaker 6: proof of concept that McDaniels could run an off with
- 4:25Speaker 6: a dual threat quarterback. There was a lot of really
- 4:27Speaker 6: good run design elements in that offense in twenty twenty.
- 4:31Speaker 6: They were top ten rushing offense, even with their struggles
- 4:34Speaker 6: in the passing game in twenty twenty. So he's always
- 4:37Speaker 6: had a good run game, Josh. You know, he's always
- 4:39Speaker 6: been able to scheme it up in the run game.
- 4:41Speaker 6: And if you want to sell yourself on it is
- 4:44Speaker 6: like a combination of the Cam Newton twenty twenty year
- 4:47Speaker 6: with what he's done historically with Brady and Mac Jones.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I think that a couple thoughts like I like the
- 4:52Speaker 4: fact that maybe they get back to more power running,
- 4:55Speaker 4: and you know, maybe his scheme fits the personnel that
- 4:57Speaker 4: they still have here. But also I just wonder about,
- 5:00Speaker 4: like we talked about with Drake and working with him,
- 5:02Speaker 4: and you know, putting a lot more on Drake, how
- 5:04Speaker 4: does that look. Maybe it'll be great for him, you know,
- 5:06Speaker 4: maybe it'll be challenging. I don't know, but it would
- 5:08Speaker 4: definitely be different to me.
- 5:09Speaker 3: The problem with the whole power running is you're either
- 5:12Speaker 3: all in or you're not. You know, you have to
- 5:15Speaker 3: constantly keep hitting them and wear them down. Today's NFL
- 5:19Speaker 3: it's more subtlety, it's more keeping defenses on their heels,
- 5:24Speaker 3: you know, So I could see both sides. Yeah, I
- 5:27Speaker 3: mean I could listen. I don't I don't profess to
- 5:31Speaker 3: be and I or any offensive and nor do I.
- 5:35Speaker 3: But I'm working out what's working today.
- 5:37Speaker 5: And I would just look, you know that the Cam
- 5:38Speaker 5: Newton thing, Like Cam Newton was sort of a different
- 5:43Speaker 5: kind of a runner as a quarterback. He was like
- 5:45Speaker 5: a power runner.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Were like Josh Allen a little bit right.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Yeah, and even more so than him. I I don't
- 5:52Speaker 5: think that they're going to ask Drake May to run
- 5:54Speaker 5: the ball like that on a on a regular basis,
- 5:58Speaker 5: you know where you know, we're gonna just it's third
- 6:01Speaker 5: and three. We're gonna make sure we're not going to
- 6:03Speaker 5: try to trick anybody and get the edge on his
- 6:06Speaker 5: own read or something like that. We're just going to
- 6:08Speaker 5: ask him to line up in the shotgun and take
- 6:10Speaker 5: the snap and go forward, you know in power football,
- 6:13Speaker 5: that's what they did with Cam Newton.
- 6:15Speaker 4: But there was also like an element in that in
- 6:16Speaker 4: that Miami game, the first one where it was the
- 6:18Speaker 4: same thing, like right read option on the goal line,
- 6:20Speaker 4: like that's the stuff, and then we never saw it.
- 6:23Speaker 5: But I think they can do that with a question.
- 6:26Speaker 5: We saw it in the summer. We saw a little bit,
- 6:29Speaker 5: you know, in bits and pieces. I think that will
- 6:31Speaker 5: be a bigger part of the offense moving forward with
- 6:33Speaker 5: him with his legs. Absolutely, it has to be.
- 6:36Speaker 6: It has to be, because that's how you leverage his
- 6:39Speaker 6: talent against the defense to create issues on the defensive
- 6:43Speaker 6: side of the ball is when he is a constant
- 6:45Speaker 6: threat to run right constant and that's what Josh Allen
- 6:49Speaker 6: is in Buffalo and Joe Brady is that at any
- 6:51Speaker 6: given time, they could call a play and Josh Allen
- 6:54Speaker 6: could get out on the perimeter and throw. He can run,
- 6:57Speaker 6: he can do all these different types of things. I'm
- 6:59Speaker 6: with you. I don't want him to run like Cam
- 7:01Speaker 6: Newton was running and run ten to fifteen times a game.
- 7:04Speaker 6: But it has to be in the back of the
- 7:05Speaker 6: defense's mind every single.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Threat to keep them on their heels. You can't be
- 7:10Speaker 3: easy to defend.
- 7:11Speaker 5: But even if it's a smaller number than Cam Newton,
- 7:14Speaker 5: the style. Do you remember how many times third and
- 7:16Speaker 5: fourth and one it was just shotgun, you know, just
- 7:19Speaker 5: snap the ball to Cam and he's gonna look for
- 7:21Speaker 5: a second, that little jump step, and then he's just
- 7:24Speaker 5: gonna plow it head. You know what. The one time
- 7:27Speaker 5: that really stood out that they failed doing that was
- 7:29Speaker 5: at the goal line against Seattle early in the season
- 7:32Speaker 5: when they had a chance to steal that game. I
- 7:35Speaker 5: don't like the idea of I mean, I know they
- 7:38Speaker 5: won't do it, you know, like Drake may the most right,
- 7:42Speaker 5: you don't need a You're just going to pick your
- 7:44Speaker 5: hole and plow through a defensive tackle.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Now I love that idea.
- 7:47Speaker 5: I don't like that.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Well, so if Josh comes do we bring back the fullback.
- 7:52Speaker 5: That's what Evan said that.
- 7:53Speaker 6: I mean, he's always had one, so I would imagine
- 7:55Speaker 6: that you would, but I don't know. I mean, I'm
- 7:58Speaker 6: not saying that you have to do that with Drake
- 7:59Speaker 6: all the time. But if you're getting where you hope
- 8:02Speaker 6: you're getting, which is to playoff games and meaningful late
- 8:05Speaker 6: season games and things like that, if your best chance
- 8:08Speaker 6: of picking up a yard on third or fourth and
- 8:11Speaker 6: one is a quarterback draw with Drake, may I'm quarterback
- 8:14Speaker 6: drawing now.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I'm thinking of it plays that are
- 8:18Speaker 5: different than quarterback draws. Quarterback draw you're hoping to fool
- 8:22Speaker 5: people and part the season go through big holes. Cam
- 8:25Speaker 5: Newton wasn't trying to fool anybody, was trying to knock
- 8:28Speaker 5: people over.
- 8:28Speaker 6: They they would run a lot of like you know,
- 8:31Speaker 6: QB power and things like that with Cam where they
- 8:34Speaker 6: would motion the back out of the backfield to lighten
- 8:36Speaker 6: the box and they get a five man box against
- 8:39Speaker 6: five blockers, and then he's the sixth guy, so he
- 8:41Speaker 6: would just pick a spot into number.
- 8:45Speaker 4: But I like what I've been saying though, I think
- 8:46Speaker 4: it's it's about just putting the fear of that into
- 8:49Speaker 4: defenses and not having to make it an engine of
- 8:51Speaker 4: the offense, but having it as part of the bag
- 8:53Speaker 4: and just letting, like you said, defenses, No, at any
- 8:56Speaker 4: moment you might take it.
- 8:57Speaker 5: And I know it was, you know, kind of a
- 9:00Speaker 5: you know, a meaningless situation. But the end of the
- 9:02Speaker 5: Buffalo game, the first Buffalo game in Buffalo, they're down
- 9:05Speaker 5: twenty four to fourteen. I think it was like a
- 9:07Speaker 5: fourth and four or something like that.
- 9:09Speaker 3: When it was about five miles to the east.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Don't do that. It's on tool.
- 9:15Speaker 3: No, I'm just promoting your trying to your recall.
- 9:18Speaker 5: You're already trying to make me go back on my resolution. Anyway,
- 9:21Speaker 5: they give the little you know, the fake handoff zone read.
- 9:25Speaker 5: It catches everybody. Drake May gets an easy first down
- 9:28Speaker 5: around the end, he scoots out of bounds like I
- 9:32Speaker 5: want to use his legs. It's a weapon. He's a
- 9:34Speaker 5: great runner, he's a great athlete. I don't necessarily want
- 9:38Speaker 5: him doing what Josh Allen does and you know, jumping
- 9:43Speaker 5: over and you know, and it's clear that he's not
- 9:45Speaker 5: gonna slide. I know he's going to invite contact. I
- 9:49Speaker 5: don't want that all the time because I don't think
- 9:52Speaker 5: he's going to be as durable doing it. We've seen
- 9:54Speaker 5: it already. Yeah, played twelve games, he got knocked out
- 9:57Speaker 5: of a couple of them.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Going back to McDaniel's an argument on the plus
- 10:01Speaker 3: side for him is from what I hear, he has
- 10:04Speaker 3: no designs to be a head coach, so so he'll
- 10:09Speaker 3: be here for a while anyway. So you know, that's
- 10:12Speaker 3: the fear you have when you do bring in, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 3: the next hot coordinator, that guy becomes the next hot
- 10:18Speaker 3: head coach candidate.
- 10:19Speaker 4: I mean, what an opportunity for Josh Mathennials though, I
- 10:21Speaker 4: mean just from his solely his perspective, to be able
- 10:24Speaker 4: to come back here where he's you know, it's living already,
- 10:26Speaker 4: so he's already, you know, and to and just to
- 10:28Speaker 4: settle in and get back into the NFL, and to
- 10:31Speaker 4: have a young piece of clay to work with that
- 10:33Speaker 4: can do it all, and to really you know, like
- 10:35Speaker 4: I think Josh mc dames would really cement his place
- 10:37Speaker 4: here in Patriots history if he can come back and
- 10:41Speaker 4: do what we all want him to do. Get you know,
- 10:42Speaker 4: Drake made to that next level too, you know, and
- 10:44Speaker 4: it Chowse that he had a part, like we talked
- 10:47Speaker 4: about him and having a part in Brady's development and
- 10:49Speaker 4: seven and all that stuff, like you know, have a
- 10:50Speaker 4: hand in this again. And you know, maybe you're not
- 10:52Speaker 4: like one eye looking at other opportunities, but you can
- 10:55Speaker 4: just focus on this Drake may make him the man
- 10:58Speaker 4: really install a new system. What have you learned over
- 11:00Speaker 4: the last couple of years, What new steps can you
- 11:01Speaker 4: take forward? I mean, I think it would be really.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Exciting for no one would deny then what he's one
- 11:06Speaker 3: of the best OC's.
- 11:08Speaker 4: You know this well, it could be like the Steve
- 11:10Speaker 4: Spagnolo of the offensive side of the YAH, Like you know,
- 11:12Speaker 4: I look it then when I got as a head coach.
- 11:14Speaker 6: But you know, yeah, he's able to put it on
- 11:16Speaker 6: the other side. You know, Tommy Reese is the name
- 11:18Speaker 6: that we should all know on the young hot offensive
- 11:22Speaker 6: coordinator side of things. He's thirty two years all. If
- 11:25Speaker 6: he comes here and it works in two years, he's
- 11:29Speaker 6: going to be a head coach exactly right. You know,
- 11:31Speaker 6: he's going to be the next Ben Johnson.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So in that case, you know, just what we talked
- 11:36Speaker 3: about on Tuesday, you've got to make sure that you're
- 11:39Speaker 3: creating that internal pipeline that someone is learning while he's
- 11:44Speaker 3: the coach. So if he does move on, you can
- 11:47Speaker 3: easily fill that that slot. But that's easier said than done.
- 11:51Speaker 5: You know, it's a good, good way of looking at it.
- 11:54Speaker 5: There's two different ways. I mean, you have the stability.
- 11:58Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know. I'd like to just have
- 12:02Speaker 5: the guy who I think is the best. Ye, I
- 12:04Speaker 5: don't know the answer to that. I leave that to
- 12:06Speaker 5: you experts.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Well, it's just hard because it's, yeah, you know Ben
- 12:09Speaker 4: Johnson on one hand, you think like you have continuity
- 12:11Speaker 4: in the offensive side of the ball. But where this
- 12:14Speaker 4: Patriots organization is right now is are they ready to
- 12:17Speaker 4: Is this the right time to try to take that swing?
- 12:19Speaker 4: And I know he's different than Mayo, but this organization
- 12:22Speaker 4: and you know, we can talk about the Callaghan Harold piece,
- 12:25Speaker 4: Doug Kaide, like, I mean, it's all over the place
- 12:27Speaker 4: right now. I mean there's just no structure at all
- 12:30Speaker 4: in any avenue of the football operation here right now.
- 12:33Speaker 4: And you know, like, look, I'd be excited about Ben
- 12:35Speaker 4: Johnson somebody knew and what he would bring to the offense,
- 12:38Speaker 4: But at the same time, I really think, like you know,
- 12:40Speaker 4: throwing out my Mike Vrabel fandom, that if you need
- 12:43Speaker 4: to get this house back in order, Mike Rabel seems
- 12:46Speaker 4: like a pretty good choice to be able to do that,
- 12:48Speaker 4: and maybe maybe he will tap out. I know, you
- 12:50Speaker 4: guys have somebody land the plane right and get and
- 12:53Speaker 4: restructure things and bring you know, and not have the
- 12:56Speaker 4: shadow of Bill Belichick hanging over them, or you know,
- 12:59Speaker 4: still having staff members who might still have some loyalties
- 13:01Speaker 4: to Bill or might you know, be their son. You know,
- 13:04Speaker 4: it's it's a it's a fresh break, and it's a
- 13:06Speaker 4: it's a new start.
- 13:08Speaker 6: It's a good point. And I think if you do
- 13:09Speaker 6: hire somebody like Ben Johnson, then a really powerful executive
- 13:14Speaker 6: is even more important. You know, somebody that can come
- 13:18Speaker 6: in here and be John Lynch or come in here
- 13:20Speaker 6: and be a football czar, because you want to let
- 13:24Speaker 6: Ben Johnson cook, Like you want to put him in
- 13:26Speaker 6: the lab and let him worry about game plans and
- 13:29Speaker 6: play design and all that kind of stuff. You don't
- 13:31Speaker 6: want him having to worry about, like you know, I
- 13:35Speaker 6: don't know, building out the practice facility in the parking lot,
- 13:38Speaker 6: like that's not not not why you're hiring him, Whereas
- 13:42Speaker 6: I think if you hire a guy like Mike Rabel,
- 13:44Speaker 6: he can be all encompassing and be that CEO and
- 13:48Speaker 6: help you get the football program side of it pointed
- 13:51Speaker 6: in the right direction.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Well, because he's going to hire hopefully strong coordinators.
- 13:55Speaker 6: Right, So if you're if you're hiring Ben Johnson, and
- 13:58Speaker 6: I would be pretty upset if it didn't come with
- 14:01Speaker 6: a really powerful front office executive that's experienced and has
- 14:05Speaker 6: been around the block doing that story.
- 14:07Speaker 3: We know of any like Ben Johnson has the you know,
- 14:11Speaker 3: people he works with in Detroit, but does what does
- 14:13Speaker 3: his network do beyond that? Like would he have a
- 14:16Speaker 3: GM that he'd want to bring in or you.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Know, I mean Ray Agnew is the name that gets
- 14:22Speaker 6: thrown out a lot as in terms of the personnel
- 14:25Speaker 6: guy that he wants to work with. But I wouldn't
- 14:27Speaker 6: call him a John Lynch type, right, Like he's more
- 14:30Speaker 6: of like the front office scout. You know, he's gonna
- 14:35Speaker 6: scout personnel and things like that. So I don't know
- 14:38Speaker 6: who the czar would be that you know they could
- 14:40Speaker 6: come up with.
- 14:41Speaker 5: See the assistant in Detroit now.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, And so you know he's more in in
- 14:46Speaker 6: the in the mold of like a true scout, not
- 14:50Speaker 6: somebody that had played or had all this experience in
- 14:53Speaker 6: the NFL before this.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Yeah, such a cool name.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Czar.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Would you like to be the czar or something and
- 14:59Speaker 4: just prez ar or s a r Which which one
- 15:02Speaker 4: would you like? The Russian history there czz cz czar
- 15:08Speaker 4: of content.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Yeah, But I like Mike's point because I do think
- 15:13Speaker 5: getting the ship back in order is important, and I'm
- 15:16Speaker 5: pretty sure that Vrabel can do that, whereas I don't mean,
- 15:19Speaker 5: I'm not telling you that Ben Johnson can't, but this
- 15:21Speaker 5: that's less of a certainty. I mean, that wouldn't be
- 15:24Speaker 5: the reason that I didn't do it, but I'd have
- 15:27Speaker 5: to have some confidence that Ben Johnson can can have
- 15:31Speaker 5: that kind of a whole, the whole offensive coordinator thing.
- 15:36Speaker 5: That's That's a tough one to me because I think
- 15:39Speaker 5: the argument that if you could have a great offensive
- 15:42Speaker 5: coordinator but not be guaranteed that he's going to be
- 15:44Speaker 5: here beyond say, two years, or have a good offensive
- 15:47Speaker 5: coordinator that you have pretty confident he'll be here for
- 15:50Speaker 5: at least five which one would you take?
- 15:52Speaker 3: I think the great Yeah, just to get may on
- 15:55Speaker 3: the right track.
- 15:57Speaker 4: The two you mean the two years?
- 15:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Like if I could have Ben Johnson, Like
- 16:01Speaker 5: I could have Ben Johnson right now. Let's just say
- 16:04Speaker 5: for arguments sake, he's had it with Detroit, but no
- 16:06Speaker 5: one wants him to be the head coach. So a
- 16:09Speaker 5: fantasy hypothetical, you know, something Fred would be So Ben
- 16:14Speaker 5: Johnson or Josh McDaniels, Ben Johnson who you know, I
- 16:18Speaker 5: arguably the best offensive coordinator in football right now for
- 16:21Speaker 5: two years? Max, probably only one or Josh McDaniel tell
- 16:25Speaker 5: me only one, I might think, but I'll take the better.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Even the one. No, I need him for at least
- 16:30Speaker 3: two years.
- 16:30Speaker 4: So two years I mean think, I mean, I guess
- 16:33Speaker 4: it's right. It's a bad example for one because it's
- 16:36Speaker 4: just he's got he's already left over once to go.
- 16:38Speaker 4: But you know, if it was just random Joe Schmoe
- 16:41Speaker 4: the offensive coordinator that you hire and he has a
- 16:43Speaker 4: great two years, man, what do those two years look
- 16:44Speaker 4: like that he's getting head coach opportunities after two years?
- 16:47Speaker 4: I mean, Drake may is a top five quarterback. This
- 16:49Speaker 4: offense is in the top five of the league, like
- 16:51Speaker 4: you know, and and then and then you'll figure it
- 16:53Speaker 4: out at that.
- 16:53Speaker 5: But I want to make sure it's fair because I
- 16:55Speaker 5: don't want to have like, well, Josh McCann's is just
- 16:57Speaker 5: there and he's terrible. No, he's good, he's just not great.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Well, that'd be the hope. I mean, I I don't
- 17:02Speaker 4: know if I would, you know, pound the table for
- 17:04Speaker 4: Josh McDaniels to be the guy, but I would just
- 17:06Speaker 4: hope that it's gonna be for us. But we had
- 17:11Speaker 4: a little talk talk, some small talk with when we
- 17:13Speaker 4: shot our thing, and you know, it's it's clear he
- 17:14Speaker 4: still has the itch.
- 17:15Speaker 3: But think about, like, forget about the fans. We will
- 17:19Speaker 3: be pissed off if Drake May isn't given the right
- 17:24Speaker 3: support it to become Oh yeah, as good as he
- 17:26Speaker 3: can coach.
- 17:27Speaker 5: So what's going to be the determinant of that that
- 17:30Speaker 5: he's good? It's not fair? I know, you know what
- 17:34Speaker 5: I mean?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Is it him?
- 17:35Speaker 5: There's still a pretty good separation, But we don't think
- 17:39Speaker 5: there's a pretty good separation of opinion with regard to
- 17:42Speaker 5: where it all went wrong with mac Jones. I think
- 17:45Speaker 5: there's a lot of people that think, you know, you
- 17:47Speaker 5: did them wrong. The lack of structure around him the
- 17:50Speaker 5: Matt Patricia Joe Judge derailed his promising career, and a
- 17:53Speaker 5: lot of other people on my side say no, he
- 17:57Speaker 5: never really had all that much talent to begin with.
- 17:59Speaker 5: From what I doesn't mean I'm right, doesn't mean they're right.
- 18:02Speaker 5: There's the difference of opinion.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I kind of agree with both. I think that he
- 18:05Speaker 3: was done wrong, but I don't think he was ever
- 18:07Speaker 3: going to be that good anyway.
- 18:09Speaker 5: I kind of agree with you, Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 4: I just would have. I mean, I just the thing
- 18:11Speaker 4: we can't know is what would it have looked like
- 18:13Speaker 4: in year two with Josh and Mackett.
- 18:15Speaker 5: But I'm just saying, like, regardless of who the offensive
- 18:17Speaker 5: coordinator comes in, if Drake May doesn't work out, are
- 18:19Speaker 5: we gonna blame that on the offensive coordinator? That's kind
- 18:21Speaker 5: of what it sounds like. Yeah, you know, and I'd
- 18:25Speaker 5: like to see him play and see, Yeah, know who's
- 18:29Speaker 5: whose fault it is?
- 18:31Speaker 3: Well, I mean, we saw what he did under a
- 18:35Speaker 3: v P and we liked it, so it has to
- 18:38Speaker 3: look better than that, right, And you know, we have
- 18:41Speaker 3: to see we we have a baseline here of hey,
- 18:44Speaker 3: he showed us some stuff in year one that we
- 18:47Speaker 3: have hope so.
- 18:48Speaker 5: We're kind of getting that. Yeah, no, with with with
- 18:51Speaker 5: Drake may like so.
- 18:52Speaker 3: So year two, what with you? Your two has to
- 18:56Speaker 3: look better than.
- 18:58Speaker 5: But I think it's it's in the eye of the beholder.
- 19:01Speaker 5: And I don't think this is like a black and white.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I'm the beholder. I am the beholder.
- 19:09Speaker 5: I totally agree with you. But like he could play
- 19:13Speaker 5: like I think right now, you look at the same
- 19:16Speaker 5: exact game and you look and say, wow, it's pretty good.
- 19:20Speaker 5: He's got some roerability. Right, Let's take those two picks
- 19:24Speaker 5: that he threw. Let's put those side rookie ten eleven,
- 19:29Speaker 5: twelve games. He can play the same and you might
- 19:33Speaker 5: not look at it the same. That's why I say
- 19:34Speaker 5: it's in the eye of the beholder.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Well, if he has the picks next year, then I'm
- 19:38Speaker 3: not happy with it.
- 19:39Speaker 5: But you're probably gonna blame it on the offensive coordinate. No,
- 19:43Speaker 5: I don't mean you individually. I mean a lot of people.
- 19:45Speaker 6: But it does people like it does depend on what's
- 19:48Speaker 6: around him. Like this year, he's got the worst offensive
- 19:51Speaker 6: line in football. I think you can make an argument
- 19:52Speaker 6: that he had the worst weapons in football on top
- 19:55Speaker 6: of that, And so could you make the case that
- 19:57Speaker 6: a lot of his turnovers were from him pressing to
- 20:00Speaker 6: try to make plays that the guys on the other
- 20:03Speaker 6: end couldn't make.
- 20:04Speaker 5: I would say the Miami game would be a really
- 20:05Speaker 5: good example of what you're talking about.
- 20:07Speaker 6: The game at Miami, Yeah, I mean, or even the
- 20:10Speaker 6: pick against the one in the red zone. I think
- 20:12Speaker 6: it was against the Chargers right where you know, he
- 20:14Speaker 6: tried to throw the corner route and the two receivers
- 20:17Speaker 6: collided and then and there was nobody that ended up there.
- 20:20Speaker 3: But let's let's let's play the game. Let's say year two,
- 20:25Speaker 3: everything's the same. Mayo is still the head coach, a
- 20:28Speaker 3: VP is still the you know, coordinator, and the talent
- 20:32Speaker 3: around him, including the offensive line, is similar to what
- 20:35Speaker 3: ye're one was. I would still expect Drake may to
- 20:39Speaker 3: look better. I would too, Yeah, And if he doesn't, then.
- 20:43Speaker 6: I no, No, I think it's hard, because I think
- 20:45Speaker 6: a lot of hard. A lot of these, you know
- 20:47Speaker 6: a lot of guys in the similar mold have have
- 20:50Speaker 6: had similar ups and downs or peaks and valleys, like
- 20:54Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence. Like Trevor Lawrence has got a lot of
- 20:56Speaker 6: raw talent. You can clearly see that Trevor Lawrence is
- 21:00Speaker 6: a talented, capable, you know, franchise quarterback, but the Jaguars
- 21:04Speaker 6: are a dumpster fire and have been his entire career.
- 21:06Speaker 6: So like, is it Trevor Lawrence is the problem? Or
- 21:08Speaker 6: is the Jaguars the problem?
- 21:10Speaker 5: And it's hard to imagine guys that have none of
- 21:13Speaker 5: the elements like so you say, like Joe Burrow, he
- 21:17Speaker 5: he was able to show you right away that he
- 21:19Speaker 5: was good with not a tremendous amount around him. But
- 21:22Speaker 5: then you know, okay, so you didn't have a lot
- 21:23Speaker 5: of pass protection, but he had T. Higgins. And then
- 21:27Speaker 5: year two we gets Jamar Chase and T. Higgins, so
- 21:30Speaker 5: at least he has elite weapons now, and you can
- 21:32Speaker 5: start to see how good it can be. To Evan's point,
- 21:35Speaker 5: Drake really has nothing.
- 21:37Speaker 6: No, he's got nothing, nothing like if he If they
- 21:40Speaker 6: go into year two and they have you know, Cam
- 21:43Speaker 6: Robbinson or Kelvin Banks playing left tackle and T. Higgins
- 21:46Speaker 6: is on the outside and he's still throwing picks and
- 21:48Speaker 6: he's still having these ups and downs, then we start
- 21:51Speaker 6: to be concerned about Drake.
- 21:53Speaker 5: I think it's right now.
- 21:55Speaker 6: I think it's there's one person that pointed at it,
- 21:58Speaker 6: and it's it's at Elliot Wolf or whoever's in charge
- 22:00Speaker 6: in that seat to pick the personnel. You know, they
- 22:03Speaker 6: have to make it easier on the quarterback. It's there's
- 22:05Speaker 6: too much on him right now.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. Deuis you mentioned in passing the article
- 22:12Speaker 3: in the Herald today about the dysfunction in the organization
- 22:17Speaker 3: from the top down, you know would seem uh and
- 22:20Speaker 3: you know a lot of it was stuff that went
- 22:22Speaker 3: on this season with Gerrod Mayo. What was the thing
- 22:26Speaker 3: that you most took out of that article? I know
- 22:30Speaker 3: I have mind.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I say my overall thought which I
- 22:32Speaker 4: served with the guys was just like I felt like
- 22:34Speaker 4: a like a shooting circle, Like everyone's shooting at each
- 22:36Speaker 4: other in a circle and like you know, blaming and
- 22:38Speaker 4: pointing fingers it at everyone else. But I mean, I
- 22:41Speaker 4: let Paul talk about the one part that stood out
- 22:43Speaker 4: the most to me because I thought, immybe Paul was
- 22:46Speaker 4: just that you know that they said Joe was very,
- 22:48Speaker 4: very very excited about that win in Cincinnati, and I think,
- 22:51Speaker 4: you know, Paul led the way. But we all had
- 22:53Speaker 4: that conversation after that win and like, man, I mean
- 22:55Speaker 4: Ramandre was breaking tackles in the backfield. I mean, they're
- 22:58Speaker 4: getting the brakes, they're getting random you know, interceptions or whatever,
- 23:01Speaker 4: fumbles in their red zone. You know. I mean, there
- 23:03Speaker 4: was a lot of stuff went their way, and I
- 23:06Speaker 4: think we were all clear that this is not sustainable
- 23:08Speaker 4: how they're going to win it. So, you know, otherwise,
- 23:10Speaker 4: just a lot of you know, pointing to Girod's inexperience,
- 23:13Speaker 4: not a clear vision, but also plenty of pointing at
- 23:16Speaker 4: the players and the lack of development, the lack of talent.
- 23:19Speaker 4: I mean, everything we talked about, it's just you know,
- 23:21Speaker 4: it's everybody shooting at everybody else. It's that's why I
- 23:23Speaker 4: like when I said the thing about Rabel, like you
- 23:25Speaker 4: need someone to come in and clear the slate and
- 23:27Speaker 4: clear the deck. And I don't know if that means
- 23:29Speaker 4: all the personnel, and I know some people here would
- 23:32Speaker 4: say yes, but they got they got to get a
- 23:34Speaker 4: whole new program in place here. That's my main takeaway.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah, that takeaway the reaction after the Cincinnati game where
- 23:41Speaker 3: whoever the player was that you know, he's bouncing off
- 23:45Speaker 3: walls after win, and it's like someone shot his dog
- 23:47Speaker 3: after a loss and that they're not even sure that
- 23:51Speaker 3: he watched the tape from that game, you know, because
- 23:54Speaker 3: the other coaches are watching the tape. It's like, oh boy,
- 23:56Speaker 3: we got lucky, you know, and here's why. And they're
- 24:00Speaker 3: not even sure that he did that. And they contrasted
- 24:03Speaker 3: it with Belichick, and I know, you know, we're comparing
- 24:06Speaker 3: him with the greatest coach ever. But Belichick, even after
- 24:09Speaker 3: a great win, would do the low light tapes. You know,
- 24:13Speaker 3: here's the things that we need to get better. And
- 24:15Speaker 3: if we keep doing these things, we're not gonna have
- 24:17Speaker 3: wins like this for long. And a lot of players
- 24:20Speaker 3: don't like that these days. But you have to, in
- 24:23Speaker 3: my opinion, you have to do that. You have to
- 24:26Speaker 3: do that. And then I was reading an article about Vrabel.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I think it was Logan Ryan was saying it.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I'm not sure, but he does.
- 24:33Speaker 3: He did the same thing in Tennessee to his credit
- 24:37Speaker 3: at Tennessee, and I think Brian Hoyer said it like
- 24:41Speaker 3: some of the leaders and the team were okay with that.
- 24:44Speaker 3: And so if your leaders are okay with being called
- 24:47Speaker 3: out in meetings and all that, and then the younger
- 24:51Speaker 3: guys will follow suit. But I think this year with
- 24:54Speaker 3: the captains being hurt and all that. You know, Mayo
- 24:58Speaker 3: didn't have that leadership, but.
- 24:59Speaker 4: The secondary maybe weren't ready for it.
- 25:05Speaker 3: But you can't. You can't be on that roller coaster
- 25:07Speaker 3: if you're a head coach. You know, you can't be
- 25:09Speaker 3: too high, you can't be too low. Uh, you got
- 25:13Speaker 3: to be steady throughout because you everything you do trickles
- 25:17Speaker 3: down to the rest of the team.
- 25:18Speaker 6: We saw that with him. We pointed it out in
- 25:20Speaker 6: real time that after the Cincinnati win the Monday morning,
- 25:24Speaker 6: Zoom called that he had with reporters. He was, My goodness,
- 25:27Speaker 6: was he on cloud nine? And I get it, like
- 25:30Speaker 6: it was an exciting win and for him, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 6: his first win in the NFL as a head coach.
- 25:33Speaker 6: I totally get it. But you could feel that in
- 25:36Speaker 6: real time. Now.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Carol did the same thing. Yeah, Pete Carroll did the
- 25:40Speaker 3: same thing. Comes here, starts off on to four or five,
- 25:44Speaker 3: I mean five and oh remember five and oh in
- 25:47Speaker 3: the NFL it's getting late in the evening, he's like
- 25:49Speaker 3: singing and dancing at the podium, you know, and like James,
- 25:53Speaker 3: you gotta be, you gotta be, you know, Let the
- 25:56Speaker 3: players celebrate, Let the players celebrate Sunday night. But Monday
- 26:01Speaker 3: the first year, I was like, what am I doing? Yeah, Monday,
- 26:04Speaker 3: we're on. We're on to the next opponent. We don't
- 26:07Speaker 3: have time right.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Well, I mean the story is from Builder in the
- 26:09Speaker 4: seven season when they went sixteen to oh and he's
- 26:11Speaker 4: just like tearing them how it's not good enough. And
- 26:14Speaker 4: I mean we went that's probably our discussion on that
- 26:16Speaker 4: Tuesday show after that Bengals game was just going through like,
- 26:19Speaker 4: I don't know, man, that wasn't good. That was I mean,
- 26:21Speaker 4: there was nice to win, but you could see the cracks.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Yeah, And I would say that. And there was a
- 26:26Speaker 5: story in The Athletic with Chad graft On the day
- 26:29Speaker 5: before Wednesday that you know, it was kind of you know,
- 26:33Speaker 5: similar vein different anecdotes. I didn't think there was really
- 26:38Speaker 5: anything that was all that surprising to read and hear.
- 26:44Speaker 5: And this stuff typically happens when it doesn't go well,
- 26:47Speaker 5: you have a bad season, you make a coaching change,
- 26:49Speaker 5: and people are going to sort of line up. I
- 26:51Speaker 5: did think that My one takeaway from both of the
- 26:54Speaker 5: stories that I thought was interesting was the amount of
- 26:56Speaker 5: people and because I assumed that there's a lot of
- 26:59Speaker 5: anonymous players involved in these quotes. Yes, for sure. The
- 27:03Speaker 5: amount of times that someone said our roster was among,
- 27:06Speaker 5: if not the worst, you know, among the worst in
- 27:09Speaker 5: the league. And I always assume that players are involved
- 27:12Speaker 5: in these, you know, anonymous quotes. So I thought that
- 27:16Speaker 5: that was sort of telling that there wasn't just pointing
- 27:20Speaker 5: fingers at the lack of organization, the lack of structure,
- 27:23Speaker 5: the lack of discipline. Is they're all knew we weren't.
- 27:27Speaker 5: We also weren't good enough.
- 27:28Speaker 4: It's got to come from the veterans, to the guys
- 27:30Speaker 4: who've been around, who have been on talented teams. It's not,
- 27:32Speaker 4: you know, coming from Jalen Polk telling you we're not
- 27:34Speaker 4: talented enough.
- 27:35Speaker 5: One of the you know, it just sort of like
- 27:37Speaker 5: you don't know what you don't know, Like that that
- 27:39Speaker 5: anecdote that was in the Herald, one about jayvon Baker,
- 27:43Speaker 5: who you know, we all kind of thought that something
- 27:45Speaker 5: probably happened in London right off the field, and they
- 27:48Speaker 5: said indeed that was the case. He was like he
- 27:50Speaker 5: miss Curfey or something. You got back late.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You understand he was trying, yeah, but what does that mean?
- 27:56Speaker 5: But he thought that that was meant to why are
- 27:58Speaker 5: you why are you benching me? I tried to be
- 28:00Speaker 5: here and try to be here, like just like you
- 28:02Speaker 5: don't know what you don't know?
- 28:03Speaker 3: You know?
- 28:03Speaker 5: That to me illustrated the younger problem. You're right, right,
- 28:07Speaker 5: Like the quotes from the people who say we weren't
- 28:09Speaker 5: good enough, those are probably veterans who are good enough.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Like Jonathan Gotch, like the older guys who've been around
- 28:15Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 28:15Speaker 6: Yeah, there was one quote in there that the Herald
- 28:18Speaker 6: piece where they said he kept on Mayo kept on
- 28:22Speaker 6: referencing a north star, but then.
- 28:24Speaker 5: Could it is?
- 28:28Speaker 6: And that to me summed it up perfectly. I was like,
- 28:31Speaker 6: here's a guy that just really didn't have a vision
- 28:35Speaker 6: and couldn't Maybe he did have a vision, but he
- 28:37Speaker 6: couldn't articulate that vision to the people below him and
- 28:41Speaker 6: so everybody. He was just talking in these like you know,
- 28:45Speaker 6: corporate leadership.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, say it's corporate mumbo jumbo as opposed to
- 28:49Speaker 5: practical leadership, right.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Like we're all trying to point towards the north star. Well,
- 28:54Speaker 6: what's the north star? Girodd It's the north star?
- 28:56Speaker 3: You know, Like right, I think I think everyone's supposed
- 28:59Speaker 3: to have their own north star what guides you? You know?
- 29:03Speaker 5: But but shouldn't you have a shared vision of where
- 29:05Speaker 5: you want to be? Like, do you think that there
- 29:07Speaker 5: was any ambiguity as to the goal? Exactly what the
- 29:11Speaker 5: goal was when Tom Brady was the QUARTERBA we want
- 29:13Speaker 5: to win. We're going to win Super Bowl? Like that's
- 29:15Speaker 5: our goal, that's the north star, right, and like here
- 29:17Speaker 5: I'm not really sure everybody knew exactly what their.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Goal was, right, And there's no shortcuts to that, all right?
- 29:24Speaker 3: Eight five five past five hundred is the TPX Hotline
- 29:28Speaker 3: podcasts at Patriots dot com is the email address. We
- 29:31Speaker 3: need to hurry because even though the Patriots season is done,
- 29:34Speaker 3: the picks must go on. So later on we'll be
- 29:37Speaker 3: doing our wild Card weekend pick.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Yeah, special guest Alex will join.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Us Saturday and Sunday, and then tonight and tomorrow we
- 29:44Speaker 3: have the college playoffs. So that's pretty cool.
- 29:46Speaker 5: I'm excited to put those games too.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I got some heavy thoughts on those, so I'd love
- 29:51Speaker 4: to pick them.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Pick those games.
- 29:53Speaker 6: We can pick them, but just for fun.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be fun. Let's pick those games too.
- 29:57Speaker 4: What do we got tonight?
- 29:58Speaker 6: Who we got to maybe I'll give you some draft
- 30:00Speaker 6: prospects to Penn State. I don't know if Abdul Carter
- 30:04Speaker 6: is gonna plays not hurt in the quarterfinal, right, And
- 30:08Speaker 6: that was a bummer because I was watching the quarterfinal
- 30:10Speaker 6: game when he got hurt, and I was like, I
- 30:12Speaker 6: don't need to watch this anymore.
- 30:14Speaker 5: He's got the juice.
- 30:15Speaker 4: He's got the juice.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Oh you got that tight end from Penn State. Yeah,
- 30:19Speaker 3: he's pretty good. He doesn't move me.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Really, he's good.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Tyler Warren, he's good tight end class. It is the
- 30:27Speaker 5: kid from Vanderbilt I really liked. There's a kid from
- 30:30Speaker 5: Bowling Green actually got the award. Maki, Yeah, who I
- 30:34Speaker 5: only saw. I only saw him play once though. I
- 30:36Speaker 5: don't know as much about him. But the kid from
- 30:39Speaker 5: Vanderbilt I've seen a few times.
- 30:40Speaker 4: He's pretty good.
- 30:42Speaker 3: All right, let's get to the phone calls, the TPX outline.
- 30:45Speaker 3: We'll start in Pennsylvania. Ryan, what's up? Ryan?
- 30:50Speaker 8: Hey?
- 30:50Speaker 3: How you doing?
- 30:53Speaker 9: Hey?
- 30:53Speaker 10: I got a two questions for you. The first one's
- 30:56Speaker 10: the hypothetical. I know, Paul, so would you rather run
- 31:03Speaker 10: it back with the same regime? You know, Mayo's your coach?
- 31:07Speaker 10: A v P Covington or would you rather have Rabel
- 31:11Speaker 10: as your head coach and not Patricia as.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Your probably be b B options.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yeah, thought with the you know you need, you need
- 31:27Speaker 3: the leadership.
- 31:30Speaker 10: Okay, okay, I'm you know, Fred, I know you still
- 31:33Speaker 10: are thankful for Matt Thatcher says doing.
- 31:35Speaker 3: His best, but listen, I am him, thanks proud of him.
- 31:42Speaker 10: And my second question is sort of off topic here.
- 31:44Speaker 10: There's been a video circulating of I think it's Jared
- 31:48Speaker 10: goff Lions play in Seattle where he does a fake
- 31:52Speaker 10: handoff and he fakes the handoff or he hands it off,
- 31:56Speaker 10: or he hands it off and fakes that he's still passing,
- 31:59Speaker 10: and he fakes so well that he gets mirrored, he
- 32:02Speaker 10: gets backed big time and they throw the uh ruughing
- 32:06Speaker 10: the passer flat. I just wanted you guys opinion on
- 32:09Speaker 10: that if you're if you're faking that, you still have
- 32:11Speaker 10: the ball. I don't think that should be a fifteen
- 32:14Speaker 10: yard tunnelty when you when you fake the handoff and
- 32:17Speaker 10: you know the running back gets hit, there's.
- 32:18Speaker 3: No for that.
- 32:20Speaker 5: What do you guys have thought? I need to see
- 32:22Speaker 5: the hit, So yeah, I agree with his premise.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Yeah I do too, if he just followed out.
- 32:27Speaker 5: A fake and was a routine hit and they only
- 32:30Speaker 5: penalized him because he hit the quarterback, I agree with him. Yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 5: my guess is that the hit was I.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Think it depends on how many steps has taken, what
- 32:39Speaker 3: he hits some blind.
- 32:40Speaker 5: Side, but how much after the fake?
- 32:44Speaker 10: Well, it's I would say it's second second and a half,
- 32:47Speaker 10: two seconds something like that. He felt he felt it, well,
- 32:49Speaker 10: I mean we What I'm wondering is that linebackers are
- 32:52Speaker 10: ed rushers. Do we have to like walk around the
- 32:55Speaker 10: other side of the quarterback to make sure they still
- 32:56Speaker 10: off the ball first before we.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Hit No's But you should yes. The answer to that
- 33:01Speaker 5: is yes, you should know if the quarterback is throwing
- 33:03Speaker 5: the ball. That's part of roughing the passer. You can't
- 33:06Speaker 5: hit him late. That's that's part of it. Now, on
- 33:08Speaker 5: the surface, the way you're describing it, I agree with you.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Like it sounds like he just had a good fake
- 33:13Speaker 5: and the guy didn't realize he he didn't have the ball.
- 33:15Speaker 10: The reason it looks sogregious. It looks egregious is because
- 33:18Speaker 10: the defensive player then goes and starts celebrating while the
- 33:21Speaker 10: play is still developing behind him because he thinks he
- 33:23Speaker 10: got the sack.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. On the surface, I agree
- 33:27Speaker 5: with you shouldn't be a penalty.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Well thanks for the carrying. Yeah yeah, okay, thanks.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I look for that. Should look for that. So like
- 33:36Speaker 5: so like an option, email a clip to to Matt
- 33:38Speaker 5: and he maybe he can play it.
- 33:40Speaker 3: So like in an option run, sometimes you see the
- 33:42Speaker 3: quarterback like kind of follow the running back the mesh, right.
- 33:46Speaker 5: If someone mesh and if someone comes in and tackles
- 33:48Speaker 5: the quarterback, that's not a penalty.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I don't think it should be.
- 33:50Speaker 5: It's not I've seen it.
- 33:52Speaker 6: Maybe maybe it was helmet to helmet or that's why
- 33:54Speaker 6: I need too hard.
- 33:56Speaker 5: Yeah, you know dotty Wait, I was gonna say, did
- 33:59Speaker 5: he land on? Did he burp them?
- 34:00Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 34:00Speaker 3: And I've heard the coaches say, listen, if they're going
- 34:03Speaker 3: to run that, make the quarterback pay. Treat him like
- 34:06Speaker 3: a runner. You know, that's what they want you to think,
- 34:08Speaker 3: that he's a runner.
- 34:09Speaker 5: That goes back to you know, I know it's a
- 34:10Speaker 5: much different game now, but.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Kill the head for how.
- 34:17Speaker 5: For? How long do you know? You can't run a
- 34:19Speaker 5: triple option in the NFL because you can't expose your
- 34:21Speaker 5: quarterback to that amount of hits. Right in the in
- 34:24Speaker 5: the old college game, the old Big Eight days with
- 34:26Speaker 5: Oklahoma and Nebraska, they're running triple out. They go through
- 34:30Speaker 5: three quarterbacks because they didn't killed, you know, even when
- 34:35Speaker 5: they didn't run.
- 34:35Speaker 4: The ball, like Eric Crouch, Scott Frost, Yes, Scott Frost.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Calvin's in Florida, Hey.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Calvin, Jamil Holloway from Oklahoma.
- 34:45Speaker 11: Hey, guys, how you doing?
- 34:46Speaker 5: Hey? You know that, don't shake your head.
- 34:48Speaker 11: So, in my opinion, I feel like we should target
- 34:51Speaker 11: Tetro McMillan with the number four pick, assuming see Higgins
- 34:54Speaker 11: doesn't come to New England.
- 34:56Speaker 5: What if he does.
- 34:56Speaker 11: Want to know what you guys think about?
- 34:59Speaker 5: Take them both.
- 35:00Speaker 11: Some of these players that aren't playing because they're injured,
- 35:03Speaker 11: like the tackle from Ohio State. Do you think the
- 35:06Speaker 11: Patriots would be willing to trade back up and take
- 35:09Speaker 11: a risk on someone that didn't play this year?
- 35:11Speaker 3: This is the kid that had the A c L.
- 35:13Speaker 6: Yes, Josh Simmons from We talked about him a little
- 35:15Speaker 6: bit last week Tuesday or whatever.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 4: I mean you feel like they need immediate help and
- 35:22Speaker 4: they need tackles, and you can't go in the next
- 35:24Speaker 4: year saying we got a rookie tackle and he's probably
- 35:26Speaker 4: not gonna play this year. But at the same time,
- 35:27Speaker 4: you know they're far away and there has to be
- 35:30Speaker 4: some degree of patience in between. In the second round.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Yeah, Josh Simmons is like to deuce his point if
- 35:38Speaker 6: they signed Cam Robinson in free agency and they had
- 35:41Speaker 6: a starting left tackle on the roster, not chokes the
- 35:45Speaker 6: corps for like a starting left tackle on the roster.
- 35:48Speaker 6: You can take your chance on Josh Simmons in the
- 35:50Speaker 6: second round and hope that it hits and then in
- 35:53Speaker 6: a year or two he's playing tackle for you, you know,
- 35:56Speaker 6: but you can't. That can't be your only plan.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that that's a thanks Calvin's a good way to
- 36:02Speaker 3: put it.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I McMillan, no question. Yeah, I
- 36:07Speaker 4: wouldn't rule him out. I mean he's not like I'm
- 36:09Speaker 4: not in love with him, but I see it and
- 36:11Speaker 4: I'm not usually the big, tall, you know, contested receiver
- 36:14Speaker 4: kind of guy. I mean, he's he's got really good skill.
- 36:16Speaker 4: It's just I mean I said it before, I want
- 36:18Speaker 4: speed on this team. I think that's what this team needs.
- 36:20Speaker 4: A speed and to push the push the envelope, and
- 36:23Speaker 4: you know, thinking if Verbe could find another A J.
- 36:25Speaker 6: Brown, if it was Leah. I mean, he's a really
- 36:30Speaker 6: fluid guy. Tepic Millan, I mean he does. He moves
- 36:33Speaker 6: like a much smaller receiver for his size. But I
- 36:37Speaker 6: just worry about the fact that if you put him
- 36:40Speaker 6: in a good wide receiver class, like where are we
- 36:42Speaker 6: really talking about him getting drafted? And now you're going
- 36:44Speaker 6: to draft him at four overall when last year I
- 36:47Speaker 6: think he probably is like the fourth or fifth wide
- 36:49Speaker 6: receiver taking off the board. I don't want to do that.
- 36:52Speaker 6: I don't want I want to take the most talented
- 36:54Speaker 6: player at that position and not get desperate for the receiver.
- 36:57Speaker 5: Yeah, but where do you think because I think a
- 36:59Speaker 5: lot of it is similar with those two tackles. Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 5: so you know, you know, I'm not sure. I don't know.
- 37:05Speaker 5: I'm not an expert in this stuff, but it doesn't
- 37:07Speaker 5: sound like Banks or Campbell would be considered better than
- 37:10Speaker 5: Alt or Fashion.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they would be in the same tier
- 37:14Speaker 6: as US fash You'll see what what Campbell measures out like.
- 37:19Speaker 6: But in terms of talent, I would say those guys
- 37:22Speaker 6: are in that tier. They're just not in the Joe
- 37:23Speaker 6: All tier. They're not in the you know, automatic blue
- 37:26Speaker 6: chip tier, but there they would be probably in most drafts,
- 37:31Speaker 6: drafted in you know, at least the back end of
- 37:33Speaker 6: the top ten, you know, high high teams, something like that.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Dominicks in New York, Kate Dominic, Hey, guys.
- 37:41Speaker 12: How y'all doing all right?
- 37:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 37:43Speaker 12: So I was curious about, like I guess, Mike Brabel
- 37:46Speaker 12: and sort of the offensive coordinated talk. It's kind of interesting.
- 37:50Speaker 12: I think the years that he would with the Titans,
- 37:52Speaker 12: he had Matt Leffler and Arthur Smith, and the team
- 37:55Speaker 12: had found great success, especially when Arthur Smith was there.
- 37:58Speaker 12: So I'm like wondering in the back of my head,
- 38:00Speaker 12: is Mike be able to kind of got with his
- 38:02Speaker 12: organizational skills you can kind of he cannot. I don't
- 38:05Speaker 12: know if it's identified the talent, but he's able to
- 38:06Speaker 12: make the right connections, find the right fit, to find
- 38:08Speaker 12: the right you know, oc to be able to actually
- 38:10Speaker 12: run this team because he's had success with somebody who's
- 38:13Speaker 12: struggling now with the Steelers, who would struggle as a
- 38:15Speaker 12: head coach with the Falcons. So I'm wondering maybe he
- 38:19Speaker 12: is just someone like even a Nick Katy that you
- 38:21Speaker 12: could bring. I know we talked about him as a
- 38:23Speaker 12: head coach candidate last Glass cycle. Could you have a
- 38:26Speaker 12: connection to bring him in and unblooked him, Like, do
- 38:28Speaker 12: you prefer someone with more of a veteran experiences offensive
- 38:32Speaker 12: coordinator for bringing Mike Rabel or do you believe in
- 38:34Speaker 12: Brabel to bring someone young and kind of coach him
- 38:36Speaker 12: up and give him the motivation and the freedom to
- 38:38Speaker 12: be able to call play.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Okay, thanks Dominic.
- 38:42Speaker 4: It's a good question.
- 38:42Speaker 3: What's Nick Kaylee doing.
- 38:45Speaker 6: He's doing. Yeah, he's with the Rams still passing passing
- 38:49Speaker 6: game coordinator. Now he got promoted with the Rams and
- 38:52Speaker 6: you know, but the bigger problem with him to me,
- 38:54Speaker 6: with Nick Kayley is he's never called plays before. You know,
- 38:56Speaker 6: at least some of these other guys that we're talking about.
- 38:58Speaker 6: You know, Tommy Reese for example, call plays at the
- 39:01Speaker 6: college level and at Notre Dame in Alabama. So even
- 39:04Speaker 6: though it's a different level, at least he's he's done
- 39:07Speaker 6: it before. He knows the flow of it and he
- 39:09Speaker 6: knows the type of thing that goes into it. But
- 39:12Speaker 6: in terms of what the caller asks like I I
- 39:15Speaker 6: would prefer Rabel to to go younger and try to
- 39:19Speaker 6: develop the next guy, Like try to bring in then
- 39:22Speaker 6: the next Ben Johnson, the next Joe Brady, you know,
- 39:24Speaker 6: the next uh, you know, Liam Cohane, Like don't you
- 39:28Speaker 6: have the experience to run the ship? Like we're not
- 39:30Speaker 6: worried about that, you know, you want somebody that's a
- 39:33Speaker 6: little bit more innovative, a little bit fresher. So Tommy Reese,
- 39:36Speaker 6: Josh McCown, you know, one of those types of people.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Josh mccon starting to get some some play too. What
- 39:41Speaker 5: I'd be interested in. And I don't know the answer
- 39:43Speaker 5: to this is what led Mike Rabel to get the
- 39:48Speaker 5: flooring and Arthur Smith from the first place, Like, how
- 39:51Speaker 5: did that come about? Was that because of the Titans organization?
- 39:54Speaker 5: Was that John Robinson we have some connections. Did Mike
- 39:57Speaker 5: have a wider network because he did spend some time
- 40:00Speaker 5: both in the college game in in Houston, Like, I
- 40:03Speaker 5: don't know.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Go from Washington? I was just thinking the same thing,
- 40:05Speaker 4: but did go from Washington to Tennessee? So yeah, that's
- 40:09Speaker 4: a great question. I don't know the answer that.
- 40:12Speaker 6: Arthur Smith, I want to say was on a staff
- 40:14Speaker 6: with him.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Think he was like the tight ends coaches.
- 40:16Speaker 6: Somewhere, maybe in Houston or something. I don't know that
- 40:20Speaker 6: I could be wrong. I tried to go down this
- 40:22Speaker 6: rabbit hole last night to try to figure out all
- 40:24Speaker 6: of his coaching connections, and I don't remember exactly about
- 40:28Speaker 6: those two, but it's a good point. He has found
- 40:30Speaker 6: good coordinators in Tennessee till the end. You know, Tim
- 40:33Speaker 6: Kelly and Todd Downing didn't exactly work out.
- 40:36Speaker 5: And Todd Downing's problem was more off field too, He
- 40:39Speaker 5: had some issues there.
- 40:40Speaker 6: Yeah, and then obviously the quarterback played the decline. You know,
- 40:44Speaker 6: Ryan Tannehill hit a wall and that contributed.
- 40:46Speaker 3: To Ben and Hershey Pennsylvania writes, and we were talking
- 40:49Speaker 3: about the football z are, and he says, is it
- 40:52Speaker 3: possible that the team already has its football ZAR And
- 40:55Speaker 3: he has TSAR in Elliott Wolfe, who will serve as
- 40:58Speaker 3: football overlord while a new head coach will have the
- 41:01Speaker 3: autonomy to select the team's general manager. Both head coach
- 41:04Speaker 3: and GM would report directly to wolf Historically, in EVP,
- 41:09Speaker 3: title has represented a higher level role than GM in
- 41:13Speaker 3: football operations, and he gives examples in twenty fourteen, the
- 41:17Speaker 3: Dolphins brought in Tannenbaump to oversee the entire operation as EVP,
- 41:21Speaker 3: while Dennis Hickey served as GM. The Commanders a similar
- 41:25Speaker 3: structure from twenty twenty one to twenty twenty three, with
- 41:28Speaker 3: Marty Hernie EVP of personnel and Martin Mayhew GM. The
- 41:34Speaker 3: Broncos staff both John Elway EVP and Matt Russell GM,
- 41:38Speaker 3: and later George Peyton as GM. In twenty thirteen, the
- 41:43Speaker 3: Jaguars gave Tom Kaughlin the title of EVP and GM.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Dave Calwell managed day to day player personnel decisions, and
- 41:50Speaker 3: in fifteen Rich McKay was EVP of football for the
- 41:55Speaker 3: Falcons and Tom Dimatroff was their GM.
- 41:58Speaker 6: Yeah, Rich McKay is still there with the Falcons. It's
- 42:00Speaker 6: a good point. But the guys that you name, for
- 42:04Speaker 6: the most part, have a level of expertise in a
- 42:08Speaker 6: lot of ways that I don't think pretty much.
- 42:10Speaker 5: All those examples are disasters by the.
- 42:12Speaker 6: Way, that don't fit Elliott right, like Elliott Wolf. To me,
- 42:16Speaker 6: it should be if you're going to keep him on
- 42:18Speaker 6: as an executive, like he's the personnel guy. He's not
- 42:21Speaker 6: the bizarre, he's not the overseer. Like, the best example
- 42:25Speaker 6: of it working, I think in this way is John
- 42:27Speaker 6: Lynch with San Francisco. And John Lynch is sort of
- 42:31Speaker 6: like the tone setter to the organization, right, He's an
- 42:34Speaker 6: intense guy. He brings a lot of energy, he brings
- 42:37Speaker 6: a lot of leadership qualities. The guy that's picking the
- 42:40Speaker 6: players is Kyle Shanahan, right, Kyle Shanahan is the one
- 42:43Speaker 6: that's grinding the tape. John Lynch is not in his office,
- 42:47Speaker 6: but the computer screens up watching you know, the bowling
- 42:50Speaker 6: green tight end and saying we should draft this.
- 42:51Speaker 5: So that to me is the two different things. And
- 42:54Speaker 5: I know a lot of people are like, well, there's
- 42:56Speaker 5: a lot of teams and it's almost all of them
- 42:58Speaker 5: they have the GM and the coach is under the GM.
- 43:00Speaker 5: But like, to me, the best situations are where the
- 43:05Speaker 5: coach might not have final say in every single personnel
- 43:09Speaker 5: move that they make, like the one that Evan just mentioned,
- 43:13Speaker 5: but the coach is kind of in charge. You know,
- 43:16Speaker 5: Andy Reid is not having Brett Veach like force feed
- 43:21Speaker 5: him every He's not saying no, no, no, You're not going
- 43:25Speaker 5: to keep that guy in your fifty three man roster.
- 43:27Speaker 5: You're going to keep this guy that's not now. Veach
- 43:29Speaker 5: is out there getting the players Andy reads, not as
- 43:31Speaker 5: Evans says, minding the tape for every single personnel guy
- 43:35Speaker 5: that they move, that they make. I think those are
- 43:38Speaker 5: the best situations where you have a strong you know,
- 43:40Speaker 5: Sean McVay unless Snead work well together.
- 43:42Speaker 4: They know what each other wants and they understand. That's
- 43:45Speaker 4: that's That's what I'm not here to tell you.
- 43:47Speaker 5: I can't tell you exactly who has the final final say.
- 43:51Speaker 5: And I'm not suggesting that Mike Rabel should come here
- 43:53Speaker 5: and have carte blanche like Bill Belichick did. I'm not
- 43:55Speaker 5: telling you that that's true. But if there's something that
- 43:59Speaker 5: needs to be decided, I think I would err on
- 44:02Speaker 5: the side of the coach over an EVP.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 4: So it just to be clear, is traditionally EVP is
- 44:09Speaker 4: below the GM or a.
- 44:12Speaker 5: Above above, you know, Like I just think that a
- 44:16Speaker 5: lot of those are like figurehead types, like Marty Hernie, Right,
- 44:21Speaker 5: that's a figurehead.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I don't even know he is.
- 44:23Speaker 5: He used to be in Carolina. He did actual really
- 44:25Speaker 5: good job in Carol. He was He's the old media
- 44:28Speaker 5: guy who became a GM like Dave Caldwell. You know,
- 44:31Speaker 5: Tom Coughlin is outstanding, So he was in charge kind
- 44:35Speaker 5: of like Bill Parcells was in charge of Miami Lateon's career. Like,
- 44:39Speaker 5: I don't really want to do this anymore. I just
- 44:40Speaker 5: oversee everything, you know, Like Tom Coughlin was really good
- 44:43Speaker 5: what he was. Dave Caldwell wasn't a good GM. You know,
- 44:47Speaker 5: they had some success there. You know, we saw at
- 44:50Speaker 5: firsthand when the Jags almost beat the Patriots in the
- 44:53Speaker 5: AFC title game.
- 44:54Speaker 6: Yeah, that type of guy's the bottom line.
- 44:57Speaker 3: You don't think that Elliott has the experience to be
- 45:00Speaker 3: an EVP.
- 45:01Speaker 6: I just yeah, or just like the personality, like I
- 45:04Speaker 6: think Elliott wolf Is is a scout. I think he
- 45:07Speaker 6: you know, he he's a tape grinder. He's a scout. He's,
- 45:10Speaker 6: you know, somebody that goes to all these you know,
- 45:13Speaker 6: Senior Bowl, you know, Shrine Bowl and private workouts, and
- 45:17Speaker 6: he's like in the trenches with with his guys. You know,
- 45:19Speaker 6: I don't think that that role like the Tom Coughlin
- 45:23Speaker 6: is like somebody that has been around the block a
- 45:26Speaker 6: little bit that either was a head coach or an
- 45:28Speaker 6: executive for decades.
- 45:30Speaker 5: Tom Coughlin built the Jags the first.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Time, got them from scratch.
- 45:34Speaker 5: But from scratch, I mean, he was in charge of everything.
- 45:38Speaker 5: So I trust you want to give me a guy
- 45:41Speaker 5: like Tom Coughlin, you know the you know whatever the
- 45:44Speaker 5: current version of that is. You you know what I mean, Like,
- 45:49Speaker 5: you want to give me a version of that, now,
- 45:51Speaker 5: sign me up. Just looking at Matt Lafleur, he was
- 45:56Speaker 5: in Houston, but not with my eight oh nine. He
- 46:00Speaker 5: was an offensive assistant. Mike was still playing at that time.
- 46:04Speaker 5: You know, he went from Atlanta as quarterbacks coach in
- 46:07Speaker 5: fifteen sixteen to the Rams. It says offensive coordinator. My
- 46:11Speaker 5: guess is that's Sean mcvay's first year. So he really,
- 46:15Speaker 5: to Fred's point, was just coordinating the offense, not actually
- 46:18Speaker 5: the offensive coordinator. And then he went to the He
- 46:22Speaker 5: went to the Titans in eighteen and then you know,
- 46:25Speaker 5: ended up getting his head coaching job from that one year.
- 46:28Speaker 5: One year with the Titans.
- 46:29Speaker 4: It's your nightmare.
- 46:31Speaker 5: So I don't know the bottom line is, I'm with Evan.
- 46:34Speaker 5: I don't know exactly what the connection was. Yeah, to
- 46:36Speaker 5: get Mike Rabel in contact and at least.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Shows that he's plugged in. He's knows, you know, Like
- 46:42Speaker 4: I mean, if we were to hire I don't know
- 46:43Speaker 4: the rams offensive quator right now, like you know, you'd
- 46:46Speaker 4: feel pretty good about it.
- 46:47Speaker 3: I mean, I would feel.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Really good about that. If Nick Keley is that next
- 46:50Speaker 5: guy I know that we were strongly interested in as
- 46:52Speaker 5: OC last year, I would feel I'd feel pretty good.
- 46:55Speaker 6: That's that's why you hire Rabel, right is because he's
- 46:58Speaker 6: a turnkey option, Like he should have all these connections
- 47:01Speaker 6: and he probably already has these guys lined up. But
- 47:03Speaker 6: it doesn't seem like anybody has a great idea of
- 47:05Speaker 6: who it is one hundred percent. But I'm sure that
- 47:08Speaker 6: he already has a one guy or maybe you know
- 47:11Speaker 6: two or three that on a short list.
- 47:12Speaker 4: That's that's the most interesting thing to me about the
- 47:14Speaker 4: Ben Johnson interview of who's he bringing with him? You know,
- 47:17Speaker 4: like that part of the conversation to me is who
- 47:19Speaker 4: do you have lined up? Who do you you know?
- 47:20Speaker 4: And is it easy? Is he like this guy, this
- 47:22Speaker 4: guy I know they'll come or is it well I'd
- 47:24Speaker 4: like to try to get him. I'd like to try
- 47:26Speaker 4: to get you know, like what's I.
- 47:27Speaker 5: Think Fred asked, you know, if you could pick anybody
- 47:29Speaker 5: who would you want. I don't have the answer because
- 47:31Speaker 5: I need I need more.
- 47:32Speaker 4: Information because it's gonna come with with with people.
- 47:34Speaker 5: The idea of Ben Johnson probably intrigues me more than
- 47:38Speaker 5: any other idea. But if you're going to tell me
- 47:40Speaker 5: Mike Rabel is gonna come, he's going to take care
- 47:42Speaker 5: of the defense, and he's got a really strong offense,
- 47:45Speaker 5: even if it's Josh like a really strong offensive coordinator
- 47:47Speaker 5: in mind, well, Ben Johnson, I don't know. We're going
- 47:51Speaker 5: to try to cobble together a staff the way that
- 47:53Speaker 5: Gerard Mayo had to take.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Right, He's gonna have to poach a bunch of guys
- 47:56Speaker 4: from the Lions. And you know who's gonna go who's not?
- 47:58Speaker 6: Yeah, so his offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, most people think
- 48:03Speaker 6: is Mark Brunell, who's currently with the with the the
- 48:06Speaker 6: Lions coming here as the quarterbacks and uh and he's
- 48:11Speaker 6: so ed Strand right the tight ends coach Tanner Extrand.
- 48:16Speaker 6: He's he's next in line in Detroit to take over
- 48:18Speaker 6: for as offensive coordinator for Ben Johnson.
- 48:21Speaker 5: So there's always was he one of the guys we
- 48:23Speaker 5: talked to last year.
- 48:24Speaker 6: We interviewed him last year. This is like always these
- 48:27Speaker 6: these like unwritten rules of like you can't poach these guys,
- 48:30Speaker 6: but you can poach those guys, right, So apparently Brunell's
- 48:33Speaker 6: the guy that he could poach and bring with him
- 48:36Speaker 6: to his next stop as his coordinator. Uh.
- 48:38Speaker 5: And they can't take the succession plan, right, he can't
- 48:40Speaker 5: take the succession plan, but maybe.
- 48:42Speaker 3: The Patriots could take this guy Instagram.
- 48:45Speaker 5: Uh as an I mean without as an oc, without
- 48:48Speaker 5: Ben Johnson, you mean.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Without Ben Johnson. Rabel comes in and takes that guy.
- 48:54Speaker 5: But but now, now, if I'm the extrand guy, I'm like,
- 48:57Speaker 5: why are exactly leaving the best offense and your offense?
- 49:01Speaker 3: But it's anyway, I see what you're saying.
- 49:04Speaker 6: Yeah. So on the defensive side, he was in Miami
- 49:09Speaker 6: with lou Anarumo. So so Big Lu gets fired in
- 49:13Speaker 6: Cincinnati and now he's available to come be his defensive coordinator.
- 49:18Speaker 6: Darren Rizzy, the New Orleans Saints interim head coach, was
- 49:21Speaker 6: in Miami with Ben Johnson as well, so staff would
- 49:25Speaker 6: most likely be Brunell, lou Anaumo, and Rizzy as a
- 49:29Speaker 6: special teams coordinator.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Rizzy, by the way, has you know if you wanted
- 49:33Speaker 5: to bring him here for a special team like he's
- 49:35Speaker 5: played at u ur I local guy teammates with. He's
- 49:41Speaker 5: got a lot of a lot of boxers to check though.
- 49:43Speaker 6: Oh, actually, do you know who is the last special
- 49:46Speaker 6: teams coordinator for Rabel and Tennessee? No, Tom Quinn, who
- 49:52Speaker 6: is currently employed by the New England Patriots.
- 49:54Speaker 5: I don't know who.
- 49:55Speaker 6: Tom Quinn is our assistant special teams coordinator.
- 49:57Speaker 4: I know Bob was also the defensive coordinator at holy
- 50:01Speaker 4: Cross my first my freshman year there. One of his Like,
- 50:03Speaker 4: he's a well traveled coach.
- 50:05Speaker 6: But yeah, there's probably a decent chance that if it's
- 50:09Speaker 6: Rabel that special teams might not be touched. It's like
- 50:12Speaker 6: when we.
- 50:12Speaker 5: Had Googe as the offensive line coach. Googe was a
- 50:15Speaker 5: player at BU when I when I.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Was really Yeah, that's funny.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Greg and Charlotte. I'm sort of in the camp that
- 50:22Speaker 3: I'd be happy with either Rabel or Johnson at this point,
- 50:25Speaker 3: But I wondered what your opinion was. Do you think
- 50:27Speaker 3: either Rabel or Johnson would be a better draw for
- 50:29Speaker 3: free agent talent and do you think one coach or
- 50:32Speaker 3: the other would significantly impact how we think about the
- 50:35Speaker 3: fourth overall pick. Like which which coach would be a
- 50:39Speaker 3: bigger drawer or a better drawer.
- 50:41Speaker 4: I think they're different, Like I can say I can
- 50:43Speaker 4: make arguments for both guys, because I think there'll be
- 50:45Speaker 4: guys who like Rabel's kind of personality. Is a tough guy,
- 50:48Speaker 4: you know, a guy who played, who's been there and
- 50:51Speaker 4: I had a little bit of success. But I think
- 50:52Speaker 4: guys would also be drawn to the offensive wizard.
- 50:55Speaker 5: As simple as that. You know, like, offensive guys would
- 50:58Speaker 5: probably be more drawn to the Johnson. Defensive guys would
- 51:00Speaker 5: probably be more drawn to Rabel.
- 51:02Speaker 4: Yeah, probably. So then it becomes about the coordinators and
- 51:04Speaker 4: how do you balance it out? And how do you
- 51:06Speaker 4: hire an offensive coordinator with Rabel that brings some offensive
- 51:10Speaker 4: guys in? If you're Ben Johnson, how do you hire
- 51:12Speaker 4: a defensive coordinator that brings some of the defensive guys too?
- 51:16Speaker 3: Uh? Boston Kream writes in if Rabel means McDaniels and
- 51:19Speaker 3: McDaniels means a fullback, sign me up, Uh, Paul. One
- 51:24Speaker 3: of my favorite parts of the twenty twenty four shows
- 51:26Speaker 3: was you calling out so many of Belichick's double standards
- 51:29Speaker 3: and using his media gigs to take shots at the organization.
- 51:33Speaker 3: So what do you think about his comments in regards
- 51:35Speaker 3: to the last four years and having a disconnect with
- 51:37Speaker 3: the scouts and managers.
- 51:40Speaker 5: Very convenient line of demarcation, right, the maginal line. Tom
- 51:45Speaker 5: Brady's gone and suddenly our vision isn't the same coincidence
- 51:51Speaker 5: I think not? Yeah, just another in a long line
- 51:54Speaker 5: of it was his hypocrisy. Don't blame me, it's.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Them, right, not a shared vision.
- 52:01Speaker 4: It is interesting though, like I mean, not that I
- 52:02Speaker 4: expected it not, Tom Brod, do you never have any
- 52:05Speaker 4: even acknowledgment that things completely fell apart here from him?
- 52:09Speaker 4: Like he just you know, it's like he kind of sits,
- 52:11Speaker 4: like like he stands.
- 52:13Speaker 5: I know you're no longer had the same vision.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Anthony and settle right, Anthony settles They maybe right
- 52:22Speaker 3: now I feel like a kid without parents. I need
- 52:24Speaker 3: a coach to come in and make me feel like
- 52:26Speaker 3: everything's going to be okay. Right now, I just feel lost.
- 52:30Speaker 3: I do think they should have given Mayo another year.
- 52:32Speaker 3: But my one exception was if we had a chance
- 52:35Speaker 3: to get Ben Johnson. I don't know if he can
- 52:37Speaker 3: be a head coach or not, but I want to
- 52:38Speaker 3: take a big swing and That's my example of a
- 52:41Speaker 3: big swing. I'm warming up to the idea of Rabel,
- 52:44Speaker 3: but I'm certainly not afraid of losing out on him
- 52:47Speaker 3: by doing our diligence and interviewing other candidates. Lastly, on
- 52:51Speaker 3: a side note, on the postgame show, what Nelson called
- 52:54Speaker 3: into the show. I turned up my volume because he
- 52:57Speaker 3: never lets me down. Sure enough, three seconds in he
- 53:00Speaker 3: drops an S bomb. You guys reacted, but let it slide.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Ten seconds in F bomb call drop and I'm dying laughing.
- 53:08Speaker 5: I'm trying, like I tried to, like, you know, okay one,
- 53:11Speaker 5: I can't let you get come on, F bombs, Come on,
- 53:14Speaker 5: I know, no, got to have some standard those socks.
- 53:16Speaker 4: His glasses steamed up a little where we heard that.
- 53:19Speaker 5: He didn't like the span of like fifteen seconds. It
- 53:21Speaker 5: was s and then.
- 53:22Speaker 4: F oh no.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Rake says, uh, why would the Patriots considered Mike Vrabel
- 53:26Speaker 3: as their head coach when he was passed on a
- 53:28Speaker 3: year ago, bringing Gronk. I think Gronk as the head
- 53:31Speaker 3: coach of the football team.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Yes, I can Animal House in Detroit.
- 53:37Speaker 4: He's like one of those just be good, just be awesome.
- 53:39Speaker 4: Why can't you just be awesome.
- 53:40Speaker 5: Why can't you just jump over that guy and catch it?
- 53:43Speaker 4: Just be six seven and fifty and run.
- 53:47Speaker 5: We're on the picture right now.
- 53:52Speaker 4: You all right, Yeah, I'm not sick at all that
- 53:54Speaker 4: don't like throat lava.
- 53:57Speaker 5: Little Chris Berman like gargoing with lava tuline.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Let's go back to it and we'll go to John
- 54:05Speaker 3: in Virginia. Hey, John, Oh, John is not there.
- 54:09Speaker 5: You didn't make him wait that long.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Uno lunch Patty's an what's up? Patty?
- 54:17Speaker 9: Hey, good afternoon, gentleman.
- 54:19Speaker 5: Is more of a liquid lunch. Patty.
- 54:21Speaker 9: I got a couple of hypothetical for you, and that
- 54:25Speaker 9: it has to do with the offensive court of the
- 54:28Speaker 9: possible offensive coordinate nators for the two top candidates. So
- 54:33Speaker 9: the first one, like if Brabile does come and he
- 54:36Speaker 9: does bring Josh McDaniels, and then remember this is hypothetical,
- 54:40Speaker 9: would you like the idea of kind of what Andy
- 54:43Speaker 9: Reid did. I can't remember if it was before or
- 54:46Speaker 9: after they drafted Pat mahomes where he got someone from
- 54:49Speaker 9: the college ranks to sort of modernize his West Coast offense,
- 54:53Speaker 9: Like if we could possibly work with somebody in the
- 54:55Speaker 9: college ranks to modernize Josh's offense.
- 54:59Speaker 5: Well, I think yeah, I mean that would make sense.
- 55:01Speaker 4: I mean Josh was you know, we did our shot,
- 55:03Speaker 4: our you know, Brady thing with Josh, and that's what
- 55:06Speaker 4: he's been doing. He's been going around to colleges and
- 55:08Speaker 4: other places and other programs. That's what he's been doing.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Last time.
- 55:10Speaker 5: Yeah, he talked to us a little bit about that.
- 55:12Speaker 5: That's a good point, Mike, I had forgotten about that.
- 55:14Speaker 5: He spent some time with Ohio State, I think out
- 55:17Speaker 5: in the West coast with USC and.
- 55:19Speaker 4: Auditing, a lot of auditing, doing a lot of Daniels
- 55:22Speaker 4: did this.
- 55:22Speaker 5: Yeah, he spent a lot of time on some college campuses.
- 55:25Speaker 5: That's last year.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Well, that's that's hopeful.
- 55:27Speaker 5: Yeah, but I think, Patty, you're.
- 55:29Speaker 6: Right tically it was Brad Childress, so it wasn't a
- 55:31Speaker 6: college coach.
- 55:32Speaker 5: But I digress about the spread. Yeah, yeah, no, but
- 55:35Speaker 5: I just whoever, whoever it was, I don't really care
- 55:38Speaker 5: who it is, as long as you understand your limitations. Yeah,
- 55:42Speaker 5: that's why I really liked the idea of Rabel spending
- 55:45Speaker 5: time with Cleveland trying to learn offense. Yeah, Like, I
- 55:48Speaker 5: know what people think and I know what I don't know.
- 55:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:52Speaker 6: So in twenty thirteen, when Andy Reid got to Kansas City,
- 55:55Speaker 6: so this is before Patrick Mahomes, he hired Brad Childress
- 55:58Speaker 6: as a spread game analyst.
- 56:01Speaker 5: And so that's what I was thinking.
- 56:02Speaker 6: He turned his West Coast offense into what Mike Lombardi
- 56:06Speaker 6: coined as West Coast College and he combined the spread
- 56:08Speaker 6: elements of the college game with the traditional West Coast
- 56:12Speaker 6: offense and birth what we now know is the Chiefs offense.
- 56:15Speaker 6: And obviously, you know, Mahomes came later and took it
- 56:18Speaker 6: to New Heights, but that that was the birth of that.
- 56:21Speaker 6: But that was Brad Childress, who was the guy that
- 56:23Speaker 6: he hired to do.
- 56:24Speaker 4: What do you guys remember Andy Reid's first stint. I
- 56:26Speaker 4: mean I was doing a little just you know, looking
- 56:28Speaker 4: back at some of the coaches that got second chances,
- 56:30Speaker 4: and you know, I remember Andy Reid really kind of
- 56:33Speaker 4: had a bad rap as like terrible game manager. Right
- 56:35Speaker 4: at the end of the game. I still don't think
- 56:38Speaker 4: he's yeah, that's win Super Bowls anyway, but it was.
- 56:41Speaker 4: But he went to like what three or four straight
- 56:43Speaker 4: NFC championships kind of right out of the gate, Like
- 56:45Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, four in a row. I don't know.
- 56:48Speaker 4: I just I just just doing a little bit.
- 56:50Speaker 5: He was a very good coach in Philadelphia. He's been
- 56:53Speaker 5: a great coach, not coincidentally with you know, the best
- 56:56Speaker 5: quarterback in the game.
- 56:57Speaker 4: That's how it kind of works.
- 56:58Speaker 6: It's not when he called time out interesting.
- 57:03Speaker 5: So I could tell, I could tell you mocking me.
- 57:07Speaker 6: You know, it's actually more.
- 57:11Speaker 5: But this is kind of what I'm talking about, Like
- 57:14Speaker 5: we give the coach the credit, like Patrick Mahomes fixed
- 57:18Speaker 5: Andy Reid's clock management issues, much like Tom Brady in
- 57:22Speaker 5: Bellichick admitted it two weeks ago. Yeah, Tom Brady covered
- 57:26Speaker 5: up for a lot of missteps along the way. That's
- 57:29Speaker 5: the benefit of having such greatness at that position. Brady
- 57:35Speaker 5: kind of made Belichick look at clock and time management
- 57:39Speaker 5: in a whole different way.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Speaking of clock management in game thinking, Rabel gets a
- 57:45Speaker 3: lot of credit for that. I think there was an
- 57:49Speaker 3: anecdote on the Twitter yesterday about a game and I
- 57:53Speaker 3: forget who they were playing, but toward the end of
- 57:55Speaker 3: the game, he purposely ran a twelfth guy out in
- 57:58Speaker 3: the field to get that penalty to and it ended
- 58:01Speaker 3: up saving forty seconds at the end of the game
- 58:04Speaker 3: and they ended up winning.
- 58:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, he knows all those from Belichick, like a
- 58:09Speaker 6: lot of those wrinkles and stuff. But you know, that
- 58:12Speaker 6: was sort of the exchange with Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski wanted
- 58:16Speaker 6: to get better at that kind of stuff and Rabel
- 58:19Speaker 6: wanted to get better at offense. So they brought him
- 58:21Speaker 6: in last year in Cleveland as a consultant and Stefanski
- 58:25Speaker 6: him offense and he tossed the fans feed game management now.
- 58:29Speaker 5: Little things like that, So you know, you do that,
- 58:32Speaker 5: you know, you do the loophole and the clock when
- 58:34Speaker 5: it's outside of five minutes that we saw him do
- 58:36Speaker 5: here in the wild card game, right, because I'm the
- 58:40Speaker 5: only one allowed to bend the rules exactly right, right,
- 58:43Speaker 5: And you know this is you know, Mike Rabel was
- 58:46Speaker 5: involved with the original thing way back when when they
- 58:49Speaker 5: called two timeouts in a row, that's right, And then
- 58:52Speaker 5: they ended up altering that rule so you couldn't do
- 58:54Speaker 5: that anymore, ye you know, So again, is it the
- 58:59Speaker 5: coach or do you have some special players too?
- 59:02Speaker 4: Well, that was part of it. I just I remember
- 59:04Speaker 4: Andy Reid being a little bit of a punch line
- 59:05Speaker 4: and even you know, had tons of success. But I
- 59:08Speaker 4: just wonder what the move was in Kansas City if
- 59:10Speaker 4: they're saying a lot of the things like we're saying
- 59:12Speaker 4: of like, yeah, you know, he was a good coach there,
- 59:14Speaker 4: but is he really going to get us to the
- 59:16Speaker 4: promised land? You know? Is he really that special guy?
- 59:19Speaker 5: It wasn't. I mean, the Andy Reid hiring in Kansas
- 59:21Speaker 5: City was not met with, you know, but this is it,
- 59:24Speaker 5: This is the missing piece that we needed to get
- 59:26Speaker 5: us over the top. But they weren't that kind of
- 59:28Speaker 5: a team.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Sixty Schottenheimer who came before.
- 59:32Speaker 5: Him, No, not Shottenneimer. Geez, it would have been would
- 59:36Speaker 5: it be.
- 59:37Speaker 4: Who was that jerk coach?
- 59:39Speaker 5: Herm Edwards or hers or Vermeil before.
- 59:43Speaker 4: There's another guy out of Pittsburgh.
- 59:44Speaker 5: I'm thinking of maybe she want to say Herm Edwards
- 59:47Speaker 5: he succeeded, but I don't. I don't know for sure.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Bryan's and Raleigh, North Carolina. I hate Brian, Bryan, Bryan,
- 59:56Speaker 3: Hello Brian.
- 59:58Speaker 6: So technically it was Romeo Cornell. Cornell served as the
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: interim in twenty eleven when they fired Todd Haley's from Pittsburgh,
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: and then Cornell hung on for one more year after
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: his interim season, and then they hired Andy Todd.
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: Haley actually brought him to the playoffs and No. Nine,
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: I forgot about him.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: One more email than we'll take a break. We got
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: to hurry. Pete Odawa now in Fort Lauderdale listening to
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: old podcasts from January twenty twenty three. At that time,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Evan seemed to really dislike and not think that Josh
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Allen was good. When did Evan change his opinion? Also
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: around that time, Mike was thinking he was going to
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: have to get a dog due to pressure from his family.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: Did he get a dog? No dog. I don't trust
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: people who don't like dogs.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: No dog, no or something.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: I don't like dogs. I just don't want to have
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: to take care of a dog.

- 1:00:52Speaker 13: Do Yeah.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: I don't trust people that like dogs more than people.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: Oh sorry, he doesn't like people who don't like dogs. Yeah,
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: I don't know their dogs like there they are actual people.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: I think.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: When did you decide that Josh Allen was good?
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: Like five years ago? So I would assume that was
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: a sarcastic as you met him last year, I was
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: maybe a sarcastic Okayne with him after the game, like, yeah, awesome.

- 1:02:58Speaker 7: May played great. It was a lot of fun to watch.
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: Saw the preparation that he put in throughout the weekend.
- 1:03:04Speaker 7: You know, I told him on the field, you know
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: it's hard to do. You know, you haven't played all year.
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: You come in the last game of the year and
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: do the things that you did. You know, obviously put
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: a lot of people on notice around the league, you know,
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: And like I told him, I was excited for what
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: he did.
- 1:03:18Speaker 16: You know, it was a lot of fun to watch.
- 1:03:20Speaker 17: Well, you're surprised at what he did today, but then again,
- 1:03:23Speaker 17: probably not because you guys watched him do it against
- 1:03:25Speaker 17: defense all year long.
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: Right, Yeah, Nah, I wasn't surprised at all, Like I said,
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: the preparation that he did, uh throughout the week, you know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: and and and it and it came to fruition today.
- 1:03:34Speaker 13: To become a free agent.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: And how do you do your future tis?
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Uh that's probably of being a free agent. You don't
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: know right now obviously, and uh so figure some things
- 1:03:44Speaker 7: out and then.
- 1:03:45Speaker 16: Go from there.
- 1:03:46Speaker 13: What's important to you and your next assassinations.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: I think I'll get some time to reflect and and
- 1:03:51Speaker 7: and you know, every year you gotta reevaluate what's important
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: and you know, and and you know, in a couple
- 1:03:56Speaker 7: of weeks, I'll figure that out and figure out my
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: plan of action.
- 1:03:59Speaker 18: Which could be from what you've experienced in the NFL.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: What do what do you.
- 1:04:03Speaker 18: Think this team in this franchise needs to do this
- 1:04:07Speaker 18: off season and things tom to move forward to to
- 1:04:10Speaker 18: take a step back back for being your.
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: Contender, Uh continue to Bill you know obviously, uh, not
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: the results we want, but you know, its first year
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: for a lot of you know, head coach off Scording
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: d Scorting a GM you know, uh, you know but
- 1:04:21Speaker 7: people don't understand all that. But uh, you know, obviously,
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: good things take time. You know, it's not like Rome
- 1:04:27Speaker 7: was building to day. I know that's saying, but uh,
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: you know, keep building with the right people around here.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: You know, got a lot of talent here, got a
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: lot of good coaches around here. And you know, the
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: the word that people don't want to use is patience.
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: You know, you gotta have patience with this thing.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:04:40Speaker 16: It's and you know, I think just keep getting better.
- 1:04:43Speaker 18: You mentioned first year co uh head coach offensive coordinator
- 1:04:47Speaker 18: Defense Cord. How hard is that for a team to
- 1:04:50Speaker 18: come together when everybody's.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Learning on their job.
- 1:04:53Speaker 16: Uh, yeah, it's hard, you know.
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: Uh uh, But at the same time, that's why they
- 1:04:58Speaker 7: pay us an a And you know, obviously next year
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: will be second year, so you know, you obviously you
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: know you gotta continue to get better.
- 1:05:05Speaker 16: From year one to year two. And and you know,
- 1:05:08Speaker 16: I figured that's the mindset.
- 1:05:09Speaker 13: Did you see growth from coach Mayo?
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: Like are the things you would point to that say.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: He was better?
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: Sure?
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: You know, it's it's it's it's hard for y'all to
- 1:05:17Speaker 7: see that because y'all obviously aren't here every day.
- 1:05:20Speaker 16: Uh you know, uh so, uh, but you know, I.
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: Think it's it's continue growth throughout the year that I saw,
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: uh and you know, obviously getting the off season when
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: there's no games in time like for the dust to
- 1:05:31Speaker 7: settle and and you know, and look back at each
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: week in each game and and reevaluate and.
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: Then you see the jump. It's just like what you
- 1:05:37Speaker 16: do with players.
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: You know, you you're one y, you what you expect
- 1:05:42Speaker 7: from rookie, and and then year two you get better,
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: and year three you get better, and your four you
- 1:05:45Speaker 7: get better.
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: And that's how that's how this league works.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: More questions guys like.
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: Yeah, man, I mean who, Like I said, it's it's
- 1:05:55Speaker 7: obviously you gotta reflect on a lot of things and
- 1:05:57Speaker 7: and figure those things out.
- 1:05:59Speaker 16: Yeah, what do it mean to you to win?
- 1:06:02Speaker 17: Tell you especially when you consider how those season wit
- 1:06:04Speaker 17: this year?
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: Uh, I mean it feels good, you know, like when
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: and uh, it feels good, you know, you know, the
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: end the season with a dub.
- 1:06:11Speaker 17: The as you know, it was a weird week if
- 1:06:15Speaker 17: fans all knew if you guys lost, you get the
- 1:06:16Speaker 17: number one pick.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: How weird was that? Today?
- 1:06:19Speaker 17: With the vibe in the stadium kind of they they
- 1:06:21Speaker 17: wanted you to lose, so you get the number one
- 1:06:23Speaker 17: pick and the threat.
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: Oh I, they ain't got nothing to do with me.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: I I want this win.
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: I don't care about nothing, you know, not a I
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: mean the first round pick of I just wanted this
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: win back.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: What about?
- 1:06:35Speaker 16: What did you think of.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: A lot?
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: You nice?
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: But I I I already knew that though. I mean
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: I trained with him in a uh summer, and I
- 1:06:43Speaker 8: always knew he he had talent, god like him though a.
- 1:06:45Speaker 15: Few weeks of light name you said, you know your
- 1:06:47Speaker 15: name losing obviously, how to go.
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: To an out of teason like that's?
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:06:51Speaker 8: How would you kind of reflect on that interest in
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: what this.
- 1:06:53Speaker 15: Season has been like?
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: Uh? I mean for me, I mean I'm gonna work,
- 1:06:57Speaker 8: you know. Uh, you know I I don't like losing seasons,
- 1:07:01Speaker 8: and uh, I feel like for the team, everybody should
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: have that same mindset.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: You know, man, we don't.
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: We don't like this taste, and I mean getting another taste,
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: you know, next year and a good taste though this.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: Time pretty cheering for people just got that same mindset
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: they they do? You think everybody has that same minds?
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: I mean they should. I mean, I I I don't
- 1:07:21Speaker 8: know how everybody's thinking. So I mean they should I mean,
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: they shouldn't like how this season went. So I feel like,
- 1:07:28Speaker 8: you know it should come back, work hard this offseason
- 1:07:31Speaker 8: and come back next year.
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: And let's get it.
- 1:07:33Speaker 17: You've talked about liking to play for Gerard Mao, A
- 1:07:36Speaker 17: lot of you guys have he've had his back. I'm
- 1:07:38Speaker 17: sure you'd love to play for him again for sure,
- 1:07:40Speaker 17: But if he were let go, how disappointed would you be?
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: H I'll be yeah, I would be hurt.
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: I ain't gonna lie to be hurt just because uh
- 1:07:47Speaker 8: he he he.
- 1:07:47Speaker 16: He's a good coach.
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: I mean it's his first it's his first you know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 8: first year with a lot of young players. You know, uh,
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: a lot of captains was out hurt. I mean, so
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: I'm a lot of people didn't take that into consideration.
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: You know, we we was a young team and you know,
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: with a first, first year coach, and it was a
- 1:08:03Speaker 8: whole new DNA you know, uh, different coaches and stuff
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: like that. So I mean it it's gonna be slow
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: at first, but once we all get together, you know,
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: lock in, it'll be different.
- 1:08:13Speaker 17: What did you guys see behind the scenes that we
- 1:08:15Speaker 17: didn't see or that the fans didn't see. That makes
- 1:08:18Speaker 17: you so uh sure that he's gonna be a really good.
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: Coach, cause I mean he w we worked and he
- 1:08:22Speaker 8: he pushed us. You know, uh it it just the
- 1:08:24Speaker 8: out come then come our way.
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: Uh we just had the the bad end of the stick.
- 1:08:29Speaker 8: But you know, uh it doesn't last for ever, you know,
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: bad time throne last for ever, and we just gotta
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: go out there and ball.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: D pap was it was this a a k sort
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: of a strange atmosphere today, sort of like a a
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: scattering of booze or you.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: Guys w went you know, yeah, I mean I don't
- 1:08:45Speaker 8: wanna get into that cause you know, I love the Fairs.
- 1:08:47Speaker 8: Even though they could be mad at us, you know
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: that we won't.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: But uh that it was weird.
- 1:08:53Speaker 14: You know.
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: Uh it wasn't as loud as you usually get when
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: you but I I mean I understand, yeah, I understand.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Gerard said it.
- 1:09:01Speaker 17: Was emotional in the locker room after the game.
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: What was his message to you guys, Uh, you know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: just you know, uh s bit definitely stay safe you
- 1:09:08Speaker 8: know for the you know, the off season, but you know, uh,
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: we should be proud of this, this win, you know,
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: you know, despite how the season win, man, this this
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: wind still means something.
- 1:09:20Speaker 16: Uh.
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: How do you feel like you've developed, you know, individually
- 1:09:22Speaker 10: personally in this district? Uh?
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: I believe developed pretty good. Uh the better than last year.
- 1:09:29Speaker 8: So I mean I'm going, you know, up and as
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: long as I'm going in the right direction, I believe
- 1:09:34Speaker 8: I'm doing pretty good.
- 1:09:36Speaker 13: You guys won't make the plans of off seasons to
- 1:09:38Speaker 13: get together West Drake and just kind of hone in
- 1:09:41Speaker 13: on more with no.
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: Yeah, Drake had came up to me and say, popshot
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: of Uh, where you will you be?
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I'd be in Florida.
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: They said, Oh, we're gonna be at the beach working line.
- 1:09:50Speaker 8: I said, yeah, let's get it. And uh, you know
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: he'd be in North Carolina. I come up to North
- 1:09:53Speaker 8: Carolina with you. He said, I don't know if you
- 1:09:55Speaker 8: want that still gonna be a little cold. I said
- 1:09:58Speaker 8: it'd be all right for sure.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: I appreciate it.
- 1:10:05Speaker 15: And now great moments in.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: History, he says, are any of you playing World?
- 1:10:12Speaker 16: Yeah?
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: I played? Do you play right now?
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: Why not.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: Get so upset?
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Well, the way you answered it that's not isn't that
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: how we just said it?
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Absolutely, you were very.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: This is not how I said it in my head.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: I tell you how I read it. I read it that.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: I have no time for that. No, no, no, he
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: has plenty of time for it. He plays a bunch
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: of other games like that.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: Okay, but everybody else is doing that one right, all right.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: So you don't like why I read it.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: You don't like word o eric, I don't know. I've
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: never done it, So then why are you so dismissive.
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: I'm not so dismissive, you know.
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: I don't think they chose five letter words the most
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: common number of the English language.
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: I don't know, but it's it's always maddening when they
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: use a letter twice, which I don't like that.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: I think they did did that today.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: They did well. If you pick a letter to explain
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: all the rules, if you're interested, go find out.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: Like for examp, like if it was because you were
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: so dismissive, I wasn't.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: Now you want to know about it?
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: A little bit dismissive, just a little bit, just a
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: little bit.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: That's another great moment from.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: Even listening to that Black's thought for sure, you were
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: going to say, go yourself, would have an extreme go
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: find out yourself.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: All right. I still play Wordley. Yeah, I play wordle
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: and then I play connections. Oh yeah, you know which
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: one that is.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: I don't know connections. I still play wordle more often
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: than not. Did you ever not get it?
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, not not a lot. But I'd say like
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: every once every thirty week.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: I had one last week. That's why I thought of it.
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: I had one last week that I never want.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Once in a while, I make a mistake and I
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: use a letter I shouldn't. I know, you can't use anymore,
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh, what did you just do?
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Beats himself up over Yeah.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: Throw the phone across.
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: Damn.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: What the Patriots do now?
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: No?
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: Nothing? All right?
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Eight five Pat's five hundred is the TPX hotline. Get
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: some more emails and calls in here before we have
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: to do picks. Alex will be joining us. Andre from
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: New Jersey said, if Paul wants to break out his
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: little pole, put me in for Vrabel as the next
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: head coach over Ben Johnson, just because of the experience,
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: the success with the Titans and feel like he will
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: bring in a better coaching staff. Feel like with Ben
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: the Crafts would sell a lot more on why he
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: should be in Boston. With a disaster of a roster,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: maybe Gonzo may Gonzo, an all pro schooler, will not
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: be good enough compared to a team like Chicago. Also
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: side note, Fred is right, the league is better when
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield is playing well. Let Baker bake this weekend.
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: I love that one.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: Baker Bake.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Yeah. I had a little poll going in the postgame
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: show about how most people were pissed off that they
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: had won the game and then went side at about
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: five o'clock.
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: Do you think that you just said it like the
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: hastiness of the announcement with Gerrod Mayo after the team
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: basically just got an earfull for win the game on Sunday,
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: Do you guys think that that had any thing to
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: do with how quickly that announcement came down, Because that
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: announcement was.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: I'm not here, I'm not here to rule that out.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: We came up to the press box after open locker
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: room and everything like that, and I remember I was
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: walking to go use the restroom and all of a
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: sudden I just heard this, like like roar in the
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: press box, just like.
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: Oh wow, are you up in the press box at that?
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: And I actually saw the Yeah, I actually saw Mark Daniels.
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: And I looked at Mark Daniels and I was like,
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: you might want to get back to your computer. And
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: he was like, what do you mean why? And I
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: told him why and he just took off. He didn't
- 1:14:08Speaker 6: even look at me.
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: It just took Off's the worst feeling, yeah, because you
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: think you got X amount of work to do and
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: suddenly you realize.
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: Imagine what the paper would have been like that night.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: Back in the day. You'd run to the pay phone right,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: drop it down and stop the presses, stop the presses,
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Dan Wrights, is there any way we could convince Rabel
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: to be the GM footballs are and Ben Johnson the
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: head coach? Is that an insane suggestion? Probably it's a
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: fun one.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, it's just a fun fact.
- 1:14:39Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: Yeah. So your whole theory about the win. I don't
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: think they want winning the game had anything to do
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: with why Gerard Mayo lock great job, agreed, But I
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: don't completely dismiss.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: The uh yeah, the swiftness and you know what we're
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: doing it.
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: Now, like maybe they would, you know, like, I can't
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: believe we just won that game.
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: You know what.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: Now I'm not waiting till tomorrow to hear though, And
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: I'm not saying that that's what happened, but you know,
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: I can see, you can see that stranger things have happened.
- 1:15:06Speaker 5: Let's put it that way.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Brandon says. I want to give Evan and Barth props
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: for their show yesterday. It was their best episode of
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: Catch twenty two, Yeng, and I look forward to more
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: of their offseason episodes, especially if Ben Johnson is somehow
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: selected as eighth seed. What do you think made yesterday's
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: show so good?
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: So this listened to a little bit we weren't so
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: getting after it.
- 1:15:26Speaker 6: I would say that these are our two philosophies on football,
- 1:15:31Speaker 6: manifested in two different people like that now just so
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: happened to be candidates to be the Patriots next head coach.
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: So normally we argue about like Kyle Shanahan, which is
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: like irrelevant really in the grand scheme of things with
- 1:15:44Speaker 6: the Patriots. But now that the Patriots could hire their
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: Kyle Shanahan, I'm all hot and bothered by that. And
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: he's got his football guy and Mike Rabel that's going
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: to come in and you know, run the program, and
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: I know all that kind of stuff, and so he's
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: hot and bothered by that, and so it's just a
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: perfect debate between the two of us. And I think
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: the fun most fun part about it was that we
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: both like both guys, So it's not like we would
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: be super upset if it wasn't our guy that gets hired.
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: But you know, we can go to the mat with
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: him still too.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: I don't think we should get too far ahead of
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: ourselves by worrying about Rabel's OC getting taken away from
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: us after a year or two. Obviously that wouldn't be ideal,
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: and acknowledge it's a concern, but I don't think Rabel
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: should hire someone based on whether or not they'll be
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: here long term. If we end up churning through OC's,
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: hopefully it's a sign that our offense is elite and
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: our program is strong. Good point.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: But yeah, yeah, I like that was Alex's point yesterday.
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: It was just you know, just like Bill, did you
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: start a pipeline? You know, it's Charlie Weiss and then
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: it's Josh McDaniels and it's Bill O'Brien and all that
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: type of thing. But that was I think very rare
- 1:16:51Speaker 6: and led by Brady. But obviously if you can pull
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: that off, you pull it off.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: It's also I think in the modern game, to use
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Fred's thing from earlier, I think that those things happened
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: faster now. You know, it was you know, four years
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: of Charlie Weiss with Brady before Charlie Weiss left, and
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: then it's you know, six seven years of McDaniels before
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: he left, and then you had Billy Oh for another
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: three four years before you then all of a sudden,
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: you don't have as you know, as much time to
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: groom those people behind the scenes. Now, they should have
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: had somebody ready to go when McDaniels left the second time. Yeah,
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: that's a misstep on Belichick's part in my opinion, if
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: they should have had someone, but like they started to
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: leave quicker, and I think if you look around the
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: league now, people start, you know, you have a couple
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: of really good years. If some if Nick Keyley came
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: here to be Vabel's offensive coordinator and has two good years,
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: he's gone, someone's going to hire him.
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: You see, like Bobby Slowick last year came out of nowhere.
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: He was getting interviews. Even with a subpar year and
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: year two with Stroud, he's still kind of in the cycle. Yeah, cycle,
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: it's probably the I was gonna use Fred Zeitgeist, but
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: you know, cycle. Yeah, I just wonder if this happens
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: fast now, I wonder what would.
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: Have happened, And and Bill, I'm sure knows. I'm sure
- 1:18:17Speaker 6: I know Bill knows better than all of us about
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: Nick Keyley, But like, what would have really happened if
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: they had given the offense to Nick Keley in twenty
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: twenty too? And what he was he really that far
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: away from being ready because he was on the staff
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: for a while, you know, at that point, I want
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: to say it was four or five years that he
- 1:18:34Speaker 6: was already on the staff and he was coaching tight ends,
- 1:18:37Speaker 6: which is a usual pipeline to offensive coordinator. And it
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: was just interesting, you know, if he had handed it
- 1:18:43Speaker 6: over to ni Achille in twenty two would have been
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: that much of a disaster.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: I think too, with these comments about the last four
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: years from Bill thinking about it now, it makes a
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: little bit more sense to me some of the stuff
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: we speculated of him doing things out of spite of
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: being like, well that's how you want to do it, Okay,
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: we'll do it that way. You know, some of those
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: things never really ran true. But now that you see
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: Bill clearly points the line going back all the way
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: to twenty twenty, a lot of those decisions now make
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: a little bit, like make a little bit more sense
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: to me. I can find it a little bit more
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: believable that he was, you know, being obtuse about things
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: and like, you know, making decisions that maybe weren't necessarily
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: what he thinks is best for the football team, but
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: he was kind of just doing it to do it
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: because you know, in his view that's what they wanted
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: him to do or you know how they want to
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: do it.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: That's silly, right, Like who other than him wanted Mat
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: Patricia to be the offensive coordinator? Matt Patricia didn't want
- 1:19:32Speaker 5: to be the offensive coordinator. He took a bullet for
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: the coach. We owe gratitude and you just say, really,
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: I'd rather have you just say thank you and beyond
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: with it.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Right some day, Ray and Saint Louis, do you all
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: feel there was a different reaction from players compared to
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: when we let Bill go. Last year seems like they
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: had Gerard's back more as compared to Bill. What do
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: you think not now, you guys, I disagree, you guys.
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: Well, it's hard because you had an open locker room
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: after Jerra was fired and we didn't really get to
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: talk to any of the patriots. Got absolutely absolutely correct,
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: it would have gotten I think I don't.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: I actually thought the reaction was kind of lukewarm on Monday.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: I mean I thought there were some people that sort
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: of just said, well, that's the business that we're in,
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: and that's I know what happens. I thought David Andrew
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: was pretty matter of fact about it.
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: He was, he definitely would. I mean he just seen what.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: Godshaw was pretty I thought Dietrich wise on the it
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: was was one that was, you know, he deserved more
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: like someone killed his daughter. Yeah, but I didn't. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: think Mike makes a great point. We didn't get that
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: in that.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: Locker room with Bill, which was unfettered access, and I
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: mean that was you know, I think last year they
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: wrote a like didn't Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyde wrote
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: a postseason kind of analysis like they did this year.
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: But you didn't have a chance to just walk through
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: the locker room and have all those guys just sitting
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: there at the ready waiting, and there are plenty of
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: those conversations going on on the side beside the scrums
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: that you know, we were all part of.
- 1:21:01Speaker 6: It was definitely bizarre to go into a locker room
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: where there wasn't a head coach that was in charge,
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: and it did kind of feel a little bit like
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: the wild wild West, like you know, these guys could
- 1:21:11Speaker 6: say anything like there's nobody in charge, like you know,
- 1:21:14Speaker 6: there's nobody.
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: They said everything when someone was in che I know,
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: so now there's nobody in charge of it, even you know,
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: even worse.
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: Joe has it. Would you rather two options? Option A
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: is head coach Rabel oh C is Josh McCown, d
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: C is Shane Bowen. Option B head coach is Ben Johnson,
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: oh C is Mark Brunell, and d C is lou
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Ana Romo.
- 1:21:40Speaker 6: Both good options.
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I like both options, very well thought out.
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: Shane Bowen is not going to be the DC, but
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: he's the giant, right Yeah.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: But I don't need d Yeah, like I don't need
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: you know, necessarily like a louted.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: He's a pretty good defensive heart out. He was in
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: the in the hard notch this summer with with the giants,
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: and you know they I.
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: Would probably take b I would probably take Ben Johnson,
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: but not you know, those are good. Those are both good.
- 1:22:09Speaker 6: Options, Like I like to.
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: Well thought out.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Another email comes in. Who's this from? Jay? All Right? First,
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I wanted to ask if you also think Phil Perry
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: kind of looks like Andy bighead but with a smaller head.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: No, Phil is striking, He's a strikingly handsome man. Andy's not.
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: Taken by Andy. The women he had his followers.
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know who that be. I know Bill Perry,
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: I know Phil Perry.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: He's a type.
- 1:22:42Speaker 6: He's got a type, our own mob Phil Perry.
- 1:22:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Well, she also thought that Mike Giardi was the best
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: smelling guy on the beat.
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: But I can I can confirm. But yeah, I don't
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: necessarily think they look I mean, first of all, Andy's
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: half the size. Phil's tall, and.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: He's pretty jacked.
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: I mean, he's probably just keep smelling it now.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: Jay also says I hate Time six, double hate and
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: loathe entirely the idea of Josh McDaniel's coming back to
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: be the OC it's just another retread, and one would
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: think Rabel, the leading candidate, seemingly would have more options
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: and options with more innovative new concepts to take advantage
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: of Drake May's skill. Also, if Rabel is the coach,
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: I could really see them drafting Will Campbell. He seems
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: like the type of player right up his alley. He
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: could also see them signing someone in free agency, uh
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: something for Evan.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: Sodo sign one draft one. Oh, that's what that means,
- 1:23:46Speaker 6: sign a tackle, draft to tackle. Okay, Yeah, because we were,
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: you know, no half measures at the tackles a corps
- 1:23:52Speaker 6: for you know, so like, let's actually go out there
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: and let's let's address the position.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: He says. Wyatt Millum is another interesting prospect, but I
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: can't see them taking tackles in the first two rounds.
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: I do like your thought of Rabel leaning toward.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: A tackle, especially a kid like that wou attitude.
- 1:24:12Speaker 6: Yeah, but I would say Ben Johnson would do the same.
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: Like Ben Johnson, I am sure knows that what butters
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: his bread and in Detroit is that offensive line and
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: Penny sewell in that whole group. So I would be
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: shocked if Ben Johnson came in here and I was like,
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: do what I really need a wide receiver? Like I
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: don't think that he would be that way at all.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Travis in West Virginia Wright sin fred Ace ticket was
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: pretty self explanatory. But I have no idea what TPX is,
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: and you've never specified. They make phones and communications systems.
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: So on all our desks they're TPX phones. That's nobody uses.
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: Does anybody in companies use their desk phone?
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: And I got to call the other day one anymore?
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: I get messages but they're from like nonsense.
- 1:24:54Speaker 5: Well I I can't retrieve my messages.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: I don't know how, but it's got to. It is
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: a symbol, literally, it's a it's a mail and I.
- 1:25:03Speaker 5: And I get to that.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't have a pin code.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: I thought I did, but I evidently it's not the
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: same as it was. Okay, so I did. It was
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: striking because I got a call.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: So you have to set your new phone up. You
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: never set your new phone up.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: What are you going to do? As you said the.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Inanettront, I don't think you need it. And then it
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: has a list of.
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: Got to call Alabama the all the other day and hello,
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: this is Paul. I can't remember the last time I
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: took a call.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: On when it rings and you're like, what is that
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: my phone?
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: Is it? Who's the coach over in Alabama?
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: Now the boorka Kok?
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: Is that him calling you?
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: No?
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: It was the radio show some recommendations about coach.
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: Big Patriots fan producer, one of the shows down in Alabama.
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: I wanted to I wanted to get my take on
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: No High Tide.
- 1:25:54Speaker 3: Also, Travis says, also, will you be issuing a written
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: statement about massimists similar to the one mister crapout my own?
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: That's that's terrible. That's terrible.
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: I put that in a terrible position.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Position, that's great. I should do a fake that just
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: kind of leave it on the copy machine downstairs for
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: him to find.
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: That's gonna that's gonna leave a market. That's awesome.
- 1:26:29Speaker 6: Fred is the steward of the most games.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: There's your email of the week, Alex. That's awesome.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: That's funny. All right, Oh, a couple more calls. We
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: don't really have to hurry too much. We are going
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: to do a couple of bonus touts the college games.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: You know what I mean by that, Paul, I do
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: know what you mean.
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: I just am not really prepared to make picks.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: But just go with it at all. Not really you're
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: not into it.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Oh, I'm into it. I just don't know.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: Oh for the college, it's two games for the college.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: For the college, I'll give it a college try.
- 1:27:04Speaker 6: You'll be fine.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: You never lose college picks.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: I'm not writing them down anyway, so it doesn't matter.
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: A couple a couple of bonus touts on today's picks. Oh,
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: by the way, on one of your shows, Evan, the
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: Saturday Morning Show at seven with with Kendrick Millerton and.
- 1:27:26Speaker 6: And Dan my boy dad.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: Yeah, they got into it. They got it like right
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: off the back, so disrespectful. They got into this big
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: argument for like twenty minutes about what about, you know,
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: making fun of when the other person has a bad
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: week or a bad pick, not taking victory laps.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: And he.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: He said, okay, the gloves are off. She thought it
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: was done, but then he went on Twitter and made
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: fun of her, and and so they went back and forth.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: It was it was they don't they don't think they
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: like each other.
- 1:27:59Speaker 6: So they I'm pretty sure that they're friends, but now
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: maybe they've.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: Had well they said they love each other. But I
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: think it was a kind of like professional colleague love,
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: you know what I mean? Yeah, no, but I mean
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: not his friends. Not his friends.
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: Yeah. I don't catch that show all the time because
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: that's one of your.
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: Showy morning Saturday morning.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Well, I'm driving to tennis on Saturday.
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: I am.
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: Yeah, he's Freddy. I like play tennis. He can play tennis.
- 1:28:30Speaker 6: I like it when he brings the racket on the road.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I did that once.
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: No, you didn't you bring it to Arizona?
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: Oh yeah right yeah last year?
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: Yeah yeah yeah, And didn't you like by last year
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: you mean like a month ago.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we went to Arizona, but Vegas. I brought
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: it to.
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: Okay, But isn't there like an app where you can like.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: Like no, but I I call I. There probably is
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: an app. Okay, Then I didn't use that. I just
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: find a local club and see if I can book
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: some time with the pro. Yeah, there you go.
- 1:28:58Speaker 5: You're such a hard Oh I'm on the road. I
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: have to call wherever I am and book some time
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: with the pro.
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: I going to play at home.
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: You can book time with the pro.
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: I do that as well.
- 1:29:07Speaker 5: But I'm gonna be gone for a day and a half.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: I need to If I can't play on Saturday, I
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: don't want to miss my Saturday.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: See when you brought your golf clubs, Paul, and you
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: were going golf in one of these I.
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: Would love to do that, but never did it once
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: because I'm.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: Not a hard So do you you bring your own racket?
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:29:23Speaker 6: So do you check the racket?
- 1:29:24Speaker 14: Like?
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: Did they let you it under the plane?
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: You saw me I had the bag, yeah, and it
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: was a separate bag.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: Yeah. See that's the class system.
- 1:29:31Speaker 16: You know.
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: Fred gets to bring stuff and put it under the plane.
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: Pretty sure they wouldn't let me bring.
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: So I could. I could. I could bring a tennis
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: dragging on the plane.
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: You don't know tennis, because you know, you don't want
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: to be made fun of.
- 1:29:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I like a pickleball could fit in my bag
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: that you could do it.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: I was trying to get Lucas Smith.
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: Does he play tennis?
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: He's a good he's a good actually played in high school.
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: Oh that's right. I knew that. Yeah, I knew that.
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: I could definitely see Lucas being a good golfer. That
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: checks out.
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: He's a pretty good golf Yeah, yeah, yeah, hits it
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: a ton. Lucas Yeah, Lucas big hitter of the loamap,
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: big big hitter.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: So we went to Top Golf two nights ago. I
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: went to Top Top Golf and it was the international team.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: You know, the people that we have working on the
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: international thing. We have some big hitters. Joe Durant can
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: crush it. Kawhi are Brazilian, he could crush it. And
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: then we had Marcus Kuhn who used.
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: To play the villain.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: He was hitting it like it was the but I
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: swear to god, it was going over the net onto
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: the Road's the Top Golf.
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: They get mad when you do that. You're not Yeah,
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: they kick people out for doing that. Well he wasn't
- 1:30:47Speaker 6: doing it, yeah, like over the net.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean because you could cause an accident.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: Right, I'm not gonna lie. I went with Mike in
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: my goal. The whole time I was trying to hit
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: it over the back net. I hit, I hit a
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: couple off the net, but I couldn't get one over
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: this guy.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: I mean, it was like Herman Munster.
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: It was.
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: It was unbelieving him.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: I also imagine Kuhn had like twenty five beers. In
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: him at that point? Is that guy were in Germany.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Man, he was just going and.
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: He could hit everybody there a Europeans So that checks out.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, it's golfing.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: Yeah, so it sounds like a fun night. Yeah, we
- 1:31:26Speaker 5: get you know, you'll get nothing to like it.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: Let's see, well, let's go to the phones. Uh, Kendalls
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: in North Carolina trying again. What's up Kendall? Good? What's
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: going on over there?
- 1:31:44Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: My question do you think, I mean, if Josh McDaniels
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: is the higher, do you think.
- 1:31:50Speaker 9: He could get the most out of the slot Josh McCain.
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: Hey, I like the idea that he knows how to
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: get production out of that pot.
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: The idea of getting another slot receiver kind of agree.
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: I kind of get someone that's better than.
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: Ok meccabuka from Ohio State. There you go.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: I had no doubt that Evan would have the option.
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: Yeah, Jansen two point zero?
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: Ye, like, yeah, you want to get j s n Yeah,
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: let's no. But no, I'm just saying, let's accentuate the slot.
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: Like if we have to Mario Douglas, he's a complimentary peace.
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: I don't need to accentuate him.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: I'll give the Chargers poke pop and born in.
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: You don't want to ask for Herbert to good trade?
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: Good trade.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Nelson's in La. What's up Nelson?
- 1:32:42Speaker 11: Oky?
- 1:32:43Speaker 9: What's the guy?
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: I want to say?
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: I'm doing a wonderful y'all today?
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: Happy you're always even though y'all hang up after I Curt,
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: I don't care about it, you know, but I never
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: forget my dad.
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: I hope you're good up there, Nelson with the fires man.
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: Yes, I'm away from all that right now.
- 1:33:02Speaker 6: I forget it exactly.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: I know. Wonderful.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: Okay, Thanks, that's just called to apologize, alright, apology.
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: We still love you. He's fired out and you know everybody, Yeah,
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: everybody gets passionate and emotional.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: After the game. When you after that, you're hydrated. That's
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: a good point too, Freddy yep.
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: What else do we got here?
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: Let's see Johann from Germany. What do you think about
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: Cliff Kingsbury? He was a hot candidate and probably still is.
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: What do you think Why is he not being talked
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: about more so?
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: I love I love Cliff Kingsbury. He gave a press
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: conference last week or the week before that where he
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: expressed maybe some patients and wanting to kind of wait
- 1:33:51Speaker 6: it out a little bit longer for him to take
- 1:33:53Speaker 6: another plunge at it at A and you know, obviously
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: he's in a great situation with Jayden Daniels in Washington,
- 1:33:59Speaker 6: so he's getting requests though. I think he two teams
- 1:34:02Speaker 6: have very Chicago, which makes a ton of sense because
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: he coached Caleb Williams at UILLC. Yeah, he's interested. You know,
- 1:34:09Speaker 6: he's in the cycle. There's there's no doubt about it.
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: But it might be next year for him.
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: I mean that's your thing though, Like if you were
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: Washington right now, when you be thinking like we got
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: this guy maybe one more year, maybe two, a four, lucky,
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: like you really got to start to plan that out
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: and know that you're gonna need a succession plan.
- 1:34:23Speaker 6: It's a perfect example because Dan quick And is a
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: lot like Mike Rable, you know, defensive coach ra ra guy,
- 1:34:29Speaker 6: and then you know he could circle through oh C's
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: you know that that could be an issue for him.
- 1:34:34Speaker 3: One more question then we're going to get to our
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: pick segment. Ben in California, and this is a good one.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: I don't dismiss this question, Paul. I want you to
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: think about it other than staffing. What's one question you
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: would ask Mike Rabel in his interview, what's the one question?
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: Not who are you going to bring with you? That's staffing,
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: but what's the one question other than that, what's your
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: plan for Drake?
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: I would I would ask about discipline, discipline, like his
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: thoughts on you know, how, how do you feel like
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: you can treat the modern player?
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, that's a good one.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: That's a good one. It's like, I'm for it. I'm
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: for discipline.
- 1:35:13Speaker 6: I think Mike and I are kind of on the
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: same way. I would ask about offensive philosophy.
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: Y like to me, I look at that as staffing, like,
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: how do you how.
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: Do you want to win football games? And did you
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: win the way? I intend to see the way you
- 1:35:25Speaker 6: won because you had prime Derrick Henry in a good
- 1:35:28Speaker 6: defense and it just that was your personnel.
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: Great question and it fit.
- 1:35:32Speaker 6: Or why are you willing to win on the arm
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: of the quarterback and do it that way?
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: Yep? What's yours? Fred?
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: I like yours? Paul? I think I might ask I'm
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: playing the role of Robert Kraft here. I'm not asking
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: this as Fred Kirsh I'm asking this as Robert Kraft,
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: if you were me, what you would you be focused
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: on for this team? In other words, put Mike, put
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: yourself in my role, what would you be focused on
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: for the New England Patriots? And see what he says, Yeah.
- 1:36:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's the most attractive part of Mike
- 1:36:07Speaker 6: Rabele to me is like he could come in here,
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: like do an audit of their entire football program and
- 1:36:12Speaker 6: give a list of like we need to do this, this,
- 1:36:15Speaker 6: this and this and then that could like fix the
- 1:36:17Speaker 6: whole thing, right, you know.
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: There's no sacred cows with him, like you would go
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: right across the board and tell you what he thinks.
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Yep, all right. So do we have Alex Oh where
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: is she.
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: Going to do?
- 1:36:31Speaker 6: I guess.
- 1:36:35Speaker 11: Zoom.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: Well, marine forgot what we're doing pics. You thought picks
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: were over. Forgot that we do a brain.
- 1:36:43Speaker 6: It's a failure of the marine going to give like
- 1:36:45Speaker 6: a presentation or something. It looks like you're about to,
- 1:36:47Speaker 6: like you teach us about like gut health or something that.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: Time hurry, gut health. All those things they sell on TV,
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: the powders that you eat, it's like green stuff, not good.
- 1:37:08Speaker 13: I'm not going to call out any specific brands, but
- 1:37:10Speaker 13: they're scams, like Athletic Greens.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: That's a scam, is it?
- 1:37:14Speaker 6: Yeah, and a lot of heavy metals.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: It sounds so good, like, oh it does it helps
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: your eyesight and your hair and your toenails and your gut.
- 1:37:23Speaker 13: You know, carrots and good probiotic foods and just a
- 1:37:27Speaker 13: healthy diet.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: Doesn't say.
- 1:37:30Speaker 13: That requires but if you're not eating a proper diet
- 1:37:34Speaker 13: and then you think Athletic Greens is going to save you.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: That's the way they sell it.
- 1:37:40Speaker 13: Yeah, you know, I don't subscribe.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: It doesn't work.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: My favorite Alex food take now though, is that she
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: tells me that I'm allowed to eat red meat and
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: not feel guilty about it. That really makes me feel good.
- 1:37:50Speaker 13: Well sourced steak and like grass fed finished beef. It's
- 1:37:55Speaker 13: one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet.
- 1:37:57Speaker 13: I will die on that hill forever.
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: Goodness.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: I don't know if you know, but I've had a burger.
- 1:38:07Speaker 13: All those studies about like red meat being the villain,
- 1:38:12Speaker 13: it's all studies done on people who are eating like
- 1:38:15Speaker 13: pizza and sausage and everything. Like a person that's eating
- 1:38:20Speaker 13: when Fred and I were growing up with broccoli.
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: And was the thing every night that was healthy everything.
- 1:38:26Speaker 13: I gave up me for probably like five months with
- 1:38:31Speaker 13: my mom. My mom just went vegan for a summer.
- 1:38:33Speaker 13: She was it was her midlife crisis. I'm sorry if
- 1:38:35Speaker 13: she's listening. I joined her because I was home from college.
- 1:38:39Speaker 13: My hair is falling out, my skin sucks. I've never
- 1:38:41Speaker 13: had worse health. Reintroduced red meat and just like healthy. Yes,
- 1:38:46Speaker 13: I've heard similar stories to that.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: You see these vegans and they got running noses, they're thin,
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: they're mash and then you see the guys walking out
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: of McDonald's, they're.
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: You know, strong and healthy McDonald example. But yes, I
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: get your points. Yeah, robust about like das. Okay, all right, so.
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: We wait, okay, go ahead. What happened last week? No,
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: you want to do them?
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: I want to strike up the band?
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: Okay, more of a coronation final results just so Week
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: eighteen always a tricky week, but not for Alex oh
- 1:39:32Speaker 5: twelve and four, followed by Mike and Fred at eleven
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: and five, Paul at nine and seven, and Evan at
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: eight and eight. So I had my opportunity.
- 1:39:43Speaker 16: I did.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I had my opportunity did not take.
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: That eighteenth game, we might have been able to catch out.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: So the final standings, this is the overall final standings.
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: It is Evan one ninety one in eighty one. Who Alex,
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: I'm sorry so close, one ninety in eighty two wow.
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: One game. Beat Evan by four games in week eighteen,
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: but needed to beat by five. Then I was one
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: eighty four and eighty eight, and then a tie for
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: the poop emoji with Mike and Fred one eighty three
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: and eighty nine, So poop for all with the spread
- 1:40:23Speaker 5: Mike nine to six and one.
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: Wow, could you?
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: Followed by Evan and Fred eight seven and one, Paul
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: seven eight and one. That's just poor to me? Uh,
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: and Alex six nine and one.
- 1:40:38Speaker 6: When ninety I don't understand how that happens.
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: That's twelve and four to six nine and one. Evan
- 1:40:46Speaker 5: also wins with the spread one fifty six one ten
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: and six, which qualifies as a choke by me because
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: again he went eight seven and one. He gave me
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: the opening to pass him, and I choked one fifty
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: four one twelve and six. I was two games back
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: of Evan. Fred gets the Bronze at one fifty one,
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: sixteen and six, Mike one forty nine, one seventeen and six,
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: and Alex with the Poopamoji one forty one, one twenty
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: five and six.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: I think that against the spread, this is the best
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: year for collectively, don't you think, Paul, Because it's always
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: somebody it's below five hundred. Not this year.
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: Sixteen games over five hundred was the worst, right, not.
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: Not even close to five hundred this year. So this
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: is a pretty amazing game. Good effort. But everyone again
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: like the double double, the double crown.
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: Double crown did the ball and the nerds you did,
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: you made a statement for the balls are so proud
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: of you.
- 1:41:48Speaker 6: Right now, I'm proud of myself.
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: It's like when you know the nerd gets to like,
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: you know, data day cheerleader, the cheerleader, It's like, if
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: he can do it, I might be able to do
- 1:41:59Speaker 3: it too.
- 1:42:00Speaker 6: Yeah, Alex.
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: Right now Alex is thinking this could happen for me. Yeah.
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: I mean if it happened for Evan, it can happen
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: for me.
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:42:10Speaker 6: I think he thinks that. Anyways, our situations.
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: I'm not gonna so I would be remiss if I
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: didn't include the folks. This is your lock of the
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: week update. Took the took the l This week Fred
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: had Atlanta as his luck of the week minus eight
- 1:42:32Speaker 5: lost out right lost.
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: Let me repeat that Atlanta.
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: Had had Atlanta minus eight lost outright to Carolina. So
- 1:42:41Speaker 5: for the season. This is obviously something I picked up
- 1:42:44Speaker 5: late in the year three and six on your locker.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: I can't be perfect.
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: No, you certainly can't be all right.
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: So that's better. That's better.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: Better.
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: Okay, now we start, Now we start son. Somebody on
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: the different give me the college games spreads. Yes, tonight
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: is Penn State and.
- 1:43:05Speaker 6: Notre Dame Notre Dame on ESPN, ESPN. So it's a
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: Notre Dame by one.
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: Notre Dame by one. Interesting, yep.
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: And what's the other one.
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: The other one is Ohio State versus Texas and it's
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: Ohio State by six. That's tomorrow, correct, both at seven
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: thirty on SPN.
- 1:43:25Speaker 5: Okay six Ohio State.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, So we'll do the Notre Dame in Penn State. First,
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: Penn State by one.
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: Okay, I'm gonna Notre Dame by one Notre Dame.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: I thought you said Penn State by not Dame by one.
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: That changes everything, A big win everything.
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: I'm glad I finally had a chance to drop some
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: college football knowledge on y'all.
- 1:43:47Speaker 6: Drop it, Douce.
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: You know Penn State. You said maybe missing Outdual Carter.
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: I think it's a big blow for them. So I'm
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: gonna go.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: Where's the game being played?
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: The Orange Bowl?
- 1:43:56Speaker 6: The Orange The other is the Cotton Bowl, Texas.
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: More or less the home team, and the other one
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: Notre Dame.
- 1:44:05Speaker 13: I used to be in the camp with Evan. That's
- 1:44:07Speaker 13: hard to pick Notre Dame in these big games, but
- 1:44:09Speaker 13: him and Tamara had a pretty heated debate and Evan lost.
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: Yeah, last week I lost. I didn't I undersold the
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: fact that Georgia's was playing their backup quarterback. That really
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: killed them.
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: You know what really killed Georgia in that game? And
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: their problem all year their receivers can't catch.
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: Yeah, they can't catch.
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: They drop. They lead the nation and drops.
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: Yeah. I mean they obviously lost mconkie and Brock Bowers
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: to the NFL, so they're kind of in a transition
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: period there, So Notre Dame game, I'm sticking them with
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: my gut. I've watched my entire life. Notre Dame choke
- 1:44:46Speaker 6: and big football games exactly like this one. Drew Ayler,
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: the Penn State quarterback, is the apple of a lot
- 1:44:52Speaker 6: of people's eye right now might come out. So I'm
- 1:44:55Speaker 6: going to take Penn State in this game.
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: So to Evan's point, this is a game with two
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: programs that traditionally choke and puke all over themselves in
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: big games. I'm just going to take Penn State because
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: my son's friend goes there.
- 1:45:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm taking Penn State two.
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: All right, I'm rooting for Liam to get a national championship.
- 1:45:15Speaker 6: Some people don't forget about the man Tito era.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: Okay, so now we move to Friday night on ESPN
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: seven thirty.
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: Did you say yep?
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: I think both games a seven kick off probably won't
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: be to like eight thirty.
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: But really I thought they were kicking off kill you?
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Is that not right? I don't know, because I was
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: actually holding out hope that I could actually watch these
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: games and not being unconscious by the time.
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: Probably have all the pre games. Yeah, it's a base.
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: Ohio State by six.
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: Yes, So Ohio State just beat Oregon, the number one
- 1:45:47Speaker 6: team in the country, and smack them.
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually watched that one. I'll stick with the
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: Ohio State. Then I want to stick with Ohio State
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: this week, same, I.
- 1:45:58Speaker 6: Too, am gonna go with Ohio State. The Buckeyes. I
- 1:46:01Speaker 6: think they have the most roster talent in the entire
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: playoff and I think they're they're rolling now.
- 1:46:06Speaker 5: Based on what little knowledge I have, that team has
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: played the best in the playoffs. Both games they would dominate.
- 1:46:13Speaker 5: I think they continue Ohio State.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: Folks, this is your lack of the week. Ohio State
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: covers in this game.
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: So I need to put a little haster. All the
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: lower seeds, by the way, advanced in this playoffs five, six, seven,
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: eight right now? And if it's Ohio State's eight, yes,
- 1:46:37Speaker 5: so that would be the lower seed. Is Penn State
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: the lower seed? Or is Notre Dame?
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: I don't know, No, I think that's that's I think
- 1:46:43Speaker 6: Penn State is six if I'm not mistaking Texas five.
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: So Notre Dame is seven?
- 1:46:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I think six? Seven?
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: All right? All right?
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: Now, he might play football enough with the college we got,
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: we gotta hier. He got fourteen minutes for six games more.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: Oh In case anybody is wondering the over unders on
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: the the pre on the Pregame Show presented by Duncan. Yeah,
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: Paul sixty five and thirty seven, Matt fifty seven and
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: forty five, Mike fifty six and forty six, the six pack,
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: Paul fifty two, forty eight and two, and Matt and
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Mike tied at fifty one, forty nine and two.
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: Okay, so people, those numbers check out with mine two.
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: Paul correct, I'm stunned you have the right numbers. Thanks.
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: All right, let's move to the NFL Saturday thirty on
- 1:47:30Speaker 3: CBS Paramount Plus in Nickelodeon, it's the eleven channels.
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: The game on CBS CBS.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Oh, I like that.
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: We have the slime Zone.
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, watch that.
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I watched it.
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: I flipped it on just to see what it looks like.
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: I think they're cute.
- 1:47:49Speaker 13: They do the little novelty show.
- 1:47:51Speaker 4: Something like Smithers is Running down the Shoe.
- 1:47:54Speaker 16: Sweet.
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: Okay, what did you did you say? The game?
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: Yes, it's the Chargers eleven and six Chargers at the
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: ten and seven Texans.
- 1:48:03Speaker 5: The Chargers Road favorite, the Lack by three.
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: I'm gonna stick with that. I'm gonna take the Chargers,
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: you know, I just I don't think without tanked Dell,
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: it seems like they kind of collapse a little bit.
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: And I just again biased of seeing a team here
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: live take it to the Patriots. So are the Chargers
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: really that good? I don't know, but they both did that,
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: oh fair enough, but you know, read more recently. More
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: recently we saw the Chargers. So I'm gonna take Justin
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: Herbert on the road, and uh, I think that's that'd
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: be nice win for them, go on the road and
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: pick that up. So I'm gonna go with them all
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: lay the points Chargers.
- 1:48:38Speaker 6: Chargers. Yeah, I'm on the Chargers too.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: I did that.
- 1:48:42Speaker 6: Texans team just hasn't really been right all year long,
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: so you Jay Stroud's had a rough year, you know,
- 1:48:48Speaker 6: relatively speaking, and I just think the Chargers are playing
- 1:48:51Speaker 6: better and are a better team right now. Chargers.
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I worry when it's like that, and it's like,
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: you know, the road team's favorite. Everybody's on the road team.
- 1:49:01Speaker 5: You know what happens. But I'm gonna take the Lack.
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: Yeah, me too, Lack eight o'clock Saturday night on Prime Video.
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: So that's the one I can't watch all.
- 1:49:11Speaker 3: Right, ten and seven Steelers at the twelve and five Ravens.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: We got an early report that Zave Flowers might be out,
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: so he is out.
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: Yeah, John Harbaugh confirming today after practice, No Ja Flowers.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: The Ravens by nine and half. Wow, that's a big.
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: Spread, big spread. No respect for the Steelers, no respect.
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: I mean the injury day they Flowers is huge. Another
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: thing I didn't really like. I heard Lamar talking a
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: little bit about how he just needs to learn how
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: to calm down in playoff games and he gets antsy.
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:49:41Speaker 4: I didn't love hearing that from him. Like, I didn't realize,
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: you know, it's not a big deal, dude, you're really good.
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: Just play. But but I just don't think the Steelers
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: have enough. I'm gonna take the Ravens to win, but
- 1:49:49Speaker 4: I'll take the points. I just think these two teams
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: know each other well and it's always tough.
- 1:49:54Speaker 6: I feel the same way. Yeah, I'm splitting it. Yeah,
- 1:49:56Speaker 6: I'm with Deuce. I actually remember Brady saying that about
- 1:50:00Speaker 6: Super Bowls. You know, the Patriots always notoriously started terribly
- 1:50:03Speaker 6: in Super Bowls, and he said he was so amped
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: up coming out that it would you know, almost be
- 1:50:08Speaker 6: a deterrent. But I'm going to take the Ravens. I
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: think they they end up pulling away in this game.
- 1:50:12Speaker 6: But I'm going to take Pittsburgh to cover in a
- 1:50:14Speaker 6: divisional three times, right, three times?
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Just beat them, you know, like Ravens just got that
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: monkey off their back and now they got to do
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: it again.
- 1:50:21Speaker 5: I think they're going to blow them out. I'm gonna
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: take the Ravens both ways. I just think Pittsburgh trending
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: in the wrong direction. I think they've sort of figured
- 1:50:27Speaker 5: out the whole Russell Wilson just throw it up in
- 1:50:29Speaker 5: hope thing. Pickens did have a big drop in that
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: Cincinnati game that I wouldn't necessarily expect. But I think
- 1:50:38Speaker 5: that's their only means to make any plays is throwing
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: bombs to to George Pickens. I'll take Baltimore. Yeah.
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: In tout World or Sharp World, Raven's getting eight. They
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: call these playoff points just so you know, okay, and
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: so uh yeah, Ravens Ravens cover in this game.
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: It's gonna be a good feature when you get that
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: finally together. The Fred kurshutes.
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: The playoff points.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: Gambling parlance.
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: All right, that's the Saturday lineup. Now we move to
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: Sunday one o'clock CBS, and again Paramount plus the ten
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: and seven Broncos at the thirteen and four.
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: Bills, Buffalo by eight and a half. Don't forget some
- 1:51:35Speaker 5: of those are playoff.
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: Points, but I don't know that's something I appreciate it. Yeah,
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: good you point that out. I forgot about that.
- 1:51:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: I got to pick the Bills to win, and I just,
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: you know, I feel like the Broncos are playing a
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: little bit with house money right now, like that good season.
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: They got a rookie quarterback. They didn't, you know, really
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: expect to be in this position. I think they might
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: try to cut it loose, but as I'm talking here,
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna lay the points. I just think I've seen
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: Buffalo blow out a team in the in this round
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: up there before, and I think they do it.
- 1:52:01Speaker 6: Oh really have you?
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: Yeah? What team was that? Patriots?
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:52:06Speaker 6: I'm going Buffalo, Buffalo doesn't. This game kind of feels
- 1:52:11Speaker 6: like that game. Now, the Broncos probably won't have half
- 1:52:13Speaker 6: their secondary out because of COVID, but it feels a
- 1:52:16Speaker 6: little bit like that game. Rookie quarterback ten and seven,
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: you know, go on a wild card run Bills. Bills.
- 1:52:21Speaker 6: They don't punt times too.
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: I will take Buffalo to win the game, and I
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: think they'll win it fairly easily. But I'm going to
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: take the points. I think Denver might have some offense
- 1:52:34Speaker 5: early in the game, and I think the Broncos defense
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: is pretty good. I think certain Yeah, it was legit.
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: Do we have a weather report for this game? Oh?
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: I don't know. That's no one knows. No one in
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: the world probably should have asked that question. But I'm
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: gonna take Buffalo to win. I'll take the no one knows.
- 1:52:53Speaker 6: If only there were people that job it was to
- 1:52:56Speaker 6: tell us the weather. It says that right now. Just
- 1:52:59Speaker 6: his twenty nine degrees and cloudy.
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: So no, okay, no normal. Yeah, I'm gonna go with
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: the Bills. But I'm with Paul. I think the Broncos
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: cover Stevie Nicks does enough in the first half, and
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: well there you go the Bills. Yep, get it again.
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: Fleetwood person like Fleetwood, I mean, forget about it.
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: You know eleven Steve was Fleetwood Mac.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53:28Speaker 13: The one Wing Dove song.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: Oh, she's like a wing seventeen.
- 1:53:33Speaker 6: Yes, that's the lyrics.
- 1:53:37Speaker 3: All right. On Sunday four thirty on Fox and Fox Deportes,
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: the eleven and six Packers are at the fourteen and
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: three Eagles.
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: Philly by four and a half. Perts.
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: Looks good, looks good.
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: Both quarterbacks at the well below one hundred percent.
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: Yeah, in that case, I gotta I gotta go with
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: Philly at home. You know, I like what the Packers
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: did this year. I still think there are maybe a
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: year or two off, but I'll go with Philly at home.
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: I'll lay the points.
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: Philly, Philly. This is my favorite game. I think of
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: the entire Wildcard round, this would be a good one.
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: I'm gonna take the Eagles. I just I know why
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: I trust the Packers so much. But I do trust
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: the Packers, So I'm gonna say that they covered Eagles
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: by a field goal.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I I I think Philly will win the game
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: because green Bay is playing a good team in generally
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: they lose. But I don't trust Philly, so I'm gonna
- 1:54:32Speaker 5: take the points. I don't trust them to play as
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: well as they normally have. I think they'll be close enough.
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: I'm with Evan, there always has well that doesn't have
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: to be an upset, but often there is, and I
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: think this is one. I think the Packers go on
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: the road and they beat the Eagles to the dismay
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: of the Philly fans, and uh, it's going to be
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: the upset of the weekend.
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: Can I put that down?
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: The lock? No, not a lock? Listen, No, in all seriousness,
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: I need to be responsible with my locks. If I'm not,
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: I don't get serious.
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: You don't go three and six by just really throwing
- 1:55:07Speaker 5: locks out there.
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: But we have to.
- 1:55:09Speaker 7: We have to have two columns, one just normal every time.
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: You need two.
- 1:55:14Speaker 13: Columns, one his regular upsets that aren't locks, and then
- 1:55:17Speaker 13: his locks, and you need to see which perform right.
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: I know that a lot of people take my words
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: and bet the you know, college tuition on it. I want,
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: I need to be responsible about it. So I'm not
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: locking this one, but I'm calling for the upset.
- 1:55:31Speaker 5: That is good of you. It is, don't you think responsible?
- 1:55:35Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:55:35Speaker 5: Good word.
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: At eight o'clock on Sunday night, NBC Peacock Universal telexitos
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: like they already put Peacock in there for the first time.
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: Twelve and five commanders at the ten and seven Baker
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: led Buccaneers.
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: Fire the Cannons, fire the Canons, Bucks by three.
- 1:55:53Speaker 6: I'm surprised.
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: It's a tough game. That's a tough game.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: Surprised the Bucks are favorite, I am.
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:55:58Speaker 6: Yeah, the game against the Saints last week. They needed
- 1:56:01Speaker 6: that game, and it's.
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: Just so up and down, like they scored like forty
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: five points one week and then.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: The next had a lot of injuries on defense, especially
- 1:56:08Speaker 5: in the secondary.
- 1:56:09Speaker 4: That's why I'm gonna go to Washington. Just think too
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: many banks, too many injuries, and yeah, there's just unreliable.
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: I don't think it's impossible, but I'll take I'll take Washington.
- 1:56:18Speaker 13: Yeah, Washington Road upset.
- 1:56:20Speaker 6: I'm taking Washington as well. I just think the Buccaneers
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: are really streaky. I think they're inconsistent, and I think
- 1:56:26Speaker 6: the commanders are feeling the mojo there with Jaden Daniels.
- 1:56:30Speaker 6: They got something brewing there in Washington.
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: I was all on Washington and now everybody else is,
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: so yeah, taking Washington.
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: So would you say that the Rookie of the Year
- 1:56:41Speaker 3: is down between Jade and Daniels and Brock Bowers.
- 1:56:44Speaker 6: I think it's over.
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't really think it's between Daniels Daniels.
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: Yeah, brock Bowers had a pretty good year.
- 1:56:49Speaker 5: Great year, hell, finished second great year for a team
- 1:56:52Speaker 5: that won four games, and yeah whatever, Well.
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: Doesn't that even make him even better that he was able.
- 1:56:58Speaker 5: To have that plastic stats?
- 1:56:59Speaker 3: Plastic? Why are they?
- 1:57:01Speaker 5: He's a good player, but like, come.
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: On, so he didn't have to catch those balls? Yeah
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: that's not real.
- 1:57:10Speaker 5: Where's my one again? I mean, jayde Daniels won twelve
- 1:57:15Speaker 5: games as a rookie quarterback. You don't think that's much
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: more impressive than catching one hundred and ten balls. That's
- 1:57:21Speaker 5: why someone's got to catch the ball.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Okay, good stats team, right, Okay, the basketball anyway, This
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: is a tough one. I would want, I really really
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: really want to pick the Buccaneers, but I just don't.
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: I don't trust them. I got to go with the Commanders.
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, so that's one we all lost. There's no
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: way we're all going to be right with an s.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: Yep, yeah we are. What kind of spirit is that Monday?
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: Monday Night? Should they have a Monday night game.
- 1:57:51Speaker 5: And a w during I don't think so, but this
- 1:57:53Speaker 5: is the league that we're in.
- 1:57:54Speaker 6: Hell, But what is there to do on Monday.
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it's not about us. It's about the team
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: that has to play on Monday and then have the
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: short week compared to.
- 1:58:01Speaker 5: All the other teams that they'll play on Sunday the
- 1:58:03Speaker 5: next week. All right, Yeah, I know it's about me.
- 1:58:05Speaker 6: It's my viewing.
- 1:58:06Speaker 3: I guess it's Sunday night. Guys have to play on Saturday. Yeah,
- 1:58:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:58:11Speaker 5: Anyway, short week for somebody.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: Monday night, eight o'clock, ESPN, ABC, ESPN two, ESPN plus
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: ESPN Deportes. The fourteen is three in Vikings are at
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: the ten and seven.
- 1:58:23Speaker 5: Rams Minnesota by one and a half.
- 1:58:27Speaker 4: Yeah. I was watching the NFL Network had the game
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: they played this year on. It was tightly contested. That's
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: just as hard as Sam Donald. That guy. Is he
- 1:58:35Speaker 4: the one who played great of the whole season or
- 1:58:37Speaker 4: is he the guy that had a down week last week? Ever,
- 1:58:39Speaker 4: everyone was excited about him. You know, I'm gonna go
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: with it. I'm gonna go with the Rams at home.
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with the Rams at home. I just
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: think Sam Donald is Sam Donald, and he's not gonna
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: be able to get it done.
- 1:58:52Speaker 13: Along the similar lines, I'm gonna pick the Rams too.
- 1:58:56Speaker 13: I know like a lot of LA people aren't huge
- 1:58:58Speaker 13: Rams fans, but there's something about the fires and natural
- 1:59:03Speaker 13: disasters tend to rally sports teams.
- 1:59:05Speaker 4: So the question is, though there any Rams fans that
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: I live in LA that are actually a regular I.
- 1:59:11Speaker 5: Wonder if it could help them if they ended up
- 1:59:12Speaker 5: playing in Arizona neutral site.
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Minnesota. I just
- 1:59:18Speaker 6: feel like, I don't know, I feel like they've been
- 1:59:21Speaker 6: disrespected all year long. People didn't think that they to
- 1:59:25Speaker 6: that big game, and they I hear you, you know,
- 1:59:27Speaker 6: I hear you. I picked them last week too, and
- 1:59:29Speaker 6: I was wrong. But I just I don't know if
- 1:59:32Speaker 6: something tells me that the Minnesota gets this, gets this
- 1:59:35Speaker 6: one win done. I don't know if they're gonna go
- 1:59:37Speaker 6: much further than this, but I I feel like they're
- 1:59:39Speaker 6: gonna really play hard to not look like a joke.
- 1:59:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I think Evan's right about the disrespect that Minnesota
- 1:59:47Speaker 5: has gotten all year. I guess I'm gonna pile on.
- 1:59:50Speaker 5: I'm gonna take the lar. You guys know, I'm gonna.
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: I Like Matthew Stafford, this is a little bit of
- 1:59:54Speaker 5: a heart pick for me, I like, I like the Rams,
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: and I think that they'll get it done at home.
- 2:00:00Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:00:00Speaker 3: Another tough one.
- 2:00:02Speaker 5: Tough yeah, good one.
- 2:00:03Speaker 3: I mean really, what was Sam Darnell last week? Is
- 2:00:07Speaker 3: that who he is in the big games and that's
- 2:00:09Speaker 3: why he's never gonna be an elite quarterback? Tough one.
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: Flores's defense started out okay, but you know, the Lions
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: ran all over it last week. So I don't know's
- 2:00:24Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm hurry, I'm gonna stick. I'm gonna stick
- 2:00:27Speaker 3: with the Vikings. I'm gonna go with the Vikings. Yeah,
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: we're all kind of we'll split on it. Yeah.
- 2:00:34Speaker 5: So that's the games.
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: We'll see what happens next week. That's the show.
