- 0:57Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, everyone.
- 0:59Dayna Roselli: It's Dana Roselli along with Sean McAllister.
- 1:02Dayna Roselli: And boy, we have a bunch of topics to get to today.
- 1:05Dayna Roselli: A long, long list.
- 1:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, and first we just want to say a big thank you to everyone who listens to us, especially on the Good Pods platform, because Dana, we just jumped up to the top of the travel podcast list.
- 1:19Dayna Roselli: We did.
- 1:20Dayna Roselli: We are the number one indie travel podcast of the month.
- 1:25Dayna Roselli: And then I think overall we are in seventh for the month.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: So thanks.
- 1:31Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 1:31Sean McAllister: So thank you for everyone who listens, who shares, who comments, who uh give ratings.
- 1:38Sean McAllister: We appreciate it.
- 1:39Sean McAllister: Big time.
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: And we always say it's all about our consistency, right?
- 1:42Dayna Roselli: We've been doing this since 2020 and we do it every single week.
- 1:45Dayna Roselli: So we're we're proud to see how far we've come and we keep landing on these lists.
- 1:50Sean McAllister: We are.
- 1:50Sean McAllister: So we just put that badge out on our social media channels.
- 1:53Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, we went to a press conference at the sphere.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: I'm sure you've seen the video all over.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: I mean, you can't miss it.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: It's the wicked witch of the east, her legs, her ruby slippers coming out from underneath the sphere.
- 2:09Dayna Roselli: Yes, the Wizard of Oz at Sphere tickets are finally on sale.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: We told you all about this, that it was coming, and people have been hitting us up every week.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: When are tickets on sale?
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: When are tickets on sale?
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: Well, they are, and now you can purchase them and get there.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: And apparently people say it's gonna be incredible.
- 2:30Sean McAllister: Absolutely incredible.
- 2:31Sean McAllister: We went to a preview uh during the Google Next conference.
- 2:35Sean McAllister: That's when uh the very first footage of this uh new expanded version of the Wizard of Oz uh was uh first premiered.
- 2:45Sean McAllister: And the footage that we saw was absolutely incredible.
- 2:48Sean McAllister: Uh Google is using AI uh to kind of uh build out the Wizard of Oz from what you know in the original frame.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: They used AI to build it out, build out the movie to fit the screen inside the sphere.
- 3:05Sean McAllister: And to celebrate the fact that the Wizard of Oz is premiering August 28th and the tickets are now on sale.
- 3:12Sean McAllister: You mentioned Dana.
- 3:14Sean McAllister: Now there's 50-foot witch legs that are coming out from underneath the sphere.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: I know, and there's actually times that you can go take pictures with that.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: So I've already seen people out there.
- 3:23Dayna Roselli: You go to uh the sphere's website, and not only do they have show times for the Wizard of Oz, but also show times for the legs.
- 3:32Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 3:33Sean McAllister: Because they put the Wizard of Oz uh imagery on the exosphere.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: So if you're going to take a picture, you want the whole, you want the whole deal.
- 3:42Sean McAllister: And they have really uh it's a cute idea.
- 3:45Sean McAllister: They have uh yellow brick road uh selfie spots.
- 3:49Sean McAllister: There's like these decals on the ground where it's like the perfect place to snap a selfie with those 22-foot ruby slippers right behind you.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: So cool.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: Real people um were DMing me going, wait a minute, that's real.
- 4:04Dayna Roselli: I thought it was AI.
- 4:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I'm like, no, no, it's real.
- 4:07Sean McAllister: This is real.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: Those 50-foot legs, 22-foot slippers.
- 4:11Sean McAllister: It looks like the sphere just plunked right down on top of the witch like Dorothy's house did in the movie.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: And it's really cool when they actually have the house up on the sphere because it looks legit.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: Like the house landed on the legs.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: Um, so others have asked us like, is this like a week or is this like, no, it it it goes on and on.
- 4:31Dayna Roselli: So the showtime, so postcard from Earth is there now, and this will replace that, I'm assuming.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: Didn't really get clarity on that, but postcard from Earth, I think, is done the 27th.
- 4:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know that they're uh building out an entire uh library of content for for sphere.
- 4:50Sean McAllister: So, you know, this Wizard of Oz is just going to be added to uh what they have in their in their bank of of content, which is exciting.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 5:01Dayna Roselli: I mean, if you go on, you know, ticket, you'll go to the sphere, it'll bring you to Ticketmaster, but I mean it just keeps going and going and going like through September.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's just continuous.
- 5:10Dayna Roselli: So if you're worried, I need to get tickets because I won't have time to get there, it's a rush because they're probably gonna sell really fast, but there's a lot of room in there, and they this is on the calendar for when I click on the Wizard of Oz, it says there are 451 events.
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: So it just keeps going and going through the year.
- 5:31Sean McAllister: And this Wizard of Oz uh experience, I guess is what we can call it, because there's going to be obviously sights, there's going to be smells, there's going to be feels, your your chair shakes, there's going to be wind.
- 5:47Sean McAllister: The tornado scene, we're told that there are going to be uh extra special effects that take place inside of sphere while that scene is taking place as well.
- 6:00Sean McAllister: We don't know the specifics about that yet.
- 6:02Sean McAllister: The creators that we talked to wanted to keep that under wraps and have it be a big surprise.
- 6:06Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: We talked to Bill Walsh of The Sphere, and he was saying it's also going to be very emotional.
- 6:12SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: Because it's, well, larger than life.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: It's, you know, it's already a film that, you know, has a lot of heart.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: And so seeing it like this, experiencing, like you said, the feels and all that, it's it should be a pretty emotional experience.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: And and they're telling us it's not like going to see a movie, it's like going to be in a movie.
- 6:36Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: Immersive.
- 6:37Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: I was browsing at some of the times.
- 6:40Dayna Roselli: So like on the weekends, there are 10 a.m.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: show times.
- 6:43Dayna Roselli: So this is kind of cool.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: And Sundays, uh, there's an 11 a.m.
- 6:47Dayna Roselli: Sunday, there's a 2 p.m., Sunday there's a 5 p.m.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: I'm just I was browsing through, I just landed on October 5th.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: But um, so there's all sorts of different times.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: October 6th, on a Monday, there's an 8 p.m.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: This it really like is the availability for it and to fit your schedule and to come in and if you want to see it once, maybe you're gonna want to see it again.
- 7:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, I love that.
- 7:08Sean McAllister: I love the morning times though.
- 7:10Sean McAllister: Yeah, especially on weekends, you can go have brunch with Dorothy.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: And then Wizard of Oz will move out and the Backstreet Boys will move in.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: Right, exactly.
- 7:19SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 7:20Dayna Roselli: So a lot going on over there at Sphere.
- 7:22Dayna Roselli: So we're excited that this is finally announced and now people can start getting their tickets, and we will be at the premiere on August 28th.
- 7:30Sean McAllister: Yes, we will.
- 7:30Sean McAllister: We're looking forward to it.
- 7:31Sean McAllister: It's been marked on our calendar for a while now.
- 7:34Sean McAllister: Hey, we wanted to touch on a headline that you probably have seen coming out of Las Vegas.
- 7:40Sean McAllister: Uh, there was a a deadly shooting that happened in front of the Bellagio Fountains.
- 7:46Dayna Roselli: Yes, and it was, you know, this story is so tragic.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: I don't want to get into the names and the major specifics, but apparently two live streamers that have been competitive.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: It's uh horrible because I've if you know anything about it, you and if you were on social media, you may have seen some of the videos that all happened while a live stream was going on.
- 8:08Dayna Roselli: Regardless, a lot of people, you know, I'm sure Sean were texting you the next day.
- 8:13Dayna Roselli: I was getting a lot of texts, like, are you okay?
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: What happened?
- 8:15Dayna Roselli: You know, people from around the country, friends, family, things like that.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: I'm like, you know, it was a very uh, I don't know if I want to say contained because it was on a public sidewalk, right in front of a major tourist destination.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: But it was targeted.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: Targeted.
- 8:30Dayna Roselli: Uh so uh one person has been arrested and two people are dead.
- 8:37Dayna Roselli: And it's just makes me so sad.
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: It's awful.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: And if it's true, the pettiness behind the reason for this is just it's so much disregard for life, people who were watching.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's traumatizing.
- 8:51Dayna Roselli: Everything is just awful about it.
- 8:53Sean McAllister: It is, and I think what you touched on the fact that this was a a a what appears to be a very targeted uh situation, but to do first of all, to do something like this is just uh inexcusable to to begin with, but uh to do it in such a public place where there's so much potential for like other uh people to be involved and become victims.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: It's the entire thing from uh top to bottom is just it's awful.
- 9:29Dayna Roselli: And and and even just thinking about because it in the live stream, a a little clip that I saw, you see people like sheltering their kids and it's just horrible.
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: It did happen late at night.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: I don't want to say kids' kids, but like, you know, family or maybe teenager.
- 9:44Sean McAllister: But there are people who still have kids out on the strip late at night.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: It's true, it's true.
- 9:48Dayna Roselli: It's uh I think this happened about 11 o'clock.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: We had just gotten back from a shoot, actually at the South Point, and um was putting some stuff on social media, and that's when I happened to see it happen or see see it appear on social media, alert to it.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Um, police responded very quick, uh, quickly, and this person um who did, you know, uh is responsible for the shooting allegedly, um, turned himself in the next morning, I think it was.
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: He's already had a court appearance claiming self-defense, but then apparently they showed according to one of our news sources, channel eight, they said like they showed him the video.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: Like, do you know this was like live streamed and here you are, like pulling out a gun, and then apparently called for an attorney.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: And so I don't know, not much to stand on there.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: And I feel really, really sad for the two uh, I guess husband and wife couple that were were killed during this.
- 10:39Dayna Roselli: Just awful all around.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: But um, you know, Las Vegas that they that is addressed, uh, everything is back to normal, and um, you know, the strip is open as usual.
- 10:50Dayna Roselli: Um, but we'll keep you posted on that.
- 10:51Dayna Roselli: Just really sad.
- 10:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, but just to put uh uh a point on it, um even though you may have seen the headline, the strip is not uh really a dangerous place.
- 11:04Sean McAllister: I mean, there's a police presence out there all the time, the police responded quickly and um you know Yeah.
- 11:12Dayna Roselli: Well, we talked about that in a recent podcast about how we were saying, you know, even Fremont Street with all the people there downtown and how we were recently, you know, at the 120th birthday, and they were talking about they have the best security.
- 11:24Dayna Roselli: Because if you think about the masses of people on the strip, you think about the masses of people at s at Fremont Street.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: I mean, we are a top tourist destination, and overall, we don't have a lot of major in incidents.
- 11:37Dayna Roselli: I want to keep it that way, and but you know, sadly, things do happen.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: You know what?
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: Overall, we do have actually really fantastic uh police presence and security up and down the strip.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: Hey, we got a message from one of our listeners, Teresa.
- 11:54Dayna Roselli: She DM'd us on Instagram and, you know, just wanted to offer us some insight.
- 12:00Dayna Roselli: She was listening to one of our podcasts about visitation and stuff, and she was saying that she's a big uh slot player.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: And she was saying that uh she just wanted to let us know that there are a lot of changes with comps and stuff, and that's really impacted things, uh, is not stopping her from coming back to Las Vegas.
- 12:19Dayna Roselli: She said um our podcast really helped her arrange her next visit on July 24th.
- 12:24Dayna Roselli: She's staying at Fountain Blue and her children, adult children, are staying over at Venetian and she's looking forward to it.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: But uh I've always mentioned before rewards and and gambling and all that.
- 12:37Dayna Roselli: I'm not a big gambler, so I don't necessarily know how the comps work, you know, to a T, but she says that the rewards there are like less rewards than there used to be.
- 12:48Sean McAllister: Right.
- 12:49Sean McAllister: Yes, yeah.
- 12:50Sean McAllister: And uh like you, I am not a a huge gambler.
- 12:55Sean McAllister: If I'm down on the strip, I might play some slots, but not enough to really, you know, get any rewards or perks off of it.
- 13:03Sean McAllister: Um, but yeah, I mean we've just recently we saw Fountain Blue, you know, changing their rewards program.
- 13:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and and apparently it's like really good.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: I mentioned that to her and she said, Well, that's where we're staying because of that.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: So I was like, okay, great.
- 13:19Dayna Roselli: Well, let us know how it is.
- 13:20Dayna Roselli: So we look forward to a follow-up from Teresa.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 13:23Sean McAllister: And uh didn't I think she mentioned that she comes into town several times a year.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so we love that.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: She mentioned she's going to Komodo, and I said, get the beef jerky.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: It's really good over there.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: Um, WrestleMania's coming back.
- 13:38Dayna Roselli: We kind of called it.
- 13:39Dayna Roselli: We did a lot of coverage last year saying we had never been.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: We went to WrestleMania 41.
- 13:43Dayna Roselli: We had a blast, and look at this WrestleMania 42 coming back.
- 13:47Dayna Roselli: Can you believe it?
- 13:48Sean McAllister: Look at that.
- 13:49Sean McAllister: Just in April, within the course of the last couple months, they said, you know what?
- 13:54Sean McAllister: The first, well, the first Vegas WrestleMania in a really long time was such a smashing success.
- 14:01Sean McAllister: We've got to come back.
- 14:02Sean McAllister: It set all sorts of revenue records, viewership, the whole thing.
- 14:08Sean McAllister: It was just uh clearly it was uh results that made them say, you know what, we just need to go back.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: Because it was so good.
- 14:19Dayna Roselli: It was 124,693 fans over two nights at Allegiant Stadium.
- 14:25Dayna Roselli: And then they had all the other events.
- 14:27Sean McAllister: And by the way, Mobile and Yeah, I think we mentioned it as we were covering WrestleMania uh, you know, in April.
- 14:35Sean McAllister: The fans were great.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 14:37Sean McAllister: This is a good collection of people, and uh we absolutely welcome them back.
- 14:43Dayna Roselli: They were like rowdy fun, but not like rowdy chaotic.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 14:47Dayna Roselli: It was just felt like I don't want to say peaceful because it was still fun and it was WrestleMania, but it was just, I don't know.
- 14:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, like they were just cool.
- 14:54Sean McAllister: There were good vibes.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: Yes, good vibes.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: Uh it's coming back if you want the dates.
- 14:59Dayna Roselli: Let's see, Saturday, April 18th, and Sunday, April 19th.
- 15:04Dayna Roselli: Now, this year it was that landed on Easter.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: Let's see, October, November.
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: I'm going way ahead.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: Let's see, April 19th.
- 15:13Dayna Roselli: Nope.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Okay, so Easter is when do oh Easter's April 5th this year.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: Oh, so it's an early Easter.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: So April 19th.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: So that'll be fun.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: Looking forward to that.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: We're the best when we host events.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: We just have everything going for us because there's lots of fun to be had before, after, all around.
- 15:30Sean McAllister: Yeah, WWE World, you know, setup shop at the convention center.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: So no doubt uh we'll we'll be seeing another week of experiences leading up to uh WrestleMania 42 coming back.
- 15:46Sean McAllister: We love it.
- 15:47Dayna Roselli: And the Hall of Excellence is opening soon.
- 15:50Dayna Roselli: This sounds like it's gonna be, I feel like a hit.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: It is opening at Fountain Blue.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: We've kind of known this was coming and excited for the announcement.
- 15:59Dayna Roselli: Uh, it opens officially on June 20th.
- 16:02Dayna Roselli: So, what's the Hall of Excellence?
- 16:03Dayna Roselli: Well, it's actually a museum that is full.
- 16:07Dayna Roselli: It's it's gonna be a self-guided tour, by the way, uh narrated by Morgan Freeman.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: So that's a big deal.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: But it's gonna going to include sports and entertainment memorabilia.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: And it's a partnership with Tom Brady, the Fountain Blue, and sports casting legend Jim Gray.
- 16:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, and what's different from some of the this is definitely different from maybe some of the other sports memorabilia places that you may have gone before.
- 16:35Sean McAllister: Because in addition to having like seven of Tom Brady's Super Bowl rings, uh Kobe Bryant's the jersey that he wore in his first nationally televised basketball game.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: From 1996.
- 16:49Sean McAllister: There's also uh things from Oprah Winfrey, like her Presidential Medal of Freedom and her Tony Award for the color purple.
- 16:59Sean McAllister: I mean, there's cool stuff.
- 17:01Sean McAllister: When when we were looking at this list, I was like, oh my gosh, I would never have even imagined that this stuff would uh be in a museum somewhere, but it is so culturally significant.
- 17:13Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 17:14Sean McAllister: It's cool that it is, and it's cool that it's here in Vegas.
- 17:17Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:17Dayna Roselli: There's a really long list of great stuff.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Uh a golf ball used by Tiger Woods during his first master's victory in 1997, Billie Jean King's iconic tennis dress from 1974.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: Man, golf balls and baseball signed by U.S.
- 17:33Dayna Roselli: presidents dating back to Woodrow Wilson.
- 17:36unknown: Jeez.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: But I guess, Sean, to your point, yeah, you if you're Tom Brady and Jim Gray, you say, hey, give it up.
- 17:43Dayna Roselli: We're opening a museum, and people are like, all right.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: Right.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: So you know what always amazes me about some of this stuff, especially like a golf ball that Woodrow Wilson used or the Billie Jean King's dress from, you know, back in the 70s.
- 18:01Sean McAllister: I always wonder, like, how do people have the foresight to hang on to this stuff?
- 18:08Sean McAllister: And I actually just had a conversation with my mother about this the other day because she's cleaning out a whole bunch of stuff that she's held on to for years at their house.
- 18:17Sean McAllister: And I said, you know what, mom, just get rid of it, toss it in a dumpster.
- 18:23Sean McAllister: Like, there's not going to be a Sean McAllister wing in any museum ever.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: Self-guided tour by Morgan Freeman.
- 18:31Sean McAllister: And yeah, she was like, Well, you don't ever know that.
- 18:33Sean McAllister: I said, Well, you're right.
- 18:35Sean McAllister: I don't know, but I've got a pretty strong hunch.
- 18:38Sean McAllister: But you know, I wonder if any of these people ever had that thought, too.
- 18:41Sean McAllister: Like, this is insignificant.
- 18:43Sean McAllister: No one's ever gonna want to see the dress I wore in that tennis match from 40, 50 years ago.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: Who knows?
- 18:51Sean McAllister: Who knows?
- 18:51Sean McAllister: And now look at.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: I know you'll look at it.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: So this is gonna be cool.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: Um, we have a little video uh that we got and it just shows some of the highlights.
- 19:02Dayna Roselli: It just looks really nice.
- 19:04Dayna Roselli: So details still rolling out, but it seems like it's gonna be great.
- 19:07Dayna Roselli: And I was just trying to click on the tickets because I remember when I browsed, it's very affordable to go through this.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: Um and I was trying to find the ticket price.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: I want to say it was like 38 bucks.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: Okay, I'm clicking in.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: Hold on, hold on, buy tickets.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: Because I know people do like to know the price of things.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: Um But and by the way, there's a big pref press conference happening.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Uh Sean and I are gonna be out of town, but I'm sure Tom Brady and Jim Gray and the head of Fountain Blue will be there too.
- 19:40Dayna Roselli: Um okay, so I'm clicking.
- 19:42Dayna Roselli: There's all different times.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: You add to the cart.
- 19:46Sean McAllister: Add to the cart, the whole adding the cart.
- 19:49Sean McAllister: This is the pro this is the ticket process in real time.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: I'm picking 1015 on June 20th to go in on opening day.
- 19:59Sean McAllister: For the self-guided tour.
- 20:01Sean McAllister: Come on, Wi-Fi.
- 20:02Sean McAllister: Excellence memory.
- 20:03Sean McAllister: $35.
- 20:04Sean McAllister: $35.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: You love that?
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: I do love it.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: I think that's a good price.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: I do.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: I think that's a great price.
- 20:11Dayna Roselli: So it should be pretty cool.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: We'll find out more, obviously, uh, when we hear from them.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: But right now, I mean, I think I think this is a cool addition and something different in Las Vegas.
- 20:21Sean McAllister: Totally different.
- 20:22Sean McAllister: This is a really, really cool thing.
- 20:24Sean McAllister: Let's turn now to a couple of Las Vegas legends.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: Uh, Danny Gans, who you may know, he was a longtime headliner at the Mirage, then moved over to the Encore.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: Uh, we've got details about a new documentary uh about his life and career.
- 20:41Sean McAllister: But first, to Frankie Shinta.
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: Frankie Shinta has been performing in Las Vegas for such a long time.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: You might know the Shintas.
- 20:49Dayna Roselli: If you, first of all, if you've visited Las Vegas, you'll you'll know the Shintas.
- 20:53SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 20:53Dayna Roselli: If not, also like if you've watched anything, like they've been on like telethons and lots of different live performances on TV back in the day.
- 21:02Dayna Roselli: Um, they do a lot of the festival circuit, you name it.
- 21:07Dayna Roselli: But the Shintas were at the Rio for a very long time and a couple other places.
- 21:11Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk to Frankie about that.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: But his brother actually passed away.
- 21:15Dayna Roselli: Um, it's been a little while now, but Frankie finally got on stage again.
- 21:19Dayna Roselli: He started doing the shows solo.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: And, you know, I'm really proud of him because it's difficult when you are singing with your family and you gotta go on your own.
- 21:29Dayna Roselli: But people have been going to Frankie's shows for so long.
- 21:33Dayna Roselli: He has so much charisma.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: He's a true showman.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: So I'm uh happy to see that he's really kind of spreading himself out.
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: He's he's been traveling, he's doing the summer festival circuit.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: Uh, we went over and saw him at the South Point where he's a regular.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: He's also doing the Italian American Club coming up.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: So we said, Frankie, can we meet you backstage and have a chat?
- 21:52Sean McAllister: And what we loved is that when we showed up and went backstage with Frankie, he it was like his whole family was there.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: His grandkids were there.
- 22:01Sean McAllister: His daughter was there.
- 22:02Sean McAllister: It was he was introducing us to all the band player, the band members.
- 22:07Sean McAllister: It was a family backstage at his show.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: It felt like Sunday dinner, right?
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: It did.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: And it was a Sunday.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: But we sat down with Frankie and talked to him just about, you know, what he's been up to and what it's been like for him doing these solo shows and how he brought his daughter daughter on stage to join him now, too.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: This gentleman, Frankie Shit.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: I've lived to perform, so being up there alone now is comfortable for me.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: And as the show gets on, I get more comfortable.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: The applause, the smiles, the laughter.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: I live for all of that.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: That's like a pure adrenaline.
- 22:48unknown: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: And it's great.
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, you're a true showman.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: Like to feel like that word.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: I didn't give it to me.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: My musical director did.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: He goes, Frank, you're a showman.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: I go, no, I'm just me.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: He goes, no, you do it all.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: You comedy, the music, you play instruments.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: He goes, you use it.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: And I did.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: And uh I I guess I am.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: I nobody does what I do anymore.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Vegas has changed so much that I travel.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: The showrooms that I played forever with the Shintas, but I miss my brother so bad.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: He was the funny one.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: I'm busy traveling.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: I got eight grandbabies.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: It's just a beautiful life.
- 23:27Dayna Roselli: It's a full life.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: It really is.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: We feed 10 to 12 people every night at my house.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: The kids call.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: They don't say, Are we eating here?
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: They go, What are we eating?
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:37Dayna Roselli: That's why you got to keep doing shows to feed the mouths.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: You started with the Shintas.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: You don't have to tell me the exact year if you don't remember.
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: 2000.
- 23:47Dayna Roselli: Oh, 2000.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: It was the Hilton and two friends out of Michigan, uh, one Sicilian, one Irish.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: Perfect team.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: They four-walled the room for us at the Hilton.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: Within six months, we got offers from four different casinos.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: The real gave us an offer we couldn't refuse.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: And that was it, man.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Almost seven years in our own showroom.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Then Vegas changed as it did.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And they wanted entertainers to pay to perform.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: And that did not work out.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: I don't like that.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Because I'm not a casino.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: I couldn't put a billboard up on the strip.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: I could put one, not like we had at the Rio.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: We had 20, you know, 50 cab tops.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: It was beautiful.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Remember, Clint Holmes was one place, Lance Burton, the Shintas.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: It was a great time for me.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: But you bend and you fold.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Then with the loss of my brother, um, that was it like somebody cut my legs out from under me.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: And I never wanted it to be me.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Never.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And it just God put me there and said, hey, buddy, it's you.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: So it took a while to be comfortable and not look right and see him.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: And but I'm okay.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: And I think I know that's what he would want me to do.
- 25:00SPEAKER_04: Now here until I got someone else.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: I thought that maybe I could find that.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: I've incorporated my daughter because of the live show we did on Facebook during COVID.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: She has become a singer, and she always said, I'm not a singer, I'm not a singer.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: She still says it, but she is.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Just a little.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: What?
- 25:21SPEAKER_05: I'm not that much of a professional dance.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: I've had other girls in the show, very talented girls, but it wasn't family.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: And that's the thing.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: I decided, it was like God said, no, it's working, but no, no.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: My daughter stepped on the stage and I go, she's breaking my orgas, just like my brother did.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And it's family.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: That's what family.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: Come on, you got family.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: That's what you do.
- 25:44SPEAKER_05: She's a TV blonde version.
- 25:46SPEAKER_05: Hello, I'm good.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: My kids are here.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: They're I better not disappoint them.
- 25:51Dayna Roselli: All right, and you can see Frankie Shinta at the Italian American Club on June 20th.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: Tickets are going quick, but that is also a blast.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Uh, I don't think it was in the piece, but it's a totally different thing than South Point.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: Oh, totally different.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: Like it gets a little off the rails.
- 26:05Dayna Roselli: It's it's super fun.
- 26:06Dayna Roselli: Your people are eating and drinking.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: And um yeah, he's just the best.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Uh, loved to see his daughter Danielle up on stage with him.
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: Proud of her because, like he said, she started singing when he was doing those Facebook lives, and then she thought, hey, you know, let me, let me, let me try this out.
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: And he said, come do it.
- 26:25Dayna Roselli: And she's like, okay.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: But great family, great people.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: So go check out Frankie.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, he has uh he will announce more dates at the South Point too.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: But like uh we mentioned, he's doing a bunch of festivals over the summer, and so he'll be doing some traveling.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: And by the way, if uh if you go to get tickets for Frankie's show at uh Italian American Club, and if by chance they're sold out, you may want to try and get a dinner reservation in the lounge because the show uh uh kind of spills over into the lounge afterwards and keeps going.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: Keeps going.
- 27:02Dayna Roselli: It's so much fun.
- 27:03Dayna Roselli: Oh man.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: You know, Frankie, we did talk to him a little bit about Danny Gans, who actually performed at the Rio before the Shintas took uh joined the Rio as well.
- 27:16Dayna Roselli: Danny had moved on to the Mirage, I think.
- 27:18Sean McAllister: The Mirage, yeah.
- 27:19Dayna Roselli: And if you don't know who Danny is, uh a great performer here in Las Vegas, one of our huge headliners for so many years, so talented, did great impressions.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: Um people just loved him.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: And then he was over at Mirage, and then over at the Encorn Wyn.
- 27:37Sean McAllister: Yeah, and uh Danny uh passed away in 2009, and now we have uh learned that a new documentary about uh Danny's life and career is coming out.
- 27:51Sean McAllister: It's premiering actually uh Friday, uh June 20th, in Hollywood at the legendary uh Chinese theater.
- 28:00Sean McAllister: It's part of a film festival there.
- 28:02Sean McAllister: Uh but the film uh the documentary is uh produced and directed by Danny's son Andrew.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: I know, and it just looks fantastic.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: We got an exclusive look at the trailer, it's actually running as a TV exclusive in our show that will be on Fox Five on Los uh in Las Vegas on Father's Day.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: It's at 8:30 P.M.
- 28:24Dayna Roselli: You can watch it there.
- 28:25Dayna Roselli: After that, we will put it on our YouTube page.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: Um we saw a lot of people we we know in the the trailer uh uh Donnie Osmond, uh Louie Anderson, the late Louis Anderson, even the late Norm Clark, entertainment columnist here.
- 28:41Dayna Roselli: Um and uh we were honored to be able to see that ahead of time, and we were honored to be able to talk to Andrew about his dad.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: I mean, Danny Gans died way too young, I think it was 52 years old, and it was a huge loss in Las Vegas.
- 28:54Dayna Roselli: I know both of us were in the news business at the time.
- 28:57Dayna Roselli: You were working at Fox Five, I was working at uh Channel 8, and I remember that news coming in, and everyone's just their jaws dropped.
- 29:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was shocking because uh Danny Gans, I mean, he was a mainstay in Las Vegas for well over a a decade, close to 15 years.
- 29:15Sean McAllister: He was just like one of the go-to entertainers that everybody talked about.
- 29:20Sean McAllister: He uh won the awards for like best entertainer in Las Vegas, and so that was that was a big shock.
- 29:27Sean McAllister: Uh, but we did, as you mentioned, Dana, talk with Danny's son Andrew about his experience uh producing and directing this film about his dad.
- 29:38Sean McAllister: And even why he wanted to do it.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Well, that's a good question.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Well, I decided to start making this film, it was right around the 10th anniversary of his passing.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: And I had had this feeling inside of me for a long time that he he never got the recognition that I felt like he deserved.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: And he he didn't he wasn't remembered in the way I felt he deserved.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: And so I wanted to do something that would bring attention to how talented and incredible he is, and he was, and the accomplishments that he had in Las Vegas.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: And so slowly but surely I decided to start putting this film together.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, here we are now, almost four years later, and it's it's been a transformative experience, and it's turned in from it's turned from wanting to make a film about my dad to honor his life and accomplishments to something where I'm in the film, I directed the film, and it's follows my journey telling his story.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: And during the making of the film, um, I became a father myself for the first time.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: And it's just been a very it's a blessing to have gone through this experience, and I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to do it.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: This documentary is premiering at a film festival in Los Angeles, and for the millions of people who have gone to see your dad and who loved watching him on stage and who got joy from him performing, they can be there in the audience to relive those memories again, right?
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: The film is gonna be premiering June 20th at the Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles at the Chinese theater, and the tickets are open to the public.
- 31:27SPEAKER_02: It's an opportunity for you to, you know, see my dad's entire life story.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: You're gonna watch the film, and it's gonna feel like you're in the audience watching him perform at the Mirage or at the win.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: And you're gonna learn so many other things about his life that you would have never known before.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: And uh, I I really feel like people will be interested, be thoroughly entertained from beginning to end, and they'll learn some some good things along the way.
- 31:54Sean McAllister: And the link to get tickets to that film premiere in Hollywood at the Chinese theater, uh, we have that link down in our show notes.
- 32:03Sean McAllister: And tickets are uh it's just about 20 bucks.
- 32:05Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 32:05Dayna Roselli: I mean, if you're in the LA area, uh Hollywood area, or want to drive there from Las Vegas or whatever, anywhere, um, fly in, whatever.
- 32:14Dayna Roselli: I think it's gonna be really worth it.
- 32:15Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be quite an occasion, like you heard uh Andrew say.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: So great to see Andrew.
- 32:20Dayna Roselli: He's grown up and um it interesting to talk to him about, you know, his life now and his perspective and how his dad's legacy and what he's learned from him has shaped who he is today.
- 32:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, I really can't wait to see this entire film.
- 32:35Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 32:36Sean McAllister: That's gonna it's looks like it's gonna be fantastic.
- 32:39Dayna Roselli: All right, let's do some tips now.
- 32:43Dayna Roselli: Let's travel up to Mesquite Now.
- 32:46Dayna Roselli: It's about an hour 20 from Las Vegas, but a popular little area.
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: People like to go there to golf.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: People like to pull off to have some lunch when they're on a drive.
- 32:55Dayna Roselli: You take the I-15 north right out of Vegas and go straight.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: And there's a great resort there called Casablanca Resort and Casino, and they're doing some upgrades.
- 33:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, and you'll see it just to off to the right when you're going up the highway.
- 33:09Sean McAllister: Uh pull off the exit.
- 33:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, they're doing some upgrades.
- 33:12Sean McAllister: They have some uh new restaurants that they're opening up, and they need employees to work at those restaurants.
- 33:19Sean McAllister: They're hosting a job fair coming up.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: Um 90 more than 94 positions available.
- 33:26Sean McAllister: But in front and back of house.
- 33:29Sean McAllister: Uh so that uh job fair is coming up on June 25th.
- 33:34Sean McAllister: That's from 10 to 3.
- 33:35Sean McAllister: So if you're thinking about moving to the Las Vegas area, this could be a good opportunity for you.
- 33:42Sean McAllister: If you're in the Las Vegas area and you're looking for a job, this could also be a good opportunity for you.
- 33:48Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: Or if you've recently retired to Mesquite and you're looking for a job, right?
- 33:53Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 33:53Dayna Roselli: On a little side work or whatever.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: Um, it's a really pretty place.
- 33:57Dayna Roselli: Uh the two restaurants opening, it's Jersey Joe's Diner and Rita's and Fajitas.
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: Sounds good.
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: They're gonna debut later this summer um as part of this multi-million dollar renovation they've been doing up there at uh Casablanca Resort.
- 34:10Dayna Roselli: So anyway, excited to see them constantly making changes there.
- 34:14Dayna Roselli: And a lot of people do staycations there as well.
- 34:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, they do.
- 34:17Sean McAllister: So I've driven many times to uh see family up in northern Utah.
- 34:23Sean McAllister: My in-laws live up there, and a lot of times we'll stop at at Casablanca.
- 34:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I feel like one time I ate in the one of the restaurants there, or the I think it's the Dine Air Breakfast, and it's like everyone knows each other a little bit too, you know?
- 34:35Dayna Roselli: Absolutely.
- 34:35Dayna Roselli: It's definitely a popular place.
- 34:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I went to one of the hot air balloon festivals up there and it was fun.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they have uh spot for people to plug in their electric cars in the parking lot.
- 34:45Sean McAllister: They absolutely do.
- 34:46Dayna Roselli: You need a pit stop, you go in, you have your little lunch while your car is charging, all that good stuff.
- 34:51Sean McAllister: Yeah, so keep that in mind.
- 34:52Sean McAllister: Uh the the upgrades that are happening there, and also that job fair.
- 34:58Dayna Roselli: Hey, I know Steel Panther is really popular.
- 35:01Dayna Roselli: They have been performing in Las Vegas a long time.
- 35:04Dayna Roselli: They kind of come and go, and it just came into our inbox that they are doing a round of shows over at the House of Blues in August.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, August 16th and 22nd.
- 35:15Sean McAllister: They'll be over there at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay.
- 35:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 35:20Dayna Roselli: Now they are huge.
- 35:21Dayna Roselli: Um, like all around Europe, every like a lot of people, not just from the United States, know who they are.
- 35:27Dayna Roselli: They're it's a big deal.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: They are apparently from California.
- 35:32Dayna Roselli: They're kind of like it's like metal, right?
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: Like metal music.
- 35:36Dayna Roselli: They're fun.
- 35:37Dayna Roselli: And I always hear such great things about them, and I have not been able to see them in person yet.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: Like maybe, maybe a long time ago.
- 35:45Dayna Roselli: Actually, I might have.
- 35:47Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, they have announced their last round of U.S.
- 35:51Dayna Roselli: dates on their Feel the Steel 15th anniversary world tour, and the House of Blues is getting them.
- 35:57Dayna Roselli: Tickets are on sale actually this Friday, so depending on when you're listening, June 13th.

- 36:10Sean McAllister: All right, so if you're ready to rock out, do it with Steel Panther.

- 36:18Sean McAllister: Next week, uh, we're gonna take you to a couple fun places, a distillery and a winery here in Las Vegas.
- 36:25Sean McAllister: You'll get all the details about that.
- 36:27Sean McAllister: They're in a booze district.
- 36:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, who knew we had a booze district?
- 36:31Dayna Roselli: Well, I feel like the whole town is a booze district.
- 36:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, kind of.
- 36:35Dayna Roselli: Well, we have a lot of booze available.
- 36:38Sean McAllister: Available, but they're actually making it here.
- 36:40Dayna Roselli: They sure are.
- 36:41Dayna Roselli: Uh, we got some tours, and it's really, really cool.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: We also chat with a popular social media influencer, Vegas Starfish.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: Her name's Jen G.
- 36:51Dayna Roselli: She was at the American Music Awards, and we keep finding like little interviews that we did, and we're like, oh, we should share this one.
- 36:57Dayna Roselli: We forgot to put this in.
