Latest / Performance Car Ownership with Gary / PORSCHE PARADE 2026 — A FULL WEEK IN LAKE PLACID: WHAT I EXPECTED, WHAT SURPRISED ME, AND WOULD I GO BACK?
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: The drive and the views from the top were absolutely spectacular.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to tell you something I couldn't have told you before I went back.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: All right, so who should go to Porsche Parade?
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I'll share the exact cost for attending uh Porsche Parade a little bit later.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I've been thinking about Porsche Parade 2026 for the last few weeks since I've returned.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And I've got three honest answers to the three questions I kept asking myself, you know, before I went.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Did Porsche Parade 2026 live up to my 12 years of expectations?
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Yes, but not in the way that I expected.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: What surprised me most about the week?
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Well, actually what's changed, but also, you know, what didn't?
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And would I go back?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: By the end of this video, I'll give you the full answer to that last question.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're new here, this channel covers long-term Porsche and other performance car ownership from people who actually live with these cars.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: You know, we're talking about real costs, real experience, no press loans, no sponsored content, no fluff.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Now, most of my videos are right along honest owner reviews.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: You know, one car, one owner, one honest verdict.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: This one's different.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: This is the full debrief of my week at Porsche Parade 2026 in Lake Placid, New York.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: The 70th annual parade, my fourth time attending, the first time back in 12 years.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: I've made uh shorter videos about the specific parts of the week.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: The drive there, the concourstaging at 4 30 a.m., the TSD rally, revolution rail, those are all linked below in my playlist.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: But this video is the one where I sit down and answer the questions.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Those videos couldn't.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Grab a coffee, this is gonna take a while.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Now let me explain the 12-year gap because it shapes everything I'm gonna tell you.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Now, I didn't stop going to parade because of anything uh dramatic.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Life moves, the calendar fills up.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: A week away is a significant commitment financially, logistically, and in terms of what you're not doing with your time.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: The honest answer is that after my third parade, which was in Monterey, California, the first one where I flew out and rented a car locally, I vowed to never attend another Porsche Parade unless I drove my own Porsche to the event.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just not the same with a rental car.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: So I needed to attend a Porsche Parade that was within a day's drive of my home.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: But it also needed to fit into my busy schedule as a self-employed entrepreneur.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Now that I'm retired, and since Lake Placid is less than 500 miles from my home, this year's Porsche Parade, well, you know, was perfect.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: It didn't hurt that Lake Placid is a genuinely compelling destination.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: You know, the Adirondacks, the Olympic history, Mirror Lake, it wasn't a hard sell.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I needed to know, is Porsche Parade still the thing it was?
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Has the community changed?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Has the event changed?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Have I changed so much that what I loved about it before might not interest me anymore?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Those are the questions this video answers.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Now, as I mentioned, over the last few weeks, I've been putting out shorter videos about specific parts of Parade Week.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: My drive from Ontario in my 718 Spider, the 430 a.m.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Concourse staging, a full TSD rally follow-along with two first timers, even a rail bike tour through the Adirondack Forest with my wife and our friends.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Now those videos each tell one story.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: This video tells the whole story.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: You don't need to have seen those videos to be able to follow along here.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: But if something I mentioned makes you want the full version, everything's linked in the description down below.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Now I want to start where the week actually started, pulling into Lake Placid in my 718 spider with my wife beside me.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: You know, recently we haven't participated in very many car events together.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: So that alone was very cool.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: I've described this in my drive video, so I'll keep it brief here.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: But the short version is the moment you arrive in the host city whose population is just slightly more than the number of Porsches that have just arrived, and you see Porsches start appearing everywhere.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: You know, it's they're on every corner, parked on every street, pulling into lots, coming around corners.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Something happens.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: It's not just excitement exactly, it's more like recognition.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Like you've been away from something you didn't know you missed, and the first moment back tells you immediately that you should have come a lot sooner.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: That feeling lasted about 30 seconds before I started looking at everything, you know, with a much more critical eye.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Because that's what 12 years and a YouTube channel does to you.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: But those 30 seconds, they were genuinely something.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Now here's the answer to did it live up.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, the cars are spectacular.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: 150 of the best of the best Porsches on that Olympic oval, that's not something you're gonna see anywhere else in the world.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Now keep in mind, I've been to PCA regional cars and coffee events, Concours, track days with serious machinery.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: But nothing quite looks like a Porsche Parade Concord.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: But you know, the cars aren't the answer to that question.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: The answer is always the people.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: You know, I've been a PCA member for a long time.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I've been to track events, um, club dinners, regional gatherings, and the Porsche community is genuinely wonderful in all of those contexts.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: But parade is different.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: At parade, everyone has made a significant commitment to be there.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Most have driven long hours, even for multiple days.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: They've taken a week off work, they've brought a car they genuinely care about, not only across state lines, but also across international borders.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: They've paid for it.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I'll share the exact cost for attending a Porsche Parade a little bit later.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Now, what that commitment does, and this is the thing I'd forgotten in twelve years, is create a room full of people who are genuinely present.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Nobody's there by accident, nobody's on their phone waiting for it all to be over.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Everybody chose to be here right now.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Now, sitting at the Concorde banquet on the third night, I looked around the room and thought, this is what a car community looks like when it's working the way it's supposed to work.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Now, not everything was the same as I remembered, and I want to be honest about that.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: The cost is different.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: When I was at the last parade, a week like this, registration, headquarter hotel, meals travel was a significant expense.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's for sure.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Now, it's now a very significant expense.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: The headquarter hotels in Lake Placid are definitely not cheap, and it's peak because, you know, it's peak season in Lake Placid right now.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: Now that's not a complaint, it's a fact.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: And I think it's worth saying directly because I know it's the first thing a lot of people think about when they're deciding on whether to go to Porsche Parade or not.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Cars are different too, which is to say the average price of a Porsche at this event is considerably higher than it was twelve years ago.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Now that's not the community's fault.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: That's what Porsche has done to their pricing over the last decade.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: But it does mean the event feels slightly different in terms of the spread of ownership.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: There are still taily drivers and well-loved Oler cars.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I was happy to see that.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: But the center of gravity has shifted, and the scale is, you know, different.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Thirteen hundred cars taking over such a small town is a lot.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: There were moments during the week where the parade felt less like a gathering and more like a huge production.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: You know, that's not entirely bad.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: The logistics are impressive, but there were moments where I missed the intimacy of a smaller version of this event.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Now it was still great to see that PCA members were present from all over North America.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I saw that same red 9-11 I'd see during my previous parades, which was driven from Alaska, with its blue travel painter's tape still applied early in the week.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Now that's commitment.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Better than what I remembered.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: The location is better than I expected.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Lake Placid is generally one of the most beautiful towns in North America.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Mirror Lake at dawn, the Adirondacks in the background, the Olympic history embedded in the architecture.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: It was the right choice for the 70th Porsche Parade.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe not as exciting a location as Monterey, but much better than most parade locations.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And the breadth of the event is better than I remembered.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: You know, that TSD rally, which I'd walked past for three previous parades, turns out to be one of the most genuinely compelling competitive events on that schedule.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: I now know how popular it has become at Porsche Parade after just witnessing the number of people attending the in-class training and cars lined up for the start of the TSD rally.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: The art show, although hidden away on the upper floor, was very well represented, and the passion of those artists was obvious in their artwork.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: The tours ran every day to multiple locations all over New York State, and the routes were incredibly scenic.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: That autocross, well, it was extremely well attended.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: And fortunately, most of the first day, yeah, the rain held off.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: There were multiple opportunities to check out the sim racing for folks for the first time and learn more about how you get into sim racing and what it's all about.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: There's more here than I ever expected to give Porsche Parade credit for.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Now the first thing that surprised me this week again had nothing to do with the cars.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: It had to do with 4 30 in the morning.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: I've covered the concour staging in detail in a separate video, but I'll give you the summary here.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: The parade concour de Oligons, 150 extremely significant Porsches on a historic Olympic oval.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that doesn't just arrive that way.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: It's built in the near dark by a group of volunteers who start work before the sun comes up.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Now I've been to four Porsche parades.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: If you've walked the concourse as a spectator at nine in the morning and thought, yeah, it looks like it's always been this way.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Well, of course it hasn't.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: The numerous volunteers got up early to make it happen.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Now I was one of them on that oval at 4.30 in the morning.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: And I can tell you, the thing that surprised me wasn't the logistics, although they're genuinely impressive, it was the commitment of the volunteers making it all happen.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Porsche events attract people who care about their cars.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: What I was pleased to see once again this year is how many of them care enough about the event itself to show up before sunrise and do the work that nobody will see.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Then, of course, there's the amazing amount of work done by the Concord participants themselves in spending countless days and often weeks preparing their cars.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: I heard about more than one enormous pile of dirty Q-tips per car that were sacrificed during final prep.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: That reinforced something for me about how I think about this community.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: The second surprise involves an event I'd been actively ignoring for 20 years.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: This year I've covered the TSD rally in detail, featuring my friends Karen and Pierre in that dedicated video.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: So again, summary version here.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: The TSD rally is a precision driving event.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: No GPS, no phone.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: You follow a route with a suggested timing app.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Try to hit exact average speed at each checkpoint.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: The team with the lowest total timing errors wins.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: I thought, you know, it's for spreadsheet type people, right?
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: I thought it required a special kind of mechanical preparation that I'd never be bothered with.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: I thought it was the niche within a niche within this event that serious competitors did, and the rest of it, we just politely ignored the whole thing, right?
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Every single one of those assumptions was absolutely wrong.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: What that TSD rally actually is, and I say this as a PCA track instructor who thought that I understood what precision driving meant, is a test of attentiveness, communication, and car control that has nothing to do with horsepower and everything to do with actual driving.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Now, that third surprise is something I need to be honest about because it reflects on how I was approaching this event.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: My wife entered an art project in the Parade Art Show.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: It's something she'd been working on that reflected my passion for my first Porsche.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Our friend Karen, who was attending parade for the first time, also entered her painting of Porsches at Speed coming down that corkscrew at Laguna Seca.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: And to be completely transparent with you, before the week started, I thought of the art show as more of a background kind of event.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: The thing that happened while the real parade activity was going on elsewhere.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: I was wrong about that.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Watching the engagement with that part of parade, you know, the artists, the entries, the community of people who love Porsches enough to make things about them rather than just own them.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was, you know, genuinely moving.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: And it made me realize I'd been seeing parade through a single lens for 20 years.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: There's a version of this event that has nothing to do with lap times or concour judging or TST rally scores.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: It's the version where people come because a car changed something for them.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And they want to be around other people who understand that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: That revolution rail tour, the rail bike video, is part of that same discovery.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: 90 minutes in the Adirondack Forest at 10 miles an hour with our friends in the rain, completely off the horsepower clock.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: My wife loved every second of it.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: So did I.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: But don't tell her.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: The fourth surprise is one I probably should have expected as a track instructor, but didn't.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: The parade autocross is the most honest event on the schedule.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: And here's what I mean by that.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: At the Concour, a 40-year-old restoration can compete with a factory fresh GT3 in a way that feels fair.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And at the TSD rally, a well-driven boxster can beat a GT3RS, no problem.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: But the autocross, despite being structured so that you're competing within your class, has a quality that the other events don't.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: It finds you out.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: You can arrive at parade in an immaculate car, you can walk the concourse with authority.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: You can discuss parade history at the banquet with real knowledge.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: But when you're on the autocross course, it's just you and the car and what you can actually do with that car.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I've tracked a lot of cars at a lot of events, and there's something about the parade autocross, the compressed space, the variety of the field, the fact that you're running in front of people who really know what they're looking at that I found more clarifying than I expected.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: No, I didn't participate, but I have found a new appreciation for those who did.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: The fifth surprise is the one I'm most embarrassed to admit because it's, you know, it's the most obvious.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: The banquets are a genuinely great social event.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I know, banquets.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Not exactly compelling YouTube content, but stay with me on this one.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: At most car events, the social dimension is incidental.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: You're there for the driving or the show, and the social time is, you know, it's what happens in the margins.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: A coffee at the paddock, a conversation in the parking lot, the parade banquets are different because they're the whole point of that evening.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Nobody's there waiting to get back to something else.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: The events are over for the day.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: People are in good spirits, and you're sitting with a room full of people who made a significant commitment to be in the same place at the same time because of a shared passion.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: The welcome party on the first night always sets the tone for me.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Most of the banquets have arranged table placement, which is a great way to meet new folks.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Now, unfortunately, this time all of the people at our table at every banquet were from our region, which, although I enjoyed their company, in past parades everyone at the table was from a different region.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: So I enjoyed meeting enthusiasts from different parts of North America and hearing their perspectives on parade and Porsche's and their chapter and the club in general.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I really enjoyed that aspect of the banquets.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: That conversation is what Porsche Parade is for.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: The rest of it, the competitive events, the concourse, the tours, is what gives you something to talk about.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: And surprise number six was the driving tours, were not what I expected.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: I was a little disappointed to find out that there were few car themed tours.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: During my previous parades, we had tours for parade laps of Road America and Laguna Seca, as well as guided tours of legendary Porsche 959 tuner Kanipa Designs.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: The tours of this year's Porsche Parade were mostly orientated around local, you know, within about an hour, hour and a half drive from Lake Placid, tourist type attractions of things like gorges and forts.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Now, we did the Revolution Rail tour, and again, I've detailed that in a specific uh video, which we enjoyed, you know, despite the rain.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Now, I was actually shocked to find that one of the best and closest drives and most scenic locations wasn't even mentioned on either the tours or the destination drives list.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: That was the drive to the top of Whiteface Mountain, which was easily within a half hour of Lake Placid.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And when Cheryl and I made the trip up that road, even in the rain, the drive and the views from the top were absolutely spectacular.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: When it comes to surprise number seven, this year the registration was much smoother and quicker than any parade I've ever attended.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Now, veteran parade goers will warn you about massively slow moving cues and confusion during registration.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: But I didn't see any of that this time.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Just get in, get your registration documents, move station to station, and you know what?
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: I was done in under 20 minutes.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: And that was a welcome release.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: So will I go back to Porsche Parade in the future?
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Now, before I give you that answer, I need to give you the honest cost accounting because this question can't be answered without considering the costs.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: A couple attending Porsche Parade, like me, driving from southern Ontario, staying at a headquarter-type hotel for the week, attending the major events and banquets, is looking at, you know, a pretty real number.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Let me give you the actual version of what that cost in US dollars for my wife and myself.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Registration and the events themselves was$1,100, which included, I think, the three banquets.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: A hotel right across the street from the week was$3,240.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not cheap.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Meals,$825 for the week.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Fuel and travel costs, round trip from our home in Ontario, and of course, all the driving around when we were at parade ended up$409.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Miscellaneous kind of little tours and things that were like$22.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: All in, we're talking$5,595.75 US dollars.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: That's a real number.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: And I want to say it directly rather than just leave it vague.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Because I think vague answers to cost questions are the least useful thing a channel like this can do.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Is that a lot of money?
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to tell you that it isn't.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Is it more than comparable week at a track day event?
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: You know, probably not.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, it depending on your car and your run group, it'd probably be about the same.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Is it more than a comparable week of a driving holiday in a destination like this?
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: You know, I think it'd be roughly equivalent.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Once you factor in accommodations and activities, the question isn't whether it's expensive, the question is, is it worth it?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: And here's my honest answer.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: There's a version of your Porsche ownership life where the car is the relationship.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: You drive it, you maintain it, you track it, you maybe do a PCA autocross or two a year, and that's a completely valid version of this.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: And then there's the version where the car is the entry point into something much larger, a community of people who understand without you having to explain it, why you spend a week's salary on an exhaust system, why you get up at 4.30 in the morning to help place someone else's car on an Olympic oval, why you drove 10 hours each way for a week-long event instead of just watching the highlights, you know, on something like YouTube.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Porsche Parade is that version of Porsche ownership made visible for one week a year.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to tell you something I couldn't have told you before I went back.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: I didn't know how much I'd miss it until I was at parade again.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: And I didn't know how much I'd missed the person that I am at parade.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: You know, the track instructor who's genuinely curious about other people's cars, who's happy to help place someone's 356 at five in the morning, who sits at a banquet table with a stranger and talks for two hours about why Porsches matter until that person showed up again this week.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: That's worth more than those numbers I just gave you.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Would I go back?
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Not because it was perfect.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: It wasn't.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: It's expensive, it's large, some things have changed in ways I'm still kind of processing.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: But because of what it reminded me of.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: That I bought my first Porsche because of how it made me feel when I drove it.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: And that feeling, you know, I've been driving for over 50 years.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: So after thousands of track laps, after more cars than I can count, it's still exactly there.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: And parade is the week where everyone in the room is there for the same reason.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And not waiting another 12 years, that's for sure.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: If you've watched this so far and you're a PCA member who's been telling yourself you go to parade one of these years, I hope this helped.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Hit subscribe and stick around because this channel is built on honest owner reviews of the people that actually own those performance cars and actually use them.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Alright, so who should go to Porsche Parade?
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: Well, if you've been a PCA member for years and the community has started to feel smaller than it should, you know, because you're going to regional events, familiar faces, the same conversation, parade is the reminder of what the full size of this community actually looks like.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: If you have a partner who's been patient and supportive about the Porsche habit and you want to give them a week where the car is kind of the backdrop to something genuinely enjoyable for both of you, the right parade location makes this possible.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Lake Placid certainly did for us.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: If you own a car you care about deeply and you've never been in a room full of people who would immediately understand why, go once and see what it feels like.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: If you've been away from parade for whatever reason for however long and you're not sure whether it's still worth going back, it is.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you directly, it is.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: And who probably shouldn't go?
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: If you're going primarily as a spectator and you're not prepared to volunteer or participate in anything, the cost won't feel justified.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Parade rewards engagement.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: It punishes passive attendance.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: If the idea of spending a week surrounded by people who are deeply specifically enthusiastic about one car brand sounds exhausting rather than energizing, this might not be your week.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: And that's fine.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: You know yourself.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: And honestly, if you're the kind of Porsche owner who tracks aggressively, prioritizes lap times above everything else, and finds the social dimension of car ownership a little bit beside the point.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Now, if this video sent you down a Porsche rabbit hole and you want to learn more about Porsche ownership, my 718 Spider five-year review is the most complete long-term ownership video I've made for this car.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Five years with a significant track use, every cost, every service, every moment I ask myself whether I made the right call.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: I still enjoy it every day.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: And after a week at parade in Lake Placid with my Miami Blue 718 Spider, surrounded by every significant portion that's ever mattered, I'm more sure than ever that it's the best car choice for me.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: That video is right here, and I'll see you there.
