- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up bond Relatables. No one knows you and no
- 0:04Speaker 1: one knows your partner better than you two. So all
- 0:06Speaker 1: these expectations you have about when someone should get engaged,
- 0:09Speaker 1: when someone should say I love you, anything like that,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Like who gives a fuck? As long as you're happy. Yeah,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Like that's all the matters that you and your partner
- 0:17Speaker 1: figure it out together what works for you.
- 0:31Speaker 2: The Relatables podcast is hosted by myself, Jake Craig aka Daddy,
- 0:37Speaker 2: and my partner in crime, the one that I have
- 0:41Speaker 2: a bone to pick with, Budie Clark aka Mummy.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Another bone? Another bone? Is this one valid? This is
- 0:48Speaker 1: a valid bone? All right? All right? This is a
- 0:51Speaker 1: valid what's that trend? At the moment we listen and
- 0:54Speaker 1: we don't what is it? We listen and we don't judge.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Maybe you should have done that, because oh listen, I
- 1:01Speaker 2: need basically for the before we listen and we don't judge,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I would need an admission of guilt from you. Okay,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'm going to listen and I'm pre judged for like
- 1:09Speaker 2: a week.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Usually I have a big rebuttal or. I like to
- 1:14Speaker 1: reflect and then go harder on you. Okay, Okay, so
- 1:17Speaker 1: go the floor.
- 1:18Speaker 2: This is like a story that the first thing I'm
- 1:20Speaker 2: going to say is is the story.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Somehow starts from when you get home from Balley, So
- 1:30Speaker 1: like months ago? What that is? Eight ago? So long ago? September?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, so this is like it starts there,
- 1:47Speaker 2: but it doesn't start so probably I'm going to say,
- 1:53Speaker 2: so if Harry was here, it's just like four days
- 1:56Speaker 2: before Harry got here. So a week and a half,
- 1:58Speaker 2: two weeks ago, nearly, I was driving to Beth's place,
- 2:03Speaker 2: and I think.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'll just go on there, just like just go see you,
- 2:05Speaker 1: just a normal little trip down to Sydney.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And I was leaving in the morning or no, I
- 2:12Speaker 2: was leaving the afternoon, and I was a little tired,
- 2:13Speaker 2: and it was early enough to have a coffee still
- 2:15Speaker 2: at it was like two, and I was like, four
- 2:17Speaker 2: is like my threshold because I need like a sold six.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Hours before I got a better no caffee okay, sure,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and so I don't care. It was about too hey,
- 2:31Speaker 1: don't be like that. We listen and.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So okay, okay, So I got a coffee from McDonald's.
- 2:41Speaker 2: What coffee I actually do need.
- 2:43Speaker 1: To tell you? It adds to the story.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I got a large I sed allong black with a
- 2:47Speaker 2: dash of milk, okay, just a dash. Probably like three
- 2:53Speaker 2: quarters of it was the water and the coffee and
- 2:55Speaker 2: the full quarter was milk.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, so fair bit of milk and a large coffee.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm with you. And then I leave Oxford. You didn't
- 3:00Speaker 1: know what macas I was at. And then I leave,
- 3:03Speaker 1: and then I'm just vibing in the car. I'm listening.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I think I must have been listening to Hamishnandi, remembering
- 3:08Speaker 2: project I've been vibing with that podcast lately.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Shout out to them. And then I was there was
- 3:14Speaker 1: it was half full.
- 3:15Speaker 2: My cup was half full, I think, like you half full, Okay,
- 3:19Speaker 2: it wasn't half empty. And I was halfway on the freeway.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I was like halfway to Sydney Freeways one ten, chilling
- 3:26Speaker 2: in my little gets, pick up my cup, sit back down,
- 3:32Speaker 2: edge of the cup hits something spills everywhere all over the.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Floor in front of me right and I.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Was like, ah, like it was like the the amount
- 3:41Speaker 2: of mad where I was driving. And I was like hmm,
- 3:44Speaker 2: like I just couldn't do anything.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I can't clean up.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I was on the freeway was I've gone past the
- 3:49Speaker 2: Mooney Bridge fucking rest stop. I can't clean it up,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and so I just like drive without letting my heels
- 3:54Speaker 2: touch the floor now because there's fucking it's just stranded
- 3:57Speaker 2: to fucking coffee.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And I was like, ah, were barefoot? I was.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I had these and I like take them off to drive.
- 4:05Speaker 2: So I was barefoot, I had sides on, and so I.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Was like, oh no, it's kind of stink.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And I had I had something to go to that night,
- 4:12Speaker 2: me and Beth would go into the Spotify thing in Sydney,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and so I get, I park at Bets and I
- 4:16Speaker 2: get there and I'm like, oh fuck, I spilled my
- 4:18Speaker 2: coffee in the car. It's such I'm so mad, and
- 4:21Speaker 2: didn't have time to clean it because we had to
- 4:22Speaker 2: go straight there.
- 4:23Speaker 1: We were running late, and I was like, it's going
- 4:25Speaker 1: to smell.
- 4:25Speaker 2: It's going to cook in the sun and it's going
- 4:27Speaker 2: to smell, and so we're hoping the car go there.
- 4:29Speaker 2: After the event, I remember getting the car thinking all
- 4:32Speaker 2: already stinks a bit, ay, like you know that smell,
- 4:34Speaker 2: the sour coffee smell, and then leave her get back
- 4:38Speaker 2: to her place next morning, back in the car, and
- 4:40Speaker 2: it's getting worse a I was like, what the fuck?
- 4:42Speaker 2: I was like, this is kind of like worse than
- 4:44Speaker 2: I thought it was going to be. And then that
- 4:47Speaker 2: day I had time to go buy the foaming decent
- 4:49Speaker 2: spray you can do for carpets, and I bought a
- 4:51Speaker 2: full a border full can sprayed it foams up, and
- 4:54Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I'm sweet back in the car
- 4:57Speaker 2: after a couple of hours of doing.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Something stinks like shit, right, stinks like shit.
- 5:01Speaker 2: And then I have like two days at my house
- 5:04Speaker 2: of my car smelling terrible, okay spray. I I empty
- 5:09Speaker 2: two full cans of the foaming deodorizer spray, and I'm like,
- 5:12Speaker 2: how the fuck is the scent of milk and not
- 5:14Speaker 2: out of my cot? Like it only spilled my driver's seat,
- 5:17Speaker 2: and I was spraying everywhere in my drive.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Did you think of like washing up some water and
- 5:20Speaker 1: like turning out like a brush.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So I called my step mum and she was like,
- 5:24Speaker 2: get like warm soapy water and just douse it in
- 5:26Speaker 2: there because the warm soapy water should kill it. And
- 5:28Speaker 2: I was like, okay, and so did that smell still there?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Go pick up Harry. I got Beth, I got Casey
- 5:37Speaker 2: best best friend. We pick up Harry, but Henry in
- 5:39Speaker 2: the car. I was in Dad's car, so they didn't
- 5:41Speaker 2: have the smell, right, And so I was talking to
- 5:44Speaker 2: them about the smell that.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I was like, what there? And they were like, are you, like,
- 5:46Speaker 1: are you sure like you didn't.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Just like spill it anywhere else or you didn't spill
- 5:50Speaker 2: it somewhere else at the same time or something else,
- 5:52Speaker 2: And I was like, no, I didn't they have. The
- 5:55Speaker 2: next day we go to the photo shoot for the shirts.
- 5:57Speaker 2: They get in the car. They have to experience the
- 5:59Speaker 2: smell and it's bad now, right, that's that day and
- 6:02Speaker 2: Harry Harry goes Jake, that's not milk. And I said, Harry,
- 6:05Speaker 2: what else is it going to fucking be? You only
- 6:07Speaker 2: have spilt my car is milk? I was like giving
- 6:09Speaker 2: him shit I was talking about. I was like, what
- 6:11Speaker 2: the fuck? And then we get home and we just
- 6:16Speaker 2: go like I start doing stuff with the photos that
- 6:18Speaker 2: I start editing something, and then he's like, oh, can
- 6:21Speaker 2: I go I've left my water boil up to your car.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Can I go and lock it? I was like, oh, yeah, whatever,
- 6:26Speaker 2: I go get it. Blah blah blah.
- 6:27Speaker 1: And then He comes down and he goes.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Wasn't the milk A oh no, no, no, no, He goes, oh,
- 6:32Speaker 2: I only could have been milk. Ah, And he walks
- 6:35Speaker 2: in within his hand an orange juice bottle that had
- 6:41Speaker 2: little that had like a half full of fucking orange
- 6:43Speaker 2: juice in it with pulp that had been in there
- 6:47Speaker 2: with the lid on for so long that it fermented
- 6:49Speaker 2: and fucking exploded somehow. At the same time, I fucking
- 6:52Speaker 2: spilt my milk and I was like, what, And he said,
- 6:56Speaker 2: it's all over the floor under the passenger seat. Your
- 6:59Speaker 2: orange juice from when I picked you up from the
- 7:02Speaker 2: airport when you go from Bali and we stopped at
- 7:04Speaker 2: the pedro station, that you got an orange juice.
- 7:08Speaker 1: The timing on that seems a little bit too.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I was like, this is two coincidental, and he goes, nah,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I stick my head under looking for my water bottle.
- 7:16Speaker 1: There it is. And as soon as he took that
- 7:20Speaker 1: out of the car the next day, smell fine. Really
- 7:23Speaker 1: it was like I had to be that. I couldn't
- 7:26Speaker 1: believe it. And also the timing on that, are you
- 7:28Speaker 1: sure it's crazy? Should have brought a lot of it too,
- 7:31Speaker 1: Sure it's fine, you want to drink orange.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Juice, and the only person that's had to watch juice
- 7:35Speaker 2: in my car is you want to pick you up
- 7:37Speaker 2: from the airport. So this is what I get for
- 7:39Speaker 2: picking you up from the Airport's best not like orange juice.
- 7:42Speaker 1: She didn't, she hasn't had tone juice in my car.
- 7:44Speaker 2: We're both adults and we drink coffee. Would you like
- 7:47Speaker 2: me to listen and not have my rebuttal? Yeah, I
- 7:50Speaker 2: would let you to listen, not rebot. You can ray
- 7:52Speaker 2: if you have a rebuttal, No.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'll own it and say apologies. We actually that day
- 7:58Speaker 1: I had a big flight overnight fly. We had to
- 8:01Speaker 1: do something for a brand. Bit tired and then in
- 8:04Speaker 1: mind what do we have to do for a brand?
- 8:05Speaker 1: I had to go pick up stuff for the shop? Remember,
- 8:08Speaker 1: But in my defense, Jack's car is not clean. I
- 8:15Speaker 1: know I shouldn't leave my rubbish in there, but like
- 8:17Speaker 1: it probably just got blurred in everything else's on the ground.
- 8:22Speaker 1: There's fucking vibrators that I think, there's some chew dog balls,
- 8:28Speaker 1: dog toys, there's coffee cans, there's vcns, there's macas rubbish,
- 8:33Speaker 1: Like I probably just thought, oh, forgot about it. When
- 8:37Speaker 1: it was on the ground and it camouflaged with all
- 8:38Speaker 1: the other rubbish. So I do apologize, but also, yeah,
- 8:44Speaker 1: sort of your faulting the timing. Do you recognend it.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I still don't believe it, but as Sue, I'm telling you, dude,
- 8:56Speaker 2: as soon as he fucking took that out of the car,
- 8:59Speaker 2: because he brought it down the house and it was like,
- 9:00Speaker 2: smell this smell the inside of this and I was like, no,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I refuse to I believe.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You this orange juice ferment and explode and smell. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: get suppose I suppose it's not actually like pure orange juice.
- 9:10Speaker 2: No, I would have like sugar heaps of sugar in
- 9:11Speaker 2: it and stuff. But also like it was in the
- 9:12Speaker 2: car for a few like thirty degree days just so
- 9:16Speaker 2: happens that, like I have a feeling what happened was
- 9:19Speaker 2: the milk was the smell.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Was the smell. Sorry, And I got rid of the
- 9:23Speaker 1: smell with the foam.
- 9:23Speaker 2: But somehow at the same time, the sun because that
- 9:26Speaker 2: was the first couple really hot. Yeah, cook in the car,
- 9:29Speaker 2: just blow blow up the fucking.
- 9:31Speaker 1: At what point, because that was mid September, I came home.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It is now December at what point. I know you're
- 9:36Speaker 1: about to say, sh does that become a personal problem
- 9:41Speaker 1: for you? And it checks under their seats as soon
- 9:44Speaker 1: as I get out of the car. That then becomes
- 9:47Speaker 1: your problem. I know I should be a good passenger
- 9:54Speaker 1: princess and take my rubbish with me, but things happen,
- 9:56Speaker 1: problems happen, and I forget, and after that point, I
- 10:00Speaker 1: feel like it becomes your problem because and.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Clean my car and that, Yeah, I look at my cars.
- 10:09Speaker 1: How about we go fifty to fifty. It's half my fault,
- 10:11Speaker 1: half yours because it took the three months of fermentating
- 10:14Speaker 1: to make that smell like. I'm obviously not going to
- 10:17Speaker 1: think about it again.
- 10:19Speaker 2: You didn't think about it in the car every day,
- 10:21Speaker 2: Drake half an oras to stop thinking about it. Maybe
- 10:23Speaker 2: I just saw tummy, You don't know, intellectual thoughts all
- 10:35Speaker 2: up in my mind.
- 10:38Speaker 1: So Jake, before this episode, wanted to come up with
- 10:42Speaker 1: the song for his new segment, which is intellectual thoughts
- 10:45Speaker 1: with Jake Craig. We've had one, yeah, but I was
- 10:48Speaker 1: thinking we could come up because we're now artists. Let's
- 10:50Speaker 1: come up with the lyrics and then we'll go to
- 10:52Speaker 1: Toby Wells. But can you make this for us? I
- 10:54Speaker 1: reckon so like intellectual thoughts. I was going to do
- 10:58Speaker 1: it to caught in my thoughts by you.
- 11:00Speaker 2: You're going to go straight intellectual thoughts all up in
- 11:03Speaker 2: my mind looking for them.
- 11:07Speaker 1: They're not easy to find something like that that's really good.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I was thinking, like intellectual thoughts. People might not think
- 11:14Speaker 1: I have them, but I really do. I hope we're
- 11:18Speaker 1: got to think of myself. Let me prove it well
- 11:21Speaker 1: off camera. Will have to think of a song that
- 11:22Speaker 1: it goes with.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It doesn't have to recall my thoughts, but intellectual thoughts
- 11:25Speaker 2: goes with quarter myath thought.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it does to be fair.
- 11:27Speaker 2: But I've had another I've had another moment. And the
- 11:30Speaker 2: moment hit me so hard that I was in the
- 11:31Speaker 2: that I had to get joined to write it down
- 11:33Speaker 2: because I was driving.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Right. Wait wait wait, wait wait wait, let me let
- 11:37Speaker 1: me set the scene here. So about two months ago,
- 11:40Speaker 1: Jake came to me and said, people don't think he's
- 11:42Speaker 1: a deep thinker. So he came with this elaborate story
- 11:47Speaker 1: of how a dog reminded him of his friend who
- 11:50Speaker 1: reminded him of this deep intellectual thought that he had,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and he wanted to prove that he was a deep thinker.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And it's been two months and the other day around
- 11:57Speaker 1: the dinner table when we're brainstorming ideas for the pod,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck happened to your deep thoughts? Man?
- 12:03Speaker 1: And he's like, I haven't had another one.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I've just been waiting, and here's the thing is so
- 12:09Speaker 2: long way, here's a thing is I do? I genuinely
- 12:13Speaker 2: believe that happened daily. But it's just like it takes
- 12:17Speaker 2: it takes a good one for me to think I
- 12:18Speaker 2: went deep.
- 12:19Speaker 1: There do that? I see?
- 12:21Speaker 2: Here's what I think what happens is like, because you're
- 12:22Speaker 2: going to notice a pattern in the way my because
- 12:24Speaker 2: like the last one, if everyone's listened to the last
- 12:26Speaker 2: one compared to this one, it's like a similar thought process.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I think you confuse intellectual and deep as different things.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Deep to you means like a deep storyline with lots
- 12:37Speaker 1: of twists and rabbit hole in my brain, whereas me,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I think deep in intellectual means like makes you feel something,
- 12:43Speaker 1: makes you think, where do you think? It's like a
- 12:44Speaker 1: rabbit hole when you gotta find it.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I also like, I hope I come to a good
- 12:50Speaker 2: meeting at the end of this one, I can't quite remember.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Hope, but right, okay, I wanted to set the scene.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I hope like you also, I know this type of
- 13:02Speaker 2: stuff mus happened to you, and this is like and
- 13:04Speaker 2: this is just how it happens to me.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Right, Okay, I'm ready. Okay. So me and Joanna both
- 13:09Speaker 1: were in Sydney for Beth's, my girlfriend's best friend's birthday. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you and your sister.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Me and Joanna both went and Johanna drank. I didn't,
- 13:18Speaker 2: and she wasn't like hungover. But the next day I
- 13:21Speaker 2: drove and we were in her car, so I was
- 13:23Speaker 2: driving because she had a drink the night prior. And
- 13:27Speaker 2: there's like a very classic you know you're where we
- 13:32Speaker 2: live when you see the big dinosaur on the hill
- 13:36Speaker 2: coming off to the exit, and it's a big dinosaur
- 13:38Speaker 2: for the Reptile Park, the Australian Reptile Park.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, you know, you know you're on the central.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know that you're turning off in about two seconds, yes,
- 13:47Speaker 2: And so I looked at it and Johanna had just
- 13:50Speaker 2: recently been with her friend from Canada, So I said, oh, like,
- 13:55Speaker 2: how was that by the way, And she said it
- 13:56Speaker 2: was cool. I was like, well, what's the correlation between
- 13:59Speaker 2: the dinosaur and asking that question because the dinosaur is
- 14:02Speaker 2: the it's the sign is for the Australian Reptop Park
- 14:05Speaker 2: and so Joanna had just been follow along here. Joanna
- 14:09Speaker 2: had just been I said to Joanna how was it?
- 14:12Speaker 2: Because it reminded me that she went. I was like, oh,
- 14:13Speaker 2: you just went there.
- 14:14Speaker 1: How was they went to? And then she said it
- 14:16Speaker 1: was good?
- 14:16Speaker 2: And I was like, oh how. I was like, is
- 14:19Speaker 2: it like when you were a kid, because like I
- 14:21Speaker 2: remember going as a kid thinking it was like the sickest.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Thing ever, you know, you fucking like, I remember thinking
- 14:26Speaker 1: it is fucking so cool. And she was like, look, no,
- 14:28Speaker 1: it's not as cool any more.
- 14:29Speaker 2: But then and then what happened in my brain, I
- 14:31Speaker 2: had a that's so raven moment, and I remember that
- 14:33Speaker 2: when I was younger, I remember going to the Reptile
- 14:36Speaker 2: Park with my dad, my stepmom, my sister, and my
- 14:39Speaker 2: younger siblings must have been babies, and I remember standing
- 14:43Speaker 2: over near the toilets and my dad like looking at
- 14:46Speaker 2: something in his hands, and I was like, the fuck
- 14:47Speaker 2: are you looking at it? And and I go over
- 14:48Speaker 2: to him, and he goes and he like had a
- 14:51Speaker 2: bee in his hands and a bee stung him on
- 14:53Speaker 2: the foot and then he just like flicked it off,
- 14:55Speaker 2: and I remember thinking he was like the toughest guy
- 14:57Speaker 2: ever for it, right, And then what it brought me
- 14:59Speaker 2: to was one time when I was like maybe I
- 15:03Speaker 2: was like eight, and I was in Canada primary school
- 15:06Speaker 2: playing soccer out at lunchtime.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I got stung in the head by a bee. Shit
- 15:12Speaker 1: head hurts. I remember going like this scene that explains
- 15:15Speaker 1: a lot.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I remember seeing the bee, right yeah, and I'm looking
- 15:20Speaker 2: at the bee throw it off, and so one of
- 15:22Speaker 2: my friends sees me do it and he's like.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Did you just get stung on the head by a bee?
- 15:26Speaker 2: You know when you're a kid like and someone goes,
- 15:28Speaker 2: did you just like fall over?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Did you?
- 15:30Speaker 2: And you're kind of like trying to act of me
- 15:32Speaker 2: like yeah, yeah, yeah, Like it's sweet, dude. I fucking
- 15:35Speaker 2: was holding back tears like I've never held back to
- 15:37Speaker 2: you would hurt. And I never wanted to be goalie.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Always wanted to be striker. When I was playing soccer
- 15:43Speaker 2: with my friends when I was younger, I was like, guys,
- 15:44Speaker 2: I'm goalie and stood back there.
- 15:46Speaker 1: My team was better. I knew it.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Ball was always in their end. Sat there and cried
- 15:50Speaker 2: for the whole of life because I was fucking devo.
- 15:52Speaker 2: It hurts so bad. I was crying and I was
- 15:55Speaker 2: trying to act so tough whenone when anyone came over
- 15:56Speaker 2: there like are you crying? And I was like no,
- 15:58Speaker 2: and I was obviously fucking crying. And then I remember
- 16:00Speaker 2: when lunch was over, I went to the where do
- 16:06Speaker 2: you go sick bay? Yeah, I went to sick bay, right,
- 16:11Speaker 2: And then I remember going and getting like the teacher
- 16:14Speaker 2: to put ice on it and stuff like that, like I.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Didn't get sent home or anything.
- 16:17Speaker 2: But then what it then led me further to remember
- 16:20Speaker 2: was when I was a kid, dude, I hated going
- 16:22Speaker 2: to school, and I actually got sick a fair bit.
- 16:25Speaker 2: So I would milk the fact that my mom knew
- 16:29Speaker 2: I got sick real easy, and if I wasn't sick,
- 16:31Speaker 2: i'd fake it when I was at school if I
- 16:32Speaker 2: was sick of being there. And so I remember one time,
- 16:35Speaker 2: my poor single mum that's working a job trying to
- 16:38Speaker 2: pay rent, I was, I go to the sick pan.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'm like, I need to go home. So I need
- 16:44Speaker 1: to go home.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And I sit down and they're like, hey, we'll call
- 16:46Speaker 2: your mom. They call my mom and they go, oh,
- 16:48Speaker 2: your mom hasn't answered, but we left a message. And
- 16:51Speaker 2: so I sat there and they were just like, you
- 16:52Speaker 2: can't go and if you're sick, you can't go back
- 16:54Speaker 2: into class. So I'd just sit there, and I remember
- 16:56Speaker 2: being like, this is like, what if she just never
- 16:59Speaker 2: answers ever going to let me go back?
- 17:01Speaker 1: And so I was like, you know what, I reckon.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I was there for thirty minutes.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I would have been like seven or eight young. These
- 17:07Speaker 2: are early memories. I can't believe I remember them, and
- 17:09Speaker 2: so I remember, this is me. He's being such a
- 17:12Speaker 2: pick me little kid, such a little shit. I walked up.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I got up when they weren't looking mom. I still
- 17:17Speaker 2: didn't know if moment had got back to them yet.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I go and you can either keep going back to
- 17:20Speaker 2: class or turn left and leave the school.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Turn left, left the school. He left the school.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I walked outside and I started booking it down the street.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And as I was booking it down the street, I
- 17:29Speaker 2: saw my mom's car coming and I was like, fuck,
- 17:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna get back into school or she's gonna shoot
- 17:33Speaker 2: me or something. So I got back into school. She
- 17:36Speaker 2: picked me up, She's like, are you even six? She's
- 17:37Speaker 2: like giving me all this shit, And then I think
- 17:40Speaker 2: my thoughts started to fizzle out there. But I got
- 17:43Speaker 2: to the point where I was like, my poor mum having.
- 17:46Speaker 1: To pick me up from school.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Ah, because I fucking hated school and I ended on
- 17:50Speaker 2: sick bay.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Come here with you here, let's make something out of this,
- 17:54Speaker 1: so this isn't awful nothing. And then here's me still
- 17:56Speaker 1: thinking more further.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Do you remember at primary school when we were kids,
- 17:59Speaker 2: because and when I was an Australia sign, you would
- 18:01Speaker 2: have done this at Kingcomber.
- 18:03Speaker 1: They didn't. They didn't have this in Canada, by the way,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but they have this whole thing here of no hat,
- 18:06Speaker 1: no play, no school today. Really you can send home no,
- 18:10Speaker 1: that's what we just used to say, had no school, No,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you have no play school.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And you'd realize you don't have your hat in your
- 18:16Speaker 2: bag and you'd be like fuck. And so you knew
- 18:20Speaker 2: you weren't allowed to play outside at lunch and.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You'd go to the Lost and Fair. Oh yeah, I
- 18:25Speaker 1: used to do that. You say, I lost my hat
- 18:26Speaker 1: and you pretend you fine.
- 18:28Speaker 2: You're just like go, oh, this is my hat, probably
- 18:31Speaker 2: if someone handed it and then you go run outside
- 18:33Speaker 2: fucking playing with it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: That is the core memory. Oh forgot about that, So
- 18:40Speaker 1: that's your deep thought.
- 18:41Speaker 2: That's yeah, that was And I was like trying, you
- 18:43Speaker 2: gotta write this down a coup people, I went down
- 18:44Speaker 2: that route.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Okay, I went back to when I was seven. I'm
- 18:47Speaker 1: twenty four. No no, no, no, no no.
- 18:49Speaker 2: This brings up a really good point, and it's like,
- 18:53Speaker 2: as a kid, you don't like, it's really good parenting.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna try and get something out of this for you,
- 18:57Speaker 1: right yeah, yeah, there's something mini. No no, no, Can you relate?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Have you ever been like, no, mom, I'm sick, I'm not. No,
- 19:02Speaker 1: I can every person listening right now, I can relate
- 19:05Speaker 1: of going to sick bay in school, trying to get
- 19:06Speaker 1: out of school. Most of the time it didn't work,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but sometimes you might just ring your parents and they
- 19:10Speaker 1: can pick you up. I think I got away over
- 19:12Speaker 1: it like once. Really. I think I had like a
- 19:14Speaker 1: tummy ache or something. So you're probably actually sick. Take
- 19:17Speaker 1: it nothing. I was fake. I think I only affect
- 19:18Speaker 1: it once. My whole schooling career, but brings up a
- 19:21Speaker 1: good point of how parents are able to maybe we're
- 19:24Speaker 1: just naive, but put on a facade of now that
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're twenty four and really like learning about life and
- 19:30Speaker 1: the struggles of everything going on, they're able to put
- 19:32Speaker 1: on this like facade and everything's okay. Like your single
- 19:35Speaker 1: mum was working, probably struggling to pay rent, she had
- 19:39Speaker 1: to get out of I don't know, probably use one
- 19:41Speaker 1: of her sick days. She was probably fucking angry that
- 19:42Speaker 1: she had to come. And then as soon as she
- 19:44Speaker 1: picked you up, she's probably a little bit angry, like
- 19:45Speaker 1: are you really sick? But it selfish old me? But overall,
- 19:47Speaker 1: like after an hour, you would have forgot about it,
- 19:49Speaker 1: because you might would have been like, oh, he's FeAs
- 19:51Speaker 1: he's my son. And it's really good how parents are
- 19:53Speaker 1: able to do that and not put any pressure on
- 19:56Speaker 1: their kids. It's a really good thing.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Unconditional love exists, yeah or else like no parent would
- 20:00Speaker 2: love their kids, Yeah, exactly because they fucking the kids
- 20:03Speaker 2: are the most like selfish little fuckers without even realizing it,
- 20:06Speaker 2: I know, and like even like going like one step further,
- 20:08Speaker 2: like as soon as we start getting mortgages, start having kids,
- 20:11Speaker 2: we have a dog, like vet bills, everything like that.
- 20:14Speaker 2: You just want to see him happy and like all
- 20:16Speaker 2: those other things just don't matter, and like we just
- 20:18Speaker 2: put on, like we said, unconditional love and we just
- 20:21Speaker 2: figure it out and it's so cool and cool to
- 20:24Speaker 2: look at it in like clidsight.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Now it's yeah, weird to think about it.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I remember last time I spoke to my mum about
- 20:29Speaker 2: like last time I was there. I've spoken to her
- 20:31Speaker 2: since a few times, but I remember we'd last time
- 20:35Speaker 2: we spoke about when we were that young and she
- 20:37Speaker 2: was single, and she like, when you're a kid, you
- 20:41Speaker 2: don't really know what money is, no, And so when
- 20:44Speaker 2: I think back, I don't ever think like all my
- 20:47Speaker 2: struggling mother, because you're right, they always kind of just like.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Don't You're not going to be like to your kid,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I have no money.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah, like to your like maybe to a twelve year
- 20:56Speaker 2: old that might start to understand it, like, no, you
- 20:58Speaker 2: can't get that, because we actually have no money.
- 20:59Speaker 1: You have to understand that.
- 21:00Speaker 2: But to like a fucking four or five six year old,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you're not going to say to them like, we have
- 21:05Speaker 2: no money, because it's gonna be like what that?
- 21:08Speaker 1: And so I remember like my whole.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Childhood up until I was like, like I think I
- 21:15Speaker 2: knew Mom didn't have heaps of money, but I never
- 21:17Speaker 2: knew up until like the last time went to Canada,
- 21:19Speaker 2: like how little we actually had, but how much I
- 21:23Speaker 2: felt like we had.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, because love conquers conquers all. It could be that
- 21:30Speaker 1: it makes you like appreciate your parents more because like
- 21:32Speaker 1: when you're so young, you just don't understand things, and
- 21:34Speaker 1: now you're beginning to understand, you're like, well, like you'd
- 21:37Speaker 1: be thinking, oh, my mom was pretty loving and cool
- 21:40Speaker 1: about that day.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that I have ever told you At the time,
- 21:42Speaker 2: my dad came to Canada to visit us, and when
- 21:46Speaker 2: he would come once or twice a year, that was
- 21:49Speaker 2: like the deal. If Mom wanted to have us in Canada,
- 21:52Speaker 2: then Dad would come and visit and they this whole deal,
- 21:56Speaker 2: sort it out with the courts or something, and so
- 21:59Speaker 2: he would come and when he came, he would always
- 22:03Speaker 2: he would get us like our birthday present when we
- 22:06Speaker 2: were with him, and then like wouldn't and then he
- 22:08Speaker 2: would send something like small on our birthday because he
- 22:10Speaker 2: wouldn't always be with us like me and Johyn have birthdays.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's different obviously.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And I remember once he bought me and Joanna and
- 22:15Speaker 2: Nintendo DS each. I don't remember how much they were
- 22:18Speaker 2: at the time, but I remember him coming to visit
- 22:20Speaker 2: and he got us a Nintendo.
- 22:22Speaker 1: DS and I was been sick as a kid.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I was like bra, I was like Mario cart and shit, yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 2: poker fuck. I loved my DS. And as he's paying,
- 22:30Speaker 2: he hands the girl his card and I was like,
- 22:34Speaker 2: is that got just never any money on it?
- 22:36Speaker 1: And he was like, no, I wish.
- 22:40Speaker 2: And I always think about it now every now and
- 22:42Speaker 2: then because obviously I have my own card and I
- 22:44Speaker 2: make my own money. And it's like when I was
- 22:46Speaker 2: a kid, I genuinely was like that you can buy
- 22:48Speaker 2: anything with that.
- 22:52Speaker 1: To be that naive, how good is it? Ignorance is bliss.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It is so bliss just looking back, even like at
- 22:59Speaker 1: school in our school was the best time he lived.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You had no problem, even like when we were sixteen. Yeah,
- 23:04Speaker 1: it was the best life ever. The biggest issue.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I worried about when I was like going to school
- 23:12Speaker 2: was probably, I don't know, trying to find five bucks
- 23:16Speaker 2: in the house somewhere to buy chocolate milk. You know,
- 23:20Speaker 2: he was such a privilege finding money to go to
- 23:22Speaker 2: the movies with friends or girls. Yeah, and you were
- 23:24Speaker 2: like had to beg your parents or like go Moto
- 23:27Speaker 2: Lawn so you can go watch a movie.
- 23:28Speaker 1: You're you're like, fuck off, and.
- 23:30Speaker 2: You're like and also when all your friends are like
- 23:33Speaker 2: planning to go to the movies and they're like you're coming,
- 23:34Speaker 2: you're coming, and like, yeah, I'll fucking be there, and
- 23:36Speaker 2: you go home and you're, dad, I want to go
- 23:37Speaker 2: to the movies.
- 23:37Speaker 1: They're all going.
- 23:38Speaker 2: He's like, no, no, it's time, Like for no other reason, no, no,
- 23:41Speaker 2: not for the money, just for the fact that like
- 23:43Speaker 2: he's just like, you don't get to do everything you want,
- 23:46Speaker 2: and like my parents were super lenient and just like
- 23:48Speaker 2: every now and then, maybe I was being a shit
- 23:50Speaker 2: and they were just like, you don't get to do everything,
- 23:52Speaker 2: and so you'd miss out. And then you see on
- 23:54Speaker 2: everyone's like Snapchat was coming out, Instagram was coming out.
- 23:56Speaker 2: You see on their stories everyone's having a blast, and
- 23:58Speaker 2: you're like, I just wanted to go to the fucking movie.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I feel like this time of year we hanged out
- 24:02Speaker 1: with our friends. Recently, I know, surprise, that's crazy. Yeah,
- 24:04Speaker 1: we should have brought that up as a full topic,
- 24:06Speaker 1: I know, and just looking back, like you look back
- 24:10Speaker 1: at your year, but also you like reflect upon everything
- 24:12Speaker 1: that's happened in your life at this time of year.
- 24:13Speaker 1: It just always happens. Yeah, with that, I don't know,
- 24:16Speaker 1: just the reflective period. Yeah, it is very reflective. It's funny.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Also, I was kind of going into seeing our friends.
- 24:22Speaker 2: There was I reckon, there's friends that we saw that. Yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 2: you know, you're almost to think like are we even
- 24:27Speaker 2: still friends? Yeah, I haven't seen you for that long.
- 24:30Speaker 2: It's like if we really were friends, both of us
- 24:32Speaker 2: would give enough of a shit to make time. But
- 24:34Speaker 2: then like when you see them, it's like you have
- 24:36Speaker 2: saw each other yesterday.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Maybe we will do a topic on it because this
- 24:39Speaker 1: is the first time like our friendship group has like
- 24:42Speaker 1: fully dissipated. There's like ten of us and now we
- 24:46Speaker 1: all just hang out with like our little individual groups.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's not even It's like it's not like
- 24:51Speaker 2: you and me hang out and then all eight of
- 24:53Speaker 2: them hang out together. It's like me and you obviously
- 24:55Speaker 2: hang out all the time, and then there's two others
- 24:57Speaker 2: that hang out all the time, and they haven't hung
- 24:59Speaker 2: out with any.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Of the you. It's like it's all we've all I
- 25:01Speaker 1: think this is like in school. We're all on the
- 25:04Speaker 1: same journey and we're all going through life but pretty
- 25:07Speaker 1: much the exact same point. Don't get me wrong. We
- 25:09Speaker 1: have different goals and we like different things in life,
- 25:11Speaker 1: but the end trajectory is all pretty much the same.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And like it took us a few years, but twenty
- 25:16Speaker 1: three twenty four is the first time, like we've all
- 25:20Speaker 1: been on the train going the same way. We've had
- 25:22Speaker 1: to get off at a platform, and we've all got
- 25:23Speaker 1: on different trains.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Facts, it's a good analogy, to be fair, we've all
- 25:27Speaker 2: gone different directions.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's like taking it back to relatables. It's
- 25:31Speaker 1: hard to like relate to them, like they're on fair enough.
- 25:36Speaker 1: They have a hard week's work and they want to
- 25:38Speaker 1: go get pissed on the weekend, or they have a
- 25:39Speaker 1: hard week's work and they want to go fucking enjoy
- 25:41Speaker 1: the weekend because they have like the best, Like they
- 25:43Speaker 1: have to make the most of that moment, where like
- 25:46Speaker 1: we can't relate.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I think the biggest thing is also
- 25:49Speaker 2: now like the fact that we're very lucky. I know,
- 25:54Speaker 2: like we we had to do it ourselves and we
- 25:56Speaker 2: had to make it this way. But I think now
- 25:58Speaker 2: that we don't work for a while weekend, it's a
- 26:01Speaker 2: weird feeling.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Oh it's weird because like not that we don't work hard,
- 26:06Speaker 1: but we aren't looking forward to the weekend because we
- 26:08Speaker 1: love what we do. Yeah, like like Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday,
- 26:12Speaker 1: they're all the same to me, Yeah, exactly, every single
- 26:14Speaker 1: day is the exact same. And like I'm still like
- 26:17Speaker 1: when I used to be a guarden maintenance person, I
- 26:19Speaker 1: would never think about going to do a garden on
- 26:21Speaker 1: the weekend, but I'm editing every weekend because I love it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 1: it's hilarious, like happily pick up a couple of hours editing.
- 26:27Speaker 2: The only reason I would have, like, the only reason
- 26:30Speaker 2: I have any sort of like like it's still semi
- 26:33Speaker 2: feels like a weekend is maybe because for years obviously
- 26:36Speaker 2: it was.
- 26:36Speaker 1: But then also it's just that everyone around you is like.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Working, yeah, and then they're just not working for two days,
- 26:46Speaker 2: so you're kind of like, oh, it's obviously it's a weekend,
- 26:48Speaker 2: Like I know it's Saturday, but like you don't.
- 26:52Speaker 1: It's funny you don't. I think maybe we don't.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Appreciate like a day off as much anymore, or maybe
- 26:56Speaker 2: we do. I have no idea.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I've always thought that girls have a better way of
- 27:01Speaker 1: like managing their time and lives. I've always thought that
- 27:04Speaker 1: because guys only ever work like seven to four, seven
- 27:09Speaker 1: to three or whatever and then live for the weekends.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Where I swear, girls have a better understanding of like
- 27:13Speaker 1: making the most out of their days and getting jobs
- 27:16Speaker 1: where like it's good times and they have their morning free,
- 27:19Speaker 1: or they have their afternoon free, or they have like
- 27:22Speaker 1: just a random Wednesday free, whereas guys just fucking work
- 27:25Speaker 1: and don't think about it. I say, I've always thought that, Yeah,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I will, like even little things like.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Like Beth she gets one day off a week sometimes too,
- 27:36Speaker 2: like she because she works a lot, because she's like
- 27:38Speaker 2: a manager at a job, and so when she has
- 27:41Speaker 2: her day off, me the complete opposite to her, Like
- 27:44Speaker 2: if I was working six days a week, my day off,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I'd be like I'm sitting on the lund all day. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 2: But her, she's like, no, I do want to have
- 27:51Speaker 2: a life. So it's like, I want to go to
- 27:52Speaker 2: the beach.
- 27:53Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, fair enough, fair enough
- 27:55Speaker 1: for the beach.
- 27:56Speaker 2: And I'm like, I don't want to go to the
- 27:57Speaker 2: beach at that time, but they want to get to
- 27:59Speaker 2: the beach.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's actually pretty good. And then I'm like, funk, how like, how.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Do you know that you're going to regret not going
- 28:06Speaker 2: when at the time you don't want to go.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah. They make the most out of things. Yeah, they
- 28:12Speaker 1: make the most time in their lives. Alrighty, Jake. I
- 28:22Speaker 1: don't want to steal the limelight of a deep intellectual thought,
- 28:28Speaker 1: but this is what I think a deep intellectual thought
- 28:32Speaker 1: is you do your thing. Everybody comment comment below. What
- 28:36Speaker 1: deep intellectual thought do you like? Do you like Jake's storyline,
- 28:40Speaker 1: his rabbit hole in his brain? Deep thought? The definition
- 28:44Speaker 1: is in the beholder? Is that in saying you're going
- 28:47Speaker 1: back to being Yoda? Mate? What's the beholder saying? The beholder?
- 28:49Speaker 1: I don't know what the beholder is now you've said
- 28:51Speaker 1: this before. The beholder is someone who's saying something. Yeah. Yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 1: So like the the definition is defined by you, yeah yeah, yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: But I shouldn't be judging you because it's your definition of.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, there's a there's a quote though that has
- 29:03Speaker 2: ends we behold on.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It means the same thing. Everyone. Let me know what
- 29:09Speaker 1: deep thought you like? Jake saw mine? Okay, mine's got
- 29:12Speaker 1: a title. Here we go, Here we go. So does mind?
- 29:15Speaker 1: What was your title? Intellectual thoughts? You named it? That's okay,
- 29:21Speaker 1: that's title of the segment, not the title of the
- 29:22Speaker 1: deep thought title of all. The title of your thought
- 29:27Speaker 1: would be like dad gets stung by a bee, and
- 29:31Speaker 1: the title of I think how much I appreciate the
- 29:36Speaker 1: appreciation of parents came from you. That's not part of okay,
- 29:39Speaker 1: so these things hurt? All right? Tell me if you
- 29:43Speaker 1: like best things hurt? Or are your relationship expectations holding
- 29:48Speaker 1: you back? Shure off.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Our metric for success in relationships has always been based
- 30:00Speaker 2: on what we see everyone else do.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And I'm like evident of that. You look at your
- 30:05Speaker 1: parents and you think, oh they do that, it must
- 30:07Speaker 1: be good, or you look at other couples and you think,
- 30:09Speaker 1: oh they do that and it must be good. And
- 30:12Speaker 1: for me, it all started I think in year like
- 30:15Speaker 1: you were talking about, this is a bit of your
- 30:16Speaker 1: deep thought year nine or ten get back there. Mate
- 30:21Speaker 1: with my first girlfriend, tell me if you relate, and
- 30:23Speaker 1: I would judge how well things were doing based on
- 30:26Speaker 1: the couples around us. I was like, why are we
- 30:28Speaker 1: sleeping over? Why don't we talk every night? I haven't
- 30:31Speaker 1: met her parents yet? Like are we good or not?
- 30:34Speaker 1: And I was judging it purely off the fact of,
- 30:37Speaker 1: like everyone around me not actually being present with this
- 30:39Speaker 1: person and figuring out how our relationship worked. I am guilty. Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I think everybody is, honestly. And let's take a step further.
- 30:47Speaker 1: What is your immediate thought if I told you that
- 30:50Speaker 1: my girl maybe not the first one, but see see
- 30:52Speaker 1: what you think? What do you think when I tell
- 30:54Speaker 1: you my girlfriend and I are sleeping in different rooms,
- 30:57Speaker 1: or we don't plan to live together in the future,
- 31:00Speaker 1: or we don't really have sex that much? The first
- 31:03Speaker 1: one all for the second one? Weird, third one weird. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:08Speaker 1: your immediate thought is that it's weird because or we're
- 31:11Speaker 1: having some type of issue, because that's the preconception everyone
- 31:14Speaker 1: has on relationship. You guys don't have sex, you guys
- 31:16Speaker 1: must have a fucking problem. Right, yeah, right, there's like
- 31:18Speaker 1: a number this many times a week we've talked about
- 31:21Speaker 1: it man, Yeah, yeah, yeah, And we don't think that
- 31:24Speaker 1: because we're not open minded. It's because we're taught to
- 31:27Speaker 1: have this preconception from a young age that those sort
- 31:30Speaker 1: of signs are signs of a relationship falling apart. While
- 31:34Speaker 1: it can be, but that's not always the case. Relationship
- 31:38Speaker 1: experts say one of the biggest barriers couples face are
- 31:41Speaker 1: their own expectations. When we compare ourselves to the social norms,
- 31:46Speaker 1: we begin to develop resentment towards our partner or opposite
- 31:50Speaker 1: end feel guilty for coming up short in the relationship.
- 31:53Speaker 1: So it's going on social media. You'll think, like, your
- 31:57Speaker 1: boyfriend doesn't get do enough things, and then you start
- 31:59Speaker 1: to sent him because you're comparing your boyfriend to these
- 32:02Speaker 1: beautiful people on Instagram who get them their girlfriend flowers
- 32:04Speaker 1: every single day. Or you think, oh, I'm not enough,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I'm not as pretty as those girls because you're comparing
- 32:08Speaker 1: yourself all the time. So maybe is rejecting everything you
- 32:14Speaker 1: know about good relationships the key to having a good one.
- 32:18Speaker 1: What do you think.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Everything you know about is it like quote unquote good
- 32:23Speaker 2: that type of good relationships?
- 32:25Speaker 1: Fuck? You know, I wouldn't be I'd be open to try.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And so we often talk about comparison as the thief
- 32:30Speaker 1: of joy on here, and we will always recently have
- 32:33Speaker 1: talked about how someone's body count can define them even
- 32:36Speaker 1: if you didn't know them beforehand. This sort of combines
- 32:39Speaker 1: both solutions to form like a bigger idea. Dating is
- 32:44Speaker 1: about opening up to a person, the person in front
- 32:47Speaker 1: of you, being completely present, leaving your relationship preconceptions and
- 32:51Speaker 1: judgment at the door, and figuring out the relationship that
- 32:54Speaker 1: works for you, for you both and no one else,
- 32:58Speaker 1: rather than trying to change them into the preconception that
- 33:02Speaker 1: you think is good at dating, embracing their differences and
- 33:06Speaker 1: stop trying to relate to everyone else on your phone
- 33:10Speaker 1: and find your own journey and just maybe there might
- 33:13Speaker 1: be a little bit of weight lifted from your shoulders
- 33:15Speaker 1: when dating fuck And the other takeaway is also this
- 33:19Speaker 1: is where I think we're guilty maybe giving dilemmas, but
- 33:22Speaker 1: more so in our friendships. The other takeaway is to
- 33:26Speaker 1: not relay your preconceptions about relationships onto your friends. I'm
- 33:31Speaker 1: completely guilty of doing it, so you don't know what's
- 33:35Speaker 1: working for them in their relationship behind closed doors. So
- 33:37Speaker 1: who's to say that. I think my normal is what
- 33:39Speaker 1: you should be doing. And like I've maybe hindered some
- 33:43Speaker 1: relationships in the past because I'm thinking, no, you should
- 33:45Speaker 1: be having sex three times a week, or no, that's
- 33:47Speaker 1: weird that you guys don't talk every night, and I
- 33:49Speaker 1: voice those things, and really that's making that relationship work
- 33:52Speaker 1: because I don't know what their relationships like. So and
- 33:55Speaker 1: just to end on, here's a couple points that we
- 33:57Speaker 1: constantly bring up on the pod, which I think applies
- 34:00Speaker 1: to only you, and the relationship really knows if it's
- 34:04Speaker 1: going to work or not. And like what us or
- 34:07Speaker 1: anyone else says, really is just open, open, open minded,
- 34:12Speaker 1: take take it as you will. So body count do
- 34:15Speaker 1: what you want. Last the last name debate if a
- 34:19Speaker 1: girl should take guys last name who cares? Do whatever
- 34:22Speaker 1: you think is right in your relationships? Who's care train
- 34:25Speaker 1: as well? Early on in the POT I wasn't and
- 34:27Speaker 1: then we got a sick email that changed my mind.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Did I not change your mind?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Nah? Posting your partner on social media? You want to
- 34:35Speaker 2: do it, you don't want to do it, It doesn't matter,
- 34:37Speaker 2: do whatever you want. It's a point how often should
- 34:39Speaker 2: you have sex as much as.
- 34:41Speaker 1: You want, as little as you want. Exactly when should
- 34:44Speaker 1: you say I love you? Like, is there any timeframe
- 34:46Speaker 1: you should say it? No, say when you feel it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Drop drop your preconceptions about any of these things. And
- 34:52Speaker 1: the last one is we often talk about it. We
- 34:53Speaker 1: don't think long distance should work, which I personally stand by,
- 34:56Speaker 1: but like I don't know your relationship. Yeah, but it's
- 34:59Speaker 1: like you just you probably have a pretty good idea
- 35:02Speaker 1: that you don't think it'll work for you for me. Yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 1: that's what all this advice is about. And I think
- 35:06Speaker 1: it's really important to like step back and realize that
- 35:09Speaker 1: no one knows you, and no one knows your partner
- 35:12Speaker 1: better than you two. So all these expectations you have
- 35:14Speaker 1: about when someone should get engaged, when someone should say
- 35:17Speaker 1: I love you, anything like that, Like, who gives a
- 35:20Speaker 1: fuck as long as you're happy. Yeah, Like that's all
- 35:23Speaker 1: the matters that you and your partner figure it out
- 35:25Speaker 1: together what works for you.
- 35:27Speaker 2: It is tough, and I wonder how do you catch yourself?
- 35:30Speaker 2: Like I obviously social media is huge for that because.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I think that's why it's so prominent now is because
- 35:39Speaker 1: you can compare yourself so much on social media. Yeah,
- 35:42Speaker 1: and if it would be like.
- 35:45Speaker 2: You don't want to air dirty laundry on social media
- 35:47Speaker 2: because like some stuff you want to keep private, but like,
- 35:51Speaker 2: do you think it would be is it healthy to
- 35:55Speaker 2: be honest?
- 35:56Speaker 1: And like, let's say you.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Like you had a fight with your girlfriend, do you
- 36:01Speaker 2: just like not for do you for a while just
- 36:03Speaker 2: like not post him if you're the type of couple
- 36:05Speaker 2: to post or something like that, like or do you
- 36:06Speaker 2: be like, yeah, I actually got to find my girlfriend
- 36:09Speaker 2: last night.
- 36:09Speaker 1: This is what it was about. This was her argument,
- 36:12Speaker 1: This was my argument.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I ended up believing I was wrong and just want
- 36:16Speaker 2: to let everyone know that nobody's perfect and like you know,
- 36:18Speaker 2: people can argue and shit and get over it.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Well, I think step one is obviously to only listen
- 36:25Speaker 1: to what's in your relationship. But step two is remember
- 36:28Speaker 1: when you came to me and said, your girlfriend, Beth
- 36:31Speaker 1: is the happiest a girlfriend has ever made you, and yes,
- 36:33Speaker 1: so contempt with it and happy. Yeah, and you wanted
- 36:37Speaker 1: me to know that, Yeah, just in case in the
- 36:39Speaker 1: future there was a fight or something and I'm obviously
- 36:41Speaker 1: going to pick your side. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just
- 36:42Speaker 1: wanted me to know that she's the happiest anyone is out.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like I need if I ever, I'm coming
- 36:46Speaker 2: to you like fucking ow Beth beIN saying you just
- 36:48Speaker 2: be like, don't remember that one time you told me?
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel like though. Step two is as the
- 36:54Speaker 1: person not in a relationship, because everyone's friends talk about
- 36:57Speaker 1: their relationship issues, rather than me saying, I don't know,
- 37:00Speaker 1: maybe Beth is on your back about I don't know
- 37:03Speaker 1: something something so that you put the toilet seat down. Yeah,
- 37:06Speaker 1: you let the seat down. There's a classic example that
- 37:08Speaker 1: doesn't really matter. But then rather than me saying like, no,
- 37:12Speaker 1: it doesn't matter, like all the couples leave the toilet
- 37:14Speaker 1: seat down, yeah, I say like, oh, I'm more open
- 37:17Speaker 1: minded response yeah, rather than coming at it from what
- 37:21Speaker 1: I think is right. Step two like the person who's
- 37:24Speaker 1: not in a relationship, rather than putting my what I
- 37:26Speaker 1: think is right onto you just thinking like the open
- 37:29Speaker 1: minded like, well, I see where that's coming from. Maybe
- 37:31Speaker 1: you should like, I don't know, figure it out for her.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just not that put a sign up. Just
- 37:35Speaker 2: remember to put a toilet set down. It's not that hard.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Yeah. And then also if you come to me, I'm
- 37:39Speaker 1: always not going to pick your side because I'm your friend. Like,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I'm coming at it from an open minded mindset because
- 37:44Speaker 1: I don't know what's in your relationship and why she
- 37:46Speaker 1: likes having the toilet set up so much. Yeah, like
- 37:49Speaker 1: there could be a deeper underlying reason. Obviously classic example,
- 37:52Speaker 1: but yeah, no, it's yeah, that's one that you know
- 37:54Speaker 1: that so should be a very solvable one.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but like I am the king, if I ever
- 38:00Speaker 2: ever am asked for advice, I think I say what
- 38:04Speaker 2: I think is right, but I back it up with
- 38:07Speaker 2: it's just what I think.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Is that kind of maybe? Is it like right?
- 38:13Speaker 2: Maybe should the words the words shouldn't be like this
- 38:14Speaker 2: is what I think the words should be, Like, oh,
- 38:17Speaker 2: you know, I did. I mean, I feel like I
- 38:20Speaker 2: try and look at things from both sides a lot
- 38:21Speaker 2: of the time, but I definitely I end I know
- 38:24Speaker 2: what I know, what I do.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I end so many things with that's I think that
- 38:29Speaker 1: is my opinion. Now let that be what you think.
- 38:31Speaker 2: They don't fucking don't make a decision and then come
- 38:34Speaker 2: blame me if it's the wrong one.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I think that's good to a certain extent because some
- 38:37Speaker 1: people are like what's the saying like they'll die on
- 38:40Speaker 1: the hill with their morals? Some people will die on
- 38:42Speaker 1: a hill. A yeah, I've never understood that. I think
- 38:45Speaker 1: it's rather where you both come from, like an open
- 38:47Speaker 1: minded standpoint, those sort of people to appreciate where someone
- 38:52Speaker 1: else is coming from, rather than dying on their hill.
- 38:55Speaker 1: What is it hill that you're willing to die on?
- 38:58Speaker 1: Maybe that's something we should like get better at, Like
- 39:01Speaker 1: we're so open minded and easily changeable. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 39:06Speaker 1: what's something I'm like? I wonder?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Well, Okay, I think there is one hill that we're
- 39:10Speaker 2: both willing to die on that we agree on. Maybe
- 39:12Speaker 2: we should come to next week and okay, okay, okay.
- 39:16Speaker 2: First of all, the hill that we're willing to die
- 39:17Speaker 2: together that we wouldn't I think we're both going to
- 39:19Speaker 2: die on a week on? Is that we for one,
- 39:23Speaker 2: we think a guy and a girl can be friends.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Don't take this out of context, but they can't be
- 39:28Speaker 2: best friends.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I've done that Hill's hill we're willing to die on.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'm willing to tumble down that.
- 39:36Speaker 2: But maybe we should try and actually come next week
- 39:39Speaker 2: with we should start it off with we have three
- 39:42Speaker 2: things that we both like, don't talk about it beforehand.
- 39:44Speaker 2: So I come with three hills I'm willing to die on,
- 39:46Speaker 2: and you come with three you'll will to die on.
- 39:48Speaker 2: And doesn't matter what topic right, and we'll try it
- 39:52Speaker 2: to die. There's a ninety nine percent chance we're going
- 39:54Speaker 2: to agree on all six. But if we don't, that's
- 39:57Speaker 2: an interesting thing. I've got one that you going to
- 40:00Speaker 2: die to. Abortion should just be legal and up to
- 40:02Speaker 2: the mum.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I mean that's yeah, that's want I think. Yeah, yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 1: I'm pro choice, like pro your body, your choice. Yeah,
- 40:09Speaker 1: that's another hill. Yeah, more like personal life. I want
- 40:13Speaker 1: to think of some like they don't need to be edgy.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I just want to be like, what's something that I
- 40:17Speaker 2: think that I don't think everyone's going to think?
- 40:19Speaker 1: Mm yeah, okay, I reckon. We could come up. Yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 1: that's a good one for next Monday. Let's write that down. Okay.
- 40:32Speaker 2: I've got I just have one question, proposition for you
- 40:36Speaker 2: to finish us off today.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Love a good proposition.
- 40:38Speaker 2: So the proposition is going to cost about five hundred
- 40:41Speaker 2: dollars of relatables bunny technically O money, okay, okay, recently,
- 40:50Speaker 2: I know it's for the taxman.
- 40:53Speaker 1: It's for the tax man. We're gonna were gonna look
- 40:55Speaker 1: bad on paper, Okay.
- 40:56Speaker 2: But so my sister has done it, and I've always
- 41:00Speaker 2: wanted to do it because so you know what twenty
- 41:02Speaker 2: three and me is no. Twenty three and me. You
- 41:06Speaker 2: go in, you buy a kit, we would get two.
- 41:08Speaker 2: It's about so it's like one hundred and twenty nine
- 41:10Speaker 2: USD for each one, okay.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Like what club type of kit you buy?
- 41:14Speaker 2: Like it's a little box, comes in, swab your mouth
- 41:17Speaker 2: and then you send it back and they test your
- 41:18Speaker 2: DNA and they tell you everything about everything, Oh, where
- 41:22Speaker 2: you're from, like a family trade, Like it's like yeah,
- 41:24Speaker 2: it's about like your yeah, or it's like ancestry, but
- 41:27Speaker 2: it's more like like all your heritage where you're from,
- 41:31Speaker 2: like lineage, like you know, like you might have someone
- 41:34Speaker 2: like you might have ties that link back to like
- 41:36Speaker 2: point zero one percent of like Jamaica, like something random,
- 41:39Speaker 2: you know. And I just find it because I was
- 41:41Speaker 2: shits and Gigs did it, yeah, and I was listening
- 41:43Speaker 2: and I was like, fuck, that's interesting, and I know
- 41:45Speaker 2: that mine's interesting, and I know you think yours isn't.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I was about to say, I feel like there's gonna
- 41:50Speaker 1: be the biggest letdown for mine. But I know you
- 41:52Speaker 1: think yours isn't. But I have a I reckon, like
- 41:54Speaker 1: there's something in there. So where's the five hundred dollars
- 41:57Speaker 1: come from? One? Twenty nine? So it's on usd each? Okay,
- 42:01Speaker 1: that's about two so that's about yeah, so it's a
- 42:04Speaker 1: little bit but okay, it'd be cool. I've always thought
- 42:08Speaker 1: those things were a little bit iffy, really, like how
- 42:11Speaker 1: do they know? Like realistic? How far I come from?
- 42:14Speaker 1: Like realistically? Like I don't particularly agree with that though, really,
- 42:19Speaker 1: Like I reckon that is pulling fucking numbers out of
- 42:20Speaker 1: a computer some surely yeah and stuff.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Joanne has done it, yeah, and I was like when
- 42:29Speaker 2: she did hers, I.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Was like, oh, well, now I know mine. But siblings
- 42:33Speaker 1: aren't the same. See that goes back to my computer theory.
- 42:36Speaker 1: How are we not the same?
- 42:38Speaker 2: But no, Sometimes it's like sometimes the daughter can look
- 42:41Speaker 2: keeps like the mum.
- 42:43Speaker 1: It's still have nothing like the dad, but you still
- 42:44Speaker 1: have the same DNA DNA.
- 42:46Speaker 2: But you don't, like you actually pull more from one.
- 42:49Speaker 2: So it's like you brother don't have the same DNA.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But in my head like we still have the same DNA,
- 42:54Speaker 1: but that was just more prominent and overpowered that one. Yeah,
- 42:58Speaker 1: but then you wouldn't have the same DNA anyway, I'm
- 43:00Speaker 1: down to do it. Yeah, okay, either way, but yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 1: we'll see. So you don't know if you fully believe it. No,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I reckon, it's bullshitgon, it's a money grab. One hundred
- 43:08Speaker 1: and twenty nine dollars, two hundred dollars. Surely there's one
- 43:11Speaker 1: in Australia that does it. Maybe, yeah, but yeah, do
- 43:14Speaker 1: some research and do it. I reckon, it's a massive
- 43:16Speaker 1: money grack. I'm going to order too, and one hundred percent.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Why does that cost two hundred dollars? I don't know.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Scientists they get paid a lot. Go read the five
- 43:27Speaker 1: print and see what the fire print says. You'll probably
- 43:29Speaker 1: say like, this isn't accurate at all. Oh yeah, no, no, no,
- 43:34Speaker 1: I believe it. I believe in it.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Yeah, let's do it, all right, everybody, Thank you for listening.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Once again. You know what to do.
- 43:47Speaker 1: End of the year. Can you please leave us a
