Voters in Israel are participating in the first
• 0:10
election for Prime Minister since the attack
• 0:12
in October 2023 and subsequent war in Gaza. As
• 0:17
of now, the race is highly contested and split
• 0:19
evenly between Benjamin Netanyahu and former
• 0:21
military chief Gadi Eisenkot. Neither of their
• 0:25
political blocs are projected to win the 61 seats
• 0:28
needed to form a majority government. Israel's
• 0:31
  proportional representation system means that
• 0:33
governments have always been composed of coalitions
• 0:36
of parties allied together. Eisenkot represents
• 0:39
the Yishar Party, which is a coalition that shares
• 0:42
the goal of ousting Netanyahu, though they have
• 0:45
  different ideologies amongst themselves. According
• 0:49
to CalMatters, public pushback has been swift
• 0:52
over the use of municipal police drones. Law
• 0:55
enforcement agencies are asking to broaden drone
• 0:57
usage beyond emergency -only responses to aid
• 1:00
in everyday patrols. Citizens are concerned about
• 1:04
the possibility of drones conducting warrantless
• 1:06
searches. Specifically, the San Francisco Police
• 1:09
Department is asking city commissioners to approve
• 1:12
drones in capacities like public safety response
• 1:15
and community outreach. Critics point to the
• 1:18
controversy already in place regarding license
• 1:21
plate reading cameras and argue that drones go
• 1:23
much further into questionable legal territory.
• 1:27
An Oregon public broadcasting reports that the
• 1:29
businesses around Pacific Seafood have been reopened
• 1:32
after Sunday's fire. The cause of the fire is
• 1:35
still being investigated, but the ammonia tank
• 1:37
inside the burned building, which was used for
• 1:39
freezing fish, was not punctured, as originally
• 1:42
feared. That building also appears to have been
• 1:45
the only one damaged in the fire. This has been
