Latest / 3 Yards Per Carry - Miami Dolphins / 3YPC-The Low Redzone Episode 1.7
Transcript
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm in Tennessee and as always my special guest car cramps from A to Z sport.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: How are you my friend?
- 0:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing great.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_02]: We got free agency up and running.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_02]: So kind of this draft landscape is start to come into higher resolution.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's really fun to see where the chess pieces are different than they were a week ago at this time.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: absolutely and great way to say great into what we're going to do because we're going to look this week at how free agency is potentially sort of changed that first round market.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: We also had some significant pro days this week as well and if we've got time we'll bring your prospects a week lot to get into so let's try straight in.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: with free agency that may, and specifically as it pertains to the top 10, I think, you know, and you know, we'll try and cover off a few other interesting things in the top 20 and maybe even a possible trade involving Super Bowl champions.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: But the rate has been quite the weekend, in St. C, I suppose with the trade that never was with Max Prozbee, it looks like Cosby's going to stain our wrath of defensive players with Nicoby Dean and Quay Walker and those guys, we know it's going to be barring some absolutely miracle.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be Fernando Mendoza.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, they'd moved to protect that really porous offensive line to help as soon as you bring in Island in the bound.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: But, there's more work to do, isn't there?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: Right, tackle and at least one of the guards spot.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: So you'd imagine John Spitech obviously not in the first round, but coming hard after Lyman on day two.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's part of the bummer about the Crosby trade falling through is because you looked at what they potentially could have had at 14 to go offensive line and play in front of Fernando and you really felt like you could could have a lot of done a lot of damage with that one to punch so.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: They're kind of in that awkward spot now where, you know, one's not negotiable, what makes it to you at the beginning of the second round.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I'd stay patient, you know, they get a lot of work to do.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: So get the quarterback, the free agency landing of Linderbaum.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously a massive contract that kind of rewrites a lot of what the interior line offensive conversations that are had around the Ligar.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, tackle money.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just call it what it is.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: And the Ravens declined his fifth year option because
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: It was tackle money and they didn't want to give them tackle money and then they turned down the franchise tag because it was tackle money and the Raiders said, we got no problem giving you tackle money.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's the really interesting part about what the Raiders did was not how it changes the picks, but how they have now done a lot of into your offensive linemen around the league a great service because any contract negotiation now,
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: starts to $27 million.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: It probably won't be there very long, but it will start there because that contract exists.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we know as Miami Dolphins fans, we've got an open-center in Iran Brewer.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a contract coming up at the end of the year and for him, you know, I imagine big smiles on the face of him and his agent and I'm not so much for the generic Sullivan.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: A billion percent.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: That 14 pick is interesting, isn't it?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: Because the removal of that sort of takes them out, as you mentioned, you know, potentially, you know, Spencer Fayner, Vega, Joana, Monro freely, although he seems to be somebody who's rising, you know, quite a lot, but it certainly takes them out of that conversation, doesn't it?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it does, and, you know, I think some of the names that you mentioned, we're going to get here into the, the middle 10 picks of the first round, and I think some of those names are going to start being applicable based on some of the moves, I think about Cleveland, it's six, right, and credit to Cleveland, I think they've done a better job that their entire offensive line was expiring contracts.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think they've done a better job in two weeks than what the Texans have been trying to do for two years.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: They're offensive line and rebuild the whole thing, right?
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like Houston last year with the tonsil trade and they bring in Trent Brown and they bring in all these guys and it didn't really work although I think they did find something with Ed Ingram at guard and they've obviously resigned him.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: But Cleveland, the trade for Titus Howard, who was ironically from Texan in a part of this year, Susan Texans tear down on the offensive line.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: uh... that they bring in Elden Jenkins as a cut uh... to help play center that they bring back tevin Jenkins and then they they signs i on johnson to play the left guard for them i think if they wanted to do the finishing touches and draft monro freely at six
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: I really like that full reshaped offensive line and obviously with an offensive line of coach with Todd Monkey coming in I think they could make a ton of sense.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: But I was impressed with what they've done because they were a limited resource team from a cap space perspective and they've done well for themselves in that regard I think.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and there's still obviously got their own Jones, that the Ohio State kid who played some left tackle before he got injured, we were going to kind of go in order one to four, but as you kind of want to tense right, as Steve kind of just touched on the grounds there.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: The roster generally though is still a mess for the browser and I don't think they took any of the options off the table that were there beforehand and I think your freedom point is absolutely you know you could absolutely see that being the landing spot for for this kid who seems to have I suppose pushed his way to the top of the power almost in terms of some of the conversation some of the whispers that we're having post combined just in terms of his upside and his size but also the fact that you know he is a you know.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: He could play right tackle, but I think he's featured on the left side, right?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's it's where the I thought the the best flashes.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, this year came for him and I think he you look at all the other guys.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you got Maui Noah's a right tackle player.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: You think about.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Spencer Fano played it right tackle, you know, having that good left tackle tape.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think if you're all if you put all those guys in the same tier and bucket,
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think the body of work this year being left tackle for the vast majority of teams that being their blind side protector, I think that's a huge notch in his belt.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: We'll come back to the browse because I've got a caveat question for you.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: When we get there, the jets number two, they've signed a lot of players, especially on defense.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: They shall write, they'd belt them, they'd build on your mouth, the Demiodevis, a couple of edge rashes in Kings the Annabare and Joseph aside.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if it's Patrick, they'll obviously trade it for, to wander a sweat, they traded for, and then offensively, Gino Smith and Dylan
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue, are there even with Wilmot Donald and a barra right outside?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're still a kind of headline past Russia sure, aren't they?
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think in looking at it and I suppose you got David Bailey, you've got Ruben Bay, you've got Alva Ries 3, very different prospects all playing the same position, essentially.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: They could be a good trade-down option if somebody did fall in love with a particular player.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Perhaps a Reese or a Bailey, and I know we don't talk a lot about top 10 trades
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: The class doesn't feel as strong as, say, potentially next year, but you look at their corner back room, which I was doing this morning, where I was putting the script together and stuff, even with the addition and additional right, it isn't great in a division where they play Josh Allen and Drake may and now Malik Willis.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I think the jet might be a possible team who could trade down if somebody just falls in love with the guy, they just don't think he's going to get to seven or ten or third or whatever it is.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the challenge not just with the jets, but projecting trades in general is how does the perception of the class help.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now the good news is being at number two.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: You have as good a chance as any because it's the first non quarterback pick to come off the board and if somebody wants to declare themselves for that, but I think what you would need is you would need a team that has a general distaste for what the rest of the players that are going to be available with where their picks are looks like because that's not going to be a cheap trade unless you're in 2013 where Miami went from 12 to three.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: for 42 overall.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: And that was that was the cost, right?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like some currency gets super cheap to do trades if you stay within the same year because they don't like the class.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: So for New York, I still really like any one of the past rush options for them.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: I low key would really love if they decided to take sunny styles too, just because I think he's one of the best few players in the class.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: They signed the Mario Davis, but beyond that, it's, it's Jamie and Sherwood and Kiko Mauiola and Marcelo McCreary ball or like these are the linebackers that we're talking about.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: There's a long-term cornerstone place to be had there.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: If you choose not to go with our bell Reese or David Bailey or whichever marquee pass rusher you decide is the one that you like the best.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of like, especially because they're so.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: pick heavy already.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of like you have to just stay and get a blue chip player.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: And Mark, this is 37 as well as it's like there's going to be a succession panel at some point.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the Mario's kind of been an ageless one or, but when that that wall comes, it came last year for Levante David.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: And Levante was like an ageless one.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_02]: And then last year you saw it.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, okay, yeah, we've kind of reached that time.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: And that could happen at any point now for tomorrow
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: Arizona 0.03, it feels like the March for Arch is absolutely on an effort zone, a lot of tier sort of tier 3 tier 4 signings save for the Tyler Algeer who joins and already kind of busy running back room when you look at the Resign Band Night, you've got, they brought back James Conner, Robinson still there, et cetera.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I call that room of Jacobe Brissette and
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't get you particularly infused if you're a Cardinals fan.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: They still got holes everywhere, right tackle, wide receiver, edge defensive tackle, linebacker.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a case for the Cardinals of matching best player available with any one of those five needs wherever it lands?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: Probably, I think the only thing I'd definitively strike off now is I think you could probably put the Jeremiah love.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: In the bed where they they reworked the James Connor contract, they they sign Tyler else year in free agency to a not nothing burger contract.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: And then they go out and they get another damn night who was with Michael a fler with the jets.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: They brought him into.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: So they've.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: added to and reworked one that's a several 1,000 yard russia running backs in the span of the first three days of the lead year like they're probably not in play for running back and I think that's probably a smart thing for what the state of the roster is.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, pick four belongs to the Titans as we know.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: They spent a hundred and five million this week on a long titaler and cordale flop from the Giants.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: On a they signed John Franklin Myers to pay where Gap's Timons, which is a, you know, a tasty a tidy inside combo there.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: Then one Dell Robinson to play in the slot and if you can stay healthy, obviously that's a, you know, a real help for, for Cam Ward.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a limit for them as is safety and as is why I'd receive her as we've touched upon previously on this show card, but you know you want to try and help your franchise court about your form and number one pick get better and to do that and put good players around it.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: It could this be the first
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: opportunity for us to see a wide receiver come off the board.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: And it kind of feels like there's a two any question.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of feels like in the run up the con mine and post con mine that Jordan Tyson's overall stock has begun to depreciate just a little bit.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder whether that's a happenstance because of the injuries and and maybe subconsciously teams of not subconsciously the teams of obviously been got on a hold of the medical information they've had him in and
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: bleeding through the back corridors of, of draft as it were.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think there are really interesting team because I do think a wide receiver would make a ton of sense.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't love the fit of the value of any of those players at number four.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: Any of them.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I wouldn't really love the fit of any of those players in the top 10 with how I personally have them graded.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: they've got enough needs on defense uh... where you you look at you mentioned the edge rush a room and you know kind of it they've done some work there with franklin mires and germane johnson and they bring in jake of martin and solman commas can play inside outside
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: So you very clearly see like, okay, like, we've got some alignment versatility.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: We've infused some players that kind of know what the deal is with Robert Sala.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: I dig that.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Are they a sunny style spot?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: I know Cedric Gray was a productive linebacker, but the the other spot with Cody Barton.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see anything that would prevent me from if you want the Fred Warner type player.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: So any styles has that athletic profile.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying he's Fred Warner, but
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would make a ton of sense for them.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think one of the past rushers would make a ton of sense for them.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think you could probably talk me into them being a Jeremiah love landing spot as well.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then maybe with that early second round pick, maybe you're aggressive to go up into the end of the first round.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: And if you like, if you've got big time convictions about like Casey conception, who I've heard that they like, like, go do that instead of forcing a wider receiver pick at four.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's still hard for me to, and we discussed this two or three weeks, so it's still hard for me to not think the Robert Sala and Sunny Stars wouldn't be a match made in heaven, give it a history with Fred Warner, right?
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: That just feels like as such a natural fit.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Pick five as the Giants.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Giants made some interesting moves this week, obviously, Isaiah Lackley and Greg Newsome and Arderius Washington and Calvin Austin.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I do wonder if Styles makes it past Tennessee.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder whether or not the signing of Tramaine Edmunds this week from Chicago.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Might change the draft board for them.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: And would you, could you make an argument that Washington and Javanol Holland,
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: removes the possibility or lessens the possibility potentially if gated down and now brings a wide receiver really into play, especially after losing one relevance and to Tennessee to help your, just, just second year call about and to pair with a recovering elite neighbors.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know that it does, but just because
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: you have this other spot at linebacker where you can look at when San Francisco was really special.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: They had Werner and Greenlaw.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: They had two absolute dogs.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: The the 2023 Ravens had Rokuan Smith and Patrick we.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the great defenses have two really dynamic players there.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: And boy, you have a hard time finding a more dynamic pair than what Tremaine Evans still is even if he wasn't an 18 million dollar your linebacker like you shine to be in Chicago.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then sunny styles like the athleticism size length of those two players.
- 15:11[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's tough.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: We a lot of fun.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of fun.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that should absolutely be in play for them.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then the safety stuff, you know, they didn't, this coaching staff it.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anybody's going to dispute the John Harball ultimately has a final say right yeah it's and I know Joe Shane gave the contract to Javan Holland and was there to draft Tyler new but this I mean they brought in a new performance executive expert they brought in a whole bunch of folks from Baltimore yeah coaches personnel.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'd say it's no holds bar in as far as you know that that Holland contract is big and it was going to be hard one to live up to and he didn't live up he didn't play to that level is last few years in Miami and I don't think you played to that level last year in New York so that that for me would be a not for long type situation if the giants end up getting momentum and start turning this thing around I'd be looking at that one.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I would say, you know, those are two true best player available options in the back seven that I think make a ton of sense for the giants.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think you can make a really strong argument for styles of four and downs at five in part because of obviously no talent, but also in part because of the familiarity of coaching staff with similar players IE Fred Warner with Robert Sala and something styles of four and then I know that obviously lengthwise size wise uniqueness wise Kyle Hamilton and Caleb down's not the same person, but you can do an awful lot with downs who's still an outstanding football player.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: vis-à-vis John Harbour and the relationship with Hamilton and how he played on that Baltimore defense, right?
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's beyond the realms of possibly.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think so.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're dead on a hundred percent.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: We touched on the Browns earlier.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to throw in a kind of a second, you know, put your on the spot here a second element to this.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Tyson some was very interesting on Cairden's show.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they outlining the strength of this relationship with Todd Monkin.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns just shocked the absolute world and take that kid here.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, when was the last time we had a real stunner of a, you know, because everybody knows what's happening, the the death of kind of inside us and everybody having the kind of the
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: that's subtly break the news on air before the pick comes in because we know what it is, but not really break the news, but like really lean towards us being incredible inside us, like we know everything.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: When was the last time we had a real, actually puncture in the face, stunner of a first round pick?
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying that the Tyson's words were the six central, was pennies the last one that like dropped your
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: So, and that's similar type scenario, right?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like, cool.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: The Browns, you know, it would, it's perceived to be a little early.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: They've, they've got two player quarterbacks that they drafted last year, with obviously the, just, they're running out the shot clock with the Sean Watson to get them off the roster and that'll be done after this year and then they'll post you in first of next year and split the dead cap.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is probably,
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: They would, the Browns would be smart to try to tease interest in ty Simpson, even if, if they don't have interest in ty Simpson, they should be posturing that they should.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: They should be presenting themselves as that threat so that, you know, because their, their second first round pit comes later courtesy of Jacksonville and the success that Jacksonville had.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: this would be your spot to coax is either jet sky is he the stealers long term guy is is there somebody else out there did the rams want to do the rams want to come up from 13 if they think he's there guy after staffer right like that spot at six is the spot to posture and I think they'd be foolish
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: And drive up, there's very few spots where you're going to be able to create demand.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: If your perceived as the threat there, is there a shot that they take him?
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, if if if if him and Monkin hit it off, I don't think you can dismiss it.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think Simpsons done well for himself in the pre-draft process so far.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do too.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it would be one, it would be great.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love, you know, it's great when you don't have to listen to Ian Rappell telling you who's going to happen before the commissioner gets the podium and something like that.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: The pennies, there's a great, there's a great recall actually.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: That pennies, it was fantastic.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Devon is the commanders, okay, and that I kind of feel like they,
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: pretty much took the number one need of the board when they signed a defa-o-o big contract but they also added Caleb on chase on who had a strong year last year with the with the Patriots down the stretch Charles and many who has done work previously with the 49ers of cheese.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: So there's places they that they could go but actually to me there's a free agent loss that in my opinion might be most keen and that thing was camp curl.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: who went back to the Rams, I think one of the more underrated players in football, moved around the formation a lot last year, 58, 0.6% of his steps at free safety, 26.3% in the box, 10.3% in the slot according to PFF.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: And it makes you wonder, you know, if Caleb Downs does get past that peak that we just talked about with the Giants of 5, would feel like a perfect landing spot given the situation on the back end with the commanders now.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're they're an interesting team for me, just because I looked at what Washington had as a franchise and what their issues were last year, particularly on defense and I thought they were kind of stale on the back on on the defense side of the ball like you you are missing some athleticism and then their moves come out and they.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: they give a big-time contract to Oda Thailway, they sign leotional, they get a replacement for Cam Coro with Knit Cross and I like that fit.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I'm looking at the front and I'm like,
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, we just had a bunch of heavy handed guys that didn't feel like we had any twitch.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I chase on's a nice signing for them, but they added a many hue, away, and chase on.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, okay, we still have the same archetype here.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to get some explosiveness up front in the front for them.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_02]: So is this a the David Bailey spot is this where Ruben Bane can maybe give you a little bit of the best of both worlds where he obviously has the heavy hands, but there's a different skill set that's at play around it.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: but also who did Dan Quinn have him in Dallas in terms of skillset and I'm not saying that Arvel Reese is my capacitance, but in terms of that pure skill set, the heavy handedness, that there are some similarities there that are obvious.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it would make a lot of sense, right?
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a few coaches I would trust to individually get the best version of Arvel than the Dan Quinn.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a great point.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great point.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: The Saints, I feel like the Saints have got their franchise caught up back in Tala Shaka, thought you prayed really well down the stretch last year.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: And really, the only thing I think New Orleans did that was draft word, he was remove Jeremiah Love from the equation, because they signed Travis E.T.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: into the contract that they did.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Would you agree that all of a sudden Jeremiah Love, who might be, you could argue, is the best player pound for pound, second best player pound for pound on in the entire draft?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: is comparatively falling past at least, you know, the second potential landing spot if we count Tennessee at four and then the same here at eight.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: Love would need the giants at five or the Titans at four, because now you're into eight Kansas City, similarly two New Orleans New Orleans gave it to Travis C.T.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_02]: and Kansas City signed Kenneth Walker to like $13 million a year deal.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to go there.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_02]: The chief's
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: If it's not those two last two picks in the top five, I have a hard time finding the spot in the top 10 for Jeremiah love maybe the Bengals is a true best player available would take him I would not really love it relative to what their needs are on defense, but I mean they've been doing that for three years and it hasn't worked out so hard to say do they want to pay chase brown I don't know like maybe Cincinnati, but if it's not four or five I've got a hard time finding the spot in the top 10 I do.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you're right, I think you're right.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: Pick nine, we've got the chiefs much like New Orleans.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think they too probably removed love from the group chat as it were because of the Kenneth Walker deal.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: But to me, obviously, with the Trevor Duffy traits of the Rams, the Los Angeles and Watson, even with the signing of Caterco, who are we thinking more likely now landing spot for our first corner, or is there a
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: possibly where a replacement for Johan Taylor right tackled to protect the stud court back in which case.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now it becomes, you know, as Jerry Moore has healthy and back playing there, but it feels to me like this is, you know, a real potential spot for Jamad McCoy or all that sort of thing.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I love that the lane slotting here is a potential fit.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: Christian fault and as a vet, Caterco who's got inside outside flex.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think no Williams is going to be good player.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously I got a great track record with kind of draft and develop corners.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: I love what they've done afraid and see with both.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Tonga Gilman and Kohu on defense.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: I love those three fits for Spagnolo.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you wanted to really take the trend, make Duffy thing in stride.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, one of the corners and I personally have delaying a lot higher up, you know, we still have to see
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: McCoy work out and do do do a workout right here.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: We are at the middle of March.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: We're saying that That's got some flags up for me, but they could also be quite of a flag for me.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right I also really like the idea of Caleb down's for some some three safety stuff for them too.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like a
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: Temperature setting pick for them.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I like defense overwhelmingly more for them than anything that they're going to draw in offense and most of that's going to be the second year
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think any touch on the Bengals in terms of the possibility of drama I love.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_01]: They lost both Trey Hendricks and anchors in the side, but they sign boy in Maffe, who I think to really solid-player and all facets of the game, but Edge, to me, remains a huge issue for them.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do we feel like that it's last man standing between Bane Reese or Bailey here?
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: probably.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think that probably feels like the the wise thing to do.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I look at what else they have invested and what they have on the offensive side of the ball and we kind of just tease Jeremiah love like maybe is like a wow that's a shocker, but like I could see it.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: But they really are happy with all the rumors of barbers unhappiness, you know, to give him
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: My biggest, my biggest challenge with it is, I don't think there's a team that has a more vanilla scheme with the run game and what they do with, you know, how they like to play personnel and go to them personnel and they, they don't do a lot of, you know, they do a lot of five man protections and they, not a ton of play at Joe Joe likes to read the field like that's for Joe's great, but that comes at a cost for the other menu.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: is it worth putting a top 10 pick and do a running back in that spot and that's the part that I struggle with where I do lean into, hey, best, best available defensive player.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think is where I would advocate for them, still.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: But then do you think there's an element of, you know, at the last few years in terms of the Bengals, you know, first round draft history,
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: you could show us to you at last year.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Emery's memes is obviously getting better and turning into a player, but it took a little while, Mars Murphy has been a struggle.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think Daxton Hills become a much better player than he was, and DJ Turner, that pairing is really nice.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love Turner as a player, but it feels like if you take love there,
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: No, no draft pick is certain, but it feels like a more certain pick for a team that's had some, you know, whiffs shall we say over the last few years.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: Does that end to it in terms of the element?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think you would love to get somebody that you know is going to contribute to your team in your one.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: And they had guys who they drafted like the Beatrice Knight, they drafted high and he played because he had to play, but he didn't play great, right?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where they'll putting those.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: putting players in a position where they're either ready to come in and contribute right away or they can sit and marinate and then come in and play as compared to we're drafting here and drafting you because we need you to play right away is a trap that I think they need to fall into.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I think love would be the kind of like best player available
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I fit and you do have Chase Brown.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you move on from Chase Brown before you pay Chase Brown.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you use that to make a swap of a team strikes out in the draft.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: But then if Sunny Styles is there, too, like I'm not letting Barrett Carter stop me from drafting Sunny Styles.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: Don't let okay or promising get in the way of great.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a part you feel like then come in and beat that kind of answer for you, too.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100%.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: Before we get into the last 10 minutes as a show, I'd just want to essentially just pay some bills.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: I want to tell you about mold core environmental, who are our main sponsor.

- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: So let me tell you somewhere between the first one weekend and realizing short season is getting close.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: I was speaking to Calva for the show and he said something about 15 degrees and that just did not register with my brain.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: It kind of broke it.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: that it's March and it's 15 degrees, wherever he is right now.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: Eating well stops feeling optional.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: Factor factor is how I stopped letting a busy schedule be my excuse.

- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: And now back to Simon.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Ralph.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: Right, just before we get out of here, just a few quick hits on three teams in the talk 20, who've done bits in the first few days of free agency.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: We have a vested interest in the dolphins at 11.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: They've just signed Maliquelis and then essentially a bunch of kind of, generally no name defensive players, all on one year deals pretty much Joshua Chape probably been the guy that most people would know.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: But do you think Willis's signing means 11 is the first landing spot for a guy that we've talked about a bit so far today in Vega, Johanna, just in terms
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you mentioned it there, and I thought it was don't let potential or even good be standing the way of great.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that there's a Jonas Heaven Eye question in terms of a left-guard position where he really struggled at last season.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: Or, you know, a Yawana who can come in and be an absolute, you know, enforcer between A-Rung Guru and Patrick Paul on that left side.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you move seven eye back to the right side.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're clearly keeping Austin Jackson.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: That offensive line feels like it might just come together a bit more
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think the interesting debate for Miami is if Maui Nola and Yolana are both there.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's where, and I do think with all of the,
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: lower accolade signings, it's how I'll choose to phrase it that they've they've done in the last couple days.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't see corner being a pick here.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's like man's toward the lane feels like he's been the chalk big media pick for the dolphins for two months now, three months now, and I don't I don't see it where if talked about wanting to build it from the inside out
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: of competition into this secondary, specifically a corner where they've got these body types that they've been going for.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: But Darrell Baker is 15, 17 starts the last two seasons in Tennessee.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: They do have jujube runs who has a high draft pedigree and good in the games that he played.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: You can't rely on him to stay healthy, but Marco Wilson has some starting experience.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: They have Jason Marshall.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: miles battle, who they signed off the Patriots practice squad earlier to a future's contract.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: They've got Baker, Brents, a signed Alex Austin, Marco Wilson, Jason Marshall, Storm Duck.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's a lot of names.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, you could go with an over the top, coming over the top with a corner.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see it being, they just gave Malekua is $22.5 million a year over the next two years.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: You don't think that they're going to get some investments around him to make sure that they can get a fair accurate end.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: uh, essential assessment of him after his first year, where they're going to potentially if they're not if they struggle and don't play well, they're going to be in a position at draft to quarterback high in 2027.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: If it comes down to it and Willis doesn't play well, they're going to want to know what they have there and they think they do know what they have there, but I think they're going to put that resource in that in helping that investment.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: The ramps up 13, could Matthew Stafford get another weapon, and because McIleman feels a very dumb, very player, but also with him having and playing so much 13 personnel.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Does King Insideek become a significant option to pair with an already strong tight end room?
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: I'd have felt really good about it if they didn't what they they rework Tyler Higgby's deal and figure something new out there so I was surprised that they did that because sedique would have felt like a great spot there.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: I can guarantee you they will be hunting for a splash player that they're looking for a difference maker whether that is like I wouldn't hate Jordan Tyson in this spot because Devante Adams is pretty much just one more year left on his contract.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best available start, isn't it, really?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: It makes me very honest.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think so as I just kind of look at the way that the, their death charts stacks up, it's going to be really hard.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're a hard team to pick a player that says, hey, you're going to come in and start.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_02]: So find a needle moving talent regardless of whether they need they need that position or not and put that into the mix and just let it sort itself out.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and very quickly, the Vikings 18 feels like the most perfect spot for Dilentino and to replace Harrison Smith.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: But you, you, you, takes to me a big announcement this week.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: I've got another side, side, side, side, side messaging term to be finished.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: You're, uh, you finish your analysis of Tino and where did you end up?
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's a, he's a top 12 player for me in this class.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm still doing some finalizing of film grades, but I did not expect to be that high on him.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: And it really stemmed from not the athletic testing, but really pouring into the Purdue stuff.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: We're like it, Oregon, it was some nickel, some three safety, like 2010's big 12, three safety stuff where he's kind of sitting in the middle of field and then just kind of pushing down into a robber roll and being involved in the rump fits and cleaning stuff up.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: But the fact that he has that kind of role and then also the high post safety stuff and the deep half safety stuff that he has from Purdue on his tape, really clean player.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I think it's high past time that we find the Harrison Smith successor in Minnesota.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: And if you were to tell me that's the pick for them, I would love the fit.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: especially for how versatile Brian Flores likes to make his defensive back seven and all the different alignments and far-reaching landmarks that you have to hit to play in that defense.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know you've got a guy out here at the top of the hour, so we'll push out prospects of the week next week and a potential trade involved in the Super Champions, but two very, very, very quick things.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: McIleman ran a 40 and 448 estate at the U.S.E.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: Proday, great time for him.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was expecting high four or five or low four or five, as I should say.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: So like four or five, two was kind of where I guess he'd fall, so getting on some watches in the four fours, I think is a great time for him.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, really good.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: And Peter Woods didn't run a 40 because he said he had a bad hamstring, but then did a 10 yard run and a shot three code, which seems weird for a guy with a dodgy hamstring, but how did you assess his results score?
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because I didn't, I wasn't blown away by the numbers.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's relative athleticism score was about a seven out of 10.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: So it okay athleticism, but way smaller than we thought like it did it 302 and doesn't have great length.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: So he's a guy I've kind of wrestled with a little bit on lower than the consensus.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: I see the appeal.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: I see some of the flashes of the block deconstruction stuff.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: But he's a guy that's got some pad level inconsistencies for me.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's an okay athlete, but what's his playing weight and what's the function?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think those are all legitimate questions.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think he's a really high variance player for me.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: If you told me you wanted to go a different direction to get a more clean projection as a defensive tackle, I would totally see why.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: But I think you probably got to play him at three technique and try to just encourage him to penetrate and lean on the first step first.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's why that's path for success for him.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Banks fractured his foot as well at the combine.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll be interested in more discuss over the next couple of weeks how that affects him.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's it for this week.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for listening.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for watching.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: You can as always catch our A to Z sports or at car crabs on Twitter and you can catch me on my sub stack, which is simply called the Low Red Zone or at Cypansy on Twitter.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks mate.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you as always and see everybody next week.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, yes.
