Transcript
- 0:11SPEAKER_05: Welcome to Literally the Word, a podcast about things that are the words.
- 0:18SPEAKER_05: Now Bad Stop complaining about it.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: And now I have something to dance to at the beginning.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm Lauren, by the way.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I'm Anna.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: Woo-hoo! Music.
- 0:32SPEAKER_05: We did a thing.
- 0:33SPEAKER_05: We're trying it.
- 0:34SPEAKER_05: Look at us.
- 0:35SPEAKER_05: So fancy.
- 0:36SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 0:37SPEAKER_05: Uh look at that.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: So what are we what are we doing today?
- 0:42SPEAKER_05: You got a petty?
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, a petty.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Crap.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: No, I forgot to think about that one.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Do you have one?
- 0:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 0:54SPEAKER_05: Honey bottles where the honey gets all over the bottle and the lid.
- 1:01SPEAKER_05: Uh-huh.
- 1:02SPEAKER_05: And everything is sticky.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: You have one minor interaction with honey.
- 1:08SPEAKER_05: And there your day is ruined because now there's honey everywhere.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: Because it's gonna drip everywhere.
- 1:16SPEAKER_05: And then it gets like all crusty on the lid.
- 1:20SPEAKER_05: Crusty and sticky.
- 1:22SPEAKER_05: Those are the that's the worst combination.
- 1:25SPEAKER_05: Crusty and sticky.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: For really almost anything.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Not just honey.
- 1:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yes.
- 1:31SPEAKER_05: But I feel like honey in particular just kind of does this in a not great way.
- 1:40SPEAKER_05: And I don't know.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: There's gotta be a a way around it or like a better honey bottle.
- 1:46SPEAKER_05: But I haven't found it yet.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: So yeah, because even the squeeze bottles get crispy, and that's like good honey I've not found is very squeeze bottle able.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Like at least not the little nozzles.
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: So super thick.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Mm-hmm.
- 2:10SPEAKER_05: And if you if you want the not thick kind, it's kind of watery.
- 2:14SPEAKER_05: So Yeah.
- 2:16SPEAKER_05: You don't want that.
- 2:17SPEAKER_05: Don't want that.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Which is a whole different that's a whole different issue at that point.
- 2:21SPEAKER_05: Oh because then it's just sugar water that goes everywhere.
- 2:25SPEAKER_05: So yeah, that's my uh that's my petty peeve.
- 2:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:31SPEAKER_05: That's today.
- 2:33unknown: Yeah.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't even I don't even like honey that much.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Like it's fine.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: I like it more than I ever used to, but the flavor I'm just kind of like eh.
- 2:43SPEAKER_05: Oh, see I like it.
- 2:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_05: I do like honey.
- 2:48SPEAKER_05: Um especially the best ice cream I have ever had was honey flavored.
- 2:56SPEAKER_05: Oh it was like a honey vanilla, and it was so good.
- 3:00SPEAKER_05: So good.
- 3:01SPEAKER_05: It does sound good.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: It was so good.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: Where did you get that honey vanilla?
- 3:06SPEAKER_05: Uh at etc.
- 3:11SPEAKER_05: Here in Nashville, over in Greenhouse.
- 3:14SPEAKER_05: It was delicious.
- 3:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that sounds amazing.
- 3:18SPEAKER_05: It was so good.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Mm-mm.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: And what what's the other one you went to recently in East?
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: It had a really weird name.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Or not a weird name.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: It's not like Dirty Cup, but it's something.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: You're gonna go eat at the Dirty Cup.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 3:40SPEAKER_05: No, I do not.
- 3:41SPEAKER_05: I do not want to do that.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: What was it called?
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: You had a work meeting there, I think.
- 3:47SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 3:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 3:49SPEAKER_05: That's one of the only Michelin star restaurants in Nashville, because we have two.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the one I'm thinking of.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: I just can't think of the name.
- 3:57SPEAKER_05: It is not called the Dirty Cup.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, good good marketing choice on their part.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Uh bad idea.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Bad idea.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: There we go.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Drinking from a dirty cup would be a bad idea.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: So I feel like there's a connection there, but very, very different in practice.
- 4:19SPEAKER_05: Would be a bad idea.
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Oh hey, what's this?
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Michelin Star Thai?
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: What?
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: We have a Michelin Star Thai restaurant over by Belmont.
- 4:33SPEAKER_05: What?
- 4:35SPEAKER_05: Elephant smiling elephant?
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: Hey, all right.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: We we need to go to there.
- 4:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we do.
- 4:45SPEAKER_05: I want to go to there.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: International market.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 4:52SPEAKER_05: Now I'm just scrolling through restaurants on the Michelin guide website.
- 4:58SPEAKER_05: Because that's what you do.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: We've lost the plot already.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Um, okay.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: You keep doing that.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: I will let me see.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: What's my pet peeve?
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, I hate it when this is why I don't usually use ballpoint pens.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Um, but when you're writing and the ballpoint pen blobs, like you get that like that really annoys me, which is why I don't use them.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: But then I had an uh one of my gel pens was doing that.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm wondering, I'm like, I wonder if it was old.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: It was one of the ones, it was one of the zebra sarassa, like milky blue color, which I was like, I don't anything called milky, I'm not a fan of, but uh have you listened to diabolical lies lately?
- 5:49SPEAKER_05: No, why?
- 5:51SPEAKER_05: No reason.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Okay, good to know.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: All right, cool.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I listened to one of their I listened to an older one of theirs just last week, but not anything recent.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Um that's fine.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool, cool.
- 6:10unknown: Cool.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: But yeah, one of those pens did that and it was gel.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I didn't think gel could do this, but I'm wondering if it's because it was just older.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: Uh or had been sitting in direct sunlight and something about the UV was degrading the ink and then it cross-linked, and then you get little blurbs.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Probably I don't know if that's possible, but it might be.
- 6:37SPEAKER_05: Probably.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: I also hate it when you try to like sign for something.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Like, usually it's like if you're signing for your food at a restaurant and it won't write.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Like, not because the pen won't work, but like uh whatever surface they have put the receipt on, it just like somehow does not work, and you can't actually get the pen to write on that.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: And then they're like, oh, let's put something else under it, and then it works.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that's dumb.
- 7:07SPEAKER_05: That is dumb.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: But I'm like, what is the point of you if you're a pen and you're not writing?
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 7:16SPEAKER_03: So there's that.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: Agreed.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: All right, now I'm just I'm looking at this site and now I'm just hungry.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: Apparently it's not Thai, or it's not Michelin Star.
- 7:32SPEAKER_05: They just have all kinds of restaurants on there because Hattie Bees is also on there, and I was like, Hattie B's is not a Michelin star.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: No.
- 7:43SPEAKER_05: I bet they also have crappy pens at Hattie Bee's.
- 7:46SPEAKER_05: They probably do.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: They probably do.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: You know what else they probably have at Hattie B's?
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Cyber trucks in the parking lot.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: That's our topic for today.
- 8:00SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 8:02SPEAKER_05: That was that was that was uh good job.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Or what you could probably see while you sit on the porch having your hot chicken at Hattie B's, Cybertrucks driving down the road.
- 8:14SPEAKER_05: That oh my god, uh that was well done.
- 8:18SPEAKER_05: Not forced at all.
- 8:20SPEAKER_05: Not at all.
- 8:21SPEAKER_05: I didn't see it coming.
- 8:23SPEAKER_05: Um like we will stay on topic.
- 8:34SPEAKER_05: Like, okay, we will.
- 8:35SPEAKER_05: We'll stay on topic.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: No, it's fine.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: No, didn't see it coming.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, with good with good reason.
- 8:43SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 8:44SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 8:45SPEAKER_05: It seemed on topic.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: I don't know why you would think it wasn't.
- 8:50SPEAKER_05: Fair.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Oh no, but to to go back to Hattie Bees for a moment, are you at Hattie Bees or Prince's chicken or somewhere else for hot chicken?
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: I have never eaten hot chicken because it's not gluten-free.
- 9:06SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 9:07SPEAKER_05: That'd do it.
- 9:08SPEAKER_05: So I don't know.
- 9:10SPEAKER_05: Now, I guess I could look.
- 9:13SPEAKER_05: I know Hattie Bees does not have gluten-free hot chicken.
- 9:16SPEAKER_05: Does Prince's?
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Uh my guess is Prince's probably does not.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: You might.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: I mean, they're around the corner from my house.
- 9:25SPEAKER_05: And uh they're not fancy.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: It's just maybe they have grilled.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: They might have like grilled tenders or something, but I don't know if their sauces are gluten-free.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: I would guess.
- 9:39SPEAKER_05: Their menu is a JPEG.
- 9:43SPEAKER_05: Hey oh.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: And probably of the menu that's in their restaurant on a sign somewhere.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 9:51SPEAKER_05: And no.
- 9:53SPEAKER_05: Now you can get plain, light, mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, extra, extra hot, extra, extra, extra hot.
- 10:05SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 10:07SPEAKER_05: Love this.
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: So there's that.
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: I wonder if is it BJ's?
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: BJ is hot chicken.
- 10:12SPEAKER_05: People are like, I'm not listening to this conversation anymore as we speak.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: As we Google things.
- 10:20SPEAKER_05: As we Google things.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: What you don't want us, you don't want to hear about our hot chicken escapades or lack thereof.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: It just turns into a let me google that for you podcast where one of us just brings a question and then the other one googles and it's like, this is how you find and then explains it to the other person.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't have been to Hattie B's once, I've been to Prince's a few times, and I can only handle the the like it's kind of like hot sauce breathed onto the chicken.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: And so you just kind of get the essence of it.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: It's just very light whisper of heat.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: And even that, I'm like, mm-hmm.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Yep, I wouldn't do well.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: I would not do well with this.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:14SPEAKER_05: It looks like even BJ's does not have gluten-free.
- 11:19SPEAKER_05: But what's their what's their I don't know, scale?
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: We gotta look at the scale.
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: Okay, there's regular, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, extra, extra hot.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: So oh, regular means no seasoning.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Got it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: I was like, what's regular?
- 11:46SPEAKER_05: Just no heat at all.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: No heat at all.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Just a chicken.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Regular chicken, Warren.
- 11:51SPEAKER_05: Piece of chicken.
- 11:52SPEAKER_05: Regular.
- 11:53SPEAKER_05: Just regular hot.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Probably not even any pepper.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Just regular.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was like, I've never heard of regular hot before.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: And then her remembered you said mild.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Hot chicken.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: It's a thing.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Hot chicken.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: It's a thing.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: We really should probably eat dinner before we record these.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we get into early food tangents, like hot dogs and hot chickens.
- 12:20SPEAKER_05: I had to grab a snack this time.
- 12:22SPEAKER_05: So we're recording.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: It's four o'clock-ish.
- 12:25SPEAKER_05: And so I was like, I gotta grab a snack.
- 12:28SPEAKER_05: Because if I don't grab a snack, all I'm gonna be doing is like figuring out what I want to eat for dinner this whole podcast.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: This whole time be like, uh-huh.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: But you know what?
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Be done so I can eat.
- 12:39SPEAKER_05: A Cybertruck can get you to a place that has food.
- 12:45SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: In theory.
- 12:47SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 12:47SPEAKER_05: In theory.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: If it's if it runs.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: You know, those hot wings, they are like your mouth is on fire.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: Guess what else can be on fire?
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Cybertruck.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Cybertruck.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: This is great.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: I just don't like Cybertrucks.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And so I wanted to do an episode on them.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: And with the bits and pieces of information on them I've picked up over the last couple years, I'm like, I have good reason to not like these.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: Um.
- 13:19SPEAKER_05: So it's not just that they're ugly.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: No, it's not just that they're ugly because otherwise this would have been my petty uh okay, that's fair.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: My petty one.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Uh because but because they are ugly.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Um a reader.
- 13:36SPEAKER_05: R-shaped like dumpsters on wheels.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: She, uh an author, I was googling just stuff about Cybertrucks.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Why are they the worst?
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: And this one blogger was like, it looks like a DeLorean and a dumpster had a one-night stand and then had a baby from it.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, yeah, that's exactly what it looks like.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: That's what happened.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, we could jump right into the fires.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Uh so all electric cars, like batteries always any kind of battery, not just your electric car battery, like there's always a risk of batteries catching on fire.
- 14:16unknown: Okay.
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: Minuscule from any battery.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: But like not that bad.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: Um, but the Teslas for what, there's like 70 or 80,000 of them in the marketplace right now, I think.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: 60 to 80.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Uh all of them are in Nashville.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: That's what it seems like.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: There's so freaking many of them here.
- 14:41unknown: Yeah.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: Probably because we've got Williamson County.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: But uh they're not cheap.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: No, they're 80 something.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: Cyber truck.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I think the base starts at 80 or 81.
- 14:54SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna custom build me a cyber truck while we're talking about how crappy cyber trucks are.
- 15:01SPEAKER_05: Hey, redefining the pickup truck.
- 15:04SPEAKER_05: Look, it's got a bed.
- 15:06SPEAKER_05: You can put stuff in the truck.
- 15:10SPEAKER_05: Sort of.
- 15:11SPEAKER_05: Oh my goodness.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: Because it's like a trapezoid.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: That's the other thing.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: The like the bed is like trapezoidal shaped, and so there's a lot of stuff that like if you can get it into the entry point of the bed, it doesn't always fit when it's closer to the car because it's angular, or at least the cover is angular.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, that doesn't work so well.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: So if you have a wedge-shaped item, then it's fine.
- 15:44SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 15:45SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 15:46SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: So like plywood might be a challenge.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: You know, is that you gotta trim it into a wedge.
- 15:54SPEAKER_05: And then it fits.
- 15:55SPEAKER_05: Right, yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_05: It's just always everything has to be wedge shaped.
- 15:58SPEAKER_05: So 84,990 is the base model.
- 16:03SPEAKER_05: If you get the cheapo tires and wheels and not the expensive ones, and you don't add anything.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: And you don't pay for the version that doesn't catch fire, allegedly.
- 16:22SPEAKER_05: I don't understand what you mean, Lauren.
- 16:26SPEAKER_05: So if you get the more expensive wheels, that's an extra 3,500.
- 16:35SPEAKER_05: The truck bed is six feet by four feet.
- 16:42SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 16:43SPEAKER_05: And it's oh, it's got a it's got a pocket in it.
- 16:46SPEAKER_05: This is great.
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: There's a pocket in the bed?
- 16:50SPEAKER_05: Like on the sidewalk.
- 16:52SPEAKER_05: Like if your truck had a trunk in the truck bed.
- 16:57SPEAKER_05: In the truck bed, there is a trunk.
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: So you can put extra stuff in the trunk.
- 17:02SPEAKER_05: But it's not in your truck bed.
- 17:03SPEAKER_05: Is it flat?
- 17:05SPEAKER_05: No, here.
- 17:07SPEAKER_05: I mean it is it is flat, hold on.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: So it's like tacked onto the outside?
- 17:12SPEAKER_05: No, it's in the it's in the it's in the bed.
- 17:15SPEAKER_05: In the bed.
- 17:15SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 17:16SPEAKER_05: In the bed.
- 17:17SPEAKER_05: So watch, he's gonna open it up because we have buttons to do that.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 17:22SPEAKER_05: So manually.
- 17:22SPEAKER_05: And then you got a trunk detailgate.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's like in the trunk bed.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: The okay.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: It's like where like a spare wheel or something could go in other cars.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: In other cars.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Sort of.
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: But here it's just storage and a power outlet.
- 17:39SPEAKER_05: Right, because why wouldn't you want a trunk in your truck?
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's cool.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: You can hide stuff in there, like treasure.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: And it would be well protected by the full stainless steel body.
- 17:55SPEAKER_05: Well, and here's the thing: you can add a terrestrial armor package.
- 18:01SPEAKER_05: You can now shield the battery.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: Oh no!
- 18:07SPEAKER_05: We're gonna make you pay for that.
- 18:10SPEAKER_05: So the terrestrial armor package is an extra 3,000.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Shouldn't the battery be generally safe from terrestrial aka Earth elements to begin with?
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Like that just I don't.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: But I do know the inside of that car looks like a robot.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: It looks like well, it looks like a robot.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: It also looks like a child's toy.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: Like, remember the little round toy cars that you could just like sit into and there was nothing there but a wheel?
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: Like that's what this is, except there's a screen and a wheel.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: At least they've changed the wheel a little bit because it used to just be the yoke shape and there used to be a gap.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: So like the three-point turn was hard.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Challenging.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Because it would be like the indie, like the indie car or the F1 cars, where you just you barely have to turn the wheel, which is great, except when you're in a truck where you have to turn around.
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Especially like if you're towing something and backing in places, you know.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah.
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, that's insane.
- 19:19SPEAKER_05: But for two thousand dollars more, you can get white trim in the interior.
- 19:27SPEAKER_05: Whoa.
- 19:29SPEAKER_01: That way my coffee spills will be sure to show up.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: That's that's what you need, Lauren.
- 19:35SPEAKER_05: Uh show me.
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: How are you gonna know?
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: How are you gonna know where to clean?
- 19:40SPEAKER_05: I am.
- 19:41SPEAKER_05: How are you gonna know where to clean if you don't want to be able to do that?
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: We're talking about cleaning a car that I don't even clean what I have now.
- 19:51SPEAKER_05: I s I s I sort of managed to keep mine clean, sort of.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Yours is in good shape.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: I've been very impressed with yours.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you very much.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: But it's helped that your friend hasn't dumped a 16-ounce coffee on her leg in your passenger seat, too.
- 20:08SPEAKER_05: No, yeah, I haven't.
- 20:09SPEAKER_05: But I have spilled coffee in your car, so that probably didn't help.
- 20:13SPEAKER_05: But it did smell like coffee for a while.
- 20:15SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_05: That was great when that spilled a 16-ounce coffee in your car.
- 20:22SPEAKER_05: That was great.
- 20:22SPEAKER_05: Or was that you?
- 20:24SPEAKER_05: Was that my spilled big car?
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: In your old car, not in your new one, yeah.
- 20:28SPEAKER_05: Oh, well, it still smelled like coffee until I had it cleaned to give to my sister.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that that makes that makes more sense.
- 20:38SPEAKER_05: You can pay for this thing with Google Pay.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: Lauren.
- 20:43SPEAKER_05: What?
- 20:45SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 20:46SPEAKER_05: Why would you not want to pay for this truck with Google Pay?
- 20:49SPEAKER_05: Pay with Google Pay?
- 20:50SPEAKER_05: What$95,735 with Google Pay.
- 20:55SPEAKER_05: Or it's still so ugly.
- 21:00SPEAKER_05: You can well, okay, we didn't do anything to help with the ugly, so maybe if we add some accessories, no projection lights.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: It does look like they might have it looks like they might have tilted.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: So one of the I looked through all of the recalls that they had on the on this thing, whatever it's called, Cybertruck.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: Um one of the issues that kept coming, kept getting recalled is the the front light bar would fall off.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: And so then you just just off.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: Like the adhesive was bad.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: And so it'd just fall off.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: That uh, yep, that whole bar of the room.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: So your headlight would just disappear into the road.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: You'd run over it, probably it'd create a hazard for other drivers, and then you'd be headlights.
- 21:51SPEAKER_05: I wonder if in my old car that is what I hit.
- 21:56SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: It totally could have been.
- 22:01SPEAKER_05: Because I was like, it's this weird metal shaped thing.
- 22:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, it wasn't just me that hit it, it was many people, multiple people hit that thing.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Uh but yeah, because it was long, it was thinner, like probably only a few inches across.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: But then like it took a licking and kept on ticking because like two, three other people ran over it, and then you did and it still did damage.
- 22:29SPEAKER_05: Surely, surely it can't be because it fell off the Cybertruck.
- 22:34SPEAKER_05: So we know that it's not super durable.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 22:39SPEAKER_05: But the probably running over it and it's probably not coming back.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: So yeah, exactly.
- 22:44SPEAKER_05: You know, yeah.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: The other thing they said that was an issue, this wasn't recallable, but like one of the issues that people run into is like when you're driving in the snow, because the headlights aren't angled at all.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Um, the snow just sticks directly to the front.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: And so you have to get out and clean off your headlights every once in a while.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Because you know, it's just like they're angled on most cars, but not on this one.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Another recall was the windshield wipers.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, exactly.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: The windshield wipers would just stop working.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: Um there was some sort of electrical malfunction, just stop.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: So can you imagine being in a torrential downpour and then it's just and your headlights don't work.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: I don't see when your headlights don't work.
- 23:38SPEAKER_05: The windshield wipers.
- 23:40SPEAKER_05: So okay, so that's two recalls.
- 23:44unknown: Yeah.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: Two recalls.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: There were the the headlight bar had like two or three different recalls.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, I think they tried to fix this a few times and it didn't always catch.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: Have they?
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Like it didn't always stick.
- 23:57SPEAKER_05: Like industrial.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: It must be different gluing stainless steel uh pieces together.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: Because like they're not welded together, because that was an issue that some were having, which I I didn't see the recall for this, but I have heard that like some of these their stainless steel panels were falling off because sorry, hold on.
- 24:24SPEAKER_05: Like it's a refrigerator on wheels, and the the cover of the thing would be like if you're standing in your kitchen and suddenly the front of your fridge fell off.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it'd be like that.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Except there's no like coating.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: So like on our appliances, there's some sort of like fingerprint-resistant coating and that sort of thing that makes it a little bit easier to clean.
- 24:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: But the Cybertruck doesn't have anything like that.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: So like cleaning bugs off of it, every little scratch.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: This one guy was like, every little scratch looks like a pimple on prom night.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, well, that's that was great.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: We'll link her blog in here because she's got some great uh quips.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: But um yeah, and I think the panel like in the where the bumper would be.
- 25:14SPEAKER_05: Touching them all.
- 25:16SPEAKER_05: Be like fingerprints all over.
- 25:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, exactly.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 25:24SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 25:25SPEAKER_05: So the panel on the back also falls off.
- 25:27SPEAKER_05: The one that's on the back does.
- 25:29SPEAKER_05: Car butt.
- 25:30SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 25:30SPEAKER_05: On the rear.
- 25:31SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 25:32SPEAKER_05: So on the gate then also falls off.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 25:36SPEAKER_05: That's you don't really need that part.
- 25:39SPEAKER_05: So it's fine.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: There's something plastic under there, I'm sure.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 25:44SPEAKER_05: Well, it is made out of plastic mostly.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: Except for the altering battery shield.
- 25:52SPEAKER_05: Oh, sorry.
- 25:53SPEAKER_05: The terrestrial armor package is what it's called.
- 25:57SPEAKER_05: Which protects the battery.
- 26:00SPEAKER_05: That's probably not prop plastic.
- 26:03SPEAKER_05: Probably not.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: But like that's the thing, is this is one of the reasons the car is actually not legal to drive in the UK, is because the exterior of the body or the exoskeleton is completely stainless steel and does not have any crumple zones.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: So it's like built to be rigid.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: It's not built to like crumple a little in the front or crumple through the like the bed of the truck to help dissipate energy.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: It stays rigid.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: And so that's good for the people inside the truck.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: But if you're running into one of these things, it's very bad because it transfers all the energy to you, or the pedestrian that's being hit, or the biker that's being hit.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: It is bonkers.
- 26:46SPEAKER_05: So it's a tank on wheels, which is okay, fine.
- 26:52SPEAKER_05: Own a tank, whatever.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: That's used.
- 26:54SPEAKER_05: But whatever you hit, unless it's a semi, yeah, it's not gonna survive well.
- 27:03SPEAKER_05: You will die.
- 27:04SPEAKER_05: They will die.
- 27:05SPEAKER_05: It will die.
- 27:06SPEAKER_05: And then if you hit a semi, you're dead.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: But that's why they cost 45% more to insure than other electric trucks of that size.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: So how much how much does it cost to insure a cyber truck?
- 27:25SPEAKER_05: Things I never thought I would Google for one, Alex.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: Okay, all right.
- 27:35SPEAKER_05: Uh two hundred and thirty-four dollars a month.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:46SPEAKER_03: On average.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: Got it?
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: So math.
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: Forty-five percent close to half, so like one fifty something for a Rivian, maybe.
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: So twenty eight hundred for and for that's uh that's not cheap.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Definitely not.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: And then also not cheap, the lawsuit you're gonna get after you crunch someone with it.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: I mean just a little crunching.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: Just a little crunching, just a smidge.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: That's the other reason why it's not legal in the UK is because all of the edges are sharp.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: What?
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Like, can you imagine getting tapped by the corner of that thing?
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Like at the corner of the truck bed.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 28:43SPEAKER_05: That would hurt.
- 28:43SPEAKER_05: I thought you meant like knife sharp.
- 28:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, not like that.
- 28:47SPEAKER_05: Well that's like they should probably fix that.
- 28:50SPEAKER_05: They just shouldn't.
- 28:52SPEAKER_05: The plate falls off, lands on your foot, and slices your toes off.
- 28:56SPEAKER_05: Cuts your toes off.
- 28:56SPEAKER_05: Oh my god.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: You have to wear stainless steel boots in order to own it or walk and own it.
- 29:02SPEAKER_05: Constant stainless steel.
- 29:04SPEAKER_05: That's okay though.
- 29:05SPEAKER_05: It can haul, according to this photo, rocket parts.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: So it can.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:13SPEAKER_05: It can.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: That makes it cool.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Towing capacity is like 11,000 pounds, but it'll only be able to go like a hundred miles on a brand new battery that's fully charged.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: Not a hundred thousand miles, a hundred miles.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 29:30SPEAKER_05: That's the one.
- 29:31SPEAKER_05: And then you gotta stop.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: You've got to stop.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: So that'll be the beautiful thing, is if you're towing something and you need to recharge, you've got to pull off, unhook whatever you're towing so that you can back the truck into one of the charging stations.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Because you can't access the charger with something attached to the back of the truck.
- 29:55SPEAKER_03: Can you access the charger?
- 30:00SPEAKER_05: I guess it depends on how long the cord is.
- 30:03unknown: Yep.
- 30:04SPEAKER_05: Because like if you're not going to be able to do the car you can pull in.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: But I've only ever seen, so there's two Tesla charging stations relatively near my home.
- 30:16SPEAKER_05: There's one at the Target three miles from my house.
- 30:19SPEAKER_05: There's one at the movie theater that's maybe like five miles from my house in the opposite direction.
- 30:27SPEAKER_05: And I have only ever seen at one of them, there's never any cars there.
- 30:32SPEAKER_05: Because it's a Po section of town.
- 30:34SPEAKER_05: Everybody poor.
- 30:35SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 30:36SPEAKER_05: So hardly anybody has a Tesla there.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: At the right off the highway.
- 30:41SPEAKER_05: At the Target in Brentwood, where the richie riches are, that is where just about every slot on that Tesla charging station is full.
- 30:53SPEAKER_05: And I've only ever seen people back into that thing.
- 30:57SPEAKER_05: And I'm always like annoyed at them.
- 30:59SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, well, you have to charge it and the things in the back, so you gotta do it.
- 31:03SPEAKER_05: But I'm like, the cord reaches to the front.
- 31:06SPEAKER_05: Like if you pull in and you've got a normal size Tesla.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: No, but then people can't see your face that you are the one sitting inside the Tesla.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: That's they can't be like sure that's true.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, I didn't know Janet had a Tesla.
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: You know, until very recently, my brother owned a Tesla.
- 31:25SPEAKER_05: And I'm gonna have to send this to you.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: Because he also pre-ordered a Cybertruck.
- 31:30SPEAKER_05: Oh he did.
- 31:32SPEAKER_05: And then he found out they were crappy.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: And now he owns two Rivians.
- 31:37SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 31:38SPEAKER_01: I'm just like I knew he had at least one Rivian.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: I didn't know he had two.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Those look cool though.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: I'm like, all right, if I have an electric truck, I'll get a Rivian.
- 31:47SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's right.
- 31:48SPEAKER_05: If they weren't$80,000, I would$80,000.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:53SPEAKER_05: But if they weren't, you know, a down payment for a home.
- 32:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's fair.
- 32:03SPEAKER_05: In today's day and age.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: I guess that's still a cheap house, though.
- 32:08SPEAKER_05: 20%.
- 32:08SPEAKER_05: That'd be$400,000.
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: That's Midwest housing housing prices.
- 32:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it is.
- 32:15SPEAKER_05: That's Omaha, Nebraska housing.
- 32:17SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 32:19SPEAKER_05: I've just defended half of all of America.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: It's fine.
- 32:25SPEAKER_05: It's fine.
- 32:25SPEAKER_05: It's fine.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Well done.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: It's good.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 32:29SPEAKER_05: But yeah, losing listeners as we speak.
- 32:33SPEAKER_05: It's just they keep talking like flies.
- 32:35SPEAKER_05: Thank you to our one listener that's left.
- 32:37SPEAKER_05: We love you.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 32:39SPEAKER_05: It's Ben.
- 32:40SPEAKER_05: He's great.
- 32:42SPEAKER_05: Um, Ben.
- 32:46SPEAKER_05: So funny.
- 32:46SPEAKER_05: Oh man.
- 32:47SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 32:47SPEAKER_05: Why do you listen to the Us chit-chat every week?
- 32:50SPEAKER_05: But now he's gonna get an earful about cyber trucks.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, he he needs to know.
- 32:57SPEAKER_05: He does need to know I learned a lot about you.
- 33:00SPEAKER_05: Like, that's weird.
- 33:03SPEAKER_05: It's true.
- 33:04SPEAKER_05: You could just ask questions.
- 33:05SPEAKER_05: Oh gosh.
- 33:08SPEAKER_05: Okay, now you know all of my opinions about Michelin star restaurants and cyber.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Random things.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: What else?
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, that so there was uh this is sad.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Um there were multiple fires in the first uh like less than two years that they were available on the market, um, where people actually died inside the car because the battery caught fire.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: And then because the electricles are electrical and they are no handles from the outside.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: So then people can't, and the the windows are not bulletproof, but they're definitely harder to break than your typical car.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: And so then like trying to get out is very, very, very difficult.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: So they're not surprisingly, these were there were like two in Texas in 2024, 2025, I think.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: And there's like five different sadly, no, but they're I think like all of them, there are open lawsuits.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: Um as there probably should be.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: As there should be.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: Um, because yeah, like there there has to be other ways of getting out.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: Oh I have some questions.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: What?
- 34:29SPEAKER_05: I can make up answers.
- 34:31SPEAKER_05: Okay, so I buy a car.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: What is the governing body in the United States?
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: Is it the Consumer Protection Agency?
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: No, it's not CPA.
- 34:43SPEAKER_05: Uh that got gutted.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm also like, well There's like Department of Transportation, I think, has a like road and highway safety.
- 34:55SPEAKER_05: But do they verify that they were adequately tested?
- 35:00SPEAKER_05: Question mark.
- 35:01SPEAKER_05: I actually don't know.
- 35:02SPEAKER_05: I should feel like I should know this as a human that lives in this country that doesn't care about anything.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: Did this governing body care if Tesla adequately tested?
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: Is that what you're saying?
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: They because they have to be they have to be tested by a third party.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: And I think some of these were on the road before they were tested by the third party, which was where they discovered how poorly they performed uh in crashes for everybody except who were inside.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:32SPEAKER_05: And also if you drive it through a puddle, the battery dies.
- 35:37SPEAKER_05: So um so okay, so let's say uh hypothetically I'm a car company.
- 35:48SPEAKER_05: My car is cracked, actually.
- 35:51SPEAKER_05: It's also not safe.
- 35:55SPEAKER_05: I put it out there anyway.
- 35:59SPEAKER_05: Then what?
- 36:00SPEAKER_05: Just sue me?
- 36:01SPEAKER_05: Is that basically the only recourse?
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, there is probably that.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: It is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration underneath the DOT.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: So there is a governing body.
- 36:14SPEAKER_05: Well our current DOT leader.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: It used to it used to be a thing.
- 36:19SPEAKER_05: Launched his own reality show paid for by many people slash companies, since companies are people now, uh, that are accountable to his agency.
- 36:33SPEAKER_05: So that's great.
- 36:34SPEAKER_05: That's great.
- 36:35SPEAKER_05: That's so awesome.
- 36:36SPEAKER_05: So great.
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but he was very clear that taxpayers didn't pay for this.
- 36:40SPEAKER_01: Well, you know what, man?
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I don't really give a risk.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: Because you took bribes, my friend.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: You took bribes.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: So you didn't have to use taxpayer dollars.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: Um, they are the ones that do all the safety readings, but I don't know if a car has to pass those.
- 36:58SPEAKER_01: Apparently not.
- 36:59SPEAKER_05: If it was on the road before they even knew it would light on fire and you'd burn to death inside.
- 37:06SPEAKER_05: Barbecue.
- 37:07SPEAKER_05: Hey, that's another benefit of owning a cyber truck.
- 37:13SPEAKER_05: Random barbecues?
- 37:15SPEAKER_05: Random barbecues.
- 37:16SPEAKER_05: You don't know.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: You never know when they're gonna set on fire.
- 37:20SPEAKER_05: Fantastic for people with ADHD because you get the dopamine hit of needing to escape the car.
- 37:31SPEAKER_05: This is great.
- 37:32SPEAKER_05: This is so good.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: Okay, so um NHTSA.gov is saying there is a minimum that is required by law, like minimum safety standards that cars have to have to be on the road.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then they test beyond that and can rate you from one to five stars.
- 37:55SPEAKER_05: So what is a cyber truck rated?
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: Not five.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
- 38:02SPEAKER_01: Zero stars.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: It might, it might not have been rated.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Uh let's see.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: It's just not rated.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: Like we we didn't try.
- 38:11SPEAKER_05: Cyber safety rating.
- 38:15SPEAKER_05: Listen to us while we Google things.
- 38:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, geez, it got a five out of five.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: How?
- 38:21SPEAKER_05: For the 2024.
- 38:22SPEAKER_05: Is that just a crash test rating?
- 38:25SPEAKER_05: Let's see.
- 38:28SPEAKER_05: Cyber truck crash, what a five-star rating actually means.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: Well, it's so it's got like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking, dynamic brake support.
- 38:42SPEAKER_05: Well, my car has all that too, but you've seen how that goes.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: Just constant.
- 38:49SPEAKER_01: That thing is scary.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Talk about a dopamine hit.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: Is it gonna is it gonna go off when there's a car there or not?
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 38:56SPEAKER_05: I mean, most of the time.
- 38:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:59SPEAKER_05: And most of the time, it just screams at you.
- 39:01SPEAKER_05: Like, you almost touched that other car with me.
- 39:05SPEAKER_05: How dare you?
- 39:07SPEAKER_05: It's like, I saw it and I didn't do that.
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: It's like, you had your signal on, so obviously you were going right then.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, no, no.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so far this looks like airbags and then child passenger features, like safeties for the windows, latch locations.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know what that means.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: So that feels pretty minimal.
- 39:34SPEAKER_05: Does it scream at you every time you try to change lanes?
- 39:39SPEAKER_05: Because if not, I don't know if it's a safe car.
- 39:45SPEAKER_05: Just saying.
- 39:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, my husband.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: It does yikes.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: They've got a photo of here of it in here in a front end crash, and it you can tell there is no crumple zone.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: Oh my word.
- 40:00SPEAKER_05: It just kind of uh bashed into the wall.
- 40:05SPEAKER_05: Well, the headlight strip looks like it just kind of gets eaten by the car.
- 40:16SPEAKER_05: This would be fun to work for this agency.
- 40:19SPEAKER_05: Not gonna lie.
- 40:20SPEAKER_05: You get how many cyber trucks and you just like run them?
- 40:24unknown: Yeah.
- 40:25SPEAKER_05: And that's your whole job is like running cars, like coming up with new ways to test the safety of things.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: That's the photo I was looking at.
- 40:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:34SPEAKER_05: It's just like smack.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: It it doesn't really go anywhere, no.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: But that headlight strip.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: The headlight strip just sort of disappears into the hood.
- 40:48SPEAKER_05: Just whizzles away.
- 40:50SPEAKER_05: It just it melts.
- 40:52SPEAKER_01: Just pop to another dimension.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Just get me out of here.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Poof.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: This is great.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 41:07SPEAKER_05: Well, it looks like I mean, I don't know how fast this cyber truck was going, but it looks like you just sort of everything falls out the bottom, and then it sort of eats the headlight strip.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: And that's it.
- 41:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it really does.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: It just like it's like its lower lips.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 41:36SPEAKER_05: That does look like you could slice tomatoes with the edge of that hood, though.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, absolutely.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's that's the thing.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: It is stainless steel.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Our cars are not, yeah.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Our cars are not running around, driving around with a bunch of stainless steel.
- 41:55SPEAKER_05: So so what has led you, other than the obvious problems with the cyber truck and the fact that it is horrifyingly ugly.
- 42:04SPEAKER_05: Uh, what has led you to hate it so much?
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: Uh okay.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: Well, before I answer that, there was a video that I saw on socials, and it was a family that had been out car camping, and they said they heard something like scratching in the middle of the night, and they went to look at their cyber truck parked next to it the next day, and there were a bunch of muddy paw prints on top, and it had been pried open, the cover that goes over the um bed, and some raccoon got away with all of their food, and it just made me laugh that a raccoon could get into it.
- 42:42SPEAKER_05: It does kind of look like a dumpster, like the back side in particular is very dumpster-shaped.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: It's very dumpster shape.
- 42:52SPEAKER_01: It looks like if you were like doing your first welding project in like shop class in high school, like that's what this makes me think of.
- 43:05SPEAKER_05: Do you think it was on purpose that they made it this way?
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: I think so.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: Like I think there was although I kind of think this was probably like the model that they were like, well, we just we really, the designers were like, we really like this other one, but let's just throw this one in here as like a spare.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: And because we've got to have three for Elon to look at.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: He's obviously gonna choose option C, but like we'll just put this in the hair as option A to round it out.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: And Elon's like, oh my god, I love that one.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: It's so cool.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: It looks like a robot.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: It's so different than anything else out there.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: And they're all like, uh, but it what?
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: It's gonna slice you in.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: It has flaws, sir.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: So many flaws.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: No, it's perfect.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: Like, that's what we want.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: We want to make a statement.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: So that is really why I hate them first is Elon.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: Um Chose this.
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: Elon chose this.
- 44:04SPEAKER_01: Elon, this is your fault.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: You make it, you sold it.
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: So ugly.
- 44:11SPEAKER_01: Uh kills lots of other people.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: Very expensive.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Lights on fire randomly.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Uh oh, you can't fully close.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: That was another recall.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: You can't fully close the charging port sometimes.
- 44:27SPEAKER_01: So it'll be like sticking half out.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Uh it's just a flaw.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: So that's cool.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: And then there was the whole issue with the accelerators sticking to the floor.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: Um they could, yeah.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: That was back in, I think that was in 2024.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: I think like the website officially said it they could get caught on the trim that was down there and you wouldn't be able to lift it back up.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and then they also started having issues with just losing power entirely.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: So you'd just be driving and then it would just short out essentially.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: And so that was another recall.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: Seems badness.
- 45:09SPEAKER_01: For being an electric car, you're not doing the electric things very well.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Cyber truck.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: So seems seems bad.
- 45:19SPEAKER_05: And then just all oh go ahead.
- 45:23SPEAKER_05: Is it supposed to be sort of waterproof?
- 45:29SPEAKER_01: I mean Elon was like, This is basically a boat.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: Like you could drive it in the water.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: And it sinks immediately.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: Somebody drove it in the water.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: Has driven it in the water.
- 45:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:44SPEAKER_05: And it fries it because it's an electric car.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: Shorts it out because it's an electric car and not well.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Just like this is not a boat.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: Turns out it is not a boat.
- 45:57SPEAKER_01: Just because you want something to be a boat.
- 46:00SPEAKER_01: Or an amphibious vehicle.
- 46:02SPEAKER_01: It's not and you design it to possibly look like the ugliest boat I've ever seen, but you make it out of electricity and sheet metal.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Turns out not a not a floater.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: So that is why I hate the Cybertruck for all of the reasons previously stated.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: Those are pretty good reasons.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's fine.
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: And then all of the social media videos of like being able, like when people put a voltameter up to it and it's like registering just by touching the side of the car, it's like registering electric flow.
- 46:42SPEAKER_02: I'm like, ah no, that shouldn't be doing that.
- 46:45SPEAKER_05: Well, it did shock people for a while.
- 46:48SPEAKER_05: Like many of them.
- 46:50SPEAKER_05: Not all of them, of course, but like many of them.
- 46:53SPEAKER_05: It didn't work.
- 46:53SPEAKER_05: There were enough to shock them.
- 46:57SPEAKER_05: Not like emotionally shock.
- 46:59SPEAKER_05: No, just shock.
- 47:00SPEAKER_05: Literally.
- 47:02SPEAKER_05: Like electrically.
- 47:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: Electrically.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: Like they didn't sign up for it.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: And then the car was like zap, gotcha.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: Hey.
- 47:11SPEAKER_05: A faster, cheaper, easier way.
- 47:15SPEAKER_03: For TMS.
- 47:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:17SPEAKER_05: You just walk up to every cyber truck, you touch it, and you just hold on for a little bit.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: Just bonk it with the side of my head.
- 47:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:28SPEAKER_05: And then you have somebody pry you off with a broom, a wooden-handled broom.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right above my left temple.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
- 47:35SPEAKER_01: That's where it should go anyway.
- 47:37SPEAKER_05: And you're like, you know, in case you ever get tired of driving every day to Vanderbilt.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: Get tired of driving every day if insurance ever comes back and they're like, yeah, we're not paying for that anymore.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Seems like you're better.
- 47:52SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: You seem fine.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: You seem fine.
- 47:55SPEAKER_05: Alternatives to TMS.
- 47:58SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 47:59SPEAKER_05: Touching a cyber truck.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: Just CT.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: Cybertruck shock.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: CTS.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: TMS.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: I mean Oh my gosh.
- 48:09SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 48:10SPEAKER_05: That's a real option.
- 48:11SPEAKER_05: Might be cheaper.
- 48:12SPEAKER_05: Might be cheaper.
- 48:13SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: Probably not, but it's possible.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: No, I'd probably get sued for shorting out their system.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 48:22SPEAKER_05: The other thing, too, for a while, was Are those hot dogs?
- 48:28SPEAKER_05: That's a carrot.
- 48:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 48:30SPEAKER_05: It's uh being guillotined by the hood of the car being closed.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: That's right, when it would cut off fingers or could.
- 48:39SPEAKER_05: Uh I think some people almost lost limbs, though, because if you closed the door at one point, it would literally like cut a cucumber in half because there was nothing because it's an electric door and you push a button to close it, there was nothing to stop it if there was something in the door.
- 49:01SPEAKER_05: And so people were like demonstrating.
- 49:03SPEAKER_05: No feedback.
- 49:04SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 49:05SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 49:05SPEAKER_05: So there were no sensors saying, like, there's a human limb in here.
- 49:09SPEAKER_05: And then people were demonstrating that it would literally like cut cucumbers in half.
- 49:14SPEAKER_05: Which I was like, that does seem like a problem.
- 49:17SPEAKER_05: That feels like a request for a lawsuit.
- 49:23SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 49:23SPEAKER_05: It does.
- 49:24SPEAKER_05: Oh hey, look, it is a DeLorean with a Cybertruck.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: See?
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: It's the same color, same angles.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: I think the DeLorean is cuter.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: Dearan wins.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: At least it looks a little like, hey, I'm gonna zip around.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: The Cybertruck just looks like he's gonna lumber.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: Gonna lumber.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Like he's got bad knees and he just kind of lumbers around.
- 49:53SPEAKER_05: It's my spirit animal.
- 49:55SPEAKER_05: And its name is Chuck.
- 49:58SPEAKER_05: Chuck the Cybertruck lumbering around.
- 50:03SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: There it be.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: There it is.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: Well, um, do you have any good things to say?
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: Not about the cyber truck, but any good things for the week.
- 50:16SPEAKER_05: I was like, I do not have anything good to share about the cyber truck.
- 50:21SPEAKER_05: Um oh man, I think, let's see.
- 50:26SPEAKER_05: What what is something good?
- 50:28SPEAKER_05: Fall does seem to officially have landed.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: Hallelujah.
- 50:35SPEAKER_05: It is, it seemed praise be.
- 50:38SPEAKER_05: It seems to be fall, which I I'm I'm like, okay, we did it.
- 50:44SPEAKER_05: We made it to fall.
- 50:45SPEAKER_05: There was one day.
- 50:47SPEAKER_05: Let me double check again so I don't misspeak, but there was one day where I was like, it might be 80 again, but I think even that went away.
- 50:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think so.
- 50:56SPEAKER_05: We're still 79 on Monday, might hit 80.
- 51:01SPEAKER_05: Nah, not happy about that, but might be 78 on Saturday.
- 51:08SPEAKER_05: It's getting close.
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: These are like, these are the fall temperatures.
- 51:12SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 51:13SPEAKER_05: I'm happy that it is fall.
- 51:16SPEAKER_05: The leaves have now started to change, which I'm like, great.
- 51:20SPEAKER_05: It's about to happen.
- 51:22SPEAKER_05: Which I've learned has nothing to do with temperature and more to do with light.
- 51:26SPEAKER_05: But uh we're getting there.
- 51:29SPEAKER_05: We're getting somewhere now.
- 51:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:31SPEAKER_05: So that is good.
- 51:34SPEAKER_05: And uh let's see, how many days left?
- 51:37SPEAKER_05: I'm leaving my job and I have doop doop doop doop doop.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: Today is the 20th.
- 51:54SPEAKER_03: So ten days.
- 51:56SPEAKER_03: Ten days until my last day.
- 52:00SPEAKER_05: It's happening.
- 52:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:01SPEAKER_05: Ten days left.
- 52:02SPEAKER_05: It's happening.
- 52:05SPEAKER_05: What can we set on fire after you're done?
- 52:08SPEAKER_05: A Cybertruck, obviously.
- 52:11SPEAKER_05: We just gotta find find one.
- 52:19SPEAKER_05: Just throw some uh what are those called?
- 52:22SPEAKER_05: Molotov cocktail that cyber truck.
- 52:25SPEAKER_02: That's what we gotta do.
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: I was thinking more like a sparkler or something.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: But we could Molotov cocktail it.
- 52:33unknown: Yeah.
- 52:34SPEAKER_02: That would be more instantaneous than a slow burn.
- 52:38SPEAKER_05: Quite quickly.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: It would uh oh my gosh.
- 52:44SPEAKER_05: It would go, it would go quick if we did that.
- 52:47SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 52:48SPEAKER_02: Probably shouldn't do that.
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: Seems illegal.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Less so it's maybe not.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Should probably talk about that less on a public podcast.
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know.
- 52:59SPEAKER_05: Fine.
- 53:00SPEAKER_05: I will not abuse any Tesla anything since Trump wrote an executive order last year that prevents people from hurting or harming cyber anything from Tesla.
- 53:18SPEAKER_05: Do you remember that?
- 53:20SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 53:21SPEAKER_05: Was it that was 2025, right?
- 53:23SPEAKER_05: Or did that happen earlier this year?
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: No, that was, I think that was 2025 when Doge was still a thing.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: He and his doge bags were ripping apart the government funding structure.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: We are gonna be set so far behind.
- 53:48SPEAKER_01: I mean, assuming our societies last as they are for another 20 years, we are going to be so far behind for like the next 30, 40 years because of what he has done technologically, like uh I mean we're probably all gonna be slaves, so yes, we will be slaves to the AI, or we'll just be destitute.
- 54:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's gonna be Elon and Grok, and they own us all.
- 54:17SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be great.
- 54:18SPEAKER_05: That's awesome.
- 54:19SPEAKER_05: Can't wait.
- 54:20SPEAKER_05: Oh, there's a thing on whitehouse.gov that says welcome to the golden age, and it's Trump pointing.
- 54:28SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 54:29SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 54:30SPEAKER_03: That's cool.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: You can sign up for updates from the Trump White House.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: Laura?
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: Beyond him just randomly spouting stuff on truth or the all the updates.
- 54:47SPEAKER_05: Just all the updates, got it.
- 54:49SPEAKER_05: From the Trump White House, you join now and you give him your contact information, you probably end up on a list somewhere.
- 54:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, most certainly.

- 56:48SPEAKER_01: Safeway may not be.
- 56:49SPEAKER_01: Maybe I'm thinking pay less.

- 56:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_01: It's fantastic.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: So, like tonight, I will probably I need to clean my kitchen, load and unload my dishwasher, and then I need to make sure I eat a real meal.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: And so I will do all of that during our hour.
- 57:04SPEAKER_01: And I'm I just need the body doubling, the accountability, the time set aside for it.
