- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:11Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. They just don't want to be here with
- 0:15Speaker 1: all this concert nonsense going on. We're thinking Mary, it's Romstein.
- 0:20Speaker 1: He seems to be a relaxed kind of guy, So
- 0:22Speaker 1: relax if you ask Webb, Yeah, what are you saying now?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Oh my god? Does sound high? Um me personally? Um
- 0:34Speaker 1: I just so, I'm gonna have her call in. She'll
- 0:38Speaker 1: give us an upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. The show off.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So let's get to some of these emails. That one's
- 0:47Speaker 1: too long. Block your ears. I don't really here, Oh
- 0:53Speaker 1: my god. The schedule comes out in late April or
- 0:56Speaker 1: early May whenever it was. They start work on Miami
- 0:59Speaker 1: then like travel plans. Wow, it's a little bit. It's
- 1:04Speaker 1: a little bit of a turn. That duce just took
- 1:06Speaker 1: a heel turn right there. We're gonna make a run
- 1:09Speaker 1: when next year. This is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan.
- 1:15Speaker 1: All right, Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:19Speaker 1: at chi Let's Stadium, and it's a big show. For us,
- 1:23Speaker 1: it's it's deuce, it's tomorrow, it's Paul, it's myself. Alex
- 1:27Speaker 1: is going to call in from Palm Beach University or
- 1:30Speaker 1: Palm Beach Coast Atlantic, something like Palm Beach Atlantic University,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Palm Beach Atlantic University, a mouthful. So I did a
- 1:37Speaker 1: little research, Fred, I know this was the utmost importance.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I did not play there. Oh you didn't know. I
- 1:42Speaker 1: talked to my boys and we came up with all
- 1:44Speaker 1: about Paul. You came up with a bunch of different
- 1:46Speaker 1: places in that general vicinity. This was not one of them. Okay,
- 1:50Speaker 1: all right. Anyway, and Matt's in the booth um. So
- 1:53Speaker 1: we've got all that to talk about. Plus picks, our
- 1:57Speaker 1: first pick show one last year. I have that. Yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 1: we'll talk, we get that, we'll get to that. We
- 2:03Speaker 1: have to. Yeah, I brought. I brought last season's results
- 2:05Speaker 1: just as a refresher. Nice, nice Dan. All right. Um,
- 2:10Speaker 1: So Patriots had their first official practice yesterday down there,
- 2:16Speaker 1: and all the media but could talk about was like that,
- 2:19Speaker 1: this isn't a football facility. Yeah, okay, Well it's tough
- 2:24Speaker 1: to find a football facility that's not being used during
- 2:27Speaker 1: football season, correct, also, to be fair, there are college
- 2:31Speaker 1: games now being played in baseball like fields right now.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Like I remember, I think it was actually I'm gonna
- 2:37Speaker 1: bring up Notre Dame. They had their Shamrock series in Fenway. Yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: so what happens, Yeah, it happens that the shot of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the goal post that I mean that was yeah, I
- 2:49Speaker 1: mean that's you know, they don't have goal posts, they
- 2:51Speaker 1: don't have a football, they don't need goal posts. So
- 2:52Speaker 1: they Patriots put together a goal post. So it looked
- 2:56Speaker 1: like a throwback. It looked like, yeah, maybe h put
- 2:59Speaker 1: that to other in May and you know, a bullshit mission,
- 3:02Speaker 1: no purchase them. But you know, like you know, while
- 3:06Speaker 1: we were doing our show, Beatle and Zoe had four
- 3:09Speaker 1: hours on if is this a good idea? Like does
- 3:14Speaker 1: it really matter like whether they win or loot? You know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: it's it's like maybe Belichick wanted another opportunity for team bonding.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, there's a lot of new faces and yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 1: some of the guys talking about that today being asked
- 3:27Speaker 1: about you know, being away. We're talking to Paul, I
- 3:29Speaker 1: mean some of the you know, older players that have
- 3:31Speaker 1: kids and families and you were just in Vegas for
- 3:34Speaker 1: a week. And you're back for you know, a handful
- 3:36Speaker 1: of days, and then you're back on the road for
- 3:37Speaker 1: another week. So I think those things are challenging. David Andrews,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I know, saying in his press conference today that you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: it's all about football. We're focused. So you know, I'm
- 3:46Speaker 1: not I'm not going to kill them if they, you know,
- 3:48Speaker 1: happen to lose the game. I think for me, it's
- 3:51Speaker 1: just about you know, starting well and playing relatively clean.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I mean, it's a it's a theme that I'll be
- 3:55Speaker 1: hitting on right through the pregame show. But you know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: if they come out and they and they look ready
- 3:59Speaker 1: to play, oh my god, that's a lot to look forward.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Just don't fumble it, got stop fumbling it, um, you know.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So I just I just hope that, like you know,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you don't want to make too much out of like
- 4:11Speaker 1: this being well that was unnecessary because they lost the game,
- 4:15Speaker 1: like you know, But I do think that if they
- 4:17Speaker 1: don't come out strong and they don't look focused from
- 4:19Speaker 1: the get go, and they don't look like a team
- 4:21Speaker 1: that took extra strides to make sure that they start
- 4:24Speaker 1: on time and you know, play at least a reasonably
- 4:27Speaker 1: clean football game, for a week one that you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: that to me will be kind of the sign of
- 4:31Speaker 1: like maybe this was other than the money it costs,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and it's not our money. So what a week here?
- 4:35Speaker 1: I mean, let's say they didn't do this, they did
- 4:38Speaker 1: the same thing they always do. Maybe they go down
- 4:40Speaker 1: on Friday and they lose again. All right, you know,
- 4:44Speaker 1: same thing. You know, they lost again in Miami. You
- 4:47Speaker 1: know what. No one would say they should have gotten
- 4:49Speaker 1: down on Tuesday. No, they shouldn't. But but at least
- 4:52Speaker 1: they're you know, they're trying something. Yeah, you know, so
- 4:54Speaker 1: you try something. If it doesn't work, you don't do
- 4:57Speaker 1: it again. Yeah, I'm with Deuce. I don't think it work.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So it doesn't work. I don't think it's you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it has hard itself to what I I'm much more
- 5:06Speaker 1: concerned with the things that that Mike brought up, you know, like, yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you're away in Las Vegas for a week, like you
- 5:12Speaker 1: sort of like check off the days training camp. Okay,
- 5:15Speaker 1: so yeah, it's a little it's it's outside of our
- 5:18Speaker 1: normal routine. We're not seeing our families as much as
- 5:20Speaker 1: we normally do. But when training camps over, things get
- 5:23Speaker 1: back to normal. But wait, we got to go to
- 5:25Speaker 1: Las Vegas for a week. Okay, that's understandable. And you
- 5:27Speaker 1: know we we we often have these joint practices. So
- 5:31Speaker 1: that's that's, that's part part for the course. That's what
- 5:33Speaker 1: We'll wait a minute, and you know before week one
- 5:35Speaker 1: we're gonna go away for another week. So like the
- 5:38Speaker 1: whole team bonding thing, I think can go the other
- 5:40Speaker 1: way in a hurry, like I can't. I'm not sure
- 5:43Speaker 1: how it just gets how much team bonding you get
- 5:45Speaker 1: from dressing in a hotel a half hour away from
- 5:49Speaker 1: the soccer field that you're you're practicing in that does
- 5:51Speaker 1: not look suitable for professional athletes to be on just
- 5:55Speaker 1: visually looks like my yard. Um, I mean you see
- 6:00Speaker 1: all the browns. Do you ever see brown spots of
- 6:02Speaker 1: grass in Florida? Like, I've never seen that. Florida grass
- 6:06Speaker 1: is different than grass we have up here. Anyway. It's
- 6:09Speaker 1: usually green because it's constantly watered. Yeah, but no, but
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's also a thicker type of grass. I know what
- 6:15Speaker 1: you're talking about. But I mean that's you know, usually
- 6:18Speaker 1: athletic fields don't have that grass. But again, I'm not
- 6:20Speaker 1: gonna this one probably does it might I don't know.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It's all brown. I know that where we used to
- 6:26Speaker 1: I used to go to school in Tampa, and you know,
- 6:27Speaker 1: we go down to the park and play football. And
- 6:30Speaker 1: if you see like a brown dirt hill, do not
- 6:34Speaker 1: sit on it because it's a red ant hill and
- 6:38Speaker 1: they will bite the hell out of you. If you
- 6:40Speaker 1: told everybody that before they went down. Yeah, they were
- 6:42Speaker 1: all They're all over friends here, They're all over the places.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So I do have I have some questions as to
- 6:49Speaker 1: you know, but the logistics of it all and it
- 6:52Speaker 1: and it kind of you know, started when I read
- 6:54Speaker 1: Mike Greece on Sunday saying him openly wondering, if Bill
- 6:58Speaker 1: had to do it over again, given the humidity and
- 7:02Speaker 1: heat that they practiced in all summer, what do you
- 7:04Speaker 1: have done it differently? That to me is not like
- 7:07Speaker 1: Mike Reiss just saying off the top of his head.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I think Mike Reese might have some information there that
- 7:12Speaker 1: he's sort of thrown out there. Now again, it's not
- 7:14Speaker 1: going to be why they lose. If they don't win,
- 7:16Speaker 1: that's not because they're down there. And if they do win,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it's not because they're down there. They're gonna play better
- 7:21Speaker 1: like Mike says, they're not gonna give up an Needyard
- 7:24Speaker 1: touchdown drive and follow it up with a pick six
- 7:26Speaker 1: like they did the last time they played down there.
- 7:28Speaker 1: If they win, that's probably not going to happen, right,
- 7:31Speaker 1: they'll play better. Yeah, I will say, the weather here
- 7:34Speaker 1: right now, especially today, is much different than it is
- 7:36Speaker 1: in Florida. Right now. It's like sixty degrees right now.
- 7:39Speaker 1: But I'll tell you, dodging that Romstein set up, I
- 7:42Speaker 1: kind of get that part of it today when we're
- 7:44Speaker 1: like watching out for forklifts and giant boxes. And I
- 7:48Speaker 1: think that's the reason why there. You know, Fred brought
- 7:51Speaker 1: that up yesterday to you and I were talking about it,
- 7:52Speaker 1: and I think, just get out of Dodge. There's a
- 7:54Speaker 1: lot of crap going on here right now. Well that's
- 7:56Speaker 1: what I was thinking too, just every day them walking
- 7:58Speaker 1: through there, having the get right through this area where
- 8:01Speaker 1: all the loading dock is and all these crew members
- 8:03Speaker 1: and everything. So yeah, I mean it's a little thing.
- 8:05Speaker 1: You get out to the field, it's quiet. So I mean,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I don't, you know, I'm not like, oh, this is
- 8:08Speaker 1: so distracting, how could they possibly deal with this? But um,
- 8:12Speaker 1: you know, it's just I think they've been taking a
- 8:14Speaker 1: lot of flak for it, so hopefully it translates into
- 8:17Speaker 1: but I think it is is it too much flak?
- 8:19Speaker 1: I like, are we making too big a deal about this?
- 8:22Speaker 1: That's what I'm wondering, Like either way, like this is
- 8:26Speaker 1: a great idea or what are they doing? Like? Either way,
- 8:29Speaker 1: are we making too big a deal? I gotta I
- 8:31Speaker 1: gotta be honest. I mean, I said the Paul upstairs,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and like nobody's a bigger fan of like you know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: interesting coaching moves and we gotta get bonding and you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: try to you know, get this team together. I love
- 8:40Speaker 1: that kind of stuff, you know. For me, this is
- 8:42Speaker 1: just it's right now, it's feeling like a lot. It's
- 8:45Speaker 1: feeling like a lot, even going down to today having
- 8:47Speaker 1: to move practice because a thunderstorm, so you know, it's
- 8:50Speaker 1: like even down there, they're you know, having an adjusting
- 8:52Speaker 1: So it feels like a lot. To me, it feels
- 8:55Speaker 1: like a lot of effort for hopefully what, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you get some kind of tangible result that you know
- 9:00Speaker 1: you're you're looking for. Um. But I think people are
- 9:04Speaker 1: spending too much time on it like this. If this
- 9:06Speaker 1: was reverse, and the Dolphins had came up here on
- 9:08Speaker 1: Tuesday versus Saturday or whatever day they came. I feel
- 9:11Speaker 1: like it would barely make the headlines. Well, I don't know.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think Patriots fans would kill them. I think it
- 9:17Speaker 1: would be an absolute major chess checkers there right already.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I know our fans and we would be you see,
- 9:24Speaker 1: he's wearing sleeves. Friend, it's like you weren't here tomorrow.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But do you hear that Houston Texans came and they
- 9:30Speaker 1: decided we're gonna wear varsity football jackets and our fans
- 9:35Speaker 1: it didn't go well, It didn't go well. We spoiler
- 9:38Speaker 1: alert didn't work. But like anything other teams do that
- 9:41Speaker 1: are out of the norm. We we assume that it's
- 9:44Speaker 1: because we're in their head. How many times have we heard,
- 9:47Speaker 1: you know, when they come up here in December and
- 9:49Speaker 1: they come out for walms you know, Steve Nelson always
- 9:51Speaker 1: tells the story. They come out for walm ups, they
- 9:52Speaker 1: have no sleeves on. They come out for the game,
- 9:54Speaker 1: they have sleeves on. We know we had them. It
- 9:56Speaker 1: was over. We're in their heads, right, It's and you
- 9:59Speaker 1: know what, it's probably not wrong because if you think
- 10:01Speaker 1: like that. There's probably something to it. I know if
- 10:04Speaker 1: I was playing, I'd want to be as warm as possible.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Me too, but you know I'm a little frail. Why
- 10:09Speaker 1: why would Why do I have to battle being cold
- 10:12Speaker 1: in addition to battling the other team. I don't be
- 10:14Speaker 1: a hero. Just just be warm, right, happy, maximize yourself.
- 10:19Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean that's been a big advantage. We
- 10:21Speaker 1: would intentionally leave the snow on the slot to matter.
- 10:24Speaker 1: These are these are real things. I'm not I'm not
- 10:26Speaker 1: making this stuff up. Fred will back me up. Oh yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 1: we intentionally leave leave the snow on the sideline when
- 10:30Speaker 1: we're playing like a southern team or a warm weather team.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So when they come up here and like, do you
- 10:35Speaker 1: remember Arizona that year? Oh yeah, Kurt Warner looked like
- 10:39Speaker 1: you wanted to be anywhere on the planet other than
- 10:42Speaker 1: lost the game. The moment they stepped up, they lost
- 10:44Speaker 1: the game. It was over this. If that happened in
- 10:47Speaker 1: college football, like someone say Alabama came up to play
- 10:50Speaker 1: Ohio State in the middle of December and that happened,
- 10:54Speaker 1: it would be yeah. Well, I mean there's an old story.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Russ France has had his helicopter license. And one day
- 11:02Speaker 1: it was you know, I don't know if the Jets
- 11:04Speaker 1: were in town or something like that, and they had
- 11:07Speaker 1: done what Paul said. It was the old Fox World stadium.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They piled all the snow around the side. Well actually
- 11:12Speaker 1: the snow was still on the field and everything, and
- 11:15Speaker 1: so Russ Francis buzzes over the stadium and his helicopter
- 11:18Speaker 1: and he goes, oh, I'll clean off the field for
- 11:21Speaker 1: the team. And he goes in with his the helicopter
- 11:23Speaker 1: low and the propellers blow all the snow to the side,
- 11:26Speaker 1: and Patrick Sullivan comes running out like what do you
- 11:30Speaker 1: do when we want it on the field so that
- 11:32Speaker 1: they see it. It wasn't the Jet. It must have
- 11:35Speaker 1: been some southern team, but he got in trouble for
- 11:37Speaker 1: clearing the field with his helicopter. It's funny. There's always
- 11:40Speaker 1: little Shenanians going on, and it's you know, it's a
- 11:43Speaker 1: certain point though, it's like all the Shenanigans. It's like,
- 11:46Speaker 1: let's just line up and play and practice. And I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I think there's also just like a fatigue right now
- 11:52Speaker 1: of the summer and you know, all the different the
- 11:55Speaker 1: offensive coordinator stuff and just the storylines that we've just
- 11:57Speaker 1: been talking and talking and now it's like kind of
- 11:59Speaker 1: a new little treats up of like oh now they're there,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and I mean, we have something else that I have
- 12:04Speaker 1: something else to talk about it. That's what I said
- 12:06Speaker 1: to you yesterday. I think people were just tired of
- 12:08Speaker 1: coordinator talk because if they were here, they'd be all right,
- 12:11Speaker 1: who was there? Who wasn't? This is just kind of
- 12:13Speaker 1: weak one, nothing really to say. I mean, I gotta
- 12:15Speaker 1: admit Felger and Mats were cracking me up yesterday with
- 12:18Speaker 1: you know, they playing the audio with the chopper going
- 12:20Speaker 1: and then they started playing the Rambo theme song, which
- 12:22Speaker 1: just like so had me going they're talking like that
- 12:28Speaker 1: down I mean it did. It sounded like you know,
- 12:34Speaker 1: and I don't know if when they did a site
- 12:36Speaker 1: check maybe there was no like planes coming and going.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I don't know because obviously it was researched the plight path, right,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I mean, I mean when Belichick was talking, it sounded
- 12:47Speaker 1: like a plane landed on his shoulder. Yeah, it looked
- 12:49Speaker 1: like that picture of that beach that has planes landing
- 12:51Speaker 1: right on top of it like that. That's what I'm
- 12:54Speaker 1: pretty sure that part of the scouting for isn't like,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know, will the press conference sound okay? I don't
- 13:00Speaker 1: think they care about that. And actually a lot of
- 13:04Speaker 1: noise is something they want, you know, practicing in the
- 13:07Speaker 1: noise is probably not. Yeah, that's probably not. The Only
- 13:11Speaker 1: other thought I had was there's been plenty of choppers
- 13:13Speaker 1: landing in a practice all summer long. Remember a couple
- 13:19Speaker 1: of practices, was like, still we're still idling. They were
- 13:25Speaker 1: having fun with it. I mean it was it was funny.
- 13:27Speaker 1: But yeah, like I agree with you, Fred, the Bill
- 13:29Speaker 1: probably doesn't mind the noise in terms of practicing in it, right, communication,
- 13:33Speaker 1: communication purposes, stay focused, stay focused? All right, Well, I
- 13:37Speaker 1: mean tonight we've got a first the first game. We've
- 13:40Speaker 1: got the Bills playing the Rams on nbcsdsandrales. Wrong, everybody
- 13:47Speaker 1: and rightly so, all aboard the Bills hype train. I mean,
- 13:50Speaker 1: that's just the most Super Bowl pict you see Buffalo Bills.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Rightly so not you know, well, they've got the most
- 13:54Speaker 1: complete team I think right now. Yeah, Josh Allen, he's
- 13:58Speaker 1: he's been fantastic. Yeah, it's the status on all the
- 14:01Speaker 1: injuries from the summer that they've had, though those guys.
- 14:04Speaker 1: It looks like they're all kind of raring to go.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I think. I mean, I saw players seemed like he
- 14:09Speaker 1: was like maybe limited but practicing. I think he was
- 14:12Speaker 1: an elbow issue. So it's a great, great first game.
- 14:15Speaker 1: There was a big thing on Twitter Josh McDaniel had
- 14:18Speaker 1: his first injury or practice participation report and they didn't
- 14:22Speaker 1: have They had zero guys on it. Oh really, oh yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 1: and everyone wow some kind of did they quote him
- 14:30Speaker 1: on that? You know, people on what it sounds like
- 14:35Speaker 1: in terms of the practice participation. Thank you, Paul Closer
- 14:41Speaker 1: to Home. This Miami report is no joke. I know
- 14:45Speaker 1: who is it? Wattle's got a quad? Yeah, like WoT
- 14:49Speaker 1: hasn't really done anything yeah for a while, so I
- 14:53Speaker 1: think his status is in question. Yeah. Um, but I
- 14:56Speaker 1: mean they have some important players on here, Toronto Armstead.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I know it says, you know, just not injury related
- 15:02Speaker 1: rest but not injury related in week one, Um, you know,
- 15:06Speaker 1: Chase Edmonds, Miles Gaskin. I think those are two guys
- 15:08Speaker 1: that factor prominently in their offense. Nick Needham is probably
- 15:12Speaker 1: going to replace Byron Jones at corner and obviously Waddle
- 15:16Speaker 1: even Van Ginkle give him the vank ankle. Yeah. Um,
- 15:21Speaker 1: and that was another one that was not injury related.
- 15:23Speaker 1: But um, three guys listed as rest odd yeah oh
- 15:29Speaker 1: yeah yeah yeah. Well now Waddle hasn't really done much
- 15:32Speaker 1: and Armstead hasn't done much. Yeah, and Armstead is a
- 15:35Speaker 1: key acquisition, he's the left tackle. So but the Peyton
- 15:39Speaker 1: and the Patriots size too interesting with I mean, of
- 15:42Speaker 1: course time Montgomery was out there that was interesting. Is
- 15:45Speaker 1: but knee listed as a knee I think we all
- 15:47Speaker 1: thought it was ankle. I did. And Isaiah Winn with
- 15:51Speaker 1: the back, which which like kind of fit for me
- 15:54Speaker 1: because it's been in and out. Couldn't tell what exactly
- 15:57Speaker 1: it was. Backs can nag, but that's it. Facts can nag.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Do you think this is going to be a problem
- 16:03Speaker 1: that that's that's a week or two. They don't just
- 16:05Speaker 1: go away quickly, you know. Now we don't know what
- 16:08Speaker 1: it is. Could it could be a bruise back there,
- 16:11Speaker 1: It could be you know, something more serious, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: one of those compressed vertebrae or something like that. I
- 16:17Speaker 1: don't know. Good though back is affects everything. I mean,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's you know, and to Linger and what was the
- 16:23Speaker 1: last one, Paul Jacoby with a with a knee as well. Yes,
- 16:25Speaker 1: that so, Yeah, and you would sort of hinted at
- 16:28Speaker 1: that with Jacobe Myers. We haven't really seen him look
- 16:31Speaker 1: normal since that play in Vegas early in the Vegas game.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Would so, I mean some things to keep an eye on,
- 16:39Speaker 1: but just a couple of guys as opposed to I
- 16:42Speaker 1: think eleven from Miami. Yeah, and we'll see how that
- 16:45Speaker 1: progresses during the course of the week. On Friday, the
- 16:47Speaker 1: status could come out and you know, all these guys
- 16:50Speaker 1: are good to go, right, who knows? Right? Um, did
- 16:54Speaker 1: you post the stuff that we wrote for you today?
- 16:57Speaker 1: Is that posted yet? Or? No? Oh? Fred you no?
- 17:01Speaker 1: The round Table, the round Table, thanks for thanks for reading? No, no,
- 17:04Speaker 1: not yet. Why would I do tomorrow? I just have
- 17:08Speaker 1: to I write mine, I know, but you don't you
- 17:09Speaker 1: read what everybody else reads? No writes? No, no, no,
- 17:13Speaker 1: that'll go up tomorrow. Okay, so I won't give it away. Yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 1: now we got some good some good questions the round table. Yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 1: get to marry on that. Sorry for him. Sorry, I've
- 17:22Speaker 1: been doing it through the preseason. I guess no one cares.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I will be the first to admit I do not
- 17:29Speaker 1: read a lot of the stuff anything that I don't
- 17:31Speaker 1: write on our side. You read the Globe, boy, you
- 17:33Speaker 1: were all over that today. Was yep, you know what,
- 17:37Speaker 1: that's a good point. That's a really good point. And
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'm being dead serious because there's no more you know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: sentlance of objectivity there is with us on patients dot Com.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I want to apologize to our listeners who I may
- 17:52Speaker 1: have been given the wrong idea that there's been some
- 17:55Speaker 1: concerns during the course of training camp because I read
- 17:58Speaker 1: the Globes preview today. Yeah, and I am no longer
- 18:01Speaker 1: concerned about any element aspect or anything about you know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: this show. We love Jacoby Myers, you know, like we're
- 18:09Speaker 1: big fans at Jacoby Myers. But as much as I
- 18:13Speaker 1: like him, I don't think he's like one of the
- 18:15Speaker 1: best pass catchers in the NFL. That people don't you
- 18:18Speaker 1: know that, Yeah, you know, that's that's I don't know, man.
- 18:21Speaker 1: There's a lot of good receivers in the NFL, and
- 18:24Speaker 1: you know, Jacoby is good. I could literally spend the
- 18:27Speaker 1: next half hour picking at individual things that are read
- 18:30Speaker 1: in that, but one of the things that was most
- 18:31Speaker 1: egregious was Pierre Strong was prolific running and catching the
- 18:35Speaker 1: ball in college. I wrote Pierre Strong's draft profile. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: spoke to his college coach who told me he will
- 18:43Speaker 1: need significant work as a past. Yeah. I was going
- 18:45Speaker 1: to say, prolific. Is he cut sixty two passes in
- 18:48Speaker 1: forty eight games. Yeah, that's like a little more than
- 18:51Speaker 1: one a game. Yeah, we have to watch our adjectives. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 1: I mean what Paul was doing that though, it was
- 18:56Speaker 1: freaking me out. Imagine somebody going through my thing and
- 18:59Speaker 1: you know like that. You know, sometimes you just like
- 19:01Speaker 1: write something you're not thinking of, Like I kind of
- 19:03Speaker 1: used to run all I know, but this is what
- 19:07Speaker 1: I'm talking about, especially in these times, and you know,
- 19:11Speaker 1: we're not in the dynasty anymore. We're not right about
- 19:14Speaker 1: Rob Gronkowskier, Tom Brady. I think there's a responsibility that
- 19:20Speaker 1: those of us who cover the team have to be accurate.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Well you know, I know it's subjective, but to be
- 19:25Speaker 1: as accurate as you can be, because you know, like,
- 19:28Speaker 1: if I'm reading this thing today and like Jacoby Myers
- 19:31Speaker 1: is the best pass catcher in the NFL, and you
- 19:35Speaker 1: know Pierre Strong was prolific, I'm like, let's go and
- 19:39Speaker 1: then it doesn't happen that way, and I'm even more disappointed. Yeah,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, I would like's actually rely on what they're reading. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I would say like, I wouldn't say he's one of
- 19:49Speaker 1: the best wide receivers. I would probably word it and
- 19:51Speaker 1: say he's one of the most consistent or reliable. I
- 19:55Speaker 1: wouldn't say best. Yeah, Like, I mean, it's just back
- 19:58Speaker 1: to my stats, Like, I mean, he's what like a
- 19:59Speaker 1: s in sixty seventy catch guy, the solid you need
- 20:02Speaker 1: those guys, they're better than average. But you know, I
- 20:05Speaker 1: don't think he's a somebody who pushes the pace. Yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, the first thing I think of is all
- 20:11Speaker 1: the great receivers that are in the league now, the
- 20:13Speaker 1: young guys, and you know, there's so many great receivers,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Like there's no where you're putting him in the same
- 20:19Speaker 1: list of Davante Adams, Like absolutely not right, Like he's consistent. Right,
- 20:23Speaker 1: we'll give him that, And we've talked and we're happy
- 20:26Speaker 1: to have him, and we're happy I think personal friend
- 20:30Speaker 1: at this point. Hey, we are exactly twenty four hours
- 20:33Speaker 1: apart in age. Like he's born twenty fourth, nineteen ninety two.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I'm born December twenty didn't do nineteen ninety two I
- 20:42Speaker 1: should have. I don't need this, did you. I don't
- 20:44Speaker 1: get out. I don't need to find out my co
- 20:46Speaker 1: workers were born after I graduated college. I really don't
- 20:49Speaker 1: need that. I I'm not here for that. Yeah. Good.
- 20:53Speaker 1: In nineteen ninety two, O god, I was working. I was.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I had a full time job. Yeah, I had a responsibility,
- 21:04Speaker 1: grown as man. I wouldn't say that that was drinking
- 21:08Speaker 1: like the reference ninety two, I was on my fourth arrest,
- 21:12Speaker 1: so oh oh gosh, fred fred fourth. But yeah, I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and in all seriousness, I have tremendous respect for Jim McBride.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I do. I really. I think I didn't name a name.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I didn't say. People aren't doumb they know who we're
- 21:28Speaker 1: talking about. It was he does a great job. He
- 21:31Speaker 1: in particular does a great job with injury information. He's
- 21:35Speaker 1: he's like one of the go to guys, which has
- 21:38Speaker 1: kind of worried me that I haven't seen much from
- 21:39Speaker 1: him About Tai Montgomery. It's one of the reasons why
- 21:42Speaker 1: I'm not bullish on Montgomery's immediate availability. Um, but I
- 21:47Speaker 1: think that if you we did this a little bit
- 21:50Speaker 1: on on my show yesterday Fred with Felger and mass
- 21:53Speaker 1: And you know, one of the things that that Fellger
- 21:55Speaker 1: asked me is like, well, what are some of the
- 21:57Speaker 1: things like like how could it? How could it we
- 22:00Speaker 1: we have missed all this, Like what are some of
- 22:02Speaker 1: the things that we could could be wrong about? And
- 22:05Speaker 1: how could this go better than we think it's going
- 22:07Speaker 1: to go. And I said, well, I think there's a
- 22:10Speaker 1: logical path for that. I think you start off, you
- 22:12Speaker 1: have four challenging games to open the season. We'll find
- 22:15Speaker 1: a way to go two and two in those four games.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And I think that to do that, you're beating teams
- 22:21Speaker 1: that I think is similar to you. Miami's one of them,
- 22:23Speaker 1: Pittsburgh is one of them. Yeah, you know, I think
- 22:26Speaker 1: baltim was probably a little bit better, But that's at home.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You should be able to find find a way to
- 22:32Speaker 1: have a chance to win two of those three games.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I think Gak Green Bays a tough ask. Okay, I'm
- 22:37Speaker 1: not telling you you can't win it, but I think
- 22:38Speaker 1: that's a tough ass. Well let's see how they are
- 22:40Speaker 1: this year, right, Yeah, No, but I mean assuming Aaron
- 22:42Speaker 1: Rodgers is Aaron, yes, you know, and he doesn't get hurt,
- 22:45Speaker 1: which is probably the big X factor. I'm sure he will. Yeah, right,
- 22:48Speaker 1: But if they go two and two, and then the
- 22:50Speaker 1: next four games after that, I think is some kind
- 22:53Speaker 1: of order of Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago Jets. Those are four
- 22:59Speaker 1: games that you really should win with no Deshaun Watson
- 23:02Speaker 1: in Cleveland. Now Cleveland is the one, you know, So
- 23:06Speaker 1: let's just say, for argument's sake, you come out of
- 23:07Speaker 1: that eight game stretch six and two, Well, here we go,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and that's where we go. And this is what I
- 23:12Speaker 1: said with Mike. I said, all of a sudden, all
- 23:13Speaker 1: the questions that the players might be having right now
- 23:16Speaker 1: that you know, the crisis of confidence that might be
- 23:18Speaker 1: going on, specifically an offense that kind of disappears if
- 23:21Speaker 1: you get off to a six and two start and
- 23:23Speaker 1: he goes, well, and he looks at me, He's like,
- 23:25Speaker 1: that's really not that hard. That's not that hard of
- 23:28Speaker 1: an argument to make, and I laughed, and I said,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I've worked at Patriots dot Com for twenty three years.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I've been making arguments like that my whole life, right, basically,
- 23:36Speaker 1: like it's not you're not asking someone to say something
- 23:40Speaker 1: that's not true, right, Like getting that you don't have
- 23:45Speaker 1: to be bullish on the team. You don't have to
- 23:48Speaker 1: make up stuff about the team to be bullish on
- 23:50Speaker 1: the team. You don't have to say that Jacoby Myers
- 23:52Speaker 1: is one of the best pass catchers that no one
- 23:53Speaker 1: talks about, to say that Jacoby Myers will be a
- 23:58Speaker 1: solid contributing player to it off. That might be better
- 24:01Speaker 1: than we think if they can put the running game together,
- 24:04Speaker 1: like you can do that without carrying on a little
- 24:08Speaker 1: bit too far, right, Yeah, I thought that was I
- 24:09Speaker 1: heard you saying that yesterday, Paul, and that was a
- 24:11Speaker 1: really good point. I didn't really frame it that way
- 24:14Speaker 1: until you said it was just that these first two
- 24:16Speaker 1: games are kind of against teams that are writing around you.
- 24:20Speaker 1: It's right around that mix of the second level teams
- 24:22Speaker 1: that are going to be vine for playoff spots and
- 24:24Speaker 1: trying not to pump this game up too much because
- 24:27Speaker 1: it's week one and you know, like you feel like
- 24:29Speaker 1: you can always overcome some poor performances in September, but like,
- 24:33Speaker 1: as you said that, you know they overcame the Miami
- 24:35Speaker 1: loss last year and stable to win the playoffs. But
- 24:38Speaker 1: you know that's rare. You really need to maximize your
- 24:41Speaker 1: chances when you're you know, this kind of team that
- 24:43Speaker 1: is going to need every win to you know, be
- 24:45Speaker 1: there at the end. Right, the teams that you figure
- 24:48Speaker 1: you're going to be close to when the standings you're
- 24:50Speaker 1: sort of good win and figure, we have to win
- 24:51Speaker 1: this game. Pittsburgh is a game I look at as
- 24:54Speaker 1: kind of a must win, right, Like last year I
- 24:58Speaker 1: would have looked at Indie in Miami like that. They
- 25:03Speaker 1: lost all three and still found a way to make
- 25:05Speaker 1: the playoffs over those two teams. Yeah, I think that's rare. Yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 1: I think when you expect to be similar to a
- 25:12Speaker 1: team like the Chargers missed out by losing to the Patriots, right,
- 25:16Speaker 1: you know that was if the Chargers win that game,
- 25:18Speaker 1: they make the playoffs and the Patriots don't. Ye, Like,
- 25:21Speaker 1: that's usually the way it happens for the Patriots. They
- 25:24Speaker 1: lost those games, but still managed to finish the head
- 25:27Speaker 1: of Indie blew it at the end, right, they killed themselves.
- 25:31Speaker 1: They were in the driver Miami too, I mean Miami.
- 25:33Speaker 1: All they had to do was win that game against Tennessee,
- 25:35Speaker 1: which was completely banged up at the time, and they
- 25:37Speaker 1: couldn't do it. Yeah, Yeah, all right eight five five,
- 25:40Speaker 1: Pats five hundred is the eighth ticket. Hut Line web
- 25:43Speaker 1: radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. What
- 25:47Speaker 1: else is going on around the league or or here? Yeah,
- 25:53Speaker 1: I mean we're gonna have Alex call in and she'll
- 25:55Speaker 1: let us know what's going on down at practice. Yeah,
- 25:57Speaker 1: it seems like kind of similar similar attendants down there. Um,
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean I think everybody just there
- 26:02Speaker 1: are a lot of tweets today of we made it,
- 26:04Speaker 1: you know, people like that's what we made it to
- 26:07Speaker 1: the regular season opener, Like the off season, we made it,
- 26:10Speaker 1: We survived. Is there anything worse than like NFL Twitter, Like, oh,
- 26:17Speaker 1: praise Jesus, it's here. I feel like the super Bowl
- 26:19Speaker 1: ends and there's immediate fifty five tweets about how many
- 26:23Speaker 1: days there are until training camp opens, And then you
- 26:27Speaker 1: get closer your fifty days till the opener, and it's
- 26:29Speaker 1: one hundred. You know, it's like like, well, like I
- 26:33Speaker 1: just haven't a million of them. You don't find you
- 26:39Speaker 1: don't find it, just like we did. You guys an
- 26:42Speaker 1: extraordinary amount of tweets like that, Like I get that.
- 26:45Speaker 1: One guy says, hey, you know, fifty days till the opener. Yeah,
- 26:48Speaker 1: I get that same tweet literally like twenty five different
- 26:51Speaker 1: times from different different places. I think people, you know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: they like to, you know, make sure that they have
- 26:57Speaker 1: a certain amount of posts and you know that hallelujah
- 27:01Speaker 1: probably you know, like, how many memes did you see
- 27:04Speaker 1: over the last week with like, um, same kind of theme,
- 27:09Speaker 1: not the same meme, but the same theme of like
- 27:11Speaker 1: a guy ignoring his wife because it's Sunday he's on
- 27:16Speaker 1: the couch or something like that. Yeah. Yeah, I'm just like, okay,
- 27:19Speaker 1: we don't have anything else. And like I said, I
- 27:23Speaker 1: get jacked up for the regular season. I'm looking forward
- 27:25Speaker 1: to watching the game tonight yea um and wildly overreacting
- 27:31Speaker 1: to whatever I see because that's what we do, right,
- 27:33Speaker 1: It's done for the Rams they're out or the bills.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I guess they're not ready to prod time, Like you know,
- 27:39Speaker 1: that's you know that's coming, especially here if they lose tonight, Oh,
- 27:43Speaker 1: get on your timeline and see oh the Jerry the world?
- 27:47Speaker 1: Oh right, oh how did that go? You know, if
- 27:51Speaker 1: that's coming, should have never lost gilmore So, I'm jacked
- 27:55Speaker 1: up for that. I'm jacked up for the start of
- 27:57Speaker 1: the season, but like it's just you know, it's Obilgaitory.
- 28:00Speaker 1: He got the guy pretending he's asleep so he can
- 28:03Speaker 1: watch the football game meme like, yeah, come up with
- 28:07Speaker 1: something better than Yeah. The best one I saw was like,
- 28:12Speaker 1: my husband is a coach of an imaginary football team.
- 28:16Speaker 1: That is the best for the next Yeah, Mike, because
- 28:20Speaker 1: he manages it. He manages an imaginary football team for
- 28:23Speaker 1: four months. Well, that was the best. I mean, I
- 28:26Speaker 1: don't play it. I don't know about you guys, but man,
- 28:29Speaker 1: there's a lot of fantasy football posts going around. Actually
- 28:33Speaker 1: I actually have one. I'm in one league this year,
- 28:36Speaker 1: are you Yes, Yeah, I shot to be looking at
- 28:38Speaker 1: it again. But I did draft the team myself, okay,
- 28:41Speaker 1: because we had a draft in person and that meant
- 28:43Speaker 1: beers and wings pizza, so I was there. Okay, it's
- 28:47Speaker 1: been a long time since I Yeah, but there's a lot.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I don't look forward to the week that my defense
- 28:51Speaker 1: is on a buy, my kickers on a buy, or
- 28:53Speaker 1: my quarterbacks on a buy, because I will not be
- 28:55Speaker 1: making any transactions, so I'll probably lose those games. Yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 1: Matt's like, I'm gonna kicker. How many fantasy teams you
- 29:02Speaker 1: got going man for this year, only four you cut
- 29:06Speaker 1: it back for the fourth one is actually the Patriots playbook.
- 29:08Speaker 1: One winner gets to be on the show with John
- 29:10Speaker 1: All fans, Well, you can hope, can't you. There's nothing
- 29:14Speaker 1: like um was that clared by management. There's nothing like
- 29:18Speaker 1: NFL Sundays with with Matt. Regardless of who scores a touchdown,
- 29:23Speaker 1: Matt's got him on his fantasy team. It's great, he
- 29:26Speaker 1: goes nice. Wait, I thought you had the other guy. No, no,
- 29:30Speaker 1: I haven't run on a different league. I'm so far
- 29:33Speaker 1: removed from fantasy now. I haven't done it in so
- 29:35Speaker 1: many years. It's and I mean I see all these
- 29:37Speaker 1: like strategies of like what is it like no no
- 29:40Speaker 1: running back this morning when you listen to this Morning.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I've never heard that before. Again, I'm I'm a neo fight.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I don't play fantasy. But Dave Richard, who's like the
- 29:50Speaker 1: fantasy football expert for like CBS Sports or something like that,
- 29:54Speaker 1: was talking about this thing that Mike says, like the
- 29:56Speaker 1: no running back, no no rbat, Like you wait till
- 29:59Speaker 1: like the middle to late rounds because the running backs
- 30:02Speaker 1: get hurt so much. Yeah, hit the theory as you
- 30:05Speaker 1: get star power at the top with wide receivers that
- 30:08Speaker 1: are a little bit more consistent. I've never heard it
- 30:11Speaker 1: in my life. I always thought running backs was strategy,
- 30:14Speaker 1: not a league. It's a strategy. Yeah, but it seems
- 30:16Speaker 1: like like analytics are now coming into fantasy too as well,
- 30:19Speaker 1: so you know, it's like compounding. I listen, I think,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you know, did you go with the glasses today? I
- 30:29Speaker 1: have to admit it's a huge thing. I mean, I
- 30:32Speaker 1: don't play it like people are so into their fantasy. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 1: you know, it's I mean, it's obviously great for the NFL.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I mean, I just I find it hard for you know,
- 30:41Speaker 1: maybe people who just want to root for a team
- 30:43Speaker 1: and don't want to spend you know, the day rooting
- 30:45Speaker 1: for a Frankenstein combination of random kind of why I stepped,
- 30:50Speaker 1: like I didn't really get into it because I like,
- 30:52Speaker 1: remember Brian we first started, when I first got here.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I remember Brian. When I first Brian would be like
- 30:58Speaker 1: completely preoccupy had with who was scoring the touchdown, like
- 31:01Speaker 1: in Patriots games. But like I remember Cam Cleveland scored
- 31:05Speaker 1: for New Orleans and he was like nice, like that
- 31:08Speaker 1: hurt us, and I was like, just he goes, I
- 31:10Speaker 1: haven't won my fantasy team. Okay, Like that was kind
- 31:13Speaker 1: of why I never really got into it in the
- 31:14Speaker 1: first place. But I mean, it's gonna be random. They
- 31:17Speaker 1: can't be all these millions and millions of people that play.
- 31:20Speaker 1: They can't all they can't all be wrong. They love it,
- 31:22Speaker 1: they love it, they love they like the action and
- 31:24Speaker 1: going away like the action. I was just wondering if
- 31:26Speaker 1: the people who claimed to be experts and have fantasy
- 31:29Speaker 1: platforms are actually experts, like if they actually consistently outperform
- 31:35Speaker 1: the standard. Right if you Berry barely won his leagues, Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 1: he won leagues before, but he's the Matthew Berry. If
- 31:42Speaker 1: you Bury from ESPN, he was like the fantasy guru
- 31:44Speaker 1: and he barely won. I need to get into Like
- 31:47Speaker 1: the NFL has like a Fantasy Live show where they
- 31:50Speaker 1: go through kind of like what you said, Mike, the
- 31:53Speaker 1: analytics for each player and why you should draft him.
- 31:55Speaker 1: But it's just it's just a lot a lot that's
- 31:59Speaker 1: the stuff that's real, you know, Like, um, they have
- 32:03Speaker 1: like the projected totals and what like, Like how I
- 32:07Speaker 1: can I can absolutely understand the appeal of getting together
- 32:11Speaker 1: with a bunch of friends and just picking teams. And
- 32:13Speaker 1: I'm you know, I tell you the story all the time.
- 32:16Speaker 1: When I picked my team the one year I did
- 32:18Speaker 1: it here with the Patriots, and I picked all the
- 32:20Speaker 1: guys I liked. I picked Curtis Martin. You know, he
- 32:23Speaker 1: was like one hundred and ten years old. He ended
- 32:25Speaker 1: up having like the one last great season. I got
- 32:28Speaker 1: so lucky. Why did I pick him because I like them?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Not because Cynthia Freuland had him, you know rated to
- 32:34Speaker 1: you know, be x amount of fantasy points like that,
- 32:38Speaker 1: to me takes all the fun out of it. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:41Speaker 1: it's it's too much. Yeah. Now if you're doing it too,
- 32:45Speaker 1: you know, like some people they go on DraftKings and
- 32:47Speaker 1: and whatnot, and it's it's business, and it's you know,
- 32:50Speaker 1: you're playing daily fantasy and you know for football, like
- 32:53Speaker 1: you know, it's much more than just a fantasy team.
- 32:56Speaker 1: You're games again, so you can make money that I
- 32:58Speaker 1: get you do all the research you want for that.
- 33:00Speaker 1: That's real. That's dam to do that. To have like
- 33:04Speaker 1: a weekly kind of challenge, but not have like week
- 33:07Speaker 1: to week management guys on the bench by week, I
- 33:10Speaker 1: leave that. I leave that to Morrell. It's like, I
- 33:12Speaker 1: don't I got enough. I got enough time doing football
- 33:15Speaker 1: stuff and research, like, yeah, I amazon prepared as ever.
- 33:18Speaker 1: All Right, five past five hundred is the eight second hotline.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Web radio at Patrice dot com is the email address
- 33:24Speaker 1: everybody is calling and emailing. So let's get to our listeners.
- 33:29Speaker 1: We'll start with Christian in LA. What's up Christian? Hey,
- 33:33Speaker 1: good morning you guys. Hey it is here. It's Thursday,
- 33:36Speaker 1: so yeah, it is Thursday. Football, yes, yes, and football
- 33:40Speaker 1: starts today, real football. That marriage starts today. So we
- 33:43Speaker 1: made a giddy mood. Excuse me, nice, I'm with you
- 33:46Speaker 1: on fantasy. On fantasy football, for me, the relevant become
- 33:52Speaker 1: the inverse relationship to what your team can actually do.
- 33:55Speaker 1: If you have very good fantasy players, it's telling you
- 33:58Speaker 1: your team has a good players. There's no way around it.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Good fantasy players means that person is performing well in
- 34:05Speaker 1: the NFL. Right, So I get behind it, like, well,
- 34:09Speaker 1: I wish we can have some guys that were big
- 34:12Speaker 1: fantasy starts, because that just means that we have guys
- 34:14Speaker 1: that are good performing doesn't necessarily mean that Kirk Cousins
- 34:17Speaker 1: is a big fan. Correct, Thank you, Fred Hurts me
- 34:21Speaker 1: and you. You said if Jalen Hurts is a big deal, Like,
- 34:24Speaker 1: although I think Philadelphia is getting good, it's not good. No,
- 34:28Speaker 1: there's great in fantasy, but real life too. Kirk Cousins
- 34:32Speaker 1: has a winning record at the quarterback. Kirk Cousins. You
- 34:35Speaker 1: can keep them, yes, Kirk, you can keep them. You
- 34:38Speaker 1: can keep them and win. You're no playoff games? Like yeah,
- 34:43Speaker 1: I mean like so all right, So Kirk Cousins. Who
- 34:47Speaker 1: had more Fantasy points last year just out of curiosity?
- 34:50Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins or Tom Brady? I don't know. I don't
- 34:53Speaker 1: know the answer. Yeah, tom Brady because he went further
- 34:56Speaker 1: and so that that allowed him have more more Fantasy points.
- 34:59Speaker 1: You don't have fantasy points in the playoffs. Yeah, they
- 35:02Speaker 1: played fantasy in the playoffs to you guys, come on,
- 35:04Speaker 1: I think they don't. I mean regular leagues, don't they
- 35:08Speaker 1: stop in Week sixteen? All right? You put the fan
- 35:10Speaker 1: duels that kind of Yeah, I'm not talking about gambling,
- 35:12Speaker 1: You're talking about fantasy football. You know, seventeen games, who
- 35:16Speaker 1: had more points? And my guess is Kirk Cousins. And
- 35:21Speaker 1: my guess is like three or four years ago Gardner Minshew, Yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 1: who was throwing the ball on every down down three
- 35:27Speaker 1: touchdowns every game and put up a monster fantasy season, right?
- 35:31Speaker 1: Who would you rather have mention not have a monster
- 35:33Speaker 1: fantasy guy? Here's the point. A good fantasy player is
- 35:37Speaker 1: usually a good football player. Usually usually you know, they're productive.
- 35:42Speaker 1: They produced, They produced again, yeah, producing stats doesn't like rattleman.
- 35:48Speaker 1: I don't know if that woman was ever. Can I
- 35:49Speaker 1: ask my daily football question before you guys? Yeah, okay, yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: uh us to go let me myself us than go
- 36:00Speaker 1: four and OL. What would have to happen win us
- 36:04Speaker 1: to go four and OL? I mean, you don't have
- 36:07Speaker 1: to be dominating right out of the gate. I mean,
- 36:09Speaker 1: you know, I think these games will kind of be
- 36:10Speaker 1: flipped the probably a coin flip on at least two
- 36:13Speaker 1: of them. Um, you know, just based on but coming
- 36:17Speaker 1: out playing, don't beating yourself playing. We have to see
- 36:20Speaker 1: things we haven't seen so far in summer, you know, Um,
- 36:24Speaker 1: it's don't you think you'd have to see more than that?
- 36:26Speaker 1: Like you'd have to see less from the other teams
- 36:28Speaker 1: than you have seen in the summer, you know, like
- 36:30Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers can't play well and you're gonna go for Yeah, like,
- 36:32Speaker 1: I don't know, we weren't at these other camps, like,
- 36:35Speaker 1: you know, for all we know, Miami had a crappy
- 36:38Speaker 1: you know preseason. I don't know. But I'm just talking
- 36:41Speaker 1: about our team, like we you know, like we have
- 36:43Speaker 1: to have an offense that we haven't seen yet, you know,
- 36:46Speaker 1: for example, stringing a bunch of pofans we haven't seen yet. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna say this. I think we have enough talent
- 36:55Speaker 1: to be a successful winning team. I know people have
- 36:58Speaker 1: been proving out with talent, but if we really play
- 37:00Speaker 1: well together, I think we can. We can win and
- 37:04Speaker 1: we have. Is that not the same for every team? Right? No,
- 37:08Speaker 1: some teams just don't have a dog to really win,
- 37:11Speaker 1: They really don't. I disagree. If the Patriots have enough
- 37:15Speaker 1: talent to do that, regardless of opponent, then every other
- 37:18Speaker 1: team does too, right, virtually. Maybe maybe maybe Houston doesn't,
- 37:24Speaker 1: you know, maybe Jacksonville doesn't. But Cleveland does. You know,
- 37:30Speaker 1: the Bengals do, the Browns do? You know? The Raiders do,
- 37:34Speaker 1: the Chargers do? Like all of those teams have comparable
- 37:37Speaker 1: or more talent than the Patriots. Yeah. So if the
- 37:39Speaker 1: Patriots can do it, and every other team in football,
- 37:41Speaker 1: Pittsburgh certainly does. Yeah, did anybody think Pittsburgh's gonna win
- 37:45Speaker 1: the Super Bowl? In your professional opinion? What is the key? Then?
- 37:49Speaker 1: There is so much parody, What is the key to
- 37:52Speaker 1: pulling pulling that kind of record off Mac Jones? Yeah,
- 37:59Speaker 1: I don't think this is it's Matt Joe. Like if
- 38:03Speaker 1: Mac Jones is, you know, really good, We're in it.
- 38:06Speaker 1: You need help, Yeah, you need help more than But
- 38:09Speaker 1: here's where I'll agree with Christian, And thanks for the call, Christian.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I think on offense, I've been saying this, I'm going
- 38:15Speaker 1: to continue to say it. I think we've got some
- 38:17Speaker 1: pieces on offense to work with. I really do to
- 38:19Speaker 1: be good now. Like Tamara has been harping on the
- 38:22Speaker 1: offensive line, that's the if you can have all those pieces.
- 38:25Speaker 1: But if the old line doesn't play, if if wins,
- 38:28Speaker 1: back is hurt and Trent Brown walks off the field
- 38:31Speaker 1: after five weeks, oh, when you're a rookie guard isn't Yeah,
- 38:34Speaker 1: that's that's screwed. I don't care what the pieces are,
- 38:37Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, I mean, of course Max's going to
- 38:40Speaker 1: play a key part in it. But I think everybody,
- 38:42Speaker 1: everybody needs to play well. Everybody that the defense needs
- 38:45Speaker 1: to get turnovers, they need to be you know, pressure
- 38:48Speaker 1: after pressure after pressure. Um, it's the stuff we haven't seen.
- 38:52Speaker 1: And I mean there's always a degree of unknown going
- 38:54Speaker 1: into the season, but like I feel like even more
- 38:57Speaker 1: so this year, where you just you just don't know.
- 38:59Speaker 1: And I think it's easy to like suspend disbelief and say, well,
- 39:02Speaker 1: they might actually be a solid team, but I haven't
- 39:05Speaker 1: seen it yet, you know, I haven't seen ahead. What
- 39:08Speaker 1: concerns me the most is getting off to a slow start,
- 39:11Speaker 1: like what we saw in the Raiders game, where it
- 39:13Speaker 1: took about a handful of series before you finally saw
- 39:17Speaker 1: something on the offense. You wait too that too long
- 39:20Speaker 1: for that. This Sunday, Miami is going to be up
- 39:22Speaker 1: twenty one nine, go back to last year, and then
- 39:24Speaker 1: you're going to be fighting in the second half to
- 39:26Speaker 1: get points on the board to catch up and wait
- 39:28Speaker 1: for the defense to hopefully get stopped so you can
- 39:30Speaker 1: get back out there. It's like, if they start off
- 39:32Speaker 1: too slow, it's gonna be too late. When's the last
- 39:34Speaker 1: time a team you know that you know doesn't didn't
- 39:39Speaker 1: really have elite talent on their roster, you know, got
- 39:42Speaker 1: far into the playoffs because they played well together. Like
- 39:46Speaker 1: who was that was there? You know, twenty Detroit Pistons.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, in that league, it's hard
- 39:54Speaker 1: to do it without yeah, like like like you think
- 39:57Speaker 1: of like, oh, you know, well Trent dilfer one if
- 39:59Speaker 1: they had a great defense, right well, they had elite
- 40:02Speaker 1: te man. It couldn't throw thirty yards, they had an
- 40:06Speaker 1: elite defense. We we we talked about that. We've been
- 40:08Speaker 1: in this area. Like I think last weekend I brought
- 40:10Speaker 1: up like the Giants of you know, like not necessarily elite,
- 40:13Speaker 1: but I mean that might be that might be an
- 40:15Speaker 1: example of the two thousand and eleven Giants might have
- 40:20Speaker 1: been a comparable team to the Patriots talent wise right now,
- 40:23Speaker 1: and that they got hot at the right time and
- 40:25Speaker 1: played well in the playoffs. Yeah that I mean, I mean,
- 40:27Speaker 1: how many guys from that team could you really name
- 40:29Speaker 1: right now? Like you know that that were like oh
- 40:31Speaker 1: I could name them, but I but I think that
- 40:33Speaker 1: like Mario Manningham to me is a similar player to
- 40:37Speaker 1: you know, DeVante Parker and Kobe Meyers seem Nick. I
- 40:41Speaker 1: think those guys, I mean, they had some good players
- 40:43Speaker 1: up front, of Victor. Victor Cruz was really still really
- 40:46Speaker 1: really good at the time. But I think you know,
- 40:49Speaker 1: your receiving corps is comparable to those guys. Yeah, you know,
- 40:53Speaker 1: Ahmad Bradshaw and and and those guys comparable to what
- 40:57Speaker 1: you have and had. I think that's yeah, you know
- 40:59Speaker 1: how obviously Eli Manning was far more experienced at the
- 41:03Speaker 1: time than Mac Jones is now. Yeah, but I think
- 41:05Speaker 1: that's it's a great point of you know, talking about
- 41:08Speaker 1: you expect even years ago Eli Manning not throwing any interceptions,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I mean, playing against his type, you know, And that's
- 41:16Speaker 1: I think what you have to see a little bit
- 41:18Speaker 1: that they play and let's not you know, forget that
- 41:22Speaker 1: they had a great coach, Tom Coughlin. He knew how
- 41:25Speaker 1: he could coach. I think we got that part covered. Yeah, well,
- 41:28Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. But that's a big part of it, right,
- 41:30Speaker 1: And that's what I think gives you hope on this team,
- 41:32Speaker 1: is that we got Bill Belichick, you know, and it's
- 41:35Speaker 1: probably the biggest part reason for hope. Yeah, that's the
- 41:38Speaker 1: heart of it. That's the heart of it, and that's why,
- 41:40Speaker 1: you know, when you talk about all the issues with
- 41:41Speaker 1: the coaching and the team going on and everything. And
- 41:43Speaker 1: that's why I think, you know, people probably have some
- 41:46Speaker 1: trepidation right now because I think for optimistic Patriot fans
- 41:49Speaker 1: right now, it's exactly what he kind of asked on
- 41:52Speaker 1: the question of like, do you think you can take
- 41:54Speaker 1: a team that, no, maybe it's not just dripping with talent,
- 41:56Speaker 1: but that you can get them to play well enough
- 41:59Speaker 1: together that you know that they that they're a really
- 42:01Speaker 1: good team. And I think that's kind of the you
- 42:03Speaker 1: know what everybody thought of the Patriots when you still
- 42:06Speaker 1: were not willing to say Tom Brady's the greatest quarterback
- 42:09Speaker 1: of all time and you know in the two thousand
- 42:11Speaker 1: and three, two thousand and four one is before that.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I mean, I think Pittsburgh did that largely last year. Yeah,
- 42:16Speaker 1: they had terrible quarterback play, but they played well as
- 42:20Speaker 1: a team. They had some players, I mean T J.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Watt was you know, and played at an exceptionally high level,
- 42:25Speaker 1: but they found a way to play better as a
- 42:28Speaker 1: team than probably the some of their parts would indicate.
- 42:30Speaker 1: And I think the Patriots could do that too. I
- 42:33Speaker 1: don't think that you can go from that, like now
- 42:36Speaker 1: you're saying four and all against four teams that you
- 42:39Speaker 1: conceivably could be underdogs on all four games. Like that's
- 42:43Speaker 1: different to me than say, yeah, we could go nine
- 42:45Speaker 1: and eight, ten and seven, you know, find our way
- 42:47Speaker 1: into the playoffs like we did last year. I think
- 42:49Speaker 1: that could happen. I could, you know, I'll go back
- 42:51Speaker 1: to making my arguments. I can make an argument for
- 42:54Speaker 1: ten and seven, absolutely, I don't think I can make
- 42:58Speaker 1: an argument for fourteen and five. Back to NFL for
- 43:00Speaker 1: whatever that whatever, the numbers fourteen and three two complicated
- 43:03Speaker 1: for me, math tough. Back to NFL fantasy for a second.
- 43:07Speaker 1: This from last year, this is wild. First of all,
- 43:09Speaker 1: the Patriots defense is number two. Oh yeah, they finished
- 43:13Speaker 1: for like no. Second in the league in points allowed, right,
- 43:15Speaker 1: and Nick Folk is also number two for points. Quarterback
- 43:21Speaker 1: one is Josh Allen obviously was this last year? Yeah?
- 43:25Speaker 1: Mac Jones is eighteen. Yeah, but this but what was
- 43:29Speaker 1: wild to look at what was Kirk Cousins. Cousins was eleventh,
- 43:32Speaker 1: and Brady was number four or five, okay, eleventh, and
- 43:35Speaker 1: then Brady's three. Okay, all right, so that but eleventh
- 43:40Speaker 1: overall doesn't back up. It's still a lot. Eleven still
- 43:43Speaker 1: a decent amount of points there still three hundred plus points. Yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 1: season three hundred points for Kirk Cousins. No, but but
- 43:49Speaker 1: that's what it should be. I thought that everybody loved
- 43:52Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins because he's a fantasy star. He's not back up,
- 43:56Speaker 1: you know, by week quarterback. I think it's weird that
- 43:58Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson's sixteen. He's well, he missed. He missed a
- 44:02Speaker 1: lot of games, that's true. Let's get to the emails
- 44:05Speaker 1: web radio at Patriots dot com. Um, this is from Louie.
- 44:09Speaker 1: He's in Phoenix. I just love that we have people
- 44:12Speaker 1: all over the world that email us and call the show.
- 44:14Speaker 1: That's great, you know, I just just I'm just saying that. Okay,
- 44:17Speaker 1: one last note before we got Baker Mayfield last, oh, last,
- 44:22Speaker 1: So he's like three hundred and fifty fifth quarterbacks. He
- 44:27Speaker 1: has a second to last. Okay. Yeah. Um, Louis says,
- 44:35Speaker 1: would you help me with an argument I'm having with
- 44:37Speaker 1: a friend. He says, hitting a baseball is the hardest
- 44:41Speaker 1: thing to do in sports. I said, it's quarterback. What
- 44:44Speaker 1: do you guys think? Let me know when I can
- 44:46Speaker 1: get you guys lunch. Well, if the bet rides on
- 44:50Speaker 1: you getting us lunched. Then whatever you take, whatever you take.
- 44:55Speaker 1: But I think that you know, yes, his hardest quarterback.
- 44:58Speaker 1: I think it's the hardest position sports. I agree, But
- 45:01Speaker 1: but I think the hardest thing to do in sports
- 45:04Speaker 1: is probably hitting that baseball against the pro pitcher. I
- 45:07Speaker 1: would agree with you. And I think if you look
- 45:09Speaker 1: at there's probably more solid two great quarterbacks every year
- 45:16Speaker 1: than there are great hitters. Yeah, you know, and I
- 45:18Speaker 1: would say, how many guys hit three hundred nowadays? Right
- 45:22Speaker 1: right right? That's because of the shift pall? Not many. No,
- 45:27Speaker 1: I did hard hitting a bit. I mean, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 1: like we've all played baseball, right, I mean, well, so
- 45:35Speaker 1: you've hit a ball, those you've hit a ball with
- 45:38Speaker 1: a bat, you've hit a ball with a bat, But
- 45:40Speaker 1: none of us have faced I can't see pro major league.
- 45:43Speaker 1: I can't imagine what it's standing there with that kind
- 45:45Speaker 1: of he imagine trying to get in the box and
- 45:47Speaker 1: facing me. That wouldn't have been hard. We were we
- 45:50Speaker 1: topping out, what were hitting on the gun? Eighty six?
- 45:53Speaker 1: I'm sure that that would seem like just I couldn't
- 45:54Speaker 1: even comprehend hitting that probably get up to eighty seven
- 45:57Speaker 1: on a high fastball out of the zone. Well, I
- 45:58Speaker 1: mean last night, in the case had we had were
- 46:00Speaker 1: the forty five for the for the ten year olds
- 46:02Speaker 1: forty five? Still, but I agree with Fred. I think
- 46:05Speaker 1: the hardest position in all of sports to play is quarterback. Yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 1: I think mentally. Physically yeah, not so much physically anymore.
- 46:14Speaker 1: But but it's yeah, like Paul said, everything's riding on you.
- 46:19Speaker 1: You know, decisions from a lot of people will tell
- 46:22Speaker 1: you I'm going to play. It took a trip over
- 46:25Speaker 1: the deuce's side of the street. Here welcome NHL defenseman.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Hardest would be would be number two. You learn how
- 46:32Speaker 1: to skate backwards, You're fine, college defenseman dismissive anything but football.
- 46:39Speaker 1: You learn how to skate back I I can't. I
- 46:42Speaker 1: can't compare. I just think hockey is fun. I don't
- 46:45Speaker 1: think it's like like hitting a baseball. It's like, oh
- 46:47Speaker 1: my god, playing quarterback, Oh my god. Like hockey, it's like, well,
- 46:49Speaker 1: it's kind of funny, flowing like now tennis is in
- 46:51Speaker 1: each board to play. But did you see those two
- 46:54Speaker 1: guys last night? The way they were pounding the ball
- 46:56Speaker 1: for five hours, unbelievable, how hard they hit the ball
- 46:59Speaker 1: and how fit they are to do that for five
- 47:02Speaker 1: and a half hours. So Freddy, I came up with
- 47:03Speaker 1: something last night as I was watching I don't know
- 47:05Speaker 1: if you did. You watch the Pagoula match a little bit. Yeah,
- 47:08Speaker 1: neither one of them, I'd watch most of Neither one
- 47:10Speaker 1: of those two women could hold They couldn't hold a serve,
- 47:13Speaker 1: all right, But you know that's not usually the problem.
- 47:15Speaker 1: It's usually like seven to six six seven six seven seven.
- 47:18Speaker 1: And you're like, right, this kind of stinks. No one
- 47:21Speaker 1: can break serve. What do you think if they just
- 47:23Speaker 1: said no more two serves, just one, just one serve, Oh,
- 47:28Speaker 1: that would be that'd be something that'd be a major change.
- 47:31Speaker 1: And yeah, so then if you go for it, you
- 47:33Speaker 1: better better be right. You can go for it, and
- 47:35Speaker 1: you know you can rely on your your big serve.
- 47:37Speaker 1: But and and the games would go faster. Yeah, you're
- 47:41Speaker 1: getting Paul. That's a huge thing. That's wow. Look at that.
- 47:47Speaker 1: You know, Freddie. I respect I respect Freddie's You know
- 47:51Speaker 1: Freddie could play tennis. You know that. Oh I've heard
- 47:53Speaker 1: he was good, like legit good. Yeah, Well I grew up.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I mean Cape Cod it's a hotbed of kind of
- 47:59Speaker 1: talent that I know heroin us. McEnroe had a comment
- 48:04Speaker 1: last night. Now I can't remember. He said, the next
- 48:06Speaker 1: rule change will be blank, and I, for the life
- 48:10Speaker 1: of me, you know, Paul bade me think of that.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I can't remember what he said, but I was like,
- 48:15Speaker 1: that would that would be a pretty decent rule change.
- 48:17Speaker 1: No more ads like right and right after I forget
- 48:20Speaker 1: what he said. Do you remember were you watching? No?
- 48:23Speaker 1: But I do like that idea of the one serve
- 48:26Speaker 1: and to you a point um, maybe maybe eliminate the
- 48:31Speaker 1: win by two thing for every for everything, for everything,
- 48:35Speaker 1: like the sets need you need to win by two
- 48:38Speaker 1: because then the guy who serves hasn't you know, an
- 48:41Speaker 1: advantage if if I can just win six five and
- 48:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and the other team, the
- 48:46Speaker 1: other guy doesn't get a chance to hold his serve,
- 48:48Speaker 1: that's not fair. But yeah, everything by twos sometimes can
- 48:52Speaker 1: get tiring. Fred, no pickleball for you, But why is
- 48:57Speaker 1: it getting so? It's fun to play, it's easy to play.
- 49:01Speaker 1: You know, it's social, you know, demented and sad, but social.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Last night we were baseball practice and it was like,
- 49:08Speaker 1: you thought every old person in a ten taken over
- 49:14Speaker 1: tennis courts. I hate it. The tennis courts are gone,
- 49:16Speaker 1: even though I hated it when tennis courts converted to
- 49:18Speaker 1: racquetball courts. You know, they're all we could put three
- 49:21Speaker 1: racquetball spurts in the space of one tennis court and
- 49:24Speaker 1: make more money, and they put it. They put up
- 49:26Speaker 1: walls and out to a tennis court. No. No, in
- 49:28Speaker 1: the indoor courts. Oh, they converted, you know, tennis into
- 49:32Speaker 1: racquetball because you could do three times as many uh
- 49:35Speaker 1: as much money. It's like anyone else took me for
- 49:38Speaker 1: a surprise. Was it's like a plastic ball too. It's
- 49:40Speaker 1: like a whiffleball almost that you play with. It's like
- 49:42Speaker 1: a tennis ball. Yeah, yes, I've seen it played, but
- 49:44Speaker 1: I've never actually played played it. I thought, with your
- 49:47Speaker 1: knee you might like it. You don't have to run
- 49:49Speaker 1: as much. You can still kind of an abomination. I
- 49:52Speaker 1: didn't expect a visceral reaction from Oh, I have a
- 49:55Speaker 1: visceral I'm not overly surprised by it. All right, we're
- 49:58Speaker 1: gonna take a break. I'm gonna try to think of
- 50:00Speaker 1: what that rule change was, and we'll be right back.

- 58:52Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, mostly go around, go around. You know,
- 58:56Speaker 1: He's like, he wouldn't do it, It wouldn't go around. Finally,

- 59:09Speaker 1: pulls down the window. So he starts talking to me

- 59:15Speaker 1: He had the kids in the backseat. I don't care,
- 59:18Speaker 1: but I just say keep ef. He goes we'll talk later.
- 59:21Speaker 1: I don't know, we won't. That's another great moment from

- 1:00:21Speaker 1: sounds sorry? How is that what they call it? Yeah?
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: They go to these bars now, you know, that's a
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: new thing the last ten years. These tables. You go
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: to a bar and you have to get your table,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: which is like five grand, and then you know, you
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: get your bottles for two bottles market up like a
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: hundred times what you can buy it in a liquor store.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I don't. Who's like, who's got that kind
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: of money? Well you I don't. I don't not me. Yeah,
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: there's always when you like, you know, go to like
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: sometimes that you know what Bobby Burns. I mean, I
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: don't know you big Bobby Burns frequenter. I go to
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Bobby Burns I take out? Takeout is a good food?
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Like what is that? There's a few of them? Oh really,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I thought there was. They closed the one in Sandwich.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: They don't have enough staff. It's like that everywhere you
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: go now it's just people shorthanded. You feel bad, like
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: waitresses one hand trying to juggle seven tables. It's tough.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: They can't find people. It's true. It's amazing how lazy
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: people are. They'd rather not work. Well, I don't know
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: if they that anymore. It's that they're finding better jobs.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: They don't need to do that, and remote jobs at that, right,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: so many remote jobs, right, And that's like my son
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: was waiting tables on the side. You don't need to
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: do it now, you know. So anyway, might five five
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: pass five hundred is the eight ticket hotline web Paul
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: stepping away web radio at pages dot com is the
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: email address. Uh, Sean, it's in Vancouver. What's up, Sean? Hey? Everyone.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Paul is mentioning earlier in regards to having a start
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: of two and two, you know, and then trying to
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: go six and two. I see that as being really relevant,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: and that's why I'm very concerned about them all the
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Miami game because I'm I'm wondering if they lose this
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: first game, they could possibly go one and three or
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: go and four, and that could really degrail them. So
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: I'm kind of really concerned about this game coming up. Well,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: like we talked about, Zoe says that these first two
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: games are must wins. I think they're critical games. Yeah,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: you know, I don't know if I would go as
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: far as to say must win, you know, week one
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: and two. Yeah, but they are very important games. And
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I agree with you, Sean, I think if you lose
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: one of these two, you're kind of staring at one
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and three. I think Baltimore and Green Bay are going
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: to be difficult games. So what if? So what if
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: they play a clean game, everybody plays really well, but
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: they still lose, How would you feel? I'm hopeful I
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: would feel really really bad at least if those things
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: that felt I could clean up and win. Yeah, now
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: you're your scenario is we're just not good enough. That
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: would worry. But I think there's some gray in there
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: tho though, Like you could lose a you know, just
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: a straight up game. We had a turnover, they had
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: a turnover, they had the last play, you know, like
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I'm operating under Tamaris parameters. They play well, not turn
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: not turning the ball over like they play well. What
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: if it's like like one of those great games, like
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: when you see just really good games with two teams
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: that play really well down to a field goal y
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: s they lose forty eighty eight, I'll be disappointed, but
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I feel better about that than I would like losing
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: nineteen sixty. Yeah, I'll say, okay, next time, we'll make
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: that stop. And you know, i'd be okay with you know,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: there's so many I mean, there's so many ways games
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: could go and you win or lose, you come away,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: you could win and come away feeling like, you know,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: we locked out. We shouldn't have really won that one, right,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I get it. I'm gonna know what you guys are saying.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I was just I was trying to tackle Tamara's Yeah,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I'd rather play bad and win then play good and lose.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: But like, despite falling at seventeen nothing hole, we still
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: came back thirty four seventeen. Yeah, as your point, Paul
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: about the fantasy camaraderie, I came back here for well
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Parstlely to do our draft. We do every year for
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: ten years, and we used to get together in person.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: That ended with the pandemic. I was hoping it would
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: start up again, but no, we were just at home
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: doing it online. I was just at my friend's place,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: So I really missed that. That was a huge part
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: of it, for sure. Yeah, that's that's the only hiller
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: for me. No, I respect I mean, I love people
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: that have done the fantasy, like the league, like group
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: of friends that have done it forever, that have running
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you know, themes and things on the line and stuff.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: It's just way too much. It's tough for me when
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: it's like I have seven different leagues, and five of
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: them I don't know a single person in that league,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: and like those ones that's it just seems like it's
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: too much, pretty too much effort for me. Absolutely. Christian
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: writes in from Colorado. He says, who in the Miami
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: game do you see having the most surprising stat line
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: on offensive defense? Mine is Mac three hundred twenty five
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: yards passing, three touchdowns defense Mills with two interceptions and
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: six tackles. Stats aside agree would duce. If we play
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a sloppy game, the team will have sloppy results, both
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: offense and defense. Prediction Patriots stunt everyone thirty five twenty one.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I like this optimism. Thirty three hundred and twenty five
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: yards and three touchdowns were back. That's a lot. I mean,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I don't and I don't know about and I like Mills.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I think he's good, but I don't I don't know
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: if he's maybe one I could see maybe, um, you know,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: some of the interior guys picking up some maybe maybe
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: picking up you know, urpo stuff, get two off rhythm.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: He doesn't. He'sn't quite sure what he's seeing. All of
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: a sudden, you know, Adrian Phillips is popping out from
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage, and you know he throws it
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: right to him. Um, but you know it's hard to
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: see with the separation abilities that waddle, and he'll potentially
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: have to see Mills getting a lot of hands on balls,
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Like I mean, it really have to be some tight
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: throws from from two to make that kind of happen.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Sping Fresno writes twice, I was in and oh today
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: I never miss spiing Fresno. I love Jacoby Myers, but
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: why does he only have two touchdown catches? And was
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: it one of those from Hoyer and garbage time? He
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: seems competent in the open field, but when things shrink
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: in the red zone, does he struggle to get open
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: or is the quarterback not finding him? Or is it both?
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: I mean, I would say I think, I mean, I
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: think it's it's a little bit in the in the
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: end zone. I feel like you either need to be
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: quick to get away from guys, or you need to
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: be big to win contested catches and fades and stuff
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: like that. I think he was pretty good in Vegas.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: He showed a couple contested catches. I don't know, I'd
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: forgetten if he had any here, But it was something
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: that showed up to me that that maybe could be
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: potential for him to be a little bit more of
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: a red zone threat, just his ability. I mean, he
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: doesn't have pretty good size for a receiver. I'll remember
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: early in the season last year, Mac didn't even throw
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: it into the end zone, so like no one had
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: any chances that was an issue. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: think if he only threw twenty two touchdowns, but it's season. Yeah,
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: I think it's it's Parker Parker and Hunter Henry probably
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: are the big red zone guys this year. I would guess.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I don't really worry. Like, I think Jacobe Myers is
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: a good, solid receiver. The fact that he doesn't catch
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: a lot of touchdowns doesn't really bothers. I mean, that's
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: a ton of touches anywhere it would. Yeah, Like, I
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: just think inherently that position doesn't know you're you're the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: third down. You know, that's I mean, that's what he does,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: find the open hole. If you had an offense like
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: last year, like I said they didn't, they weren't tremendously
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: efficient throwing the ball um and getting passing touchdowns. Now
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Damien Harris rushed for fifteen, so they were able to
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: score touchdowns. And like to me, there's a general amount
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: of touchdowns you're going to score as a team. And
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: as long as I'm reaching that, let whatever that number is,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I don't know off the top of my head. You know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I think, um, you know, what are you getting like
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: forty forty five touchdowns? You know as a team? Is
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: that sound right? You know? For a sea probably so
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: in there, you know, let's I mean twenty two and
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: fifty math math is math is so unless you're all
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: of a sudden coming up one year and Jesus, you know,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: we scored forty seven touchdowns last year. We only scored
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: thirty three this year. Now that's an issue, the fact
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: that your receivers aren't catching touchdowns, you know, because you're
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: not scoring. But as long as you you scored forty
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: seven last year and then forty seven next year and
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: then maybe fifty the year after that. I don't care
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: who gets them right, as long as as long as
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: the team gets them. It's also another thing that's skewed
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: by fifty hanging fifty on the Jags. You know those
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: games where you had a lot of output in a
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: handful of games, right and inmit it out, you know,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: like but you know, like Hunter Henry had nine touchdowns,
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: so I don't need Jacoby Myers to have nine as well,
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: like Jacoby. That's I mean, Hunter Henry, that's a good total,
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Like nine touchdowns. Someone's going to score the touchdowns, It's
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: basically my point. Yeah, And Jacoby Myers is helping move
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: the chains right lead to those touchdowns, so I feel
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: like he still do parts. But I do think to
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: answer the emails question, Mike, Mike had it right. I
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: think slot receivers in general probably aren't the greatest red
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: zone targets. Now there's exceptions. I mean, I think welkerhead
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: eight one year, but that was that was like oh seven,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: you know, right, Um, there are a lot of touchdownss um.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Ryan writes in I just started listening this offseason, and
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I'm excited to see how every they were men in
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: the regular season. My question is, if you could add
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: any current player to our roster from any other team
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: for the next season, who would it be. Personally, I
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: would want Jalen Ramsey. I could see the argument for
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: a star wide receiver or maybe even another pass rusher.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I just think the secondary needs someone who can be
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: a lockdown corner. I'll take Josh Allen. I mean I
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: like that pick. Davante Adams. I might take him after
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: watching what he what he can do in Vegas. I mean,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: I think he's a he's a game changer. Non Quarterback edition. Yeah,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I love Deebo Samuel's Freddie. You have always loved him. Yeah,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: I like him Fred. But the fact that he doesn't
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: want to run the ball at all, well, I talked
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: to him. I'm sure have done at all a little bit.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: If you give me a little bit, I'll pay you.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't know that with McDaniel cohn, if he's still
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: gonna if they're still gonna do that as much I
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: would I would. That's a good question. Like again, non
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Quarterback edition, I think maybe I would go with a
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: like an elite pass rusher like Bosa, something like that,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: or one of the Watt Brothers, t J. Watt or
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Nick Bosa. Yeah, yeah, someone. I think I can get
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: a disruptor, you know, eighteen sacks from him. I think
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: that would change the complexion of the dive constantly involved.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: But I mean his suggestion of a great corner is
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: good too. I would take Xavian Howard or Jayar Alexander,
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Mashawn Lattimore, one of those guys. Yeah, Mike writes in
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: UM super excited to get back to some football, starting
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: with tonight's game. I believe if the old line could
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: play well, then we have a chance to win. What
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: is your confidence level in the offensive line? Who's healthy,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: who's not? It seems like wins battling. I'm on the fence.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: On the fence, I think there's I think there's real
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: questions with that group. And I mean, I said to Paul,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: don't I don't really get into the whole buying of
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: it all as a team, but I kind of questioned
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: the buying at that position on the edges, and I
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: think that those positions are critical and if they decide
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: to take a player two off, it could be bad
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: things for Mac Jones. Freddy Mike is talking about you know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: the tackles and some of the things that we've talked about,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: just to get the listeners up to speed. Trent Brown
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: signed to stay here, signed an extension as a right tackle.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: According to him and his representatives, Mike Giardi sort of
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: alluded to the fact that he's not happy about that.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Right signed as a right tackle, he's now playing left tackle.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: For those that don't know, left tackles generally make more
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: money than right tackles. And at the same time, Isaiah
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Winn moving from left tackle to right tackle as he
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: enters the fifth and final year of his rookie contract,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: is theoretically now not as attractive on the open market
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: when the season's over is he would have been had
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: he continued to play left tackle. Now it looks to
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the rest of the league he's not good enough to
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: play left tackle. That's why they moved him. So there's
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: speculation that he's not happy about it. I think that's
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: what Mike is talking about. What it is, I mean,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: and you know, just throw in you know, some of
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: the tweets Trump, I'm ready to go home, you know,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: I mean, it's just and and some of the plays
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: during during preseason that you know, it's just it didn't
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: look right, and I think it's a non starter. If
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: your offensive line doesn't come to play and you don't
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: win up front, you don't win those battles in the trenches,
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: and you know, give him Ac the time open up
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: some running lanes. It's just it's all been connected this
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: preseason and nothing's really been consistent. Tom Fremaine writes in
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: I know a lot has been discussed about the Patriots
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: leaving for Miami early, but has any consideration been paid
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: to this being the first road game season opener since
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: the change of the preseason schedule. With two weeks between
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: games now, there is more flexibility to travel early for
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: the opener. It's a small sample size, but do you
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: think this might become a trend for Bill in the
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: next few years for road openers. Also, Bill has said
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: for years that longer road trips for the team also
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: helped create bonding opportunities, and not being on the same
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: page has also been a criticism of the team this offseason. Yeah,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I don't think that'll be a trend. I mean, I
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: hear what he's saying, but I also think that you
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: can do too much. You know, It's not like, oh, well,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: if we just sequested our team for the whole season,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: they'd be the team that gets along the best and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: plays the best. Like it doesn't work that way. It's
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: it's a balance. And again, I'm all for team building
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: stuff and hey, let's show him a movie and all
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: those kind of things that you do off the field
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: to get guys. You know, I really believe in that
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: of teams that like each other and genuinely all kind
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: of get along. I just, you know, from my own experience,
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: those are the teams that do well. But you know,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: what point is too much? The teams that do well
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: are the ones that like each other well, I mean,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I got I mean, I just I always go to
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: my own experience of it. And you know, the teams
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that I played on where there were little factions in
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: the locker room of guys that you know, coach would
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: come in and give a speech in any leaf and
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: then you'd have one of those one or two guys.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Oh no, you have one of those two guys being like,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: you know, don't listen to him, you know, I mean,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: that would be the vibe of it, and it'd be
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: like you know, and then especially for me, in those
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: instant that a younger player who you know, isn't quite
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: sure what the dynamics are of playing college hockey in
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: my experience that you know. I just meanwhile, when you
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: had a team, when I got to my senior year
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: where we love the freshman we were a tight knit
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: group of seniors. And I know that this is oversimplifying things,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: and a football team with fifty plus guys, it's a
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: little bit different. But I just think that there's a
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: line that you can cross where guys are like, man,
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: we're getting burned out. We're always together. We need to reset,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: you know, and have a little balance of our of
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: our personal lives as well to you know, know the
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: value of this. So I don't know, we'll see how
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: what this team is like and what they play like
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: in in in the moments where it's all on the
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: line and you gotta have it, because in recent years
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: then when it's on the line and you gotta have it,
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: they haven't really had it. So we'll see if this
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: makes a difference this year. And I would just say
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: about like, I don't think it will be a trend.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I think that there are factors that Fred talked about
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: yesterday that haven't really gotten enough attention just with the
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: amount of activity going on at the stadium. If that's
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: the case again, next the next time that they open
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: the season with a road game, and you know, maybe
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: they do it, but for the reasons that are being
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: talked about with all of the team bonding and whatnot.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: And now you have the added time from the end
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: of the preseason to the regular season. What difference should
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: it make if it's home or away. Yeah, Like, if
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: the if the idea is to get the team together,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: and I have sixteen days between the last preseason game
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: in the first regular season game, why wouldn't I just
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: take them away somewhere to practice. Yea, if even if
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: it's a home game, right, That's why I don't think
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: it has anything to do with it. I think some
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: of the stuff you talked about with the Bramshot Sturbridge
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: Village get a little early Christmas shopping and they don't
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: they're busy around the holiday. But you know, with the
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: concert here, in all of the activity here, I think
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: there's a lot of obstacles that are affecting potentially how
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: you're getting prepared, and I think that has something to
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: do with it. The weather absolutely is a factor you know,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: to ignore the weather as a factor. I think is
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: is wrong. But I think if you're playing, you know,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: say at the Jets next year, do you think they're
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: gonna go to Long Island? Long Island and practice for
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: a week? Right? I mean, I'm not trying to oversimpliz
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: I just I think this is a unique situation. He's
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: trying something in a place that they have had no success. Yeah,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: that's what I said. Just so they tried it. They're
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: trying something. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. And
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: if it does work, I don't think it's going to
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: be the start of a new trend, is my point.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: Anthony writes in um, this is a quick uh who
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: am I game? All right? As we're coming up to
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: pick soon play or a do you know how to
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: play this game? Tomaron? Now, I say clues one clue
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: at a time, and you can guess at any time.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: But once you guess, you're out if you're wrong. So
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: who who is this? First player? One? I played my
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: college ball at North Carolina and I was drafted by
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: the Patriots in the third round. Two. I played for
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: the Patriots twice, with the Vikings and Panthers in between stints. Huh.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: And finally, I hold the Patriots record for longest interception return. Man,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: this seems like a deep dive. Jimmy Hitchcock player too.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Jimmy Hitchcock went to NC State City. Oh, that's what
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: screw me out, screwed me up. I'm gonna do this.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: You gotta get it right. No, No, I want to.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: I want to make sure I apologize if I'm wrong.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: I thought Jimmy Hitchcock went to NC State though, but
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: searching it, I know he had no knee cartlet University
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: of North Carolina. Oh yeah, Chapel Hill. Okay, so good good.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Second player. I was born in Alabama and played my
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: college ball at Iowa. Born in Alabama, played college ball
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: at Iowa. Okay, I hold a seventh degree black belt
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: in karatep Right there you go. I didn't know he
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: was born in Alabama. Yeah, he was born in Jersey. Well,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: he ended up moving to he grew up in Jersey.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I know that. I know that for new work, New work.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Third player. I was a first round pick by the
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Patriots and first round pick and wish they could switch
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: to another player drafted later in the round at the
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: same position. Oh, I was a first round pick that
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: the Patriots wish they could switch to another player drafted
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: later in the round at the same position to kill Harry.
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: That could be a lot of people too. In your year.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: I set four season records for the NC Double A
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: and still didn't win the Big Ten Player of the
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Year award. Finally, I hold the Patriots record for being
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: sacked in a single season with fifty nine. Oh god, Oh,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Tony Eason, mister Denham, Tony Tony Easton, mister Denham. Yeah,
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: he used to wear like the denim jeans and the
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Denham jacket all the time. You guys would make fun
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: of He just broke the rules. You allowed him to
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: guess twice. He can't do that too. Two more, I
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: played high school football and wasn't given a scholarship for
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: college until someone dropped out last minute at my school
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: in Texas. Wes Welker, yess Welker. We should uh add
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: that we had some Twitter mentioned yesterday Adam Gays indeed
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: played high school football. That's right, thank you gonna say so. So.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: I've yet to hear of a football coach who never
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: played football. That just doesn't make sense. Doesn't make sense.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Didn't McDaniel. Yeah, well that's how it started. He played
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: at Yale. Yeah, he was a wide receiver at Yale.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: He looks like he went to you said. Finally, I
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: played my college ball at USC and was a first
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: round pick when Paul had hair, William ac guinnis, No,
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: you're out, I'm out. I put all I went all
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: a hair in the nineties, I went all in. Yeah.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I wish everything that he said was was. I passed
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: away in twenty twenty one. Now I have a guess,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: but I have to keep quiet. And finally, I hold
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: the Patriots all time record for rushing yards. Oh I
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: do know. I no longer have a guess all time
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: record for rushing Sam the Bam cunning Yeah. Yeah, that's
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: that's bad. I should have gotten that one. That's bad.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: That's bad. Let's see that was that was well done.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: You had a good mix of current, old and in between.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I agree, well done. Yeah. And they weren't obscure, Yeah,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: you know they were all Yeah, I mean, Tip Easton Cunningham.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Who's the other one, Hitchcock? You know none of them
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: were obscure. Um, straight up football question. This is from
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Kevin in Dublin, what do you see as Dolphin's biggest
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: on paper strengths? Speed, yeah, absolutely, Playmakers yeah, playmakers at
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: the skill positions Xavian Howard, Jalen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, like
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: that's their biggest strength to me, uh, Richard is from Gloucestershire, England,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: and I'm sure if Eric was here he would correct
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: me and how to cross that. He's not first time emailer.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Ding ding Ding found your podcast a couple of years
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: ago during COVID. Haven't missed an episode since, really enjoying
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: the addition of Tamara evan In particularly Alex and the
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: content is as good as ever. I should just leave down.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: You should call. I know a couple of points in
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: a question Fred, everybody has their favorites to America. Don't
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: take it first, hair flap, Fred, your your feel for
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: the league, he puts that in quote is unquestionable, and
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: I generally sign myself for Green with you most of
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: the time. When it comes to donuts, I've got to
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: side with Paul though. I had my first Boston Cream
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: donut last weekend and it's definitely up there as one
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: of the best. Sickeningly sweet to Nope, Nope, he doesn't
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: like things that are good. Nope, too much, too too creamy.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: It's just it's Yeah, I like cream. Anything will cream
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: like if it was real, You're right, cream, then I
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: would eat it. Yeah, describe pudding as creamy though it
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: is creamy, but it's different than cream, and a whipped
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: cream is different than pudding. Yeah, you know, put like
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: vanilla putting a little bit apprehensive about the upcoming season.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Just can't see us getting twenty plus points on the
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: scoreboard in our d getting enough stops each week for
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: us to make the playoffs. With this in mind, any
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: suggestions for how I can convince my forty nine ers
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: supporting wife that we should raise our two year old
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: son Jack as a Patriots fan. Hard argument to make
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: at the moment. Game prediction. Hart says seventeen fourteen Patriots,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: but Head says twenty four to sixteen Dolphins. Okay, So
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: how do we convince Richard's wife that they should raise
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: their son as a Patriots fan? They both have history? Yeah,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: you can't use the history thing, right, And there's Dolphins?
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Is that? What was the other team? No? It wasts Well,
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: you like Mac better than Trey Lance? Maybe? Well, but no,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: but this is the whole thing, Like, it's not just
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: like the current team, it's like, you know, the aura
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: of the team. How do you why would you want
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: to be a forty? I think the Patriots colors are better, yeah,
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: in the location and then then someday you can take
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: your kid to and it's new for the Freedom Trail
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: and you know, you know they live in England, this
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: is New England. Yeah, I would agree with that. But
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: you think the Patriots uniforms are better than I didn't
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: say the uniforms, well, their colors are better than the Niners. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: I think the Niners seven good unis Yeah, yeah, timeless.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: I think colors are better. You know. I'm I happy
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: to like America red, white, and blue. So that is true.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: That is one thing that you have America that's a
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: little different than most. I agree with you, Yeah, I
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: think so, though you got more of a connection. It's
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: a shorter flight too, yet shorter flight over the pond.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Nice just to cross hair. Yep, you can come over
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: and see where you know, the Americans defeated the British
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: at all different sites around here. Huh huh. And as
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: expensive as it is to live here, it's even more
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: expensive over. I mean, we could get Aaron Salkin on
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: here to talk how home values in the Bay Area
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: and he'll kill running right down for you. Absolutely not
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: as good. I'm out of this conversation. Why you like
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: San Francisco better? Yeah, well, I mean technically the forty
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Diners are not located in San Francisco. Let's just start
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: with that. That's right, they're in Santa Clara. Yeah, so
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: like an hour away from San Francisco. Right, at least
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: we say where we are. We're New England, were not. Yeah,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: we're in New England what Foxborough was not. We're not
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: the Boston Patriots, but we're the New England Patriots. That's
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: why we chose that name. No, No, it's kind of
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: New England, kind of like the New York Giants and
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: the New York Jets. That's not in New York, right,
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: the New Jersey Giants and Jets. I mean, at least
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: the Giants used to practice in New York. They don't
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: even do that now. Everything is in It's egregious. I
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: mean they still do. I feel like most I mean
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: even Washington, New York is not in Washington, DC. Do
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: they have they have a New I don't think they
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: didn't move out of New York, did they? I thought
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: they did. They're not in Hempstead anymore. I don't think so. Really.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: I think it's like, is it Florian Park or something like? Oh? Right,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: so where is Florence? Maybe that's in New York too.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I think it is. I think it's in one island,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: but I'm not sure it might be right. We'll make
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: your weight, all right, picks, we gotta hurry. Where is
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: floren Park? It's in New Jersey. Yeah, so they're practice
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: in Jersey. They're both in New Jersey. Whatever, New Jersey,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: they're both New Jersey. They're frauds. I mean, if we
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: called ourselves to Boston patriots, people will have the right
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: to call us frauds. We don't do that. We are
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: new in New England inclusive. Yeah, that's right. Six states?
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: You know why all of them? What market we SELLI
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: and pissing contest? Uh? Guess who's on the line, Alex
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: And I think she's in a cabana. What's up, Alex? Yeah,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: you know, in a nice little cabana, live in large Nice.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: I saw the pictures of you and your mom. That
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: was nice. Oh, your grandma, Oh, grandmother, grandmother. She lives
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: really close to where you guys are practicing. Yeah, she's
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: like ten minutes from the practice field. So we got
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: dinner last night. It was nice. Could you hear the
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: airplanes taking off? And grandma? What did you guys eat?
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: What did you guys? Did she cook something? No, we
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: went out to eat. I got a snapper and some
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: like lemon garlic nogi with it and asparagus. Is very nice.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Oh snapper? Did that come? Like? I don't think when
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: fish comes it has like you see the you still
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: see the fish. It's like they have the fish like. Yeah,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: I just had a filet. My grandmother did the whole
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: fish and went right for the head. Wow, next are
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: my favorite part o. Man, your mother's hardcore. Our grandmother,
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: I'm sorry, grandmother, grandmother. She's from the old country. That's
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: what it is. You like, your friend, It's like soap
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: on a rope. It's like she's right, she's eating the
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: fish eyes. So what's going on down there? Alex Alex Hell, yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: what's what's going on down there? Yeah? Um? Pretty uneventful
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: availability today, not gonna lie a lot of questions about
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: the facilities in the fields, and how the players like
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: practicing there. Um, they didn't seem to think it's much
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: of a big deal that they're playing at a D
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: two college that doesn't have a football field or a
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: football program for that matter. But they just seemed happy
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: to be playing on grass. Yeah, and um, remember when
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: in Rocky four, I think it was when he went
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: off against the Russians went off the grid. Yeah, he
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: went up in the woods, and that's us right now. Yeah,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: you know we're spartan, We're like roughing, right they got
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: if the computers were like, no, we're just gonna hike
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: a mountain. Right. What really reminds me kind of of
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: like a captain's practice from high school. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: where you're maybe a side field, not the primary one,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: and kind of just throwing it all together. But I
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: don't know. It was behind the VFW hall. Go to
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: that second tree, take it out on that one. So um,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: how about attendance everybody there today? Yeah? Um, everyone from
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: the fifty three man roster, um, Harvey Langy from the
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: practice squad was back. The only person I did not
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: see was Cameron mcgron. But it seems like we're in
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: really good health. How else, how is have you seen
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: time Montgomery actually moving it all? Like, does he look
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: like he's moving? Okay, any limp or anything. We really
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: just really just got to watch kind of a stretching
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: period and some basic drills. I've seen him around the
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: hotel a lot and don't notice any weird things with
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: his gait, No real limping. So that's a good sign
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: for sure. Interesting. I'm surprised. Usually when guys get carted off,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: you kind of say goodbye. But that's great. New cards
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: aren't what they used to be doing. I guess not.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: So was it Paul Pierce that changed stretcher it off? Oh? Yeah,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: yeah he was one. He was another one was ridiculous.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Every injury was like career and carried him out. I
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: didn't have to go to the bathroom. I thought that's
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: what it was like. You just had to take a lead.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: He confirmed show that he just had to poop pooped
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: himself the court. Oh hey, we've all been there, ye
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: have we? I remember when Ed Pinkney came out with
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: the shorts on backwards. Yeah, you got to change him. Yeah?
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: All right? What else? Said Alex? All right, we need meteorologist, Alex.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: What's what's the did did the thunder come in that
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: they moved out to you guys? Are you guys are
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: breaking up a little bit? But I think, oh, oh,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: the lightning strike hit. It's just as you all right, Well,
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: we'll let Alex go Alex there, are you all right? Well? Anyway,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: it's that time of the Yeah week, Matt, he's on
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: the phone, Tell her, tell k at her later. All right,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: it is picks. I'm excited Week one of picks. Paul
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: last year, why don't you remind us who one just
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: listen to the records to marry Among the members of
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: the show today, Fred Paul one forty eight one twenty
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: one and three. With the spread, This is with the spread,
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: With the spread, you know, this is where the rubber
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: meets the right. You know, some might say nutcutting time.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: This separates the wheat from the chafe eight one twenty
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: one and three. With the spread, Paul and Fred tied
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: Mike one three six and three. Who Bad's bad? Did
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: you just you know, pick the teams that we pick against?
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: It would it would statistically appear that overall um I
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: was one seventy four eighty seven and one Fred Mike
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: was one seventy three, ninety eight and one and Fred
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: was one seventy one on one on one. But as
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: we know overall, that's just yeah, anybody can do that.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: So so Matt, is this something going on with the
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: headphones or something you because I'm like kind of going
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: in and out. I'm fine, yea ye, your connection tomorrow.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: So how we do this is we go around the
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: table starting with dudes, and you pick the game outright
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: and then against the spread. So you're making two picks
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: and you're allowed to like give a little bit of
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: you know, reasoning, and you want you know why you're
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: picking the way you're picking. U. We'll start with tonight's
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: game eight thirty on and be sure. Uh it's Buffalo
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: at the ROMs, right, and Buffalo Buffalo is favored by
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: two and a half Buffalo minus two and a half. Right, Yes,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: it's pretty impressive being favored on the road against the
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Super Bowl champs. I don't think who are They've lost
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: a couple of peap they lost von Miller and j
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: but they also added Bobby Wagner, so you know, Alan Robinson,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Alan Robinson, some good pieces, great game. I'm excited, Uh,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna stick with the with the train
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: right now, I'm gonna take Buffalo both ways. I think
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: that you know they win, maybe not walking away, but
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: more than three points. Certainly give me the bills both ways.
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: So now it's your turn. Wait, I need to go last. No,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: you go second. Don't ever done mess up the rotation. Wait,
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: so you said you're picking Buffalo. I picked Buffalo both ways.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: So they're gonna win outright, and they'll win by more
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: than two favored by two and a half, so they'd
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: have to win and buy three or more in order
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: to cover. She's gonna be all of us, and she's
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: like playing the Rams of the home team, and that's
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: why they plus two and a half according to your
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: sheet there. So if it's like a one point game,
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: So if I think that one, I don't think that
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: they're gonna win by more than just if I think
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: they're not gonna win by more than I think they're
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: gonna win, but not by more than you do. You're
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: taking Buffalo, but you're gonna win by less than three points. Okay,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: So that means you're taking the Rams with the points, right,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: So you're just taking Buffalo to win. But the Rams
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: to cover. So what do I do? I saw him
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: like circle, and so I circled. I am the official Paul.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: I just do my official book here. Okay. But because
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: he makes sometimes I do not. I do not cheat cheat.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I said, sometimes you make, you'll take the plus take
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: the plus two point fatch. This is all in acting.
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Just so you know. The only one I've ever had
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: problems recording the the answer to is Eric. I've never
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: had a problem with Mike. I've never had a problem
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: with you, Fred. But when Eric goes into one of
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: his twenty five minute dissertations on the Seahawks Broncos game, right,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: sometimes I lose track of who we actually think that
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: has not happened otherwise. Yeah, So Tamara, I have recorded
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: as Buffalo outright the ROMs with the points yep, Okay,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I am going to take the rams both ways because
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: I just feel it's a tough spot. I think everybody's
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: on Buffalo. I think it's a rare situation where the
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: defending Super Bowl champs and that there's a night game
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: are really not getting any love at all, and I
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: think that they'll come out and have a chip on
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: their shoulder. I like it. Yeah, I mean, I was
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: a little worried like two weeks ago when they were
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: talking about Stafford having a thing that I saw the
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: story that you read it. Yeah, he had like that,
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: the PRP injections with Clayton Kershaw, they kind of had
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: the same thing. And they're high school and they went
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: to high school. Feld have friends. Says he feels much
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: better than he did at this time last year. See,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: Paul's a big Stafford fan. Loves him, so if he
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: says he's okay, that makes me feel better. And like,
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: I could see myself picking the bills here, but man,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: I love picking against him now, you know, so I
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: will go. I'm with Paul la both ways. Right Sunday
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: at one, No LANs at Atlanta New Orleans by five
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: and a half. You know. So Jamis Winston's a go
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: He's so goofy. I just like I can't believe that
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: he's a good quarterback. He's so goofy. I like, I
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: love him. I can't believe he's good. I can't believe
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: they're good. Michael Thomas is back, Alvin Kamara, Jarvis Landry.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: I think it's uh who's tossing the ball for Atlanta.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: The Marcus. Yeah with with Coral Patterson, Kyle Pitts, Drake
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: London making his premiere, Brian Edwards from The Raiders. I'm
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: gonna go. I'm gonna go with New Orleans, but you know,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: I think a weird division game. I'm gonna take the
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: points for Atlanta, think that that it'll be a little
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: bit surprisingly close. But I'm gonna give the Saints to win,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: but I'll take the points for Atlanta. Yikes. I'm gonna
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: go Saints because I still think Jameis Winston is good,
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: even though he's had his moments. I think since he's
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: gotten his LAIC that he's a much better quarterback. So
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Saints to win the game and cover. Yeah, Okay, they're
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: gonna win by more than five and a half. She's
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: got it down now. Okay, Yes, I am also going
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: to take the Saints, but I'm with Mike. I think
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Week one Division game on the road. I'll take the points. Yeah,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: I will two same way Saints to win, but they
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: don't cover. Sunday at one, Cleveland at Carolina the Baker
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: Mayfield Bowl, Carolina by one and a hey, that's one
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: and a half. Sorry Carolina, one and a hey. I
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: got it to adjust that one. It was previously two.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: So Jacoby Brissette, the Browns, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, two
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: guys that are pretty good back somewhere around Cleveland. Don't
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: think they have much of a shot this year. Yeah,
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: apparently that's the word on the street, word from from
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: behind the scenes. This is a toilet bowl. I'm sorry,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: this game is bad. I'm gonna I'm gonna take you know,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: I saw Carolina here. I do think they're a little
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: bit healthy. They were pretty good out of the gate
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: last year before it all fell apart, So I'm gonna
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: take I'm gonna take Carolina. Um both ways same. I
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: wish I could pick neither honestly, because they're both terrible,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: but I actually think Cleveland's pretty good. Um, they don't
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: have a quarterback and that will ultimately knock them out
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: of the playoffs. But I will take Cleveland to win
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: against Carolina. I thought I'd be the only one picking
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: Carolina both ways, but that's what I'm gonna do. Um.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: You know, their joint practice with the Patriots helps them.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: I think it's proven that teams that have joint practices
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: with the Patriots start hot. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because they've
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: been challenge at work, don't yeh, don't check it, just
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: go with it. Um Sunday at one, San fron at Chicago,
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: almost Christian Arkee, San Francisco, buy six and a half.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: So we got Trey Lance with with Jimmy g breathing
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: down his throat. Is that is that correct? Breathing down
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: his neck? Oh, I don't know what. I don't know
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: if the hell's going on and saying right, that's the
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: saying people say that, right. Uh, just bears don't have
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: much justin fields. Um, you know, David Montgomery, Darnell Mooney.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: Not not a lot going on there. I think it's
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: a forty nine ers game. I'm gonna take them, and
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna have them cover all six and a half.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I think they win easy. I'm concerned. I want to
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: go forty nine ers, but then I think Trey Lance
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: is gonna go out and throw five picks. So but
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: I don't have to do it anyway, and just hope
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: for the best and hope that they put Jimmy G in.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: If he starts to get bad, oh that'd be bad
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: for a week one they put Jimmy G in. Oh yeah,
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: I like San Francisco big in this game. I'm would
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: do Chicago's kind of in disarray. Yeah. Just six and
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: a half though, is a big number for me. So
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to San Francisco. But I'll take the hook. Paul, Okay,
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I'll take the hook. The Sharps know something. Uh. Sunday
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: at one, Pittsburgh at Cincinnati. Cincinnati by six and a half.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: It's a good one. The Bengals have won the past
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: three interestingly enough, um, but we'll get a good look
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: at Pittsburgh coming up on next week when the Patriots
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: playing with Mitch Drubrisky his first starting nice stuff yesterday,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: Paul by you on miss Drubisky little uh insight into
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: his second season the starter? Personally, why well, why don't
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: you make a call? You've got connections, don't you know?
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Cincinnati. Um. I do think it's an
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: interesting game though. I I'm gonna take this. I'm gonna
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: take the points. I'll take Cincinnati a win, but I'm
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: gonna take the six and a half for Pittsburgh. I
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: think again, same kind of thing, divisional battle. Um, real
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: good defense in Pittsburgh that that should know them pretty well,
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: so I think it's a close one. But but I
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: got the Bengals winning. Yeah, considering I'm not a Mitch
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: Dubisky fan, definitely Bengals. Sorry, Pittsburgh, Um, but I think
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: it's gonna be close because the Pittsburgh's defense is good.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: But personally, Kenny Pickett should start the call. Should I
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: read those stats now or no? Wait, wait till next
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: week when I will take Cincinnati both ways. I think
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: they're just a better team. History has it that a
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: lot of Super Bowl runner ups have a hard time
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the next year. That is correct, so unlike your joint
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: practice theory, that one is actually accurate. To be honest
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: with you, I have no idea if you're on the
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: ones I never thought. So I'm gonna go with Cinci,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: but I will take the points. I will take the points.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Um Sunday at one Philadelphia at Detroit Detroit. I'm sorry,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Philadelphia by three and a half. Three and a half.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: A lot of Dan Campbell hype, I mean a lot
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: of Eagles hype. Though, especially even in the time of
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: this room, Teas has got on upstairs with a Super
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: Bowl pick. I'm not sure I really get all of
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: that craziness. But I do think the Eagles have some
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: really good, intriguing pieces on both sides of the ball.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Love Jordan Davis that they drafted. So I'm gonna go.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Philly to win, and I'll say
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: they cover as well. Same. I mean, I think it
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: goes back to it I said earlier, like you can
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: be great and your culture can be great, but that
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: doesn't make you win games. Sorry. Yeah, I'm gonna take
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: Philadelphia to win, but I will take the hook and
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: I will take Detroit to lose by a field goal. Okay,
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna this is your slam dunk, steal lock upset
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: of the week. Detroit outright wins the game at home.
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I thought about it. That's gonna make it great.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: This is why I have a field I thought about it.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: I thought about it, Freddie, I didn't. I didn't pull
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: the trigger. But I think there's a I agree with Mike.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: There's a lot of hype for Philly. For Philly, Yeah,
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: and who was a Siriano? What's the san I mean
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: he was, you know, like, what's he doing with the
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: practice schedule and all that? But that team played well
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: last year, you know, so he might be a better
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: coach than people think. But I'm gonna go with Detroit early.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: You know, they have a lot of and they'll fade
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: down the threat. They have a lot of That Sunday
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: at one was the guy who has a field for
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: the league at that right. Sunday at one, Indie at Houston,
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Indie by seven and a half, seven and a Hey, interesting,
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: I mean didn't we just get put on ir I
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: don't know. I only know is I like I like
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: the colt Um, but I'm not sure. I'm gonna take
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: the Colts. But I'm gonna also take the points for Houston.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: I think Houston is maybe a little bit underrated and
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: maybe a little more scrappy than people might think, So
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: I'll take the points there. M got a new candidate
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: for Eric spot is so painful. Nothing really happens if
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: you don't get it. Yeah, there are no ramifications whatsoever.
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: So it's very hard for you to do worse than
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: me too. I think I might do hers. I actually
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: just well, let's since this is your first time ever
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: doing this, if you want to take a pass and
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: wait until the end on this one, you can do
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: only get one pass. Yeah, you only get one. Just
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: go with Indie, Okay, I think that's a good go.
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I think the Colts. Uh, you're the easy
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: pick here, but I will take the hook again. Houston
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: is able to maybe get an O by the way
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: touchdown with the backdoor cover. I'm gonna take Indie both ways.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: Um let's go to Sunday at one, Baltimore at the
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: New Jersey Jets. Thank you, Baltimore by seven and a half.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Who and the Joe Flacco Bowl? Ye hope please um
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: lamar back. They got a lot of healthy guys back
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: in the Ravens. I think they get off to a
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: good start. I'm gonna take I'm gonna take the Ravens
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: to win and to cover with that big number. Same Yeah,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: me too. The Ravens get caught looking ahead to week three.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's an I roll. That's that's an embomination.
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: So the Jets cover Sunday at one, the Jaguars at
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: the Commodores like that. Some might not even know who's playing.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: H Washington Washington by two and a half. I mean,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: this this game is like my my toilet Bowl of
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: the week. This is like if this was the only
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: game one I don't know why. I'll talk about Jacksonville
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: and Washington and Cleveland, Caron are both of those are bad?
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: This is nasty? Um, you know, I Washington always seems
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: to have a little bit of something. I'm gonna just
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with them and I'll lay the points. Yikes. Yeah,
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Washington. It's like Carson Wentz. I
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: guess I mean early we'll see. Yeah, yeah, I like
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: Washington both ways in this one. Um, you know, I
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: like Trevor Lawrence. I've stated it on this show many times.
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: I think he is really talented. And hell there's another
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: one from the guy on ninety eight five today he's
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: no good. Oh he's no good, no good, no good,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: can't play. Um, I'm gonna go with Trevor Lawrence and
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Jacksonville wins this game. That's hilarious. Okay, uh,
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: but we'll see all right. Now, what happens is when
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: the Patriots have a game, but there's other games after it,
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: we're gonna skip over the Patriots because we do them last. Okay,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: so when we do that, we all have to go, yeah,
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: do you shake your paper? We have to make over
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: something the Patriots, and we moved to four twenty five.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: The New Jersey Giants at Tennessee Tennessee by five and
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: a half. Tennessee Tennessee. Where is it? Five alms? Okay? Man,
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: I just I continue to wonder what what the Giants
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: are doing. I'm guessing this is going to be kind
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: of an interstitial year before they blow things up and
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: start over next year. Derrick Henry is back for the
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: tight Tens. I'm gonna take Tennessee and I will lay
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: the points. Felt really confident about the way I said
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: that too, So I think I'm back baby this year. Okay,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: I'm looking. Wait, so if I take the points, is
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: that the plus five and a half? Yep? Yeah, that
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: means Tennessee winning. Tennessee is gonna win by fewer than
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: six points. You take Tennessee and you take the points. Yeah,
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that. Okay, So Tennessee with the Giants
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: covering someday when you're like, you know, living in Vegas
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: working for like MGM Sports is like the game. Remember, remember, Guru,
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: it all started right here. I didn't do it once
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: when we were in Vegas. I will take Tennessee both ways.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: What's the number again? Their favorite Tennessee is Yes, Tennessee
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: five and a half Brian Dables first game. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: that's true. That's a big factor. You know what can
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: he get out of Jones? Daniel Jones? U that's a
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: that's a tough one. Um, it's a big number. But
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: I'll go with Tennessee both ways. Four twenty five notices
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: No four or five games. They eliminated those, correct, did
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: they think? So? Okay? Four twenty five Kansas City at Arizona,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: Kansas City by five and a half. Great matchup. Another
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: not one of the top few games this week with
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: Buffalo in the MS, I would say, uh, now is
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: uh is the receiver back for DeAndre Hopkins? Is he
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: back here? No? He's not back here? Suspended still for
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: a six? Right? I forgot about that. That's why it
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: was such a brilliant late round pick in my draft.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Smart chess chess. Uh, I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: the chefs um and I'm gonna I'm gonna lay the points.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: I think even without Tyreek, I think they're gonna I
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: think they're gonna roll. Oh wow, yikes, Tokay, I'm gonna
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: go Arizona. Um. Okay, that's all you need to say.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: If you think Arizona is gonna win any Arizona yep,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: so you automatically get Arizona in the points, right because
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: they're underdogs. Arizona's pick more underdogs. This makes it easy, right,
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: makes it easy. Maybe the Chiefs are off the same
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: way they did last year. Yeah, And that's the one
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: thing that I'm concerned about is Arizona starts fast and
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: Kansas City last year anyway didn't. But I'm gonna take
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: the Chiefs both ways. I'm with Tamara. I'm taking Cardinals
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: both ways. But as Paul said, I don't have to
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: do that right because it's only one way. Tomara understood
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: how to do it. You don't, okay, fur twenty five
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: Raiders at that shot. This is the game, is a game,
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: It's a game. Yeah, Charges the lack. This is big
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: boy football by three and a half. Three and a
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: hay wait you said Chargers are Chargers favored by three
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: and a half, Chargers favorite at home? Justin Herbert big fan. Um,
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: But I gotta admit I'm rooting for Josh and the
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: Raiders in all games but but one this year. So
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna vote with my with my heart,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: and I'm gonna take the Raiders to this one. I'm
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: gonna say Raiders based off what we saw in joint
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: practices here, gonna be hard to see John practice of
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: the Charges. We might have walked away similarly impressed. But
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: Davante Adams though, who's on there that looks like that?
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. That's the neckler. I don't know.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: I got some pieces. Hey, that's my that's my first
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: round picks. I am going to take the lack. Oh crap,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I put that on Fred's column. I'm gonna take the
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: lack to win, but Vegas already, but Vegas to cover.
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: I'll have to adjust accordingly if um yeah, I'm torn
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: on this one. Uh So, it sounds like you can
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: do the same thing. You know, the Vegas did have
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: the you know, added benefit of practicing with us, so
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: they come off of that, you know, they've elevated their
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: game level and somebody in the AFC West has to
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: come in last. Somebody does, and I think it's gonna
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: be the Chargers. It's not gonna be dead man. Yeah,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: I think so. I'm gonna go with Vegas to win
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: this game. Okay, so I'm changing the lack to Vegas
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: on your Sunday four twenty five. Green Bay at Minnesota.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: I can't get enough for those division games. Green Bay
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: gotta have something by one and a half. No, that's true,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins. I mean, obviously great player. I had had
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: to do that. I mean, you gotta love their their
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: weaponry though around him. Kind of an interesting you know,
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: with Aaron Rodgers losing some of his guys, having some
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: rookies come in, Christian Watson, guy we liked them to draft.
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: At this point, it's it's still too hard to pick
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: against Green Bay. I'm gonna I'm gonna take them, and
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: I'll lay those points. Yep, I'm gonna go Aaron Rodgers
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: for sure. I will take Minnesota at home. In the
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: opener to big Kirk Cousins fan, well, I think at
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: home they're there. They always give Green Bay tough time
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: in Minnesota, something they can't win in Lambeau. But I'll
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: take them at home. Yeah, this is a toss up
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: for me. I'll just go with Green Bay and are
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: there points involved one and a half just to they'll
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: cover two bold a Sunday night. You're quite strong at
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: eight twenty Uh, Tampa Bay at Dallas, Tampa by two
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: and a half two two. Uh. You know, I just
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: I got I got kind of lukewarm feelings about Tampa
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: Bay this year. Um, I wonder if they're going to backslide. Finally,
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Dallas in this one. It's gonna fall
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: off a cliff. I think they win. I didn't say that. Um,
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Tampa. But then I can I give
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: how do you so if if Dallas loses by two
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: or one, you would win if you have Tampa to
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: win the game. So if Dallas only loses by two
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: points or one point, you would win both. Okay, it's
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: a very small spread. So you want to take Dallas
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: with the points? Yeah, okay, I'll take Tampa both ways.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: I kind of agree with Douce though. I'm really not
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: sure what you're gonna get from the Bucks based on
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: that preseason. Right, I got a lot of talents. Still,
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: I'll be wrong believing that Brady will continue to play well. Yeah,
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: I'd rather do that than kick myself saying what am
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: I doing? Doubting Brady, Right, I'm gonna doubt him, and
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Dallas. Uh. They're another fast starter team,
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: so absolutely. Although Dallas's home record is is unusually average,
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: it's not as they don't have the home field advantage
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: you would think they would at that mecca. It's pretty average.
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: But I'll go with Dallas. Monday Night on Embry sure, Uh,
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: Denver if a rare road game at Seattle. This is
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: the Monday night game. Yeah, so that's ESPN correct? Oh
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: is it? Oh? Yeah, the other one was correct Sunday Night.
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: I just want to make sure case people. Sometimes early
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: in the season there's two Monday night games, they don't
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: They don't do that this year it's only one. So yeah,
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: but don't be confused because this Joe Buck, Troy Aikman,
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: please assalters. You might think you're watching Fox, you're not.
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: You might, but you're not. The Russell Wilson Bowl. Yeah
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: that's true. Um, I find it hard. Sorry, and hey, yeah,
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: I find it hard not to pick denver Um even
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: though I do think that they're the last place team
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: in the ANFC West this year. Um, but it's just
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: hard with what Seattle's got, so I'm gonna take Denver
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: both ways, same team wrestle and Siah Yeah, I um,
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: I think Seattle is going to be in for a
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: really long season. I'll take Denver both ways. I am too,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Denver both ways. Um, now, Tamara, we
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: go back. I went this way with my hand when
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: we skip over. Now I'm gonna go back. But she's
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: just one o'clock to Miami hosting the Patriots. One o'clock game.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: Miami by three and a half. So now you get
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: three points for being at home, so it's really a half.
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: Why you trend, You're confusing her even more when you're
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: the home team you get three points, She's gonna be
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: wrapped up. Um. Yeah, you know. I look, I it's
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: it's hard for me to pick the Patriots right here.
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: I think if you look at the signs of the
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: of the offseason that you know, most people probably will
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: be correct and pick in Miami. But I'm not ready
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: to turn my back on them just yet. I'm gonna
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: pick the Patriots. Uh, in Week one, I think they're
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: gonna pull off, um a bit of an upset here
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: down in Miami, get off to a good start. I'm
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: gonna say Patriots twenty four to twenty. Sorry, it's one.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: We give a score for the Patriots game too. You
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: have to give a score, Um, Miami twenty one seventeen. Okay,
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: stick to what I said. So that means Miami covers
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: as well Miami and covers for Tamara. How dare you? Yeah?
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: I see it, h you know the same way. I
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: think Miami, um looks like they're a little bit more
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: prepared at the start of the season. And we'll see
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: if the Patriots are playing a little ropea dope with
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: everybody U and they're they're gonna be ready to go.
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: But I just don't know how you can flip the
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: switch with so many new parts and new pieces, changing
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: offenses and all of a sudden go from what we
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: saw and then change it dramatically. I think Miami wins
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: twenty seven sixteen. So it's come down to this week one.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: How can I bet against the Patriots? Right? Um? I
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: didn't think there was a chance, but I did give
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: you the opening before I wrote it. I think I
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: think you know, the Patriots have bonded, They've gone down early,
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: They've bonded, uh Spartan, you know, like no accoutrement. They
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: they had to just deal with what they had. They
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: had to adapt, and that's what the season is going
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: to be all about. Adapting. Every week, it's gonna see
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: something different. Uh, this week, you're gonna see a win.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: Twenty eight nineteen Patriots win. Berman like score twenty eight nineteen.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: Twenty eight nineteen Patriots win this game. You know, this
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: four game stretch is a good test. I don't think
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: they're gonna win all four, but this one I think
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: they're gonna win. They're gonna win this one in Miami.
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: I like it so twenty eight nineteen. And you notice
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: how tomorrow we just did sixteen games and I end
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: just in time for the end of the show. Notice
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: that that's why he says we got a hurry when
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: the picks. He knows I know the pacing clock. I
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: don't just have a feel for the game, League, I
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: have a feel for the show. She's like, I worked
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: for this. Never let you know what play this guy is.
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: Fred just told me that he's the Bill Belichick of
