- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gatz and Hawkman.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't even know you were starting. I
- 0:12Speaker 2: like that.
- 0:12Speaker 3: It seems to catch you off guard every time I
- 0:15Speaker 3: do it. Yet I started, even though I know it's
- 0:17Speaker 3: coming with, I mean.
- 0:19Speaker 4: But you have this smile on your face when you hear.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I mean, no, I want to start.
- 0:27Speaker 5: A podcast called that. I mean, I mean, that's the
- 0:30Speaker 5: next one. That's the product extensions.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I mean.
- 0:38Speaker 6: Yes.
- 0:38Speaker 2: You're saying it's the.
- 0:40Speaker 5: Next one that Taylor is going to be bored by
- 0:42Speaker 5: is what you're saying.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly.
- 0:45Speaker 5: I mean, Taylor is still bored. It's a very rainy day.
- 0:50Speaker 5: Current topics, right?
- 0:51Speaker 3: It's a very rainy day in Boca as we record this.
- 0:55Speaker 3: And Stu got said to me, I'd like to go
- 0:56Speaker 3: back to sleep right now because it's so gloomy and
- 0:59Speaker 3: rainy out.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Can you nap?
- 1:01Speaker 3: We had this conversation on the radio show a couple
- 1:04Speaker 3: of days ago. You know, my mother was just this
- 1:08Speaker 3: woman who, um, she didn't believe in napping. She didn't
- 1:13Speaker 3: believe in buying a Crowder and Solano were tickled by it.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Like she just, you know, you know, A mother can
- 1:20Speaker 3: ruin you for the rest of your life.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:23Speaker 4: She was of the belief fat and lazy people buy
- 1:26Speaker 4: a candy bar at, say, a gas station if you're
- 1:29Speaker 4: checking out or whatever.
- 1:30Speaker 5: So I've never been able to do that. I just
- 1:32Speaker 5: can't do that. And I also cannot nap. Because she
- 1:34Speaker 5: thought napping was for fat and lazy people. And that
- 1:37Speaker 5: wasn't allowed in our house.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:39Speaker 2: She'll sleep when she's dead. She's that kind of person.
- 1:41Speaker 1: She is dead.
- 1:42Speaker 5: And she's been sleeping now for several years. Imagine her
- 1:45Speaker 5: saying that to you. Like, hey, I'll sleep when I'm dead.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:48Speaker 4: When my father was dying of pancreatic cancer and he was,
- 1:52Speaker 4: I mean, just dead tired.
- 1:55Speaker 2: No pun.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Um, she wouldn't let him nap still. Well, no, Lyle con.
- 2:02Speaker 5: If you nap, then your, your body's not fighting off
- 2:05Speaker 5: the pancreatic cancer. She just, she had her own ideas
- 2:09Speaker 5: and I, I have, so I would not even be
- 2:11Speaker 5: able to nap today, even though today's a perfect nap day.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Could you nap?
- 2:15Speaker 2: I could probably nap. I am fascinated by her.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Not allowing her dad to sleep when he has cancer.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I mean, and then she was dying of lung cancer
- 2:25Speaker 3: and she wouldn't. I mean, if it was bedtime, she'd
- 2:28Speaker 3: go to sleep. If not, you got to be out
- 2:30Speaker 3: and active and moving around.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I got to tell her she's tougher than everyone on
- 2:35Speaker 5: the Dolphins. I mean, she was a badass.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I couldn't have.
- 2:42Speaker 5: Could I fall asleep right now? I probably could. I
- 2:46Speaker 5: don't know if you enjoy this on YouTube going to sleep.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I now like sound like rain. Okay. I listen to
- 2:53Speaker 5: YouTube Zen going to bed just about every night. It's fantastic.
- 2:57Speaker 7: Yes.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Really?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like sounds when I'm going to bed.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I like silence. You like the TV on?
- 3:05Speaker 1: No. No.
- 3:07Speaker 4: No?
- 3:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:09Speaker 2: TV goes off. What about you, Taylor? Can you nap?
- 3:12Speaker 8: I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Airplane?
- 3:17Speaker 8: Airplane, yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Especially during this show. It's in Zen.
- 3:29Speaker 5: His YouTube Zen channel is this podcast.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He just puts an episode of us on. I can't
- 3:38Speaker 2: sleep on an airplane. Can't do it. Oh, I could
- 3:41Speaker 2: sleep on it. Yes, easily. Easily. On an airplane? Of course.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I can't do it. I'll even take an Ambien. You know,
- 3:47Speaker 2: if it's an overseas flight, still can't sleep.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:51Speaker 5: So listen, so you sleep, you wake up, you put
- 3:54Speaker 5: your day in, you go to sleep when it's time
- 3:56Speaker 5: to go to bed, just like she taught you. That's
- 3:59Speaker 5: how a mother can dement a child for the rest
- 4:02Speaker 5: of his life. Speaking of death, let's get to the
- 4:05Speaker 5: first part of today's podcast.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I got this direct message on Instagram.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Hey, Hawk, I'm a huge fan of the show. I've
- 4:16Speaker 3: been listening since the beginning at 790. My uncle was
- 4:21Speaker 3: actually the one who introduced me to the show, and
- 4:23Speaker 3: it became something we bonded over. Unfortunately, he's no longer
- 4:27Speaker 3: with us, and his birthday just recently passed. His absolute
- 4:31Speaker 3: favorite segment was Leroy Jenkins. It would honestly mean a
- 4:35Speaker 3: lot to me if you guys could bring back a
- 4:37Speaker 3: Leroy Jenkins clip or two in his honor. I'm still
- 4:41Speaker 3: a huge fan of you, Stu and Dan. Listen to
- 4:45Speaker 3: each of your shows every day. Thank you guys for
- 4:48Speaker 3: all the years of entertainment and for being a part
- 4:51Speaker 3: of so many good memories with my uncle and getting
- 4:53Speaker 3: me through the dark times. I really appreciate everything you
- 4:57Speaker 3: guys do.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Very nice.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Always nice to hear that.
- 5:00Speaker 5: We've inconvenienced a lot of listeners by splitting up and
- 5:03Speaker 5: doing three separate shows.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And now we're talking about doing an I Mean podcast.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I mean, what are we going to do? Here is
- 5:13Speaker 2: the Leroy Jenkins bit.
- 5:15Speaker 4: So just to give you a little context, this was
- 5:18Speaker 4: the early, early.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Days of the Levitard show.
- 5:21Speaker 3: And As evidenced by Dan, when he starts here, he
- 5:26Speaker 3: talks about me, Andy, and Joe laughing in the other
- 5:31Speaker 3: side of the studio. Joe was a board op of
- 5:33Speaker 3: ours for maybe a month or two. I don't even
- 5:35Speaker 3: remember his last name. Andy King was my original... associate
- 5:41Speaker 3: producer after he was the original executive producer and then
- 5:44Speaker 3: i took over but then he left to do sid's
- 5:47Speaker 3: show and that's when mike ryan came on so this
- 5:49Speaker 3: is early early.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Days wow this is very early yes the.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Show and uh and we're watching a youtube video back
- 5:57Speaker 3: there and youtube by the way in 2004 when this
- 6:01Speaker 3: show started when the dan lebitard show started YouTube wasn't
- 6:05Speaker 3: like as ubiquitous as it is now. So Dan sees
- 6:09Speaker 3: me and Andy and Joe, like we're gathered around a
- 6:12Speaker 3: monitor and we're cracking up at something.
- 6:14Speaker 2: He wants to know what it is.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Aha.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 6:17Speaker 5: This is probably one of the first things since you
- 6:19Speaker 5: mentioned YouTube and it's Leroy Jenkins that kind of went
- 6:22Speaker 5: viral on YouTube.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Correct. Yep.
- 6:24Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 2: A hundred percent. A hundred percent. So here's how it
- 6:26Speaker 2: played out on the air.
- 6:29Speaker 10: Andy and Hawk and Joe and Mike. are pulling the
- 6:34Speaker 10: puppet strings on this extravaganza. They've been laughing in the
- 6:39Speaker 10: back throughout the entirety of the show, and it's not
- 6:41Speaker 10: because of anything that we're saying.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 6:45Speaker 2: What are you guys doing back there, Hawk?
- 6:47Speaker 4: So you've seen these virtual PC games, you know, where
- 6:51Speaker 4: people sit in front of their computers, they put headphones
- 6:53Speaker 4: on that have a little microphone attached, and they live
- 6:56Speaker 4: in these virtual worlds.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You familiar with this? Yes, uh-huh.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Okay, so there's Doom and a whole bunch of different games,
- 7:02Speaker 4: and literally draws millions and millions of online players. I
- 7:06Speaker 4: find this much sadder than a strip club, like a
- 7:08Speaker 4: strip club happy, online game playing sad to me.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So on YouTube, there's an online game.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I don't know what the game is, but these friends
- 7:18Speaker 4: have gotten together, and you'll hear them talking through their headphones,
- 7:22Speaker 4: and they're talking to each other. One's probably sitting in California,
- 7:25Speaker 4: the other's in Florida, and they're talking about attacking.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Whatever wizard or warrior... They're going after.
- 7:31Speaker 7: Right.
- 7:32Speaker 4: And you can tell they've been planning this attack for
- 7:35Speaker 4: months and months and months.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Like you'll even hear him saying there, Bob, can we
- 7:41Speaker 4: get a ratio breakdown on that? And he's like, you know, click, click, click, click. Yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 4: we've got a 33 percent survival possibility. And he's like,
- 7:50Speaker 4: all right, well, that's better than we've had before. Like
- 7:52Speaker 4: they're they are stoked to get in there and do
- 7:55Speaker 4: this attack.
- 7:56Speaker 11: Right.
- 7:56Speaker 4: And one of their friends, apparently a guy named Leroy Jenkins,
- 8:02Speaker 4: is sleeping through this entire conversation.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And when you're watching it on YouTube, like you could
- 8:06Speaker 2: see his icon.
- 8:07Speaker 4: All the other icons are moving because they're talking and
- 8:10Speaker 4: he's just sitting there quiet.
- 8:11Speaker 2: And they're in the middle of, all right, let's get
- 8:13Speaker 2: it together. We're going to go in. And all of
- 8:15Speaker 2: a sudden.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Leroy wakes up. yells out Leroy Jenkins.
- 8:19Speaker 2: He yells out his own name.
- 8:20Speaker 4: And just attacks the Warriors before they're all ready.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And they're like, what's going on?
- 8:25Speaker 7: What's going on?
- 8:26Speaker 2: We got to stop them, stop them. But you can
- 8:28Speaker 2: hear the audio of all this happening. Like you'll hear
- 8:31Speaker 2: them planning the attack.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Then Leroy comes out of nowhere, shouts his own name
- 8:35Speaker 4: and starts attacking, throws off their plan.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And then they're all thrown into chaos.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Okay, guys.
- 8:42Speaker 6: These eggs have given us a lot of trouble in
- 8:43Speaker 6: the past. I'll run in first, gather up all the
- 8:47Speaker 6: eggs so we can kind of just blast them all
- 8:49Speaker 6: down with AoE. I will use Intimidating Shout to kind
- 8:53Speaker 6: of scatter them so we don't have to fight a
- 8:54Speaker 6: whole bunch of them at once. We're going to need
- 8:57Speaker 6: Divine Intervention on our mages so we can, of course,
- 9:00Speaker 6: get them down fast because we're bringing all these guys.
- 9:02Speaker 6: I mean, we'll be in trouble if we don't take
- 9:04Speaker 6: them down quick. I think it's a pretty good plan.
- 9:06Speaker 6: We should be able to pull it off this time.
- 9:09Speaker 6: What do you think, Abdul? Can you give me a
- 9:10Speaker 6: number crunch real quick?
- 9:11Speaker 7: Yeah, give me a sec.
- 9:13Speaker 6: I'm coming up with 32.33, repeating, of course, percentage of survival.
- 9:19Speaker 6: That's a lot better than we usually do.
- 9:22Speaker 2: All right, chums, I'm ready, guys.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Let's do this. Leroy Larkin!
- 9:29Speaker 2: Oh my god, he just ran in. Save him.
- 9:31Speaker 9: Oh jeez, stick to the plane.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Oh jeez. Let's go, let's go. Stick to the plane, chums.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Stick to the plane. Oh jeez, oh.
- 9:38Speaker 5: F * * *.
- 9:40Speaker 7: I can't move.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Am I lagging?
- 9:41Speaker 7: I can't move. What the hell?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 9:45Speaker 7: Damn it, Leroy.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Leroy, you moron.
- 9:48Speaker 7: It's not my fault.
- 9:51Speaker 1: He shouted his own name.
- 9:53Speaker 7: Is he a black guy?
- 9:59Speaker 2: He's an anarchist.
- 10:02Speaker 10: K-Rod just wandered through here and says that they've been
- 10:05Speaker 10: making every time they talk about Antoine Walker, they fire off.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Leroy's name during his show. Because Antoine doesn't listen to anybody. Antoine!
- 10:18Speaker 10: You can totally picture Pat Riley screaming, Antoine! So they're
- 10:28Speaker 10: planning the attack and he just shouts his own name?
- 10:33Speaker 4: You can tell how seriously they're taking it.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Stick to the plan!
- 10:36Speaker 4: Stick to the plan!
- 10:38Speaker 2: They mortify him.
- 10:41Speaker 5: That is such an iconic moment from the Levitard show.
- 10:45Speaker 5: And it's such a great look back in time, too,
- 10:47Speaker 5: because when I'm explaining it to you and Dan, I
- 10:50Speaker 5: talk about how the Leroy Jenkins icon isn't moving. which
- 10:54Speaker 5: nowadays everyone knows is an avatar. Back then, it was
- 10:58Speaker 5: a foreign language to me.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Icon.
- 11:00Speaker 3: And none of you guys called me out on it
- 11:02Speaker 3: because all of you guys thought it was an icon
- 11:04Speaker 3: as well.
- 11:04Speaker 2: But I was like, ooh, Icon. That would be an
- 11:06Speaker 2: avatar 20 years later.
- 11:08Speaker 5: I've listened to that sound so many times before, and
- 11:11Speaker 5: that was the first time I've listened and actually heard
- 11:13Speaker 5: Leroy say, it's.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Not my fault. Which is the best thing. It is
- 11:18Speaker 2: such a great reaction.
- 11:20Speaker 3: He knows he fucked the whole thing up and he's like,
- 11:23Speaker 3: it's not my fault.
- 11:27Speaker 5: One of the people in there, and I noticed this
- 11:30Speaker 5: for the first time as well, they are laughing because
- 11:33Speaker 5: they know.
- 11:34Speaker 2: How hysterical it is. You hear the guy kind of
- 11:37Speaker 2: on the verge of laughter.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:39Speaker 3: They know they got rug pulled before being rug pulled
- 11:42Speaker 3: was a thing. They got rug pulled by some rando
- 11:45Speaker 3: guy named Leroy Jenkins who.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Waited through all these rehearsals just to do that. And
- 11:52Speaker 4: there really was there was like no virality back then.
- 11:55Speaker 4: So Leroy Jenkins, whoever he was, was just doing this
- 11:57Speaker 4: for his friends. I'm sure he was screen recording it
- 12:00Speaker 4: and he was just going to show his friends like
- 12:02Speaker 4: it wasn't like everybody does everything nowadays to go viral.
- 12:05Speaker 9: Right.
- 12:05Speaker 3: That wasn't a mindset back then. Like that was just
- 12:08Speaker 3: to entertain his friends.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'm sure. Yes.
- 12:10Speaker 2: When Leroy did that, he had no idea he was
- 12:12Speaker 2: about to go viral. Correct. I mean, we didn't know
- 12:15Speaker 2: what it was.
- 12:16Speaker 3: 22 years later, someone would still be talking about him
- 12:19Speaker 3: on a podcast, which didn't exist, I don't think, podcasts.
- 12:26Speaker 2: But this is interesting.
- 12:27Speaker 3: So as the Levitard show became more mature, we would
- 12:34Speaker 3: take a moment like that. It would become viral within
- 12:37Speaker 3: our own show, right? We would make big opens like
- 12:40Speaker 3: it would just become viral on our show for a
- 12:44Speaker 3: month or so. This was so early on that it
- 12:48Speaker 3: didn't necessarily become viral. We played the sounds over and over,
- 12:52Speaker 3: but we tried a couple of things to capture that magic.
- 12:57Speaker 3: This one, I think, is a swing and a miss.
- 12:59Speaker 3: It probably only aired once. I'm imagining anyone listening right
- 13:02Speaker 3: now is not going to remember this, but I tried
- 13:05Speaker 3: to do a bit.
- 13:06Speaker 5: Where this was the cam Cameron one in 15 dolphin season.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Cam Cameron was a punchline at this point because he
- 13:13Speaker 5: was terrible head coach. Um, and so I tried to
- 13:17Speaker 5: create a Leroy Jenkins bit. where cam cameron is about
- 13:23Speaker 5: to go out and do his weekly media session with
- 13:26Speaker 5: the dolphins media and dolphins brass has kind of pulled
- 13:31Speaker 5: him aside to say hey let's approach this in you
- 13:35Speaker 5: know kind of a a manner that is not going
- 13:38Speaker 5: to become laughing stock for all the dolphins fans writers
- 13:43Speaker 5: and cam cameron just does kind of his own leroy
- 13:46Speaker 5: jenkins this is the bit.
- 13:49Speaker 12: Okay guys the uh The media has given us a
- 13:52Speaker 12: lot of trouble in the past. I'll go in first
- 13:56Speaker 12: and gather up all their attention and we can just
- 13:58Speaker 12: kind of blast down their guard. I might use an
- 14:02Speaker 12: intimidating line to scatter them all so you don't have
- 14:04Speaker 12: to answer to them all.
- 14:05Speaker 2: At once, Cam. It's a pretty good plan. We should
- 14:09Speaker 2: be able to pull it off this time. What do
- 14:12Speaker 2: you think, Brian? Can you give me a number crunch
- 14:14Speaker 2: real quick?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Give me a sec. I'm up to about 32 reporters.
- 14:20Speaker 12: All right, well, that's a lot more than we usually have.
- 14:22Speaker 8: All right, guys, let's do this. Cam, Cameron.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God, he just went in. Save him. Let's go,
- 14:29Speaker 1: let's go.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Stick to the plan.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Oh, geez, oh, God. What the hell? Damn it, Cam.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Cam, you moron.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Not my fault. Cam, you're just stupid as hell.
- 14:37Speaker 2: At least I have lemon.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Which is a Cleo Lemon reference there at the end.
- 14:45Speaker 5: So in that scenario, you're Harvey Green.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Are you asking Brian Weidmeier?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yes, he was the president of the team.
- 14:57Speaker 4: It was very, very well done by you. Yes, it
- 15:00Speaker 4: was Harvey Green and Brian Weidmeier trying to keep things
- 15:03Speaker 4: under control.
- 15:04Speaker 2: The voices on that, I believe.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Brian Weidmeier is played by the late Dave Starr.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Our old production director.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:16Speaker 3: And I believe Cam Cameron is played by Joe the
- 15:20Speaker 3: Board Hop.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Whose name I can't remember. The last name I can't remember.
- 15:26Speaker 2: What is Joe's last name?
- 15:28Speaker 5: You knew we kept it real with the actual names
- 15:31Speaker 5: of those who might gather around Cam Cameron and try
- 15:34Speaker 5: to protect him from a voracious media attack. But I
- 15:37Speaker 5: love it that bit that you have Brian Weidmeier, who
- 15:39Speaker 5: again was the president of the Dolphins, being responsible for
- 15:43Speaker 5: knowing how many media members were there to talk to Cam.
- 15:47Speaker 2: He's like, damn it, Cam. It's not my fault.
- 15:52Speaker 5: And this is one other thing that I found, and
- 15:55Speaker 5: this is obviously a very sensitive subject matter. Tim Hardaway
- 16:01Speaker 5: had been on the show recently, and I believe the
- 16:04Speaker 5: line was, I dislike gay people.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Is that what he said? I hate gay people. I
- 16:11Speaker 2: think he said, I hate gay people or I don't
- 16:13Speaker 2: like gay people. Something.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I think that was probably our most viral moment at
- 16:19Speaker 3: the beginning of the show. The Tim Hardaway thing. I
- 16:21Speaker 3: remember when Tim Hardaway did that showing up to the
- 16:24Speaker 3: radio station the next day and there were live trucks
- 16:28Speaker 3: in the parking lot news, live trucks. I remember the
- 16:31Speaker 3: moment that it happened and, Someone called me on the hotline,
- 16:35Speaker 3: a local reporter, and said, can we get that audio?
- 16:38Speaker 3: And if you fast forward a few days, Oprah Winfrey's
- 16:41Speaker 3: talking about it. And I believe Tim Hardaway ended up
- 16:44Speaker 3: going on the Oprah Winfrey show to talk about that
- 16:48Speaker 3: and what had transpired on the show.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Not even a few days.
- 16:51Speaker 5: I remember after the show, Dan was nauseous in the
- 16:56Speaker 5: parking lot.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Both of us were.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Because we couldn't, you know, Dan tried to throw him
- 17:01Speaker 5: a lifeline a couple of times. Hardaway wouldn't take it.
- 17:04Speaker 5: We couldn't believe that Hardaway had said that or felt
- 17:07Speaker 5: that way. And we also knew what was going to
- 17:10Speaker 5: happen to Tim Hardaway, his local businesses down here in
- 17:13Speaker 5: South Florida. And so we were disappointed in Hardaway for
- 17:17Speaker 5: saying it, upset because we knew what was going to
- 17:20Speaker 5: happen to Tim. But I get home that day and
- 17:23Speaker 5: I tell my wife about it. And for whatever reason,
- 17:26Speaker 5: she says, yeah, you know, we'll probably have a lot
- 17:29Speaker 5: of traction down here, but nationally it won't. And the
- 17:32Speaker 5: next morning we wake up and the clip of the
- 17:35Speaker 5: show is being played on the Today Show. And it's
- 17:39Speaker 5: Matt Lauer and Katie Couric talking about it.
- 17:43Speaker 2: And then he's on Oprah. A day later. And so
- 17:46Speaker 2: it was, yeah, it was massive news.
- 17:48Speaker 1: It really was.
- 17:49Speaker 5: And in many ways, put our show on the map
- 17:52Speaker 5: in a national way. That's not the way we wanted it.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Not the way we intended. But for whatever reason, it
- 17:57Speaker 5: was splashed all over national TV.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I know people like to think that you're waiting for
- 18:02Speaker 3: a moment like that when you're doing a radio show
- 18:05Speaker 3: or a podcast or whatever. And all of us were like,
- 18:08Speaker 3: Heartbroken when he said it and then didn't take Dan's lifeline.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I mean, Dan really tried to pull him out of that.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Tim Hardaway has successfully rehabilitated his image. He has admitted
- 18:21Speaker 3: a number of times he was. speaking from a place
- 18:25Speaker 3: with no knowledge and didn't mean what he said. And
- 18:30Speaker 3: now we get Tim Hardaway Jr. on the heat this season,
- 18:33Speaker 3: which means we'll see Tim Hardaway a lot around the
- 18:36Speaker 3: arena during the heat season. But that brings me to
- 18:41Speaker 3: this clip of limited fake Leroy Jenkins, Tim Hardaway calling
- 18:46Speaker 3: into the show.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Oh, geez. Chris, you're on 790.
- 18:51Speaker 13: All right, we're back in the.
- 18:52Speaker 14: Dan Levitard Show. And, Stu, do you have any statistics
- 18:55Speaker 14: for the show? Yeah, Dan, right now there's about 32.3
- 18:59Speaker 14: people listening to the show. Well, that's a lot better
- 19:01Speaker 14: than we usually do. And we're going to go ahead
- 19:04Speaker 14: with Tim Hardaway. Let's stick to the game plan. We
- 19:07Speaker 14: don't want any SEC violations. Let's do this. I hate me, folks!
- 19:26Speaker 1: What a call.
- 19:29Speaker 4: I mean, because you can even hear you and Dan
- 19:33Speaker 4: don't really want to laugh after the call.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I don't even want to laugh now. It's 22 years later.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I feel uncomfortable laughing at that now. Taylor's just rubbing
- 19:43Speaker 3: his head because he doesn't want to laugh at it either.
- 19:46Speaker 2: It's 22 years later. but that call was perfect. I
- 19:55Speaker 2: need to hear it again. Play it again. Chris, you're
- 19:58Speaker 2: on 790.
- 20:00Speaker 13: All right, we're back in.
- 20:01Speaker 14: The Dan Levitard Show, and Stu Gatz, do you have
- 20:03Speaker 14: any statistics for the show? Yeah, Dan, right now there's
- 20:07Speaker 14: about 32.3 people listening to the show. Well, that's a
- 20:10Speaker 14: lot better than we usually do, and we're going to
- 20:13Speaker 14: go ahead with Tim Hardaway. Let's stick to the game plan.
- 20:16Speaker 14: We don't want any SEC violations.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Let's do this.
- 20:20Speaker 14: I hate me, folks!
- 20:28Speaker 2: That was so well done. I think we turned our
- 20:32Speaker 2: mics off. That was so well done.
- 20:38Speaker 5: I mean, God bless the callers because that was really
- 20:43Speaker 5: well done.
- 20:44Speaker 2: The callers really understood the show. They really, they just,
- 20:48Speaker 2: they understood it. They did to their credit.
- 20:50Speaker 3: There's something you want to hear on this podcast. I
- 20:53Speaker 3: always tell you, you can DM me on Instagram. It's radio,
- 20:55Speaker 3: Mark Hockman on Instagram. That's why we played Leroy Jenkins
- 20:59Speaker 3: because that person had DM me and said, it reminds
- 21:02Speaker 3: him of his late uncle.
- 21:04Speaker 2: We all got a good laugh out of it.
- 21:06Speaker 3: And hopefully, uh, you podcaster were a podcast listener. We're listening,
- 21:11Speaker 3: got a, uh, a chuckle out of it as well.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Here's a DM. I got Hawk first time, long time.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I'm very behind on the podcast, but I'm listening to
- 21:19Speaker 3: you and Stu gots. Talk about meatloaf, lazy dog in
- 21:23Speaker 3: Boca Raton. Some of the best meatloaf. Give it a try.
- 21:26Speaker 1: All right.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So there you go.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Meet you there.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Just wanted to share that with you. Have you been
- 21:31Speaker 2: to lazy dog? It's at the mall.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Well, I know you've been there because you love them all.
- 21:39Speaker 5: I haven't been there.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Is it good? I don't think I've ever actually eaten there,
- 21:43Speaker 2: but I don't know. Well, have you seen it? Like,
- 21:46Speaker 2: have you seen it?
- 21:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Does it look like a place that would have good meatloaf?
- 21:50Speaker 5: Because I'm very specific to where I.
- 21:52Speaker 2: You know, it doesn't. Yeah. Somebody DMs us.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Hey, I just saw a Ron McGill commercial for a
- 22:00Speaker 3: political candidate, and it got me thinking. Did the Levitard
- 22:04Speaker 3: show kind of make him a big figure in South Florida,
- 22:07Speaker 3: or was he always influential and I just didn't know
- 22:09Speaker 3: about him?
- 22:10Speaker 2: As always, keep up the great work.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I think we talked about this once because we did
- 22:15Speaker 3: a McGill pod, but Ron McGill came to the Levitard
- 22:19Speaker 3: show because of Mike Ryan.
- 22:21Speaker 14: So.
- 22:22Speaker 2: I was the executive producer. Mike was the associate producer.
- 22:26Speaker 3: There was the, I think it was the chimpanzee, uh,
- 22:29Speaker 3: face lady face incident. And we were talking about it.
- 22:33Speaker 3: And Mike said to me, I have the perfect guest.
- 22:37Speaker 3: It's Ron McGill. And I guess anyone who had grown
- 22:40Speaker 3: up down here would do field trips to zoo Miami.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I think it was called Metro zoo back then, but
- 22:46Speaker 3: they knew Ron McGill and Ron McGill would do a
- 22:48Speaker 3: lot of local TV shows as an animal expert. Uh,
- 22:52Speaker 3: I had never heard of him, and I tried to
- 22:54Speaker 3: talk Mike out of having this guy on. I'm like,
- 22:57Speaker 3: this is going to be a boring zoo guy, and
- 23:01Speaker 3: no one's going to want to hear from this guy.
- 23:03Speaker 4: It's going to fall flat. And Mike was insistent. He's like,
- 23:08Speaker 4: I'm telling you, you are going to fall in love
- 23:11Speaker 4: with this guy. So Dan and Stu got certainly excited.
- 23:17Speaker 4: rose Ron McGill's profile to a level that was much
- 23:21Speaker 4: higher than it was, but he was well known in
- 23:23Speaker 4: South Florida. I think his profile grew nationally when you
- 23:29Speaker 4: guys started having him on the ESPN national show.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I think so.
- 23:33Speaker 5: And I'm thankful to Mike for kind of staying strident.
- 23:36Speaker 2: On Ron McGill. Like he was pushing you.
- 23:38Speaker 5: I remember that at Ron McGill is as beloved the
- 23:41Speaker 5: figure as that surrounds our show as anyone.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I mean, he really is.
- 23:45Speaker 5: The audience absolutely loved him. They still love him. He
- 23:49Speaker 5: didn't pass away. He was one of our great guests. And, yes,
- 23:53Speaker 5: he was doing Paul and Ron before he was doing
- 23:55Speaker 5: us on a weekly basis. He was doing some local TV,
- 23:58Speaker 5: and he was on Good Morning America. But certainly, and
- 24:01Speaker 5: I never heard of him, but when we went to ESPN,
- 24:04Speaker 5: and ESPN fought us on the segment. I've told you
- 24:07Speaker 5: the story before. They did not want Ron on a
- 24:09Speaker 5: weekly bit. We're on ESPN. We were supposed to be
- 24:12Speaker 5: talking sports, not animals, not supposed to have a zoo expert.
- 24:18Speaker 5: And they wanted us to do away with the segment.
- 24:20Speaker 5: And Dan and I said, we're not doing away with
- 24:21Speaker 5: this segment. We're going to do this segment. And then
- 24:24Speaker 5: two days later, he was on SportsCenter. Breaking down a rabbit,
- 24:29Speaker 5: hopping across a field.
- 24:32Speaker 8: Huck, I was introduced to the show when they were
- 24:36Speaker 8: already on ESPN. And I remember I was sitting in
- 24:38Speaker 8: a cube and they were like, Ron McGill coming up next.
- 24:41Speaker 8: And I grew up a Carolina fan and they had
- 24:43Speaker 8: a running back in the early 2000s named Ronnie McGill.
- 24:46Speaker 8: And I was like, why are they talking to this
- 24:48Speaker 8: random Carolina running back?
- 24:51Speaker 2: Strange career turn.
- 24:53Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden you're listening and you're like,
- 24:55Speaker 5: that armadillo can kill you.
- 24:57Speaker 2: What's going on here? Um, I would say Hawk, you
- 25:03Speaker 2: would agree.
- 25:03Speaker 5: He would be on the Mount Rushmore of like ancillary
- 25:07Speaker 5: regular parts of the show. Uh, but I would say
- 25:09Speaker 5: it's like him, Cody, Frank Caliendo, people like that.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:13Speaker 8: Wow.
- 25:13Speaker 2: That's a great Mount Rushmore.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I'm going to, I'm going to work on that for
- 25:16Speaker 3: the next.
- 25:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 3: The next episode, because that's really tough to do because
- 25:20Speaker 3: over the course of time, just the eight, nine years
- 25:24Speaker 3: that I was there. And then you guys had many
- 25:26Speaker 3: more years after me. Um, To do the Mount Rushmore
- 25:30Speaker 3: of regular Levitard show guests. I'm putting that down as
- 25:34Speaker 3: a no. I think Kirch and Gene could be in there.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Oh, Kirch and Mort. What about Mort?
- 25:39Speaker 5: Mort could be in there. Taylor said Kirch and Mean Gene.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I mean, they're so Alan Thicke. There are so many people, man.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It's Bob Saget. Crazy. Super Dave.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Oh, Super Dave.
- 25:53Speaker 2: He was so good.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Super Dave spoke to my mom on her birthday, man.
- 25:56Speaker 5: She was such a big fan. He actually called her.
- 25:58Speaker 5: They spoke for like 15 minutes.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Somebody DMS.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I love the pod with you and Stu would love
- 26:05Speaker 3: to hear your best Billy Gill stories. I don't really
- 26:09Speaker 3: have any Billy Gill was like, Around when I was there,
- 26:14Speaker 3: but I don't even think he may have been an
- 26:16Speaker 3: intern for a brief moment of time. Like I knew Billy,
- 26:19Speaker 3: but I never really worked with him. I'm friendly with
- 26:21Speaker 3: Billy now. Like I can text him, but I don't,
- 26:25Speaker 3: I don't have any Billy Gill stories because I really
- 26:27Speaker 3: didn't work with him.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I'll tell you what, we'll tease this for the audience.
- 26:31Speaker 5: I will come up with my top three Billy Gill
- 26:33Speaker 5: stories of all time, and we will do an entire
- 26:35Speaker 5: episode on him.
- 26:36Speaker 2: He deserves an entire episode.
- 26:38Speaker 5: He was a big part of my career, my life,
- 26:40Speaker 5: our show, and what made our show so special and unique.
- 26:43Speaker 5: And one that comes to mind is, you were not
- 26:46Speaker 5: there for this, is when Dan sent them out to
- 26:48Speaker 5: Marlins Park for opening day.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I remember that. I remember hearing that, right? That was
- 26:54Speaker 3: the first pitch ding-dong.
- 26:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Of the Jeter area moment.
- 26:59Speaker 5: It's a great, but there are several of them and
- 27:02Speaker 5: I will do, I'll do a top five.
- 27:03Speaker 1: How about that?
- 27:05Speaker 2: Somebody, uh, DMS us.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I mean, uh, loving the Stu gots and Hawk pod
- 27:11Speaker 3: as a current fat guy and former competitive swimmer. I'm
- 27:15Speaker 3: trying to get back in shape and I've started swimming
- 27:18Speaker 3: laps again. I listened to the pod in my waterproof
- 27:21Speaker 3: headphones while swimming and The longer episodes are just about
- 27:26Speaker 3: the perfect length for my workout. At the end of
- 27:29Speaker 3: the most recent ep, and this was a few episodes ago,
- 27:32Speaker 3: you said Stu had to get three Australian sports nicknames.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And I thought to myself, the torpedo is obvious. And
- 27:40Speaker 3: then realized that was decidedly too niche. When you actually
- 27:44Speaker 3: threw out the name and Stugatz got it right, I
- 27:48Speaker 3: nearly drowned from laughing. I also violently sneeze when I
- 27:53Speaker 3: swim laps.
- 27:58Speaker 5: It's a great direct message. I know, but a violent
- 28:00Speaker 5: sneeze while you're swimming. I mean, that's tough.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Speaking of violent sneezers, I'm wearing my I don't know
- 28:09Speaker 3: if they even because Taylor cuts down the video, but
- 28:11Speaker 3: I'm wearing my Sam Sneed, my God shirt. Love it,
- 28:15Speaker 3: which is available at horse muffins dot com.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I don't know if I can let the cat out
- 28:21Speaker 3: of the bag, but Stugatz may have some merch himself.
- 28:26Speaker 3: But I was bringing that up because I had a DM.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Hold on. Oh, hey, Hawk, still enjoying the show. And
- 28:38Speaker 2: I love the Lombardo episode.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I showed it to my lady friend and then the
- 28:43Speaker 3: website with the T-shirt. I can say I am now
- 28:46Speaker 3: a proud owner of a Sam Sneed, my God shirt. Yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 3: we were going to dinner and she asked if I
- 28:53Speaker 3: would wear it. And I did. She loves it. And
- 28:56Speaker 3: now we'll say Lombardo every now and then on another note.
- 29:01Speaker 3: When I started listening to the show, I would hear
- 29:04Speaker 3: Stugat saying, any well, and I started to incorporate it
- 29:08Speaker 3: into my vocabulary. The look on people's faces when I
- 29:12Speaker 3: say it is pure confusion. They'll ask if I knew
- 29:16Speaker 3: what I said, and I would say yes, but then
- 29:18Speaker 3: I don't explain where it came from.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Did you say any well on the radio all the time?
- 29:23Speaker 5: Well, I was trying to say anyway once, and it
- 29:25Speaker 5: turned out it came out any well.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 29:29Speaker 8: I think any well became a staple during the sports whisper,
- 29:32Speaker 8: like when he was trying to transition thought to thought,
- 29:35Speaker 8: he would just go any well.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Yes, which is another episode. I'm glad we're talking these out.
- 29:39Speaker 5: So we have a top five Billy moment episode we
- 29:41Speaker 5: need to do. We have a Mount Rushmore of ancillary
- 29:45Speaker 5: figures on the show. We have to introduce Octaler to
- 29:49Speaker 5: the Sports Whisperer because I'm pretty certain he was not
- 29:52Speaker 5: around for that.
- 29:53Speaker 8: Hawk, the guy who calls his partner his lady friend,
- 29:57Speaker 8: douche or no douche?
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah, douche.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Because I hesitate even to read it that way. But
- 30:02Speaker 3: my lady friend. Like, what are we doing here?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Guy friend.
- 30:07Speaker 6: Lady.
- 30:08Speaker 14: Right.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Like, yeah. Like, what are we doing here? Let's not
- 30:14Speaker 2: criticize him. We love you.
- 30:16Speaker 9: Right.
- 30:16Speaker 3: No, I am actually going to start introducing my wife
- 30:19Speaker 3: as my lady friend. I just want to see her reaction.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I'd like to know how long it takes him to swim.
- 30:25Speaker 3: A program or all our episodes.
- 30:27Speaker 5: To the length of his swim.
- 30:35Speaker 2: My lady friend.
- 30:37Speaker 3: I want to get back to that DM in a
- 30:39Speaker 3: second because he had a request, but there's another DM.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Speaking of the shirt, so that guy bought a Sam
- 30:42Speaker 3: Snead shirt. My son has the shirt store, and I
- 30:45Speaker 3: would appreciate anyone who enjoys this podcast buying a shirt
- 30:49Speaker 3: at horsemuffins.com. Somebody DMS, because again, Stu gots may have
- 30:53Speaker 3: some merch coming up.
- 30:54Speaker 2: I don't want to let the cat out of the bag.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Cats used to be currency. If you used to listen
- 30:58Speaker 2: to this show, but.
- 31:00Speaker 3: I don't want to let the cat out of the bag,
- 31:01Speaker 3: but first and foremost, this guy writes, thank you for
- 31:05Speaker 3: all the podcasts. And for you and Stu gots reliving
- 31:07Speaker 3: the old DLS memories living in Nebraska. I only started
- 31:11Speaker 3: listening about eight years ago and I missed all the
- 31:13Speaker 3: old content. This shit is so funny and it reminds
- 31:16Speaker 3: me that laughing out loud is necessary for your soul.
- 31:21Speaker 3: I even have a few pods saved that I can
- 31:23Speaker 3: listen to once a month and still cry laughing, which
- 31:27Speaker 3: brings me to the point of this.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I'm eagerly awaiting.
- 31:30Speaker 3: My Sam Snead, my God t-shirt and was relistening to
- 31:35Speaker 3: the big man on campus lacrosse episode. And you thought
- 31:38Speaker 3: and thought, you know, what would be a great shirt
- 31:42Speaker 3: or clock that That's a guy who gets the show.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 31:45Speaker 4: How about a BMOC lacrosse shirt?
- 31:48Speaker 3: It could be like a brand, the exclusive gear of
- 31:53Speaker 3: Clark Kellogg University lacrosse team. It could have Stugatz in
- 31:57Speaker 3: a goalie helmet with a goalie stick with no strings.
- 32:01Speaker 3: And then he writes, me thinks 0 and 11. He
- 32:05Speaker 3: wasn't stopping much. By the way, Taylor, what do you
- 32:07Speaker 3: think of the person who says me thinks instead of
- 32:10Speaker 3: I think?
- 32:11Speaker 8: It sounds like shivers down my body. That's how uncomfortable
- 32:14Speaker 8: it makes me.
- 32:18Speaker 5: So DM podcast listener, me thinks Taylor doesn't like you
- 32:22Speaker 5: using me thinks in your.
- 32:24Speaker 2: He thinks that's a good idea for a t-shirt though.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I gotta be honest.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:29Speaker 2: He says it could just.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Have a couple of sticks and a quote magic did
- 32:35Speaker 5: it for a game.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I did it for an entire season. Okay. Yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 5: That's a great shirt yes uh hawk keeps hinting about
- 32:48Speaker 5: a merch store for me uh the idea was so
- 32:50Speaker 5: good by mark and his son to do this uh
- 32:53Speaker 5: that i decided to get rachel uh to do the
- 32:56Speaker 5: same so i connected rachel with dj uh i'm certain
- 32:58Speaker 5: she hasn't reached out to him yet but she's getting
- 33:04Speaker 5: to it okay she's getting to.
- 33:06Speaker 3: It i told uh dj i go hey listen stu
- 33:09Speaker 3: got's daughter He's going to call you, teach her how
- 33:12Speaker 3: to set up a merch store for him and her.
- 33:15Speaker 3: And I said, and by the way, she's your age.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I was trying to let him know, hey, this chick's
- 33:19Speaker 3: got some money. So I always say the biggest mistake
- 33:25Speaker 3: I ever made was not marrying into money. No, DJ,
- 33:27Speaker 3: don't make the same mistake. Run some Hockman game on
- 33:30Speaker 3: her and let's go. Make her your lady friend.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Methinks you might have a chance, DJ. What a wedding
- 33:44Speaker 2: that would be. Can you imagine? Taylor's at the wedding.
- 33:51Speaker 2: You and I are giving speeches.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Methinks back to the time when they first met and
- 33:59Speaker 4: DJ was looking for a lady friend and Taylor just
- 34:02Speaker 4: walking out of the wedding.
- 34:03Speaker 2: He's so bored.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so bored.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Anyway, back to the original email.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Where he says, I showed the same sneed shirt to
- 34:17Speaker 3: my lady friend. He compliments the shirts. And then he says,
- 34:22Speaker 3: was there a big open with people hanging up on
- 34:25Speaker 3: the show? I'd love to hear that. Also, any chance
- 34:27Speaker 3: the sports comic will make an appearance on the pod?
- 34:30Speaker 2: He has.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I'm assuming this guy and his lady friend have caught
- 34:35Speaker 3: up to the episodes, but we did do a sports
- 34:37Speaker 3: comic pod. But he says, was there a big open
- 34:39Speaker 3: with people hanging up on the show? I could not
- 34:42Speaker 3: find a big open with people hanging up on the show,
- 34:45Speaker 3: but I did find a rejoin of people hanging up
- 34:48Speaker 3: on the show.
- 34:49Speaker 2: This is what I found.
- 34:51Speaker 11: People get annoyed and hang up on the show here.
- 34:55Speaker 11: Olympic hero Michael Phelps.
- 34:57Speaker 13: Do you go into the nightclub with these Kellogg's products
- 35:00Speaker 13: and just drop them on the floor with your face
- 35:01Speaker 13: on them?
- 35:02Speaker 15: Sorry, I think we have to head to the next interview. Sorry,
- 35:06Speaker 15: thank you very much for your time.
- 35:07Speaker 2: All right, Michael, good talking to you.
- 35:10Speaker 15: Yo, that was ridiculous.
- 35:15Speaker 11: New england patriot wes welker uh the chargers broncos game
- 35:19Speaker 11: this past weekend a lot of people talking about it
- 35:21Speaker 11: how do you think.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I'm kind of running out of time here i gotta get.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Going wes this is unbelievable thank you take care bye.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Espn analyst jay billis all due.
- 35:31Speaker 5: Respect to me if you guys want to talk about
- 35:33Speaker 5: this i'm here to talk about whatever you want outside
- 35:36Speaker 5: of this.
- 35:37Speaker 2: We don't have to talk about anything but it's not
- 35:39Speaker 2: stupid and you can't start sending you want to Talk
- 35:41Speaker 2: about something else? No, thank you. Jay Billis of ESPN.
- 35:46Speaker 1: People hang up.
- 35:49Speaker 11: On Dan Levitard and Stu Gatz on Sports Talk 790,
- 35:53Speaker 11: The Ticket.
- 35:56Speaker 2: There's a couple things there that are interesting.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I was always taught in radio, and I'm sure people
- 36:01Speaker 3: still teach it nowadays, rejoins need to be two seconds long,
- 36:05Speaker 3: five seconds long. I used to make rejoins that were
- 36:08Speaker 3: a minute and a half long because I thought it
- 36:10Speaker 3: painted a great picture for the show as part of
- 36:12Speaker 3: the thing where Dan did the opposite of everything on
- 36:14Speaker 3: the air. Production-wise and imaging-wise, I did the opposite of
- 36:18Speaker 3: everything anyone had been told. It turned out to be
- 36:20Speaker 3: the most successful show in Miami sports radio history, but
- 36:24Speaker 3: I think part of it was because we broke rules
- 36:26Speaker 3: like that.
- 36:28Speaker 5: I think the imaging was a very big part of it.
- 36:30Speaker 5: And you broke all the rules of radio because you're right.
- 36:33Speaker 5: You and I growing up, we were taught, get it
- 36:35Speaker 5: back to the host as quickly as possible. And in
- 36:37Speaker 5: your mind, it was like, hey, these are my guys.
- 36:40Speaker 5: This is a funny moment for the show. I'm not
- 36:42Speaker 5: going to edit it. I'm going to play it in full.
- 36:44Speaker 5: The audience is going to enjoy it.
- 36:45Speaker 2: And they did.
- 36:46Speaker 4: And it sets the tone like it's just part of
- 36:51Speaker 4: the fun of the show.
- 36:52Speaker 5: And I can't tell you how many times you would
- 36:54Speaker 5: play a rejoin. And Dan and I would almost do
- 36:56Speaker 5: that segment over again.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:58Speaker 5: I mean, you know that it's and it's important why
- 37:00Speaker 5: you put it there. It gave us it gave us
- 37:02Speaker 5: an option in case we wanted to go to it.
- 37:04Speaker 2: You know, here is.
- 37:06Speaker 3: It's not a big open of everyone hanging up on
- 37:08Speaker 3: the show. But I did find a big open for
- 37:10Speaker 3: Joan Rivers when she hung up on the show. We
- 37:12Speaker 3: turned it into a big open.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Attention. This is the Dan Levitard Show.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Joan Rivers, a comedy legend.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Dan Levitard.
- 37:22Speaker 7: What's his name?
- 37:23Speaker 1: Stu Gatz.
- 37:24Speaker 7: Who the hell is he?
- 37:26Speaker 1: Attention.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Among the things that Doyle Brunson writes of Joan Rivers,
- 37:31Speaker 2: if you gave Joan Rivers a penny for intelligence, you
- 37:34Speaker 2: would get a refund.
- 37:35Speaker 7: Don't start with me with this stupidity.
- 37:37Speaker 1: This is the real base.
- 37:40Speaker 2: But what it's worth, Dan's sweating right now.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Attention.
- 37:42Speaker 9: You know, guys, I'm going to hang up now because
- 37:44Speaker 9: I thought we were going to have a nice talk.
- 37:47Speaker 7: Who cares?
- 37:49Speaker 1: Attention.
- 37:50Speaker 2: You were on, you know, that Trump show, and you
- 37:53Speaker 2: went after poker players.
- 37:54Speaker 9: I won the Trump show from a woman who is
- 37:58Speaker 9: a piece of garbage. She happened to be a poker player.
- 38:02Speaker 7: Who cares?
- 38:03Speaker 2: Well, you called her Hitler.
- 38:04Speaker 7: Yeah, that to me is what you say when you
- 38:07Speaker 7: don't like somebody.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Well, that's very strong, though, Joan.
- 38:09Speaker 9: You know, guys, I'm going to hang up now, because
- 38:12Speaker 9: are you Jewish?
- 38:13Speaker 11: I am not.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Then shut up.
- 38:14Speaker 7: Then you don't know what you're talking about. Can we
- 38:18Speaker 7: get any clearer?
- 38:19Speaker 1: No.
- 38:19Speaker 7: Then shut up. You don't know what you're talking about.
- 38:23Speaker 2: It's very strong. It's all I'm saying.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Goodbye.
- 38:29Speaker 10: I'm an interesting combination of mortified and delighted right now.
- 38:33Speaker 2: It's like, oh, my God, this is horrible. Also, it's wonderful.
- 38:36Speaker 2: That's kind of rude of her to hang up. I mean,
- 38:39Speaker 2: you didn't say anything. No, but she warned me.
- 38:40Speaker 1: She warned me.
- 38:41Speaker 2: She did warn me. And I should have backtracked at
- 38:43Speaker 2: that point. That was male ego, prideful male ego. That
- 38:46Speaker 2: was like one of the last word.
- 38:47Speaker 7: You don't know what you're talking about.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Can we get any clearer?
- 38:52Speaker 6: No.
- 38:52Speaker 7: And shut up. You don't know what you're talking about.
- 38:55Speaker 2: It's very strong, is all I'm saying.
- 38:57Speaker 8: Goodbye.
- 38:59Speaker 13: I did not think she was legitimately upset. I thought
- 39:01Speaker 13: it was part of her act. You know how Don
- 39:03Speaker 13: Rickles insults people?
- 39:04Speaker 1: Hi, this is Don Rickles.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Listen to Dan Levitard if you're that lonely.
- 39:08Speaker 7: I never listen.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But hey, do me a favor.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Can we call her back?
- 39:11Speaker 9: Go away and leave me alone and get off trying
- 39:14Speaker 9: to get famous on my back.
- 39:16Speaker 11: Here's Dan Levitard and Stu Gatz on Sports Talk 790.
- 39:19Speaker 1: They take it.
- 39:22Speaker 7: Go away.
- 39:25Speaker 1: There'll be one more.
- 39:27Speaker 2: That is a masterpiece of audio.
- 39:31Speaker 3: You forget that, you know, talk about breaking all the
- 39:34Speaker 3: radio rules, you know, with rejoins that were a minute
- 39:36Speaker 3: and a half. Like you forget you're listening to an
- 39:38Speaker 3: open for the show. Like you just all of a
- 39:40Speaker 3: sudden you just think you're listening to the show. I mean,
- 39:41Speaker 3: that's just the opening for a show.
- 39:44Speaker 4: And you might have heard that every day for two
- 39:46Speaker 4: weeks in a row if I was in the mood
- 39:48Speaker 4: to do that.
- 39:49Speaker 2: I miss now. I don't know if you would put
- 39:51Speaker 2: that in there, if you would enhance it at all.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I have no idea. But the hanging up of a
- 39:55Speaker 2: hard line.
- 39:56Speaker 5: It's just something that sound is something I miss dearly
- 40:00Speaker 5: because you don't get it anymore.
- 40:01Speaker 2: You just hang up your cell phone, you know. So
- 40:03Speaker 2: I would.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Definitely juice it a little bit for the production element.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Can you go back and play the rejoin real quick?
- 40:12Speaker 3: We'll just play the first hang up. I think it's
- 40:14Speaker 3: Michael Phelps who hangs up first on the first rejoin.
- 40:17Speaker 2: The people hang up.
- 40:18Speaker 11: People get annoyed and hang up on the show here.
- 40:22Speaker 11: Olympic hero Michael Phelps.
- 40:24Speaker 13: Do you go into the nightclub with these Kellogg's products
- 40:26Speaker 13: and just drop them on the floor with your face
- 40:28Speaker 13: on them?
- 40:29Speaker 15: Sorry, I think we have to head to the next interview. Sorry,
- 40:33Speaker 15: thank you very much for your time.
- 40:34Speaker 2: All right, Michael, good talking to you.
- 40:38Speaker 15: That was ridiculous.
- 40:42Speaker 1: New England.
- 40:44Speaker 4: The reason I play that, that boop, boop, boop, that
- 40:47Speaker 4: doesn't come on till like a phone is off the
- 40:49Speaker 4: hook for about 45 seconds, but it was a great
- 40:52Speaker 4: way to punctuate hangups. I had that sound ready in
- 40:56Speaker 4: hotkeys for when people did hang up.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I would literally fire off that sound.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Live on the air sometimes, not even just in post-production work,
- 41:05Speaker 3: but I'd have it ready. And also the other element
- 41:07Speaker 3: was we could always go to an empty line.
- 41:10Speaker 2: To get a dial tone.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And to get a dial tone was always like, that's
- 41:14Speaker 3: always a good laugh element.
- 41:16Speaker 5: So with Phelps, we could do a whole, geez, a
- 41:18Speaker 5: whole episode on that Michael Phelps interview. The reason you kept,
- 41:22Speaker 5: like Michael Phelps didn't realize, he was connected via ISDN,
- 41:25Speaker 5: I think, and it was such a big get, and
- 41:27Speaker 5: we blew that interview inside of five minutes, man. And
- 41:30Speaker 5: I was so disappointed because we wanted Phelps to be good.
- 41:32Speaker 5: We wanted him on the show. But the reason he
- 41:35Speaker 5: didn't realize that we could still hear him as he
- 41:38Speaker 5: was ripping Dan after he thought he had disconnected from Dan.
- 41:42Speaker 2: It was so good. Those guys are a joke.
- 41:46Speaker 5: By the way, by the way, Jay Billis is one
- 41:49Speaker 5: of my closest friends in media.
- 41:52Speaker 4: It was one of the and by the way. He
- 41:55Speaker 4: was not wrong. No, it was the night of the
- 41:58Speaker 4: NCAA championship.
- 42:00Speaker 9: Yes.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Dan had brought him on ostensibly to talk about the matchup.
- 42:05Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden he wanted to go
- 42:07Speaker 3: into this Dan world of asking about things, which really,
- 42:13Speaker 3: I mean, if you really want to backtrack on the
- 42:15Speaker 3: Tim Hardaway stuff. That Tim Hardaway question where he said,
- 42:19Speaker 3: I don't care for gay people or I hate gay
- 42:21Speaker 3: people like it.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Was the end of the interview.
- 42:25Speaker 3: It was like a throwaway question from Dan that probably
- 42:28Speaker 3: didn't necessarily belong in that interview.
- 42:31Speaker 2: And Dan just went for it.
- 42:34Speaker 3: The Jay Billis thing was kind of that like Jay Billis.
- 42:38Speaker 3: He's busy the night of an NCAA championship. So he's
- 42:42Speaker 3: making time for Dan, and then Dan's going to come
- 42:44Speaker 3: out of left field with stuff that he doesn't want
- 42:46Speaker 3: to talk about.
- 42:47Speaker 5: I remember exactly what it is Dan asked him that
- 42:49Speaker 5: set Jay off. We were discussing whether or not, and
- 42:51Speaker 5: Taylor will appreciate this, as someone who went to North
- 42:54Speaker 5: Carolina and loves the person I'm about to say, I'm
- 42:56Speaker 5: about to mention here. We were discussing if Tyler Hansborough
- 43:00Speaker 5: were black, if he would go higher in the draft.
- 43:04Speaker 2: And that was the question.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Then Michael Beasley.
- 43:07Speaker 7: Right.
- 43:08Speaker 5: If he would go higher than Mike, because Psycho T
- 43:10Speaker 5: was like the best player in college basketball. And yet
- 43:15Speaker 5: nobody wanted him. And so we asked Billis that and
- 43:18Speaker 5: that set Billis off, you know?
- 43:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Which understandably would.
- 43:22Speaker 3: He's probably, I mean, scheduled by the minute on stuff
- 43:27Speaker 3: he has to do leading up to that game. It's
- 43:29Speaker 3: funny because Dan loves that line of questioning. And I'm
- 43:32Speaker 3: still on a text thread with Dan. Dan hasn't spoken
- 43:35Speaker 3: to me in years. But there's a text thread with me,
- 43:39Speaker 3: Fake Howard, a friend of ours, Gary from Los Angeles,
- 43:45Speaker 3: Jim Frivola from Bournemouth, and me and Dan. And Dan
- 43:51Speaker 3: doesn't respond to it, but I know he still reads.
- 43:55Speaker 2: The thread.
- 43:55Speaker 3: The thread's been going on for over a decade. And
- 43:59Speaker 3: I put on there the other day, because I saw
- 44:01Speaker 3: a headline. It must have been awful announcing or something.
- 44:03Speaker 4: And it was like, Dan Levitard suggests.
- 44:07Speaker 3: More white people get NFL analyst jobs, that more former
- 44:12Speaker 3: white players get NFL analyst jobs than black former NFL
- 44:17Speaker 3: players because they're white or something like that. And so
- 44:21Speaker 3: I sent that link on our thread and I just wrote,
- 44:25Speaker 3: sometimes you got to give the audience what it wants.
- 44:28Speaker 3: You got to play the hits. I got no response
- 44:31Speaker 3: from Dan, but it was up there. I'm sure he
- 44:36Speaker 3: MF'd you to everyone else in that group. Well, that's
- 44:40Speaker 3: what he does. I've heard from other people on the
- 44:43Speaker 3: thread that sometimes he'll motherfuck me on a private text
- 44:49Speaker 3: rather than on the thread itself. Here's one more big open.
- 44:54Speaker 3: The guy wanted big opens of people hanging up. I
- 44:56Speaker 3: couldn't find that, but here's a big open of MC
- 44:59Speaker 3: Hammer and his appearance on the show.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Attention. This is the Dan Lebitard Show.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Stugatz, this guy was at the top of the music game.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Dan Lebitard. Hammer.
- 45:12Speaker 7: You are a genius.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Attention. Stugatz.
- 45:17Speaker 2: MC Hammer is a man who is relentlessly positive, and
- 45:20Speaker 2: we have sucked the positivity right out of MC Hammer.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I asked him one softball question.
- 45:24Speaker 7: I mean, geez.
- 45:25Speaker 1: This is the real bass.
- 45:27Speaker 7: I'm confused.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Attention.
- 45:30Speaker 14: I'm a very busy businessman, so to take time to
- 45:34Speaker 14: reflect on the same thing going on again.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Attention. That is uncomfortable.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Hammer, your most famous time was 20 years ago. So naturally,
- 45:45Speaker 5: when people have you on the radio, they're going to
- 45:48Speaker 5: want to talk about 20 years ago.
- 45:50Speaker 2: You get that, right? Like you get that, right?
- 45:54Speaker 5: I'm just wondering if you get that because you're being
- 45:56Speaker 5: rude on our radio show. And I'm just wondering if
- 46:00Speaker 5: you get that. You were infinitely more famous two decades
- 46:03Speaker 5: ago than you are today. And that's what people want
- 46:05Speaker 5: to hear about.
- 46:07Speaker 1: You are a genius.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Yes, I am. And you're not.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Oh, no. Bass is pumping. Hammer.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Whatever we ask you, it's met with resistance on your end.
- 46:16Speaker 5: We're asking questions that are natural questions to ask.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I didn't even ask about the Addams Family rap. I
- 46:22Speaker 2: didn't even ask about that.
- 46:24Speaker 7: I'm confused.
- 46:26Speaker 2: I'm sorry if we've wasted your time. You can have
- 46:28Speaker 2: the floor is yours. The floor is yours, Hammer. What
- 46:32Speaker 2: would you like to talk about?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 46:33Speaker 5: I got three Grammys, eight People's Choice Awards, 30 gold
- 46:37Speaker 5: records in 30 different countries, 50 million sales, 8 million
- 46:41Speaker 5: world tours.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Nah, not too many regrets.
- 46:43Speaker 11: Hammer!
- 46:43Speaker 7: So far, we have a conversation, but you haven't talked
- 46:46Speaker 7: about anything relevant to today.
- 46:48Speaker 14: You keep asking yourself about 20 years ago.
- 46:51Speaker 2: MC Hammer, thank you for being on with us. We
- 46:53Speaker 2: appreciate you stopping by. Sorry that we wasted your time.
- 46:55Speaker 1: My pleasure.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Thanks, Tim.
- 46:59Speaker 1: My pleasure. You get that, right? You saying at the farewell, thanks, Stanley.
- 47:13Speaker 5: Because his name is Stanley Burrell, is low-key funny as shit.
- 47:19Speaker 5: So what we started to do at the end of interviews,
- 47:23Speaker 5: if the guy came on and was using his normal name,
- 47:25Speaker 5: I would thank him as his nickname towards the end.
- 47:29Speaker 2: So with MC Hammer, that was his nickname, and I
- 47:32Speaker 2: thanked him by his real name.
- 47:33Speaker 1: At the end.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Thanks, Stanley. So I remember.
- 47:36Speaker 3: when that took place, I was actually in Chicago at
- 47:39Speaker 3: my dad's funeral to bring it back to the beginning
- 47:42Speaker 3: of today's episode.
- 47:43Speaker 2: I was in Chicago. I was sad.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Obviously my dad had passed away, but I was sad
- 47:50Speaker 3: that I missed the MC hammer interview because I loved
- 47:53Speaker 3: MC hammer. And I remember calling we're sitting Shiva for
- 47:58Speaker 3: my dad. And I remember calling Mike and saying, Hey,
- 48:02Speaker 3: how'd it go?
- 48:04Speaker 4: And him going, not great and me being like what
- 48:08Speaker 4: what do you mean he's like it was bad and
- 48:11Speaker 4: he hung up on us and stugatz was yelling at
- 48:14Speaker 4: him and uh i just remember that being such a
- 48:17Speaker 4: crazy time in my life i'm like why would you
- 48:20Speaker 4: guys fuck up a relationship with with mc hammer and
- 48:24Speaker 4: i couldn't be there to straighten things out because of
- 48:26Speaker 4: my dad's.
- 48:27Speaker 5: Funeral yeah i'm glad your dad finally got to sleep
- 48:30Speaker 5: i mean.
- 48:37Speaker 2: My mother was so angry.
- 48:40Speaker 5: If I could explain something, you'll agree with.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Me on this.
- 48:47Speaker 5: When a guest comes on who's kind of past his
- 48:49Speaker 5: prime because he's selling something because you're interested in what
- 48:53Speaker 5: he was doing during his prime, right?
- 48:56Speaker 2: There's a give and take to those conversations. We'll promote
- 48:59Speaker 2: whatever it is you're doing now in.
- 49:02Speaker 5: Exchange for you answering questions about what you were doing
- 49:05Speaker 5: two decades ago.
- 49:06Speaker 2: And he wouldn't do it.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Yep. Yep.
- 49:10Speaker 3: So I yelled, like, you have to, you have to acknowledge,
- 49:13Speaker 3: you know, it's like Jimmy Walker for years. And we
- 49:16Speaker 3: could do an episode on Jimmy Walker, the number of
- 49:19Speaker 3: appearances he did on our show and what a disaster
- 49:21Speaker 3: it was. But Jimmy Walker for years did not want
- 49:24Speaker 3: to talk about being JJ on good times.
- 49:26Speaker 9: Right.
- 49:26Speaker 3: But then he realized as he got older, well, wait
- 49:30Speaker 3: a second. Everybody is still enamored with that character. So
- 49:34Speaker 3: I have to I have to give deference to that character.
- 49:39Speaker 3: And then I can talk about what I'm doing now.
- 49:42Speaker 4: I can go down the list of guests that we
- 49:43Speaker 4: had over the decade that I was there.
- 49:45Speaker 3: I remember Suzanne Somers coming on one. She wanted to
- 49:48Speaker 3: promote some health line. But you have to talk to
- 49:51Speaker 3: her about the Thighmaster and Three's company.
- 49:53Speaker 2: It is. It's part of the give and take.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 49:55Speaker 2: It's the reason we want you on.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Right. Right.
- 50:00Speaker 2: It's very simple.
- 50:03Speaker 5: You can't come on and not talk about the thing
- 50:06Speaker 5: that we want to have you on for.
- 50:08Speaker 2: We'll talk about what you want to talk about. You
- 50:09Speaker 2: talk about what we want to talk about.
- 50:11Speaker 3: That's a Kyle Turley. I know you want to talk
- 50:14Speaker 3: about medical marijuana. I want to talk about some of
- 50:17Speaker 3: the saints games.
- 50:18Speaker 4: All right.
- 50:19Speaker 2: It's a give and take.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Right.
- 50:22Speaker 5: Suzanne Summers, me and you, we'll talk about your exercise equipment.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I want to talk three's company. I mean, that's what
- 50:28Speaker 2: I'm talking about.
- 50:30Speaker 3: That happened with some other guests too. I'm going to
- 50:32Speaker 3: have to go back and look in the archives. I'm
- 50:34Speaker 3: sure people DM us with, uh, With people that that
- 50:37Speaker 3: happened with who didn't want to talk about what we
- 50:40Speaker 3: really wanted to talk about. And again, it doesn't mean
- 50:42Speaker 3: that we have talked about it the entirety of the interview,
- 50:45Speaker 3: but you've got to give us some like that's.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Why you're on the show. Yes.
- 50:51Speaker 3: If you want to hear something on this podcast, DM
- 50:53Speaker 3: me Radio Mark Hockman on Instagram. If you want to
- 50:57Speaker 3: support my son's side hustle as he's graduated from college,
- 51:02Speaker 3: and it's a way to support this podcast as well,
- 51:04Speaker 3: because we get a kick out of it. I, again,
- 51:06Speaker 3: I'm wearing my Sam Sneed, my God shirt. If you'd
- 51:09Speaker 3: like a shirt from this podcast, there's several different, uh,
- 51:14Speaker 3: there's I'm a violent sneezer shirts.
- 51:16Speaker 2: There's an, I mean, shirt. There's a plenty of stuff.
- 51:20Speaker 3: It's all up there at horse muffins.com horse muffins.com is
- 51:25Speaker 3: the website.
- 51:25Speaker 2: And the shirts are, very, very well-priced. It's not just
- 51:31Speaker 2: out of control. I'm going to rip you off.
- 51:38Speaker 1: I'm teasing.
- 51:39Speaker 5: Whatever you price them at, I'll price them at. We
- 51:41Speaker 5: specifically chose high-quality shirts and hoodies, and we specifically priced
- 51:47Speaker 5: them lower than the website suggests so that it wasn't
- 51:50Speaker 5: just a rip-off.
- 51:54Speaker 3: I'll give you three athlete nicknames. In order to end
- 52:00Speaker 3: today's episode.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Okay. Anthony McFarland.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Booger.
- 52:07Speaker 2: All right. We just had Booger on. I know. So
- 52:11Speaker 2: I started there.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 52:15Speaker 2: The Big Fundamental. Oh, wait. I just gave you the nickname.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I was supposed to give you the athlete's.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Name, right? Yes.
- 52:26Speaker 2: So again, if Tim Duncan came on our show, he
- 52:28Speaker 2: never did.
- 52:29Speaker 5: I would have, on the way out, I would have
- 52:31Speaker 5: said that's big fundamental.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Do you know Gawain Wells?
- 52:41Speaker 1: Gawain Wells.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Wellsy? One in doubt, Giordano, why? Do you know Taylor?
- 52:54Speaker 8: My guess is somebody who doesn't go by that first name,
- 52:57Speaker 8: so I would go Bonzi Wells.
- 52:58Speaker 2: It is Bonzi Wells. Bonzi Wells. What was his first name? Gawen. G-A-W-E-N.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Wow.
- 53:07Speaker 5: That was a great... I mean, what a great guess.
- 53:09Speaker 5: Does that count for me? Is that really a guess, Taylor,
- 53:11Speaker 5: or did you look it up?
- 53:13Speaker 2: No, I've never heard of.
- 53:14Speaker 8: A Gawen Wells, but I've heard of Bonzi Wells.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yeah, no.
- 53:17Speaker 3: I mean, it's good deductive reasoning, yeah. Oh, could have
- 53:21Speaker 3: been Vernon Wells. Great call.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Or David Wells, I mean.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Now we have to start over. You have to get
- 53:27Speaker 3: three in a row before the podcast ends.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Okay. Adam Dunn.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Wow.
- 53:37Speaker 5: I should know this. Man, I'm going to be so upset.
- 53:41Speaker 5: This is going to stay with me for a while.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Taylor, you know?
- 53:48Speaker 8: No, I keep getting him confused with Sean Casey.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Do you know who Adam Dunn is? Yeah. In that case,
- 53:54Speaker 2: he's the mayor.
- 53:55Speaker 7: Yes.
- 53:57Speaker 2: I don't know, Hawk. I know he hit a lot
- 53:59Speaker 2: of home runs, and I don't know. I do not
- 54:01Speaker 2: know Adam Dunn's nickname. Big Donkey.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I knew it. I like how angry you get. Damn it.
- 54:11Speaker 2: I'm so upset.
- 54:13Speaker 3: I will tell you, usually I just search best athlete
- 54:16Speaker 3: nicknames or whatever. This time I happened to search worst
- 54:19Speaker 3: athlete nicknames, and that's why this is tougher.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:23Speaker 2: All right, let's try.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Keep going.
- 54:25Speaker 2: All right, got to get three. Covelli Crisp. Coco.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Very good. Very good.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Did you know that, or is that just deductive reasoning?
- 54:34Speaker 2: I knew that, actually. How about Joe Jackson? Shoeless.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Very good.
- 54:41Speaker 2: These are the tough ones? And, I mean, I could
- 54:47Speaker 2: stump you with a bunch of these.
- 54:48Speaker 4: You could do it every time if you wanted to.
- 54:52Speaker 2: I know.
- 54:52Speaker 4: We have to end this podcast at some point, but
- 54:54Speaker 4: I don't want to make it.
- 54:55Speaker 5: Listen, I can't remember the pitcher that grooved one into
- 54:58Speaker 5: Cal Ripken during the All-Star game, but just give me
- 55:00Speaker 5: one of those.
- 55:02Speaker 2: How about this one's interesting. I don't know if you'll
- 55:04Speaker 2: get this or not. Boris Becker.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Oh, man. Oh, man.
- 55:16Speaker 2: I love tennis. I love Becker. And now I'm going
- 55:23Speaker 2: to have to start over again.
- 55:25Speaker 4: I'm going to let you continue. I'm going to let
- 55:27Speaker 4: you keep your two.
- 55:28Speaker 2: No, I should know this. I'm very upset here. Do
- 55:31Speaker 2: you know Taylor?
- 55:32Speaker 8: I don't know who Boris Becker is.
- 55:39Speaker 5: He was just brought up on the radio show by
- 55:41Speaker 5: Patrick McEnroe.
- 55:43Speaker 2: We were talking about Federer.
- 55:45Speaker 1: I wasn't listening.
- 55:46Speaker 4: He shares a nickname.
- 55:49Speaker 2: He shares a nickname with one of the sweat hogs. Oh,
- 55:57Speaker 2: my God. That's a good hint. Oh, man. This is
- 56:02Speaker 2: going to drive me all day, Hawks. It's going to
- 56:03Speaker 2: drive me crazy. Because there were only four sweat hogs
- 56:06Speaker 2: on Welcome Back, Otter. Oh, I got it.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Wait.
- 56:12Speaker 2: So there was who were the sweat hogs? Don't say
- 56:15Speaker 2: the one that.
- 56:17Speaker 7: Right.
- 56:17Speaker 2: You had Travolta, which was any Bob Arino.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Vinny Epstein.
- 56:24Speaker 2: And there was one.
- 56:25Speaker 1: It was, of course. Yes.
- 56:26Speaker 2: And of course, boom, boom.
- 56:28Speaker 7: Yes.
- 56:29Speaker 8: Boom, boom.
- 56:30Speaker 2: It was Boris Becker's nickname.
- 56:32Speaker 5: I would not have gotten it if you didn't give
- 56:34Speaker 5: me that exact hint, by the way.
- 56:36Speaker 2: It was a very good hint.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Sometimes we just have to end a podcast by all
- 56:39Speaker 4: means necessary.
- 56:40Speaker 2: All right. Oh, I was looking it up.
- 56:45Speaker 5: I mean, you saved me with a sweat on.
- 56:51Speaker 4: Go buy a shirt at horsemuffins.com and DM me at
- 56:55Speaker 4: Radio Mark Hockman if you want to hear something on
- 56:56Speaker 4: this podcast.
- 56:57Speaker 3: We love you all dearly. I mean, and we don't
- 57:00Speaker 3: love you all dearly. I don't know why I said that.
- 57:01Speaker 3: That's a weird thing to say.
- 57:02Speaker 5: Especially the guy that says, my girl, my lady friend.
- 57:09Speaker 2: We love our lady friends dearly.
- 57:14Speaker 1: With Stu Gatz and Hockman.
