Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm
- 0:02Speaker 1: Megan and I had the chance to speak to Alvina
- 0:05Speaker 1: August and Nathan Witt about their movie Falling Into Place,
- 0:08Speaker 1: which airs on the Hallmark Channel this Saturday, September 12th.
- 0:11Speaker 1: We hope you enjoy this short chat with them and
- 0:14Speaker 1: tune in to the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, September 12th
- 0:18Speaker 1: for Falling Into Place, part of the Fall Into Love lineup.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Hi, Alvina.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Hi, Nathan. I'm Megan from Girls Gone Hallmark. Thank you
- 0:36Speaker 1: so much for your time. As viewers, we are so
- 0:41Speaker 1: drawn to chemistry between actors on screen. And in this movie,
- 0:45Speaker 1: you have the added challenge of having best friend chemistry
- 0:50Speaker 1: that transitions into a little something more. And I'm so curious,
- 0:53Speaker 1: is there something that you do to cultivate that connection
- 0:56Speaker 1: on set before filming starts, throughout filming, so that that
- 1:00Speaker 1: comes through?
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yeah, for me, I just continually to ask my co-star
- 1:04Speaker 3: questions and questions until they're annoyed at me.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 3: And, and, and I, I, when I really love you,
- 1:12Speaker 3: I start to poke fun a little bit. So when
- 1:14Speaker 3: I can, we can poke fun and have a little fun.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I feel like we can build a repertoire.
- 1:19Speaker 1: This movie does hang on a bucket list. And so
- 1:22Speaker 1: I want to talk about two sides of that one.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Is there a life bucket list item that just hangs
- 1:29Speaker 1: in the back of your mind that you're dying to
- 1:30Speaker 1: check off?
- 1:32Speaker 3: For me, I want to go to Japan. I really
- 1:36Speaker 3: want to go to Japan. I want to see the countryside.
- 1:39Speaker 3: I want to see the city. There's something about the
- 1:42Speaker 3: Japanese culture. So that's on one of my ultimate bucket lists.
- 1:46Speaker 3: And to be able to go there in at least
- 1:48Speaker 3: business class, because it's a long flight.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I want to be able to sleep. Yeah, you need
- 1:53Speaker 1: a lie flat. My son is studying in Japan right now,
- 1:56Speaker 1: so he's really living the life that we all wish
- 1:58Speaker 1: we could.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Oh my God, I'm telling you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. What about you, Alvina?
- 2:03Speaker 2: To see Celine Dion in concert. Maybe, you know, in
- 2:07Speaker 2: Vegas is my ultimate dream.
- 2:09Speaker 1: She just announced a Paris residency for September and October
- 2:13Speaker 1: in France, not Vegas, Paris.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yes. I was worried that I wouldn't have a chance.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I was worried that she might retire because it's like
- 2:20Speaker 2: one of those things.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Right.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I want to see Michael Jackson. That didn't happen. I
- 2:23Speaker 2: really want to see Whitney Houston. That didn't happen. So
- 2:25Speaker 2: I was like, I just have one more chance to
- 2:28Speaker 2: see someone that I admire that I think is phenomenal
- 2:30Speaker 2: and just an amazing performance. So yeah, maybe I'll be
- 2:33Speaker 2: in Paris.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Hey, well, speaking of bucket list items in the movie,
- 2:38Speaker 1: was there one that was the most fun or even
- 2:40Speaker 1: the most challenging, exciting stuck out to you when filming?
- 2:44Speaker 2: The challenging one was a scarecrow. I was just trying
- 2:46Speaker 2: to keep, keep the head.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And then stuffing it with, Hey, I've never built a scarecrow.
- 2:54Speaker 2: So it was just, it was quite new and interesting.
- 2:58Speaker 2: and making sure to hold it in the right way
- 3:00Speaker 2: and lift it up. So that was the whole thing.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But yeah, the fun one was, I think, trying to
- 3:05Speaker 2: give Mr. and Mrs. a smile.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, the donut making was definitely something I really enjoyed,
- 3:10Speaker 3: making donuts and eating the donuts after. And I've never
- 3:13Speaker 3: had apple cider donuts before, so that was the first.
- 3:16Speaker 1: What's not to love? We have a segment on our
- 3:19Speaker 1: podcast that runs on every episode called Did You See That?
- 3:22Speaker 1: where we talk about scenes that viewers may not have
- 3:25Speaker 1: noticed on first watch or scenes that maybe require a
- 3:28Speaker 1: little bit of backstory to fully understand. Can you point
- 3:32Speaker 1: to a scene like that in this movie that you
- 3:35Speaker 1: want viewers to pay close attention to?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Oh, that's a good question.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Maybe I would say the first that comes to mind
- 3:44Speaker 4: is the scene where James cooks for kaya and um
- 3:50Speaker 4: because that's there's a lot of them really connecting um
- 3:54Speaker 4: talking about um the times from when they were younger
- 3:58Speaker 4: to to now and everything that's kind of happened in
- 4:00Speaker 4: between and and it's a there's there's a lot of
- 4:03Speaker 4: subtlety between the two of them where they start to
- 4:05Speaker 4: kind of like pick up that maybe there's something more
- 4:09Speaker 4: in in in this friendship and i.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Think the the the deeper you look within that scene
- 4:14Speaker 3: you can see them kind of struggling with the reality
- 4:18Speaker 3: of the situation and then an idea of the situation.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I love that you said that because my next question
- 4:25Speaker 1: was about, at some point you go from best friends
- 4:29Speaker 1: to more than this. And in my mind, it's that
- 4:33Speaker 1: dinner slash fire pit scene that really solidifies when your
- 4:37Speaker 1: characters realize that it's happening. Was that the moment for
- 4:40Speaker 1: you or was there another moment where you feel like, oh,
- 4:43Speaker 1: this is where things are starting to turn.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that scene was really beautiful. And we're so grateful
- 4:50Speaker 2: that we were able to have quite a bit of
- 4:52Speaker 2: input in how that scene went. It did feel a
- 4:55Speaker 2: little stiff when we were thinking about it. And, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 2: and we wanted it to live in this energy. And
- 5:01Speaker 2: we wanted it to feel like these characters were just
- 5:04Speaker 2: not in their heads so much. So we incorporated the
- 5:07Speaker 2: dance in that scene. decided to come up with. We
- 5:10Speaker 2: were like, oh, let's just incorporate, because a lot of
- 5:12Speaker 2: Black weddings have this specific dance that we do, and
- 5:15Speaker 2: everybody knows it. They all join in. And so we
- 5:18Speaker 2: were like, yeah, let's just do that. So we added
- 5:21Speaker 2: that through the dialogue. And so it kind of worked
- 5:24Speaker 2: out really well. I mean, as actors, I'm always trying
- 5:26Speaker 2: to find, as an actor, I'm always trying to find
- 5:28Speaker 2: moments where I can bring in action and activity. Because
- 5:31Speaker 2: we don't, we're not so sitting and talking. We're not
- 5:35Speaker 2: doing this all the time. It's kind of awkward. So
- 5:37Speaker 2: wherever we could find moments to let the scene move
- 5:40Speaker 2: and breathe and have life and energy, I think we
- 5:43Speaker 2: were so happy that we got to do that in
- 5:46Speaker 2: that dance scene. So yeah, that was really fun. And yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 2: I think that was the moment where we started to
- 5:52Speaker 2: see these characters start to live from their hearts instead
- 5:56Speaker 2: of their heads.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean, it's clear to hear you talk about that
- 6:00Speaker 1: scene that there's parts of this movie that are very
- 6:02Speaker 1: personal to you. If you were going to sell this
- 6:06Speaker 1: movie to someone without using our typical cozy, heartwarming discussion,
- 6:11Speaker 1: what would you tell people that this movie is truly
- 6:14Speaker 1: about at its heart?
- 6:15Speaker 2: I think this movie is about being courage, being courageous, sorry,
- 6:19Speaker 2: having courage, being honest with the things that you have
- 6:25Speaker 2: and the you know, the things that you don't have
- 6:27Speaker 2: in your life and the places that you thought you
- 6:30Speaker 2: saw yourself going versus where you ended up. And kind
- 6:35Speaker 2: of taking a step back, you know, getting out in nature,
- 6:38Speaker 2: maybe detoxing on the phone, just trying to really figure
- 6:41Speaker 2: out what it is that you want, no matter how
- 6:45Speaker 2: that appears on the outside or how anyone would perceive that.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I think just being really honest with yourself and recognizing that,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you know, there's things that you want and that that
- 6:55Speaker 2: you're willing to be brave enough to give them.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, I thank you so much for your time. We
- 6:59Speaker 1: can't wait for everyone to see the movie this weekend.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The fall vibes are vibing in this movie. So we're
- 7:04Speaker 1: so excited for that. All right, friends, before we go,
