- 0:15Hi guys, it's Megan from Vigilante Vibes and I started my
- 0:19day telling myself I would not be online, I would not be
- 0:22posting, I would not be doing anything because nothing's going
- 0:25to happen today and I have never been more wrong.
- 0:30Variety, Deadline, collidercomicbook.com all had
- 0:35sit down interviews with Kevin Feige who is the head of Marvel
- 0:38Studios and he spilled so much tea.
- 0:42He talked about so many things and I am going to go over every
- 0:47single thing with you and it's a lot.
- 0:51But come on, he can't drop all this knowledge and I not make a
- 0:55video about it. So I'm not even quite sure where
- 1:03to start. I guess like the first thing I
- 1:05posted was about Kevin Feige talking about Marvel Studios
- 1:08pivoting from King to Doctor Doom, which I think we all were.
- 1:11Like obviously it was because of Jonathan Majors.
- 1:14His quote is even before what had happened to the actor, we
- 1:18had started to realize that King wasn't Thanos.
- 1:21There was only one character that could be that because he
- 1:24was that in the comics for decades and decades.
- 1:26And because of the Fox acquisition, we finally had it
- 1:30and that's Doctor Doom. We had started talking about
- 1:33Doctor Doom even before we officially pivoted from King.
- 1:37According to him, they were talking about Doctor Doom even
- 1:39before Ant Man quantum mania, which is Kevin.
- 1:46You know that's a lie. I know you have to say it, but
- 1:50you can't even say Jonathan Major's name in this.
- 1:52You've referred to him as the actor, which I want to be
- 1:55perfectly clear, I do not want Majors back after what he did
- 2:00and he admitted to doing, per Rolling Stones, which recorded
- 2:07him admitting to what he did to this girl, I did not want him
- 2:12back. I do not want him back.
- 2:13I wanted King to be recast. I did not want to pivot to Doom.
- 2:17I think King has so much more in them, but also I think what
- 2:22better character to introduce Doom and show how high the
- 2:25stakes are and what a powerhouse he is would there be rather than
- 2:29King? They were so intermittent in the
- 2:31comics. They were not intermittent.
- 2:33That's not the right word. They're so intermingled in the
- 2:35comics. They just go hand in hand.
- 2:39So why wouldn't you use King to at least introduce Doctor Doom
- 2:42instead of this wild pivot? It just, it didn't sit right in
- 2:47my soul. It still doesn't.
- 2:50And but I guess that's what the company wants Kevin to say.
- 2:53Whatever. Moving on.
- 2:56What else did he talk about? Blade?
- 2:59The the, I think we've all had our fun poking fun at what was
- 3:05supposed to be Blade, According to him.
- 3:08We didn't want to put a leather outfit on him and have him start
- 3:12killing vampires. You can start and have a good
- 3:14script and make it a great script through production, but
- 3:17we didn't feel confident we could do that with Blade.
- 3:20We didn't want to do that to Mahershali and didn't want to do
- 3:23that to us. I'm here to tell you, Kevin, we
- 3:27want you to put him in a leather outfit and start have him
- 3:29killing vampires. That's exactly what we want you
- 3:31to do. But if if I think if they would
- 3:36have continued the road trying to force blade to happen, it
- 3:40would have been trash. They they didn't have a script,
- 3:43they didn't have a solid director, they didn't have
- 3:45anything. They still don't.
- 3:47He says it's still happening, But it's like, why though?
- 3:54Like just just leave it behind, Let it let it marinate.
- 3:59That's fine. It's not a big deal, he says.
- 4:03Additionally to it, he revealed that there are 4 versions of
- 4:07Blades in the works, two of them period pieces, one of them set
- 4:11in the 1930s, he said. We landed on a modern day and
- 4:14that's what we're focusing on. So it's very much still
- 4:18happening. But just wait till the next
- 4:23phase, see how Doomsday and Secret Wars goes.
- 4:26Then go back to Blade because right now it's you got y'all's
- 4:29head's not in it. I'm sorry.
- 4:30It's all about Doctor Doom and that's OK.
- 4:33Just let it go. It's not a big deal.
- 4:37So Speaking of back to Doctor Doom, actually speaking on
- 4:43Secret Wars, he talks about a potential reboot after Avenger
- 4:48Secret Wars. He says reboot is a scary word.
- 4:50Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people.
- 4:53Reset singular timeline. We're thinking along those line
- 4:56lines. X-Men is where that will happen
- 4:58next. That is per deadline.
- 5:02So that's big. I mean, so we are getting a
- 5:08reboot, at least some kind of reboot.
- 5:09But also Speaking of X-Men, Kevin Feige says Jake Schreyer,
- 5:14who is the director of Thunderbolts, is officially
- 5:16signed on to direct X-Men. He says it's all starting now.
- 5:20The script's underway. That is per comicbook.com with
- 5:23his talk with them. But he also says that the X-Men
- 5:27reboot film will be a very youth oriented, focused and cast
- 5:31movie. So it'll be younger X-Men, which
- 5:35is pretty. I like that.
- 5:37Keep him there for a long time. That's exactly what I want.
- 5:41Thank you. But also, he does talk about
- 5:48what happens when they over expanded.
- 5:53He says that the delays on Blade were a symptom of Marvel's over
- 5:57expansion. He says, he says for the first
- 6:00time ever, quantity trump quality.
- 6:02We had spent 12 years working on the Infinity Saga, saying
- 6:05there's that's never going to happen to us.
- 6:08We always had more characters that people were asking about
- 6:11than we could possibly make because we weren't going to make
- 6:14a movie a month. That's crazy.
- 6:16Suddenly there's a mandate to make more and we go, well, we do
- 6:19have more, but maybe that's what we fell into.
- 6:23That is Kevin Feige saying he is done with a certain Bob Chapeck.
- 6:29And I think we're all very done with Bob Chapeck.
- 6:31So cool. I'm down for it.
- 6:34So there's a lot more stuff that we're that I'm going to jump
- 6:36around to because all of this breaking news was a lot to take
- 6:39in at once because they all dropped at the same time.
- 6:43It was, it was so much so he talks about Marvel Studios
- 6:47making more R rated films. He says are there more R rated
- 6:51MCU movies after making the highest grossing R rated movie
- 6:54of all time with Deadpool Wolverine at 1.33 billion.
- 6:58Sure, where appropriate and where necessary.
- 7:02OK, well I like that. So he does say that Marvel
- 7:07Studios current plan goes all the way to 2032.
- 7:10He said it's a seven-year plan. I think it goes to 2032.
- 7:13It's on magnets and it can move around.
- 7:15So that means their dream board is basically on magnets.
- 7:19But he also says that it's pretty inevitable that the main
- 7:22Avengers will get recast for the eventual X-Men saga, he says.
- 7:27I think it's hard for anyone to do that when an actor has done
- 7:30such a great job in that role, he said.
- 7:32How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery as James
- 7:35Bond? Right?
- 7:37Fair. But speaking on other characters
- 7:40in the MCU, he talked about Miles Morales.
- 7:44He says that is nowhere. He said until Sony Pictures,
- 7:47which hold which holds the film rights to the character,
- 7:50completes its animated Miles trilogy with 2027 Spider man
- 7:54beyond the spider verse. We have been told to stay away.
- 7:57So I'm assuming that means for Gwen Stacy too, which whatever.
- 8:02I mean I'm excited for spider verse beyond the spider verse
- 8:05movie. I'm it did recently get delayed
- 8:09but not too long. It's still in 2027.
- 8:11It's whatever. Take as much time as you need.
- 8:14I'm good because if it's as good as quality as the other two, I
- 8:18am good. But my people, we, we won Mr.
- 8:26Stark, we won. Kevin Feige says Spiderman Brand
- 8:30New Day is a street level story. He says him being by himself,
- 8:35dedicated to saving the city and dealing with, for lack of a
- 8:38better term, St. level crime as opposed to the world ending
- 8:41events. He also confirmed that Jon
- 8:44Bernthal as the Punisher will be in that movie too.
- 8:47You guys, this is what we're asking for.
- 8:50Street level Spider man, that is what we need.
- 8:56We needed this as as a society, we needed this.
- 9:01But we're here. Thank you Jesus, thank you
- 9:04Kevin, and probably no thank you to Sony because I bet y'all
- 9:08wanted multiversal thing. No one hates Spider Man fans
- 9:11more than Sony. Can we all just admit that?
- 9:15But he also spoke on the Fantastic Four.
- 9:18I think it's no. It's pretty well known that the
- 9:22Fantastic Four is Kevin Feige's favorite team right around the
- 9:26X-Men. So I always knew Fantastic Four
- 9:29would do incredibly well in theaters because they put all
- 9:32the look they had into it so far.
- 9:34Marvel ended the embargo, social media embargo very early, I
- 9:38think to get ahead of San Diego Comic Con.
- 9:40So it was a few days ago, Friday, Saturday, I don't know,
- 9:45they all all the days are blending together, but all of
- 9:48the reviews have been nothing short of glowing.
- 9:52So we're going to see it this week and I am so excited.
- 9:56So make sure you have like and subscribe so you don't miss my
- 9:59review of it because I always do a review as soon as I get home
- 10:02from the theater. No notes, no nothing, just
- 10:05vibes. So make sure you don't miss
- 10:07that. But back to what I was saying,
- 10:09Kevin Feige on the Fantastic Four, he says why Fantastic
- 10:13Four, explains Feige. Because it's Marvel's first
- 10:16family. It's in the history of our
- 10:18characters. They deserve to be the A
- 10:20Listers. They were the A Listers in the
- 10:22comics. Every crossover movie we've made
- 10:24in the Infinity Saga, Civil War leading to Infinity War and End
- 10:27Game, which is really the Infinity Saga from the comics.
- 10:30The Fantastic Four were huge players in those comics and
- 10:33obviously we couldn't do that with then.
- 10:36Highly agree they are. So they are just so involved in
- 10:41so much of A comic, so much of the huge events, they're
- 10:44everywhere. So of course they have to be
- 10:47there. Like, I love it.
- 10:50I love what's going on. But my one of my last things,
- 10:55Kevin Feige on his future at Marvel Studios.
- 10:58This has been a rumor that's been annoying the piss out of me
- 11:01lately because all of you, I am so sorry, not all of you.
- 11:06I'm I'm really hyped up right now.
- 11:09So I'm so sorry if I get rude. A lot of you have believed A
- 11:14rumor that originated on Twitter that Kevin Feige is going to
- 11:17give up Marvel right after Secret Wars.
- 11:20Which come on guys, Kevin Feige is Marvel Studios who who would
- 11:25take his spot? Name one person.
- 11:29But he talks about his future with Marvel Studios putting
- 11:32those rumors to rest while his contract is up in two years, he
- 11:37tells Deadline. Do I want to be making big
- 11:39movies for big audiences in 10 or 15 years from now?
- 11:43Yes, that's all I want to do. Marvel is a great way to do
- 11:46that. So I like that he actually said
- 11:50something about this that needed to be said.
- 11:54Put these stupid rumors to rest. Finally, Kevin Feige is speaking
- 12:00out. He speaks out maybe like once a
- 12:02year, which is kind of nuts because it's like so much is
- 12:05happening in Marvel Studios, so many rumors, so many things that
- 12:08have to get verified by Deadline, Hollywood Reporter,
- 12:12all those other big, as close as you can get to confirmed
- 12:15platforms, they have to be the ones to confirm it.
- 12:17It's like, why don't you just speak?
- 12:20That's what I've always liked about James Gunn at DC.
- 12:24He does not care. He will speak on anything.
- 12:26He will come out of the woodwork and talk about anything.
- 12:29He will answer your questions. He will put to bed any stupid
- 12:32rumor that's going around. That's what I like.
- 12:35And I think Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige should take a leaf
- 12:39out of that book, take a page out of that book, take a page.
- 12:44But Speaking of James Gunn, he speaks on James Gunn, actually.
- 12:49He talks about how much he liked the Superman movie, which we all
- 12:53did. Let's be honest, like it was so
- 12:56well loved and I I love that freaking movie.
- 13:00But he says about the movie. It's clearly not super fatigue,
- 13:03right. I liked it a lot added Feige
- 13:06added of the DC film. I love you just jump right into
- 13:10it. You don't know who Mr. Terrific
- 13:11is tough. You'll figure it out.
- 13:13This is a fully fleshed out world.
- 13:15I actually really, really, really dug that too.
- 13:18So he's right. I like it so much.
- 13:23And there's just, he dropped so much here that I'm going through
- 13:30all my notes right now. So give me a second.
- 13:34So another thing he said was that he plans on making less
- 13:38content as a cure for superhero fatigue.
- 13:40He says making two or three movies a year.
- 13:42Some years it will be 1, some years it will be 3.
- 13:45Will be down to a single live action show a year.
- 13:50OK. I mean, like, that's fine.
- 13:53That whatever, that's fine, I don't care.
- 13:57Another thing he talks about was making lackluster movies.
- 14:02He says Captain America, Brave New World didn't work as it was
- 14:05the first without Chris Evans adding Thunderbolts was a very
- 14:09good movie, but nobody knew that title and many of those
- 14:12characters were from shows. There was that residual effect
- 14:16of audiences going. I guess I had to have seen these
- 14:19other shows to understand who this is.
- 14:22Now it makes sense why they revealed the name of the team.
- 14:27It was the New Avengers. Spoiler alert.
- 14:33It makes sense why they revealed that like 3 days after it hit
- 14:36theaters, because I get it. But like at the same time, it's
- 14:40like it it did. Well, you know what I don't?
- 14:45I don't know. I don't to be honest with you
- 14:47guys, I don't like how us as an audience are so focused on what
- 14:50movies make and all that. I think I let, I want to go back
- 14:53to the point where we just minded our business and solely
- 14:56made our decisions on whether we liked it or not.
- 14:59Not This movie made this and this was its budget.
- 15:01That's none of our business. Just move on.
- 15:03Another thing he said was that he has had talks with Ryan
- 15:06Reynolds about what's next for Deadpool and the MCU.
- 15:10And that's all he said, like OK cool.
- 15:18Other than that, Kevin Feige also admits that One Division
- 15:20and Loki are some of the best stories they've made at MCU.
- 15:25True, very true. Both had such incredible depth.
- 15:29I can't say that about Loki. Season 1, it just kind of
- 15:32dragged on for me. But season 2, I loved it.
- 15:36Show could have got me pregnant, it was so good.
- 15:39Another thing he said, Kevin Feige says I'm in Vilani is one
- 15:42of the greatest castings Marvel has ever done and he cannot wait
- 15:46to see where she appears next. So for those who don't know, I'm
- 15:50in Vilani. She is Miss Marvel, Kamala Khan,
- 15:54and this is her first acting gig.
- 15:55Like she's just a big old nerd like the rest of us.
- 15:58She is the Marvel nerd and she is living the Marvel nerd dream.
- 16:02And I think us, This Is Us as a society, need to make sure we do
- 16:07not ruin this time for her, keep the toxicity away from her.
- 16:12Let her live. She's already written Miss
- 16:14Marvel Comics and they weren't bad.
- 16:16I actually really like I, I dug them.
- 16:19So let's just let her keep being her.
- 16:24So that's all he said. I'm I'm sure there's other
- 16:29things that are going to come out, but like with four
- 16:31different articles with so much information coming in, I was so
- 16:36overwhelmed because I was just laying on the couch like, Oh my
- 16:40God, he's saying so much and I was just scrolling.
- 16:42So I hope I got everything for you.
- 16:45If I didn't let me know in the comments because I don't want to
- 16:48be that one that forgot that one big thing.
- 16:50So with that being said, make sure you like and subscribe so
- 16:54you don't miss any more of my content.
- 16:56I have a new episode dropping tomorrow for a very special
- 16:58mutant, very special to me. So make sure you like and
- 17:02subscribe. With that being said, have a
- 17:03marvelous day.
