- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we are talking about, rewiring your days and this is a
- 0:36subject that's very fascinating to me because most people show
- 0:40up for coaching and they think, oh my gosh, I don't know how I'm
- 0:44going to do this. I don't know how I'm going to
- 0:47change, I don't know the particulars of any of this and
- 0:49they get overwhelmed before they even start.
- 0:51And one of the simplest things that I really have to have
- 0:57everybody understand right at the, from the very beginning of
- 1:00working with Coaching with me is that you are a creature of
- 1:04habit, you are a creature of patterns and it is possible to
- 1:09change like you have to believe it's possible to change.
- 1:12And by changing your patterns, even the simplest of patterns,
- 1:15things, start to evolve. So, there are estimates out
- 1:19there that we have between 60 and 80 thousand thoughts a day.
- 1:22I mean, think about that, that's insane that that a person can
- 1:25have that many thoughts. First of all, it always
- 1:27fascinates me as to how they track this but they do And sixty
- 1:32to eighty thousand thoughts a day.
- 1:34The kicker is two-thirds of them are repeated from the day
- 1:37before. Now, that's even more insane,
- 1:40when you think about the, how the human brain works.
- 1:43And when you repeat things, they become part of who you are.
- 1:46So most of us learned multiplication that way where we
- 1:49were just drilled wrote learned it over and over and over and
- 1:52over until we could recite it and do it quickly.
- 1:55So that we knew those basic fundamentals.
- 1:59Which is the the Crux of how your brain likes to work.
- 2:03Repetition is the mother of skill for human beings.
- 2:06And once we do it, we can do it better and better and better and
- 2:09better. But they're really hard thing to
- 2:11understand. Is if the patterns are not
- 2:14resourceful, you are repeating them anyway.
- 2:18You are becoming more resourceful at the unrest or
- 2:22social activity. So think about what I just said
- 2:25if it's a destructive activity and you do it more and more and
- 2:28you become better at the Active activity, you're still going to,
- 2:31it's going to be a pattern. It's still going to affect you.
- 2:34You can't just get away from it because it's destructive, you
- 2:37know, and we have patterns in everything.
- 2:38We do, think about how you take a shower, you go and get in the
- 2:42shower, in the morning or the evening.
- 2:43Whenever you do, you're showering and boom.
- 2:46All of a sudden, you wash the same way.
- 2:49You have the same pattern of how you wash yourself, how you do
- 2:51your hair. Same thing about how you blow
- 2:54dry your hair or how you shave brush your teeth.
- 2:57You always start in the same spot for most.
- 2:59People, it is very driven. The side of the bed, they sleep
- 3:02on, how they put their clothes on, try to put your sneakers and
- 3:06socks on differently and watch how your brain goes.
- 3:08Wait, what? Because it's so conditioned.
- 3:11So the point of this is rewiring, your brain is very
- 3:17simple in the sense that you change the pattern of how you do
- 3:20something and then everything else gets scrambled.
- 3:24So let's say you want to start your day off and you want to
- 3:26start meditating. And you've always said, I want
- 3:28to meditate I know it's good for me, I hear how great it is but I
- 3:32just can't seem to get it. I struggle with it.
- 3:35Part of the problem is you are trying to insert something new
- 3:38into Old patterns. So I will often tell my clients.
- 3:42The best way to do that is to start scrambling your patterns
- 3:46now for any Seinfeld fans out there.
- 3:48If you're a big Seinfeld fan and I am a big Seinfeld fan, there
- 3:52was an episode where George was talking about opposite George
- 3:55and he was going to do opposite of everything that George ever
- 3:58talked about. And it was so great because he
- 4:00was scrambling his own patterns right down to if he ordered tuna
- 4:03salad. Now, he was going to order egg
- 4:05salad. He was going to order coffee, he
- 4:07would. Normally now are always order
- 4:09coffee, he would now or dirty, he's scrambling the simplest of
- 4:13patterns and then the others become open to interpretation
- 4:17and you can allow new things to happen.
- 4:20It's kind of like your trip tricking your brain.
- 4:22You're just saying if I always walk to my left and now I walk
- 4:25to my right and while I'm walking to my right, I think of
- 4:28something else. I want to do it becomes easier.
- 4:31So right from the morning, let's say we're going to add in the
- 4:34meditation. You wake up in the morning
- 4:36instead of going in and you know doing your day like you normally
- 4:42would grabbing your phone, checking your text messages, or
- 4:44emails, or whatever you say, no, I'm not going to do that, you
- 4:47get up, you drink water and you go and you meditate first right
- 4:51away. You've scrambled your brain
- 4:52because you're not looking at the old pattern and doing the
- 4:56phone or whatever. Now, obviously you probably have
- 4:59EP in there. First, you get up.
- 5:00I know. I'm just saying that.
- 5:02Don't touch the typical patterns.
- 5:04It's okay, though to get up and pee first.
- 5:06If you need to, or get up and brush your teeth and P fine, but
- 5:10talk about it in the sense of the big stuff that you're going
- 5:12to move around so that your brain does not have the same
- 5:15response. I promise you.
- 5:18If you try this technique, you're going to be astounded as
- 5:21to how different you feel right away because it really doesn't
- 5:24matter if you're going for a walk or you're meditating or you
- 5:26decide to read or you decide to change the smallest of small
- 5:30things, the one shift in the morning, makes all the
- 5:32difference so work on this and practice it scramble as much as
- 5:38you can and then try putting the new things in because I promise
- 5:43you when you do it, it will interrupt those old patterns and
- 5:46then you have the opportunity to put in the new ones you want.
- 5:50I hope you all have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
