Latest / HEY, AMBITIOUS / 40. Your Vision Doesn’t Need Another Vision Board
Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Hey ambitious friends.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Hey Ambitious.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Can you believe we're already approaching the end of 2026?
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: I mean seriously.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Didn't we just celebrate New Year's?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And here we are again.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Getting ready to think about what we want to create in 2027.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: New goals, new dreams, new possibilities.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: New vision boards.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Now let me ask you something.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Have you ever created a vision board?
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: You know, the beautiful pictures, the inspiring words, the dream vacation, the amazing house, the successful business, the woman who looks like she has absolutely everything figured out.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: And you look at your board and think, Yes, this is going to be my year.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: You're excited, you're inspired, you're ready.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And then life happens.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: The emails, the responsibilities, the appointments, the never-ending to-do lists, and somehow that beautiful vision board becomes part of the furniture.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: You walk past it every day.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And maybe occasionally you glance it and think, oh yes, I still want that.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: And then another year goes by.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Now, don't get me wrong, I love vision boards.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I love imagining possibilities.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I love creating something beautiful that represents the life we want to experience.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: But here's what I've come to realize: a vision board can show you what you want, but it doesn't necessarily change how you live.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And that, my friends, ambitious women, is what I want to explore with you today.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Because what if your vision does not need another board?
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: What if it doesn't need another five-year plan?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: What if it doesn't even need more motivation?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: What if your vision simply needs a decision?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And not just any decision.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: A decision that says, I'm willing to participate in creating this.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Have you ever noticed what happens when you get a really exciting idea?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're taking a walk, enjoying your morning coffee, or sitting on a beach somewhere, and suddenly this beautiful possibility shows up.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: You think, oh, I'd love to do that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's traveling for a month, maybe it's starting a business, maybe it's taking a class, writing a book, changing careers, or simply creating more space in your life to do what you love.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Or fall on love again.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: For a brief moment, you feel it.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: The excitement, the possibility, the little spark of aliveness, and then the committee arrives.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: You know, the committee I'm talking about, the one living inside your head.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Apparently, they are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: One committee member says, Well, how exactly would that work?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Another says, Where would you find the time?
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Someone else says, that sounds expensive.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And then there is always that one particularly dramatic committee member who announces, Who do you think you are?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Do you know that one?
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And before your beautiful idea has even had a chance to breathe, it's already being interrogated.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And here's what's fascinating.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: We often think we're being realistic.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: We think we're being responsible.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: We think we're simply thinking things through.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: But sometimes what we're actually doing is asking our future to prove itself using evidence from our past.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: We're asking something we've never experienced to provide proof that it's res that is possible before we're willing to explore it.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And our brains are very good at this.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Our brains use what we already know to make predictions about what might happen next.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: That's helpful when we are navigating everyday life, but it can become limiting when we are trying to create something new.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Because if we only choose what we already feel familiar, how do we ever experience something different?
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: And here's a question I want you to consider.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: How many beautiful possibilities have you talked yourself out of before you even gave them a chance?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Not because you didn't want them, but because you didn't know how they would happen.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Now I want to talk about something I think is incredibly important.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: The difference between desire and decision.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Because they're not the same thing.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Desire sounds like I would love to travel more.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I wish I had more freedom.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: I want to feel more fulfilled.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Someday I'm going to start that business.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: One day I'm going to do something just for me.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And I love desire.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Desire is where possibility begins.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: It's that inner spark that says, there is something more I'd love to experience.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: But here's the tricky part.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: We can spend years desiring something without even making a decision to participate in creating it.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: We keep waiting, waiting until we have more time, waiting until we have more money, waiting until we feel more confident, waiting until the kids are older, waiting until things settle down.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And my personal favorite waiting until we're ready.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: Have you done that before?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Have you noticed how readiness can be a moving target?
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Just when you think you're almost ready, your mind comes up with three more things you need to figure it out.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: But what if confidence is not something you have to feel before you begin?
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: What if confidence is something you build by participating?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: What if clarity comes through movement?
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: And what if you don't need to know the entire path before you take the first step?
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: This is where decision becomes powerful.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Because a decision changes your relationship with your desire.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Instead of saying, Someday I'd love to, you begin asking, what would it look like if I actually chose this?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: What would I need to make room for?
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: What's one step I could take?
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: And my favorite question?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: What would I allow myself to become if I stopped waiting for permission?
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Now notice something.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: We haven't figured out the entire plan.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: We haven't solved every problem.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: But something has shifted.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: We're no longer standing outside a vision, admiring it from a distance.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: We're stepping inside.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: We're becoming participants in our own lives.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: And that to me is where expansion begins.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I want to share something with you because I'm not just talking about this as a concept.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: I'm living it too.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Over the years, I've created businesses, taught classes, coached women, led workshops, and explored so many different ways of expressing myself.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And one thing I've learned is that I'm happiest when I'm creating, when I'm exploring, when I'm curious, when I'm bringing something new into the world.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: But here's the interesting part.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Even with all my experience, I can still find myself wanting to figure everything out before I begin.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: I can still hear that little voice asking, is this going to work?
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Is this a good idea?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Are you wasting time?
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Shouldn't you do more research first?
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Oh yes, my committee is very well trained.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Yours is too.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: But recently I've been playing with a different approach.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: Instead of asking, can I guarantee this will work?
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: I've been asking, what would happen if I allowed myself to explore this?
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: And that question has opened up some really interesting possibilities.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: For example, I've been creating an entirely new expression of my creativity through my online gift shop, Gift the Moment Studio.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: And I didn't have every detail figured out when I started.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I'm still learning, I'm still experimenting, I'm still discovering what I love creating and what people love receiving.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: But that's part of the adventure.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And something interesting happens when you allow yourself to create without demanding certainty.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: You begin to discover possibilities you couldn't have even imagined from the starting line.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes the next step only becomes visible after you've taken the first one.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: And that's a very different way of living than waiting until you can see the entire staircase.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Does that mean every idea works?
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Of course not.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Does it mean we never make mistakes?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Absolutely not.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: In my adventure, I'm making mistakes every day and I'm still learning and figuring things out.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: But I would much rather discover what's possible through participation than spend another year wondering what might have happened.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: I want to invite you to play with me for a moment.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: And if you're driving, please keep your eyes open.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I want you to imagine something.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: It's November 2027.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: A whole year has passed.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: And something you've been wanting for yourself has actually happened.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Maybe you took that trip you've been dreaming about.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Maybe you started something new.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Maybe your business grew in ways you didn't expect.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe you created more freedom in your schedule.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe you feel more connected, more alive, more like yourself.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Maybe you fell in love.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you finally stopped putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, imagine that's real.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Not someday, not eventually.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: It's happened.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: And I want you to notice.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: How does that feel?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: What are you doing differently?
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: What are you allowing yourself to experience?
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Who are you becoming?
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And here's the question I really want you to sit with.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: What did you finally give yourself permission to choose?
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Not what did you accomplish?
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Not how hard did you work?
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Not how many things did you check off your list, but what did you finally allow yourself to choose?
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe you chose to stop waiting, maybe you chose to trust yourself, maybe you chose to try something without knowing exactly how it would turn out.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe you chose to create more joy.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Maybe you chose yourself.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: And now I wanted to bring you back today, October 2026.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Ask you one more question.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: What's one decision you could make today that would move you toward that future?
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Not 10 decisions, not an entire strategic plan, just one.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Because here is what I want you to remember.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: You don't have to change your entire life today, but you can change your relationship with what's possible.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: And sometimes that begins with one decision.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: And this brings me to something I'm really excited about.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: I've created a new experience called Vision Board Beyond the Vision, the sorry Vision Beyond the Vision Board.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And I want to personally invite you to join me because as we approach the end of 2026, I don't want us to simply create another beautiful collection of pictures representing the lives we hope to have someday.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: I want us to explore what happens when we actually begin choosing those possibilities, when we stop interrogating every beautiful idea, when we stop waiting for certainty, when we give ourselves permission to imagine something different, and then make a decision to participate in creating it.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: So on Thursday, November 5th, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., I'm hosting a 90-minute in-person expansion experience called Vision Beyond the Vision Board.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: It's happening at Seasoned with Love in Bellbrook, Ohio.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: So it's 72 Bellbrook Plaza in Bellbrook, Ohio.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And Sissoned with Love is a beautiful business.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Um owned who the owner is Christy, and she is very gracious.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: She allows us to rent some space there to have this beautiful experience, and her catering is amazing.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: You definitely have to stop by, if not for my workshop, for her beautiful creations and food exploration.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you, this is not your typical vision board workshop.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: We're not going to spend 90 minutes cutting out pictures from magazines.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Although I do love a good magazine and a pair of scissors.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Instead, we're going to explore possibility in a completely different way.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: We're going to play, we're going to reflect, we're going to challenge some of those assumptions that keep us repeating the same patterns.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: And we're going to explore how to move from desire to decision.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: This is going to be interactive.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: It's going to be practical.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And most importantly, it's going to be fun.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: You don't need to know anything about manifestation.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: You don't need to have your goals figured out.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: You don't even need to know what your big vision is yet.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Just bring yourself, your curiosity, and your willingness to explore what's possible.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: And you will leave with greater clarity about what you want, a meaningful decision and a practical next step you can begin taking.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Plus, I have a little surprise Christmas gift for everyone who attends.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Because you know me, I've celebrated, I love celebrating people.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: And tickets are just$15.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: And you will find the details for joining us in the show notes.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I would absolutely love to see you there.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: And I have the flyer, and you can pay me via Venmo link, so you can just reach out by emailing me hello at heyambitious.com.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking how to say it.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so hello at heyambitious.com.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: And I will send you all the details and you can um pay$15, register so that I know you are coming.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Before I wrap up, I want to leave you with something.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: The next time a beautiful idea shows up, before your committee calls another emergency meeting, before you start asking how, when, where, and whether it's realistic, try something different.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Give that idea a little room.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Let yourself feel the excitement.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Let yourself imagine and ask, what if this is possible for me?
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Not because you know exactly how it's going to happen, but because you are willing to find out.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: Your vision does not need to defend itself the moment it arrives.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it just needs a little space to surprise you.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And remember, your vision does not need another year on a board.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: It needs you to choose it.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: And speaking of bringing beautiful ideas into the physical world, I want to share something else I've been creating.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Today's episode is sponsored by Gift the Moment Studio, my very own online gift shop on Etsy.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: And I have to tell you, this has been such a fun creative adventure for me.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: It's one of the ways I'm expressing my creative energy, playing with ideas, and turning those ideas into physical products that people can actually enjoy and share.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: And I love that.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Because Gift the Moment is really about something I believe deeply.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Love is life is made up of moments.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: The big ones, the little ones, the milestones, the adventures, the moments when someone accomplishes something wonderful, creates something beautiful, and then the moments when we simply want to remind someone how much they matter.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we move through life so quickly that we forget to celebrate them.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: So that's what I'm creating.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Meaningful, playful, personalized gifts that help us recognize and celebrate those moments.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: For example, I have a celebration candle collection with messages like, This moment smells like success, and I want you to be reminded of that.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Of course you did.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Look at you, crushing it again.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: And one of my favorites, she did the thing.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Because how often do we accomplish something meaningful and immediately move on to the next thing?
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we need someone to say, Hey, look at you.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Of course you did.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: That's worth celebrating.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: And with Christmas coming, I've also created a really fun Dear Santa candle collection for my fellow vacation lovers.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: One says, Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a vacation.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: And you can also personalize that.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: And another, Dear Santa, less wrapping, more packing, make it tropical.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Or you can personalize it and say, make it the Bahamas.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, come on.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: Who wouldn't love Santa to deliver a plane ticket to a beautiful beach and give you a little hint by sending you a candle?
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm also creating inspirational and encouraging Christmas ornaments to celebrate new possibilities and the dreams we are stepping into for 2027.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Little reminders of what we are choosing to create.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: And I especially love the idea of giving one of these ornaments to someone you believe in.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Almost like saying, I see you, I believe in you, and I'm excited about what you're creating.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And you can also personalize these ornaments with your message.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Because here's something I want us to remember.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: You don't have to wait until you've accomplished something extraordinary to be worth celebrating.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: You're already worth celebrating.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: So I'd love to invite you to visit my shop, Gift a Moment Studio, and Etsy.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: The link is in the show notes.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Take a look around, see what speaks to you, and maybe find something special for someone you love.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: And if you decide to support my little creative adventure, I would be incredibly grateful.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And of course, I'd appreciate a review.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Because every order, every kind message, every bit of encouragement means so much when you're building something new.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Remember that.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: And who knows?
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe seeing what I'm creating will inspire you to bring one of your own beautiful ideas into the world.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Alright, my ambitious friends.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for spending this time with me today.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: I hope this episode gave you something to think about.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: And more importantly, something to play with.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Because creating a life you love does not always have to be so serious.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it begins with curiosity.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it begins with a little courage.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it begins with one beautiful decision.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: So go out there, explore what's possible, give yourself permission to want what you want.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And remember, life is an adventure.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Create your own.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: Savor the moments and create more adventures.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Until next time, keep expanding what's possible.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And I will see you on Thursday, November 5th at 4 p.m.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: at the Seasoned with Love location in Belbrook.
