- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfac go to roll right, jumpson off into
- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt pump
- 0:15Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line. He throws it into
- 0:17Speaker 1: the end zone. Touchdown Seahawks. It's Michael Bumpus with a
- 0:21Speaker 1: diving catch in the end zone. Ten yard touchdown reception
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State has
- 0:28Speaker 1: found himself a place on this team. Now here's your host,
- 0:32Speaker 1: NASA Chubby. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk, a
- 0:37Speaker 1: big victory Monday here at the Vision Mason Athletic Center.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's a Seahawks takedown the Vision rival rams twenty seven
- 0:43Speaker 1: to twenty three, snapping that losing streak. But it's been
- 0:47Speaker 1: a couple of weeks and we're excited to get our
- 0:48Speaker 1: guy back on. It's Big Ray Roberts in the trenches.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's time to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk
- 0:57Speaker 1: Ray Roberts. Big Ray Man, it was not the prettiest game,
- 1:01Speaker 1: but it was a victory on the road and a
- 1:03Speaker 1: much needed one at that did this game finally silence
- 1:07Speaker 1: any of that talk that Geno Smith still needed to
- 1:09Speaker 1: check off that one box that you know, not being
- 1:11Speaker 1: able to get things done in the clutch against the Raiders,
- 1:14Speaker 1: that finally and all that nonsense and you know, kind
- 1:16Speaker 1: of check off the last box for Geno Smith. Well,
- 1:18Speaker 1: I hope it does. I mean, because if you look
- 1:20Speaker 1: at you know, I think we talked about this a
- 1:22Speaker 1: little bit in the postgame, is that there have been
- 1:25Speaker 1: times where he has given the team to lead late
- 1:28Speaker 1: in the game and then the defense gave up more
- 1:31Speaker 1: points or whatever, so then it looks like, hey, he
- 1:34Speaker 1: can't come through in the clutch, you know, but the dude,
- 1:37Speaker 1: this whole season has been clutch for him. He's playing
- 1:40Speaker 1: out of his mind, unlike any of us would have thought. Maybe.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm sure he's never doesn't feel that way. But it
- 1:47Speaker 1: was cool to see him be so cool, calm and
- 1:50Speaker 1: collected given all the other circumstances that were happening, all
- 1:54Speaker 1: the injuries and the back kill that were hurt that
- 1:56Speaker 1: was happening, The fact that he had to you know,
- 1:59Speaker 1: they had to rely on him him and his arm
- 2:00Speaker 1: and in the passing game to get that win. And
- 2:03Speaker 1: so just the way he went down the field and
- 2:05Speaker 1: that final drive was pretty awesome. And even just the
- 2:08Speaker 1: calm and confidence that he threw the touchdown pass to
- 2:11Speaker 1: DK speaks a lot. Speaks volumes to his ability to
- 2:16Speaker 1: remain calm in those situations and then come through with
- 2:18Speaker 1: a play that can fill the victory for the Seahawks. Now,
- 2:22Speaker 1: Gino definitely has confidence, like I'm not, That's an obvious
- 2:26Speaker 1: thing he carries himself. So you can tell like everything
- 2:28Speaker 1: you just said, But what do you think this win
- 2:30Speaker 1: did for him personally? Because you know, still you know,
- 2:33Speaker 1: kind of eliminating some of those naysayers. And though he
- 2:35Speaker 1: has the confidence and we've seen it all year, how
- 2:37Speaker 1: big do you think this was for him? Well, you know,
- 2:40Speaker 1: sometimes as when you like, uh, you try to portray
- 2:44Speaker 1: to everyone that you have supreme confidence in yourself, but
- 2:48Speaker 1: then sometimes it's just something like in the back of
- 2:50Speaker 1: your hair where you go like, man, but I just
- 2:52Speaker 1: need this one little thing to kind of validate myself.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And so you know, I've never really followed Gino's whole career,
- 2:58Speaker 1: but just knowing you know how it ends it in
- 3:00Speaker 1: the different places, and it just seemed like people had
- 3:02Speaker 1: written him off. It had to feel good in that
- 3:05Speaker 1: moment for him to prove to himself that with the
- 3:09Speaker 1: absolute game on the line, clock, running out, injuries all
- 3:13Speaker 1: all over the place, a team that was playing you
- 3:16Speaker 1: better than you thought they were going to play you,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and then you came through a supreme fashion. That has
- 3:22Speaker 1: to give you just a boost of like, uh like
- 3:26Speaker 1: not like I've arrived, but yes, I can do this.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I can remember my rookie year the second half of
- 3:33Speaker 1: the season, you know, playing against some really good players
- 3:35Speaker 1: like Derek Thomason and even you know, Larnce Taylor at
- 3:38Speaker 1: the end of his career. But being able to hold
- 3:41Speaker 1: some of those dudes without sacks just kind of let
- 3:44Speaker 1: me know, Okay, like I knew I could do it,
- 3:46Speaker 1: but now I'm showing it on film that I could
- 3:48Speaker 1: do it, and I'm proving it to some of the
- 3:50Speaker 1: better players in the history of this league that I
- 3:53Speaker 1: can that I can roll with them in the game.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And so that that self validation has to come from
- 3:59Speaker 1: a like that hey, big race. So obviously Gino Smith
- 4:03Speaker 1: has confidence and gain even more confidence with that final drive,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but we did lose kin Walker. We're not sure for
- 4:09Speaker 1: how long we lost him. How confident are you in
- 4:12Speaker 1: the run game if kin Walker is not available? Well,
- 4:16Speaker 1: I'll put it this way, Big Mike, I don't know
- 4:19Speaker 1: about my confidence level because I don't know who's going
- 4:21Speaker 1: to be back there. But every offensive line's dream is
- 4:25Speaker 1: to be put in this situation, right, so we're every
- 4:29Speaker 1: game is a playoff game situation. Past protection is going
- 4:32Speaker 1: to be critical because that's gonna be where you're gonna
- 4:34Speaker 1: lean the most on to win games. And then you
- 4:38Speaker 1: have to come up with a way to create lanes
- 4:41Speaker 1: for who you know, whoever they put it running back
- 4:44Speaker 1: to game yards to keep the running game respectable. And
- 4:47Speaker 1: that is a challenge that should land squarely on the
- 4:50Speaker 1: shoulders of this offensive line, and I hope that they're
- 4:53Speaker 1: up for the challenge. I hope that they even look
- 4:55Speaker 1: at it and think about it that way that really truly,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Like you always say that the comes down to who
- 5:01Speaker 1: wins the trenches, but for the Seahawks to go where
- 5:04Speaker 1: they want to go, the offensive line is going to
- 5:06Speaker 1: have to deliver them to it, and that's by protecting Gino.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So he can get to the receivers with the way
- 5:13Speaker 1: BK and Tyler a plan, and then whoever they put
- 5:17Speaker 1: in at running back, whether it's a service of persons,
- 5:20Speaker 1: serviceable person, or somebody they get off the waive of
- 5:23Speaker 1: wire that has a history of having some big games,
- 5:26Speaker 1: they have to put it on their shoulders to create
- 5:28Speaker 1: space for that person to gain yardage. And so to me,
- 5:31Speaker 1: like I would be excited as an offensive one because
- 5:35Speaker 1: it's like, that's where you want it. You want to
- 5:37Speaker 1: be able to dictate and determine what happens, and they
- 5:42Speaker 1: really truly get a chance to do that. Yeah, Ray,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think you're right. So it really comes out to
- 5:47Speaker 1: that offensive line, right, you can put guys back there. Obviously,
- 5:50Speaker 1: ken Walker gives you the most opportunity to have big runs.
- 5:54Speaker 1: What you see out of Tony though, Man, I was
- 5:56Speaker 1: room for that dude. Anybody who is a number two
- 5:58Speaker 1: or three undrafted free agent, I'm rooting for him. What'd
- 6:01Speaker 1: you see out of Tony back there? Well? You know
- 6:04Speaker 1: to me, for you know, I think in the post
- 6:05Speaker 1: game he said he had a few rests with the
- 6:07Speaker 1: first team, but for him just to have an awareness of,
- 6:10Speaker 1: you know, what he was doing, and he was you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: he hit the holes hard. You know, he's trying to
- 6:14Speaker 1: get the yardership was there. He looks like a guy
- 6:17Speaker 1: that can that can get it done. Sometimes, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 1: those dudes are just kind of stuck behind some some
- 6:22Speaker 1: guys that come in with bigger reputations and things. So
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know, if he came out of the game unscathed
- 6:27Speaker 1: and has a chance to work the full week with
- 6:30Speaker 1: the first team, I mean, shoot that he looks explosive.
- 6:33Speaker 1: He looks pretty thick for a guy. You know, it
- 6:35Speaker 1: runs hard and all that kind of stuff, and I
- 6:37Speaker 1: think they want to use him in the pass a
- 6:39Speaker 1: game as well. So I remember playing and having backups
- 6:42Speaker 1: command and stuff, and I took proud in helping those
- 6:46Speaker 1: dudes kind of get their shine on. So hopefully, you
- 6:49Speaker 1: know that'll happen with Alph as the line and if
- 6:51Speaker 1: he has to be the guy that carries the boat,
- 6:53Speaker 1: that he can come through. And you know, not that
- 6:55Speaker 1: he has to be a world beater in rush or
- 6:56Speaker 1: two hundred yards, but he just has to keep the
- 6:58Speaker 1: running game respectable. Ray on the defensive side, looks like
- 7:02Speaker 1: the Rams were still able to move the ball despite
- 7:05Speaker 1: a lot of the injuries. They had there. Now it
- 7:07Speaker 1: didn't look like the Rams game, thank god. But I
- 7:09Speaker 1: guess my question to you is, do you think that
- 7:12Speaker 1: was more about Sean McVeigh calling a hell of an
- 7:14Speaker 1: offensive game plan versus the Seahawks not being able to
- 7:19Speaker 1: slow down some of their their options on offense. Well,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I really think, you know, Sean McVay did call an
- 7:25Speaker 1: amazing game. It just seems like every every play called,
- 7:28Speaker 1: somebody was getting the ball in a ton of space,
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know, able to make some plays with it. But
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think because of the last the two previous games,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I think the Seas were kind of hunkering down to
- 7:38Speaker 1: take care of the running game between the tackles because
- 7:40Speaker 1: that's where they were getting smashed. And if you take
- 7:43Speaker 1: away the boot yard, is that that Wolford made and
- 7:47Speaker 1: then the fly sweeps that you know, you know, they
- 7:50Speaker 1: were kind of anticipating more, you know, in the box running.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Then they only rushed for seventy four yards, and so
- 7:56Speaker 1: I think in that regard, I thought the defense did
- 7:59Speaker 1: kind of what they game planned to do, but then
- 8:01Speaker 1: they just was slow to adjust to the fly sweep
- 8:03Speaker 1: stuff and to the boot stuff. So there is something
- 8:06Speaker 1: to feel positive about, Like I said, you know, in
- 8:08Speaker 1: order to impact the run game, you have to play
- 8:10Speaker 1: on the other side of the line of scrimmage. So
- 8:12Speaker 1: the defenders have to get their heels across the offensive
- 8:16Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. And then that makes the running back
- 8:19Speaker 1: have to make moves in the backfield before he wants to.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And so al Woods was back up to his standard
- 8:25Speaker 1: of like really getting push in the middle. Full of
- 8:27Speaker 1: Ford was doing this thing. But I think they just
- 8:30Speaker 1: kind of got yardage on those outside runs that I
- 8:33Speaker 1: don't think the seahows were kind of planning for their
- 8:36Speaker 1: plan for more that in the box running. And when
- 8:38Speaker 1: you look at that, I thought they did a pretty
- 8:40Speaker 1: good job. Ray. We all know that you like some
- 8:43Speaker 1: run game. Man, you said, it allows linemen to get downhill.
- 8:47Speaker 1: They did not come to pass pro even though they
- 8:49Speaker 1: do that. But what is it like getting to pass
- 8:53Speaker 1: pro when you got two receivers going off man DK
- 8:55Speaker 1: one twenty eight title a lot of one twenty seven
- 8:59Speaker 1: as a as a line in when you lose your
- 9:01Speaker 1: number one running back and you know you're gonna have
- 9:03Speaker 1: to lean on the pass, how does that shift your mentality?
- 9:06Speaker 1: But I'm not gonna allow to the thing I love
- 9:09Speaker 1: about receivers and it's a love hate kind of a thing.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Is that when they're when they're on fire, they talk
- 9:15Speaker 1: the most trash and uh and that really gets you
- 9:18Speaker 1: fired up as an offensive line, and like when you're
- 9:20Speaker 1: when you know, when DK went in motion and what's
- 9:23Speaker 1: calling Ramsey to come with it? Like that kind of stuff.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Like those types of things kind of get me fired up.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And then you I've played with offensive with receivers that
- 9:30Speaker 1: will start fights and then run behind the offensive line
- 9:33Speaker 1: to kind of finish the fight. Well, DK starts some
- 9:36Speaker 1: man finishism, so like that that creates a whole lot
- 9:39Speaker 1: of energy on the sideline just because he brings like
- 9:42Speaker 1: that mentality to it. And so it's you take pride in,
- 9:47Speaker 1: you know, obviously protecting the quarterback because you know, if
- 9:50Speaker 1: you think about it, the offensive line is the only
- 9:52Speaker 1: position in all the sports where your your primary job
- 9:55Speaker 1: is to protect people, you know, and so you take
- 9:57Speaker 1: pride in protecting you know. Yeah, we gave up some sacks,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think a couple of them that have been Gino
- 10:02Speaker 1: where he kind of held the ball a little bit
- 10:03Speaker 1: or he tried to scramble a little bit. But also
- 10:07Speaker 1: to you know, these young dudes who are adjusting to
- 10:09Speaker 1: people having a lot of film on them now and
- 10:11Speaker 1: understanding how to rush them and where the weaknesses and
- 10:13Speaker 1: things are. So it'll be up to them to remain professional.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Get back in the film room, do some self scouting.
- 10:19Speaker 1: You do some you know, extra scouting on the guys
- 10:21Speaker 1: that are playing against and look at how people have
- 10:23Speaker 1: been attacking them. And then come out and finish the
- 10:25Speaker 1: season stroll. Alright, alright, big Ray, we appreciate you hopping
- 10:30Speaker 1: on with us and the big Seahawks victory against the
- 10:32Speaker 1: Rams twenty seven, twenty three. Ray, you can hear him
- 10:35Speaker 1: on the huddle every Thursday, you know, obviously hear him
- 10:38Speaker 1: on the pre and post game show. Michael Bumps and
- 10:40Speaker 1: the rest of the Seahawk legends. Right, appreciate you hopping
- 10:42Speaker 1: on with us. Thanks right, thanks, right, alright, alright, now, Bump,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you'd be one of those receivers though. Man, I'm telling
- 10:48Speaker 1: you something. You get in there, you squabble up, you
- 10:50Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You would start a fight run away, right,
- 10:53Speaker 1: And now I'm in the mix, and man if I started,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna be there for the duration. All right, Let's
- 10:59Speaker 1: get into what had happened? See what happened? At first?
- 11:04Speaker 1: What had happened? Talks back in the wind column. Like
- 11:08Speaker 1: we said, after a hard fought battle with the Rams,
- 11:11Speaker 1: the Rams were banged up. This was a game we
- 11:13Speaker 1: felt the Seahawks absolutely needed to win. We essentially said,
- 11:17Speaker 1: there wasn't an excuse to get this done just because
- 11:19Speaker 1: who the Seahawks have on their side versus who the
- 11:21Speaker 1: Rams had on their side. But let me tell you something, Bump,
- 11:23Speaker 1: no one told the Rams that because they was ready,
- 11:28Speaker 1: was ready to go. There's a reason Sean McVay is
- 11:30Speaker 1: a good football coach man. They came out ready to rock.
- 11:33Speaker 1: John Woolford got to start at QB as they were down.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford opened up at ten place, seventy seven yard
- 11:39Speaker 1: drive ending with the kim Akers touchdown. As the Rams
- 11:41Speaker 1: jumped out to that seven oh lead, and I was like, Okay,
- 11:45Speaker 1: didn't really feel great about how that start went and
- 11:48Speaker 1: how easy it felt. But our guy Gino Bump always
- 11:51Speaker 1: comes back in response. Yeah, he seems to never let
- 11:53Speaker 1: us down when it comes to the response. Man. They
- 11:55Speaker 1: go six place, seventy five yards and Tyler Lockett when
- 11:58Speaker 1: we cap it off with a thirty six start touchdown,
- 12:00Speaker 1: nice little deed crossing route getting behind the middle linebacker
- 12:03Speaker 1: mister four or five, and that tied the game up
- 12:05Speaker 1: at seven. After round field goal and two punts, the
- 12:08Speaker 1: Seahawks offense will go on another drive eleven plays ninety
- 12:12Speaker 1: one yards. They found no off fan in the back
- 12:14Speaker 1: of the ends on a little corner route for a
- 12:16Speaker 1: four yard touchdown that made the score fourteen and ten.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Then the Rams would tack on a field goal, making
- 12:22Speaker 1: it fourteen thirteen and a half time. Yeah, so again
- 12:25Speaker 1: the game is closer than you thought it'd be, but
- 12:27Speaker 1: you still feel like the Seahawks are in control. They
- 12:29Speaker 1: would add another field goal in the third quarter coming
- 12:31Speaker 1: out of the half, and then Bobby Wagner, who I'll
- 12:35Speaker 1: say it, had himself a day the day, got an
- 12:38Speaker 1: interception at Geno Smith. This kind of question, Well, I
- 12:40Speaker 1: thought it was pretty clear as day that Joe Junior
- 12:44Speaker 1: caught the ball and was down before Bobby ripped it away.
- 12:46Speaker 1: But hey, in the box score goes down an interception.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner also had two sacks, so he was having
- 12:51Speaker 1: himself a day. That helped the Rams get a field
- 12:53Speaker 1: goal and close the gap. To seventeen to sixteen. Early
- 12:56Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. The Hawks would answer to the
- 12:58Speaker 1: eleven play sixty seven yard drive, but stalled out in
- 13:01Speaker 1: the red zone, once again, settling for a Jason Myers
- 13:03Speaker 1: field goal. Jason Myers has been absolutely nails this year,
- 13:06Speaker 1: by the way. That made the score twenty to sixteen bump.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And that's when things got a little dicey. What happened? Yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 1: wolfer Man, he doesn't I give him this man, he's
- 13:15Speaker 1: got some moxie to him. Now. He was running, he
- 13:18Speaker 1: was scrambling, he was making plays, and he let this
- 13:20Speaker 1: team down the field on nine play seventy five yard,
- 13:23Speaker 1: driving Cam Akers, who wasn't even on the team that
- 13:25Speaker 1: had philosophy differences with Sean McVey as all of a
- 13:29Speaker 1: sudden one of their goal to guys. He would score
- 13:31Speaker 1: touchdown and the Rams would take the league twenty three
- 13:33Speaker 1: to twenty with two fifty six on the clock. And
- 13:35Speaker 1: then it was time for Geno's moment. We're watching this,
- 13:39Speaker 1: We're saying, all right, how's he going to handle him?
- 13:41Speaker 1: We need to score points right here? You know what
- 13:43Speaker 1: he does? Tim plays seventy five yards. He found Tyler
- 13:46Speaker 1: Lockett on a third and ten to keep the drive going.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Then he hits Mark He's good one on a second
- 13:51Speaker 1: and five, picks up seventeen yards there, and then we're
- 13:53Speaker 1: down inside the ten yard line. You got DK isolated
- 13:57Speaker 1: on one side of the formation and you're saying, I
- 14:00Speaker 1: let's get it going up against Jalen Ramsey finds DK
- 14:03Speaker 1: for that touchdown, and it was like I felt pressure
- 14:06Speaker 1: released off of me. I can only imagine how Geno felt.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. We were so nervous up there waiting
- 14:11Speaker 1: and watching, not sure what to do with ourselves, especially
- 14:13Speaker 1: when it came to that third and ten, but found
- 14:16Speaker 1: mister reliable Tyler Locket always getting the job done, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: she knew he could do this. He's one of the
- 14:21Speaker 1: most confident dudes I've ever seen in his ability and
- 14:24Speaker 1: then confident in himself as a person and as a
- 14:27Speaker 1: football player. So he knew he could do it. But
- 14:29Speaker 1: it was just good for everyone else to kind of
- 14:30Speaker 1: see that, and so we kind of stopped talking about that.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Check that box. Geno's the man, He's doing it, doing
- 14:35Speaker 1: it all. Cody Barton would come in and get a
- 14:37Speaker 1: little game ceiling game was ready over, but a nice
- 14:40Speaker 1: little interception to have that stat sheet in a Seahawk victory.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But Bom, there was a lot of dudes making plays, playmakers, playmakers.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Gene No Smith, guy, we're just talking about twenty eight
- 15:02Speaker 1: to thirty nine, three hundred and sixty seven yards, three touchdowns,
- 15:05Speaker 1: one interception. This was Geno's fourth game passing over three
- 15:08Speaker 1: hundred yards this season, and his three hundred sixty seven
- 15:11Speaker 1: yards was a career high. Geno also set a single
- 15:14Speaker 1: season career high in passing yards with three thousand, one
- 15:17Speaker 1: hundred and sixty nine. Geno Smith is doing it all, Bump.
- 15:20Speaker 1: He's doing it all every week. It feels like he's
- 15:22Speaker 1: doing something different in the record books, and it's just
- 15:25Speaker 1: he's just doing everything. And I'm really impressed by what
- 15:27Speaker 1: we've seen from Gino Smith, and he's our leader and
- 15:30Speaker 1: he's gonna lead us to that promise. Lam Bump, Yeah, man,
- 15:32Speaker 1: Geno's breaking records and leading the NFL on a whole
- 15:34Speaker 1: bunch of categories. Man, I love to see it. And
- 15:37Speaker 1: the guys who helped him out this week, I'm gonna
- 15:40Speaker 1: put these two together, DK Metcalf and Tyler Locketman. DK
- 15:43Speaker 1: had eight receptions on eight targets for one twenty seven
- 15:46Speaker 1: in the game winning touchdown Tyler Lockett. He had nine
- 15:51Speaker 1: for one twenty eight and one touchdown. He's got eighteen
- 15:53Speaker 1: career a hundre yard games, last third most in franchise history.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I watched the all twenty two today and he's still
- 16:01Speaker 1: got a little burst. Tool man like this who's thirty
- 16:03Speaker 1: years old and still has that burst. His touchdown was beautiful,
- 16:06Speaker 1: Like I mentioned, a deep cross, you make one guy miss,
- 16:08Speaker 1: make another guy miss you getting the end zone. Gino
- 16:11Speaker 1: relied on these two heavily as he should, and they
- 16:13Speaker 1: came through, no question about. I love to see those two.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And it's been a little while since we've seen him
- 16:18Speaker 1: go off like that, you know what I'm saying. So
- 16:20Speaker 1: really good to see everyone working, you know, on the
- 16:22Speaker 1: same team on that offense often still putting up points,
- 16:25Speaker 1: still find a way to get twenty seven. They're averaging
- 16:27Speaker 1: I think coming into the game. They're average about that
- 16:29Speaker 1: every game too, So good to see that. And then
- 16:31Speaker 1: on defense, all right, guy see woo to killing the
- 16:35Speaker 1: game right now. Seven tackles, three passes defended, one interception.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Teriq set the franchise rookie record with his six interception
- 16:41Speaker 1: of the season. He's also tied with CJ. Gardner Johnson
- 16:44Speaker 1: for the NFL lead and interceptions, And it was really
- 16:47Speaker 1: cool to hear him talking about postgame how he goes
- 16:49Speaker 1: back to draft day and he's thinking, Man, all these
- 16:52Speaker 1: corners coming off the board, everyone's getting picked, and he's
- 16:54Speaker 1: thinking about himself, like, man, this is embarrassing. I'm not
- 16:56Speaker 1: gonna get picked. Obviously, we know what happens to. Seahawks
- 16:59Speaker 1: picked him. They met with Trek before that, they liked
- 17:01Speaker 1: him a lot, and the rest has been history. Because
- 17:03Speaker 1: Darke Woollin is already getting that Richard Sherman treatment and
- 17:07Speaker 1: it's only going to get worse because every time people
- 17:09Speaker 1: do try him, he makes place. So he is having
- 17:12Speaker 1: a season that no one thought he could have and
- 17:14Speaker 1: he's really showing that he can be a shutdown corner
- 17:17Speaker 1: in this league. So love what treas doing. Yeah, big
- 17:20Speaker 1: up to t woose these next guys. So Jenna the
- 17:23Speaker 1: Wolsu who on my show today, I had to go
- 17:25Speaker 1: off on a dude who called this guy a bust.
- 17:28Speaker 1: He called this dude four tackles, two sacks, one TfL,
- 17:31Speaker 1: three quarterback heads. I believe he has nine sacks on
- 17:33Speaker 1: the year. He called my man a bust. I cut
- 17:36Speaker 1: him off so swiftly and hung up the phone on
- 17:38Speaker 1: him and said, you are crazy. You must just want
- 17:40Speaker 1: some drama. I'm here for. Don't you be talking about
- 17:42Speaker 1: Chenna like that? Then he talked about Jordan Brooks, said,
- 17:45Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, I don't like him at a linebacker. We
- 17:47Speaker 1: should have done this and done that. I go, this
- 17:49Speaker 1: man is third in the league when it comes to tackles.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He had nine tackles, one sack, one TfL and one
- 17:54Speaker 1: quarterback hit. Sometimes guys fancies don't know what they're looking at.
- 17:58Speaker 1: He disrespected Uchenna. Then Jordan Brooks had to yell at
- 18:01Speaker 1: him and hang up the phone. These guys balled out.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Let him know, Bump, it's not a game you can't
- 18:05Speaker 1: come out of. Dudes, are you serious right now? So sincere,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I just if you if you were watching football and
- 18:12Speaker 1: you think you're chatting the wild Sue isn't playing good
- 18:14Speaker 1: ball or Jordan Brooks, I don't know what you're watching
- 18:16Speaker 1: that is. I don't even tries checked. The last one
- 18:21Speaker 1: will shout out Kobe Barton. He had seven tackles, one interception,
- 18:23Speaker 1: He's been playing better and better every week, and Bumble's
- 18:27Speaker 1: keeping on the offense. Now flip it over the wide receiver,
- 18:29Speaker 1: round up a lot of guys catching passes. You love
- 18:32Speaker 1: to see a box score that looks like this. Bump yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 1: man um just the distribution right, I love to see it.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Kobe Parkinson's tighten. He had a catch for twelve yards
- 18:42Speaker 1: on one of those touchdown scoring drives you had. Uncle
- 18:45Speaker 1: Will Dissie who got involved too for twenty two no
- 18:47Speaker 1: offense had four for forty two and a touchdown. He's
- 18:50Speaker 1: quietly having a good season. I believe his career high
- 18:54Speaker 1: was about six hundred and forty yards. He's probably gonna
- 18:57Speaker 1: pass that this year if he keeps performing the way
- 18:58Speaker 1: he has. We talked to about Tiland dk Both went
- 19:01Speaker 1: for over one hundred and twenty and a touchdown. Markis
- 19:04Speaker 1: Gilwin had one catch on two targets, a very clutch
- 19:06Speaker 1: catch on that second and five on the game winning drive.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Has had an opportunity to score touchdown, but the rams
- 19:11Speaker 1: has made a great play. Gino made a good throw.
- 19:13Speaker 1: This couldn't come down with it. Tread Will had had
- 19:16Speaker 1: a reception as first as a seahawk I want to say,
- 19:20Speaker 1: and then DJ and Kenneth had some targets but couldn't
- 19:22Speaker 1: get it done. But what do we see here? We
- 19:24Speaker 1: see receivers, tight ends, running backs, anyone who is eligible,
- 19:28Speaker 1: any position eligible to catch a football. Did exactly that,
- 19:31Speaker 1: exactly what you want to see anytime I see twenty
- 19:33Speaker 1: eight reception, three sixty seven on four and thirty seven targets.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I'll take that any day of the week. Thirty thirteen
- 19:39Speaker 1: point one on average, three touchdowns. That's the kind of
- 19:42Speaker 1: roundup you want to see. Now, let's go back in
- 19:44Speaker 1: that coach's corner talking about these receivers. Gino Smith finds
- 19:48Speaker 1: DK Metcalf for the game winning touchdown. Three receivers right side,
- 19:54Speaker 1: DK Metcalf to the left with Jalen Ramsay on him.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Gino takes the snap, war man rush but a half
- 20:01Speaker 1: role throws back inside, ritching out backing, catch tout down Stayhawks,
- 20:08Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? Godk bat Calf. Ramsey was all
- 20:13Speaker 1: over him. DK put some thick myths up and says
- 20:16Speaker 1: that ball is mine and the Seahawks take the lead.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Twenty six, twenty three. What a dark thrown by Geno Smith. Yeah, man, um,
- 20:28Speaker 1: what I like about this play is one of the formation.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You got trips up top, got Cody Barton I believe
- 20:34Speaker 1: that's Mark he's good with and Tyler Lockett. I mean
- 20:37Speaker 1: not Cody Barton, Koby Parkinson's arm book Parkinson does. He's
- 20:40Speaker 1: in a two point stands. He is there for protection,
- 20:43Speaker 1: so when they release, he takes care of the end.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Right there, we got DJ Dallas on the right side
- 20:48Speaker 1: of Gino Smith. Nice little playfake. The reason why I
- 20:51Speaker 1: love the play fake right here because it's first and goal.
- 20:53Speaker 1: You feel like, all right, these guys are gonna run
- 20:55Speaker 1: the football in first down, try to get some yards.
- 20:57Speaker 1: This is right after the play, directly after Marquis Goodwin
- 21:01Speaker 1: sets him up, So you get that play fake bam
- 21:04Speaker 1: going across the left of Gino and then you have
- 21:07Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett just hitting the flat and you have Markue's
- 21:09Speaker 1: Goodwin running a corner route if you remember, no offense
- 21:13Speaker 1: up rand a corner later earlier in the game and
- 21:15Speaker 1: they hit him right there. So what that corner does
- 21:17Speaker 1: it pulls the safety with them. And then that corner
- 21:19Speaker 1: who's dropping into his zone and pulls it with him.
- 21:21Speaker 1: So now you got a two for one, right there
- 21:23Speaker 1: that swing kind of bubble. Look by Tyler Lockett pulls
- 21:26Speaker 1: that defender now with Gino does it kind of helped
- 21:29Speaker 1: the situation. He rolls to his right just a little bit.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You got DC at the bottom screen one on one
- 21:34Speaker 1: in a tight formation. Usually when he's tight like that,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you expect him to do an outbreaking route. That's why
- 21:39Speaker 1: you look at Jala Ramsey. He's in man, but he
- 21:41Speaker 1: has an outside shade. He goes, look, this guy's lined
- 21:44Speaker 1: up inside like that. He's gonna try to break outside.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But what DK does He gets an inside release states
- 21:49Speaker 1: vertical and snaps it off on like a short post.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Gino sliding to the right. With that corner route by
- 21:54Speaker 1: a goodman going to the right, with the bubble by
- 21:56Speaker 1: Lockey going to the right, it opens up space or
- 22:00Speaker 1: DK to work. Combined with the play fake that gets
- 22:03Speaker 1: the backers to bite down and Gino on the run
- 22:06Speaker 1: just throws a missile and it is a contested football.
- 22:09Speaker 1: DK comes down with a rock. The safety tries to
- 22:12Speaker 1: help out. Fourteen is too big, too strong. Good guys up.
- 22:17Speaker 1: No disagreement with anything you just said. I love it.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I mean Jalen Ramsey mentioned it. He's playing outside leverage.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Anytime someone runs away from you, especially around like that
- 22:24Speaker 1: and a physical guy like Metcalf like that, good luck
- 22:27Speaker 1: And I'll just say this bump. I was so excited
- 22:32Speaker 1: when I saw the film. I'm like, please tell me
- 22:35Speaker 1: that was on five yup, Yes it was, because those
- 22:38Speaker 1: two were going at it all day. We talked about
- 22:40Speaker 1: it in the preview podcast. Anytime DK Metcalf and Jalen
- 22:43Speaker 1: Ramsey were on the field, you gotta get your popcorn ready.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Sunday did not disappoint. They were going back and forth.
- 22:49Speaker 1: At one point, DK Metcalf motion across that they come
- 22:51Speaker 1: follow me and this time it's monoi mono game on
- 22:55Speaker 1: the line. Man. That must have felt good for DK.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I wish we're not gonna get it, but if we
- 23:00Speaker 1: ever got a micd up version of between those two,
- 23:03Speaker 1: it would be something you pay for. I just love
- 23:05Speaker 1: DK Metcalf balling out. It's been a while since we've
- 23:07Speaker 1: seen him and Tyler dominate the same game, and for
- 23:09Speaker 1: him to be Jalen Ramsey, you still want the better
- 23:11Speaker 1: corners in the league in that situation, I'm here for it. Also,
- 23:15Speaker 1: what I like is when they're on the field, he's
- 23:18Speaker 1: running his mouth. DK and Ramsey post game. Hey, you
- 23:22Speaker 1: know we're just competitors. We you know, we were going
- 23:24Speaker 1: at it right. He does it the right way. You
- 23:26Speaker 1: taught that talk on the field, but you respect your opponent.
- 23:29Speaker 1: He knows Jalen Ramsey as a good football player. That's
- 23:31Speaker 1: why it's that much more special that he made to
- 23:33Speaker 1: play on him. Absolutely and bump. It's that time, that
- 23:37Speaker 1: formation that we love victory. Here comes the Seahawk offense
- 23:43Speaker 1: onto the field and the Vikings defense crunching out there
- 23:48Speaker 1: knowing that one kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna
- 23:51Speaker 1: wind the clock down and women's fun. It's the victory
- 23:54Speaker 1: formation on Hawk Talk. The Seahawks really needed this win,
- 23:58Speaker 1: ending their two game losing. It wasn't pretty at all times,
- 24:01Speaker 1: but the Hawks made the place they needed to down
- 24:04Speaker 1: the stretch. Gino Smith absolutely balled out. Finally got to
- 24:07Speaker 1: check the box of game winning drive under two minutes.
- 24:10Speaker 1: All he does is say set wreckers, prove haters wrong,
- 24:12Speaker 1: doesn't right back, does everything the Seahawks need him to do,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and he's gonna continue to do that. Huge win for
- 24:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks now at seven and five, So yeah, just
- 24:20Speaker 1: a big, big booing. Yeah, the Hawks that were banged up. Man.
- 24:23Speaker 1: DJ Dallas was banged up as well. You lose Ken
- 24:26Speaker 1: Walk or you got Tony Jones who had to hop
- 24:29Speaker 1: in there and do their thing. But that's football, man,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and we know to look at the history of running
- 24:33Speaker 1: backs with the Seattle Seahawks, guys are going to get
- 24:36Speaker 1: dinged up. So now we're just waiting to see what
- 24:38Speaker 1: Travis Homer looks like, what Ken Walker looks like. But
- 24:41Speaker 1: the fact that they were able to still be a
- 24:42Speaker 1: threat in the run game, even though it wasn't it's
- 24:44Speaker 1: pretty when it comes to the numbers, they were still
- 24:46Speaker 1: a threat this If they were not a threat in
- 24:48Speaker 1: the run game, that touchdown a dk metcap would have
- 24:51Speaker 1: been that much more difficult. You saw the way the
- 24:53Speaker 1: linebackers respected it absolutely and there's definitely room for improvement
- 24:57Speaker 1: on defense. But the Seahawks took a step in the
- 24:59Speaker 1: right direction. It did not look like the Raiders game.
- 25:02Speaker 1: The ram still ran for yardage like we talked about
- 25:04Speaker 1: earlier in this game, but it definitely looked different and
- 25:07Speaker 1: they were finally able to get pressure, which is great.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Four sacks, eight QB hits. The previous two weeks there'd
- 25:12Speaker 1: only been one sack and the win streak to Seahawks
- 25:15Speaker 1: had nineteen sacks. Was really good to see them get
- 25:17Speaker 1: back to what made them successful in that four game
- 25:19Speaker 1: win streak. And this was the best outcome when it
- 25:22Speaker 1: comes to playing Bobby Wagoner for the first time. He
- 25:25Speaker 1: was able to ball out and we were able to
- 25:27Speaker 1: get the win. Because we love Bobby Wagoner what he's
- 25:29Speaker 1: done for his organization, but he's on the other team now,
- 25:32Speaker 1: so we got the best of both worlds. Right, Bobby
- 25:34Speaker 1: had a day seven tackles, two sacks, three TFLs, a
- 25:37Speaker 1: suspect interception, but We're not gonna remember it ten years
- 25:40Speaker 1: from now. I'm just gonna go down to his interception.
- 25:42Speaker 1: So nice. So we got the w Happy that Bobby
- 25:46Speaker 1: balled out. I need him not to play as well
- 25:48Speaker 1: when we play him again with in January or something
- 25:50Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, when we see Bobby up here in Loomanfield,
- 25:52Speaker 1: it's gonna be great. It's gonna be huge standing ovation
- 25:54Speaker 1: and all that. But yeah, if he wants to play
- 25:55Speaker 1: not well, I wouldn't mind that at all. Yeah, let's
- 25:58Speaker 1: get the big win over the Rams. He's seven twenty
- 26:00Speaker 1: three they're back out of this week where the Panthers
- 26:02Speaker 1: me and bumble way back with you on Wednesday and
- 26:04Speaker 1: gets you set for that matchup. Huge victory. The Seahawks
- 26:07Speaker 1: are seven and five back in that playoff picture. It's
- 26:09Speaker 1: exactly what we need. He's Michaelbama's so NASA show. We
- 26:12Speaker 1: reminder catch us everywhere Seahawks dot com, Apple podcasts, Google, Stitcher,
- 26:16Speaker 1: everything and more. We'll be back on Wednesday. Until next time,
- 26:19Speaker 1: it's been Hawk Talk.
