- 0:00Speaker 1: Just got a brand new tattoo. It's huge. It says,
- 0:02Speaker 1: no tattoos, it's one more thing. I'm one more thing.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Or how about tattoos are stupid? That would be a
- 0:11Speaker 1: good one good tattoo? Where would you put it on
- 0:14Speaker 1: your forehead a bell or around my neck? Tatoo?
- 0:20Speaker 2: That tattoo that went viral, it says no regurirts.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that became a website. No Regrets is a website
- 0:26Speaker 3: where people post bad tattoos.
- 0:28Speaker 4: That is one of my guilty pleasures. It's been a
- 0:31Speaker 4: while since I've done it. But going to one of
- 0:32Speaker 4: those bad tattoos websites where it's either no regirts or
- 0:36Speaker 4: various misspellings, or somebody gets like their babies face tattooed
- 0:40Speaker 4: on them, but it looks like a demon because the
- 0:43Speaker 4: artist is just not that good.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Oh my god, first maybe they birthed the demon. I
- 0:50Speaker 1: don't know.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I wasn't there, but yeah, I've got to admit I've
- 0:53Speaker 4: logged some serious time with those websites.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yeah, the the tribal stuff where or where it's in
- 1:03Speaker 3: a foreign language, you know, those are often a mess.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Oh, the Chinese characters that frequently aren't what the tattoo
- 1:11Speaker 4: artist told you they were right. It says freedom of spirit,
- 1:14Speaker 4: not actually says fish thirty percent off.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah right, or something so soy sauce brand.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:22Speaker 4: So I was expressing my love for AI specifically chat
- 1:26Speaker 4: GPT just because that's the one I've tried, and I
- 1:28Speaker 4: want to try GROC and some other ones. But I thought,
- 1:31Speaker 4: all right, why not? I just asked what kind of
- 1:34Speaker 4: tattoo should I get? It told me to find the
- 1:37Speaker 4: right tattoo. Consider what resonates with you, your personal style and
- 1:41Speaker 4: any symbolic meaning you'd like to convey. Think about the
- 1:44Speaker 4: tattoo's placement, your lifestyle, and your long term comfort with
- 1:47Speaker 4: the design.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yeah, the placement thing is interesting because I've I haven't
- 1:52Speaker 3: for years, but I used to think about getting a tattoo.
- 1:55Speaker 3: It's only because I even come up with a good
- 1:56Speaker 3: choice that I never got a tattooed. I'm not anti.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I just couldn't think of any that worked for me.
- 2:02Speaker 3: But it was always like, do I want it to
- 2:03Speaker 3: be someplace visible or not? And if it's someplace it's
- 2:06Speaker 3: not visible really to anyone but me or people that
- 2:10Speaker 3: enter into a special relationship with me.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Prison guards et cetera.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Right, doctors and prison guards pretty much. Then what's the point?
- 2:20Speaker 3: I often thought, Yeah, I mean, what am I expressing
- 2:22Speaker 3: if I'm not expressing it to anybody but like two
- 2:25Speaker 3: people on earth.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I've had the same thought roughly, although I think,
- 2:31Speaker 4: you know, if I'm going to get one, and I've
- 2:33Speaker 4: considered it for years, it would probably be the classic
- 2:36Speaker 4: you know, shoulder okay, right, yeah, and that you know,
- 2:40Speaker 4: it's usually just between you and then and your companion
- 2:45Speaker 4: slash prison guard slash doctor.
- 2:47Speaker 3: You're a lot younger than us, Katie, but so it
- 2:50Speaker 3: might have been hard for you to realize this. But
- 2:52Speaker 3: back in the day, tattoos were not very many men
- 2:55Speaker 3: had tattoos. No women had tattoos. If you came across
- 2:58Speaker 3: a tattoo a woman with a tattoo, that was crazy.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And not even that many men did. But my uncle
- 3:05Speaker 3: had a tattoo when I was a kid, and I
- 3:06Speaker 3: always thought it was so cool. He was a really
- 3:08Speaker 3: buff dude, and he was a marine and fought in
- 3:10Speaker 3: Vietnam and he had a bulldog on his arm, and
- 3:12Speaker 3: I always just thought that was so bad ass. But
- 3:13Speaker 3: he was a badass guy. He can put that same
- 3:15Speaker 3: bulldog on me, and it wouldn't be the same thing.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Oh so you like bulldogs, right, they are such pretty dogs.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I remember when they were frowned upon and growing up,
- 3:26Speaker 2: my parents both were very wary of me getting them.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm telling you, I've said this to people before,
- 3:32Speaker 3: younger people, and they can't believe it. Like, I worked
- 3:33Speaker 3: at a bar for years. If a girl, like a
- 3:36Speaker 3: big nightclub, country club, like three hundred people on a
- 3:38Speaker 3: Saturday night, if a woman had walked in with tattoos,
- 3:43Speaker 3: everybody would have been talking in the entire bar.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It would have been so shocking.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And I know, and all sorts of assumptions made oh
- 3:52Speaker 4: so honestly might have at the time been fairly accurate.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Probably it's funny because that's sounds terrible to say. But no,
- 4:01Speaker 4: we all intentionally and semi intentionally send each other social
- 4:05Speaker 4: signals about who we are, the way we'd like to
- 4:08Speaker 4: be seen, uh, you know, every day through what we
- 4:11Speaker 4: wear and the way we look in our hair and whatever.
- 4:14Speaker 3: That's one of the interesting things about tattoos is it's
- 4:17Speaker 3: certainly lost its edginess. You if you're a I'll go
- 4:21Speaker 3: with girls again. But if you're a if you're a
- 4:23Speaker 3: female with a tattoo. It does not signify I'm on
- 4:26Speaker 3: the edge and kind of live life the way I want,
- 4:29Speaker 3: because you could be as vanilla, mainstream, normal, culled a
- 4:33Speaker 3: sac suburban, safe as it gets, and be a tattoo person.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Now am I right now?
- 4:39Speaker 2: It's defined by the type of tattoo you. Yeah, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 2: if you're the vanilla and very dainty and whatnot. They
- 4:44Speaker 2: have the very dainty style tattoos.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I have a dolphin now, I like dolphins. Yeah, a
- 4:49Speaker 1: dolphin on my ankle.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I figured that because you have a dolphin. Uh, you know,
- 4:53Speaker 4: I'm looking at the chat chepet advice. It's very thorough
- 4:58Speaker 4: tips for choosing a tat meaning a symbolism, personal style, placement,
- 5:02Speaker 4: long term comfort research, tattoo artists.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Take your time.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Here are different styles and they have like six or
- 5:08Speaker 4: seven different styles.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Things to consider a cost pain. The pain level can very.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Depending on the location, size of the tattoo, as well
- 5:15Speaker 4: as your individual pain tolerance.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I was thought about getting an American flag on my
- 5:23Speaker 3: arm in the traditional place, like after nine to eleven
- 5:27Speaker 3: when we were all being extra patriotic, and then somebody said,
- 5:30Speaker 3: really should be only if you're in the military, and
- 5:32Speaker 3: I thought, yeah, you're probably right.
- 5:33Speaker 4: So I disagree with that, but I agree with that.
- 5:37Speaker 4: I stand ready to be talked off that point.
- 5:39Speaker 1: But no, I disagree with that. Yeah, I didn't want
- 5:42Speaker 1: to be a proposer.
- 5:42Speaker 3: I didn't want to be a military poser at the
- 5:44Speaker 3: time when people were like joining up and everything like that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, fair enough to teach their own. I've thought of
- 5:50Speaker 1: like getting.
- 5:51Speaker 3: A poser in all kinds of Otherwise, I don't want to
- 5:53Speaker 3: be a I'm in the military patriotic poser. I don't
- 5:58Speaker 3: want to be that kind of poser. You know.
- 6:01Speaker 4: That's funny speaking of tattoos and posers and my my son.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I won't bory you.
- 6:08Speaker 4: With the specifics, but he made a poster that included
- 6:12Speaker 4: a cartoon of a dude with a cigarette and sunglasses,
- 6:16Speaker 4: and the caption was so punk it's poser. So poser,
- 6:22Speaker 4: it's punk. That was an interesting, interesting concept. So the
- 6:30Speaker 4: horshoe theory, So the pain, how would you describe the pain,
- 6:34Speaker 4: Katie uh Of? I mean, it's not like you've gotten
- 6:38Speaker 4: face tattoos or there are certain parts of the body
- 6:41Speaker 4: people get tattoos. I can't even imagine. Ay y and B.
- 6:45Speaker 4: That's kind of hurt like fire.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But yeah, it's it's uncomfortable. It definitely does depend on
- 6:51Speaker 2: where and I have had plenty of very and I
- 6:54Speaker 2: will tell you the ribs.
- 6:57Speaker 1: You yeah, I have.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I have a tattoo that goes right across the front
- 7:03Speaker 2: and then on the side. Kind of mind is that.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I've heard people use the phrase I don't say this word,
- 7:08Speaker 3: but it starts with a T and refers to women's
- 7:12Speaker 3: body parts a T chandelier.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It's not that, is it.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Uh, well, it's the podcast, so you can.
- 7:24Speaker 3: But I don't say that word even on the podcast.
- 7:25Speaker 3: I don't say that word in my real life.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Is that the word? No, no, no, no, higher up,
- 7:32Speaker 1: you won't say tit.
- 7:33Speaker 2: You won't say tit.
- 7:34Speaker 1: No, you're a boy. It is useless as tits on
- 7:38Speaker 1: a boar. Go ahead and say.
- 7:40Speaker 3: That T I T t y chandelier. I've heard that phrase.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Oh, I've heard that.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Oh you haven't google it. There's a there are websites
- 7:47Speaker 3: for just those.
- 7:48Speaker 1: They're so popular. Talking about boobies.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Considering mine says I love my mother and Gaelic. I
- 7:53Speaker 2: hope it's not a titty chandelier.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe she was a great breastfeeder. Way
- 8:02Speaker 1: when you say it sounds funny.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't use that term just because it's childish
- 8:07Speaker 4: and like it reminds me of adolescent boys who've never
- 8:09Speaker 4: been with a woman.
- 8:10Speaker 1: But right I feel like I'm above that word. Wow.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Okay, well you know what you probably are, uh my, uh, Well,
- 8:17Speaker 4: a person I am very close with genetically has a
- 8:22Speaker 4: tattoo in the rib cageal area. It is a quote
- 8:26Speaker 4: from a favorite book and a comfort through the years.
- 8:31Speaker 4: That particular quote.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Well, someone, a female was telling me. This was after
- 8:36Speaker 3: Saint Patrick's Day. They brought up the fact that they
- 8:38Speaker 3: have an ass adjacent shamrock and uh and that that's
- 8:46Speaker 3: what started me on the whole. If nobody ever sees
- 8:48Speaker 3: it except you know, like your husband or whatever, what
- 8:52Speaker 3: is what are you doing? Is it for you? I
- 8:54Speaker 3: guess it's for you.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's your own thing. Or it's a party trick,
- 9:00Speaker 2: a party trick. Hey, look what I got.
- 9:05Speaker 4: That's some party Uh. Any other tattoos you or grat
- 9:08Speaker 4: Katie he as the lone tattooed member of the crew.
- 9:12Speaker 2: It's it's kind of and it's also the way that
- 9:14Speaker 2: it happened. We were in Hawaii. I was in high
- 9:17Speaker 2: school and we just so happened to run into Nicky
- 9:22Speaker 2: Six's nanny who was watching the kids while.
- 9:25Speaker 4: He was.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Cruise.
- 9:29Speaker 2: His nanny. Yeah, he and his nanny, they were out
- 9:33Speaker 2: and about, the nanny stuck around. Mom ended up talking
- 9:36Speaker 2: to nanny and deciding she had to have a tattoo.
- 9:39Speaker 2: That was how we ended up there. And we ended
- 9:41Speaker 2: up in the shop and my mom got her dolphin
- 9:43Speaker 2: that's jumping over a shamrock, which I know you've heard
- 9:46Speaker 2: me say this before, but she always said is going
- 9:48Speaker 2: to end up as an eel in a palm tree.
- 9:54Speaker 2: And I apparently just wouldn't shut up about wanting a tattoo,
- 9:58Speaker 2: and my dad said, fine, you want one so bad,
- 10:00Speaker 2: let's do it. And I decided on two hearts next
- 10:04Speaker 2: to each other, one filled in like the American flag,
- 10:06Speaker 2: the other filled in like the Irish flag.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Unfortunately, no, it.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Wasn't a horrible idea, except for the tattoo artist did
- 10:14Speaker 2: the American flag vertically so it looks like Puerto Rico.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Oh.
- 10:19Speaker 4: The Irish and Puerto Ricans have a long history of
- 10:22Speaker 4: cooperating on many projects.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Right, And that's one of the many jokes that happens.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Now.
- 10:27Speaker 2: It's just it turned into this whole thing. My dad
- 10:30Speaker 2: and the second, the second that tattoo gun touched me,
- 10:34Speaker 2: I came about three inches off the table and I
- 10:36Speaker 2: looked at my dad and you went, nope, gotta finish.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I was like, oh no, and it was Yeah, it
- 10:41Speaker 2: was a learning lesson as well.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah, And then I also have a k on my
- 10:48Speaker 2: shoulder in case I forget what my initials are.
- 10:50Speaker 1: I don't know, Yah, I don't know.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I feel like it feels like beastings, Like if you've
- 10:57Speaker 2: ever been stung by a bee, just imagine that happening
- 10:59Speaker 2: a lot and can kind of the heat from afterwards. Yeah.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I kind of like the sleeved look on a lot
- 11:05Speaker 1: of people.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I don't think it would look good on me, but
- 11:07Speaker 3: on some people, I think it looks really good.
- 11:08Speaker 2: My dad just finished his sleeve, okay, and once they
- 11:12Speaker 2: got to that elbow bone, things were not so funny anymore.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He did one arm like most people do.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, his whole left arm is done in the traditional
- 11:23Speaker 2: Hawaiian tribal because my parents spend a lot of time
- 11:26Speaker 2: over there.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Oh cool, Yeah, yeah, I like the sleep thing and that, Like,
- 11:31Speaker 3: but what would be the rough cost on that to
- 11:33Speaker 3: get sleeved in a whole arm?
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It depends on what you get, but I mean easily
- 11:40Speaker 2: five grand, easily five thousand dollars, Yeah, depending on what
- 11:43Speaker 2: you have done.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Because I have a piece on my shoulder that
- 11:49Speaker 2: goes from just above my elbow up to the right
- 11:52Speaker 2: to the top of my shoulder, and that was about
- 11:54Speaker 2: I think eight to fifty.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I feel like I've got the weird on the back
- 11:58Speaker 3: side of tat two's age thing going to it just
- 12:02Speaker 3: wouldn't matter. I mean, there's nothing edgy at all I
- 12:05Speaker 3: could get. Whatever kind of tattoos is gonna have no
- 12:07Speaker 3: effect on my career at this point or anything or
- 12:10Speaker 3: my dating because I'm old.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I mean, so it's just like it'd be like, what's
- 12:13Speaker 1: the point.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Why don't you ask Kanye West for a suggestion or two?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, for tattoos. I'm well past the age of being
- 12:21Speaker 1: able to make a statement that anybody would care about.
- 12:24Speaker 1: So it's just like, may, what would I be doing
- 12:26Speaker 1: if you showed up with a couple of neck tattoos?
- 12:28Speaker 1: I think people would down face tat face tat would
- 12:30Speaker 1: get attention.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yet I kind of want one of you guys to
- 12:33Speaker 2: get one to see, you know, what it's.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Like with my head.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I could do some pretty interesting things over my noo
- 12:39Speaker 3: hair and a round head. Charlie brownhadicking like the sphere
- 12:42Speaker 3: in Vegas, you know, like an eyeball or something like
- 12:44Speaker 3: that big eyeball.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That's horrible.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Wow, people consider that on the back of my head,
- 12:54Speaker 3: my shaved head.
- 12:55Speaker 4: It's a big iro of eyes. How about a pair
- 12:57Speaker 4: of eyes? Oh, the entire face, yes, and hair and everything.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:01Speaker 4: And they got a play like your Voldemort's spoiler alert
- 13:05Speaker 4: in the first Harry Potter moving hmm, very traumatic reveal.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Do you remember the little person tattoo on Fantasy Island.
- 13:12Speaker 1: We'll get a tattoo of him, tattoo of tattoo tattoos. Well,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I guess that's it.
