Latest / The Next Round / The Next Round: Ole Miss Stuns LSU, Trinidad Chambliss Shines + Alabama, Kentucky & NFL Week 2 | Hour 1
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: And as always, the next round presented by Hard Rock
- 0:04Speaker 1: Bets on Sport and State. We'll get into Alabama. We'll
- 0:09Speaker 1: get into the worst loss in NC State football history.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Maybe the one loss, the worst loss ever. Everything else
- 0:14Speaker 1: in an amazing weekend of college football. Big wins for
- 0:17Speaker 1: Kentucky and Mississippi State. Huge schedule coming up this week,
- 0:22Speaker 1: including Texas at Tennessee and Oregon at USC. But I
- 0:26Speaker 1: don't know if he's walking around Oxford, Mississippi with his
- 0:31Speaker 1: Two big testicles in a wheelbarrow.
- 0:34Speaker 2: But is it a wheelbarrow or a wheelbarrow? Wheelbarrow. Barrow.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Barrow with a W.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Either way, you use them to carry big things that
- 0:42Speaker 1: you can't lift on your own. And Pete Golding's had
- 0:44Speaker 1: to sit his in that wheelbarrow this weekend and roll
- 0:47Speaker 1: him around. That two-point call, do you think, quickly before
- 0:51Speaker 1: we jump into the game, if LSU hadn't have jumped
- 0:53Speaker 1: off sides, do they run a two-point play or do
- 0:56Speaker 1: they take a delay and kick an extra point?
- 0:58Speaker 2: I would think that they take the delay and kick
- 0:59Speaker 2: the extra point.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I couldn't believe with the way LSU had come on
- 1:03Speaker 3: in the second half that they were going to go
- 1:05Speaker 3: for two in that situation.
- 1:06Speaker 4: I was just hoping he didn't call timeout because I'm like,
- 1:09Speaker 4: take the delay, don't burn a timeout here. The delay
- 1:11Speaker 4: is really not going to impact you and you might
- 1:13Speaker 4: need that timeout. Like, I don't understand when coaches do
- 1:16Speaker 4: that at, like, When they set up to maybe.
- 1:20Speaker 2: He wasn't going to make that mistake, yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I would hope not, but I see coaches do it
- 1:23Speaker 4: all the time, just say the five yards like out
- 1:24Speaker 4: at midfield. I'm like, man, timeouts.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So do you think he was going to go for
- 1:28Speaker 1: it or kick it? Take a delay and kick it
- 1:30Speaker 1: or go for it.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I think it was take a delay and kick it.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he would have had to. Like, you
- 1:34Speaker 3: go for that, you don't get it. They come down
- 1:36Speaker 3: and win by a point. Now, I loved it because
- 1:37Speaker 3: I had Ole Miss plus three and a half.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Back to the gambling.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 2: So, three and a half.
- 1:42Speaker 3: So, you know, I didn't really want overtime at all.
- 1:44Speaker 2: That would have taken it off the table. That would
- 1:46Speaker 2: have definitely taken it off the table. So, I didn't
- 1:48Speaker 2: mind it at all.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I was pulling hard for Ole Miss as I think
- 1:51Speaker 3: the majority of the country was.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So, I loved it once they got it in.
- 1:55Speaker 1: A lot of people are playing that almost– It was
- 1:58Speaker 1: almost like kryptonite to Lane Kiffin, too, because he knew
- 2:02Speaker 1: how aggressive Lane would have been if he had scored
- 2:05Speaker 1: a touchdown. If he had kicked that extra point, they'd
- 2:07Speaker 1: drive down and scored a touchdown. Pete, being around Lane
- 2:10Speaker 1: long enough, knew that they would have gone for two
- 2:13Speaker 1: in that situation.
- 2:14Speaker 2: To win. To walk it off. To walk it off.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you beat Lane at his own game in a
- 2:17Speaker 4: lot of ways, right? So at that point, the best
- 2:20Speaker 4: they're doing is playing for a tie. I just thought
- 2:22Speaker 4: it was brilliant. You were worried going in, as we
- 2:25Speaker 4: all were, would the game live up to the hype?
- 2:27Speaker 1: 100% it did.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Fantastic game.
- 2:30Speaker 4: It looked early.
- 2:31Speaker 2: 17-0.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Ole Miss was going to just walk them off the
- 2:34Speaker 3: field because Sam Leavitt is one of these quarterbacks that...
- 2:38Speaker 3: I just don't think you can trust him week in,
- 2:39Speaker 3: week out. I think he is just too careless with
- 2:41Speaker 3: the football. He's fun to watch. He's tough.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But, boy, he is.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Careless with the football. And I thought early on this
- 2:48Speaker 3: thing might get away from LSU altogether. I gave him
- 2:50Speaker 3: a lot of credit for them to storm back. And, yeah,
- 2:52Speaker 3: it lived up to the hype.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Yeah, when it was 17-0, I feared it wasn't going to, though.
- 2:56Speaker 4: I mean, like, I had not packed it in on LSU.
- 3:00Speaker 4: But Trinidad Chambliss was dealing. Sometimes you can play the
- 3:04Speaker 4: best defense you want to play. If you've got an
- 3:06Speaker 4: elite quarterback dealing, there's really not much stopping him. And
- 3:09Speaker 4: I kind of thought that's where we were Saturday night.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I saw our buddy Ken West at Walcons, and he
- 3:14Speaker 3: was like, he's the best quarterback in the country.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah. I said, he's one of
- 3:17Speaker 2: those guys. We've talked about this before. I'm right at 6'3.
- 3:21Speaker 2: I will sell him three inches right now for a really,
- 3:24Speaker 2: really good price point.
- 3:25Speaker 3: He would be by far the first overall quarterback taken
- 3:28Speaker 3: if he had that height.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I just don't know if it's going to matter. I
- 3:30Speaker 4: think NFL teams are going to take this kid.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Oh, they will.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I know what you're saying, but the way Bryce Young's playing,
- 3:37Speaker 4: take Trinidad Chambliss. That guy can flat out ball.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Let's hear from the coaches and then continue to break
- 3:43Speaker 1: down this massive win for Ole Miss. But before we
- 3:46Speaker 1: even hear about Pete Golding, the entire sports world, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: I think even NFL people are talking about this, is
- 3:54Speaker 1: that Ole Miss gets this massive win on national television.
- 3:57Speaker 1: They don't jump all the way to number one, but
- 3:59Speaker 1: they jump to number four in the polls. And they
- 4:03Speaker 1: opened as a one-and-a-half point underdog at Florida. That is swollen, swelled,
- 4:08Speaker 1: to three-and-a-half. Florida's a three-and-a-half point favorite at Ole Miss.
- 4:13Speaker 1: tried to sell me on life in the Big Ten
- 4:17Speaker 1: is as tough as life in the SEC. I just
- 4:20Speaker 1: got this monumental win, and now I open as a
- 4:24Speaker 1: point-and-a-half underdog, and it is up to three-and-a-half.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I've been around you long enough.
- 4:28Speaker 1: To– this looks like I could go ahead and write
- 4:32Speaker 1: this in ink in a loss column for Ole Miss almost, right?
- 4:34Speaker 2: Probably, yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I mean, well, look, I think Florida– I'm not going
- 4:37Speaker 3: to say they're the Indiana of the SEC under John Summerall.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I think we've kind of anointed that to Will Stein,
- 4:45Speaker 3: and I know we'll get to Kentucky's upset over Texas
- 4:47Speaker 3: A & M, but this is a really good Florida team.
- 4:48Speaker 2: That game was never in doubt in Jordan Hare on
- 4:50Speaker 2: Saturday night. But what is the point spread telling me?
- 4:52Speaker 3: Well, it's telling you Kiwan Lacy's not going to play.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I think that's why it went from one and a
- 4:56Speaker 3: half to three. He's got a shoulder.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that should have been a pick, but.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Now going up to three, I think it just shows
- 5:01Speaker 3: you their second-best player is not going to play.
- 5:03Speaker 4: We've talked all offseason long, though, about the week following
- 5:07Speaker 4: this game, and that's what Ole Miss has to deal
- 5:09Speaker 4: with now. I thought win or lose was going to
- 5:11Speaker 4: be tough. Now I had no– idea Kentucky was going
- 5:13Speaker 4: to beat Texas A & M which kind of that
- 5:15Speaker 4: LSU A & M game super weird now but I
- 5:18Speaker 4: mean we had talked about the week following and I
- 5:21Speaker 4: and really of the two because LSU gets A &
- 5:23Speaker 4: M at home I thought this was the tougher of
- 5:25Speaker 4: the two spots Ole Miss having to go to Florida
- 5:27Speaker 4: and whether Florida wins or loses in Jordan Hare that
- 5:30Speaker 4: was just going to be a tough spot for Ole
- 5:31Speaker 4: Miss win or lose.
- 5:32Speaker 1: In this game for either team here's Pete Golding on
- 5:35Speaker 1: the emotions of just what this one meant to Ole
- 5:39Speaker 1: Miss and their fan base.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Pete, I know you guys were kind of playing down
- 5:44Speaker 6: the lane stuff all week, but does this one mean
- 5:46Speaker 6: a little bit more?
- 5:47Speaker 7: And I guess what kind of emotions are you feeling
- 5:49Speaker 7: right now?
- 5:50Speaker 8: You know, I mean, I just told our team in there,
- 5:52Speaker 8: I was like, look, I don't think anybody came here
- 5:55Speaker 8: to beat LSU. I mean, that's not what our goal
- 5:58Speaker 8: was coming in and working so hard in the offseason summer.
- 6:00Speaker 7: It wasn't just a win one football game. I told them, yes,
- 6:03Speaker 7: is it sweet? Absolutely.
- 6:05Speaker 8: And go enjoy, you know, it's a night for sure.
- 6:07Speaker 8: But We got to come back to work tomorrow. We
- 6:09Speaker 8: got a really, really good Florida team next week. And
- 6:11Speaker 8: so it wasn't the Super Bowl, and we didn't make
- 6:13Speaker 8: it to be the Super Bowl. I think the goals
- 6:16Speaker 8: and the expectations that Glenn and Keith have set for
- 6:19Speaker 8: this place isn't about winning one football game in September.
- 6:23Speaker 7: And so am I super proud of them? Absolutely.
- 6:26Speaker 8: But that's three years since we've been here that we've
- 6:29Speaker 8: come home with that trophy.
- 6:30Speaker 7: I mean, that's an expectation here, as it should be.
- 6:33Speaker 8: And so really proud of our guys and our coaches,
- 6:36Speaker 8: really happy for our fans.
- 6:39Speaker 7: I couldn't be happier for Glenn and for Keith.
- 6:42Speaker 8: I'm really grateful for the opportunity they presented to me,
- 6:44Speaker 8: which they didn't have to. And I think it was
- 6:46Speaker 8: a full circle moment for a lot of people that
- 6:49Speaker 8: no player, no person's bigger than anybody else. And this
- 6:52Speaker 8: place has been built the right way with really good people.
- 6:54Speaker 8: And the trajectory is up. And that's where it's going
- 6:56Speaker 8: to continue to go.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Let me tell you, hey, before the half, the way
- 7:01Speaker 1: he coaches before the half, instead of, you know, playing
- 7:05Speaker 1: to settle for three, or just taking it into the
- 7:08Speaker 1: locker room. He let them be aggressive, drive down that field.
- 7:12Speaker 1: They got into an easy field goal situation with their kicker,
- 7:15Speaker 1: and they go on with 11 seconds and no timeout,
- 7:17Speaker 1: throw a touchdown pass to go into the locker room
- 7:20Speaker 1: with that lead.
- 7:23Speaker 2: All gas, no brakes with this guy. Yeah. Well, I mean,
- 7:25Speaker 2: it helps when you've got Trinidad Chambliss, right?
- 7:27Speaker 7: Right.
- 7:28Speaker 3: But I do see a lot of defensive head coaches
- 7:30Speaker 3: that like to gamble, which is really, really odd because
- 7:33Speaker 3: you would think that they would play it the other
- 7:34Speaker 3: way and be a little bit more conservative.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Sometimes if you know how good your defense is, right?
- 7:38Speaker 1: If you've got a good plan.
- 7:39Speaker 4: But a lot of times the guy he really cut
- 7:41Speaker 4: his teeth coaching for played it the other way. I mean,
- 7:43Speaker 4: Nick Saban wasn't terribly aggressive. A lot of times he'd
- 7:47Speaker 4: go to the locker room with timeouts in his pocket.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So it was kind of the opposite of the Saban way. Again...
- 7:53Speaker 4: Kind of beating Lane at Lane's own game there.
- 7:55Speaker 3: And I know Brooks put this graphic out, and it
- 7:57Speaker 3: was pretty awesome. He's got four top ten wins, four
- 8:00Speaker 3: rank wins in his first six games as a head coach.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin now, what, 0-4 against top ten teams?
- 8:06Speaker 4: But, I mean, Pete Golding, from the jump, handled all
- 8:10Speaker 4: of this the proper way. All of it, the proper way. Hey,
- 8:12Speaker 4: and so too did the Ole Miss fans. I know
- 8:14Speaker 4: there's going to be stories pop up that there was
- 8:16Speaker 4: a fight.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Here or this, that.
- 8:18Speaker 7: Sure.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I haven't heard anything.
- 8:19Speaker 1: But the fact that they did not rush the field
- 8:24Speaker 1: afterwards had to sting Lane Kiffin more than the loss itself.
- 8:28Speaker 5: It did.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I agree.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I had someone at church tell me yesterday.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Dunaway nailed it.
- 8:33Speaker 4: And I was like, well, Dunaway nailed it. This ought
- 8:35Speaker 4: to be good. And he's like, them not rushing the
- 8:37Speaker 4: field was the thing Lane Kiffin will hate the most.
- 8:40Speaker 4: And I was like, Jim did get that right. You're
- 8:42Speaker 4: absolutely right about that.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Did you say that last week? I didn't hear it. No,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you tweeted it.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I tweeted it right afterwards because I was texting Brown
- 8:47Speaker 1: in the final few seconds. I go, field rush? And
- 8:51Speaker 1: then they didn't rush. And I was like, boy, that
- 8:54Speaker 1: is because you watched and Lane lived it. He watched
- 8:58Speaker 1: any time there was a loss, Alabama got rushed. And
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know he wants to be Nick Saban. You know
- 9:05Speaker 1: he wants to build LSU into that.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I never thought about it. I really never thought about it.
- 9:08Speaker 2: You never thought they'd rush the field? I never thought
- 9:10Speaker 2: they would rush the field. I really didn't.
- 9:12Speaker 4: I never thought of the consequences, the message, if they
- 9:14Speaker 4: did or didn't until you pointed it out. When you
- 9:16Speaker 4: pointed it out, I'm like, you're spot on.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah, now that you guys are talking about it, it
- 9:20Speaker 3: would have been really, really bad.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I mean, that would have almost... i mean it's validated.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Him it would have validated lane as the guy in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the in college.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I mean i can't tell what's ai and what's not
- 9:30Speaker 3: did he really say something about the fan showing up
- 9:32Speaker 3: an hour before the game oh.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Yeah that's right that's 100 that's lane.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Yeah this is so awesome i just i hope he
- 9:39Speaker 3: follows up with a lawsuit against a and m give
- 9:41Speaker 3: me give me cut 13 tyler instead of 12 here
- 9:43Speaker 3: let's do 13 here's lane kiffin on the environment inside
- 9:47Speaker 3: the stadium and uh And you tell me if this
- 9:50Speaker 3: just doesn't play into what we're just talking about.
- 9:51Speaker 1: This guy wanted the field rush if they lost the game.
- 9:54Speaker 9: I think he walked into a storm, you know, like
- 9:56Speaker 9: that's what happens a lot of times in these games.
- 9:58Speaker 9: um you see it all the time we call him
- 10:00Speaker 9: buzz saw you walk in it's a build-up you know
- 10:03Speaker 9: the stadium was full you know an hour early so
- 10:08Speaker 9: i guess i had to leave to get him to
- 10:09Speaker 9: do that so you're welcome um But yeah, it was,
- 10:14Speaker 9: and then Trinidad early was on fire, and they got
- 10:17Speaker 9: us in third down and really rushed really well. Echols,
- 10:20Speaker 9: I thought, played a really good game and made it
- 10:24Speaker 9: really hard.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I think he hates the fact that people hate him now,
- 10:28Speaker 2: but he can't get out of his own way.
- 10:29Speaker 4: He's got to make it about himself. I mean, he
- 10:31Speaker 4: was even joking. He laughed when he said it, but
- 10:34Speaker 4: there's always going to be something about him in it.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Is it Ben Wallace? What's the guy's name? Troy Pistons?
- 10:40Speaker 1: No, the guy that The guy on the court, on
- 10:42Speaker 1: the field that got into it with Lane.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. That reporter. I can't remember his name.
- 10:50Speaker 4: It's Ben Garrett.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Ben Garrett, yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So Ben Garrett, I saw him on with Sisky and Neal,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and he was talking about how Lane really gets into wrestling,
- 11:00Speaker 1: like he likes wrestling.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I can see that.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And you just watch the way he does social media
- 11:07Speaker 1: and interviews and things like that. He loves to play
- 11:11Speaker 1: the heel. He loves to be that character. And in
- 11:14Speaker 1: that interview, the guy's like, Lane's one of those people
- 11:18Speaker 1: that the word, and that's why not rushing the field
- 11:21Speaker 1: really echoes. He goes, he's one of those people when
- 11:23Speaker 1: he walks in the room, the worst thing for Lane
- 11:26Speaker 1: is silence. He wants to walk into the room and
- 11:29Speaker 1: people need to be cheering or booing him. He doesn't
- 11:32Speaker 1: want to walk in and nobody react to him walking
- 11:34Speaker 1: into the room. And I thought that was spot on.
- 11:36Speaker 4: I mean, President Trump will go places with less security
- 11:39Speaker 4: than he had walking on and off that field.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but I didn't see, you know, not one issue occasionally.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Arm what has he done to deserve any of this
- 11:47Speaker 3: man i mean i can't he left i know another
- 11:49Speaker 3: big game that he loses i mean he just loses
- 11:52Speaker 3: every big game.
- 11:53Speaker 4: He coaches i i texted the group because before the
- 11:56Speaker 4: game started if you were watching on 4k so when
- 11:59Speaker 4: they go to 4k on espn we don't get commercials
- 12:02Speaker 4: and you only get silence and there was just a
- 12:04Speaker 4: field level camera is all they were showing was a
- 12:06Speaker 4: field level camera on about the 10 if i've got
- 12:09Speaker 4: my bearings right it was near the And just during
- 12:16Speaker 4: the commercial break, all you see is one of those
- 12:17Speaker 4: little armbands just fly down and land on the field,
- 12:19Speaker 4: still blinking.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I saw your text on that.
- 12:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it was still, you could just see it land
- 12:23Speaker 4: right there.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I have it on the 4K, but, you know, it
- 12:25Speaker 2: commercials what paid attention.
- 12:26Speaker 4: And it's still blinking when it lands. And I'm like, well,
- 12:28Speaker 4: maybe Scott's right. Maybe this is what they'll throw at him.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But, I mean, 12 years, there was 12 years from
- 12:33Speaker 1: when he left Tennessee and went back the first time.
- 12:35Speaker 1: And you remember the reaction of the Tennessee fans. The
- 12:38Speaker 1: throwing of the golf balls and the water bottles.
- 12:40Speaker 2: That game played out perfectly for that, though.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but in this game here, there was never a
- 12:45Speaker 1: stoppage of play for anything like that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: No fights, really?
- 12:48Speaker 1: I just thought that was the ultimate slap in the face.
- 12:52Speaker 1: To the game itself... Can I just say, though, you've
- 12:55Speaker 1: got to give Pete Golden credit for a lot of that.
- 12:57Speaker 1: He had his team.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 12:59Speaker 4: They talked about it all day on game day. Nick
- 13:00Speaker 4: Saban said it a couple times. Pete Golden said what
- 13:03Speaker 4: coach would always tell us, talking about Nick Saban.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Is it's fine... to have.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Emotion, just don't be emotional. Like, play with emotion, but
- 13:12Speaker 4: don't be emotional. And separate the emotion you play with
- 13:16Speaker 4: from the emotional outbursts that will cost you 15 yards.
- 13:19Speaker 4: And I think you've got to credit, and really credit
- 13:21Speaker 4: Lane Kiffin, too, for this part of it, but certainly
- 13:23Speaker 4: Pete Golding. That was an emotional scene, and his team
- 13:26Speaker 4: never got caught up in the emotion and did something stupid.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 13:30Speaker 4: So, I mean, that's a credit to Pete Golding and
- 13:31Speaker 4: his coaching staff.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I thought ESPN missed an opportunity. Like, they should have done.
- 13:36Speaker 3: a camera all day long or at least gopros and
- 13:39Speaker 3: like you know this is an unrated on the growth
- 13:42Speaker 3: yeah we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna have all this
- 13:44Speaker 3: pregame because especially with all the delays we had on
- 13:47Speaker 3: saturday like i don't know about you guys yeah but
- 13:49Speaker 3: i was just baffled like trying to figure out what
- 13:52Speaker 3: was going on where and switching.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Up tvs i told brown i was like you know
- 13:57Speaker 1: i i roll with a three tv setup and i
- 13:59Speaker 1: didn't really want a quad box three three games i
- 14:01Speaker 1: wanted on my main tv And they ended up all three,
- 14:04Speaker 1: they were being played at the same time.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I know. And I was like, dadgummit. It all worked out.
- 14:08Speaker 2: And they were all pretty good, too. They were all
- 14:10Speaker 2: pretty good. You couldn't really ignore one of them.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And all I could think about is, you know what?
- 14:12Speaker 3: We never have weather delays in the NFL until yesterday.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And then I started thinking about Tampa's the only team
- 14:17Speaker 3: in the NFL that has weather delays.
- 14:19Speaker 2: It's a rain every day. A lot of lightning.
- 14:20Speaker 1: They named the hockey team after it. More on the
- 14:23Speaker 1: actual game on the field after I remind you. Our
- 14:25Speaker 1: show brought to you by HardRock.bet. HardRock.bet backslash Clay. HardRock.bet

- 15:11Speaker 1: hardrock.bet backslash clay. Trinidad Chambliss in this game was fearless.
- 15:19Speaker 1: He was 33 of 48, 363, three total touchdowns, one interception.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And as good as he was, I thought Ole Miss'
- 15:29Speaker 1: defense was equally as impressive. LSU had just two plays
- 15:34Speaker 1: of 20 or more yards. They kept everything corralled in
- 15:38Speaker 1: front of them. And, yes, LSU had the ball and
- 15:40Speaker 1: a chance to run and tie it at the end,
- 15:43Speaker 1: but it never got too big for Ole Miss' defense.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And I think that says something about their staying power
- 15:49Speaker 1: in the playoff race.
- 15:50Speaker 4: They don't look like– I mean, it is so early
- 15:54Speaker 4: to make the words three games in, Lance, but they
- 15:56Speaker 4: don't look like a team that's going to fall apart
- 15:58Speaker 4: because their coach left. They look like they've got continuity.
- 16:02Speaker 4: And they're thriving in absent of the coach that built
- 16:06Speaker 4: it up. I mean, everybody wants to compare it to
- 16:09Speaker 4: a Larry Coker situation. And I know Coker won right away,
- 16:12Speaker 4: and it all looked good until he didn't. This feels different.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Maybe if I go back to the Larry Coker era,
- 16:18Speaker 4: I would say, well, that felt good, too.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:20Speaker 4: This does not feel like a Larry Coker situation.
- 16:22Speaker 2: It feels different. Look, and obviously Miami had a ton
- 16:24Speaker 2: of talent.
- 16:24Speaker 3: But you look at Trinidad Chambliss, as good as he is,
- 16:27Speaker 3: I think you can take more risk if you're Pete Golding.
- 16:30Speaker 2: But that defense has still got a ton of speed.
- 16:32Speaker 3: And to hold LSU to 330 yards and to have
- 16:35Speaker 3: them seven points at halftime, that was very, very impressive.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I agree.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I think they've got staying power. The problem is the schedule.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I don't know how many teams aren't going to lose
- 16:45Speaker 3: two or three games this year.
- 16:46Speaker 4: The problem is they play in the SEC and they're
- 16:47Speaker 4: going to lose some games. But everybody's going to do
- 16:49Speaker 4: that in the SEC.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I'm with Lance.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I mean, we're three weeks in. It's hard to believe
- 16:53Speaker 4: somebody's going to go unscathed in this whole deal. So,
- 16:56Speaker 4: you know, you're going to drop a game or two.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 4: But that's no longer a death penalty now.
- 17:02Speaker 1: The Jesus One t-shirt is still on Trinidad Chambliss. He
- 17:06Speaker 1: did drop a– I don't think it's a biblical cuss word.
- 17:11Speaker 1: You know, it's just that we consider it a nasty word.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I don't know that the Bible addresses cuss words necessarily.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That's something we have made taboo.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I think finally, and I appreciate that society has– Everybody
- 17:21Speaker 3: talks like this, so if people say it, it's not
- 17:24Speaker 3: a big deal. It was obviously premeditated there.
- 17:28Speaker 1: It did seem to send Fowler for a little. It
- 17:31Speaker 1: knocked Fowler off his footing a little bit, but he rallied.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Well, he's giving all the glory to God, and then
- 17:36Speaker 3: he drops the F-bomb.
- 17:37Speaker 2: It was a weird contrast, yes.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Hottie F and Tottie coming from that guy, but hey.
- 17:44Speaker 1: It wasn't the Lord's name in vain, and he went
- 17:47Speaker 1: out there and played within himself and put up a
- 17:50Speaker 1: big victory. Here's now your Heisman Trophy leading favorite, Trinidad Chambliss.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Trinidad, I know you guys are process-oriented when you try
- 17:58Speaker 6: to take the emotion out of it, and you didn't
- 18:00Speaker 6: sign up to just beat LSU. But now that it
- 18:02Speaker 6: is over, can you honestly say that this was not
- 18:05Speaker 6: a game that you guys in that locker room all.
- 18:07Speaker 7: Week wanted to win just a little bit more than
- 18:09Speaker 7: some of the others? Yeah, this one meant a lot more.
- 18:13Speaker 10: Than the other games I mean the coaches that were
- 18:17Speaker 10: here and now at LSU some of the players as
- 18:20Speaker 10: well so a little bit more to it so yeah
- 18:24Speaker 10: I'm really happy that we got the win I wanted
- 18:26Speaker 10: this one really bad and our team did too so
- 18:28Speaker 10: just so proud of them and just so happy that
- 18:30Speaker 10: we got the win I.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Mean just really one of the most remarkable stories in
- 18:33Speaker 4: college football history is that guy I mean it's It's astounding.
- 18:37Speaker 4: If Austin Simmons... Four years at Ferris State?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Was he there four years? I don't know if he
- 18:41Speaker 2: was there four years.
- 18:42Speaker 4: How would he be playing two more if he was
- 18:44Speaker 4: there four? I don't know how long he was at
- 18:46Speaker 4: Ferris State. But, I mean, if Austin Simmons doesn't come
- 18:50Speaker 4: off the field, we never even hear of this guy.
- 18:52Speaker 4: And I don't know what.
- 18:53Speaker 2: His future is.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Like, if Austin Simmons tears it up, Austin Simmons beat
- 18:58Speaker 4: him out, won the job. If Austin Simmons tears it
- 19:00Speaker 4: up for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss... You know, I
- 19:04Speaker 4: don't know that we ever even know who this guy is.
- 19:06Speaker 11: And.
- 19:07Speaker 4: He never plays in the NFL, and now people are
- 19:09Speaker 4: talking about him like, well, maybe the Dolphins ought to
- 19:11Speaker 4: consider drafting him over Arch Manning.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I mean, look, I don't even want to say it
- 19:16Speaker 3: too early. I mean, we've seen this guy on the
- 19:17Speaker 3: biggest of stages, and it's when he plays his best football.
- 19:20Speaker 3: But they've still got three games, maybe four, that they're
- 19:23Speaker 3: going to be underdogs, including Florida, coming up on this schedule.
- 19:26Speaker 2: So the schedule is absolutely brutal. At the end of
- 19:28Speaker 2: the year, we're talking about a 10-2 Ole Miss team.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Back in the college football playoff, they would have every
- 19:32Speaker 3: opportunity to win a national championship.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I've already got your t-shirts, Brown. Be bad for Trinidad.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And by the way, I would love.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Is there a way you can work Tobago into it?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Trinidad at Tobago. How awesome would it be if they
- 19:44Speaker 2: won a national championship? Who won't miss? Oh yeah, without
- 19:46Speaker 2: laying there. And LSU doesn't make the college of Buffalo.
- 19:48Speaker 2: That would be the ultimate salt of the woods. That
- 19:50Speaker 2: would be the slap. All right.
- 19:52Speaker 1: When we come back, we'll do what we– it will
- 19:53Speaker 1: be a Monday tradition for us now when we come back.
- 19:57Speaker 1: We'll take a game, and we'll bounce around, and let's
- 20:01Speaker 1: talk about all the games we saw on Saturday, and
- 20:03Speaker 1: then we'll get to the NFL. which was as entertaining
- 20:06Speaker 1: as it always was. I'm out of the survival pool now. Texans,
- 20:10Speaker 1: the Texans.
- 20:11Speaker 2: It's really the dumbest survivor play I've ever seen. It
- 20:13Speaker 2: really is.
- 20:14Speaker 1: They couldn't do it. I never thought they'd be 0-2.
- 20:16Speaker 1: They're my Super Bowl winner, and they're 0-2.
- 20:19Speaker 4: The Chargers hate survivor pools.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Nobody plays under a field goal unless you get to
- 20:24Speaker 3: like week 14 or 15.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I was trying to get there.
- 20:27Speaker 12: I think it's just Scott and LT still in at
- 20:30Speaker 12: this point.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's how it works in Survivor Pools. Oh, our big one.
- 20:34Speaker 3: There's me and Pete left in the big one. People
- 20:36Speaker 3: are getting smoked on Survivor Pools.
- 20:38Speaker 1: You can go play them with our friends right there
- 20:41Speaker 1: at hardrock.bet backslash clay, hardrock.bet backslash clay. When we come back,
- 20:46Speaker 1: everything else we saw this weekend will bounce around game
- 20:49Speaker 1: to game to game to game with some of the favorites. Eventually,
- 20:53Speaker 1: one of us will pick the game in Nashville, how
- 20:55Speaker 1: it ended between Vandy and NC State. All that's coming
- 20:58Speaker 1: up on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets.
- 21:00Speaker 1: on sport and state. Hey, back on the next round
- 21:04Speaker 1: presented by hard rock bet on sport and state Jim Dunaway,
- 21:07Speaker 1: Lance Taylor, Ryan Brown. Uh, before we, uh, jump into
- 21:10Speaker 1: some other games and one other piece of video from
- 21:12Speaker 1: the weekend, um, Brownie, I've now seen Greg Sankey's biggest obstacles, uh,
- 21:19Speaker 1: in his job. And it is Southern state governors. We know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: we know about the Louisiana governor Forrester. Can you show
- 21:26Speaker 1: me what, uh, The Mississippi governor tweeted after the game,
- 21:30Speaker 1: this is Tate Reeves. This is the governor of the
- 21:33Speaker 1: state of Mississippi. What does a $ 54 million buyout for
- 21:38Speaker 1: the old coach, a $ 91 million contract for the new coach,
- 21:42Speaker 1: and a $ 50 million roster get you? An ass-whooping in Oxford, Mississippi.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Hashtag hottie-tottie.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Well, he was professional enough to leave out the one S.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I mean, it is ridiculous we've gotten to this level.
- 21:56Speaker 2: These are the governors. The governors.
- 21:57Speaker 4: And by the way, he's walking a– the old boy
- 22:01Speaker 4: in Louisiana is fine. LSU is the only game in town.
- 22:03Speaker 4: This cat right here has got to get elected by
- 22:05Speaker 4: two fan bases. He needs to be really, really careful.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And the other one's coming on the outside post right now,
- 22:13Speaker 1: looking pretty good down the stretch.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Hey, video of the weekend. Go ahead and hit it.
- 22:18Speaker 1: We'll talk over it out of respect to our national anthem.
- 22:21Speaker 1: We're not going to play it in its entirety, but
- 22:22Speaker 1: we're going to show you Dr. Jesse McGuire here playing
- 22:27Speaker 1: the national anthem. Go ahead and hit it there, Tyler.
- 22:29Speaker 1: We're going to talk over here a little bit. Now,
- 22:31Speaker 1: he's playing the national anthem here at the Diamondbacks game.
- 22:34Speaker 2: And I wanted to play this because this is so tremendous.
- 22:37Speaker 2: His trumpet, he gets a valve that stops working. It
- 22:41Speaker 2: doesn't work anymore. It's lost it. So he picks up
- 22:44Speaker 2: the microphone. Oh, how cool. Oh, man.
- 22:55Speaker 7: Damn, he should have just been singing.
- 22:57Speaker 2: He's got a good voice, hasn't he?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Now, can you imagine? All those people, and your trumpet's
- 23:09Speaker 1: not working.
- 23:13Speaker 13: The trumpet had one job.
- 23:18Speaker 5: Got a little Ozzie Smith in there.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I love our country. Look at that.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Oh, say does that star-spangled banner.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yet wave O'er the.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Land of the free.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Wow.
- 24:07Speaker 5: Is he taking the trumpet back with him?
- 24:15Speaker 2: No, Brown, he's not. Goodbye. He walks off. He leaves
- 24:18Speaker 2: the trumpet out there. He walks off. We're done with
- 24:21Speaker 2: this one. That's fantastic. That's Dr.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Jesse McGuire, man. Fantastic job. I guess it's the perfect
- 24:27Speaker 1: 10 mortgage. That was a perfect 10 anthem. Dang right.

- 25:44Speaker 13: make a loan. All right, Lance, start us off.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Pick a game from the weekend that we want to
- 25:48Speaker 1: talk about with our audience.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Let's talk about what happened in College Station. I saw
- 25:53Speaker 3: some flaws with this A & M defense at least
- 25:56Speaker 3: through three quarters against Arizona State. It kind of got
- 26:00Speaker 3: hidden by their ability to turn over Cutter Bowler in
- 26:03Speaker 3: that fourth quarter. But Kentucky, I don't know how you
- 26:07Speaker 3: guys felt. Once we got into the second half, it
- 26:11Speaker 3: was all Kentucky.
- 26:11Speaker 2: It was.
- 26:12Speaker 11: It was.
- 26:14Speaker 2: 21-0 in the third quarter.
- 26:15Speaker 4: The bigger concern is, and I know defense is where
- 26:19Speaker 4: you hang your hat with Elko, but where are you
- 26:20Speaker 4: with Marcel Reed? I mean, that was not a good performance.
- 26:23Speaker 3: You don't want him to be your leading rusher. Again,
- 26:25Speaker 3: Reuben Owens is good. Is he good enough to be
- 26:28Speaker 3: kind of the alpha guy in that backfield?
- 26:30Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 26:31Speaker 3: But Marcel Reed, multiple turnovers. Kenny Minchie outplayed him.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I was reading some stuff on Tex-Ags, and they were
- 26:40Speaker 1: calling this– They were calling this, Marcel Reed's, one of
- 26:44Speaker 1: his worst games, and it was in debate on whether
- 26:46Speaker 1: it was his worst game of his Texas A &
- 26:48Speaker 1: M career?
- 26:50Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I saw him in the first half
- 26:53Speaker 4: against South Carolina, and that was probably his worst half,
- 26:55Speaker 4: but he played the second half, lights out. The entire
- 26:58Speaker 4: game against Miami in the college football playoff was pretty bad,
- 27:02Speaker 4: but you look back at his box score and the numbers,
- 27:05Speaker 4: you don't just look at it and say, oh, God,
- 27:06Speaker 4: he was awful, but if you watch the game, he
- 27:08Speaker 4: wasn't great.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Well, and I can't believe how much trust that you've
- 27:11Speaker 3: got from Mike Elko winning. I mean, on your own 33,
- 27:14Speaker 3: you're going for it, fourth down, where you're down at
- 27:17Speaker 3: that point 21-7.
- 27:19Speaker 2: It's a 14-point game.
- 27:20Speaker 3: And look, I saw this from head coaches all over
- 27:22Speaker 3: the place this past Saturday. Inside of your own 40,
- 27:26Speaker 3: fourth and one, fourth and two, going for it, which...
- 27:30Speaker 3: like we have gotten way too aggressive in my opinion
- 27:33Speaker 3: I mean I like the aggression.
- 27:34Speaker 4: The analytics are telling you to go for it way
- 27:36Speaker 4: more than I ever thought they would when.
- 27:37Speaker 3: They failed on that fourth down and then Kentucky goes
- 27:39Speaker 3: right down and goes up at that point 28 to
- 27:41Speaker 3: 7 the game was.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Over uh his air yards uh he averaged 4.8 yards
- 27:45Speaker 1: per attempt.
- 27:46Speaker 2: That's probably on the other side 14.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Yards so you're not getting the ball down the field
- 27:50Speaker 4: the stuff he's completing and he is only 26 to
- 27:53Speaker 4: 49 like When you've got that kind of yards per attempt,
- 27:57Speaker 4: you would think, oh, well, he's completed a ton of
- 27:59Speaker 4: passes because they're all easy ones, and he's not.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Now, this includes Texas, the rivalry game to end last year, Miami,
- 28:06Speaker 1: the playoff loss, Arizona State, and now Saturday. But Marcel
- 28:11Speaker 1: Reed has four touchdowns and seven interceptions in those four games.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I mean, we did a crystal ball thing in the offseason,
- 28:20Speaker 3: and it all came down to Marcel Reed and how
- 28:22Speaker 3: he played defensively against the better teams. Look, Kentucky and
- 28:26Speaker 3: Arizona State aren't even the better teams. You have so
- 28:29Speaker 3: much coming up on this schedule if you're a Texas
- 28:31Speaker 3: A & M. You have to be terrified if you're
- 28:33Speaker 3: an A & M fan right now. Casey Concepcion hit
- 28:36Speaker 3: a lot of blemishes last year with a deep ball
- 28:38Speaker 3: for Marcel Reed.
- 28:38Speaker 4: If we redid our quarterback rankings, Reed would be near
- 28:41Speaker 4: the bottom for me. I mean, Arkansas has got no quarterbacks,
- 28:44Speaker 4: but I mean, Reid, once you get past Arkansas, you're
- 28:46Speaker 4: starting to talk about is Marcel Reid in the discussion now.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Give me a wide shot of Mike Elko, please. You
- 28:53Speaker 2: always get one of those. Let's don't get too tight, man.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Let's show as many Texas A & M logos as
- 28:58Speaker 1: we can in the postgame.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Here's Mike Elko, not happy.
- 29:03Speaker 11: Hats off to Kentucky. They came in here and they
- 29:05Speaker 11: beat our ass. Not good enough from us on any level. Coaching, playing, performing, physicality, anything.
- 29:11Speaker 7: And so.
- 29:12Speaker 11: on me i own it it's my program i'm in
- 29:15Speaker 11: charge of it and we have to get it fixed.
- 29:17Speaker 4: I appreciate his accountability and and i mean.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah you know you rush for 187 yards against kentucky
- 29:23Speaker 3: at home with what they've built defensively you know they
- 29:27Speaker 3: gave up 20 points in their first two games and
- 29:29Speaker 3: you give up 31 to kentucky but again the games
- 29:31Speaker 3: they've got coming up you know at lsu at missouri
- 29:34Speaker 3: at alabama at south carolina at oklahoma and then texas
- 29:37Speaker 3: and tennessee at home wow That's just one of those
- 29:40Speaker 3: you can't drop early.
- 29:41Speaker 4: And we'll talk more about this this week. I'm not
- 29:43Speaker 4: trying to jump the script on the entire week. But
- 29:45Speaker 4: now all of a sudden you go to Baton Rouge
- 29:47Speaker 4: and one of those teams is going to leave with
- 29:48Speaker 4: two conference losses. And if you're A & M, or
- 29:51Speaker 4: LSU for that matter, but specifically A & M here,
- 29:53Speaker 4: and you've already got two conference losses before you get
- 29:55Speaker 4: to October. Without a conference win. Without a conference win,
- 29:57Speaker 4: you are in some serious, serious trouble.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Atlanta seems far, far away at that point. Meanwhile, Will Stein,
- 30:04Speaker 1: who led Alabama at home, they poured a lot into
- 30:06Speaker 1: that bucket. And some wondered if they poured too much
- 30:09Speaker 1: into that home game trying to beat Alabama. Will Stein
- 30:12Speaker 1: says this is the Kentucky team he thought he would
- 30:15Speaker 1: get every game.
- 30:17Speaker 2: What a victory.
- 30:17Speaker 14: So proud of our guys. um not because of how
- 30:20Speaker 14: they played but how they prepared it was an unbelievable
- 30:23Speaker 14: week of practice guys showed up they were intense they
- 30:26Speaker 14: were focused they strained on tuesday and wednesday they hit
- 30:29Speaker 14: we thought it up and that's what showed tonight the
- 30:32Speaker 14: more physical team won the game there's gonna be plenty
- 30:35Speaker 14: to clean up from this tape which i'm so excited
- 30:36Speaker 14: about to watch there's plenty of ways that we can
- 30:39Speaker 14: improve and then go attack this next week because we
- 30:41Speaker 14: know we have much more down the line that we
- 30:44Speaker 14: got to focus on but To go on the road
- 30:46Speaker 14: in the SEC at Kyle Field, this is definitely a big.
- 30:49Speaker 7: Win for us.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Man, I've been so impressed.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Outside of how dominant Alabama was in Lexington, and they
- 30:55Speaker 3: get outscored 32-0 in that second half. Their first half
- 30:58Speaker 3: against Alabama was so crisp. what they were able to
- 31:02Speaker 3: do for four quarters against A & M. And, I mean,
- 31:04Speaker 3: I still, like, if they get bowl eligible, it's a
- 31:06Speaker 3: huge year, I think, for Will Stein. So there's a
- 31:09Speaker 3: lot of losses probably still coming up. But where Kentucky
- 31:12Speaker 3: is right now in year one, it's pretty incredible.
- 31:13Speaker 4: It looks so, I know you were a Stoops lover.
- 31:16Speaker 4: And Stoops did a good job there.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Glover's a little. Glover's a bit strong.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:20Speaker 2: You like Stoops more than I did. I'll put it
- 31:22Speaker 2: that way. I thought he did a really, really good
- 31:23Speaker 2: job at Kentucky. You were a Mr. Riz.
- 31:27Speaker 4: But this just looks different.
- 31:29Speaker 2: It does. Maybe it's 31 points on the road out
- 31:31Speaker 2: of them. I don't know. You've got a quarterback that's
- 31:33Speaker 2: productive now. And he's playing well.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And all due respect to what Stoops did at Kentucky,
- 31:41Speaker 1: until Stoops got there, He beat Louisville in 2023. That
- 31:45Speaker 1: was a top 10 team. Stoops beat Ole Miss on
- 31:48Speaker 1: the road in 2024. That was a top 10 team.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Before those two wins, Kentucky hadn't beaten an AP top
- 31:55Speaker 1: 10 team all the way back to 1977. On Saturday,
- 31:59Speaker 1: they did it for the third time. The two with
- 32:01Speaker 1: Stoops and now this one with Steins.
- 32:03Speaker 3: We have got two rookie head coaches in this league
- 32:06Speaker 3: that already have more top 10 wins than Lane Kiffin
- 32:09Speaker 3: in the first month of football.
- 32:10Speaker 2: In the first month of football. I love it. I
- 32:12Speaker 2: love it.
- 32:13Speaker 1: By the way, before Brown picks a game, the new
- 32:15Speaker 1: AP poll rewards a couple of those. Jeff Lebby got
- 32:19Speaker 1: a win. He's at the back end.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Oh, and John Summerall can get one this weekend, can't he?
- 32:23Speaker 1: Of the top 25. John Summerall is in the top 25.
- 32:26Speaker 2: He's in at 21. Two new players.
- 32:29Speaker 1: SEC teams, there are 10 SEC teams in, including No. 1, 2,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and 4. Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Indiana, Miami,
- 32:38Speaker 1: Ohio State, Bama's up to 8. More on their win
- 32:40Speaker 1: coming up. BYU, LSU is at 10 after the loss.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Texas Tech, USC, Penn State, Tennessee, who gets No. 1,
- 32:48Speaker 1: Texas at home this week. Utah, Louisville, who is too
- 32:53Speaker 1: low rated, man, need to be higher. Iowa 17, Michigan 18,
- 32:57Speaker 1: Missouri 19, Oregon, Florida in at 21, SMU at 22,
- 33:00Speaker 1: A & M drops to 23, states in at 24.
- 33:06Speaker 1: And Houston holds on at 25.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Is there a team that started in the top 10
- 33:10Speaker 4: that is already unranked? Because somebody on the panel called
- 33:13Speaker 4: that one.
- 33:14Speaker 2: We'll see. Started in the top 10 unranked. Did you
- 33:21Speaker 2: say Oklahoma? Oklahoma, yes. Oklahoma.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Is that the game you want to pick? No, God,
- 33:24Speaker 4: that was an awful game. I watched way too much
- 33:26Speaker 4: of that game.
- 33:26Speaker 1: 14-6, Oklahoma beat New Mexico. Wait, you've got to hear
- 33:31Speaker 1: a sound bite from him.
- 33:31Speaker 2: You didn't pick it. I'll pick it. I'll pick it.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Let's go Oklahoma. No, you don't have to pick it. Oh,
- 33:36Speaker 2: we don't have the sound bite anyway. Terrible game. I
- 33:38Speaker 2: don't think. Nope, we don't have the sound bite.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Yeah, if you had never seen New Mexico's coach, you'd
- 33:42Speaker 4: watch that game and be like, oh, my gosh.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Oh, it's Mark Mangino with a Mike Leach mask. All
- 33:46Speaker 2: you need to know.
- 33:47Speaker 1: All you need to know from that game is John Mateer,
- 33:51Speaker 1: in the postgame, admitted that the game-deciding touchdown, basically, the long.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Pass in a 14-6 game.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 33:59Speaker 1: That he heard the crowd that he had skipped over
- 34:02Speaker 1: that route.
- 34:03Speaker 4: By the way his best receiver.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yes one to three on the skipped over the two
- 34:07Speaker 1: read went to three and he was like the crowd
- 34:11Speaker 1: made such a ruckus i knew something must be going
- 34:14Speaker 1: on and so he i looked down at him and
- 34:18Speaker 1: he had his hand open he was so wide open
- 34:20Speaker 1: and i threw it to him for the touchdown And
- 34:22Speaker 1: the reporter followed up. He's like, wait, what are you saying?
- 34:24Speaker 1: You're saying you heard the crowd?
- 34:26Speaker 2: He's like, yeah. Sometimes you can't hear them, but I
- 34:29Speaker 2: heard the crowd. I knew something. Sometimes you shouldn't say
- 34:32Speaker 2: certain things. Yeah, don't say those things out loud. It's
- 34:34Speaker 2: the most unbelievable sound bite I've ever heard. It really is.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Tell me you can't read a defense without telling me
- 34:38Speaker 2: you can't read a defense.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys remember these teams, the
- 34:42Speaker 3: Jim Mora Saints teams of the early 90s and the
- 34:44Speaker 3: Rich Kotite Eagles teams of the early 90s. Great defenses,
- 34:48Speaker 3: terrible offenses. And that's what you've got right now with Oklahoma.
- 34:51Speaker 3: And the reason I thought Oklahoma was going to be
- 34:52Speaker 3: so good is the.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Defense is elite.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I thought the offense would take a couple of steps
- 34:57Speaker 3: based on a 10-win season last year. I think they've
- 34:59Speaker 3: taken steps back. I mean, it looks like a complete mess.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I mean, they turned it over three times. The only
- 35:04Speaker 3: reason New Mexico is in that game at all.
- 35:06Speaker 4: I think, I think, and I don't know X's and O's.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Somebody smarter than me can answer this. But I think
- 35:13Speaker 4: coaches have just realized Mateer can't read defenses. And, boy,
- 35:17Speaker 4: he's easy to confuse. And I can confuse the heck
- 35:18Speaker 4: out of this guy. And if I can, we've got
- 35:20Speaker 4: a chance.
- 35:21Speaker 1: And they struggled around the football. Oklahoma at Georgia this week.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Georgia only a 14-point favorite in that game.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Kill them.
- 35:29Speaker 1: That's against the defense. Georgia looks like a machine. Pick
- 35:32Speaker 1: a game before we take our next one. I was
- 35:33Speaker 1: going to go Bama-Florida State. It was a wild game.
- 35:36Speaker 4: It involved a bunch of or at least two major
- 35:39Speaker 4: delays to start the game in one-year halftime. So you
- 35:41Speaker 4: may not have been able to find it on ESPN2
- 35:44Speaker 4: at the end to see the end.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Go to Monday Morning Live, 25 minutes, 25 seconds into
- 35:49Speaker 1: Monday Morning Live on our podcast, and you'll hear Tom
- 35:53Speaker 1: Lugenbill break down Alabama's secondary on why they gave up
- 35:59Speaker 1: so many big plays down the field. But either one
- 36:01Speaker 1: of you, Is that what you expected from Alabama's defense?
- 36:04Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Now, I knew Deuce Robinson, Lance, is a next-level receiver.
- 36:08Speaker 4: It's wild that he's going to be stuck in that
- 36:09Speaker 4: offense all year, but my gosh, I mean, if they
- 36:12Speaker 4: could play that way every week, they would win some games.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I mean, look, you've got a 6'6 guy with those
- 36:16Speaker 3: kind of hands. I mean, that catch radius is insane.
- 36:20Speaker 3: You saw that first touchdown at the back of the
- 36:22Speaker 3: end zone. Look, bad quarterback play from Ashton Daniels, but
- 36:26Speaker 3: you do have, you know, Cremant, like, gets banged up
- 36:29Speaker 3: in that game.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Deuce Robinson, you've got some playmakers offensively.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Deuce Robinson is high on my draft list.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't know what kind of speed he's got.
- 36:39Speaker 3: He played at SC for a couple of years, played
- 36:41Speaker 3: at Florida State the last couple of years. He's really,
- 36:43Speaker 3: really good. He'll get drafted because he's going to be
- 36:45Speaker 3: a red zone mismatch for a lot of teams.
- 36:49Speaker 1: A slower Mike Evans is what you're saying?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Alabama, though, to have to score
- 36:53Speaker 2: 50 points to beat Florida State. I'm stunned by that.
- 36:56Speaker 2: I mean.
- 36:57Speaker 4: A, they scored 50, which probably would have surprised me
- 36:59Speaker 4: a little bit. But B, they needed most of them
- 37:01Speaker 4: is a bigger surprise to me. I did not see
- 37:04Speaker 4: that coming at all.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Was there a point where you guys thought Alabama might
- 37:06Speaker 2: lose the game? When they were down 21-6? Yeah. The
- 37:10Speaker 2: fact that the secondary was the defense. That's what I
- 37:12Speaker 2: was thinking.
- 37:15Speaker 3: The way the secondary is playing early on and you're
- 37:17Speaker 3: in a 15-point hole, the weather delay helped them.
- 37:21Speaker 10: It did.
- 37:21Speaker 2: It did. But I thought Alabama had gained the momentum.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I agree.
- 37:25Speaker 4: Nobody's talking about that. Well, Danny Connell's talking about the opposite.
- 37:28Speaker 4: He's saying it was staged by the SEC to slow
- 37:30Speaker 4: the game down. I thought that was the one time
- 37:32Speaker 4: Alabama looked like they had kind of gotten it together.
- 37:35Speaker 2: He was joking though, right? I don't know. Danny always
- 37:38Speaker 2: is joking. They had scored a touchdown. That's correct. That's right.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And they had Florida State on their heels in the
- 37:45Speaker 1: weather delay. And I was like, this is the worst
- 37:47Speaker 1: thing that can happen. It's going to give Florida State
- 37:49Speaker 1: a chance to adjust to what Alabama has adjusted to.
- 37:51Speaker 2: That's right.
- 37:52Speaker 4: I thought it was terrible timing for Alabama. Anybody suggesting otherwise,
- 37:56Speaker 4: I think, wasn't watching the game. Alabama, finally, their offense
- 37:59Speaker 4: had some rhythm to it on that drive. And their
- 38:02Speaker 4: defense had gotten a chance to be on the sidelines.
- 38:05Speaker 2: And try to find something.
- 38:06Speaker 11: Yep.
- 38:06Speaker 2: To slow down Ashton Daniels.
- 38:07Speaker 1: And by the way, you were only two minutes and
- 38:09Speaker 1: 34 seconds away from being at halftime anyway for either
- 38:12Speaker 1: team to make an adjustment. But when they did come
- 38:14Speaker 1: back out, Alabama was balls to the wall, man.
- 38:17Speaker 2: They went after them.
- 38:18Speaker 4: I tell you, if Ashton Daniels could play Alabama every week,
- 38:20Speaker 4: he'd be a Heisman candidate. I don't know what that
- 38:22Speaker 4: kid sees in Kane Womack's defense, but he's probably... His
- 38:27Speaker 4: best game ever was against Vanderbilt, but his second and
- 38:30Speaker 4: third best game ever were the Iron Bowl last year
- 38:33Speaker 4: and then this game Saturday.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yeah, but three turnovers. That's what you get with him. 377,
- 38:38Speaker 1: two touchdowns. Better quarterback on the field, though, Keelan Russell,
- 38:41Speaker 1: who every week seems to take another step. 320 yards,
- 38:45Speaker 1: three touchdowns, ran for 57, 23 of 30. Here's his
- 38:50Speaker 1: head coach on Keelan Russell and how he continues to grow.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Gets better every drive, it seems like.
- 38:56Speaker 15: Yeah, I think every game there's something that he's doing
- 38:59Speaker 15: a better job with, you know, and week one to
- 39:01Speaker 15: week two, it's just the operation even before we snap
- 39:05Speaker 15: the football as we're lining up in the huddle. I
- 39:08Speaker 15: think last week as the game went on, he got
- 39:10Speaker 15: more comfortable and thought, you know, he came out and was,
- 39:16Speaker 15: you know, in the passing game, you know, accurate, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 15: seeing the field and making some, making a couple subtle checks,
- 39:23Speaker 15: things like that, Confident he's going to get more snaps.
- 39:29Speaker 15: You want him to let the game come to him,
- 39:31Speaker 15: but we've got to find and pick and choose our
- 39:33Speaker 15: times to be aggressive too. I think he's balancing that
- 39:36Speaker 15: better and better from probably the second half last week
- 39:40Speaker 15: through this game.
- 39:41Speaker 4: The alarming thing are the slow starts. I mean, that's
- 39:43Speaker 4: two straight weeks where Alabama offensively has just had a
- 39:45Speaker 4: dreadful start.
- 39:46Speaker 1: And he addressed it, Kalen DeBoer did, in his news
- 39:48Speaker 1: conference on Monday, and it was one of the first
- 39:50Speaker 1: things he said afterwards. You can't start off slow. You're
- 39:54Speaker 1: trailing at Kentucky. You're trailing at the rain delay. against
- 39:58Speaker 1: Florida State.
- 39:58Speaker 4: You do that in the month of October and you'll
- 40:00Speaker 4: take some L's because that month's going to be difficult.
- 40:03Speaker 2: It's starting in two weeks.
- 40:04Speaker 4: They've got to figure this one out. You can't do
- 40:06Speaker 4: it at Starkville. You may not be able to do
- 40:08Speaker 4: it against Saturday night against South Carolina.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I don't know. As below average as.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Florida State is, though, five consecutive touchdown drives once they
- 40:15Speaker 3: got into rhythm.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I mean, that's impressive.
- 40:17Speaker 1: South Carolina at Alabama. Bama, 13.5 point favorite this morning.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Last I checked, the line in Tuscaloosa under the lights.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And thank God for the night games because it has.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Been hot, hot, hot.
- 40:30Speaker 1: When we come back, we'll pick a couple of more games.
- 40:32Speaker 1: We'll jump into the NFL as well as we roll
- 40:35Speaker 1: on today. This is the next round presented by Hard
- 40:37Speaker 1: Rock Bets on Sport and State. Back with you on
- 40:40Speaker 1: the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sport
- 40:43Speaker 1: and State.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Stop me if you've heard this before.
- 40:45Speaker 1: We've got an international game coming up in the NFL
- 40:49Speaker 1: down in Rio, the Cowboys and the Ravens.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And wait for it.
- 40:52Speaker 1: There are field concerns in Rio that even the soccer
- 40:56Speaker 1: team that plays in the stadium says it's trash. And
- 41:00Speaker 1: there's concerns now whether we're going to go to Rio
- 41:02Speaker 1: and play this game, Cowboys and Ravens.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Do you know offhand whose home game it is? I
- 41:08Speaker 4: guess that's where you would go.
- 41:09Speaker 2: The way I read it is Cowboys and Ravens, probably
- 41:11Speaker 2: a Ravens home game. So you'd go to Baltimore.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Well, if I'm these players, like after the injuries you
- 41:16Speaker 3: saw on regular fields over the weekend– I don't know.
- 41:21Speaker 4: If you saw this because I have no idea why
- 41:23Speaker 4: Kansas State and Arizona State were playing a game in
- 41:26Speaker 4: Wembley Stadium.
- 41:27Speaker 2: But zero sense to me.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Not on week zero.
- 41:29Speaker 2: And by the way, there was nobody there. There was nobody.
- 41:31Speaker 4: The entire upper deck empty. I mean, very few people
- 41:33Speaker 4: were at the game. They wouldn't let them back out
- 41:35Speaker 4: on the field after the game.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Did you see that?
- 41:36Speaker 4: They were trying to go back out, maybe take some
- 41:38Speaker 4: photos and stuff. They would not let them back out
- 41:40Speaker 4: on the turf. The guys that played in the game.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Because they wanted to pat it down so the next
- 41:43Speaker 1: soccer game was ready to be played for the Premier League.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Yeah, apparently Wembley Stadium turf is hallowed ground. It's Augusta National, apparently.
- 41:49Speaker 4: It played like trash over the weekend. And by the way,
- 41:51Speaker 4: both games in Europe this year in college football, snoozers.
- 41:54Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 1: 15-10 in North Carolina's win over TCU in Ireland, and
- 41:58Speaker 1: then that one at Wembley was a no-go for me.
- 42:02Speaker 1: And why you're running over there to play, I have
- 42:04Speaker 1: no idea. Keep an eye on that. We're about to
- 42:07Speaker 1: talk a little NFL, and then we'll get back into
- 42:08Speaker 1: our college rundown brought to you by our XXXY friends.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Founded by Jennifer Say, former national champion gymnast, and she
- 42:15Speaker 4: was also former Levi's brand president, and she walked away

- 43:10Speaker 1: All right, NFL from yesterday. Which surprises you more, Lance,
- 43:14Speaker 1: that the Chargers are 0-2 or the Texans are 0-2?
- 43:18Speaker 3: Probably definitely the Chargers just because of the Texans' schedule.
- 43:21Speaker 3: I mean, it was two home games, which isn't good.
- 43:23Speaker 3: And look, teams that go 0-2 in today's playoff format
- 43:27Speaker 3: have a 16% chance based on history of getting to
- 43:31Speaker 3: the postseason. But last year, the Texans started 0-3. But
- 43:34Speaker 3: when you host Buffalo... And then you host Cincinnati. I mean,
- 43:37Speaker 3: two of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. I kind
- 43:40Speaker 3: of get that. On the other side, for the Chargers
- 43:42Speaker 3: to be more than a touchdown favorite, against both the
- 43:45Speaker 3: Cardinals and the Raiders at home and to be 0-2,
- 43:48Speaker 3: that's a problem.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Well, that sounds bad. You lost to the Cardinals and
- 43:51Speaker 2: the Raiders.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and what's coming up? I don't know if you
- 43:55Speaker 3: guys have seen the Chargers. They've got the second most
- 43:57Speaker 3: difficult remaining schedule now, and they're 0-2. You can't make
- 43:59Speaker 3: this up. Okay, they've got to go to Buffalo this week.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Then they go to Seattle. Then they've got Denver coming in.
- 44:06Speaker 3: Then they go to Kansas City. Then they go to
- 44:07Speaker 3: the Rams. Then they've got the Texans. Then they go
- 44:10Speaker 3: to the Ravens. And they're– They could be 0-9. Yes,
- 44:14Speaker 3: they really could be. If they played like they did
- 44:16Speaker 3: in the first two weeks, they will be 0-9.
- 44:18Speaker 4: And if I saw this right, their net rest is
- 44:20Speaker 4: minus 24 days. In other words, they're playing some weird
- 44:23Speaker 4: short weeks. So they've got a complicated schedule coming up.
- 44:28Speaker 4: This was the easiest part, and they're 0-2.
- 44:30Speaker 2: That's insanity. But if you're the Texans, you're concerned too.
- 44:36Speaker 2: I mean, look, Burrow was really good yesterday. Yeah, their
- 44:41Speaker 2: defense is just not What I thought it was going
- 44:43Speaker 2: to be.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Josh Allen completely carved him up in week one.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I know. They're playing two high-level quarterbacks. I mean, that's
- 44:48Speaker 4: the one thing you look at, but still.
- 44:49Speaker 1: The defense was better. I mean, it was 20-6. You know,
- 44:53Speaker 1: it wasn't 35-31. But that six is a concern against
- 44:56Speaker 1: the Bengals' defense.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Our old friend John McClain, who has covered the NFL
- 45:01Speaker 4: for a very long time out of Houston, said at point,
- 45:03Speaker 4: I saw him on social media, just say, the one
- 45:05Speaker 4: thing D'Amico Ryans has not been able to get right
- 45:07Speaker 4: is offensive line. Their offensive line is just not good enough.
- 45:10Speaker 4: to have a competent offense in the.
- 45:11Speaker 3: NFL right now. They're kind of the other side. I
- 45:15Speaker 3: think the Colts are pretty good, but they've got to
- 45:17Speaker 3: go to the Colts. They've got the Cowboys at home,
- 45:19Speaker 3: at the Titans, Jags at home, Giants at home, at Chargers,
- 45:23Speaker 3: at Browns, Colts. They can get this right pretty quick.
- 45:27Speaker 3: They won 12 of their last 14 games to end
- 45:29Speaker 3: the season last year. I think they could get on
- 45:32Speaker 3: another heater.
- 45:33Speaker 4: The chat room just is all over Herbert. Maybe Herbert
- 45:36Speaker 4: ain't as good as everyone thought, Troy says. James says,
- 45:39Speaker 4: I thought the Chargers and Herbert were going to make
- 45:41Speaker 4: the playoffs. He's always been overhyped, but gets all the glaze.
- 45:44Speaker 3: I mean, he's been really good in the regular season.
- 45:46Speaker 3: In the postseason, you can't deny he has not been good.
- 45:48Speaker 3: But what did he do over the offseason? Rusty, Herbert
- 45:51Speaker 3: is so– he got married.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Got married.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Herbert is so overrated, the only big win he has
- 45:55Speaker 4: is locking down Madison Beer. That's what you were just
- 45:57Speaker 4: talking about.
- 45:58Speaker 2: He looks good at the games.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I mean, he's got a major flex over Travis Kelsey
- 46:04Speaker 3: outside of the bank account because I don't know what
- 46:06Speaker 3: Madison Beer does.
- 46:08Speaker 2: I have no.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Idea what she does. I've seen her on TV. I've
- 46:11Speaker 3: seen her in social media, but I got no idea
- 46:13Speaker 3: what she does.
- 46:14Speaker 2: She is a musician. Question mark? I would say a
- 46:20Speaker 2: social media influencer.
- 46:21Speaker 4: I'm just going to go social media influencer. It's always
- 46:23Speaker 4: my guess.
- 46:24Speaker 2: She doesn't sing? I thought she was a singer.
- 46:27Speaker 12: Singer, songwriter, and TV personality. Has she ever been in anything?
- 46:33Speaker 2: Has she ever sung a song? I don't think so.
- 46:35Speaker 12: I think she's one of those weird people that just
- 46:37Speaker 12: sort of pops up out of nowhere, and then it
- 46:39Speaker 12: turns out that her uncle or somebody is a very
- 46:42Speaker 12: powerful record producer.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I think she's one of those types. I think she.
- 46:47Speaker 12: So governments sigh up.
- 46:48Speaker 4: She sings a lot on the internet and gets a
- 46:51Speaker 4: lot of likes and follows there. I think that's where
- 46:53Speaker 4: she popped up. I don't know if you guys are
- 46:55Speaker 4: like me, but if there's somebody that everyone seems to
- 46:57Speaker 4: have heard of and I don't know who they are,
- 46:58Speaker 4: I just assume social media influencer.
- 47:00Speaker 2: That's always my assumption. That's an easy go-to.
- 47:02Speaker 1: That's an easy go-to. Also in the NFL, over the weekend,
- 47:06Speaker 1: we talked about Hard Rock Bet and... Let's all go
- 47:10Speaker 1: play all-unders this week.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I thought it would have worked out good for us.
- 47:15Speaker 4: I'm sitting here looking at a 20-6, a 9-3 score.
- 47:20Speaker 4: That 9-3, by the way, involved a team that scored
- 47:22Speaker 4: 70 million points. It seems like that played out well.
- 47:27Speaker 2: A step back.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Caleb Williams goes out with a hamstring, but.
- 47:32Speaker 2: He was going to score.
- 47:33Speaker 3: I mean, what a disaster to end that game. He
- 47:37Speaker 3: had the corner there.
- 47:38Speaker 2: He was going in.
- 47:39Speaker 4: He did, and they're going to win 10-9.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Yeah, they were going to go up at that point 10-6,
- 47:44Speaker 3: and then Bajink comes in, and I mean, in those
- 47:47Speaker 3: conditions with the wet ball, couldn't do anything, but. I mean,
- 47:51Speaker 3: the good news is Caleb Williams, I don't know if
- 47:53Speaker 3: you guys were watching live. I was because they're one
- 47:56Speaker 3: of my teams that I drafted. But when he was
- 47:58Speaker 3: getting carded off, I mean, he was bawling tears. I
- 48:00Speaker 3: thought he thought his season was done, and that's the
- 48:02Speaker 3: way it looked. But now they're saying it's not going
- 48:04Speaker 3: to be as serious, and he might just be out
- 48:05Speaker 3: a couple of weeks.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Hamstring a couple of weeks. Not as good for Jaden
- 48:08Speaker 1: Daniels yet. Dislocated elbow. We don't know how long he's
- 48:11Speaker 1: going to be out. In the crazy NFC South, Carolina
- 48:17Speaker 1: just woodshed at Atlanta. Tampa Bay loses to Deshaun Watson
- 48:22Speaker 1: and the Browns. And then the Saints go into Baltimore.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And as 8.5-point underdogs beat the Ravens 24-17.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Well, the Ravens don't have any healthy receivers. And it
- 48:36Speaker 2: kind of showed yesterday. It was wild, though.
- 48:38Speaker 3: The Ravens' offense was so freaking good week one against
- 48:42Speaker 3: the Colts. And then it goes into a shell, and
- 48:44Speaker 3: a lot of that was... Lack of receivers. I mean,
- 48:46Speaker 3: Zay Flowers is their big play guy. Bateman was their
- 48:49Speaker 3: leading receiver yesterday, and Mark Andrews right there with him.
- 48:52Speaker 3: But Tyler Shuck is playing pretty good football right now.
- 48:55Speaker 4: I mean, the Saints lost in overtime when they went
- 48:58Speaker 4: for two in the win at Detroit and have won
- 49:00Speaker 4: at Baltimore. Maybe the Saints are just a good football team.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Well, I said that they were going to be one
- 49:03Speaker 2: of the surprise teams this year. It looks like it.
- 49:05Speaker 2: It was either them or Carolina for me in the South.
- 49:07Speaker 2: And both look pretty good right now. I mean, Dave
- 49:09Speaker 2: Canales said it after the game.
- 49:10Speaker 3: First time in Carolina history– that the team has scored
- 49:13Speaker 3: 30-plus in their first two games.
- 49:15Speaker 2: The offense is pretty good.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Bryce Young looks legit. Last night, the Chiefs get a win.
- 49:20Speaker 1: What a heartbreaking way.
- 49:22Speaker 2: I mean, not heartbreaking.
- 49:23Speaker 1: What a tough way for the Colts to lose that game.
- 49:26Speaker 1: They get the deep pass. The guy makes the catch.
- 49:30Speaker 1: And he goes down, and then they have the tag
- 49:33Speaker 1: and this and that.
- 49:34Speaker 2: What did y'all think of the call? It was the
- 49:35Speaker 2: right call.
- 49:36Speaker 4: I thought he was down by contact in real speed.
- 49:38Speaker 4: And then when they showed slow-mo, I was like, ooh,
- 49:40Speaker 4: he may not be. And then that hand on the hill,
- 49:42Speaker 4: I mean, it just brushed it. And then you've got
- 49:45Speaker 4: to determine. I mean, sometimes I feel like we just
- 49:46Speaker 4: get way too focused.
- 49:48Speaker 3: I don't know how you guys felt, but Daniel Jones
- 49:51Speaker 3: is one of these guys that does not mind contact
- 49:53Speaker 3: and got crushed a couple of times. But that late hit,
- 49:56Speaker 3: for that not to get flagged, 1,000% they would have
- 49:59Speaker 3: thrown the flag if that.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Was Pat Holmes. You're talking about along the sidelines in overtime? Yeah,
- 50:02Speaker 2: in overtime. Not even close. It would have been a flag.
- 50:06Speaker 4: I don't think it should be a late hit, but
- 50:08Speaker 4: I think in that stadium, Mahomes gets that call. He
- 50:12Speaker 4: did not have a foot down in the white.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Ah, it was close.
- 50:15Speaker 4: He had left the field, and he's hovering over the white. Now,
- 50:17Speaker 4: the sideline erupted.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you know exactly where he's going. Oh, 100%.
- 50:21Speaker 4: But when we start calling those, that's when we end
- 50:25Speaker 4: up with what Pat Mahomes loves to do is he
- 50:27Speaker 4: gets along that sideline, and defenders have to pull up
- 50:29Speaker 4: because they don't want 15, and he gets two or
- 50:31Speaker 4: three more yards. And Mahomes does that. So I'm fine
- 50:34Speaker 4: with him not calling those. But 100% Pat Mahomes gets
- 50:37Speaker 4: that call. Would you have gone for that fourth down?
- 50:39Speaker 4: He lined up to see the look he was.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Going to get. Yeah, that's what he said. He would
- 50:42Speaker 2: have if they would have been in the right look.
- 50:44Speaker 4: I kind of, and I was with Collinsworth, I'm kind
- 50:46Speaker 4: of like, you almost have to go for it because
- 50:48Speaker 4: you know if you give them the ball back, they're.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Going to win the game. You knew 100% they were
- 50:51Speaker 2: going to win the game. I mean, I know it's
- 50:53Speaker 2: not the analytics. Because it's fourth and eight. It was
- 50:56Speaker 2: at eight?
- 50:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay, fourth and eight. So, I mean, I know
- 50:59Speaker 4: the book says do not go for it, just kick
- 51:01Speaker 4: it right there, but the book doesn't have to stop
- 51:03Speaker 4: Kansas City if they get the ball back.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Dak Prescott is now the Cowboys passing leader.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Yeah, all-time touchdowns. And just a couple of points on
- 51:15Speaker 3: that game yesterday. Cowboys cannot run the football. 39 carries, 135.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Yards through two games. That's a problem. That's running into
- 51:22Speaker 2: a brick wall. They're putting way too much on Dak.
- 51:25Speaker 3: On the other side, Jayden Daniels has now lost his
- 51:28Speaker 3: last six starts, and he has left nothing. Four of
- 51:32Speaker 3: his last five starts with an injury.
- 51:34Speaker 2: And this one looks bad. Yeah, dislocated elbow.
- 51:37Speaker 4: That knot that popped up on his elbow, I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 4: it looked like a cartoon knot.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Throwing arm, too, right?
- 51:42Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 51:43Speaker 4: That's going to keep you out of water. Tom Brady,
- 51:45Speaker 4: I mean, if you were watching live, Tom Brady's gut
- 51:47Speaker 4: reaction tells you all you need to know. I mean,
- 51:50Speaker 4: that was a tough-looking injury. I thought for a moment
- 51:53Speaker 4: his offensive lineman had stepped on his arm and broken
- 51:56Speaker 4: his arm, but it was really just the way he
- 51:58Speaker 4: landed on it. But he's injury prone.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Sadly, he was playing pretty good, playing better than he
- 52:03Speaker 3: played against the Eagles last week up until he went out.
- 52:05Speaker 4: It's the worry about Jaden Daniels. This happened to him
- 52:09Speaker 4: at LSU, too.
- 52:10Speaker 2: I love this. I know you had the Chicago Bears,
- 52:12Speaker 2: your best team in the NFL. Are you going to
- 52:13Speaker 2: pull back on.
- 52:14Speaker 7: That a little bit?
- 52:14Speaker 4: We'll see tomorrow, Lance.
- 52:15Speaker 2: You've got to wait until tomorrow. I don't want to
- 52:16Speaker 2: tip my hand yet.
- 52:17Speaker 4: We've still got a Monday night game today.
- 52:18Speaker 2: And I love everybody talking. This could be a team
- 52:21Speaker 2: that actually breaks the all-time scoring record.
- 52:23Speaker 4: No, they've got a three up there now. It's going
- 52:25Speaker 4: to be hard to catch it.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Almost back to the medium in two games.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Monday night football tonight. Who's playing in LT? Giants.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Yeah, the Giants are playing the Rams. Oh, man, I
- 52:36Speaker 3: hate this because I don't think Puka's going to play.
- 52:38Speaker 4: It looks like that, but is Aaron Donald going to play, though?
- 52:40Speaker 2: Aaron Donald's going to play, but you wonder how many steps.
- 52:41Speaker 4: He's going to be active.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I don't know how much he's going to play.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Josiah Stewart will get the start for Miles Garrett, a
- 52:46Speaker 3: second-year guy out of Michigan.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I like him a lot.
- 52:48Speaker 3: McVay has never lost the New York Giants for whatever
- 52:51Speaker 3: that's worth. I do like the fact the Giants won
- 52:53Speaker 3: last week, so they're coming in with a lot of
- 52:55Speaker 3: momentum here. But I don't like this spot for the Rams.
- 52:58Speaker 3: And if the Rams lose this, then they've got to
- 52:59Speaker 3: go to Denver next Sunday night. I mean, it's just
- 53:01Speaker 3: a brutal schedule.
- 53:02Speaker 4: 0-2 start was not on the table.
- 53:04Speaker 2: For the Rams.
- 53:05Speaker 3: And you wonder what it's going to look like coming
- 53:07Speaker 3: back from Melbourne. You know, San Francisco had the Dolphins.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Slow start, but they only had two possessions in the
- 53:14Speaker 3: first half.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Yeah, the Dolphins ground the clock out in the first half,
- 53:18Speaker 4: but they scored a touchdown on both those possessions. But
- 53:20Speaker 4: I thought their defense looked a little sluggish. I mean,
- 53:23Speaker 4: Miami had the ability to move the ball on them.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Yeah, Stafford just looked slow. Like, you really hope it
- 53:28Speaker 3: was just all the travel, the 23 hours over there,
- 53:31Speaker 3: but You know, he was 60% of his passes. He
- 53:35Speaker 3: threw a pick, only 155 total yards. No puka. That
- 53:39Speaker 3: means Devontae's going to be your one. It's going to
- 53:41Speaker 3: be a lot of tight end action tonight. I think
- 53:44Speaker 3: the Rams are really going to try to run the football, though.
- 53:46Speaker 3: I think it's going to be the combination of Kyron
- 53:47Speaker 3: Williams and Blake Corum. Should be a hell of a game.
- 53:50Speaker 3: Rams now down to a six-and-a-half point favorite. And we'll
- 53:53Speaker 3: see how it plays out.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Giants and Rams tonight on Monday Night Football. We'll jump
- 53:58Speaker 1: back to college football when we roll on to our
- 54:00Speaker 1: number two.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Of the next round.
- 54:03Speaker 1: This stat line as we go to break here, this
- 54:05Speaker 1: from Yahoo Sports. I'll read it as they wrote it.
- 54:07Speaker 1: The Packers beat the Jets 20-17 in overtime while becoming
- 54:11Speaker 1: the first team on record since 1941 to win a
- 54:15Speaker 1: game with fewer than 200 total yards, more than 100
- 54:18Speaker 1: penalty yards, and a negative turnover margin. Before today, such
- 54:23Speaker 1: teams were 0-44 in NFL history.
- 54:27Speaker 2: They're down 10 points.
- 54:29Speaker 3: It was huge for them to get a win because
- 54:31Speaker 3: they had lost six consecutive games, but 26 penalties in
- 54:35Speaker 3: two games now for the Packers.
- 54:36Speaker 2: That's a problem. That's a huge problem.
- 54:38Speaker 1: One more hour back to college football on the next
- 54:40Speaker 1: round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sporting State.
