- 0:02Speaker 1: Things are happening, Winter meetings, sessions are done. Everybody left
- 0:09Speaker 1: Orlando pretty much, but I guess I'm still here. Shout
- 0:13Speaker 1: out to the team. It was a great few days.
- 0:16Speaker 1: A lot of hard work behind the scenes to put
- 0:17Speaker 1: it all together, many guests that joined us, and actually
- 0:21Speaker 1: I got to spend some time with our monster territory
- 0:24Speaker 1: host that is Robbie Hyde. He does an awesome, awesome
- 0:28Speaker 1: job postgame after every single Red Sox game all year long,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and then fills up the content in the off season.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Todd Father, he's a little newsbreaker now. He broke a
- 0:39Speaker 1: little news last night and then everybody else jumped on
- 0:42Speaker 1: this morning, Robbie Hyde said, Mark Lighter Junior signing with
- 0:46Speaker 1: the A's, he was told he was correct. One year,
- 0:49Speaker 1: three million bucks. The A's pick up a little relief piece.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You got to watch Lighter a little bit too.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he's Tom JRiver guy. That's that's that's my guy.
- 0:59Speaker 3: We used to work out in the all seasons together,
- 1:01Speaker 3: you know, facing live and you know, we would go
- 1:03Speaker 3: outside and at thirty five to forty five degree weather,
- 1:06Speaker 3: like Kratzy knows all too well before we would hit summer.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Good for him, you know, I think this is kind
- 1:12Speaker 3: of a new little start for him, you know, to
- 1:15Speaker 3: kind of get this going here, maybe maybe even get
- 1:18Speaker 3: him going for a couple more years after this. Dude,
- 1:20Speaker 3: he's not a bad reliever at all. He throws well.
- 1:23Speaker 3: He has a really good twelve to six breaking ball
- 1:25Speaker 3: that he uses.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Splitter is his favorite pitch.
- 1:28Speaker 3: But I think kind of getting out of New York,
- 1:29Speaker 3: getting out of you know, the realm of living right
- 1:32Speaker 3: down the street pretty much is going to bode well
- 1:35Speaker 3: for him. He's with the team that is pretty much
- 1:38Speaker 3: getting a new stadium pretty soon, and you know why not.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I think this is a great signing him.
- 1:43Speaker 3: He can go out there and be himself, not really
- 1:45Speaker 3: worry about much and just go out and dominate and
- 1:48Speaker 3: pitch and be b Mark, be Mark Junior. You know,
- 1:52Speaker 3: it's funny. I was talking to a couple of my
- 1:55Speaker 3: guys in my travel ball team. Go to his dad
- 1:57Speaker 3: who does a lot of training for pitching, and I
- 2:01Speaker 3: talked to him every once in a while about you know,
- 2:03Speaker 3: his son and stuff like that. But he's got a
- 2:05Speaker 3: good head over his shoulders. His dad is really incredible guy.
- 2:08Speaker 3: He's helping out the youth here a lot and I'm
- 2:11Speaker 3: happy for him. I'm really happy for him. I think
- 2:13Speaker 3: this is a good fit for him, kind of to
- 2:14Speaker 3: breathe a little bit and go out there and play baseball.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he's a guy that's kind of bounced
- 2:20Speaker 4: around a little bit. You know. The A's A's added
- 2:24Speaker 4: somebody I love to see. I'd love to see them,
- 2:30Speaker 4: you know, continue to push. They have a young core
- 2:33Speaker 4: of guys that they tried to add. You know, when
- 2:37Speaker 4: they added seven reno last year. To me, this year,
- 2:40Speaker 4: we'll say this offseason will say whether or not they
- 2:42Speaker 4: added seven reno. They made the other moves. I'm blanking
- 2:46Speaker 4: on who else they added last year because they had to,
- 2:51Speaker 4: like show me this year. I get it. You traded
- 2:53Speaker 4: Mason Miller. You got a nice little haul back. My
- 2:56Speaker 4: opinion is like, don't stop like this. Make this move
- 3:01Speaker 4: to Vegas three four years from now, b when you
- 3:05Speaker 4: guys are hitting on all cylinders and I think a
- 3:08Speaker 4: little move like this is great, But don't let the
- 3:11Speaker 4: Luis Sevarino trade talks dampen the little bit of spending
- 3:17Speaker 4: that happened last year.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I know one other move they made a year ago,
- 3:22Speaker 1: Jose La Clerk that did not work out injury. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: think he only ended up with else ten appearances because
- 3:29Speaker 1: the little clerk actually got some decent coin. He was
- 3:33Speaker 1: what coming off the Yeah, right, you know little jose
- 3:38Speaker 1: La clerk, and I mean the year before he won
- 3:40Speaker 1: a World Series or was that the year before that?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Twenty three twenty three he won a World Series, right, right,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and then he signed for ten million bucks. He had
- 3:49Speaker 1: shoulder surgery, so that didn't work out also due to injury.
- 3:53Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm with you. Yeah, if you're the A's,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I know they've kind of leaked out what their spending
- 3:58Speaker 1: trajectory is going to look like heading into Vegas. It's
- 4:01Speaker 1: not going to be nearly what they said. Shocker. They're
- 4:04Speaker 1: not going to make as much in Sacramento. They haven't
- 4:06Speaker 1: been selling like they thought they would. I think they're
- 4:08Speaker 1: going to struggle with attendance unless they are really freaking good.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So we'll see if there's more activity from them the
- 4:14Speaker 1: rest of the off season. But let's get some breaking news.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Atlanta Braves building up their bullpen. Now it's Robert Suarez
- 4:25Speaker 1: three years of forty five million bucks. Jeff Passon breaks
- 4:28Speaker 1: it and then Ken Rosenthal adds that he heard Iglesias
- 4:32Speaker 1: will remain the Braves closer and Robert Suarez will be
- 4:35Speaker 1: the setup guy. That could change depending on how things
- 4:39Speaker 1: look during the season either way. Kratz, that's a nice
- 4:42Speaker 1: little one to two punch eight nine. I know Iglesias
- 4:45Speaker 1: had his struggles early on in the season, but then
- 4:47Speaker 1: he was gangbusters for them down the stretch. They bring
- 4:49Speaker 1: him on. I really like Robert Suarez, he too.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I mean, not many people knew about him until he
- 4:55Speaker 4: burst on the scene and twenty three No. Twenty two
- 5:00Speaker 4: and he ended up giving up that home run to
- 5:01Speaker 4: Bryce Harper, but he has he really has a unique
- 5:07Speaker 4: set of you know how how he faces guys. Can
- 5:11Speaker 4: he do that? Can he continue to do that with
- 5:15Speaker 4: predominantly fastballs, predominantly that late life fastball in the seventh
- 5:21Speaker 4: eighth inning. I'll tell you the bats in the seventh
- 5:24Speaker 4: and eighth are not necessarily the same at bats as
- 5:27Speaker 4: in the ninth. And Iglesias, I think, at the end
- 5:30Speaker 4: of the year plus with this contract, earned to be
- 5:35Speaker 4: the closer. But there's gonna be there's gonna be a
- 5:38Speaker 4: nice competition here, and really I get it. Everybody knows
- 5:42Speaker 4: three outs are three outs, but I'll be interested to
- 5:46Speaker 4: see how they really deploy Robert Suarez. Well they deploy
- 5:49Speaker 4: him in the seventh if you're facing the Phillies, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 4: Schober Harper Turner in the seventh or is he gonna
- 5:57Speaker 4: be a strict eighth inning guy. I'll be interesting to
- 5:59Speaker 4: see what Walt Weist does.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think you're totally excuse me, totally right
- 6:05Speaker 2: on that.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I mean you can say that now you know, spring
- 6:08Speaker 3: training will dictate that a little bit. You know, maybe
- 6:11Speaker 3: you know something happens where it's like, all right, we
- 6:13Speaker 3: might use him in this situation or not. You wish
- 6:15Speaker 3: kind of more guys were a little more receptive to
- 6:18Speaker 3: that kind of thing anyway to win. And I think
- 6:21Speaker 3: this is a monster pickup for the Braves. I think
- 6:23Speaker 3: this is a really good pick up Suarez. His strikeouts
- 6:25Speaker 3: were up, his control was down, or was better to
- 6:29Speaker 3: last year. I mean, he's a guy. He's a towering figure.
- 6:34Speaker 3: To me, at least, it looks like every time he
- 6:35Speaker 3: gets on there he's stoic. He doesn't really change his
- 6:38Speaker 3: mindset too much, and he just goes out there and pitches.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Whether he does good or not. He points to the
- 6:42Speaker 3: Lord and he just keeps on going. So for him,
- 6:46Speaker 3: good for him. Three years forty five. I thought that
- 6:48Speaker 3: was an awesome pickup. He'll go the braves again.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:51Speaker 3: They are not afraid of going out there and spending
- 6:54Speaker 3: in getting some guys, and it's and it seems like
- 6:56Speaker 3: it's like, oh, man, you know, they're not the Dodgers
- 6:58Speaker 3: spending millions of more like double or triple that amount
- 7:02Speaker 3: now forty five thirty here and there. They're defining ways
- 7:05Speaker 3: to get these these guys to come over.
- 7:07Speaker 2: And I think this is a really good pickup.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Do you guys like better, Devin Williams or Robert Suarez?
- 7:12Speaker 1: They signed for very close money.
- 7:18Speaker 2: For me right now, I.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Would say Robert Suarez just knowing on the fact of
- 7:22Speaker 3: what last year's performance.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, oh last year's performance. It's a good call. It's
- 7:28Speaker 1: not even close. I mean, yeah, we have er plus right,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and teams look at a lot of things. They're looking
- 7:33Speaker 1: at that pitch shape and stuff plus and expected numbers, right.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I mean, there have been plenty of guys this offseason,
- 7:40Speaker 1: for example, with four plus, the era's getting a lot
- 7:42Speaker 1: of money. Devin Williams is one of them. Robert Tuarez
- 7:45Speaker 1: has gotten it done with the traditional numbers too, Kratz.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I mean the ERA has been south of three back
- 7:50Speaker 1: to back years, and the ERA plus Parking League adjusted
- 7:53Speaker 1: one forty four this past season one forty nine the
- 7:56Speaker 1: year before.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I disagree Devin Williams. Why Devin Williams. I get it,
- 8:03Speaker 4: the peripherals are there, But what are you looking for
- 8:05Speaker 4: in a ninth inning? Are you looking for strikeouts? Clear advantage?
- 8:10Speaker 4: What are you looking for in a long term contract?
- 8:13Speaker 4: When I consider three years a long term contract, Devin
- 8:17Speaker 4: Williams will be Robert Suarez's age when his contract is over.
- 8:22Speaker 4: How is Robert Suarez going to age? What kind of
- 8:25Speaker 4: miles did he put on his body banging around the
- 8:29Speaker 4: minor leagues, banging around over in Japan till he was
- 8:33Speaker 4: thirty when he made it to the big leagues. To me,
- 8:36Speaker 4: I'll take because the money's similar. I know he had
- 8:39Speaker 4: a better year. I know Robert swaz had a better year.
- 8:42Speaker 4: But in my opinion, watching Devin Williams, I felt like
- 8:46Speaker 4: he was not used correctly. The pitch selection was not
- 8:50Speaker 4: used correctly. If the Mets can now they have a
- 8:53Speaker 4: new pitching coach. But if the Mets can figure that out.
- 8:57Speaker 4: I think this is a I think this will be
- 8:58Speaker 4: the better contract.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Let me let me ask you this though, But he's
- 9:02Speaker 3: he should be in control of his own pitch count. No,
- 9:05Speaker 3: if that's what you're saying, I'm not trying to call
- 9:06Speaker 3: you out, but him and the catcher should be on
- 9:09Speaker 3: the same page.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:10Speaker 2: So that's where it's like I hear you.
- 9:13Speaker 3: But at the same time, it's like, you're in control
- 9:15Speaker 3: of these outcomes here, dude. If you don't want to
- 9:17Speaker 3: throw your change of four or five times in a row,
- 9:19Speaker 3: you don't have to. I felt like for him and Craty,
- 9:21Speaker 3: I'll let you get your point. I felt like his
- 9:24Speaker 3: fastball wasn't there last year in my opinion, and it
- 9:28Speaker 3: made that change up look a little bit weaker. Because now,
- 9:31Speaker 3: all right, if you're not throwing strikes with the fastball,
- 9:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna sit on that change up he threw.
- 9:35Speaker 4: He threw ten percent more change ups. You have to
- 9:38Speaker 4: establish your fastball no matter what. Like I get it,
- 9:41Speaker 4: his change up is bugs Bunny has the highest spin
- 9:44Speaker 4: of any change up. Like guys don't see it. But
- 9:47Speaker 4: it's like we always talk about with Tommy Kinley, you
- 9:50Speaker 4: can't just keep throwing it. Oh wait, you can, but
- 9:53Speaker 4: it is it's something that when you pop that ninety five,
- 9:58Speaker 4: when you when you're able to touch that ninety seven,
- 10:01Speaker 4: I think there's I think there's part of it new,
- 10:03Speaker 4: a new area, and you are one hundred percent right.
- 10:05Speaker 4: I am not saying that. He said, oh, you know,
- 10:08Speaker 4: the pitch calling was was incorrect. But when you go
- 10:12Speaker 4: to an organization like the Yankees, when you go to
- 10:14Speaker 4: an organization like the Rays, the I'm trying to think
- 10:18Speaker 4: of other pitching pitching prowess teams, like you want to
- 10:22Speaker 4: believe Hey, you know what, they're gonna unlock some stuff.
- 10:25Speaker 4: You want to believe that. Okay, I hear what you're saying.
- 10:28Speaker 4: My pitch, my changeup. That's my pitch. It's the goat.
- 10:32Speaker 4: It's gotten me to where I am I can use
- 10:36Speaker 4: it more. Okay, I will, I will. I'll trust you.
- 10:38Speaker 4: I'll trust you. At some point, you have you make
- 10:42Speaker 4: the choice. And every time he grips that ball, he's
- 10:46Speaker 4: making the choice. Whether he's just like yeah, sure i'll
- 10:49Speaker 4: throw a change up. Yeah sure I'll throw a change up. Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 4: he's making that choice. I'm just saying I think there
- 10:56Speaker 4: is not everybody is built the exact same way that
- 11:00Speaker 4: their pitch is. What is going to like ultimately, go
- 11:04Speaker 4: to it, go to it, go to it, go to it.
- 11:06Speaker 4: I just don't think that's always the case.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And one has a better fastball, one has a better
- 11:10Speaker 1: change up, Todd Father, I mean, that's clear cut, right.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Devin Williams is known for his change up, Squarrez is
- 11:15Speaker 1: known for his fastball. You're trying to just get to
- 11:17Speaker 1: it and use it as much as possible. But I'll
- 11:19Speaker 1: take the heater, yeah, because you have to.
- 11:23Speaker 3: If you're not establishing your fastball, then as a professional,
- 11:27Speaker 3: if you can't find it, like I said before, if
- 11:29Speaker 3: you can't find it for a strike or you're not
- 11:31Speaker 3: thrown as often, I.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Know I'm getting two.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I'm getting at least two change ups, still.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Hard to hit.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I'm not saying Devin Williams is a bad pitcher. I
- 11:38Speaker 3: hope people understand. I think he's really, really good pitcher.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I just think the fastball wasn't ultimately there last year.
- 11:44Speaker 3: And when you take away a pitch from professional pitchers
- 11:49Speaker 3: and then the next one is usually their best pitch.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I'm gonna take my chances all day and know that
- 11:55Speaker 3: I'm going to get at least two of those change
- 11:56Speaker 3: ups if I work the count.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Right fan question, Buddy said, love it. Do you think
- 12:04Speaker 1: we need one more bullpen arm or get a starter
- 12:06Speaker 1: and put Holmes or Reynolds in the bullpen. I think
- 12:09Speaker 1: they might sign a bullpen arm, but it's not going
- 12:11Speaker 1: to be anything close to high leverage. They've got the
- 12:14Speaker 1: high leverage taken care of, and now you can mix
- 12:17Speaker 1: and match and see if you can find value for
- 12:19Speaker 1: a middle relief slash setup guy. That would be my
- 12:22Speaker 1: answer for now, Kratz. We'll see what happens with Lopez
- 12:27Speaker 1: and how he looks heading into spring training. I could
- 12:29Speaker 1: see a world where he ends up shifting back to
- 12:32Speaker 1: the bullpen. I think Holmes is a starter, and apparently
- 12:35Speaker 1: Holmes is in a really good spot already this offseason,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and I think they're going to keep turning him to
- 12:40Speaker 1: be a starter. That's just my take. We can get
- 12:42Speaker 1: some Braves expert analysis on hammer territory and for our
- 12:45Speaker 1: hammer guys, but I think it's safe to say they're
- 12:48Speaker 1: not also going to sign Pete Fairbanks. Do I think
- 12:51Speaker 1: they should? Yes, I'm the biggest believer in super bullpens
- 12:55Speaker 1: for what it does during the season and then of
- 12:57Speaker 1: course in the postseason, and it gives you in in
- 13:00Speaker 1: case one of these guys has a bad year. That
- 13:03Speaker 1: stuff happens all the time too.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Or you just are dominant. Like I'm not saying I
- 13:09Speaker 4: was at the genesis of super bullpens, but the twenty
- 13:12Speaker 4: fourteen bullpen where we went and for the Royals and
- 13:15Speaker 4: we went and lost Game seven of the World Series.
- 13:18Speaker 4: That's a good problem to have. You know what happened
- 13:21Speaker 4: the next year, dudes get hurt. Other guys have to
- 13:24Speaker 4: step in. So yeah, of course you want to see
- 13:27Speaker 4: the Braves go and get somebody else if you're a
- 13:29Speaker 4: Braves fan. But one thing I think organizations need to
- 13:34Speaker 4: continue to know what their superpower is. I'm talking back.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Since I started watching baseball, the Braves have produced pitching.
- 13:42Speaker 4: The Braves have produced starting pitching. Now they're still producing
- 13:46Speaker 4: starting pitching. Look a look at Holmes, look at Waldrop,
- 13:50Speaker 4: look at Smith Schalver, look at Ian Anderson, and they're
- 13:54Speaker 4: in their run back in uh when they won the
- 13:57Speaker 4: World Series in twenty twenty one. They produce star pitching.
- 14:00Speaker 4: And nowadays, when you're producing starting pitching, you're not producing dudes.
- 14:04Speaker 4: That they are just throwing like little cutter, sinker. All
- 14:06Speaker 4: this stuff I forgot Schwellenbach. You're producing dudes that throw hard.
- 14:11Speaker 4: They can transition those guys to the locations in the
- 14:14Speaker 4: bullpen that to me, I think they need from now on.
- 14:17Speaker 4: And that's why the Braves are really set up because
- 14:20Speaker 4: they always produced some type of young pitching to come up.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And I think Suarez, because he was such a late bloomer,
- 14:26Speaker 1: is still evolving more so than most relievers at his age.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Of course, you've got to maintain the fastball velo at
- 14:34Speaker 1: a high level when you're so fastball reliant, but he
- 14:36Speaker 1: almost doubled his change up usage last year. It's not
- 14:39Speaker 1: a great pitch for him. It's all about the four
- 14:41Speaker 1: seam and the two seam. But to offer a different
- 14:44Speaker 1: look I think was important. That was kind of the scattering,
- 14:46Speaker 1: important on how he can get a little better in
- 14:48Speaker 1: twenty five, and he was able to maintain the results. Also,
- 14:50Speaker 1: keep in mind a lot of the blip came when
- 14:52Speaker 1: there was a tip situation, right the famous picture slash
- 14:56Speaker 1: video last year with the red Sox and the tablet tablet,
- 14:59Speaker 1: and I think it was Cora and the dugout showing
- 15:01Speaker 1: the difference in the pre pitch setup with the fastball
- 15:04Speaker 1: and the change up, and it sounded like teams were
- 15:06Speaker 1: on that. And the report came out, pagers are like, yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: obviously we already know about this. Sounds like they fixed it,
- 15:11Speaker 1: So just throw that out there. Remember that.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I want somebody. I want somebody to come out one
- 15:17Speaker 4: time and be like, no, we had no idea. Thank
- 15:21Speaker 4: you ESPN, Apple TV for getting that shot. Whoever it
- 15:26Speaker 4: was that got the shot, Like, no, I had no idea,
- 15:30Speaker 4: Like don't don't ever let me be a big league manager.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I will play some games like that and be like,
- 15:35Speaker 4: are you guys kidding?
- 15:37Speaker 1: I would love that. I would I would die for
- 15:39Speaker 1: those postgame interviews Todd Father where Krats is like, oh
- 15:43Speaker 1: my goodness, I can't believe they picked that up for us, guys.
- 15:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to be quick on this press conference
- 15:48Speaker 1: today because I have to go talk to our team
- 15:50Speaker 1: about how to fix this tip that we already have
- 15:53Speaker 1: known about for three weeks and our team's been working
- 15:55Speaker 1: with him on every bullpen session, but just throng it
- 15:57Speaker 1: out there for numbers purposes. Point is, I'm I'm a
- 16:00Speaker 1: big fan of Robert Suarez. I do want to get
- 16:02Speaker 1: quickly to Mike Yuztremski. The name is well known, but
- 16:06Speaker 1: also the player's been really solid and consistent for years now,
- 16:09Speaker 1: and he signs up with the Braves. That one was
- 16:11Speaker 1: last night. So while we're on the topic, you get
- 16:13Speaker 1: mikeyusz Stremsky added to the mix, and it gives them
- 16:16Speaker 1: a lot of flexibility. And here's someone who had a
- 16:18Speaker 1: really nice season. It's two years, twenty three million bucks,
- 16:21Speaker 1: so that takes it through twenty twenty seven. There's a
- 16:22Speaker 1: club option for twenty twenty eight that's either seven million
- 16:25Speaker 1: dollars or a four million dollar buyout, which essentially means,
- 16:28Speaker 1: if he's still cranking pretty good, you're going to take
- 16:30Speaker 1: that because it's only a three million dollar difference, so
- 16:32Speaker 1: it almost to me looks like a three year deal
- 16:35Speaker 1: for thirty million dollars for him. So I give them
- 16:38Speaker 1: a lot of credit for adding someone that I think
- 16:40Speaker 1: will give them flexibility. And we don't know what Sean
- 16:43Speaker 1: Murphy's going to look like when he first comes back,
- 16:45Speaker 1: So assuming Drake Baldman is the catcher you've got, hopefully
- 16:48Speaker 1: for Brave purposes, du Bond and Nystremski. That can give
- 16:51Speaker 1: them flexibility even as bats off the bench to right.
- 16:54Speaker 1: One hits lefties really well, one hits righty's really well
- 16:57Speaker 1: and opens up some DH time for guys like Olsen
- 17:00Speaker 1: and Riley. I think they want to start to mix
- 17:02Speaker 1: those guys in with a little more DH time if possible,
- 17:05Speaker 1: so that they can get in their mind better offensive
- 17:07Speaker 1: production and not be rolling out the one sixty games
- 17:10Speaker 1: for everybody in the field.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Olson's not coming out. Olsen wants to play every single day.
- 17:16Speaker 4: That dude's gi me a DH once a month. I
- 17:20Speaker 4: think it's your boy. I think it's your boy who's
- 17:22Speaker 4: in right field. I think it's a Kunya. I think
- 17:25Speaker 4: you understand that he probably wants to be out there
- 17:29Speaker 4: every day too, But that DH spot you don't want
- 17:33Speaker 4: to put. You don't want to put a Kunya DH
- 17:36Speaker 4: and then run out what they've run out the last
- 17:38Speaker 4: few years. They've tried. Obviously they had to, they had
- 17:41Speaker 4: to bounce, you know, they had to really figure it
- 17:44Speaker 4: out with kelnick Eli White was kind of was filling
- 17:48Speaker 4: in like different different spots, and then they got profar
- 17:52Speaker 4: last year. Look what happened with that, Like you you
- 17:55Speaker 4: understand that your superstars in the outfield position need have
- 18:00Speaker 4: some you know, maybe maybe some days where he gets
- 18:02Speaker 4: off his feet and dhs. Maybe Acuna doesn't like it,
- 18:05Speaker 4: and maybe I'm completely wrong, but the issue with Yaz
- 18:08Speaker 4: is if you're not playing him every day, which I
- 18:11Speaker 4: get it they won't. He's thirty five, So what does
- 18:15Speaker 4: that look like for him? What does that look like?
- 18:18Speaker 4: How does he stay ready? Because to me, I think
- 18:21Speaker 4: there's there's not every day at bats for him and
- 18:26Speaker 4: until certain things shake out this offseason. I'm I like
- 18:31Speaker 4: the signing because he's a very productive bat. He's a
- 18:34Speaker 4: good piece, and I think they got the I think
- 18:36Speaker 4: they got a good number for him, But I'm just
- 18:38Speaker 4: wondering where at thirty five he's going to get his
- 18:40Speaker 4: every day at bats. And maybe they think, hey, we're
- 18:43Speaker 4: good with paying fourteen million for for a you know,
- 18:47Speaker 4: for three hundred and fifty at bats.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Well, it's ten million a year essentially if you're looking
- 18:51Speaker 1: at a three year deal, right, and even if it's two,
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's it's what eleven and change something like that. If
- 18:57Speaker 1: you're taking that number and you know they need depth
- 19:00Speaker 1: out with a lot of injuries. Profar also can do
- 19:02Speaker 1: a little DH time. I mean, your Stremski's going to
- 19:04Speaker 1: hit against right handed pitching and he's going to for
- 19:05Speaker 1: the most part, sit against left handed pitching these days, right,
- 19:08Speaker 1: So that's your flexibility. I'm off the bench, reliever comes in, boom,
- 19:11Speaker 1: big at bat for Yas. I think these are depth moves.
- 19:14Speaker 1: The Braves are like, we have money, we can spend
- 19:17Speaker 1: on a guy who's like a three and a half outfielder. Right,
- 19:19Speaker 1: He's not going to start every day, du Bond, He's
- 19:21Speaker 1: not going to start every day, hopefully if they land
- 19:24Speaker 1: their shortstop, which I still think could be someone like
- 19:26Speaker 1: Kim So. Anyway, I really like it from a depth
- 19:28Speaker 1: perspective for Atlanta. These are two really good moves. In
- 19:31Speaker 1: my mind, Atlanta is going to be a force again
- 19:34Speaker 1: next year. They're going to be a pain in the
- 19:35Speaker 1: ass in the NL East. In my mind, I don't
- 19:37Speaker 1: know how you guys feel, but you get a Kuna
- 19:39Speaker 1: full season, the whole deal. So good start the off
- 19:41Speaker 1: season for the Atlanta Braves. Let's get to a quickie
- 19:46Speaker 1: signing that will throw out there before our next guest.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Hoby Milner one year, three point seventy five million, Chicago Cubs.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Kras did you run across him? Because then I guess
- 19:57Speaker 1: it was Milwaukee after you were there. But anyway, very
- 20:00Speaker 1: unique picture. But he had a great year and the
- 20:03Speaker 1: Cubs are rebuilding their bullpen back up, so I'll take it.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm all for different looks. I like the variety out
- 20:09Speaker 1: of the pen.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I faced him in the minor leagues when
- 20:12Speaker 4: he was coming up Phillies kind of a kind of
- 20:18Speaker 4: just a funky, a funky look, a different look from
- 20:21Speaker 4: the left side, and he's created himself a nice career.
- 20:25Speaker 4: I didn't realize he was a free agent already, but
- 20:28Speaker 4: I think his his value will be in how he's used,
- 20:34Speaker 4: in the sense of you can't overuse him. And it's
- 20:37Speaker 4: not just a lefty lefty situation. He's able to He's
- 20:41Speaker 4: able to get outs against certain types of hitters because
- 20:45Speaker 4: of the action and the look on his ball. A
- 20:48Speaker 4: lefty coming from this way doesn't have high V low
- 20:52Speaker 4: but has done it for a long time, and you
- 20:54Speaker 4: know he's one of those lefty lefty has a pulse
- 20:58Speaker 4: and will travel. A surprise is I know war is
- 21:02Speaker 4: and everything, especially for relief pitchers, but I'm surprised to
- 21:05Speaker 4: see that his strikeouts were as high as they were,
- 21:08Speaker 4: I mean, fifty eight strikeouts, I'm sorry, as low as
- 21:10Speaker 4: they were. Fifty eight strikeouts and seventy innings. But he
- 21:13Speaker 4: goes out there in posts and he's going to be
- 21:15Speaker 4: a piece to that bullpen for him.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he keeps the walks down and he gets weak contact.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He gave seventy innings of work last year and ends
- 21:24Speaker 1: up getting himself a nice little paycheck. Cubs bullpen, they
- 21:27Speaker 1: lost a lot of guys, and they traded away Kittridge
- 21:30Speaker 1: again but got Polentcia. They signed Mayton. I think porter
- 21:34Speaker 1: Hodge has a high ceiling. Got Milliner in there and Brown.
- 21:37Speaker 1: If he's sticking in the bullpen, there's enough going on.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I mean, hopefully if your Cubs fan aside is more
- 21:42Speaker 1: of a bullpen guy and a swingman to fill in
- 21:44Speaker 1: for start, so he's there, Luke Little it's starting to
- 21:47Speaker 1: come together where it's looking pretty good and everyone knows
- 21:51Speaker 1: what the Cubs should be doing next, and that's also
- 21:53Speaker 1: focusing on starting pitching. Du Leo Vet MGM futures. We've
- 22:03Speaker 1: been racking them up, Todd Father, n Elsai Young Winner.
- 22:06Speaker 1: We're looking for value and actually there's plenty of value
- 22:09Speaker 1: in my mind in all three here you're getting decent odds.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Paul Skin's at plus three hundo, so it's three to one.
- 22:15Speaker 1: You got four and a half to one on Yamamoto,
- 22:17Speaker 1: and Christopher Sanchez at ten to one odds. What are
- 22:21Speaker 1: we thinking here, Todd Father, I mean we're just showing
- 22:23Speaker 1: the top three. Of course you can go deeper down.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But you like any of these?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I like Paul Skins, man, I just don't.
- 22:32Speaker 3: I mean, it's the top pick. The guy has just
- 22:34Speaker 3: been incredible. I think you go with him at the
- 22:38Speaker 3: top and then yeah, I mean plus one thousand. I
- 22:42Speaker 3: don't think you can go bad with that. For Sanchoz.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I mean it's it's an easy yeah, it put whatever
- 22:47Speaker 3: you want on it, but you gotta take a guy
- 22:50Speaker 3: that's down below there.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I do like Sanchos too as well.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I think he nailed it for me Kratz because he
- 22:56Speaker 1: didn't say Yamamoto. I love Yamamoto, But the Dodge take
- 23:00Speaker 1: care of their pitchers during the season. They've got twenty starters,
- 23:03Speaker 1: and I know that starts to dwindle, but they're well
- 23:05Speaker 1: aware that Yamamoto pitched a lot in October. So that's
- 23:09Speaker 1: one where I'm shying away.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't get on the fact that Yamamoto's gone
- 23:17Speaker 4: blue past his starts, that he's the amount of starts
- 23:20Speaker 4: he's ever had. And I get it he pitches once
- 23:22Speaker 4: every six days, but he you know, I just don't
- 23:25Speaker 4: see he could have the same production. But I don't
- 23:28Speaker 4: see the same amount of innings because they're playing for
- 23:30Speaker 4: another ring, which I don't blame him. Paul skeens, this
- 23:34Speaker 4: is huge. This is a huge you know, that's a
- 23:37Speaker 4: big number for me for the Favorite plus three hundred.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I really like that number. And when I go down
- 23:42Speaker 4: the list, I would love to drop a little bit
- 23:44Speaker 4: on Logan Web and maybe because if it were was
- 23:49Speaker 4: maybe more like sixteen to one. Right now it's twelve
- 23:52Speaker 4: to one. Hunter Green, I think has taken that next step.
- 23:55Speaker 4: I think Hunter Green's figured out how to stay healthy.
- 23:58Speaker 4: He's taking the next step of how to be a
- 24:00Speaker 4: guy who doesn't have to you know, at just emptiest
- 24:04Speaker 4: clip in the first three innings, he's now pitching and
- 24:08Speaker 4: still getting those numbers at twelve to one. I really
- 24:12Speaker 4: like Hunter Green to win the sy Young. I feel like,
- 24:14Speaker 4: you know, we could have somebody that could step up
- 24:17Speaker 4: like Christopher Sanchez stepped up this year and take it
- 24:20Speaker 4: if it's not Skeens, because Schemes has shown he's not
- 24:23Speaker 4: letting anybody else win this award.
- 24:25Speaker 1: M hmm, I like that one. Hey, bet MGM's not
- 24:29Speaker 1: now live in Missouri too, so take advantage of that
- 24:31Speaker 1: new sign up offer. Bonus code foul up to fifteen
- 24:34Speaker 1: hundred dollars on a new player offer on your first
- 24:36Speaker 1: wager with bet MGM. Make it legendary. You get that
- 24:39Speaker 1: paid back in bonus bets if you don't win, up
- 24:41Speaker 1: to fifteen hundred on that bet, depending on what you play.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Gambling problem or concern, Call one eight hundred gambler for
- 24:53Speaker 1: any hit. Todd Father right off the jump here for
- 24:55Speaker 1: his thoughts and then krats can take over. Minor league
- 24:58Speaker 1: rule change experiment could eliminate hit her timeouts. Todd Father.
- 25:01Speaker 1: They're trying to take the game time down because it's
- 25:03Speaker 1: actually creeping back up again. We're at two hours and
- 25:06Speaker 1: thirty eight minutes. The league would like it to be
- 25:07Speaker 1: two and a half. They're trying to game plan. We
- 25:10Speaker 1: do see a timeout per at bat essentially for hitters,
- 25:13Speaker 1: so they're going to experiment your thoughts on this.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't mind it. I don't mind it at all.
- 25:20Speaker 3: You know, I've always had problems trying to read what
- 25:24Speaker 3: MLB is trying to do. You know, you get one
- 25:27Speaker 3: time out for plate appearance. I don't mind that.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I know.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I'm probably sure everybody's gonna use that, you know, just
- 25:33Speaker 3: because pitchers trying to speed you up. Yeah, I don't
- 25:38Speaker 3: mind doing stuff in the minor leagues trying to check
- 25:40Speaker 3: it out to see if it'll work in the big leagues.
- 25:43Speaker 2: I don't mind that.
- 25:44Speaker 3: But if it's if it's very far fetched, then you know,
- 25:46Speaker 3: it's a bigger issue. But I thought everything was working well.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Besides, you know, all of a sudden, you know, now
- 25:53Speaker 3: we can you can tap your head if you want another,
- 25:56Speaker 3: you know, if they want them to check the pitch.
- 25:57Speaker 3: I think that's really good. But ultimately, yeah, I don't,
- 26:02Speaker 3: I don't. I don't see the big problem in this.
- 26:03Speaker 3: I think this will be just fine.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I'm glad you're saying that. I think Kratz is gonna disagree.
- 26:08Speaker 1: But Kratz, they're doing this also because of the ABS
- 26:10Speaker 1: challenge system, and they think it could creep up the
- 26:12Speaker 1: minutes and they just don't want to get back to
- 26:14Speaker 1: three hours again. The pace is good, and hey, for me,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I'm just giving you fan perspective. Krats, krats. It's not
- 26:19Speaker 1: just the time, it's the pace. Like hit her time
- 26:22Speaker 1: out and I gotta wait thirty seconds for him to,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you know, fit fix the jockstrap and do all the
- 26:27Speaker 1: bs and think about what he wants to do the
- 26:29Speaker 1: rest of the ab screw it. I want to watch
- 26:32Speaker 1: the game keep going.
- 26:33Speaker 4: We're telling, we're telling Tied to get out of here,
- 26:35Speaker 4: so I just want to push his screen and just
- 26:37Speaker 4: like get it at like, see see how that happened.
- 26:40Speaker 4: I control this I control this show. For that comment, No,
- 26:46Speaker 4: that just shows that Todd didn't need the minor leagues.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Todd didn't need the minor leagues. Just dudes that are
- 26:50Speaker 4: grinding in the minor leagues. There's guys that need to like,
- 26:53Speaker 4: oh man, everything's going so fast. I gotta I got
- 26:56Speaker 4: to create a routine. Hitting is not just oh whack it. No,
- 27:02Speaker 4: it's like you're figuring out the time and you're figuring out, Okay,
- 27:06Speaker 4: what did he just do? How did that change the
- 27:09Speaker 4: situation that we were just in? How is this, Oh crap,
- 27:14Speaker 4: I got a bug in my eye. Like, I get it.
- 27:16Speaker 4: There's a lot of eye wash timeouts, you know, Jose
- 27:22Speaker 4: cabiiro is probably the best at it. But it's also
- 27:25Speaker 4: part of the gamesmanship. It's also part of the fact
- 27:28Speaker 4: that you can, like you can change how the pace
- 27:32Speaker 4: of an at bad is going. And it's hard to
- 27:34Speaker 4: explain without you actually being in the moment and saying, hey,
- 27:38Speaker 4: why did you use the time out there? I wanted
- 27:40Speaker 4: to slow him down. I felt like he was landing
- 27:42Speaker 4: all of his pitches. I wanted to figure out, hey,
- 27:44Speaker 4: would he double up on this pitch or whatever it is?
- 27:47Speaker 4: And you're taking that away from the minor league guys.
- 27:50Speaker 4: I hate I hate it because these guys have no
- 27:54Speaker 4: these guys have no recourse. There's nobody standing up for him,
- 27:57Speaker 4: and Major League Baseball just says, you're our guinea pig.
- 28:01Speaker 4: We're probably gonna actually take away low a in a
- 28:04Speaker 4: little bit because we're a bunch of cheap punks who
- 28:07Speaker 4: don't want to pay for kids' dreams to develop into
- 28:11Speaker 4: big leaguers. Because dudes do come out of those leagues.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Dudes do. It's not all just it's not all just
- 28:16Speaker 4: first rounders. It's not all just second rounders or big
- 28:19Speaker 4: bonus guys. And I lean towards that. And to me,
- 28:22Speaker 4: when you take this away from a hitter when they're
- 28:25Speaker 4: facing dudes that throw a billion, and especially in low A,
- 28:31Speaker 4: I mean it is, dudes are throwing rocks up there,
- 28:34Speaker 4: they're throwing balls. You know, they'll paying a slider down
- 28:37Speaker 4: in a way and then you'll get a hundred running
- 28:39Speaker 4: up and in at your chin. You need a second,
- 28:42Speaker 4: You need to take a breath. And I hate that
- 28:45Speaker 4: they would take this away from these guys for what
- 28:48Speaker 4: for what? Scott, three extra minutes? Stop like that? To me,
- 28:55Speaker 4: in the big leagues, you think you think the timeouts
- 28:58Speaker 4: are saving or save three extra minutes in the game.
- 29:03Speaker 1: More than that, I do. I think it would be
- 29:05Speaker 1: closer to ten. You got to think about it. Let's
- 29:07Speaker 1: say we have a long inning. Right there's been ten
- 29:10Speaker 1: dudes at the plate, they all call time out. That
- 29:14Speaker 1: right there could add up to a few minutes in
- 29:15Speaker 1: an inning alone, and even in a short inning, right
- 29:19Speaker 1: three AB's batter time out. I don't know what the
- 29:22Speaker 1: average timeout is, but it's not five seconds. Probably at
- 29:26Speaker 1: least ten to twenty.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I'd be up for I'd be up for a time out,
- 29:29Speaker 4: like a ten second timeout if you're a quarter timeout,
- 29:34Speaker 4: if you're cutting, if you're splitting hairs, I'd be up
- 29:37Speaker 4: for that. You can say, okay, you know timeout and
- 29:41Speaker 4: then they you know, they give this and they reset
- 29:44Speaker 4: the clock to ten seconds, and at ten seconds then
- 29:47Speaker 4: they reset the clock like there's there's timing there. I
- 29:51Speaker 4: feel I feel bad for the pictures. I think the
- 29:53Speaker 4: pictures in the big leagues need a timeout. They need
- 29:54Speaker 4: to be able to step off with nobody on. They
- 29:58Speaker 4: need to step off, and they're not.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Giving wait krats, hold up. Two things. Number one, you
- 30:06Speaker 1: can step off. It just counts as a step off, right,
- 30:09Speaker 1: And if you do that.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Nobody with nobody on, you can't step off.
- 30:13Speaker 1: The clock is running, okay. You also can call time
- 30:17Speaker 1: out and have a little chit chat with your catcher.
- 30:19Speaker 1: That's allowed.
- 30:19Speaker 4: That's a mountain visit.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I know that's part of a mount visit. But that's
- 30:23Speaker 1: a thing. The other thing that I think is important
- 30:25Speaker 1: is discretion. The reason that we have human beings on
- 30:28Speaker 1: the field that get paid quite well to police the
- 30:31Speaker 1: game is for a moment when there's serious chin music
- 30:35Speaker 1: and a guy needs a moment, right ball hits a
- 30:38Speaker 1: catcher in the nuts, let's fake like we got to
- 30:40Speaker 1: clean the plate. I think that's the way that you
- 30:44Speaker 1: help to bridge the gap. The problem is most abskrats
- 30:49Speaker 1: don't need it. I know that you feel as if
- 30:52Speaker 1: a player needs it, but it's the same conversation that
- 30:54Speaker 1: I had with pitchers when they were anti pitchclock, and
- 30:57Speaker 1: the pitch clock has been one of the best things
- 30:59Speaker 1: for the sport. And the only reason we didn't have
- 31:01Speaker 1: it five to seven years ago is because the league
- 31:04Speaker 1: and the player's side do not get along. We should
- 31:06Speaker 1: have had that long long ago. But anyway, we have
- 31:09Speaker 1: it now, and to me, the game is crisper and
- 31:11Speaker 1: it is a much better viewing experience. I know I'm
- 31:15Speaker 1: going to get plenty of pushback from the old school
- 31:17Speaker 1: fans that never want to see a single thing change.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I am actually old school because I grew up watching
- 31:21Speaker 1: the game in the eighties and the nineties, and for me,
- 31:23Speaker 1: that's when the game was at a much better pace
- 31:26Speaker 1: and we've gotten back to that. They're just trying to
- 31:28Speaker 1: figure out ways to make sure that it doesn't creep
- 31:30Speaker 1: back to three hours because the ABS Challenge system could
- 31:33Speaker 1: add minutes to it and could add a little bit
- 31:35Speaker 1: of a slower pace. I don't think it's going to
- 31:37Speaker 1: make a big difference. I don't think the ABS is
- 31:39Speaker 1: going to suddenly add ten minutes. But they're just concerned
- 31:42Speaker 1: that teams and players are really smart and they figure
- 31:45Speaker 1: out ways to take advantage of every single rule in
- 31:47Speaker 1: every single system, and that is their job. Their job
- 31:49Speaker 1: is to win and their job is to thrive. So
- 31:52Speaker 1: the league is pushing back and making sure that we
- 31:55Speaker 1: stay more in that two and a half range and
- 31:58Speaker 1: we don't get back to two forty five fifty three
- 32:00Speaker 1: hour plus games. If you think this isn't the right thing,
- 32:05Speaker 1: then offer other solutions, because they're not going to let
- 32:08Speaker 1: the sport slow down again.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Okay, I need to see I need to see the number.
- 32:14Speaker 4: I need to see the number of how slow it's
- 32:16Speaker 4: actually gonna get to with ABS and with the timeouts,
- 32:21Speaker 4: Like there needs to be a cap with like what
- 32:24Speaker 4: we're taking away because of the fact that I know
- 32:27Speaker 4: what my mind is doing in the box. We talk
- 32:31Speaker 4: about it all the time with Max Munsey on here.
- 32:32Speaker 4: We talk about all the time. With winning teams, you
- 32:35Speaker 4: have team at bats boom, first pitch out, guy comes up.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Second pitch of his at bat, ground ball. Now we're
- 32:43Speaker 4: at three pitches, two outs. Okay, you come up, you're
- 32:48Speaker 4: taking two pitches. Pitchers in a groove boomy, lands a curveball,
- 32:52Speaker 4: lands a heater. Now you're down oh two. Your mind
- 32:56Speaker 4: isn't like, oh, it's okay, I'll just see a baseball
- 32:58Speaker 4: coming at me here. No, your mind is like, gosh,
- 33:00Speaker 4: darn it, that's the worst time that could happen. Timeout. Timeout.
- 33:06Speaker 4: I need to slow this down. I need to re group.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I need to know I have one pitch left and
- 33:12Speaker 4: I haven't even really had a competitive at bat yet,
- 33:15Speaker 4: and I'm O two. Because there's times when you have
- 33:17Speaker 4: six hundred at bats in a season, your mind is
- 33:20Speaker 4: just like, oh my gosh, did I come up to
- 33:22Speaker 4: the plate, oh two, Like they're like now batting Eric Kratz,
- 33:26Speaker 4: oh in two, and you're like, what the what the heck?
- 33:29Speaker 4: Like there's times that that's going on, and I think
- 33:32Speaker 4: the timeout allows you to slow that down, and you
- 33:36Speaker 4: have to learn that at the minor leagues because when
- 33:38Speaker 4: you get to the big leagues, who baby stuff starts
- 33:41Speaker 4: going fast?
- 33:42Speaker 1: Okay, do you want one time out per inning for hitters.
- 33:45Speaker 1: One timeout per hitter is an issue. Two timeouts per
- 33:50Speaker 1: inning for hitters, Okay, see we can negotiate. Now we
- 33:53Speaker 1: can start to work off of that. And it does
- 33:55Speaker 1: give you one other thing you have to pay attention to.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But these are smart hitters, and if you put it
- 33:59Speaker 1: in a place where they can see it and they're
- 34:00Speaker 1: well aware of it, I think that's your spot. And again,
- 34:03Speaker 1: if something anti Larry happens like chin music, guys freaking
- 34:07Speaker 1: helmet flies off, there's discretion here. But just for your
- 34:11Speaker 1: average inning, if we have an inning where there's six
- 34:14Speaker 1: dudes at the plate, that would take us from six
- 34:16Speaker 1: timeouts to two. And the one problem in my mind
- 34:19Speaker 1: with baseball ten years ago was unlimited timeouts. Then we
- 34:23Speaker 1: started limiting the mound visits. That part alone is still underrated.
- 34:26Speaker 1: You know. I bring that up all the time because
- 34:28Speaker 1: that was my prime days of being at games, and
- 34:30Speaker 1: the amount of times that certain catchers in baseball would
- 34:33Speaker 1: call timeout almost every ab and go have a chit
- 34:35Speaker 1: chat with their picture was insane. And half the times
- 34:37Speaker 1: you talk to the picture and they'd be like, Yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 1: that's just their thing. They're doing it every ab Now,
- 34:41Speaker 1: that was terrible that was done, and that was where
- 34:43Speaker 1: you were taking advantage of rules because we didn't used
- 34:45Speaker 1: to have that right. The rule never existed that we
- 34:48Speaker 1: had to limit the timeouts, but it was caused by
- 34:50Speaker 1: gamesmanship on the field. So are we negotiating right now
- 34:54Speaker 1: where we get two timeouts in an inning? And should
- 34:56Speaker 1: you text one of your buddies at the league office?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Is Rolla Banya's or some like that still working there.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I can text Michael Hill, maybe one of those guys
- 35:03Speaker 1: the league office and throw that their way.
- 35:06Speaker 4: I would love it, But I just want I just
- 35:08Speaker 4: want somebody to look out for the minor leaguers and
- 35:10Speaker 4: not to use them as freaking guinea pigs. Don't raise
- 35:13Speaker 4: the mound, don't extend the mound. This isn't like indie ball.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I get it, you know, I feel bad for the
- 35:19Speaker 4: indie ball guys, but you know, maybe that's the place
- 35:21Speaker 4: to try it. Not a guy who's getting his feet
- 35:24Speaker 4: wet and it's the first time he's ever been away
- 35:26Speaker 4: from his home. Facing dudes are throwing one hundred and
- 35:30Speaker 4: you're like, oh, yeah, I'm just trying to survive here.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Holy crap, I saw I saw in a Jason Stark's
- 35:36Speaker 4: article Low A where they would start this. In the
- 35:40Speaker 4: three Low A leagues, Low A hitters average is at
- 35:44Speaker 4: two thirty one. They hit two thirty one on average
- 35:49Speaker 4: because of how tough the pitching is. Right now, you're
- 35:52Speaker 4: gonna make it this is will make it tougher for hitters.
- 35:55Speaker 4: I completely agree. It will make it tougher.
- 35:59Speaker 1: For I agree with you that part. I don't dispute.
- 36:04Speaker 1: And they have to experiment somewhere. They're not going to
- 36:07Speaker 1: bring things straight to the bigs. They have to do
- 36:09Speaker 1: it somewhere. There's only so many places where you can experiment.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I'm with you. It sucks. It's not ideal. It could
- 36:14Speaker 1: cost a player in a b that costs him a
- 36:16Speaker 1: spot on a team. But I don't always have the
- 36:18Speaker 1: best solution. I'm just saying the problem is they get
- 36:21Speaker 1: worried about pacing game time. It's a good debate. We
- 36:23Speaker 1: can bring it on with AJ and more Todd Father
- 36:25Speaker 1: at some point. Now, let's lap we're so good today
- 36:40Speaker 1: three o'clock on the dot, three hundred thousand subscribers is
- 36:44Speaker 1: the next goal for us. We're getting close. I'd like
- 36:46Speaker 1: to get there either right before right after the new year.
- 36:49Speaker 1: That'd be nice. So tell your friends if you're watching
- 36:52Speaker 1: us right now, and we'll be on tomorrow to cover
- 36:54Speaker 1: more trades and signings, and we're on every single weekday
- 36:56Speaker 1: baseball the way it should be covered. And it's not
- 36:59Speaker 1: just te Fair Territory Special edition episode tomorrow with Ken Rosenthal,
- 37:03Speaker 1: which I'm very much looking forward to, a recap from
- 37:05Speaker 1: Ken on winter meetings, and really it's not just the
- 37:08Speaker 1: recap on what happened, it's what he's hearing while he's there.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I see Ken in the lobby the whole time. I
- 37:13Speaker 1: did a lot of like little shoulder tap, like I'm
- 37:15Speaker 1: passing by you. I'm not going to say a formal
- 37:17Speaker 1: high because I know how busy you are, and I
- 37:19Speaker 1: see him walking with front office people and chatting with them.
- 37:22Speaker 1: So it's cool to see Ken really in his element.
- 37:25Speaker 1: And he'll give you some word tomorrow on what else
- 37:27Speaker 1: he's hearing about what's coming up next in terms of
- 37:30Speaker 1: trades and signings. Also, Dodgers' Territory five o'clock Eastern today
- 37:33Speaker 1: a special time for them two o'clock West Coast as
- 37:36Speaker 1: they'll bring on Jerry Harriston Junior to talk about what
- 37:38Speaker 1: the Dodgers have done so far this offseason, which is
- 37:41Speaker 1: actually more than most teams. They signed Edwin Diaz. We'll
- 37:44Speaker 1: see what's next. One thing we didn't get to that
- 37:46Speaker 1: I hope they get to on Dodgers' territory today is
- 37:49Speaker 1: continuous rumors about taoscar Hernandez being floated in trade talks.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Their jam Brandon Gomes kind of shut it down. But
- 37:55Speaker 1: if you keep seeing it float out there by people
- 37:57Speaker 1: that you trust, oh no, no, We'll see what Alana and
- 38:01Speaker 1: Clinton have to say, along with Jerry kratsat's on the
- 38:04Speaker 1: way out, and then you can say to goodbye.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I love seeing all the all the uh, all the
- 38:09Speaker 4: rumors too about Trek Scubel to the Dodgers. Love love
- 38:13Speaker 4: seeing all these rumors. Some people that are saying they
- 38:16Speaker 4: have insight on it. Crazy to me. But anyway, we'll see,
- 38:21Speaker 4: We'll see what happens, and then all these people who
- 38:23Speaker 4: are just throwing stuff out will be like, oh yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 4: I told you, Oh yeah, right, Okay. If I say
- 38:28Speaker 4: everyone's gonna hit a homer, somebody will hit a homer. Marlins.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I think they're gonna have a bigger part of this
- 38:34Speaker 4: off season than what people think. So I wore my
- 38:38Speaker 4: Marlins hat today.
- 38:40Speaker 1: That's a good prediction. And yes, some people do predict
- 38:43Speaker 1: a homer on every ab and then you're right once
- 38:45Speaker 1: out of you.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Know, clip that clip that Scott said Peter Lonzo was
- 38:51Speaker 4: gonna hit a homer. Tyler O'Neal is gonna hit a
- 38:55Speaker 4: homer on opening Day. Tyler O'Neil, I'm saying it right now.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Clip this December. If he's healthy, he's going to hit
- 39:04Speaker 4: a home run one opening day.
- 39:06Speaker 1: That is his thing. We'll see you tomorrow more Toddfather Kratz,
- 39:10Speaker 1: Me and guests,
