- 0:00Welcome to Break Fixes, Drive-Through News, your monthly recap for
- 0:03everything fast, fascinating, and usually four wheeled.
- 0:06We're serving up a fresh batch of automotive headlines, motorsports
- 0:10madness, and car adjacent curiosities, all with zero wait time and
- 0:13maximum flavor from Formula One.
- 0:15Drama to concept car debuts with garage built legends.
- 0:18To the quirkiest stories rolling out of the state of Florida.
- 0:21We've got your fix.
- 0:22So grab your coffee, buckle up, and let's cruise through the latest in the world
- 0:26of wheels with a side of entertainment and just a dash of tire smoke.
- 0:33Hi guys.
- 0:34Hi, Brad.
- 0:35What's up?
- 0:36Yes.
- 0:36When was the last time we did one of these?
- 0:38Feels like it's been a while.
- 0:40October.
- 0:41What we didn't, when did we?
- 0:44We, I thought we did one in November.
- 0:45No, because November is always the holiday special.
- 0:48Last year we did the game show and all that stuff, and then we do the
- 0:51holiday gift exchange and all that.
- 0:53And then December was the Formula One retrospective.
- 0:57Right.
- 0:57So this is the winter recap.
- 0:59We get to talk about everything that happened since October, basically
- 1:02when we went into hibernation.
- 1:04So you mean it's gonna be a really short episode?
- 1:06I mean, I don't think anything really happened with the absence
- 1:11of Formula One in the episode.
- 1:12Yeah, everybody gets back half an hour of their day.
- 1:14Lucky them.
- 1:16Welcome to drive through episode number 64, our 64th drive through episode.
- 1:22Can you believe it?
- 1:23No, we've only skipped two in the entirety of break fix.
- 1:28We've only skipped two drive-through episodes.
- 1:30Can you believe that?
- 1:31Uh, no.
- 1:31You don't listen anyway.
- 1:32So the difference is so, so, so you have only skipped two.
- 1:36I've skipped a couple because I popped out babies and all that good stuff.
- 1:39Oh, that's true.
- 1:40Yeah, that's true.
- 1:40So I've skipped a lot more than two.
- 1:42That's very true.
- 1:43We did have some fill-ins there over time.
- 1:45So mad shout out to our guest hosts that have come on in
- 1:48the past to fill in your size.
- 1:4913 loafers.
- 1:50Yes, my loafers.
- 1:52Did you get anything good for Christmas?
- 1:54I didn't get anything for Christmas.
- 1:55What you can imagine.
- 1:58Why.
- 1:58Oh, well, yeah, I, I can't, I mean, so yeah, I, yeah, literally I got nothing.
- 2:03I mean, I got car parts delivered to the house for Christmas, but they're
- 2:06yours, so Does that really count?
- 2:09Yeah, I bought myself stuff for Christmas.
- 2:13Yeah.
- 2:13Well, we'll get into that Winter recap.
- 2:16Traditionally, we look back over the months that we haven't been recording
- 2:21the drive through and kind of see what's been going on in the automotive industry.
- 2:24'cause it's a slow time of year.
- 2:26Even though, as I constantly remind you, the beginning of
- 2:29the sales cycle is September.
- 2:30So if we are now almost like halfway through the sales year at this
- 2:36point, nothing's really going on.
- 2:38But there have been some significant changes and maybe some backpedaling, we'll
- 2:42call it that in the automotive industry during the winter months, Instagram
- 2:47posts from the car News network, sort of by way of BMW, the EU officially
- 2:52kills the 2035 combustion engine ban.
- 2:57Clickbait or is there some truth to this?
- 2:59That's not exactly what they're doing.
- 3:01They're relaxing the requirement that by 2035 propulsion system is a hundred
- 3:08percent clean and they're relaxing at 90%.
- 3:10So you have a 10% window there to pollute.
- 3:14So you still have to have a really efficient ice engine, or it's a hybrid.
- 3:19Basically, and you're using very little fuel, so it's not clear cut that, oh, EVs
- 3:24are out and we're just going right back to gas guzzling four cylinders in Europe.
- 3:30Right?
- 3:30Right.
- 3:31So I think it's more nuanced than that.
- 3:33I think there's an ounce of credibility to at least this sentiment that governments
- 3:38around the world are rolling back.
- 3:40The hard and fast mandates that we were gonna go all electric
- 3:44by, you know, 2027 by 2029, and the dial kept moving towards 11.
- 3:49Right?
- 3:49So 20, 35.
- 3:50And now we're walking back from that.
- 3:52And one of the things that I think resonates with what I saw from Cars News
- 3:57Network is Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, put out a statement and inside of there,
- 4:02there was a paragraph that I pulled out and I'll, I'll read it for you.
- 4:04It says, Ford CEO, Jim Farley was inspired to lead an overhaul of
- 4:09the automaker's electric vehicle strategy after examining rival EVs.
- 4:13And on a recent podcast, Jim Farley said he came down to the shocking.
- 4:17Quote unquote realization that Ford needed a major company reset after
- 4:21tearing down Tesla and the Chinese EVs, and noticing how much less electrical
- 4:26wiring they required, yada, yada, yada.
- 4:28And despite a recent EV slowdown in the us, Farley believes EV
- 4:33innovation remains vital globally.
- 4:35However, in that same breath, yeah, yeah.
- 4:38EVs are great and wonderful.
- 4:39It continues on.
- 4:40The one line that you pull out of that is Ford is considering
- 4:44scrapping its electric F-150 pickup, which means the lightning is gone.
- 4:49Mach E sales are down.
- 4:50I mean, obviously there's all the controversy over Mustang Mach e,
- 4:53Mach E, what is it really called?
- 4:54Who cares what it's called?
- 4:56Right.
- 4:56I don't know if that's really controversy.
- 4:58That's just us going back and forth, like boomers about badge engineering.
- 5:02Yeah.
- 5:02Yeah.
- 5:02I mean, enthusiasts aren't happy about it, but, but the real thing is the
- 5:06sales numbers of Mach E, they were okay.
- 5:08They weren't great, but the F-150 lightning, as we know, that kept
- 5:12getting its truck bed handed to it in every competition it was put in.
- 5:16Sometimes it would pull ahead of like a cyber truck or whatever, you know, one
- 5:19of the other electric EVs that's out there, but it's not what people want.
- 5:23Right?
- 5:23And the whole farce of it can charge itself.
- 5:25You remember that whole thing and you're like, it doesn't surprise me in
- 5:29a world of a hundred thousand dollars pickup trucks that the F-150 lightning
- 5:32is not something that people want.
- 5:34I thought we'd been talking about manufacturers backtracking on the.
- 5:40Full ev thing for like the last year though.
- 5:42That's not something that's new.
- 5:44Yeah, it's not new.
- 5:45And a lot of it has to do with the tax credit, incentives, whatever,
- 5:48for purchasing 'em being erased.
- 5:51Right.
- 5:51Suddenly people don't wanna buy 'em anymore, which I'm like,
- 5:54how much was this incentive?
- 5:55Really?
- 5:55It's not like they were free.
- 5:56They were still really expensive.
- 5:58Yeah.
- 5:58Overly expensive.
- 5:59Well, relief might be in sight, and I feel like I'm being partially
- 6:03vindicated here in some ways.
- 6:04I've been arguing for six years now that we needed to borrow
- 6:0840-year-old trained technology and come up with a better hybrid system
- 6:12than the hybrid that we're using.
- 6:14And we saw inklings of this in the past.
- 6:17If you guys remember, Audi had built that two liter turbo generator system on one
- 6:22other Decar prototype things, and it ran it like 9 billion RPM to make electricity
- 6:27to power the electrical system.
- 6:29One of their e-tron prototypes or whatever.
- 6:31Well, that.
- 6:32Is sort of the way people are starting to lean in the market now you're seeing more
- 6:36reports of we should use gas and diesel as a generator to create electricity
- 6:43and we can double and triple the range of these electric vehicles with like
- 6:47a one cylinder gas power generator.
- 6:49I mean, they're gonna be bigger than that, right?
- 6:50They're gonna be four cylinders, more than likely, stuff like that.
- 6:53But I found it funny.
- 6:54There was an article from the Audi Club and I just started
- 6:57singing Diesel's back, back again.
- 7:00Diesel's back because TDI hybrid Audi launching the next generation V six diesel
- 7:06for its Q five and its a six series.
- 7:09So Dieselgate on the end of the world, diesels are back, baby.
- 7:14Well, not here though.
- 7:16Not yet.
- 7:16It's only a matter of time.
- 7:18Mm. All they have to do is make them actually cleaner without cheating.
- 7:24And as a generator, they can do that because it's basically idling and they
- 7:29can come up with all sorts of exhaust, gas recirculation, catalytic, combustion
- 7:33incineration process to make it super clean and emit, you know, wafts of
- 7:38rat breath out the back or something.
- 7:39I don't know.
- 7:40But the point is, in my mind, diesel electric hybrid, as I've
- 7:44been saying, makes way more sense.
- 7:47And I know big oil doesn't wanna hear that because they wanna sell more gasoline.
- 7:50Right?
- 7:50Big oil sells diesel too, at like $700 a gallon too.
- 7:55But that's just it.
- 7:56So is this gonna affect the price of diesel long term that, you know, we can
- 7:59get into all that whole economic debate.
- 8:01But the thing is, it makes more sense to have like a high torque, low rev
- 8:06diesel little generator than a gas motor that's gotta run at, you know, 9,000
- 8:11RPM to generate the same kilowatt hours that's necessary to charge the system.
- 8:15So I'm really excited about this.
- 8:18I feel like it's 10 years too late.
- 8:20Like we should have started at this point, not done the fully electric unicorn farts
- 8:24and you know, lithium powered everything.
- 8:26Excited to see where this goes.
- 8:28Longer term.
- 8:29Yes.
- 8:30$150,000. Audi TDI.
- 8:33Did you expect anything less?
- 8:35Meanwhile over at Jaguar, we talked about this car before.
- 8:39Remember the one that they officially showed at Pebble Beach this year,
- 8:44which had only been in like concept drawings and designs, and you're
- 8:47like, man, did AI generate this car?
- 8:48It looked like something out of Batman in the animated series.
- 8:51Super cartoony Jaguar.
- 8:52And then, you know, they went through the whole backlash with changing the
- 8:55logo and you know, Jaguar lost its weight and all this kind of thing.
- 8:58Well, as a result of all the negative publicity from the Type zero zero
- 9:03concept, that cartoon Jaguar, I was just referencing, they fired Jerry
- 9:08McGovern after 20 years at Jaguar who.
- 9:15Exactly if you're in that circle, the circle of Land Rover, Jaguar,
- 9:20Tata, and all that kind of stuff.
- 9:21Apparently he's designed some iconic models like the defender and and stuff
- 9:24like that, which are kind of cool, like if you like that sort of thing.
- 9:27They're kind of cool, but that Jaguar type, double zero,
- 9:30whatever was just a step away from what anybody actually wanted.
- 9:35The reason I bring up this Jaguar, and you guys are like, well, who cares?
- 9:38We know that thing's ugly.
- 9:39Mm-hmm.
- 9:40Not surprised he's fired.
- 9:42Have you seen the new A four sedan?
- 9:46Oh, so Audi hired him.
- 9:47Right.
- 9:48The front end is very nineties alpha to me.
- 9:52The way the headlights go and the the square should be the,
- 9:56not a square, but that's trash.
- 9:59It looks like a Lego car.
- 10:01It looks like the back end of a wide body IMSA car from the eighties.
- 10:05The Nissan Skyline silhouette with the box flares.
- 10:08Yeah, it looks like the back of that is on the front.
- 10:11I also immediately thought Chrysler 300.
- 10:13Oh yeah, I get that.
- 10:15This is a garbage scowl, but this is the new design language.
- 10:19All the Audis are gonna look like this now.
- 10:21Then they're all gonna look like trash.
- 10:23Yeah.
- 10:23And they're not going to sell and they're gonna change it again to something worse.
- 10:27To something worse.
- 10:28I mean, what is this like Bugatti front end?
- 10:30I mean that's what it reminds me of.
- 10:31I don't even think the grills were this square in the eighties.
- 10:34No, because they were rectangles.
- 10:36Never was there a square grill maybe in the auto union days
- 10:39of like 1932 or whatever.
- 10:41Not even those.
- 10:42Those were like more oval.
- 10:44It's ugly.
- 10:45The square grill's from like a Mack truck.
- 10:47You know Volkswagen owns man trucks, so maybe they're just borrowing
- 10:50from their design department.
- 10:52It kind of does look like a semi, maybe somebody missed a meeting and they got
- 10:56Joe Blow from the blue collar division to come in and it was like, yeah, just
- 10:59throw a square on the front there.
- 11:00How is that aerodynamic?
- 11:02I mean this straight up looks like you photoshopped and just said, let
- 11:05me cut a rectangle out of the front of like a regular A four and then
- 11:09let me just like copy and paste this image and just like put it on.
- 11:13That's what this rendering looks like.
- 11:14To that point, do we know that this is actually what the car's gonna look like?
- 11:18Well, this is a still a concept, right?
- 11:20Yeah.
- 11:20So like all concepts, it could look nothing like this.
- 11:23No.
- 11:23But like everything I see here says new A four rendering by motor one.
- 11:28Like this isn't the concept car actually built by out?
- 11:32Oh, well then this is exactly what I said is some dude in Photoshop
- 11:35just copying and pasting chunks of something else onto a regular A four.
- 11:39Yeah, exactly.
- 11:40This is non-New.
- 11:42This is clickbait.
- 11:43No, but if you go back to the pictures of the concept C, which they linked to, it's
- 11:47the same design language, Tanya's point, they probably grafted the front end of
- 11:51that, onto the current a four body, you know, and kind of fix it up a little bit.
- 11:55But the new car has this look to it with the square grill and everything else.
- 12:00Mm-hmm.
- 12:01It just, it's pretty terrible.
- 12:02So Audi's concept is in there.
- 12:05It's the concept C. Yeah.
- 12:07So motor one took, like I said, a screenshot of this.
- 12:11Change the color in Photoshop and put this on a regular A four and
- 12:15said, Ooh, we should make an A four.
- 12:16Hey, let's write an article about this.
- 12:18It looks like trash though.
- 12:20Let's make this shit up and write article.
- 12:21See, concept C doesn't look good either.
- 12:23No, it actually looks better as this concept C. Yeah, because it's
- 12:27proportions, but it's still garbage.
- 12:29Yeah, it looks better as a coop for one thing.
- 12:31And like to Tanya's point, like the proportions and everything look better.
- 12:34Audi in the concept C did a better job than Jake the intern at MO
- 12:39on when he did the Photoshop.
- 12:41Well, moving right along, we have to introduce a whole bunch of new cars if
- 12:45we're gonna pay for the Audi F1 program.
- 12:48So Volkswagen is lining up a new wave of models for 2026.
- 12:52I feel like your logic is flawed.
- 12:55Uh oh.
- 12:55You don't need to make new cars.
- 12:57You need to sell more cars.
- 13:00I think that's where they're messing up.
- 13:01Oh, is that what it is?
- 13:03Yeah.
- 13:03They can make all the cars they want.
- 13:05If they're not selling 'em, they're not making any money.
- 13:08Just make more cars that people want to actually buy.
- 13:10Top tip.
- 13:12So to your point, scroll through this list of new Volkswagens.
- 13:15There's not a ton of them here.
- 13:16Are any of these appealing to you?
- 13:18None of these are being sold in this country.
- 13:21Yes, but they'll eventually make their way here, won't they?
- 13:23No.
- 13:2425 years.
- 13:25No, nothing.
- 13:25This small is gonna come over here.
- 13:27Yeah, but what about the ID era and the ID cross, which looked like the ID four
- 13:31and whatever the bigger one is than that.
- 13:33Id declare none of these are coming here.
- 13:38That was good.
- 13:39I'm gonna just say it.
- 13:40These have a very like BYD sort of look to them.
- 13:43Is that where we're leaning now in terms of like, we need to copy them
- 13:47because they're leading the market.
- 13:48They have A what?
- 13:49A what?
- 13:50Look to 'em.
- 13:50B-Y-D-B-Y.
- 13:52I don't know what that means.
- 13:53The Chinese EV maker.
- 13:55Oh, okay.
- 13:56Okay.
- 13:56Yeah.
- 13:56I thought you were saying like, bring your own design team.
- 14:00That's what it stands for.
- 14:02I'm sure.
- 14:02No, that was the motor one article.
- 14:04Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:05Bring your own intern.
- 14:06No, I will say we're never gonna get whatever this.
- 14:08Polo thing is that's at the top.
- 14:11I don't even know what this thing's called.
- 14:12Maybe it's the ID three or maybe it's the smaller one.
- 14:14It doesn't really matter.
- 14:15I do like this nineties.
- 14:18What was her name?
- 14:19Lisa Frank.
- 14:20Remember those folders?
- 14:21We had the Trapper Keepers and we had the Lisa Frank stuff.
- 14:23This is the Hot Pink.
- 14:24Enough to be Lisa Frank.
- 14:25Sorry.
- 14:25But it's like a Harley Quinn thing though.
- 14:27Did you notice the colors?
- 14:28It goes back to the mark three Harlequin.
- 14:30I think this is a cool livery.
- 14:32Yeah.
- 14:33We may have to put an earmark on this and look at it more closely and study
- 14:36it for an upcoming project, which we're gonna talk about later in the episode.
- 14:39But I, I really like this livery.
- 14:40It's, it's very chaotic.
- 14:41It's unfocused.
- 14:43We are not gonna put this on pumpkin spice.
- 14:45Definitely not.
- 14:49All.
- 14:50What's next?
- 14:50Well, we have a little bit of
- 14:54Stellan news.
- 14:56All right.
- 14:56I'm just gonna read the title here and get your guys' opinion.
- 14:59This comes from the drive.
- 15:00It says, Jeep is selling a V eight Wrangler for $70,000, but you
- 15:05have to be a veteran or active military to be able to buy it.
- 15:08Stupid.
- 15:10I, I don't get this.
- 15:11I just don't understand why you'd probably sell more if you didn't have
- 15:15to be active military or a veteran.
- 15:17I was gonna say, maybe this is a way just to show a little appreciation
- 15:20for the active military at $70,000.
- 15:24Well, there's a, so one thing, it's $70,000 starting very, very expensive.
- 15:29Like, so an infantry man's not gonna be able to afford that shit.
- 15:32And then two, what this really is, is a publicity stunt.
- 15:35Yes.
- 15:36They're gonna sell more of the other Jeeps because people are gonna
- 15:39come in, oh, you guys are doing something great for the military.
- 15:41You know what I'm gonna, I'm gonna spend my money with you.
- 15:44The Jeep Stir Commando.
- 15:46Well, that's a name for you.
- 15:48This jeepsters going commando.
- 15:50It is.
- 15:51Have you seen these doors?
- 15:52I, I have seen these doors.
- 15:53Yeah.
- 15:54They might as well not even exist.
- 15:55Mm. That's a lot of tubing.
- 15:57It's not roll cagey enough.
- 15:59This commando's got a lot of tubing.
- 16:01Well.
- 16:02I also like how there's seemingly the attachment for the
- 16:06spare tire on the trunk door.
- 16:09Yet the tire's in the trunk, buddy.
- 16:13Hey, it's got a Hemi.
- 16:14It's got a Hemi.
- 16:15And did you realize that it has a Hemi?
- 16:17And what are you doing with this wildly unstable, horribly handling
- 16:23vehicle with V eight in it, you're spending an additional $11,500 and
- 16:28adding a Whipple supercharger to it.
- 16:30Yeah.
- 16:31Yeah.
- 16:31Now you have a Hellcat.
- 16:33I mean, come on now.
- 16:34Yes.
- 16:34Now you've got a Hellcat boosted to 705 horsepower.
- 16:38Just two horsepower, shy of a Hellcat.
- 16:40Look at that.
- 16:41Yep.
- 16:41How many people are gonna take this off road?
- 16:43Gun it and crash it because, well, they kind of have to
- 16:47because there's no malls anymore.
- 16:49So there's nowhere to drive your Jeep.
- 16:51They're gonna make 250 of 'em.
- 16:53And to Tanya's point, I think they're going to wreck 250 of 'em.
- 16:58There's a lot of No for me here, dog, it's no for me.
- 17:02I don't like the white wheels.
- 17:03Other than that, I think it's cool.
- 17:05The thing is a marketing stunt, a publicity stunt, it's not
- 17:08doing anything for anybody.
- 17:09See, and this is where you and I differ.
- 17:11I actually like the wheels.
- 17:12I don't know why, but that's like the most appealing part of this thing.
- 17:15So I wonder if they're gonna do like Tesla did and put a clause
- 17:18in the purchase agreement that you can't turn around and flip it.
- 17:23Ah, that's probably true.
- 17:25Alright, the next one.
- 17:27I have been following this build for years and I am so
- 17:33excited that it's finally done.
- 17:34And when I saw this video, I had to share it with you guys.
- 17:38The Pacific Cat is done, the hell cat powered Pacifica is on the
- 17:44road and it is freaking awesome.
- 17:46This thing is amazing.
- 17:48So that's a minivan I would buy.
- 17:51I sent this to my wife and I was like, so what do you think?
- 17:53And she's like, you're insane.
- 17:55Yeah, she just sighed.
- 17:56And then she's like, no.
- 17:57And I'm like, damn.
- 17:59I will say this, if I could put those wheels at that stance on my wife's
- 18:04Pacifica, just that and the flares.
- 18:06Oh, it look amazing.
- 18:07Like, I like the body lines of the Pacifica.
- 18:09And that's weird to say, 'cause it's a van.
- 18:11It's just a big wagon.
- 18:12It is, but it's kind of sporty, right?
- 18:14Yeah.
- 18:15But it needs to be more sporty.
- 18:16And this is like extreme sports.
- 18:18This is X Games, 700 plus horsepower.
- 18:21Extreme, right?
- 18:24It's like Harold and Kumar going through the seven 11 or the
- 18:28Circle K or whatever it was.
- 18:30Ah, this thing is aw, smoky burnouts in a minivan.
- 18:33I mean, does it get any better than that?
- 18:35Mm.
- 18:36No, that sound of that supercharger.
- 18:38Mm. That's just delicious.
- 18:40Yeah.
- 18:40Yep.
- 18:41Well, since we're speaking of Stellantis, I got an opportunity to
- 18:45rent yet another Stellantis product.
- 18:47So I gotta give you a little renter review here.
- 18:50Why?
- 18:51Guess what?
- 18:51I got to drive when I was down in Florida.
- 18:53Oh, oh, oh.
- 18:55Um, I don't know.
- 18:56Brand new God start, it's like 2016 brand new Grand Wagoner L. The only
- 19:06thing as big as that is the expedition.
- 19:09Max monstrosity.
- 19:11Mm. Third row with a trunk.
- 19:15Big enough for coffins.
- 19:16I mean, this thing is a yacht.
- 19:17It's probably the biggest thing I've driven since the old Autocrossers Inc.
- 19:21Autocross van, if you remember that.
- 19:23You know, 17 passenger church van.
- 19:25Yeah.
- 19:25Back in the day.
- 19:27I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either because it's too big.
- 19:30It was too big in general parking, it was a nuisance.
- 19:32It didn't fit in most parking spots.
- 19:34It was too long.
- 19:36Too wide, whatever.
- 19:37Driving it wasn't really that different than my Jeep.
- 19:42Mm-hmm.
- 19:42A lot of the creature comforts in my Jeep are there, but they're
- 19:45now very much more digital.
- 19:47Everything is like super high gloss and behind the touchscreen.
- 19:50I mean, I have a touchscreen in my Jeep, 11 years old, but it's much simpler.
- 19:54It's more intuitive.
- 19:56The icons are bigger, they're easier to determine.
- 19:58Like I knew where everything sort of needed to be, but it took a minute to
- 20:01orient myself Again, driving, it was like any other Stellantis product.
- 20:05It handled like any other Stellantis product to fit and
- 20:07finish was what I expected.
- 20:09Is it worth $150,000 MSRP?
- 20:12No.
- 20:14Is it as nice as my Jeep inside 10 years ago as a summit edition?
- 20:18Yes.
- 20:19Is it nicer than the current Jeeps?
- 20:22Yes, but I'm gonna go back to, is it worth $150,000?
- 20:27No, I feel like it's probably worth 80.
- 20:29Yes.
- 20:30And the regular Wagoner is probably worth 45 or 50, and the Grand
- 20:37Cherokee should be in the 30 range.
- 20:39The Cherokee should be in the 20 range, and yeah.
- 20:41So on and so forth, down.
- 20:42That's not how car pricing works, unfortunately.
- 20:45Yeah.
- 20:45But that's where I think these vehicles should be.
- 20:48No, I, I agree with you.
- 20:49A thousand percent.
- 20:50And it wasn't just a, you know, a round kissimmee type of thing
- 20:54with the wagoner, you know, dealing with stop and go traffic.
- 20:56We drove it long distances.
- 20:58Uh, and I'll talk about this a little bit more as we go along.
- 21:00We started our trip in Fort Myers and Fort Myers to Orlandos three hours plus.
- 21:05Yeah.
- 21:05Despite it being big and bulky and cumbersome, it was super comfy.
- 21:09It was a nice place to be, especially with four people and
- 21:12luggage and everything else.
- 21:13You really were not pining for space in any way.
- 21:16It was, again, it was super comfortable.
- 21:18And then after three hours in the truck, you got out and it's like, huh.
- 21:22It wasn't, it wasn't even hateful.
- 21:23The seats are super comfortable.
- 21:25I will say the only thing that was really obnoxious was.
- 21:29A feature that I don't have in any of my cars, which is the
- 21:32lane guidance assistance thing.
- 21:34And so the Wagoner is so big, it takes a while to sort of orient where the
- 21:39corners of it are, where the edges of it are, and it is wider than my Jeep,
- 21:43even though my Jeep's kind of a big old hippopotamus going down the road.
- 21:46I found myself maybe skirting the edge of the lane a little bit where the
- 21:50white line was not like going off on the shoulder and it would try to correct.
- 21:53And what it would do is it would bump the truck over, but because it was
- 21:56so big, it would bump over to the other line and it would bump it back.
- 22:00So it was playing this like ping pong back and forth in the lane and
- 22:03the guys are like, are you okay?
- 22:04And I'm like, watch, it's doing it itself.
- 22:06And I would let go and it, you would just move it back and forth a couple of inches.
- 22:11This is so annoying.
- 22:13And I couldn't figure out how to turn it off.
- 22:15And it was one of those features that I don't think you could permanently
- 22:17disable it, or I had to dig 12 menu layers deep to figure that out.
- 22:22I'm like, it's a rental, I'm just gonna give it back after a couple days.
- 22:24I don't wanna sit here and you know, that be the cause of somebody else's
- 22:28problem, so I'll just live with it.
- 22:29But you were always on the knife edge when you were driving it.
- 22:32It was pretty pronounced how it would bump the truck over.
- 22:36When it thought you were going over the lane and it has these big flag mirrors
- 22:40too, so they're already sticking out past the body and it doesn't take much for
- 22:44those sensors to suddenly pick up the line when the mirror is sticking out 18 inches.
- 22:49Like most stellantis truck owners have their mirrors extended for no reason.
- 22:52This is sort of the same thing from the factory and it, it just blew my mind.
- 22:56It was one of the most obnoxious things that I've ever encountered in a new car.
- 23:00You know, for that kind of money I would just save half of
- 23:03it and get a Yukon XL Denali.
- 23:05Haven't they been having engine problems with those though?
- 23:08There's recalls in those GMV eights and stuff.
- 23:10Yeah, but they've, they've got it all sorted out now and basically if you're
- 23:13within thresholds, they'll just put a different viscosity oil in it or they'll
- 23:17fix it and give you an extended warranty.
- 23:19'cause they have all the parts and stuff now.
- 23:21So.
- 23:21Nice.
- 23:22What was it an issue where there was a shortage on parts and parts
- 23:26availability and they couldn't get the trucks fixed and everything.
- 23:28That's all workeded itself out now.
- 23:30Let's switch gears and talk about Asian cars.
- 23:33What about Mercedes and BMW?
- 23:35We did that last year.
- 23:36We're done.
- 23:36Remember?
- 23:37Oh, we don't ever have to do it again.
- 23:38No, never again.
- 23:39Like in another five years they'll have changed the grills again or something.
- 23:43Praise Lord, baby Jesus.
- 23:47So let's talk about Asian cars.
- 23:49I don't know what changed in the Department of Transportation.
- 23:54If it's our current administration, whatever, it doesn't matter.
- 23:58But suddenly K cars are coming to America.
- 24:02Well, they're super cute.
- 24:03They're accessories like chihuahuas and handbags, they are.
- 24:08I mean, you could fit these K cars in your purse, but you
- 24:10know who buys K cars in the us?
- 24:12Nerdy white guys.
- 24:15Tell me I'm wrong.
- 24:16You have to be of a certain build to fit in these too.
- 24:19I mean, at your height, Brad, you put on a K car as a shoe, so I'd buy two of them.
- 24:23Yeah, pretty much.
- 24:24Right now, I do think this Honda, the Modelo X or whatever, is super cool.
- 24:29I've seen some videos of these in Japan.
- 24:32They're mid engine.
- 24:33You could put the roof in the FR and the FR is tiny, like it holds like,
- 24:37you know, three wrenches kind of thing.
- 24:38I mean the cars are super compact.
- 24:40Oddly enough, it's like MR two meets S 2000.
- 24:45It has that kind of vibe going.
- 24:47I like it.
- 24:48I'd love to drive one just to see, and I think it wouldd be super cool
- 24:51if they start making left hand drive ones and bring them over to the States.
- 24:54Yes, there is a subculture in the American automotive landscape
- 24:59that will buy this for sure.
- 25:01But the, the bigger question is if we're allowing new K cars to come
- 25:04in, what does it mean for old K cars?
- 25:07No, because I think it's the st the same overarching rules still apply.
- 25:12There's been folks that have been importing 'em for years.
- 25:15There's actually a huge shop in like Virginia that brings in K
- 25:18cars that are over 25 years old.
- 25:20You know, the typical gray market stuff.
- 25:21But does this mean we can start bringing over any K cars?
- 25:25And even here there's an update from Department of Transportation that says
- 25:28manufacturers must certify that they meet US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards.
- 25:32So if we're going to import a K car, unless we change those standards to
- 25:36allow those, the k cars that they create must meet those standards.
- 25:41So the old ones that were created before don't.
- 25:44So they have to wait.
- 25:45The 25 year rule is my understanding of it.
- 25:48Tanya, would you buy a K car?
- 25:50No.
- 25:51No, she bought a K car.
- 25:54I thought you'd be like one of the first people in line for something like this.
- 25:57You don't, you don't like K cars?
- 26:00Uh, you just haven't found the right one yet.
- 26:02I know which K car I want.
- 26:04Oh, which one is it?
- 26:05It's called the Fiat Panda.
- 26:06Alright, that's fair.
- 26:07I'll give you that.
- 26:08Not the Al Alpha Romeo Wagon, whatever.
- 26:11Cross Cabo something.
- 26:13Something something, something, something.
- 26:14Yeah.
- 26:14Whatever that stick with that thing was the longest name ever.
- 26:17Yeah.
- 26:17Good job there, my man.
- 26:18Yes.
- 26:19In other Asian car news, this is the sickest station wagon
- 26:24I've seen in a long time.
- 26:25Tell me I'm wrong.
- 26:25The S magma, the Hyundai Magma series.
- 26:29Look at this thing.
- 26:30The Genesis, smegma wingback, the G 90.
- 26:34Look at that color.
- 26:34Look at those wheels, look at those flares.
- 26:36I mean, this is Audi RS six avant territory that Genesis
- 26:41slash Hyundai is going in.
- 26:43Am I wrong?
- 26:43Well, no, that's what they always do.
- 26:45That looks sick.
- 26:47Remember the stinger?
- 26:48Yeah.
- 26:49Stinger's basically an A seven or it looks like an A seven, which should
- 26:52have come in a stick shift, but we'll just leave that where it is.
- 26:54Yeah, I would buy one of these.
- 26:57Yeah.
- 26:58Stop me.
- 26:58Stop me.
- 26:59'cause the price is like $200,000, I'm sure.
- 27:02But Tanya, you have a very discerning eye when it comes to this sort of thing.
- 27:06What do you think of the G 90 magma?
- 27:09Wingback got a very asked and rear end.
- 27:12Yes.
- 27:13The double spoiler is.
- 27:15Interesting.
- 27:16Yes.
- 27:16All of this is good.
- 27:18The weird shark fin thing on the roof.
- 27:21On the edges?
- 27:21Yeah.
- 27:22Unsettling from the side angle.
- 27:24It's for aerodynamics.
- 27:25It looks cool from the front.
- 27:26You know, I think it's, if they got rid of those weird twin shark fins
- 27:31or whatever you wanna call those ribs, the line would be much better.
- 27:35That's for the roof rack though.
- 27:36That's why those are there.
- 27:38So you, you don't have a wagon.
- 27:39You don't understand roof rails.
- 27:40I get it.
- 27:41Excuse me.
- 27:42How many wagons have there been made that have roof rails
- 27:45that look better than this?
- 27:46We did not need to reinvent roof rails.
- 27:49They just integrated the roof rails into the body as opposed
- 27:52to slapping everyone separately.
- 27:54Basically these are aerodynamic roof rails.
- 27:56They also provide lateral down force.
- 27:59Okay.
- 27:59It was tested in a wind tunnel.
- 28:01Okay.
- 28:01In some country that you can't pronounce.
- 28:03Okay.
- 28:04And the Formula one team that's involved, or the LAMA team
- 28:07that's involved said it was good.
- 28:09Okay.
- 28:09Is good.
- 28:11That's a beautiful color.
- 28:12I'll give him that.
- 28:13This is the hotness fire right here, despite the name.
- 28:17Well, Hyundai's gotta do something to get us excited.
- 28:19Right.
- 28:20I'm really, I'm really interested to see what happens with their WEC
- 28:23entry in the next couple years.
- 28:25Here's the K car we should all have.
- 28:27I was just about to say that.
- 28:28Tanya stole my thunder.
- 28:29Yes.
- 28:30This is the K car that we all deserve because Honda's just
- 28:33click baiting us with this teaser.
- 28:36They are re-releasing or they're releasing a new fit only for the Chinese market.
- 28:42So we're not gonna see, not gonna see another Honda fit here, but
- 28:45they did this, I don't know, rendering of it in in race trim.
- 28:50Yes, please.
- 28:51Can we have another Honda Fit Race series?
- 28:53Seriously, that'd be super fun to see these B spec cars, is it just me or does
- 28:58it look like a little hamster, like it's going to like nod a carrot or something?
- 29:01It does, yes.
- 29:03It's got these like buck teeth.
- 29:04It does absolutely better front end than that Audi.
- 29:07Yeah, you're very right about that.
- 29:09And I didn't plan this, but I mentioned the m mr two earlier.
- 29:12But what is this that you brought us here?
- 29:14Well, they haven't said what it's going to be.
- 29:16And of course they show pictures of an m mr two because that's their
- 29:20previous mid-engine sports car.
- 29:23But allegedly Toyota is confirming they will be bringing another midg
- 29:28engine sports car, you know, might be a few years out, but it's coming.
- 29:32And then they show a picture of the one they built out of
- 29:36like the Yaris or whatever.
- 29:38Right.
- 29:39And it's like are we gonna get a Yaris with a Midg engine or are
- 29:42we gonna actually get something like a breezy with a mid engine?
- 29:47Ooh.
- 29:47But not the breezy but the The GR Toyota version of the Cleo Sport.
- 29:52That's exactly what I was thinking.
- 29:54Completely useless for everyday driving.
- 29:56Who cares?
- 29:57That's awesome.
- 29:59I think we should go back to the second generation, MR two.
- 30:02I mean I like the RS, the Mr. Spider.
- 30:05I drove those.
- 30:06The poor man's lease.
- 30:07I mean the lease and the mr. The MRS are basically the same
- 30:09thing at the end of the day.
- 30:10Similar power plant, all that borrowed from the the sica, but the body lines
- 30:15of the second gen, MR two, if they were modernized and brought into today,
- 30:20like you, we've seen some of the body kits for the GR 86 that make it look
- 30:24like the 80 86 of the popup headlights.
- 30:26I think that stuff is all ultra fantastic and those are the directions
- 30:29that Toyota should be going in.
- 30:31I think they could reintroduce the second generation MR two today.
- 30:35It's the perfect size.
- 30:37Just do it right for 2026 and you've got a boxer killer on top of it all.
- 30:41If they want to go toe to toe with Porsche, Tanya, you always
- 30:44bring us the latest and greatest.
- 30:46What have you got for us?
- 30:47Well, we have the, uh, recent article from Car and Driver about future
- 30:52electric vehicles that you'll soon be able to buy, but these aren't
- 30:56necessarily around the corner for sale.
- 30:58They could be concept to actually being in production and oh, lo and
- 31:02behold, look, there's that concept C Audi in the picture, ma Ma.
- 31:07But there is that Lancia looking rivian thing again that we talked
- 31:11about a bunch of months ago that is still super cool looking.
- 31:15This whole article is kind of contradictory to what we were
- 31:18talking about at the beginning about how manufacturers are
- 31:21scaling back on the whole EV thing.
- 31:23Well scaling back.
- 31:25So it means they still have to make some.
- 31:26Yeah.
- 31:27And you got in here, aside from Okay.
- 31:30Some of the, the usual players.
- 31:32You got Acura coming out with an RSX.
- 31:34An RSX.
- 31:35We're BRA engineering, the RSX name.
- 31:38'cause this thing looks like an SUV.
- 31:40This thing looks like a Euros.
- 31:41It's huge.
- 31:42It's terrible.
- 31:43Like this should be the MDX and it's an ev, but apparently this is expected
- 31:47in the second half of this year.
- 31:49Oh.
- 31:49So who knows?
- 31:50Awful.
- 31:51You got Sony apparently gonna come out with that Aila.
- 31:54What?
- 31:55Which I first saw like several years ago at the Consumer Electronics Show.
- 31:59Apparently that's actually becoming real.
- 32:01We haven't been following Sony and what they were doing.
- 32:03They're alleging that there's one expected late this year.
- 32:06Wow.
- 32:07You've got Alpha Romeo with a GI BI am really interested in that actually.
- 32:12If you kept the body the way the Julia's always looked, that's a handsome ev.
- 32:17It would be the best looking ev on the road.
- 32:19Hands down.
- 32:20Yes.
- 32:20Unlike its cousin, the Stelvio God, which is interesting.
- 32:23I thought the Stelvio was pretty much dead, a gunner.
- 32:27So the fact that they'd wanna try and make an EV out of that seems interesting.
- 32:31You got Alpine entering the foray.
- 32:34Those are hot.
- 32:35And here look at this Audi, TTEV.
- 32:38So that concept C. Tt, I think I threw up a little bit artistic license in
- 32:43writing this to say this is a tt.
- 32:45I don't think in any way has Audi, you know, said that they're
- 32:49gonna be coming out with a tt.
- 32:50But nonetheless, this is the concept.
- 32:51Oh, well.
- 32:52So, so that's funny you say that.
- 32:53You know how the other, the A four was photoshopped?
- 32:55Yes.
- 32:55Look at the roof line on this one and tell me they didn't Photoshop.
- 32:59Oh yes.
- 32:59This front end on a T. Oh yes.
- 33:00That's a tt Gen one TT roof line.
- 33:03Yeah, it is.
- 33:04As a TT owner, I can vouch for this.
- 33:06Yes, that is what they did.
- 33:07That is terrible.
- 33:08Whatever's going on with that Audi, that's ridiculous.
- 33:11And then of course you've got Bentleys and BMWs.
- 33:13Of course, they're staying with their I Series.
- 33:15But look at that grill on that.
- 33:17Im three.
- 33:18Oh my God.
- 33:18That is horrible.
- 33:20Yes.
- 33:20The, uh, that car looks like a mark eight or mark nine Lancer is what that is.
- 33:26Bad three.
- 33:27Looks like it is.
- 33:28It's bad.
- 33:28It's terrible.
- 33:29Oh, it looks like that Infinity.
- 33:30The Infiniti I 30.
- 33:31Yes, yes, yes.
- 33:32From the nineties.
- 33:33Yes.
- 33:34You know what I will give them credit for though?
- 33:36If those wheels are for real?
- 33:38They look really, really cool.
- 33:39I think those are neat.
- 33:40You are on an island, my friends.
- 33:42Didn't something have something like that similar or no?
- 33:45I don't know, but they look super slick.
- 33:46Like the way wheels are being made these days is just amazing what they think.
- 33:50What do we think of the catter?
- 33:52The the what?
- 33:53Once you get past the BMWs.
- 33:55What's that?
- 33:56Hater em, sorry, I think I pronounced it incorrectly.
- 33:59Is that an vora?
- 34:00I don't know.
- 34:01That's what it looks like.
- 34:02Kind of.
- 34:02It is stunning.
- 34:04That's a good looking car.
- 34:05Yes.
- 34:06And here's a surprise, the bolt's coming back.
- 34:09Oh.
- 34:09Boo God, it looks even more like a shopping cart than it did before.
- 34:14I actually like the Bolt.
- 34:17I went out the other night and did an Uber and the person that picked me up
- 34:22had a Chevy Bolt and I was impressed with the Chevy Bolt, this Ferrari ev.
- 34:28We got Ferrari being Ferrari really, because that SUV was so successful.
- 34:32Now we gotta be an ev, let things lie anyway.
- 34:36Yeah.
- 34:36How about here you go, magma.
- 34:39Oh God.
- 34:40I instantly love it.
- 34:43So can we talk about the Hoffmeister kink?
- 34:46Do you guys know what that is?
- 34:47I recently learned about it.
- 34:48What?
- 34:49The Hoffmeister kink.
- 34:50Uh, okay.
- 34:52What happens if I google Hoffmeister kink?
- 34:54Do I hit enter right now?
- 34:56You don't Google that.
- 34:57I, I believe it takes you to the wrong kind of website.
- 35:00You never Google anything with the word kink in it?
- 35:02No, I haven't hit enter, so I'm, I'm, but, but you can look it up.
- 35:05But maybe put automotive hoffmeister kink that could give
- 35:09you some other search results.
- 35:11Oh, no.
- 35:11Okay.
- 35:12It came up the very first.
- 35:13Okay.
- 35:14Alright.
- 35:14So I learned from John Summers the motoring historian.
- 35:17Mm. Okay.
- 35:19This goes back to 1960s Ferrari.
- 35:21There's the Super Americas cars are very swoopy, you know, very beautiful lines.
- 35:27And then the glass has this like cut in it.
- 35:29It's very sharp, it's very angular on a car that's very curvy, like the Super
- 35:32America and the Luso and all those.
- 35:35This thing, the Hoffmeister kink, it's like a signature of those
- 35:38Ferraris apparently that carried forward into the modern cars.
- 35:43It's to break up those swoopy lines and give you something to
- 35:47like focus on for whatever reason.
- 35:49So all modern cars apparently now have this hoffmeister
- 35:53kink, which I don't understand.
- 35:55I'd rather see a smooth line.
- 35:57It was developed by a German dude for BMW.
- 36:00Well, there you go.
- 36:01It was on those Ferraris way back when.
- 36:03It's like, I don't like it, but it's clear and present on every new design.
- 36:07The mark one Volkswagen has a kink where apparently that is considered
- 36:12a kink in the back window of the GTI.
- 36:15Yep.
- 36:15But it works for that car.
- 36:17Do you mean liking the mark one Volkswagen as a kink?
- 36:19It might be these days.
- 36:22The E 36 has a kink.
- 36:24Yeah, it does.
- 36:28Scratch that.
- 36:29Reverse it.
- 36:30Willy Wonka style.
- 36:31Okay.
- 36:31What made you think of this?
- 36:32'cause the magma doesn't have a kink.
- 36:34It's that swoopy thing in the back that, no, it's not.
- 36:37The kink comes down.
- 36:38It goes back the opposite direction.
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:41But there's a lot of new cars that still have, so this magma doesn't have that.
- 36:44This magma goes just to a tip to the back.
- 36:46It actually looked bad.
- 36:47It probably looked better if it was a kink, 'cause it would
- 36:49have curved back the other way.
- 36:50But yeah, that's what reminded me.
- 36:52'cause it's so pronounced.
- 36:53It's like a penant.
- 36:54It kind of reminds me of, remember the first gen focuses had the
- 36:57penant window on the back.
- 36:59It was like a triangular window on a hatchback.
- 37:01It never made any sense to me design-wise.
- 37:03It was like, why didn't you square it up?
- 37:05I guess they didn't want to make it look like a golfer, a Reno,
- 37:07Cleo, or anything like that.
- 37:09This catering has a kink that is an example of the.
- 37:12The glass turned back to meet the bottom.
- 37:15And look how that looks.
- 37:16Nice.
- 37:17It looks nicer than if they made it a point.
- 37:19But if you look at the Chevy Bolt, doesn't that also have the kink?
- 37:23Yes.
- 37:23It's very, very subtle and it's awful.
- 37:26It looks terrible.
- 37:27Well, this, there's other issues.
- 37:33But anyway.
- 37:33The one car you were calling the Lancia, apparently it's a Honda.
- 37:38What?
- 37:38I thought that was a rivian.
- 37:39You were calling it Rivian?
- 37:41Yeah.
- 37:41A weird wedge.
- 37:42No, I think that one looks like a Lamborghini from the A Lamborghini.
- 37:46Yeah.
- 37:46That's a Honda.
- 37:47No, the fir.
- 37:48Yeah.
- 37:48That pickup truck looked like a rivian.
- 37:50These are all getting terrible.
- 37:51Ooh, the Kevin is back.
- 37:53E like Kev.
- 37:54Like Kev, yeah.
- 37:56Remember the commercial Kevin Bacon?
- 37:57Eev like Kev.
- 37:58He's got his daughter in the car and he's like embarrassing her.
- 38:00It's like a Super Bowl commercial.
- 38:02No.
- 38:02Oh yeah.
- 38:03This is the SOB 900 Turbo s. That's what this is.
- 38:06I mean the, you, you guys, it goes on and on and, and Lucid and Lotus
- 38:11and Lexus and Mazda, Mercedes.
- 38:15We didn't talk about them.
- 38:16We are not allowed to talk about them.
- 38:18System we're not.
- 38:18So we'll skip over the various Mercedes and they have a
- 38:21lot a Mitsubishi Lancer ev.
- 38:25They're gonna desecrate the name Lancer with a bizarre looking smushed.
- 38:29SUV.
- 38:30There's an ev and of course you have, you know, Polestar and whatever have you.
- 38:34The Porsche Cayman and Cayenne EVs, rolls Royce.
- 38:38And then, yes, the Rivian R two, which I thought was already out,
- 38:41but I guess it's coming out.
- 38:43Now I want the R three and the R three.
- 38:45The R three is so good.
- 38:49It is a fi panda.
- 38:51Ah.
- 38:51They didn't kink it though.
- 38:53They didn't kink That glass doesn't need the kink.
- 38:56Look at the glass.
- 38:56It looks perfect.
- 38:57Without the kink.
- 38:58The line of this car does not need the kink.
- 39:01Kink is in the back.
- 39:02Brad is just, he's, he's not buying it.
- 39:06I'm still trying to understand what the kink is.
- 39:09I was too scared to Google it.
- 39:10Look at the scout and it'll make sense to you.
- 39:12No, you can Google it.
- 39:13Hoffmeister kink, the very first thing that'll come up is the appropriate thing.
- 39:16Okay, now I, now, now I got it.
- 39:18Okay.
- 39:18For some reason I was thinking the rear glass, like the back glass.
- 39:21Oh no, no, no.
- 39:22The side back glass.
- 39:23Do they actually explain why this does this?
- 39:26I think it's just a design.
- 39:28A design thing, because if not, it'd be awkward.
- 39:30You either have to round it like they did on that R three.
- 39:33You're coming to a point which is just awkward and probably very
- 39:36difficult to manufacture the glass.
- 39:38Right.
- 39:38And also probably structurally having that kink, flattening it out
- 39:44there probably does something to the structural rigid or integrity of the
- 39:49the side panel and the glass itself.
- 39:51I can see that I totally want an R three.
- 39:54Right.
- 39:55They're awesome.
- 39:55Yeah, right.
- 39:56I could see getting one of these in a couple years once
- 39:59the boys are outta daycare.
- 40:00That's my goal.
- 40:01That'd be fun.
- 40:02And if it is truly starting under 40,000, I don't believe that for a second.
- 40:0837 to 47, I'm sorry.
- 40:11No, but one of the more interesting things on this list in terms of seeing
- 40:15how this actually plays out is the slate.
- 40:17Yeah.
- 40:18The Bezos truck.
- 40:20Oh my God.
- 40:21To see how this actually turns out it, I think that'll be interesting to keep
- 40:25our eyes on this year and into next year.
- 40:28So obviously the list goes on and on and on and on, and
- 40:31Toyota and Volvo and et cetera.
- 40:33So apparently, even though everybody's rolling back their EVs, they're keeping
- 40:37some in the lineups until they aren't.
- 40:40These aren't all confirmed, so, but you know what else isn't confirmed?
- 40:44Things that are lost.
- 40:45So let's switch to Brad's favorite part of the drive through.
- 40:48Lost and frowned.
- 40:49I don't believe you scoured the internet or called Chuck La Duck or
- 40:52Gray Chevrolet over the winter break.
- 40:55No, but I found something for you guys.
- 40:57I'd mentioned this.
- 40:58Probably before I mentioned the other rado that was modified, that they
- 41:02had turned it into a station wagon.
- 41:04They used the Audi 90 rear lights.
- 41:05I dunno if you guys remember that one eventually, that sort of became
- 41:07the polo station wagon way back when.
- 41:10But have you guys heard about the like one-off Rado Cabrio Le Nope.
- 41:15Horrible name for the video.
- 41:17Yeah, it's, it's pretty terrible.
- 41:18Who would've thought it would've worked as a Cabrio?
- 41:21It looks really good, man, seeing this car.
- 41:24Not as the Cabrio though.
- 41:25I'm like, shit, every time I see a Rado I'm like, I want
- 41:29a carrado in my life again.
- 41:30And then.
- 41:31I think if I get a carra in my life again, I will regret every minute of it.
- 41:36You know, like, ugh.
- 41:37So I'm confused.
- 41:39Okay.
- 41:39So Volkswagen actually made this car.
- 41:41Volkswagen commissioned a design house to create a Cabrio Le of the Carrado as
- 41:47a concept, and I think they built like two of them or something like that.
- 41:49But this guy, private guy owns one of them, and so he does this little tour,
- 41:54drives around and shows everybody.
- 41:55It's one of those forgotten things, sort of like the Rado station
- 41:58wagon that I was just mentioning.
- 42:00Every time you see it, you're kinda like, yeah, I like that.
- 42:02They should have done that.
- 42:03Like what were they thinking?
- 42:05They should have sold more rados.
- 42:07They should have sold them for longer.
- 42:09They should have evolved it yet again and continued the Rocco line because there was
- 42:13a period of nothing between the Rado and the next generation Mark, six based Rocco.
- 42:18There was not a whole lot going on there, so I think they could have
- 42:21stretched out that lineage a little bit.
- 42:23Now granted, there's some fallbacks there because the longer you keep the
- 42:27rado going, while at that point the Mark fours would've been out, let's just say
- 42:31the Rado was using a Mark two chassis, so we're talking eighties technology
- 42:36with a nineties body, and now you're building it into the two thousands.
- 42:39That would've been pretty crazy.
- 42:41I can understand why they had to kill it off.
- 42:42It just doesn't make sense to continue to keep the tool and die around for a
- 42:47platform that doesn't exist anymore.
- 42:49But I think they could have evolved a rado and kept it going.
- 42:51But stuff like this, I mean, just imagine instead of that weird.
- 42:55Mark three and a half Cabrio le that we got, that's like a mark three
- 42:59in the back and a mark four in the front, and you know, nothing's cross
- 43:02compatible between the generations.
- 43:03That's what we ended up with instead of this, which would've been super cool.
- 43:08Again, if they had made one, I would've really considered collecting one.
- 43:12You know, have a Coupa and a convertible.
- 43:13I think that'd be super cool.
- 43:14Tanya, any car commercials you'd like us to review for Lost and Found this month?
- 43:18Do not have one this time.
- 43:20Next time.
- 43:21By the next time we'll actually have Super Bowl commercials to review.
- 43:25Oh yeah, that's right.
- 43:26Exactly.
- 43:27We'll have a whole slew of car commercial and they'll probably
- 43:30be wildly disappointing.
- 43:31Tanya's holding out for the good stuff.
- 43:33Exactly, so it's a new year.
- 43:36Do we have a new New Year's resolution or are we gonna stick with last year?
- 43:40Are we allowed to talk about Tesla in 2026?
- 43:43That was our resolution last year.
- 43:46Yeah.
- 43:47I think we'll make some exceptions.
- 43:49Oh, okay.
- 43:50Only when it's comical and it paints Tesla in a bad light.
- 43:54Only when it's talking about the cyber truck and how the sales have
- 43:58plummeted like a rock off Mount Everest.
- 44:04Nobody wants these.
- 44:07It's my fault.
- 44:08Had I bought mine, they would've been negative 14,999 instead of 15,000.
- 44:15And here's the the hilarious thing.
- 44:17Cyber Truck was America's bestselling electric pickup in 2024.
- 44:21Wasn't it like the only I, it it was between that and the F1 Lightning.
- 44:26I don't think there were any other pickups.
- 44:28No.
- 44:28But the F1 lightning barely didn't even, I, I don't even remember when it came out.
- 44:33Yeah, maybe they came out pretty close, I guess.
- 44:34Nonetheless, they sold 39,000 cyber trucks during the first full year.
- 44:39On the market in 2024.
- 44:41Mm-hmm.
- 44:41And then the sales got cut in half.
- 44:44They estimate that only 20,200 were sold in 2025.
- 44:50Wow.
- 44:50Even though Muskie would have said they were gonna sell, like, I don't know,
- 44:54over a hundred thousand or 200,000 or some BS that he had floated at one
- 44:58point of all, all they were gonna sell.
- 45:00And now apparently, I think they're saying they're just
- 45:03like sitting in lots right now.
- 45:06I just realized that the entire design of the cyber truck is a hofmeister kink.
- 45:14There's a kink.
- 45:15There's a kink.
- 45:15No, there's is no kink.
- 45:17No, this is great.
- 45:19The back bumper is a kink.
- 45:20If you look at the side view of it when you scroll down.
- 45:24Oh, the one that's covered in vomit.
- 45:25Well, where you see all the dirty hand smudges all down the side of it.
- 45:28Yeah.
- 45:28Yes.
- 45:29The, the perfect profile of the side.
- 45:31This is what happens when you don't do a kink.
- 45:33They didn't do a kink on that back glass.
- 45:35It's straight down.
- 45:36And then they didn't kink anything on that front glass.
- 45:39It comes to a point, look how dumb that looks.
- 45:42Yeah.
- 45:42There's nothing kinky about the cyber truck.
- 45:48It is Kless.
- 45:50I see more of these on the road, and the wraps are crazy and they
- 45:54look terrible in every color.
- 45:55Whether it's red, orange, yellow, blue, black.
- 45:58You have to wrap 'em because they look like vomit.
- 46:01If not, okay, so if you go further down, there is a graph showing the
- 46:07pickup trucks that were sold in 2024 and 2025, the electric pickup
- 46:13trucks, Uhhuh, the cyber truck, the lightning, the Rivian R one, they're
- 46:17considering the Hummer, a pickup truck.
- 46:20Oh, okay.
- 46:21I don't really think it is.
- 46:23The Silverado ev, which I've seen a few of those around here.
- 46:25I actually kinda like 'em.
- 46:26And then the Sierra Ev, which is just the same thing as the Silverado ev.
- 46:30You know, you reminded me of something Brad, and maybe we'll
- 46:32have to have him on the show to talk about life with Hummer Ev.
- 46:37If you remember Big Drew who has been off-roading Jeeps and he
- 46:41had his G wagon and all that.
- 46:43He got rid of all that stuff.
- 46:44He now has a Hummer Ev.
- 46:46And he said when we had talked to him last time about off-roading for him that would
- 46:49be like the pinnacle offroad vehicle.
- 46:51Like that's the one he want.
- 46:52He finally got one.
- 46:53And I'm wondering, A, if he took it off-road and B, what it's like
- 46:57to be an owner of a Hummer ev.
- 46:58So maybe we'll have him back to talk about that.
- 47:00I can't imagine.
- 47:01It's very good off-road being 200,000 pounds.
- 47:03So the question I would have sometimes being discerning of graphs and data.
- 47:08The cyber truck came out in 2023 uhhuh, so yes, it technically
- 47:12had a full 2024 sales year.
- 47:15The F-150 didn't come out till April.
- 47:17The Silverado didn't come out till like June.
- 47:19Or mid-year sometime the cyber truck had a headstart on these
- 47:23guys and it barely eked out.
- 47:25Actually, the F-150, I had never seen this data before.
- 47:29I'd never paid attention to how many F1 fifties were sold.
- 47:32Who cares?
- 47:33So I wonder if the F-150 had come out.
- 47:35Earlier in 2023 alongside the cyber truck.
- 47:39This might be a different graph because in 2025 it outpaced the cyber truck.
- 47:43And to that point, like its drop off might've been proportional though,
- 47:47because all the early adopters were going, all the people that were going
- 47:50to buy them would buy them first, and then the casual customers would kind
- 47:56of stroll in and you know, pick one up.
- 47:59All the diehards would've bought them at first, so the sales would've come
- 48:02down because it's the early adopters and everybody that are buying 'em
- 48:06and not the people that necessarily are just looking for a vehicle.
- 48:08But then there's also the, all the problems with it.
- 48:12Well, bricking, you can't get it wet.
- 48:14It rusts because yes, I have a vehicle that I cannot get wet.
- 48:18The panels blow off and fall off and the accelerator pedal breaks
- 48:23underneath you and the, and the console disintegrates quality.
- 48:28I wonder how much of that also contributed to a downward decline in sales.
- 48:33Yeah.
- 48:34Nah.
- 48:35Yeah.
- 48:35How much of whistling diesel contributed to the decline in sales?
- 48:39Nah.
- 48:40Moving on to the segment.
- 48:41That has changed more times than Brad has changed his socks over the years we're at.
- 48:46Seriously, what could go wrong formerly?
- 48:49Lowered expectations.
- 48:51Lowered expectations.
- 48:57This one takes the cake.
- 48:58Tanya, you spent a week with a rental Ultima.
- 49:00I'm just gonna throw it out there.
- 49:02You did what?
- 49:02Now I'm gonna say it again.
- 49:03She spent a week with an Altima.
- 49:07Well, actually I was gonna bring this up.
- 49:08I had the rare opportunity to actually sample some of JD M's.
- 49:15Finest over a short period of time for a variety of reasons.
- 49:19So not only did I have a rental Ultima, but I also had a rental Elantra.
- 49:25And I had a rental Kia.
- 49:26A rental Kia what?
- 49:28Kia?
- 49:28Soul.
- 49:29Kia Soul.
- 49:29Okay.
- 49:29No Kia Rio from like 1995.
- 49:35Did the buy one get one free?
- 49:36Yeah.
- 49:37Yeah.
- 49:37So Hyundai, Kia, and Nissan, for all intents and purposes, who came out on top?
- 49:43Who came out on bottom?
- 49:44The Kia Really not surprised.
- 49:47The, the Kia Souls in a condo car.
- 49:49The Elantra and Ultima are mid-size family sedans.
- 49:53Yes.
- 49:53And the Kia.
- 49:55Felt its economy.
- 49:56Yeah.
- 49:57Literally in its fuel economy as well as its quality of interior and, and the feel
- 50:05and the sad motor that it tried its best.
- 50:08How were those cardboard seats?
- 50:11The surprise in this?
- 50:13Actually was the Elantra.
- 50:15Oh really?
- 50:17The Elantra would give you in the forties, miles per gallon all day long.
- 50:23I was shocked.
- 50:24And it's got a nice little gauge and it's telling you as modern
- 50:27cars do, like where you're falling in the band and all that stuff.
- 50:30And it was like, I drove around and around and some cruising,
- 50:34like long distance on the highway.
- 50:36I thought for the longest time after driving like two hours and stuff, that
- 50:41the gas needle was broken and the gas gauge didn't work because it did not move.
- 50:46Mm. And and I'm watching the thing and it's going, you're
- 50:48doing 45 miles at a gallon.
- 50:50I'm like, bullshit.
- 50:51I am.
- 50:51This is a big ass car.
- 50:53I went around and around in a two hour drive and a two hour drive back
- 50:57and then here and there in city and highway practically returned to full.
- 51:01It was ridiculous.
- 51:02I mean, great.
- 51:03I'll also say the interior wasn't terrible.
- 51:07It was fine.
- 51:08It wasn't the most luxurious.
- 51:10Having also recently been in some other Japanese cars, there are
- 51:14more luxurious interiors in that same kind of range of car that you
- 51:19could get in a similar price range.
- 51:21Probably Also, see, the other thing about the Kia, which might have swayed
- 51:25me, not really, there was a smoker in that car and that car fucking wreaked.
- 51:32Wreaked.
- 51:33And I should have returned it immediately on the spot, but I did not.
- 51:36Eventually I got used to the smell, which was pretty bad.
- 51:38But anyway, the Altima, so get to the Altima.
- 51:41Oh boy.
- 51:42So I, I had Elantra.
- 51:44Kia and then the Altima.
- 51:45Save the best for last.
- 51:47Yeah.
- 51:47Yeah.
- 51:47Save the best for last baby.
- 51:49When I was still in the rental car garage, I snapped a photo and sent it to you.
- 51:54And what was wrong with that Altima?
- 51:56The front bumper was hanging off slightly from the, they
- 52:00come that way from the factory.
- 52:02It's like Fiats in the seventies with the rust.
- 52:04Altimas do not come fully put together.
- 52:07It's like some assembly required, but here is my legitimate, okay,
- 52:11I got in the Altima, get out of the airport, all that stuff.
- 52:15Get on the highway, whatever, wherever I'm going.
- 52:17Before you get, did you do any antics in the Altima?
- 52:20Did you go full Altima driver?
- 52:22Of course not.
- 52:23You jumped some curbs.
- 52:24Did you reenact Bullet.
- 52:26Did you bounce off of some telephone poles?
- 52:29Did you pay for the insurance?
- 52:31No.
- 52:31But kid you not.
- 52:33I literally had the thought while I'm driving this car.
- 52:36This car gives no fucks.
- 52:40It's a on badger.
- 52:41This car is here for it.
- 52:44All the Elantra and the Kia, they were sitting there driving you
- 52:48back into the lane constantly.
- 52:49Boop, boop, boop.
- 52:50This boop, boop, boop, that the Altima you wanna drive in the middle
- 52:53of the road on the yellow line.
- 52:54I'll downshift for you.
- 52:55Let's go.
- 52:57Those are the Tima vibes.
- 52:58Okay.
- 52:59The Ulta is the Ultima's a Ride or Die?
- 53:03The Tima literally is there for you.
- 53:05Yeah, that's why it's the number one selling vehicle at Nissan,
- 53:08despite the fact that it's the only vehicle that Nissan sells.
- 53:12I, I wanna buy an Ultima now.
- 53:13I will say the, the, the Elantra though, like interior and everything
- 53:17was still slightly superior.
- 53:19I had a little bit nicer finish and polish to it.
- 53:22The Ultima felt a little, little plasticy inside.
- 53:25Rough around the edges.
- 53:27Yeah.
- 53:27It was, it was rough on the edges.
- 53:29It didn't give a shit.
- 53:30Yeah.
- 53:31It's just getting you where you need to go.
- 53:33Yeah.
- 53:34Need dragging pedestrians behind you?
- 53:37Well, it's dragging its bumper, it's flapping in the wind.
- 53:40All right, so I'm gonna ask this every month until you answer.
- 53:44Nope.
- 53:45Yes.
- 53:46That question is, did you watch the F1 movie?
- 53:48Not yet.
- 53:49It's not free yet, but it's Do you pay for Apple?
- 53:53Not, not yet.
- 53:53If you pay for Apple tv, you're waiting for the F1 season.
- 53:56I get it.
- 53:57So the last minute, you wanna get the maximum out of that
- 53:59Apple subscription you possibly.
- 54:01Exactly.
- 54:01Exactly.
- 54:02The Olympics are happening first.
- 54:04Okay.
- 54:04Yes.
- 54:05Then Formula One.
- 54:06Yes.
- 54:07Since we're in the middle of winter, really cold, and we've
- 54:10got some huge storms coming here.
- 54:12Destined for some inclement weather.
- 54:14Probably as you're listening to this, we're on the other end of some inclement
- 54:18weather that hit us pretty hard.
- 54:20This is borderline Florida.
- 54:22Man.
- 54:22I don't know if you guys saw this Instagram reel that was going around and
- 54:26it's not artificial intelligence, you know, generating a video to be funny or
- 54:30any, you know, somebody being a parody.
- 54:32I literally watched a video and I must have watched it 10 times 'cause
- 54:35I didn't believe what I was seeing.
- 54:37A woman was using one of those small, like little portable snowblowers and
- 54:41I'm not talking like the Ryobi one, I'm talking like the neck size up.
- 54:44Okay.
- 54:44So I'm not sure if it was gas powered or what to clear off their car from the hood.
- 54:50Up through the windshield with the snowblower back and forth and back and
- 54:55forth, and every time they went back and forth, I just cringed and said, I
- 54:59wonder how their windshield got busted.
- 55:01Can you believe the stuff that people do?
- 55:04Like how hard is it to clear your windshield considering there are
- 55:07so many people out there that just don't fucking do it after
- 55:09a snowstorm and they just drive?
- 55:11It's probably pretty hard.
- 55:12Apparently.
- 55:13I wouldn't think it was that easy to get the snowblower up on the car.
- 55:17I would think it would be harder to go through the effort of this, whatever
- 55:20the snowblower thing was than to just even use your arm if you don't
- 55:25have an ice scraper or something.
- 55:26Right.
- 55:26She did it for the grim, basically.
- 55:28She looked like an older lady, so I don't know that she was TikTok in
- 55:31the old folks home kind of thing.
- 55:33Right.
- 55:33Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 55:34But but before we go any further, I think there is a
- 55:39question that needs to be asked.
- 55:40Okay.
- 55:41Was it an Altima?
- 55:43Yes.
- 55:43Yes.
- 55:45Yes, because it's here for it all.
- 55:48As Tanya says, it's here for all of it.
- 55:50Okay.
- 55:50Yes.
- 55:50So that's what got me.
- 55:52'cause I was like, there's no way the windshield's cracked because ultimas
- 55:55will survive nuclear holocaust and there's no way that the paint is chipped
- 56:00because you could go through Armageddon with an Ultima and it will last.
- 56:03And I kept thinking the snowblower has augers.
- 56:06It should have torn up the hood.
- 56:07Nah.
- 56:08Ultimas are bulletproof.
- 56:09It's all good.
- 56:10So if you own an Ultima and you have a small snowblower, apparently
- 56:13you can clear off your car.
- 56:15Yep.
- 56:15Again, what could go wrong And then they drive 150 miles an hour down
- 56:19the road on the wrong side of the road because there's no lane assist.
- 56:21So what's stopping you from
- 56:25Alright, so book club.
- 56:26I am on a mission to get through some automotive books.
- 56:30I've got a backlog of them.
- 56:31So, you know, I just wanna throw a plug out here.
- 56:33Finally finished the revised edition of Brock Yates's tome,
- 56:39the love letter to Enzo Ferrari.
- 56:41It's the history of Enzo Ferrari from the very beginning up until his death
- 56:44in 1988, and this version was updated by his daughter because of the Ferrari movie
- 56:51that had come out a couple of years ago.
- 56:53I will say, if you're a Ferrari fan, read it.
- 56:55Get the audiobook on Spotify or Audible or wherever, check it out.
- 56:59It's immensely detailed.
- 57:01You can tell that it is a little biased.
- 57:03Brock Gates seem to be a big fan of Ferrari, although he kind
- 57:07of poo-poos on the Europeans.
- 57:08You know, very pro-American stuff like that.
- 57:10It, it is what it is.
- 57:11It was written quite a long time ago, but it is one of the definitive
- 57:16Ferrari books, especially when it comes to Ferrari history.
- 57:18So I enjoyed it.
- 57:19It's quite long.
- 57:20Book itself is hundreds and hundreds of pages, and the revised edition adds
- 57:24another couple of chapters because it goes up through Schumacher and
- 57:28current days and the return of Mon de Zilo and all this kind of stuff.
- 57:31So it's updated for the current times up until the movie a couple of years ago.
- 57:35So Enzo by Brock Yates is on my recommended read list.
- 57:39If you are a automotive historian or a automotive enthusiast, nerd.
- 57:43That's that.
- 57:44But speaking of Ferrari, we need to switch to rich people.
- 57:47Thanks.
- 57:50So I mentioned I had rental wagon here and went on a little trip to Florida.
- 57:55This is a multi-layered story here, but I will say this.
- 57:57Shout out to our friends at the Revs Institute, Naples, Florida.
- 58:00I'd never been before.
- 58:02So before going to the 2026 Mecu auction, I took a little detour to go
- 58:07visit Lauren Goodman and Arthur down at Revs and hang out there and see
- 58:10the museum and all that kinda stuff.
- 58:12Never been before, always heard good things from people that had
- 58:15been, didn't know what to expect.
- 58:17When I went there, I kept my expectations low thinking, ah, car museum.
- 58:20How good could it be?
- 58:21The minute you walk into Revs, you suddenly realize you're
- 58:24on a whole nother level.
- 58:26The place is immaculate.
- 58:27It's well curated, it's fascinating.
- 58:29The cars are interesting, the people are interesting.
- 58:31It runs like a well-oiled machine.
- 58:33I mean, we got the full tour, even the restoration shop, all of it.
- 58:36We got to see the new archives that they built in Fort Myers and got access
- 58:41to a whole bunch of like photographs and talked to a bunch of people.
- 58:43It was absolutely amazing.
- 58:45Cannot recommend revs enough.
- 58:47I wrote a short article about it with some pictures that
- 58:49will include in the show notes.
- 58:51So if you're headed to Florida and you can make the Detour to
- 58:54Southwestern Florida, go to Naples.
- 58:56Go check it out.
- 58:58Go check out the cars, ask for Lauren.
- 59:00She'll take you around or hook you up with someone there that can take you
- 59:02on a really nicely well guided tour.
- 59:05It's very much worth the stop over from Revs.
- 59:08We went to Mecu in Kissimmee, not too far from Disney World, NEP
- 59:11Cot and all that fun stuff right there in the heart of Orlando.
- 59:15It's a circus, like that's all I could say.
- 59:17Mecu Kissimmee, one of the biggest auctions in the country,
- 59:21absolute nonstop for two weeks.
- 59:24We were there at the tail end, specifically for the Bachman
- 59:26collection and the Bianco Spile, which we covered earlier in December.
- 59:32So you can go back to that multi-part mini series that we did Leading up to
- 59:35that, we got there trying to get a lay of the land pictures of all the cars,
- 59:40you know, what we wanted to see, get the programs and figure out the run order for
- 59:43the auctions and all this kind of stuff.
- 59:45And so what we did is we set up shop right there amongst all the
- 59:49craziness that was happening.
- 59:50And we did play by play commentary of the Bachman collection and the Bianco special.
- 59:55So there's an episode that dropped on January the 17th.
- 59:58You can go back into our catalog and check it out.
- 1:00:00And I was there with William from the Ferrari marketplace, John Summers the
- 1:00:03motoring historian, and we had David Ions fly in from Ontario, Canada, who's
- 1:00:08from Motor Copia, and we had all been part of that miniseries in December,
- 1:00:12but we all got together live and did commentary right there from the auction.
- 1:00:16It was pretty cool.
- 1:00:16So lots of really neat stuff across the blocks.
- 1:00:1917 record setting Ferraris, I mean, we're talking Enzos that sold for double what
- 1:00:24they should normally sell for F forties.
- 1:00:26That broke the record.
- 1:00:272 88 GTOs, 360 challenge s, just all sorts of stuff that
- 1:00:31was off the charts expensive.
- 1:00:33There was even a Ferrari 400 I that was like in disrepair and motors,
- 1:00:37half apart body panels are missing.
- 1:00:39And we were like, Hey Willie, you like those cars?
- 1:00:41You should bid on that, blah.
- 1:00:43It came out the gate and suddenly it's like a hundred thousand dollars
- 1:00:45for a car that needs to be put back together that isn't even running.
- 1:00:48And it was like just absolute off the chain.
- 1:00:50Rich people things.
- 1:00:52And so you're probably wondering as you're nodding your head, brag on, yeah.
- 1:00:55Ferrari.
- 1:00:55Was there more ketchup than there was mustard?
- 1:00:58No.
- 1:00:59The Bachmans were huge fans of yellow Ferrari.
- 1:01:02Most of their collection was yellow.
- 1:01:03So if you wanna see Ferrari you've never seen in that fly yellow or some
- 1:01:08of the more modern yellow colors, definitely check out the pictures
- 1:01:11we have from the Bachman collection.
- 1:01:12Just one of a kind.
- 1:01:14A lot of them were last of the line cars, like the last one off the production line.
- 1:01:18European delivery, crazy color combinations that were
- 1:01:22specifically ordered for them, like completely bespoke and all that.
- 1:01:25And how many Altimas went across the block and what did they sell for?
- 1:01:29Zero.
- 1:01:30Yeah.
- 1:01:30Here's the thing that boggles me about auctions, right?
- 1:01:32It's crazy.
- 1:01:33Now Mecu is a little bit.
- 1:01:35Less what John Summers likes to call past the butter auctions.
- 1:01:39Those are the, you know, the Sotheby's, you know, the Goodings and all those,
- 1:01:42like what you would expect if you ever watched the movie, the Red Violin.
- 1:01:45That's what those auctions are like.
- 1:01:47You know, they're quiet, but you got these auctioneers telling a story and trying to
- 1:01:51get people excited and there's someone in the background sipping tea and holding a
- 1:01:54little paddle, you know, or gently rubbing their ear or something, you know, whatever
- 1:01:57the signal is that they wanna make a bid.
- 1:02:00Kom is more like, it's like the farm show auction, and they got the guy,
- 1:02:08and it is just this pattern that's constantly going on
- 1:02:11nonstop, and they take turns.
- 1:02:13They just have auctioneers that just rotate through and they take a
- 1:02:16break and it's just, it's bonkers.
- 1:02:18And so there's a lot of energy in the room, but it's no ultimas.
- 1:02:23No, but Corvettes for $800,000.
- 1:02:25You're like, where is the money coming from?
- 1:02:27I mean, Yanko, Camaros for millions of dollars.
- 1:02:30You're like.
- 1:02:31Who's buying these cars?
- 1:02:33The amount of money that was crossing the block was absolutely insane.
- 1:02:36And I did a rough calculation.
- 1:02:38The Bachman collection alone, hammer values before fees.
- 1:02:42'cause you always have to tack on like another 10% to everything that sells.
- 1:02:45It was like $55 million just for those 40 cars in the Bachman collection.
- 1:02:50You're like, they had four to 5,000 cars go through Mecu in two weeks.
- 1:02:56And I mean, you're talking again, Corvettes for $800,000 a pop.
- 1:03:00You do the math, it's billions and billions of dollars running through
- 1:03:05and it's like, where is it coming from?
- 1:03:08Where's it going?
- 1:03:09Some of these cars, I feel like they rotate from one auction to the next.
- 1:03:12Right.
- 1:03:12People are buying them and flipping 'em.
- 1:03:13They probably didn't even take 'em off the car carrier that, you know, they
- 1:03:15probably showed up to collect them on.
- 1:03:17So there's a game there too.
- 1:03:19I mean, you get some inside baseball and how some of that stuff works, but I'm just
- 1:03:22like, that's too rich for my blood man.
- 1:03:23It's straight up rich people things.
- 1:03:25Yeah.
- 1:03:26So then the crescendo, you know, we were building up to the Bianca Spec.
- 1:03:29That's the 19 61, 2 50 GTO Ferrari.
- 1:03:32The only one made in white, one of eight right hand drives driven by Graham Hill.
- 1:03:37You know, Roy Salvador, all this stuff.
- 1:03:38You, you can go back and listen to the whole story.
- 1:03:40All the provenance that that car has.
- 1:03:42You gotta remember two 50 GTOs don't sell on an auction block.
- 1:03:46Normally they are traded like Picassos and Rembrandt and Renoirs.
- 1:03:50They're like art pieces.
- 1:03:51People don't really drive two 50 GTOs unless you're uh, crazy.
- 1:03:55No, the guy from Pink Floyd, what's his name?
- 1:03:56Nick.
- 1:03:57Nick Mason.
- 1:03:58Yes.
- 1:03:58Nick Mason.
- 1:03:59There you go.
- 1:04:00So, at any rate.
- 1:04:01This two 50 GTO up for auction.
- 1:04:03It's the first one up for auction in like over 10 years or something like that.
- 1:04:05So anyway, there's a, there's sort of a range.
- 1:04:07When you sell privately, they don't declare like how much things go for.
- 1:04:12And so there's sort of a range between let's say like, I think 35 and 75, right?
- 1:04:18The guy from WeatherTech bought his for right around 75.
- 1:04:21And then there was one that, you know, somebody bought way back when
- 1:04:24and wrecked and they died in it, but they never raced it and it had to be
- 1:04:28rebuilt and that one was considered a bad one and it sold for like 35.
- 1:04:31There was all these projections that either the Bianca was gonna do better
- 1:04:35than McNeil's silver one, or it was gonna sit somewhere in the middle, right?
- 1:04:40Maybe, let's say 50 million, right?
- 1:04:42We're not talking thousands, we're talking millions of dollars.
- 1:04:45So we get there.
- 1:04:46You could tell that there was somebody on the phone, there was somebody in the room.
- 1:04:51There were only a couple people that were in that space, right?
- 1:04:54Because they came out opening bid 50 million, and then they had to drop it.
- 1:04:57They dropped it all the way down to 25 to try to get some bidding going, and
- 1:05:02it just crept up and crept up and crept up, and the whole thing was sort of over
- 1:05:05and done with in about 20 to 25 minutes.
- 1:05:08Unlike the other cars where they kind of speed 'em through,
- 1:05:11they're trying to ramp it up.
- 1:05:12They wanna get it back to that 50 million, which is where we thought the
- 1:05:15reserve was probably sitting there.
- 1:05:16So they took the reserve off at 35, trying to push it to 36, you know,
- 1:05:21and that number, and it just sort of sat there and sat there and sat there.
- 1:05:24And then they finally settled on 35, which came out to 38 and changed with
- 1:05:28fees, but still $35 million for a Ferrari.
- 1:05:33Good god.
- 1:05:34That's rich people things.
- 1:05:36It is pretty though.
- 1:05:37It's even prettier in person.
- 1:05:38I mean, it's a good, it's one of the best looking Ferrari's hands down.
- 1:05:41I mean, it's like that moment they just got it right, you know?
- 1:05:44They got it right on all levels.
- 1:05:45It was winning and racing.
- 1:05:47It was winning in design.
- 1:05:48It was just a winning car.
- 1:05:50Not to say that they couldn't repeat it later.
- 1:05:52But it was just one of those things, you know, but you had to be there,
- 1:05:56but you can sort of relive it by re-listening to that episode.
- 1:05:59So, and in the end, would I go to another auction as a commentator?
- 1:06:02Absolutely.
- 1:06:03Could I bid on anything?
- 1:06:04No.
- 1:06:04Like, it hurts me, like, just to see those numbers.
- 1:06:07Like maybe I could go to the, the co-part auction when they're getting
- 1:06:10rid of, you know, like an insurance car or an old police car or something.
- 1:06:13But that caliber of auction is just, you have to be committed to
- 1:06:17what you're buying at that point.
- 1:06:19Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:20It looks here that we got some extra notes in the, uh, in our rich people.
- 1:06:25What is this value meal?
- 1:06:26What's going on here?
- 1:06:27It's a different segment.
- 1:06:28What is the drive-through, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:06:31It's not rich people things.
- 1:06:33It's it's value meal.
- 1:06:34It's things the everyday person can afford.
- 1:06:36Yeah.
- 1:06:37That are fun.
- 1:06:38Ah, it's rich people things And Goodwill.
- 1:06:41Dollar menu.
- 1:06:42Maybe it should be Dollar menu.
- 1:06:44Dollar menu.
- 1:06:45I thought of dollar menu at first and then I thought maybe
- 1:06:48that's ripping somebody off.
- 1:06:49Do, do, do, do, do.
- 1:06:51It's the extra value menu.
- 1:06:53Yeah.
- 1:06:53Family Dollar.
- 1:06:55This ain't Burger King.
- 1:06:56You can't have it your way.
- 1:06:59No.
- 1:06:59But as you know, more and more of us are becoming Lego or brick enthusiasts.
- 1:07:04The Brick shop by Mattel has unveiled their latest build,
- 1:07:09which is a nineties Honda Civic.
- 1:07:11Gee, I wonder who's had one of those before.
- 1:07:14I don't know Brad, who had one of those.
- 1:07:16Me.
- 1:07:17I mean, if this was red, it would look exactly like yours.
- 1:07:20It would, it would.
- 1:07:21Why did they pick this color though?
- 1:07:23Because they already have the Hot Wheels in that color.
- 1:07:26Yeah, the Hot Wheels was already in that color.
- 1:07:28They already had the paint.
- 1:07:30You know, and it's funny because these are becoming more popular.
- 1:07:33Mattel is trying to break into that speed champion's Lego
- 1:07:37market there the other day.
- 1:07:39Well, when I was in Florida, I actually went through a Walmart.
- 1:07:42I had to go pick something up and I walked just for giggles.
- 1:07:45You walk through the toy aisle, always the Hot Wheels section.
- 1:07:49I've never been more repulsed in my life.
- 1:07:51It looked like a bomb went off.
- 1:07:53I was like, I'm not even gonna bother.
- 1:07:54Like, I won't bother with the bins that you see, you know, like
- 1:07:57the, the, the 50 gallon drums.
- 1:07:59Like, I'm like, ah, it's a disaster.
- 1:08:00I'm not dealing with that.
- 1:08:01Usually Walmart Target, like they put 'em up on the pegboard and you kind of glance
- 1:08:05underneath and you could see everything.
- 1:08:06This looked like an explosion.
- 1:08:08So I was like, all right, nevermind.
- 1:08:09But what caught my eye, it looked over because the Hot Wheels.
- 1:08:12These Mattel brick shop, not to call them Legos 'cause they're their own thing.
- 1:08:16It's like mega blocks, right?
- 1:08:17Or whatever they used to be called are right next to the Hot Wheels.
- 1:08:20And I saw the Audi RS two version that they have available.
- 1:08:24And for a minute I was like, I'm gonna buy that.
- 1:08:27I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna get it, it's gonna be mine, I'm gonna bring it home.
- 1:08:30And then I went, I don't have that much space in my luggage
- 1:08:32so I'm not gonna do it.
- 1:08:33And I'll see if I can find one local.
- 1:08:34I had, it was right there, it was like in, it was just within reach and I didn't
- 1:08:39do it, but I did buy the Audi 90 GTO car a couple years ago when that came out.
- 1:08:44So I have that.
- 1:08:45So I was like, ah, so maybe I made a mistake and I'm never gonna find one.
- 1:08:49You should have bought it and went straight to the UPS store.
- 1:08:52And just ship it to yourself.
- 1:08:53It's so stupid.
- 1:08:54So stupid.
- 1:08:55Oh, well.
- 1:08:55But glad to see that Mattel is doing something like this.
- 1:08:59I think it's pretty cool.
- 1:09:00There's some new stuff coming out from Lego too, which looks super interesting.
- 1:09:03So this whole, you know, one 18 scale brick based modeling is pretty neat.
- 1:09:07I think this is cool stuff.
- 1:09:09All right, segment two F colon r ru.
- 1:09:11Faster than an interceptor.
- 1:09:14Tanya in parentheses Florida.
- 1:09:15Man.
- 1:09:16Oh boy.
- 1:09:16Ron Burgundy's back.
- 1:09:32So I have a Florida man story because I was in Florida.
- 1:09:35There was this Ja off driving a Grand Wagoner owl.
- 1:09:40Yeah, ping ponging down the road.
- 1:09:42No, no, no.
- 1:09:42So get this.
- 1:09:43So we're on our way from Revs to Mecu early in the morning.
- 1:09:46We got up, hit the road figure, we'll knock it out, we gotta pick up William.
- 1:09:50'cause he had gone down early, all this kind of stuff.
- 1:09:52So it's like, all right, cool.
- 1:09:53We get most of the way there and I'm like, anybody else gotta pee?
- 1:09:57And they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:58So there's a Circle K. So I just, you know, bail pulled in a circle K figure.
- 1:10:02It's a good time to get a cup of coffee and relieve oneself and, and whatever.
- 1:10:07Yeah.
- 1:10:07I wander around the circle KA little bit and it's like, ah, before I
- 1:10:09buy anything, you know, go pee.
- 1:10:11Well, you know, normally I, I don't wanna say you go as a group 'cause you don't,
- 1:10:14you try not to, you know, the whole, you know, there's that unspoken rule of space
- 1:10:18at the urinal and all that kind of thing.
- 1:10:20You know, we all, we all know how it goes, right.
- 1:10:22Instead, we all go in together.
- 1:10:24John Summers to my right, I'm in the middle.
- 1:10:27David Nyan, our friendly Canadian walks into the stall that the door
- 1:10:31is open to and all you hear is, whoa.
- 1:10:34I'm sorry.
- 1:10:36And there's an older guy in there doing his business, wiping himself,
- 1:10:40and he looks at David and apparently David is completely embarrassed and
- 1:10:44I heard it through the stall wall.
- 1:10:46He's just like he.
- 1:10:48He like, gotcha sucker.
- 1:10:50And then next I hear John Summers go, I suddenly have stage
- 1:10:54fright and I'm like, oh my God.
- 1:10:56This is the most awkward bathroom situation I could have
- 1:10:59ever anticipated in my life.
- 1:11:01So can you imagine walking into a bathroom stall and facing a Florida man?
- 1:11:06And he's happy by the fact that he snared you in his web.
- 1:11:11As he's sitting there in the Circle K bathroom.
- 1:11:14Wow.
- 1:11:17Your guys' faces say it all.
- 1:11:19Was it a Circle K or a Circle J?
- 1:11:22Something was amiss.
- 1:11:23Something was afoot.
- 1:11:24The Circle K. Yeah.
- 1:11:25Something's amiss.
- 1:11:26And I had to keep him laughing.
- 1:11:27Right?
- 1:11:28Because I find all of this extremely amusing.
- 1:11:30David is so polite.
- 1:11:32He closes the stall door and it's just like, oh my God.
- 1:11:37That's very Canadian of you, David.
- 1:11:38I know, right?
- 1:11:39I'm just like, oh, wow.
- 1:11:41But can you imagine?
- 1:11:42Can you imagine Florida man?
- 1:11:46I'm surprised he didn't spread his legs and say, you can go in between.
- 1:11:52No.
- 1:11:53Ah.
- 1:11:55How good of a shot are you?
- 1:11:57Here hold this.
- 1:11:58Yeah.
- 1:12:01Taken so many different ways.
- 1:12:03Did you need some help there, bud?
- 1:12:05God, it's so good.
- 1:12:07Wow.
- 1:12:07That's a memory there.
- 1:12:08That's unforgettable.
- 1:12:09I mean, it's different for me.
- 1:12:11David must be still having nightmares about that.
- 1:12:13I mean, can you imagine?
- 1:12:14It really puts the name of the next segment into
- 1:12:16perspective behind the pit wall.
- 1:12:18Yeah.
- 1:12:18Right.
- 1:12:19Well, let's go behind the pit wall for some of motor sports
- 1:12:22news, not formula Rolex.
- 1:12:25That's it.
- 1:12:26Is.
- 1:12:26The beginning of the year, Rolex is here.
- 1:12:29I cannot tell you the results because we recorded this just before Rolex, and
- 1:12:32it's gonna come out just after Rolex, so we'll have to talk about that next time.
- 1:12:36But in WEC imsa, SRO News, something interesting that happened during the
- 1:12:41winter months came across my desk.
- 1:12:43Changes are coming to Lama this year, and a news article that was
- 1:12:47sort of buried on Lamont's website.
- 1:12:50There's a rendering of the changes that are being made to the infamous
- 1:12:53Dunlap Bridge and Dunlap Curve.
- 1:12:56They're no longer gonna be called either.
- 1:12:58They're going to be sponsored by Goodyear and branded by Goodyear.
- 1:13:02Thus connecting the Goodyear Tribune, which is where the Club
- 1:13:04de Piot is with La Chappelle.
- 1:13:07Over the Goodyear Bridge, through the Goodyear Curves.
- 1:13:09Goodyear, Goodyear, Goodyear.
- 1:13:10It's all gonna be Goodyear.
- 1:13:12I don't know how I feel about it.
- 1:13:13I care, but I don't care.
- 1:13:15But I care because it's always been Dunlop Bridge and it's
- 1:13:18always been Dunlop Curve forever.
- 1:13:19Why the sudden change?
- 1:13:21If you want to know how I feel about it, I didn't even know it
- 1:13:24was Dunlop Bridge before 'cause I paid zero attention to that.
- 1:13:27So I, it's a, it, I'm indifferent.
- 1:13:30Ah, that's no fun.
- 1:13:32I recuse myself, I mean.
- 1:13:34Why there is no explanation for that other than money talks.
- 1:13:38I mean, iconic at this point, it'd be like painting the Eiffel Tower Blue
- 1:13:43and slapping the Goodyear logo on it.
- 1:13:44Right.
- 1:13:45It's doesn't making any sense to me.
- 1:13:46Well, Michelin wouldn't let that happen.
- 1:13:48Well, you know, it's kind of funny because correct me if I'm wrong,
- 1:13:51and Dunlap's British, right?
- 1:13:52It's currently owned by Sumi.
- 1:13:54Oh, so it's Japanese then.
- 1:13:56All right.
- 1:13:56Then was founded by John Boyd Dunlap in Belfast, Ireland.
- 1:14:00There you go.
- 1:14:01See my memory's still.
- 1:14:02Okay, well, speaking of Lamont 2026, my.
- 1:14:06Favorite race of the year, though I'm not a, again, I have committed
- 1:14:09to Formula One, and we'll talk about that on another episode.
- 1:14:12Well, we have to, this year we have to.
- 1:14:14Yes.
- 1:14:14I have to commit to Formula One for one more year.
- 1:14:16Everything's changing and there's new cars and everything, so new drivers, new teams.
- 1:14:21Speaking of new cars, but not new teams, you posted a link to the Twitter
- 1:14:26feed for the new Toyota Hypercar.
- 1:14:30This looks really cool.
- 1:14:32Sort of a step away from what they've done before.
- 1:14:35Lots more airflow in this design.
- 1:14:38I like the front end.
- 1:14:39I like the sharpness.
- 1:14:40It's got that GR 86 super kind of look to it.
- 1:14:43But what do we think about, are we hopeful for Toyota and Laman this year?
- 1:14:46They've three years in a row.
- 1:14:47It's been Ferrari's game.
- 1:14:49It's their year to lose.
- 1:14:50Of course, we have to cheer for Ferrari and then I silently
- 1:14:52cheer for Poeo to do well.
- 1:14:53I know, I know, right?
- 1:14:56Well, Porsche's out.
- 1:14:57We know that.
- 1:14:57Porsche's out.
- 1:14:58Lamborghini's out a hypercar.
- 1:14:59So there's two teams out.
- 1:15:00'cause again, gotta pay for Formula One somehow.
- 1:15:03So Toyota's still in the game.
- 1:15:04Hyundai's coming.
- 1:15:05Ford is coming, probably not this year, but next year.
- 1:15:09I still think it would be smart if Ferrari got out, go out on a high.
- 1:15:13Cadillac's.
- 1:15:13Still there, right?
- 1:15:14Cadillac's still there.
- 1:15:16BMWI think is iffy, but I, if I recall, they're committed for another year.
- 1:15:21And then I gotta look at who else is on the roster.
- 1:15:23But L and P one, P one GTP, whatever you wanna call it, is filling
- 1:15:26up, it's getting bulky up there.
- 1:15:28So there's a lot of people in contention, but Toyota coming with
- 1:15:31a new car, it's still Ferrari's race to lose if they commit this year.
- 1:15:36So we'll see.
- 1:15:37Time will tell.
- 1:15:37They have not announced the roster of cars that are going to be at
- 1:15:42this year's running of Lamas.
- 1:15:43So we'll see.
- 1:15:44The other thing I wanted to mention with respect to endurance racing, for anybody
- 1:15:49that's been following our digital magazine for a while, you probably caught on
- 1:15:52last year, we are carrying Lepert Motor Sports Super T News and they do endurance
- 1:15:58races of all lengths around the world, especially Asia and Europe and so on.
- 1:16:02So there's like six hours of Dubai, did you know those?
- 1:16:04A 24 hours Yas Marina, places like that.
- 1:16:06It's super cool.
- 1:16:07So we get all of their press information and then, you know,
- 1:16:10we run it as part of the magazine.
- 1:16:11So if you're interested in more forms of endurance racing than maybe you
- 1:16:15weren't familiar with, check out.
- 1:16:17Articles that we're putting out following Leaper Motorsport.
- 1:16:20There's other teams that you can follow in that series, but I think
- 1:16:22it's really cool to check out, you know, the super TRO racing and whatnot.
- 1:16:26It's actually pretty good racing.
- 1:16:27I mean, the, when they're together as a spec series, the cars are very,
- 1:16:31very competitive and it's a lot of fun to see a bunch of R eights
- 1:16:33going, oh, did I say that out loud?
- 1:16:35Uh, a bunch of Lamborghinis running together on track now, you know,
- 1:16:39we talked about Christmas presents.
- 1:16:41What we didn't get, I actually got a couple things during the winter break.
- 1:16:45I got project motor racing and I got a Seto rally, so I
- 1:16:49wanted to follow up on that.
- 1:16:50And I also wanted to follow up on the update to a Seto Evo.
- 1:16:54Project motor racing is project cars two, race skin the way it
- 1:16:58should have been, instead of the pitiful disgraceful disappointment.
- 1:17:02That was Project Cars three, which was two cartoony and two Forza, you
- 1:17:06know, and all the things that people hated about Project Cars three.
- 1:17:08So Project Motor Racing takes us back to Project Cars two and does everything
- 1:17:12right that it's supposed to do.
- 1:17:14It has its own issues.
- 1:17:15It's being updated.
- 1:17:16It gets better with every patch.
- 1:17:18You know, they're, they are taking the advice of the fans and making changes,
- 1:17:22and they're doing them in pretty rapid order, which is pretty cool.
- 1:17:25A Seto rally came outta the gate swinging, looks amazing.
- 1:17:29Didn't come with a ton of tracks, stages, or cars.
- 1:17:32They released their winter pack during these winter months.
- 1:17:36It added snow.
- 1:17:38And it added a test track in Italy, but it's just a test track.
- 1:17:41It's not a winter stage in Sweden or Monte Carlo or anywhere else where
- 1:17:45they run rally stages in the wintertime and they added a, a couple new cars.
- 1:17:49But it's sort of like you're waiting for that.
- 1:17:51Okay, gimme the rest of it.
- 1:17:52Moment.
- 1:17:53Is it good?
- 1:17:54Yes.
- 1:17:54Is it amazing?
- 1:17:55Absolutely.
- 1:17:56Is it visually stunning?
- 1:17:57Check, check, check, check.
- 1:17:58All the things that a Seto Evo was not Aceto.
- 1:18:02Evo always looked good, but the physics was wha and the tracks were, eh, and
- 1:18:07the cars were, you just couldn't get over the fact that it was like pre alpha
- 1:18:11code that they were giving us in a Seto.
- 1:18:13Evo now Evo and rally under the same design house of simulators, but
- 1:18:19developed by two entirely different units inside of that same house.
- 1:18:23So rally by one team.
- 1:18:25Evo by another.
- 1:18:26What's interesting is Evo jumped massively when they released version 0.4.
- 1:18:32So their fourth release of a set of Evo, that's when they introduced
- 1:18:35the Ferrari F 40 lm, bunch of other cars, new tracks and stuff.
- 1:18:40And I tell you what, man, I have been driving the heck out of it now.
- 1:18:43The physics has improved.
- 1:18:45Handling's improved.
- 1:18:46Some of the cars are very fragile.
- 1:18:48Like I love driving the F 40.
- 1:18:50It puts a smile on my face.
- 1:18:51The gearbox is absolute garbage, but you get it something like an NSX or a nine 11
- 1:18:56Turbo, and they're a lot of fun to drive.
- 1:18:59You don't really have to worry about them.
- 1:19:00They're a lot stronger.
- 1:19:01They're like indestructible in comparison to the F 40, but the F
- 1:19:0440, they, the sound alone just puts a smile on my face and running it at
- 1:19:08tracks like Mila and Monza and you know, all the famous Italian tracks.
- 1:19:11It's just, oh, it's so good.
- 1:19:13I am very hopeful now for a set of evos.
- 1:19:15So I'm hoping that, you know, version five and six and seven that they put out,
- 1:19:19'cause they're on this supposedly monthly, but it's more like when they feel like
- 1:19:23it release schedule that it's only gonna continue to progress and it's going to
- 1:19:27get where they promised us it would be.
- 1:19:29So those are my top three titles right now.
- 1:19:32Granted the fact that Lamont's Ultimate JDM, drift Masters, solar
- 1:19:36Crowns, they're all, they were all updated during the winter months.
- 1:19:39It just takes me a whole bunch of time to go back and kind of mess with them
- 1:19:42and play with them and, and get a feel.
- 1:19:43So it's hard to jump between games 'cause then you, you gotta get
- 1:19:46used to the physics all over again 'cause they're all very different.
- 1:19:49But really happy with what's coming out of Project Motor Racing and
- 1:19:52the Aceto Rally and Seto Evo stuff.
- 1:19:54So, good stuff there.
- 1:19:56Brad, I mean, you were a drag racer in your younger years.
- 1:19:59I'm not as directly connected to this last bit of Motorsport news here.
- 1:20:04John Force officially announced his retirement.
- 1:20:06It's about time, 16 time NHRA champion.
- 1:20:10I. You almost don't have enough digits to put rings on at that point.
- 1:20:13You know what I mean?
- 1:20:14It's ally putting him on his to Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:20:16Right.
- 1:20:17A fill in both feet.
- 1:20:18Yeah.
- 1:20:19Go for the full 20.
- 1:20:20So yeah, John Forcet retires.
- 1:20:21That doesn't mean his kids aren't still drag racing.
- 1:20:23The forced daughters and, and all them.
- 1:20:26So there's a lot still going on in the John Forcet dynasty.
- 1:20:30Yeah.
- 1:20:30And I, I think he's still affiliated with the team.
- 1:20:32He's just not driving anymore.
- 1:20:34Yeah.
- 1:20:34So it's not the last we've seen of John.
- 1:20:36It's just he's not gonna be driving anymore.
- 1:20:38And you know, at his age.
- 1:20:40That's probably smart.
- 1:20:40Probably smart.
- 1:20:41Yep.
- 1:20:42Or it's the traumatic brain injury he suffered in 2024 from a crash.
- 1:20:47That too.
- 1:20:48Why do you have to rain on my parade
- 1:20:54this year?
- 1:20:55Our Motorsports News is brought to you in part by Enduros, powered
- 1:20:59by Hyper Dev America's premier endurance racing community.
- 1:21:03So check it out online and become a member@www.endur.com.
- 1:21:18This year's GTM Trackside report is gonna take a slightly different turn for 2026.
- 1:21:23Instead of talking about, you know, who, what, when and where of HPE
- 1:21:25track days and all that kind of thing.
- 1:21:27We're gonna use this spot to talk about our latest adventure in racing.
- 1:21:32And what is that exactly?
- 1:21:34Well, we bought a car because we're gonna go 24 hours of lemons.
- 1:21:38Endurance racing.
- 1:21:39Woo.
- 1:21:40We did not use Brad's pumpkin spice.
- 1:21:43Although that was a $500 special, we found another 500 car, two $500 cars
- 1:21:49in one Y. That's like, we might as well play the lottery or at least get
- 1:21:53SHA GPT to play the lottery for us.
- 1:21:54Right.
- 1:21:56You heard about that, right?
- 1:21:58We got a Ford Focus.
- 1:22:00For 500 bucks and we're gonna go racing and it's gonna be awesome and
- 1:22:04we're gonna talk about the progress we're making, things like that.
- 1:22:07So the first step, you know, acquire the car for the right amount of money,
- 1:22:10you know, playing to the lemons rules.
- 1:22:11Go check out 24 hour hours of lemons.com so you can kind of get up
- 1:22:15to speed of what we're talking about.
- 1:22:15If you don't know next stages, we're taking it off to the cage
- 1:22:18builder to get all the safety stuff put in fire suppression seats.
- 1:22:23You know, all that kind of thing.
- 1:22:24So that's the next phase of the project and we're gonna go on from there.
- 1:22:26We are gonna have an opportunity for people to get involved with the team.
- 1:22:30So look for an announcement about that very soon.
- 1:22:33Look to our show notes for how you can be part of the team and put air quotes around
- 1:22:37that, how you can help us reach our goal.
