- 0:21Speaker 3: Here's Jacob Hester.
- 0:34Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 0:36Speaker 3: It is O TV here live from Rous' is on
- 0:40Speaker 3: Burbank and Lee, and we're gonna be joined now by
- 0:44Speaker 3: our teammate, former number eighteen, mister Richard Dick Dixon here
- 0:49Speaker 3: on the show.
- 0:50Speaker 2: What's up, Dick?
- 0:51Speaker 5: How are we doing doing? Good? Guy on three?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yep, let's try that again. How's it going?
- 0:55Speaker 5: Awesome? Hey, there we go.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Look at me.
- 0:58Speaker 5: I pushed the right button. You have ever done live
- 1:00Speaker 5: radio before? Yeah, come back? Got it?
- 1:04Speaker 3: This is uh, this is a little throwback. We'll go
- 1:06Speaker 3: back to nighttime radio here, bolls.
- 1:08Speaker 6: Nighttime probably the most fun on Fridays.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we did show. It was it a be
- 1:14Speaker 5: our social yeah, red stick Yeah long doubt about that. Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 5: It was a two hour show. Yeah, and then we
- 1:22Speaker 5: would want.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Three maybe twelve years, I don't know something.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah. We just drink a bunch of beers.
- 1:27Speaker 7: Yeah, and our families come say us and they run
- 1:29Speaker 7: and play and true can we.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Do that again. Maybe I don't know. The morning time
- 1:34Speaker 2: the same vibe.
- 1:35Speaker 7: Yeah, no, not at all goes down as well. Not
- 1:38Speaker 7: to mention it was twenty nineteen.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Was it that year?
- 1:41Speaker 5: It was that year.
- 1:42Speaker 2: That makes a lot of years.
- 1:43Speaker 5: Everything was fun Fridays. Fridays were a vibe. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:46Speaker 5: In twenty nineteen, that's true. Oh, the good old days.
- 1:49Speaker 2: That's fun.
- 1:50Speaker 3: And like it was the only time that I guess
- 1:52Speaker 3: we because we're doing night radio. It's like, oh, they're
- 1:54Speaker 3: letting out this version of this show during the pay
- 1:58Speaker 3: Oh good, look.
- 1:59Speaker 6: The best part about that night shows and me and
- 2:01Speaker 6: Matt would probably get together about five. You'll have a
- 2:04Speaker 6: marguerite or something, talk about it a little bit, then
- 2:07Speaker 6: show fresh.
- 2:07Speaker 7: You had to get ready, Yeah, we was ready to go.
- 2:09Speaker 7: He had to loosen the lips a little bit.
- 2:11Speaker 3: You might need to do secis or two after what's
- 2:13Speaker 3: going on here at LSU. Uh, And like, I know
- 2:15Speaker 3: you're gonna be with Hanny a little bit later on,
- 2:18Speaker 3: and you know, I'm sure Handy a lifelong LSU fans
- 2:21Speaker 3: certainly got some thoughts. But you heard a little bit
- 2:24Speaker 3: of the press conference. You know what's going on as well.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And we've talked about it. It's you know, the stability
- 2:30Speaker 3: right now doesn't look great, But what are your feelings?
- 2:32Speaker 6: Man? I just always have the feeling that, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 6: we might mess up, there might be an era of issues.
- 2:39Speaker 5: But we always bounce back. Right.
- 2:41Speaker 6: There's so much talent here, there's so much people that
- 2:43Speaker 6: love the sport, love LSU, want it to be great
- 2:47Speaker 6: that I think it shows that when they're willing to
- 2:49Speaker 6: pay fifty four me and after four years to get
- 2:51Speaker 6: rid of the guy and bring in whoever we need
- 2:53Speaker 6: to do.
- 2:54Speaker 7: Yeah, you're kind of in a situation where, I mean,
- 2:57Speaker 7: this is LSU And they started out that press conference
- 3:00Speaker 7: saying like LSU Athletics is not broken.
- 3:02Speaker 5: We're in a little bit of troubled waters, right.
- 3:04Speaker 7: It's a little bit of turmoil, uncertainty, change always brings in.
- 3:07Speaker 5: It's really a little bit of Yeah, it's just football.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I mean men's basketball obviously has to play better. But
- 3:13Speaker 3: the situation that you had that one you can kind
- 3:16Speaker 3: of understand because of we all thought that you were
- 3:19Speaker 3: going to get some sanctions.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So like, it's just football.
- 3:22Speaker 5: Now.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Football is the main one to your point, But it's
- 3:25Speaker 3: like the athletic program isn't broken.
- 3:28Speaker 6: Well, that's what I don't want to say. In LSU athletics,
- 3:30Speaker 6: I'm like, look, it's football. We won a national championship
- 3:33Speaker 6: baseball last year. Basketball's one one recently, baseball's one two. Uh,
- 3:37Speaker 6: gymnastics one one. I mean LSU athletics is great. Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 6: it's just we're in a three and a half year yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Oh football.
- 3:44Speaker 7: Yeah, and football is obviously the main thing because that's
- 3:47Speaker 7: the sport that mostly get So if football is unhealthy,
- 3:49Speaker 7: everything else.
- 3:50Speaker 5: It's the revenue generator.
- 3:52Speaker 7: And when it comes down to it at state school,
- 3:54Speaker 7: like it's all about money, right, and it doesn't matter
- 3:56Speaker 7: like you, like we were talking about women's basketball. It's awesome.
- 4:00Speaker 7: It's been so great, Kim Molky company. It has been
- 4:02Speaker 7: amazing for that sport. But even the year they won
- 4:05Speaker 7: the national starts almost yeah, lost almost ten million dollars
- 4:08Speaker 7: in revenue, just because you know, I got salaries, you
- 4:11Speaker 7: got a bunch of coaches, you got all this and that.
- 4:13Speaker 7: So like, if football is unhealthy, that overshadows every good
- 4:17Speaker 7: that you can do.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, if football is healthy, it hides a
- 4:20Speaker 3: lot of things.
- 4:20Speaker 2: How many programs could we go to?
- 4:22Speaker 3: They were like man, their athletic department as a whole sucks,
- 4:26Speaker 3: but their football is great. Right, Yeah, it's like everything else, baseball, softball,
- 4:29Speaker 3: basketball is all horrible.
- 4:31Speaker 6: But it also seems when football is great, other teams
- 4:33Speaker 6: do really well.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Right I know.
- 4:37Speaker 7: And it's crazy to think though, like in an athletic
- 4:40Speaker 7: department that is as amazing as LSU is. Like you
- 4:44Speaker 7: look at you had the documentaries about the nil you had.
- 4:47Speaker 7: You get a national championship in baseball with the guy
- 4:49Speaker 7: that Scott Woodward hired, You get it four months ago,
- 4:52Speaker 7: and then all of a sudden How crazy football is?
- 4:55Speaker 7: You lose three games against really good teams and then
- 4:58Speaker 7: all of a sudden, all hell breaks.
- 5:00Speaker 6: I was talking to Hanny about this. I mean my
- 5:02Speaker 6: freshman year, we started the season three and two and everything.
- 5:06Speaker 6: I don't remember anybody panicking, nobody was freaking out. It
- 5:08Speaker 6: was just, you know, we lost the close game at
- 5:11Speaker 6: Auburn and then I think we lost to Florida. But
- 5:14Speaker 6: we were three and two, and everybody, Okay, we still
- 5:16Speaker 6: go to the Sugar Bowl.
- 5:17Speaker 3: We ended that season. If there was a playoff, we
- 5:21Speaker 3: didn't won the national championship. Yeah, nobody wanted.
- 5:23Speaker 6: To play killed Notre Dame in these dueves when Marge
- 5:28Speaker 6: or whatever.
- 5:29Speaker 3: I don't say times of Akoski though, because he was
- 5:31Speaker 3: a Golden Glove.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Boxer, I wouldn't have messed with him.
- 5:35Speaker 2: For gotches some margins on that team.
- 5:38Speaker 6: I just remember meeting them on Bourbon Street and then
- 5:40Speaker 6: like trying to Big League and I was like, we're
- 5:42Speaker 6: going to kill you.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that exact moment as well. Uh yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 3: you're you're right about that. Like that, it's funny, like
- 5:51Speaker 3: there wasn't a panic because you know, it is the
- 5:53Speaker 3: way we lost the games too, though, and it's it's
- 5:55Speaker 3: the way we lost games like they were hard fought
- 5:58Speaker 3: games and Florida won the National championship that year, and uh,
- 6:02Speaker 3: really that.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Was just a bad game. I mean, I think JaMarcus
- 6:05Speaker 6: had three or four picks in the game. We fumbled
- 6:07Speaker 6: the kickoff on the water to get me out the half.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I mean, there were so many things.
- 6:11Speaker 3: That JaMarcus fumbled on the one yard line on first
- 6:14Speaker 3: down after we were in a fullback belly.
- 6:16Speaker 5: I think, yeah, I thought I got in, I didn't score.
- 6:20Speaker 5: I thought.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I still think I did go back and pull up
- 6:22Speaker 3: the tape. Two thousand and six, but we were like,
- 6:25Speaker 3: it's fine, we're first and goal from the one and
- 6:27Speaker 3: we got a giant quarterback.
- 6:28Speaker 2: We'll just sneak it.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It's fine, And they fumbled and then Firstie Harvard I
- 6:32Speaker 3: think went the other way for a touchdown or something
- 6:33Speaker 3: like that.
- 6:34Speaker 5: So everything was stacked.
- 6:38Speaker 3: To the whole point of that though, it's like what
- 6:40Speaker 3: happened Saturday in Tiger Stadium, Like I.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Know, for me, we lost two games.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I believe in Tiger Stadium my entire four years. Tennessee
- 6:50Speaker 3: overtime on a Monday night near in Katrina and then
- 6:52Speaker 3: triple overtime versus Arkansas.
- 6:54Speaker 5: So both overtime losses.
- 6:56Speaker 3: It was it's not only that you were losing games,
- 6:58Speaker 3: it was the way you were losing Vanderbilt.
- 7:00Speaker 2: You got big boyd. You got bullied by.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Vanderbilt, right, and you go back and you look at
- 7:07Speaker 3: the old Miss game like that game had so many
- 7:09Speaker 3: things in it that you just didn't do right, and
- 7:12Speaker 3: that are coaching points.
- 7:13Speaker 2: And then you got ran over and you had no
- 7:17Speaker 2: answers for Texas A and M.
- 7:18Speaker 3: For the second you got around sixty six to thirteen
- 7:22Speaker 3: the last outside of the last drive, you had fourteen
- 7:25Speaker 3: yards of offense like that. That's that's why, like that
- 7:29Speaker 3: was to a point of no return.
- 7:30Speaker 7: Harlan Barry averages seven yards of carry in the first
- 7:32Speaker 7: seven gets one carry in the second half. Yeah, those
- 7:34Speaker 7: are egregious things. Those are egregious things. Those are fireble
- 7:37Speaker 7: offenses got fired.
- 7:38Speaker 6: LSU hasn't looked tough in years, Like the last couple
- 7:41Speaker 6: of years, they haven't looked tough. You know, I go
- 7:44Speaker 6: back to and this is coaching and scheme and everything,
- 7:46Speaker 6: but what last year's on the line had four guys drafted. Yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 6: I don't think we ran the ball good at all
- 7:50Speaker 6: last year year before, I mean the whole Brian Aery
- 7:53Speaker 6: Brian Kelly era. We were not tough upfront. I mean
- 7:56Speaker 6: we had good guys, which.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Was the thing that was most surprising.
- 7:59Speaker 6: But if you go back, the only time we were
- 8:00Speaker 6: good was when Jayden Daniels was scrambling. Yeah for sure,
- 8:03Speaker 6: where the entire run game in the Brian Kelly air
- 8:05Speaker 6: was Outside of that, we don't have a running back
- 8:06Speaker 6: that went over a thousand.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Yeah, well, let's be honest. He came from Notre Dame.
- 8:11Speaker 7: Notre Dame is obviously not tough.
- 8:13Speaker 2: They stink, But you always like, I mean I say it.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Jokingly, but they've had offensive linemen and tight ends and
- 8:19Speaker 3: still do that he coached there that are still playing
- 8:21Speaker 3: at a high level, and so like you just assumed
- 8:24Speaker 3: that was going to be the thing that from the
- 8:26Speaker 3: get go, like if anything is short up, it's going
- 8:28Speaker 3: to be that, and it just never was.
- 8:30Speaker 6: Well, we excused a lot of things too because his
- 8:32Speaker 6: name Brian Kelly and that he was a wining his coach.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I mean, I've heard for four years that the dude
- 8:36Speaker 6: was not around in the evenings, Like he walked off
- 8:39Speaker 6: the practice field, went home. He left it up to
- 8:40Speaker 6: his coach to do everything, and we're like, oh, maybe
- 8:42Speaker 6: that's the way he did it. I mean, he's a
- 8:43Speaker 6: winning his active coach. I think there's a lot of
- 8:46Speaker 6: things we excused and just kind of made excuses for.
- 8:49Speaker 6: I'm like, Okay, well that's the way he does it.
- 8:51Speaker 6: But when it's all over, I'm like, thank god, because
- 8:53Speaker 6: I wanted to freaking scream every time.
- 8:55Speaker 3: So I you know, those aren't there's people here at
- 8:58Speaker 3: the station that they want to know that information, like
- 9:01Speaker 3: those are things like you didn't really I did never
- 9:03Speaker 3: seek that information to those things but now, like you're saying,
- 9:05Speaker 3: like you're starting to hear that, But I can tell
- 9:07Speaker 3: you from experience. Matt and I went to practice this
- 9:10Speaker 3: training camp and when they called it up, we were like,
- 9:14Speaker 3: what are they doing? It's like, no, practice over. We're like, wait,
- 9:16Speaker 3: what it's like a mid practice. We thought it was
- 9:18Speaker 3: like a mid practice, like hey we got to turn
- 9:20Speaker 3: the intensity up, Hey we got to finish strong.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And they're like, no, no, no, it's over. We're like,
- 9:24Speaker 2: the practice is over.
- 9:25Speaker 3: During training camp, I felt like we were out there
- 9:27Speaker 3: for what an hour and fifteen.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Minute maybe, and it's like individual periods and it was.
- 9:33Speaker 5: It was.
- 9:34Speaker 3: It was wild, and there were some old heads out
- 9:36Speaker 3: there that we were like, hey, this this is over,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and they're like.
- 9:38Speaker 6: You're not dragging bodies into the shower to cool them
- 9:41Speaker 6: down right now?
- 9:42Speaker 5: It was and of course you're always gonna have this.
- 9:44Speaker 6: You don't have twenty five people hook to an IV
- 9:46Speaker 6: right now, what's going on.
- 9:47Speaker 7: You're gonna have those poolback days of course, like rest
- 9:49Speaker 7: and recovery days. But we were asking around like this is
- 9:51Speaker 7: this like normal? And then they'd roll their eyes and
- 9:53Speaker 7: be like, yeah, pretty all.
- 9:57Speaker 5: I know the game's changed on those sports.
- 9:58Speaker 7: Change's right, Like, that's why we don't say that's that's
- 10:01Speaker 7: what I just assumed. It's not like alarming to us
- 10:03Speaker 7: at the time, went like we're like, okay, well the
- 10:05Speaker 7: game's changed. It looks more like an NFL practice.
- 10:07Speaker 5: I get that.
- 10:08Speaker 7: That's fineless to see what the product is in the film.
- 10:10Speaker 7: Maybe maybe maybe it's exactly what they need.
- 10:11Speaker 6: I mean, I go back to our toughest years. I
- 10:13Speaker 6: mean it's probably before seven. Do you remember when it
- 10:17Speaker 6: was six when Pliny and Jimbo got mad at each
- 10:20Speaker 6: other and we're running that scrimmage and then we were
- 10:23Speaker 6: like one hundred and eight placed scrimmage. Then we line
- 10:25Speaker 6: up and run freaking twenty something forties because they're getting
- 10:28Speaker 6: mad at each other, calling out different people.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean that that was the tough news, so
- 10:32Speaker 5: mad they had to apologize to men.
- 10:35Speaker 6: They're like, hey, guys, that's sorry, though, you know, without ourselves.
- 10:37Speaker 3: We're so damn greedy. Before you know any better, it
- 10:41Speaker 3: was front before you got here. This is back my
- 10:43Speaker 3: freshman year. Matt will remember this. I mean, we had
- 10:46Speaker 3: a practice. We were like in period eight and it
- 10:48Speaker 3: was training camp old school two days and we had
- 10:51Speaker 3: a break, and during the breaks we had like these
- 10:54Speaker 3: tents that had water and gatorade and fruit and whatever,
- 10:57Speaker 3: and Coach Saban was like, you'll need to hurry up
- 10:59Speaker 3: with the fruit. Hurry up with the fruit. Gard taking
- 11:01Speaker 3: too long, Like, y'all need to go ahead and get
- 11:03Speaker 3: out of here. We're ready to practice again. And everybody's
- 11:05Speaker 3: peeling their oranges and doing different things. He's like, all right,
- 11:07Speaker 3: blow the whistle, start it over, and we're like, oh,
- 11:10Speaker 3: start period eight over. He goes, no, no, no, the
- 11:12Speaker 3: whole fing thing and we had to go.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Back to the entrance, to the entrance of the of.
- 11:16Speaker 3: The field, run back on, start warm up again, dynamic
- 11:20Speaker 3: warm up, stretching, and we started the whole practice over
- 11:23Speaker 3: at period.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Eight training campus.
- 11:26Speaker 5: We never took our time with the fruit after that
- 11:29Speaker 5: went through it ques.
- 11:30Speaker 3: That was that was pre my high, when it was
- 11:32Speaker 3: a little bit harder to get hydrated.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Yeah, there's a lot of plumbs out there. That's when
- 11:35Speaker 7: cramping was just a part of life.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, do you have any apples I can
- 11:38Speaker 3: just bite into and don't have to peel?
- 11:41Speaker 5: Give you some salt pills and pickle juice?
- 11:43Speaker 7: Oh lord, So what do you think, Bud, what do
- 11:45Speaker 7: you think about the coaching search? Like who's kind of
- 11:48Speaker 7: got who's apple of your eye?
- 11:50Speaker 5: Right now?
- 11:50Speaker 6: Man, this is such a confusing one for me. It's
- 11:53Speaker 6: not my money, and I'm thinking about money, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 6: that's weird part.
- 11:57Speaker 5: I'm like, we're gonna do this'n fect me? But I
- 12:00Speaker 5: mean the governess said it would. Yeah, well okay.
- 12:05Speaker 6: I just don't understand, Like, Okay, you can go get
- 12:07Speaker 6: big names, but what is a big name when it
- 12:09Speaker 6: costs that's one hundred and thirty in my opinion, like
- 12:12Speaker 6: one hundred and thirty million. I mean, you're not getting
- 12:13Speaker 6: another guy for one hundred million ten year or whatever.
- 12:16Speaker 6: Those guys are gonna want thirteen for ten and so
- 12:18Speaker 6: do you go down that route? I just don't see.
- 12:22Speaker 6: It's a special person. There's not a lot of Nick
- 12:24Speaker 6: Sabans out there that you can come to work and
- 12:26Speaker 6: get up.
- 12:26Speaker 5: My alarm goes off the five.
- 12:27Speaker 6: I might hit snooze if the worst thing's gonna happen
- 12:29Speaker 6: to me, I get fifty four million dollars, Like, I
- 12:31Speaker 6: don't know how you motivate yourself. Great point, and I
- 12:34Speaker 6: just don't know, Like there's certain people that can do it,
- 12:36Speaker 6: and you can go vet that and determine that you
- 12:38Speaker 6: can give them the money and their work ath it
- 12:40Speaker 6: doesn't change J Johnson like a Jay Johnson. But I
- 12:43Speaker 6: just don't know how you go give somebody these guaranteed
- 12:45Speaker 6: contracts and they're gonna get up and bust their ass
- 12:47Speaker 6: every day to.
- 12:48Speaker 7: Be the best they can be guaranteed contracts for somebody
- 12:50Speaker 7: who's never step foot on this campus other than like
- 12:52Speaker 7: playing against LSU, probably are coaching against them. So they
- 12:55Speaker 7: take for Texas A and M for example, like Mike Elka,
- 12:58Speaker 7: I think he if they continue on their path, he
- 13:00Speaker 7: will deserve to get a contract extension there because he's
- 13:02Speaker 7: done it. They know the man he like, they understand
- 13:05Speaker 7: the work they've put in the work and they and
- 13:07Speaker 7: then probably you would trust them to vet it, like
- 13:09Speaker 7: we believe that if we give this to him, he's
- 13:11Speaker 7: not going to change.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:13Speaker 7: But for a man that's never stepped foot on a
- 13:15Speaker 7: campus wearing the LSU logo anywhere on their body, like,
- 13:19Speaker 7: it's hard to give somebody that kind of guarantee to
- 13:23Speaker 7: make him earn it and then extend them like there
- 13:25Speaker 7: has to be in like there's like a players I mean,
- 13:27Speaker 7: I mean, it's just like a player. It's just like
- 13:29Speaker 7: anything in life, like you want to you want to
- 13:30Speaker 7: strive for. There's a goal you have in mind to
- 13:33Speaker 7: be successful. And if you just get that goal on
- 13:35Speaker 7: the front end, like okay, work for it, prove yourself,
- 13:38Speaker 7: and then we'll sign you to that goal. Of course,
- 13:40Speaker 7: compensate him. You got to compensate blah blah blah. But
- 13:43Speaker 7: like a guaranteed one hundred million dollars for somebody that's
- 13:47Speaker 7: never put on those three letters, yeah, is a hard
- 13:51Speaker 7: one for people to swallow.
- 13:53Speaker 5: It is.
- 13:54Speaker 6: And for me, like I know we're gonna get into
- 13:56Speaker 6: the whole money and everything, but this whole era of football.
- 13:59Speaker 6: You give ahigh schoolkid a million dollars, does he understand
- 14:03Speaker 6: what it takes to get there? Like when I was
- 14:05Speaker 6: in high school, I remember coming up to the campus
- 14:07Speaker 6: two weeks early to work out with the team, just
- 14:08Speaker 6: because I wanted to know what it's going to be.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Like Like I was running every night and just you know,
- 14:12Speaker 6: not sleeping. I was nervous as kind of grind the
- 14:14Speaker 6: whole time. And now you got kids that are getting
- 14:16Speaker 6: a million dollars out of high school. How many five
- 14:18Speaker 6: star guys I signed with or played with that never
- 14:20Speaker 6: touched the field. Oh yeah, those are the guys get
- 14:22Speaker 6: a million dollars stuff.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so more than didn't.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Felt like when I think about that, I'm like, Okay,
- 14:28Speaker 6: this five star guy, things haven't changed in recruiting because
- 14:31Speaker 6: he's five stars, he's getting a million dollars and that
- 14:33Speaker 6: guy I never touched the field.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's as the times that we're in and man.
- 14:39Speaker 2: You see it.
- 14:40Speaker 3: You see it across the country, and you see it
- 14:42Speaker 3: across you know, every gosh.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Every conference, every major team.
- 14:47Speaker 3: It feels like and we talk about it from players,
- 14:49Speaker 3: but that's right.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That's a great point about coaches.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Like if you know you got fifty four million dollars,
- 14:55Speaker 3: hit snooze or you might go home a little bit
- 14:57Speaker 3: early unless And that's why you got to find the guy.
- 14:59Speaker 3: It's why you gotta find your Brent Key who I
- 15:02Speaker 3: said this, and you would love him.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I mean, he is like your kind of guy.
- 15:05Speaker 3: The guy always looks like he's ready to fight, Like
- 15:08Speaker 3: even in a good situation, he looks like he's looking
- 15:10Speaker 3: around like looking to fight somebody. That that's a guy
- 15:13Speaker 3: that doesn't look us. I want to be with exactly.
- 15:15Speaker 3: He didn't know what a snooze button is.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Like, okay, so and this is a little bit crazier,
- 15:19Speaker 6: but did you hear about any fights in Campushire? Like no, No,
- 15:24Speaker 6: we gotta fight every day, the offensive line, defensive line.
- 15:28Speaker 7: We loved each other off the field. Everybody's hugs. Yeah,
- 15:31Speaker 7: I threw punches every day. I mean, you wanna hear
- 15:33Speaker 7: something funny. They had the the young guys go little
- 15:36Speaker 7: Tiger Bowl. Frank's first practice they had. They brought the
- 15:40Speaker 7: young guys go back her. There's a little bit of
- 15:41Speaker 7: a fight than you.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Let's go because there was a little bit of a scrum.
- 15:47Speaker 5: You gotta have that.
- 15:48Speaker 6: I mean, there's a little bit of bad boy you
- 15:51Speaker 6: have to be to be a guy that I want
- 15:53Speaker 6: in the trenches with me. Most of the guys that
- 15:55Speaker 6: play with me, i've seen them fight. But that's the
- 15:58Speaker 6: character that they had. And we were not gonna let
- 16:00Speaker 6: anybody beat us up the amount of time less and
- 16:02Speaker 6: us might get destroyed. And everybody's like, oh, it's okay, buddy,
- 16:05Speaker 6: we're just gonna pick.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Like to me, if somebody hit I would have shoved somebody.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Somebody hitting us like they're hitting him right now, like
- 16:13Speaker 3: we're fighting every time. I sadn't that guy doing that
- 16:16Speaker 3: little dance for Texas A and M I'm getting fifteen yards?
- 16:19Speaker 5: We said in pregame, I forget which game.
- 16:21Speaker 3: If he'd hit this big dope that like that, like
- 16:23Speaker 3: I'm fighting.
- 16:24Speaker 6: I told us what I told Charlie. I said, look,
- 16:26Speaker 6: I would have gone down. We need a couple of
- 16:28Speaker 6: personal files, like I don't see the edginess of these
- 16:31Speaker 6: guys like allowing office around.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yes, like you see a monster Delaine out there talking
- 16:36Speaker 3: his talk and then walking the walk too, like we
- 16:38Speaker 3: need we need that from more people.
- 16:40Speaker 6: And that's probably the most frustrating thing to mean about
- 16:42Speaker 6: this culture. The guys who are playing like dogs and
- 16:45Speaker 6: the guys that remind me of LSU Tigers were not
- 16:47Speaker 6: here last year.
- 16:48Speaker 3: What did I when I we talked to the team yesterday,
- 16:50Speaker 3: what did I? Who do I call out? Aj Hawsey,
- 16:53Speaker 3: Marcus Cooley.
- 16:54Speaker 5: And Monster de Lane?
- 16:55Speaker 2: I said, how long y'all been here?
- 16:57Speaker 5: Three months? I was like a couple of months?
- 16:59Speaker 2: They said, come.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, well y'all are the dogs. Y'all fight
- 17:03Speaker 3: your ass off every single play. And I said it
- 17:05Speaker 3: as a statement to You don't have to be from Louisiana.
- 17:09Speaker 3: You don't have to be here four years. They've been
- 17:11Speaker 3: here four months, and they got the right dog in them.
- 17:14Speaker 6: There's a mentality. And I just think that you know,
- 17:16Speaker 6: wherever they came from, wherever they were, they were still
- 17:19Speaker 6: playing with that edge, practicing with that edge, preparing with
- 17:21Speaker 6: that edge, and they brought it here with guys that you.
- 17:24Speaker 7: Got to be put in position to kick somebody's ass too,
- 17:27Speaker 7: Like when the offensive lineman when they're not asked to
- 17:30Speaker 7: traditionally run block, like what what foot do you have.
- 17:34Speaker 5: To stand on? To talk trash?
- 17:36Speaker 7: And then have that alpha mentality when they have to
- 17:39Speaker 7: zone block in a pass set, like what are you
- 17:43Speaker 7: going to do? You're hand fighting people the whole time,
- 17:45Speaker 7: you're belly bumping people, So you like get rid of that.
- 17:49Speaker 5: Like we we.
- 17:50Speaker 7: Did some really good things in the run game against
- 17:52Speaker 7: ad M in the first half, really good things. We
- 17:54Speaker 7: kick some ass in that thing, okay, And so they
- 17:57Speaker 7: have to get back to that to give those.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Guys some confidence.
- 17:59Speaker 7: Man, I see an offense right now playing with no
- 18:02Speaker 7: confidence because the play call has been awful, the game
- 18:04Speaker 7: plan has been awful. Well, we're past that now. Okay,
- 18:07Speaker 7: we got rid of that. Okay, so fix it. Do
- 18:10Speaker 7: what you did successfully in the first half of the
- 18:12Speaker 7: A and M game, nusmier play with confidence, call some
- 18:15Speaker 7: normal pass play, call some normal condumnut I got. I
- 18:19Speaker 7: got one hundred high schools out here in Louisiana right
- 18:23Speaker 7: now that are running pass plays that attack the middle
- 18:25Speaker 7: of the field and stretch.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Zones out in the middle of the field. Do that.
- 18:29Speaker 7: Let your offense gain some confidence and then you can
- 18:32Speaker 7: try Maybe they got that way, maybe they got that
- 18:34Speaker 7: dogg inning, they just haven't been able to let it out.
- 18:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean get to different levels of the field.
- 18:39Speaker 6: I mean, for me, what do y'all break down the film?
- 18:41Speaker 6: I watched the film on Sundays and it is so frustrated.
- 18:44Speaker 6: Usually about every Saturday night, I'm very mad, and then
- 18:49Speaker 6: like I haven't felt good to win this year, Like.
- 18:51Speaker 7: That's why we say that all the time. It's been
- 18:53Speaker 7: no fun to watch that you.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Don't feel good to win. And I have to call
- 18:56Speaker 6: Max because I got about an hour before I get
- 18:57Speaker 6: on that, and I complain, we just all off before
- 19:02Speaker 6: I get on air and drop a few f bombs
- 19:04Speaker 6: or something. So I got to get it out of
- 19:05Speaker 6: my system.
- 19:06Speaker 5: But it did. You know.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I try to tell people all the time, this doesn't
- 19:10Speaker 6: leave you. I haven't played fellow seasons two thousand and nine,
- 19:13Speaker 6: and I get just as mad, just as frustrated. I
- 19:15Speaker 6: care just as much as did when I was playing.
- 19:17Speaker 3: No doubt, no question about it. And that's what it
- 19:19Speaker 3: should be. And that's what the person that is here
- 19:22Speaker 3: needs to have, even if they didn't play here, coach here,
- 19:25Speaker 3: work here, you know, grew up like I don't care.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Just have that, just have that right. I had it
- 19:32Speaker 3: for the Chargers when I got there. Matt had it
- 19:34Speaker 3: for the Packers. You had it for the Lions, because
- 19:36Speaker 3: that's who we are, that's what we're going to be.
- 19:38Speaker 3: That was our team, that was our teammates, and that's
- 19:40Speaker 3: what the goal was was to be there and to
- 19:42Speaker 3: be the best we could and be the best teammate
- 19:44Speaker 3: and work our ass off every single day.
- 19:47Speaker 2: And that's everybody.
- 19:48Speaker 3: I'm not talking to the players, talking to the coaches,
- 19:51Speaker 3: support staff, everybody in that building.
- 19:53Speaker 5: We saw that yesterday.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Would love to see you as a little too early
- 19:57Speaker 2: for you there, bud.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Well, No, Alex was going up. I had to take
- 20:00Speaker 6: the kids to school. I was supposed to be there, but.
- 20:03Speaker 7: I think we're gonna do it every I think the
- 20:04Speaker 7: Franklins to do it every Thursday, Thursday. I think the
- 20:07Speaker 7: afternoons though afternoons, okay, yeah, because back.
- 20:09Speaker 2: After practice, well it was bye week.
- 20:11Speaker 5: Okay, that's by.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Week, their afternoon practice.
- 20:13Speaker 5: I just did a lot of complaining. Y'all sound real
- 20:14Speaker 5: spoiled right now.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Don't don't do not get me started on the spoils.
- 20:18Speaker 5: They're so spoiled.
- 20:20Speaker 6: The first Like when y'all first started doing morning show,
- 20:23Speaker 6: how often was Matt late because he said he couldn't
- 20:25Speaker 6: get out of bed.
- 20:26Speaker 2: And that was never late.
- 20:28Speaker 5: No, oh, coming man, Oh the old man. He's a
- 20:31Speaker 5: grown up. But like the don't a lot. I remember
- 20:37Speaker 5: us sitting there one.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Day he came on at eight.
- 20:39Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I remember sitting here.
- 20:40Speaker 6: He's like, my New Year's resolution is to have my
- 20:43Speaker 6: feet off the bed by seven thirty.
- 20:44Speaker 5: Yeah, no, it was before seven feet on the floor.

- 22:58Speaker 7: When they call it that, I like, that's a good name.
- 23:02Speaker 7: It's actually really good.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Terrible Yeah, yeah, they say, can you take it every day? Absolutely?
- 23:07Speaker 5: It's a food. It is a food.

- 23:27Speaker 3: the game.

- 23:35Speaker 5: To Hey, thanks for this card. Check this out. That's
- 23:40Speaker 5: so sweet. Jake gave me this card today.
- 23:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 23:42Speaker 6: So I was looking at the shot and it's so crazy.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Just that, right, the guy that you know, I fell
- 23:47Speaker 6: in love with football watching with.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Troygman, and then he grew up in Dallas, That's right.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 6: And then so now I'm like, I think about quarterback
- 23:54Speaker 6: stats and what I think is good.
- 23:55Speaker 5: I go back and watch our games.
- 23:56Speaker 6: I'm like, Matt was seventeen for twenty two or one
- 23:59Speaker 6: hundred and seventy yards, two touchdowns, healthy game. Yeah, And
- 24:03Speaker 6: I'm like, oh, you didn't even throw for three hundred
- 24:06Speaker 6: fifty passing.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Nice.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Yeah, he's gout had a damn near one to one
- 24:12Speaker 6: touchdown interception ratio. Yeah, it's sixty one percent completion rating.
- 24:16Speaker 2: But sixty one back there was probably actually pretty high.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 6: Now, career one sixty five touchdowns, one forty one interceptions,
- 24:21Speaker 6: and he was the greatest quarterback.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Of all time.
- 24:23Speaker 7: Right anyways, career seventy seventy eight concussions.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Anyway, thanks for this. I deal.
- 24:31Speaker 7: I love my nineties Cowboys and my nineties Rangers.
- 24:35Speaker 6: Hours that cards are coming back because I was a
- 24:39Speaker 6: childhood deal. Like I had binders, yeah right, and I
- 24:42Speaker 6: used to have like labeled by you know, teams and
- 24:44Speaker 6: sports and everything. And now my son's like, deck, can
- 24:46Speaker 6: you give me some baseball cards. I'm like, let's go
- 24:48Speaker 6: get five of the money. Also, me and me and
- 24:51Speaker 6: me and Matt might dabble.
- 24:52Speaker 5: We dabble, we dabble a little bit. Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 6: Anyway, you're also trying to turn the profit on the
- 24:58Speaker 6: sports cards.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Yeah, we are.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I haven't doing good, been good.
- 25:03Speaker 5: That's not gambling, it's investing. Investing.
- 25:05Speaker 2: That's sure. You actually do get something back, You do.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Get something where you don't don't lose it all you're gambling.
- 25:10Speaker 6: Well, my son doesn't because they're all thrown underneath his ball.
- 25:15Speaker 5: That's true. Oh lord, he likes the baseball.
- 25:17Speaker 6: He likes the baseball. He likes anything, like he likes
- 25:21Speaker 6: the Lions, like I love. I'm in texting Calvin and
- 25:24Speaker 6: I'm like my son's team. We played flag with the
- 25:26Speaker 6: Lions and he loves being involved with that. So when
- 25:29Speaker 6: I show him somebody on TV that you know that
- 25:31Speaker 6: I'm talking to, Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 7: For sure, that's what I like. We my son pulled
- 25:36Speaker 7: like Aaron Rodgers card I took it.
- 25:37Speaker 5: I was like, hey, take a picture of it. I
- 25:39Speaker 5: said it to him and air sits back or a
- 25:41Speaker 5: response or something. That's it. He's like, what.
- 25:45Speaker 7: Wait, you didn't get my good side all right?
- 25:52Speaker 2: Before we let you go, we got to.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Get like your list of of who you want to see.
- 25:59Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be in the job, just getting
- 26:02Speaker 3: I know, give me like three names that if you said, okay,
- 26:05Speaker 3: these three guys, I want them in front of that
- 26:07Speaker 3: committee that we just heard that is, you know, whether
- 26:10Speaker 3: five members five member committee that they have, and I
- 26:13Speaker 3: want these three names to be at least, you know,
- 26:15Speaker 3: having a conversation with them and then they can choose
- 26:17Speaker 3: the best one.
- 26:19Speaker 6: So if you're gonna go pull out the check book
- 26:21Speaker 6: and do all the things that we talked about, they're
- 26:23Speaker 6: not going to do. It's a Lane type deal. I mean,
- 26:27Speaker 6: I like Lane, I like his personality, like the way
- 26:29Speaker 6: he runs the offense. I don't think that's very likely.
- 26:32Speaker 6: It could be. I know that he's a big name
- 26:34Speaker 6: out there. I can't give you three it's Kelvin after that.
- 26:36Speaker 6: I mean, I know he's young, only been coaching five years,
- 26:40Speaker 6: but I know that he's a football genius. Like I've
- 26:42Speaker 6: been in the film room with him, like I've watched
- 26:44Speaker 6: him on the field. I've watch him command of defense.
- 26:46Speaker 6: I used to have to argue with him and fight
- 26:48Speaker 6: him at practice because we couldn't run plays in practice
- 26:50Speaker 6: because he would tell the whole defense what we're about
- 26:52Speaker 6: to do. Yeah, he was that type of player that
- 26:54Speaker 6: he's calling of. Hey, they're running to the right, they're
- 26:55Speaker 6: doing this, it's going to be a stretch. Like he
- 26:57Speaker 6: just knows football. And I think in this day and age,
- 27:01Speaker 6: young youthful guys who understand the game, understand the tradition,
- 27:05Speaker 6: have the passion for it, or not as far away
- 27:08Speaker 6: from these you know, these football gods that we've looked
- 27:11Speaker 6: at over you know, over the lives.
- 27:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean you see it. You've seen it at
- 27:15Speaker 7: at all levels. The young coach Sean McVay. But I
- 27:18Speaker 7: was thirty years old when he took the job with
- 27:21Speaker 7: the Rams. I mean you've seen it, you see it all.
- 27:23Speaker 7: How old is dying him?
- 27:24Speaker 5: They can't be.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Kenny's thirty four to thirty five, I believe.
- 27:27Speaker 6: Yeah, the Arizona State coach is thirty five. And the
- 27:32Speaker 6: other name people throw out is you know Joe Brady,
- 27:35Speaker 6: which you know, I like what Joe did in twenty nineteen,
- 27:37Speaker 6: but people forget he parlayed that into a job Carolina
- 27:39Speaker 6: Panthers and got fired. Like when he's been great, he
- 27:41Speaker 6: had Joe Burrow and Josh Allen.
- 27:43Speaker 7: If you're reaching up to NFL coordinator, Kelvin's the answer.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Certainly because Joe Brady's not been a head coach.
- 27:50Speaker 5: Yeah right, I.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Think Kelvin has done more with less in the NFL,
- 27:53Speaker 6: whereas you know Joe Brady has. You know, he's charge
- 27:56Speaker 6: of an offense with once in a lifetime quarterback.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 7: I gat walked in or Elses this morning at six
- 28:02Speaker 7: thirty five, six forty, and I wasn't one hundred percent
- 28:05Speaker 7: sure about is Kelvin us. I had answered, I'm gonna
- 28:07Speaker 7: leave here a little bit more confident that Kelvin could
- 28:09Speaker 7: be a guy that needs to be strongly considered. And
- 28:12Speaker 7: I don't know if he's the right answer or not,
- 28:13Speaker 7: but he certainly needs that. You had to have a
- 28:15Speaker 7: conversation with him. I mean, I don't know who the
- 28:18Speaker 7: right answer. I'm just let me make that perfectly clear.
- 28:20Speaker 7: The lame thing doesn't like excite me.
- 28:22Speaker 6: Yeah, but like when you're talking about going and getting
- 28:25Speaker 6: somebody that's you know, the only one, and like I'm
- 28:28Speaker 6: not in that book. I've known Kelvin since I was
- 28:30Speaker 6: seventeen years old. I know the type of duty is.
- 28:32Speaker 6: I know how he works, and to me, it's all
- 28:34Speaker 6: about you know, come here with wherever. You know the expectations,
- 28:38Speaker 6: you know the passion, you know that you know. I
- 28:42Speaker 6: could see Kelvin not leaving that room, not leaving that
- 28:45Speaker 6: building until he gets things right.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you, I'm with you. I mean, he's
- 28:50Speaker 3: certainly a name that I would have a conversation with.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I love Kelvin, and uh, that's you need, like whatever
- 28:55Speaker 3: whatever that coach is, that's what you need. You need
- 28:58Speaker 3: a guy that's gonna lock himself in the building until
- 29:00Speaker 3: it's right, and then when it's right, he doesn't change
- 29:02Speaker 3: his ways. He just continues to work at brin Key.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Like you got Georgia Tech. All we talked about I got.
- 29:08Speaker 3: I got a best friend that's on that staff.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 29:09Speaker 3: He called me the end of the night, like at
- 29:11Speaker 3: eight thirty to get an update on what's going He's like,
- 29:13Speaker 3: what's going on down there?
- 29:14Speaker 2: You know, one of those deals.
- 29:15Speaker 3: And it was eight thirty at night, and I'm like,
- 29:17Speaker 3: I'm you know, watching football, watching my son.
- 29:19Speaker 5: What's up.
- 29:19Speaker 3: He goes, Oh, we just took a break, so we
- 29:21Speaker 3: mean to He's like, yeah, we just took a break
- 29:22Speaker 3: from third downs.
- 29:23Speaker 2: We're going to red zone here in a little bit.
- 29:24Speaker 2: There's eight thirty at night.
- 29:25Speaker 5: There's nothing. Well, let me think about it. You know.
- 29:28Speaker 6: You know, I remember coming home, you know, we all
- 29:30Speaker 6: used to live over there down right side, and we
- 29:34Speaker 6: go to a bar, go to walk ons and not
- 29:36Speaker 6: super late, but like go have beers and headed home
- 29:38Speaker 6: at eleven o'clock and you had to drive past the
- 29:40Speaker 6: stadium and you saw all the coaches there, Yeah, which
- 29:42Speaker 6: you garnered respect for that. Like we're out here, like
- 29:45Speaker 6: we put into work in the day, rest of our butts.
- 29:47Speaker 6: We went to go have a few beers and I
- 29:49Speaker 6: remember it, you know, Pauline Miles Henson, all the coaches
- 29:54Speaker 6: were still there at eleven o'clock at night. So when
- 29:55Speaker 6: I got up in the morning, I didn't feel bad
- 29:58Speaker 6: that I'm tired and had to get up like these
- 30:00Speaker 6: This guy's been freaking refushing butt till goodnight.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yeah, no question about it.
- 30:04Speaker 5: All right.
- 30:04Speaker 2: We gotta let Dig Dixon go. He's got to get
- 30:06Speaker 2: all the way to Rafinos to get the show.
- 30:08Speaker 7: Do you have a do you have a line pick?
- 30:10Speaker 7: You want to be part of the Ponting parlay this weekend?
- 30:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you got to pick on her schedule. How about
- 30:15Speaker 5: you do this?
- 30:15Speaker 3: How about you look at it while you're parked not
- 30:17Speaker 3: driving wink Win and you give us a pick and
- 30:20Speaker 3: you just text it to us. You can wait, but
- 30:21Speaker 3: all right, we'll have as a guest figure. All right,
- 30:24Speaker 3: we appreciate it. We will step away more OTB when
- 30:27Speaker 3: we come back here live from Rouses on burbankon.

- 31:18Speaker 5: to seven Emergency service two two five nine two five

- 31:24Speaker 4: Tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Hello, Hi, oh hey, what's going on?
- 31:51Speaker 5: Look at us?
- 31:52Speaker 3: Look at us?
- 31:54Speaker 7: Tick Dixon for stopping back. Yeah, that was fun, my
- 31:57Speaker 7: little blast from the past, old hanging with yesterday's.
- 32:00Speaker 5: It was.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Enjoyed that man.
- 32:02Speaker 3: And as you know, dig Dixon is going to be
- 32:05Speaker 3: as real as they come up. And you could tell
- 32:08Speaker 3: he had a passion for Kelvin being you know, I mean,
- 32:11Speaker 3: I would be given an opportunity, I.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Would be very in favor of that.
- 32:17Speaker 7: I'm not saying that he's the perfect and the right
- 32:19Speaker 7: or my first or whatever. I don't have a first,
- 32:21Speaker 7: I don't have a second, third, I don't have a last.
- 32:23Speaker 7: But I'm willing to hear arguments and I'm willing to
- 32:27Speaker 7: hear the passion for whoever it is. I can tell
- 32:30Speaker 7: you what I don't want. You can put it. You
- 32:33Speaker 7: can put your finger on it when you see it.
- 32:35Speaker 7: It's hard to explain, but you can.
- 32:36Speaker 5: You can, you can. You can decide what you don't want.
- 32:38Speaker 5: That Kelvin would check a lot, a lot, a lot
- 32:42Speaker 5: a lot of boxes.
- 32:43Speaker 3: And that that's my whole point in trying to nominate myself.
- 32:48Speaker 5: Are you.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I don't care which one of us.
- 32:50Speaker 5: You should be.
- 32:50Speaker 7: You should definitely, because you do talk like you have
- 32:52Speaker 7: a relationship with all the coaches around the country because
- 32:56Speaker 7: of your show, because of your platform, because you get
- 32:57Speaker 7: to talk with them and you get to see them
- 32:59Speaker 7: in casual environment. Yeah, like a lot of a lot
- 33:03Speaker 7: of shows. It's just like, you know, here's your question
- 33:05Speaker 7: to your answer, and these are going to get your
- 33:07Speaker 7: stock answers, but you get to see them in a
- 33:09Speaker 7: much more casual environment.
- 33:10Speaker 5: So you get to see a different side of these coaches.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see them at the hotel bar.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 3: So I just think you need a football current football
- 33:19Speaker 3: mind in there because of what Matt just said. I
- 33:24Speaker 3: always say in five minutes, I can tell you it
- 33:26Speaker 3: might be two minutes and two minutes I can read
- 33:28Speaker 3: through the BS. Right, how much of this is like authentic?
- 33:33Speaker 3: Authenticity should be like one A or one B on
- 33:38Speaker 3: what you're looking for in this next coaching.
- 33:40Speaker 5: Hire both one A and B, Yeah, and two?
- 33:43Speaker 3: And how authentic are you about this job? About what
- 33:46Speaker 3: it takes to be successful here? Are you going to
- 33:48Speaker 3: do what it takes to be successful here? And when
- 33:51Speaker 3: you speak, can I believe you? Can I trust you?
- 33:54Speaker 3: Or are you just giving me big words? How many
- 33:56Speaker 3: people do you know that are in this profession that
- 33:59Speaker 3: just give you big and just patch you on the head.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Right, that's never gonna be this show, I can.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Tell you that.
- 34:04Speaker 2: But that's what it's like.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Oh, they give you big words, they pat you on
- 34:07Speaker 3: the head and like make you feel like you're lesser
- 34:10Speaker 3: than because of it, right, And some of that is
- 34:15Speaker 3: what the feel was at least I think for a
- 34:17Speaker 3: lot of people.
- 34:18Speaker 5: And they don't want that.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Again, they don't want that.
- 34:20Speaker 3: They want somebody that they know from the moment that
- 34:23Speaker 3: they speak, that's our guy, that's our coach, and he's
- 34:26Speaker 3: doing even if it's not successful, he's doing literally everything
- 34:31Speaker 3: this man can possibly do to be successful because it's
- 34:35Speaker 3: his thing, it's what he cares about most. And then
- 34:38Speaker 3: you can tell that within two minutes if somebody's saying
- 34:41Speaker 3: that they do all that, you can tell if it's
- 34:43Speaker 3: authentic or not.
- 34:44Speaker 7: Yep, And you can and if you can't tell, and
- 34:47Speaker 7: it sounds good, there's your answer, there's your answer. We
- 34:51Speaker 7: just I think that we just went through that right Yep. Again,
- 34:56Speaker 7: everything sounded great, everything on the words was there. There's
- 35:00Speaker 7: us a disconnect And I said it yesterday. The opinion
- 35:04Speaker 7: of Brian Kelly throughout his tenure when you ask people, hey,
- 35:08Speaker 7: what do you think of Brian Kelly? When people ask
- 35:10Speaker 7: me what do you think of Brian Kelly, it is
- 35:12Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 35:14Speaker 5: I think good. I think good. We will see.
- 35:17Speaker 7: That was the majority of the answer that was ever
- 35:20Speaker 7: uttered when somebody was asked, what do you think of
- 35:22Speaker 7: Brian Kelly? I think a lot of buying, a lot
- 35:24Speaker 7: of want to, a lot of yep. The credentials there,
- 35:27Speaker 7: got a great resume.
- 35:28Speaker 5: I just don't know. I got to see it. Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 5: I just never saw it.
- 35:33Speaker 6: Hm.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I never just never had like an extended conversation. It
- 35:39Speaker 3: was always very matter of fact, like professional conversation, move on,
- 35:44Speaker 3: you know, like even when with you know, you go
- 35:47Speaker 3: over there.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Blake Baker, it's like Blake's gonna wap you up and
- 35:50Speaker 2: talk ball.
- 35:51Speaker 5: You talk about life.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's a genuine conversation. There's a lot
- 35:55Speaker 3: of people in that building that are like that.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Yep, a lot.
- 35:57Speaker 7: Not to say that Brian Kelly didn't want to win
- 35:59Speaker 7: and b six asful. I'm sure he wanted to, but
- 36:02Speaker 7: there was a disconnect. But guess what, guess don't need to.
- 36:07Speaker 5: Waste of breath on it anymore.
- 36:10Speaker 7: We got verge on the Casey if you a just reminder,
- 36:15Speaker 7: if y'all want to see the whole press conference announcing
- 36:18Speaker 7: Verge as the interim athletic director for LSU, we played
- 36:23Speaker 7: it here on the show at the beginning of hour two.
- 36:25Speaker 7: It was a super long segment, obviously because we wanted
- 36:27Speaker 7: everybody to see.
- 36:28Speaker 5: So you can go back and check that out.
- 36:29Speaker 7: I was our number two for about twenty twenty five
- 36:31Speaker 7: minute press conference. Ish took a lot of good questions,
- 36:34Speaker 7: kind of state of the Union, of where we're at,
- 36:38Speaker 7: where we're going, and a lot of questions still remain,
- 36:41Speaker 7: a lot of uncertainties, and certainly change does bring that.
- 36:44Speaker 7: But I can tell you, Jake can tell you from
- 36:49Speaker 7: being over there at the facility yesterday, that Football Ops
- 36:52Speaker 7: building hasn't been closer than it is right now.
- 36:55Speaker 5: Yeah, in a while, I can't.
- 36:58Speaker 7: I can't tell you because we didn't have the access,
- 37:01Speaker 7: weren't there quite as much. But like what we saw
- 37:03Speaker 7: you from yesterday is a group of men women, they're
- 37:07Speaker 7: all pointed in the same direction and all ready to roll.
- 37:11Speaker 7: So I don't know if the result's going to be
- 37:12Speaker 7: on the field, but I got a feel and it's
- 37:14Speaker 7: going to be a lot more fun watching it all right.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I want to say you about Supreme Rice. You see
- 37:21Speaker 3: it right here in front of me, the old Jasmine special.
- 37:24Speaker 3: That's my favorite Supreme Rights. But they got long grain,
- 37:27Speaker 3: medium grain, so many different options. And you can go
- 37:30Speaker 3: supremeris dot com. You can also come to your local
- 37:33Speaker 3: rouses right now.
- 37:35Speaker 2: You know, we can walk out.
- 37:36Speaker 3: They're going to have every single type of Supreme Rice
- 37:39Speaker 3: here your local ag food stores as well.
- 37:41Speaker 2: But you can do it online.
- 37:43Speaker 3: And it looks it's gumbo weather, right, and every good
- 37:47Speaker 3: gumbo has the perfect rice. And that's exactly what Supreme
- 37:50Speaker 3: Rice is going to be. It is Louisiana through and
- 37:53Speaker 3: through Crowley, Louisiana. Man, you go to that town and
- 37:56Speaker 3: it is Supreme Rice everywhere because they care about Louisiana
- 37:59Speaker 3: and it is right here, Homegrownsupremerice dot Com. All right,
- 38:04Speaker 3: So we'll take a break when we come back little
- 38:06Speaker 3: Pontoon Parlay. We didn't have time for what's the ticket today,
- 38:10Speaker 3: but I'll tell you this. The lowest ticket in the
- 38:13Speaker 3: top twenty five Louisville at Virginia Tech seventeen six dollars
- 38:20Speaker 3: six dollars. Louisville at Virginia Tech six bucks get you
- 38:24Speaker 3: into the game.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Wow.
- 38:25Speaker 3: The highest ticket in the top twenty five this weekend
- 38:29Speaker 3: Oklahoma at Tennessee two hundred and fifty nine dollars. Okay,
- 38:35Speaker 3: that's a big stadium for two hundred and fifty nine dollars. Yeah,
- 38:38Speaker 3: so that's six figures right over one hundred thousand kneeling.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a lot of money. It's a lot of
- 38:44Speaker 2: doll hairs there.
- 38:44Speaker 7: Boll Yeah, that's Oklahoma going there to get one of
- 38:47Speaker 7: the most expensive. Most of the games at home have
- 38:49Speaker 7: been one of the cheapest for Oklahoma.
- 38:51Speaker 5: That's true.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Wild, it is true. That's a good point.
- 38:53Speaker 3: So yeah, highest ticket Oklahoma at Tennessee two hundred and
- 38:56Speaker 3: fifty nine dollars.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Six dollars. So that's that's like a third of a beer.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Six bucks.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And Louis was like good in Virginia Tech Stadium, Atmosphere
- 39:02Speaker 3: in Lane Stadium. It was rocking last week and they won. So,
- 39:05Speaker 3: I don't know, six bucks, six bucks gets you into
- 39:08Speaker 3: that game. Louis will certainly a team to pay attention to.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Jeff Braum. Maybe, I don't know.
- 39:14Speaker 3: We'll see, all right, we'll take a break, our last
- 39:16Speaker 3: break of the show. We'll wrap it up with a
- 39:18Speaker 3: little pontoon parlay here on.
- 39:20Speaker 2: OTV, off the bench.

- 39:52Speaker 7: thousand on the car and it's just that time of

- 40:52Speaker 3: to Studio A Landra and Tata with their pontoon parlay
- 40:57Speaker 3: picks for this week.
- 40:59Speaker 8: All right. So, but I know that I was on
- 41:02Speaker 8: a heater at first, but after we acknowledged the heater,
- 41:04Speaker 8: my last what like two or three picks haven't done
- 41:07Speaker 8: too well. So I feel like I just need a
- 41:09Speaker 8: little base hit here. Just put the ball in play.
- 41:11Speaker 8: And Vanderbilt has never failed me anytime that I have
- 41:15Speaker 8: bet on them. The line has moved from two and
- 41:18Speaker 8: a half what it was yesterday to three and a half.
- 41:20Speaker 8: So again, Texas, I don't know why they're the favorite,
- 41:23Speaker 8: I guess because they're at home, but they've got a
- 41:25Speaker 8: lot of people injured, Arch may not play, So I'm
- 41:28Speaker 8: gonna go Vanderbilt to cover minus three and a half
- 41:31Speaker 8: versus or plus three and a half versus Texas.
- 41:35Speaker 9: All right, you told is a really good team. Rice
- 41:37Speaker 9: Echles is such a hard place to play. But they
- 41:40Speaker 9: got Cincinnati coming in seven and one. Brendan Soresby looking
- 41:43Speaker 9: like one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Utah
- 41:46Speaker 9: very well could win this game. However, the Utes are
- 41:48Speaker 9: a ten and a half point favorite. Give me Cincinnati
- 41:51Speaker 9: plus ten and a half on the road against Utah.
- 41:57Speaker 2: All right, I like both of those picks.
- 42:00Speaker 7: You'd be looking like one of the best quarterbacks.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Like that, Alander.
- 42:05Speaker 7: Great pick, by the way, I mean, yeah, that's a
- 42:06Speaker 7: very pick.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Does I just don't I don't understand it.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Definitely. I hustling that one myself. Great job, great picks.
- 42:12Speaker 3: I like both those picks. All right, Matthew, I'm going
- 42:17Speaker 3: to head up to Knoxville. Knoxville, I'm gonna go to
- 42:20Speaker 3: the big SEC game of the week. We got Tennessee
- 42:22Speaker 3: hosting the Oklahoma Centers. I'm taking Tennessee minus two and
- 42:25Speaker 3: a half. I think at home that crowd, I think
- 42:27Speaker 3: it's going to be an electric situation. Oklahoma, I think
- 42:30Speaker 3: you've been fools gold for a little bit. You gotta
- 42:32Speaker 3: really good defense, all right, you got a good defense,
- 42:34Speaker 3: I get it. I just think they've been a little
- 42:35Speaker 3: bit of fools gold this season.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Would you would you get that at what number?
- 42:40Speaker 5: Tennessee minus two and a half.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Tennessee minus shoes versus this soon? Okay, two hundred and
- 42:49Speaker 3: fifty nine dollars to get into that game. By the way,
- 42:51Speaker 3: just a reminder, HI is ticket in the top twenty
- 42:53Speaker 3: five this weekend?
- 42:55Speaker 2: All right, I'm going to go to a Pac.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Twelve game, come on, and so that means it's only
- 43:02Speaker 3: one set of teams that could be going against each
- 43:04Speaker 3: other because there's two teams, so classic matchup. I am
- 43:08Speaker 3: going to go Washington State Wazoo minus three against Oregon
- 43:14Speaker 3: State in the first of two matchups. Remember they play
- 43:18Speaker 3: each other twice, double round robin because they're the only
- 43:21Speaker 3: two teams in the Pac twelve. So they'll play this
- 43:24Speaker 3: week on the road, then they'll play the final game
- 43:27Speaker 3: of the year at Wazoo.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Which is just so funny to me.
- 43:30Speaker 3: College football so they're at home. They're on the road
- 43:33Speaker 3: this one. They're on the road this one. But Oregon
- 43:36Speaker 3: State is bad, bad. Oregon State has not won a
- 43:41Speaker 3: game in a long time. I think they have maybe
- 43:43Speaker 3: one win on the year, and was Zoo's actually been
- 43:45Speaker 3: playing pretty well, like Wazoo took Ole Miss to the wire,
- 43:48Speaker 3: they took Virginia to the wire. Those are two top
- 43:50Speaker 3: fifteen teams. They're four and four on the season, and
- 43:55Speaker 3: Oregon State's just a complete dumpster fire. I'm trying to look, No,
- 43:59Speaker 3: they don't have a power or no, they don't have
- 44:01Speaker 3: an FBS win. They have an FCS win against Lafayette,
- 44:04Speaker 3: not ull don't Lafayette.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Of the FCS. But that's that's it.
- 44:07Speaker 5: So they were zero for their first seven, but they
- 44:10Speaker 5: have scored.
- 44:10Speaker 7: At least twenty four points against the FS opponent.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Right that they did that, they did they did it again.
- 44:17Speaker 5: They're still looking to do that.
- 44:19Speaker 2: We got twenty five last week.
- 44:20Speaker 5: Yeah, take that back, that's late.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Correct that late touchdown that they had that was definitely meaningful.
- 44:30Speaker 2: All right, give us a rundown to the Pontoon parlay.
- 44:32Speaker 7: All right, we got Vandy plus three and a half
- 44:34Speaker 7: at Texas wildline there absolutely wild line Sincy plus ten
- 44:38Speaker 7: and a half at Utah, Tennessee minus two and a
- 44:40Speaker 7: half at home versus this Oklahoma Sooners Washington State traveling
- 44:46Speaker 7: to Oregon State minus three and a half. Wa was
- 44:47Speaker 7: Washington State minus three and a half.
- 44:50Speaker 5: There we go.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Ain't no guests, that's what it's going to be, all right,
- 44:56Speaker 7: there's no party bars today.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Look, let's fi let's put it together in text? Yes, quick,
- 45:02Speaker 3: all right, we could do quick, go ahead and go
- 45:03Speaker 3: ahead like you if you got it.
- 45:04Speaker 2: We got a minute, okay.
- 45:05Speaker 8: I was talking to Taylor about this earlier Saints to
- 45:09Speaker 8: cover versus the Rams. The lines pretty big.
- 45:11Speaker 3: It's fourteen and a half.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Taylor.
- 45:13Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm gonna take uh the forty nine Ers to
- 45:16Speaker 9: cover the two and a half. They're two and a
- 45:18Speaker 9: half point road favorite over the Giants, but they're getting
- 45:20Speaker 9: healthier and healthier. McCaffrey looks good. I'll take the forty
- 45:23Speaker 9: nine Ers covered two and a half. It's covered two.
- 45:25Speaker 5: And a half.
- 45:26Speaker 7: Matthew, all right, I'll take the Bears plus two and
- 45:28Speaker 7: a half versus Engles.
- 45:30Speaker 3: I'll take the Colts minus three and a half against
- 45:32Speaker 3: the Steelers.
- 45:32Speaker 7: There we going now boom. I don't remember what we said,
- 45:34Speaker 7: but we'll.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Figure it out. We'll put it out there. It will
- 45:37Speaker 2: be on social media at.
