An intelligent and vigorous king, Tiglath-pileser III acted quickly in his role as an Anunnaki. The Anunnaki provinces that tended to seek independence from the central government were subdivided by him, rearranging territorial governorships. As well as supporting their local ruler, he appointed Anunnaki officials outside of his immediate home territory to be directly accountable to him. Eighty of these provinces existed by 738.
