• 0:01
[upbeat music] Hey, everybody, Full Spectrum Cycling.
• 0:17
This is show 249, the show after the show. Ah, yes. Yeah, that was a big show. Tony just hipped me to the fact that something happened in the export- Yeah, we're- And it's all echoey in there... live in Pompeii.
• 0:29
[laughs] I think we can... I can fix that. I don't know what happened. I hope so. Some sort of, uh, weirdness. I had to take one for the team and listen to it, but it was like, "Oh, man."
• 0:37
Well, I did listen to the whole thing before it got exported, and then something happened. So, I don't know. All I know is that, uh, El Rongo sounded pretty good- Yes... on the, uh, on the- For sure...
• 0:46
on the video and all that. So- And- Thanks Jeff and Mars because those guys rule... extra thanks from keeping the volume down for the first set so Dan could sit there and be enthralled by Jeff's playing.
• 0:56
That was pretty funny. He didn't move. Music soothes the savage beast. It, it was amazing. It was amazing. He ran- Just, like, just had his head all cocked to the side. He's like, "Ah."
• 1:02
Yep, he ran non-stop until Jeff played his first riff, and he sat in that chair. Oh, yeah, he was all over the stage beforehand. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like [sings] He sat in that chair and didn't budge.
• 1:11
Did you see the spot where he hit the table and was like, "Bo-yo-yo-yo-yo-yoing"? That was pretty good, 'cause he came up and the camera was all like, "Do-do-do-do." [laughs] Great. It was good. Cool. Yes.
• 1:22
Uh, here we are in the, well, newly rearranged studio. I'm not even sure it's gonna stay this way, but we got JK. Hello. It's slimming this way. Is it? Okay. I don't know. Nice. Well, I, I need all you can get.
• 1:34
[laughs] Uh, Tony with the glasses over there. Yeah, I left my glasses somewhere. Look how cool he is. Uh, back in- So cool... back in the back 40, um, Hunter's sitting back there, uh, observing. And we got...
• 1:43
This is Brett right here. Brett's, uh- Hello, hello. Brett's got some stuff to talk about in a little bit. And, uh- A little bit... yeah. A little bit. I, I guess the idea is Hunter doesn't talk, and you do, right?
• 1:53
He's the muscle, man. Just coach. You're the muscle. He's the muscle. There we go. [laughs] There we go. [laughs] Point twice if you're safe. [laughs] Right? [laughs] I, I don't even know where to start today.
• 2:06
Well, I wanna... Uh, the picture that Tony sent, did you see that with the, uh, the Vanmoof? Yeah, yeah. What the hell? Okay. So I did- I did take a full look at it, too, and you're right.
• 2:14
That was- All the electronics are removed. Right. So it's- That's under the, the library- Yes... covering? Which I will have the picture in the show notes. But the deal is...
• 2:22
Which I'm gonna put a TV here so we could put that on there later. It's gonna be cool. Um, I think the place where the lock was going into it was the button that you use to push to make changes- Yeah...
• 2:32
to stuff or something. But- [laughs]... it is the goofiest thing in the world. [laughs] All right. [laughs] He has put an A-BUS lock through it. [laughs] And then you can clip it to the side. It's absolute...
• 2:44
I'm like, "Okay." All right. It's probably a pretty reasonably light bike as a single speed setup [laughs] with all the guts and the batteries removed. I was just like, how... Is that thing not gonna
• 2:56
have a issue at one point? Fold in, fold on itself at some point. And then I was- At first, I pulled up, I'm like, "Who would leave a Vanmoof locked out at UWM overnight?" 'Cause it was there yesterday when I left work.
• 3:07
And then I took a closer look at it. Stalker. I'm like, "Oh, this is awesome." [laughs] Well, yeah. So they... It had to be- Stalker... one of the people that got... They- [laughs] Aren't we all? They, yeah...
• 3:14
right, they got bricked. They got screwed. So they couldn't do anything. Yeah, exactly. And so if you... I was like, "How does the seat post go through there?" But it's got a hole in the back of it. Dear Liza.
• 3:25
It's weird. [laughs] But so they just took the whole... It's the guts of the, uh, the electronics part, not the battery. Right, right. Apparently the battery's in the down tube, I guess. Yeah. Whatever.
• 3:33
So I'm sure they yanked that out, too. But, you know, your McLaren folks bought the company, so maybe- Might come back... may- maybe they'll do something. They're like- Might come back.
• 3:40
I signed up for their thing to tell me when- [laughs]... they're gonna do something. Right. Oh, you're in the know. Could be like seven years. It says, uh, oh, by the way- Email notifications at all times...
• 3:50
you're, you... I forget what they called- Do you want the push ones? Oh, yes. They had a warranty or a, a service thing called, like, "We're super good guys, and you should love us," or something to that effect.
• 3:58
And McLaren's like, "To make the company sustainable, we will not be honoring those warranties." [laughs] Of course they won't. And like they missed a major,
• 4:08
you know, PR thing by saying, "Hey, I know you guys got fucked, but we're gonna take care of you." Right. How much money- We are McLaren... A- And we are super wealthy... how much money do they have? Right.
• 4:17
Billions of dollars? Maybe you could just suck it up and pay the whatever- Yeah... few millions that it's gonna cost you. The bigger PR you'd get. Right? They fucked up. Yeah. Yeah. Happens. It's big business. Yeah.
• 4:29
So I don't know. Can McLaren bring them back? I don't know. We'll find out when they email us, I guess. Um- If. Yeah. Right? Yeah. [laughs] So the... What'd you guys think of the, the party? Was it good?
• 4:42
I had a great time. Yeah. That was awesome. That was good. I especially had a great time if I looked at my, uh, amorphic bill again because, phew, it was a big one. Was it? Uh, mine wasn't. I had a lot.
• 4:53
Yeah, mine wasn't that big. My wife, like- It felt pretty good... she really found the... Oh, I... Yeah, she really liked the cider. That's all I'm gonna s- or the seltzer. Oh. Oh, you're paying for- The seltzer.
• 5:02
She liked that one? But I will, but I will, uh, I will take another comment about that offline- You were-... because it's just not appropriate for this right now... no, we're okay.
• 5:07
Well, no, buying for two is- I actually, I bought some Razz... more sticker shock than you're- I bought some Razz... I'm used to. I know. When you- I helped Damian out, and, oh, God, let's...
• 5:15
Sorry, I'm gonna digress forever 'cause Damian's food was so good. I mean, everybody's food was great. Yeah, yeah. But those damn arancinis. Oh, yeah. I... And they were little, tiny little suckers.
• 5:25
There was n- there were none left at the end. They were two bite. They were like the two bite- There were none left 'cause there-... uh, like a two bite brownie kind of thing... should not have been any left... you know.
• 5:31
Arancini. Like an aperitif. Yeah, it was just like- Fucking awesome. [laughs] It was like, it was like an Italian... As he would've called it, it was an Italian arancini, not a Sicilian arancini.
• 5:39
Oh, yeah, not the softball size- Right, right... like the Gran Risos. Yeah, yeah. All right. Which I really like, so. Yeah, they each have their place. And Damian's are good, too, at, at, you know- Yeah, at Scardina's...
• 5:47
at Scardina's. I, we get those quite a bit. Yeah. So that helped. Oh, fun. But yeah, so that was a really fun time. I kept trying to push money at Damian, and he kept saying, "Don't worry about it." I'm like, "Nice."
• 5:55
Okay. I did give him- We're gonna do something very nice for him. He wanted a Road Runner bag like you have, so I gave him a, a Road Runner hip pack.
• 6:04
Which, it certainly didn't cover the bill, but he's, you know- It's an appetizer. [laughs] He is such a good dude. Yeah. Yeah. So he, he took care of us for sure.
• 6:12
He had so much fun in the River West 24, it was hilarious. [laughs] First time doing it. Oh, geez, okay. Made me be his team captain. I'm like, "I'm solo now, dude." [laughs] He's like, "Well..." "No, come on.
• 6:21
Aren't you gonna do it again?" I remember running into you during the race at the beginning of that. And I'm like, "Okay, here you go." I totally think you're gonna be captain again.
• 6:28
I, I already, he's already asked me to be. Yeah. I'm like, "Well." You might as well. You know? [laughs] And just make sure that they know to stop at bonuses, 'cause- Yeah...
• 6:35
I think, I think Damian was kind of on board, but a couple of these other guys are just ripping laps. [laughs] Yeah. It's like, that's great. [laughs] You're going fast, but- That's why I've been so-... you gotta stop...
• 6:43
little fast. Yeah, you'll get a lot more points if you- Yeah... don't do that. Right? Man, you haven't been able to finish the River West in the top tier doing hot laps in a long time. Yeah, no. No.
• 6:52
No, that's been- It don't work like that no more... yeah, that's going 12, 14 years back. Not since like the Cutting Crew or those- Yeah... jackasses from Chicago. Right. Yep. [laughs] The guys from Minnesota.
• 7:00
There was all kinds of fun ones. Wherever they're from. Yeah, whatever. [laughs] You don't get a lot- But, uh-... of out of towners much anymore, do you?
• 7:05
Well- Oh, remember when the, um, what, the one year, uh, the guy came in after, like, moving, like, an apartment, like the contents of an entire apartment, and he's like, "Oh, yeah." And he, um, ugh, he was like Russian.
• 7:23
The Russian guy on your team. Oh, the air- Right?... the aerospace engineer? Yeah. [laughs] What was, on Tony's team? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. What was his name? Uh, skinny kid? Oh, Yuri. Yuri. My God.
• 7:34
[laughs] Yeah, Yuri Zubachev. That's Russian. You're right, Russian kid. I should have put that together right away. [laughs] Yeah, that's why- He now lives in Arizona in some big mansion.
• 7:41
Yeah, he worked for, like, astrophysics or somebody like that. [laughs] Yeah, he, he went to, he went to, yeah, aeronautics initially, and then he just goes- But yeah, the guy was just a crusher.
• 7:48
The funniest thing about him is- As soon as he got on, vroom... we built him that nice Soma Smoothie. He threw a bunch of carbon parts on it, 'cause he wanted to be cool, and now he drives a Harley.
• 7:57
[laughs] So he's lo- Yeah... I've lost all, I'm, Yuri, if you're listening- Isn't that the American dream, man?... sorry, dude. Yeah, you don't get to have a Harley and be a weight weenie at the same time.
• 8:04
Right, exactly. Sorry, dude. Don't work like that. Uh-uh. Carbon fiber Harley'd be kinda cool though. Okay. No Harley would be cool. That's pretty bad man right there. Carpet fiber.
• 8:11
No, carpet fi- [laughs] No, I don't- Harley... no. Well, it almost sounds like, uh. How did we digress into Harleys? Let's talk about the rock, the Rockabilly Chili Cookoff. Because of Yuri. 'Cause, uh, th- Yeah...
• 8:19
Russia, Russian- We gotta talk about, we gotta get that in... Russian infiltration of this-... and we gotta get this, this ride in-... freedom platform as well... this racing Alley Cat. For God sakes.
• 8:25
[laughs] We've only been doing this for, like, six minutes, so we got- Oh, really?... plenty of time. Oh, it seems like a lot for only six minutes. Six minutes? Six minutes? Just how much- Time dilation's real. Yeah.
• 8:33
[sings] Probably because of the solar eclipse yesterday. [laughs] I looked into the sun. We- Yeah. Same. I, well, I mean, just to, like- You know... get my bearings, but it was a- We all know it's a sign from God...
• 8:44
bright damn day. MGT told us that. [laughs] It was bright. She told us this is a sign from God. Yeah, looking directly in the sun. The eclipse is a sign from God. We need to repent. I was- Yep.
• 8:53
I wish she would've done it. Yep. [laughs] I, I think she, I think she knows- No, it's a repeat... it's coming out of her mouth and says it anyway. Oh, absolutely. It's long, long overdue.
• 8:59
Garrick, she is all for publicity. [sighs] She doesn't believe two-thirds- Long overdue... of the shit she says is my belief. I don't believe half the shit I say, but- Well, I don't say anything...
• 9:09
I don't say really dumb shit like that. [laughs] Not about me. It's performance theater. We all know this. Yeah, man. It's, it's not what you believe, it's how many tickets you sell these days, man. Right, right.
• 9:16
Yeah, for sure. Speaking of how many tickets we're gonna sell, let's, let's, uh, let's just touch on this, uh, this Alley Cat, just, we can always come back to it too, but- Yeah. True... Brett's here. Hunter's here.
• 9:26
This is the thing. Yeah. It, we'll have a picture of this, uh, in the show notes. Whoa. But, uh- [laughs]... it's the Green- Oh, perfect... Mile. Yep. A 420 Alley Cat, which I assume is on April 20th. It is indeed.
• 9:37
Why, by cracky it is. Says there something. Yep, yep. Yeah. Gotta be confusing if it wasn't. So, so do, do tell. I mean, uh, is it, like, an MMI style thing, or? That's the idea.
• 9:46
We are trying to resurrect some semblance of the MMI. You know, it has been a good long time since this city saw a real messenger style Alley Cat.
• 9:55
Uh, and, you know, since 4/20 falls on a Saturday, uh, and happenstance there's a wonderful legal loophole that leaves this wide open as an option, why not go for it and see if we can kinda build a bridge between the scene that used to be and all these 20-somethings that are running around out there now?
• 10:12
There's 20-somethings out there? Right. Allegedly. They're going out to Alley Cats like crazy, man. It's freaking crazy. Awesome. It's, it's kind of impressive.
• 10:18
We actually had to do the 21 and up, 'cause apparently there's, like, high schoolers getting into this shit all of a sudden. Oh. Okay. Yeah.
• 10:24
Like, we see them at Truly Spoken coming in, like, with bikes thrashed after the first Fridays. Really? Yeah. Okay. Uh, they- All right... they are pumped about this.
• 10:32
So that's kinda cool, uh, for what comes next in the scene. Are, are these the same kids that don't know the, the rules to a mosh pit? Mm, I hope not. Okay. I hope not. Mm. Uh- Mosh, mosh pitting does have rules. I know.
• 10:46
It does. Sometimes- The youngsters, I remember... one of them is, some, some, one of them is don't piss me off. Right, well. Yeah. [laughs] I'll tell you that much.
• 10:51
Sometimes they're broken, and sometimes they're, like, your- Well... shirt is gonna get split- Yes... when I pull you. There's a little bit of street justice out there- Yeah. [laughs]...
• 10:58
if you, uh, if you break the mosh pit rules. It's true, yes. [laughs] You know, yeah. Um- I, the, the first mosh pit that I'd seen in a long time was Robitz at the, uh, the Flat Out Friday party at, uh, Fuel.
• 11:10
I hadn't seen a mosh pit in a long time where- That the one at-... people are actually mosh pitting... at, uh, uh- Mm-hmm... Daikaiju. Well. Daikaiju. Yeah. Boy, that was a long time ago. Yeah, we were all there.
• 11:18
That was- At X-Ray. [laughs] That was- Yeah, it was just like this- That was my birthday underpants, man... I just kept bonking enemy. Yeah. Like, "No." That was, like, one of the best days of my life.
• 11:24
"You're doing it wrong." Well, man. "Get your ass in there." You're out there, man. Yeah. "Don't keep hitting me." Shauny- "Hit the people in there."
• 11:32
[laughs] I mean, there's no- Are you going to the top of the hill already? I haven't hit the top of the hill. [laughs] Top of the hill. Top of the hill. Top of the EV Bill- Oh, boy... EVB Hill.
• 11:40
He's gonna be, he's gonna be top of the EVB and with the Voodoo Ranger Imperial. Let's do it. Uh, whatever the hell that thing is. That's, that's the m- that's the most boozy- These are harsh. Yeah, these are-... stuff.
• 11:51
We're fluffing it with hams. Thank you very much. Yeah, that was the, uh- You can fluff that with your hams, but All right, so I digress, or did. Um, more of the, uh, the Green Mile thing. More Green Mile.
• 12:02
Sorry I jumped into that. That's all right. [laughs] It's a bit of a, it's a bit of a free-for-all out here It's a fluid situation. It's a hodgepodge. After- It's the name of the game...
• 12:08
after the shenanigans last week- [laughs]... well, this is pretty tame. Yeah. Uh, but yeah, no, the, the idea is to, uh, do a good old-fashioned alley cat.
• 12:16
You know, some twists, some turns, some really cool prizes, a bunch of local sponsors. You know- Looks like it, yeah...
• 12:22
it's, uh, yeah, you know, we've tried to do our due diligence and call in all those, uh, favors that we've been accruing over these years. So starting over on, uh, Vienna. Where, what are- Uh, Gathering Place.
• 12:32
Uh- Oh, right on. Okay... yeah, one of our- I, I'm like it's right down the block. It's literally right there. [laughs] Well, we have, we have two brew- It sounds like Keefe...
• 12:37
we have two breweries within a block of each other here. Yeah. Well, um- Well, it sounds like Keefe, but I, I'm, in my head I'm thinking it's Wells. [laughs] You know? [laughs] I'm having that- Yeah... breakaway start.
• 12:47
[laughs] And I'm like- No, that would be cool. And I- Well, no, I, it, like, that was in my head- Yeah... when you were saying the, um, yeah.
• 12:53
And I, I do think that, you know, maybe, uh, once upon a time Messenger offices might sneak into bonus checkpoints. If you know, you know, and you will be rewarded for that knowledge. And listening to this- Yeah...
• 13:03
will give you these. But, you know- Da, da, da, da, da, de, do, do, doop... details to be released on race day. Yeah. Yeah. No promises. It's the only way. Yep, yep, yep.
• 13:10
Um, but no, the idea is, yeah, kinda split the difference between an MMI, as well as maybe a little more straightforward just scavenger hunt checkpoint thing. Sure.
• 13:19
Uh, you know, the core of our event is riding around town, uh, collecting the ingredients you need to roll a joint. And all of the- [laughs]... goods that you will need will be furnished by Sense Gifts.
• 13:30
You will get a rolling tray, a grinder, papers, tips, lighter, and as many other- Wow... bits and bobs as we need to create enough checkpoints.
• 13:37
As well as an eighth from Three Tall Pines, uh, one of our lovely Wisconsin hemp growers here. Right on. That's the hemp. So- Yeah. It's, uh, it's too bad-...
• 13:45
explain, I mean, the loophole thing, I, we were delta-8ing, then we were delta-9ing- Yes... and then we were now a new version of Delta 9, but it's not Delta 9 until- It's not quite Delta 9. Right.
• 13:56
So where do these, um, nuances come in that we can actually get high? Yep. Uh, off of hemp. 'Cause off of... you know, I'm a gummy guy, but I don't mind smoking- Well-... the flower, you know?
• 14:06
I'm not, I'm not a vape guy. I don't like that stuff that much. Yeah. No, I'm not such a fan of the cartridges and most of the in- iterations of vapes myself either. Um- Vapes give me the, like, smoking a- Yeah...
• 14:16
a cigarette with the filter on. Just that chemical burn. It's stuffy and chemically and not my cup of tea. But, uh, all right. I don't smoke. So, uh- I don't bother smoking...
• 14:24
if you'll, uh, if you'll indulge me a brief history lesson. Please do, man. This was all kicked off i- with the 2018 farm bill, and it's one of the only good things that came out of that administration.
• 14:36
Is that the Walker nonsense? Uh, no, that was federal actually. That was- It got kicked all the way up to the federal... like, we, he who we will not name. Yes. Oh, yes. Um- [laughs] Damn...
• 14:44
squeeze the, uh- I'm squeezing right here, right? Yeah. I'm multitasking with my brain and my vizier. Here. I'll use mechanic hands. Yeah. There you go. [laughs] Oh, that's how you do that. Yeah.
• 14:54
Well, it, it- Mechanic hands... it sure does look like, uh... it looks like bud. Yeah, it does. It looks like marijuana, for sure. It, uh, you know, it quacks like a duck. Smells like bud.
• 15:01
[laughs] Uh, but- Let's see if it smokes. Maybe we should. We should smoke the bud. [laughs] Well, you know, we could roll one up. I wouldn't be against that at all. Um, yeah.
• 15:08
That, boy, that's, uh, that's got some aromatic aroma. Yeah. Uh, but anyway, so in 2018- Let me find my papers... the government sponsored and green lit the first government-backed guaranteed hemp grow.
• 15:20
So all the farmers went through a rather lengthy application background check process, got the crops in the ground, then government got cold feet and was like, "Oh, never mind."
• 15:28
And then all the farmers got together with their lobbyists and were like, "Hey, guys, you can't pull the rug out from under us like that."
• 15:33
So they kicked it all the way up the chain in a very hasty fashion and drew a very firm line in the sand as to what was hemp and what was cannabis. And the only difference between the two is the content of Delta 9 THC.
• 15:45
And according to that law, anything under.3% Delta 9 THC can technically and federally be considered hemp. And- Interesting...
• 15:55
the first iterations we saw of that were your D8 and your D10, your minor cannabinoids, the kind of siblings of Delta 9. Delta 9's the heavy hitter. That's- Sure, sure... the real one.
• 16:04
Uh, Delta 8 is most commonly found in sativa, so it's a lighter high. Delta 10 indica, if my memory serves me correctly, a little heavier.
• 16:12
We now in the industry, uh, as long as you're willing to push the gray area and you have a grower that knows his stuff, are focusing on THCA flower.
• 16:21
In all cannabis or hemp, all forms of THC, THC Delta 1 through 11 or 12 or however far it goes, starts off as THCA. And as the plant matures, it naturally decarbbs, decarboxylates, into all of the various forms of THC.
• 16:39
However, about 30% of cannabis strains it all stays as THCA, as well as cannabis harvested early. If one was so inclined, you can also harvest cannabis early, flash freeze it, send it out- Interesting...
• 16:52
have it evaluated, have it pass the test, and get it certified. But good growers don't do that. Good growers do their homework and actually breed reliable hemp genetics.
• 17:02
So THCA flower is a wonderful, stable, natural thing that is legal until you expose it to over 180 degrees heat. That's when THCA becomes everything else. Interesting. Ah. So until this is on fire, it's completely legal.
• 17:20
Oh. After that, less so. [laughs] It's not. Well, but then it's ash, so what do you- Yeah... what do you do? I mean- So the evidence is gone, man. Right. Huh. [laughs] So we're towing the line- What-... pretty hard.
• 17:31
What would it... [laughs] Yeah, I was gonna say, what would it turn up on a drug test? You would fail a drug test. Oh, yeah. That's what I figured. Yes. Yeah.
• 17:37
You absolutely would fail a urinalysis or hair test as a result of this. Um, honestly- Thank God I never have to do one of those... yeah, yeah. Fuck all that, man. Um- Remember I'm a state employee, okay?
• 17:48
[laughs] Yeah, so am I. [laughs] Man. Exactly. Be that as it may. [laughs] Be that as it may, yes. In different states on our state employment.
• 17:56
So, well, this is more, so this is more history and explanation than I've heard because- Yeah, this is actually fantastic. I mean- So you guys, you guys know a guy, like-...
• 18:05
awesome over here in the building- Oh, yeah... right next door, Nate. Yeah, we actually got together with him, and they are one of our sponsors. So he- The RCC-... was try-... will be a part of our lovely event...
• 18:14
he was trying to explain it to me, but he, he wasn't very good. He was like- Ah... he, sometimes he was like, "Well, we got it tested and we're supposed to burn all this, but it just seems like a shame to burn it all."
• 18:25
[laughs] "So we're just gonna like give it to friends and stuff," or whatever. It's like they're trying to- Well, and- They're trying to dial in their, you know, their whatev- whatever this is It's double paper. Yeah.
• 18:34
I think it was just, uh, double talk for selling weed to people, but... It smells like weed. [laughs] Oh, she gets the job done. Let's see if she tastes like weed. It's a double, it's a double paper. Right on.
• 18:44
Yeah, it's a little, little stuffy. Yeah. It's... Yeah, you [laughs] you guys wanna go for it? I'll, uh, I'll chop something up real quick. Um- Yeah, let's cut it. Let's get rid of this part here. But, uh, yeah.
• 18:59
No, I mean- There we go... honestly, uh, a lot of us stoners are shooting ourselves in the foot by not having taken our chemistry lesson.
• 19:04
I mean, I, uh, currently work at Sense Gifts on Center Street, and I took that job looking for the most slackery job I could think of.
• 19:11
So the fact that homework and a light understanding of chemistry and, uh, a minor in legal issues found me anyway- [laughs]... is pretty humorous. [laughs] Yeah. It's like you know m- He knows.
• 19:21
Sense- You know Martin's son, you know... Sense Gifts is one of my go-tos that has Top papers. Hell yeah. And I need my Top papers.
• 19:27
Dude, I mean, honestly, there are some contexts, like a good spliff or like a tough to roll joint, Tops is the only way to go. I'm just saying. Yeah, all these- I-...
• 19:36
hemp fibers and this and that, eh, Tops has stood the test of time. Yeah. Well, they're the top- I mean, I know-... I mean, looking for today... it, it's like going through a, uh- It's like Christmas for Tony over here.
• 19:44
[laughs] Uh, you know, like a cigar shop. Yeah. You know, at times, at places. Yeah. Where it's like, "Oh, huh, okay." Come on. "You don't have Tops. What's the closest thing you have to it?" "Oh, well, we have this."
• 19:55
Blue, Blue Beagle or- No, no. Well. But they s- they send you in the wrong direction. They send you in the place that, you know, it ends up being like the rice paper I'd get a spring roll from. That's not it.
• 20:04
And I'm just like, "Dude, no. No, no, no." That does not roll right at all. "This is that esang, not for my cigarette," man. [laughs] Yeah, I didn't want a spring roll, man. I wanted a joint.
• 20:14
[laughs] Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA. Yeah, it's like drinking liquor. Gets a thumbs up from me. Yeah. Yeah, it's not bad. It's only 9%. Oh, it- I mean, it's only- It's dr- it's totally drinkable.
• 20:23
It's, it's- It's terribly drinkable... it's barley wine. [laughs] Barley wine? Barley wine. Oh, man. Barley wine.
• 20:29
Like old- The thing is, it doesn't taste like it's all alcoholsey and you just wanna slam this shit 'cause- Right? No... that's the problem. Man. 100. Thanks for the new bog. We o- we only have
• 20:40
three cans of this, so we're- Yeah... can't get too destroyed. [laughs] If, uh, if you'll indulge me a brief messenger story. I've got a little barley wine anec- anecdote for you.
• 20:48
So 2017, we hosted the NAAA North American Cycle Courier Conference right here in Milwaukee. I watched. And yeah, it was a good time. The, uh, lo- NAAAC. That's a sanctioning body right there. Yeah.
• 20:59
  Bike messenger Olympics, man.
• 21:01
Uh, but anyway, the Pabst Brewing up on the hill there, when they were still there, was lovely enough to host us, and they donated kegs of barley wine as the free beer, uh- Oh, Jesus Christ... that charted in over 10%.
• 21:13
[laughs] Not understanding what was gonna happen when you told bike messengers it was an open bar for barley wine. [laughs] Ooh. Yeah. It w- it was a hell of a night. That's cool. I bet you some people were hurting.
• 21:24
Yeah. That was a rough day after. [laughs] That, that stuff kicks in hard, man. I'm not a... I used to like it when I was young. Yeah, because that was at, um, at Landmark, an import night. Okay.
• 21:37
Like, one of the last beers left was Old Nick, and it was- Yeah... like, just a gnarly barley wine. Gnarly barley. No- nobody wanted it. They come in at, what, like- 12 fives... 12 fives? [laughs] Something like that.
• 21:50
Re- um- I... It- Way back in the day... it's like, it was like Malort. I, I ended up having, like, "Oh, hey, I can deal with that." Well, I love Malort. Well, yeah, but I had- Sam- Sam Adams had that blue bottled
• 22:01
gold leafed barley wine that they sold that was just... Mm. [laughs] This is weird with the mic on. [laughs] Oh. Yeah, wow. Yeah, I know. I never had the audio- It's gonna be a weird show note.
• 22:14
Well, we don't have to finish this. No. This is the only size joint I know how to roll. [laughs] It's a megaphone, ladies and gentlemen. All right, let's, uh, let's...
• 22:24
While, while we're, uh, waiting for the completion of the joint rolling, let's just talk about the sponsors of the Green Mile. Yeah. Three Tall Pines.
• 22:32
Three Tall Pines, our lovely hemp growers right out in Plymouth, Wisconsin, doing a fantastic job. I like Plymouth. That's on the way to Road America. Yeah. It is. It's an awesome place. Yeah, yeah. Uh, The Daily Bird.
• 22:41
Yep, yep. Center Street's favorite coffee shop. I remember them on... They, they did one of these here on April 1st. [laughs] So there you go. Hell yeah. Uh, We Buy Records. Yep, yep, yep. Another Center Street sponsor.
• 22:51
Yeah. Working hard for the community. Do they buy CDs too, do you think? I th- allegedly just records. Well, it's a good thing. I mean, look at, there's a few records. Those are- Yeah...
• 23:00
some, those were my dad's records- Okay... from about, you know, 50 years ago. I might buy them from you. Cool. Some of them actually still have grooves that make music. Some of them- Been worn out...
• 23:10
like, sand paper might have been on them or something. Well, they'll still last longer than CDs, man. Oh, I, I tell you what. Those are just drifting away. That's basically wool.
• 23:17
You know, CDs will last longer than MP3s 'cause the next freaking, uh, nuclear blast is gonna take out all the I thought it was gonna be yesterday at 2:08. Yeah. We were gonna, like- I think in Centrist enter time...
• 23:28
go reviews. Yes, yes. Cool. I see that we're all saved from the rapture. Hunter's, Hunter's making a contribution. Yeah. We actually... Yes. We've got a few more sponsors on the books that- Oh, okay...
• 23:36
uh, did not quite slide onto the flyer just due to trying to get it out there. Right on. So let's- Um- So we're still with Kind Oasis. Yep, Kind Oasis. Hell yeah. Uh- Don't know. Two Tail That, that weird Truly Spoken...
• 23:46
Oh, Ki- yeah, Kind Oasis. Oh, yeah. Two Tails. Truly Spoken. That's a clever name for a bike shop, isn't it? [laughs] We do try. Do you remember that that was the first bike shop in River West? Yeah. Yeah, I do.
• 23:57
Back in the olden times when Aton was still actually living in Milwaukee. We can, we can go back to a,
• 24:01
we can go back to a previous podcast where we can talk about how Aton used to work for my father-in-law, rest his soul. And how, and how- And got my bike back. Remember? My, my belt drive. All right. Yeah, you know what?
• 24:13
A good one- He's good It was at that shop... that's good. Actually- Kinda keeps us- Wait, no... reminded of- It was at the new shop with it by that time. But I- Hunter, are you itching to talk now? Like, I don't talk.
• 24:23
[laughs] I don't, I'm not talking. But- No, he's just giving me the updated- I'm giving some stuff over... sponsor list. Um- Okay, more sponsors All right. Uh, I don't know what that one is 'cause I can't read.
• 24:31
So- Left- Cani, that is a lovely cannabis infusion cocktail bar down in Walker's Point. Full bar and coffee bar. Yeah. Full bar and coffee bar. Full bar. Any sort of drink your heart could desire.
• 24:42
Uh, Sense Gifts we talked- Sense Gifts... and, and, and of course Fitchburgers- Yep, yep, yep... which is the greatest... I wouldn't call it a hardware store- No... as much as a... It's like an eclectic thing. Yeah.
• 24:52
Variety store. Yeah. All right I mean, records, repairs, whatever gear you need. Yeah, it's sorta weird. It's like- And if I'm not mistaken, Sarah was, uh, the Sea Hag in old Brew City Bruisers. Yep. [laughs] Oh, nice.
• 25:08
She came off as the Sea Hag. And just because eclectic things make me very happy, I do need to mention our buddy Sav up in Decorah with his cardboard robot store. That, that is pretty cool.
• 25:21
There's no way that River West would not embrace a cardboard robot if you said- Yeah... "Hey, Greg, why don't you open a cardboard robot in River West?" Because it's all the shit you used to like.
• 25:33
Estes Rockets, you know? Oh, nice. Shit to build shit with. Estes Rockets. Ooh, that comes to your- Maybe you wanna color something. Maybe...
• 25:39
It's just all sorts of good old-fashioned shit you did when you were a kid stuff. Yeah. And it's kickass. Cardboard Robot, Decorah, Iowa. They are on the web. I think it's cardboardrobot.com probably.
• 25:52
[laughs] Sav, I hate you. You should probably never talk to me again next time I come to Decorah. [coughs] That'd be very good. Thank you. Sorry, boys. [fan whirs] Volume down. No, geez, fuck. Oh, we got ambiance now.
• 26:02
Dope. [laughs] Who are the other, the other sponsors? So the other sponsors are, um... Hunter, you wanna unlock this one last time? So we'll keep going down the w- the list here. We, we finished.
• 26:11
We Buy Records, as stated. [coughs] Uh, Lefty Work, which is a wonderful River West ba- based [coughs] handmade bike bag and gear [coughs] company. Bag. Uh, he's a member of the polo scene, which is a pretty rare thing.
• 26:23
Nice. So- That's something we should get on the show is some more polo action. Yeah, absolutely. 'Cause we, we talked about it before the pandemic a few times, but we... By the way, this is our 249th show.
• 26:32
We've been doing this for a while. Man, next week- We actually talked-... will be 250, yo. Let him, let him finish the list here. Ow. Um- I will. Never. Mr.- Never... Glasses Guy.
• 26:40
I can't- We'll close in on that, I swear. [laughs] Right? Now he's got the glasses on. See- We're never actually derailed. We just-... personally, I'll- God, I hope my glasses are in my blind. Well, let me ask you this.
• 26:48
Do you need them to see? Yeah. [coughs] Well, if you took them off, what would happen? Oh my God, he's blind. [laughs] I'm not completely- And a little butt shot... blind, but I have no idea who you are.
• 26:57
They actually look like solar glasses. Yes, you do. I mean, I do obviously 'cause I know you, but- Can you see this right here? Yeah, I can. You're doing the fucking thing again. There you go. Oh my God. All right.
• 27:05
Again with the sponsors. Thank you very much. [laughs] Uh, so Little Put, yet another independent record- Yeah, yeah, record store. Yep... well, record store throwing down some cool stuff.
• 27:13
Um- This does not [coughs] taste illegal at all. Nope. Nope, nope, nope. Fully legal here. [laughs] Uh, and yeah, we do have a promise of some libations, uh, up at the Uptowner, so Steven will be, you know- [laughs]...
• 27:27
uh, tending bar with the finest- What a great human being that man is. Yeah. Eh, so he's a good guy. He's often- Good stuff... commented as being a good human on this podcast.
• 27:32
He was yelling a lot yesterday at a bike that we will never work on again, but- Okay. We did go up on- No big deal. It happens... we did go up on the roof and watch the eclipse- Nice...
• 27:39
for about a half an hour with a beer or two, and maybe some- Hells hands... not quite legal s- We haven't talked about the eclipse... not this legal stuff. We were up there with the, the others. I love the ambiance.
• 27:50
Right. But, uh, yeah, it was good. [laughs] Well, shit.
• 27:54
Okay, so we got We Buy Records, Lefty Works, Cani, Kind Oasis, Daily Bird, Truly Spoken, Center Street Gift, or Sense Gifts on Center Street, Fitchburgers, Three Tall Pines, uh, Rock House. That covers it, right?
• 28:08
I love- Yeah... me some Rock House. Yeah. Yeah, we should definitely mention, um- You know, we used to be in that building back when we were kinda cool as a bike shop. Yeah. Yeah, sure.
• 28:17
Back in my day- Yeah, back in the-... when we started out this- I fixed some bikes in that shop [laughs] But Rusty, uh, that's where this show started. But Rusty is the shit for sure. Yeah. It's probably not.
• 28:25
Also, I heard he has Deadfinger. He has a Deadfinger vinyl. [sighs] Which- Dude-... I probably ought to go buy... if he, if it's the one... Oh, shit, I heard it, uh, last week. Um, [laughs]
• 28:38
you know, you're just, like, listening to music in the background, and all of a sudden you're like, "Wow." Like all the time. I know, you know, just... Well, in the background, not paying really attention. No.
• 28:49
And it's like, "Holy shit. Wait, I know this song." And it was fucking, uh, "Sun ain't gonna shine anymore." Like [blows raspberry] old- Like-... Cher and crazy shit like that. Right? But it was Deadfinger doing it.
• 29:03
Oh, nice. [laughs] And [laughs] they fucking kill it. Did you see this right here? I, that's what was alarming me. That's why I clinked the damn thing. I know.
• 29:11
It's a different, it's a different one than was up there before. [laughs] I wanted to mount the TV before- This is like Poltergeist... the show, but I didn't get to it... Poltergeist, man... so.
• 29:18
I mean, that's a- I'm gonna take that TV there, slap it on the wall over here. This is gonna end up being like the clown in the corner in Poltergeist. [laughs] I, I think it might just end up on that wall- Yeah...
• 29:27
because like, because that's actually another set over there. No one knows. And they'll just do their kinda- Speaking of which, where is Matt Gates?... fireside chat shit. Okay, I get you. I get you. Yeah.
• 29:35
But we could put these- Where, where is Matt Gates?... phallic symbols. Is this a- Speaking of phallic symbols, where is Matt Gates? [laughs] Uh, Matt- He's over there. Oh, Matt Gates is on top of the router.
• 29:43
Oh, there he is. Fuck him. Yeah. Grab him. Show him to the camera. Yep, that's Matt Gates right there. Fuck him. Yeah. Or throw him- He, he's, he's- Or [laughs]...
• 29:50
motherfucking chow monster Kinda the, kinda the star of the show. I kinda wanna put him in a blender like I did. Yeah. [laughs] Matt. Hey, we'll figure out something.
• 29:58
I mean, I've- You know you could stick your finger right up his butt, right there, too. Just right up there. He would like that. Right up his butt. He would like that, I'm certain of it. Yeah.
• 30:04
Well- I just don't know what poor character- Off the record, he's really into that... I don't know what poor character that is- Not that there's anything wrong with that... that guy, man. No, no, that's fine.
• 30:10
But you gotta own it. But, yeah. You can't be like, "I don't love that." Early in my radio career- You gotta be like, "Yeah, I love that"... as a, uh, intern with fricking Julio... uh, at the, at the- Great...
• 30:22
  91 point- No... 104, 3, 2, 1. 10- New rock... 1021. 1021. There we go. I, I knew I'd get to it.
• 30:29
And he was like, he's like, "Take the Scooby-Doo character and the Shaggy character and throw them in a blender on the air with..." Like this, and like I did. [laughs] And it kicked out part of the, uh- The, the thing...
• 30:44
the, the croth or whatever the hell it is. The glass. It busted out the glass. Yeah. Well, just a piece of it, and it him in [laughs] my face as he's on the air- Jeez... thinking I, like, threw it at him.
• 30:54
[laughs] Uh, as well he should. Yeah. I'm just like, "Dude, no. Of course not." Who would've thought- You draw blood?... that something bad would... Yeah. Awesome. It was awesome. [laughs] All right.
• 31:06
Before you reminisce too far back in- I'll stop... 30 years ago history, um, [laughs] so are we good with sponsors and, uh- Yeah, I think hunter will cover the sponsors. And I'm- All right...
• 31:14
not too much of a space cadet here. Um, okay. All right. We talked about a 1:00 PM- Yep... which I think is very, like... Are people coming in from out of town? Like, any- Well-...
• 31:22
Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh people- Damn Pre-Reg?... or Chicago people or? We... All right, so I can give you the rundown. We're trying to pad the actual start time. So 1:00 PM meetup starts.
• 31:30
Manifests are passed out at 2:00. Event starts at 3:00. Uh, since there's probably gonna be a lot of first timers to an actual Alleycat, we're gonna give them time to try to untangle the web we've weaved.
• 31:42
[laughs] Uh, as well as ask any questions that may occur to them. Um, so yeah. 1:00 PM is check-in, registration, ID check, get your shirt, get your stuff, get everything in order. 2:00 PM manifests go out.
• 31:54
3:00 PM is go time. 6:00 PM is finish line at the Uptowner, and awards are at 7:00. Right on. Where? I like that it's, you know, like if, uh... So, remember the Steel Is Real? I do.
• 32:06
It was on a Saturday, and then we started at some ridiculous hour, like 10:00 AM, [smacks lips] and then we were on the river until 4:00 AM with Zito- [laughs]...
• 32:15
in a Duffy boat and having a great time, 'cause he did a p- he did a one-year anniversary the day- Thank God I didn't do that... before the Steel Is Real like a dick. Oh, yes.
• 32:22
[laughs] 'Cause everybody was fucking hammered the next day. Yeah. And it turned into a shit show, and I never did another one because people complained too much. So you know what? Checks out. Fuck off.
• 32:31
That's why we're not doing another Steel Is Real. Why'd you bring up Zito? Or we might do it. Well, the MMI was in there. Or we might do it. Yeah. This is why. Okay. Okay. Somewhat. [laughs] Dot, dot, dot.
• 32:39
I mean, I remember sitting at Jamo's with him on some, [laughs] some MMI stops in the past. [laughs] It's like, [laughs] "Why are we doing it here?" He's like, "Well, why wouldn't you do it here?" [laughs] Yeah.
• 32:49
Well, yeah. There was a- Yeah. I can't, I- There is a logic you have to just-... I cannot imitate his voice but-... kind of match after a bit... we should be able to... ding, da-ding, da-ding. Yeah. All right.
• 32:57
You know what? Um, I wanna mention two other things before we- Mm... stop this nonsense. Um- Since we're way over. We're... Stop it. Oh, uh- We started at, like, 6:00 after, so we're-... okay.
• 33:06
I suppose there's one thing I can mention about the race real quick. Oh, okay. There's only 25 Von Munn's shirts, so get there early. Wait, what? [laughs] Oh, yeah. Okay.
• 33:16
Uh, Von Munn, Von Munn has been gracious enough to agree- You did not start with that. I didn't. I forgot. No, I think it's- We saved the best for last... no, no. No, no.
• 33:24
Bury it at the end where nobody'll hear it- You know, you gotta listen, man... 'cause this, I gotta get there to be number 24. This is the- There's- Yeah...
• 33:29
Von Munn's designed shirt There is limited run Von Munn's designed shirts. Blue leader. No preview available. Jesus Christ, that's unbelievable. Fucking blue. That's unbelievable. Yep. Fucking blue.
• 33:38
We tried to do our homework, man. That, that is- Yeah. There you go... that's, right there, that's worth the price of admission. Oh. Yeah. And then some.
• 33:45
You get a bag of herb, a Von Munn's shirt, and a hell of an afternoon. What more do you want from a Saturday, man? Mm, blowjob maybe. Well. So- Come on. [laughs] Oh, this show has gone straight to hell. Sorry, honey.
• 33:56
I'm sorry, honey. I s- smoked some non-legal... I mean, legal [laughs] whatever. [laughs] You know what? If you listen to this show- Wow... you, you know what you're gonna get anyway, so. Yeah.
• 34:05
After, after 249 of these things- [laughs]... it really hasn't changed that much. [laughs] Um, okay, so two real quick things. Uh, May 4th, Osage, Iowa, Mayday Mayhem is gonna be the bomb, you fuckers. [laughs] What?
• 34:19
You should go. No, I'm gonna, I'm gonna- I have registration for the River West 24. Make Damian do it. Yep, yep. What? Or someone. [laughs] I mean, he's gotta be there. Come on.
• 34:28
It wouldn't be- Who is gonna sleep out overnight? Yeah. Blah, blah, blah. You remember those- Oh, I'm gonna go to-... I spent a lot of nights next to you in the parking lot. I am still, I've slept out every year, dude.
• 34:36
Yeah. I, I only got in the tail end. All right. But, but- I delivered, I delivered maps. Notwithstanding Tony and his, you know, obligation to get the team registered, this is a great event. It's a clunker event.
• 34:47
Single speed, coaster brake. Otherwise, don't bring it. And their trails are awesome. Nice.
• 34:54
There's only a few sketchy sections where having a coaster brake is, like, super intimidating, and the trees come up really fast. Other than that, it's along the Cedar River. There's about, I don't know- Wait...
• 35:05
60, 80 feet of elevation, so it kinda goes up and down and up and down and up and down over the- Dude, [laughs] undulation. Not... Yes, it undulates. Do, do the trees- You're a collector. Hey...
• 35:14
do the trees come up fast- Occasional mic sits... when you're riding a coaster brake, or do they come up, oh, fucking fast? No, they come up fast and it's- That's, okay. What I mostly hate- Well, there's Slacky.
• 35:24
[laughs] 'Cause on a coaster that can be freaking harrowing. No, I know. What I hate about a coaster brake is, like, you, I wanna reset my feet. Mm. But I always have to go forward to do it. Mm-hmm.
• 35:34
[laughs] I d- I, you know, which means you're going faster then- [laughs]... instead of slower. [laughs] You're so in your head on a clunker. It's fucking- I know... it's crazy, man. It's, but I love it.
• 35:43
I'm just like, "Uh, uh, uh." It's a blast. It's fun. And I, here. Okay. Here's one more, one more tip on the clunker thing. Do not have thick slicks on your clunker. [laughs] You're gonna want some tread. Yeah.
• 35:56
Because- That sounds, that seems like common sense... those things suck so bad on ice, I can't even tell you how bad they suck on ice. They're not made for ice. Tony's a witness.
• 36:03
I've ridden those things everywhere, and then suddenly ice is gonna put me on the ground. Ice puts everyone on the ground. You know what I don't like about ice? That. Everything puts everything on ice. All right.
• 36:11
And the other thing is, this is the, the, the last thing, and then we'll probably, maybe stop talking.
• 36:17
September 20th to September 22nd, Levis Mounds- Wisconsin, up there near Black River Falls, is both, uh, Single Speed Wisconsin and Gnomefest 20-some-thousandth whatever the fuck it is thing 20th year-ish. Yes.
• 36:32
That's two weeks after my birthday. It is. If you haven't ridden Levus, it's one of the- It's beautiful... the best kept secrets in- It is, uh, beautiful, right... in the Midwest. It's awesome. Yeah.
• 36:42
Plus, there'll be about 200 people camping there. Mm-hmm. [laughs] And stuff. Fun. [laughs] So, uh, this Green Mile business is right up the same vein- It absolutely is... as going there to, uh, Lotus Mountains.
• 36:57
But, but I'm gonna throw this in real quick before the show's over, but I actually watched somebody cook- He always has to have the last word. Yep. [laughs] Um, who...
• 37:04
I, I watched someone, we are not gonna say his name, but he's been on the show, who cooked a pound of bacon in two pounds of butter at the Gnome Fest I was at. Why is that a bad idea? It's not. It- No. You know? Yeah.
• 37:20
Frying up MC's like a pound of bacon. First of all, you know what I can eat? [laughs] What? I can, I can eat bacon. Dude. I'm gonna tell you right off the bat- I can eat butter. You know what I can't eat? Wasn't...
• 37:28
anything bread. I- I- I will tell you right off the bat- I need to be a protein guy... it was pretty delicious... that's the way it works. It was pretty delicious. All right, fuck you guys.
• 37:35
[laughs] That's, that's all this, that's all we got. Fuck you guys, I'm going home. [laughs] Unless, unless- [laughs] Fuck you. Unless our guests have something else to say.
• 37:42
Otherwise, it's- Uh, we'd love to thank you for your time- Thank you... uh, both you guys and the listeners out there. This was awesome. And you can tell Chewy to go fuck himself too. Oh, yeah.
• 37:49
You know what we should do? At the party at Uptowner. Oh. Be there or be square. At the party at Uptowner. Towner, Towner. 4:20 party at Uptowner.
• 37:55
We should get everybody that listens to this show just to say, "Fuck you, Chewy." That'd be awesome. You know how he can't do it? 'Cause he doesn't have technology. Technology. I got it. Guess we should do that.
• 38:04
Oh, by the way, a lot of- Fuck you, Chewy... a lot... Maybe I'll put this in for next week. A lot of people called in that couldn't make the show and said, "Thanks, guys. You fucking rule." Nice. That's cool. I, I know.
• 38:14
