- 0:00Don't forget tomorrow. It all starts on the radio, the first basketball broadcast
- 0:04of the season. The women will take on Southern Connecticut. A gamble or
- 0:07radio coverage on the River one oh five nine Tomorrow begins at twelve thirty dead
- 0:11Fiscus back with me full pre game. We'll hear from coach Orima, we'll
- 0:15hear from the Southern folks, and we'll get ready for a broadcast tip off
- 0:19shortly after one here on the Yukon Sports Network and the Varsity Network. Gap
- 0:23with Coach Orima here for a couple more segments before we deferred to Tanya and
- 0:28Ben, and we'll get Gino's thoughts on those editions later. You mentioned Caroline
- 0:32one of those that had a really good game against Syracuse and the scrimmage.
- 0:36Still dealing obviously with the concussion issues, Gino, but it sounds like she's
- 0:40got a little more better understanding and a little more under control of what she
- 0:44needs to do on and off the court to take care of herself. Yeah,
- 0:50and the concussion issue is gone. I mean right now, there's no
- 0:58there's no concussion issues that we're dealing with with Carol. I think it's more
- 1:03of this tightness that she has in her in her neck and in her upper
- 1:11upper shoulder muscles, and and that kind of goes into the back of her
- 1:18back of her head and it causes a lot of you know, a lot
- 1:21of headaches and a lot of pain. But the concussion issue has been taken
- 1:26care of. You know that she hasn't had any concussion issues since last year.
- 1:34But she's the best I've seen her since freshman year. She's at a
- 1:41really, really high level right now. And I couldn't be happier with with
- 1:47her play and just everything that she's that she's doing. So I wanted to
- 1:53enjoy it. I want her to be happy. I want her to feel
- 1:57really good being out on the floor and do what she's good at and it
- 2:01you know, and it looks that way right now. So I'm thrilled for
- 2:05her, and I know how much she means to our team now. It's
- 2:08amazing. I've gone almost ten minutes of the Coaching Show without mentioning number five
- 2:14page Beckers, who's back this season. She's going to play some tomorrow.
- 2:19Fifteen pounds of muscle over the past two years rehabbing knee injuries, the whole
- 2:23sort and from everything that I've seen. I went to practice Monday, and
- 2:25it's being reported she looks pretty good obviously, though it's going to take a
- 2:30little time to get that rust off. I would think, you know,
- 2:32yeah, playing standpoint game standpoint, yeah, I think all the practices and
- 2:38everything that you know you can do, all the rehab doesn't really prepare you
- 2:44for an actual game game situation and being you know, caught up in the
- 2:52moment and the adrenaline and everything going on and having to make plays and these
- 2:58things are you know, things that you have to do all the time in
- 3:04order to stay sharp. And you know, she hasn't played in a game
- 3:07in a long long time. And I think that's one reason why she wants
- 3:10to play tomorrow is she wants to get she wants to get her feet wet,
- 3:17she wants to get back into it. And I'm encouraging her too,
- 3:23and we'll we'll see, you know how long it takes her to get back
- 3:29to one hundred percent, But I don't know the vision. It's going to
- 3:30take her real long. From the practices that you've had, the inner squad
- 3:36scrimmages that sort of, I know she didn't take part in the scrimmage against
- 3:39Syracuse, maybe partly because of the thumb. What have it seemed different about
- 3:44Page, say from a healthy page freshman year to now the fact that she
- 3:47is stronger, Yeah, more confident. Maybe it's stronger and more confident about
- 3:54her body and where she can go on the court, a little more mature
- 4:00as a as a player, as a person. I think when you watch
- 4:03basketball for an entire year from the bench, you really do see the game
- 4:09in a different different through a different lens, And that's helped her be more
- 4:17be more aware, be more conscious of what's going on, What risk can
- 4:23I take, which ones can't? What opportunities can I take advantage of?
- 4:28You know, she's shooting the ball exactly the same, She's you know,
- 4:32been pretty consistent in just about every area. I think she just looks and
- 4:38feels much much, much much better than at any time since her freshmanyear,
- 4:45even including her freshman year. Yeah, then the compliment Asy Fudd, Now
- 4:49we obviously talked about this last year. They've only played fifteen games together.
- 4:54I mean in two years. That's that's even that's to think about, what
- 4:57did you seem different about Asy? What? What is she doing better?
- 5:00Both on and off the floor, as far as taking care of herself,
- 5:02taking care of those knees, that sort of thing. They all have.
- 5:08They all have issues that they have to stay on top of, you know,
- 5:13whether it's before practice, after practice, before games, after games,
- 5:16there's a lot that goes into, you know, getting on the court and
- 5:20feeling like you're ready to play. And no one, no one takes care
- 5:25of themselves better than Easy does. And I believe that she is the healthiest
- 5:32she's been since we started here. She had some incredible games in the beginning
- 5:40of the season last year before before she got hurt, she played great in
- 5:46the scrimmage. So I think the the thing with Aisy is the comfort level
- 5:54that she has knowing I'm good to go, and I've played bits and pieces
- 6:01here and now I want to play a full season and I want to contribute
- 6:04and take advantage of the tremendous talents that I have. And we're putting her
- 6:12in different situations and saying we want to use you in a lot of different
- 6:15ways. She's so versatile, so I couldn't ask for anything more. I
- 6:23mean, I wanted to make every shot, so she's not obliging. She
- 6:28misses one once in a while, so, well, you know, you
- 6:32do have a few other young ladies that can shoot the ball. Price Yes,
- 6:35yeah, there's a couple of them that are not allowed to miss,
- 6:38and she's one of them. So we're constantly trying to get more and more
- 6:46out of them, and uncannily they always give you more. Funny how that
- 6:51works more with Ginel on the U kind of women's basketball coaches showing a moment
- 6:56here on Learfield
