- 1:32Dayna Roselli: And the killers play to a packed hometown crowd, and a classic rock band announces shows with classical musicians.
- 1:40Sean McAllister: Plus, what a drag.
- 1:43Sean McAllister: RuPaul's drag race holds the show's finale on the strip, while new queens join the resident stage production at the Flamingo.
- 1:52Dayna Roselli: Let's get right to it and spin that wheel.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: Man, Sean, I know we mentioned this last week.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: April is jam-packed.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: Like every week we say that, more things come in.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: Like at least seven things come in daily about this is going on in April.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: Can you go to this?
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: This is going on in April.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: It's crazy, right?
- 2:32Sean McAllister: Well, I think I threw a mini tantrum yesterday.
- 2:34Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:35Sean McAllister: Because we got a handful of emails about things that are happening in the last week of April.
- 2:41Sean McAllister: And I'm like, my lord, people, there's already a lot, too much happening in April.
- 2:47Sean McAllister: Just wait until May.
- 2:49Sean McAllister: Just wait.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: I wish we were saying, like, is anything gonna happen in May?
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: April showers bring May flowers and events.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: I hope.
- 2:58Dayna Roselli: But we do have a lot going on.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: It's a huge week here in Las Vegas.
- 3:02Dayna Roselli: So want to let everyone know the Palms is reopening and we're gonna be at that opening.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: We are actually uh talking with people from the Palms.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: All that coverage is gonna be in our next podcast.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: Um, because we want to really dive into it's a big deal.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: It's been closed since, you know, before COVID, new ownership, and we're gonna tell you everything you need to know about the Palms, which is a favorite among people that live here and visit.
- 3:25Sean McAllister: Yeah, so you'll get all of that in episode 116 coming up next week.
- 3:31Sean McAllister: Uh, but Dana, one of the big bits of news that came out this past week that I know that you were super excited about.
- 3:40Sean McAllister: You even said as we were sitting here working, you were like, uh, I need to find a way to get there.
- 3:46Sean McAllister: Because your boy, Tom Brady, is one of four NFL champs who is playing in the Capital One the Match.
- 3:57Sean McAllister: Now, this is the second time uh Capital One has come out here to Las Vegas to put on the match.
- 4:04Sean McAllister: The last time it was two PGA pros at the Wind Golf course.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: This time it's back at the Wind Golf course, except with Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers taking on Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: This is happening on Wednesday, June 1st.
- 4:21Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:22Sean McAllister: So at least, Dana, you can look forward to June and have this on your calendar.
- 4:26Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 4:26Sean McAllister: It's not in April.
- 4:27Dayna Roselli: I know, I know.
- 4:28Dayna Roselli: That's true, that's true.
- 4:29Dayna Roselli: And yeah, when you started saying Tom Brady, I was like, we need to clear up.
- 4:33Dayna Roselli: We're talking about golf here, though.
- 4:35Dayna Roselli: So it's football players playing golf.
- 4:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 4:38Dayna Roselli: And that's the cool part.
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: I think that's gonna make it really fun.
- 4:41Dayna Roselli: Because they're, I mean, I feel like they all play golf, right?
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: So they're good at the and I feel like people that are athletes are always good at everything else that has to do with sports as well.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: I mean, you know what I mean?
- 4:50Dayna Roselli: Like they can't really suck at golf.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: No.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: They're good at football.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: In the offseason, a lot of football players take up golf because it's a non-contact sport.
- 5:00Sean McAllister: So it's hard to get like super badly injured if you're playing golf.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 5:05Sean McAllister: I mean, maybe if you have a run-in with a cart or something, but we'll hope that that doesn't happen.
- 5:09Sean McAllister: So June 1st, uh, the TNT network is going to be exclusively televising uh what's being described as an epic 12-hole event.
- 5:20Sean McAllister: That'll be fun, right?
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: Is this the same thing that they did the one time where they actually put the microphones on the player?
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, it was it was Tiger, right?
- 5:27Dayna Roselli: Was it Tiger or somebody else?
- 5:29Dayna Roselli: I can't think of who it was.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: Two, you're right, two players with microphones on, and you could hear their kind of discussion and commentary during it.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 5:37Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 5:38Sean McAllister: Yep, so it's so it's gonna be fun.
- 5:39Sean McAllister: And you know that there's gonna be some smack talking going on between these guys.
- 5:44Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 5:44Sean McAllister: Uh so June 1st, 6 30 p.m.
- 5:47Sean McAllister: Eastern time on TNT at the Win Golf Course, which is absolutely gorgeous.
- 5:54Sean McAllister: And I was just out there, Dana.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: Well, that's what I wanted to bring up, and that's kind of why we wrote this down as a topic to discuss, because I thought, Sean, you were just there.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: Let's talk about it.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: And your um segment, your story, just aired on Vegas On, and you can find that at visitlosvegas.com or on their YouTube.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: We do correspondent work for a show called Vegas On.
- 6:14Dayna Roselli: Sean did a behind-the-scenes look at the Win Golf Course, which is the only golf course on the strip, and it's gorgeous.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: Not a lot of people get on it because it's pretty pricey.
- 6:24Sean McAllister: It is.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: So, what did you find out?
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: Tell us some of the cool exclusive things.
- 6:28Sean McAllister: Well, what's really cool about this, it's the only resort golf course that is on the Las Vegas Strip, uh, and it dates back to the 50s.
- 6:39Sean McAllister: This was the Desert Inn golf course back in the day, and uh so it's got a lot of history.
- 6:45Sean McAllister: The golf course has been redone, redesigned over the years, but there are still uh some trees on some of the holes, some of the big old trees that date back to the Desert Inn years.
- 6:58Sean McAllister: And rumor has it that on one of those trees that remains from the original golf course, Dean Martin actually carved his name into the tree, but now the tree has grown so much you have to climb up there to actually get a look at it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 7:14Sean McAllister: Uh so that's a bit of Vegas history that remains on the course.
- 7:19Sean McAllister: Something else that I thought was cool.
- 7:21Sean McAllister: This is the course where obviously Dean Martin played, but so did the rest of the rat pack.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: So when Frank and Sammy and Joey and Dean, they were all out there out there playing.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: And if you know the rat pack, you know that they enjoyed some cocktails.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: So they had a golf cart follow them around so that whenever they wanted a cocktail while they were playing around to golf, they would have somebody to serve it to them.
- 7:47Sean McAllister: And that was the birth of the drink cart.
- 7:51Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 7:52Sean McAllister: Drink carts did not exist in golf until the rat pack had that invented essentially on this golf course that is now the wind golf course.
- 8:03Dayna Roselli: That is such a cool story.
- 8:05Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 8:05Dayna Roselli: That I never knew the the drink cart was started by that, but that makes sense.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: It's Vegas, you know?
- 8:12Sean McAllister: Hey, that's Vegas Revealed right there.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: Vegas revealed, revealed on Vegas on and Vegas Revealed, right?
- 8:19Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 8:20Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, I know that you said it was gorgeous, and I know that when you were talking to uh the staff over there, they were saying, you know, yeah, it's pricey, but guess what?
- 8:28Dayna Roselli: We've had no problem getting people in here.
- 8:31Sean McAllister: Let me tell you, they said that they have been booked.
- 8:33Sean McAllister: Uh they are booking 20% more rounds, tea times, than they have in their busiest year in history.
- 8:43Sean McAllister: And you know, even as rates go up, people still keep booking.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: So uh golf la Las Vegas is a golf destination.
- 8:53Sean McAllister: And let me tell you, the wind golf course is a beautiful place to take in a round if you're coming here.
- 8:59Sean McAllister: We do have a ton of other fantastic golf courses as well.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: We do.
- 9:04Dayna Roselli: Um and and even when you were talking about the price, it's it's very expensive, but there are people who drop that on bottle service at a nightclub.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: So you figure, you know, what four hours you get on the course?
- 9:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's like$7.50 for a round.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: $7.50 for a round, and that's per person.
- 9:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 9:21Dayna Roselli: I was telling my family that they were like, well, is that for the group?
- 9:24Dayna Roselli: I'm like, no.
- 9:25Sean McAllister: No, that's not a foursome.
- 9:26Sean McAllister: Uh-uh.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 9:28Dayna Roselli: Well, um, let's keep on the kind of uh sports mode theme here because the NFL draft is in town.
- 9:34Dayna Roselli: It's a huge event for Las Vegas.
- 9:36Dayna Roselli: It was supposed to be here, and then Las Vegas shut down back in 2020, right?
- 9:41Sean McAllister: Right, yeah.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: So all the preparations were getting underway.
- 9:44Sean McAllister: We had all these great renderings of all these events that were going to be happening and how Las Vegas was gonna be built out to accommodate this huge National Football League event, and then the world shut down.
- 9:58Sean McAllister: Well, the world is opened back up now.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: The NFL draft is back in Las Vegas, and right now, let me tell you, there is a lot of construction and event preparations happening up and down the Las Vegas strip to get ready for this.
- 10:14Dayna Roselli: Well, you just read about it on Twitter, because you know, Twitter's a place where everyone goes to complain.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: True.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: And so if you want to know what's going on where people are complaining and bitching and moaning, go to Twitter.
- 10:26Dayna Roselli: Anyway, everyone's complaining about the traffic and the shutdowns, all to build this stage that is sitting on top of the Bellagio fountains, which is super cool, and I'm all for.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: I mean, that's gonna be a great visual.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: Obviously, this is a made-for-tv event.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 10:44Sean McAllister: And if you're having it in Las Vegas, you want to have cool TV backdrops, and there's no cooler backdrop than the Bellagio Fountains.
- 10:52Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: But I'll play the devil's advocate.
- 10:55Dayna Roselli: Folks are chiming in saying, we just built a brand new gorgeous stadium.
- 10:59Dayna Roselli: Why don't we do it in there?
- 11:01Dayna Roselli: Why are we clogging up traffic on the strip?
- 11:04Dayna Roselli: And and it's so like, you know, but um I'm I love the fountain idea because I because it has to be on the strip.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: That's the thing.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: The Allegiance Stadium's like one or two streets over, it's not the same.
- 11:15Dayna Roselli: It's gotta be on Lost, and then the fountains and it promotes tourism and all that stuff.
- 11:19Dayna Roselli: So I love that they're doing it.
- 11:21Dayna Roselli: Also, I don't work on the strip, so I guess if it clogged up my commute for like a week and a half or two weeks, I might be a little more annoyed.
- 11:28Sean McAllister: That is true.
- 11:29Dayna Roselli: But how pretty is that gonna be?
- 11:30Sean McAllister: It's gonna be gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.
- 11:33Dayna Roselli: And you're gonna be probably working the red carpet for the show Vegas on.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 11:36Dayna Roselli: Uh sometimes those things pan out at the last minute, but you're on the schedule to do that, and so we'll hear how it goes next weekend.
- 11:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, so it'll be cool to be down there, see it in person, uh, be a part of all of the excitement and the hype that goes into the NFL draft, and you know, see a lot of these fresh young faces that are entering the league.
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and something I was looking up when I was looking at all the details for the weekend, and I said to you, gosh, this is really cool.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: The NFL experience that's happening right like kind of in the parking lot behind the High Roller and by behind the Link Promenade, right near the Caesars Forum, um, is a whole free experience.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: So like families and and whoever adults can go out there and experience this entire section full of like games and player autographs and different kinds of, I'm sure, experiences and food and all that, but it's a whole thing, and it's I think all three days and it's free.
- 12:34Sean McAllister: Yeah, and they're gonna be having uh viewing parties out there for the actual draft.
- 12:39Sean McAllister: So if you're you know not standing down by the Bellagio fountains, which most people will not get a good spot if you try and take it in in person, and plus you probably won't really be able to hear that well and see what's going on.
- 12:53Sean McAllister: So the best place to be is over at Caesars Forum.
- 12:56Sean McAllister: That's their big convention center that they built there behind the the high roller, that big Ferris wheel looking thing, although it's officially an observation.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: Don't call it a Ferris wheel.
- 13:08Sean McAllister: I just slapped my own hand.
- 13:09Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 13:10Sean McAllister: Uh so over at Caesars Forum, they have the stage set, they're gonna be doing presentations out there, some conversations with players, they'll have a big screen for viewing parties, among the other interactive activities that they've got going on.
- 13:26Dayna Roselli: Oh, it sounds amazing.
- 13:27Dayna Roselli: And uh it's gonna be packed, and gosh, we are just booming here in Vegas.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: Every week something ends, and then it's like something else is coming in like another week and a half.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: That's like a huge event.
- 13:36Dayna Roselli: We just got done with the Grammys, the ACM awards.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: And BTS.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: BTS has been here for two weekends, and there's Backstreet Boys.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: It's just crazy, like at all these major, major events that are bringing in so many people, and now we've got the NFL draft.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: So moving right along, and we love it, definitely.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: Uh, something else that was you know a little bit closer to our heart is the killers.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: Ugh.
- 14:00Dayna Roselli: You know, because they are from Las Vegas, people love them.
- 14:02Dayna Roselli: We've seen them, I mean, you know, many, many times.
- 14:05Dayna Roselli: I remember watching them in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Hotel.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:09Dayna Roselli: In uh a kind of they kind of just built that, right?
- 14:12Sean McAllister: It was put up a stage in the parking lot.
- 14:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah, back in the day.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: And they've grown and people love them.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: And they did a special show over at the Chelsea Theater at the Cosmopolitan.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: They had one night scheduled, then they just they you know, sold so many tickets they just had to keep adding.
- 14:26Dayna Roselli: So they did three nights, they were all sold out.
- 14:29Dayna Roselli: Loved watching everyone's pictures and videos, and you and I were like super busy, as we said, April's been crazy, so we couldn't get to that, but people just raved about it.
- 14:38Sean McAllister: And I the sure sign that there is demand in Las Vegas for the hometown band, The Killers.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: Yeah, uh I saw multiple people uh who we who we know who were there all three nights.
- 14:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, like this was an event that they were not going to miss every single night.
- 15:01Sean McAllister: They needed to be there, take in these special performances because the killers really don't play here all that often.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: So it is special to be there in person and see them, especially since there are so many people who've uh been around Las Vegas a long time and have known the killers since they were playing bars, you know, like small, tiny, intimate bars and venues.
- 15:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: And before they really hit it big on the national scene, people have been following the band and you know, have that really cool connection.
- 15:36Sean McAllister: And Brandon Flowers, actually, I did see a video.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: Uh Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers.
- 15:43Sean McAllister: He was talking with the crowd and he said, You know what?
- 15:46Sean McAllister: He was like, I can't even put into words how special it is for us to feel so welcomed and so at home when we're on stage.
- 15:56Sean McAllister: And he was looking out at the hometown crowd, and he was like, You guys are doing that for us right now.
- 16:02Sean McAllister: He was like, That that's can't even find words for it.
- 16:05Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a it's a special time for them.
- 16:08Dayna Roselli: And um, I think we had also mentioned in the past they're doing arena shows and they're coming to T Mole Arena, but this theater, it's just such a more of an intimate experience.
- 16:16Dayna Roselli: So I think more people wanted to be at this that live here locally, without a doubt, than going to the even the arena show.
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: So um, switching gears a bit, uh, how was your birthday?
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: We're gonna talk about where you went to dinner on your birthday in your tips.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 16:31Dayna Roselli: But we also, the night before your birthday, we went over to visit Green Valley Ranch.
- 16:36Dayna Roselli: I know it's one of your favorite hotspots.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Um, it's a station casino, and we went to the Spring at the Terrace.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: And it's kind of like a pop-up.
- 16:45Dayna Roselli: They do a lot of different things like that at all the station casino properties.
- 16:49Dayna Roselli: You know, Red Rock's had many times different pop-ups during the holidays and during the spring, and um, but uh Green Valley Ranch has been doing the same thing.
- 16:57Dayna Roselli: They did something in the fall, and now they have spring at the terrace, and we figured let's go like have a little, you know, kind of more of a hang where we can all catch up, have some drinks, but be able to hear each other, sit outside because the weather's perfect this time of year, and we loved it.
- 17:12Sean McAllister: And it was so cute.
- 17:14Sean McAllister: So out on the terrace that overlooks the beautiful pool over at Green Valley Ranch, and they have uh like grapevines, they have their own little uh vineyard.
- 17:24Sean McAllister: I guess it's not a vineyard, they're not like producing wine, but they have uh sure it looks like it.
- 17:29Sean McAllister: They have vines, you know, grape vines out there, um, and it overlooks the view.
- 17:35Sean McAllister: You can see the Las Vegas Strip, the skyline in the in the distance.
- 17:40Sean McAllister: Um, but it was just such a cute setting.
- 17:44Sean McAllister: They had these greenhouses built, and we were sitting in one of the greenhouses, and it was a cute little setting with flowers and topiary dogs and uh lanterns and lights and flowers.
- 17:58Sean McAllister: It was just it was a pretty, I don't know, kind of mystical setting.
- 18:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: And you know, we posted some pictures of the drinks that we had and stuff.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: Everyone's asking about them.
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: What's in that?
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: That looks so cute.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: Are you drinking that out of a pot?
- 18:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's like it looks like a little potted like a flower pot.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: Like a flower pot.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: And so we were like, this is such a cute spring idea, right?
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: Why not?
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: But you gotta get the kinds that don't have the holes on the bottom, because you know a lot of the pots.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: You do.
- 18:20Sean McAllister: That was the first thing I looked at.
- 18:22Sean McAllister: I was like, wait a second, flower pots have holes in the bottom.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: Because you uh me and your friend Gretchen were saying these are so cute, we should just buy some and put, you know, that's such a great well, no, because when you buy them at like Home Depot and stuff, they have the holes in the bottom.
- 18:33Dayna Roselli: So you gotta, I don't know, find a way to maybe put some tape over it and and or hot glue.
- 18:38Dayna Roselli: Or hot glue or something.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: So or buy the kinds that are specifically for cooking.
- 18:43Dayna Roselli: Very true.
- 18:44Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 18:44Sean McAllister: But yeah, they're served with edible flowers as garnish, and the drinks were delicious.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: They were delicious.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: Very refreshing, the one that I had.
- 18:51Dayna Roselli: And it was we have the menu, and someone had asked me, you know, what's in this, what's in that?
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: I'm like, I knew because it was a it was a menu full of different kinds of cocktails, and I would never remember.
- 19:00Dayna Roselli: But the one that is in the potted flower pot is called down to earth.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: That's what it was, and it had all sorts of like um different kinds of things in it.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: It had lemon, cucumber tonic, it had violet, lemongrass vodka, blackberry vodka, so infused, all sorts of different stuff.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: There's a whole menu.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Go check it out.
- 19:22Dayna Roselli: It's called the the Spring at the Terrace at Green Valley Ranch.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: And then I got a flight of uh Prosecco and Rose.
- 19:30Sean McAllister: And that came uh kind of on a spiral tower of flowers, and it had these little arms sticking out to hold the glasses.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: Really cute presentation.
- 19:42Sean McAllister: Definitely, if uh you're in town and you have some evenings free, head out to uh Green Valley Ranch over on the east side of town in Henderson uh and hit up Spring at the Terrace.
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: And uh FYI, if you want to see what Sean's talking about, the rose flight and the drinks we're talking about, we have a whole montage on our TikTok.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: Vegas revealed on TikTok.
- 20:08Sean McAllister: And another whimsical environment on the strip is going to be at Vanderpump a Paris.
- 20:14Sean McAllister: This is Lisa Vanderpump's new uh restaurant drink spot over at Paris, Las Vegas.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: And when you walk by the one at Caesars, it does, you know, like you're saying, it kind of reminds you of spring in the terrace, right?
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: It does.
- 20:27Dayna Roselli: But I don't know what the one at Paris looks like yet.
- 20:29Dayna Roselli: So you and I are going to the opening.
- 20:30Dayna Roselli: It's supposed to be a star-studded event.
- 20:32Dayna Roselli: I know there's a lot of like talk about who's gonna be there, but we won't talk about that again until next week, because we're gonna go in a couple days here, and we'll roll that into our palms episode, let you know who was there, what kind of you know, things we heard, what it looks like inside, because it's a very, very popular spot at Caesars Palace, and we know that the one at Paris is gonna be just as popular, yes, especially for tourists.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, and Lisa Vanderpump knows what she's doing when she opens restaurants, so that'll be fun to be over there.
- 21:03Sean McAllister: Uh, let's switch back to music a little bit.
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Uh, Journey.
- 21:07Sean McAllister: We've had Journey perform here in Las Vegas many times.
- 21:11Sean McAllister: They performed over at the Hard Rock when it was the Hard Rock, and then uh they kind of recently performed over at Virgin at the theater at Virgin Hotels.
- 21:23Sean McAllister: Now they're moving venues.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: Journey has announced an exclusive Las Vegas show featuring a special symphony orchestra performance, which is pretty cool.
- 21:35Sean McAllister: I've never seen Journey with anybody else but Journey.
- 21:40Sean McAllister: So having an entire symphony orchestra to perform with them should be a really interesting experience.
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: I mean, that new theater at Resorts World is state of the art.
- 21:50Dayna Roselli: I wonder if you know people are wanting to get in there and like let's try something different because they have so many bells and whistles to play with.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 21:57Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: We talked about um, was it the E?
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: That are coming to do a special.
- 22:02Sean McAllister: Yeah, they're playing their Hotel California album.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Right, and they were doing and I think they were gonna have some extras too, an extra instrument section or something like that.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: So I love that people are are changing it up.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: But yeah, Journey's gonna be over there at the Resorts World Theater.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: It'll be July 15th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd.
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: Uh they have a limited number of VIP ticket packages available, and everything's on sale as of April 22nd.
- 22:26Dayna Roselli: If you want to go check out Journey at Resorts World, I love that.
- 22:29Sean McAllister: And they're great.
- 22:31Sean McAllister: Uh, totally different from Journey, RuPaul's Drag Race.
- 22:35Sean McAllister: That's the hit reality show where drag queens go head to head to try and become the best drag queen of the season.
- 22:42Sean McAllister: Uh, the finale of that show uh filmed right here in Las Vegas on the strip at Flamingo, Las Vegas.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: Of course, that's also where RuPaul's Drag Race Live, the ongoing resident stage show, is performed.
- 22:57Sean McAllister: And uh so we had some pretty big star power in the drag queen world here in Las Vegas for the finale.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: So when they shoot the finale, have they aired the finale or they just shot it already?
- 23:10Sean McAllister: So by the time people are listening to this, you will probably know who the winner is.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: Okay, got it.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: So that makes sense.
- 23:18Dayna Roselli: So it's it's close to the date, it's not like shot way, way, way in advance.
- 23:22Sean McAllister: Uh a couple weeks in advance, I guess.
- 23:25Sean McAllister: Or a week or so in advance, but I've uh read that they while they're filming that they uh film it so that each of the drag queens is the winner.
- 23:41Sean McAllister: So it narrows down to the final like two or three.
- 23:45Sean McAllister: Okay, and they film alternate endings.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: Oh nobody really knows who wins until the episode airs.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: Oh, interesting.
- 23:52Sean McAllister: I like the drag queen, like they have to film their their winning moment like they won, and then their competitor goes up, films their winning moment like they won.
- 24:06Sean McAllister: Right.
- 24:06Sean McAllister: And then it's not until the episode airs that people find out which ending is the real ending.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 24:14Sean McAllister: Which is a good way to do it.
- 24:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's a great way to do it for the live audience that's there, that keeps them guessing as well.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: Okay, so there's a live audience.
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: I don't watch it often, but listen, there are die hard fans, and people watch it all over the world.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: One of the biggest shows on TV.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: I had people texting me, like, what do you know about the finale being shot at the flamingos?
- 24:35Dayna Roselli: When, where, what time?
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: And I was like, listen, I know it's being done, but I don't know when, where, and what time.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: Um, and I didn't want just random people showing up, so and saying, Oh, Roselli sent me.
- 24:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I know it's it's a big deal.
- 24:48Dayna Roselli: Um, and we're happy to have the show here in Las Vegas and given us publicity.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: So one of the biggest shows on TV again, shot the finale live from Las Vegas, and that is awesome.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: And by the way, uh, mentioned RuPaul's Drag Race Live, the stage production that's held here in Las Vegas.
- 25:06Sean McAllister: Uh, two new queens are headed into that production.
- 25:10Sean McAllister: They've kind of developed this system of rotating the cast.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: So Ginger Minge is going to be the special guest host.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: Ginger Minge, you may know from RuPaul's Drag Race and All-Stars.
- 25:24Sean McAllister: Um, she is going to be in the show for five weeks only from April 28th to June 6th.
- 25:31Sean McAllister: I will be making a point to go over for that because Ginger Minge is hilarious.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 25:35Sean McAllister: Also, Jasmine Kennedy is going to be a special guest performer in the show for one month only from April 24th to May 23rd.
- 25:44Sean McAllister: So there's always a reason to go back and see RuPaul's Drag Race live as the cast of drag queens continues to evolve.
- 25:53Sean McAllister: Again, that's over at Flamingo, Las Vegas.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: All right, let's get to some tips.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: All right, Sean, let's start with your tip, and it's a visit to Carver Steak at Resorts World.
- 26:08Dayna Roselli: I had told you I looped through and just gave it a once-over look, but that we had planned on going there eventually.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: And so you made it a birthday event and went there on your birthday with some friends and your husband.
- 26:19Dayna Roselli: How was it?
- 26:20Sean McAllister: It was delicious.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: First of all, the atmosphere in there is kind of like a swanky kind of a 1950s retro steakhouse-y kind of vibe.
- 26:32Sean McAllister: I don't know if though that's exactly what they were going for, but that's how I explain it.
- 26:37SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 26:37Sean McAllister: Um, but it was just really nice, like dark blues and gold, and it was a great vibe in there.
- 26:45Sean McAllister: And uh the servers outfits, their jackets and their suits, loved those too.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: Almost like a green, like an aqua green color.
- 26:55Sean McAllister: And like almost a tuxedo jacket.
- 26:57Sean McAllister: Super classy.
- 26:59Sean McAllister: The food was delicious.
- 27:02Sean McAllister: Was it?
- 27:03Sean McAllister: So we started out by getting uh Wagyu beef sliders, and it's not like a burger slider.
- 27:09Sean McAllister: So these were kind of um almost like a uh a roast beef sandwich kind of thing.
- 27:16Sean McAllister: So the wagyu beef was thin shaved and then topped with like this uh delicious cheese sauce and served on these almost like a miniature toasted hoagie roll.
- 27:31Sean McAllister: Freaking phenomenal.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: I could have eaten uh 30 of those things.
- 27:35Dayna Roselli: That's easy to do.
- 27:36Sean McAllister: They were delicious.
- 27:37Sean McAllister: Uh then I ended up getting uh jumbo prawn cocktail, shrimp cocktail, which was fabulous.
- 27:46Sean McAllister: Uh and then I think I ended up getting a ribeye, which was also delicious.
- 27:54Sean McAllister: Um, and the sides, the mac and cheese, so yummy.
- 27:58Sean McAllister: Uh the Brussels sprouts, delicious.
- 28:02Sean McAllister: And there was one other side that we got.
- 28:04Sean McAllister: They have uh loaded baked loaded potato uh crustinies or I forget what they croquettes.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 28:15Sean McAllister: So it almost looked like a a mozzarella, a really fat mozzarella stick.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:20Sean McAllister: And it was filled with mashed potato and all the fixins.
- 28:23Sean McAllister: So the sour cream, like all the bacon in there, the cheese, all of that's mixed in and then breaded, a quick deep fry, and oh, it's just such a good bite, and there's a yummy sauce uh served on the side.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: So uh how is the pricing?
- 28:40Dayna Roselli: Um, because all that sounds amazing, but is it is it, you know, should you plan to spend a lot of money just to give people an idea because they like to know, well, is it expensive?
- 28:49Dayna Roselli: You should plan a healthy budget.
- 28:50Sean McAllister: I mean, it's a it's a nice d upscale steakhouse.
- 28:55Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 28:56Sean McAllister: Um, so definitely plan for that.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so a little bit, you know, adds up.
- 29:01Sean McAllister: Although I did go online and look, and it I do believe that they have a prefix menu online, and that was like$90 per person.
- 29:11Sean McAllister: Um, and that in you know, a multi-course menu.
- 29:15Sean McAllister: So, you know, if that gives you an idea.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: Sure.
- 29:18Dayna Roselli: Um were you underwhelmed by anything?
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: Was there any like out of all that, you're like, ah, you don't really need to order the Brussels sprouts, get this instead, or anything like that.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: I'm putting you on the spot, but just trying to think like when people go, is there like, okay, I Sean said this wasn't the best, but definitely get this.
- 29:35Dayna Roselli: Um or did you just love it all?
- 29:37Dayna Roselli: Because I mean there that that could be the case too at a good restaurant.
- 29:40Sean McAllister: No, I I really enjoyed everything, everything that we got.
- 29:43Sean McAllister: And um the one thing I will say is that their portions are I mean, they're pretty decent-sized portion.
- 29:53Sean McAllister: I had to bring half of my steak home.
- 29:56Sean McAllister: Okay, and we still had some sides left over, too.
- 29:58Sean McAllister: So that ended up being dinner the next night.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 30:02Sean McAllister: And okay, here's another tip for you.
- 30:04Sean McAllister: If you're reheating a steak, uh like a leftover from a nice restaurant like that, I looked up how to do it.
- 30:12Sean McAllister: Oh so you uh preheat the oven to 250, keep the put the meat in there on a wire tray that's on a baking sheet until the middle of the meat gets to 100 degrees, and then take the meat out of the oven, put it uh put it in a hot skillet to really get the outsides nice and re-seared and crusted up again.
- 30:40Sean McAllister: It was perfect.
- 30:41Sean McAllister: Oh, good.
- 30:42Sean McAllister: The middle was still nice and juicy, it wasn't overcooked, crispy on the outside, so that's how to reheat a steak from a nice steakhouse.
- 30:50Dayna Roselli: That's a good tip.
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: That was a good one.
- 30:52Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 30:53Sean McAllister: The other thing that I will say was really cool about Carver is that when your uh main dish does come, they bring over a box of knives that you choose from, all these different steak knives, and you get to choose your weapon.
- 31:08Sean McAllister: That's what it says inside the box.
- 31:09Sean McAllister: Choose your weapon, and then you dig into your meal.
- 31:13Dayna Roselli: Oh, I love that.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: That's a great, great, that's a great little added bonus, you know, and the it's part of the experience.
- 31:18Dayna Roselli: You've got to try different things.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: And we talk about Carver because it was a highly anticipated restaurant there at Resorts World.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: Resorts World has a lot of restaurants, but not tons.
- 31:26Dayna Roselli: You know, there's Wally's and there's a Mexican restaurant, which is great, and then there's also an Asian restaurant, which is amazing, and then there's a couple other Asian restaurants in sushi, and then they have the the food court, but there's not a lot of main anchor.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Oh, and then of course there's Bresa for the uh Italian restaurant.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: But I and I know it sounds like there's a lot, but for a huge mega resort, uh, we've been waiting for more restaurants to open.
- 31:50Sean McAllister: By the way, I meant to mention this to you, Dana.
- 31:52Sean McAllister: The place we went to lunch, I forget what it's called.
- 31:54Sean McAllister: It's right across from Doghouse.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, that closed a while ago.
- 31:59Sean McAllister: Yes, when I was walking by, it's totally gutted right now.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: Resort's world regularly.
- 32:03Dayna Roselli: Well, I know.
- 32:04Sean McAllister: It's totally gutted right now.
- 32:06Sean McAllister: They have the construction wall up, and there was an announcement about what's coming next.
- 32:11Sean McAllister: And for the life of me, I can't think about it now, so I'll have to go back and report back.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 32:17Dayna Roselli: Well, that's good to know.
- 32:18Dayna Roselli: Something else has come in there.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: There was a cute spot, and sometimes you open a resort, things just don't work out, or you know, you're like, I don't know, we need to tweak some things.
- 32:26Dayna Roselli: So expected, right?
- 32:28Sean McAllister: Uh, your tip this week, Dana, there's a been a lot of chatter about a story, and you've got some details.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, it's not I don't have tons of details, but I have details about, first of all, a land purchase on the strip because people are constantly asking, when are we gonna see some activity on this plot of land, or blah, blah, blah.
- 32:44Dayna Roselli: Um, and then I've got a little bit of inside info that doesn't really offer any info, if that makes sense.
- 32:51Sean McAllister: Got it.
- 32:52Dayna Roselli: So the Siegel Group, um, they operate the deli that I go to often now because it's brand new.
- 32:59Dayna Roselli: It's in Central Vegas.
- 33:00Dayna Roselli: I live near there.
- 33:01Dayna Roselli: It's called Bagel Mania, and it's right there on Convention Center Drive.
- 33:06Dayna Roselli: And they just bought some land right across from Resorts World to the north of the wind and kind of behind the peppermill diner.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: Now, that's kind of in the vicinity of where Bagelmania is.
- 33:19Dayna Roselli: So they purchased the land for a big price,$75 million, apparently.
- 33:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, folks were wondering, well, what are they gonna build there?
- 33:28Dayna Roselli: You know, it's a big like, is it gonna be a restaurant, a hotel?
- 33:31Dayna Roselli: And apparently they're looking at a lot of different concepts and things like that, but they wanted to get their hands on that land.
- 33:37Dayna Roselli: Now, people that go to the pepper mill were apparently walking out, saw the sign that the land was well.
- 33:42Dayna Roselli: So they were all thinking that peppermill was gonna close.
- 33:45Dayna Roselli: Pepper Mill gets on and tweets and says, no, no, we signed like a, I think they said we're here for at least another 10 years.
- 33:51Dayna Roselli: We signed a long contract, we're good to go.
- 33:53Dayna Roselli: People were relieved.
- 33:55Dayna Roselli: But I was at Bagel Mania recently, and I saw some of the family members, and I said, I heard you bought the land.
- 34:01Dayna Roselli: What are you gonna build?
- 34:02Dayna Roselli: And so I don't really have insider information.
- 34:05Dayna Roselli: I gotta, ooh, just wait and see.
- 34:08Dayna Roselli: So I was hopeful that it's gonna be something exciting, but that's about all I got.
- 34:12Dayna Roselli: But I thought it was an interesting, you know, nugget because there's land around there that the the old area where um the wet and wild used to sit on the strip.
- 34:20Dayna Roselli: There's an area that's empty right across from me and just to the south of the Sahara where the Allnet Arena is apparently gonna be built.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: But until those things start happening, there is a lot of space in the north end of the strip.
- 34:32Dayna Roselli: And now that the Fountain Blue is going up and gonna be finished, is gonna, I should say, be topped off and finished, and the resorts world is there now.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: I think people are looking to fill in those holes.
- 34:42Dayna Roselli: So we have hope.
- 34:43Sean McAllister: Great, yes.
- 34:44Sean McAllister: I am all for the the future of the north end of the strip.
- 34:49Sean McAllister: I'm excited about that.
- 34:50Sean McAllister: Fountain blue is going to be gorgeous and beautiful when that opens.
- 34:54Sean McAllister: That'll be a great addition.
- 34:55Sean McAllister: And you know, if we have another arena up there, Dana, uh we're gonna be pre-gaming at your place and just walking over.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: Seriously.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: I mean, I'm gonna have a lot of action.
- 35:04Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna have to deal with the uh what do you call it, the construction as it starts.
- 35:09Dayna Roselli: But uh but it should be fun.
- 35:11Dayna Roselli: Um, we need to go because we're going to the new Lake of Dreams at the win.
- 35:15Dayna Roselli: We've got an event to get to in two hours, and I gotta go home and change.
- 35:18Dayna Roselli: Then uh, as Sean mentioned, we're going to uh Vanderpump's new restaurant on Thursday.
- 35:22Dayna Roselli: We'll be at John Legend on Friday.
- 35:24Dayna Roselli: I'm going to check out the pool club at Resorts World on Sunday.
- 35:28Dayna Roselli: Gosh, we have the palms opening on Tuesday, the NFL draft on Wednesday.
- 35:33Dayna Roselli: What else?
- 35:34Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have tons of stuff coming up, guys, that we're going to be talking about.
- 35:37Dayna Roselli: I'm going to a great benefit and fashion show with the win on the following Friday.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: And I think the list goes on.
- 35:44Dayna Roselli: But next week we're going to focus a lot on the palms.
- 35:47Sean McAllister: We are.
- 35:47Sean McAllister: We'll have some new interviews.
- 35:49Sean McAllister: We'll talk about what's old that's staying, what's new, all of the iconic spots inside that property and what's being done with them.
- 36:00Sean McAllister: You'll have all those answers next week on episode 116 of Vegas Revealed.
