- Lucas: Hej, og velkommen til Episode 104 of Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and with me is the always stylish Luna. Luna: Hej! Stylish? Well, I do try. Today we're talking about clothes, right? Lucas: That's right. We're going to learn some basic clothing words in Danish. And we'll start with something you might wear on a nice day out. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. What's the first word? Lucas: Let's start with en skjorte. That means 'a shirt'. Luna: En skjorte. A shirt. Got it. Lucas: Good. Now say it with me: en skjorte. Luna: En skjorte. Lucas: Perfect. And if you want to say 'a nice shirt', you can say en pæn skjorte. But for now, just en skjorte. Luna: En skjorte. That feels good. What's next? Lucas: Next up: en kjole. That's 'a dress'. Luna: En kjole. Like a summer dress? Lucas: Exactly. En kjole can be any dress. Try saying it. Luna: En kjole. Lucas: Excellent. And now, for when it gets chilly: en jakke, 'a jacket'. Luna: En jakke. I need one of those in Copenhagen. Lucas: You do. Let's hear it: en jakke. Luna: En jakke. Lucas: Good. And last one: en hat, 'a hat'. Luna: En hat. Like a sun hat or a winter hat? Lucas: Any hat. En hat. Say it. Luna: En hat. Lucas: Great. So we have en skjorte, en kjole, en jakke, en hat. Let's do a quick round: I'll say the English, you say the Danish. Luna: Okay. Lucas: A shirt. Luna: En skjorte. Lucas: A dress. Luna: En kjole. Lucas: A jacket. Luna: En jakke. Lucas: A hat. Luna: En hat. Lucas: You're a natural. Now let's put them in a sentence. Say: 'I have a shirt.' Luna: Jeg har en skjorte. Lucas: Exactly. And 'I have a dress.' Luna: Jeg har en kjole. Lucas: Perfect. And 'I have a jacket.' Luna: Jeg har en jakke. Lucas: And 'I have a hat.' Luna: Jeg har en hat. Lucas: See? You're already making sentences. Now, let's imagine you're going out. You tell me: 'I have a jacket and a hat.' Luna: Jeg har en jakke og en hat. Lucas: Perfect. And if you want to say 'a red jacket', you say en rød jakke. But we'll save colors for another day. For now, just focus on the clothing words. Luna: That's helpful. These are all 'en' words, right? So they use 'en'? Lucas: Exactly. All four are 'en' words. In Danish, nouns have genders—'en' or 'et'. These are all 'en'. Luna: Good to know. So if I see a nice shirt in a shop, I can say 'Jeg kan godt lide den skjorte'? Or just 'en skjorte'? Lucas: You could say 'Jeg kan godt lide den skjorte'—that means 'I like that shirt'. But let's stick with the basic vocabulary for now. You're doing great. Luna: Tusind tak, Lucas. These words are easy to remember. I think I'll practice by naming everything in my closet. Lucas: That's a great idea. And speaking of practice, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Danish, you might consider supporting the show. A few listeners already chip in monthly at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, and that's what keeps these episodes coming ad-free. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to help us keep going. We really appreciate it. Lucas: So back to clothing. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're getting dressed for a party. You say: 'I have a dress and a hat.' Luna: Jeg har en kjole og en hat. Lucas: And your friend says: 'I have a shirt and a jacket.' Luna: Jeg har en skjorte og en jakke. Lucas: Great job. Now, to wrap up, let's repeat all four words one more time. I'll say the English, you say the Danish. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Shirt. Luna: En skjorte. Lucas: Dress. Luna: En kjole. Lucas: Jacket. Luna: En jakke. Lucas: Hat. Luna: En hat. Lucas: Perfect. And remember, you can use them in sentences like 'Jeg har en skjorte' or 'Jeg har en jakke'. Practice these until we meet again. Luna: Tak for i dag, Lucas. I feel ready to go shopping in Danish. Lucas: Det var så lidt. Keep practicing, and vi ses næste gang.
