- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to. Record a podcast to.
- 0:15Teach distinctions, possibilities, new ways of
- 0:18thinking, and just bring some joy into the world.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey everybody, good morning from
- 0:28the chicken coop. I'm so happy to be out here.
- 0:31It's warmer. It's.
- 0:32Later. It's sunnier, the girls are all
- 0:35laying eggs and having breakfast and just this is like a joyful
- 0:39moment and. I'm sitting.
- 0:41Here on this little bench that I have under their big oak tree
- 0:45that's in their coop. And I'm, I was just
- 0:48contemplating like, OK, what do I want to do this year
- 0:52differently out here on, you know, the farm in general?
- 0:57What do I want to grow? What are all the things today,
- 0:59you know, will be a time when I actually really start digging in
- 1:04and thinking, I finished all the paperwork I had to do for
- 1:06business. And now I'm like, OK, I'm going
- 1:09to start letting my imagination run wild.
- 1:12But before I do that, you know, figuring out what have I learned
- 1:16this year and what are the things that I know I, I really,
- 1:21I did not like the results of and how do I incorporate that?
- 1:25Because to me, always remembering what you've learned
- 1:28is extremely important. And most of the time when we
- 1:31start thinking about that, we, we force ourselves to try to
- 1:34figure out what was good. Like, well, you know, OK, like,
- 1:37OK, that I learned this and I learned this and I learned this
- 1:40great. But don't forget what didn't
- 1:42work. And there's some things that I
- 1:43definitely can equate that to here in the chicken coop with
- 1:48the girls, certain things that I know I need, like they're dust
- 1:53bathing bath area, like they'll dust bathe anywhere.
- 1:55But I want them using certain things so their feathers stay
- 1:59nice, but also so they don't have problems with bugs or mites
- 2:03or anything like that. And knock on wood, as I do, we
- 2:06have never had an issue with that inside the coop or outside
- 2:10the coop. But I need a better area.
- 2:11I need something that they're interested in.
- 2:14And this is the crazy thing, I also learned from a good
- 2:17standpoint that they love variety.
- 2:18So the same things over and over aren't great for them.
- 2:21They love variety and they like to see things different.
- 2:24They're curious and, and on the, you know, the side that I can
- 2:28say what didn't work is I have historically just had their dust
- 2:32bathing area in one little spot on the side.
- 2:35And then they, they'll find spaces all around the farm,
- 2:37which they'll continue to do. But again, I can learn something
- 2:41from this. So not even just in this like I,
- 2:44I can say with the garden, I've really learned that a lot of the
- 2:48stuff that I grew, I didn't get to use to its fullest potential
- 2:52because I didn't have a spot for drying.
- 2:54So all the herbs that I had and they did really well, I couldn't
- 2:59dry them, which is so wasteful to me.
- 3:02So that's going to be a big fix. And you know, we've got lots of
- 3:05things in mind for how we want to change it, but it's all
- 3:08predicated on mindset of like, OK, what do we want to make this
- 3:12place be? Now, at the same time, I do have
- 3:14dual mindsets because this thing is this farm is really, it's a
- 3:18magical place for me. And it is a it's kind of like
- 3:25it's out of my imagination in many ways.
- 3:27I really can't begin to tell you Sitting here on this bench with
- 3:31the sun beaming down for the first time in days and the
- 3:33warmth coming through and looking at what's, you know, in
- 3:37front of me, I just get so excited because it's pure
- 3:40potential. It's just something that like,
- 3:42oh, it just makes me smile every time I see it.
- 3:46And I think what's so important for us as human beings to
- 3:50remember is sometimes you have to get yourself excited about
- 3:55things, sometimes you, but you also have to figure out what
- 3:57didn't work. So I'm going to be making a big
- 4:00fat list of all of that today. I had done it before in December
- 4:04when I debriefed myself. I'm going to go back to that.
- 4:07And I'm going to also add to it because there are things I
- 4:10learned through this winter so far about this harshness of this
- 4:13winter that I would definitely want to fix.
- 4:15So I think the the overall message that I want to impart on
- 4:20you today is keep learning. Don't be afraid to ask what when
- 4:24you were learning, what didn't work?
- 4:27Do a deep dive into that as much as you do the deep dive into
- 4:30what does work. And then compare your notes and
- 4:33make your possibilities to go forward or your outcomes, goals,
- 4:37whatever you want to call it, to go forward because that's
- 4:39exactly what I'm about to do. All right, my friends, I hope
- 4:42you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 4:45Bye.
