Speaker 1: This is what you need to know now. A strong
• 0:07
  Speaker 1: aftershock rattles Venezuela.
• 0:09
Speaker 2: Ooh just had an alf to show.
• 0:11
Speaker 1: As rescue workers race to find survivors. The Supreme Court
• 0:15
Speaker 1: justice is handing down multiple new opinions and why Princess
• 0:19
Speaker 1: Kay climbed to three of the highest mountains in the UK.
• 0:22
Speaker 1: I'm Rachel Scott from ABC News. It is Monday, June
• 0:24
Speaker 1: twenty ninth, and here's the big story. The Supreme Court
• 0:27
Speaker 1: justices have ruled that stats can count late arriving mail
• 0:30
Speaker 1: in ballots, rejecting a challenge from the Republican National Committee.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: Devin Dwyer is falling it all.
• 0:36
Speaker 3: This was a five to four decision by the Supreme
• 0:38
Speaker 3: Court in an opinion written by Justice Amy Cony Barrett,
• 0:41
Speaker 3: the youngest conservative on the bench, upholding a Mississippi law
• 0:45
Speaker 3: that allows the late arriving ballots update five days after
• 0:49
Speaker 3: election day to get counted in that state and effectively
• 0:52
Speaker 3: preserves a similar statutes in twenty nine states around the
• 0:56
Speaker 3: country that have a grace period for voters who don't
• 1:00
Speaker 3: get their ballots in by election day but a short
• 1:03
Speaker 3: period after. This was a decision based largely on federal
• 1:07
Speaker 3: law where Justice Barrett saying that federal law says nothing
• 1:11
Speaker 3: about late arriving ballots or the county thereof. Therefore, states
• 1:15
Speaker 3: have the ability to set their own policies, and that
• 1:18
Speaker 3: means those policies now basically will stay in place, both
• 1:21
Speaker 3: for the midterms and likely beyond, upending what many had
• 1:25
Speaker 3: hoped would be a change in policy, specifically Republicans who
• 1:29
Speaker 3: brought this challenge. Of course, President Trump very supportive of.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: That as well, and another decision, the Supreme Court dramatically
• 1:35
Speaker 1: expanded presidential power, upholding President Trump's firings and the heads
• 1:39
Speaker 1: of independent federal agencies, with one exception, the Federal Reserve.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: The Supreme Court also agreed to hear six cases next term,
• 1:46
Speaker 1: including a high stakes Arizona voting case over whether states
• 1:50
Speaker 1: can require proof of citizenship to register to vote. Next
• 1:53
Speaker 1: a major development from the Middle East, President Trump says
• 1:56
Speaker 1: Iran has requested a meeting, which is set to take
• 1:59
Speaker 1: place tomorrow Cutter, but Irani officials say no meeting is scheduled.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: It comes after a weekend of escalation with Iran launching
• 2:06
Speaker 1: missiles and drones at US military sites across the Middle East,
• 2:09
Speaker 1: including in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to US strikes
• 2:13
Speaker 1: inside Iran. Those strikes came after Iron targeted an oil
• 2:16
Speaker 1: tanker in the strait of her Moves. The tensions have
• 2:19
Speaker 1: sent oil prices even higher, but there's some relief at
• 2:22
Speaker 1: the pump. The national average for a gallon of gas
• 2:25
Speaker 1: has fallen about sixty cents over the last month to
• 2:28
Speaker 1: three dollars and seventy nine cents a gallon. That's still
• 2:31
Speaker 1: about eighty five cents higher than before the conflict with
• 2:34
Speaker 1: Iran began. The other big story that we are following

• 3:13
Speaker 1: James was there when the ground started shaking.
• 3:17
Speaker 2: Oh, that's a that's an after shock. Ooh just had
• 3:22
Speaker 2: an after shock. Everyone has. That's sent a lot of panic.
• 3:25
Speaker 2: Take a look down here. People are running away from
• 3:28
Speaker 2: the buildings because that is the level of terror and
• 3:31
Speaker 2: fear here that something could be about to hit again.
• 3:34
Speaker 2: I think that is just an after shock, but no
• 3:36
Speaker 2: one here knows. That's the problem. And when you've got
• 3:38
Speaker 2: destruction like this, when you can see what an earthquake

Speaker 1: Wales finished the trek for charity just over a year
• 4:37
Speaker 1: after announcing that her cancer was in remission. Kate said
