- 0:04Speaker 1: This production is brought to you by the Resas Bell.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hello everybody, my name is Justin Greenberg, and this is
- 0:12Speaker 2: the film Real And we've been talking a lot about
- 0:15Speaker 2: Disney movies lately on this program. In fact, I just
- 0:19Speaker 2: saw The Lion King in theaters for its thirtieth anniversary,
- 0:22Speaker 2: and I can't believe that that movie is thirty years old.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I saw that in theaters a few times. I remember
- 0:31Speaker 2: going with my grandma and my brother specifically for that
- 0:34Speaker 2: first showing of The Lion King, and it was such
- 0:37Speaker 2: a juggernaut of a film, becoming the highest grossing animated
- 0:41Speaker 2: movie of all time. And it was everywhere. I mean,
- 0:45Speaker 2: you had the bed sheets, you had lunchboxes, t shirts,
- 0:50Speaker 2: a thermos, you know. The VHS tape was in every
- 0:54Speaker 2: kid's household. We had the soundtrack on cassette tape. This
- 0:59Speaker 2: movie was it for nineties kids, and it was such
- 1:05Speaker 2: a treat to see it in theaters again thirty years later.
- 1:09Speaker 2: In fact, while I'm recording this, I just actually got
- 1:12Speaker 2: back from my grandma's house and we just watched it
- 1:16Speaker 2: and that was probably the first time I've seen it
- 1:18Speaker 2: with her in years, maybe maybe thirty years, maybe, Since
- 1:23Speaker 2: it's you know, initial release back in nineteen ninety four.
- 1:26Speaker 2: But I was talking about Disney movies and The Lion
- 1:29Speaker 2: King on my radio show, The Radio Rumble that's Saturday's
- 1:32Speaker 2: twelve to two on the Voice of Nasau Community College
- 1:36Speaker 2: ninety point three WHPC, and somebody that works at the station.
- 1:41Speaker 2: My friend Gina happened to walk into the studio as
- 1:44Speaker 2: I was listening to Hans Zimmer's score from that movie,
- 1:48Speaker 2: and she was like, is everything okay, because you're kind
- 1:51Speaker 2: of emotional, you know, playing this this music. And I
- 1:54Speaker 2: was just telling her, yeah, I was just sort of reflecting,
- 1:57Speaker 2: you know, about my childhood, about that it's been thirty
- 1:59Speaker 2: years since this movie came out. And then that developed
- 2:02Speaker 2: into a great discussion about Disney and just you know,
- 2:07Speaker 2: why Disney is so important to us, some of the
- 2:09Speaker 2: flaws with Disney, and just just a fun conversation. But
- 2:13Speaker 2: The Lion King, I think one of the main reasons
- 2:16Speaker 2: for its success was the fact that it was geared
- 2:21Speaker 2: towards boys and girls, where a lot of these Disney films.
- 2:26Speaker 2: You know, maybe in twenty twenty four, it's not politically
- 2:29Speaker 2: correct to say, but you know, when you were growing up,
- 2:33Speaker 2: you thought Okay, that's a girl's movie. I can't watch
- 2:36Speaker 2: that that's got a princess in it. So boys wouldn't
- 2:39Speaker 2: want to watch movies like The Little Mermaid. I'm not
- 2:41Speaker 2: saying every boy wouldn't want to, but there was sort
- 2:44Speaker 2: of like a stigma, like, you know, my sister watches
- 2:46Speaker 2: The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, us boys
- 2:49Speaker 2: watch Aladdin and Hercules. But boys loved The Lion King,
- 2:53Speaker 2: but vice versa. Girls loved it equally as much. And
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think that's why it resonated with that entire generation
- 3:02Speaker 2: and became such a global phenomenon. And this this franchise
- 3:06Speaker 2: is worth so much money. I just looked it up,
- 3:09Speaker 2: over eleven billion dollars. Because you got to think of
- 3:12Speaker 2: all the merchandise that they still sell at every target
- 3:16Speaker 2: and hot topic. There's always gonna be Lion King merchandise.
- 3:19Speaker 2: The Broadway show is still going strong, the theme park attractions.
- 3:24Speaker 2: They've had sequels on VHS direct to video that you know,
- 3:29Speaker 2: don't really do the justice of the original movie. And
- 3:32Speaker 2: then don't get me started about my live action Disney remakes.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I just can't stand them. But Lionking is something that
- 3:40Speaker 2: will be around I think for another thirty years, for
- 3:42Speaker 2: another one hundred years. It's timeless obviously. You know it's
- 3:47Speaker 2: loosely based off of the Shakespeare you know, Hamlet play,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and yeah, I love it. I love it, the music,
- 3:54Speaker 2: the animation, all of that. But let's talk some Disney
- 3:58Speaker 2: with my good friend Gina. Oh my goodness, gracious Hans Zimmer,
- 4:05Speaker 2: remember from the Lion King. Writing on the radio rumbled
- 4:08Speaker 2: voice of Nasau Community College at any point three w HPC,
- 4:11Speaker 2: my name is justin joining me is my friend Gina. Gina,
- 4:14Speaker 2: how's it going.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Hey, it's going good. You thought I was.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Like going through some emotional stuff.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I really thought there was like a death in the family.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You needed a little a little happiness.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I was listening to The Lion King. I have
- 4:30Speaker 2: like sweating and just I'm feeling emotional from But everything's doing.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Good, Okay good.
- 4:36Speaker 2: I've never had a Choco taco, as we were discussing rhyme,
- 4:39Speaker 2: but I'm not against it. It's just there were better options.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Oh I don't know with their better options. I've never
- 4:44Speaker 2: had it. So I'm gonna give a fair assessment. Next week,
- 4:48Speaker 2: if I find an ice cream man, I will have
- 4:50Speaker 2: a Choco Taco.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Don't think they make them anymore? No, yeah, no, I
- 4:54Speaker 1: think they're discontinued. You're lying. No, I'm pretty sure they don't.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Just are Choco tacos coming back? That means they're not there, right.
- 5:05Speaker 1: They discontinued? Oh no, no oh.
- 5:08Speaker 2: The Choco taco is resurfacing again, nearly two years after
- 5:11Speaker 2: Klondyke's iconic Choco taco was discontinued, another branding, the popular
- 5:16Speaker 2: frozen treat back what's the brand? In honor of single Demyo,
- 5:19Speaker 2: Coldstone Creamery will introduce its own take on the fan
- 5:23Speaker 2: favorite ice cream.
- 5:24Speaker 1: All right, so you're gonna have to go to Coldstone then.
- 5:26Speaker 2: But maybe that was just a single Demiyo thing. And
- 5:28Speaker 2: then it's not the same thing. It's not the Yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 2: it's not the Klondike brand.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Oh, the chocotaco is so good.
- 5:34Speaker 2: There's a lot of food and there's a lot of
- 5:36Speaker 2: things that are no longer around anymore.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's what it is. You know.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I used to go to the movie theaters in Rockville
- 5:41Speaker 2: Center and they still have that theater. But across the
- 5:44Speaker 2: street was my pizza place, mister Masili's.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I used to go there. I used to work at.
- 5:48Speaker 2: The movie theater, and every day I'd go get a
- 5:51Speaker 2: Grandpa Slice, another grand Mass slice. There was a Grandpas Slights.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Don't ask me what it was.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It was just delicious. I think that's just vodka saus
- 5:59Speaker 1: instead of regular.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But it had like a spice to it, and it
- 6:02Speaker 2: was thick, and it was just it was so good. Gina,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and I wish I could just go back in time, yeah,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and have that and maybe have a Choco taco, but
- 6:13Speaker 2: we can't do that. But if you want to travel
- 6:15Speaker 2: back in time, I always recommend watching some old movies
- 6:20Speaker 2: because that takes you back to your childhood. At least
- 6:24Speaker 2: it does for me. And nothing I think is more
- 6:27Speaker 2: so the case than watching Disney Classics. When I was
- 6:30Speaker 2: a kid, we had all the Disney movies on those
- 6:32Speaker 2: clamshell vant tapes. Yes, And my sister texted me today
- 6:37Speaker 2: and my family. She was like, do we have Beauty
- 6:40Speaker 2: in the Beast Diamond edition because it's worth thirty thousand
- 6:44Speaker 2: dollars And I'm like, it's not.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It's not.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Don't get you, it's not. This is one of those
- 6:49Speaker 2: like things that an old person would get fooled in.
- 6:52Speaker 1: My sister's thirty, Like my mom.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I was expecting to be like, do we have this,
- 6:57Speaker 2: it's worth Like you know, my mom, someone I got
- 7:00Speaker 2: scammed by a guy who's like, you know, I need
- 7:03Speaker 2: your computer information because you're you're getting hacked. And she
- 7:08Speaker 2: literally had like ten thousand dollars taken from her bankingcoun
- 7:10Speaker 2: So I was expecting my sister to not be as
- 7:13Speaker 2: dumb as you know, a seven year old woman, but
- 7:16Speaker 2: she fell for the headline article saying that this VHS
- 7:20Speaker 2: tape was worth a lot of money. It's not. Do
- 7:22Speaker 2: not go searching in your attic or do not go
- 7:25Speaker 2: to garage sales thinking that you're finding something that is valuable.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Majority of VHS tapes, unfortunately, are not valuable. There are
- 7:33Speaker 2: some that hold value a lot of horror movies, especially
- 7:37Speaker 2: like non bigger films like like Scream on VHS you
- 7:42Speaker 2: could find anywhere at any.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Thrift shop for a dollar.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Bitch like yeah, like random b level eighties films that
- 7:50Speaker 2: had a very small release on VHS if you have
- 7:53Speaker 2: them sealed and graded, believe it or not, they grade
- 7:56Speaker 2: these like comic books and baseball cars get graded. Oh wow,
- 8:00Speaker 2: you could grade VHS tapes. I think it's a big scam.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I've actually watched videos talking about how it's a gigantic scam.
- 8:06Speaker 2: It feels like the people that are selling these things
- 8:10Speaker 2: are involved with the company that are great. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 2: but but you know, back to what we were talking about, Yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 2: you know our Disney classics and Disney villains, because I
- 8:22Speaker 2: watched this movie Lion King a couple of days ago
- 8:25Speaker 2: Thursday night, and I was thinking, Scar is probably the
- 8:29Speaker 2: greatest Disney villain of all time.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Really, he's number one.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I think he's my number one. Jeremy Iron's voice is so.
- 8:38Speaker 1: So iconic, it's so good, so good.
- 8:41Speaker 2: It's so weird, and we don't have time to get
- 8:43Speaker 2: into my hatred of the live action remakes of these
- 8:47Speaker 2: movies we've talked about, we've probably but it's weird that
- 8:52Speaker 2: they were, like, we gott to bring James Earl Jones back,
- 8:56Speaker 2: but like, why is Jeremy Irons not brought back as Scar?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah? Who was Scar?
- 9:00Speaker 2: I couldn't say, Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I couldn't tell you.
- 9:02Speaker 2: But it's just weird that one guy's iconic voice was
- 9:04Speaker 2: brought back and the others wasn't. And now they're making
- 9:08Speaker 2: a moufasa prequel because people were asking for that, and oh.
- 9:13Speaker 1: My god, James Earl Jones, I mean, he's only a
- 9:15Speaker 1: day's left to feel. I don't think he's voicing Oh
- 9:18Speaker 1: he is it?
- 9:19Speaker 2: No?
- 9:19Speaker 1: No, how are you gonna do moufasa?
- 9:22Speaker 2: I'm assuming he's gotta sound similar. I think they have
- 9:25Speaker 2: trailers out there. I tend to not pay attention to
- 9:27Speaker 2: trailers when they're I.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Know there is a trailer trailer yet I.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Don't know if I heard his voice in the trailer,
- 9:33Speaker 2: but it's definitely not James Earl Jones. But they've had
- 9:36Speaker 2: a I actually do a lot of James Earl Jones's
- 9:40Speaker 2: stuff before, for like Star Wars.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Oh, and then just fixed it up. Yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 2: So I don't know if they're doing this. I don't
- 9:48Speaker 2: know what they're going to be doing. I just it's lazy.
- 9:50Speaker 2: But whatever, Let's get back to the bread and butter
- 9:52Speaker 2: of this discussion. And that is the greatest Disney villain
- 9:55Speaker 2: because I really think it's scar and I think that song.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Be prepared iconic.
- 9:59Speaker 2: It's so but and it's actually not in the live
- 10:02Speaker 2: live action and I put that in quotations live action remake.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's not there.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I think people were saying, because there's like Nazi imagery
- 10:10Speaker 2: in that film, you know, yeah, yeah, like the sort
- 10:15Speaker 2: of doing like a walk. Yeah, but it's like, are
- 10:20Speaker 2: the Nazis not evil? Are the Hyenas on evil? So
- 10:24Speaker 2: I mean that story tells about a really horrendous things
- 10:28Speaker 2: that deals with life and death and leaving your family
- 10:31Speaker 2: and being ashamed. I mean, no kid's going to be like,
- 10:34Speaker 2: that's Nazis, but I think it's good for adults to
- 10:36Speaker 2: be like, whoa, that's pretty heavy. They're doing that sort
- 10:39Speaker 2: of imagery there, So I don't know why they.
- 10:42Speaker 1: That's the first time I'm hearing about it, and now
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'm like connecting the dots.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. Disney's just a weird company and.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Weird company, but great movies for.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The most part, for the most part, the most part.
- 10:53Speaker 2: They've had a few turds out there in the last
- 10:55Speaker 2: couple of years. But I have Scar as ultimate Ville.
- 10:59Speaker 2: He's he's knni. He's not powerful like he's he's sort
- 11:02Speaker 2: of like the Joker in the sense that he can't
- 11:05Speaker 2: go toe to toe with Mufasa. Now the Joker can't
- 11:08Speaker 2: go toe to toe with Batman in a street fight,
- 11:10Speaker 2: but he can outsmart him him if Joker cannot smart Batman.
- 11:13Speaker 2: But he's sick and statistic, and he's willing to sacrifice
- 11:16Speaker 2: his nephew and you know, have him be you know,
- 11:20Speaker 2: trampled by a stampede. He's willing to go above and
- 11:23Speaker 2: beyond to get the power of being the king. It's
- 11:27Speaker 2: so interesting, it's so funny. I've read some memes of
- 11:30Speaker 2: like the final battle in in the Lion King is
- 11:34Speaker 2: an elderly lion versus a lion. I was eating bugs
- 11:38Speaker 2: for the last twenty years. Does ever think about it?
- 11:40Speaker 2: It's really not epic. But I have Scar number one,
- 11:44Speaker 2: who can talk Scar as far as Disney villains in
- 11:48Speaker 2: your mind? And then I got a list will go.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Over Okay, so my number one I think I have
- 11:53Speaker 1: like one A and one B good would be Hades
- 11:56Speaker 1: from Hercules.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I didn't even write him down, what because I didn't
- 12:01Speaker 2: think of it.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I love it.
- 12:03Speaker 2: I love the performance in Great Call. I love Hercules.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I wrote Hercules in my top five favorite Disney movie.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Good Good.
- 12:09Speaker 2: He's funny, he's sick the but he doesn't have a song.
- 12:13Speaker 1: He doesn't have a song, but he's so like seriously funny. Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 1: it masks over not having a song.
- 12:20Speaker 2: But is he frightening? I think I think Scar can
- 12:26Speaker 2: be funny because of how sick he is, and you
- 12:29Speaker 2: know he's making uh Iago sing the song uh but
- 12:35Speaker 2: you know, on the flick of a finger, he could
- 12:38Speaker 2: become sadistic and scaring evil. I always thought Hades was
- 12:42Speaker 2: maybe a little too funny. I never felt like he's
- 12:46Speaker 2: like Scar. Want to be left in a room alone
- 12:49Speaker 2: with that guy. He seems like fun Actually, I want
- 12:51Speaker 2: to hang out like I would hang out with him.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It's still a really good choice. I have no issue
- 12:55Speaker 2: with that.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Who's your one ursula?
- 12:58Speaker 2: I wrote down ursula?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Yeah, those are like my one, A one B. I
- 13:01Speaker 1: really those and Scar like, those are the only three
- 13:05Speaker 1: that stand out to me honestly.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Well, let's let's head to Variety dot com and their
- 13:10Speaker 2: list at their number ten, I have on my list
- 13:13Speaker 2: for top five.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Jafar I was, I was on the tip of my tongueyeah, Jafar,
- 13:17Speaker 1: he was, Okay, what.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Do you mean?
- 13:19Speaker 1: Okay? Now he doesn't have a song. Yeah, he doesn't
- 13:21Speaker 1: have a song. He's got that snake thing that holds
- 13:24Speaker 1: his power.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's he's willing to go above and beyond
- 13:28Speaker 2: and again more of a cerebral thing. There was a
- 13:31Speaker 2: lot of movies back then.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Where like lower lonelier.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Like I just had a stroke mid sentence, like lower
- 13:40Speaker 2: tier type characters tried to rise to power. Yes, and
- 13:44Speaker 2: that was like a common theme because like Lion King
- 13:46Speaker 2: is that and Jaffar in Aladdin is that?
- 13:50Speaker 1: I don't know that? Yeah, I don't. Yeah, Hades is that.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I don't have Jafar in my top three, but I
- 13:56Speaker 2: definitely would have him in top five.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Captain Hook comes to it, you're going on, we're going
- 14:01Speaker 1: deep cut.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I think as like some of those classic movies go
- 14:05Speaker 2: you gotta have Captain Hook in there. Number eight they
- 14:08Speaker 2: have humans from Bambi, So like the guy off screen
- 14:12Speaker 2: that shot Bamby's mom spoiler alert, Yeah for this eighty
- 14:16Speaker 2: year old movie. I mean that scene is very emotional,
- 14:20Speaker 2: but it is you can't put a face to the human.
- 14:24Speaker 2: So I don't know if that I have no issue
- 14:26Speaker 2: with that being in the top ten.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Okay, from Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, is that just the evil
- 14:34Speaker 1: stepsister stepmother?
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, the evil stepmother from Cinderella. I was talking
- 14:40Speaker 2: about how some of those movies felt like girl movies,
- 14:44Speaker 2: and I always felt like The Lion King was not
- 14:47Speaker 2: It was boy movie, girl movie. Girls can love it,
- 14:50Speaker 2: boys could love it. I mean boys can obviously love Cinderella.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Also, but it's a princess movie, which is why I.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Think Lion King was so successful. It made almost a
- 14:58Speaker 2: billion dollars because little girls want to see it and
- 15:01Speaker 2: little boys want to see it.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 2: You know what, I've never seen this movie, and I
- 15:07Speaker 2: know that's gonna be sacrilege to some people, so I'm
- 15:10Speaker 2: gonna pronounce the name wrong. It's the girl from The
- 15:12Speaker 2: Emperor's New Groove.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Oh it's y z M. Yeah, yeah, you're right.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I've heard very good things about that movie.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Amazing movie. It's like relatively new. Yeah.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's twenty five years old, but it's a new movie.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 2: And it's one of the last hand drawn animated movies
- 15:32Speaker 2: for Disney, which sucks for Andron animation is so good,
- 15:36Speaker 2: and I feel like you could get such variety all
- 15:38Speaker 2: those like CGI movies. They all look the same for
- 15:41Speaker 2: the most part, Like the characters in all the Pixar
- 15:44Speaker 2: movies feel like they're in one unis. But you know,
- 15:46Speaker 2: a character from the Jungle Book necessarily wouldn't fit in Fantasia,
- 15:50Speaker 2: and Fantasia, you know, wouldn't fit in Dragon ball Z.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I know that's not Disney, but like you could get,
- 15:56Speaker 2: I feel like a lot more variety. I think CGI's
- 16:00Speaker 2: working on that now because you have like more hand
- 16:03Speaker 2: drawn no well to do, like more variety and have
- 16:05Speaker 2: some unique looks to it, because that Spider Man movie
- 16:08Speaker 2: that came out a few years ago into the Spider
- 16:10Speaker 2: Verse has a unique look to it, as does you
- 16:13Speaker 2: know the Ninja Turtles movie. Even the Pushing Boots movie
- 16:17Speaker 2: was what I thought, it was really good and had
- 16:19Speaker 2: a unique style to it. This one coming in at
- 16:21Speaker 2: number five according to Variety, I have on my top five.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And what a jerk. This guy is Gaston from Beauty
- 16:29Speaker 2: and the Beast. I got it.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Iconic and just a good looking.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Egotistical great song, guess and a great song, and I
- 16:37Speaker 2: think that's really important.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Great two songs. What's the other one? I know that
- 16:41Speaker 1: you know? One place? Yeah? And then to Kill the Beast? Ah? Yes, yes, yes,
- 16:48Speaker 1: so yeah. It could have been his sidekick song, but
- 16:50Speaker 1: he was singing in it.
- 16:51Speaker 2: He was definitely involved in that one. Oh, how did
- 16:54Speaker 2: I not write this down this this might be number one.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Well you're gonna say, don't Scar, maybe I have to
- 17:03Speaker 1: rewatch it.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Okay, but I love this one as a kid, Cruella
- 17:07Speaker 2: de Ruella, I mean she tries to kill one hundred
- 17:11Speaker 2: and one dogs, you know. And then they made a
- 17:15Speaker 2: live action movie with Emma Stone, which I was not
- 17:19Speaker 2: a fan of that they were making it, but it
- 17:20Speaker 2: was pretty damn good.
- 17:22Speaker 1: It was. It was the prequel like how she became Kruella.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But I think it. I thought it was really good.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I thought it like, I think it's its own thing.
- 17:31Speaker 2: I don't think it is, because like she's more of
- 17:33Speaker 2: like the hero. I was like, how are they gonna
- 17:35Speaker 2: make this movie where we're gonna feel any emotion to
- 17:37Speaker 2: this woman that we know later kills one hundred and
- 17:40Speaker 2: one dogs. I feel like that Kruella doesn't go on
- 17:43Speaker 2: to kill dogs.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Yeah, something had to happen. But I really liked Amma Stone.
- 17:48Speaker 2: It's one of my favorite actresses, if not my favorite
- 17:50Speaker 2: actress going today.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But Couela Deville is great. Sound good.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Ursula they have as number three, amazing Number two they
- 17:59Speaker 2: have Scar, Okay, I know what they're gonna go with
- 18:02Speaker 2: Number one it's gonna be from snow White, the Evil
- 18:06Speaker 2: and the Witch.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Oh they don't.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Who is it Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. I'm not a
- 18:12Speaker 2: Sleeping Beauty guy.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Oh okay, like the cartoon Sleeping Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I just again, it felt like that's something
- 18:18Speaker 2: my sister would watch.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Not Wow, Hades isn't even the top ten.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Hercules isn't like revered by anyone, but like our generation.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Hercules is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I
- 18:30Speaker 1: have it in my top five. I don't have an order.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I just wrote Hercules, Pinocchio, Lion King, Aladdin and the
- 18:35Speaker 2: Goofy Movie.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Goofy movie, amazing soundtrack, so good. But the Hercules soundtrack
- 18:40Speaker 1: is probably amazing too. I mean that Alan Reckman or
- 18:44Speaker 1: Alan Rickman, Oh my goodness, this guy makes hits.
- 18:48Speaker 2: On his Alman is the yeahtar yeah yeah I'm not
- 18:53Speaker 2: yeah there, Alan yeah yeah yeah. He did all those
- 18:58Speaker 2: music from yeah zero to Hero is so good. I
- 19:03Speaker 2: won't say I'm in love classic, what else? I'll oh,
- 19:07Speaker 2: Star is Born? I will go the distance exactly, I
- 19:10Speaker 2: have gone my way. So I mean, whenever write exercise,
- 19:15Speaker 2: that song needs it all on there. I mean I'm
- 19:17Speaker 2: winded after the first verse. But I'm like, if Hercules
- 19:21Speaker 2: could do it, I'm shocked they haven't canceled the women
- 19:24Speaker 2: in that movie yet. They sexualized Hercules, Hercules more like Hencules.
- 19:30Speaker 1: If that was the other way, I'm.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Telling you, they would not be showing They can't show
- 19:33Speaker 2: the Nazi imagery from Lion King, but this woman is
- 19:37Speaker 2: sexualizing And was he not? No, he was a growing
- 19:40Speaker 2: up at that point. I was thinking it was keen Hercules.
- 19:42Speaker 1: He was it was adults.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And I love I mean, Hercules is so good because
- 19:48Speaker 2: it's essentially the most action for any Disney movie. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 2: I mean, Mulan's got some action sequences up there.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Great, Who's oh the Huns would be to defeat the hun?
- 20:01Speaker 2: I don't know, Like does the modern is that what's
- 20:05Speaker 2: missing with That's what's missing. I've just realized that's what's
- 20:10Speaker 2: missing with these Pixar movies and these recent Disney movies
- 20:16Speaker 2: is what who's the iconic villain? Who's the iconic villain?
- 20:20Speaker 2: And I know the movies make a lot of money,
- 20:22Speaker 2: but like Frozen, I've actually never seen Frozen. Is there
- 20:24Speaker 2: a villain in Frozen?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Frozen? They're just trying to well, in the first one
- 20:29Speaker 1: it was like, oh Hans, Yeah, he like betrayed me,
- 20:32Speaker 1: but he was the villain. Yeah.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But is there like anyone that stands out like Muwana?
- 20:37Speaker 2: I mean, these movies are good, but there's no Scar,
- 20:40Speaker 2: there's no crueltive Villa, there's no.
- 20:42Speaker 1: There's no evil, there's no yeah, there's no evil person.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It's like they're trying to figure out what's wrong and
- 20:49Speaker 1: fix it.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I think Disney needs to go back to that formula
- 20:52Speaker 2: of having a princess, a dude saving the princess, and
- 20:56Speaker 2: an evil villain.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I know, I know you want to go back to
- 20:59Speaker 1: Cookie cut but it's not gonna be like that.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Oh it will be like that come November. All right,
- 21:08Speaker 2: that's gonna do it. For this edition of the Radio Rumble, Gina,
- 21:11Speaker 2: you got your podcast?
- 21:13Speaker 1: How did you plug that? I have a podcast called
- 21:15Speaker 1: the eight O three podcast I do with my really
- 21:17Speaker 1: good friend Mikayla and why is it called A three again?
- 21:20Speaker 1: So we met at this resort in August and we
- 21:24Speaker 1: go the third week of August, So eight O three
- 21:26Speaker 1: it's coming up. Yeah, eight O three the month eight
- 21:29Speaker 1: and then the third week and then you get the
- 21:31Speaker 1: ATO three podcast.
- 21:32Speaker 2: What do you guys talk about girl stuff?
- 21:34Speaker 1: We just talked about live stuff. We intertwined like how
- 21:36Speaker 1: we met, like stories from like our vacation stuff and
- 21:40Speaker 1: what's going on in pop culture. So it's fun, it's flirty,
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's a it's a really good time with the girlies.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Oh, let's let's actually speaking of flirty and whatnot. Hottest
- 21:51Speaker 2: Disney character I don't know if you go that way
- 21:54Speaker 2: with animated characters being attracted.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But of course, okay, okay, what are we talking about.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Some people schemed out by that, but are you Disney? Okay,
- 22:04Speaker 1: Disney has brought in, like to the surface what we
- 22:08Speaker 1: think is attractive and our music choices. Yeah, hercules and
- 22:12Speaker 1: guest on next Nala.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, because now even though she's a lion Jasmine.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I was watching Lion King and there's a scene where like.
- 22:23Speaker 1: She's looking at Simba. Yeah, she's like mounted.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Well, first of all, she mounts him, yes, but then
- 22:28Speaker 2: when she's looking up at him with those eyes, I'm like, yeah,
- 22:30Speaker 2: I don't know if I.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Feelingly, No, it's it's hot. What about Prince Eric? Prince Eric,
- 22:38Speaker 1: what do you mean? I hate Prison Eric? Why? I
- 22:41Speaker 1: don't know, he's just like so Vanilla. Yeah, he's so.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I hate that.
- 22:46Speaker 2: I know that that's a song.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Who else?
- 22:49Speaker 2: What about like the evil Guys? No, none of the
- 22:51Speaker 2: even doesn't get you going.
- 22:53Speaker 1: No, I'd rather know Kadies than Genie. Genie, I would
- 22:59Speaker 1: know I want him. Why would I set him free?
- 23:02Speaker 1: You rub his lamp though? Yeah? I would. I want
- 23:07Speaker 1: those three wishes.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I'd like to lay on top of the carpet. That's
- 23:10Speaker 2: what I'd one to do. Trying to think, like who
- 23:12Speaker 2: else even like like snow White ugly, Let's be honest,
- 23:15Speaker 2: like she's too old fashioned. Yeah, I feel like they
- 23:18Speaker 2: didn't start to get hot till like the fifties, fifties,
- 23:22Speaker 2: like like Cinderella era Sleeping Beauty, that's when you start to.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Get really I think I think they got hot with
- 23:29Speaker 1: like Ariel. Oh yeah, definitely got her mid section, yeah yeah,
- 23:32Speaker 1: see her stomach.
- 23:34Speaker 2: What yeah yeah yeah, and then even like uh, you
- 23:38Speaker 2: mentioned Jasmine, she's so.
- 23:40Speaker 1: But Jasmine is after Ariel. Yeah yeah yeah, but Ariel. Sorry.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I feel like they wouldn't draw a character that way anymore,
- 23:47Speaker 2: Like they couldn't sexualize. They had the live action Little Mermaid,
- 23:51Speaker 2: and I'm surrobased she wasn't wearing a one piece. At
- 23:54Speaker 2: this rate, We're going.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Oh no, I knew they were going to show her midsection,
- 23:57Speaker 1: which is whatever.
- 23:58Speaker 2: But I feel like, I don't know, Disney animated movie
- 24:02Speaker 2: draw characters. That's sexy again, that's what we need. We
- 24:04Speaker 2: need villains and sexy princes and princes and princesses, villains
- 24:11Speaker 2: and hand drawn animation. We just fixed Disney. Disney's been
- 24:14Speaker 2: going down the crapper for years now. They just you know,
- 24:17Speaker 2: had their worst year last year.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We fixed it.
- 24:21Speaker 2: We've they had not one movie gross over a billion
- 24:24Speaker 2: dollars last year for the first time in decades.
- 24:27Speaker 1: What inside out didn't you well.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Know this year they did this year last year. Last
- 24:32Speaker 2: year El Marvel movie grossed over a billion. Parts of
- 24:35Speaker 2: them flopped. They made like chump change compared to the budget.
- 24:39Speaker 2: So they've been going through a lot of turmoil with
- 24:42Speaker 2: what they need to do right. But I think we
- 24:45Speaker 2: fixed it. Well, that was my discussion with Gina Santillo
- 24:48Speaker 2: talking about Disney villains and sexy Disney characters. There's a
- 24:53Speaker 2: fun discussion. I thank you guys for listening to that.
- 24:56Speaker 2: We'll be back, hopefully by next week with some more
- 24:59Speaker 2: movie discussion right here on the film reel So long,
- 25:02Speaker 2: Everyone
