Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 3rd.
- 0:11Friends that build you up. The people closest to you have a
- 0:15way of shaping you more than you realize.
- 0:17Their words get in your head. Their values start influencing
- 0:20your choices. Their habits can slowly become
- 0:24your habits. That is why who you walk with
- 0:26matters so much. Proverbs chapter 13 verses 17 to
- 0:3118 says that a faithful messenger brings healing and
- 0:34that whoever heeds correction is honored.
- 0:38In Mark chapter 3, verses 14 to 15, Jesus appoints the 12:00 so
- 0:42that they might be with Him and be sent out by Him.
- 0:45That little phrase matters so much with Him.
- 0:49Before they were sent, they were with Him.
- 0:51Jesus chose people intentionally, not randomly.
- 0:54He called them into closeness, growth, and purpose.
- 0:57And that is a reminder for us too.
- 1:00Relationships are not small things.
- 1:02They can either pull you closer to Jesus or slowly lead you away
- 1:06from Him. Sometimes we choose friendships
- 1:09based on who makes us feel accepted, entertained, or less
- 1:12alone. And those things matter because
- 1:15we all want connection. But not every connection is
- 1:18healthy. Some people encourage gossip,
- 1:21compromise, pride, or reckless choices.
- 1:24Others call out the best in you. They speak truth when you need
- 1:27it. They challenge you to grow.
- 1:29They do not flatter your weakness.
- 1:31They help heal your heart. And it is not just about friends
- 1:34your age. Sometimes the wisest voices in
- 1:37your life are parents, mentors, teachers, or leaders who love
- 1:41you enough to correct you. Correction does not always feel
- 1:45good, but it can protect your future.
- 1:47Ignoring wise instruction may feel independent in the moment,
- 1:51but it often leads to regret. Ask yourself honestly today, who
- 1:56is helping me become more faithful, more grounded, more
- 1:59like Christ, and who is normalizing the very things God
- 2:02wants to free me from? Choosing your circle wisely is
- 2:06not being judgmental, it is being intentional with your
- 2:09soul. You were not made to be shaped
- 2:11by every voice. You were made to be formed by
- 2:15truth and surrounded by people who point you toward Jesus.
- 2:18Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 2:21the people you place in my life. Help me recognize relationships
- 2:25that bring healing, truth, and growth.
- 2:29Give me wisdom to step back from voices that pull me away from
- 2:32you and give me humility to receive correction from those
- 2:35who love me well. Surround me with people who help
- 2:39me follow Jesus more faithfully and make me that kind of friend
- 2:42to others too. In Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:50What if you could rise up and declare with full spiritual
- 2:52authority, I shall not die but live?

- 3:53Proverbs Chapter 13 Verses 17 to 18 World English Bible A wicked
- 3:59messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains
- 4:02healing. Poverty and shame come to him
- 4:05who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be
- 4:08honored. Mark Chapter 3 World English
- 4:11Bible He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man
- 4:14there whose hand was withered. They watched him whether he
- 4:17would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.
- 4:21He said to the man whose hand was withered, Stand up.
- 4:24He said to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good or to
- 4:27do harm, to save a life or to kill?
- 4:30But they were silent when he had looked around at them with anger
- 4:33being grieved at the hardening of their hearts.
- 4:35He said to the man, Stretch out your hand.
- 4:38He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as healthy as
- 4:41the other. The Pharisees went out and
- 4:43immediately conspired with the Herodians against Him, how they
- 4:46might destroy Him. Jesus withdrew to the sea with
- 4:49his disciples, and a great multitude followed him from
- 4:52Galilee, from Judea, from Jerusalem, from Ijamiya, beyond
- 4:56the Jordan, and those from around Tyre and Sidon.
- 4:59A great multitude, hearing what great things He did, came to
- 5:03Him. He spoke to his disciples that a
- 5:05little boat should stay near Him because of the crowd, so that
- 5:08they wouldn't press on Him, for he had healed many, so that as
- 5:11many as had diseases pressed on him, that they might touch him.
- 5:15The unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, fell down before
- 5:18him and cried. You are the Son of God.
- 5:21He sternly warned them that they should not make him known.
- 5:24He went up into the mountain and called to himself those whom he
- 5:27wanted, and they went to him. He appointed 12 that they might
- 5:31be with him, and that he might send them out to preach and to
- 5:34have authority to heal sicknesses and to cast out
- 5:36demons. Simon, to whom he gave the name
- 5:39Peter, James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother
- 5:42of James, whom he called bonages, which means sons of
- 5:45Thunder, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas,
- 5:48James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot, and
- 5:52Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
- 5:55Then he came into a house. The multitude came together
- 5:58again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
- 6:00When his friends heard it, they went out to seize him, for they
- 6:03said He is insane. The scribes who came down from
- 6:06Jerusalem said He has Beelzebul, and by the Prince of the demons
- 6:10he casts out the demons. He summoned them and said to
- 6:13them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
- 6:16If a Kingdom is divided against itself, that Kingdom cannot
- 6:20stand. If a house is divided against
- 6:22itself, that house cannot stand. If Satan has risen up against
- 6:26himself and is divided, he can't stand, but has an end.
- 6:30But no one can enter into the House of the strongman to
- 6:33plunder, unless he first binds the strongman, then he will
- 6:36plunder his house. Most certainly, I tell you, all
- 6:39sins of the descendants of man will be forgiven, including
- 6:42their blasphemies, with which they may blasphemy.
- 6:45But whoever may blasphemy against the Holy Spirit never
- 6:48has forgiveness but is subject to eternal condemnation.
- 6:52Because they said he has an unclean spirit.
- 6:55His mother and his brothers came and standing outside they sent
- 6:58to him calling him. A multitude was sitting around
- 7:01him and they told him, Behold your mother, your brothers and
- 7:04your sisters are outside looking for you.
- 7:07He answered them, who are my mother and my brothers looking
- 7:10around at those who sat around him, He said, behold my mother
- 7:14and my brothers, for whoever does the will of God is my
- 7:16brother, my sister and mother. Thanks for joining us on Bible
