- 0:00Mom. Hey, I'm your host.
- 0:06Emily V. I'm an actor teacher, and a new
- 0:10mom. Once my daughter arrived, I went
- 0:12on the hunt for answers to all my questions about being a
- 0:16working actor. Mom, and what did I find?
- 0:19Well practically nothing. So here I am asking all the
- 0:22questions to try to figure out how people do it, how our
- 0:25mothers balancing and not balancing Parenthood in this
- 0:29crazy. Three.
- 0:30Join me. And my amazing guess, as a, we
- 0:32take a real look into the life of a working entertainment
- 0:36industry moms everywhere. On this episode, I'm talking
- 0:41with Molly, McCook Molly and I met a million years ago and you
- 0:46see Bea 101. Oh, gosh, so long ago Molly and
- 0:51her partner have decided to start trying for a baby.
- 0:55So I thought it'd be really interesting to talk to her at
- 0:58this point in her life and talking with her was really
- 1:02actually mind opening because I, for some reason already had
- 1:06these preconceived assumptions about her Or in her life.
- 1:12Because, you know, she grew up in LA with actor, parents, and
- 1:15already has a pretty successful career.
- 1:18But it was, like I said, mind opening to realize that we have
- 1:25so much in common regardless of all of that.
- 1:30So this episode we talk about her having actor, parents
- 1:35growing up in l.a. surrounded by the industry and taking class
- 1:39with Kids and Big Show's yet. Still feeling so far away and
- 1:44dealing with her parents, not letting her pursue her career
- 1:48when she was a lot younger and friends, that didn't understand
- 1:53her passion. And we also talked about the
- 1:57fact that her husband is also an actor and having a partner,
- 2:03that's also an actor and figuring out when the right time
- 2:06to have kids is and fears about All sorts of things like telling
- 2:12rap and as simple as body changes for women.
- 2:17And also talking about how her and her husband just really have
- 2:23each other's backs when it comes to, you know the ups and downs
- 2:27of being in this career when it comes to unemployment.
- 2:33And those downward spirals that all of us actors have And just
- 2:41hearing about the good and bad stories from other people and
- 2:47having it just be your own Journey at the end of the day.
- 2:52So I hope you really enjoyed this episode.
- 2:55I really, really enjoyed talking to Molly and seeing how similar
- 3:03our lives are, despite what I thought was so different.
- 3:09So So please enjoy Molly McCook know, I'm curious, you're having
- 3:16your dad as an actor. What were some things that like
- 3:22You saw that like, you are, like, I think I can take this
- 3:28into if when I want to become a parent.
- 3:32I can emulate like this type of thing or maybe not.
- 3:38Do this, like, I don't, they were like, I don't know.
- 3:42I mean, My situation was so specific because, you know, my
- 3:49dad has been on the same show and has been playing the same
- 3:54part for my entire life. So like it is totally wild and
- 3:59as you know, so rare and so a like that's what I knew was
- 4:07like, literally him playing that part in the same dressing room
- 4:10still to this day. 78 years old, like the same exact room.
- 4:14That I mean I was a baby going to that set and although things
- 4:19have changed in people have kind of come and gone so much of that
- 4:22has stayed the same. So although there was that kind
- 4:27of like, oh, I grew up in, like, an actor family, I didn't grow
- 4:33up in like a, like my dad had a steady gig which was something
- 4:37that he was so blessed and still feel so blessed to have, you
- 4:42know. So, so, For that.
- 4:45I didn't I didn't really experience having a parent who
- 4:50was like away all the time because they were on sets and
- 4:53out of town which I'm so grateful for so I don't have
- 4:56that experience. So for me I mean a it inspired
- 5:02me to be an actor you know, I had that right there at my
- 5:05fingertips and I dreamed of it from day one, but because my
- 5:10parents also had that perspective.
- 5:14Active. I think they really feared that
- 5:17I would go into it as well. Yeah, you know my my older
- 5:23siblings out of them. None of them wanted to be the
- 5:26center of attention like I so did as a kid so I think they
- 5:29really knew that it was coming and you know whether that be
- 5:33singing or acting, I knew what I wanted to do and so because of
- 5:37that perspective they both said no basically like they both as a
- 5:43kid and I How you feel as a mom. It's like it's and me thinking
- 5:49about being a mom, you know, soon.
- 5:52I hope that that kind of perspective of like, oh gosh, we
- 5:55know how hard that life is, you know?
- 5:57I would never want to say no, my parents weren't say no forever.
- 6:00Obviously I was going to be old enough to make my own decisions
- 6:03but but I think for me, they growing up in La, I had access
- 6:09to acting classes with kids that were starring on their own.
- 6:14Nickelodeon and Disney shows. And I was like, why can't I have
- 6:18that, right? So so they I was like, I want to
- 6:21be auditioning and they were like, well, you can't be a
- 6:24professional actor and I was like, I want to be homeschooled
- 6:26and they were like, you can't be homeschooled.
- 6:28You're going to stay in school, you can do all the theater that
- 6:31you want, which I adored, you know, and go to camps and do all
- 6:35these things performing and you can be in an acting class and
- 6:38you can like learn how to do it and be around other kids that
- 6:42love to do it. But I also Was.
- 6:44Yeah, watching kids who were like emancipated or, you know,
- 6:51totally on their own. It's it was wild and so for me
- 6:55it wasn't like, I was like I hate you.
- 6:56I don't want to be home or I hate school.
- 6:58It just was like, I was like, oh my gosh these kids are TV stars
- 7:02and like, why can't I be Lizzie McGuire?
- 7:05Like, I wanted that I wanted that, you know?
- 7:07Yeah, yeah. I know directly if that's
- 7:09different because you like, Because having that same those
- 7:15same feelings, but like, for me being in like st.
- 7:18Louis like have occur. So, I'm curious.
- 7:21So that's interesting that like, you being so like, close to it.
- 7:25Because me, I might as well have wanted to go to Timbuktu or
- 7:28something. Well, I got ya.
- 7:30If you still felt like you were so close yet, like so far
- 7:37because I'm always interested. Yeah, hot not that many people.
- 7:42That I'm like, oh you grew up here and wanted to be an actor
- 7:45this whole time. Yeah.
- 7:47I mean it was yeah, it was so close and so far at the same
- 7:51time because because of that accessibility and and I think I
- 7:56had even more frustration with my parents because I was like,
- 7:58why don't you get it? Like you should get it like you
- 8:00do this. And obviously now I'm like thank
- 8:06God for you, you know like thank God for the say are you looking
- 8:10back grateful or still? I could have been like, no, I
- 8:15mean, who knows? Who could, who knows?
- 8:16I could I have been, I was a sassy little one like, I could
- 8:20have had my own, you know, I don't know what would have
- 8:22happened in terms of auditions and things but like, you know,
- 8:25you see a lot of kid actors turn into their lives, like, really
- 8:30get messed with and I also know, kid actors who have evolved into
- 8:34wonderful people, whether they're still acting or not, you
- 8:37know, so, but that's the toss-up, right?
- 8:39And it is, it is so much about parenting.
- 8:41And I'm like, Like I'm so so grateful for that because they,
- 8:48you know, it's not like they were like they just said they
- 8:51basically said, we want you to know how difficult it is.
- 8:54There's a lot of rejection. It's not like you're just going
- 8:56to be handed a TV show. It's really hard and they said
- 9:00we want you to stay in school and all of this stuff but you
- 9:03can you can be in all these classes.
- 9:05And and finally, when I was 15, they looked at me because I
- 9:10wouldn't shut up about it and they said like the school thing
- 9:13hasn't changed, you have to stay in school but my dad said, like,
- 9:17look, I you can you can meet my old agent and without signing
- 9:22any papers. I keeping send you out on a few
- 9:24auditions and you can see what it feels like because that's it
- 9:27is such a massive learning experience and processes, you
- 9:31know, like our job is to audition.
- 9:34You know, when we're unemployed like that, that is our gig for
- 9:37now. And I think it was important for
- 9:39me to learn. I mean the joke of the family is
- 9:42that I booked my first audition but well good for you Molly and
- 9:47I just didn't work then for years but like the joke was like
- 9:53my parents are like it's really hard whenever I'm that I booked
- 9:56like a guest star. I was I've always been tall and
- 10:00so I ended up being able to book a show where I played a
- 10:03basketball player so it worked but then I didn't work for a
- 10:05long time. That was good.
- 10:07Yeah, it was, it strange was it as well.
- 10:12I guess besides getting that first one.
- 10:14Was it kind of a shock to your system because like you said
- 10:17your dad had had and still has like consistent.
- 10:21Yeah. We're just this one thing where
- 10:24you're like so was it kind of like?
- 10:26Yeah sure Dad but then were you like oh shit.
- 10:31It actually is heart was that? Like yeah, odd being like As I,
- 10:37you know, I would imagine your parents being like, it's hard
- 10:39and you're like, well, what do you know?
- 10:40You have you have hard for you before, but like, was it
- 10:46shocking to for like to get rejection and have to audition
- 10:53and yeah. Oh, totally a total shock
- 10:56honestly because like, I didn't have the perspective that I do
- 10:59now, meaning a lot of rejection and know what it's about, but it
- 11:05was, it was a shock to the system.
- 11:06To mention, I have my acting class friends, but nobody in my
- 11:09high school, even growing up in l.a. nobody at my high school,
- 11:12none of my friends understood. Like, I remember, I have a vivid
- 11:15memory, and I had very wonderful friends.
- 11:18Like, don't get me wrong, it's just like, when you're at that
- 11:20age, you're all figuring out who you are.
- 11:22And I always, I always really knew what I wanted and when I
- 11:25liked and I went to 44 years, actually the summer, every
- 11:31summer of high school. I went to a Performing Arts
- 11:34summer camp in Upstate New York and I You know, lived for it.
- 11:39I waited for it all year because I was with people who like all
- 11:42the same things and then I remember there was one I think
- 11:45it was like after my second year my like my two best girlfriends
- 11:49kind of like pulled me aside and they were like hey we really
- 11:52don't want to hear about that anymore.
- 11:55They're like we don't really want to talk like you talk.
- 11:57All you do is talk about camp and Camp to camp and I was like,
- 12:00woah, okay I got it. So there were a lot of moments
- 12:04of like okay like shocks to the the system of like, I guess I'm
- 12:09Different. Like I guess I guess it's most
- 12:12people here don't know what they want which is, which is the
- 12:15norm, you know? Yeah, I don't get that.
- 12:19Yes. So there was that shock.
- 12:21I think to, and a little shame there for me to like, I didn't
- 12:25even go to my high school reunions which I can retrospect.
- 12:27I think I regret a little bit. Because I remember what I ran
- 12:31into one person. They're like, yeah, yeah.
- 12:32Oh yeah. You're the, you know, you're
- 12:35still acting you always thought you were better than that.
- 12:38And I was like, I thought the perspective that you think that
- 12:41I have because for me, I thought nobody understood me.
- 12:44So there's also that kind of funny point of view, I guess.
- 12:50But yeah, I always look back at like my friends in high school
- 12:55because again, nobody know. Yeah.
- 12:57Same nobody else. Wanted they did like the
- 13:00musicals with me. Yeah, which is great.
- 13:02Yeah, besides that. And I recently went back and
- 13:06asked and I was like, Guys, never like asked you were never
- 13:10like, you sure you want to Major and acting in college, like
- 13:15right back, right. I was like, why did you guys
- 13:18never like question? And there were like, you just
- 13:22always wanted to do it and I was like, oh, okay.
- 13:24Yeah, well yeah, things were you like perspective is totally
- 13:28different. We're like they remember things
- 13:30and I'm like, oh oh yeah. Mon were.
- 13:34Yeah. I mean, and also the other thing
- 13:36in terms of parenting like, Hey. The funny thing also is my mom
- 13:42stopped working so long ago by choice but and my dad, you know,
- 13:46yes he's been working and still working but he hasn't he hasn't
- 13:50had an agent in. Oh my God.
- 13:53I mean at least 20 years and like because he doesn't need
- 13:56one. Right have auditions and he
- 13:59doesn't, you know he wants he wants the full pay as opposed to
- 14:01giving someone a percentage or whatever.
- 14:03But yeah. But and so because of that I uh
- 14:07I have this wonderful perspective from them an
- 14:10understanding of being an artist and also like, you know, their
- 14:13experiences to. But I'm now teaching them a lot
- 14:16because the industry is so different from what it once was.
- 14:19So I You know, I send them my auditions that I don't send them
- 14:25every single one, but now that things aren't tape like I do
- 14:27send them to them, the ones that I'm proud of and and they really
- 14:29loved that. I think that they are really
- 14:31interested. But then there are also some
- 14:33things where, you know, they'll ask questions or say, why don't
- 14:36you ask your manager, this and what do you call your agent?
- 14:38Say, like, where are the audition that I'm like, I feel
- 14:42like, okay, good to know that. That's just all parents because
- 14:45my parents will be like, why aren't you that should be you?
- 14:48Why aren't you playing now? Why don't you make some calls?
- 14:51It's like good news. Syria did your agent, put you
- 14:55have you auditioned. I was like, oh my God, that
- 14:57sounds good to know that. Yeah, it's a generational thing.
- 15:01Oh, Perry. And I you know that any audition
- 15:03that I would have though, they'd be like, well, did you book it?
- 15:06And I'm like, listen, I just gotta go.
- 15:09Stop telling them auditions that I've ever like ever have some
- 15:17like, yeah, it's how I get it, but I'll let you know when
- 15:21something comes along. Yeah.
- 15:23So I'm curious so one of my big things with like waiting because
- 15:29I think I'm a bit older than you.
- 15:31I'm 35 you're in 32 32 but I was like, yeah, of course, like
- 15:38women have dumb Cox which is so annoying.
- 15:42But of like looking forward to me.
- 15:46Like I knew I wanted to be a mom.
- 15:49Like I never just like dreamed of it, my whole life.
- 15:52I just Just kind of like knew I wanted it but like in this
- 15:55business waiting so long to be like okay well I'll wait for my
- 16:01career to really like I'll wait till I'm a series regular on a
- 16:06pilot. Then I'll have a baby but not
- 16:09like, I mean, now it already happened too late but I was like
- 16:13the baby part. But yeah, it is like, well, I
- 16:17guess once that happens looking now I'm like, oh, I guess There
- 16:23would be struggles with that because then I'll be away.
- 16:27So you looking forward to like one day this happening.
- 16:32Hopefully, what are your like fears or excitement or gosh?
- 16:40Somebody that's a loaded question.
- 16:42I'm sorry. I, yeah.
- 16:44But I'm curious, I get it if you're because I will say like
- 16:49you luckily have had some some Really great success and that's
- 16:55so amazing. And I look at it and I'm like,
- 16:59oh, I haven't done anything. What should I be like?
- 17:02Should I be? I mean, I'm already mom.
- 17:04So like what do I, you know? Know, it's crazy.
- 17:08It's a toss-up of like Are like do you wait for your career?
- 17:14Do you live your life? Yeah I mean I've I just have to
- 17:19like 10,000 question. No, no.
- 17:21It's okay. It's okay.
- 17:22I know exactly what I know exactly what you're saying.
- 17:25This is like been such a topic of conversation with all my
- 17:27girlfriends because it's all like all babies right now.
- 17:31Like my look all around me either my friends are pregnant
- 17:34or there they have kids or they're having your second one,
- 17:37you know, we're at the age. Yeah.
- 17:41But but like on that note that was always such a massive
- 17:47conversation with me and my husband because he's an actor as
- 17:50well. And not only that, but we, we
- 17:53were, we were long distance for years and we're finally just now
- 17:58in the same place. So, so that I mean, we only got,
- 18:01we just celebrated our third anniversary, so we only got
- 18:03married three years ago on academic happen and, you know,
- 18:06whatever. And a lot of people were like
- 18:08Now's the Time pandemic but like we weren't you You know, because
- 18:12I knew that I had one more season of my show, but I also
- 18:16knew that was my last season, so, that was kind of a heavy
- 18:20thing to and, and John at the time was in a Broadway show
- 18:25Broadway, had shut down. And yet, he knew he was going to
- 18:29be leaving and coming home. The pandemic, just expedited it.
- 18:32So, he went back when it opened and that we were finally both in
- 18:35the same place and we were like, okay, this makes sense now,
- 18:39right? Like, we both Bought.
- 18:41We bought our house a year and a half ago.
- 18:43So really, that's a step. That's the step, right?
- 18:45We have a house that seems like, and obviously, when we did that,
- 18:50every house we looked at, we were like, this isn't baby
- 18:52friendly, and this is, you know, all those things.
- 18:56But we were never feeling ready. And we had all these
- 19:00conversations and then we were like, Yeah, but everyone says,
- 19:04look, you're never ready. You know, I mean I still feel
- 19:07like 12. I feel like I'm gonna feel like
- 19:08I'm I I'm going to feel a twelve-year-old for the rest of
- 19:11my life. I say maybe when I'm a mom, all
- 19:13feels 16. I mean, maybe you're not into me
- 19:16but nope. Right?
- 19:18So like I think for the two of us and he's had a little bit of
- 19:22that like also imposter syndrome and and a Zach, you know, and
- 19:27he's been battling with and you'd be fine with me saying
- 19:29this because it's such a common thing but he's also been
- 19:31battling like as the As the man of the house, like he's like,
- 19:36you know, should I have a more steady gig and like my husband's
- 19:41and I hear? So, yeah, so you get it.
- 19:43So it's like, it's been and he's, I mean, he started an
- 19:45incredible like guitar teaching business.
- 19:47That's, that's, that's so great. And it brings him a lot of Joy,
- 19:50but there's a lot of that I think is actors imposter
- 19:54syndrome and getting to this point unless you're this, like,
- 19:57ridiculously famous and successful person, who can hire
- 20:00a nanny, and a night nurse, and all of those.
- 20:03Those freaking things and it's like, but I think we finally
- 20:06turn to each other and we were like, okay what is ready?
- 20:08And I think when our friends were having kids and we were
- 20:11holding babies and we were around them, not to mention,
- 20:14like we both are from California and my parents lived less than
- 20:1710 minutes away and his or 45 minutes away.
- 20:20I'm like, oh, that's amazing. Yeah, we have that community.
- 20:24And I think I think on the other side of it, though, the thing
- 20:31that's real and that in the fears that I have.
- 20:33Because now that we're ready, and we're trying, and we're
- 20:36really excited, you know, my fears as an actor are as simple
- 20:42as my body, you know, how much is it going to change?
- 20:47How I look or how is this going to change like my mindset and
- 20:51and what if I what if I'm really sick through my pregnancy and I
- 20:54can't work, you know, No. And also, I have a legitimate
- 20:58fear of telling my reps when I am pregnant.
- 21:01Like, I am not excited for that conversation because they're
- 21:04not, you know, so I have friends who have like wonderful female
- 21:10or male like representation that like we're great about it but I
- 21:15had made a comment to one of mine like I don't know, a couple
- 21:19months back, I didn't tell him we were trying, maybe I should
- 21:24have but also like no, it's like not as business, right?
- 21:26You know what I mean? It's like, whatever.
- 21:28And I don't know when it's actually going to happen but and
- 21:31the comment kind of pissed me off because it was like the
- 21:34response was kind of like, well, you know, there's no rush and
- 21:39you're young and you're, you know, you just got married.
- 21:43I mean I got married 3 years ago, it is just but also like I
- 21:46knew it wasn't coming from. I think what upset me was that?
- 21:49Like, it wasn't coming from like a loving place.
- 21:53It was coming from like a business place and I just kind
- 21:56of was Like, no, I'm gonna do whatever I want actually like,
- 22:01but still not looking forward to that the passing that along.
- 22:04Yeah. But that's why the industry can
- 22:05be. So icky is, it's like, it is all
- 22:08business, but I also look at, I mean, I look at so many people,
- 22:12or, I see. Interviews were actors, are,
- 22:14like, I was six months pregnant, when I was filming this.
- 22:17Um, you know, a girl that I know that happens to be her name is
- 22:23Molly Ephraim. She's who I replaced on Last
- 22:25Man, Standing? She's in the new Amazon League
- 22:30of Their Own, and she was who's so pregnant when they filmed
- 22:36that show and I think, I haven't even, I haven't finished it.
- 22:39I mean, it's great. Highly recommend if you haven't,
- 22:41but like, when you get through it, I like you noticed that she
- 22:44starts a kind of hiding her belly with like a, am it with,
- 22:47like a baseball mitt and it's like, yeah, like you can do
- 22:50anything you like and I feel like, you know, Faint like huge
- 22:57movie stars, they're cutting things and they're doing
- 22:59whatever and my hoping that was kind of because I wasn't ready
- 23:07yet or it just didn't come up or whatever.
- 23:10When I was on my sitcom, it was frustrating that I wasn't in the
- 23:14right mindset or ready because that the sitcom job is like the
- 23:18dream job for for a new parent or just a parent in general like
- 23:24it's and didn't your character happen.
- 23:27Yeah, she got what she was. So did you play pregnant on the
- 23:31show? Did I did?
- 23:33Yeah, that's why. I'm so you're probably like well
- 23:36this could have been good to. This could have been nice.
- 23:39Yeah, if we had one more season I would that would have been
- 23:42perfect and my friend. Amanda who played my older
- 23:46sister? She was she did have a baby
- 23:49while working on our final season and or our second to last
- 23:53season. And And it just, you know, it's
- 23:57because and I say that because the schedule on a sitcom is so
- 24:01delightful and it's the same every week and, you know, three
- 24:06days a week, you're rehearsing and you're not on camera, and
- 24:09you're sitting in your dressing room, a lot.
- 24:11And, and then you only have two days of shooting and it's like,
- 24:17any your off every two to three weeks for a week?
- 24:19And it's like, you know, I mean, it's nice for us all the like,
- 24:24have that goal because, you know, but but also it's like,
- 24:27you know, there aren't many sitcoms anymore.
- 24:29But regardless like, of course, I have those so many fears, you
- 24:35know, of telling people or or how that's going to come about.
- 24:39If people are going to be respectful of it or people are
- 24:41going to be like, yeah, all good.
- 24:43Yeah. Santa before you know I'll say
- 24:45I'll say So far everyone that I've talked to, they've had
- 24:49positive experiences, I'm amazed howling, their reps, which was a
- 24:53thing, you know, I've asked everyone and I have been
- 24:57pleasantly surprised that like, one manager, I talked to, I was
- 25:00like, oh shit. Is everyone dealing with this?
- 25:03And luckily, I mean, hopefully, your reps if that time comes or
- 25:08similar. But I have been surprised that
- 25:11most people are, like, great, we're like, You know, will send
- 25:17you on pregnant. Commercial auditions, are
- 25:20whatever it is, right? Or I mean, I would hope that.
- 25:23Yeah, I would hope that when information is there.
- 25:27I mean they literally can't respond in that way once there
- 25:29is a baby, you know what I mean? Like they can't, they lose their
- 25:32jobs so II. Think I.
- 25:36So I guess in that way, I just answered my own question.
- 25:38I guess I shouldn't be fearful about because it's not like
- 25:40they're going to be like Like what do you know?
- 25:43What are we supposed to do? So do you have feel like since
- 25:48your husband's an actor? Also, I'm curious if you feel, I
- 25:53don't know what the word is. I don't want to say jealous but
- 26:00like because they're not going to have.
- 26:03I mean, they'll still want babies there, or whatever?
- 26:07Yeah, they'll have to, like, take time off or if they take
- 26:11time off. But it's like, yeah, I wonder
- 26:15I'm curious or maybe he does have fear of telling his, his
- 26:18people, or that a baby's coming, but it doesn't affect them quite
- 26:26quite in the same way. So, it doesn't sure, doesn't
- 26:30yeah. Um, I don't know.
- 26:32We have it. I don't think it's like even
- 26:33really like gotten to that topic yet, but he's pretty good about
- 26:39it. We're so much on the same page
- 26:41right now. I think all so because we've had
- 26:43so much time apart and so many years apart were like, we're
- 26:46very much about this right now and And you know, the whole
- 26:52deal. When we got married, we looked
- 26:54at each other and we were like, Hey, we're going to have each
- 26:56other's backs because sometimes with, I mean, in the acting
- 27:00world, it's like, sometimes you're going to be employed, I'm
- 27:02not and I'm going to be a nightmare and I'm going to be,
- 27:04you know, a spiraling and sometimes might be the opposite.
- 27:07Or sometimes we're both going to be working, which is obviously
- 27:09the best, but maybe we won't be together or or, you know, in the
- 27:13same place at the same time or we'll both be unemployed.
- 27:16So it's like we're both unemployed acting wise but You
- 27:21know, his business is doing so well.
- 27:23You know. Sometimes I'll just be like
- 27:25cool. How was your day?
- 27:27We're going. I'm just going to be sitting
- 27:28here watching Netflix and like feeling like nothing.
- 27:32See, I know we haven't gotten really to the topic of like,
- 27:34what will happen then, because we just don't know, it's, like
- 27:37we're so used to. We're, so used to our lives.
- 27:40Being so unpredictable at this point and went in and him being
- 27:46it has definitely shifted because he's worked so much on
- 27:48the east coast in New York and tours and things.
- 27:51And we, I mean, he does say that he's like, done with being on
- 27:56the road, you know, if hard. Yeah.
- 28:01I mean, I think when kids are involved, I think also like,
- 28:06we're going to all want to be together, but then what if
- 28:09opportunity is needed financially and we have to kind
- 28:14of all, like, look at each other and be like, all right, well,
- 28:16there's a new show in New York that your dad really needs to
- 28:19go. Do For a little bit.
- 28:21Could we all pick up and go and like, you know, be to get, you
- 28:24know, they're like, I read this article that Blake Lively and
- 28:28Ryan Reynolds like, they, they made a deal where they never
- 28:33work apart anymore. You know.
- 28:35They're like always, apparently, like they have the freedom and
- 28:39money, I like be together all the time, which sounds great,
- 28:43but I kind of am like, yeah, that sounds great.
- 28:46You know what? I'm going to manifest that.
- 28:47Let's all let's be together beat.
- 28:50Together and never part and that would be great but you know that
- 28:54just comes with all the fears and and the unknown of what we
- 28:58signed up for, you know? Yeah.
- 29:01I feel like you guys have probably probably feel similar
- 29:07since you're continuing to pursue your career.
- 29:09Is that like having a kid? Again, that was one of our
- 29:14things where it's like, well shoot does one of us, give up,
- 29:19or whatever, for set it aside for the time being.
- 29:23Yeah. A full-time job or do.
- 29:25We keep pursuing it and show this little one like know,
- 29:32follow your dreams and it is a hard thing where it's like,
- 29:34okay, Follow your dreams but also we need to eat like right
- 29:38now, it's like, yeah, but I feel like you've probably probably
- 29:43feels similar and especially with like, you know, your dad.
- 29:47I'm sure. Like showing that like, yeah,
- 29:50keep doing what you love and Yeah, yeah.
- 29:56And see, I guess, yeah. I mean it's also like all we've
- 30:02ever known up to this point and it's it definitely feels
- 30:06different. It's, it's, that's not to say
- 30:09that I haven't spiraled. My entire life when I'm not
- 30:12working or, you know, been continuously rejected and have
- 30:16it like not get to me, it's it's always happened.
- 30:19But it does feel different when you hit your 30s and obviously
- 30:22like when you're a parent or when your Thinking about being a
- 30:25parent and it does shift. I mean, in every way everything
- 30:29ships, your whole brain shifts about how you look at life.
- 30:33So I think it's just taking it day by day.
- 30:38Yeah. Like it's weird and it's weird.
- 30:41It's again, I'm really grateful that I have parents that
- 30:45understand that I don't have parents were like, yeah.
- 30:48See this isn't you know this isn't good to be a parent and
- 30:51you should get some things study.
- 30:53It's that that fear comes naturally to us, so like, you
- 30:56know, we don't need the extra pressures of of that, but Yeah,
- 31:02I don't know. I like, you know, I think we
- 31:04kind of throw our hands up and were like, no, we feel ready.
- 31:06Like you woke up one day we were like no, we're ready.
- 31:08Like let's let's try this. Like we really want a baby and
- 31:12like, we have wonderful people around us that can help if we
- 31:15need it. And and in terms of like jobs or
- 31:20lack thereof, I guess we just have to kind of take it as it
- 31:23comes but but yeah, it does. It does shift it shifts.
- 31:28A your look at life, that's for sure.
- 31:31It definitely does but you still feel like 12 year old so don't
- 31:34worry. Yeah.
- 31:36Oh good that won't go away. Yeah.
- 31:38Hi I'm still in the phase where I'm like oh she's mine.
- 31:42She's fine because I that's been my day job is nannying.
- 31:48I mean I don't do it anymore because I was like when she
- 31:50comes I'm not going to do it but and hopefully I don't have to go
- 31:52back to it but I yeah. Like 20 years of nannying just
- 31:57out the window or I'm like now she's mine.
- 32:01And three and all that, all that experience, all that experience
- 32:06is probably what makes you such a great mom, you know, hopefully
- 32:12fingers crossed it. Is it is wild and I wish you
- 32:18just the the best of luck and all and that everything works
- 32:24out regardless of which way it works out, it'll all work out
- 32:28for you. Yeah, I know it.
- 32:31I'm so excited to have you. This was such a great
- 32:36conversation, it's really fun. We should we should get
- 32:40together. We're so close.
- 32:43I know, we totally should around around.
- 32:47I am the Tribune unemployed if you if you need a baby to hold,
- 32:52come on. Hey, do always say yes to that.
- 32:55That's for sure. I'm learning a lot IV.
- 32:56I'm really learning a lot from from.
- 32:59I'm just asking all of the questions.
- 33:01I just had a Conversation with a girl that I know without a
- 33:05wedding who had her baby and I just were talking about
- 33:07breastfeeding. And I was like, why do people
- 33:09not talk about breastfeeding? Like she was like, that was the
- 33:11hardest part for me and I was like why is that the, like the
- 33:15second time that I've heard that in my whole life?
- 33:17Like why is it something that people don't talk about?
- 33:18Like I want to know that scare me like telling me these things.
- 33:22Yeah, it is interesting. You hear all these like horror
- 33:25stories. A lot of like bad things with
- 33:28like pregnancy and birth and I was like, Oh shit.
- 33:32And then like things I'm like oh not so bad.
- 33:35Oh but this was worse a like yeah, of course.
- 33:39Oh my God. Everything is so different and
- 33:42everything is normal, which is great and horrible because
- 33:46you're like, oh it's and it for trying the same thing.
- 33:51Yeah, I didn't realize that like it's such, it is such a struggle
- 33:56for like yeah, the majority its majority.
- 34:01I Friends who are my friends? Were pregnant their second IVF
- 34:05pregnancy. Yeah, I have friends who tried
- 34:09for Months and months and months till something happened.
- 34:13I have four. I have a friend who was like.
- 34:15Yeah, we are pregnant our honeymoon, you know, it's wild.
- 34:19It's so crazy. My mom was like, you're gonna
- 34:20get pregnant a second, like, dad looked at me and I got pregnant
- 34:23and I was like, okay, and now we're only starting our month to
- 34:27of trying. You know, monk one didn't work.
- 34:29And I was like Mom, you said being a longer process for me.
- 34:36Yeah, both of my sisters had had trouble.
- 34:39Well one she has to and the other just it didn't it didn't
- 34:43work and yeah. So again it was like the the
- 34:47breastfeeding thing where I was like it's I'm probably gonna
- 34:50have to wait like a year or whatever and then I was like oh
- 34:55just kidding. It is.
- 34:57Hey yeah, it's wild that like it but if you ever have any
- 35:03questions about, I'll come to you for sure.
- 35:07I'm sure you clearly have a lot of people.
- 35:09Ask. But no, I honestly, I need, I
- 35:12need all of the, all of the advice.
- 35:14I'll take it all at this point. Well, I'm just, and I think the
- 35:19most important thing is just like, trust yourself.
- 35:22Yeah, you're gonna be great. It'll, yeah, yeah.
- 35:28But yeah, it was so nice to talk to you.
- 35:30I'm so nice to talk to you so much for being on the podcast.

- 35:47bunch of other things to talk about.
- 35:48Yeah. Oh for sure.
- 35:50Yeah. All right.
- 35:52We'll take care. Thanks.
