- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with I our Radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast. It's been and
- 0:09Speaker 2: Lauren here, fresh off the Season one Real Housewives of
- 0:12Speaker 2: Rhode Island finale, as we are anticipating the reunion episodes,
- 0:17Speaker 2: we're excited for him, but we're very excited for today.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We want to take a look back at the season
- 0:22Speaker 2: and we thought who would be the best guest for
- 0:25Speaker 2: us to dissect this season with. Well, of course we
- 0:29Speaker 2: had to bring back onto the pod the people who
- 0:31Speaker 2: analyze reality TV in an extraordinary marvelous way. Of course,
- 0:37Speaker 2: we were talking about the host of the Game of
- 0:39Speaker 2: Roses podcasts and authors of How to Win The Bachelor.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Chad and Lizzie, welcome.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Back, Thank you here, thank you, thank you.
- 0:48Speaker 4: It's an honor to be here with greatness as always.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you for that. You know, Lizzie, I remember
- 0:57Speaker 2: when we sat down on the Almost Famous Podcast with Ashley,
- 1:01Speaker 2: when you guys came on. It was like two days
- 1:04Speaker 2: after I think the announcement that she was going to
- 1:06Speaker 2: be on Real Housewives of Rhode Island, and how excited
- 1:08Speaker 2: you got, like you wanted to talk about it, but actually.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Trailer had come out, and I was worried. I was like,
- 1:15Speaker 5: Ashley's not in the trailer, but my worries were very
- 1:19Speaker 5: much as switched. After watching the season, I thought she
- 1:23Speaker 5: did so amazing.
- 1:25Speaker 3: You thought she did get in?
- 1:26Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yes, oh okay good.
- 1:28Speaker 6: I'm so excited to talk to like outsiders here because
- 1:32Speaker 6: why what did you think she succeeded at?
- 1:35Speaker 3: I feel like she's.
- 1:36Speaker 5: The entry point for the audience who's watching, Like her
- 1:40Speaker 5: reactions to everything is like how we're reacting to entering
- 1:44Speaker 5: this insane friend group. I just I thought she did amazing.
- 1:47Speaker 5: The mask is an image that I'll never get out
- 1:50Speaker 5: of my head.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I need that tattooed on my body.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I literally laugh out loud every time I see that shot.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I think they should always cut back to it.
- 2:00Speaker 4: It's so wild that they gave her the mask that,
- 2:03Speaker 4: like it completely obscures her entire face so when she's talking,
- 2:06Speaker 4: like the mouth, you can't see moving and stuff, and
- 2:08Speaker 4: everybody else got these kind of just like oh, it's
- 2:11Speaker 4: just a little thing that goes around your eyes so
- 2:13Speaker 4: you can tell who they are. They completely put her
- 2:15Speaker 4: in like a man in the iron mask type thing.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I will say on top of what Lizzie was saying this,
- 2:21Speaker 4: I've never seen a full Housewives season ever until the
- 2:24Speaker 4: same and for obvious reasons, this one had to be
- 2:28Speaker 4: watched because of its its proximity to our beloved game,
- 2:31Speaker 4: The Bachelor. The I don't know if all the other
- 2:34Speaker 4: Housewives franchises are like this, where it's just like, oh,
- 2:37Speaker 4: it's a group of ten ultra rich maniacs screaming at
- 2:42Speaker 4: each other and pretending to be friends. So with Ashley
- 2:46Speaker 4: I Kennedy dropped into that you're expecting to see some
- 2:49Speaker 4: of her play style re emerge from Bachelor, which we
- 2:51Speaker 4: haven't gotten to see in a long time, and it
- 2:53Speaker 4: does fantastic face play, tier play left and right, like nothing,
- 2:57Speaker 4: you know. All of that is like, I just love
- 3:00Speaker 4: seeing it. It's like getting to see Michael Jordan come
- 3:02Speaker 4: back and play again, you know. But also, like to
- 3:06Speaker 4: Lizzie's point, as somebody who has no context for what
- 3:10Speaker 4: these shows are, she is me sitting in that chair
- 3:13Speaker 4: in episode one when she's like, Hey, nice to meet
- 3:16Speaker 4: you guys, and they're just like screaming at each other
- 3:18Speaker 4: from the jump and she's like, what the is going
- 3:20Speaker 4: on here? That was me as well, you know, she
- 3:24Speaker 4: kind of like was was my entry point for the
- 3:26Speaker 4: show and gave me somebody to identify with in this
- 3:29Speaker 4: crazy and all these mansions. There's one episode where they
- 3:33Speaker 4: leave the mansions they live in to vacation at a
- 3:36Speaker 4: larger mansion. I was just like, what the hell is
- 3:39Speaker 4: going on here?
- 3:40Speaker 6: I gotta tell you this is this season has people
- 3:44Speaker 6: with like the lowest amount of wealth. So like you
- 3:46Speaker 6: got to watch like Beverly Hills or something like, this
- 3:49Speaker 6: is not really Hills. And I would like to say
- 3:52Speaker 6: that my sister lives in a duplex, like and they
- 3:57Speaker 6: always show her house like halfway. It's like because there's
- 3:59Speaker 6: an other house connected to her house. This is not
- 4:02Speaker 6: what a normal season of Rhode Island looks like. But
- 4:07Speaker 6: I really love the fact that you guys relate to
- 4:11Speaker 6: her because everyone's asking for more drama, more drama, more drama,
- 4:15Speaker 6: Like she doesn't have any drama to give, but I'm
- 4:17Speaker 6: glad she's giving something.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's ridiculous. You need someone to compare
- 4:24Speaker 5: the rest of them too. I've watched, unlike Chad, I've
- 4:28Speaker 5: watched pretty much every single Housewife ind dedication, So I
- 4:33Speaker 5: have thank you very much. No one is thank No
- 4:37Speaker 5: one is like, you know, I've watched it all and
- 4:44Speaker 5: I can definitively say this is one of the best
- 4:47Speaker 5: I've seen. It reminds me of early New Jersey. My
- 4:50Speaker 5: favorites are Salt Lake City and Potomac And like, I
- 4:53Speaker 5: couldn't tell anyone a part episode one, and by the
- 4:57Speaker 5: end I was like, these are my best friends and
- 5:00Speaker 5: enemies and I'm obsessed.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Like, ugh, Lizzie, I gotta get your perspective here, because Lauren,
- 5:10Speaker 2: Laura and I are new to this franchise. Ashley was
- 5:13Speaker 2: new to the franchise. She'd never watched a season. Obviously,
- 5:15Speaker 2: chat is as well, we haven't had anybody on that
- 5:19Speaker 2: is a super fan of the franchise.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So you've watched every represent them all.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I would love to hear why not out of curiosity
- 5:29Speaker 2: of what has drawn you in to say I want
- 5:32Speaker 2: to watch all of them? And then I have some
- 5:34Speaker 2: follow up questions based on your response earlier. But like,
- 5:37Speaker 2: at first, let's start there.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Well, what made me watch all of them?
- 5:45Speaker 3: Or is there a character or storyline that like kept
- 5:47Speaker 3: you home?
- 5:47Speaker 5: I'm trying to heard of like what I started with,
- 5:50Speaker 5: it probably was Beverly Hills, just because I live in
- 5:54Speaker 5: LA And maybe God, maybe it was vander Pump Rules.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Maybe I went from vander Pomp to Beverly Hills. I
- 6:03Speaker 5: don't know. Those shows are to me perfect television, Like
- 6:08Speaker 5: absolutely I would rather do as an original vander Pomp
- 6:13Speaker 5: and Summer House watcher. The last year has just been
- 6:17Speaker 5: really fulfilling for me with all of them.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Ben, do you know what's going on in Summerhouse or not?
- 6:24Speaker 2: I think, Oh way, I think I do. There's like
- 6:29Speaker 2: Ashley was explaining it to me during one of the episodes,
- 6:33Speaker 2: like there was a love triangle, somebody got hurt and
- 6:38Speaker 2: the couple is unapologetic about hurting people. Is I think
- 6:42Speaker 2: my understanding.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Yeah. The the Best Friend betrayal, I think is the
- 6:48Speaker 5: main thing that people are hung up on this uh
- 6:52Speaker 5: Amanda Batulla betraying Sierra Miller, and Sierra is now co
- 6:58Speaker 5: hosting Love Island after some she's taking off, so like Marianna.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, yeah, you just have to get hurt
- 7:08Speaker 2: on TV deeply and your career will just skyrocket and
- 7:12Speaker 2: be the benefits are far outweigh the negatives.
- 7:18Speaker 4: That's what we call the victimization edit. It's as a
- 7:21Speaker 4: standard play in any group dating format on TV.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, do you guys watch this show? Though you just
- 7:28Speaker 2: said it, Lizzie and I want to hear from all
- 7:29Speaker 2: of you. I love Chad. You mentioned Ashley's opening to
- 7:36Speaker 2: the Real Housewives in my mind. I only remember because
- 7:39Speaker 2: I was so nervous to watch this. Everybody was telling
- 7:43Speaker 2: her the Bravo fandom is real. They're harsh. This thing
- 7:47Speaker 2: is a machine. It can eat you up and spit
- 7:50Speaker 2: you out. She was I think Laura would test, like
- 7:53Speaker 2: at least going into it very I don't know, nervous,
- 7:56Speaker 2: but she just didn't know how they would like receive her.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And I remember that for the first scene I remember
- 8:02Speaker 2: from this season is her sitting down on a beach
- 8:04Speaker 2: and they're talking about butt stuff and polygamy. And I
- 8:07Speaker 2: know my friend Ashley, and I'm like, this is insane,
- 8:10Speaker 2: Like this has to be so uncomfortable for her right now.
- 8:15Speaker 2: So you said, you watch this and you see your
- 8:17Speaker 2: friends in it? Do you guys all see your friends
- 8:21Speaker 2: in this?
- 8:21Speaker 4: Like?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Is that a real thing?
- 8:23Speaker 5: I They're like my favorite like characters. The one liners
- 8:28Speaker 5: are hilarious. I love that people go on these shows
- 8:33Speaker 5: thinking that people won't find out about their affairs or
- 8:36Speaker 5: their shady business dealings. That's like a huge runner through
- 8:39Speaker 5: all of the franchises.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like.
- 8:42Speaker 5: I was cheating or embezzling aid taxes.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I need yeah, I need to know.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Like, since we're talking about cheating and stuff, why do
- 8:54Speaker 6: you think why do you think people go on the
- 8:56Speaker 6: show knowing that it's gonna be a huge any like
- 9:00Speaker 6: a huge deal? Is their cheating scandal like it's gonna
- 9:03Speaker 6: come out? Do you think it's just money and fame.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it's money and fame. I mean to me, it's
- 9:07Speaker 4: like bachelors like this too, and all group dating formats. Really,
- 9:11Speaker 4: all reality shows are pro wrestling. You are going into
- 9:14Speaker 4: the show and you are creating a character that is
- 9:17Speaker 4: based either loosely on yourself, mainly on yourself, or it
- 9:21Speaker 4: can be completely fabricated, like Harry Jousey does so in
- 9:25Speaker 4: the same way that pro wrestling is like that, your
- 9:27Speaker 4: pro wrestling persona can be like a crazy zombie like Undertaker,
- 9:31Speaker 4: or it can be somebody who's like, actually you like
- 9:33Speaker 4: Cody Rhodes, and all of that can work. Primarily, though,
- 9:39Speaker 4: I think a person who goes into a show like Housewives,
- 9:42Speaker 4: you are looking at all the other franchise superstars who
- 9:45Speaker 4: have come before you in the other various Housewives like
- 9:47Speaker 4: Lisa Vander Pumper, whatever, and you're saying, this is my
- 9:49Speaker 4: shot to be that. And if that means my husband
- 9:52Speaker 4: has goar to jail or I've got to air or
- 9:55Speaker 4: dirty laundry or whatever, so be it. That's the era
- 9:57Speaker 4: we live in now. That doesn't really matter or going
- 10:01Speaker 4: to jail or having crimes or any of that in
- 10:04Speaker 4: terms of diminishing your fame. It's more about can I
- 10:08Speaker 4: maintain an a story in this ensemble narrative that is
- 10:12Speaker 4: being put together on a weekly basis. Can I be
- 10:14Speaker 4: the center of it? And you see some characters are
- 10:17Speaker 4: rising to that occasion. I would say, like Liz, for example,
- 10:21Speaker 4: there's no story happening in this season that she's not
- 10:23Speaker 4: weighing heavily on and potentially even making herself the center
- 10:27Speaker 4: of And that's really how to kind of play the
- 10:29Speaker 4: Housewives game.
- 10:30Speaker 5: I also would say that I think a lot of
- 10:33Speaker 5: people going on these shows underestimate the Bravo fan base.
- 10:37Speaker 5: The I'm a private investigator now for the Summer House
- 10:42Speaker 5: scandal and figuring out the timeline of it, unpaid so far,
- 10:49Speaker 5: I've been going back and rewatching all of it. But
- 10:52Speaker 5: the internet is also and like they are finding like.
- 10:56Speaker 6: The yeah, I mean Brian's mistress I hope comes into
- 11:01Speaker 6: play next season. Do you think that Rula and Brian
- 11:03Speaker 6: are gonna show up for next season? Because I know
- 11:06Speaker 6: at the end of Okay Another Reunion the Fine the finale,
- 11:09Speaker 6: Brian said, we're the most popular at the table. So
- 11:12Speaker 6: it's like what you said, he doesn't care what's coming
- 11:15Speaker 6: out as long as you're the most famous.
- 11:17Speaker 4: It's exactly like pro wrestling. Pro wrestling has the baby
- 11:19Speaker 4: faces who are your good guys, and they have the
- 11:21Speaker 4: heels who are the bad guys that the audience loves
- 11:24Speaker 4: to hate. This is the exact same thing. We love
- 11:28Speaker 4: to hate these people. That's why the audience is so
- 11:30Speaker 4: like adamant in the hatred, and I know like it
- 11:33Speaker 4: translates slightly differently pro wrestling, largely the fan base accepts
- 11:37Speaker 4: that the persona's created are fake and the outcomes are fake.
- 11:41Speaker 4: In reality TV, I think that line hasn't quite been
- 11:44Speaker 4: cross yet. We're still in like what I would call
- 11:46Speaker 4: the pre attitude era of reality TV, where most people
- 11:49Speaker 4: think it's completely one hundred percent real. I think all
- 11:52Speaker 4: of us would agree it's not you know.
- 11:54Speaker 5: But Mishelle Obama just said on her podcast that reality
- 11:57Speaker 5: TV is acting.
- 11:58Speaker 6: So yeah, I would say, I'm sortain a lot of
- 12:02Speaker 6: Bravo talking about Yeah Housewives. But I think that Brian
- 12:08Speaker 6: and Rula, if this is their game to be the
- 12:11Speaker 6: most famous out of everyone, are probably pissed because they
- 12:14Speaker 6: have Rula has the least amount of followers on Instagram.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Do you think that tells a lot. Yeah, she only
- 12:20Speaker 6: has forty thousand. I think she's trying to figure out.
- 12:22Speaker 6: She's reaching out to other people, how do I grow
- 12:24Speaker 6: my following because apparently that's very important to them.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's important. I mean that number next to their head.
- 12:30Speaker 4: This is like something that we kind of talk about
- 12:31Speaker 4: on Game roses a lot. All professional sports other than
- 12:35Speaker 4: reality TV, the money you make as an athlete is
- 12:39Speaker 4: dictated by the owner of that team. So if you
- 12:42Speaker 4: get signed to an NFL team or whatever, you're gonna
- 12:44Speaker 4: get your signing bonus, maybe you're gonna get if you
- 12:46Speaker 4: get an MVP or you win a Super Bowl, you
- 12:48Speaker 4: get other bonuses, whatever, But the team, the owner of
- 12:51Speaker 4: that team, is dictating how much you make in reality TV,
- 12:53Speaker 4: we the audience dictate how much you make. We put
- 12:57Speaker 4: that number next to your head. So if we want
- 12:59Speaker 4: you to have a good life life and we want
- 13:00Speaker 4: to see you on the next season, We're going to
- 13:02Speaker 4: give you the number, and then you get your spawn
- 13:04Speaker 4: con and you get all the other benefits that come
- 13:05Speaker 4: with that. But I think from my understanding, I look
- 13:09Speaker 4: back through the instagrams and stuff a couple of days ago,
- 13:11Speaker 4: Ashley is still way on top, still.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Number one, represent yes by.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Hundreds of thousands of followers. The next closest is around
- 13:19Speaker 4: two hundred k. I think at Liz.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Sure, Actually, I think surprisingly Liz has the second lowest.
- 13:25Speaker 6: I think she's like seventy thousand followers right now, and
- 13:27Speaker 6: I'm shocked by the number.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Yes, Liz is one of my favorite characters.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I know, I don't. She's wild, born to be a housewife, unreal.
- 13:38Speaker 3: My True Colors are beautiful.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Episode where they go to the cut. They're messing around
- 13:49Speaker 4: with like the guys who are working at the castle,
- 13:51Speaker 4: and some of them are like flirting with them or whatever.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Liz is like goes up in ways in a bed,
- 13:55Speaker 4: is like I'm fifty six years old. I'm too old
- 13:57Speaker 4: to be flirted with these twenty one year old guys.
- 13:59Speaker 4: But it's like, but you will get in petty arguments
- 14:02Speaker 4: with your thirty year old friends every five minutes.
- 14:06Speaker 6: Is not addressed enough. Yes, I know that is so funny.
- 14:22Speaker 2: We've gone through this and I'm still perplexed. I agree
- 14:26Speaker 2: with you. I don't know if I'm convinced, because this
- 14:30Speaker 2: whole thing feels so detrimental for their participants, not all
- 14:34Speaker 2: of them, like really only one or two of them.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Is fame that intoxicating that you're okay seeing your husband
- 14:41Speaker 2: like whist away, Yeah, and you're saying, why are they.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Doing it if they're already rich?
- 14:47Speaker 6: You know, yeah, I can't make that much more money
- 14:51Speaker 6: on Instagram now anyways, unless like you're an og or
- 14:54Speaker 6: like you're really making your one hundred percent business. But
- 14:56Speaker 6: like it's not a lot of cash in anymore because
- 14:58Speaker 6: it's so for saturated.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But to be like a so I mean, some of
- 15:02Speaker 4: these franchises, these Housewives franchises are going into like season fifteen,
- 15:06Speaker 4: and you know it's like if you establish yourself in
- 15:09Speaker 4: season one of one of these franchises ten years from now,
- 15:12Speaker 4: who knows how much money you're making off of it?
- 15:14Speaker 2: Do you know how much? Like do we have a guest?
- 15:16Speaker 2: Do you guys have a guess on how much you make?
- 15:18Speaker 2: If you're fifteen seasons in as a cast member, you.
- 15:22Speaker 6: Get to renegotiate every season, so theyiate every season.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I don't think like, but it's also a reality show,
- 15:29Speaker 4: so it's never like you know, and we're in this
- 15:32Speaker 4: era right now in entertainment where like everything that's so
- 15:35Speaker 4: much being produced and budgets are being cut. I'm guessing
- 15:38Speaker 4: you're probably top of the top. I bet you're making
- 15:42Speaker 4: five hundred grand an episode if you're like Lisa vander
- 15:44Speaker 4: Pump at the height of Household of Beverly Hills. I
- 15:48Speaker 4: don't have money, yes, but it's not like they had
- 15:52Speaker 4: money or Seinfeld. And then you get you get a
- 15:56Speaker 4: season desist with a nine million dollars check attached to it.
- 16:00Speaker 6: I have to know quickly, since you brob Chris Harrison,
- 16:02Speaker 6: why do we call Jesse Palmer like the dark Lord
- 16:05Speaker 6: or something?
- 16:10Speaker 2: List.
- 16:11Speaker 4: This is one of the most surreal moments I've ever
- 16:12Speaker 4: had in my life. That Lord is asking me why
- 16:15Speaker 4: we call Chrisson or Jesse Palmer or dark Lord? Yeah, Lizzie,
- 16:19Speaker 4: do you wanna?
- 16:23Speaker 3: I think you should do it. Chad, I think this
- 16:26Speaker 3: is okay. I'll do it for you.
- 16:29Speaker 4: So when we Lizzie and I first started watching The
- 16:31Speaker 4: Bachelor together, we kind of noticed there was a thing
- 16:34Speaker 4: that Chris har This was back in I believe we
- 16:36Speaker 4: started watching in season nineteen Chris souls together.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Fantastic place to start, yea, yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 4: It was a great season. Of course, had some real
- 16:44Speaker 4: good players in it. I think you know one of them.
- 16:47Speaker 4: We kind of saw what Chris Harrison was doing as
- 16:51Speaker 4: a devilish, kind of demonic host of this show who
- 16:56Speaker 4: seemed to take pleasure in the suffering that he visited
- 16:59Speaker 4: upon and players. Specifically in season nineteen, when Chris sols
- 17:03Speaker 4: flies away, leaving Ashley Aya Kennetti and uh yeah to
- 17:10Speaker 4: die in the bad Lands, it just seemed like there's
- 17:13Speaker 4: a sinister kind of tone to this. And then we
- 17:16Speaker 4: went back and watched all the seasons and we saw
- 17:18Speaker 4: the exact change in Chris Harrison in season four when
- 17:21Speaker 4: he became a true dark lord, literally enjoyed people crying
- 17:25Speaker 4: and things. And then as time went on, we started
- 17:27Speaker 4: to notice that same kind of quality and every reality
- 17:30Speaker 4: TV show host. Certainly, Jesse Palmer has crossed the line.
- 17:32Speaker 4: He now enjoys the suffering, and so we just call
- 17:35Speaker 4: them all dark lords. Basically, if you host a reality
- 17:38Speaker 4: show at a certain point, after enough cycles of seeing
- 17:41Speaker 4: people forcing a nervous breakdowns and tears and whatever, you
- 17:45Speaker 4: you either enjoy it or at the very least you
- 17:47Speaker 4: become apathetic toward it, and that makes you, in our mind,
- 17:49Speaker 4: a dark lord.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Oh thank you for that.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Lord. We call dark lords the host of the shows.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm really glad you took that one. Absolutely. I
- 17:58Speaker 3: was like, this is the funniest thing ever seen because.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Jesse, Okay, she has dark Lord Andy Cohen.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Of all time Alan coming on Traders.
- 18:11Speaker 6: I was gonna say, like, if that was that was
- 18:12Speaker 6: the og basically, but not really because it's new, but
- 18:15Speaker 6: he doesn't play it.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Well.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, let's I mean, let's transition this into Andy Cohen.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Andy Cohen is a fascinating figure to me. He has
- 18:25Speaker 2: spread his tentacles into so many projects that are doing
- 18:29Speaker 2: so well. I've watched the what do they call the
- 18:32Speaker 2: after show things, Watch what Happens, Watch what Happens Live. Yeah,
- 18:37Speaker 2: he's for any skill set that we've seen another reality television.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Andy Cohen can sit through the mess and carry the
- 18:47Speaker 2: mess better than anybody I've seen. I mean they He
- 18:49Speaker 2: can have chaos in that room. He can be digging
- 18:53Speaker 2: in That's why I'm so excited for this reunion. He
- 18:56Speaker 2: can be digging into the most personal places in your
- 18:59Speaker 2: life and just open up the can and let it
- 19:03Speaker 2: flow out better than anybody.
- 19:05Speaker 5: He will just like read out the most insane thing
- 19:09Speaker 5: you've ever heard about someone, and it'll be like Shannon
- 19:11Speaker 5: from New York says blah blah blah and it's like
- 19:15Speaker 5: so horrific He's.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Like and nobody hates on Andy Cohen for it, and
- 19:23Speaker 2: not that they should. I'm not saying he's he's doing
- 19:25Speaker 2: his job, but he can say stuff that you're like,
- 19:30Speaker 2: I would never confront that, and he says it and
- 19:33Speaker 2: just lets it sit there and nobody's giving him any criticism.
- 19:36Speaker 2: They're celebrating him.
- 19:37Speaker 5: But that's like he could be phoning it in at
- 19:39Speaker 5: this point, but he's not. He's in it.
- 19:42Speaker 4: But that's also part of dark lording is like you
- 19:44Speaker 4: are kind of inoculated from the negative public sentiment. Take
- 19:49Speaker 4: for example, Jesse Palmer, who uttered the now famous phrase
- 19:53Speaker 4: to Jen Tran on her after the final rows do
- 19:56Speaker 4: you want to watch this back? In reference to her
- 19:58Speaker 4: proposal to demonstrator, and she says, do I have a choice?
- 20:01Speaker 4: That moment to me was the end of the Bachelor franchise.
- 20:03Speaker 4: It was the nail in the coffin. And now we're
- 20:05Speaker 4: existing in a world where we have a calendar year
- 20:08Speaker 4: without Maine Bachelor product, no Bachelor Bachelorette or I guess
- 20:12Speaker 4: you can throw a Bachelor in Paradi season ten as
- 20:14Speaker 4: an example of maybe we have a little bit of something,
- 20:16Speaker 4: but whatever, that's a rebuilding season if anything. But I
- 20:20Speaker 4: think like the Dark Lords primarily are the voice of
- 20:23Speaker 4: the show as the producers want it to be said,
- 20:27Speaker 4: you know, and Andy Cohen is just like he's been
- 20:29Speaker 4: doing it for so long that he has become the
- 20:32Speaker 4: face of the franchise basically, and it's like he's immune
- 20:36Speaker 4: to all of that. I don't know what would have
- 20:38Speaker 4: to happen for people to get mad at him, right.
- 20:40Speaker 6: I think that the Bravo viewers like are craving the messiness,
- 20:44Speaker 6: whereas like Bachelor of viewers love thinking they're watching like
- 20:47Speaker 6: a person fall in love and it's all romance. And
- 20:50Speaker 6: there's no producing or anything like that. So yeah, the
- 20:52Speaker 6: Bravo fans can handle the messy stuff Like on Summer House.
- 20:55Speaker 6: I think Andy Cohen was like in the reunion, he
- 20:58Speaker 6: was like, are you on a beta blocker right now?
- 21:00Speaker 6: Like collingsone ever Nigma Bata blocker is so savage, but
- 21:04Speaker 6: that's something that dark Lord Jesse Palmer could never do.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true.
- 21:09Speaker 5: I was so happy that was asked because everyone was
- 21:12Speaker 5: wondering that no good.
- 21:25Speaker 2: So, Chad, you did catch up on the Real Housewives
- 21:28Speaker 2: of Rhode Island. This is your first season. Are you
- 21:32Speaker 2: hooked enough to dive into season two gladly? Or are
- 21:37Speaker 2: you gonna have to be convinced to watch season two?
- 21:39Speaker 4: I think as long as Ashley is in it, I
- 21:42Speaker 4: will watch it because there is just such a thrill
- 21:46Speaker 4: that I get from seeing her play again. She really
- 21:48Speaker 4: is one of my favorite players of all time across
- 21:50Speaker 4: any franchise. I think she did something back in Crystal
- 21:54Speaker 4: season that was so unique to reality dating television. It
- 21:57Speaker 4: kind of like reformed what was even possible in terms
- 22:00Speaker 4: of tear play, in terms of rivalry play, like she
- 22:03Speaker 4: was a personal virginity card play. I would say she's
- 22:06Speaker 4: maybe second place all time to Madison. Prove it on
- 22:09Speaker 4: that I will watch or do anything in the future,
- 22:13Speaker 4: and so if she's in season two, I assume in
- 22:15Speaker 4: an elevated capacity, if they're going to ask her back,
- 22:17Speaker 4: one hundred percent, I'm in. And I also like seeing
- 22:21Speaker 4: you know, Audrey's has been like kind of a thing
- 22:23Speaker 4: we've talked about on our show. When they opened it,
- 22:25Speaker 4: we were like, this is such a good idea, and
- 22:27Speaker 4: now I don't know how much of it is like real.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I assume with Ashley and Jared it probably is real
- 22:32Speaker 4: that they're having some like, oh, should we close.
- 22:34Speaker 5: The season two to see if they were the least.
- 22:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm interested if you find that storyline interesting at all.
- 22:42Speaker 4: To me, Yes, because I'm like, I have a million ideas.
- 22:45Speaker 4: I'm like, you should turn it into a reality TV
- 22:48Speaker 4: watching place where you're playing every episode of Love Island,
- 22:51Speaker 4: you're playing every episode of Bachelor, whatever reality series is on.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Pack people in there, give them some drinks, and turn
- 22:57Speaker 4: it into a kind of like, for lack of a
- 22:59Speaker 4: better term, sports bar for reality TV.
- 23:01Speaker 3: But have you relayd this? Have you relayed that information, Ashley.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I'm doing it right now.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Is this such a good idea? Oh my gosh, Okay,
- 23:11Speaker 6: I love that so much. So do you guys have
- 23:15Speaker 6: a side that you're on for the Kelsey Rosie rivalry
- 23:19Speaker 6: because I don't know if we're going to see that
- 23:21Speaker 6: in season two, But who would you pick if you
- 23:23Speaker 6: were to be your player? I should say, I'm so
- 23:29Speaker 6: curious what add the response is going to be.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I think, God, I'm curious what your response is going
- 23:35Speaker 4: to be.
- 23:38Speaker 5: I don't even know why, but I am on Rosie's
- 23:40Speaker 5: side one hundred percent.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Maybe because of Ashley.
- 23:43Speaker 4: I think Rosie has kind of like the narrative behind her.
- 23:47Speaker 4: She seemingly is the one being presented as the babyface
- 23:50Speaker 4: here and that Kelsey is kind of the worst person
- 23:53Speaker 4: in the heel or whatever. But I think Kelsey's a
- 23:55Speaker 4: better reality player. I have to say it. I think
- 23:58Speaker 4: she's got more too to work with and her story
- 24:02Speaker 4: now of being freed from this relationship and she's going
- 24:05Speaker 4: to pursue this other relationship with the guy that maybe
- 24:07Speaker 4: is like emotionally more viable than the kind of sugar
- 24:11Speaker 4: daddy relationship she's had for however long. I think that's
- 24:14Speaker 4: a more interesting story than what Rosie has going on.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I think there's a I think there's an opportunity for
- 24:19Speaker 2: a huge redemption story for Kelsey. I wonder if she
- 24:23Speaker 2: comes back completely changing season two because of the relationship,
- 24:28Speaker 2: because of the stability. I found it fascinating. I think
- 24:32Speaker 2: it was an uh. I think it was kind of
- 24:36Speaker 2: the underdog storyline of the last episode was when they
- 24:39Speaker 2: showed Kelsey learning how to sign a check. Yeah, and
- 24:43Speaker 2: that made.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Me kind of feel for her a little bit.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I won't name names, but there is a bachelorette who
- 24:49Speaker 2: you know, got paid very well, who came off the
- 24:51Speaker 2: season and I was in the room when she asked,
- 24:54Speaker 2: how do I sign a check? Like I don't know
- 24:56Speaker 2: if this is that uncommon of, but I love that
- 25:01Speaker 2: scene because for most people, they learn how to sign
- 25:05Speaker 2: a check and their teenage, but she's that far behind,
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like that's kind of where life has to catch up.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And I'm wondering if we're going to kind of watch
- 25:13Speaker 2: her evolve into you know, very similar PI person, but
- 25:17Speaker 2: an actual adult that happens.
- 25:20Speaker 5: To the arrested development of it go to a grocery store.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yes, if I'm her, I'm dumping that guy immediately.
- 25:29Speaker 3: That's what I said.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Immediately her sweet man. Yeah great, he's fine whatever. He's
- 25:35Speaker 4: not a reality TV star and she is, and she needs.
- 25:38Speaker 4: In my opinion, her season two arc is I'm single
- 25:41Speaker 4: for the first time in my life as an adult.
- 25:43Speaker 4: I'm learning how to sign checks. I got to get
- 25:45Speaker 4: my own place, I got to get a job, and
- 25:48Speaker 4: I'm back out in that dating pool. Let's see the
- 25:50Speaker 4: guys that she has to deal with in Rhode Island.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Please, That's what I said last week.
- 25:55Speaker 6: I was like, she has Patriots players in her DMS currently.
- 26:00Speaker 6: That would or a Red Sox player. No, I don't
- 26:02Speaker 6: know this. Actually, this is not factual. This is not factual.
- 26:05Speaker 6: But they're there. Okay, they're there. Tom Brady saw her
- 26:11Speaker 6: on the yacht, now, okay, so that is the storyline.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Billy can wait another couple of years if he, you know,
- 26:16Speaker 6: wants to watch her bloom into this rallity star.
- 26:19Speaker 5: I've never lived alone in my life. I need to
- 26:21Speaker 5: become me.
- 26:23Speaker 6: I need to see her lighting candles for an NFL
- 26:25Speaker 6: player to come over to our house.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Furniture. Yeah, I totally.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Agree, but and that too, Like I don't know if
- 26:33Speaker 4: it's it's like the Bachelor kind of mentality creeping in
- 26:36Speaker 4: a little bit, like she could easily be a player
- 26:38Speaker 4: on the Bachelor easily, and so it's like, why not
- 26:42Speaker 4: just make your own little kind of bachelorette storyline in
- 26:45Speaker 4: season two? She has that the tools to do it.
- 26:48Speaker 5: If I were a Rosie, I would create a relationship drama.
- 26:51Speaker 5: I would create like a fake cheating you were the guy.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, guys, we have so much more to cover.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Let's take a pause here and come back and rehash
- 27:02Speaker 2: more of the real Housewives of Rhode Island.
