- Jonathan Crawford: On tonight's card, we discussed Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling at Maple Leaf Gardens. Our PSA sub is back and we discuss comps, grading, and a whole lot more. And Mr. Cartel, how are we doing this evening? Cartel: doing just wonderful. The cartel is here fully embracing the fall, as you can see. All I need is a pumpkin spice latte, although I kind of look like a pumpkin spice latte at the moment. Hobby hosers and hobby heroes. Both of you, welcome to the show. And as you mentioned, we are fresh off of having seen an incredible pro wrestling show live at Maple Leaf Gardens, aka it's called Something Else Now. And I'm having an Alzheimer's moment. Jonathan Crawford: Anatomy Athletic Center. Cartel: The Matomie Athletic S everything is called Something Else in Toronto now, folks, just in case you didn't know. And what a show! What a show it was. Edge, aka Cope, aka Adam Copeland returning to Toronto, a homecoming, although he is from Orangeville. Yet more Orange stuff. And had never wrestled before at Mape Leave Gardens, and we got to see it all play out. It was an absolutely incredible show. I have trouble calling it an indie show. People referring to it as an indie wrestling show felt like far more than that, didn't it? Jonathan Crawford: no, absolutely. I didn't even think I didn't even consider it an indie show. I know I understand it is, but with all the big names they had on the card, it it definitely had a big fight feel. Cartel: Absolutely. A lot of local talent. Foremost among them in my mind and in and in your son's mind, Psycho Mike, who who brought his body slam to the gardens. Absolutely great showing from a lot of local talent that you that you see when you're out there catching shows in the GTA from Smash Wrestling, Super Kick, etc. It's a great scene in Toronto, and there's a lot of talent, and of course, joined by individuals like Andrade, El Idolo, Johnny TV, aka Johnny Mundo, Johnny Nitro, I'm gonna forget people, but Mascara Dorada was a big one for me and and of course we saw the Canadian title the MLP Canadian title between Stu Grayson and Josh Alexander that was like that was one of those like Dave Meltzer would give it five stars at at the Tokyo Dome matches. Am I wrong? Like tiger drivers, all sorts of pile drivers, all sorts of suplexes onto the ramp, onto the floor, onto the mat, out of the door. It was awesome. Fantastic match. And then of course culminating in Copeland. boy. Taking on an interview Macklin, Steve Macklin. Was that his name? The return of the Jonathan Crawford: Steve Macklin, you got it, yeah. Cartel: Steve Macklin. And he put on a great show too, and they brawled all over the gardens. What were your thoughts on some of those incredible matches, man? Jonathan Crawford: Yeah, I liked I mean like you said, yeah, there were a lot of really, really great matches. My son loved the psycho mic, the gimmick, the match, all the spots they did. It was like a like a hardcore triple threat match. he had a lot of fun with that. He took a picture with the broken table after the show as well. Cartel: And that one broke during the Copeland match, I believe. Off the off the yeah, Jonathan Crawford: that there in Copeland? Cartel: off the top turnbuckle to the outside. We didn't have a great view of it until we went down there. But yeah, that was that was Copeland putting himself and Macklin through the table on the outside. Jonathan Crawford: there you go. Okay, okay. But yeah, I I liked I saw a clip after the show of Copeland talking about how the match was a love letter to Maple Leaf Gardens, which I'm like, that makes total sense. Like there was the whole Kogan homage with the big boot and a leg drop, Cartel: That's right. That's right. Jonathan Crawford: getting stuck in the ropes like Andre, and then dancing at the end like junkie or a dog. and then something else I didn't really catch. was he said that he did the moves of his tag team partners and Steve Macklin did the moves of his main opponents throughout his career. I'm like, damn, that was why it was such a good match. Cartel: Yeah, that that w the Yeah, we might have trouble with the the Maclin stuff, but Edge definitely he used the unprettier. d did he did we see an RKO? Jonathan Crawford: Yeah, he did RKO. Cartel: Now he also I I gotta think Edge also teamed up with Mysterio. Did we see a six one nine? Can't remember, I don't think so. I I I don't know. Did you think of any of the other tag team partners? Jonathan Crawford: he talked about a few in the clip. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I remember like Steve Macklin did the the attitude adjustment for Cena and then a few other ones. Cartel: Right, yeah. We we saw a cross face crippler and and we did Jonathan Crawford: That's right, yes. Cartel: also see a headbutt off the top with the goaltender mask on onto Copeland. the the main point being here, we saw some incredibly well produced laid out matches that would be reserved for like the high end PLE matches, if it was like WWE or AEW, and we saw them one after the other. very impressive. super, super happy that we got to get that kind of night of pro wrestling in Toronto and so positive for the scene in general. We saw the the women's championship, the former Gigi Dolan and and Nikki Cross. that was an entertaining match as well. So yeah, just a lot of talent, a lot of great matches, a heck of a night of wrestling, six hours or so of professional. Jonathan Crawford: It it was it was a long night, yeah, especially for my for my son. But you you got the chance to actually meet Copeland. I was gonna ask you what what was he like behind the scenes? Cartel: That's right, maybe I spread some microbes to Adam Cochra. But yeah, Jonathan Crawford: Ha ha. Cartel: I I somehow the cartel somehow finagled his way backstage and He was doing a meet and greet. I got to sit down with him and share a few words. He is a great dude, very chill as you can imagine. Got some autographs. We got to talking about rookie cards and his his cards the same way I did with Brett Hart last year, where Brett mistakenly thought that that picture on the back of the OPG cards of the wrestler in the weird pose with the weird hair was him. And I famously forgot to tell him that though that's on the back of all the cards. It's a generic rustler. It's not you, Brett. So I lo I missed my opportunity to calm down one of the things making Brett Hart angry. And he's a very angry dude. So I need to correct this somehow. He's always in Toronto, so maybe I will get an opportunity to correct this. I want to calm him down, even if it's just by like one power bar point. and Edge was great. Jonathan Crawford: May maybe one day we can get him on the pod quickly and we can just clarify that point for him. Cartel: Ab absolutely. We just we need to we need to discuss something very important, but trust us. and then with Adam Copeland, first of all I let him know that he was my personal pokeroo, which you gotta kick out of. I used to bump into Jay, I guess. I'm not I'm not trying to be cool by calling, but he referred to him as Jay. Christian. On the streets of Toronto all the time, back when I lived. in a certain section of the downtown area all the time and you know, I remember one time I'm like, Hey, where's Adam? and I I think he said Adam can go F himself. at that point. so I I mentioned that to him and we talked about rookie cards and of course their BBM Japanese rookie card which pictures him and Christian and Edgett kind of has a weird look on his face on that card. Maybe we'll bab it a boop bap boop right here. And you know the magic of stuff happening. This is a microphone. This is an orange shirt. There's Toronto card collectors over there. One day we're gonna both be like an ATARTIS. All all of all of the podcasts look like a TARTIS. Artist now, for some reason, if you're a Doctor Who can. and he mentioned that when they were being introduced to the Japanese audience, they were the Canadian Rockies. That was the name of these guys. And they announced them as the Canadian Hockeys. And and that and hence the look on Adam Copeland's face on the card. He's like, What did they just say? Were the the hockey? Jonathan Crawford: So close, so close. Cartel: Actually, think it was like the hockey period, which is like really mysterious. It's kinda like Edge. Right? It's like a mysterious, like Jonathan Crawford: Mm. Cartel: ladies and gentlemen, the hockey. And like these two tall blonde dudes with crazy long hair come out, and it's like, okay, this is intriguing. So that explains the card. I always I always find a way of getting cool card stories out of out of professional wrestlers. So that was very exciting, as you can imagine. Following up on TCC Meeting Dominic Mysterio, SEC meets Ed. Edge, whatever shall be next, we do not know. We do not know. But yeah, that was that was exciting times. Hopefully we'll have some picture of me and Edge being all buddy buddy, maybe on the thumbnail, something like that. But other than that, yeah, I guess we've kind of covered the bases when it comes to the amazing MLP show, which I kept referring to as MLPW for some reason. It is MLP Maple Leaf Rustler. MLP, Maple Leaf Pro Rustling. You can Jonathan Crawford: Pro wrestling, yes, there you go. Cartel: see why I made the mistake of MLPW, but nonetheless, they've got big Jonathan Crawford: It's an honest mistake. It's okay. Cartel: They've got I'm trying not to die here. They've got big plans for next year. Scott Damore is involved. He's a great guy too. He was great backstage. He was such a personal guy. the Magan group, Magan Boys, so many thanks to them actually. I I I I owe them a lot of thanks, and I'll give them some show-outs on Instagram as well. Just amazing event. another amazing event happened, not so amazing for me, but we got our PSA submission back, which was submitted back at the Spring Expo. Always exciting to have PSA Mail Day these days. You had some incredible professional wrestling highlights in that submission. Jonathan Crawford: I had a few nice ones. I had a few nice ones. being understated here. Cartel: Yes. Jonathan Crawford: I mean let's just let's just lead with it, right? Let's just lead with it. Cartel: Unless unless unless you're one of these people who's trying to keep it behind you know, under wraps, which I would totally respect by way. Jonathan Crawford: Maybe I should, given what's been happening recently, maybe I shouldn't be posting publicly about the cards that I have in my possession. but I already posted on my story, so it's too late now. The cat's out of the bag. so Cartel: stalkers are the stalkers are gearing up. They're getting all their Jonathan Crawford: Yeah. Cartel: they're getting their f big sausage fingers ready for their greasy screens. Jonathan Crawford: And it's not just for Halloween that that stalkers are coming out. so I purchased a gold flawless Star Swatch of Stone Cold, I don't even know, maybe a year ago, something like that on eBay. And it was actually like mo most of the flawless cards come in the the sealed cases. Well, all the StarSwatches anyway have those sealed cases with the Panini sticker on them. This one did not. have the sealed sticker on it. So already that's a bit questionable, but Cartel: Sausage fingers may have got it on it, all right, yeah. Jonathan Crawford: You know what I mean? So anyway, I just I took a chance because it's gold out of ten. When am I gonna find another one? it passed eBay authentication at least. So at least I knew that it was legitimate. I didn't know condition obviously, but I got it in hand, inspected it, and I'm like, this looks pretty good. You know, maybe this has a chance at nine, maybe a ten if I'm really lucky. and so here we are six months later and it did in fact get a ten. pop one, as you can imagine. so I was kind of in shock early this week, honestly, when I saw that great reveal. But yeah, I don't know, kinda crazy. Cartel: And was was there not a John C Jonathan Crawford: there's a j I mean, yeah, there was a John C I'm just kidding. Yeah, there was a John Cena finest Cartel: Mm-hmm. Jonathan Crawford: out of five. the red refractor. That one actually I traded for it, I think it was last year in Chip Shawana at trade night. and that was when I had a couple offers on Raw when I when I like picked it up and I was like, nah, rather just hold on to it, and then graded it obviously. And six months later, here we are, got the 10. So yeah, just insane. The the wait time, you know, PSA is what it is now. We know they're slammed and it's not slowing down anytime soon. but I mean one nice thing too is that we didn't get upcharge on on either of those cards. No. Or or the Cena either. Cartel: I was about to ask, you didn't get up charged on the Austin. Wild stuff. I've always I I've I've always found it to be so inconsistent. That is that wow. Well, great. I mean, I don't think it would have played out that way had you done it on site, in person, for sure. Right? Maybe I don't Jonathan Crawford: I agree. Yeah. Cartel: know actually. Now that I'm thinking back on it, I had a Pokemon card that was definitely worth over a thousand dollars. What's the threshold? Fifteen? Do you know? 'Cause I I gra Jonathan Crawford: For on site. Cartel: I graded it on site at the last fall expo and it got a ten and I did not get up charged. But anyway, th they've always been very inconsistent when it comes to that sort of thing. a lot of our order, I guess, was oddball stuff and there was a lot of Pokemon. The only rustling in UFC on my end, so I had a Bruce Buffer rookie card out of 2009 round one. Obviously I'm always looking for those at the expo, and you're not seeing much of anything. I found one dealer who had some of the older stuff. Majority of his prices were pretty wild, but on a base rookie Bruce Buffer is 20 bucks. I gave it a spin because it looked really nice. And you're gonna be getting mostly sevens and eights on round one, and if you're lucky you're gonna gonna get a nine and then of course the tens at this point are highly highly coveted and rare. got a nine on the buffer so I was actually pretty happy about that. I think it's about a $300 card right now but that entire set again so limited first ever UFC set Bruce Buffer rookie card. Bruce Buffer himself is a big sports card guy. I wasn't aware he he actually owns a chain of sports card shops. In case someone listening did not know that buffer And people are really into buffer. His stuff tends to go pretty quick. The only rustling I sent in, certainly nowhere near the level of the modern stuff that you've been dabbling in, but I went in with of a card that I find very cool, and I was really hoping for a PSA 9 for the PC, but it didn't play out, is the Stretch to the Limit 1985 Tops and OP chi card. Which features Hulk Hogan wrestling Antonio Anoki. And I don't know if it's Anoki's rookie, rookie, rookie card, but it's his certainly his first American card. And it's it to me that's just an an incredible card. I had a Tops and an OPG copy that I culled from like maybe a dozen. And you know me, I'm picky. But I think there's no accounting for the way new PSA graders are handling stuff from the eighties. The tops got an eight. I I Would have I would have guessed a nine for the Tops and an 8 for the OPG. The Tops got an 8, the OPG got a 7. Very disappointing. Again, OPG cards are cut a certain way. What you're looking for is basically centering and surface more than anything. So again, you hear about it with hockey as well when it comes to OPG cards. Very questionable and very inconsistent rating going on there. And again, I'm someone some people might call like very professional when it comes to grading. and I got rocked. my my Pokemon submission got rocked. I sent in a metal card that's really difficult to grade that I I think I literally said to you, I don't know why I'm grading this, but I'm giving it a go. It's probably gonna be a nine, and they gemmed it. And then I picked out these the Charizard promos, those promos with the Japanese typography from the the UPCs, picked out two from a ton of them. combed over them guys and got nines. So a lot of inconsistency going on there. I don't know. but nonetheless, cool to be getting some cards back. And yeah so that was that was the PSA submission, but the Austin is unreal. you got some bangers headed your way and just I I think all yeah Jonathan Crawford: Just just a quick note about about the StarSwatches. I saw there was Undertaker StarSwatch out of eight that just sold on October fourth on auction. It did 4,494 USD. And I was mentioning to you the other day how I remember a year ago, I saw another out of eight copy of the same Undertaker StarSwatch. It was up on eBay, and I had the chance to buy it for it was around eleven hundred. And I was kind of humming and hawing about it. I don't know, it's a lot of money at the time, blah, blah, blah. And then the next day when I went back to check again, it already sold. and that's the only basically another one hasn't sold until August or October 4th. So it's been a year. so it went from ten fifty was the actual sale to forty four ninety-four in a year, basically. So sometimes you gotta just pull the trigger when you have the chance. Cartel: Is popping and it it is certainly another lesson in if you find that special card. you may have some serious regrets if you don't take action, you know, and not that this was your case, but again I see far too many people because I've experienced it with my own items that people have been picking up. Don't while you're hemming it literally, while you're hemming and hawing over ten dollars, someone's hitting by it now, as we speak, in this market. And it's a good lesson to remind people. Now when it comes to the grading, and you've been playing the game so well with your with your wrestling picks in terms of pickups, getting them graded, and you know, getting ahead of the market, obviously there are games that people play when it comes to PSA and one of the quick flip games often necessitated using, you know, their basic service and timing things out that way. Very difficult to do that now. the cheaper levels on hold the backlog are there other strategies here there are certainly some smaller grading companies that are trying to take advantage of the situation Not take advantage, but certainly also offer the community some sort of option. have you given any thought to so here we are, we got back our PSA order pretty much I I think when did they make the announcement? Like right after we sent it in or something? Or like around the time that we sent it in, I believe. Yeah. Jonathan Crawford: It was definitely around there, yeah. Yeah. Cartel: So what do we do from here is the question, Jonathan. Jonathan Crawford: I mean it's a good question because for cards like this where the value proposition is so high on them, like I would probably still send them for the whatever they're calling now, standard service. just bite the bullet. But again, it's you gotta be so particular about what you're sending in now, right, at that level. So I think like the the majority of cards that I'd be sending now, I'm not gonna be sending to PSA because the cost, right? so I mean I I know one of my friends, he's been doing a lot of T GA grading. One of the guys in the one of the Facebook wrestling groups, he's been using them quite a bit. And seems like he's been doing pretty well on them. so I mean that's obviously a Canadian company that I'm kind of like looking into. Cartel: he utilizing them? Like maybe look, maybe I'm over analyzing but that's the whole point. I wanna over analyze. Is he just is he a dealer that is grading with them so he has slabs available? Is he using them as almost like a a a grade kind of a certifying what he believes the grade is kind of tool or Does he know or is he just using it to get grades and put his cards out on his table? Jonathan Crawford: Yeah, he just not really a dealer per se. He more does online Cartel: Okay. Jonathan Crawford: online buying and selling. But he his strategy has been buying like any numbered cards, you know, numbered Prism or numbered, you know, sublact or whatever of guys like Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, and then just to have them slabbed, you know, if it gets a nine or a ten, he's able to flip those the thing is too like with wrestling, there's a lot of collectors, right? So it's like Cartel: Yes. Jonathan Crawford: some people are okay with getting an quote unquote off brand rating company just to have the slab, you know, it it presents nicely. If it's a 10, obviously that's you that's a bonus. You know, it's you know, it's mid condition. so it's been interesting kind of seeing him do well on that with a with a Canadian company. Cartel: Ultimately it is still a third party's opinion which helps in the discussion when it comes to condition of some of these cards. So I do think yeah, I think there's definitely a place for it. you know TJ in particular, in in in my just honest opinion, it has shown consistency when I look at their cards. That's kind of the main thing you're looking to get out of a company because if there's consistency you can be a little bit more confident and say to yourself, Okay, if they're saying that this is a nine point five, this is a nice card, right? I'm not missing any sort of big issue that I'm gonna find out about later on with the surface or something like that. And I guess for collec you make a good point that for collectors, where it's not all about the label and it's not all about the sale of the label that play because they just feel more secure. Hey, it's it's protected, it's got subgrades, it's graded. And I suspect some people may be using some of those other companies for the collection purposes and for potentially kind of as a pre grade to just kind of give them more confidence when it comes to moving it on to say Beckett or PSA. And the pricing is making it easy because some of the pricing I've seen as low as fifteen dollars per card kinda makes sense. And I know some of these companies are also going to be offering on site grading at at a show like the Expo. So you can actually get your cards labbed up. and yeah, maybe that even comes in handy for like a low numbered WWE card makes it easier for you to move because there's no question of, is there like a how's the surface? How's this, how's that, and it's all kind of laid out. but I would imagine that would be tough if you're holding a low-numbered in-demand card and it has so much value and you and you look at it and you say, hey, this is really nice, that might be a battle between I think I should just probably maybe just send it off to PSA right away. Depends on your intentions, I guess. Right? Jonathan Crawford: For sure. Yeah, that's the thing too. Like what the current value is, what the you know, PSA ten or whichever company ten could be. I think yeah, it's such a case by case basis, it's hard to kind of give like a one size fits all rule. But I think, yeah, like the lower the lower price point definitely opens up more opportunity for things that you you just can't grade right now. Like you're not gonna grade spend eighty five dollars to grade a card that raw is, you know. Cartel: Yeah. Jonathan Crawford: twenty, thirty dollars, right? So Cartel: In in hockey in hockey it's it's like the young gun conundrum. Like the young guns that are generally in that eight that price range are gonna be very difficult to justify grading for eighty five dollars. and PSA Bit Beckett will be at the expo, right? slabbing on site, it will be expensive. Jonathan Crawford: That's what they advertised, the Expo advertised that on their email this week. Yeah. Cartel: And you know, and I don't know, last show there was a fiasco for Beckett, they closed down the raw card review very early. if you are planning on using PSA or Beckett at the Expo, all I can tell you is you better have a good game plan coming in. 'cause that that always Jonathan Crawford: Get in with somebody early. That was my mistake last time. Yeah. Get in with somebody early that can do a a bulk submission or whatever. Cartel: Sure, gotta have a game plan for that kind of thing. Jonathan Crawford: just one quick question I wanted to ask you actually. Cartel: Yes. Jonathan Crawford: When I sent my flawless to PSA, part of me was like, Am I crazy to not send this to BGS? Because I feel like BGS is typically where you send thicker cards, immaculate, flawless, whatever the case may be. Yeah, what what Cartel: Seems to be the thing, yeah. I Jonathan Crawford: has been your experience? Have you sent any c any thicker cards to PSA? Cartel: I don't think I have. I have sent some thick thick cards to that game. But I I I don't know where all that comes from. I I don't know if it's people think that because there's subrades involved, they're gonna there is the concept that they're just gonna be easier on it. But nonetheless you took the chance and you scored because nothing's gonna beat that PSA ten and it's probably gonna be a pop one for a very long time. So so you did well there. a lot of people also say they like a thick card in a BGS case versus PSA and I get that. When you see a thick card in a PSA case, I kinda get that. As far as aesthetics go. but aesthetics hardly are an issue when you're dealing with a card like that. That's already a beautiful card and now a very value enhanced, beautiful card. And I guess the only other thing we really wanted to touch on, Jonathan, was the concept of, you know, someone coming to you looking for a big card and they've got a card that has seven eight X over the course of a small period of time and trying to use a current comp to try to sway you in a deal. Or the other thing that we've been seeing a lot of is yeah, the last comp was four hundred and fifty dollars back in September of twenty twenty five. Which was an entirely different market than we're seeing right now. And it's coming up popping up a lot when it comes to low population cards, rare cards. Cards that you just don't see every day. And all I would say is people have to really stand their ground and use their their common sense here because yesterday's price is not today's price in a very big way with so much of what's going on right now. obviously you've had that incident with the Mickey Mouse card and your Rock Austin card. Have you come across this as much as I have recently in terms of people trying to justify trying to pick up a a rare card from you? while quoting a very old comp. Jonathan Crawford: Yeah, I mean I don't know, probably not as much as you. but yeah, definitely this week has been eye-opening, I guess you could say. I wrote on my notes here how to not negotiate. And I made some points here. So let me just read a couple of these points. Just things that I've observed. Listen, at the end of the day, you know, I know that. know there there's a business side of things so I try to be professional with everybody that I deal with in person online I try to be respectful Cartel: It's true. Jonathan Crawford: and you know it's sometimes it's it's not always easy but so anyway I'll just read some of my some of my thoughts here. So number one, don't tell somebody that this is the best offer they will ever receive. Number two Don't harass somebody by messaging them multiple times via multiple different channels when they've told you that the card is a PC card. Number three, ask if they actually want to sell the card. Number four, don't use a brand new comp for your card, but a year-old comp for their card. And the last one I wrote here: if you claim you're paying strong, actually be willing to pay strong in the current market. which I think is very important to note in the current market. Cartel: great list. Cover a lot of bases there for sure. it makes me it makes me think back to I'd received a gift. I I'm a huge Randy and Rosa Arena collector. probably one of his bigger collectors. I'm not you know so much dabbling in the one of one you know thousands of dollars of Randy but I'm very comprehensive with his checklist. I try to get everything a PSA ten. his I focus on his rookie year more than anything. And I'd received a gift from someone, very generous gentleman, who sent me a one-of-one with a patch off of the Rays logo. Beautiful, beautiful card. And when I posted it and was thanking the individual for the gift. There's another big Randy Rosa Randy Collector out there. I'm pretty sure we're now blocked because of how this guy came at me. Incredibly aggressive, and just the the guy just shocked that I posted a card, talked about how special it was to me, talked about how it was PC, talked about how it was a gift. And he was just absolutely mind-blown that I didn't want to sell it to him right there, right then and there on the spot. literally. Let him know right away. It wasn't even about and and and he said, Well at least, at least let me make you an offer. I said it's it it doesn't make sense. And I already knew I saw it coming a mile away that the offer's not gonna be good anyway. But I w the point is I wasn't interested. No means no. We gotta learn this. There's a lot of man-child kind of dudes out there. And you know, equal opportunities. Men and women in the hobby, but there's a lot of man-children. can't who can't see things not going their way and get a little bent out of shape. But you as the owner of a card can do whatever you want with it. You can sell it for whatever you want. You're asking too much, you're not gonna sell it. You're asking too little you're gonna sell it and regret it. but it's totally up to you. You as a buyer can make offers. It's never that way though. It's always what is your lowest? It's always will you sell this PC card? That's not the way, you know. If you want to if you wanted to come at me and say, look, I have I have $5,000 and I'd like this card. I know it's special to you. And I respect and appreciate that as a fellow Rosarina collector. And that's why I'm making this ridiculous offer of five thousand dollars. Would you consider it? And if you don't, I totally understand. I'd be we'd probably be both. Buddies right now, whether or not I did or did not accept such an obscene offer, because obviously it's not a $5,000 card. But you you understand what I'm saying. People come in the wrong way, it's aggressive, it's abrasive. Don't do it, don't be one of those people. People talk and and they let one another know about uncomfortable situations like that. And s Jonathan Crawford: That's a really good way to put it, actually. Yeah, I think like, you know, tone matters, like the way you're presenting yourself, the way you're communicating. Like even if I was even if I was looking to move it, what incentive do I have when somebody's being so aggressive and so overt? Cartel: Yes. Jonathan Crawford: Like it's very off-putting. So it's just like, you know, think about the way that you're gonna approach somebody, be respectful. And like you said, right, if if if they say no, then okay, that's you know, like no means no. So I can't believe Cartel: Mm-hmm. Jonathan Crawford: I have to say that out loud, but here we are. Cartel: someone says the sticker is the sticker I'll although Jonathan Crawford: Ha ha ha. Cartel: although it's a little annoying you gotta respect it and you have to understand it because that's someone else's that's Jonathan Crawford: Absolutely, yeah. Cartel: someone else's business and and it and it is it is what it is that being said I just wanted to quickly do a bit of a self-promotion here Still trying struggling to survive. I've got some very cool items up. The type of items that you're not gonna talk about comps because they're really aren't comps. So that to me is really interesting stuff. And you may be asking, why am I selling some of this stuff? That's personal as well, but ultimately I'm trying to move these cards that are very difficult to negotiate with people with. So the idea is put it out there on a big platform, in this case Lab Sharks, and see what happens. Is basically all there is to do about it. So I've got two I've got a bunch of cards up, but a couple very interesting cards in particular. One of them being the 1936 Reems German Olympics card featuring K.G. Honma, T-E-I-J-I, Hanma, H-O-N-M-A. A very cool card that I had for a very long time. I got to enjoy it for a very long time. Very obscure. An amazing conversation piece because on the card is a Japanese goaltender at the Olympics wearing a face mask that predates Jacques Plant. it's a very striking image. I've always thought it would be a wonderful poster. I think people have made t-shirts of it. mine is the highest graded SGC example. You might want to fact check me on this, but I think there's one PSA card that's like a 0.5 higher because this is an SGC 6. very cool card. We'll pop it up, scab it about, boop, right there. And that is available right now with a couple days left on Slapshark. And then I've got a 1984-85 Tops Wayne Gretzky card that is an error, a printing error, printed in grayscale instead of in I found a a chunk of those cards. it's a known error. Had it authenticated by PSA. You don't see it every day. Tickets only at 80 bucks with a couple days left. Very interesting card. And I know that some of our listeners are into oddball, strange stuff. They dare to dabble like we do. So those are good examples of cards like people that have tried to come at me with comps and stuff like that with those types of cards. Doesn't make sense. It is what it is and it is what someone's willing to pay for it, right? Ultimately. So any final comments, Toronto Card Collector, any stuff coming up? We didn't really touch much on wrestling or UFC news. UFC 332 went down on the weekend, Peyton Talbot put on an incredible performance, and I believe her Christina Christina De Silva became the new I I can't can't tell you the weight diversion. Valentina Shepchenko dropped out and She went at it with Khan Wang and became the new champion. over in the world of WWE we're heading toward money in the bank. Do we have some predictions for money in the bank? Jonathan Crawford: Well, that's what I gonna ask actually. Yeah, we have the big the big pay per view on Saturday. I was looking at the card earlier for the men's championship or the the men's ladder match. I don't know. I'm kind of leaning Kevin Owens just because Sammy's champion and I could see them having another feud. it seems to be brewing for two months. And for the women, I would probably go it's tough, honestly. I don't know, Sol Ruka maybe? Give her give her a push. I don't know. What what are you thinking? Cartel: I thought you might pick Solvika, yeah. now, with I mean, don't forget, Sammy and Kevin Owens can still be feuding while someone else is running around with the briefcase, right? So there Jonathan Crawford: Mm. Cartel: is that. And there's been a lot of heavy talk about Penta. I don't know. I don't know if I'd buy that. he's, you know, definitely like placed himself as a huge draw and fan favorite, but I don't know that he's someone that would ultimately benefit right here, right now with the title. I think the obvious booking would be Braun Breaker. But that also throws me off. 'Cause to me that's the obvious booking. Punk I think is just there as a as a name. Javon Evans is a dark horse. I mean, don't forget, this is a company that's that's had some wild briefcase winners. Remember Otis won the briefcase? I don't know if you remember that. But yeah. Jonathan Crawford: wow. Good call back there. Geez. Cartel: So you never know. but Javon and Trick Williams got the US title, that's always kind of a giveaway to me that he doesn't need more stuff on him coming to the ring. Belts and briefcases Jonathan Crawford: Mm-hmm. Cartel: and that sort of thing. So I'm gonna kinda unofficially pick Ron Breaker. I'd love to see Petto win it, don't get me wrong. I'd love to see anyone that I'm a fan of win, you know, like these braves are not doing any of that. time soon in the in the current series with the dodgers and in the with the women I did have a pick help me out here Sol Ruka I think is very potentially likely Roxanne Perez is in there right they they Jonathan Crawford: She has yeah. Cartel: they've been loving her she's been winning stuff which is to say she won a shot at the triple A women's title so she's been winning quite a bit lately Another kinda in line with Braun Breaker, there's Lola Vice, but it seems almost too odd they they're really pushing her. and I don't I just don't know. Maybe she's kinda in line, so to speak, and Sol Ruka's ahead of her. So I will go Sol Ruka. I'll go Breaker and Sol Ruka, and you seem to be going Kevin Owens and Sol Ruka. So we at least are agreeing on the women. Jonathan Crawford: I'll support my Canadian boy. What the hell? Cartel: Yeah, sure. Yeah. And other than that, I mean, are you excited or interested at all about Jonathan Crawford: I mean, I'm excited to see another Roman Reigns championship match. I'll say that much. Cartel: I suppose, yeah, that's right. Jonathan Crawford: Yeah. Cartel: other than that doesn't doesn't seem too exciting. I would imagine Roman will retain. But again, that's so obvious that maybe they'll go Jonathan Crawford: hundred percent. Cartel: maybe they'll go the other way, 'cause they love doing that when you think something's obvious. Jonathan Crawford: No, there's no way, man. I mean Oba Oba and Bronson. I'm sure there's gonna be shenanigans with the vision interfering and whatever, so Cartel: yeah, and in terms of UFC and WWE News, we'll keep working on being a source for that. There's just a lot of stuff that kinda happens quickly. there have been some fights made that are very interesting, amongst them Poeton versus Sergey Pavlovich. Everybody seems to be already preparing for the funeral of of Alex Pereira, but I actually think this is a way better fight for him than the the the first heavyweight fight that he had. and there were a bunch of other Announced as well. I'm hearing about Shafkat Rachmanov and Michael Morales today. which is wild because I thought it was gonna be Ian Gary and Michael Morales, but everybody's excited to see the return of Shavkat Rachmanov. I think if Shavkat is the Shafkat that we know and love, he'll take care of Michael Morales and get revenge for Sean Brady. But anyways, that's my UFC nerding out. we'll try to be more on point with some news next week on Tonight's card. And you know where I'm going with this. Stop me if you want the train to stop. But tonight's card Jonathan Crawford: Yeah. Cartel: is TCC, SCC, and tonight's card are over.
