- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the Mark Simone Show on seven ten WR.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Filling in for Mark, here's Ken rosetto.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, Hello, Hello, Hello, Mark is off in a nice
- 0:10Speaker 1: long weekend. Former New York City TV news anchor Ken
- 0:13Speaker 1: rosetto reporting for duty as I stand in salute. Good
- 0:17Speaker 1: to have you all with me, and good to be here.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Thank you to warrant to our dear friend Mark Simone
- 0:23Speaker 1: for let me sit here. You probably best remember me
- 0:25Speaker 1: from twenty years they spent over at Channel seven. I
- 0:28Speaker 1: anchored the morning show and for a good chunk of
- 0:29Speaker 1: those years the noon show. I was at Channel five
- 0:31Speaker 1: before that, And these days I'm over a channel in
- 0:34Speaker 1: New Jersey, a TV channel called on New Jersey, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: you can stream it live or watch the reruns at
- 0:39Speaker 1: o NNJ dot COMNNJ dot com. Hope you check that
- 0:43Speaker 1: out some time. But good to be here at wor today. Juneteenth,
- 0:47Speaker 1: of course, commemorating June nineteenth, eighteen sixty five. A lot
- 0:51Speaker 1: of people say, oh, Juneteenth, juneteenth. They don't know the
- 0:53Speaker 1: history of it, And when you think about it, this
- 0:56Speaker 1: is a totally messed up story in that you had
- 1:00Speaker 1: the Emancipation Proclamation in eighteen sixty three, freeing slaves right
- 1:04Speaker 1: around the country, and yet they kept it a little
- 1:07Speaker 1: bit of a secret. We didn't have the internet, we
- 1:09Speaker 1: didn't have social media, we didn't have TV and radio,
- 1:12Speaker 1: so they kept it a little secret from many, many
- 1:15Speaker 1: thousands of people in Texas who continue to believe they
- 1:20Speaker 1: were enslaved for another two plus years. Can you imagine
- 1:24Speaker 1: having two plus years of their lives taken away from
- 1:27Speaker 1: them when they were now free, and they didn't know
- 1:31Speaker 1: until it was brought to town, until the general came
- 1:34Speaker 1: in and said, hello, you people should have been told
- 1:37Speaker 1: you were free over two years ago. So the slaves
- 1:40Speaker 1: in Texas thought they were still enslaved until this date,
- 1:43Speaker 1: June nineteenth, eighteen sixty five, when thankfully every state in
- 1:48Speaker 1: the United States finally made it publicly known that slavery
- 1:52Speaker 1: was abolished, illegal and never again to be part of
- 1:55Speaker 1: the stain of America. But that's why it celebrated, you know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: was was I understand June teenth was a contraction of
- 2:03Speaker 1: June and nineteenth. Then I raised my hand in school
- 2:06Speaker 1: once and I said, Okay, why couldn't that have been
- 2:09Speaker 1: a contraction of June thirteenth or fourteenth, or fifteenth or sixteenth?
- 2:13Speaker 1: Why is Juneteenth automatically to be assumed it's June nineteenth.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe I'm just a weirdo. I guess
- 2:18Speaker 1: i am. But nonetheless, it is a good thing that
- 2:22Speaker 1: we have the freedom for all people who were enslaved
- 2:25Speaker 1: in this country, African Americans who were enslaved in Texas
- 2:29Speaker 1: until this date eighteen sixty five. Thankfully, from that point on,
- 2:33Speaker 1: slavery was illegal. It doesn't mean that all the problems
- 2:35Speaker 1: were solved, but slavery at least was illegal. A lot
- 2:39Speaker 1: to talk about today. On top of that, prone lines
- 2:41Speaker 1: are open. We'd love to hear from you at eight
- 2:43Speaker 1: hundred three to two one zero seven ten eight hundred
- 2:46Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten. I have been wanting
- 2:50Speaker 1: for a few days to congratulate our dear friend Mark Simone.
- 2:53Speaker 1: He was awarded the twenty twenty six Gold Standard in
- 2:57Speaker 1: Broadcasting Award by the Die of Talk Radio Circles. Barrett Media,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I mean Barrett Media is when it comes to talk radio,
- 3:06Speaker 1: that is all we talk about. It's Barrett Media. So
- 3:09Speaker 1: for them to award anything to somebody, you have to
- 3:13Speaker 1: be very special, and we all know your listeners. As
- 3:15Speaker 1: I am, I'm a fan of wowar and I love
- 3:18Speaker 1: my Mark Simone show every day, and he just deserves it.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I just don't know another talk radio host on the
- 3:25Speaker 1: planet who deserves having that award more than Mark Simone.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So congratulations, buddy, that's awesome. Okay, Today we got to
- 3:33Speaker 1: talk about the US Iran deal. The more we hear
- 3:36Speaker 1: about it, the more questions we ask. As Mark would say,
- 3:39Speaker 1: he would say that I agree with the on that
- 3:42Speaker 1: because every minute it seems to be changing. We've been
- 3:46Speaker 1: told one hundred and seventy two thousand times by the
- 3:48Speaker 1: administration it's a done deal. It's done, it's all done.
- 3:52Speaker 1: We got there. We just have to do the technical
- 3:54Speaker 1: All of a sudden, in my mind, I became gosh,
- 3:58Speaker 1: now I'm forgetting his name. What was the Great a comedian?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I had his name out of the tip
- 4:04Speaker 1: of my tongue two seconds ago. He used to talk
- 4:06Speaker 1: like this. He was a comedian and he was also
- 4:08Speaker 1: a cant somebody call in and tell me, remind me.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But I can imagine him doing one minute we have it,
- 4:13Speaker 1: one minute, we don't have it. One minute. There's a deal,
- 4:15Speaker 1: there's not a deal. It's a great deal. It's a
- 4:17Speaker 1: terrible deal. But that is what's going on here. We
- 4:22Speaker 1: have as of just an hour and a half ago,
- 4:24Speaker 1: two hours ago, now Iran saying the straight of our
- 4:26Speaker 1: moves is closed again. Really, well, what about the threat
- 4:29Speaker 1: that we're going to bomb you into non existence if
- 4:33Speaker 1: you don't follow the rules. So now we got to
- 4:36Speaker 1: see what the US is going to do. Apparently Vice
- 4:38Speaker 1: President Vance, who was going to fly to Geneva Sunday
- 4:42Speaker 1: and work out the minutia, the technical details of the
- 4:46Speaker 1: truth of cease fire, if you will, with Iran, it
- 4:50Speaker 1: was announced first that he was not going, and everybody
- 4:52Speaker 1: got suspicious, like what's going on? Why is he not going?
- 4:55Speaker 1: And now Iran announced that they are reclosing the straight
- 5:00Speaker 1: of horror moves because they say that Israel is refusing
- 5:04Speaker 1: to leave Lebanon and because of the presence of US
- 5:07Speaker 1: forces in the region. Well, listen, Iran, the US forces
- 5:12Speaker 1: are going to be in the region until we see
- 5:13Speaker 1: that you stay on your game and as opposed or
- 5:18Speaker 1: other when it comes to Israel and Lebanon. Well that's
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's something that, of course can be discussed, but you
- 5:24Speaker 1: cannot single handedly and one sidedly we close the straight
- 5:27Speaker 1: of Horn moves. I would say that at that point
- 5:30Speaker 1: the president needs to respond in some way seriously. And
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't know about you, but I have a lot
- 5:36Speaker 1: of friends who are saying, you know, Pooper, get off
- 5:39Speaker 1: the pot when it comes to Iran. If they continue
- 5:42Speaker 1: stringing us along, just get it over with. Just find
- 5:46Speaker 1: where the Mullas are again and put a bunker buster
- 5:50Speaker 1: right on top of them and say, Okay, enough of you,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I'm done, enough of this nonsense. Stops stringing us along.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I know the President does not want to hurt any
- 5:58Speaker 1: other people, and I'm with you, President, I'm with you.
- 6:01Speaker 1: He doesn't want to kill people. He doesn't want innocent
- 6:03Speaker 1: Iranians dying. They have nothing to do with this. This
- 6:07Speaker 1: is all about the Mullahs, the sick lunatics who are
- 6:11Speaker 1: in charge of that country. Iran is a great country,
- 6:14Speaker 1: full of very good people, and they don't have guns.
- 6:17Speaker 1: This is what happens when you don't have a second Amendment.
- 6:19Speaker 1: They don't have guns. They can't defend themselves. If they
- 6:22Speaker 1: go to speak publicly in the street, they risk getting arrested,
- 6:25Speaker 1: a court martial shot their equivalent of a court martial,
- 6:28Speaker 1: which is like same day you're arrested, shot. That's it done.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know, do you want to risk that? So they're
- 6:35Speaker 1: terrified to come out in protest. It's not like, you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: when we protested years ago, you came out in the street.
- 6:40Speaker 1: If anything, you had a fistfight, maybe somebody. It took
- 6:43Speaker 1: you like thirty seconds to load a musket. But now
- 6:46Speaker 1: it's you know, you go out and I run and
- 6:48Speaker 1: you speak out and you're dead. That's it. So this
- 6:52Speaker 1: is a problem. I think at this point the president
- 6:55Speaker 1: needs to to have some kind of action that makes
- 6:57Speaker 1: it very clear that we are not going to take
- 7:00Speaker 1: this anymore. So we'll see what happens with that. The
- 7:03Speaker 1: Obama Presidential Center officially opened that includes the Barack Obama
- 7:08Speaker 1: Presidential Library. Now, I don't know if you saw yesterday,
- 7:12Speaker 1: you saw the celebration. The music, by the way, was
- 7:15Speaker 1: off the chain, off the chart, sickly great. It was
- 7:18Speaker 1: just amazing music. It was a great celebration. And I
- 7:21Speaker 1: don't care where you stand on President Obama President Trump.
- 7:26Speaker 1: My attitude about it is this, I don't agree with
- 7:28Speaker 1: probably ninety percent of what President Obama stands for politically,
- 7:33Speaker 1: all right, but I respect him because he was the
- 7:35Speaker 1: president of the United States, my country. I respect that.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Maybe I'm part of a dying breed that still respects
- 7:43Speaker 1: the president. You could criticize him. I think you should
- 7:47Speaker 1: criticize him. And it's okay to criticize President Trump if
- 7:50Speaker 1: you are on the left, do so all you want.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But you could do so without threatening someone's life. You
- 7:56Speaker 1: could do so without saying I hate America. You could
- 7:59Speaker 1: do so without getting into fisticuffs with people and throwing
- 8:02Speaker 1: paint on their car and breaking windows. You can protest
- 8:06Speaker 1: without being an ass, okay. And I enjoyed watching the
- 8:12Speaker 1: celebration of the opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Library,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and your darn bet, when I'm in Chicago, I will
- 8:18Speaker 1: go there. Because he was the president of the United States.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I would love to go there, and I hope people
- 8:24Speaker 1: on the left would also love to go to the
- 8:26Speaker 1: Reagan Library because he was the president of the United States.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You could go there with your kids and say, here's
- 8:31Speaker 1: why we disagree. That's okay, but that's part of Americana,
- 8:35Speaker 1: it's part of our history. You can go and disagree,
- 8:39Speaker 1: but just be respectful. That's it. That's all I think
- 8:43Speaker 1: we all should ask for as Americans and all the
- 8:46Speaker 1: musicians who went and performed, God bless you. That was great.
- 8:49Speaker 1: You did great. But then don't boycott Republican events. It's
- 8:53Speaker 1: okay if you want to politely say ah, I really can't,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but then to publicly come out and say I won't
- 8:58Speaker 1: go there and mother, but that's you take it to
- 9:00Speaker 1: the next level. The guy is the president. He was
- 9:03Speaker 1: elected by a majority of US citizens. Okay, a majority,
- 9:08Speaker 1: not a plurality, a majority. Have that tiny bit of respect.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You don't have to agree with anything he stands for.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Have the respect for the office, and show up if
- 9:18Speaker 1: he invites you. That's like, I'm just glad the Knicks
- 9:21Speaker 1: are going to the White House and celebrating. And speaking
- 9:24Speaker 1: of which, there's the perfect segue. Two million people packing
- 9:28Speaker 1: Lower Manhattan for the huge Knicks championship celebration. How awesome
- 9:32Speaker 1: was that? Considering all the people who were jammed in,
- 9:37Speaker 1: there were only a dozen arrests, which is pretty amazing.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And that speaks to how effective the commissioner is. Commissioner
- 9:44Speaker 1: Tish and the NYPD is just the best in the world.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They just are. There's no police force on the planet
- 9:51Speaker 1: that can do with the NYPD can do. But one
- 9:54Speaker 1: thing to keep an eye on Mayor zoron Mamdani and
- 9:59Speaker 1: his populace way of presenting himself, his popularity among the
- 10:04Speaker 1: young and the great masses of New Yorkers. Did you
- 10:08Speaker 1: hear him speak yesterday? Did it not feel a bit
- 10:10Speaker 1: like a campaign speech? I don't know if you if
- 10:13Speaker 1: you heard him speaking, but I will hear he was.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Here's a moment, this is.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Our city, this is our team. For fifty three years,
- 10:21Speaker 2: we watched for fifty three years, we waited. Now we've
- 10:26Speaker 2: won one last time, New York saying with.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Me Nixon, I mean he has his finger on the pulse,
- 10:37Speaker 1: the populist pulse of New York, and he is able
- 10:41Speaker 1: to act like a I don't know, like a shiny
- 10:44Speaker 1: object off to the right, getting your attention over to
- 10:46Speaker 1: his right hand, while with his left hand he's doing
- 10:48Speaker 1: nefarious things to the city in terms of the way
- 10:51Speaker 1: we're being run, the tax hikes or the desire for
- 10:55Speaker 1: tax hikes, the horrible climate for companies, major corporations in
- 11:00Speaker 1: the city, treating people who have achieved by their hard
- 11:05Speaker 1: work and their great ideas, they've achieved wealth in this city,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and treating them like garbage and like criminals and at
- 11:11Speaker 1: the same time not punishing criminals for doing their deeds.
- 11:15Speaker 1: This is the man who was elected mayor of the city.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And then he gets up there and he puts on
- 11:19Speaker 1: the charming smile. And by the way, he is a
- 11:22Speaker 1: master of accents. This is a phony accent people. I'm
- 11:27Speaker 1: a fanatic about accents. I can do them, but when
- 11:29Speaker 1: I do them, certain people, certain groups take offense and
- 11:32Speaker 1: think I'm mocking. I'm not mocking. I can speak seven
- 11:35Speaker 1: languages fluently and I can do accents insanely well. And
- 11:39Speaker 1: when I do a Mamdani accent, people think I'm mocking
- 11:42Speaker 1: people who are Indian world and I'm not. I'm not.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'm just able to emulate the sound. Years ago, you
- 11:46Speaker 1: had impressionists and everybody thought it was great. Today it's like, oh,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you are mocking this group of people. No, I'm not
- 11:52Speaker 1: stop it. But the bottom line is he is that
- 11:56Speaker 1: accent you hear is him emulating a New Yorker. You
- 12:00Speaker 1: will catch video of him, go on YouTube. You'll hear
- 12:02Speaker 1: him speaking in his own cultural accent, okay, with an
- 12:06Speaker 1: Indian sound that makes it almost unintelligible. As you know,
- 12:10Speaker 1: coming from a New York perspective with sound, and then
- 12:14Speaker 1: when he speaks with a group of Spanish speakers, he
- 12:17Speaker 1: goes into a Spanish accent. He is the ultimate chameleon.
- 12:21Speaker 1: He could mesh in with any group and make them
- 12:24Speaker 1: think that he is part of them. Meanwhile, he is
- 12:27Speaker 1: a millionaire kid who had a silver spoon in his mouth,
- 12:31Speaker 1: raised by super wealthy elitist parents, and yet he tries
- 12:37Speaker 1: to make it look like he is just a kid
- 12:39Speaker 1: from the streets of New York, rolling up his sleeves
- 12:42Speaker 1: and playing basketball pick up ball with people. No, no, no, no,
- 12:45Speaker 1: no no. This kid came here when he was a kid.
- 12:47Speaker 1: He was already was born in Northern Africa to Indian parents,
- 12:52Speaker 1: and he is he is not an American by birth.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He became an American later naturalized. But this man is
- 13:00Speaker 1: the ultimate comeleon. Keep an eye on him. My friend Earl,
- 13:05Speaker 1: who was my we text day and night. He is
- 13:08Speaker 1: my conservative soulmate, if you will. He's a former cop.
- 13:15Speaker 1: He's up in Putnam County and he and he texted
- 13:18Speaker 1: to me yesterday mark my words in our lifetimes that
- 13:23Speaker 1: man will become president of the United States. And at
- 13:26Speaker 1: first I tell him, Nah, you're crazy. And it sent
- 13:29Speaker 1: chills up my spine. But his words may have some truth.
- 13:33Speaker 1: When you look at the number of Democratic socialists who
- 13:37Speaker 1: are duping the youth in this country, making them think
- 13:40Speaker 1: that they are just another flavor of the Democrat party.
- 13:43Speaker 1: It's terrifying and Democrats need to do something about this
- 13:46Speaker 1: because they won't listen to conservatives. Democrats need to do
- 13:50Speaker 1: something to wake people up. There was there was a
- 13:53Speaker 1: Dana Perino on Fox News the other day talking about
- 13:57Speaker 1: the fact that when young kids surveyed recently in a
- 14:01Speaker 1: survey they they were asked if they like democratic socialism,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and at least it was a plurality, if not a
- 14:07Speaker 1: majority of kids under twenty five. Younger people under twenty
- 14:11Speaker 1: five said yes, they support democratic socialism and all it
- 14:14Speaker 1: stands for. And then in the next breath, the question
- 14:17Speaker 1: was do you believe in people's rights to own their
- 14:20Speaker 1: own homes? And more than the original numbers said absolutely.
- 14:26Speaker 1: So these idiots do not even understand what socialism is.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Under socialism, you don't own your own home, you don't
- 14:32Speaker 1: own any property. All property is it's part of the state.
- 14:38Speaker 1: You are apportioned something to each according to his ability.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's at or his own. It is part of socialism,
- 14:46Speaker 1: is part of the collective. You don't own anything individually.
- 14:50Speaker 1: You don't have a house, and at any time the
- 14:52Speaker 1: government can say you you're living in that apartment, you're gone.
- 14:54Speaker 1: My friend Eleana used to be she was born and
- 14:56Speaker 1: raised in Cuba, and she was an anchor with me
- 14:59Speaker 1: when I work at the CBS television station in Miami
- 15:03Speaker 1: years ago, and she told me these horror stories when
- 15:07Speaker 1: she was a teenager, how in the middle of the night,
- 15:09Speaker 1: her dad was a doctor, she had a brother, and
- 15:12Speaker 1: she and her mom, middle of the night, knock at
- 15:15Speaker 1: the door. It was like two o'clock in the morning.
- 15:17Speaker 1: They opened the door, there's a bunch of military members
- 15:20Speaker 1: guns and they said, you're coming with us to her father.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Why because they were living in Havana and they needed
- 15:25Speaker 1: doctors in Santiago de Cuba, which is on the other
- 15:28Speaker 1: side of Cuba. Now this is just after Castro took over.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So they kidnapped her father, took him to the other
- 15:34Speaker 1: side of the island at gunpoint, and then took Iliana,
- 15:37Speaker 1: her brother, and her mother out of their home that
- 15:40Speaker 1: they had worked hard for to buy, confiscated it turned
- 15:44Speaker 1: it into military barracks for the communists for the Castro regime,
- 15:49Speaker 1: and then put Iliana, her brother, her mother into an
- 15:52Speaker 1: apartment that had three bedrooms to be shared with two
- 15:54Speaker 1: other families, so each family was given a bedroom to
- 15:57Speaker 1: live in. So it was sort of a way to
- 15:59Speaker 1: pun the heart achievements of the doctor father that she had,
- 16:04Speaker 1: who earned a home. No, no, no, we're going to
- 16:06Speaker 1: take that away from you, and we're going to put
- 16:08Speaker 1: you in an apartment with two other stranger families and
- 16:12Speaker 1: you're going to live together, because this is now the
- 16:15Speaker 1: new Cuba. That's what communism is, and that's what the
- 16:19Speaker 1: socialist the democrat concept is, just flowered up a little
- 16:23Speaker 1: bit to make you think it's a good thing, that
- 16:25Speaker 1: it is justice. It isn't justice, it's criminality, and it
- 16:28Speaker 1: can't continue in this country. It's very dangerous. How are
- 16:32Speaker 1: we're going to take your calls? At eight hundred three
- 16:34Speaker 1: to two one zero seven ten, eight hundred three to
- 16:36Speaker 1: two to one zero seven ten seven ten wor The
- 16:39Speaker 1: Voice of New York hen Risotto went from mark sun
- 16:41Speaker 1: and clouds today, breezy, low humidities, high's in the low eighties,
- 16:45Speaker 1: pretty much the same for tomorrow and Sunday, really nice
- 16:49Speaker 1: weekend in store. A little bit later, we're gonna speak
- 16:51Speaker 1: with John Boyd, Junior of the Boyd Company. We're going
- 16:54Speaker 1: to talk about how years of Democrats running New Jersey
- 16:57Speaker 1: with an anti business climate is forcing all the major
- 16:59Speaker 1: corporate rations to flee to friendlier states. It is ten
- 17:03Speaker 1: twenty two seven ten WR coming right back.
