- 0:00Feeling the seas under the skies, the feeling the breeze.
- 0:05Freedom in our eyes. And adventure calls that we ride
- 0:10the waves in the sumptions embrace.
- 0:13We're truly dreaming. Sailing the seas under the sky,
- 0:17endless sky in the breeze, Dreaming our eyes.
- 0:33Welcome back to a hamster with a blunt pen knife, the Doctor Who
- 0:38Commentary podcast. Now we have had viewer feedback
- 0:43between episode 2 and episode 3 by Elizabeth Santha herself to
- 0:50suggest that perhaps we are not taking as intellectual an
- 0:55approach to discussion this Doctor Who classic enlightenment
- 1:00and and giving it appropriate seriousness.
- 1:04So I'd like to start by, you know, Cameron, I said to you at
- 1:07the beginning of the call before Lee arrived due to our
- 1:09misunderstanding. I think you'll find Peter
- 1:12Davison in this, you know, finds a lot of the material
- 1:16fundamentally animistic. He reconciles that with the
- 1:20imperial critical belief that suspends that the root for
- 1:22phenomena. What do you think about that?
- 1:27I would compare it to the Maison Sen of the scenes in
- 1:35Enlightenment. Very much reminiscent of French
- 1:41cinema in the 1920s. Yeah, It, that's what reminds me
- 1:48of it. Reminds me of the, you know, the
- 1:50Parisian cinemas, the 1920s. Leigh, you know, obviously
- 1:55you're an expert in this field, so how do you feel about the
- 1:58general existentialism that is on display in Enlightenment?
- 2:05Well, consider it in the bigger picture.
- 2:07Have you taken all the elements that are at play in this story?
- 2:12You've got a lot of meta textual things going on.
- 2:14But I think the, I think the real important searching
- 2:17question we have to ask about enlightenment, especially this
- 2:21particular episode we're about to discuss, is can we just get
- 2:24onto Linda Barton's chest? Please we're following.
- 2:28Nobody with a stalk. Bring on the tits.
- 2:31Let's just get to the spot now, yes?
- 2:33OK, Right. Thank you very.
- 2:35Much love. The fact is Joe, who says bring
- 2:37on the tits first. Do you know what I think, Doctor
- 2:40Who might have turned me? You know, I've started looking
- 2:42at Jenna Coleman in a very strange ways.
- 2:45Pearl Mackie. You know, who was the other one
- 2:48the other day that was getting me all hot and bothered?
- 2:49Wasn't Karen Gillan? No.
- 2:51Who was it? What's wrong with Karen Gillan?
- 2:54Oh, it was Billie Piper, and that won the bra.
- 2:56My other half was watching on New Earth, I thought.
- 3:00Like I would just simply review what you were talking about.
- 3:02Yeah, Jesus, no more direction required for Lee.
- 3:06Yeah. So like it's pseudo
- 3:09intellectual, this question, It's it is about female
- 3:12cleavage, but I think there is a paper to be made about it, you
- 3:16know, sort of what do you think Linda Baron's fabulous rack as
- 3:19rack ranks. Rack by name.
- 3:22Rack as rack ranks, Yeah, it's sort of the, it's sort of like
- 3:27the the greatest racks of Doctor Who.
- 3:30Where does rack rank? This is a feature title in
- 3:38itself, isn't it? Ongoing.
- 3:40Ongoing to my honourable colleague on this one just now.
- 3:44And Paul, I think about it. Bloody hell, I was about to say
- 3:47the same thing. I I can't claim to be an expert
- 3:55on such matters, but he's. He's going to see Michelle Ryan.
- 4:03He's going to show Michelle Ryan.
- 4:04That's what he's going to say. I'm all that predictable.
- 4:10Really. I'm all that predictable.
- 4:12It's coupled up with the cat said though.
- 4:14And I know you. Do you like a sort of saucy
- 4:17arist crap then? It's it brings sunshine to the
- 4:22valleys. Is that what you say up north?
- 4:27So I was still sort of comparing Linda Baron to obviously the
- 4:31ultimate tits in cinema Ingrid Pier from the Time Monster.
- 4:36Because I mean, I mean, did you not hear that wonderful anecdote
- 4:39from Barry Letts? He got that letter saying how
- 4:40dare you put those enormous great bosoms all over the screen
- 4:45for my son to watch. And Barry?
- 4:48Did the boy good? He wrote back to her and went
- 4:51well. What did you want us to do with
- 4:53them? She's got them.
- 4:58They come in standard. Yeah, yeah, well, look, OK, all
- 5:02right. Enough intellectualism, enough
- 5:04tits. Should we watch episode 3?
- 5:07Don't get this in the sure, do you?
- 5:10You definitely get it in the Polish box so.
- 5:13They do. All the time if.
- 5:15You want more of this sort of thing?
- 5:17Go check out that Channel. OK.
- 5:20Particularly, go and find Paul Quinn's obscene reading on the
- 5:24claws of Axos. Once experienced, never
- 5:28forgotten. In three seconds, gentlemen.
- 5:32Absolutely. Let's do it.
- 5:34Oh wait, I'm not at the end of the other episode yet.
- 5:35Hang on three. Next episodes, everyone.
- 5:39Click Yay. Are.
- 5:42You seeing stars? Are you seeing?
- 5:45A field of stars. Doctor Who theme.
- 5:47Oh. This song isn't it?
- 5:49You Remember Me when the West wind moves among the.
- 5:54Field. Of Oh no, it's Bali.
- 5:57Bali. Yeah.
- 5:59I always said we won at a field, but oh.
- 6:02You said you was going to do some research on imagination.
- 6:05Oh, I. Forgot, but I admitted that I
- 6:07was getting a little drink about.
- 6:08I'll wing it. Oh, OK.
- 6:10All right. Here we go.
- 6:13Do you think they called her rack because of her rack or is
- 6:17that just a coincidence? And then they have been.
- 6:20Would that have been a colloquial state like word to
- 6:23use for that in 1983? Probably not.
- 6:25What? Would they have said back then?
- 6:29I mean, I was four years old at the time, so.
- 6:32Yeah, probably. My dad used to say terrible
- 6:35things like bazoombas and things like that.
- 6:37You know, he's sort of kiddified.
- 6:40Yeah, well. Oh, look, we're back on the deck
- 6:47now, OK. This is completely breathable.
- 6:52Yeah, I don't know if. I don't technically need the
- 6:54helmet. Would you take your?
- 6:55Helmet off though I'm not sure I would.
- 7:00You probably would just to take it all in like 360°.
- 7:02Wouldn't you like them on? Did they do that special effects
- 7:05shot of the two two sailing ships there off the deck?
- 7:09Is that matted in? Is it a glass shot do you think?
- 7:14Sure. Did you see it with the two
- 7:16ships in the distance? Yeah, yeah, that that's
- 7:19incredible. But for the time, oh I hate Star
- 7:22Wars, but for Doctor Who is. Pretty.
- 7:25Damn. Incredible.
- 7:26Well, Michael Gradel, no, it's not Star Wars.
- 7:31No, yes, he was very disappointed wasn't he, when he
- 7:33switched on in a few weeks time. It cancelled us as well, the
- 7:36monster. Yeah, I think it was the merka
- 7:39that did it only, wasn't it? It was.
- 7:41See again people just besmutching my boys name.
- 7:45I'm half expecting for that fucking door.
- 7:47To open up behind. You and the.
- 7:49Murka to come nestling next to. You on the sofa at.
- 7:52This right didn't. You sorry that wasn't me just
- 7:56merging your wife then, by the way.
- 7:57All right. That's on your.
- 8:00Comments. You'd be lucky.
- 8:05To get a Murka. You all right?
- 8:09I can but dream, Joe. I can but dream I.
- 8:10Can't but time look at that, yeah.
- 8:12I mean, could you imagine Fiona coming, getting his script?
- 8:14OK, so Turlo's flying through space.
- 8:17We're going to throw. Out the life ring for him to
- 8:20grab hold of. She's like, hang on, have we got
- 8:23an? Increase in budget.
- 8:24This week. The slow more stuff works quite
- 8:26well though. I quite I quite like those
- 8:28shorts. The only time I think it's
- 8:30really pony is when the net comes in.
- 8:33I'm not I. Was going to stay apart from the
- 8:35CGI but the CSO but rather. But this is nice.
- 8:39I mean, it was on the table just sort of reaching out towards the
- 8:41camera going it. Must be, yeah.
- 8:44It's one of those times when you really wish you were an actor.
- 8:46I'd love to do a bit of that. Here we go, here it comes.
- 8:51I love the fact that we're about to enter the the sort of moment
- 8:55in enlightenment when up until now it's been like this deadly
- 8:59contest between these ships all like in direct competition with
- 9:04each other. And then you realise that they
- 9:06can kind of just snip across the other boat for a bite of dinner.
- 9:10And it's just like, again, it's just like this whole weird
- 9:13economy that goes on with this whole thing.
- 9:15It's like, yeah, it's a deadly race, but come off some stick
- 9:19pie. Stick pie.
- 9:21I don't know what sort of bites for dinner you're having in
- 9:24Scotland, but that's a fabulous banquet she puts on for them on
- 9:27Rack Ship. It won't be a stick pie though.
- 9:30They stop it. Fabulously erect new pieces of
- 9:34celery for the doctor to pin to his repel on that table.
- 9:37Yeah, nice. He he, he gets a bit of that
- 9:39from the buffet, don't he? Well.
- 9:40It was sagging a bit, to be fair, not.
- 9:43Getting a bit limp. But what a bit of celery?
- 9:48He's married to Sandra Dickinson at this point, wasn't he?
- 9:50Oh, definitely. His his celery was not his own.
- 9:53There's another interest. He's got that in a jar.
- 9:56Oh no. His his Leech on.
- 9:58There he is. Let's.
- 10:00Talk about Leech on. Beloved character actor Lee
- 10:04John. I wonder if I could play that
- 10:06role actually. A staggering duel for a rival.
- 10:12What do you think? Keep your keep your eyes on Lee
- 10:14John though, because there's I've noticed this happens a bit
- 10:17three times. It might be more, but he'll
- 10:19deliver a line and he'll look off camera.
- 10:21Just glance, just as this basically.
- 10:23Was that OK? I will keep an eye on her if you
- 10:27see the look on Tolo's face when he was.
- 10:29Looking up at racks tits, he was practically drooling.
- 10:34He knows he's joined the right side now.
- 10:35Yeah, he got. The Doctor kill him.
- 10:41Yeah, he thought he was onto a good thing with Tiga.
- 10:43Then he met Linda Baron. She is fab though isn't she?
- 10:47Like I know I like a camp broad and she is a.
- 10:51Camp broad in this and every line is very theatrical.
- 10:55But it's just the right side of pantomime, isn't it?
- 10:58It's just that sort of pantomime villain, but just dialed down
- 11:00enough. Do you mind when Linda Baron
- 11:02used to do that kids show called Come Outside I?
- 11:05Wonder if it seems like a fight in a pub car park, doesn't it?
- 11:08Yeah. Is that?
- 11:11What it was about a fight in a car park.
- 11:15You would be a witty, weren't you?
- 11:17OK. I don't know about witty.
- 11:19You can't warn me when you're going to do that, all right?
- 11:21No, she's genuinely She was generally the kid show called
- 11:23Come Outside. Was it on a barge with a dog?
- 11:26Yeah, she was, she said the dog. Yeah.
- 11:28And she just kind of went all this place like today we're
- 11:30going to go to the supermarket or something like that, and then
- 11:33she would go with the dog to the.
- 11:35Supermarket Do you remember her first glorious appearance on
- 11:38Doctor Who? So chill.
- 11:43Up your. Glasses.
- 11:44Join. In the.
- 11:46Fun. The Lord was this.
- 11:47I am not picking up on this at all.
- 11:48When was? This.
- 11:49Are you kidding me? You're not.
- 11:51Picking up on me and him singing the.
- 11:53Ballad of the Last. Child.
- 11:54Someone's not had the delight of the gunfighters in his life,
- 11:56clearly. I don't think I have now.
- 11:58I don't think it's. Curtains for Charlie?
- 12:03Come on lady, and have a bit. You have not lived until you've
- 12:05seen Jackie Lane pretend to play a piano.
- 12:10It's. Very great.
- 12:14Nice example of the sextant there.
- 12:17Yes. And did you see that fabulous
- 12:18telescope that was on the deck, that sort of gold telescope that
- 12:21they? Yeah, nice props, very nice.
- 12:23There's loads of cool stuff in this.
- 12:26Do you know what space suits look cool?
- 12:28I'm being serious when I say this.
- 12:30Now I know we've had a lot of larks on this, but let's let's
- 12:32be serious for a second. Have you fellas ever been to a
- 12:35GIMP party? No.
- 12:39Look at what they're wearing. I mean, I'm, I only stayed for a
- 12:42little bit, but it's very, I mean, Doctor Who designers,
- 12:47right? Are they on the joke?
- 12:50Oh yeah, probably. I mean, this is what BBC
- 12:52television said around about 1980s probably.
- 12:57But Shardless Jack's very much that, isn't it.
- 12:59Yeah, the mask and all, but yeah, I hadn't picked up on
- 13:04that. Yeah, they are.
- 13:04Well, you know, the masks in Creature from the Pit, what the
- 13:07guards are wearing, you know. Do you remember those?
- 13:09Oh, right, right. OK, I see.
- 13:12Yep. Strange people in those parties.
- 13:15Oh, you see how she's got him tied up and she's got sort of
- 13:17the knife at him? You know, she's going, you know,
- 13:19I'm gonna have you keel hoard if you don't do what I'll say.
- 13:22Yeah, I'm from Crawley, right? All the girls are pretty feral
- 13:25there. That's just considered sort of
- 13:26casual. Flirting and Crawley.
- 13:29That's a charpling, isn't it? Surely.
- 13:31That's actually. Being a bit gentle if I'm
- 13:34honest. But how wonderful to have the
- 13:39sexual dynamics on the show being the woman pirate.
- 13:43Tying up the male victim. It's great, yeah.
- 13:49And at. No point.
- 13:50Did she take a knife to their eyebrows?
- 13:52No. You would, I said, Linda, do you
- 13:55fancy doing this? She went, not really.
- 13:57And then she got the script and she was like, I'll be there,
- 14:00yes. That boy needs to try when I'm
- 14:02the woman to do it. Yeah, I.
- 14:05Wonder if her and Le Jean got on famously.
- 14:09I suspect so. Well, it goes straight for the
- 14:11chains. Look at.
- 14:12Lee. Yes.
- 14:14Did you ever fancy? Sort of.
- 14:15I mean, you've got so many ES&M's in your surname, did you
- 14:18ever fancy the extra E for your first name as well?
- 14:22See, if you don't put me as Lee in the description for this,
- 14:26I'll be very disappointed. I.
- 14:28Mean you've. Already said I've got enough
- 14:31letters in my name, why I had another one.
- 14:34Honestly, you can never have enough ease honestly.
- 14:38Seriously. Oh my words.
- 14:42And here we go this. Is when we're at this party,
- 14:45isn't it? Look at this.
- 14:46OK, can I? Oh, I know.
- 14:48I. Just said I was going to be
- 14:49serious. She looks so beautiful in that,
- 14:51doesn't she? She does, actually, yeah.
- 14:53No, to be fair. Like what?
- 14:57Is anybody? In that boob tube when you can
- 14:59make her look like this for the whole story, boy.
- 15:05But as she goes to that party and everyone's absolutely
- 15:07enchanted by her and I can see my.
- 15:10Honeycomb storm trouble, The crunchy OH.
- 15:14I love honeycomb, don't you? If you like it when it gets
- 15:17stuck in your teeth and then you find a bit, oh you have to.
- 15:19Pick it off your tongue. Oh.
- 15:20My God, why am I usually get stuck?
- 15:22A day later. Yeah, well, it's.
- 15:24Right at the tooth bar, then, but.
- 15:25The tree is still. God day later.
- 15:29You were. Complaining when your tongue was
- 15:31in there all right. Oh yeah, yeah, true.
- 15:34I was trying to pick bits out. I mean it goes.
- 15:36Watch Baron at the wheel, right She's.
- 15:38Quite subtle at the wheel doing this shit and that.
- 15:41Watch Leech on, he's moving the whole body.
- 15:45As he's looking thoroughly natural.
- 15:49And then look at the fella on the other ship.
- 15:52He's perfectly still doing what you actually.
- 15:54Do with a wheel. It's sort of the three styles of
- 15:58acting there, wouldn't you say? There's definitely, there's
- 16:01definitely acting choices. Speak, mate.
- 16:03Yes, there's a, there's a, there's a plan.
- 16:07So what? What does she do?
- 16:08She puts a jewel. She gives a gift to each ship
- 16:13and then she comes alongside with her ship, goes into this
- 16:17special room, whatever it is, and blows it up.
- 16:21Yeah, this targets the the jewel.
- 16:23So whatever it's. Not really fully explained how
- 16:25but that's it's like general just the person.
- 16:27That's yeah, it's kind of it needs something to lock to.
- 16:29It locks the jewel is. It the power of the Black
- 16:32Guardian or is it an eternal power?
- 16:36Oh no, I think it starts to get mentioned something to do with
- 16:38the Eternals because zip a guy on the ceiling that we find next
- 16:42episode doesn't that channels energy.
- 16:45It was that sequence, you know where the tiara is going to blow
- 16:49up. Strikers ship that in the 75
- 16:51minute version. Man, they edited it to hell and
- 16:54back, and it was so fast and so dynamic, and it was like, boom,
- 16:59close up on the tiara, boom, the doctor's running down the
- 17:02corridor, boom racks cackling like a maniac.
- 17:05And there's this sort of like, music playing over.
- 17:09And I was like, yeah, I don't want to watch the original 1
- 17:11now. This is what you're exciting.
- 17:14Doesn't really like, I mean, you know, you get your traditional
- 17:16episode free debt where the plot really cools down.
- 17:21This is sort of nicely paced all the way through.
- 17:23But do you object to down but like remove it?
- 17:28Is it? Is it a sacred thing to you to?
- 17:31No, to be monkeyed by fear. Not.
- 17:34So never, it's like all these people that complain about, you
- 17:36know, the animations and you know, all that thing wasn't in
- 17:40there. I've read the camera scripts,
- 17:42right? But nobody's ever going to see
- 17:43these things again realistically.
- 17:45So why not just play around with it?
- 17:47And the same thing is like, I don't have a like a 7590 minute
- 17:51edit. It's just another thing.
- 17:53It's not replaced in the original.
- 17:55It's still there if you want to see it, so why not just have
- 17:58these things? I think I.
- 18:00Think it's ruins my. Childhood what's the moment of
- 18:02self hate when you know you're going to hate it because you
- 18:05love the original so much and then you.
- 18:07Watch it and complain. About it anyway.
- 18:09Yes, Ian, we're talking about you.
- 18:13I just said the name here, so it's still quite ambiguous.
- 18:16As long as you don't see it three times in a minute, we'll
- 18:18be fine. No.
- 18:19Oh. No.
- 18:20Conjure them up. Music player, see.
- 18:23But this is what gets me. So I kind of go, yeah, you can,
- 18:26you're doing a race, but just pop across to the other ship for
- 18:29a wee bite of dinner. I've been to weddings with worse
- 18:32breads than that, you know. Do you see they've got chicken
- 18:34legs and salads? Tarrama salata?
- 18:39It's Robin. These things with no idea.
- 18:42I think that's your standard big finished lunch that they always
- 18:44go on about. Colin Baker's just off short
- 18:48relief. Now if you.
- 18:50Look at the costumes in here. Yeah, you'll see every single
- 18:53costume that's ever been in Blake 7 amongst all the extras.
- 18:56They've raided the cupboards, but I don't know.
- 19:00Again, look at the set, look at the dressing, look at the
- 19:03costumes. It is lavish for Doctor Who.
- 19:05That's what, 20 extras all dressed up?
- 19:09That cost money that cost. Money that's not a relatively
- 19:12small budget, there's like £10,000 they spent on this,
- 19:16which it's probably more than it sounds in 1983 on.
- 19:19This episode. Yeah.
- 19:21On the whole lot, yeah, all four episodes it was about 10 grands
- 19:24of a budget that. So like what?
- 19:26Yeah, really quick. 2 1/2 grand an episode.
- 19:30Wow. Yeah, well then J&T is a
- 19:32magician. But I believe that, yeah, yeah,
- 19:36I mean, they've got the advantage of that.
- 19:38They've clearly gone through the BBC props department and had all
- 19:40this stuff anyway, but they still make it for that money
- 19:43that. Fellow at the back of the room
- 19:45in the top hat. Like the awful Dodger.
- 19:47Like he stepped out of Dickens. So he's what ship's he on?
- 19:57That loves a bit of Bleak House, you know.
- 20:01I love this room with like the massive leave it out the front
- 20:05of it by the doors is on off. Cameron if my heating system at
- 20:12home could be that simple I would be very grateful.
- 20:14It's so I can't turn it on without.
- 20:16Roasting. Myself alive.
- 20:18It's so complicated. Yeah, I need those sort of
- 20:22simple, you know, Terry Nation sort of dials.
- 20:24That says off. And danger the other side that.
- 20:28You can just put it somewhere. In the middle.
- 20:31Sorry, come when you go. No, Carrie, I'm just going to
- 20:35make a joke of storage here. It.
- 20:39Sounded it sounded interesting when I when I said I thought
- 20:43about it, but. That's every joke I ever make.
- 20:45We've. Got all this material more than
- 20:48the Polish box folks. Yes, join us.
- 20:52Join us and he might make a joke.
- 20:53Yeah, yeah, yeah. But just as the speed at which
- 20:57she took that champagne away from Tegan or all the Davisons
- 21:00female companions, just really angry drunks.
- 21:04Yeah, Do you remember in Black Orchids where Nyssa goes, I'll
- 21:07have a screwdriver and as well. Yeah.
- 21:11What a prude. He is Davidson's doctor.
- 21:14I like to think, though, because he says we don't have your
- 21:17constitution, She says. Don't you like the wine?
- 21:19The it's something amazing, like it's an entire Galaxy scrunched
- 21:23down into a glass of champagne or something.
- 21:25That's. Awesome.
- 21:28I just like the thought of a big finish out there.
- 21:29Bertiga and Nyssa start a fight in whoever spins.
- 21:33Well, they. They become a couple.
- 21:35So, so, you know, I think the dream might have been involved.
- 21:37Somewhere, one day, she was comforting.
- 21:42Her over the loss of Auntie Vanessa.
- 21:45I had a couple of glasses of Planck and the next thing we.
- 21:48Knew it. Has anyone seen the scissors?
- 21:54Sorry, I'm so sorry. What is this vacuum shield all
- 21:58about? This is where I get a little bit
- 22:00confused. Why is there an airlock?
- 22:03In. The bottom of the ship, yeah.
- 22:06Think for like taking on cargo maybe?
- 22:10OK. But I mean, I figured it's just
- 22:14the way that she disposes of people.
- 22:16It's just a big old. Probably, yeah.
- 22:18You know, stick them in the you. Know you fellows could do a
- 22:22deploy in that I. Think it's nice?
- 22:24The police box. Throw them down the vacuum
- 22:27shield. I've just noted that a vacuum
- 22:31lever has like a medium option. It's an on off and a medium.
- 22:35Yes. At one point do you go I only
- 22:37want a half a shield? I'm sorry I must disagree with
- 22:41you my hate and control. Said on off a medium, I'll be
- 22:44very. Happy.
- 22:46Back to the story, cheaters again known me.
- 22:49You have failed me. Yeah, you will.
- 22:54Die. It was, said James Laugh, of any
- 22:57Doctor Who villain. Oh yes, it's great.
- 23:00Found it. Not only has he got a brilliant
- 23:02name, you know. Imagine going through life with
- 23:04a name like Valentine Dayal. No, Imagine going through that
- 23:08voice with that. Yeah.
- 23:11Just like what a what a guy I. Want to be fucking?
- 23:14Podcasting I would be in every audio book going.
- 23:19I'm sure, I'm sure my first girlfriend at school dressed
- 23:22like that at a Christmas dance when we started going at each
- 23:24other. Oh.
- 23:25Really. As in.
- 23:27As in as in Tegan, not as in do. You know, I'm super.
- 23:31Impressed by the racial representation?
- 23:33In that room of guess. There's.
- 23:35At least three Asian people in that room.
- 23:38Now if you could just give them a line, we'd be grateful.
- 23:41Yeah, you know, so it's what we do.
- 23:44It's what we do now to Joy, the modern Doctor Who.
- 23:46We are representative of different people and, you know,
- 23:51different genders and things like that, but we all have them
- 23:55on screen for five seconds and then they do nothing.
- 23:57We punch them in the face in episodes like Rosa, don't we?
- 24:00You know? Yeah, They get lots to do, Joe.
- 24:04Mark Stratford really does look like my other half when I
- 24:06squint, you know? I've seen him lost down a few
- 24:12hours if I want. Wow, oh wow.
- 24:18Also, you know, I was just thinking, Cameron, I was just
- 24:21thinking you'd look magnificent with a dead crow on your head.
- 24:25It's. A look what me.
- 24:28Yeah, I think you'd make a great black guardian.
- 24:30This is how we do things in the country, Joe, just.
- 24:34Find the dead crow on the roadside.
- 24:35Still find a. Dead crow on the roadside.
- 24:37I think you'd look gorgeous with a lovely crow.
- 24:40Not a crow, a pigeon. What?
- 24:42They're called a dove. A dove.
- 24:43This can be arranged, yeah. Can we?
- 24:47Try to play me and Leon for detail.
- 24:49Is the black guardian the white guardian?
- 24:52Wow. I like.
- 24:53I like how you got our sides picked.
- 24:55Yeah. Well, Ebony and ivory.
- 24:59He was trying to. Convince me before you turned
- 25:01up. That he was the moral compass of
- 25:03the Polish box. He's not such a thing.
- 25:06Are you having a laugh with me? We've long since corrupted him.
- 25:12The Polish box has not had a moral compass.
- 25:16Since episode 2. It has kind of snapped.
- 25:19Yeah, it's. It's a composite way, points one
- 25:21way, and that's the bad taste. Yeah.
- 25:23I think I've said it at least 50 times.
- 25:25You know this now. You know, it's great marketing.
- 25:28Perfectly fine, it's all right. Now if you could fucking return
- 25:31the favour and say. Hamster a blunt pen knife a few
- 25:33times on yours. We'll do that.
- 25:38We'll book it in. We'll book it in.
- 25:39Is Mark Strickson's going absolutely upshit during this
- 25:43whole scene? I.
- 25:44Do love that about him though. Brilliant look.
- 25:46At it doesn't hold back. There lies a pop, and the way
- 25:49that P Davison looks at him here like he's a kind of errant
- 25:52child, you know, he's just come back, you know, after you're
- 25:56disappearing, awaiting the football.
- 25:59Why, You know, it's why I think Strickson is actually probably
- 26:02better suited to Doctor Who than Davidson, because Davidson will
- 26:05do a cliffhanger where he has to bring it.
- 26:08Up and he'll just go, you know. Oh.
- 26:10Don't you understand? It'll mean the end of me as a
- 26:13Time Lord. In a very.
- 26:14Sort of cash way, whereas Strickson goes, you know I will
- 26:18never serve you again, which is the level.
- 26:23We need it's. Great with it.
- 26:27Rackles uses this place. But I suppose the contrast is
- 26:30quite nice if you have the two of them together.
- 26:33Yeah, just God let them have a. Relationship.
- 26:36Why do these people not have relationships in the 80s?
- 26:39It's so baffling. They're, they're slaves to the
- 26:42plot, aren't they? They are, yeah.
- 26:44Bye. And if it is character work,
- 26:47it's usually either. A family member that expires or.
- 26:53I don't know something from their past.
- 26:55So like Turlo's race, memory and frontiers or his back story in
- 27:00Planet of Fire? I wonder how much of this comes
- 27:03then it's able to because he scripted it right up until what,
- 27:06halfway through Colin Baker? And then immediately after that,
- 27:10when you get like Sylvester and Sophie together, no matter what
- 27:13you think of the actors, they've definitely got a chemistry in a
- 27:15relationship on screen. Excuse me?
- 27:17You get Colin and Ronnie first, you know?
- 27:21It's not like you to go into a Brown study, mail Brown study,
- 27:25she goes. It's a vocabulary of all time.
- 27:28So antediluvian. Bonnie Langford's Dirty Protest.
- 27:35There's an episode title. We've got so many today, so.
- 27:39Unfortunately I've just put them out under talks to the polys.
- 27:42Box about. On the case it must have been
- 27:45on, Joe Ford loses listeners. Oh, good grief.
- 27:49In a series of wonderful images that this story has, and we've
- 27:52named quite a few of them already, and scenes on the deck,
- 27:54the ships in space, all of it. I just think the tiara bomb is
- 27:59another banger of an image. That's an ideal.
- 28:04I like it. You get frozen in time unless
- 28:05you're wearing heels, in which case you just slowly roll back
- 28:08and forwards. I don't think Tegan gets very
- 28:11much to do in the next season. You know, they could have just
- 28:13blown her up here, couldn't they?
- 28:17Oh, bubbly, I don't know. I.
- 28:21Suppose this blow up Adrick so you know might not make it 2 for
- 28:23two. What's the strength of that bomb
- 28:26in the tiara? I think they can, small and
- 28:31mighty. It's not, it's not like the TR
- 28:34does the actual bomb, is it? It's what the laser focuses on.
- 28:39So it's the laser that does the damage.
- 28:40Oh. OK, I was just worried, you know
- 28:43that. Oh this line.
- 28:45Surrender Dr. or you will regret it.
- 28:49Resist any fur captain ratclass. Right.
- 28:53I'm just scared that if she blows up those boobs are going
- 28:56to literally like. Leap out and sock somebody in
- 28:58the face. Yeah, you might have lost a pair
- 29:00of us with this cliffhanger. Oh my God, look at Lee and.
- 29:05Cameron right now not. Even one of them are talking.
- 29:09They're both fucking hypnotized. By all the jugs on the screen,
- 29:14it's true what they say about the Scots.
- 29:15You know, good growth. What?
- 29:19Did what did. They say about the Scottish you
- 29:24love a. Juicy pear.
- 29:25They love, you know. You love a juicy pear.
- 29:29I mean, I mean, don't you love though, when the villains talk
- 29:32straight out the screen like that?
- 29:34Talking straight. To us, it's.
- 29:36It's nothing about a good four fall break, is it?
- 29:38It needs to be at least for. Example Lee.
- 29:41Oh what? Talking straight down the lens
- 29:44God, there must be loads this year.
- 29:47Oh, I thought of one Kane in Dragon Fire.
- 29:51At last the dragon fire shall be mine.
- 29:55That's. The the.
- 29:57The dude in keys about Ghazani that keeps turning round, The
- 30:02guy in the. Office and he's going.
- 30:03To what he doesn't know is that and all that kind of stuff.
- 30:08Best one is he? Goes.
- 30:10It could only have. Been the president.
- 30:12'S. Thank you.
- 30:14Thank you. Anyone else?
- 30:17Oh, the Valley does it, doesn't it?
- 30:19At the end of trial of a time, though?
- 30:20He just laughs. But.
- 30:21Yeah, it'll be an obvious one we're missing.
- 30:27Sure, I've just. Thought of one which isn't a
- 30:29villain, Rico. Roscoe's, you know.
- 30:31Whatever you've seen before, you ain't seen nothing yet.
- 30:35And he stares straight down the camera.
- 30:37So all these people complaining about Mrs. Flood, all right?
- 30:41It was fucking happening all the time.
- 30:44Anymore. Anymore, fellas?
- 30:45Oh. God, I've keep going.
- 30:46I. Was gonna say you're about
- 30:47positive you're a 300 and X plus.
- 30:51No, it's exactly frustrated cameras.
- 30:54Oh, Professor Zarov, of course. Nothing in the world.
- 30:58That's I was thinking, I was trying to remember the episode
- 31:00that was from the Azarov. But surely the master does it a
- 31:03lot? No, no.
- 31:06Now, if a master was going to do it, it'd surely be Eric Roberts.
- 31:09He must have a straight down the camera a moment.
- 31:11Oh my God, we've all forgotten Karamar and Tommy the Rani.
- 31:14She does it so many times. Pretentious is the word you
- 31:18know. Doesn't you just?
- 31:19Look at the camera at 1:00. Point and go, cretin.
- 31:27Oh sorry boys, Jesus Christ, there was many saying go to bed
- 31:30at 10, it's quarter past now, never cares who.
- 31:34Cares yeah, you won't get away with this one job I.
- 31:36Couldn't sleep when I'm dead. Well look, should we?
- 31:39Should we head into episode 4 and see how this RIP roaring
- 31:43story climaxes? Yeah, let's do that it.
- 31:49Was very reasonable response. Thank you.
