- 0:28Hey you guys, welcome to episode 147 of the Shift podcast.
- 0:32This is the second week of the new change in the podcast
- 0:36episodes. And if you guys listened to last
- 0:39week, I made an invitation to invite you guys to the Shift
- 0:43preview calls. In the preview calls, we are
- 0:47going to be giving you a taste of what it's like going to be
- 0:50inside the Shift program. And this week I felt like I just
- 0:54kind of wanted to break down what's going to be included in
- 0:57these calls. What to expect and what you're
- 0:59going to be getting out of them. And I want to invite you guys if
- 1:02you haven't signed up yet, join us inside the show notes.
- 1:05You can sign up. It's going to be Monday, March
- 1:089th through Wednesday, March 11th.
- 1:10It's going to be 1 hour each day and I'm going to kind of talk
- 1:13about each day what we're going to be talking about and what the
- 1:16structure of the call is going to look like.
- 1:18So you know exactly what to expect.
- 1:20Now when you sign up, you don't have to come to all three.
- 1:22You just get the link that will send you via your e-mail and you
- 1:27can attend one day, 2 days, or all three of those days.
- 1:29When you also sign up, you will also get the replays for all of
- 1:31those as well. So I'm going to talk to you a
- 1:34little bit about first, like kind of what this program is
- 1:38talking about and shifts in our life.
- 1:40I created this program and the name of it, the shift, because I
- 1:45think that we are constantly making small and big shifts in
- 1:50our life. And I think there's intentional
- 1:51ones. There's ones where we move
- 1:54departments or a new job or we complete slightly shift in a
- 1:58career like I did 4 times when I was talking about how I've gone
- 2:01from communications to banking to nursing and then to life
- 2:05coaching. You can maybe have an
- 2:08intentional shift where you're wanting to start a business or
- 2:11be an entrepreneur or grow your business that you already have.
- 2:15You could be having an intentional shift where you're
- 2:18starting a new relationship or wanting to have a new
- 2:20relationship or mending a friendship or a family member
- 2:23relationship. You might be navigating changes
- 2:27in friendships. You might might be experiencing
- 2:29doubt or imposter syndrome and you're wanting to make a shift
- 2:32into more confidence or no more people pleasing.
- 2:37And then I think that there's shifts that we continue to make
- 2:41in our identity. When we decide what we want,
- 2:44maybe we it might change or we want something different.
- 2:47This isn't a shift in what you want and an identity shift.
- 2:51There's also non intentional shifts that we have in our life
- 2:53where there's a breakup or a divorce or a friendship that has
- 2:59just ended. Or maybe we've been let go from
- 3:03a job, or we quit a job, or we have a health scare that we
- 3:06didn't expect, or a new health concern that just came up for
- 3:09us, or a diagnosis, chronic or acute.
- 3:13We might have a death in the family or we might be
- 3:15experiencing money problems or debt.
- 3:18I know the last two years I have had almost all of these things
- 3:23and because of it, I've been so grateful that I've had life
- 3:28coaching tools to be able to help me navigate myself through
- 3:32these intentional and non intentional shifts.
- 3:35So This is why I really believe putting these tools into the
- 3:40hands of everybody who wants to feel better and everybody who
- 3:44has a human brain will help you confidently navigate these both
- 3:48intentional and unintentional or non intentional shifts that are
- 3:52happening in your life. And I wanted to create this
- 3:54program because I think that this is lifetime shifting,
- 3:57right? Like this is lifetime.
- 3:59We're constantly changing. And I want to be able to have
- 4:02this program to support anybody who wants these life coaching
- 4:05tools who or is life is lifing to them or life is happening.
- 4:09So I wanted to first start out by asking how many of you guys
- 4:13maybe feel stuck right now and indecision spinning unclear of
- 4:18how to move forward. I remember the way the exact
- 4:21moment that I felt before I hired my first life coach.
- 4:24And for me, it just looked like a huge mismanaged mind.
- 4:29We think millions of thoughts every day.
- 4:31And what was happening for me is it was like compounding all of
- 4:35of these thoughts and I use and I and I felt like at points in
- 4:38my life before I found a coach, I was really good at navigating
- 4:42some of these thoughts and listening to the more powerful
- 4:44ones. But it came to a head for me
- 4:46when I had all of these changes. My kids were growing up.
- 4:50I was starting a job as a flight nurse.
- 4:52It became more intense. I was worried about my
- 4:55confidence of being able to be a good mother and then also have
- 4:59this intense, high pressurized job.
- 5:02And I realized I had a mismanaged mind.
- 5:05I I had all these thousands of thoughts and I was listening to
- 5:08almost every single one of them. But because of that I felt
- 5:11really stuck in feeling good about myself, feeling like I was
- 5:16enough. I remember I had thoughts of
- 5:18like, am I good? Am I, am I a good enough mother?
- 5:21Am I a good enough wife? Am I good enough at my job
- 5:26because I am experiencing some things in my home life too.
- 5:30And then just the weight of the job of, you know, all of you
- 5:32guys who work in healthcare who experience deaths and
- 5:36unexpected, I, you know, levels of pressure and unexpected
- 5:41deaths in your patients. And I remember there was just
- 5:44this moment where I had about 5 patients and three of those are
- 5:48pediatric pass away over the course of like, I think it was
- 5:51four or five weeks. And it really got to me and it
- 5:54came to a head and I just asked myself this question, am I
- 5:58enough? And I wasn't sure if I believed
- 6:01it anymore. And that was when I realized I
- 6:05wanted to seek out the power of having a coach.
- 6:08I had heard about life coaching before, but I never really
- 6:11experienced it for myself. And so when I found coaching, I
- 6:16found out how to manage my mind. I found out how to allow all the
- 6:22thousands of thoughts that I was having, but which ones to listen
- 6:25to. How to allow myself to be
- 6:28scared, have fear and doubt, but also how to generate courage,
- 6:33confidence and how to move, move forward with both and hold space
- 6:38with all of those emotions. It also gave me accountability
- 6:42of being able to express to someone outside of people who
- 6:45were close to me, how I was feeling the thoughts that I was
- 6:47having, the good, bad and ugly and then help have them help me
- 6:51make sense of which ones to listen to and how to generate
- 6:55more courage and confidence in my life.
- 6:57When I did that, I had a more managed mind and what this
- 7:01managed mind allowed me to do was move forward, word with the
- 7:05decisions that I wanted to make and confidently learn to believe
- 7:09that I was enough. And this was huge when I taught
- 7:13myself how to not have to rely on a job or my kids or my spouse
- 7:19or my friends telling me that I was doing a good job.
- 7:22This was a game changer for me. When I realized that
- 7:25circumstances didn't have to determine the way that I feel,
- 7:28this changed how I showed up. And I realized I had the power
- 7:34to be able to decide what was enough and that what I was doing
- 7:37was good enough. It gave me my time back.
- 7:40It gave me my mind back. It gave me all my relationships
- 7:44back. And so these are the tools that
- 7:47I have kind of learned and that I have generated and taught
- 7:50people over the hundreds of people that I've coached both
- 7:52inside my programs and one-on-one.
- 7:55And in the past couple podcasts, you've heard a little bit of
- 7:58like the power of having a coach, the power of having a
- 8:01community, the power of having support.
- 8:03And on this particular podcast where I'm, I'm going to talk to
- 8:06you about what I'm going to be teaching specifically in the
- 8:08shift preview calls. And this particular podcast, I'm
- 8:12going to be talking about the power of having a well managed
- 8:14mind and, and the power of having a plan.
- 8:17I really think when you start to have a well managed mind that
- 8:21your plan becomes clear. You're able to create a plan
- 8:25from abundance instead of scarcity, meaning, let me give
- 8:28you an example. Creating a plan from scarcity
- 8:32would be like, OK, how do I manage being a better mother
- 8:37when I'm at home when I'm not working my high stress job?
- 8:40But if I'm doing this and creating it from scarcity and
- 8:43lack and like I'm not good enough, my plan and the actions
- 8:46that I create in this plan might be very different.
- 8:48It might be like go to all the things that my kids want to go
- 8:51to whenever they asked me to do something, say yes.
- 8:54But when you create a plan from abundance, which is a well
- 8:58managed mind, it might be like, okay, this is how I create my
- 9:02plan. I'm going to filter out the
- 9:04things that I can prioritize doing and I'm going to feel
- 9:08really good and have intentional time when I go and do those
- 9:10things with my kids. I'm going to have the energy and
- 9:13intentionally spend time with them and not be thinking about
- 9:16work or any of the things on my To Do List.
- 9:18And when I do have to say no to them in this plan, if I say I do
- 9:22have to say no to them and I can't do it because I don't have
- 9:26the energy or I really, really don't have the time, then I am
- 9:29going to allow myself maybe to feel a little guilty, but tell
- 9:33myself like this is how I'm prioritizing my time, my needs
- 9:37and their needs as well. And just notice the difference
- 9:41of having a well thought out plan from abundancy.
- 9:44I really think that when you can have a well managed mind, you
- 9:47can come from this place of abundance instead of scarcity
- 9:50and you're able to create a plan that feels really good for you
- 9:54and that you can confidently move forward with.
- 9:56Notice I didn't say that you won't have any doubt and you
- 9:59won't feel any guilt and you won't feel any negative
- 10:01emotions, but you're going to learn how to bring those
- 10:03emotions with you. So the power of having
- 10:07application of these tools, using them weekly over and over
- 10:11again will create results for you immediately and will create
- 10:17long lasting results for you. So I haven't had a one-on-one
- 10:20coach for the last five years and I can tell you it has helped
- 10:24manage my mind immensely. This is the reason why I really
- 10:27believe inside my one-on-one and inside my programs and inside
- 10:30this new program, the shift to have a weekly one-on-one call.
- 10:33Because when you guys attend the these calls, even the shift
- 10:36preview calls, you're going to see that you're going to feel
- 10:38high levels of motivation and desire.
- 10:41And then as soon as you get off of these calls, life is going to
- 10:44happen immediately. Obstacles are going to come up.
- 10:46You're going to have lots of thoughts.
- 10:47You're going to have friends or family tell you negative things
- 10:50and then you're going to have thoughts about the things that
- 10:51they're telling you. And so the point of having these
- 10:55weekly calls is so you can have these high levels of like having
- 10:59the managed mind. And then as your week progresses
- 11:02and as it starts to fizzle out, you can see all the obstacles
- 11:06that is coming up for you. And then you will have that call
- 11:107 days later to get right back on the train and get yourself
- 11:13right back up. But the difference is I am going
- 11:16to be teaching you the tools that will work for you as the
- 11:20days start to fizzle out, as you have started to meet the
- 11:24obstacles and life starts to happen.
- 11:26I'm going to give you the tools so that you can help yourself
- 11:29come from a place of abundance and not scarcity and manage that
- 11:33mind. It will become easier and easier
- 11:36for you as you're applying and you're learning these tools for
- 11:38your life. And you're going to see
- 11:41immediate results of feeling better.
- 11:46Because what I'm going to teach you to do on these shift preview
- 11:48calls is how to make sense of the thousand thoughts that
- 11:51you're having, which ones to listen to, and how do we allow
- 11:56those other ones to come, but then to really just hone in on
- 12:00the ones that are going to be beneficial for us.
- 12:03So that's the power of having a well managed mind.
- 12:05That's the power of creating a plan from abundance.
- 12:08And then also the result for that is just going to give you
- 12:12long lasting confidence in the decision that you're making.
- 12:16You're going to see less time being stuck.
- 12:18You're going to see less time spinning, and you're going to
- 12:21just be more decisive in the decisions that you're making and
- 12:24feel better doing it. One thing that I wanted to talk
- 12:27about that I was thinking might be something that you guys have
- 12:32not heard of before is what is coaching.
- 12:35So right now I'm just going to talk to you about what is
- 12:37coaching, what to expect from being coached, and what to
- 12:39expect from watching others being coached.
- 12:42I just wonder if maybe this is a hesitation why some of you guys
- 12:45might not want to sign up for the call.
- 12:46So I just kind of want to go through this briefly with you
- 12:48guys. So when I found coaching, I
- 12:50didn't know what that was either.
- 12:51I was like, I had experienced therapy growing up.
- 12:55And while therapy was good, I didn't love like so much of the
- 12:58emphasis on my past. I really needed something that
- 13:01was going to also emphasize where I was going, where I am
- 13:04now, and how do I bridge that gap of where I want to be.
- 13:07And so coaching really, really, really just focuses on who you
- 13:11are now and where you want to go and who you want to be.
- 13:14And because of that, in coaching, it's really just
- 13:19expressing all of these thoughts and feelings that are coming up
- 13:22for you. The more descriptive you can be
- 13:25and just let it be messy as you're as you're like, hey, I'm
- 13:27having this thought and this is coming up like I'm not good
- 13:30enough and I'm having these pressures at work and then my
- 13:32kids are becoming teenagers. The more you can just express
- 13:35these obstacles and thoughts that you're having, then as your
- 13:39coach, what I do is I can piece together everything that's
- 13:43happening. I come up with questions, I show
- 13:46you your thoughts back and then I give you questions that help
- 13:49you move forward with abundance instead of scarcity and how to
- 13:53maybe think about it differently so that you can make sense of
- 13:56all the thoughts that you're having and then move forward
- 13:58clearly. So in coaching, when you're
- 14:01being coached, the more descriptive and just open and
- 14:04messy you can be in delivering it.
- 14:06It's my job as your coach to make sense of all your thoughts
- 14:09and then show them back to you so that you can see what thought
- 14:13airs you're maybe having, how to create a plan and how to move
- 14:15forward, what to expect if you're being coached.
- 14:19Often times you and I still do this even with my coach after
- 14:22getting coaching for five years. I'm like, I don't know.
- 14:25And sometimes it might feel like I'm asking you some really
- 14:29difficult questions to come up with an answer, but that's OK.
- 14:32That's how you know I'm in the right place.
- 14:35Because when you're being coached, it's like your, your
- 14:40coach is asking you things that you've never thought of before
- 14:43that you might be so stuck in your thought air or this one
- 14:47thought of, I don't know enough that you can't see the other
- 14:49side of like what you do know and what you are certain of.
- 14:53So that's just like one example of that.
- 14:55So as you're being coached, just expect to have a little bit of,
- 14:58I don't know, an answer and to maybe not quickly be able to
- 15:03find it. That's OK.
- 15:04And that is normal. And so expect to be thinking
- 15:07your brain. I don't know.
- 15:08That's how we know we're getting closer to whatever the thought
- 15:11air is and how we're getting closer to getting you clarity.
- 15:14If you are the one watching someone else be coached, I
- 15:17really think this is just as valuable, if not more because
- 15:21you're not stuck in your head as a coach is asking you questions.
- 15:24So you can be thinking to yourself as you're watching that
- 15:26person be coached, how can this problem or obstacle that they're
- 15:30facing apply to me? And where have I seen this
- 15:33happen in myself either in the past right now or might happen
- 15:37to me in the future? And watching someone else might
- 15:41give you so much more out of it because you're not stuck in your
- 15:44head as I'm asking, seeing the questions.
- 15:45And you might be like, Oh yeah, I see myself doing that.
- 15:49And that is so clear how I move forward from this.
- 15:52So I wanted to give you guys a little bit of like what to
- 15:55expect on these preview calls. What's going to happen structure
- 15:59wise is I am going to, and I'm going to talk to you about the
- 16:02three topics on each of the days.
- 16:03I'm going to be talking about now.
- 16:05But what I'm going to be doing is talking about the topic for
- 16:08about 10 minutes with you. And then I'm going to be
- 16:10offering you questions and then I'm going to open it up for the
- 16:13questions to be answered by you guys, for you guys to get
- 16:17coaching on where you might be stuck in answering these
- 16:20questions and live integrations. You can watch others.
- 16:24Now I am inviting my current client.
- 16:25So you'll get to kind of see what it is like to get coached
- 16:30and receive the coaching and also listen to the coaching.
- 16:33But this is your opportunity to really get clear if you are
- 16:38stuck in indecision right now or you are, you are in between an
- 16:41intentional and an intentional shift.
- 16:44And this is just an opportunity for you to be able to see talk
- 16:49about these subjects that I'm going to be going over now and
- 16:53then see what live integration coaching is like.
- 16:57Use this opportunity to be in high motivation, desire these
- 17:01three days. If you can come all three again,
- 17:03if you can only come one, that's great.
- 17:05Come to 1, come to two, come to all.
- 17:07So right now I'm going to go over the three topics that I'm
- 17:11going to be covering. So Monday, March 9th.
- 17:14Oh, I guess I didn't keep going with that.
- 17:17So the first five to 10 minutes I'm going to be talking about
- 17:19the topic, offering questions, and then after that I'm going to
- 17:22be opening it up to coaching. Anybody who wants to be coached,
- 17:25you can watch the coaching live. And I'm going to be giving you
- 17:28some examples that I see currently in my clients who have
- 17:31been dealing with these issues too, so you can see how they
- 17:33relate to you. It's going to be an hour long.
- 17:37I'm going to try to really best to stick to an hour.
- 17:40And if you sign up for the calls, you'll be able to access
- 17:44all the replays as well. So Monday, March 9th, which is
- 17:47this next Monday, I'm going to be doing this call at noon
- 17:50Pacific Standard Time. We are going to be talking about
- 17:53how do you create confidence and uncertainty?
- 17:55I've really been thinking about what is the process I've taken
- 17:58myself through as I made four really big career shifts.
- 18:01How did I do that confidently? And so I've kind of going to be
- 18:06talking to you about the process that I take myself through every
- 18:08time I create an unintentional, unintentional shift in my life.
- 18:12So we're going to be talking about how do we move forward
- 18:18with our future shift or confidence and uncertainty when
- 18:22we're facing an obstacle or problem and not be leaning on
- 18:26the past. So most of us when we're trying
- 18:29to create a new career or a new job, for example, like I was
- 18:33telling you about with myself, we lean on how did we do it in
- 18:36the past or what were we capable in the past of doing?
- 18:40And when I think about creating a new job, for example, or a new
- 18:46career, I never look to my past because if I look to my past,
- 18:49then I'm only limited by what I've created in the past.
- 18:52I always just like be pulled by my future me of me who's already
- 18:57accomplished it, who's already done it.
- 18:59And so I'm going to really teach you, how do you pull from that
- 19:02future you? How do you think about it
- 19:04differently so that you can create something you've never
- 19:07done before? And I want to tell you that on
- 19:10the other side of four of these big shifts, each time time I
- 19:14have created, I think a better identity for myself.
- 19:17And the only reason I've been able to do that is not been been
- 19:22looking into the certainty of my past, but really been pulled by
- 19:25the future and and what I want to do because the future really
- 19:28also determines your present and how you show up now and how you
- 19:31navigate this shift in this obstacle.
- 19:33So that's day one. I'm going to teach you how to do
- 19:36that. Tuesday, March 10th, it's going
- 19:38to be at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.
- 19:40I am going to teach you how to start to create momentum.
- 19:44When you set a goal for yourself or you have an obstacle, the
- 19:47very first thing that comes out is all the thoughts of how it's
- 19:50not going to work, all the thoughts of how you're going to
- 19:52fail. And the first thing you have to
- 19:54do is recognize what are those thoughts and how are they
- 19:58slowing down. The more specific we can get
- 20:01with the thoughts, the more that we can overcome them and work
- 20:04through them. And I'm going to teach you how
- 20:05do you get yourself into motion when you feel imposter syndrome,
- 20:09when you feel fear of failure, how to take action and not spend
- 20:15time spinning in that drama. And indulging and unuseful
- 20:19thoughts that are keeping you stuck.
- 20:22I'm going to teach you how to create momentum and to put your
- 20:25car into drive on Tuesday, the last day, Wednesday, March 11th.
- 20:31I'm going to teach you the process of decluttering your
- 20:33brain. It's something that I do every
- 20:35single day when I first start my morning.
- 20:37I'm going to teach you how do we navigate all the thousands of
- 20:40thoughts that you're thinking, getting really clear about the
- 20:43specific brain chatter. What are the thoughts your
- 20:45brains offering you? What are the feelings that
