- 0:01Coming up on this week's episode of hip Hop Now podcast is Kendrick Lamar milking
- 0:08the success of his battle with Drake. Billboard crowns Nazi's debut album Illmatic as
- 0:17the greatest rap album of all time, and my thoughts on new albums by
- 0:24Eminem and Common and Pete Rock. Hip hop is alive and well, y'all
- 0:31just take it all in. That's all do. I gotta say pause for
- 0:36that. Let's do it. Welcome to jipp Hop Now podcast. As if
- 0:47you from the future, you know what you do, show as out so
- 0:54disrespect the leg hip hop is say to day, get raped to the business.

- 1:23get some insights, you know, some some perks here and there.
- 1:27You know, it ain't crowded over there, but everything is appreciated. Visit
- 1:33inscription of this episode, big shout out to those who have watched the past
- 1:40couple of episodes where I've done, you know, hip hop lists that I
- 1:45literally never do. I did a best of twenty twenty four so far,
- 1:49and we want to talk about that a little bit later because that list is
- 1:53going to look very different come the end of the year. So all of
- 1:59that content is dead. Tale of the tapes, which we'll be returning very
- 2:02soon. I'm just trying to make sure y'all saw what I already did.
- 2:07You know, you gotta can't just keep doing videos and people ain't check out,
- 2:10you know, the other stuff. So a lot of content there before
- 2:15I begin. Before I begin, first and foremost, this episode is dedicated
- 2:22to my mother, who passed away on July third of twenty twenty four.
- 2:28She was at the age of seventy four. Obviously, I am everything she
- 2:34made me, obviously, but for those who don't know, my mother was
- 2:39most raising four kids throughout life, and you know, my father wasn't really
- 2:46there. So a lot of what you get for me comes from my mother.
- 2:53Things I say, my attitude, I think a number of things my
- 2:57cousin comes from my mother's So I just want to dedicate this to her.
- 3:02She I am because of her, and you know, obviously people are gonna
- 3:07lose their parents, some earlier than others. I appreciate the time I had
- 3:13with my mother, and I appreciate all the things she showed me to get
- 3:16me to this point so that I can pass it on to people I come
- 3:21in contact with and with my children and stuff like that. So again,
- 3:25rest in peace, Mama. Now getting into the business there and had big
- 3:39shout out to hip hopdx dot com, all hip hop dot com and Brosures
- 3:44for Head, sometimes random social media dude who posts hip hop YouTube and a
- 3:49couple of places where I get some of my stories from. Let's get right
- 3:52into the business. So I took a week off. I don't think anybody
- 4:00blinked because nobody said, hey, it was a new episode, so cool.
- 4:04But in that week I took off. Kendrick Lamar dropped Not Like Us
- 4:12video. Me and my wife watched it. First, watched the video a
- 4:16couple of times. We thought the video was just so dope, just the
- 4:19way it was shot. Then we watched some reactions and obviously there was the
- 4:24social media stuff. I posted some things on social media when it happened,
- 4:29and there was one thing that was popping up in the minds of hip hop
- 4:33heads and I quote on social media, probably Drake fans who just wanted to
- 4:43stop. But they were saying Kendrick Lamar is milking this battle, and some
- 4:49are even going as far as saying milking it because he needed it, he
- 4:53needed a hit, or he needed that, and it just kind of backhanded
- 4:59compliments and ways of saying he only has because of Drake, which is so
- 5:04untrue, so untrue. Now, I'm not going to get into the battle
- 5:11whatever, because I've done that in past episodes. Kendrick one, you don't
- 5:15like it, get out now, well let me even not I have a
- 5:20debate and just go on with our lives. But it is milking this situation.
- 5:30I can't agree with that. And one of the reasons why I find
- 5:34it difficult to believe any part of that is because Kendrick already has a certain
- 5:43level of success prior to this battle. Anyway, Let's not pretend like when
- 5:48he drops, the hip hop world attention to what he's doing, regardless if
- 5:55they like it or not. The hip hop world checks in people who drop,
- 6:00and nobody knows and nobody cares, and they have a lot of fame,
- 6:03like I feel like Game Game Catalog, and sometimes he could drop a
- 6:10very dope album, most people don't care, and he has a certain level
- 6:14of celebrity and that's just what it is. But Kendrick was already a star,
- 6:18he was already platinum, He already won several brands. I believe he
- 6:24has more than Drake. And this is not to get at Drake because my
- 6:29Drake fandom hasn't stopped. There's some things I questioned about him as a man,
- 6:33but I don't know. I didn't throw all my Drake music away as
- 6:38a result of this battle. So my feelings about it is literally as a
- 6:43spectator. And to be honest, Kendrick, who also has a pulitzer,
- 6:48is he's already received the flowers. I feel like his dig disciography is solid.
- 6:58He doesn't have a whack out. He may have albums that you prefer
- 7:01more than hell good Kid, Mad City will always be at the top of
- 7:06my list when it comes to uh my albums. So milking it as if
- 7:13he needed it. When he just left TD not too long ago and started
- 7:16his own label and was able to gain some success with that label and his
- 7:20brother Baby I mean not his brother, his cousin, Baby King. What's
- 7:27what? Why we need milk? And at the end of the day,
- 7:31I chalk it up as y'all don't know what it's like when real music and
- 7:39artistry gets popular. It's infectious, y'all. See, they are a sect
- 7:46of fans who think because everybody's talking about something and it's popular, that it's
- 7:53great. And that's not the same. Not all celebrity or popular songs of
- 8:00music or artists are created equally, right. I think Kendrick said it the
- 8:05best. Drake is a very popular, successful and probably almost a bigger celebrity
- 8:13than Kendrick, Right, But let's just look at them both as being highly
- 8:18successful and being celebrities. Kendrick said it. I make music that electrify him.
- 8:26You make music that pacify it. Now, nothing wrong with a little
- 8:30pacifying music because I like a little bop, a little groove or whatever.
- 8:35You know, it doesn't have to be that deep. I can enjoy that
- 8:39type of music from Drake and enjoy something like miss them around the Big Steppers
- 8:43that's deeper, and it doesn't have to be either or for me. So
- 8:50what they're looking at now is you aren't here for jay Z and Nas Young
- 8:56And let me just tell you real quick, there are some people who deny
- 9:00it, but trust me, they in a room by themselves. Well it's
- 9:03a couple of them in a room, but not enough. Okay. Jay
- 9:07Z was king of New York at this point. He was dropping the album
- 9:13every multiple hits, the videos, he was making money. He just could
- 9:20not miss. He was the biggest artist at the time. Didn't matter what
- 9:22Cosey was on, he was that successful. He got into this battle with
- 9:28Nas etha dropped and because it was so earth shattering everything that was being said,
- 9:37and because Nas that was doing it. That's the difference is who's doing
- 9:41it. It's not exactly what's being said, whether it's true or not.
- 9:43It's because it's Nas. It's the guy, it's the golden Child's the chosen
- 9:48one. It's the Illmatic. Like jay Z doesn't have an Illmatic. He
- 9:54doesn't have an album that has that level of admiration. Now, Jays he
- 10:00has classics, and so does Nas, but ill Magic is different. Illmatic
- 10:05affected people in a way that extends beyond just classic, right, and jay
- 10:11Z just doesn't have that and he didn't have that at that time. So
- 10:15it was the fact that it was that guy saying these things about the popular
- 10:22artists that it made it. It made the impact greater. And it's the
- 10:28same thing that's happening right now. It's the dissection. It's the rollout that
- 10:33Kendrick Lamar did that informed the people to a degree we don't know what's true
- 10:39or not about Drake And it was almost like Easter eggs where you can just
- 10:46go and find the truth yourself based off of Kendrick just exposing it a little
- 10:52bit similar to push your tea with his son, right, boom, you
- 10:54got a son, Why try to hide him? And then now we all
- 10:58see him and no, oh he did have some So it's stuff like that
- 11:03where Kendrick Lamar is the perfect artist to do this to Drake. He's the
- 11:09only one that could. Rick Rosse couldn't do this to Drake. He lacks
- 11:13the skill, he lacks the integrity. And I'm not trying to say nothing
- 11:18negative, but the integrity that comes along with Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick Lamar is
- 11:22respected on a whole nother level from all of those artists I name. So
- 11:28the fact is him going back in that bag from before he was famous,
- 11:33makes it dope and it's a bop and the videos creative and it's a community
- 11:39thing. And he gathered people in in a way that didn't just try to
- 11:43turn them against Drake. He just pointed out things that people could say,
- 11:48like, yeah, I wouldn't do that. He not like us game over.
- 11:54So when you say he's milking it, sure everybody's done it ain't gun
- 12:00Kelly put out a dope disc record if you ask me against eminem And I
- 12:05thought Killshot was cool, but I just messed with the machine gun Kelly thing.
- 12:09But he didn't even wait for that paint to dry. He was like,
- 12:13I'm announcing the tour, new album, blah blah blah. That was
- 12:16milking it. But why wouldn't you right if Drake defeated Kendrick because of who
- 12:24Kendrick is, Drake would have rode that horse. He would have milked that
- 12:30joint. And some may say, oh, well, you know he don't
- 12:33need the milky, Yes he dude, because Drake is not in hip hop
- 12:41boss. Some cats don't even put Drake on a list. They don't care.
- 12:46Ghost Riders and all that day go on the list for Drake out prove
- 12:54himself at the ultimate level, Like here's my pier. Here's somebody who y'all
- 12:58respect artistically, lyrically, y'all give them more awards than me. Y'all give
- 13:03him a pulitzer, and I'm about to rip him down on some hip hop
- 13:07stuff. He would have milked that. He wouldn't. He would have took
- 13:13the crown and been like boom, I'm I'm the king. But it ain't
- 13:18happened that way. So for those who are not used to being a fan
- 13:24of someone competitively and having them lose, like I was, I'm a Lebron
- 13:30fan. He ain't win no. Eight championships, but he THEMN there.
- 13:33He'd been to the finals like eight years in a row. I think it
- 13:35was. So there were plenty of years where I got to it was four
- 13:39years where I got to celebrate as a fan, and I told you,
- 13:43oh and blah blah blah, And it was like four other years or whatever
- 13:46it was, or ten. I think he did ten years straight where I
- 13:50you know, I just had to take the l and all the haters rose
- 13:54up and I told you he garbage. He been garbage, you know,
- 13:56say all kinds of things that aren't true. You just got to sit there
- 14:00and take it unless you want to argue everybody. So with that being said,
- 14:05it's not gonna be over. The milking will continue. Why because it
- 14:11feels fantastic as a video. I can see it when in awards as a
- 14:16video and the song is so crazy it's it at least has to be nominated,
- 14:24right. It depends on what it beats, you know, then it
- 14:26becomes debatable if it's a better song than another song, but it just has
- 14:31to be nominated because it's that, it's that largest, it's I mean,
- 14:37I've been spending a lot of time on this, but it's really done so
- 14:39much as far as like social media trending and stringen not even box, people
- 14:50remixing and blah blah blah and reactions and people breaking down his Easter eggs.
- 14:56The song is just I've just never seen this in a battle way. One
- 15:01of the disc records becomes a hit record, like people forget the words,
- 15:05like what they're saying, like when you got minor saying a minor when part
- 15:13of you as an adult feels like I don't think they should be singing this.
- 15:18The song gotta be nominated. So there you have it. Billboard crowns
- 15:24nazismag as the greatest rap album of all time. I'm pulling this from Hip
- 15:37Hop d X dot com. Obviously, Billboard put out of this, but
- 15:41Nas screenshoted his top spot and said thank you the Billboard and the people will
- 15:50hear on Ellmannic for those watching who wanted to know what the other ones were,
- 15:56Naza's nineteen ninety four debut beat out the seminal albums like Doctor Dre's The
- 16:02Chronic, Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation in the Lauryn Hill. I don't know why
- 16:04that is there because they ain't a lot of rapping on the album. But
- 16:07whatever appointment of Biggie's Life after Death, Tupac's Old Eyes on Me, Snoop
- 16:14Dog's Doggie Style, every being around, Chem's Paid the Full, jay Z's
- 16:17The Blueprint, and slick Ricks The Great Adventures is slick Rick. I mean,
- 16:25I've given my I get the rest of the list is kind of crazy,
- 16:30and we're not doing that today. But I've given my feelings about Illmatic,
- 16:37and I think my my feelings about it a little different because of how
- 16:41close to the situation I was. If you don't know, go watch old
- 16:45episodes. It was my cousin. I grew up around Nins. I know
- 16:48him, Okay d end Right. So at the time, Illmatic was something
- 16:53different from me. It was written is probably more when I became like straight
- 16:57up a fan of nas like yoh nah, he's dumb. Nice, But
- 17:03ill Matic did something to the culture. I watched. I watched people around
- 17:07me, I watch friends, and I watched people in Queensbridge. When that
- 17:11joint dropped, it just was different. Man. It felt like rap was
- 17:18being taken from one era and just forced being forced moving to whatever. It
- 17:23was just that crazy. And I know a lot of people it's just to
- 17:29go to when they say number one. What I do like about this top
- 17:33ten? The only one I would live out the top ten is Laurence Hill's
- 17:40album because it's just it's more singing than rapping on it, So it's it's
- 17:45not a rap album to me, Like Drake got albums where he rapping more
- 17:52than that on it. They're not as good. But I'm just saying,
- 17:56but the other the other here, like I can't for what they're going for.
- 18:03These were these were huge albums. Culturally, HOWK Big Dre Snoop.
- 18:11I mean, Lauren Hill was too. I just don't think it's enough rapping
- 18:14every being rock King and definitely Slick Rick and even jay Z's the Blueprint because
- 18:21even though their albums, I listened to more from jay Z's catalog that I
- 18:26almost never go back to Blueprint, to be honest, at the time,
- 18:33that might have been jay Z's peak. Blueprint, you know, that might
- 18:37have been his peak. Either stopped that peak, but before either was that
- 18:42was peak jay Z. That was all the things that he's done right all
- 18:48in one album. But I find myself skipping a lot now of certain songs.
- 18:55So who knows. It doesn't mean a classic you can't skip. But
- 18:59I'm saying so, I don't know. Do you feel like not Illmatic is
- 19:04hands down the number one rap album of all time? I know a lot
- 19:10of old heads who may not agree, like honestly I would. I would
- 19:15take out Lauryn Hill and put run DMC's Raising Hell in it, right,
- 19:19Like run DMC got to be in the top ten. They have to be,
- 19:23you know, one of those groups, Run DMC, NWA or Public
- 19:27Enemy. Pick one of one of those three need to be in there.
- 19:33But I know this was a staff list at Billboard, and in some ways
- 19:41I think they got a lot right in the top ten. But as you
- 19:47go outside of the top ten, it gets really murky and it gets really
- 19:52funny. So these lists, I get why they do them. I don't
- 19:57get as upset as I used to because it's a bunch of different opinions and
- 20:03you don't know the demographic of age, the makeup of the people on staff
- 20:08because they say staff and you think music. They know what they're talking about.
- 20:14But in some cases, I mean, it could be a younger staff
- 20:18and this is the list, whereas you would think there would be more you
- 20:21know, Kendricks and people like that and it so I don't know. Man,
- 20:26Do I feel like ill Madic is the greatest hip hop album of all
- 20:30time? I don't think so. I think some of those albums, even
- 20:33though the beats were crazy at the time, I feel like there are albums
- 20:40that were just more polished body a body of work that was more polished.
- 20:45Right. Ell Maadic was a collection of songs. It just so happened that
- 20:49it was his young MC with his style, and he was nice and he
- 20:55had some of the greatest hip hop producers at that time on this album,
- 21:00whereas their album's produced on this list like Doggie Style, produced primarily by one
- 21:07guy and maybe some dad stuff, but just so cohesive sonically. How it
- 21:12was laid out so and yeah, like, I mean, you could even
- 21:17put the WU in here rather than Laurence Hill's album. So I don't know
- 21:22what do y'all think? Aromatic number one again not surprised, leave your comments
- 21:27in a common section below. And lastly, so y'all, this was This
- 21:34was like the gift in the curse of a show to have to do,
- 21:38mainly because Jill, what is this today? July thirteenth. July twelfth,
- 21:47twenty twenty four, we got Eminem dropping an album that's a slim shady throwback
- 21:56called The Deficit Slim Shady, cooled g H. We have Common and Pete
- 22:03Rock teaming up to drop an album what is it The Auditorium Just a nice
- 22:08East day the Auditorium. We heard the singles. It was crazy. They
- 22:14went for an old school kind of nineties vibe, but Pete Rock really he
- 22:19really mixed some familiar samples and sounds to perfection. And then we got Blue
- 22:26and Evidence, which I haven't listened to yet, who notoriously are solid with
- 22:33the music they put out, l putting out a new single produced by a
- 22:37Q Tip that's just flawless. Like it's a great time for hip hop,
- 22:42and we're coming off a battle that was great and everybody celebrating, like off
- 22:48the year that was hip hop's fiftieth birthday on fifty one before fifty one,
- 22:56because August is the birthday. Were just getting on of this stuff that speaks
- 23:00to hip hop and bars and real music, real music that matters right real
- 23:07You could tell the artist thought about it. None of the fly by Night.
- 23:11I'm gonna name the same things. I'm gonna have a stupid hook and
- 23:14I'm gonna twork or I'm gonna just throw money at the camera. Nah,
- 23:18like Substance right and Variety and who I Name. Like those three albums alone,
- 23:25you can listen to them all because they all kind of work because it's
- 23:30variety. So with that being said, let's start with Eminem The Death Slim
- 23:37Shady Ku de Gras. It is nineteen tracks deep, with some of those
- 23:45tracks being skits, comes in in about an hour and ten minutes. It
- 23:49did not seem like the album was that long, but it was. And
- 23:57my up front is I am pleasantly surprised. Pleasantly surprised now as a hip
- 24:06hop fan, I love concept albums. The first single, Whudini, did
- 24:11not do it for me. I said it on the show, if that's
- 24:15what the whole album is, I'm already gonna tell you now. I think
- 24:18it's whack, right, But I didn't know until I heard it. I
- 24:22didn't think that's what it was. But I just didn't think he needed to
- 24:25go back to that well of the goofy slim shady thing. But whatever press
- 24:30play on this album. That's literally the only song on this album that sounds
- 24:34like that. Everything else was bars and controversy, and the concept is Eminem's
- 24:44getting rid of slim shady. We gotta kill him. He's not politically correct,
- 24:49says the wrong things. So a lot of the controversial things that are
- 24:53being said in here, especially about Christopher Rees, are coming from some Shade
- 25:00character, and the Eminem character is saying, you can't save Minji. You
- 25:04gotta say little people. One of the things I like about this album,
- 25:08like, for one, if you understand that this is a concept, then
- 25:14don't go looking for boom bap, and there's bars. There's bars in here.
- 25:18The first song, Renaissance sets the tone of Eminem came to act,
- 25:25and that's what I like most about it. It's not the new Eminem with
- 25:29the fast double time, no, No, it's it's the dude that was
- 25:33on rockets and rapping, you know, like the underground Eminem appears on here
- 25:40heavily. But again it's slim Shady, So there's a lot of you know,
- 25:48jabs at people like Jay Rule and stuff like that, but it's all
- 25:52within a concept. And I remember when I'm just getting the checklisted and I
- 25:57saw a guilty count too, and I was like, nah, don't make
- 26:03a part two to that. At that time it was pretty dope. You
- 26:07had never seen that dreams your humorous light, leave it alone. But the
- 26:12way Eminem flipped it, I was like, oh okay. And essentially it's
- 26:18it jobs with the concept of the album. Instead of him and Dre,
- 26:22it's Eminem and Slim Shady talking to each other. And what I do like
- 26:30about all craziness about transgenders and pronouns and things that the Slim Shady character says
- 26:38with ease to offend and getting canceled and wanting to get canceled. The voice
- 26:45of Eminem, who's the mature on the other side of life person is talking
- 26:52to that character and it's saying the opposite how he truly feels. So it
- 26:56was a very clever way to be the Eminem he was that was really offensive,
- 27:04but teach people that that wasn't right and character to bed once and for
- 27:12all. So I really like it from a concept standpoint. There's some tracks
- 27:18where I was like, Yo, this beat is high and Eminem spitting,
- 27:22and I'll just say that if you are a Eminem fan, I think you're
- 27:30gonna love this album. If you were an Eminem fan and after maybe the
- 27:36Eminem Show, you kind of checked out and you really haven't listened to any
- 27:41of the albums. He's had some good albums since then, but he's had
- 27:44some major misses. Also. This is one of the good ones. If
- 27:48you asked me, I love the way it was done. It's a dope
- 27:52conceptual album. Real quick. I just want to say standouts for me.
- 27:56First track Renasance Evil, the song Anti Crisis, It's clactic, but it's
- 28:03dope. Road Rage is dope. Guilty Conscience too. He even has a
- 28:12song I forget what the name of it is. It's called Temporary, uh,
- 28:19dedicated to his daughter Hayley, who if you are an Eminem fan,
- 28:22you just used to how he was using Haley, So it was kind of
- 28:26dope to see this reflection, uh, And it was it was like the
- 28:30Eminem from the album Recovery, where he was just opening up and being honest
- 28:36about his life and himself. So again, it's gonna it's gonna be tough
- 28:41because this is the type of album that I'm talking about as far as craftsmanship
- 28:48that you know, makes the top five for me. At the end of
- 28:52the year, we'll see if it gets there, but right now it's it's
- 28:55a heavy candidate for that. And I just want to say lastly on that,
- 29:00if you've never liked Eminem or we don't play Eminem in the hood,
- 29:03we don't play Eminem in the barbershop. If you press play, you only
- 29:07came to hate, because there's nothing here that's going to convince you to I
- 29:15mean, if you're curious, just press play. But there's nothing here that's
- 29:18going to convince somebody who's never got into Eminem to now get into Eminem.
- 29:25If it does then that's even better. But I would just say this is
- 29:30kind of for the fans of eminem if you understand what slim Shady character has
- 29:34been and all that in the history, this is a pretty dope album to
- 29:38listen to, so they have it. When it comes to the Peat Rock
- 29:45and Common album, the Auditorium Valuable One, this is about fifteen tracks.
- 29:51There's an oultro. I don't know if there's another skit I can't remember,
- 29:56but there's definitely an oultro on here clocked in. I ain't ben gonna hold
- 30:02y'all this in my top five and that's with Pete Rock's production alone. When
- 30:08I tell you Pete Rock is flawless on this album, this is you know,
- 30:15it's like this is like Group Holme's debut album all over again, but
- 30:22it's Pete Rock and Common is a better MC than them. Pete Rock lace
- 30:29Common with some of the dopest beats that tug on the nostalgia strings, but
- 30:34aren't just loops at a certain vibe and it's variety, That's what I mean.
- 30:41Some dudes just let me nod and boom back, like let me stay
- 30:48in that lane, and they don't want to. They don't want to.
- 30:52They're too far off the road when it comes to that. But this is
- 30:57just like Pete Rock needs to be producing for more high profile artists. Hands
- 31:06down, there's no way a jay Z, a Jadakiss styles of nas push
- 31:11t no way they hear this and don't say to themselves. I at least
- 31:18got to get one Pete Rock joint on this new album. I think Pete
- 31:22Rock should have a lot of checks coming in the mail. They won't come
- 31:27in the mail, but you know what I mean soon, because that is
- 31:32the standout for me. Now when it comes to Common, if you felt
- 31:36like yo, I ain't like the Common album since whatever years ago, more
- 31:41than ten years ago, I would say there's been good album since then.
- 31:45They're not bad, but lyrically, I feel like Common is in the pocket
- 31:52as he should be. I think there's some records where the beat just out
- 31:57Sean's Common, like you could have literally put anybody in there because that beat
- 32:01is so hot, and he didn't really do much beyond what we expect from
- 32:07him to stand out. Like. I don't want to take anything away from
- 32:12the album, but for me, it felt like Pete Rod knew The Spotlight
- 32:16was going to be there, so he showed out. He popped out and
- 32:21showed all right. Common raised himself a little bit more closer to what he
- 32:30used to be, but he didn't surpass my expectations, or he didn't feel
- 32:37the way I felt like with Nas and Hip Boy, where I felt like
- 32:40Nas is rejuvenated. I feel like Common is rejuvenated to an extent, but
- 32:45it doesn't it doesn't come out as much lyrically. Some songs he's crazy with
- 32:52it. Other songs it's kind of like, I feel like there are words
- 32:58that Common just says the time, where now they just sound meaningless from the
- 33:02soul like how many times you're gonna say soul man Like? Not that what
- 33:07he said wasn't powerful, meaningful, It's just that you kind of you've been
- 33:14listening to this guy for so long that you just have a certain level of
- 33:17expectations for a second. Again, none of this is bad, It's just
- 33:23an observation of it. So I would say, if you like Common,
- 33:30you long for the years of when Common was straight up boom back. Dude,
- 33:35this is your time to hop in fan, because this is the album
- 33:37you've been waiting for. If you didn't even know Pete Rock was making beats
- 33:43like this because you hadn't heard of Pete Rock beat since the mid nineties.
- 33:49Well you're welcome, because now you need to go check pe rock other material
- 33:54because pe Rock variety beats skill like this is no shade. But DJ Premier
- 34:05has kind of got to a case where he has a certain sound and that's
- 34:08the only sound he can do for you today, and it's going to be
- 34:12every record that sounds that way. For the most part. I know Prime
- 34:15was a little bit different, but I didn't feel like that was the best
- 34:21of Premier's beats. Pete Rock make beats now that make me wonder some of
- 34:28these new beats rival old beats, old classic beats he made like it's that
- 34:31good. So there you have it. Two dope hip hop albums, very
- 34:37different, different listings that you know, if you're interested, I suggest you
- 34:43check out. They will definitely be in my top of the year hands down.
- 34:46There. That impressive to me on different levels. So have you heard
