- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here and one phrase that you hear a lot these
- 0:43days and I didn't really hear when I.
- 0:45First became a therapist. Is imposter syndrome, and
- 0:49imposter syndrome is where you feel like you don't quite
- 0:52belong, that you're going to get found out, that you're not
- 0:56really meant to be where you are.
- 0:58And there's some truth to that, in the sense that whenever
- 1:00you're learning something new. You don't know.
- 1:03And you're not really meant to be there.
- 1:05But it's all about intention and integrity.
- 1:08A charlatan is someone that pretends to know more than they
- 1:12do and selling under false pretenses whereas.
- 1:16Someone that is. Dedicated to getting good.
- 1:18Understands that in order to be good at anything you need to be
- 1:22not good to begin with and in martial arts they call it a
- 1:26white belt mentality. This idea that you start at the
- 1:29beginning, but you learn and you improve and you get better and
- 1:32better. And I was working with a.
- 1:34Client that. Was doing some of the things
- 1:37that I do. They were a coach and they were
- 1:40helping people in a particular area and they were using some of
- 1:45the forms of online marketing that I use, things like.
- 1:49Webinars and funnels. And producing content and that
- 1:53could be really daunting if you've never done that kind of
- 1:55stuff before. So this encourages them to
- 1:59embrace the beginners mentality that actually even though
- 2:03they're very knowledgeable in their particular niche, all
- 2:06these other marketing related. Stuffs are also.
- 2:08Skills, because unfortunately it's not always the most
- 2:12talented in a particular area that does the best.
- 2:16You need both talent and the ability, particularly in
- 2:19business, to find customers. So the marketing is as important
- 2:25as the technical skill. I consider myself a good
- 2:29hypnotherapist because I've worked with thousands of
- 2:31clients, but I also spend time learning about content
- 2:34generation and SEO and funnels and all of these things that can
- 2:40be useful to grow a business. Now, these things are quite
- 2:44useful and this particular client wanted to have a thriving
- 2:48business. So if you can connect to the
- 2:50idea of either feeling like an imposter or feeling like in
- 2:54order to be successful in the area that you want to be
- 2:56successful, you've got to learn other skills to complement your
- 2:59core skills, this could be a very useful session for you.
- 3:03Now it was created for an individual, therefore some of
- 3:07the references might be very, very suitable for them and not
- 3:10quite right for you. So if you like the idea of
- 3:13working with me, there is a suitability test that I have
- 3:16that you can find by clicking in the description.
- 3:20And I also have a webinar where a lot of the questions that
- 3:22people normally ask me before they work with me, things like
- 3:26can I be hypnotized? Does it work for these kind of
- 3:29areas? These are all covered in that
- 3:32webinar, and there's some very special bonuses at the end as
- 3:35well. For now though, I'd encourage
- 3:37you to find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be
- 3:40distracted or disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:06Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 4:15wonderful feeling of calm relaxation and as you exhale,
- 4:24feel a wonderful feeling of release, as if any pent up
- 4:29tension, stress, worries, any emotions that are just slowing
- 4:36you down, give permission to let go, to allow them to leave your
- 4:44body in your outward breath. Breathing in relaxation,
- 4:51exhaling tension. Each breath facilitates deeper
- 5:01and deeper levels of calm, tranquility, and relaxation.
- 5:13As your body relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 5:19And I want you to imagine seeing the ocean, calm ocean, on a
- 5:28sunny day, and just imagine a rainbow there over the ocean.
- 5:39And yet, surprisingly, no rain. It doesn't quite make sense, and
- 5:45yet it does. And as you look at the surface
- 5:50of the waves, they start to represent the chatter of your
- 5:57mind. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:00relaxed you feel, and the waves calm even more, until they
- 6:07become perfectly still, like a sheet of glass there in the
- 6:15ocean. And I wonder if you could
- 6:19imagine what it would be like as you wade into the water to see
- 6:28legs turning into a large fin. Imagine what it would feel like
- 6:36to be a mermaid, able to breathe underwater and to find the peace
- 6:45and tranquility beneath the waves.
- 6:52I want you to imagine swimming, perhaps to a reef, and just
- 7:01imagine You can find a place of calm, tranquility, and you can
- 7:09breathe underwater just as you would on land.
- 7:18Breathing and relaxation, exhaling tension.
- 7:21Each breath takes you deeper than the last.
- 7:32And here, in this place, in your imagination, you don't need to
- 7:39do anything. No need to think, no need to
- 7:47solve a problem. When you turn your attention
- 7:54inward, the world outside becomes less relevant and the
- 8:01world inside becomes way more interesting.
- 8:08Any thoughts that pop up, you don't need to manage them or
- 8:12analyse them or find A use for them, because your unconscious
- 8:18mind is already working on your behalf.
- 8:23It has been perhaps for longer than you realize.
- 8:35Even underwater, you can imagine the rise and fall of your
- 8:39breath, how the body knows things without needing to be
- 8:46reminded. You can't make your heartbeat.
- 8:53You can't decide to stop breathing.
- 8:57Your body knows what needs to happen for you to survive, and
- 9:05there is a part within you, the part that holds all the pattern
- 9:11making and learning and deep knowing that also operates the
- 9:17same way to keep you safe, acting in your genuine interest.
- 9:31I want you to imagine seeing a place deep within.
- 9:47Imagine a place under the ocean, perhaps a trench, A deeper level
- 9:57of the ocean. And as I countdown from 12:50,
- 10:09just imagine what it would be like to swim deeper down 10/9.
- 10:29Each level down, you release something that isn't yours to
- 10:34carry. 876 Any chatter of that inner critic becoming fainter
- 10:46five and four, the body feeling more at ease, more relaxed, more
- 10:54natural. 321 And just imagine there's somewhere safe there at
- 11:03the bottom of the ocean. And I want you to imagine,
- 11:11imagine a room at the bottom of the ocean, a room of genuine
- 11:20knowing where the evidence is all around you.
- 11:28And your unconscious can begin now to take it in, because
- 11:37there's a voice and you know the voice that speaks at particular
- 11:44moments, usually just before something important, usually
- 11:53when something matters. And maybe it says, who do you
- 12:00think you are? What if they find out you don't
- 12:08know what you're doing? What if I fall flat on my face?
- 12:17What if it goes wrong and everyone sees?
- 12:24But what if there's a truth to the intent?
- 12:33This is just information. It's evidence of your integrity,
- 12:40proof that you actually care for you.
- 12:45It matters. It matters to help.
- 12:52Your credibility matters. Competency matters.
- 13:00That feeling of being an impostor.
- 13:04You don't get it in the charlatans, the Cowboys, the con
- 13:13men. It exists in the people actually
- 13:19trying to help those frauds and charlatans, the people who
- 13:27genuinely don't know what they're doing.
- 13:31They almost never experience that impostor syndrome because
- 13:38you need a certain level of genuine depth to even recognise
- 13:45the gap between where you are and where you would like to be.
- 13:53It's not evidence of inadequacy. It's evidence of integrity, the
- 14:01signal of someone who takes their work seriously enough to
- 14:06feel the gravitas, the weight of it.
- 14:10And that is precisely the quality your clients want in
- 14:18you. Consider the clients you serve
- 14:25and will serve. They're not looking for someone
- 14:29perfect. They're looking for someone
- 14:33real, someone who has navigated difficulty and emerged with
- 14:41something worth offering. Someone who understands from the
- 14:47inside what it really means to rebuild, especially a sense of
- 14:55self after losing something. And you do not need to be at the
- 15:04end of your journey to be qualified to help someone who is
- 15:10earlier in theirs. A guy doesn't need to have
- 15:19climbed every mountain. They need to know this mountain
- 15:27and to care about the person beside them.
- 15:36I want you to imagine seeing a picture in that room at the
- 15:42bottom of the ocean. A picture of a martial arts
- 15:47studio, Clean, spare, purposeful.
- 15:54And I want you to imagine a new student stepping onto the mat
- 15:58for the very first time, and they are wearing a white belt.
- 16:06And the white belt means something important.
- 16:11It means that they are there, that they have started, that
- 16:19they do not yet know what they are doing.
- 16:23And that's exactly as it should be.
- 16:28No one in the Dojo, in the studio, looks at the white belt
- 16:34with contempt. The master, the sensei, does not
- 16:40shake their head in disappointment, and the other
- 16:44students do not judge. Because every single black belt
- 16:50in that room began exactly where this person is standing now, on
- 16:58their first day. Uncertain, uncoordinated, fully
- 17:04a beginner. And the path from white belt to
- 17:11black belt is not a secret. It's not available only to the
- 17:18naturally gifted. It's available to anyone willing
- 17:23to do 1 specific thing, to stick with it, to stay on the mat,
- 17:34return after the falls, to practice the thing that feels
- 17:40clumsy until it becomes fluent, and then practice it further
- 17:46until it becomes instinctive. And whether it's a martial art
- 17:56or learning to dance, or learning to launch a webinar and
- 18:01build a funnel, it's all the same.
- 18:08You start where you are and you get better.
- 18:18And whether it's that early webinar, a landing page, a video
- 18:29shared on social media, it all feels uncertain, uncomfortable,
- 18:38scary because it's outside of the comfort zone.
- 18:47All of it is uncomfortable for the beginner.
- 18:52It's all white belt work. And white belt work is not a
- 18:57problem to be solved. It's a stage to be honoured, the
- 19:05necessary and irreplaceable foundation of everything that
- 19:09follows. Being bad at this now is not a
- 19:15failure. It's the ticket of entry to
- 19:22becoming exceptional. And if you're willing to pay the
- 19:27price for that ticket, let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:35And you've done this before. Whether it's learning how to
- 19:40edit audio, whether it's complicated choreography,
- 19:49whether it's starting again after everything changed.
- 19:57Everything was unfamiliar until it wasn't.
- 20:02Certain things felt overwhelming and then felt well within grasp
- 20:13time after time in your past, even when it would have been
- 20:19easier to give up and walk away, you didn't.
- 20:26You've already proven that you can persist.
- 20:32Your unconscious mind can take this evidence, file it
- 20:36carefully, and apply it forward to everything that currently
- 20:42feels technically daunting. And I want you to imagine
- 20:50floating forwards to the future. I want you to imagine your 17th
- 20:58webinar, your 50th social media video, your 33rd landing page,
- 21:09your 10 thousandth lead, your 60th lead magnet.
- 21:20You will know more than than you know now, But all of that would
- 21:25be impossible if you don't persist and continue to learn to
- 21:36do what needs to be done, especially if it feels
- 21:42difficult, daunting, complex future.
- 21:50You will look back at you now with a sense of pride.
- 21:57You did the difficult things and got better and better.
- 22:06That future version of you will see someone with courage, the
- 22:10courage to show up before you are ready.
- 22:15And that courage is the thing that every future client will
- 22:18benefit from, even if they never really realize where it came
- 22:25from. Imagine being back in the room,
- 22:30no longer looking at that picture of the martial arts
- 22:34studio. But I want you to see a door
- 22:40that you never saw before in that room at the bottom of the
- 22:43ocean. And as you enter the door and
- 22:49close the door, the door is now locked.
- 22:53You don't feel scared, it just occurs to you.
- 22:58You are in an escape room. A room full of puzzles and locks
- 23:07and clues and mechanisms, codes, interlocking, linking, all
- 23:14designed so that solving 1 reveals the key to the next.
- 23:24And here's the interesting thing about escape rooms.
- 23:29The people who walk in expecting everything to be simple
- 23:34immediately become frustrated, because the frustration itself
- 23:42is the signal they found something worth solving.
- 23:48But some people walk into an escape room with a particular
- 23:52mindset. They look at complexity with
- 23:57something closer to curiosity than intimidation, who can hold
- 24:04several unsolved elements simultaneously without
- 24:07collapsing, who can follow a thread even when they don't know
- 24:16where it leads. And those people find the escape
- 24:21room stimulating, challenging, exhilarating.
- 24:30And that technical landscape of building that online business,
- 24:35the webinar platform, e-mail automations, landing pages, even
- 24:41a strategy for LinkedIn and social media.
- 24:46Whether you build an audience organically or paying for
- 24:50adverts, all of it is an escape room and all of it is solvable,
- 25:00one puzzle at a time. And you don't need to see the
- 25:08whole solution from just one perspective.
- 25:16No one who has ever solved an escape room did so by standing
- 25:22at the entrance until they could see every step.
- 25:29They solved the first clue, the first problem, and then they
- 25:35looked for the next clue, and then the next.
- 25:40And the first time in that escape room may take minutes or
- 25:46even an hour to escape. But if you found yourself in the
- 25:51exact same escape room with the exact same puzzles, you would be
- 25:59out of the escape room in a couple of minutes.
- 26:04Because that's how they work. Once you know what to do,
- 26:10something challenging or impossible becomes easy.
- 26:17You do not need to understand the whole system before you
- 26:20begin. You simply need to find the next
- 26:25clue, just the next one. And if you sit down at a
- 26:34computer and the interface is unfamiliar, or if the automation
- 26:39doesn't work as expected, or if there's some tech that has a new
- 26:45layer of complexity you hadn't anticipated, your mind can now
- 26:51move toward these moments with a spirit of curiosity and
- 26:57fascination. It's like an interesting puzzle.
- 27:03How do I solve this? And by solving this, I solve all
- 27:09future problems like it. And that feeling, It used to be
- 27:15called overwhelm, intimidation, fear.
- 27:22But what if you recognise it for what it really is?
- 27:25A particular aliveness of a mind engaging with something that
- 27:30matters. A problem that is not yet
- 27:34solved, but something that, when solved, will be genuinely yours
- 27:44because you worked it out. And every puzzle you solve makes
- 27:51the next one easier. Not because the puzzles get
- 27:55simpler, but because you become someone who solves puzzles.
- 28:03That skill, that identity, once established fully in the nervous
- 28:08system, becomes self fulfilling. You end up seeking out complex
- 28:15problems because it feels good to solve them.
- 28:21And by doing so, you're building a Moat around your business.
- 28:27Because the more difficult it is to create your business, then
- 28:32the more difficult it will be for anyone else to do what
- 28:37you're doing in the way that you're doing it.
- 28:44And I want you to imagine. Imagine that your unconscious
- 28:51can hold a picture, a vision of your future, an image that makes
- 29:00all the technical complexity worth navigating.
- 29:06Because somewhere in the world right now, there is a person
- 29:12sitting with a specific kind of pain that comes from a
- 29:16relationship ending. Not just the sadness, but maybe
- 29:24disorientation, loss of identity, anxiety, uncertainty.
- 29:30The question of who are they now?
- 29:34Or maybe they're online searching.
- 29:39Maybe they're looking for conversations with friends who
- 29:43want to help but don't quite understand the depth of it.
- 29:48They are motivated, they want help, and they're looking for
- 29:53someone who seems to really know this terrain.
- 30:00And the one thing standing between that person finding you
- 30:07is will they find you when they start looking?
- 30:14Maybe there's a a post on social media you haven't written yet, a
- 30:22webinar that doesn't exist yet, an e-mail sequence that isn't
- 30:27quite finished yet, all because there's a platform that feels
- 30:35slightly too technical right now.
- 30:40Not forever, but just right now. And right now is a problem with
- 30:47a solution, because every technical skill you build is a
- 30:55door that you open for someone who needs to find you.
- 31:01Your discomfort now is their access later.
- 31:09And think how elegant the model is.
- 31:14Someone discovers you, connects with you, and then you help
- 31:21them, perhaps for free. A piece of value that gives
- 31:27before it asks, that demonstrates your credentials,
- 31:32your value. And then, when they feel
- 31:39confident and comfortable with you, you make it easy for them
- 31:44to work with you. Maybe you coach them, or maybe
- 31:53it's a digital representation of you, a recording, a course.
- 32:02And with each person transformed, the story spreads,
- 32:07a community builds, and the ripple widens.
- 32:16And the world on the other side of this temporary technical
- 32:20discomfort is 1, Where you are doing the work you were built to
- 32:25do, reaching people around the world free of a fear of
- 32:36judgement or shame because it was a price worth paying.
- 32:44It's time to leave this room, taking these wonderful changes
- 32:49and new thoughts and ideas with you.
- 32:52You swim out of the room, rise to the surface, find yourself
- 32:57back on the shore, looking down at your feet and your legs and
- 33:01feeling a wonderful sensation of possibility.
- 33:07So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 33:13nose and wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes, connecting and
- 33:19calibrating into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00
- 33:23to 10:00 to awaken you. 123 Waking up. 456 More alert. 7-8
- 33:33open your eyes. Open your eyes. 910 wide awake,
- 33:38wide awake, wide awake, thank. You so much for joining me.
