- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wind with Brendan Stacy.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: We're back with another episode, and we have a new family member here at the house.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: His name is Rocky.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: He is a nine-year-old, seven-pound, long-haired chihuahua.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: And I know, I know, I know.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Chihuahuas have a bad rap.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: If somebody would have told me at any point in my life I was gonna ever have a chihuahua, I would have called you a damn liar.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: Because they do have such a bad rap of being yappy little ankle biters and you know, all the crazies that chihuahuas have.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I really haven't seen the crazy in this one.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I think his past, obviously, everybody's past has to do with how you turn out today and who you are today.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: You're right.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: So I don't think his past was the best as far as like a family atmosphere.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I think he was a second thought or afterthought for the family that he came from.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I know you and I don't understand that because our animals become family.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: They are family.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Even when our kids were little and they were in everything and they were crazy about all the things they did.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Our animals were still very much a part of every day for us and the kids.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Um, so I don't think Roggie's had that kind of lifestyle.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: He's slowly but surely becoming very adapted to his new lifestyle, which is 100% laid back.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: He gets all the loves and all the hugs and all the pets and all the things that he will let us give him.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Rightfully so, he deserves them.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: He deserves to be loved like every other animal in the world.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: I wish I could just love them all, but for some reason this one ended up in our lives.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: When animals end up in your lives unexpectedly or not planned, maybe.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: It wasn't like we were gonna go shop for a dog.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: We were in that mindset of we were ready to invite another animal into our hearts and into our home.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: But even then, I was struggling.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: I was still mourning Boo, and I thought, oh, I don't want Boo to think I'm ever gonna replace him.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: And rationally, you know that that's never what you're gonna do, but still it's it's an emotional thing.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: There's still guilt.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there is.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: There's still like it's weird, but it's true.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: I believe animals are family.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: I think people try to remind you they're a dog and they're not human.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Well, I a hundred percent understand he's a dog and he's not human, but but they're not disposable.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: They're soul.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, he has a soul, he has a personality.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Every animal that I've ever had, no two have been alike, right?
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: No matter what breed they are, no two are alike.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: So he already has a Halloween costume.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I have more clothes for him on order because he is such a baby, and winter's coming and he's gonna be cold, and I don't expect that his fur will do all the things that a sweatshirt or a t-shirt or a hoodie would do.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Why do I foresee this dog having more clothes than I have in my closet in about a month?
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Eh, he might.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: He has more beds than you do.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, he does.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Yes, I have a bed in every room.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: Yes, he has a bed in every room, luxurious bed, not just like a any old dog bed.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: He has nice beds, nice blankets, and we were told that he didn't play with toys in his whole nine years of life, but he was gifted a little duck and a little what's that other thing?
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Like a dinosaur, some kind of squeaky toy.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: But anyway, they have become his babies.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: He loves them and has learned how to love them and he protects them and I know we're talking about you.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: He's in here looking at us now.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: He is slowly but surely becoming the sweetest, and I just can't imagine the family that he came from.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I was told that we were probably gonna hate him because everybody in that family hated him.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: It's not gonna happen here.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: He sleeps in your bedroom now.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not gonna happen here.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: He's been to the vet and gotten all the shots.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: It is funny.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Do we want to bring up his teeth?
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Well, I think it's funny that we can't stop looking at it.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: I know we can't.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Every time I look like I'm fighting away, it's like, oh, I'm looking at him because he's so precious.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: So he is not going to the vet to get his teeth done.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: He's gotta go to a special doggy dentist because he has an infection, and they could have told me he had gout in his mouth, and I'd been like, okay.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean, what do I know?
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: He does have an infection, so we're gonna get that taken care of.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And they did promise, even though he's nine years old, that given that we are gonna take care of him through the vet and through the dentist and all the things that he would live a long, healthy, normal, doggy life.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Are we gonna get to post a video of he can he can be on video?
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: He can be, yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: He can be on video.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: I think he loves his picture taken.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: He posed even at the vet, you know how when they take their pictures so that they know that's the patient that they're treating.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: He that picture's adorable.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: Did he smile?
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Some dog smiled.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: He like turned his head to the side, like, oh, you ready?
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Like, now I'm good.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: So he gets that from me.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: I was like, do we like it?
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: But anyway, he looks so cute.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: He didn't pull the take another one.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: He no, I was like, oh my god, it's so perfect.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: He's our little new infatuation.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: I know you have a lot of changes going on.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: I do.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: I have so many changes going on in the world.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, so you have a lot of changes going on.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: You got the dog.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: The dog how's the work life going?
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Well, after five years, I've recently resigned from World Market.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: I'm happy.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, it's time for change.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's time for change.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: It's a relief.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: I feel good.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: I feel happy.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: I'm excited for what's gonna happen.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Well, good.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Figure it's already the middle of September, amazingly.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: So before we know it'll be the new year.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: So with all these other new things coming about, it'll be time for a whole new Stacy.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Whole new Stacy.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: I know, and I think every once in a while people need to shed their skin.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And they need a new is the revival the right word?
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Revision revival is um a good word.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: I feel like that's happening.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: All the things that are wonderful in my life are gonna stay the same.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: And all the things that weren't, I mean, it wasn't that things were horrible before, but they're just gonna get better and better.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you just have to remove the stress no matter what it is, and take a step back and reevaluate everything.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: I think the thing about retail is that it was killing my body.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: It was stressful mentally, but it was killing my body.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: And my body was like, that's enough of that for now.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: It's hard to slow down, and when you're used to being active and running around and getting things done quickly, and now I'm just like living the leisure life, loving my little Rocky.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: The timing's perfect because that gives him extra tension to adapt to the household.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Luckily, uh Jeff was off.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: He got to spend some time with them one-on-one while I was finishing up my last few days at work.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: It's amazing what a little love and patience can do for a dog who, when he first walked in our lives, he wanted to eat us.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: It felt like, you know, like he was not having anything to do with any of us.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And now look at him.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: We can't stop looking at him.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: I know, and now look at him.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: And now if we went over there to touch him, as long as he wasn't holding his baby, he would let us touch him and love on him.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: And you can tell how much a different dog he even snuggled up with you.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: I know, and I'm cold-hearted.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So he even went to snuggle with you today.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: So he might soften your heart.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Maybe a little.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: I was telling you, I I've never seen a dog this cute.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: I have to like tulip and turbo.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, of course, of course.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: You're your grandpuppies.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: There's something about him.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: He looks like a bat.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's what it is, those huge ears on him.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: He's not the typical ankle biter, yappy, chihuahua kind of personality.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Maybe he knows you've given him a second chance.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Maybe something in him knows that this is peace.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: There's peace.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: He gets to exhale.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Me and him were both doing the same thing.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: We're exhaling.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: We got this rock.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: He's looking the other direction.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: He's like, Well, I was doing fine till you two crazy bitches showed up today.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: He's like, look at you.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: That is so cool.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Are you glad that you took on a nine-year-old dog?
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad that we took on a nine-year-old dog.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: And I'm so glad that it's this dog.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: I know a lot of people wouldn't want elderly, I guess.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: Jerry Hatcher.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Senior.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: I think he's senior.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: And a senior dog.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: How could I say no to that face?
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: And he's your speed.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: I think he's your speed too.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: You have the same energy.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: We feisty when we need to, and calm as hell when oh no.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, here he comes.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Talking about the baby.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: He's like, I want to come, but I don't.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're gonna post some pictures and videos of him.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And um, we gotta post a super dog picture of him.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: In the super doggy.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, you're gonna do it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, that stands for super dog.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: I thought it was super dick.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: It's super doggy.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: It's a super doggy outfit.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I thought he had the big D on him.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: No.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: See, I'm seven pounds.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: How can I have a big D?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: You don't know.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: Well, I don't wanna know.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: He is okay out.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: He is precious.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: I know, and I'm so glad you got him the way you did.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: I'm all about spaying and neutering animals.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Well, we gotta be.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Rescue, rescue, rescue.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Yes, he hasn't been uh neutered, but teeth are first.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: That's the most important thing for him right now.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: And then So he's your expensive free dog.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: He's the most expensive free dog I've ever had so far.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: He is the most expensive free dog.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: But he's gonna be worth it.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna get his teeth fixed, and then we're gonna get his ball sack taken care of.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Have you been talking about it in front of him?
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Do you know what's gonna happen?
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: We we haven't told him.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: And we're not gonna tell him.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: In fact, I mean, in a nine-year-old dog, you would think, oh, do they need neutered?
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: It's funny because I didn't know this.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: They can have prostate problems and they can have testicular cancer.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: And it's basically at this point in time in his life is a preventative of those things.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: It's not always just because of an unwanted litter.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: It's you know for their health, too.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of other reasons.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I've never had a dog that wasn't neutered.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Every time we got a pet, first thing we did to the vet, get everything taken care of.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the minute they're old enough to be neutered, they were.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: He's got a lot of exciting things that he might turn out hating us for.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: Maybe not.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: I think the worst will be the cone.
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: The cones are gonna be the worst.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And in the neuter.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, have to wear a cone.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: But he loves to be groomed and take a bath.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: And I love giving him a bath.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I love dressing him in clothes.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: All the things that are him.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: And Jeff loves him too, so.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: I know that's a plus.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: What if he didn't?
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: Would you be like, well, too bad?
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: It would probably be like, well, I Jeff has this way with dogs, and he loves dogs.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: So I think he would be devastated if to have a dog in the house that didn't care for him.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Jeff is such a calm, peaceful soul.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: He is.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: That I think, especially as wound up as Rocky was when he came to us, now he's Rocky's kind of got Jeff's mentality of, oh, it's peaceful here.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And oh nobody's yelling and fighting and nobody's gonna drop me or Yeah, I think he loves it.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Not gonna get in trouble for you wanna sit on it, sit on it.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: You wanna be on it, be on it.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: You know, he doesn't have any boundaries.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: He's potty trained.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: That's a plus.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, definitely.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's a good boy.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: He's a good boy.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: He was overserved one time.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: And we know how that feels.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Yes, we do.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: We all learn from that.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: You can't overeat.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: No, you can't.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: You can.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: But when he first got here, he didn't eat initially.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: He was probably nervous.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Probably very nervous.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Yes, and then he was overserved.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Too much wet food.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: And then everybody unknowingly that was in the house were giving him treats.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: And then giving him cheese and pepperoni.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: And then we ordered pizza, and everybody gave him a bite of pizza.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: So that was a bad, bad, bad night.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: But it wasn't his fault.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: No.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: So he was overserved.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: He was overserved.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: It wasn't your fault.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: You were overserved.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: So now everybody knows if they overserve Rocky, they are the ones who are gonna get up in the middle of the night.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Take care of it.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Take care of it.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: He's looking at us like you bitches, every time you're act crazy, you're overserved.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Easy crazy boy.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Easy CV.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: He's looking at us like, what the fuck?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Now we have a mascot.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: No, he is a cute little mascot.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: He needs a let's wine t-shirt.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Ah.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Cindy, I know.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: So grinding, where's my let's wine shirt?
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: What do you think he wears?
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: About a three-month, six-month?
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Probably three-month at seven pounds.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Three month.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Newborn.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Newborn.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: He's so cute.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: He is cute.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Well, so that is so good.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: You've got new things going.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: A new dog to love on.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: A new life.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: You've put a job behind you, which is good.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: It gives you a new outlook on what you do.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: So I'm excited about the future.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: And Rocky will be in here many, many more times.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: I think he's trying to tell me it's uh potty time.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Potty time.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: It's funny how we talk to animals like we don't talk to each other like that.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: No, I don't care.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: You gotta go potty.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: I might go potty.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I might have to.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: He's thirsty.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: I'm thirsty.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: I'm so hungry.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: No what you need.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I gotta look at you, Late.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: What are you willing to be?
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Teefis and his little ball sack.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: And I know.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: What do you need?
