- 3:51Speaker 2: be just the thing somebody else needs either. Or you'll
- 3:55Speaker 2: find out what life has to say to you through
- 3:58Speaker 2: somebody you might know or you might have heard of.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Coming up you who Good morning.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly
- 4:07Speaker 2: in the Morning, Washington's variety of the eighties, nties and
- 4:11Speaker 2: today on this Thursday, the twelfth of August, and it
- 4:15Speaker 2: is time now for us to focus on you.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Actually, it's the thirteenth of August.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Wait a minute, is it? Why do I have it
- 4:22Speaker 4: as the twelfth?
- 4:22Speaker 3: Oh? Today's okay, it's still Thursday. You got that.
- 4:27Speaker 4: No, And I haven't had a sip of this coffee yet.
- 4:29Speaker 3: This is where we pause and share a quote to
- 4:31Speaker 3: get you into a good morning mindset.
- 4:33Speaker 2: At least it's not going to be a Friday the thirteenth.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Then that's a good thing, So Tina Fey says, and
- 4:40Speaker 2: keep this in mind today because it's important and it's inspiring.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Do your thing and don't care if they like it.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Do your thing and don't care if they like it. Now,
- 4:52Speaker 2: that might seem a little bit belligerent, and you're probably
- 4:54Speaker 2: going on, it's just Toby, me and Toby again saying,
- 4:58Speaker 2: you know, raise up, Come on now, we're gonna rise up.
- 5:01Speaker 4: No, it's not that.
- 5:03Speaker 2: This is what I think matters most about, Tina Fey
- 5:05Speaker 2: telling us to do your thing and to not care
- 5:08Speaker 2: if they like it. Not everything that you do in
- 5:12Speaker 2: life needs unanimous approval.
- 5:15Speaker 4: That's not authentic.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Sometimes authenticity, at least I think, means being okay even
- 5:22Speaker 2: when you're not everybody's cup of coffee or tea.
- 5:26Speaker 4: You know, so do your thing, don't care if they
- 5:29Speaker 4: like it.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Be you.
- 5:30Speaker 2: There's a reason you are where you are right now.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Tina Fey dropping a truth palm this morning, and that
- 5:37Speaker 2: is your morning mindset. Need it, you can find it
- 5:40Speaker 2: Toby and Chilipage WASHFM dot com get a hold of us,
- 5:42Speaker 2: will send it to your go look for it in
- 5:45Speaker 2: our instance stories and the like. All right, awesome, stay
- 5:49Speaker 2: with Toby and Chili in the morning. Now that you're
- 5:51Speaker 2: mentally recharged and thinking about Tina Fay and those words today,
- 5:55Speaker 2: stay here because coming up in a few.
- 5:58Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about how many people do or don't
- 6:00Speaker 3: actually read the instruction manual when they buy something new.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So are you one of these people that reads the
- 6:07Speaker 2: instruction manuals for something? When you get it, you take
- 6:09Speaker 2: it home. Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety
- 6:11Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM could be really anything, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: anything that you get tends to have directions an instruction manual,
- 6:20Speaker 2: and then there's the more involved stuff like you know,
- 6:22Speaker 2: say you buy furniture at ikea right that takes a
- 6:25Speaker 2: minute to build and you need to kind of follow
- 6:27Speaker 2: those instructions, or else you have Janki furniture that falls down.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, well, only fourteen percent of people, according to the
- 6:33Speaker 3: survey by you gov, read the entire instruction manual. Forty
- 6:38Speaker 3: three percent, which is majority in this particular survey, reads
- 6:41Speaker 3: some of the instruction manual for new appliances or devices
- 6:46Speaker 3: just generally speaking, Yeah, are you the type of person
- 6:49Speaker 3: that reads it cover to cover? Do you not look
- 6:52Speaker 3: at I mean, like, what is your way of approaching it.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Case by case basis?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Okay, if it's something that obviously makes you turn it
- 7:01Speaker 2: on and it does what it's supposed to do and
- 7:03Speaker 2: you turn it off after you've plugged it into power, okay.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Well, if it's all a required is plugging it in,
- 7:08Speaker 3: I see why you may not.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I don't need to go looking at the
- 7:11Speaker 2: instruction manual. But there are things like tech when I'll
- 7:14Speaker 2: glance at certain things. If it's stuff that I'm just
- 7:17Speaker 2: not good at, you know, which can be the ikea
- 7:20Speaker 2: furniture analogy. I just used that I have to read
- 7:23Speaker 2: the instruction manual for then I have to go back
- 7:25Speaker 2: over it. Then I need it with me because I'll
- 7:27Speaker 2: screw it up. What about you?
- 7:29Speaker 3: This may surprise you, but I will try to wing
- 7:33Speaker 3: it first, and then if I feel a little stumped,
- 7:36Speaker 3: only then will I look at an instruction manual. It's
- 7:40Speaker 3: this weirdest thing. I'm like, oh, you know, how hard
- 7:42Speaker 3: can it be? I feel like it should be intuitive.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Whenever I purchase something like this, goes here that goes there. Yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 3: it's always not the case.
- 7:50Speaker 2: But yeah, have you ever read the instruction manual for
- 7:53Speaker 2: your car?
- 7:54Speaker 3: I actually do, because I want to know what all
- 7:56Speaker 3: those buttons are for when I'm buying a car.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Exactly, that's exactly. That is the last manual I think
- 8:01Speaker 2: I read cover to cover.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Oh, I wouldn't say cover to cover, but sure, oh
- 8:05Speaker 3: I read a.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Cover to cover.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I had to know, and then I had to know
- 8:09Speaker 2: if there was something I was missing. But you know,
- 8:11Speaker 2: things like that teach you things. I guess that's why
- 8:14Speaker 2: they call them instruction manuals. Maybe you read the instruction manual,
- 8:17Speaker 2: maybe you don't. Where do you stand? Tap that talk
- 8:20Speaker 2: bag microphone and feel free to tell us your thoughts.
- 8:22Speaker 2: We're always listening. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM with

- 8:31Speaker 3: household budgets. I'm going to tell you what Americans are
- 8:35Speaker 3: cutting back on to make ends meet.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I don't know if your kid has met their teachers
- 8:41Speaker 2: yet or not, but there's got to be a teacher
- 8:44Speaker 2: in your life or your kid's life. They could use
- 8:47Speaker 2: five thousand dollars for the classroom.
- 8:49Speaker 3: We've got our thank a teacher powered by donors. Choose
- 8:53Speaker 3: right now and if you want to nominate a local
- 8:55Speaker 3: public school teacher for that money, just go to WASHFM

- 9:40Speaker 3: twenty eight year old's going to be staying on as
- 9:42Speaker 3: one of its top outside advisors as she now focuses
- 9:45Speaker 3: on her two young children. A man who's pardoned for
- 9:49Speaker 3: January sixth has been found guilty of touching women's hair
- 9:53Speaker 3: on the metro while filming himself doing it. And then
- 9:56Speaker 3: posting it online. A judge called the videos a creepy
- 10:00Speaker 3: thing to do, and Brian the Tanker is going to
- 10:02Speaker 3: be sentenced later today. Fairfax County's Virginia Task Force one
- 10:07Speaker 3: has been deployed. A ten person team has gone to
- 10:11Speaker 3: Columbia after Monday's earthquake. There a specialists for helping assess
- 10:15Speaker 3: structural damage and also coordinate the response in the hardest
- 10:19Speaker 3: hit areas near Bogata. A stretch of Wisconsin Avenue in
- 10:24Speaker 3: Tenleytown yesterday was shut down for two hours during the
- 10:29Speaker 3: morning rush hour after a suspicious item was found near
- 10:32Speaker 3: a firehouse there. While it turned out to be an
- 10:35Speaker 3: adult toy in a trash can. Arlington County is adding
- 10:40Speaker 3: more speed cameras in school zones after issuing more than
- 10:43Speaker 3: fifty six thousand warnings and tickets there last year. Remember
- 10:48Speaker 3: when those school zone lights are flashing. The limit for
- 10:51Speaker 3: the speed drops to twenty miles an hour. And with
- 10:54Speaker 3: prices squeezing budgets, more Americans are cutting their recurring costs,
- 10:59Speaker 3: starting with subscriptions. New research shows at more than half
- 11:03Speaker 3: of consumers have canceled at least one subscription in the
- 11:06Speaker 3: past six months, with fitness memberships, streaming and premium credit cards,
- 11:11Speaker 3: topping the list. Forecast for today partly Sunny Skies hides
- 11:15Speaker 3: around ninety right now seventy four in Manessas.
- 11:18Speaker 2: And that is the news top stories at the top
- 11:21Speaker 2: of the hour at ninety seven point one wash CHEFM
- 11:23Speaker 2: or Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Have you ever received a.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Sign from beyond someone that you used to love. They
- 11:32Speaker 2: may no longer be with us on this earthly plane,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but nonetheless they've spoken to you.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Has this happened? Happened to somebody on the show?
- 11:43Speaker 2: Find out more in just off you Did you ever
- 11:48Speaker 2: get a sign from someone who's gone on to the
- 11:51Speaker 2: other side? Hi, ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. We're
- 11:54Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. Seriously, though, did you
- 11:56Speaker 2: get a sign from someone that was in your life
- 11:58Speaker 2: that is no longer.
- 11:59Speaker 4: With us, it's passed away. Has this happened to you?
- 12:02Speaker 4: It's happened to so many people.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And Chili you say you had this almost supernatural experience.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Well, it's just odd because I don't really feel my
- 12:11Speaker 3: mom's presence like some people say, Oh I feel my
- 12:14Speaker 3: mom or my dad or whomever has passed away. My
- 12:16Speaker 3: mother died back in two thousand and nine. I occasionally
- 12:20Speaker 3: will have a dream about her. Of course I think
- 12:22Speaker 3: about her. But the other day, when I was driving,
- 12:25Speaker 3: I noticed a dragonfly. And I don't see dragonflies, Okay,
- 12:30Speaker 3: I personally don't see dragonflies very often. I think it's
- 12:33Speaker 3: been years since I've seen one. And it was fluttering
- 12:36Speaker 3: around as I was going, I mean over thirty miles
- 12:38Speaker 3: an hour, so it wasn't leaving the car. It kept
- 12:41Speaker 3: bouncing off the windshield outside the car, and I thought,
- 12:44Speaker 3: what is this dragonfly doing? Then I would say about
- 12:49Speaker 3: fifteen minutes later, miles later, I parked my car to
- 12:54Speaker 3: jump in and get something from Walgreens and lo and behold.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I don't know if it was the same on, which
- 13:00Speaker 3: would be crazy if it was, But yet another dragonfly
- 13:05Speaker 3: came and like right to my car after I parked
- 13:07Speaker 3: it and was just hanging out, and.
- 13:10Speaker 4: I thought, what is going on?
- 13:12Speaker 3: And when I looked it up on my phone, there's
- 13:15Speaker 3: a spiritual I mean symbolism that it's a loved one
- 13:19Speaker 3: who's past, who's kind of visiting and saying.
- 13:22Speaker 4: That they're with you, Yeah, I'm still with you.
- 13:23Speaker 2: That's one of the common ones, and then also that
- 13:26Speaker 2: there's some healing and renewal going on. Plus there's clarity,
- 13:30Speaker 2: and it's also a sign that Dragonfly, the change is coming.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Interesting stuff. I've often said that I believe in the
- 13:35Speaker 2: sanctity of dreams, to paraphrase the band Live from the nineties,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and it's true. Like literally, just last night, I had
- 13:42Speaker 2: a dream about my grandmother and I was making something
- 13:45Speaker 2: in the kitchen and I got in trouble for making it.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Not really in trouble, but I got that Grandma in trouble,
- 13:51Speaker 2: you know what I.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Mean for for signs that are around when I'm actually awake,
- 13:56Speaker 3: because I find that to be more comforting, and I
- 14:00Speaker 3: find that to be comforting. I was like, oh, you
- 14:02Speaker 3: know what, maybe this is mom kind of just hanging
- 14:05Speaker 3: out or saying hey, I'm with you. But I know
- 14:08Speaker 3: that you and I are not the only ones who've
- 14:10Speaker 3: gotten signs from someone who's passed on.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Call us, tell us about your experiences at eighty six, six,
- 14:16Speaker 2: nine two, seven, forty three sixty one right now, did
- 14:20Speaker 2: you get a sign that's someone from your life that
- 14:24Speaker 2: has gone on to the next plane of this life,
- 14:28Speaker 2: who's passed away was still with you eight six six,
- 14:30Speaker 2: ninet two seven forty three sixty one is the number.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Jump into the conversation with Toby and Chilly in the
- 14:35Speaker 2: Morning in ninety seven point one Wash FM. Just to
- 14:37Speaker 2: recap a few minutes ago.
- 14:38Speaker 3: I said, I saw a dragonfly that literally followed my
- 14:42Speaker 3: car for over ten miles, and I believe that it
- 14:45Speaker 3: was my mom telling me that she's with me. She
- 14:48Speaker 3: passed away back in two thousand and nine. And who
- 14:51Speaker 3: doesn't love a sign from a loved one?
- 14:53Speaker 4: That's right.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And I think that they come at the time when
- 14:56Speaker 2: you least expect them, you know, in a way that
- 14:58Speaker 2: you're not always looking for.
- 15:00Speaker 4: That's why they're so powerful.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And you say you would agree, Carlos, you had a
- 15:04Speaker 2: sign from beyond what happened?
- 15:06Speaker 7: I swear I smelled my friend's favorite cologne just out
- 15:09Speaker 7: of nowhere, even though no one else noticed it.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Oooh, what did you do?
- 15:13Speaker 7: It completely stopped me in my tracks, and for whatever reason,
- 15:17Speaker 7: it just made me think about them for the rest
- 15:19Speaker 7: of the day.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Thanks for the colin Rockville. There, Carlos, have had that
- 15:23Speaker 2: happen here at the office. I've just vaguely smelled someone
- 15:27Speaker 2: who's no longer with us, and then I would just
- 15:29Speaker 2: think about the guy for a minute, and it just
- 15:31Speaker 2: it just happens at the most random times.
- 15:33Speaker 4: But fail you. Amber Stafford, good morning, your sign? What
- 15:37Speaker 4: happened after.
- 15:38Speaker 6: My grandmother passed?
- 15:39Speaker 8: I was having a really rough day and I asked
- 15:42Speaker 8: her out loud for a sign?
- 15:44Speaker 4: Okay, and did she give you one? What night?
- 15:47Speaker 8: Her favorite song just randomly came on the radio. I
- 15:51Speaker 8: know it could have been a coincidence.
- 15:53Speaker 3: After visiting my mom at the cemetery, as soon as
- 15:56Speaker 3: I got in the car, her favorite song came on
- 15:58Speaker 3: the radio. So I feel like the same thing happened
- 16:00Speaker 3: with me too, Amber.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Are you sure you were just listening to Delilah?
- 16:04Speaker 8: I would like to think of it as her saying
- 16:06Speaker 8: I'm still here and.
- 16:08Speaker 2: She is, because, as has been said, no one's ever
- 16:11Speaker 2: really gone as long as we remember them. It is
- 16:14Speaker 2: ninety seven point one wash FM on the way top
- 16:17Speaker 2: stories at the top of the hour, Chili, what can
- 16:19Speaker 2: we expect?
- 16:21Speaker 3: A new survey highlights just how far some parents will
- 16:24Speaker 3: go to pay for their kids' school supplies. I've got
- 16:28Speaker 3: all the details in just a few.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It's your chance to shower the people you love with
- 16:34Speaker 2: love if you go see James Taylor a Wolf Trap.
- 16:36Speaker 2: September second, Toby and Chilly in the Morning, it's ninety
- 16:39Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM, got tickets for you.

- 16:47Speaker 3: coming up right around seven to ten after Toby and
