- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's the almost Famous podcast. We have some special breaking news.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Do Do Do Do Do?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Do?
- 0:10Speaker 4: Do?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Do?
- 0:10Speaker 4: Do?
- 0:10Speaker 3: Do You know how they do that?
- 0:12Speaker 2: It's a breaking news in Bachelor Nation, and we're here
- 0:15Speaker 2: to talk about it because we promise you to be
- 0:17Speaker 2: as quick and to as accessible as possible. The first
- 0:20Speaker 2: breaking news that we need to talk about today is
- 0:23Speaker 2: we have a new bachelor that's been announced at a
- 0:25Speaker 2: random time without a lot of publicity around it. I
- 0:29Speaker 2: think it's a great choice, but we're going to talk
- 0:31Speaker 2: about it today because it just came out of nowhere.
- 0:34Speaker 2: There was no warning, there was no like, it was
- 0:37Speaker 2: just all of a sudden, Ashley, Our new Bachelor, Grant Ellis,
- 0:42Speaker 2: was announced after the episode last night.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Why would they do it like this?
- 0:48Speaker 4: Well, according to Rob Mills, you know, the big guy
- 0:53Speaker 4: over at ABC's reality division. He's saying that they announced
- 0:58Speaker 4: so early so that girls can still apply to be
- 1:01Speaker 4: on Grant season. Because normally by the time that the
- 1:04Speaker 4: Bachelor's announced, the whole cast has been chosen. There might
- 1:09Speaker 4: be a.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Few that slipped through the gates.
- 1:13Speaker 4: But maybe they're going to really cast around him, which
- 1:15Speaker 4: is a great idea and one that we really kind
- 1:19Speaker 4: of pushed for for a while because then you'll find
- 1:23Speaker 4: perhaps better compatibility.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It's true.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Okay, So, in all transparency, you you and I watched
- 1:31Speaker 2: the screener, so we don't watch it on broadcast television.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Do you know how they announced Was it during the episode?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Was it right afterwards? Like how did this all go down?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:41Speaker 4: No, it was on social media.
- 1:43Speaker 3: They didn't even do an interview. They didn't have good
- 1:46Speaker 3: any live footage at all.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I was reading some of the spoiler accounts and they
- 1:54Speaker 4: were saying that there was no plan to have any
- 1:58Speaker 4: live segments, so they were assuming that it was going
- 2:00Speaker 4: to be on internet announcement. It's also weird that he
- 2:04Speaker 4: wouldn't be on Good Morning America for the announcement during
- 2:07Speaker 4: the morning, and instead they did it right after his
- 2:11Speaker 4: elimination from the show.
- 2:13Speaker 2: This just feels like a non event, and it should
- 2:17Speaker 2: be a massive event, like the announcement of a leader
- 2:21Speaker 2: should be like the thing. It should bring people together.
- 2:25Speaker 2: They should all be talking about it. Maybe I'm wrong.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I would assume some of our listeners right now feel
- 2:30Speaker 2: like we're spoiling something for them, Like they're seeing this
- 2:33Speaker 2: come through and they're like, I had no idea that
- 2:35Speaker 2: Grant was announced as the bachelor.
- 2:36Speaker 4: He thinks. I feel like, if you're on social media
- 2:38Speaker 4: and you watch The Bachelor, it probably comes up with
- 2:41Speaker 4: your algorithm. But it's certainly the least celebrated announcement of
- 2:47Speaker 4: a bachelor in a very long time. Is it is
- 2:49Speaker 4: bizarre to me? I don't one percent believe Rob Mills's reasoning.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I would say that it could be part of it,
- 2:58Speaker 4: but there's there's got to be and I think it's
- 3:01Speaker 4: I think it is bizarre.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you a little bit about our
- 3:04Speaker 2: newest bachelor, just in case you don't know that he
- 3:07Speaker 2: is your bachelor, and he is. Grant Ellis is thirty
- 3:10Speaker 2: years old. His charm and good looks were definitely something
- 3:13Speaker 2: that Jen Tran was is into. He had a lot
- 3:16Speaker 2: of charm, a lot of good looks. At from Ashley
- 3:19Speaker 2: and I's perspective, he's a great choice. I think initially
- 3:21Speaker 2: in the season he almost felt like a sam where
- 3:24Speaker 2: he was saying the right thing too much. But then
- 3:26Speaker 2: that stopped. It did, and we started to get to
- 3:29Speaker 2: know him better. He is a self admitted Mama's Boy again.
- 3:33Speaker 2: He is a former professional basketball player who is now
- 3:36Speaker 2: a day trader, and this is what he says about himself.
- 3:42Speaker 2: When he's not immersed in the fast paced world of finance,
- 3:46Speaker 2: you can find him cheering on the Lakers, hitting strikes
- 3:50Speaker 2: at the bowling alley, or belting out tunes at karaoke nights.
- 3:54Speaker 2: ABC is obviously very excited about this choice. He will
- 3:58Speaker 2: be the second black Bats of all time. He is
- 4:03Speaker 2: also somebody that I think Bachelor Nation will really rally behind,
- 4:08Speaker 2: because I do believe for as little as he was
- 4:11Speaker 2: really shown, he was one of the like one of
- 4:14Speaker 2: those maybe three or four guys this season that the
- 4:17Speaker 2: audience was like, I want to know more about that guy,
- 4:19Speaker 2: Like he has something special.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I haven't watched the last twenty minutes of this episode yet.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Was there any moment with Grant this episode that you said, ah,
- 4:31Speaker 4: Bachelor material right there? And because even though he didn't
- 4:35Speaker 4: have a he didn't have a huge storyline this entire season.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Sometimes they pick a lead based on one moment. Can
- 4:43Speaker 4: we think of one moment? I could think of one
- 4:45Speaker 4: from last week's episode, but you go first.
- 4:48Speaker 2: It was shocked, like the only thing about this last
- 4:51Speaker 2: episode that was memorable from Grant's perspective is that his elimination.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Elimination was shocking, there was not. I was shocked that
- 4:59Speaker 2: he actually got eliminated, but there was really nothing else.
- 5:02Speaker 2: In fact, if you listen to the episode with Jason
- 5:05Speaker 2: and Molly Mesnik that we recorded about the episode, all
- 5:09Speaker 2: of us yesterday before we knew who was the bachelor
- 5:11Speaker 2: said it's either going to be Jonathan or shockingly Spencer
- 5:14Speaker 2: because they set them both up, and maybe Marcus. Even
- 5:20Speaker 2: because of Marcus's episode was so memorable and so important,
- 5:25Speaker 2: those three were the people we talked about as being
- 5:27Speaker 2: the next bachelor. Grant was never mentioned because it just
- 5:32Speaker 2: felt like they didn't do a lot to get him
- 5:34Speaker 2: to that point. I don't think he did anything wrong.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I don't think the show showed him enough to get
- 5:39Speaker 2: him there.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Ben. The most memorable moment that I think Grant had
- 5:45Speaker 4: this entire season was probably when he was talking with
- 5:48Speaker 4: Marcus and he was saying that he was really falling
- 5:51Speaker 4: in love with Jen and that he was kind of
- 5:54Speaker 4: revealing this and he wanted to keep it a private thing.
- 5:58Speaker 4: It It was just endearing.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I agree.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I'm confused right now, not because he's the choice. I
- 6:05Speaker 2: feel like after his one on one date, after that
- 6:08Speaker 2: moment with Marcus getting to know more about him, they
- 6:13Speaker 2: had an opportunity here to create a star, like, to
- 6:17Speaker 2: create somebody that everybody was like, of course, he's going
- 6:19Speaker 2: to be our bachelor. He's got to be a bachelor.
- 6:21Speaker 2: We couldn't think of anybody else except him to be
- 6:24Speaker 2: the Bachelor. He was made to be the Bachelor. I
- 6:26Speaker 2: don't think people are going to be upset with him
- 6:28Speaker 2: as your choice. I think people are going to be
- 6:29Speaker 2: excited about it. But I think most people's reaction is
- 6:32Speaker 2: going to be I just don't know him yet, which
- 6:36Speaker 2: is such a weird place for the lead to come from.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Question why would they if they had in their head
- 6:44Speaker 4: this guy could be Bachelor material, why wouldn't they extend
- 6:48Speaker 4: his storyline, especially since he gets far enough.
- 6:51Speaker 2: That's where I'm confused, because they obviously knew he was
- 6:54Speaker 2: going to be the Bachelor way before these episodes were
- 6:57Speaker 2: actually finally cut. They don't final cut him until almost
- 7:01Speaker 2: like a week and a half before the app st
- 7:02Speaker 2: episode airs. They knew this announcement was coming. Why did
- 7:06Speaker 2: they not start to build him up for like for
- 7:09Speaker 2: this moment, I don't know how to That's why I'm
- 7:11Speaker 2: confused on where this came from and why it came
- 7:14Speaker 2: now yeah, and why you know, and why then they
- 7:17Speaker 2: did the announcement like they did.
- 7:19Speaker 3: They're like hiding this guy. I don't get it.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I know, yeah, really weird. I want to also say that,
- 7:25Speaker 4: you know, reiterate the fact that we have liked Grant
- 7:29Speaker 4: over the past couple episodes. We were, like you said,
- 7:32Speaker 4: a little suspicious of him possibly being like too smooth
- 7:36Speaker 4: early on. But also I feel myself being pulled to
- 7:40Speaker 4: be more interested in the other guys that are still
- 7:43Speaker 4: remaining in the top four, and you know, you and
- 7:44Speaker 4: I still hold that theory that Jen doesn't pick anyone,
- 7:48Speaker 4: so all four of these guys are up for grabs
- 7:50Speaker 4: as being the Bachelor. You and I probably don't see
- 7:52Speaker 4: Jeremy as being the Bachelor, but Jonathan love Jonathan. I've
- 7:58Speaker 4: already seen buzz about people wanting him to be the Bachelor,
- 8:01Speaker 4: and then well, Devin would be very interesting.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And then uh Marcus.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Marcus has also been huge spoken about as being Bachelor
- 8:12Speaker 4: a Bachelor contender. There are some tiktoks going around right
- 8:15Speaker 4: now that there might be some controversy around him, but
- 8:19Speaker 4: Marcus has been somebody that people regarded as like the
- 8:23Speaker 4: Bachelor type material the entire season.
- 8:26Speaker 3: So it's not a bad choice. It's a good it's
- 8:28Speaker 3: not a bad choice.
- 8:29Speaker 4: But like, also, why we feel so much or we're
- 8:33Speaker 4: starting to feel a lot for these other guys.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's again, it's very weird that they did not
- 8:39Speaker 2: make him like a hero or a main character. I
- 8:43Speaker 2: would say he is not a main character this season.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He had every opportunity to be, He had every chance
- 8:48Speaker 2: to be. He started out that way and then he
- 8:51Speaker 2: just disappeared. And I don't think that's his doing. I
- 8:52Speaker 2: think it's the show's doing. And I'm going why, Like,
- 8:55Speaker 2: why are you hiding this guy? He if you're so
- 8:58Speaker 2: confident that he is your next guy, put it.
- 9:02Speaker 3: In my face, like it make it as known to
- 9:04Speaker 3: me as possible.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I just need to say that Jen left his
- 9:08Speaker 4: week on her season, and we felt like we knew
- 9:11Speaker 4: General a lot more than him.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd actually say I still didn't feel like I
- 9:14Speaker 2: knew Jen, but I do feel like I knew her
- 9:16Speaker 2: better than I know Market or I know girl Grant.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy. I don't know.
- 9:21Speaker 2: We're excited. It'll be good. I hope they start to
- 9:24Speaker 2: get him out there. I hope we start to learn
- 9:25Speaker 2: more about him, to hear more. I mean, he's obviously is.
- 9:30Speaker 2: He's very charming, he's very good looking. I think, in
- 9:32Speaker 2: Jen's words, he's hot.
- 9:34Speaker 3: He's hot. He's hot. He's so hot was her quote.
- 9:37Speaker 4: And that is great because they wanted another Joey, and
- 9:40Speaker 4: Joey is pretty universally hot. So now we have another
- 9:43Speaker 4: hot bachelor. And we did complain, well, no offense. The
- 9:47Speaker 4: other guys, all very good looking guys, have been the lead,
- 9:50Speaker 4: but we haven't had someone. You know, there was a
- 9:52Speaker 4: period where he wasn't universally hot. And Grant certainly is
- 9:58Speaker 4: he's going.
- 9:58Speaker 2: To do all right for himself, I'm sure, or he's
- 10:00Speaker 2: gonna do just fine. Well, hey, that's the breaking news.
- 10:03Speaker 2: We have a new bachelor announced. Grant ellis thirty years old,
- 10:06Speaker 2: former professional basketball player now in finance day trader. I
- 10:11Speaker 2: think is the profession they said for him. We'll be
- 10:14Speaker 2: back with another episode of the Almost Famous podcast. We
- 10:16Speaker 2: actually have more breaking news this week that will be
- 10:20Speaker 2: sharing right away as soon as we record it.
- 10:23Speaker 3: But until next time, I've been Ben, I've been Ashley. Bye.
